I continued to struggle, until I broke free from the invisible force. I then swam back into the darkness. "MORTAL!! YOU DARE TO DENY MY GIFT OF LIVING IN HEAVEN TO YOU!?" "SHUT UP!! You''ve never done a damn thing to help me and it seems you can''t even help me forget my revenge! I DON''T FEAR YOU!!! YOU WILL FEAR ME!!!" I then dived further and further into the darkness, until I finally found what I was looking for: power. A red orb of energy was floating in the darkness, giving off a faint red light. When I was researching how to perform reincarnation when I died, I discovered an ancient text that told me about this place. I am currently in Limbo, the realm between Heaven, Hell, and the Mortal Realm. According to the text, deep inside Limbo there are orbs that contain power beyong belief. It said that the orbs were the powers of all mortals left behind when they died. The text didn''t say much more though. I began to meditate using my unique cultivation technique, The Fearful Madness Cultivation Technique. I began to absorb every orb in the realm. "MORTAL!!! YOU DARE TO DISOBEY ME AND TAKE ALL THIS POWER?!?!" "YES I DO!!!! NOW DISAPPEAR!!! I''M BUSY!!!" Shouting this, I create a barrier using some of the red essence, which I have dubbed "FEAR", and then I resume by meditation. Suddenly, I am enveloped in darkness once again. I noticed that I had absorbed EVERY SINGLE ESSENCE IN LIMBO!!! "Yes! The FEAR is mine!!!" I would''ve grinned if I had a material body. "Just wait, ''heroes'', I''m coming for you!" Chapter 2 - Summoning?! Why me?! HAHAHAHAHA!! I did it!! I reincarnated myself with my own power!! After calming down, I realized quite a few things: 1) This is definitely the same world I am from, judging from the fact that the same type of status window appears. 2) I am apparently a Spirit! This is great because Spirits are known for their ability to evolve a virtually infinite number of times. Spirits even have the potential to become GODS!! 3) Not only did I get insanely lucky and reincarnated as a FREE Spirit, I was even reincarnated as a Unique Variant! I have never heard of a Darkness Spirit before! 4) I have started with some overpowered abilities! C Rank resistances are incredibly hard to get, and I have 4 of them! I have an F Rank resistance to Light, but that''s to be expected: I am a Darkness Spirit after all! However, I have an IMMUNITY to Darkness!, What are the chances! I also have E Rank resistances to all physical atttacks. The craziest thing is that I have 1 stamina! However, I have a stamina regen of 1 stamina per second, so I will never run out of stamina! By the way, you are born with resistances and they can never be changed. 5) I seem to have forgotten my name, but I remember everything else. Maybe I should name myself...nah, I''ll wait until I''m stronger. 6) I appear to be inside a cavern of sorts. There are no lights, but I can see perfectly! Wierd! 7) I have the appearance of a black orb that glows with a red aura. 8) I seem to be alone. I can''t wait to evolve! Once I get strong enough, I will pay back those bastards who betrayed me in full! Wait, how am I gonna evolve if there isn''t anything I can gain experience from?! Crap!? CONGRATULATIONS! Chapter 3 - Familiar Contract?! Suddenly, a glowing blue light enveloped me. Before I could even think, I found myself in a new location: A F***ING CAGE!!! I then saw who summoned me: it was a young girl! She was wearing a beautiful blue dress with that went down to her ankles. She had pretty green eyes and light brown hair that reached her shoulders. She had a short stature, about 5''2", and appeared to be about 10 years old. Judging from the way she is dressed, I think I can assume that she is a noble of some sort, perhaps even royalty! Oh, she''s talking to someone. Hey, why do you look so scared? What is it?! IS THERE SOMETHING ON MH FACE?!?! Wait...she''s pointing at me a shaking...I''M SCARING HER??! I suddenly notice that there is a mirror on the wall. Reflecting off of it is a horrifying sight: there''s a HUGE snake with pitch black scales! It has creepy orange eyes and is giving off an faintly visible reddish purple aura, and it is AT LEAST 8 or 9 feet long! IS THAT ME?!?! ...I