《The Rise of the Lightning God》 Volume 1: Chapter 1 Volume 1: Chapter 1 - The yellow orb. Bolts of lightning continuously flashed throughout the menacing dark clouds in the sky. Rain is destined to fall on this day. A day which will be remembered in history. No, not the history of this world but in another, a world that is more complicated than earth. To this world earth is like a marble out billions of planets and stars in the constellations. However this once tiny planet will birth an individual who name will resound throughout the universe. Mythical beings will fear him, ladies will want to have his child and men will be envious of him. Today the legend begins. ... Mars High school, the top highschool nationally and international, the heart and soul of it''s country. A school that only pure geniuses are only allow to attend; they can be poor or rich as long as one fits the requirement they can enter. Of course many rich families tried to persuade the school with money. However, why would the top school of any school need money? They don''t, leaving those rich families hopeless. Although the school hasn''t been open for five years it was already the top school in nation, why was that? Well it was rather one individual that caused this, Morgan Modax. Not only was he the face of Mars High school but also the top student in the international ranking. He''s the apex of students. His looks cause riot among the female populace and because of his athleticism the male populace admire him. However there are many things the people around him don''t know about him with the exception of the principal. Morgan is severely poor with only a single family left with him and that is his hospitalized grandmother. Morgan never really knew his grandmother before the incident that took his parents and older sister life. Though Morgan never meet his grandmother before he still cherish her like a true love one. But without any money how could he pay for his grandmother hospital bill? This is when the principal of Mars high school offer him a deal. A deal that''s states that the school will cover Morgan''s grandmother''s bill as long as he continue to be the number one student internationally. Of course if anyone seeing this chance would automatically accept it, Morgan wasn''t a exception. Morgan can be seen laying his head on his desk sleeping peacefully in the dream world. He visited his grandmother yesterday at the hospital to be only almost shock to death. When he visited the hospital he got the news his grandmother ill took a turn for the worst and now is in a deep coma. Fortunately her body systems and brain remained in good shaped. But he knew that it was only a matter of time before his grandmother will perish from her severe illness, he was without hope , which kept him from sleeping at night. If one look closely at him they can see bags under his eyes that showed proof that he wasn''t able to get any sleep. However the surrounding students and teacher thought that he already knew the current subject they''re learning and caused them to admire him even more. The end of the day quickly arrived, and the final bell rang it''s familiar tune, causing Morgan to jolt wide awake. His eyes immediately scan around the room and he found the students in the classroom was packing up and leaving cause him to sigh dejectly. This situation was in all too familiar for him, Morgan can''t count on his hands how many time this week he slept in class. With the way he has been sleeping in class lately it wouldn''t come to a surprise to him if his grades drop. Once again he sighed, then gather his belongings and immediately right after, he left the classroom. In a instant a female student suddenly rushed up to Morgan in a embarrassing manner and in her hands was a wrapped box with a little red bow on top. Her shivering body and lowered head make her look like she was frighten to death. "Why are you lowering your head Arina? And what with this box?" Morgan asked while looking at her strangely. "U-uuh, th-this is...p-p, please a-accept this g-gift!" Arina replied with a stutter which caused perplexed emotions in Morgan. "Please raise your head," Morgan said. She raised her head, then looked at Morgan for a split second right before adverting her gaze elsewhere out of embarrassment. He couldn''t help but smile wrly, this situation was all too familiar to him. Once every week or so his fellow female schoolmates would give him presents for unknown purposes. No matter how much Morgan think, it was impossible for him to guess why, therefore it was useless for him to drive himself crazy trying to find out the reason why. It wasn''t like if they was asking him out or anything, they just give him a present then leave. