Now let¡¯s check out this book¡­ Hmmm¡­ It seems this book talks about these different ranks and also has a cultivation method and some sort of skill. It says that in this world, all people are able to cultivate their spirit, which will help them become stronger and live longer lives. The ranks from weakest to strongest are: Normal, Spirit Apprentice, Spirit Disciple, Spirit Warrior, Spirit Knight, Spirit King, Spirit Lord, and Spirit Emperor. These are the ranks that exist, but there might be others above or special ranks that are unknown to people. All ranks except Normal can be separated into three sub-ranks: Low, Medium, and High. I guess I¡¯m currently a Normal with an expected lifespan of 100 years right now, but once I start cultivating I guess I¡¯ll become a Low Spirit Apprentice with a lifespan of 110 years. It seems that most people aren¡¯t able to cultivate at all, and have a maximum life of 100 years. It also states monster ranks too. It seems that the same except they start from the Disciple rank. From lowest to highest the ranks are: Soul Disciple, Soul Warrior, Soul Knight, Soul King, Soul Lord, and Soul Emperor. It also looks like a Low Soul Disciple monster would be around 2 times stronger than a Low Spirit Disciple cultivator, but monsters usually have 1/2 the lifespan of a cultivator at the same level. This method is called Emperor¡¯s Way¡­ It says that you¡¯ll become many times stronger than others at the same level, but the path of cultivation will become a hundred times more difficult. The special skill series that is in this book is called Shadow of the Demon. There is a only 1 skill, but I¡¯m guessing it¡¯s special because it says that you are able to create more advanced skills from this skill. This basic skill is called Demonic Energy, it allows the user to harness the Demonic Energy in the surroundings. This Energy can be changed to fit the user¡¯s will. AHhh¡­ It¡¯s a shame that I can only start learning this skill when I become a Medium Spirit Disciple. I chop the rodents into chunks for the Poultrigni. I mix up the meat with the grain and I bring the bucket of the shack and into the pen where the Poultrignises are kept. Surprisingly there are only 3 of these monsters here, so I guess even these lesser ranked monsters are somewhat uncommon. The Poultrignis would look just like a chicken only if it didn¡¯t have dark red and orange feathers and razor sharp teeth within its beak. Wow these little chicks are actually crowding around me¡­ they are actually pretty cu- OWWHHHH. Did it just bite me?? I try to shoo away the Poultrigni but that didn¡¯t do anything. So, I throw the mixture of grain and rotten meat a distance away from me, and that did the trick, the chickens rushed to that side, pecking and gobbling down the grain and meat. While they are busy, I climb out of the pen. These things are dangerous, I think I know why I was hired by Mr. Balos. He knew that I was a Spirit Apprentice, since Normal ranked people could be brutally murdered by these monsters. It¡¯s time to feed the Aquacertas, they like to eat fish and insects. I head to the shack, and like I expected, I found what I needed. I grabbed two large fishes and chopped them into tiny pieces. I threw the fish into a bucket and I then found a different barrel, which contained an assortment of dead insects, like mosquitos, beetles, and others. I mixed the insects with the fish and carried the bucket to the Aquacertas¡¯ area. Their fenced in area was mainly mud and had a large pond in the middle. There was around 9 Aquacertas, 5 were swimming in the pond and 4 were playing in the mud. The Aquacerta is just like a lizard except it had a sail-like ridge running along its spine, from the back of it¡¯s head to the tip of it¡¯s tail. I hurled a larger half of the fish and insect mix into the pond and the rest onto the mud, near the Aquacertas. Next is time for the Caelups, who enjoy eating birds and the meat of monsters. I head to the shack and once again I find the birds and meat. To make sure these wolves have enough to eat, I exit the shack and enter their area, I count 3 Caelups, and I then head back to the shack. I grab 3 decent sized birds, one for each wolf, and I then look for the monster meat. It seems that these thick slices of meat are from another lesser ranked monster that resembles a cow. I slice the thick slice of cow meat into strips. and throw the meat into the bucket. I then head out to the Caelups with the three birds and the monster meat strips. With a closer look I see that the Caelups are still pups and are incredibly adorable, they just rushed up to me, licking and running around me. I feed each Caelups a bird and also a couple of strips of meat. They are delighted! Hohhhh¡­ I see they¡¯ve taken a liking to you. (???) Who¡¯s there!! *turns around* Ahh! Mr. Balos! You frightened me just now! (Mevirs) Hahaha! I just came over to see how you were doing. I also want to clarify that the monsters only have to be fed twice a day, once in the morning, and the other time at dusk. (Balos) *Balos leaves* Oh! Is that so? I think I¡¯m just going to stay here and practice my cultivation since I have nothing else to do. I position myself into the Introductory Form of Emperor¡¯s Way, sitting down, crossed legs, and my hands pressed together. I need to be able to grasp the 1st Form by myself since it doesn¡¯t say in the book. 5 Hours have passed and it is now noon. I¡¯ve finally grasped the 1st Form, I slowly move my right hand and position it above my left hand. It seems this is the 1st Form. Another 5 hours have passed, and it is now dusk. It is once again time that I feed the little monsters. My cultivation has only taken a few steps but I already feel that I am way stronger than before.

