"Yes that one, I heard that half of the country is almost destroyed by the demons" "That¡¯s what I heard too, the great alliance even sent some reinforcements even though they knew that they won¡¯t make it in time but when the reinforcements arrived what they saw is that the demons are already dead and above those pile of corpse is an individual holding a strange black sword with glowing red outlines" *gasp* "then what happened?" "The individual flee the scene, some of the reinforcements tried to pursue but this individual is too fast and left the chasing people dumbfounded" "What about the survivors?" "Well they all said that if this individual suddenly appeared and single handedly eliminated the demons and saved their lives" "Did they discover this individual''s identity?" "Sadly no, but there is a circulating rumor based on this individual''s weapon" "What is it?" "Ooh come on don¡¯t you get it, ''black sword with glowing red outlines'' there is no one in the entire world who won¡¯t recognize that weapon" "!?, wait you mean him? But he is dead for about 200 years now? How could that be possible, that individual might just be someone who use the same weapon" "That¡¯s what makes it more interesting and besides you know that no one ever succeeded forging a similar sword much less a replica that behave that way" "certainly even if it looked like the same, if you infuse the sword with mana the whole sword will glow and the color depends on what type of mana is used which different to that sword which only those red outlines glow and you will never tell which element is used until it hit you." This type of conversations is something that is circulating around for quite some time now. At first it is just some rumor about the sudden invasion of the demons that had been defeated by nearly 200 years ago by the heroes. It is said that during those era, magic is something that does not exist but after the sudden invasion of the demon army widely known as ''Demons of Greed''(D.O.G.). It is revealed that humans and other races have their power sealed until the greatest hero breaks those seals. It stated first with the elves become capable of summoning spirits and wields their power then the humans learned how to use magic with the blessing of the one true god. Soon enough this events are followed by the dwarfs and the beast men race. Everything is a race against time to gain more strength and repel if not destroy the invading demons. The war lasted for ten years and finally manages to corner them but at the place where the final threshold of the demons remains, a very powerful barrier was erected and only those who are strong enough can enter. In the end each race sent out the best brave souls ad end this war. Those brave souls won and forever regarded as heroes but the greatest and strongest of them all did not make it alive. It is said that during the final breath of the one responsible for this war suddenly released a huge spell that can reduce the whole place into nothingness at this moment the greatest hero sacrificed his life to suppress it and in the end succeeded with the cost of his whole body turning into dust. And how is it related to the rumor? Records of the war 200 years ago testify that the greatest hero used a mysterious weapon with unknown material his swords color is pitch black and has deep red outlines which glows every time he infuse it with magic and concealed the element he is using. "What is your opinion on these rumors Lady Mae?" "Jem what did i tell you about calling me when we are outside?" "m-my apologies, I mean Mae what do you think about these rumors?" "Well as they say there won¡¯t be a smoke without fire and some rumors have some truth behind them, but still it¡¯s impossible for that hero to return, hmm maybe it¡¯s his descendant or a successor he had when he miraculously survived the last battle" "It is a good analysis and a possibility since no matter how powerful is that hero he is still born as a human" At the corner of a busy tavern two young ladies are eating their lunch and listening to the people talking about different things and hoping to catch some bits of good information. *bang* Suddenly a big burly man the counter using his hands and began shouting. "You useless piece of shit, are your brain still attached to this head of yours? You let that man deceive you by offering this piece of trash for the food he eat" "I-I¡¯m sorry boss but he said that this is something that cost not lower than a platinum coin" "YOU YOU LOOK AT IT DO YOU THINK THIS BLACK PIECE OF ROCK HAS ANY VALUE?" "But it looks different from a simple rock and i felt something strange from it" "Damn it you and your bull shit instincts again, if it isn¡¯t for my dead brother I already kick you out of this place" At this commotion all guest are now looking at the scene. "Jem" "Yes mil- I mean Mae" "What do you think about the stone that that youth is holding?" "Hmm it¡¯s too far but it is really not a normal stone. I never seen one so pitch black before but has a very round and has such smooth surface that rivals a precious gem like a Perl" Thinking about her companions comment she placed her smooth white hands on her chin and began thinking. Then she move forward and barge in the scene "Dear sir may i ask what happened here?"(Mae) "It¡¯s none of your business missy"(boss) *GLARE* "I''m asking you what it is." "Nice try but I¡¯m a former a-rank swordsman you won¡¯t be able to-" before he even finish what he is saying Mae took something in her pocket and showed it to the boss, he noticed the emblem on the woman¡¯s hand and turn pale. "Fo- For give my rudeness I did not know you are a member of the <>" The man began sweating as he know what authority the <> has, if someone ever offended a member of the Order it might turn really ugly and based on the emblem''s black and gold color it means that this woman has a high rank. The emblem¡¯s design has a black sword at the center with a very small magic circle engraving at the center of the guard. The sword is encircled with ancient runes which mean ¡®Destroy evil and protect the innocent¡¯. The emblem has two distinct color representing the holders rank, one is the outer outline or the rim, representing your rank in the order and the