《I Shall Stand Supreme》
Chapter 00 – Prologue
In the beginning of time there was nothing but a formless and still blackness. This was before planets had been born, when darkness and emptiness inhabited the universe. In the middle of the universe an egg was born. And in this egg, a small boy whose name was Pan Gu grew. As time passed, he became even bigger and eventually turned into a giant.
But all good come to an end.
Eighteen thousand years later, Pan Gu became to big for the small egg to contain. Under the strain of his body and muscles, he was disturbed from his deep slumber. And when he woke up, he discovered that he was stuck inside this egg. Pan Gu became furious and pushed his strong limbs in two directions, cracking the egg in two, and thereby splitting the formless, intermingled energy into yin and yang.
The upper eggshell became the sky, and the yin energy merged within it, while the the lower egg shell became the earth, the yang energy within that. Two pieces of eggshell flew out into the formless void, creating the sun and the moon. The moon came from the lower eggshell, therefore yin, while the sun came from the upper eggshell, therefore yang.
But instead of the freedom that he so sought, only loneliness and utter despair was left for the giant. To stop the eggshells from falling down onto each other and crash, he had to hold them up. And as the eternal passage of time continued; He, the sky and the earth became bigger and wider.
After millions of years, Pangu stood at his last breath, for his time was out. His vitality at its end. But from his last wish to not be alone, to have something more, he became the foundation for the new lives to come. And as he died, the sky and earth took root, needing him to support no longer.
Pangu¡¯s breath became the wind and clouds,
His body and limbs turned into the five big mountains of mortal tribulation,
His blood transformed the roaring water,
Veins became far-stretching roads
and his muscles became the fertile land,
Tears flowed to make rivers
the radiance of his eyes turned into thunder and lighting,
The flowers and trees came from his skin and the fine hairs on his body,
His marrow turned to jade and pearls,
His sweat flowed like the good rain and sweet dew that nurtured all things on the lands,
And his most precious thought gave birth to the life that wandered this world.
His thought gave birth to four mighty creatures
and hundred humanoid descendants of himself.
The massive turtle
its shell covering several hundred of kilometers
and its feet make hundred meter marks when it walks.
It has attained the creator¡¯s longevity and sturdiness.
The dragon
Thousand of kilometers long
wingspan several kilometers wide, symbolizing strenght and aggression
the strongest of them all
The phoenix
merely a hundred meters big
from it burns the flames of never-ending.
reborn from its ashes brimming with vitality
The quilin
smallest and most special of them all.
wise and righteous
punishes the wicked without remorse,
only appearing when it senses evil.
Albeit smaller, the hundred humanoid creatures were created in Pan Gu¡¯s image.
From these descendants of Pan Gu, two leaders emerged.
Pan

Yama
Strong and fierce,
Born with a righteous mind.
The pieces has been put on the board
let those weak fall, and those strong stand
The game of life and death has begun!
Trillions of years later ¨C
¡°My son, you must make our clan proud again. The time is due, Pan and his emperors will be here in a couple of breaths. Remember, you are the son of the second, therefore destined for greatness! I love you, my son. Goodbye.¡±
*BOOOOOOOM*
Somewhere else ¨C
Jargon revolved his cultivation base.Energy gushed rapidly and flowed through all his different body channels before leaving from his hands.
¡°Flames of hell¡± His yell echoed inside the dark and moist cave. The uneven cave walls vibrated from his voice and the intensity of yang energy gathered in such a small space.
Out from the palms of his hand, red-colored flames emerged as quickly as thunder strikes from the sky and soared across the room towards the energy beast of the first stage in front of him. The soaring flames converged into faces of people, with expressions of agony and suffering. Children, men, women and elderly, they all filled the cave room with screams of pain.
The energy beast of the first stage, a gigantic iron-spike snake, spewed out gold colored mist. The metallic mist it tried to block the flames with screaming face.
*Hiss*
The gigantic iron-spike-snake¡¯s alarming sound was drowned in the screams of pain and suffering by the faces as they ignited the metallic mist, turning the mist into nothing but forlorn ash. Merely breaths later, the giant iron-spike snake, measured fifteen meters long, became a lump of iron as it was melted by the extreme heat of the flames of hell conjured by Jargon.
*Phew*
Jargon took a breath of relief and sat down on the ground. The cave he was in was one he recently discovered and had decided to venture in. But to his surprise and dismay, it was completely filled with a variety of energy beasts.
Most of them were of the first realm of cultivation, energy gathering realm, while the beast he fought and successfully killed now was of the second realm, energy tempering realm.
The first realm was the realm were cultivators inhaled the natural world energy in specific breathing exercises called mantras. Then, they leaded the energy inhaled through their body channels into their lower dan tian, two centimeters below the navel.
Jargon was at the second realm of cultivation, the energy tempering realm. Upon reaching the ninth stage of energy gathering realm, cultivators had to combine their energy with their soul to create an energy soul. After creating an energy soul, the cultivator had advanced to the second realm.
¡°Luckily, this energy beast of the tempering stage was of the metal element. I would have lost if it had been water¡¡±
There were two types of energy in this world, yang and yin. Yang is masculine and yin is feminine. Yang energy and Yin energy were further divided into five elements. Fire and wood belonged to the category of yang, water and metal belonged to the yin category. And the last element, Earth, didn¡¯t belong to either of the two categories, it was an element with fifty percent yang and fifty percent yin energy
Fire countered metal, water countered fire, wood countered water and metal countered wood. Nothing was truly invincible in this world. But naturally, if a fire cultivator encountered a water cultivator, defeat wasn¡¯t certain. But usually, the countered element was at a disadvantage.
¡°Let¡¯s go!¡±
Jargon rose up from the seated position on the cave ground and began to venture further inside the cave. The cave gradually began to open up and become wider. The walls became more smooth. He had not encountered any other energy beast after the gigantic iron-spike snake.
¡°It¡¯s truly weird. It seems as if the cave tunnel will soon lead the way out to a big cave room. And since there haven¡¯t been any more energy beasts other than the gigantic iron-spike snake, there¡¯s most likely an extremely powerful energy beast at the end of the tunnel. But if the possibility strikes true, I¡¯ll just have to escape very quickly. In the worst case, I¡¯ll use the a forbidden technique to increase my speed for a short amount of time.¡±
After deciding what to do, he continued onwards. In a short amount of, the time it took for an incense stick to burn, he arrived to a big metal door. On the door, a picture of a mythological monster was engraved. It was a quilin.
A Quillin¡¯s strength and might rivaled that of the legendary creatures; the dragon, a wingless, serpentine creature symbolizing power, strength, and good luck. Or the phoenix, symbolization of yang energy and the possibility to escape the nine cycles of rebirth. A quilin however, was something completely different. It would refuse to walk upon grass for fear of harming a single blade, and thus often depicted walking upon the clouds or water.
They were divine and peaceful creature. Yet, when wicked appears, their other side will show itself. Quillins are long forgotten creatures by many. According to ancient images, they looked like something between a horse and a dog with scales like a dragon and horns of a bull. There has only been one appearance in history of the main continent where they have appeared.
It was under the yellow sun, when the black emperor tried to pass his tribulation and achieve immortality, when a quillin appeared. With it, destruction followed. And when it had disappeared in the sky above, there was nothing left in its wake. The black emperor, his kingdom, his followers; they were all sent to hell to repent for their sins.
¡°I wonder, is it possible for it to be a Quilin in here? No¡ that shouldn¡¯t be possible¡ they are told to be extinct. ¡ Is it possible for there to be mythical relics here¡?¡±
He wondered why the door was here. Could it be the remains of an ancient civilization which blossomed and were visited by the mighty and legendary quilins?
¡°I guess there¡¯s nothing lost by opening the door, right?¡± He told himself and tried to push the door open, it didn¡¯t even budge a single centimeter with his physical strength.
He tried once more. This time, he revolved his cultivation base and yielded energy in his body as he pushed. *Gong* The door began to open, the massive metal doors produced a sound similar to the sound of an instrument named by the sound it emitted, gong. As he saw what was inside, he became speechless.
It wasn¡¯t a big cave, it was a small one. In the cave roof, light-blue shining crystals hung, giving the small cave a slight vision. And in the middle of the cave, there was a small pond. It was devoid of movements except for a big light-green lily pad that floated about. But that wasn¡¯t what made him speechless.
On top the big lily pad, there was a human child with most likely only a few days to his or her name. And beside the human child, a baby panda without fur laid. Even though the lily pad seemed to be as fragile as a strand of grass, it didn¡¯t even budge when carrying the small human child and baby panda¡¯s weight. It seemed as if though the Lily pad could carry anything, even the entire world.
Chapter 00 – Prologue 2
His thought gave birth to four mighty creatures; The turtle, the dragon, the phoenix and the quilin, and the hundred humanoid descendants of him.
The turtle was massive; it¡¯s shell covering several hundred of kilometers, it¡¯s feet made hundred meter marks when it walked. It attained the creator¡¯s longevity and sturdiness.
The dragon was thousand of kilometers long; it¡¯s wingspan several kilometers wide. Symbolizing strenght and aggression, it was the strongest of them all.
