《Tomorrow's Legend》 Prologue - The Scrolls ¡°Get a move on! We need to get there by sundown!¡± yelled an angry middle aged man while swinging his sword widely in air venting his frustrations at the caravan behind him. ¡°Father Ronald please calm your anger were almost there¡± A gentle looking girl with blonde hair no older than 16 spoke next to the middle aged man. Hearing his daughter voice behind him Ronald finally calmed down. ¡°I know Helena but we¡¯re still too near the forest we can¡¯t take any risks, and your here with me.¡± Facing his daughter behind him Ronald can¡¯t help but feel guilty putting his daughter in danger. ¡°Father.¡± Seeing her father¡¯s anxious face Helena held her father¡¯s hands to calm his aching heart. ¡°Those Damm nobles..¡± Gritting his teeth in anger Ronald didn¡¯t even want this job in the first place but it paid well the only problem is the trip is dangerous and he couldn¡¯t leave his daughter when those damn nobles had their eyes on her. ¡°Worry not Helena this will be the last job and we will move to the capital!¡± ¡°Yes father¡± Helena obediently nodded, she knew her father¡¯s aches and worries ever since her mom died it was just the two them. ¡°Ronald sir the scouts have returned there was no problems ahead!¡± A young man equipped with leather armor reported in while giving a salute. ¡°Good after passing this point we should be saf-¡° ¡®pssh!¡¯ Before Ronald even finished speaking an arrow flew by and pierced his chest. ¡°Father!!!¡± ¡°Helena...¡± Clutching his chest dripping with blood Ronald fell the ground. Suddenly a horn being blown could be heard followed by yells and wild growls coming out of the forest. ¡°It¡¯s an attack!¡± ¡°Men arms up!¡± About 40 green crude looking creatures no shorter than a child armed with old swords and axes equipped with dirty animal hides came out rushing at the caravan in a wild frenzy. ¡°Goblins!¡± ¡°It¡¯s a horde of goblins retreat!¡± The 10 soldiers guarding the caravan couldn¡¯t help but shake in fear and run away. Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere. ¡°Noooo!¡± ¡°Help m-..¡± It was hopeless before they could retreat goblins got there in no time, cries of anguish and pain can be heard as the goblins attacked with only one purpose, to kill. Not far away about 10 li away hidden in a bush was a young man watching silently. ¡°Why is there a goblin horde all the way here...?¡± ¡°Looks like it¡¯s not safe to gather Jum Jum berries here anymore..¡± Scratching his head the young man felt lucky to be alive but also disappointed since this was one of his best source of income were gathering Jum Jum berries at the outskirts of the forest. Wondering what the young man should do next loud crying could be heard. ¡°Father!!!!, why!¡± Helena was crying hysterically on the ground holding her dead father she didn¡¯t even notice the death around here. Four goblins started slowly walking up to Helena prying her off her father pushing her to the ground then started ripping her clothes off. Soon cries of pain and suffering could be heard as the goblins defiled Helena. The rest of the goblins after killing off everyone in the caravan started dragging the bodies back in the forest, also grabbing back whatever interested them. ¡°I¡¯m sorry I can¡¯t save you.¡± The young man whispered and looked away. After the goblins left the young man waited again quietly for another hour as a precaution then walked towards the wrecked caravan while holding a dagger in his right hand. ¡®Nothing left..¡¯ shaking his head the young man can only feel disappointed since the goblins took every worth of value. ¡°What this?¡± About to leave the young man notice something on the ground, an old small leather bag. ¡°This is scrolls?¡± Opening the bag two old paper scrolls were inside tightly wrapped in white silk. Carefully unwrapping the scrolls the young man was surprised that he almost dropped them. ¡°No way...Manna control and Fireball!¡±. Chapter 1 Late at night outside the outskirts of a forest a young man no older than 16 years old with short black hair that seemed like it¡¯s been poorly cut by a knife and with a gentle looking face covered in dirt and grime ran like a small rabbit that¡¯s being chased by a wolf. ¡°Hah.. Hah..¡± The young man was sweating and panting like crazy since his weak skinny body couldn¡¯t handle the sudden physical workout but he did not stop. Gritting his teeth and tightly holding a small leather bag he ran as fast as he could as his very life depended on it. ¡°Finally¡¡± After running for 30mins straight the young man arrived at the edge of the forest. Walking quietly while occasionally checking his surroundings the young man entered the forest. About 5 minutes of walking the young man stopped in front of an old oak tree the size of an adult. The young man approached the tree and gently removed the front bark of the tree removing a hidden hole underneath. The young man slowly got in as he entered the hole, and closed up the entrance. Entering the hole was small wooden stairs that lead to a small underground room with walls made of clay. Lighting up a candle in his pocket the young man¡¯s room was fully shown. It only contained a small hay bed with animal hides as sheets, and a small wooden barrel filled with the young man¡¯s few items and clothes he possess. Sitting down on his bed the young man quickly took out the small leather bag. ¡°It really is Mana Control and Fire Ball!