《Congratulation, You got the Job!》 Chapter 1: Light, Darkness and Balance AN/ Just some things I wanted to say before hand so you can¡¯t get upset down the line. I¡¯m writing this to restart my motivation for writing. While I have every intention to continue this story if people like it, I¡¯m liable to lose my motivation at the drop of a hat and drop this project. Hopefully that doesn''t happen. Secondly, while I like thinking up and creating stories, the bane of my existence is grammar. I couldn¡¯t care less about small grammatical mistakes but if you see bigger ones your more than welcome to mention them and I¡¯ll see about fixing them. Third, while I have an idea about where to go with the story I readily welcome input. You guys might have some awesome ideas that I haven¡¯t thought of and I¡¯m more than willing to incorporate them into the story. I might ask for help regularly, especially with names because I am horrible at inventing names. The story will follow the MC as he changes his world and interacts with other gods. When he becomes more powerful he will be able to visit his world first hand and interact as an adventurer or something. Haven''t decided yet. I¡¯m going to keep the word count for each chapter above 2000 and I will try to update every few days. Also if you like the story be respectful and treat other as you would want to be treated. If you don¡¯t like the story then I guess you can say whatever you want. This is my first time posting on this site so bare with me. I¡¯m rushing through the first three chapters and not being as careful as I should be but oh well. ____________________________________________________________________________ Where am I? The last thing I remember was being surrounded by my family as I passed away. It¡¯s weird. One second I¡¯m with my family and the next I¡¯m sitting in a white room. Their wasn¡¯t much to the room. Just a few chairs to the left, a door that lead to who knows where and a speaker placed above the door. ¡°Next!¡± the speaker announced. What? Are they talking to me? I glance around the room before nervously making my way to the door. As I¡¯m walking I notice I¡¯m holding a folder. Looking inside it all I see are three blank pieces of paper. I make my way through the door to find yet again another entirely white room. This time a man on the opposite side was sitting at his desk. He had a very neat appearance, black hair trimmed short, suit crisp. Stacks of papers were on his desk which he was constantly reviewing before making changes to them. I pause for a second not to sure what to do before heading to the man. ¡°um, I¡¯m not to sure¡¡± ¡°Jacob Hart¡± the man interrupted as he pulled out a file and started reviewing it. ¡°Yes, thats me, but I don¡¯t understand. Where am I? What am I doing here? Am I dead? Is this Heaven?¡± The man rolled his eyes at me before flipping through the file. ¡° We have reviewed your application and surprisingly your tests were in the acceptable range.¡± ¡° Application? Test?¡± The man narrowed his eyes at me, obviously annoyed. ¡°Your application for the job. You tested average on most test. Soul stability: 1243, soul resistance: 1467, soul flexibility:1367¡¡± He continued on for a while as he read my apparent test scores from the file he was holding. Some I had a vague understanding of what they could mean while others I had no Idea. ¡° Now, do you have any prior experience?¡± ¡° Prior ex¡ look I have no Idea what your talking about, what this whole thing is about or what I¡¯m doing here. The last thing I remember was dying and then I appeared in that white room next door.¡± ¡° So no prior experience. Do you have any references?¡± He said as he wrote in the file. ¡°What? Ugh! How in the world am¡!¡± ¡°The folder¡± he sneered. I brought the folder up not sure how three blank pieces of paper would count as references. The man snatched the folder, opening it up he took out the first paper. He waved his hand over it and suddenly a glowing crest appeared. I couldn¡¯t get a good look from my seat but it look like part of the crest looked like some dice. ¡°Hmm, blessed by the lesser goddess of luck.¡± He said as he wrote something down. Me, blessed by the goddess of luck. There must be a mistake. I wouldn¡¯t have considered myself lucky when I was alive. He picked up the next paper, waved a hand over it and recorded the results. ¡°Interesting, blessed by the higher god of nature.¡± Blessed by a god of nature? Well that makes more sense than the goddess of luck. During my later years in life I was apart of Greenpeace. During my earlier years I was more rebellious in my passion, joining some, cough, more dubious organizations who shared my passion for nature. He wiped his hand over the last paper. ¡°Blessed by the Elder god of chaos¡±. As he finished writing he glanced at me and saw how confused I was. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, chaos is always blessing people. It doesn¡¯t mean anything, he just does it to sow chaos in the universe. Anyway it seems that everything is in order¡±. He pulled out a stamp, stamped a few of the papers in my file before standing up and making his way towards me. ¡°Congratulation,¡± he said ¡°your a god.¡± The next thing I knew he shot his hand out causing the stamp in his hand to make contact with my chest. The second it did searing pain coursed through my body. The pain was so intense I immediately collapsed. The last thing I saw before unconsciousness took me was that man as he stared un-compassionately down at me. When I finally gained consciousness I was floating, surrounded by darkness and naked. ¡°Your awake, good, we can get this started¡± a familiar voice said. The man from before suddenly appeared out of nowhere. ¡°What is going on? What did you do to me?¡± ¡°Were you not paying attention? You are now a god. We¡¯ve had an opening recently and we needed it filled. Their aren¡¯t that many people whose soul can handle being turned into a god but of the millions of people we¡¯ve tested and interviewed you were the best we found on such short notice. You will be replacing the previous god of balance and governing over his world.¡± This was so hard to Believe. Me, a god? This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. ¡°What happen to the previous god of balance?¡± ¡°He went against his nature. Instead of creating balance in his world he instead interfered to much and used his world like his own personal play thing. After a while his sins piled up and the council of elder gods scattered him across the universes. Obviously being a god he is immortal, but his essence will take and eternity to reform, not to mention how painful it is to have your essence scattered. I wouldn¡¯t recommend it.¡± Umm. It seem just because I¡¯m a god doesn¡¯t mean I can get cocky. I should make sure I don¡¯t get on the elder god¡¯s bad side. I glance around the empty space we were floating in and asked ¡° What is this place?¡± ¡° This is your realm. Here, everything is in your control. You¡¯re pretty new so your space is smaller than most. The size of your space reflects how much power you have at your command. Two more things. I only came to make sure you understand your role. So first thing, your new title is Lesser god of Light and Darkness also known as the Lesser god of Balance. Secondly, see that white dot.¡± The man pointed to a faint white light that I hadn¡¯t noticed before. ¡° That leads to the common realm that all gods share across the multi universe. When you get bored you can visit there and talk with other gods. Well that should be it. I got a lot of work to do.¡± He said as he started to make his way towards the faint light. ¡°Wait! I don¡¯t know how to be a god. What am I suppose to do?¡± ¡°Do? You can do anything. You¡¯re a god.¡± With that he disappeared leaving me alone and naked surrounded by what seemed like a never ending darkness. It took a while for me to be motivated to do anything. I was literally thrown into this situation by that man, who I never even got his name, with little to no information. Where is this world I¡¯m suppose to govern. How am I suppose to govern it. What kind of rules and restriction are there. I have no idea what to do. The only thing I did know was that I didn¡¯t want to die. ¡°I guess I should try to explore a bit.¡± The man said that my space was small which I didn¡¯t see how that was possible. The never ending darkness looked like it never ended. I started to try to move my body which was harder than one might think. It took a lot of flailing to get my body to slowly drift in the direction I wanted. It wasn¡¯t long before I hit a wall. Looking at it, it did;t seem like a wall. It seemed like I could just continue on going forward but when I reached my hand out I felt resistance. I follow along the wall to check the boarders of my space. At the end I found out that my space was the size of a small house. Well, now what? Their¡¯s not much to do in this space but float. After floating for what seemed like hours, not that I could tell time in this empty void, I started to get pissed. ¡°Ugh, what is with this place! Am I suppose to float here for all eternity, at least give me some land to stand on!¡± I yell as I stamp my foot in frustration, huffing as I had my temper tantrum. As I stamped my foot I felt something impact it. I looked at my foot and saw a small patch of dirt. Wha? Where did this come from. Thinking about it that guy did say that everything in this space is under my control. Did I accidentally create this. If I¡¯m a god shouldn¡¯t I have some kind of power to change and create things. I tried yelling, stomping and wishing for more earth but none of those things changed anything. Let¡¯s calm down and think. Maybe if I meditate I can find some kind of energy source inside of me that was the cause of this. I crossed my legs and meditated while floating. I looked deep inside of me, trying to sense anything that could possibly be different about my new godly body. I don¡¯t know how long I meditated for, again I can¡¯t tell time in this endless space, but eventually I felt something. A wide grin spread across my face. It was just for a second but I was sure this is what I was looking for. Again and again I tried to sense the power within me. Ten times, fifty times, one hundred times. I concentrated and practiced until I didn¡¯t need to meditate anymore. I could feel that lump of power even when I wasn¡¯t meditating. I¡¯ve made contact with it but how do I use this power to create land. I begin experimenting with it to see if I can move the power and manipulate it at will. Slowly I work with it and start to manipulate it inside my body. It¡¯s difficult but I soon lose myself in my practice and before long I¡¯m able to shape it into a perfect circle, then a square, then a spiral. I move it to my fingers and then to my toes. After that I try to move it outside of my body. This is even more difficult than manipulating it in my body. As I practice manipulating my power outside of my body I think back to when I first created that small patch of dirt. Why did a patch of dirt form? Was it the words that I spoke, I don¡¯t think so. How can this ¡®magic¡¯ if you will, form dirt just because of the words spoken. Does my magic know the english language? More likely it was the image of dirt I had in my head at the time. Once I¡¯m comfortable manipulating my magic outside my body I start my first real test in using it. I bring my magic out of my body and push it down under my feet. Spreading out my magic below my feet I start to think of dirt, willing my magic to change into something solid, something earth like. I imagine how dirt looks, how it feel when you touch it and how it feels walking on it. Soon the the magic under my feet seems to become much more solid. It starts to waver, changing into dirt