The phoenix was merely a thousand meters big. But from it burned the flames of never-ending. And when it died it was reborn from its ashes.
The quilin was the smallest and most special of them all. It had gotten the wisdom and righteousness of the creator, and punished those wicked without remorse. It only appeared when it senses evil.
The hundred humanoid creatures were given a part of everything. They were born in Pan Gu¡¯s image, albeit smaller than Pan Gu. From these hundred men an women, two leaders emerged, Pan and Yama. Pan was an intelligent and passive existence while Yama was strong, aggressive and born with a righteous mind.
But emotions are never easy to control. They were like oil and water and therefore could not coexist. And as avatars of the creator, they were proud and aloof. in the end a war broke out as they discussed on what to do with the last piece of Pan Gu, his brain.
Yama wanted to use the brain to create more life; to fulfill their creators last wish to make the world full of life. He wanted to create more creatures of Pan Gu¡¯s image, honoring his legacy, while Pan wanted to expand their world. And no matter what, they couldn¡¯t agree. Half of the humanoids stood on Yama¡¯s side, the other on Pan¡¯s side.
As they fought, their gigantic Bodies caused volcanoes to erupt, storms to brew and waves to roll. They fought bitterly and the blood spilled transformed into formless energy that sunk into the ground, which trillions and trillions of years later, became known as formless energy pools containing ancient power able to raise one''s cultivations several stages.
Finally, only eleven on each side were left. After the gruesome battle with seventy six of their kins killed, both sides decided to stop the fighting. It took years, but they finally made the decision to split the brain in half.
But no matter how they tried, they couldn¡¯t find the knowledge in themselves to use the brain. It was only until several years later that they discovered the energy of the world. The sun¡¯s rays gave yang energy to the lands and the moonlight gave yin energy.
With the knowledge of energy in the world and the wisdom of Pangu, they began to invent ways to increase their power and longevity by inhaling the energy in special ways. They began to understand the mysteries of the universe; how it came to be, and how the yin and yang energy intermingled.
Pan and his followers created a residence above the sky, they called it heaven. It was lying on top of the once half egg shell. Pan named himself emperor Pan and his followers to the emperors of Pan. With their high cultivation they could survive in that formless, ancient darkness outside the sky and earth. They named it space. As they began to explore the world, they found other pieces of the eggshell. These pieces had been growing since the beginning of time, and were miniature skies and earths themselves, Pan called them planets and stars.

Yama created the humans and animals, while Pan created the eternal valley of blossom inside the residence of heaven. Yama and his followers took a different route than Pan and his followers. With their knowledge and wisdom gained by Pangu, they created hell also known as Diyu. When humans and animals died they were judged there upon their karma.
Karma was the accumulation of good and bad deeds. Good karmic points would let one go through the nine cycles of rebirth and gain a new life. But with bad karmic, one would endure the circles of hell until the whole punishment had been taken. The time they spent in the circles of hell depended on the bad karmic points accumulated. After the time had been spent, they would go through the nine cycles of rebirth and gain a new life. All together, it became known as samsara; the repeating cycles of birth, life and death. The cycle of reincarnation.
Yama became the head judge of hell, king Yama, and his ten followers became the ten judges of hell, the ten kings of Yama. They judged the deceased dead and took them to the nice circles of hell where they were tormented until their punishment to be finished and also to renew the soul, making them ready for the next reincarnation or they brought them directly to the nine circles of rebirth. Memories were wiped clean each new life, to not disturb the harmony of the universe.
Later, they discovered Taos. There were multiple Taos in the universe, each describing a different principle. Mastering a Tao gave the wielder the ability to use the principle behind it. Later, for humankind, it became known as the heart¡¯s path. The path of one¡¯s heart, guiding one to immortality.
The legendary four creatures; The dragon, The turtle, The phoenix and the quilin became myths for mankind. They were rarely seen, especially the quilin. Each of the legendary creatures offered up their bodies and minds to duplicate themselves into a female and a man.
The female and male legendary creatures began to reproduce. And soon, four clans were created. The dragon clan, the turtle clan, the phoenix clan and the quilin clan. And with their knowledge and wisdom they knew that only bad things would come if they reproduced too much. Therefore, each of the clans stayed at hundred members each.
*Trillions of trillions years later*
A middle-aged man looked at a newborn baby, holding him within his hands. His voice shook as warm tears furrowed path on his face.
"Pan and his emperors will be any moment. I love you and will always do. Remember, you are the son of the second, therefore destined for greatness! We have to part now, time is running short. Avenge your clan, your family and your mother!
The man flashed his sleeves "poof!" The baby nowhere to be seen. Moments after, the doors to the palace hall were blown open. But instead of running away, the man closed his eyes, "Live well my son."

Chapter 01 – You shall reap what you sow
Hi guys, first chapter. This is only about 1,8k but I felt it was a good time to stop. Anyway, I wonder, do you think I should remove prologue two and three? Please comment what you think on that as well as what you think about this chap.
On a black cliff where waves were splashing against the shore below, a young boy stood with his head held up high. Black hair fell down to his shoulders and his skin had a healthy luster of copper. His blue ocean-colored eyes followed the rolling waves. Beside the boy, there a small panda with only one eye, whereas a scar covered the other. Its look was fierce.
¡°Little grey, it¡¯s time for us to begin our journey, too much time has been spent doing nothing.¡± His voice was very clean and each word was properly pronounced.
The small panda by his side, little grey, clenched its fur covered paws and spoke with a low growl containing tinges of anger, ¡°Finally...¡±
Andariel continued to inspect the waves, gradually moving his vision to the the sun that was about to be birthed. As it did every morning, day after day for eternity.
¡°The years of our suffering have been long, but today is the end of that. We have endured enough. And for that, those who made us suffer shall bear the price. An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. They took yours, so we shall take theirs.¡±
Turning around to look at Little grey, Andariel said, ¡°Let¡¯s go.¡±
Andariel sat inside his small hut standing on the left side of the settlement¡¯s walls. It was a simple and primitive dwelling. But what did it matter, it was only temporary. Soon he would join the Sen clan and move inside the walls where he would be given a residence to live in.
Sitting on the hard, creaky bed, he positioned himself in the lotus pose. It was a must for sensing the natural world energy. In this god forsaken world, only cultivation matters. And to cultivate, one has to inhale the natural world energy, purify it, and then store it within one¡¯s dantian.
There were nine realms in cultivation, signifying the nine circles of Diyu and the nine circles of rebirth. To overcome the shackles of mortality, one had to cultivate through these realms and complete the tribulations of the great five mountains.
Andariel was but at the first stage of the first realm. Others in his age had long ago set foot inside the second realm, and even the third and fourth. But compared to them, he had a reason to not.
Little grey was a peculiar energy beast. It had memories from its past generation and knew that the first and most important step towards immortality stars with building one¡¯s foundation. Without it, one cannot strive toward the higher realms. Therefore, Andariel had decided to not cultivate natural world energy before his body was strong enough.
So for these past years he had arduously trained his body to the limit of mortals. Continuously pushing himself to the limit in the forest, underwater and even in the hotter environments south of the island.
This of course, had not been without rewards. His body and slowly transformed itself into thick but lean cords of muscles. There was not an ounce of fat on his body. His bones were harder than iron and his muscles were vigorous like dragons.
¡°To sense the natural world energy, I have to go deep within myself, where no man nor beast have ever been. I have to go to my own dantian.¡±
For hours, he probed the area near his dantian in hope of succeeding in entering it. It wasn¡¯t until later in the day when he found it. As he entered his dantian, only barren lands was in his view. But he payed no heed, he knew that once he would begin to practice, it would become filled with life.
It was now dusk, and the sun was about to die down in the purple horizon. Andariel put his blue robe onto himself and exited the hut. Walking his way to the forest, he tried to find something to eat. He found some berries and nuts which was a good source for nutrients. Unfortunately, he saw no animals to hunt, making him slightly disappointed.
After washing himself in a river, he made his way back home. He once again entered the hut. This time, he didn¡¯t sit on the bed and laid down instead. Tomorrow he would go challenge an outer disciple on the sen clan, beat him and then enter the settlement and become an inner disciple himself.
*pa*
*pa* *pa*
The horrifying sound of palms hitting human flesh resounded in the arena. A white haired old man with ragged clothes spat out loads of blood and fell down with a low thud. Soon, a pool of blood was formed under his body.
Across the arena, an arrogant looking youth with a sneer on his face laughed triumphantly. His garment signified an outer disciple and in front of these outsiders, he did indeed had the right to be arrogant.
¡°Haha, you old trash. Why don¡¯t you just shoo away, your nothing but a stray dog!¡±
He gave the old man a kick, throwing him off the arena and into the crowd. As the body landed on the ground, an older woman began to sob. Her hands trembled as she stretched them out to caress the his face.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
¡°Why did you have to kill him? What did he do to you? How can you be so cruel?¡±
Tears slowly drizzled down from her cheeks, only her shattered voice could be heard. The crowd was completely silent, some began to cry while some turned their heads away. This was their fate if the couldn¡¯t become cultivators, being tossed around by the stronger and more powerful.
The young teenager laughed at the scene. He thought it was really funny and enjoyed when these outsiders broke. The best for him was to see them full of spirit before the fight and when the fight neared its end, their eyes were full of fear. That was the best moment, when they knew they had lost and that they would die.