¡± The young man was shaking with excitement as he held the scrolls. ¡°If I sell these they would go for 10 gold or even more!¡± ¡°But... Considering my status they would probably kill me and take the scrolls knowing I have these¡¡± The young man frowned and thought about his circumstances. The young man belong the commoner class, and is also an orphan. Knowing the dangers of possessing something valuable without strength and from past experiences he knew it will only invite trouble. ¡°Maybe I could learn it¡¡± The young man quietly thought. ¡°Father did say great grandfather was a magician...¡± The young man suddenly turned sullen as he remembered his father telling him stories when he was a child but quickly shook his head trying to forget his childhood past. In this age Magicians were fairly common around the world but where the young man lived magicians were only a selected few, but those selected few held riches and power more than a noble. ¡°Even if it¡¯s a small chance I¡¯ll do it!¡± The young man with great conviction opened the first scroll ¡°Mana Control¡±. ¡°What¡¯s this!¡± As he opened the scroll the scroll glowed brightly as a star, as the words written in an unknown language flew out of the scroll and entered the young man¡¯s head. Closing his eyes the young man felt like he was dreaming. The instructions for Mana Control were deeply imbedded in his mind. He felt like every word, and the very essence of Mana Control was part of him. After the time it takes to drink a cup of tea the young man slowly opened his eyes. ¡°Looks like scrolls are only for one time use¡± Bitterly smiling and shaking his head the young man looked at the empty scroll in his hand no more useless than a piece of paper. Following the instructions of Mana Control within his mind the young man sat down cross legged. ¡°This feels uncomfortable¡¡± The young man couldn¡¯t help but feel weird as he positioned his body straight as an arrow while cross legged as he followed the instructions. An hour passed with no results but the young man kept slowly breathing in and out not giving up. When the 2 hour marked passed the young man suddenly felt a weird sensation coursed throughout his body as he slightly jolted up, than he felt bits of tiny fragments of energy floating in the air around him. ¡°I can sense Mana!¡± The young man felt incredibly happy, sensing Mana means that he can qualify to be a magician. Calming down his excitement the young man proceeded to the next step absorbing the Mana within his body. Slowly but careful he breathes in the air as he diverts the small fragments of mana within his body coursing it to his feet. ¡°Shit!¡± The small bit of mana he absorbed suddenly disintegrated and disappeared into nothingness. ¡°Well I guess it¡¯s not that easy to be a magician¡± Shaking his head while laughing the young man didn¡¯t feel down but instead excited. A few hours passed as the young man continued to absorb Mana but occasionally furrow his eyebrows as he failed many times. If someone were to look closely they would suddenly see a faint blue light emit throughout his body then suddenly disappear. If any magician saw this scene they would be very surprise, it¡¯s uncommon for Mana to emit a color while being absorb. ¡°Only a small bit...¡± The young man smiled as he felt a small bit of Mana in his body like water trickling down a leaf early in the morning after a rainy night. ¡°Mana is the very energy that gives life but isn¡¯t Mana more than that? Instead of being an energy source it feels like Mana is alive almost like it can speak¡¡± Scratching head the young man pondered with this question, he felt that after absorbing Mana, the description on what Mana is in the scroll seemed wrong to him. ¡°Perhaps with this new power¡¡± Suddenly but silently small killing intent emitted in the air than like a flower blossoming the killing intent exploded, causing the very air to be hazy like in a very hot day. The one emitting the killing intent was of course the young man, as he was sitting down his gentle demeanor was no longer there but instead replaced by a vicious aura filled with bloodlust. ¡°Mother, Father¡ Don¡¯t worry I will never forget.¡± The young man whispered. ¡°I Sankon Hanjo will never forget.¡± Closing his eyes Sankon calmed himself down, his killing intent disappeared like a wisp of smoke. ¡°ah what¡ owww!¡± Sankon suddenly yelled as his muscles in his body spasmed causing him to roll in the ground in pain. ¡°Ah my bac-¡° Before finishing his sentence Sankon fainted on the floor. Poor Sankon didn¡¯t even realize how exhausted he truly was after running like mad today with his weak body, and to top it off sitting in the Mana Control position was also exhausting him even more, a normal person would have fainted long time ago. Surprisingly the fainted Sankon didn¡¯t have pained face but instead a smiling face as he slept. Chapter 2 *Whoosh* A small ball of fire no larger than a baby¡¯s fists flew like an arrow hitting an old tree causing it to shake for a few seconds from the impact. ¡°Wow¡¡± A young man no older than 16 years old was wearing an old black robe that was a bigger than his size with a delicate face that was partly covered by his black hair was standing