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. "Alright I''ll accept it, thank you" Morgan said he then took the box out of the female student hands with a smile. This was the only thing he could do in this kind of situation, if he was to decline it was surely break the girl''s heart and would cause an undesirable situation for him. After taking the wrapped gift, the female student quickly left with a giggle, then left with a group of her female friends who was also giggling. "So troublesome," he mumbled as his smile vanish completely. He put away the wrapped gift inside his backpack and quickly left the scene. Today, he was going to visit his grandmother''s hospital room but with this disruption will cause him to fall behind on time. When he left the school building it was already almost time for the city bus to arrive at his usual spot. The sky was looking menacing as it did earlier however he didn''t seem to notice it. The only thoughts he have was 1: to capture the bus on time and 2: visit his grandmother before the visiting hours ends, anything else was just trouble. In long strides he took his usual route where he goes to the bus stop. Fortunately, the bus had yet to arrive which caused him to breathe a gigantic sigh of relief. After a while of waiting the bus still didn''t come and it brought great uneasy feeling in him. He knew the bus should be here already yet it didn''t arrive. In fact for the last two minutes he didn''t discover any passing cars or people, it was as if he was in a deserted city. While Morgan obediently sat at the bus stop a sudden low humming echoes emerge from his bookbag. Of course he notices this and immediately rummage through his bag to find the cause. However unexpectedly he find that the humming noise coming from the wrapped gift box the female student gave him. Morgan didn''t really know what was in the box, usually the present he would get would either some chocolate or jewelry. There were even one time he got a pair of panties as a gift which he immediately threw away when he got home. He ripped the wrapping on the box in a unorthodox fashion , then he open it. Shock filled his face as he stared down at the objects in his view. It was a fist size golden orb that had beautiful inscription on it that seem to be a ancient language. Naturally he couldn''t recognize this object, but he knew that this something authentic. Unexpectedly, the orb suddenly started to shine and the humming echoes increase in pitch and frequency. The humming noise was so high that it cause Morgan to instinctively cover his ears. The orb slowly floated at eye level towards him, it then begin to quiver violently which cause the pitch to go another octave. The inscriptions on the orb like hologram floated off the object, and like a rocket it then flew and penetrate deep into Morgan''s head causing a indescribable warmth feeling to emerge in him. However the warmth feeling went from being indescribable to unbearable pain. Veins bulge on his forehead, arms, and legs. Lightning streaking across the menacing clouds coiled around each other like ancient dragons and descended upon the earth. With a flash the lightnings continuously struck the orb and cause more unbearable pain to crawl on Morgan''s skin. The pain was too unbearable for his body and it began to shed like snake skin. First it was the arms, then the rest of his body. While all this was a happening a yellow glow cloak his shedding body getting denser and denser with each passing second. There are only so much a human can take and Morgan''s body long since pass it''s limits. His kidneys shut down, then his nervous system, then his circulatory system failed, and lastly his heart popped like a balloon instantly killing him, however from Morgan''s relief expression anyone could tell that he is happy that he died, the suffering he was going through is something other people could never imagine. If it was one word that could describe that torturous feeling it would be "hell". Seconds after his death, the yellow orb swallowed Morgan''s deceased body then flew up in the sky creating a loud boom, breaking through the sound barrier and exited the earth''s atmosphere. Left behind was a scathed black cement with huge bulging cracks emerging from the it. To other people it seems that a water pipe must''ve destroyed the cement from underneath, however this place is Morgan''s grave. Though this is his grave doesn''t mean that is the ending of Morgan''s story, rather it''s the contrary, this is his beginning. Volume 1: Chapter 2 Volume 1: Chapter 2 - New body & Fused soul Inside a vast forest, was a youth laying motionless on the ground. He looked to be 16 years old, and gave off a aura of death. The youth had short black hair and eyes. Although he looked quite handsome, he was obviously a poor, dead kid. A speeding beam of light quickly descended upon the ground breaking through the sound barrier creating a loud boom and cause clamor to arise throughout the forest. Birds thousands of birds flew from the trees while beasts roar. The beam of light in reality is in fact a fast moving golden orb, but because of the friction in the atmosphere, cause fire and heat to cloak the orb making it look like a speeding beam of light. The course of the beam of light is in directions towards the corpse of the deceased youth, upon impact, the orb penetrate through the youth head. The youth body spasm violently as veins