and back into my power multiple times until finally it stabilizes into a patch of dirt big enough for two people to stand on. Suddenly exhaustion takes hold of me. I felt like I just ran a mile. I looked into my self to see that a lot of magic power was gone. Fortunately I could see it slowly being refiled. This is going to take a while. Chapter 2: World Building is Fun! Chapter two AN/ Sooo, I¡¯m an idiot. I finished writing chapter 3 on my phone and because I decided to be impatient lost the whole chapter. I still remember it but my motivation has seriously taken a dive. Anyway I need some names for side characters that I will be doing POV as the story goes on. Don¡¯t usually like POV¡¯s but what are you going to do. I need a name for a lion man beast cub whose name I have at Duren and the other for a Fairy with an extreme affinity for fire who I¡¯ve named Pyra. If you have any suggestions for names let me know. ____________________________________________________________________________ Oh my god, this is taking forever! I felt like it¡¯s been half a year already but I finally created land stretching from one side of my space to the other. During this time I was able to learn more about my new body. For one, I no longer needed sleep, food or the need to excrete bodily waste. Secondly, it seem that the more I use my magic the larger my capacity gets. Obviously it¡¯s an extremely slow process. So slow in fact that I only just noticed the slight increase when I finished creating the ground. If before I was tired creating enough land for two people to stand on then now I get tired creating enough land for ten people to stand on. With the land created I needed more light. My whole space was extremely dark with the only light source being the faint light coming from what the man who made me a god said was my connection to a shared realm for gods. What I needed was a sun. But the more I thought about it the more I realized, did I really need a sun. Back when I was alive I never really cared that much about the sun and the heat. This is my space so I should create it how I want it to be. Instead of a sun, lets have a gigantic moon. I start the long and tedious process of creating a moon. After that I started on the stars with different constellations. Next I covered the ground in grass. At this point I realized that my space has increased in size. Nothing amazing, just about a yard on each side. I filled the space with land and grass and started a small forest. Really it was just eight trees in a cluster, not really something you can call a forest but it was a start. Next to the forest I made a small pond that would be the start of a lake I would eventually grow. Things were going really well. The moon was majestic as it lit up my realm. The stars were big and bright, the constellations keeping me company. The trees were full, the grass was perfect and the pond was crystal clear. But I started to think. Can I make things like houses, tv¡¯s and cell phones with my magic? Working at it I was eventually able to find that yes, I can make modern day tech with my magic. Soon I had a one bedroom house, with a fully stocked kitchen, living room and bathroom. I could have made the house with out the bedroom, bathroom or kitchen since I no longer eat, sleep or use the restroom but it would be weird living in a house without those things. Finally I created a digital calendar and clock so that I can finally tell time in this realm. Satisfied for now with my realm I decided to take a break and lay on the couch in front of the tv. There I came face to face with the worst realization since dying. HOW THE HELL AM I SUPOSE TO WATCH TV!!! There¡¯s no tv station in my realm, no cable networks, no actors or studios. It took two hours before I was able to calm down. So glad I have a clock to know how long I lose my mind for. With nothing to do I start to think about the world I¡¯m suppose to govern over. I know nothing about that world and I have no idea how to make contact with it. Maybe if I extend my senses outside of my realm I can sense it. After a week of trying the most I got was a fuzzy impression of the world. It seem too inefficient to govern my world that way. I start brainstorming different ideas but non of them are that ideal. I stare at the blank tv screen. hmm. Maybe I can use that. I extend my senses to the world I sensed and tried to form a connection with it to my tv. It was actually a lot simpler than I thought it would be. Once the connection was established I turned on the tv to channel one. The screen showed a wide mountain range with the camera zooming in to different parts of the mountain. Soon an announcer like one you would hear on those nature documentaries started speaking. ¡°The Seripes Mountains are the largest mountain range on the Azeral continent with it¡¯s highest peak reaching 20,000 meters above sea level. Home to many creatures such as the yeti, giants¡¡± This was weird. I went to channel two. The tv switched to a dark forest, zooming in a nest of giant spiders. ¡°¡beautiful sight. Milia has captured her first prey. Now she will inject it with her paralyzing venom and carry it back to the nest thus securing her place among her peers¡¡± I change to channel three. ¡°And we¡¯er back with ¡®Cooking with Shelly!¡¯¡± The announcer said as the theme music played and ended. The screen showed a giant cooking what looked like stew in a giant black cauldron over an open fire. ¡°Hmmm,¡± she said as she tasted her stew ¡°needs more dwarfs¡±. She reach off camera and pulled a struggling dwarf into frame. ¡°In you go.¡± She giggled as she dropped the dwarf in the boiling stew. I quickly turned off the tv. That was disturbing. I sat and thought about what I saw. First off, it seems that my world is inhabited by all sorts of monsters and mythical creatures. That¡¯s fine, I could handle that. Plus in all honesty it made thing more interesting. Second, I don¡¯t think the tv is a good idea to govern my world. I need more control over what i want to see. I start thinking again about the best way to go about it and decide that scrying should be adequate for what I want to do. I practice getting it to work, first on water then in the air and find out that the mana consumption is not that bad. Still with my low capacity I¡¯ll only be able to scry for about ten minutes at a time. I resolve myself to learn more about the world I inherited. For one year I will observe my world so that I can better understand what needs to be changed and what I can do to help. Things have changed this past year and I¡¯ve learned quite a lot about my world. Constantly using my scrying technique for a year has expanded my capacity to enormous levels. At least when compared to before. My realm has expanded and I now have a very small forest and my pond has been enlarged to the size of an olympic swimming pool. I¡¯ve also started to add bushes, fruit tree, flowers and animals. Nothing carnivorous yet, just a few species like deer and fish. As for my world I learned quite a lot about it. First off there are two main continents. The unexplored Dark continent and the continent Azeral. On Azeral half the continent is over run by a dark forest inhabited by powerful monsters. The deeper you go into the forest the stronger the monsters become. On the opposite side of the forest are four human cities, each ruled by their own king. They¡¯re not exactly allies, but their not exactly enemies either. These cities are under constant attack from monsters so they are more concerned with survival than rivals. Technologically speaking they¡¯re stuck in an era similar to earth¡¯s middle ages but they also seem to have a power source that lets them wield magic and strengthen their bodies, calling themselves cultivators. Apparently they have cores that absorb the magic outside of their bodies allowing them to use it as needed. These cores can evolve and become stronger the more you train. It seem the ranking system in this world is based off of metals. The weakest cores and therefore the weakest people are with ¡®coal cores¡¯. You can then evolve and rank up in order of copper, iron, steel, silver, gold, and black gold and platinum. Each core gives off an aura that makes it easy to tell apart. Each human city seems to only have one silver core with very few if any steel core knights and mages. It¡¯s for this reason that they are struggling to survive. I¡¯ve also noticed that all of their magic and techniques revolve around the 5 elements of earth, water, wind, fire, and lightning. I wonder if I can get them to use light magic and darkness magic, if it¡¯s even possible. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. Separating the humans from the forest of monsters are different races of monsters and mythical beings. In front of the humans and towards the left are three tribes of beast men. From what I see they are strong but divide and quick to fight. The three tribes are the bear beast men, the rat men and the wolf men. In total their numbers don¡¯t even reach 5,000 but they are still holding off monster attacks. Directly in front of the dark forest are villages of goblins and orcs, small bands of giants, wandering ogres, cyclopes and trolls. They¡¯re also a lot of smaller monsters a well but those seem to be the ones in control of the middle of the continent. To the right of the humans is a mountain range that stretches from one side of Azeral to the other side. These mountains are where the dwarfs live, relatively well if I do say so myself. They have the most numbers out of all the races and also have a gold core knight and quite a few steel core cultivators. Above the beast men there is a forest where the elves and fairy folk live. They seem to have a hight affinity for magic and have quite a few sliver core cultivators compared to everyone else. They are the closest to the Dark forest and are regularly attacked by those monsters. In spite of that the elven and fairy folk seem to not like violence much and seem to value nature above just about everything else. The rest of the Azeral might not know it but around 60% of monsters that come out of the dark forest head to the elves first. Without them the whole continent would have been over run a long time ago. As far as the Dark continent goes, that has been conquered by the dragons. Much of the information I gained was from a new type of magic I¡¯d been experimenting with called Status magic which allowed me to gain further details on individuals. This is done by bringing up a status window of the individual with all their stats, titles and other information just like you see in a MMORPG. Now that I¡¯ve seen the world I have a few ideas on what I want to do. First off I want to unite the beast men, I also want to add new species to the planet like mermaids and fire giants. The dwarfs seem ok for now but the elves and humans will need some help. I scry to the bear men village in the air next to me and try to come up with some ideas that would help them. The problem, I decided, was that I can¡¯t interfere too much in my world. Unfortunately I don¡¯t know what too much is so I¡¯ll have to to try to do the least amount possible while causing the greatest change. What the beast men really need is a leader, someone who can bring them together. How should I go about this? Maybe through their cores? The cores provide magic but it also contains their soul. Perhaps I can create a core with qualities I think are important and give it to an unborn child? hmm. I start the process of creating a core by trail and error. Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months before I finally gain some kind of understanding about cores. I started out small. Just a tiny speck of my condensed magic. I nurtured that speck, feeding it more and more magic. I became completely focused on this little core, not noticing the weeks and months I spent growing it. As it got bigger I thought of the kind of beast man it needed to be. Putting one tribe above the others would tear them apart in the earlier formation of this soon to be mighty kingdom. We needed a new beast man. One born to lead, born to be a king. A lion, yes, a lion. That is what this child will be. I thought of all I knew of lions and poured my knowledge into the core. I imprinted the image of a lion into that core into it¡¯s very DNA. As the core grew bigger and bigger I saw it¡¯s potential grow stronger and stronger. It wouldn¡¯t be very difficult to make the potential set in stone, it wouldn¡¯t be difficult for this child to be born a gold core cultivator. It would just take more of my power. But no, that would be interfering too much in this world, I knew this as surely as I knew my name. I kept the potential but this child would have to work for it. He will have to train and survive to reach his potential. I whispered to my core constantly, wrapping my voice in my mana. ¡°Grow strong little one¡± ¡°Be courageous¡± ¡°Be wise my lion, knowledge is power¡± ¡°Why are your people fractured, are you not all one people¡±. I whispered and whispered but whether he listen is entirely up to him. I don¡¯t believe in puppets, everyone has free will. I can try to guide him the way I want him to grow but once he is born his fate is in his own hands. It took two years for the core to be complete and in that time my capacity has grown even further. Next time it will not take so long. I look at my core and examined it from every angle. I cast status and tried to see if their was anything else I could do. For a first attempt it was pretty good. I looked out at the villages and decided that the bear village will raise my lion. I looked for a suitable mother, one in the first trimester of pregnancy and preferable a good family. After a few weeks I decided on a soldiers family. Scrying on the mother I brought my core to the screen. I wrapped most of my magic around the core and whispered ¡°Go, go change this world¡±. The core shot out of my hands and headed straight for the mother belly before merging with it. After checking to make sure everything went as planed all I could do was wait. Chapter 3: Moonlight Celebration And Prya Chapter 3 AN/ At the beginning of the day I had a whole list of thing to say here but as the day went on they became less relevant. Good news for those who like this story. Anyway, when I posted this story I had already completed 2 and a half chapters. Now we are totally caught up and updates might or might not slow down some what. For the most part I¡¯m going to TRY to post once a day but this is the first time I¡¯m doing something like this so I don¡¯t really have a frame of reference. We¡¯ll see how it goes. All of your comments are awesome. I didn''t think your guys comments would affect me so much. I¡¯m not crying or anything but it definitely keeps me motivated. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Wait is what I did. Besides periodically checking up on the soon to be lion cub I also started to play around with my realm. After the core business, it grew again so I worked to expand everything, adding more animals and plants. I started combining different fruit plants together to get weird combinations like a tree that grew apple-oranges. The outside looked like apples while the inside looked like an orange. When I got bored of combining different fruits and vegetables I started making up random plants like a plant that grew steaks or plants that grew pizza. Why? Because I was bored. I was starting to understand that greatest enemy of the gods was boredom. Because of this I decided to make some companions. I first made a large black cat I decided to name Shirley and a wolfhound named Coco. During this time I also began a new project of making pseudo cores. Basically they were blank cores that would allow me to mass produce them while adding the finder details like affinity, personality and potential at a later time. Of course with my capacity as it was I wouldn¡¯t be able to mass produce these blank cores right now. At most I could produce 2 pseudo cores a month. This would allow me to make more in-depth plans and save me a lot of time as well. Coco, Shirley and I were laying in my bed when I heard the sound of pain from my scrying window. It seems that the lion¡¯s mother has gone into labor. Excellent. Nine hours later and a male lion cub was born. Looking at the family I only now just realized that I never took into account how the family would feel raising a lion. Would the hate him? Would they think the mother had an affair? Would they try to kill him? I decided to keep an eye on the family for a month just to make sure everything was going smoothly. Fortunately it seems I was worried for nothing. While their were some members of the bear men tribe that acted hostile most were curious if indifferent. The lion¡¯s family was confused but were slowly warming up to him and named him Leon. It will be a good sixteen to eighteen years before I see how he turns out so I switch my attention to the fairies living with the elves. Fairies are quite peculiar creatures. They¡¯re divided by gender with all females being born as fairies and all males being born as pixies. Fairies have an average intelligence and rather simple magic to defend themselves with. Their magic consist of hexes, curses and expelling a force of raw magic as attacks. Pixies have rather low intelligence and has no magical capabilities. The elves and fairy folk get along extremely well with both communing and wanting to protect their forest and nature in general. Looking at the fairies and pixies I already have a few ideas rolling around in my head. The fairies are not very powerful and a little unorganized and divided. They constantly look down on their pixie counter parts. What they need is a leader, just like the beast men. For the fairies I will shape a queen, a Fairy Queen to be exact. For what I have in mind I will need a lot of power, time and experience all of which I don¡¯t have at the moment. To practice I¡¯ll start creating fairy handmaidens who will not only serve the queen but also provide a check and balance system for their queen just in case. Now how will I create these handmaidens? I could use the same method I used for the beast men but I¡¯m not really satisfied doing that for the fairies. I¡¯d rather cause some fairies to evolve into a higher form. I want each of these handmaidens to be the embodiment of a specific element so I start my search for fairies that have love and are loved by a specific element. It takes a while but I find a strange fairy that seems to like fire. Most fairies are afraid of fire but this one seems to enjoy being surrounded by it. I keep my eye on that fairy and start creating a new core. I have no idea how I¡¯ll be able to evolve this fairy but maybe something will come to me once I finish. I nurture the core and whisper my intentions with the fire element but after a month I realized that this wasn¡¯t going to give me the result I wanted. Just whispering my intentions weren¡¯t going to cut it, I needed to imbue this core with the very essence of fire. Thinking on this I create some fire and work with the core to absorb it¡¯s essence. It¡¯s very slow going but eventually I get the process down and constantly surrounded the core with fire for it to absorb. I whisper into the core for it to raise the fairy¡¯s intelligence, for the fairy to grow and be imbued with a fiery passion. Finally I whisper about their mission. ¡°You are the fairy queen¡¯s handmaiden.¡± I whisper. ¡°You are her arms and legs, her eyes and ears in the world.¡± ¡°Serve your queen well, but never forget your first duty is to your people.¡± ¡°Serve your queen by walking your own path and protect your people.¡± It takes a year for the core to finish and at the end the potential reaches gold rank. Hopefully this fire handmaiden will be able to reach that potential. I observe the fairy who has the unusual connection with fire. How am I suppose to give her this core. For some reason, I feel that if I just send it to her like I did the unborn lion it will fail and most likely kill her. Thinking back to the lion, I gave him his core in his mothers womb when he was first being created. At that stage he was able to absorb the power I gave him. This fairy is already grown. To change her I will need some kind of buffer or catalyst. Preferably both. Hmm. I¡¯m making a fire handmaiden so wouldn¡¯t fire be not only the perfect catalyst but also a perfect buffer? I decide to wait until the next full moon before trying out my hypothesis. Why during the full moon? I don¡¯t know, I just have it stuck in my head that fairies are more powerful under the moonlight. Two week go by until it¡¯s finally the night of the full moon. I pick a clearing just outside the elven city and send out a call with my magic to the fairies. ¡°Come.¡± I¡¯m not sure if it will work but soon fairies are streaming into the field with confused looks on their face. ¡°Come. Come. Come!¡± I forcefully call. More and more fairies start to gather. ¡°Build us a fire¡± I whisper into the air. ¡°Let us celebrate. Celebrate the birth of a handmaiden!¡± I don¡¯t know how much of that was communicated but I felt my emotions make a connection with them. The fairies that were once fluttering about suddenly became fevered. They began to sing, some left and came back with tiny instruments. Louder and louder they played and faster and faster they danced. A few elves approached the edge of the field looking on in curiosity and wonder. The fairy enamored with fire started to gather wood and built a giant bonfire. The flames roared as the fairies danced around it, moonlight streaming directly into the field. The fairies became more and more excited as they felt their magic in the air. Yes, this was it. The fairy party became wilder and wilder as I started to pump my magic into the bon fire, causing it to roar to the sky. I focused in on the my fairy. ¡°Come¡± I whispered, ¡°Accept the fire, Accept your destiny!