not too far away from the old tree. Of course this young man was Sankon after a few days of practicing Magic his presence was different than before, his innocent demeanor was now replaced by a sense of calmness, with a hint of killing intent underneath that seemed sharp as a blade. ¡°mhmm with my Mana my fireball is only passible compared to the real fire ball¡± Scratching his cheek the young man can¡¯t help but bitterly smile as his own fireball was smaller and weaker to the original one on the scroll since his Mana was fairly small which is understandable considering he only has been training for a few days. ¡°Imagine a small fire, feel the heat, the life it gives¡¡± The young man slowly closed his eyes and muttered. After a few seconds small red dots of lights which were invisible to the naked eye were slowly coming close together in Sankon¡¯s right opened hand. Then a small blaze appeared in the middle of his palm then like a flower it bloomed into a small fire ball. ¡°Phew, success again!¡± Sankon smiled happily while wiping the sweat of his forehead before creating a fireball he had many failed attempts, this was his only 2nd successfully attempted of creating a fire ball. ¡°Crap!¡± The small fireball in Sankon hand suddenly got smaller and smaller until it disappeared leaving only a trail of smoke in the air. ¡°Looks like my Mana is only capable of handling 1 fireball¡± Sankon laughed out loud with a carefree attitude not caring at all about his failure instead he seemed excited as his eyes seemed brighter than normal. *Grumble~* ¡°Tsk. I forgot I haven¡¯t eaten since last night¡¡± As his stomach emitted a noise similar to a hungry beast Sankon shooked his head and laughed. Inside a forest Sankon was walking quietly with a dagger in hand occasionally looking around him while hiding behind trees as he moved forward. After the time it takes to drink tea Sankon arrived a bit deeper in the forest. Slowly Sankon looked around on the ground as he was looking for something. ¡°Looks like today was a big catch!¡± Sankon laughed as he arrived in a triggered pit trap where a boar was multiply impaled with wooden spikes all over its body. ¡°Ouch! this fatty¡¡± When Sankon tried to carry the Boar out he didn¡¯t know how heavy it was so as soon as he grabbed it¡¯s head and pulled he slipped and fell down to the ground. ¡°¡¡± ¡°With this much meat this will last me for quite awhile!¡± Sankon laughed as he looked at the dead boar behind him. After many attempts Sankon ended up cutting the boar in half to get it out and made a make shift stretcher out of wood as he dragged the boar slowly back home. Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? After sometime as Sankon carefully travelled back home while occasionally checking his surroundings he arrived in his old oak tree home. Arriving in his room Sankon got to work as he quickly skinned the boar like an expert, then proceeded to gut the boar while slicing it into smaller pieces. He then lit a small makeshift clay stove underneath his floor. As soon as the fire started the smoke from the fire was suddenly sucked in by a small white ashed flower next to the stove. ¡°This Ash Flower is really useful¡± Sankon can¡¯t help but smile when he saw the flower suck in the smoke. By chance he found this flower and found out that its main food source was smoke since it grows near volcanoes or where fire occasionally occured. Thanks to this flower Sankon was saved from many troubles of when using fire. Sankon then proceeded by putting a few pieces of meat in a frying fan while adding a few herbs and spices. Soon the room was filled with a sweat aroma of cooked meat. ¡°This is good!¡± Sankon can¡¯t help but smile as he woofed down the meat like a hungry beast *Burp~* ¡°How come I was so hungry? Is this what happens when you train with magic?¡± After finishing his meal Sankon was still hungry so he continued to cook more meat then he intended to which resulted in him cooking half the boar. ¡°I guess this means I¡¯m getting stronger¡¡± Sankon smiled happily normally he wasn¡¯t such a big eater since he¡¯s body was normally physically weak but ever since he started practicing magic he seemed to be more leaner even a little bit more taller. After eating, Sankon then went outside and climbed the old tree as he sat down closed his eyes and crossed legged as he faced the moon. Ever since Sankon started training magic he never stopped once he occasionally trained throughout the day. After a few moments Sankon was immersed in the meaning of Mana control then he suddenly started growing dimmed blue like a festival lantern. If other mages were to see this they would be so shocked that their eyes would pop out, firstly no ordinary mage can suddenly immersed themselves with Mana control after only a few days of training magic but then to actually project Mana being absorb onto your body, that¡¯s a phenomenon that¡¯s unheard off! ¡°Mana is... it flows through everywhere¡ why does it seem so concentrated when the moon is out?¡± Sankon muttered. ¡°Co-ugh¡ Blood¡?¡± *Boom!* ¡°Aah!¡± Out of nowhere when Sankon suddenly started coughing out blood, there was a mini explosions of blue lights from his chest than he flew in the air falling down like a fallen leaf. ¡°Cough, What th-¡¡± Before Sankon can even finish his sentence he fainted¡.
