《Re:Chomper》


 Prologue:Death

    My name is Gregory haunt.


    I am 20 years old ,single, and a strong believer in welfare, health insurance, and fast food...


    At least I was before my abrupt death caused by my own desire and lack of self control. I can remember my last moments as if it had just happened. I was on my living room sofa minding my own business finishing up my second chicken sandwich when I felt a familiar pain in my chest... I wasn''t really scared as this was not the first time this had happened, so I quickly (Or at least as fast as my body could possible move...) made my way to the emergency button on my table when i felt the second pain. Normally  I only get 1 attack before I''ve made my way to the button and help is on the way, but this is the first time another had happened and i was only half way to it and so I began to panic for the first time in a while.


    My mind began to cloud as the third attack came without mercy causing me to fall to my knees as and then to the ground as the combined efforts of gravity and my own weight brought me down. As cardiac arrest began my life flashed before my eyes, sadly it wasn''t much to look at.My life can be described in 2 words EAT and SLEEP, even when i was going to school I never joined anything that involved physical activity.

I joined a help group meant to help people and animals in need over the weekend, It was one of the few exceptions to my no physical activities rule.  Now that i think about it I enjoyed being in that group... to bad its all over now. As my eyelids began to close and my heart becomes useless inside my chest I can only think about what would happen if I did something else with my life.

 chapter 1: transfer and transformation

    Have you ever had a dream so strong that it felt real? I''m sure you had before even if it was about something silly or unrealistic i''m pretty sure everyone had at least one before.


    Why am I asking you this? Because its the only logical thing I can think of to explain what is happening to me right now. At this very moment i''m transparent and hovering over what seems to be my body face down on the ground with little stream of blood dripping from my nose and mouth...


    Suddenly I felt a iressistable urge to be still and relax,while i''m sure the more appropriate thing to do would have been to freak out since I''m pretty sure I had a heart attack but I noticed I couldn''t move. It was like I was chained to the spot, even my comprehension of what was happening to my surroundings was slowly fading as if it had never mattered to begin with. Just when I was about to blank out I noticed a feeling of numbness began to creep up from my legs I looked down at my feet and noticed red chains were covering them and quickly climbing up them to the rest of my body!


    At this point I was out of whatever fog was covering my mind and freaking out. I began to struggle in a attempt to free myself as the chains began to burn and constrict me without giving me any chance to run, I had no way of resisting and the pain was to much for me to bear so i quickly fell to the ground just as I had before . It was then that I noticed there was two things that differed from when I had first fell,the ground had made a splashing sound and a black liquid was all over me, and I began to sink into the floor...


    My struggles then began once more but this time empowered by the fact I had NO IDEA what was going on anymore


    and I just wanted to wake up from this nightmare. Soon the chains had covered my entire body and began to slowly sink into my body burning me the entire time leaving branding crimson symbols all over my skin and causing me to swell till I was twice as big and causing my skin to turn red.


    The sludge covered me and finished the deed pulling me completely through and covering me completely causing my skin to tingle and itch as though millions of ants where crawling all over my body, I felt pain all over my body as something began to poke through the skin on my head and forehead and my nose began to shrink. My eyes  suddenly began to burn as my vision began to change becoming more focused on the center than outward, I began to feel over my face and found my eyes had combined into one massive one, then I felt my mouth began to shrink and seal together at a frightening pace till it completely disappeared. I felt two lumps burst through my back before I could even panic about my mouth,  this  was like with my head and forehead but more violent and three times as painful. After the pain stopped my back felt different, as though I had gained more appendages but they were not something I had before. Then I felt my fingers,toes and ears stretch and curve causing me even more pain. Finally something similar to my back came out of my backside but by then I was so out of it that whatever it was it did not matter to me .


    I abruptly stopped sinking inside the sludge when I hit the bottom by then the tingling sensation had moved from the rest of my body to my stomach and was causing various feelings and changes to come to me. It was like everything inside my lower half was being pushed together and mashed into one tiny place inside me, my stomach expanded and stretched to match with my swelled body. Then I felt pain worlds beyond what I was feeling before deep within my stomach,it was as though my stomach had splitting open and there was a fire inside bursting out, it was so bad I could only shut my eyes( eye) and wait for it to leave. When the burning finally faded I noticed I could control the massive opening on my stomach and that there were two new appendage similar to a tongue and a uvula.The pain also disappeared and my body returned to being numb starting from my stomach and moving to the rest of my body. For a moment all I could do was float there and try to breath while hoping the worst is over, after what felt like half a hour I began to pull myself together and ask myself what I''ve wanted to ask from the start.


    Gregory: (Why is this happening to me, I have never done anything wrong  to anyone in my entire life, . )


    Was this punishment for doing what made me happy?


