There are 3 lines of defenses that protects the borders of the Sovereignty of Merlon, the first line was broken down by carelessness with no chance of fighting back due to the lackluster attitude of the troops that patrols borders.The 2nd line for now has been holding on tighly, yet everyone knew at the 3rd line of defense that soon the rush of barbarians would break in and start the slaughter and chaos that about to happen. In the day of the 15th of fall, the barbarians made an attack at the allied nation of Merylofed, there the border patrols was taken aback by the surge of barbarians rushing through the plains of Merycarel in a huge number that counts to about 15,000 humanoids wielding unknown furs that is hard as steel and physiques that has the capacity to run 40kmph and have a lifting strength of 550kg, they were surprised by the scene and the allied nation of Merylofed launch a defensive attack against the surge of invaders, by amassing their 50,000 strong army against them, but yet even with that number they were dwindled down to a mere number of 415 strong veterans that has miraculously fended off the rush of those barbarians by having Theodor Baletvan forcefully taking the position of the commander when the barbarians beheaded the poor Commander of the army in cold blood. They say that with the 500 troops in hand, Theodor Baletvan fended the barbarians by skillfully making use of the veteran monster fenders and hunting the barbarians with a pincer attack that made a hole on their rush and having them to forcefully deploy 15 biome bombs that turn the whole of Merycarel into a living shithole. After the tragic loss that the whole allied nation of Merylofed suffered, they immediately made the alchemist''s raised giant barriers that would stall them enough for them to think of counter measures against the barbarians, Then for 5 whole years they secluded themselves from the touch of the world and appeared with armors that is powered by some kind of mechanism that enhances the strength its user a hundred times the strength of a normal human, the Exodiac armaments are something our sovereignty would love to have, but the whole allied nation of Merylofed doesn''t dare to share their technology that easily and arrogantly keeps them to their own uses. says the annoyed looking man known as Bill as he painfully explain it''''. VOETA- The Crude nation that has been on the continent an island nation that has been considered as safe haven if only would reach its land and manage to pass through the hurricane filled airspace and waters of violent of whirlpools The Allied Nation of Merylofed- The Powerhouse of the Voreson Continent, simply put they are the most oldest tribes that have united together when the barbarians gave them a kick in the heel. This nation was the first to encounter them and the ones who have fended them during the Battle of Merycarel. This country was formed by researchers and alchemist''s that have made use of its power to raise barriers and dig through their city and made complex underground labyrinth''s that reaches through the crust of the earth. Some of the soldiers have begun their rest due to fatigue and some have stayed awake for the night in the fear of the crawling chaos that will arrive at any given moment. Among the ones who have stayed in silence is the 13th battalion. They have been standing on the edge of the fortress, surveying and monitoring every movement without letting anything slip.For the sake of the troops that have given their hopes to them, they have stayed vigilant in their watch. Their special suits may have given their bodies no fatigues but it doesn''t mean that there mental health is being given the same treatment. The VernonSuits only makes the body feel no pain due to the excretion of numbing toxins,but it doesn''t give any supplements for the brain, yes they might be calm, but with great stress and massive amounts of emotions , the VernonSuits cannot inject enough toxins to combat it. As the night grows even darker, only the scenery of the wasteland can be seen, the wasteland despite being called that is mysterious land within a giant desert, but the border fortress is built atop a giant oasis that completely makes use of the underground water and fertile land to provide addition supplies and drinkable water. At one of the edges of the fortress a soldier and member of the 13th battalion, called Lester stands staring at the vast sky filled with glittering stars in total daze. He stands inside a tall humanoid like suit called VernonSuit, The Suit''s main concept is ''''A man within a skeleton'''', Simply put the idea was made by a very casual remark of a researcher that have casually said ''''what if... we make a suit that can be piloted by a human and will acts as its skeleton?'''' and because of that remark the Vernonsuit was produce and something that many soldiers would be honored to equip. Lester finds the whole thing something a normal person like him would never get, a genius thinks a lot differently than an average human is something Lester believes. But nonetheless without the suit he would probably be standing in this cold night trembling in fear what to come. Anyway.......Lester was on constant alert, he was on trance. Simply because the danger has not arrive yet. Later this afternoon they were alerted and was armed because of the fall 2 lines before the fortress, despite the prediction that the barbarins would be rushing straight the fortress, it never happen. 