and his muscles bulges with vigor. A yellow aura cloak the now spasming body of the youth, this lasted only for a short while right before it to penetrate into him. The moment it penetrate through the youth skin, his hair slowly grew to shoulder length black hair, his eyes went from being black dull and lifeless to golden yellow filled with vigor. The youth skin went from being cold and pale as dry ice to warm and slightly less pale. Obviously the youth body gain back his life. Nevertheless the youth overall physique and aura made a vast change then before. If one would call the youth old appearance handsome then they will now call him a peerless beauty. His aura no longer reek death but rather he has the aura of a thousands Suns. Golden runes lit up like a bon fire suddenly appeared on the youth body and the word lightning plastered itself on the youth head, it however lasted a single second before vanishing as if it had never appeared. Is what then about 10 minutes later, the youth slightly moved then sat up, his face was full of confusion, his eyes unfocused as well. Obviously, the youth had yet to gain composure. He sat there in stupefaction for a long period of time, after a while the youth brought both his hands towards his face and begin to murmur to himself but also as if he was talking to someone. "I am Nullius zelwart...No, I am Morgan Modax.." "I''m a poor orphan.. No, I''m a highschool student" "Year of birth is 23456...no 2098" ".....!?" The youth stood up out of balance and leaned on the nearby tree for support. Currently the youth was utterly confuse, who was he? Nulluis Zelwart? Or Morgan Modax? He could clearly remember about the events that went through both of his lives. As Nulluis Zelwart, he remember the time his village was overrun by magical beast and he was the only one to survive which he soon regretted. No love one was left alive with him, his mother , father, sister, and brother was all gone, and as a beggar no one took pity on him so he starved to death in this isolated forest. However as Morgan Modax, he remember being in a world without magical beast, with the only one being a major threat to humanity was humanity itself. His family also died to a unfortunate accident but he still had a sickly member left. Both of his lives was tragic, all his loves one died. He couldn''t make heads or tails out of the current situation he''s in. Could it be he had to turn over a new leaf? What was his true Identity? Why could he remember his two lives? While the youth was trying to discover his true identity, in his soul realm there was two souls(flames) clashing violently with on another. One was a fist size soul that was grayish black while the other was the size of three fist with the radiant color yellow. The yellow soul was Morgan Modax and the grey one was Nullius Zelwart. "Clang! Clang! Clang!" The two Souls continuously clash against the other, with every hit light would flash with radiance. In another clash or two, the grayish soul begin two weaken and loose is dominant power. Not wasting time the yellow soul in a blink, crash full force against it with the intent of finishing it off, however suddenly a flash of light spread throughout the soul realm that lasted for a minute or so. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it When the light subsided into the darkness there was only one soul left, no it wasn''t a gray one nor the yellow one, but a mixture of both. The outside of it was a radiant yellow but the center of it was dukk grey with little specs of yellow. And it was giving off a vigor aura. ... At the same time the souls fused a explosion sound rang out into the youth ears, causing him to kneel with his eyes close because of the excruciating pain of two souls fusing, his radiant yellow eyes suddenly grew a shad of gray in them. His hair towards the end slowly change into the color grey as well. The youth stood up once again. However this time there wasn''t any trace of confusion on his face. "So this... Could it be that I transported to another world after my death and took over another person body? This should be the only reason I''m like this, the reason why I gained another person memories....sorry grandmother it look like this grandson of yours can help you any longer," he murmured. With the help of his memories and the combination of Nullius memories, he can knew that the both of them met an unfortunate end but had like a miracle fused souls and gain a new life. However no matter how much data he can gather from his memories, he couldn''t find out the reason why he and this unfortunate teenager fused together. Nevertheless how he end up in a different world. ''Well if one can''t understand the reason, one must know when to give up'' Morgan solemnly thought to himself. After dusting himself off, he chose a random direction and set off. He knew nothing good would come out of it if he was to stay in this forest any longer. Though he doesn''t sense any beast in proximity, it was always better to keep caution then be careless. Showing carelessness will cause deaths and that''s