"Haha, he was gonna die soon enough anyway."
¡°You..!¡± the old lady¡¯s expression became angry. This young man had just killed her husband whom she had been together with for over fifty years, and were acting like it never even happened. She totally lost it and entered the arena only to throw herself at him, ¡°You little bastard! How dare you!¡±
¡°Aw, shut up!¡± the young teenager mused and sent out a punch. It hit her right in the face and threw her backwards hitting the arena floor with a, ¡°Tong!¡± Before he could stomp on her back, several men from the crowd had moved her away.
Upon seeing this, the young teenagers face turned into a wide sneer. These outsiders were puny, worse than livestock. At least he could eat livestock. He laughed inwardly when he saw the old lady being drawn away. She got what she deserved for trying to attack him, an inner disciple of the sen clan.
¡°Why did you do that? Is that an challenge. You, yes you.¡± he pointed out one of the men who had taken the older lady away and said, ¡°Come up, you want to become an outer disciple, right? You will just have to defeat me.¡±
¡°Shut up.¡± a loud voice from the crowd bellowed.
¡°Ehh?¡± the young teenager became stunned. Someone actually told him to shut up, was this a joke? He quickly tried to locate the voice and when he did, he began to laugh, ¡°Haha, it¡¯s you again. You want me to beat you up worse than last time? Or maybe I should just kill you, hehe~?¡±
¡°Today, you shall reap what you once sow.¡±
A young boy, thirteen or so years judging from his effeminate features, emerged form the crowd and entered the arena. His black hair was tied up in a ponytail, and his blue eyes were sharp. It was Andariel.
¡°Haha, another stray dog has arrived, woohoo~!¡± the young teenager yelled laughingly, ¡°Now, let¡¯s see if the dog will bark but then run away like he usually does? Or is he here to fight?¡±
¡°You are but an outer disciple. What gives you the right to act like this? You kill us for nothing but your own entertainment. You are no real cultivator.¡±
Andariel¡¯s words pierced right through the young man¡¯s aloof facade. The crowd was stunned, when did this young boy become so sharp with words? At the same time, they truly hoped that the boy would beat this cruel outer disciple who terrorized them to the point of suicide. Sometimes, he would even beat up young children just to make his point.
The young teenager¡¯s face darkened. His brows lifted upwards, he said in a low tone, ¡°I¡¯ll kill you, bastard.¡± he leapt out toward andariel and kicked with his leg.
¡°You dare to dodge ME?¡±
Andariel dodged by a hair¡¯s width and made some distance between the two. He tried to calm down and remember Little grey¡¯s words resounding in his mind:
¡°Andariel, the first form of the Panda from the east is called nimble as the wind. It¡¯s an evasion technique. I will now demonstrate for you how to do it. The first step is to use gauge the opponent¡¡±
Letting Little grey''s words guide him, he lightly tapped his feet into the ground as the young teenager¡¯s next attack was about to hit...
"Swoosh!"
Instead of the sound everyone expected to hear, only the swooshing sound of the young teenager''s fist could be heard.
What just happened?
The crowd formed a big O with their mouths. Andariel had dodged easily. Was this sheer luck, or was it truly skill? To be able to dodge the punch of an second stager was after all no easy feat.
A second stager refers to a cultivator in the energy condensation realm. It has to be pointed out that second stagers had a lot stronger, faster and more durable bodies than first stagers. There was a fundamental gap between the two. Second stagers could infuse energy inside their attacks, making them very hard to deal with.
Yet this small boy had done it? They all felt it extremely hard to believe. But since it they saw it with their own eyes, how could they doubt it?
¡°You¡¡± the young teenager¡¯s forehead was about to burst from the blue veins. His whole face was red and anger was clearly seen. ¡°Fine, I will show you the difference between us. I hope you prepared your own funeral.¡±
Suddenly, Andariel felt a strong pressure emanate from the young teenager¡¯s body. It was slightly suffocating. Normal mortals would surely have a hard time breathing now, but not him. He had gone through a very tough training and his body was at the peak of what mortals could attain. This is why he could hold his ground.
Chapter 02 – Panda’s rage
I think this chapter turned out better than the last one. I tried to focus on showing, and not telling. I hope it felt smoother to read. Please comment your thoughts.
Well, Anyway, enjoy~!
The young teenager¡¯s demeanor suddenly changed and the pressure exerted on Andariel increased for each step he took toward him.
This was the biggest difference between first stagers and second stagers.
Energy!
¡°You made me use this power. For this, you only have yourself to blame!¡±
After saying this, the young teenager instantly pressed his feet into the ground, causing cracks in the arena, like a spiderweb quickly spreading in the ground. A faint shine surrounded his fists and he leapt like a leopard at Andariel, throwing a punch at him.
¡°So that was his aim all along.¡±
Seeing the young teenager trying to hit his Dan tian, he understood the reason. It was to cripple and ruin his cultivation forever. Since not even those of the second realm can finds miraculous medicine able to heal one¡¯s dantian, it would be the end for his cultivation and his road toward immortality if the attack succeeded.
However, this made him extremely furious. ¡°You dare?!¡±
¡°En.¡±
To survive this, he would have to go all out. There was no use in trying to keep his techniques hidden anymore. He had to reveal the other forms of [Panda from the east]. After the first technique, [Nimble as the wind], there were several others.
¡°Watch out.¡± andariel took an orthodox stance. His feet slid apart, his right hand in front of his body with index, middle finger and thumb pointed upward while his pinky and little finger down. His left arm was curved like a bow, the hand formed like a scorpion¡¯s tail. Standing like this, his right hand was directly in front of his opponent, pointing slightly down like a hunter.
¡°Panda¡¯s rage. First stance ¨C Incapacitate!¡±
Before the young teenager could punch him, Andariel used the back of his right hand to very smoothly take advantage of the momentum and push his opponent¡¯s punching arm to the side. Then his left hand, formed like the tail of a scorpion, very swiftly struck out like lightning.
¡°Pa!¡± Followed by, ¡°Arrgh~!¡±
On the ground, the young teenager held himself for face where blood oozed out. His nose was completely mutilated. The crowd was once more stunned. In their eyes, last time might have been luck. But now? Only idiots would believe in luck.
Andariel walked forward and released a kick, causing the young teenager to scream in pain once more.
¡°Do you know why I came here today? I only came to pass the test. No more, no less.¡± andariel spoke loudly enough for the surroundings to hear, ¡°But what you did today, it makes me sick. To kill an old man, then fatally injure his wife? You are wicked, you are evil, your whole existence is a crime of humanity.¡±
His words caused everyone to hold their breaths.
¡°Today, everyone have witnessed you rebuking me, insulting me and even threatening to kill me. You have tried cripple me. Now what shall I do to you? Last time we met, you took my friend¡¯s eye without remorse and beat me close to death.¡±
The young teenager didn¡¯t respond and could only meagerly force out a couple of words, ¡°I-If y-you dare to h-hurt me, I w-will tell my big brother!¡±
¡°You still have guts to say these things?¡±
¡°Do you know why I haven¡¯t crippled you already? It¡¯s because I want you to feel what they felt. I want you to understand the fear, the anxiety of knowing that your cultivation, your dreams for the future will end in an instant.
He turned around to the crowd, ¡°All of you. Many of your loved ones have been taken from his hand. Do you want revenge? Do you want to extract it with your own hands?¡±
¡°Yes.¡± the crowd split in two and the old lady whose man was killed by the young teenager emerged. With a bandage wound around her head, she was carried by two men. Her face was stricken with sorrow, ¡°Will you let me do it?
Andariel nodded.
¡°Thanks you, young man.¡± the old lady deeply bowed to him, then scurried forward to the young teenager. Her fists were clenched as she towered above him. She looked at him, hate filling her eyes, then spoke, ¡°Before you die, please answer me. Why did you kill him? Why did you kill my husband?¡±
The young teenager looked up, he still held his face. Unfortunately, he couldn¡¯t move. All of his energy was out and somehow, his legs were unstable so he couldn¡¯t stand up. He gazed at the woman with disdain, then laughed, ¡°Haha, you got to be kidding me. I killed him because it was fun. I really enjoyed it.¡±
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
¡°Then, die!¡± the old lady said, closed her eyes and took forth an old, rusty dagger and slashed down in a wide arc, trying to cut him in the throat.
¡°STOOOP!¡±
Just as she was about to slash the young teenager¡¯s throat, a shadow flashed, and a man appeared behind her.
¡°Nooo!¡± Andariel screamed. Instantly activating [Nimble as the wind], trying to intercept the man before he could proceed with his deed. But it was too late, the distance was to great to cross in the second it took for the man to punch out
¡°Pa!¡± The man punched, and the old lady¡¯s head burst like a watermelon. Her blood and brain matter landed on the ground, the knife a few meters away. Her limp body fell down on the ground.
¡°No! Granny Ling!¡± A little girl of about five years hurriedly went up to the arena and ran forward to the old lady.
¡°Are you okay, little brother?¡±
A man wearing a white robe with golden markings stretched out his hand for his little brother to grab. Short black hair and brown eyes. He was huge, almost two meter tall. While Andariel had lean and defined muscles, this man had bulky, big muscles that oozed of masculinity. His forearms were thick like tree trunks.