look badass... YOU HAVE BEEN OFFERED THE NAME "FEAR": WOULD YOU LIKE TO ACCEPT THIS NAME? Y / N YES!! That name is EXACTLY what I want! NAME ACCEPTED: YOU HAVE FULFILLED THE REQUIREMENTS FOR EVOLUTION: THERE IS 1 PATH CURRENTLY AVAILABLE: BEGINNING EVOLUTION I suddenly glow with a red light and my body begins to change. Surprisingly, it isn''t painful this time! Then it hit me...WHY AM I EVOLVING AGAIN?!?! ALL I DID WAS GET A NAME!!! Screw it! Then, the Princess begins to talk, and I somehow understand her! Perhaps it''s because of the familiar contract! "Do you understand me?" I nod my head. The Princess gasps, and then calms down. "Why did one as powerful as you accept the familiar contract of a failure like me?" Huh? Failure? Seriously? Wait, one of her titles is seriously "Failure Princess"! I speak back to her through the telepathy created by our contract. "I didn''t have a choice: I looked at my eyes in the reflection and nearly died." The Princess''s jaw drops, and she stares at me. Chapter 4 - Failure Princess "So, why are you called the Failure Princess?" Silence...dead silence... The Princess starts to tear up. CRAP!! I''M SO TACTLESS!!! The man who I still can''t understand rushes over to the Princess and appears to be trying to console her. She slowly stops crying and faintly smiles. The man then glares at me with an angry face and stomps over to me. Huh? He appears to be trying to lecture me. What''s he saying? Whatever, let''s eat him. That should shut him up. I shoot my head down at a lightning-fasr speed and open my mouth. "STOOOOOPPP!!!" The Princess screams at me to stop, and surprisingly, I do! It''s not like I had a choice in the matter, she''s my master now after all. Damn it. Huh, the man seems to be in shock. Well, I can understand why: even the bravest human would be terrified if he was about to be eaten by a massive Basilisk which suddenly stops, mouth still wide open. Heh...maybe I should''ve thought things through some more... I then noticed that Princess Alyssa was giving off a terrifying aura. I kid you not, I was TERRIFIED! If she decided to, she could kill me and I wouldn''t be able to bat an eyelid at her! Man, for someone who is trying to become fear, I probably seem quite pathetic right now! Oh, it appears that I forgot to mention my goal. I decided that after I kill those 4 "heroes" I will ascend and become the embodiment of fear for all sentient races. That will be my ultimate revenge! Chapter 6 Part 1 - Starting my revenge! The Princess is staring at me in shock. Her face turns fearful and angry once she realizes what was happening. She''s on the verge of tears! HA!! Hello, Princess Alyssa, such a fine day, isn''t it? "Y-you can t-talk?" Now I can...I have evolved. You are no longer my master and I am no longer your familiar. My face turns angry, and my eyes begin to glow. YOU WILL PAY FOR THE HUMILIATION AND TORTURE I HAVE SUFFERED THROUGH! She turns around, trying to run, but she finds herself unable to move. I will make you watch as everyone and everything you hold dear is completely wiped from this planet!! I then begin killing all the guards in the room in the most brutal ways I can think of. After I brutally torture and then devour all of the guards, I turn back to the Princess. She''s sobbing miserably. She sees me looking at her and begins to yell at me. "WHY?!?! WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS?!?! WHAT DID WE EVER DO TO YOU?!?!" HOW DARE YOU!! YOU THINK THAT YOU AREN''T AT FAULT?! YOU IMPRISONED ME, TOOK AWAY MY FREEDOM, ENSLAVED ME AS A FAMILIAR, AND YET YOU STILL THINK YOU AREN''T AT FAULT?!?! The Princess, hearing all this, begins to cry uncontrollably. I lift my tail away and examine his body. Huh, looks like the impact killed him. Suddenly, the armor starts to glow. It fixes itself and somehow heals William, even reviving him! "Ugh..." Suddenly, I hear a voice yell out at me! "I WON''T LET YOU!!!" The moment I heard this voice, all my instincts screamed at me: DODGE!!! So I listened to them, and I''m glad I did! Because the moment that voice yelled, a giant beam of light shot past my head, right where I was before! Wait, light? LIGHT MAGIC?!?! Sh*t. I turn around to see who attacked