¡± The fairy shook like it was struck by lightning before exploding straight for the bon fire. My magic was constantly being pumped into the bon fire and when the fairy made contact with the fire I shot my core straight at her. Her scream pierced the night causing the fairies to snap out of their excitement and the elves to look on in horror. Yes, Yes. More power! I pump all of my remaining power into the bonfire. The fire gathered around the fairy, condensing before rising in to the air. An explosion of fire expanded across the sky and floating in the middle was a totally different fairy. No longer the average size of 4 inches, now she stood 2ft tall. Her hair, cropped short, had turned a brilliant fiery red color and her wings now looked like a delicate piece of art. Designs of flames and fire covered her wings and the edges gave off a slight orange glow. She looked at herself before giving a joyous laugh while raising into the sky. Once finished she came to hover above the ground with a smile of pure happiness. The other fairies looked at the new fairy with shock and awe before as one rushed to the fire fairy. They didn¡¯t know what had happened or what this meant, only that it was a miracle that signified a new era for fairies. I watch as they surrounded the reborn fairy, laughing and dancing, kissing and singing. The celebration started again in honor of the fire handmaiden. Unfortunately I wasn¡¯t going to be able to watch. It seems that I used up way too much of my power. My consciousness faded in and out. ¡°Sweet dreams little fairies. I guess I¡¯ll visit you tomor¡¡± My last sight of the night was of the new handmaiden¡¯s smile that seemed to out shine even the moon. The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Prya POV ___________________________________________________________________________ I¡¯ve always been a peculiar fairy. Fairies by nature are attracted to two things. Beauty and magic. When I looked a a flame I saw the power and beauty of it. I saw the changeability and ferociousness of it. Others did not share my perception. They feared fire as it was too dangerous to fairies. They saw fire as a destroyer. But I didn¡¯t see it that way. Fire brought change and heat. It could be used to build or destroy, save or kill. To me fire was majestic, and powerful. After all what is the sun but one big flame. The fairies dislike of fire soon changed to include me as well. Calling me defective, firebug and demon. I didn¡¯t mind. It¡¯s their lost if they couldn¡¯t understand what fire had to offer. Anyway that night is when everything changed. The moon was full as I flew home. I always noticed I was always happier around fire or during a full moon. I don¡¯t know if others realized the moon¡¯s effect on us but I doubt it. That¡¯s when I felt it. A call from something powerful and magical. It came as a whisper on the wind calling us, all of us together. We could resist it if we wanted. But the calling was so tempting that I just had to see where it came from. I approached the destination and already there were hundreds of fairies just as confused as I was. The call came again and again and again. Thousands and thousands of fairies from all over came streaming into the field. Suddenly something whispered in my ear. I couldn¡¯t make it out but the emotion transferred through. The emotion of happiness and love. Some fairies started to sing while others started to dance. Slowly at first, then they began to go faster and faster, more joining in as the seconds passed. The faster they sang and dance the more I noticed the magic in the air. Instruments were brought and played and we became more and more excited. Magic filled the air, intoxicating us as we recognized our magic. I have never felt our magic so strongly before. It felt like together we could do anything, defeat any foe, grow any forest. We danced and sang and the power just kept rising. Our power, the power we never knew we had. I think we went mad, I know I did. I started to gather wood, enlisting the pixies on the fringe to gather wood and fire. I don¡¯t know what came over me but I wanted to show off the beauty of fire. To who I don¡¯t know, my fellow fairies, the deep power that called us hear, maybe to the moon, I just knew that the fire¡¯s majesty would fit in well here. Here and now the impossible was possible. We all felt it. I grabbed the torch from a pixie and lit the bonfire on fire. The flame burned brighter, rose higher and gave off more heat then it should have. Here at this time we were not afraid of fire, here we were afraid of nothing. We danced and sang, we all blurred together working ourselves into more and more of a frenzy. I heard whispers on the wind but I understood none of it. The magic in air drove me insane. It ripped through me like lightning. I stared at the flame, my lovely fire and I just had to be closer, had to be one with this fire. I wanted to be a raging forest fire, I wanted to be a blazing sun in the sky. This magic made the impossible possible, here and now not even fire would hurt me. I flew straight into the flame and screamed out in pain. But even in pain all I could think about was the power this flame had, how beautifully it scorched my body. Soon the pain all but disappeared but I was still alive. With every breath I inhaled, fire seeped into my lungs, burning away my inferior lungs and making a brand new pair. It flowed down into my veins and surrounded my bones. With ever exhale, fire flew out of my mouth and my bones stretched making me taller. The flames wrapped around me like a cocoon rising me up in the air before exploding outwards. Every one was looking at me and as I took a look at my self tears of joy streamed down my face and evaporated as I laughed joyously. I flew high in the sky, higher than ever before. I took a deep breath, feeling the heat of the world flow into me. The cold night air no longer touched me. I floated back down to my peers and they rushed to me elated with my transformation. None of them understood what it meant, but I did. The fairy queen was coming and it was my duty to pave her way. I was her humble servant as well as her unbreakable leash. I glanced at the pixies still on the fringe of the field. Now that I was a handmaiden things were much clearer than before. Fairies are such fickle, selfish and vain creatures but they were my people. The pixies were seen a second class citizens by fairies, only good for procreating more fairies. I didn¡¯t exactly disagree with them but I also no longer agreed with them anymore either. The pixies are of our blood. They¡¯re our people as well and I will protect them with my dying breath. Maybe something can be done to improve their standing with my people. For another day I guess. Yesterday was amazing but today I need to get to work. Looking around my home I''d already decided on getting a bigger house. I barely fit in here and I was thinking of getting a place for all handmaidens to live in. A knock on my door shook me from my thinking. Answering the door I''m greeted by four Elven Knights. Their silver hair shown brighter than the moonlight, there armor shines brighter than the sun, their green tinted skin was absolutely flawless. I remember back when I was a fairy I was so jealous of their beauty, as were most fairy folk. Now, such useless things no longer cluttered my brain. Looking at their armor I see the crest of the rising sun. Meaning that these elves were part of the royal guard directly under the king. A knight older then the rest but no less beautiful spoke up. "His majesty the king wishes to speak with you.¡± If I was as I was before I would be tripping over myself for such an honor. But now the only thing going through my mind were possible reason for why he would want to see me. "Are you to escort me?" I ask. The older knight made a gesture of ''after you''. I had already been thinking of making plans to meet the king anyway, so this worked out great. As I walked through the streets I was meet with awe and respect from my fairy people. The elves looked on in curiosity, not sure what to make of me yet. As we entered the throne room of the castle notice not only the king and queen but also quite a few nobles and court magicians. I landed in front of the king and kneeled down, my eyes never leaving the king¡¯s. ¡°I am honored your majesty, I have been hoping to speak with you, king of elves.¡± Mutters rang through the throne room as many of the nobles expressed their displeasure concerning my lack of respect. Raising your head when kneeling, speaking before given permission and the distinction between the king being the king of elves and not of the fairies were all ways that I subtly showed the shift in power. Whether they excepted it or not things were changing. The king frown at my disrespect but looked more confused than angry. ¡°Fairy rise,¡± the king spoke ¡° do you no longer see me as your king?¡± ¡°Your majesty, this city and your people have done much for my people. While our cities burned in the dark forest it was this city that offered us sanctuary, your people that welcomed us with open arms. For that we shall forever be grateful. You have but to ask and we are at your service. But calling you my king is no longer an option. Our one and only ruler, the queen of the fairies, will soon return. My loyalty is to my queen my lord.¡± ¡°Preposterous," a random noble exploded "There''s no such thing as a fairy queen. This fairy is trying to make a fool of us. Where is your proof. You come in here with with no respect and expect us to believe your crazy declaration!" "Jekell please." The king sighed. " My dear fairy, we were under the assumption that the fairy queen was just a myth." I shook my head. "Pyra, my name is Pyra. Many things things that were previous hidden from me are now clear. My queen will return. I know it as surly as I know my name. But if you need proof then it''s standing right in front of you. My transformation has made me a handmaiden of the fairy queen.¡± I recounted the events of last night. ¡° I am her arms and legs, her eyes and ears. Believe me or not but she is coming. The first fairy queen ruled our people during dark times. Her wrath was a terrible thing to behold. She was cruel yet kind, beautiful yet vindictive. She was power incarnate and she protected, and guided us. She was Queen Mab, ruler of air and darkness monarch of the winter lands. Unfortunately when she fell to the dragon king and his army so did our towering cities. I gained this power to serve my queen. I know it.¡± I finished with as much resolve and confidence as I could muster. The room was filled with silence as the noble¡¯s digested what I said. ¡°You are all dismissed.¡± The king said as he broke the silence. ¡°Prya, come have lunch with us. We have much to discuss.¡± ¡°Yes, my lord.¡± AN/ Chapter Tomorrow? Not a chapter. Had Midterms. Start writing again tomorrow. I''ll replace this thread with the new chapter tomorrow if all goes as planned. Chapter 4: Let There Be Light! And Water? And Intelligence? Chapter 4 AN/ Why, oh why. Fate did not want me to post this chapter Friday. Not only did I have school stuff to fix that shouldn¡¯t even be an issue but for some reason my auto correct went crazy when I was typing and every other word pages changed to the wrong word. Even when I spelled something correct( hey, it happens sometimes) it still insisted that I was wrong and gave me an incorrect spelling. Still I could have had this chapter out yesterday if not for two reasons. The first is that I wanted to get to a certain point by the end of the chapter and for some reason it took twice as many pages as I thought it would take. As I¡¯ve said before I suck at coming up with names. That includes people and places. Anyone have any suggestions for cities? Thats it. I won¡¯t waste anymore space(even though I could actually rant for about a page and a half on my last three days). Ps.( The second reason is because I¡¯m a lazy procrastinator) Pss. I also just realized I have no Idea how to change previous post and I am too tired and annoyed to figure it out. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I woke up feeling refreshed. This was the first time since becoming a God that I''ve been able to rest. If you call falling unconscious a rest that is. While it was a nostalgic feeling I probably shouldn''t make a habit out of it. Standing up from the couch I just started to stretch when Coco came charging at me. Before I had time to say a word she tackled me to the couch and proceeded to slobber all over me. "Really coco! Ack! What is with you. Stop licking me!" Shirley came strutting into the room and sat on the couch next to me. She took one glance at Coco attacking me and gave her paw a vicious strike across Coco¡¯s face. The power in the strike was more the I expected as Coco flew across the room only to immediately get back up again. Shirley causal stepped into my lap like it was her property and fell asleep. Coco having brushed off Shirley''s attack jumped around me in excitement before bounding out of the house. Weird. I wonder how long I was out for? I glanced at the clock which indicated that it was 10''0 clock. Looks like I was out for 10 hours. My eyes passed over the calendar causing me to double take. This can''t be right! I was unconscious for five years! My mind couldn''t handle this information. What happened to my new fairy, what happened to Leon? I quickly cast my scrying technique and focused on the fairy handmaiden. She was currently neck deep in battle with a ogre. The ogre was nine feet tall dressed in a loincloth. He had a club that he was swinging with uncanny efficiency. Fairies were usually the first responders when their forest was invaded by monsters. Their jobs were to slow the monsters down to allow time for the elves to mobilize and finish off the target. A swarm of fairies surrounded the ogre banishing their magic to little to no effect. Only when the fairies struck at the ogre¡¯s eyes did it show any kind of irritation. Only the fairy handmaiden was powerful enough to stand up to the monster but even that seemed like a losing battle. The handmaiden peppered the ogre with small fire balls that rocked him back and caused him to become unbalanced with every impact and stumble back. Unfortunately those attacks seemed to do very little damage. I thought I made the fairy handmaiden¡¯s strong. Has something gone wrong? Did I make a mistake when I created her core? The swarm of fairies tried to help as they coordinated their attacks in time with the handmaidens impacts but the ogre, even when off balanced, was able to strike down fairies with every swing of his club. The fairies were ineffective against this enemy and I could do nothing but watch, after all, this was their world and their life. They deserved to live and die according to their will. Suddenly the ogre screamed. One hand raised to cover a wounded eye the other swinging it¡¯s club franticly back and forth. I saw a flash dart away from the ogre¡¯s face and take to the air. There a pixie looked down at the intruder, a bloody metal fragment in its hand. Did this pixie attack that ogre. Interesting. The pixies as a whole were a lot less intelligent than their fairy counterparts and did not have their talent with magic either. While physically superior to fairies, relying on their incredible speed, pixies were not known to engage in battle much, let alone use weapons. I¡¯ll have to keep my eye on that pixie in the future. The fairy handmaiden continued to pepper the ogre, making it stumble farther and farther away until the ogre rocked past the forest boundary. Once the ogre passed the boundary the handmaiden turned her back to it and proceeded to head back into the forest. The ogre roared before charging straight towards my fairy. The ogre barely made two steps before he was engulfed in a pillar of flame that reached the clouds. I was so shocked that I almost jump off my seat and dislodged Shirley from my lap. The handmaiden showed no outward change as she headed back into her forest with out so much as a glance at her former prey. The pillar died showing a corpse, broken and scattering to the winds. I see, I think I understand now. Fire is a dangerous element when you¡¯ve made your home in the forest. It seems she used the bare minimum amount of power to push her foe out of the forest, this way she could finish it off with her full power without endangering her home. It seems I¡¯ve underestimated her, she was indeed powerful. I suspect that without her that ogre would have made it rather deep inside the forest causing many casualties and injuries to the fairies before the elves arrived as back up. I follow her back to the few fairies that seem to have been injured during the fight. She began issuing orders for the injured to be carried away and the scouts to resume their patrol. It seemed she commanded a lot of respect among the fairy population. I also pick up that she was called Prya. It seem I can leave the forest to her for the time being so I switch my focus to Leon. So apparently it¡¯s been a little more than five years since Leon has been born into the bear beast tribe. I found him with relative ease and observed him for a while. Right now he was sitting in a tree watching the younger generation of bear beast men practice fighting for dominance. He had all the features one would expect of a beast man but it was obvious he was different at a glance. Every member of this tribe had brown or black hair. Leon had long shaggy blond hair. While Leon¡¯s face showed the tell tale signs of the beast tribe, with elongated facial features and furry ears on top of his head, Leon¡¯s face was a little to long when compared to the other bear men. His ears while on the top of his head were larger, more cat like, than the small stumpy ears that the rest had. His eyes had slit like pupils and his body was more lean when compared to his stocky children counter parts. I observed his interactions with the tribe and it was plain to see that the younger generation didn¡¯t like him. Most adult eyed him as a curiosity, as they had never heard of a cat beast man but here one was, born to two bears. Or so they say. Having very little friends he watched and observed constantly. He was such a quiet child that I really didn¡¯t know what to make of him. He chose to flee when faced with the violence and taunts of the other children, using his superior speed to his advantage. But I couldn¡¯t figure out if that was a good thing or bad. I watched him help a fallen baby bird back into his nest. He just seemed to kind to make it far as a beast man let alone as a leader of all tribes. I wanted him to be a kind and just ruler but the founding principle of the tribes are power is everything, survival of the fittest. The tribes constantly fought for dominance and if he wasn¡¯t willing to crush a few of his people he would be doomed to the bottom of the tribe. Still he was only five years old. Maybe I¡¯m being a little harsh. Besides, ruling through power is not the only way one can lead. True, power is something that all the tribes respect and it would be the easiest way to bind them together, but that doesn¡¯t mean a gentler touch couldn¡¯t also be as effective. While his kindness, while not unwelcome, does cause me to worry, I¡¯m sure he will toughen up soon enough. After all his father is a solider of this tribe and Leon is already at the age when he can start being train in combat for both his human form and the beast men¡¯s natural animal form. Next I checked on the dwarves who haven¡¯t changed at all in the last five years before moving on to the human cities. The middle city of Xaisor was in the middle of repairs. Their walls were breached and a portion of the city destroyed. Humans were a difficult species for me to involve myself in. As a human myself I felt the need to help as much as I can but I also realized just how powerful the potential of humans are. Take my world for example. We didn¡¯t have magic, yet we thrived on our own ingenuity and intelligence. Given the chance I felt that these humans too will reach great heights. I didn¡¯t want them to go the technological route that my old world did but I also didn¡¯t want to interfere with them when I knew that they were capable of surviving on their own. I¡¯d have to think more on what I could do to help the humans with out showing favoritism and throwing the world out of balance. Time to get to work. I gently moved Shirley onto the couch and went to the storage rack where I kept the six pseudo cores I finished before I passed out. I already had plans for all six that I just needed to put into action. I grabbed four cores with my magic which caused them to hover around me and headed out side. I sat down in an open field near Coco who was playfully teasing the passing dears and boars by running around them before giving them a playful slap that sent the animals tumbling down. Now that I mention it, both Shirley and Coco seem abnormally strong and durable. Umm, I¡¯ll have to investigate this at a later time. My first task was something that I thought this world desperately needed. After I first observed the world I realized that known magic was mostly comprised of the five basic elements of fire, water, wind, earth and lightning. All spells were derived from those elements. As I observed the elements and their properties I discovered an alarming thing. None of the current elemental magic allowed for healing magic. To me this is quite a dangerous realization. On earth we had advanced technology to the point where for most of the world, diseases and injures were no longer life threatening. At least compared to the earlier days of our civilization. Here, in this world where modern science, or really any kind of science, is almost unheard of, the danger of diseases and injuries are a blight on the people. Diseases and infections are more of a threat to all sentient life than any war or monster. Any injury in battle leads to permanent disability if not death. With people fighting for there lives all the time, having people who can heal the injured and sick will not only raise the population but also allow for their cultivators to live longer and grow stronger. Even the elves and dwarves are not immune to these dangers. Right now the world only knows of medicine men and women whose knowledge is woefully inadequate and sometimes down right dangerous. What I want to do is allow for a new element to be manipulated that will allow for healing magic to ease the stress of diseases and injuries. How am I going to do that? By winging it of course. In fiction light magic is known to be the bases for healing and support magic. But I don¡¯t think that giving people the ability to manipulate light will suddenly allow for them to heal people. Light doesn¡¯t work that way. Fortunately I am now a god. I bring bring three of the four cores in front of me and start forcing it to absorb the energy and essence of light. This is quite delicate as light and fire are two sides of the same coin. It takes a while for me to be able to differentiate between the two but soon I¡¯m able to push the cores to the side and have the cores absorb the light outside with out having to concentrate too much on them. These cores will be a lot easier to make than the fire handmaiden one. For one I don¡¯t need to raise their potential by that much. I just want to introduce light magic to the world first, allowing for these core¡¯s decedents to have a light magic affinity. Secondly I don¡¯t have to shape the core much as all I¡¯m doing is adding an affinity to it. The three cores are hovering to the side absorbing light magic at a somewhat decent rate so i bring most of my attention the the fourth core I brought out. I¡¯ve been making a lot of changes to the fairies and have been making a lot of plans to improve the elves, beast tribes, humans and dwarves. But what I haven¡¯t done yet was see how I can help the other races of the world that are labeled as monsters. I don¡¯t believe anyone is born a monster. Monster is just a word used to spread fear and hate. After all, these creatures are just trying to survive. Do humans not seem like monsters to other animals. Are humans monsters just because they hunt to survive. Because these creatures prey on humans, elves, dwarves and beast men they are called monsters but that is just a bias opinion. All creatures deserve to live, all creatures deserve the freedom to make their own choices. Helping the fairies and humans while ignoring the other creatures of this world doesn¡¯t seem like something a god of balance would do. Good and evil are just two sides of the same coin. This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. I wave my hand in the air and scry the world for the giant species. They will be the ones I will influence first. The reason I chose them was because, for the most part, they seem to mostly fight with the dwarves. The dwarves have very few dangers since they¡¯re holed up in their mountain and they should be able to handle the giants, even with the improvements I had in mind. I also chose the giants because of the idea I had to improve them. Looking at the giants, they mostly either venture out alone or form small groups of 4-5. Not only that but their intelligence is seriously lacking. Probably on average their intelligence is equivalent to a three year old. That got me thinking. Giants seem to be just really big toddlers with no understanding of right and wrong. Sure they eat people, but to them, it¡¯s just like if I would eat a hotdog. If I could bring them together like I plan to do for the beast tribe and the fairies, then they could be a powerful force. Bringing them together as a powerful force won¡¯t do much good with their intelligence as it is. Worst case, they come together and rampage across the continent. No, while bringing them together is an idea down the road what they need is intelligence. If I could increase the newer generation¡¯s intelligence then they might be able to build villages, farms and form alliances with their neighbors instead of constantly attacking every one they see. I grab the fourth pseudo core and start whispering to it. ¡°Observe your surrounding young one.