    Gregory: (Is this judgement for feeding myself each time I felt like it instead of when I had to? If this was supposed to be some kind of divine punishment I could never accept that)


    Gregory: (Not once has my bad habit harmed anyone before so I can''t understand why this is happening to me, dying should have been enough if my actions were the cause, this torture is something no one should ever have to feel...)

    I lay there crying uncontrollably in the abyss, finally the tole the changes took on my body and mind caused me to drift off with my thoughts full of self pity and a longing for retribution. I awoke to the sound of running water and found myself in different location than the darkness I was in before, there were small glowing green  stones inside the sealing and the walls giving off a weak glow and blackish grey water was all over the floor. I was inside some kind of glass dome filled with the black water I remembered but three times as thick, it was hard for me to even move to look at my surroundings.  Slowly I made my way to the glass and looked around the one I was inside of.


    All around me there were shattered domes with water  pouring out of them  and tables either broken or flipped, various beakers filled with every color you could think of  littered the floor with only the larger ones whole while the smaller ones were shattered and swept away by the flood of water.


    I was about to attempt to escape my dome when 3 strange things appeared before my eye and I heard a female voice read them out to me.

    Gregory: (What the hell is this?)


    I had no idea what these where or what they were supposed to mean, or who that woman was because I could not see anyone nearby but  i''m pretty sure she was  making fun of me...


    I know my body doesn''t look as dashing(......) as it did before but still that does not make it fine to call me a bottomless pit or a abomination!!(I have feelings to you know...)


    So I once again went towards the the glass wall and tried to push on it in a attempt to force it out of place or at least make some of this water leak out.Sadly I have no upper body strength to speak of so all my efforts only ended in me getting tired and wishing I could take a nap. So I tried to push the glass once more but stopped when I felt something strange inside my stomach. It wasn''t like the pain I was having before but more like longing as though I was starving for a long time and was in desperate need of food, when I thought of eating the mouthlike opening on my stomach opened and I could feel the water being pulled into it like it was quickly being swallowed, I immediately felt like I could pick up an entire truck!

    I heard that girls voice and more words appeared in front of me once more leaving me equally confused and embarrassed. From what I can put together It seems that when i want to eat the mouth on my stomach opens even if I don''t make it open,  I also seem to be able to suck things into the mouth and swallow them if I wanted to eat it but had no way of reaching it. While that''s nice and all it doesn''t really help me get out of this dome now does it, so I drank the rest of the water so I could get that strength boost then I used all the power I had to knock the glass out of place. When it was dislodged it fell to the ground and broke into pieces allowing me to escape, which then brought me to the next problem.


    How do I walk...

 Chapter 2: discovery,adventure and parenthood?

    Walking is one hundred times harder than you think it is, I mean babies can take 9 to 17 months just to walk and it not any easier when your my size. I was floating for a really long time in the water and before that I normally had the luxury of a automatic chair for when I needed to move around and my groceries could just be ordered and brought to me from the nearest store.  Now don''t get me wrong I still remember how to walk its just my body wasn''t really capable of making the movements or exerting the energy needed to keep myself up. To be honest I wouldn''t have been able to reach the glass let alone break it if it wasn''t for that sweet tasting water that was surrounding me...


    If i''m going to be leaving this place i''m going to need to know my capabilities and whats different about me. So I leaned over onto my hands  and lifted myself up as much as I could until I  had one leg holding myself up and the other still on the knee. I leaned forward once more and lifted my other leg  and tried to stand up, the results where me falling on my but and having no idea what happened. I probably would have stayed down there being confused if it wasn''t for the cold, wet sensation I was feeling near my rear. I looked behind me and noticed something I would have never believed if I didn''t already come to terms with the fact I have a mouth on my stomach. Laying in the pool of murky water was a 3 feet long scaled tail with a large spiked ball on the end!


    For a moment all I could do was stare at my newest body part as it lay there soaking in the water, I couldn''t sit there forever though so I got on my hands and slowly dragged it out of the water and into the broken dome.  I then tried to lift it up only to discover it weighed ton! Now I know what caused me to fall I pretty much have a brick connected to my backside at all times, so walking is officially not an option if I can''t even stand up. So I temporarily put leaving on standby and instead decided to identify all the new appendages I now  had starting with my head. I first looked at my hands which have became scaled claws with the sharp pointed nails.  I then ran my hand over my head and found out I had two pairs horns on top of my head and on my forehead and a line of spikes leading to my back. I moved to my hands lower and found I had two sets of wings on my back separated by the line of spikes. With further experimentation I discovered I can fold and unfold them at will, when I got to moving my tail I received another message from that woman.