30 minutes, an hour and hours have passed yet any signs of the intruders was nil. Instead of relief what Lester felt was doubt and fear. Lester was always aware that the barbarians were not simple minded creatures, despite the speculations they never tried to attack the fortress after the fall of the 2nd line. Was it because the barbarians were tired after their constant battle? Or is it the possibility that they are lurking in the shadows planning their ways of attack? Sweat pours at Lester''s cheeks as he thought about things. If the barbarians were truly as smart as Lester imagines, then what will happen to them? Will a battalion and a bunch soldiers be enough to combat them? Will they able to fend off such monsters with the power and ability to exceed even the capabilities of the VernonSuits? Lester give up and gave himself a mental slap. This is not the time for fear, for that comes later as Lester thought to himself. He needs to do anything to survive, no he MUST survive, the thought of dying here is something that Lester will never allow. Lester took this job because he is not a wise man. He can''t find himself in place full of books and pile of documents. For Lester, having to use force was something that he can work with. He have painstakingly cultivated his skills and marksmanship so that he can survive any ordeals in this work and retire after years of service. Survive, that is something Lester have given himself as a goal and will not fail to accomplish it. ..................................................... After they were done doing repairs and recovery, the five man group sneaked through the fortress and slowly eliminated the barbarians that they encounter. So if the doors won''t break or open then he tried busting the walls, but with the thickness of the walls it was all in vain trying to dent it. Chapter 5 - The Thread of Hope Four figures are running on a tight corridor. Namely it was Auburn,Lester,Millinda and Bill. Simply because inside the room was a ton of food, ammo and repair parts for their VernonSuits and so they were guarded heavily. Among the four person inside the room was Lester. Lester right now is the one in control of himself. Auburn and Bill have turn into killing machines because of the Suit''s over effect. Millinda was staring blankly at the air, there were almost no trace of light in her eyes. It was the look of utter despair and the look of someone accepting their death. Lester frowned, the people around him have either been broken or turn cold. Right now they moving on instincts and are people who have only words to describe ''''Kill'''' and ''''Survive''''. That was the result and effect of the VernonSuit excreting too much Numbing toxins on their brain. Lester was currently able to think through with sheer willpower alone. He was someone who was scared on overly using the numbing toxin to the highest mark. He would only use the toxins when death is unavoidable. Within the room lies many parts and ammo''s for the whole battalion and soldiers that were station on this fortress. With this they can probably fully equipped themselves and have rations worth a month. But yet even with this, the only thing that mattered were the Remote VernonSuit It is a type of Suit made for launching deadly sneak attacks and when destroyed would dispersed and explode! But even with this suit, it will only function if the user would connect his or her brainwaves and transfer the electrons right into the Remote Suit;s Brain and Energy core. With every equipment there were also aftereffects that comes with it, bonding with the Remote VernonSuit might cause effects such as the body being paralyze for a week or the body being put into comatose state if the Suit gets too much damage. Nonetheless it is something that can be piloted by those who are willing to face the after effects of it. At the same time Bill has been put into the Remote Pod and was sealed away into the safe under the armory. Then Lester attached armors,weapons and layered protection on top of the suit. The Remote-VersnonSuit is controlled by the core on the suit that connects with the remote pod. Therefore the performance of the controlled suit is 10 times better than a human wearing a suit! Inside the suit was a metal figure that act as the frame and skeleton of the suit and also the part where the receiver for the brain waves was put on. Looking at the Suit now it was even more taller and near the size of a Exodiac armament! ****** As the were armed and ready, they would move out and go venture the barbarian filled fortress! The only Goal was to launch successful ambushes on the fortress and assassinate the leader of the invades who they recalled was named BAR. And with opening the door the four slowly walks out and with a flick of the hand sealed the last room that are safe. Then the operation began. The four stride to the direction of the garage and carefully walk in and observe fpr any prior movements. Within the corridors there were oddly no sign of any barbarians.Thinking that is there chance the four quickly rush into the garage and entered it. At that place also lies the broken and dismembered Transport machine armed with turrets. Looking at the machine it was obvious that without the skills of a mechanic they won''t be able to fix the transport machine. They look around looking for Deva but they not that naive to think that she would survive. The knew that when she ordered to retreat it was her saying that she would hold back the enemy and will die. Knowing that they didn''t stick long and look at the destroyed smoke vent. If it wasn''t for the enemy finding the vent then they would probably massacred a number of barbarians with the machine. Lester then thought that if they had known this,they would have at least defended the fortress and maybe pushed back the barbarians. But nonetheless it was too late for that now. The group of five then walked back into