¡°Yes, older brother.¡± the younger teenager took his big brother¡¯s handed and pointed at Andariel who stood a few meters away, ¡°Big brother, he is the one who tried to cripple me.¡± he then whispered something in his older brother¡¯s ear.
¡°You sure?¡± the older brother¡¯s expression changed.
The younger teenager nodded, ¡°Yes.¡±
¡°Fine.¡± the older brother sighed, ¡°But don¡¯t cause these kind of situations more. I can¡¯t always be here to save you. The next time might very well be your last.¡±
¡°I understand, big brother.¡±
The young teenager¡¯s big brother turned to Andariel. His face was indifferent as he spoke, ¡°Andariel, right? I am Sengou, this idiot¡¯s brother. I am sorry for the trouble caused by him. Unfortunately, I must cripple you, it is my duty as older brother.
¡°So the apple doesn''t fall far from the tree, huh?¡± giving of a cold snort, Andariel once again took the first stance of Panda¡¯s rage ¨C incapacitation, ¡°I guess words are useless at this point.¡±
Sengou shrugged his shoulders, ¡°Unfortunately so.¡±
Andariel laughed, ¡°No need to bother. What has happened has happened. You must surely understand why I did what I did, do you not?¡±
Ignoring Andariel, Sengou started to walk toward him, a faint smile spreading to his lips, "Let us begin.¡±
¡°Arrgh?!¡±
Suddenly, Andariel felt like his body weighing thousand times its normal weight. It was as if he was carrying an enormous mountain on his shoulder. This was the pressure of a third stager? Andariel felt his feet making marks in the ground.
¡°You are nothing but a first stager, yet able to not fall down on your knees facing me pressure exertion? Impressive, impressive indeed. I now understand why little my brother lost to you. It seems you are a rare talent.
The pressure increased even more. Slowly, Andariel felt his knees giving up. He could barely keep himself standing. The force was pressing him down.
¡°But in the end, dead talents are useless..¡±
¡°F*ck!¡±
Andariel fell down with a crash, his knees hitting the hard concrete floor. He tried to hold his back up by pressing down with his hands, but was barely able to so under the fierce pressure forcing him down.
¡°So you finally revealed the real person behind the mask. You are but a wolf in sheep¡¯s clothing.¡± a apologetic smile appeared on Andariel''s face, ¡°What will you do now, cripple me? Kill me?¡±
¡°Haha!¡±
Sengou''s smile turned even wider. For outsiders who didn¡¯t know of the situation, the man looked like a good, humble man. But for everyone who knew of the situation and saw the past events, they knew that he was anything but good and humble.
¡°I will kill you. Got any last words to say?¡± appearing in front of Andariel, Sengou kicked out lightly. It caused Andariel to flap over onto his stomach, gasping for breaths, trying to not spurt blood.
But he could no longer help it, his whole body convulsed and he spurt out a load of blood hitting Sengou right in the face, ¡°My bad, hehe~¡±
Chapter 03 – old man Meng
¡°You f*cking outsider!
Sengou¡¯s face twisted itself from anger, furiously kicking Andariel in the stomach causing him to fly away like a cannon ball, hitting the walls of the settlement outside the arena. Now, the wall was decorated with a distinct human indent. And as he fell down and hit the ground, cracks began to spread, and a part of the wall collapsed into thousand of stone fragments, some even turning into fine dust.
¡°My rib¡¡± Andariel silently groaned under his breath. Some of his ribs were broken and he most likely had several internal injuries. He tried to stand up, only to discover that he had no force left. Was this his end?¡±
Hearing footsteps, he understood that Sengou was near, and that he had to do something. Quickly at that. But no matter how hard he thought, nothing came to his mind. He had no idea how to save himself. Was there nothing he could do?
He felt hands gripping his clothes, and the world around him spun, and he was tossed up in the air like a bag flour.
¡°Bam!¡±
Hitting the hard concrete floor made him spurt out even more blood. His vision was beginning to fade. He heard the same footsteps again.
F*ck! No, I cannot give up!
¡°I won¡¯t giv¡¡± His voice toned down, and his head crashed into the the ground. He had lost consciousness, everything had become black and quiet.
Sengou laughed and went forward to the now unconscious Andariel.
¡°Well, It was fun while it lasted~!¡± Musing to himself, he punched down with thick thick, trunk like arm toward Andariel¡¯s head, clearly aiming for the kill.
¡°If you do that, I will kill you.¡±
Sengou felt himself stop. He couldn¡¯t even move his body in the slightest. In front of him, an older man covered in a purple robe with golden engravings of dragons appeared like a ghost.
¡°Esteemed elder¡!¡± a chill went through his spine, this was an elder, and elder of the highest degree. There were four kinds of elders; outer elder, inner elder, core elder and top elder, that corresponded to the disciples. This was a top elder, usually only seen inside the settlement¡¯s palace where he taught the top disciples.
¡°Get lost.¡± The elder flashed his sleeve, and an invisible wind pulled Sengou along and threw him high up in the air, letting him fall down a bit away from the arena.
The elder looked at the young boy, grabbed him under one of his arms and turned around to the crowd still standing there with dumbfounded expression adorned to their faces
¡°I will let this matter pass. You should bury the dead before they begin to stink.
He transformed into a multicolored rainbow, disappearing in the horizon.
Close to the Blackrock mountains, to the west of the Sen clan''s settlement, there was a small cabin. Inside the cabin there were four rooms and in one of the rooms, a young boy was lying on a bed. His black hair was colored crimson from dried blood and he had a bandage covering his chest.
After a while, the boy¡¯s eyelids twitched and he slowly opened them only to become slightly confused. This was not the arena. Andariel tried to get up from bed but to his demise, wasn¡¯t able to move more than his fingers. ¡°Where am I¡? Where is little grey?¡±
It wasn¡¯t until a few hours later that he could rise from the bed. Using nearby things to hold himself steady, he tried to make his way in the cabin. Exiting the room with the bed, he came out to a large living room where he felt the smell of food. His mouth began to produce saliva.
¡°Oh, you woke up quite quickly.¡±
Andariel hopped from the ground and immediately entered a fighting position. Not only did it made him groan in pain, but also earn a light laughter from the older man coming into view.
¡°Who are you?¡± he asked the older man.
The older man laughed, ¡°Depends on who is asking.¡±
Andariel.¡± Andariel introduced himself, ¡°Who might senior be?¡±
¡°Don¡¯t worry, you will find out sooner or later.¡± the old man revealed a smile and gestured for Andariel to take some food, ¡°I made some congee for us. The perfect food before a discussion. Serve yourself.¡±
Andariel heard his stomach making low growling sounds. ¡°Thank you.¡±
Hurriedly taking a bowl from the shelves, he poured up from congee for himself and sat down to the table followed by the old man. For minutes, they ate in silence, just enjoying the peaceful bliss granted by food.

¡°So boy, what were you doing fighting a third stage gatherer? That just looks like suicide for me.¡± the older man put down his spoon and leaned back on his chair.
Andariel shrugged his shoulder, ¡°I wanted to go pass the exam. But the outer disciple was extremely vile and cruel to those wanting to try their luck. I became angry and lost self control.¡±
The older man nodded, ¡°And after?¡±
¡°I decided to cripple him. People doing these cruel acts like murdering for fun aren¡¯t right in their head. If I crippled him I would have done the island a favor. But instead his damn brother showed up¡¡±
¡°And he was too strong for you?¡± the older man asked.
Andariel sighed, ¡°Yeah. He was at the third stage. I knew that words weren¡¯t going to help me, so I decided to at least give out a fight. But in the end, I got my ass kicked. Well. Even if I could repeat it, I would do the same.¡±
¡°Honestly, that was very stupid done.¡± the older man said, ¡°but at the same time, like it. I would have done the same. To stand up for one¡¯s principles it the most courageous one can do. Its one of the qualities that can take you far on the road of cultivation.
Andariel blinked, surprised by what the old man said, ¡°Thank you.¡±
¡°Boy.¡± the old man smiled, ¡°Why do you cultivate? What is your goal, what do you strive after? Glory? Riches, or maybe beauties?¡±
Andariel pondered for a while, then answered, ¡°I don¡¯t know actually. I was going to tell you to become the strongest, but I don¡¯t really know. I feel like it¡¯s the only think that I can do, as if to not cultivate it to die. Do you understand me?¡±
¡°Hmm.¡± the older man frowned, ¡°Let me rephrase my question, why do you want to become strong?¡±
This time it took longer for Andariel to answer.
¡°It feels as if though I have something that I must do. I don¡¯t know what, I just know that there is something out there waiting for me and that I have to become strong before I can go out can get it. Therefore, I shall become strong.¡±
The old man burst out in laughter, ¡°Good, good, I like it. I have heard many answers, but no one have ever answered my so vaguely. But at the same time, yours is the one I like best.
¡°I am old man Meng.¡± he introduced himself.
Just as Andariel was about to go grab some more congee to eat he was interrupted as old man Meng called out his name.