me with that light beam and I see a middle-aged man wearing strange green armor that gives even ME the chills. I wonder who this guy is? Then, the Princess answers my question. "FATHER!!?" Crap, the King himself?! I thought he was away! WHEN DID HE GET BACK?!?! The reason why I am so terrified is because this King is known as the "Light Warrior" and has the Blessing of the Light Goddess, greatly boosting his affinity towards light magic, to the point where even a warrior''s weak magic spell could be turned into...a freaking LASER BEAM!! But never mind that, I just want that armor! I wonder how much experience I''ll get if I kill the King and eat that armor...crap, he''s attacking again. "DIE, EVIL SPAWN!!!" Jumping into the air, the King swings his gigantic war axe down towards my head. I dodge at the last second, noticing that the axe has light magic imbued in it. OF ALL THE PEOPLE TO RETURN HERE IT HAD TO BE HIM!!!! Before I can counter-attack, I feel an incredibly strong pain in my left flank. Chapter 7 - Complete Obliteration Hey everyone, I was wondering whether I should post longer chapters with less frequency or shorter chapters like right now with more frequency. Good luck! - MultiBlitz15 ------------------------------- My body began to glow with an insanely bright light! I felt as the muscles in my body were destroyed and reformed, stronger than ever! My eyes grew huge, and then they split in half, giving me 4 eyes! My 3 horns on each side of my head which were sticking straight out curled backwards ever so slightly and I grew 6 more horns shaped in a circle on the top of my head, each on of them curving outwards to make hook. The horns on the sides of my head began to drip venom, which sizzled as it hit the floor and corroded it''s way through the castle floors down to the ground. My entire body began to grow longer, and longer, and LONGER! I instinctively know that I am 115 feet long. My fangs grew to be a massive 10 feet long! However, they began to shrink all of a sudden! I then realized that I can control the size of my fangs to a degree! I also grew 3 more rows of normal teeth behind my current teeth. I noticed that each tooth dripped venom, just not a powerful as the fang''s venom. I felt my scales grow harder and more durable, to the point where I felt that even a magic enhanced weapon such as the Holy Sword wouldn''t be able to penetrate them! Suddenly, as my evolution finished, the light around my body blasted outwards generating a massive shockwave! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!! The entire castle imploded on itself as I had completely destroyed its foundations with my evolution! I heard the screams of the castle''s residents as they died, crushed by the falling rubble and debris. I noticed the damn William Heptic in the corner, alive thanks to his armor. An evil smile formed on my face as I rushed towards him. ---William Heptic''s POV--- We finally killed that monster!! The King arrived just in time to kill it! That damn beast crippled MY Alyssa and nearly killed ME! The great ME! How DARE he?! Wait, what''s that? NO WAY!! IT''S STILL ALIVE?!?! I GOTTA WARN THE KING!! But before I could do that, someone had beaten me to it. However, the king was swallowed my that DAMN MONSTER!! No way...it''s CHEWING on the KING?!?! Snakes can''t chew, yet it''s doing just that, and it''s evening smiling?! ...IT''S ENJOYING THIS?!?! Suddenly, the monster began to glow, and I, along with everyone else, was hit with a massive shockwave. I died, but thanks to the Holy Armor I was revived. However, the first thing I see as I regain consciousness is...the basilisk. Sh*t, that basilisk is too big...AND IT''S GRINNING AND COMING AFTER ME!!! ---End POV--- I rush at Nico''s descendant and I wrap around him with my tail, crushing him slowly. He dies, but thanks to that armor he revives endlessly and then dies again slowly. I keep him wrapped up in my tail and I charge at the collapsing walls. I learnt a new feature of my fangs, the ability to spray my corrosive venom out of them. I used this ability to "spit" venom at the walls of the castle. I slither my way out, and am suddenly blinded by a bright light! Crap, an enemy attack?! Where is it!? Wait...why don''t I feel any pain? It then occurs to me...I''m an idiot. It''s the sun! I mentally facepalm myself and continue escaping from the castle, or what USED to be the castle! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE GAINED THE TITLE "KINGDOM CRUSHER"! CONGRATULATIONS ON RECEIVING YOUR FIRST TITLE THAT BOOSTS YOUR STATS! "KINGDOM CRUSHER" BOOSTS YOUR STRENGTH BY 1000 AND YOUR LUCK BY 100! ...awesome...anyway, I need to get away from here before some damn monster slayer shows up! Monster slayers are really powerful people that dedicate their whole lives to killing monsters. They often having the blessing of one of the gods or goddesses who hate the monsters, which makes them even MORE problematic! Anyway, after slithering my way out of here, I notice that there is a huge forest nearby! It looks super ominous...PERFECT! Once I enter the forest, I notice something unfortunate...it appears that Nico''s damn descendant stopped reviving...and I crushed him beyond recognition... NOOOOOOOO I WANTED TO GET PROPER REVENGE!!! Before I can further lament about my loss, I hear a powerful voice...not as powerful as me though! WHO''S DARES TRESPASS UPON MY TERRITORY?! This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. A large basilisk creeps out of the trees towards me. It has ruby red scales that appear to be EXTREMELY durable, purple eyes with T-shaped pupils, and appears to be about 40 feet long. An Armored Basilisk, huh? YOU DARE INSULT YOUR KING?! It was worth a shot...I mean, I AM a King Basilisk now... I''M SO SORRY MY LORD! PLEASE FORGIVE THIS INSOLENT LITTLE SNAKE! ...eh? -------------------- So, what do you guys think? His first encounter with another basilisk reveals that he is truly a king! Also, since I couldn''t figure out a way to implement it in the story, I will tell you why his death stare didn''t work last chapter. At the sound of my booming voice, the Armored Basilisk cowers, terrified, but he manages to force out a reply. Of course I am willing to listen to the story of a royal being such as yourself. You seriously took down an entire castle and ate the Light Warrior?! You''re a savior to reptiles everywhere! Don''t you feel disgusted, knowing that I am one of those hated humans? After all that you have done, even receiving the blessing of the Mad God, you are indeed our savior! Is getting a name really that big a deal?! After I got her to stop thanking me, I asked her to direct me to the Reptile Kingdom''s capital city, Dragonscale City. She happily complied and brought me there. It took several weeks of travelling, due to the fact that, as an Armored Basilisk, Nemesis is naturally slow. She always apologized profusely for this, but I always told her to stop, and that it actually works in my favor as I get to see the sights! By sights I mean all the inhabitants of the Reptile Kingdom! I saw many beasts, but the most powerful being that I saw so far was a unique variant mutation: a Twin Frost Basilisk! This was the only being that didn''t bow it''s head to me, which was a nice change. We struck up a conversation and I found out that she was sent to investigate the chaos in the nearby human kingdom. I told her what happened and how I was responsible, and her reactions was priceless! After she got over the shock, she told me that I will be welcomed as a hero in the capital if what I say is true. Anyway, after all this travelling, we finally arrived at the capital. I then part ways with Nemesis, who reluctanly, and with a lot of crying and screaming, leaves me to travel back to her territory. The capital is AWESOME!! There are powerful reptilian monsters EVERYWHERE!! The weakest monster I saw was a Greater Basilisk, which is still an S-Rank monster! The strongest I saw was definitely the unique variant of the 9-Headed Hydra, a Greater Darkfire 9-Headed Hydra! This being is stronger than me by leaps and bounds, and I''m an peak SS-Ranked Monster in terms of overall power! I was wandering along and staring at the sights when...I was attacked. Sigh...it seems that no matter what place it is, there are always criminals. Damn, don''t they have better things to do than walk to their own deaths?! At least, that''s what