the garage and at least made use of the water hose to drain the blood away and in order for Kevin to do his thing. Then Bill stayed on guard for Kevin as Lester,Millinda and Auburn head back tot the supplies and armory room to gather the parts Kevin needed. The three didn''t talk nor try to say anything, after all they can only rely on themselves and the effects of the VernoSuit have made them not much of a talker. ******* Hours have gone pass. At the garage four of the remaining people have been staring blankly at the air while Kevin, focuses on fixing the transport machines. Because at this moment after Kevin is done they have decided that they would catch up to the hordes of barbarian and warn their nation of the horde. After all it is their job to protect their nation. Lester right no was acting as the quasi leader of the battalion. Auburn refused the responsibility along with Bill and Millinda. Lester only accepted it because he was left with no choice. Then Lester took of on his own and walk in the top of the fortress walls in pretense of guarding. There he gloomily look at the sky and reflected on what happen. It was a disaster, and all he did was support his comrades while he stays back covering them. And because of that Chief and Deva died, Auburn and Millinda is half broken and Bill have bonded with RMTEVernonsuit because of the damage on his body. Lester sat down and glance a the grounds and gave a big sigh. In the time Kevin would done his repairs, they would have to go on a suicide run. This sight would be the last thing he would remember if he perishes...And so Lester glanced at the sky and prayed for any thread of hope he can find.. Chapter 6 - The Battle With the repairs being done, the 4 figures boarded the transport machine and improvised the Chief''s turrets into the the top of the vehicle and have Keven attach it there firmly. With the machine looking further away. Kevin glanced at them and prayed them good luck and then walk inside the fortress and sealing all the gates and fortress coating the it with thick metal. This was the function that the mechanics know off.It was handed into them in hope they would stay behind and guard the iron box of fortress to death. Kevin lied to the battalion, being locked in the closet was just a pretense made by Kevin. As the Third Head Mechanic, it was his duty to maintain the weapons and machines to its best condition. The Fortress is also a ''''machine'''' therefore he must maintain it till he can''t. So Kevin headed into the control tower and open a hidden pod. Then he entered the pod and lay his body inside the pod, then with a quick mechanical sound, two needle like rods stab into the back of his head and then with a sound of electricity buzzing. The Body of Kevin turn lifeless as he offered his electrons to the fortress in order to give it life and become a living fortress. Then with him as the operator of the fortress, he was reminded that the body of Bill was still on the fortress and quickly scanned for it. When he found out that Bill was being preserved and his brainwaves are still intact then he tighten the seal of the pod which Bill''s body lies to and sealed it with 2 more layers of of protection. Now all that is left is to wait for the army of barbarians to come. . . . ****** With the roaring engine, the transport machine streak the land in haste. With the any terrain compatibility of the vehicle . They cross the desert effortlessly and was currently following the marks that the barbarians left on the current wasteland. Surveying the are carefully, Millinda was on full alert mode as she quickly glances at any movement that comes into contact with her eyes. That state of paranoia that Millinda right now was terrifying, due to the experience in the fortress she have become more focused and have never broken her concentration even once. And Bill who is still holding the vehicles spoiler, he was also preparing for any threat that might surprise them, after all they will never know when something pops up and attack them. It was better being safe than sorry. Towards the heat, Lester was squinting his eyes out in order to see the land ahead of him. The wasteland they were in right now was akin to a dungeon fall of traps. One misstep might end with their deaths or worse! Chapter 7 - The Fall Seeing the change of pace within the army of barbarians. Lester stepped on the energy pedal of the vehicle and with a loud sound akin to a roar sounded inside the engine of the vehicle ,its sudden increase of speed, the tires then made a screeching sound as it drove through the grassland with speed akin to a bullet! And with a roar all the Overlord Types then charge towards the metal head object! Seeing the Barbarians heading towards them, Bill then move towards the front and crouched into a sprint position. Looking at the overlords getting closer Bill then sheathed his weapons and then jumped towards the enemies! Bill raised his weapon then aimed at the enemies throats! And with a quick dodge from the overlord type, Bill then sidestepped to the right and leap right through the enemy''s flank and brought down his weapon to his neck! Then like a knife to a butter the overlord type barbarian was beheaded with a single swing! Then Bill stepped back and return to his position and started crouching again, as Millinda fired the Turrets upon the normal barbarians and piercing through their body without a single missed! So using the weapon that is within is hands, Bill then jump off the vehicle and like a mowing machine, carved his way through groups of barbarians like butter! Halfway through the horde, the machine was now dyed in blood as it cruelly mows down anyone who stood in its path!