how all those powerful superheroes end up dead. Carelessness is a bitch. .... "So this world is called Zulain....." As Morgan walk through the forest, flashes of memories about this world slowly came to him. At first it seem vague but overtime it became clear to him. He concentrated on the memories until eventually he was able to fully understand them. First off all this world is called Zulain which settle six races within it: Humans, Elves, Dragons, Demons, and Beastman. Also there are three Empires in this world: Basuria empire, the Human Empire, Naziria Empire, the Elven Empire, and the Mulane Empire, the beastman Empire. Magic exist in this world in the form of what they called Mana and there are nine mana/magic attributes: Water, Wind, Earth, Fire, Light, Dark, Ice, and Lightning. Humans, Elves, Beastman, and Demons if they''re to learn magic would be divided into two categories: Mages and Warriors. The ratio of Mages to warrior could said to be 9:1 which is a devastating difference, meaning that most likely Mages is what truly control the world. However, even though there are a huge amount of Mages, there is also a fair amount of Warriors that shouldn''t be look down upon on. Nevertheless that the king of humans is a Warrior himself. In the bodies of all beings is a core that store mana, it is called a Mana core. Right, Mages and Warriors, they''re divided into six core stages: red, orange, green, blue, indigo, and violet. It is also separated into three substage: Early, Mid, and Late. All in all to Morgan, this world is rather similar to those fantasy worlds in Japanese novels. Though he really doesn''t interest himself in these type of things, right now he would have to use that knowledgeable in order to survive in this world. "Now what to do..." Volume 1: Chapter 3 Volume 1: Chapter 3 - Option 3 After quickly discerning the information about Zulain, Morgan continued to walk through the forest quite forest. However the quietness didn''t ease his mind. He can recall from his fused memories that this forest should be the residence of low and high rank Mana beasts. Something definitely wasn''t right, wasn''t it too quite? Though he had this train of thought, he continued the leisure stroll through the quite forest. It was a good stroll. However all good things must come to a end, in Morgan''s case it was indeed true. Silence was no longer in the air as Morgan''s ears perk up and heard faint audible sounds reaching within them. This was rather was supposed to be a happy event for Morgan, for he would''ve found civilization, but this wasn''t the case. The faint sounds was sounds of death, the sounds of metal on metal slamming with one another. Morgan pondered on what to do until he found a conclusion, it was a rather quick ponder ''It''ll be best for me to avoid that kind of confrontation'' he thought while he nodded slightly. Turning the opposite direction of the conflict, he begin to walk, well try to walk but was stop by pulling force, it something in the similar the force of gravity that pulled him. It was about three times the force of gravity back on earth! "Well, well look what we have here, one of the capture slave tried to escape" Upon hearing this masculine force, Morgan turned his gaze over to the man. It was a black cloaked individual, he couldn''t see his face but within the individual hand was a sword tainted with blood. Morgan took a couple of steps back with caution, he knew his situation wasn''t good and now he was face with only two options: to be captured then be sell into slavery or show resistance and die. However he chose none of those, why would he want to be slave? And of course he don''t want to die so he created an third and fourth option: get captured obediently then escape when given a chance. But that could end up backfiring on him. Option four: run like the wind and don''t look back, rely on luck...that doesn''t give him any much hope of survival either.. "Listen boy if you don''t wanna die, follow me without resistance or Hehe you might loose a finger or two" Without much choice, Morgan had to choose option 3: Capture and escape, though it had alot of risks involved it was the only option with him being free and having a survival chance of at least 10%. Yes, yes the survival chance was rather low but it wasn''t without hope. Everything single detail can help his survival chance: it depends on how many companions this guy have, how many slaves he have, and plus the terrain. With Morgan quick decision making and calculation he was sure he would be able to escape. With that decision in mind, he rose up his hands and made a pleading expression suggesting that he surrender. Though Morgan could be what they call stubborn, he at least knew when to be stubborn . Most people in his situation would most likely had shouted ''I''m not a slave'' and would either act and prove themselves which will not help them or they would try to escape and most likely end up dead. "Haha good boy, I like obedient people but I like people who struggle more. Because it''s so much fun tormenting them when they