I thought. ------------------ Hey readers, like the cliffhanger? Probably not! Is the story going to fast for you? Well, I am (not) sorry to say that this is my style of writing. Anyway, to the main point of this message: the next chapter MIGHT be released today. I''m not sure yet. Hmph, don''t underestimate me!! Yelling this, he charges at me at an astonishing speed! My reflexes kick in and I whip my tail around to counter his attack. However, my tail gets blocked by one of the henchmen, a Lesser Wyvern! What strength! Before I can react again, the mutant basilisk hits me full force with his 4 fists right in my neck! OOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!! I didn''t think it would hurt this much! Grrr...you''ll pay for this! I activate my death glare, but it gets negated by another one of the henchmen when he uses his own death glare! How is a Greater Basilisk on par with a King Basilisk!? Is it a variant?! I then get rammed by 2 different henchmen, and I lose my balance, falling to the ground. By the time I get up, I get struck by the mutant again! This time, I feel something inside me break! It hurts like HELL!!!! I lunge out with all my remaining strength and swallow 3 of the henchmen who got too close. I then lose the little bit of energy I have left, and collapse, bleeding internally. Wow...he''s not dead yet...what a monster! Taking my strongest attack twice and even managing to kill 3 of us...huh? The mutant then notices how the King Basilisk is glowing red and green. W-why is he...glowing? Panicked, the mutant jumps backwards, all his instincts screaming for him to RUN!!!! Wait...that glow...is he the Champion of the Mad God?! And he has Yggdrasil''s blessing TOO?!?! What have I done!? Before he can even think another word, the mutant is gone. The henchmen look around, startled, and someone finally locates him: he''s being swallowed alive by the King Basilisk! Berserk mode...a mode that can only be activated by the Champion of the Mad God in a life-or-death situation. It grants the user insane power temporarily at the cost of their sanity. However, since Fear unknowingly received Yggdrasil''s blessing, he healed once he went into berserk mode so he kept his sanity! Before the other henchmen can react, they, too, are swallowed alive! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE REACHED LEVEL 1,500! YOU HAVE FULFILLED THE NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS TO BECOME A GREATER KING BASILISK! DO YOU WANT TO EVOLVE? Y / N Of course I do! I had just evolved into a Greater King Basilisk and received a HUGE increase in power! I looked more or less the same as before I evolved, except now my horns had a slight red tinge to them and my pupils changed into a wierd shape, kinda like 2 E''s back to back. Oh, and I grew bigger. Again. I think I''m at least 200 feet long now! Well, sh*t, I''m gonna have one heck of a time trying to remain inconspicous. As I examined the carnage I had caused, I felt a familiar energy, followed by a familiar glow. ...sh*t. A FREAKING SUMMONING CIRCLE?!?! AGAIN?!?! Before I can escape, I feel the unwelcome tug of a summoning, dragging me away towards the summoner. I swear, if this summoner is trying to enslave me with a familiar contract... I don''t get to finish the thought as I am whisked away into the void. ---Aurum''s POV--- My name is Aurum, and I''m a summoner. I don''t have a last name since I am a commoner, but I plan on getting one by becoming nobility! You see, I am a Beastkin from the 2-tailed fox tribe and the Beastkin value power above all else, so if I summon a powerful monster to be my familiar, I will gain a title as nobility! Althought, I am not sure if anyone will take me seriously, since I am only 8 years old. I am just very mature for my age! But before becoming nobility, I need to graduate from a prestigious summoner academy! However, to do that I need a strong familiar, which leads me to what I am doing right now: summoning a monster to become my familiar! I can only perform this ritual once in my lifetime, so if I get a weak familiar, then it''s all over. My future will be decided by this one summoning! *BOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM* What