¡± ¡°Learn from your mistakes.¡± ¡°Arn¡¯t you a curious one.¡± On this core I only need to encourage the soul to be curious and hungry for knowledge while giving the core the instructions to raise the creatures intelligence. All four cores are done in a month. Having pseudo cores has greatly decreased the time needed for the finished product not to mention that all 4 of these core were only enhanced in one area. Putting on the final touches, I take the three light cores and start to tweak the properties of light these core¡¯s will be using. Light is growth, light is energy. For this to work I have to be able to make the connection between the light element and the healing magic. Basically I tweak the property of the light to stimulate cell growth in the body and vitalize the body. This is done by converting the light magic into energy that supercharges the body¡¯s recovery speed. Converting light magic into energy the body can use will not only increase one regeneration but also enhance the body to become stronger, faster, tougher depending on where you direct the energy. This way, when some one cuts their arm, light magic can be used to stimulate the cell causing the wound to heal right before your eyes. I take out the last two pseudo cores from the house and get right to work with the first one. This one will be the next fairy handmaiden with the element of water. I focus first on the core¡¯s affinity and connection towards water. This I can do with little thought and allow it to absorb the water from the lake and air while pushing it to the side so I can concentrate the rest of my attention on the last core. For this core I want to do something about the goblin race. The goblins are simple creatures that lack not only intelligence but also strength. They make up for this by having an incredible reproduction rate. Probably the greatest after the giant Arachne species. What I wanted to do was evolve the species like I have been doing with the fairies. I looked at the pseudo core and tried to think of a way to do this. Nothing came to mind. The core¡¯s are great ways to exert some influence towards the newer generation¡¯s growth, but when dealing with the current generation my cores are just not that compatible. With the fairies I was able to take advantage of the elemental connection to form a buffer and catalyst as well as their deep magic that is otherwise useless to change and evolve a single fairy into a higher existence. This method won¡¯t work for many other species, if at all. I tried to think. What gives change to allow a new species to form? DNA. I concentrate on my power and materialize a small dagger. Have I mentioned how cool it is being a god. I poke my finger enough to draw blood and will the drop to levitate in front of me. My wound instantly heals. I ponder the drop of blood for a moment before focusing some of my free magic into my eyes. I stare at the drop of blood, peering deeper and deeper. I see millions of different cells from red blood cells, to white blood cells, platelets and plasma. I focus into the red blood cell and see the different components of the cell. The nucleus, the mitochondria, all is bare before my eyes. I dive deep into the nucleus to my DNA. It¡¯s so small I wrap my magic to amplify the image of the section of the DNA I¡¯m looking at, making it easier to scroll through my DNA and view the base pairs. I use my magic to poke and prod my DNA and realize that it wouldn¡¯t take much to make changes. Like this, I could probably use this as a bases for manipulating the DNA of the goblins and cause change in the current generation. There is one problem though. I have no idea what changes will cause what mutations. I¡¯m looking at a strand of DNA but it¡¯s useless if I don¡¯t know how to manipulate it to cause the desired effect. What I need is a system or program that would simplify the whole process. Kind of like in those MMORPGs. If you reach the right requirements then you can select the type of change you want to undergo and presto. Your very genetic makeup is changed. Is it possible to create a system like that. I kind of did something similar with the status screen magic. I look into the core to see if I can manipulate the DNA from the core but of course I can¡¯t. The core is something I made and doesn''t have any DNA to change. When a core is formed, a type of a soul is created and shaping that soul gives me some influence early on in the fetus¡¯s development. Changing a bear cub to a lion cub is actually not that difficult because the base is already built. Changing a bear cub to a goblin or a dwarf is all but impossible by this method. Seems like I need another method to influence my world. I glance at a corner of my realm that I hardly ever pay attention to and set my sight on the small white light in the corner. That was suppose to lead me to a common realm shard by the different gods. To be honest I almost forgot about it¡¯s existence. Maybe they will have some advice for me and give me a better understanding about things in general? I¡¯ve mostly just been winging it. It¡¯s decided then. I¡¯ll finish this last core and then head on out to the unknown. I sent the pseudo core back to its place on the rack and gave the water fairy handmaiden¡¯s core my full attention. It took me a month to complete the three light cores and the giant core with my attention and power divided between them. For the handmaiden it took me around the same time. Not only did I have to shape the core and whisper my influence but I also had to add an water affinity and increase it¡¯s potential to gold rank. Pretty good for a months work if i do say so myself. With the cores done I wait until the day of the full moon and set out to find suitable host. I look into the elven city and find a pregnant elf. Hehehe, won¡¯t they be surprised. I head to the human city of Xaisor and find a medicine wife and farmer husband already 2 months pregnant. This will do perfectly. Not only will this child grow up with light affinity but will also have a good foundation of this worlds medicine and practices. Not only that but as the city is in the middle of the other human cities it will make traveling to get healed easier than having to travel to the opposite side. The last light core I send to the dwarves. surprisingly i don¡¯t have many suitable choices but I pick the family of blacksmiths to birth this light affinity child. 2 more to go. I grab the giant¡¯s core and scry for a giant that is suitable. I find a few but most of these giants are not good parents. Sometimes they are abusive to their kids, sometimes they abandon them and sometimes they just don¡¯t understand how to take care of a baby and neglect it for to long leading to it¡¯s death. I pull up the stats of the expecting mothers skipping most of the information about them to find some who already have had children who have survived. I finally settle on a giant named Shelly. I send off the core to it¡¯s new host and watch helplessly as a sudden attack of anxiety built up in my stomach. It quickly passed but it worried me all the same. Am I interfering to much in the world? Did I make a mistake in the creation of that core? Perhaps it was a coincidence and I was sensing a disturbance in the force? Whatever it was, it seems like this is definitely a good time to take a break for a few hours. After I initiate my new fairy handmaiden of course. Night had fallen and I scry to the elven city. I already know which fairy to choose. It wasn¡¯t an easy decision either. Unlike the fire fairy, there were quite a few fairies that loved water. I search for a suitable water source to send out my calling. I decide on the huge water fountain in the center of the city. ¡°Come¡± I say as I infuse my voice with my mana. ¡°Come little fairies, it¡¯s time to dance and sing! Come, Come, Come!¡± Soon fairies are streaming into the plaza, surrounding the fountain. Last time they were nervous and confused. Now there was a nervous excitement in the air. I let my voice float softly on the wind. ¡°Sing my fairies, dance. There is a full moon out. Let us celebrate!¡± I already knew that most of my message wouldn¡¯t get through but I tried to send out emotions of excitement, wonder and fun. The fairies began to sing, slowly at first, but it increased with every passing minute. Elves began to appear outside the mass of fairies, curiosity plain in their eyes. There were a lot more this time than last time. Music filled the air and the fairies began to dance. Once again magic filled the air electrifying the fairies, enticing and encouraging them to madness. Prya stood on the outside. At first she was studying each fairy but a time went on and the magic filled the air it was obvious that she was desperately trying to control herself. She was such a clever girl, was she trying to figure out which fairy was going to become a handmaiden? A few pixies hovered beyond the elves. I only recognized one of them. As the magic reached it''s peak I focused in on a small average fairy. She stood out in no outstanding way, forced to the edge of the mass of fairies. ¡°What are you waiting for little one. This is your night.¡± Rain clouds formed and soon a thick rain fell. Interesting. I didn''t do that. Drenched in rain, the small average fairy¡¯s smile grew even bigger. She rose to the storm clouds spinning about before power diving straight into the fountain. Once she made contact with the water I shot the core at her. Everything stopped as the fairies gathered around the fountain but the fairy had disappeared. Prya looked on with an ecstatic expression on her face. Soon a torrent of water shot out of the fountain into the sky. The rain clouds disappeared and floating above the plaza was a stunning fairy. At 2¡¯1 her hair grew down her back and into a light blue color. Her features perfect with out a flaw. Her wings before were like all fairies, thin but plain. Now they looked like glass featuring designs of calm seas, storms raging and tsunami¡¯s striking. Looking down at her audience she gave a cute shy smile before making eye contact with Prya. They both flew at each other at the same time, both wearing a huge grin. They grabbed each other¡¯s hand twirled around, laughing non stop. The other fairies and elves exploded into activity as they went to meet their new handmaiden. I would have liked to stay and enjoy the party but I had places to go and gods to meet. Chapter 5 Realm Eternal Chapter 5 AN/ Sigh¡ I know, I know. Idk what to say. I was trying to be responsible and get work that I need to catch up on done before I went back to writing. Unfortunately I¡¯m lazy and a procrastinator and I just couldn¡¯t catch with the work I had to do in a timely matter which pushed this chapter until I could get it done. At the end I said just fuck it and wrote the chapter but by that time I had already forgotten where I was going with this chapter so¡ don¡¯t know how it turned out. Those of you who suggested names, I tried to incorporate some. Shorter chapter than I wanted but I just had to finish it as it was bugging me. _________________________________________________________ Now that I¡¯ve taken care of business in my world it¡¯s time to meet my fellow gods and goddess. ¡°Coco, watch the house. I¡¯ll be back in a few hours.