¡°Let me ask you something?¡±, old man Meng suddenly asked, his eyes very serious as he posed the question, ¡°Do you want to become my disciple?¡±
¡°Huh?¡± Andariel was stunned. This old man wanted to take him in as a disciple? They had just met, didn¡¯t it seem a bit strange¡°Why?¡±
¡°I have roamed this world for a very long time. I have been to the main continent and I have seen countless of renius rise and fall. But you are different than them. You don¡¯t have enormous sects standing behind you. Yet, you are able to defeat a second stager who used his pressure exertion with only your body and skill.¡±
¡°Come, let me show you something.¡± old man said and rose form the table. Andariel, still a bit stunned, followed the man out of the cottage.
¡°Look.¡± old man meng pointed at a big, thick oak. Then flicked his fingers, ¡°boom!¡±
Andariel gaped. The tree with more than a three meter thick tree trunk exploded in millions of pieces. There was absolutely nothing left of the tree after the explosion occurring.
¡°Do you want to become strong?¡± old man Meng turned around to him, ¡°If you become my disciple, I will teach you how to get revenge on that third stager and much more. I will allow you to become stronger than what you could ever imagine. Of course, it depends on yourself as well.¡±
¡°Yes.¡± Andariel instantly decided to recognize this old man as master. This was a chance in a million. Not only was the man strong, but he also had a very nice personality. He kowtowed three times, ¡°Your disciple greets you, master.¡±
¡°Haha, very good.¡± old man Meng laughed, ¡°Now, let¡¯s go inside, there is still some more congee to eat up. When we''re at it, I shall explain the basic of cultivation for you since I bet you don¡¯t know everything that is needed.
Chapter 04 – The absolute limit
Hey guys! Expect another chapter tonight. There has been a few changes in the cultivation of the story, but it will all be explained in the chapter. Enjoy!
Old man Meng and Andariel once again sat inside the cottage by the table.
¡°Andariel.¡± old man Meng said to him, ¡°In this world, there are nine realms of cultivation. Each of them symbolize one cycle of rebirth and one circle of hell. To become immortal, one has to cultivate through all these stages and then complete the five tribulations at the five great mountains. Of course, this is nothing you have to worry about yet. I will explain the first three realm for you.¡±
¡°Gather, the first realm, 100 years lifespan. Collect energy in one¡¯s dantian.
¡°Transform, the second realm, 200 years lifespan. Transform one¡¯s energy to liquid form.
¡°Merge, the third realm, 500 years life span. Merge the liquid energy with one¡¯s soul.
Andariel felt a surge of happiness as old Meng explained cultivation to him. This was the first time someone actually cared about him except for Little grey. He had no parents and grew up just outside the settlement with only little grey, the black and white panda. Upon the though, he wondered how Little grey was doing? Was he still taking a nap in their hut?¡±
¡°The first realm is the realm. Do you know what it is?¡±
¡°Yes.¡± Andariel nodded, ¡°It is divided into nine stages. It is the starting point of everyone, except for some energy beasts with extremely dense bloodlines.¡±
Old man Meng put a book on the table, ¡°Exactly. To put it bluntly, it is the realm where one lays the foundation for the other realms. With insufficient foundation, one¡¯s building will collapse later on. This is why it¡¯s so important to do it correctly.¡±
¡°This is a book that explains how to properly create the foundation within the dantian.¡± old man Meng handed him a tattered old book bound in leather.
¡°However, there is something much more important for you to learn right now¡± old man Meng laughed, ¡°You need to properly understand the power difference between the stages. Because honestly, you will get yourself killed one day if you offend someone without knowing the difference between the two of you.¡±
Old man Meng stared at Andariel after speaking, clearly waiting for an answer.
¡°Yeah.¡± Andariel coughed dryly, ¡°That might be the case.¡±
¡°Then I will tell you and let you understand.¡± old man Meng¡¯s voice was like ice as he began to explain the differences between the different stages.
¡°First stage and second stage, energy usage and power exertion. After inhaling enough energy, one will break through to the second stage and gain the ability to slightly infuse it in one¡¯s attacks. Power exertion is the ability to create one¡¯s own domain based upon the quality of one¡¯s energy. There are five different types; Fire, wood, earth, water and metal domains.¡±
¡°Sengou, the third stager, What type is his domain?¡± Andariel quickly asked.¡±
¡°He had a earth type domain, they are pretty rare. The younger teenager had one too. Most likely they come from a strong clan or family that has passed down an earth mantra. His domain released a pressure akin to having a mountain on your shoulders.
Andariel nodded, letting old man Meng continue.
¡°Every third stage, there is a major power up. First stage to third stage is the ability to create domains and infuse energy, while fourth to sixth stage allows one to infuse energy into other objects like swords and maces.¡±
¡°Seventh to ninth stage, one can use martial techniques. It allows the cultivator to perform techniques that requires energy. They are much stronger than normal skills used without.
Old man Meng explained while finishing his congee.
¡°How does one break through from the ninth stage to the second realm¡¯s first stage?¡± Andariel asked old man Meng.
Old man Meng sighed, ¡°That Andariel, is the true danger of cultivating.¡±
¡°What do you mean?¡± Andariel frowned.
¡°When one enters the ninth stage, one will be forced to try and enter the second realm. No matter what one does, one will be pushed to do it. If one doesn¡¯t even try, one¡¯s dan tian will explode and death will come. To enter the second realm, one has to fill the dan tian to the limit. If one succeeds in entering the second realm depends on if the dan tian can endure the pressure.¡±
Andariel became dead silent. He asked, ¡°So luck decides if one succeedes or not?¡±
¡°No.¡± old man Meng shook his head, ¡°It¡¯s the body. It is as such that depending on how much you trained the body while you were in the first stage, the more chance you have to succeed. That¡¯s why the first stage is one of the most important phases in one¡¯s life.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.¡°Then before entering the second stage of gather realm, one should train his or her body to the absolute limit?¡±
¡°Exactly.¡± old man Meng nodded and then smiled, asking Andariel, ¡°Do you think you have trained your body to the limit?
¡°Yes.¡± Andariel answered.
¡°No.¡± old man Meng laughed, ¡°You definitely have not. You think it would be that easy to do that? Only a few years of hard training inside normal environments?¡±
¡°Let me ask you something.¡± eyes glimmering, old man Meng stared at Andariel, ¡°If I tell you that I can train your body to the limit. I can let it reach the absolute limit of what mortals can reach. Would you want that?¡±
¡°What would I have to do?¡± Andariel replied.
Old man Meng grinned,¡°You merely have to endure some pain, that is all.¡±
How could Andariel be easily scared by this? For years, he had been enduring being beaten up once or twice a week til he could barely walk. He would often be called trash, thrown stones on and even spit upon.
¡°Pain?¡± Andariel stared at old man Meng with determination, ¡°I have endured pain my whole life. Pain is the least I fear. Pain is temporary. To stay weak is what truly hurts. Yes, if I can become strong by enduring some pain, I would do it every day, every week and every year until I become stronger than anyone!¡±
¡°Good, I like that motivation. But what you are going to feel is going to need more than just motivation. To endure this, you will need will power that surpasses the heavens. ¡° old man Meng said and stood up.
¡°Andariel, I will ask you one last time. Are you sure you want to to this?¡± old man Meng¡¯s expression was extremely serious as he asked him.
¡°I do.¡±
¡°Very well.¡± old man Meng nodded, ¡°Your training will begin tomorrow and will continue for two months. Do you have anything you want to do before we begin?¡±
¡°Yes.¡± Andariel said, ¡°My friend, Little grey. . Can you go there and get him? He is my partner.¡±
¡°I can.¡± old man Meng answered, then said, ¡°A partner is good. But ff I go get him
you have to promise to never let him down or betray him.¡±
¡°I promise.¡±
Inside the hut at the settlement, Little grey lay snoring loudly in Andariel¡¯s bed. He dreamed of caskets full of bamboo stems being served to him by beautiful panda girls wearing exquisite dresses, ¡°Aaahh, life is so sweet.¡±
¡°Hmm?¡± He instantly opened his eyes. Someone was outside the hut.
An older man with a purple robe emblazoned with golden dragons entered the hut, his eyes quickly scanning the room before seeing Little grey. He rushed forward and was going to grab the small panda with his hand, but his face turned into a frown when he discovered that he was grabbing empty air.
Some meters away, the little panda was leaning against the wall. He had already closed the door. A fierce pressure began to emanate form the panda, ¡°Who are you, and what business do you have with Andariel?¡±
¡°You can speak?!¡± old man Meng¡¯s eyes widened. He swallowed and explained, ¡°I am Andariel¡¯s master, he asked me to come get you. But never did I think that his partner would be a energy beast that could speak.¡±
Old man Meng stared at Little grey, ¡°Being this powerful, allowing me to not even being able to see you move¡ you must be at least be in the realm of¨C¡±
¡°Stop.¡± Little grey interrupted old man Meng, ¡°Don¡¯t ever tell Andariel, he cannot know. if you do, I will kill you.¡±
¡°Tell me, why did you take on Andariel as your disciple.¡±
Old man Meng felt a chill creep through his spine, and he began to sweat quicker than usual,¡°He is a true genius. His comprehension, his skill, his determination, there is nothing he lacks to become a peerless monster. I want to leave my legacy. And the moment I saw him, I knew that he was the right one. Also, I am friends with Jargon, so I know of his circumstances.
