《Pride》 Prologue i''ve rehashed some ideas and chipped abit off while adding some new things in. same basic idea as the original, with some lines being changed. _____________________________________________________________ A golden lion over 10 meters in length stood in a cave, eyeing off a human baby as it it was looking at a fearsome opponent. Suddenly the baby rolled over onto its stomach, startling the lion, causing it to jump back to over 10 meters away. He stared at the baby intensely for a few minutes, as if waiting for it to do something, but all it did was stare back at him with his big blue eyes. A light laugh resounded through the air coming from the lion, as if ashamed of himself for being scared of a baby. Suddenly, the lion stood up on his two rear legs, and started to shrink in size. His body had changed, and he now resembled a human male almost 2 meters tall. Crimson red hair swayed down his back against his black robe, with sharp golden eyes seemingly devoid of any kindness. He walked up to the baby, eyeing the room to make sure no one was around before he reached down, grabbing the baby''s left leg and lifting him into the air. They were currently eye level, as the man seemed to be inspecting him. The baby had appeared out of no where, causing him immense shock and confusion. No matter how hard he tried to find something unusual about the baby, there was nothing. He bobbed the baby up and down as if to coax a reaction, but instead, the baby vomited. White bile covered the mans black robe. His eyes twitched as his clothes disappeared, with a new pair instantly reappearing on his body. Shaking his head, he looked at the baby one last time before putting him down, but when the baby was about to touch the ground, his eyes sparkled. They shone like the stars in the sky, seemingly filled with infinite space. This luster only lasted for a moment, but it couldn''t escape the mans eyes. The man lifted the baby back up, readjusting his grip to hold him properly. He stared at the little black haired blue eyed baby for 5 minutes, and after a while, his cold, expressionless face was covered with a bright smile. After a few seconds a woman in a white robe, with a hood covering her face appeared kneeling behind him. Removing her hood, "yes mas....." she started, but seeing the scene in front of her, she couldn''t help but stop. Shock and confusion visible in her eyes as he mouth lay agape. This was the first time she had ever seen her master smile in such a way. She stared on, shifting her head from her master to the baby in his arms. She didn''t know what it was about this baby, as he looked ordinary. Yet this seemingly ordinary baby had caused her master to have such an expression. She shook her head as if to clear her thoughts, before looking back at her master. Finally the man turned to face her, his smile disappearing. "Run into town and grab a few humans who know how to care for children, and find out what we need to keep him fed and healthy. Take Rase with you to carry everything." As soon as he looked back to the boy, the mans cold demeanor disappeared once again. Dez opened her mouth to talk when the mans voice echoed in her head " Now!". He sounded very stern, not giving her a chance to speak. She gave a respectful bow before her body shook, and she disappeared. The mans eyes still on the baby as he was pinching his cheeks, smiling as he looked at the baby''s uncomfortable expression, seeming to find teasing him funny. He looked up at the skylight like hole in the cave ceiling, staring at the stars above. Thinking back to someone he once knew, with eyes very similar to the baby''s. ___________________________ that is it so far, please let me know what you think and if you have any ideas/tips please let me know as i appreciate all the advice i can get. :) p.s soz about all the potential grammar mistakes :P Chapter 1 5 years later War raged through the Verdi Kingdom as the royal family tried to escape. a coup forcing them to leave the kingdom their family had called home for the last 2000 years. The king, as well as his wife and lone daughter, were being escorted by a group of 8 guards. They were the only surviving soldiers of the royal guard, the kings personal unit. They made their way to the mountain range 200 kilometers to the south of the kingdom, known as the BlackRidge mountains. This was the most perilous location in the entire Adonai Continent. They entered the forest, wary of the monstrous beasts that roam these land. Their hearts clenched as their trip seemed a bit too safe. No beasts impeded their journey, which only served to raise their guard. "Its way to quiet" one of the guards said in a hushed voice. "I agree, every time our soldiers entered this mountain range we were ambushed almost instantly, now we''ve been walking for over 30 minutes and nothing." said another, eyeing the area around them for any activity. They continued walking for another 30 minutes when they finally reached a lake. Although it was called a lake, it looked more like an ocean. It was enormous, however, in the scope of the world it was considered nothing but a drop. They walked over to the water, seeing if it was safe to drink before refilling their canteens. "What the fuck do you think you''re doing?" yelled a voice coming from their left. They all looked to the side to see an incredibly strange sight. There was a man with long crimson hair flowing down his black robe, with piercing golden eyes that looked like they could peer into your souls. Next to him was a boy who looked no older than 5, with shoulder length black hair and deep sparkling blue eyes. He was wearing no shirt leaving his childishly skinny upper body uncovered, while his shorts that seemed too big were tied on with a vine. They were sitting on a giant rock, with fishing rods in hand. It took the soldiers a while to register what had been said, but when they finally did, most of them showed extreme caution. To be able to fish leisurely in such a location proved how strong this pair truly was. One of the soldiers didn''t seem to think of the consequences and spoke out in a rage. "This is his royal majesty, King Richard, you''re addressing. Show some respect!" one of the soldiers yelled. An evil grin over took the mans face as he stared at the soldier, he began raising his hand and pointed a finger at the man. Boom. The man exploded and blood flew everywhere, covering the soldiers in the rain. The soldiers jumped at the sight of one of their comrades being killed, yet had no way to explain what had happened to him. The soldiers wanted to move to protect the king, but seemed to have been frozen in place, unable to move a muscle. The man then placed his rod to the side and stood up, staring at the people with a malicious light in his eyes. Did you know this text is from a different