¡± Coco barked in reply and drifted away. I start to make my way towards the white spot in the corner of my realm that¡¯s suppose to take me to the shared realm of the gods. The closer and closer I get to it the stronger I feel a force pulling me towards the light. One second I was walking in my realm and the next I felt a sharp tug in the pit of my stomach as I flew through space at an unimaginable speed. I had little time to take in my movement when suddenly it stopped. Looking at my surroundings was very disorienting. I was standing in a open field with a log cabin standing about a hundred yards away when the scene flickered to white before changing to a large modern city. Again and Again the scenery changed every 10 to 15 seconds. It became a dark forest, then a desert, then some kind of cloud structures in the sky. My surrounding changed constantly. Some I could recognize and other were just too strange or disturbing. Besides the unstable scenery their were so many people, or I assume gods, that I didn¡¯t know where to look. The gods came in all shapes and sizes with some being animal based, some being made entirely of elements and some looking like they came straight out of the mythology stories. I saw groups of gods in deep conversations, others playing dangerous games that resulted in large amounts of space being destroyed and others were just walking with a look of purpose off to the horizon. ¡°Hey newbie, close your mouth, as it is, you¡¯re going to catch flies.¡± Noticing my jaw had dropped I closed my mouth and turned towards my speaker. It was a goddess. Of what I wouldn''t know. She was currently sitting under a tree reading through a scroll. Her golden hair ran down her back. The light armor she wore was untarnished. Glasses covered her yellow eyes and a small nose piercing was placed on the right side of her face. As she read, the ground under her changed to a small wall like fence, then a boulder in a cave then a... You get the idea. With all the changes going around she hardly seemed in convened. In fact none of the gods and goddess seemed to even notice the changes. "Sorry. This is the first time here and everything is just so different." " Newbies." She said as she shook her head in exhaustion. " If you don''t mind, your kind of the first goddess I''ve talked to and I''ve kind of been a little lost since I''ve died. You mind if I ask you a few questions.¡± The goddess sighed as she closed her scroll causing it to vanish. ¡°You¡¯re lucky I¡¯m a goddess of hospitality or else I might have blasted you across this realm for interrupting my research.¡± The goddess said with a scowl. ¡°You don¡¯t seem very hospitable.¡± I muttered. ¡°Tsk. That¡¯s why you¡¯re such a newbie. Just because I have a title doesn¡¯t mean it defines me. I¡¯m still me despite being a goddess of hospitality. You¡¯ll find that a lot of gods are not what their titles seem and if you want to enjoy your immortal life then the sooner you realize this the better. Take her for an example.¡± She pointed to a goddess who looked kind of like an elf with two small horns barely poking above her brown hair. ¡°She¡¯s Melka, a goddess of dairy. Unfortunately she¡¯s lactose intolerant. See that guy over there?¡± She said as she pointed to a hulking figure dawned in the wickedest armor I¡¯ve ever seen with the most dangerous looking edge weapons I¡¯ve ever seen. Just looking at those blades felt like I was seconds away from being sliced. His eyes held a maddening light and his black hair flowed through nonexistent wind. ¡°He¡¯s Barus Doru, a god of war whose a pacifist. Hatios over there is a goddess of children and fun but she hates kids, Aqulona is a goddess of the sea but she gets sea sick. See that guy over there? He¡¯s Vorm god of good will and positive karma. He has his worshipers commit regular sacrifices to gain his faith and blessings. As long as you perform your job it doesn''t really matter what you do.¡± i had to think about that for a second. ¡°Can I ask you a question?¡± ¡°You already have but you can ask another one.¡± ¡°You said your a goddess of hospitality right? Then what do you do in your world? How do you affect your world with hospitality?¡± ¡°Simple really. I gain faith and power from my worshipers and use some of that power to grant protection to guest and host as well as bless people who help their fellow woman.¡± ¡° So you gain power from worshipers and use it to exert your will on your world. Does everyone interact with their world like this?¡± ¡°Gods no. Their are millions of ways for us to interact with our worlds, this is just one of the more popular options.¡± That was probably an easier way than my core method but I don¡¯t really like the idea of being worshiped. It feels too much like I¡¯m scamming my people for money or in this case faith. ¡°I don¡¯t really feel like being worshiped will work well with me. I¡¯ve been interacting with my world mostly by affecting the newer generation before they are born but is their any way that I can affect those that are already born?¡± ¡°Of corse their are. I could rattle off a hundred ways off the top of my head but most wouldn¡¯t be very viable for such a newbie god like your self. Things like avatars, summons, transfiguration and the like are too advance for you right now. It takes centuries for gods to have enough power to attempt those things.¡± ¡°Thats disappointing.¡± But avatars seem like an interesting idea. ¡°hmm, can I make something that has the ability to make the changes to my world while being connected to my will?¡± The goddess paused for a second. ¡°Well¡ yeah it has been done before but most wouldn¡¯t think of using this method when their are easier and¡ safer methods.¡± ¡°Whats so dangerous about it?¡± ¡°First of all you are essentially creating something with the powers of a god in the mortal realm. That alone is dangerous not only for your world but it also is something that gets the notice of the elder gods. Not only that but to make something like that follow your will you will need to place a piece of your soul in it so your able to establish a connection with it and have it follow your will. Damaging your soul can lead to mental, physical and magical instabilities if not done properly. It¡¯s just not worth the risk.¡± ¡°hmm¡± She gave me an annoyed look. ¡°Your not thinking of attempting something like that are you?¡± I gave her my killer smile that just bounced right off her. ¡°I¡¯m just trying to collect some information. I don¡¯t know what I¡¯m going to do.¡± ¡°Humph. Men. I don¡¯t even know why I try. I tire of this. I¡¯m going home.¡± She abruptly turned around and started to walk away. ¡°Hey! Wait!¡± I yelled. ¡°I¡¯m really new at all this so maybe can I call you sometime for some advice?¡± She sighed before twisting her body and pointing her hand at me. Her hand started to glow before a string of symbol of flowed from her fingertips to the back of my hand. The symbols swirled around for a second before forming a tattoo of a owl landing on a pineapple. The goddess started to walk away. ¡° I never got your name!¡± She looked back at me one last time. ¡°Dami Mina, goddess of hospitality and wisdom.¡± and just like that she disappeared. I still had lots more questions but for now I had somethings to think about. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°Hahaha, I¡¯m very surprised you got our little Mina to talk to you for so long. She isn¡¯t one for long conversations.¡± A male voice said behind me. I turned around and in front of me was a male figure with a giant rooster¡¯s head stuck on his neck. It totally weirded me out. ¡°Of course you know who I am,¡± he said as he stuck out his chest confidently ¡° but who are you.¡± ¡°umm. Jacob Hart, god of balance.¡± ¡°Ho ho, good to meet you. If you need anything don¡¯t hesitate to ask. For I am a wise and generous god.¡± He beamed at me. I couldn¡¯t help but think that this god was arrogantly stupid but if he was willing to answer some more of my questions who was I to judge. Before I could reply another god came and interrupted. ¡°Stop bothering the newbie you chicken shit.¡± Chicken shit growled at the imposing mass of shadows that just insulted him. He was literally just made of shadows. His form twisted and bent as though he had little control over how his body moved. ¡°Sharven, no one asked you for your opinion. Go back to the cave you crawled out of, unless you want me to kick your ass.¡± umm, I don¡¯t think he even had an ass. ¡°Big words coming from you, but we all know just how much of a chicken you really are. If you have the balls then come at me.¡± The tension between the two was palpable. The air began to waver as power washed over the two gods. Watching the power those two wield just showed how much of a gap was between us. ¡°There they go again.¡± People whispered. ¡°How many times are they going to do this.¡± ¡°I bet ten worlds on Sharven.¡± ¡°Why are Aronen and Sharven such a children.¡± Apparently this happened often. No need to get involved in this, not that I could do anything. I quietly slipped away determined to explore more of this realm when suddenly I heard a explosion in the direction of those two gods. All I saw was a wave of fire coming at me from their direction. I think its time to go. Since coming to this realm my connection with my own realm was as strong as ever. As if we were connected by a strong elastic band that I stretched out to reach this realm. It was the easiest thing in the world to just let go and allow this band to reel me back home. The fire storm reached me but I was already gone. Landing in my realm I noticed that everything was the same as when I left it. Glad to know that it could be left for about an hour with out going straight to hell. Walking into my house I was greeted my Coco. ¡°Good job taking care of the place Coco.¡± Who wolfed in response. Giving him a quick rub I glanced to see how long I was gone. ¡°UGH!!!! NOT AGAIN!!!! Chapter 6 Coming of Age Chapter 6 AN/ So I went on a hiatus without telling anyone and I thought I would upload the first half of chapter 6 thats been on my computer for 2-3 months now. Just something to hold you over for now. Hopefully I¡¯ll get back in the swing of things. _________________________________________________________ Leon ------------- Sigh. What to do what to do. I gave a long lazy stretch high upon my tree branch as I contemplated my problem. Tomorrow I would turn 15 and officially be a man in the eyes of my tribe. It¡¯s also the time when I will officially be apart of the packs hierarchy structure where I must fight for my place in the pack. But I¡¯ve already realized its useless. While most of the tribe has tolerated my presence these last 15 years, their is no way they will allow me to climb the ladder of the pack. Not an outsider like me, not a freak like me. No, tomorrow they will come at me to kill. I might be able to fight off the first few challengers but I can¡¯t defeat the whole tribe. My only option is to leave. ¡°Are you all not one people?