    By now I''ve stopped caring what she says since if I bother to try and understand what these rectangles mean i''ll only get confused and i''m confused enough as it is, so back to what I was doing before I was so rudely interrupted. When I  began to move my tail I managed to lift it up to my stomach before I dropped the wrecking ball creating a large crater in the dome. I''ve discovered  that I am completely covered in scales and I have a tail, 2 pairs of horns,2 pairs of  bat like wings on my back,and a line of spikes starting from my forehead and ending at the ball on my tail, I must look like some kind of monster with my size and features. Well I''ve wasted enough time on myself, its time that I got moving and find out where I am. So I got on all fours and slowly made my way out of the dome and being careful not to step on any shards in the water, after crawling for a while I notice a slope with a open rusted door at the bottom  in front of me where all the water is eventually pouring out of. I begin towards it  when I slip on something inside the water and begin to roll down at an incredibly fast pace, soon I''m rushing out of the door and I finally slow to a stop, flopping onto my back and about to barf(Roller coasters never agreed with me...). When I''ve managed to avoid throwing up the patronizing woman came back with her confusing messages...

    After wiping  myself of I got back on all fours and examined where my surroundings, i''m in a dim cave with all kinds of bugs I''ve never need before. Some of them where almost as big as me while others as large as a child, my new goal is to avoid each and every one of them...


    While exploring the area I found a something that did not go with the cave settings here,in the very back there was a large patch of vegetation surrounded by bushes with colorful berries on them  and some small trees with apples and oranges growing off them and in the center there was a dome just like the one I was in but this time there was vibrant green liquid filling it and a sleeping child curled up inside it. It  was a girl about 5 or 8 years old, she was wearing a torn up set of leather clothing and covered in strange symbols similar to but different from the ones on my body. She had white hair and a green jewel on her forehead and various glowing vines going into her body connecting her to the bottom of the dome, it was as though they where pumping something into the poor kid. Honestly I could barely look at her without cringing so I looked for some way to release her without hurting her from the outside. After a bit of searching I discovered the dome was exactly the same as the one I was in so their was no way out from the outside...


    Sadly this means I''ll have to use a little more force to free her, I made my way to the front of the dome and lifted my tail  up behind me as far as I could then quickly turned slamming it into the glass shattering it into pieces. The vines shriveled up and tore allowing the girl to fall to the bottom of the dome, I checked her for injuries but found none that I could identify or treat. I waited a while but the girl still hasn''t awoken, she just lay there sleeping as if nothing changed and she was still inside the dome. But I don''t have the luxury to stay here and wait for her to wake up, some of the child sized insects noticed me breaking the dome and are watching us at this very moment. I don''t trust them to stay back or believe I can protect her or myself if they all came at me...


    Seriously though I joined a club devoted to stopping violence in school and helping people and animals nearby for pete''s sake, whenever someone came to me and was being less than friendly I would either shrivel up and cower or runaway ( one of the few times I was ever fast). Do you honestly believe I have the skill let alone the courage to stand up to these things. So with our personal safety in mind I gently picked her up placed her on my back and quickly began to flee from their as far as my claws could take me. After I''ve managed to lose the bugs I noticed I was in another area again, there was light coming from a opening in the wall ahead of me and I was smelling something sweet from inside it but I was also hearing a buzzing noise so I decided to play it safe and hide  us behind the largest pile of rocks I could find. When I peeked over the rocks I instantly wished I hadn''t, coming from the opening was the largest hornet I had ever seen. It was just as long as my tail and almost as wide with a razor sharp stinger right behind it, for a moment there I forgot to breath and simply sat there on my knees trembling fearing it would fly higher and notice us. But it seems I lucked out as more buzzing and some strange roars came from the opening and the giant wasp turned and slowly began to return to where ever it came from, but before it made it completely outside the worst possible thing happened...

Report the violation.The girl began to wake up, she started to make noise and move around on my back yawning and blinking as if her life wasn''t in danger this very second. While I was debating over what to do the hornet began to look around for what was creating the noise. By then it was clear to me that she had to be silenced or we would both be goners, so I reached my right arm over my back grabbed her and covered her mouth with my left one put her beneath me and curled up shielding her from view and making myself look like a large red rock. The hornet flew around looking at everything around it and for a moment there I thought we were dead but then another roar came from the outside and it was three times and loud as the others. The hornet quickly flew towards the opening leaving me and the trembling girl alone, when I was absolutely sure it was gone I leaned back and let the girl go. She tried to run from me but fell when she was standing without my support, seems she has a similar walking problem to the one I have. I began to move towards her to help her up but she gave a little shriek when I approached her and waves her hands at me.


    Girl: Stay back! I''m warning you I can hurt you r-really bad if I wanted to! I''ve hurt tons of m-monsters before!