"Jargon is dead for us..." killing intent filled his eyes as he spoke. Then he asked, "What makes you think that you deserve to be his master? Are you worthy?¡±
Old man Meng sighed, ¡°...I know I don''t deserve to become the master of a talent like him. But if you give me the chance, I will give him everything I have.¡±
Old man Meng held his breath. If he said the wrong thing, he knew that the panda would immediately kill him. This panda was more than ten times powerful than him and could kill him faster than batting an eye.
¡°Fine.¡± Little grey nodded, but his eyes still contained boundless of killing intent that could erupt at any moment.
¡°But know this, if you reveal my strenght to him, I will kill you. if you hurt him, I will kill you. If you make him cry, I will kill you. If you as much think about doing something that doesn¡¯t benefit him, I will kill you.
Chapter 05 – Hot springs
Hi guys! I will take a break tomorrow to carefully plan out the next coming chapters.
Until next time, enjoy!
Andariel was seated on top of his bed in old man Meng¡¯s cabin. Old man Meng himself had gone to pick up Little grey, leaving Andariel alone in the house.
[How to build a good foundation by Chen Ming]
In front of him, the old and tattered book given to him by old man Meng laid.
Andariel flipped the first page open.
¡°My name is Cheng Ming, and I am a merge realm cultivator of the third stage. I write this to my sect, Heavenly Golden Cicada Sect, but also to other juniors who can find use in what I have to tell. I hope you this can help you as you tread the path of cultivation.
¡°This book details the conclusions of my experiences and knowledge regarding the first realm, gather. In this book you will find instructions on how to gather energy correctly as well as how to break through from the first to the second realm. It doesn¡¯t matter which mantra you cultivate, this book only instructs general principles that doesn¡¯t rely on the mantra. The first section will be quite brief, while the latter sections will be more advanced.
Reading the first two paragraphs, Andariel immediately got interested and flipped to the next page.
¡°You might ask yourself, why do we need to gather energy?
In this universe, there are two major forces who constantly battle for supremacy, King Yama and Emperor Pan. We humans are forces of King Yama, and therefore fight against the heavens, where Pan rules with his angels.
¡°King Yama gives us the chance to break free from our mortal counterparts by using mantras he passed down to us. But in return, he can¡¯t help us, as that goes against his agreement with Emperor Pan. So we have to rely on ourselves.
King Yama? Emperor Pan? Are they not the descendants of the creator, Pan Gu?¡±
Andariel flipped a few pages until he came to the summary for how to advance to the second realm.
¡°When one reaches the ninth realm, one will be given a choice. Either he or she can go back to the eight realm, or fill his or her dan tian to the limit of what it can contain. As it is at the brim of collapsing, the barren lands will either use the energy inside to evolve into lands full of life.¡±
¡°If the barren lands are not compatible with the energy, if they feel like the body¡¯s constitution is not enough for them to evolve, they will not do so. And if they decide to not, the dan tian will blow up like a balloon, killing the cultivator. Of course, there might be other mishaps even if one has a god given constitution.¡±
Cultivation is a fight against the heavens, either succeed and survive, or die trying too. Do you want to live happily and blissfully? Then don''t enter the ninth stage. Because if you do, you better not hesitate.
Andariel closed the book, taking deep breaths. He had to contemplate on this for a while, it was too much information to take in at once. But he knew one thing for sure, it was definitely something he would do, to break through the second realm that is.
¡°Knock, knock!¡±
Hearing knocks on the door, Andariel realized that old man Meng had come back with little grey.
¡°Come in!¡±
Andariel turned his gaze to the door.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
¡°Little grey!¡± Andariel yelled happily.
"Andariel"
From the door, a small, seemingly clumsy panda walked in. He chewed on a piece of bamboo, showing of a sad expression as he said, ¡°I¡¯ve been worried about you and I really regret not watching the arena fight, maybe that would have given me some piece of mind. I could barely get some sleep tonight.¡±
Old man Meng sitting in the room next to almost dropped the map he was looking at, silently cursing the small panda under his breath, ¡°Worried? As if! You lay peacefully sleeping in the bed with a lewd expression on your face when I got there!¡±
¡°I know.¡± Andariel nodded to little grey, ¡°But it doesn¡¯t matter, nothing bad happened."
A joyous smile was adorned to Andariel¡¯s face, ¡°You met master?
¡°I have never seen someone so strong before, you are really lucky for him to take you in as a disciple!¡± Little grey replied and his eyes shone with awe,
This time, old man Meng almost fell backward from what he heard. This little panda hadn¡¯t seen anyone stronger than him? Shoot, this little beast was so shameless.
¡°I know, He can probably make me really strong.¡±
¡°Oh yes, I bet he can.¡± Little grey rolled his eyes secretly, ¡°Anyway, I shall find myself some bamboo in the forest. See you later.¡±
As Little grey left, Andariel once again began read the book with interest.
And as such, three days passed in the blink of an eye.
In the south of the island, on a small mountain path leading up to a chain of scorchingly hot volcanoes sometimes spewing up searing magma, one could see three figures; Two walking and one being carried. It was old man Meng, Andariel and little grey.
¡°I can¡¯t, this is too much¡¡± Little grey¡¯s tongue hung out like a dog¡¯s. He cursed loudly, ¡°Why did we have to go to volcanoes? Can¡¯t Andariel just train underwater instead? Let us just go find a cool, relaxing lake to train inside. Ahh~!¡±
¡°Dammit, little grey.¡± Andariel who carried the little panda said, slightly irritated, ¡°How come you can¡¯t even handle a bit of heat? You are a panda! Pandas should be used to warm climates!¡±
¡°We are here.¡± old man Meng¡¯s voice interrupted them, ¡°Look ahead.¡±
Looking forward, Andariel exclaimed. In front of him, there were countless of small, miniature pools of water. It was very beautiful.
¡°Water!¡± Little grey, seeing the pools, immediately returned from his deathlike state and scurried over, jumping inside one of the pools.
¡°Aargh!~¡± But as quickly as he hopped in, he jumped out again, rolling himself on the grass a it further away, ¡°Hot, hot hot, hot!¡±
Andariel and old man Meng broke out in laughter upon seeing the scene.
¡°Andariel.¡± old man Meng addressed his disciple and pointed at the pools filled with hot, steaming water, ¡°This will be your training for one month. These pools are called hot springs.¡±
¡°Huh?¡± Andariel looked at the hot springs, his master, the hot springs and then his master again, clearly confused.
¡°Haha, don''t worry.¡± His master laughed, grinning as he said, ¡°That¡¯s just for you to recover in."
From his backpack, old man Meng took forward a thin, wooden stick, ¡°I will make your body tougher than iron by hitting you till you can¡¯t even feel it anymore. Then you will soak in the hot springs as to rejuvenate your body. We will continue this until my blows doesn''t hurt you anymore.
¡°Master.¡± Andariel inspected the stick, ¡°Hehe, you know that is a normal stick, right? If you hit me with that, it will easily get broken in two.¡±
"Oh." a smile appeared on old man Meng¡¯s lips, "Is that what you think?
Chapter 06 – Mortal skin
Whip sounds followed by groans rang out inside the distant valley. In a small grove, covered with thick vegetation, Andariel stood motionless with bare torso. Red marks could be seen all over his body. And front of him, old man Meng stood, his sleeves continuously disappearing and appearing. Each time this happened, a ¡°pa¡±, sound, followed by, ¡°argh!¡± echoed inside the small forest grove.
Andariel stood in a horse stance on a big rock. It was a wide stance with a good point of gravity, about how one rode a horse. Not only did it help him take the hits from his master, but it was also a sort of endurance training that strengthened his whole body.
¡°Very good, very good!¡± old man Meng mused to himself, lowered the stick, then saying to his disciple while stroking his beard, ¡°We are finished for today, go soak yourself in the hot springs and practice the fire furnace sutra until the sun goes down. We will continue with this once dawn comes.¡±
¡°Yes, master.¡± hopping down from the big stone, Andariel hurried over to the hot springs some hundred meters away, releasing a long, ¡°ahhh~¡± as the hot water touched his body and warmth spread across his sore muscles.
Body until it was completely red. Somehow, the whipping only hurt for a while, but then very Today was the sixth day of ¡°Hell¡¯s training¡±, as his master called it. From early morning to lunch time, when the sun was in the middle of the sky, old man Meng would whip the entirety of Andariel¡¯s quickly disappeared.
After getting hit with the stick that seemed to snap from the slightest touch but did not, Andariel would immediately go soak himself in the hot springs and inhale natural world energy according to the mantra that his master gave him.
However, Andariel was not allowed to store it within his dan tian, and was only told purify it and then let it out again. According to old man Meng, just purifying the energy within his meridians would help his body heal faster, and his meridians tougher and thicker.
In total, the human body has seventy two meridians. His master had told him that they were created to honor the seventy two descendants of Pan Gu who died in the great battle of primordial times when Yama and his forces fought with Pan and his.
These meridians have openings called pores. Each of these pores has the ability to slowly intake natural world energy and lead it inside one¡¯s meridians, purify it, and then store it automatically within the dan tian.