site? I will gladly take your life" he said as he jumped off the rock and started walking to the group. The king of the forest? As soon as they heard these words, their bodies trembled as they wished they could run. The king simply stared at the man walking towards him with horror in his eyes. He had heard the legends of the might Golden Winged Lion who ruled the Black Ridge Mountains, and how he could change his appearance to that of a man with long crimson hair and golden eyes. He wished he could turn back time and stop his soldier from proclaiming he was a king in front of such an entity, yet he could only wish after all. The man walked up the the group standing only 10 meters away when the king''s daughter stepped in front of her father. She held he arms wide as if to stop the man from moving any further. Although her actions seemed resolute, she was trembling all over. She loved her father, and knew of no other way to save him. The man let out a malicious laugh seeing this. "Little girl, you have 3 seconds to move or you shall be joining your father in the netherworld." He said in a cold tone. The girl trembled even more but still refused to move. The man simply shrugged his shoulders and raised his hand, pointing a finger at the little girl. __________________________________ been very busy with work and hadn''t been able to release this. it was very rushed and will probably be full of mistakes so if you see any please point them out. any ideas and tips on the direction i should take this is greatly appreciated as im currently just making it up as i go :L :) Chapter 2 "Can I have a minute with them uncle Gold?" An immature voice called out from behind the man. Everyone was too scared to be paying attention to the little boy sitting on the rock, but at this point he instantly appeared standing in front of the villain that was about to end their lives. Everyone was shocked and had no idea where he came from, but he seemed to be wanting to save them. "Ehh, why?" The man called uncle gold said with an annoyed tone. He stared at the little boy standing in front of him, confusion in his eyes. "Because I need some people to help me train my sword remember. You and Dez don''t use weapons, but these soldiers do. It would be a waste to kill them now, wouldn''t it?" he said with an innocent smile. The soldiers felt a chill run down their spines when they heard this. they never expected anyone to come to their aid, let alone only save them so they could teach swordplay. Even though they should feel relieved, it only made them feel more fear. They were all Immortal Cultivators like the man in front of them, but they were only in the [Immortal Initiate] realm, the first realm in cultivation. Compared to him who had killed one of their companions with a finger, they were nothing but ants. The gap in strength was way too big. "Wouldn''t I only have to spare one of them then?" asked uncle Gold in a sinister tone. The boy frowned and turned around, looking at the group of people behind him. His eyes wandered across the soldiers and then landed on the little girl guarding her father. Their eyes locked and the boy smiled. She was a very pretty girl, with long blonde hair and blue eyes, completely different from her father who had a balding head was fairly overweight. She bore a striking resemblance to her mother however. They looked like they could be twins if the gap in age wasn''t so large. ''I guess being the king comes with its perks'' he thought. "Whats your name?" he asked the girl. His eyes sparkled for a brief moment, causing the girl to enter a trance. It was as if had no control over her body or mind at this moment. "Elise" she said in a dull voice. Her expression blanked as her trembling stopped, and she lowed her arms to her side. Her parents were in complete shock seeing their daughters behaviour, yet they had no way to explain why she was acting such a way, and didn''t dare say anything in fear of their lives. "Hello Elise, I am Kael and this is my uncle. You can call him uncle Gold" he said with a laugh. She curtseyed in a very robotic way "it is a pleasure to meet you, Kael and uncle Gold" she said lowering her head, looking like she would stay in this position forever. Her parents were trembling seeing this, the father, the king, stepped forward to intervene, when all of a sudden, the boy locked eyes with him. He instantly felt stuck in place, as if he couldn''t move a single muscle. He couldn''t even open his mouth to protest. A smile crept on Kael''s face as he turned to face the girl again, who was still in a curtsy, not moving in the slightest. "Please rise, Elise" he said in a soft voice. She stood back up completely straight, with the same blank expression on her face. Seeing this, an evil smile appeared on uncle Golds face as he let out a light laugh. "Elise, can you tell me who out of everyone present is the best swordsmen?" asked Kael in an innocent tone, with a sweet smile plastered on his face. Elise nodded. "It is Darius" she said as she raised her right arm and pointed to a man standing right behind the king. Seeing this, the man felt his back run cold, and an immediate sense of danger rose up inside him. Kael looked at the man, and when their eyes locked the man''s body seemed to tremble in fear, and he fell to his knees. Kael shook his head at this sight, and let out a sigh. "Unfortunate" he said as he turned to face uncle gold. "It seems its unnecessary to acquire their services uncle Gold. I''ll leave them to you" said Kael as he walked back up to the rock, picking up his rod and resuming fishing. Uncle Gold let out a sigh and shook his head. ''too cold'' he thought as he looked at the boy. The lives of innocents didn''t seem to matter to him. All he cared about was training. For such a young boy to act in such a way, even made this legendary figure anxious to see how he would be when he grew. Uncle gold turned back to face the group and a malicious smile appeared on his face once more. His body grew, and in an instant he turned into a ten meter long lion, with golden fur, a fiery red mane and white angel like wings on his back. he opened his maw, showing his teeth to the group, before throwing himself into his feast. -------------------------------- hello once again, another chapter here. i know that this kid may seem cold and evil i guess but thats how hes been raised to be. im not saying he wont always have these evil tendencies but he will progress in the future to become a better person i guess haha idk... guess well have to wait and see, as this is also an adventure for me, not having the slightest clue how this book is going to turn out, writing the chapters as they come. hope you enjoyed and again, sorry about all the mistakes in advance. let me know if there is any confusion in anything and ill rectify it. :) :)