    The girl tried to be threatening but the fact she was crying,stuttering, and still trembling backfired on her making her seem incredibly harmless. Nonetheless she kept waving her hands at me as if I was some kind of small animal that would run in fear of such a display. I disliked making such a small child scared so I backed up a bit and tried to calm her down.


    Gregory: Please calm down I''m a friend I promise I won''t hurt you. I know I look like this but i''m really not a bad guy.


    I even smiled at her and sat on my knees to show how friendly I was and that I wasn''t going to get any closer unless she wanted me to, she seemed pretty shocked I could speak and honestly it only made her look cuter. After a bit she recovered and changed her posture to match mine, she was still looking at me like I would eat her up any second but we were at least more comfortable and able to speak easier.


    Girl: You can speak?!


    Gregory: Of course. I may not look like it but I can speak perfect english I can even go as far to call myself sociable.


    Girl: Oh.


    Once again we were back to sitting there staring at each other as the awkward silence commenced for the second time, I was about to speak when I head a quite growl which instantly got me worried. I put my front to hands on the rocks and looked over them to survey the area, I noticed nothing new when I felt a hand on my tail. I looked back to see the girl looking at me with a slightly flushed face as she asked me a question.


    Girl: Can I ask you something mister monster?


    At first I was wondering why she put monster at the end but then I remembered my new size and appearance, I then got back on my knees and waited for her to finish.


    Gregory: go ahead ask me anything.


    I smiled again to make my point, sadly it seems my smiles only scare her( I forgot about the fact my mouth is on my stomach and that its gigantic and full of teeth) so i''m making a mental note not to smile anymore....


    I quickly shut my mouth and try to act as if the dreaded smile had never came.


    Girl: o-Ok...


    Girl: Do you happen to know where any food is...


    For a second I was confused but then I put the clues together and realized it was her who made the growl, she''s starving just like I was when I first woke up. So I got on all fours and moved over the pile of rocks and patiently waited for her to walk out from behind the stones, when she didn''t I remembered she can''t walk and instead went towards her and layed down in front of her despite her reaction to me being so close. After a bit I heard another growl and this time it was louder than the last, she gave in and climbed on top of me I then got up and quickly made my way to the vegetation. When we reached there I asked her to climb on top of my shoulders so that I could give her a boost to one of the apples, she wasn''t sure at first but after a bit she climbed up and i got up on the tree allowing her to grab as many as she wanted. After grabbing 6 of them she climbed down and sat the apples down on her knees, she gave 3 to me and took the rest. When she was comfortable she voraciously ate the apples after taking a bite out of the largest, I was curious if they were really as good as she''s making them look so I put all 3 inside my mouth. They where pretty sweet so in the end I ate a dozen more and she grabbed a couple and put them in a pocket on her shirt.I was about to move on when she asked if she could ride me again, I had no problem with that so I picked her up and put her on my back.


    Girl: Thank you mister.


    Gregory: The names Gregory but feel free to call me Greg


    Girl: Ok i''m Samantha  but you can call me Sam


    She gave me a pleasant and vibrant smile that only a child could give, I''m honestly glad she can act more herself near me without being constantly afraid. Children should always be able to smile and be safe no matter what happens, I began to bring us back to the caves entrance while hoping the hornet won''t comeback. I told Sam to keep a look out


    for any insects that get to close or if any where following us, so far we''ve been in the clear and have had no problems.


    When we got to the opening the coast was clear so we were able to safely make our way out of the cave. Once we were out I examined our location, it was a large forest all around us the cave seems to be home to various insects that can''t fly. When I looked at the trees I noticed gigantic hives littered the floor nearby and all of them were cracked open and had tracks leading from them and into the forest. It was as if something smacked them all out of the trees and tore them open, whatever it was I didn''t want to meet it anytime soon so we began to move in the opposite direction of the tracks. When I looked at the sky I noticed the sun was almost down and so we needed a place to hide and rest, while I was looking for that Sam was playing with my wings to pass the time. I noticed various caves while searching but I avoided them simply because i''m sick and tired of dark places. Soon the sunset was upon us so I had to make a drastic decision and uprooted a couple bushes dug a hole large enough to contain me and Sam near a rock and placed the bushes over it to make it seem as if they grew their. I grabbed a couple rocks and put them near the bushes so that I could close the little hideaway when I wanted to. I then put Sam under one  arm and crawled into the burrow adjusted the bushes one last time and sealed the entrance with rocks.


    Gregory: Goodnight Sam


    Sam: Goodnight Gregory...


    Sam fell asleep soon after, which left me alone to think about the future and what we''ll have to speak about in the morning. Questions like where are we?, Where are Sams parents?,why were we inside those domes, and the most important of all what are we going to do now? With my mind full of worries I could only hold Sam tight and try and sleep. As the sounds of various animals and creatures fills the forest I close my eye and hope for the best.