Andariel positioned himself in the lotus position of meditation and began to dwell deep within himself. To inhale energy from the world, one first has to be able to sense it. After that, one would inhale it with the help of mantras.
His mantra given to him by his master for the sole purpose of refining his body was called ¡°Fire furnace sutra¡±. It was of the fire element, which had the best effect on the body. He would only practice this mantra through the first stage, then his master would give him another one.
There.
Sensing the energy, Andariel first calmed himself by taking deep breaths.
¡°oooohhh.¡± He began to inhale the energy, purifying it, and letting it strengthen his meridians. This process took about ten seconds.
¡°hoooo¡±, he let it out and started all over again. After six days of doing this, he had felt immense progress. His meridians had become tougher and thicker, and the process of letting the energy flow smoother and easier.
And like this, a month passed in the blink of of an eye.
¡°Hooo, can¡¯t you feel it anymore?¡±

¡°I can, but it doesn¡¯t hurt.¡±
Andariel was now ten years old. From the two month that had passed, his body underwent a shocking change. He still had the same thick yet slender cords of muscles, but they were now filled with vigorous, explosive power. He had become taller, now almost one meter and sixty centimeters tall. For a ten year old, that was very tall. But even though his body may have changed, he still had those piercing blue eyes and black hair. He would surely become quite handsome when he grew older.
His body was now trained to the limit. Over the month, Andariel had discovered that what old man Meng did wasn¡¯t simply hitting him with the stick. His master had infused energy into the stick, transmitting it into Andariel¡¯s body. This had tempered and refined his skin, bones, tendons and even muscles. Andariel had himself refined the inner parts of his body by cultivating with the mantra.
¡°I think it¡¯s time for us to move on to the next stage.¡±
¡°You mean¡?¡±
¡°Yes.¡± old man Meng replied, and a smile spread upon of his lips, ¡°It¡¯s time for you to take the first step. It¡¯s time for you to break through to the first stage.¡±
¡°Go to the hot springs, get your body to the prime condition. I presume you only need a few hours to gather enough energy, right?¡±
Andariel nodded.
¡°Good.¡±
Seeing his master¡¯s smile, Andariel immediately got on his way to the hot springs. Once inside, he began to inhale the natural world energy with his mantra. This time, he didn¡¯t let it out again, and instead let it flow in like mist into his dan tian.
¡°hooo.¡± Breathing out, a large cloud of black gas came out. It was the impurities from the energy that he purified. The black cloud of impurities would quickly return to normal energy when mixed with the outside.
Peeking inside his dantian, he could now see a few slightly red winds blowing. It was a sign that he had begun to gather energy.
¡°That should be about it.¡±
Feeling that the energy inside was enough, Andariel wiped the sweat from his brows and jumped out of the pool. It was no use to dry himself as they were close to a chain of volcanoes. The air was very hot and he would get dry in less than fifteen minutes. He quickly got dressed and returned to the grove where his master was waiting.
¡°Sit.¡± old man Meng pointed at the same stone where he had been lashed on.
Andariel did as his master told him to.
¡°To break through from the first stage to the second stage, one has to shed his mortal skin. Do you know what that means?¡±
¡°Yes master.¡± Andariel began to explain, ¡°From the book you gave me, I read that one has to connect his or her meridians to the dan tian, thereon achieving a perfect state where one can infuse one¡¯s body parts with the energy inside one¡¯s dan tian.¡±
¡°Exactly.¡± old ma meng sat down behind his disciple, and put his hand at his back.
¡°Listen.¡± He said, ¡°There are seventy two meridians in the body. how many one can open depends on one¡¯s persistence, comprehension and some bit of luck. As you try to open one after another, I will stay here and control so that nothing goes wrong. A severe backlash can hurt pretty bad and completely ruin one¡¯s future prospects.¡±
¡°Remember. If it feels like your meridians is about to snap, stop instantly. Otherwise, not even I can save you.¡±
¡°Your disciple understands.¡± Andariel responded, closing his eyes to begin the process.
Chapter 07 – Breaking through
Yo guys, quick announcement. I won''t be able to provide chapters as quickly until summer, got the last schoolwork to do. I don''t know if there will be more this week. I am very sorry, but will try to make it up to you in the summer.
As andariel entered his dan tian with his consciousness, he discovered that the temperature inside had risen several degrees. It was now like summer in here, differing greatly from the earlier colder climate. Obviously, the reason for the change was due to his mantra, [fire furnace sutra].
Trying to control the red, hot winds, Andariel willed them to move. And to his surprise, he could easily bend them accordingly. He sat down on the ground that was still barren, and tried to sense his meridians. After a while, an image of his whole body showed up in his mind. It was like a picture. Through his whole body, lines and dots were connected to a bigger circle in the middle. The lines were obviously meridians, the dots were pores, while the bigger circle was his dan tian.
Andariel thought back to the book given to him by old man Meng, [How to build a good foundation by Chen Ming], and tried to remember what was written in the section about breaking through from the first to the second stage.
According to the book, most practitioners of cultivation started by breaking through the meridians leading out to the limbs, as this would ensure their martial prowess. But Chen Ming stated more than several times that doing this was the same thing as dooming one¡¯s future. It is not the correct road to walk.
The true path is to first pave path for the five vital organs; Heart, Kidney, Spleen, Liver and Lung. All of these organs corresponds to one element. Heart to Fire, Kidney to Water, Spleen to Earth, Liver to Wood, and Lung to Metal.
The first one should do is to open the meridian that corresponds to the element which one desires to practice. In Andariel¡¯s case that¡¯d be the heart, and therefore his choice was obvious.
There were seventy two doors in his dan tian, each of them was the path to a meridian. In the middle of his dan tian, there was a red, burning door. This was the meridian to his heart. To open it, he would have to bombard it with the energy he had gathered. In this case, the winds that swirled around in the barren lands.
Taking a deep breath, then exhaling, his eyes were surging with determination as he ordered the winds to move toward the door.
¡°sha sha sha sha¡±
As the winds hit the door, sounds akin to punches hitting air resounded in his dan tian. But slowly and surely, the door began to make way. It started to open bit by bit. Feeling that it would soon open, Andariel used all of his force of mind to cause the winds hitting with more force.
¡°Gong!¡±
The sound of a gong echoed in the barren lands, and the door slammed open with a, ¡°boom!¡± Andariel smiled triumphantly, he had now succeeded in opening one of the seventy two meridians. And not only that, this was the meridian to his heart, the most important one.
The body is like a country. Heart is king, and lung, liver, spleen and kidney is the king¡¯s advisors, while the energy is the citizens. When opening these five meridians, it improves the effect they cause to the country, and the heart is no exception.
If the king does not abuse its superior position, if it remains centered and focused on the essential matters, the energy will flourish and the mind will be steady. If it remains true to its beliefs, the seven harmful emotions that resides within the king; Joy, Anger, Anxiety, Pensiveness, Grief, Fear, and Fright will always be fought off, the dan tian will be full with treasures, and every part of the body will be light and at peace.

(A/N: Joy refers to overexcitement or a state of agitation. "When one is excessively joyful, the spirit scatters and can no longer be stored," states the Lingshu (The Vital Axis). As such, the seven harmful emotions aren¡¯t bad in itself, it just that too much just becomes too much, and therefore providing negative effects. It all has to go in a balance.
Opening the meridian that leads to the heart gives an overall boost for the cultivator. From gathering energy to strengthening the body, or even having a normal conversation with friends ¨C The stronger heart, the better body and mind. The better king, the better he can rule his country and how it affects other countries, meaning other men and women.
This is the major reason for old man Meng giving Andariel the [fire furnace sutra]. Not only is it better for refining the body, but it also makes it easier for one to open the meridian leading to one¡¯s heart. Fight fire with fire, only then shall one prevail.
Having finished clearing his first meridian, Andariel set sight for the other four meridians that lead to one¡¯s four vital organs.
After evaluating his choices, two meridians stood out ¨C The lung, or the liver.
The lung improves one¡¯s ability to inhale, purify and store energy. It regulates one¡¯s breath. The better lung, the longer breath. Breath is vitality. And therefore, having a better lung increases one¡¯s lifespan. But for one¡¯s lung to show splendor, one has to keep the seven harmful emotions at bay, otherwise the energy flow in the meridians will worsen, backlashes may occur, and lifespan will decrease.
A good liver is a sign for good communication between body and energy. One could say it¡¯s the minister of laws. As long as the energy, the country¡¯s citizens, adheres to these laws, a good communication between body and energy will arise, and the energy will continue to forever flow freely. By opening this meridian, he would get more out of each drop of energy, his body would use less for each action, and the quality would change for the better. A bad liver will result in a bad comunication, and that in turn give less for each drop of energy, and the quality will worsen.
He decided to go for the liver first. It would increase his chances of breaking through to the other seventy meridians, since if the quality of his energy was better, it would allow him to spend less of it for each opening of meridian. Therefore, this was the best choice for him at the moment.
Locating the liver, he could see a brown door made of wood. This was the organ connected to the element of wood. Since wood was countered by fire, it shouldn''t be too hard for him to open it. Maybe just a bit harder than the first one.