are strong willed " Cold sweat ran down Morgan''s spine as his face distorted in disgust. ''This bastard is really crazy!'' Morgan thought. Of course his sudden change did not go undetected by the black robed man which caused his smile to be even more crooked than before. "Follow me boy before I get bored, promise me, you wouldn''t like it if I am bored" The man spoke this while he turn around and headed towards the sounds of metal clashing. His sword dragged behind him engraving the forest floor with its marks. With a dejected look, Morgan followed the man as he thinks of many different ways he will use in trying to escape. ... After a few short minutes, they reach an open space in the forest which was at least 10Kms away from the place they were at. As the distance between the open space and them became closer, what Morgan saw momentarily shock him. 20 carriages was filled to the brim with children like clowns fitting in a small car. The children is approximately 10 - 16 years old. Most of the children is male with at least 1/4 of them being female. Their clothes is rather similar to Morgan''s clothes but their body conditions seem to much better than him. This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. Though they seem to be in good shape physically, they however had lifeless dull eyes that indicate they had went through traumatizing experiences. Nevertheless, it seem to be that about 4% of the female slaves had a little hump on their stomachs. Truly for Morgan it was a disgusting site, however he knew this is how the world works. The dominant consume the weak. It was all about birth and luck. If one was birth with nobility then their life would be easiest, and if one come across good luck then their life would take a turn for the better. Besides the carriages there were about 20 ~ 30 black robed men, all with swords in one hand tainted with blood. Around them was bloodied dead bodies of what seem to be bandits; deep and shallow cuts was engraved on their bodies which indicates that there were resistance, that of course was to be expected; who wants to die? Even a child would rather pick up a stick and fight rather than die without a struggle. "Why do suddenly run away from the fun Roland..oh who is this?" A hoarse voice emitted from one if the individual who''s sitting on headless corpse. Now he was staring at Morgan with a discerning eye. Even though he was far away, Morgan could feel a enormous pressure emitting from this individual which trigger the alarm sounds within him, telling him that this man was dangerous. He didn''t want to be in the same proximity with the man, however with the situation he''s in he had no say in things. "Captain I found this slave child trying to escape." "Escape you say...he''s not a slave however it doesn''t matter now. He was just a the wrong place at the wrong time." The man replied. "Oh, if you wasn''t a slave why didn''t you try to resist?" Now all eyes was on Morgan with curiosity. Why didn''t he resist? Could it be that he gave up right from the start or is he just stupid. While everyone was thinking of this, Morgan in the inside was currently thinking of a plan to escape from what he identified them as slavers "Hey I''m asking you question!" Roland roared fuming with anger. How could he not be angered, a middle age man being ignored by a 16 year old kid would make any adult angry, he wasn''t an exception. The sudden roar woke Morgan from his thoughts. He look at the men with innocence dumb expression that did not befit his age. From Morgan''s accumulation of experiences he thought it would be best to play innocence for now. "Yes?" "Captain something wrong with this boy," Roland turned towards his captain. "It doesn''t matter put him inside the carriage, I''m sure some noble female pervert will pay a good price for him!" "Yes this boy would be a good toy for those nobles" Roland chuckled. Beside him Morgan face was distorted with absolute disgust. To him this world is already far beyond corrupted, though he expected this he still couldn''t get over this fact. Nevertheless part of his soul actually came from a civilized world that abolish slaves long ago, yes there are still monarchy systems in some countries but there were civilized civilizations. Roland pulled Morgan by the collar intending to throw him in the carriage with the other slaves, however a dangerous feeling crawled up his spine causing him to throw Morgan on the ground and dodge himself. A second later a fleeting golden arrow burrowed itself deeply into the spot he once were. Seeing the arrow imprinted on the ground were once stood cause Roland''s face to go pale with fright. "Who!?" A voice didn''t answer but a valley of arrows was enough to explain the current situation. "Enemy attack!" In response to this shout all the surrounding cloaked men ready there swords and released a massive amount of bloodlust, however among them the captain was far more menacing. Though in this situation anyone would be cursing themselves of their bad luck, however for Morgan it was the contrary. He was excited "Chance!"