Then I see an Aquacerta that is different than the others, it is dark grey and was hidden in the mud. It is different from the others because of it¡¯s color and also that it doesn¡¯t have a sail on it¡¯s back, instead it has multiple spines running along it¡¯s back. This Aquacerta is even smaller than the others. It seems that this Aquacerta has been ostracized by the other Aquacertas. I feel a connection with it¡­ I see myself in it¡­ being forsaken by the others of my kind¡­ I chose him. Finally at the Caelups pen, I choose a special looking one. This Caelups has a silver like fur, and has blue eyes, instead of the normal brown. It seems this Caelups is the Alpha Male, it is also the largest of all of them. I gather the three of them and bring them over to Mr. Balos¡¯ House. Hoohhh!!! So you choose these three! (Balos) Yes, these are the ones I''ve chosen. (Mevirs) Okay, bring them inside my house. I have a question Mevirs, who is paying for your tuition? (Balos) The Ronts family is, I¡¯m good friends with Adaline! (Mevirs) That''s good, if it''s the Ronts family, the school you''re going to is probably the Royal Spirit Academy. They don¡¯t allow pets there, but they do allow familiars. (Mevirs) A Life Contract is when the monsters acknowledge their master and make a contract in which when the master dies, they also die. This contract also helps the monsters to more easily evolve and grow into stronger forms! (Balos) I look at the palm of my left hand. There are 4 circles on it. 1 in the center and 3 on the sides, forming a triangle. Chain-like images connect the 3 outer circles to the 1 in the middle. One circle is red with the image of a bird, another is the color blue with the image of a lizard, and the last is the color silver with the image of a wolf. The circle in the center looks like a vortex of red, blue, and silver, combining into the color black. Just so you know, the three monsters can be summoned back and forth from the Spirit Realm, you just need to call upon them with your mind and they will appear. (Belos) I focus on my left hand and I think ¡°RETURN¡±. Then just like magic, the three monsters turned into color beams and entered my left hand. My palm¡¯s symbols are different now, there is only 1 large circle with the colors red, blue, and silver circling around an orb of black. Since you are no longer working here, I won¡¯t pay you, but I''ll give you 100 Aurnia so you can nurture your familiars. How is that possible? This boy¡¯s punch was way weaker than the previous one, but it reached 5 levels? (Mevirs) There are, but these are mainly basic spells, most of the higher ranked skills aren¡¯t kept in the library, and they are kept for the older students. There are also incredibly rare skill books that the winners of the tournament receive along with their prizes. (Old Librarian) The Old Librarian leads me to another area, where the shelves are packed with different elemental skill books. I¡¯ve organized these books so that each element is separated from each other, so it¡¯s easier to find what you need. I will be leaving you now, if you need anything else, feel free to ask. (Old Librarian) Since I can¡¯t learn Shadow of the Demon yet, I¡¯ll focus on learning the 4 basic elements. I look over all the different skill books, and I choose 4, 1 for each element. For fire, I chose Ember Wisp, which creates a small ball of fire from your finger or hand. For water, I chose Aqua Orb, which forms an orb out of water. For wind, I chose Wind Arrow, which forms an arrow of wind. Lastly for earth, I chose the spell Earth Armor, which protects the caster from outside attacks.

My name¡¯s Bryan, I see you have a Cultivation Tower Pass. (Bryan) My name is Mevirs, and yes this is a Cultivation Tower Pass¡­ (Mevirs) Well it¡¯s really weird that you entered the front door like that, you do know that empty room in the dorms has an engraving on the floor. This is actually a teleportation gate for those with a Cultivation Tower Pass, it can teleport you to your floor. (Bryan) Well it doesn¡¯t really matter now, my Cultivation Tower Pass is #500¡­ (Mevirs) #500!?! That means you¡¯re that genius new kid right?? (Mevirs) I enter the fire element room, hoping to learn Ember Wisp first. I open the Ember Wisp skill book and I begin to read.
"Ember Wisp" Allows the user to create and control a small ball of fire. Focus your mana into your finger or palm, and imagine the mana exploding from you. After doing this, quickly condense the energy to form a small ball of fire.
I did as what the book said, but I continually fail. I focus on my fire element mana and focus it into my right index finger, then I have it ¡°explode¡± from my finger. I then quickly command the released mana to condense. It is able to condense finally, but all that appears is a candle like flame, then poof it¡¯s gone. It¡¯s weird that I¡¯m not able to make it last long, is it because my body doesn¡¯t have enough mana?? I think for a while until I finally realize¡­ If I¡¯m able to utilize the mana in my surroundings to support my own mana, won¡¯t the flame last longer? I once again focus my fire element mana into my right index finger, and I let it explode out. As I¡¯m condensing it, I also bring in the surrounding mana into my spell¡­ Gro¡­ Bes¡­ Ag¡­ Nes! (Mevirs) These words came naturally as a flame the size of an apple appeared above my right index finger. I command the Ember Wisp to move around me, and it does as I say! I think to myself, if I¡¯m able to make multiple Ember Wisps, won¡¯t I be incredibly strong? Next, I tried to make the Ember Wisp that is spinning around me to separate into two pieces. It slowly separates¡­ YES it works!!! But the size is rather smaller than before¡­ I manipulated the surrounding mana and made the 2 Ember Wisps grow larger¡­ Now both are the size of the original¡­ but I¡¯m not able to make it grow any further. Is this the maximum size of the Ember Wisp that the spell can maintain? If I¡¯m not able to increase the size, I¡¯ll just increase the amount! But my current way of increasing the amount of Ember Wisps is really inefficient. I extinguish the 2 Ember Wisps and I once again focus. Instead of focussing my fire element mana into one finger, I focus ? of it into each of my 5 fingers, then I let them all explode, and I manipulate the surrounding fire mana to help condense them. Gro¡­ Bes¡­ Ag¡­ Nes¡­ FIVE! (Mevirs) IT¡¯S A SUCCESS! Now I have 5 Ember Wisps the size of grapes floating around me. It seems that when I chant the spell, I can specify the amount I want to summon! But the downside is that I don¡¯t have enough mana to support 5 apple-sized Ember Wisps, and instead, they are grape sized.