¡± The wind whispered. I was use to that, the voices that no one else could hear. They seemed to come from the depths of my soul. Wanting me to change the tribes, to unite them, to become strong. What a joke. What can I do? If my own tribe won¡¯t even accept me, how am I suppose to get the other tribes to follow me. No, it¡¯s time for me to leave this place. Tasting the air I caught a familiar scent. Looking out to the distance I could just make out the figure of my only friend in the tribe. Emily cautiously walked towards me, each step slow and deliberate, pausing ever few seconds to sample the surrounding scents. Her frizzy brown hair came up to her shoulders and her milky white eyes were unfocused and empty. A year older than me and blind from birth, she did not have an easy life in a tribe that valued strength. ¡°Leon, I brought you lunch.¡± she said as she held up a picnic basket. ¡°Great, I¡¯m starved.¡± I launched off the tree branch and landed in front of her. As she began to unpack the picnic I couldn¡¯t help but be surprised at the assortment of food. ¡°What¡¯s all this? Where did you get this from?¡± ¡°It¡¯s your birthday tomorrow so I bought some of the food the elves traded with the tribe.¡± ¡°The elves?¡± ¡°Yeah. It seems their forest has been a lot safer as of late so they¡¯ve been venturing out and trading with the different beast tribes.¡± Hmmm, the elves. Maybe I¡¯ll go visit them. It might be interesting to live among the elves and fairies. The wind shifted allowing me to catch a scent of someone I did not want to encounter today. Marco and his lackeys made their way to us. They were the bullies of our generation who seemed to have it out for us. Two years older than me, they loved to flaunt their strength. ¡°The two runts of the tribe out here on a romantic date. Ha. If you two mated we would be up to our armpits in weaklings.¡± Marco announced as his friends laughed at his joke. I just sighed. ¡°What do you want Marco.¡± ¡°I just came to tell you that I can¡¯t wait for tomorrow. I can finally put you in your place. Although if you beg me Emily, I might keep his face in tact for you.¡± ¡°Your not wanted here. Leave.¡± I said as Emily stared at the ground blushing. ¡°Haha. See you tomorrow runt.¡± I watch as Marco left. ¡°Don¡¯t pay them any mind.¡± Emily continued staring at the ground before looking in my direction. ¡°But what are you going to do. They intend to kill you.¡± ¡°I know.¡± I took a bite of one of the fruits from the elves. We ate in silence before I spoke up. ¡°I¡¯m leaving the tribe. Maybe see the elves or the human cities.¡± Emily was quite for a while. ¡°I understand.¡± She gave me a fragile smile as she got up. ¡°You can come with me if you want.¡± I said. She shook her head. ¡°No, I would only get in your way.¡± She started to make her way back the way she came. ¡°Just come see me before you leave. I want to say goodbye.¡± As she walked away I smelt the tears running down her face. Telling my parents was difficult but they understood. I packed up my few belongings and waited for tomorrow. It was right before sunrise when I started to make my way to Emily''s. I had just enough time for a quick goodbye before the tribe started waking up. Approaching her house the first thing I noticed was the lingering scent of blood around her house. With a swift kick her front door flew off the hinges and I headed inside. I followed her scent to her room where I found Marco and his friends standing over her blooded corpse. Her face was covered with blood and her chest was caved in. We beast tribes can stand a lot of damage and can eventually heal most injuries but her listless body only showed signs of death. ¡°Leon,¡± Marco said as he raised his blooded hands and made his way towards me. ¡°We were just getting ready for round two. Come back in a few hours. Hahaha.¡± I closed my eyes and sighed. Emily was dead and their was nothing I could do about it. I opened my eyes and looked at Marco standing across from me. Before he said anything my hand shot out, back handing him into the wall. His two friends watched as Marco slammed against the wall before turning back towards me. Too late, I was already upon them. A quick kick sent one flying against the wall leaving me ample time to deal with the remaining one. He growled at me and sent a fist towards my face. So slow. Bears were not know for their speed, not like me. I ducked below his strike and tackled him to the ground. The others were already recovering so I had to make this quick. I opened my muzzle as he tried to pry me off him and ripped open his throat. He died in seconds. I looked at the other lackey and smiled at him, showing off my blood stained teeth. He back pedaled in shock which was all I needed as I leap at him and started landing blows. A few quick punches to his chest had him gasping for breath and a sharp punch to his chin left him dazed and confused and totally vulnerable. I grabbed hold of his head and gave it a sharp turn. The snap was audible as I laid eyes on my last opponent. Marco. My father may not have been very high on the pecking scale but he was a warrior of the tribe and taught me what he could. Marco roared in rage as magic wrapped around him. Fur grew around him, his mouth already elongated grew longer by the second. Fool. As if I¡¯ll let you turn. As his arms snapped and transformed causing him to collapsed on the floor I raced over to him. In three steps I was on him striking at every available space. Stuck in-between his transformation he could do nothing as I repeatedly bashed his face until it was nothing but mush. Barely breathing, I went to work dismantling him. Taking out his legs then his arms. I struck and I stuck, letting out the rage I had onto him. He was dead long before I was finished. Looking at Emily¡¯s body I just could not believe how messed up the tribes were. How can this be allowed, how can they accept this. She never hurt anyone and she couldn¡¯t even defend herself. ¡°You¡¯re all one people. Unite the tribes.¡± Shut up. I crush the voice with my will. I don''t want to lead these people but I won¡¯t let something like this happen again. If they can¡¯t act right on their own then I¡¯ll make them. They can either follow me or die. The water fairy was sitting across from me eyes closed, in deep meditation. Or at least she was suppose to be. We were sitting in the meditation hall of the handmaiden temple that the elven king made for us. Eight cushions were placed in a circle with an altar dedicated to a specific element standing behind them. A small fire blazed in my alter behind me while water streamed back and forth in the fountain alter behind Aquiris. Suddenly a knock sounded at our front door. ¡°Perfect timing, I¡¯ll go make us lunch.¡± Aquiris said as she bounded out of the room followed by a stream of water coming from her altar. I sighed before standing up. The fire behind me leaped at me and wrapped around my wrist like a living bracelet. ¡°After lunch we are continuing the lesson!¡± I yelled. Opening the door I come face to face with the captain of the royal guards. An older looking elf but no less dangerous than his younger companions. ¡°Marcus, good morning. We are just having breakfast. Won¡¯t you join us.¡± ¡°I¡¯m afraid not.¡± He smiled at me. ¡°I¡¯m here to give you a message. The king would like the handmaidens advice on a personal matter. If you have the time of course.¡± ¡°We always have time for the king. We will leave now.¡± Heading for the kitchen I yelled for Aquiris. ¡°Aquiris!!!¡± ¡°Oh!¡± I reached the kitchen in time to see Aquiris wrapping a towel around her bleeding finger. ¡°What happened?¡± ¡°Nothing, Nothing. I was cutting some fruit when you called. You scared me for second and I cut myself.¡± After getting Aquiris bandaged up we heading for the palace. As we reached the throne room, I noticed it was unusually empty. Normally when the king was there you can find all sorts of nobles, advisors and guards coming in and out of room. Today their was only the king, the young prince that would be turning ten soon and the captain of the royal guards. ¡°Your majesty. How can we be of service.¡± ¡°Prya, I¡¯m glad you were able to make it. To be honest we are a little lost and you two are the only ones that might be able to figure out what has happened. As you know my son is to be tested soon to check his magical affinity. The mages can sense the magic in him and has confirmed that he has great potential to wield magic but when we decided to check his affinity early, well, the result are dumbfounding.¡± The king waved his hands to his guard captain who produced a glass ball with a refined mana stone inside of it. A classic method for determining ones elemental affinity. ¡°Son, show the handmaidens what happens when you add your mana.¡± The boy stepped up took the glass ball in his hand before concentrating. The ball Glowed slightly but nothing else happened. Odd. When you place your mana into the glass it should show you what element you have the highest potential in. All magic is elemental based and the fact that the glass had a reaction at all proves he is a young mage. But if we were to go by these results it would see as though he has no elemental affinity. I¡¯d never even heard of something like that. ¡°Odd isn¡¯t it. We have tried other methods to test the affinity but they have all come up empty. Since you two are the closest anyone has ever seen when it comes to the elements I thought you might have some insight.¡± ¡°Sister, perhaps a direct link might yield results¡± Aquiris said. ¡°Yes, that is probably the only thing we can do. We both have a high sensitivity to our specific elements. We might be able to sense what type of affinity his magic leans towards if we concentrate enough on it. Honestly, I don¡¯t think this has much of a chance. This will only work if he has a fire or water affinity. Even if he doesn¡¯t have an affinity it won¡¯t slow him down too much. He can still use any magic he wants, only it will take a little more work than some others. Hold out your hands.¡± I told the boy as I walked towards him. I placed my palms on top of his and began concentrating on the mana he held and if their was a connection with the fire element. ¡° Send a steady stream of your mana into my hands. It doesn''t have to be a large amount just take your time, were in no rush.¡± After a while sensing his mana I had to give up. Either I wasn¡¯t able to sense his fire affinity or he just didn¡¯t have one. ¡°I guess it¡¯s my turn.¡± Aquiris said as she stood next to the boy and placed her hands over his. It was not even five minutes when I noticed the frown on Aquiris¡¯s face. Tentatively she retracted her hands from the boy before shaking them out. ¡°Something wrong?¡± I asked. ¡°Huh. Oh no.¡± She answered before placing her hands back over the boys. Again not five minutes pass before she pulled her hands away and frowned. ¡°What¡¯s wrong? Is something wrong? Is it more serious than we thought?¡± The king franticly said. ¡° No, no. Prya can I check something with you? Come over here. Yes give me your hands and send me a steady stream of your mana¡± I did as she asked. After a while she frowned again. ¡°What is it?¡± ¡°I can¡¯t explain it but when he sent his mana to my hands the cut on my finger stopped hurting.¡± ¡°What?¡± ¡°When we did the same thing I still felt the throbbing cut on my finger but with him I don¡¯t feel any pain at all.¡± ¡°What are you talking about. That doesn¡¯t even make sense.¡± ¡°I know but I can only explain what I feel¡± Aquiris said with a determined expression. How can his magic do something like that. Again, I¡¯ve never heard of something like that before. Perhaps a experiment. I reached down my leg were I kept a small dagger and made a small cut on my arm. Not to deep be enough to feel. ¡°What are you doing!¡± multiple people screamed at me but I had to see for my self. I went to the boy and asked him to do as he did before. Just like what Aquiris was saying I felt a noticeable lack of pain when he sent a stream of magic to me. In fact the cut started to itch. Odd. I have never hear of any elemental magic able to take pain away from someone. Perhaps, this is the birth of a new element?