¡°Sha sha sha sha¡±
After willing them forward, the red, hot winds hit the door, and very soon crackling sounds were heard through the atmosphere. Minutes later, the flames were setting the brown door ablaze, and would most likely burn it to smithereens!
Andariel retracted the winds, letting the flames do the work.
¡°Gong!¡±
Even though the flames turned the door to dust, the whole process was more jarring for Andariel than the first door, as the amount of energy spent was even more. However, Andariel soon felt that the hot, red winds that he could control became hotter and more powerful. The quality of his energy had increased!

¡°So this is my limit, huh?¡±
After attaining 32 meridians, Andariel discovered that he couldn¡¯t go on, that this was as far as he could go. And since he had no chance to open another door, he therefore had no choice but to go back. Two hours had gone past since Andariel broke through the meridian leading to his heart. Now, he had opened the 5 meridians that were connected to his most vital internal organs, as well as all of those leading to his limbs and 23 normal meridians.
Together, the five vital and the four limb meridians are 9 meridians, signifying the nine cycles of rebirth and nine circles of death. The other 23 were only able to increase his training efficiency while not meditating, or able to supplement energy recovery in battle. They were smaller and thinner than these 9 he had opened.
The five vital + four limbs = The nine meridians of highest importance
Sighing for his inability to open more of them, Andariel exited his DanTian. His master sat behind him, face flushed red, the old wrinkled face sweaty.
¡°Hehe, good job. Congratulations for becoming a second stager!¡± old man Meng¡¯s face broke out in a smile.
¡°Thank you, master.¡± Andariel cupped his hands, ¡°Never would I have done it without you.¡±
¡°Haha, stop with the formalities. You could have done it easily even without me.¡± old man Meng laughed, ¡°But never did I think that you would open 32 of them in your first try, you never fail to surprise.¡±
¡°First try?¡±
¡°Yes.¡± old man Meng answered, ¡°One has three times to try. Each stage of the gather realm is divided into three tiers; bottom, middle, top. When trying to break through to the second from first stage, one uses up his or her first chance. And if one succeeds with opening at least one meridian, one will become a second stager. Then as one progresses, one will have two more chances at middle and top tier.
Go to the hot springs and recover your energy. Once you are done, I shall teach you how to apply your domain, and impart you a new mantra.¡±
¡°Yes, master.¡±
Minuets later, Andariel lay floating in the water of a hotspring. His fingers covered his face from the warm, shining rays of the sun. it was as if he had been born anew. He could hold his breath for over ten minutes without moving, and overall, his body felt stronger, and his mind more serene. And as he lay there, unmoving and peaceful, he slowly entered the world of dreams.
¡
Tall mountain with snowy peaks piercing through the white, fluffy clouds. The blue sky was nearly blotted out by these clouds, and only some sun rays could get through. Below, the color of green surrounded the small strips of blue containing fresh water. It was truly a marvelous sight to behold.
On the tallest of these mountains, Andariel lay still, eyes closed.
¡°Boy, open your eyes.¡±
Disrupted in his sleep, Andariel slowly opened his eyes and released a long yawn. But once he looked around, he couldn¡¯t dare to believe his eyes.
The sight was incredible beautiful. The color of white surrounded him from every direction, and the cold, frosty air made it even more real.
¡°Ahhh!¡±
Andariel¡¯s eyes instantly expanded, his face becoming pale with fright. In front of him, there was a weird, horse like creature staring at him. It had the body of a horse, but its head was adorned with horns, whiskers protruding from its face. It also had tail from all the colors of the rainbow.
¡°I have been waiting to meet you, Andariel.¡± The creature spoke, its eyes were profound. It reminded him of tale of dragons and other ancient beasts.
He slowly backed away, ¡°How do you know my name?¡±
The whiskers of the creature waffled as it laughed, ¡°You will know the answers when you are ready for them. Don¡¯t worry, I am no enemy of yours.¡±
This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon.
Regretfully, the time we have to speak is little. Therefore, I shall do what I came to do. ¡± The creature said, and a faint blue light converging around it.
The faint blue light shot up into the air. Then, like a lightning bolt, fell down on Andariel and lifted him up in the air.
¡°Andariel, do not misuse this power.¡±
¡°Boom!¡±
¡
¡°Where am I?"
Andariel woke up, his head felt extremely heavy, as if he had been sleeping for several days without waking up. The last thing he remembered was lying here floating. Everything happening after was blank.
Day had turned night, and stars illuminated the land. It was a rather cool and refreshing night, the lukewarm breezes made his long black hair move.
Seeing that he was still floating around, he ascertained his current condition. There was nothing wrong with his body, it was even a bit more powerful than prior. It was most likely the residual effects of breaking through to the second stage.
His DanTian was refilled with energy, so he quickly got dressed and went back to old man Meng. The old man stood with his hands behind his back, and had clearly been waiting for his disciple for a while.
¡°Sorry, master.¡± Andariel cupped his hands, ¡°I somehow fell asleep.¡±
¡°Andariel, catch.¡±
¡°Eh?¡± He caught the book his master threw to him. Reading the title, he knew that it was the new mantra promised to him.
Heaven Inferno Vortex.
Just by reading the name, he understood that this was a very powerful mantra.
¡°This is a high tier mantra I found while excavating a cave here on the island. Even if you compare it to the top mantras of the Sen clan, it should not lose out in the slightest.¡± his master explained.
¡°Master¡ I can''t..¡± Andariel now understood the book¡¯s value, ¡°I can¡¯t accept this, it¡¯s too valuable.¡±
¡°Look up.¡± old man Meng smiled and pointed to the clouds, ¡°how far do you want to reach in your life? What are your dreams? You told me before becoming my disciple that you wanted power. Here I am giving it to you, and you don¡¯t accept it?¡±
¡°Sorry, master.¡± Andariel faltered and accepted the book.
Old man Meng urged for his disciple to come closer, ¡°I shall now teach you how to execute power exertion, to create your own domain. The strenght of one¡¯s domain is equivalent to the quality and quantity of one¡¯s energy, as well as one¡¯s heart of martial hearts.¡±
The man flicked his fingers, causing a tree behind Andariel to explode, ¡°And if one reaches a high enough expertise regarding domains, one can do this. I bet you thought this was a cool technique when I showed you this a month ago, am I right?
Andariel nodded.
¡°This, in turn.¡±
Andariel felt his body being lifted up in the air by an unknown force. He saw the grass below him slowly becoming smaller as he flew higher up in the sky.
¡°Can give birth to the ability to control almost everything inside one¡¯s domain. Of course, if another cultivator with a domain is present, it won¡¯t be that easy.
Old man meng released Andariel, letting him fall to the ground.
"Ouch!"
¡°I have a fire domain. This type is the strongest offensively, but doesn¡¯t have too much defensive power. To awaken your domain, you have to close your eyes and imagine yourself being able to see all around you even without vision. Now you try."
¡°Okay, I will try my best.¡±
Seeing that his master was finished explaining, Andariel closed his eyes and did as his master told him to. He tried to imagine the grassy ground where he stood, the trees blowing in the wind and the blue sky above him.
He lost sense of time, it felt so good to just stand there and be connected to nature. After a while, he opened his eyes only to see his master¡¯s jaw nearly falling to the ground, his eyes wide open, pupils slightly trembling.
¡°You¡ h-how can you have two domains...?¡±

Chapter 9 – Teaser
Hey guys, I have decided to put out a teaser for the next coming Chapter each time I update. I hope this is okay! So here is the teaser to chapter 9
...
.....
......
Six months passed by very quickly, and summer turned into autumn. The hazelnut colored leaves had fallen from the trees, and were slowly withering on the ground, turning into soil for the new life to come.
Andariel stood face to face with his master. his right arm was like an golden mountain, able to tackle everything, while his left hand behind his head was like a fierce cobra, striking faster than thunder.
His master, old man Meng, was leisurely standing with his hands behind his back, dodging every move from Andariel as easily as taking a stroll through his own garden.
¡°You technique is superb, but you need a lot more than this to hit me!¡± Old man Meng shouted as he avoided the first move of Panda¡¯s rage ¨C incapacitate.
A mysterious light shone in Andariel''s eyes, ¡°how about this then?¡±
You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.
Quickly crouching down, Andariel secretly grabbed a handful of dirt within his hand under the pretense of lunging forward from below.
¡°As if that¡¯s going to work!¡± Old man Meng yelled and prepared to dodge.
¡°Now!¡±
Andariel threw the dirt in his handed, hitting his master in the eyes.
¡°Ehh!¡± His master took some steps backward unable to see.
¡°This is it!¡± Andariel shot forward like a bullet toward his master, releasing a barrage of punches that slowly turned into afterimages.
¡°Hehe, tricked!¡±
Hearing his master¡¯s playful voice, Andariel quickly tried to retreat. But it was already too late, the result now was inevitable.
Old man Meng¡¯s figure flashed, instantly reappearing behind Andariel, lightly tapping his disciple¡¯s back with his palm.
¡°Ahh!¡±
Andariel stumbled forward, and he couldn''t stop himself. His speed was too fast and he lost balance. As such, he hit a big tree to the side, face first, "BAM!"