a huge explosion! The bigger the explosion, the more powerful the familiar! I have never seen an explosion so big before! Does that mean I summoned something really awesome?! I eagerly wait for the smoke to clear. As the smoke begins to disperse, I see 2 glowing red eyes glaring at me through the smoke. I froze out of fear. The smoke finally clears, and once I see what the creature I summoned is, I begin to sweat uncontrollably...this creature...what have I DONE?! It''s a Greater King Basilisk!!!! There''s NO WAY a sentient monster like that will become my familiar! Seeing what I have summoned, the people watching the ritual immediately attack me once they realize the danger of the being I have summoned. After all, if they get rid of me, the summoner, before a certain time limit is up, the monster will be desummoned! This book''s true home is on another platform. After thoroughly terrifying everyone present, I speak quietly to the girl who summoned me. "Do you want to form a Familiar Contract of Equality with me?" Shocked, the girl just stares at me. So CUTE!! She finally recovers from her shock, and nods slightly. She then asks me a question in a timid voice. "Will you promise to not hurt anyone if I make one with you?" "Sure, but only if they don''t attack you again. If they do, they will die!" "O-Okay..." The little girl, who introduced herself as Aurum, activates the spell creating the contract. Ah, don''t get me wrong, I DO NOT want to be a familiar. However, the Contract of Equality makes it so neither of us can harm the other or command the other, since we are equals, in a sense. Becoming a familiar will allow me to wander the kingdoms without being inhibited by monster slayers, and once I am done with discovering the weaknesses of the kingdoms, I will terminate the contract. I DID do all those things, but I also found out that I had the ability to shrink down to a 1 foot long version of myself! NO ONE MOCKS MY FRIEND AND GETS AWAY WITH IT!! At these words, Aurum''s eyes began to glow golden again, giving her a menacing look. (Glacies) No way...you''re the Champion of the Golden Thunder Goddess?! A grin creeps onto Aurum''s face. (Aurum) Indeed. Aurum then gestures towards me with her free arm, grinning even wider. I was on April Vacation and was busy beyond belief! Work, track meets, homework, other random stuff, etc. and so I had no time to write or, well, do anything for that matter! Sorry about that. I will still be posting daily, but if a chapter doesn''t appear, then that means that something in real life came up that takes priority, it does NOT mean that I have abandoned the fiction! Aurum and I have been waiting in the line for the admission test this ENTIRE FREAKING TIME!!! The admission test is done to examine the capabilities of the students and their familiars. It determines which class we will be put in. The classes are ranked in order of strength. The weakest class is the F - 5 Class and the strongest is the A - 1 class. All of the scales on my body have turned red and are continuously releasing large amounts of steam. My horns, eyes, head, and the tip of my tail have turned green instead of red and are giving off an insanely strong feeling of vitality. (Headmaster) N-no way! Y-y-y-you managed to a-activate the blessings!? (Fear) Correct, this is the effect of activating my blessings simultaneously! It lasts a full 30 minutes but has a 24 hour cooldown time after each usage. However, 30 minutes is more than enough time to remove the likes of YOU! We begin our attacks at the same time causing an incredible shockwave with each attack. No matter how hard she hits me, the blessings protect me to the point that I don''t feel a thing. Every time I attack, she dodges and counters! 20 minutes have passed and both of us can''t land a solid hit on the other! I am beginning to become worried, I only have 10 minutes left for this boost! If it runs out, even I won''t be able to fight this monster in human skin! This is the first time I have encountered an opponent so tough. Hmph, looks like I have no choice. I have to use THAT. It''ll take the fun out of it, but I have no choice! My death glare activates and I direct it at the headmaster.