second one is the main color of the emblem representing superiority or your position within that rank. "Now speak" "Yes, earlier a man wearing a black cloak ordered a huge amount of food equaled to five servings and then left this useless stone as a payment. I did not noticed it earlier because I am busy cooking in the kitchen but this brat here accepted it and you know the rest" "Let me take a look at it" "ye yes certainly" The man grabbed the stone from his worker and gave it to Mae. Upon inspecting her eyes began to widen and looked at the worker who is still a small girl around 10 years of age. "From what I heard earlier you notice something strange on this stone. Tell me what did you noticed? The girl became nervous and stuttered while speaking "y-yes i-it has a-a-a strange glow" "hoo, have you practiced learning magic?" "n-no I-I haven¡¯t there is n-no one who c-c-could teach me and bo-books are expensive" "I see, JEM" Another woman move forward that is close to the first one by age and respond to the call "Purse" "Yes" The woman called Jem then lifts her right hand forward and the ring on her finger began to glow and a small pouch appeared on her hand. "Storage ring!" Most people gasp in surprise it is not uncommon to see a storage ring and but most people cannot afford to buy one, it can be said that a storage ring is a symbol of status. The man look at the woman wanting to ask something but. "I will give that to you in exchange for the stone and the rights to take that girl into my custody" Facing the girl "take all of your belongings you are coming with me" The man became confused but deep inside he was quite happy because finally he has a reason to get rid of his bad luck. ¡°Clarisse go take all of your stuff¡± In her surprise the girl named Clarisse said ¡°but boss, no uncle, are you throwing me away¡± with her moistened eyes. ¡°Listen here brat, from the looks of it this lady here has taken an interest in you and don¡¯t you want to go to a school? This might be your greatest opportunity so don¡¯t waste it¡± The girl got hit by the thought of an opportunity to study magic in a good school and then she nod in agreement. ¡°See, now get your stuff and don¡¯t let them wait for too long¡± Then the man facing the two women, bow to them and said. ¡°Thank you very much for taking in that girl. She is a really hard working girl and wants to become a mage but with my lack of funds I cannot make her dream come true¡± ¡°No need to be humble, I merely took an interest in her but for her to achieve that dream she has to work harder¡± After that commotion the two women left the establishment together with the girl. Clarisse sitting on a horse behind the woman called Jem riding towards the destination only those two know of become exited towards the uncertain yet a future she knew will change her life. At a good distance a man whose body is covered in full by a black cloak, stares at them while having a grin on his face. ¡°he he he, She was really a good girl and a rare talent at that but her circumstances were so bad that it affects her growth. Good thing those nobles are in the tavern and my plan worked perfectly, well I intend to take her with me and personally train her if the plan failed but, I¡¯m afraid she might get traumatized by it. When a mana stone became empty its color became darker and the quantity of the mana it has depends on its color, wait don¡¯t tell me it¡¯s?¡± ¡°Yes it is an empty mana stone¡± ¡°But to spend that much to a single empty mana stone with that size¡± What her companion said is right, empty mana stones do not cost that much since its empty and you can never tell how much mana you can store with it. Thus mana stones are usually sold having its mana capacity to its maximum storage capability. The color of the stones which is the basis of its quality are Gray, Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, white and finally Transparent. Black being the lowest and transparent being the highest which is only said exist in the legends. Most common color you can see in the market is red and is already considered a good quality mana stone. The size of the stone also matter since the bigger it is the more mana it can store. The largest mana stone in existence is at the Great alliance Temple which is at the size twice that of a full grown man and up to this date since its discovery the mana quality it contains only reached up to green in color and a faint blue outline. ¡°Indeed that is true but this mana stone is really strange. I tried to put some mana in it which is enough to turn an ordinary mana stone with the same size to its maximum capacity, forget about changing its color, until now I¡¯m continuously inserting mana inside it and there are no indications that it is almost full¡± Normally you can tell that a mana stone is almost at its capacity when the stone began to leak small amounts of mana and forcing more would break the stone, releasing all the mana stored inside it. Surprised expression can be seen on the face of Jem since this is indeed a strange thing. There are no records that a mana stone that size can store more mana than normal. ¡°Then that means¡±(Jem) ¡°There is a probability that this stone is a very high grade one or it can be an ancient artifact that stores mana. Who knows it might have other features other than storing mana¡± ¡°How how can such a thing exist?¡± ¡°That I do not know but the proof is in front of our eyes¡± Then Mae asked the girl they brought along ¡°What is your name?¡± ¡°C-C-Clarisse¡± ¡°Oh named after one of the heroes eh, do you recognize the man who gave this stone to you?¡± Clarisse shakes her head and said ¡°N- No his face is hidden from his cloak, B-but we talk for a bit and whe-when I told him I want to become a great mage, He he gave me that stone a-and said ¡®have this as payment for the food and if everything goes well you will have your wish¡¯ then he also told me that e-even idiots ca-can tell that th-this stone is worth more than one platinum coin¡± The group continued to travel until night fall. After setting up the tent and ate their fill Clarisse the little girl fell asleep. Outside the forest facing the camp fire Mae gave out a deep sigh and chuckled for a bit, when Jem noticed this reaction she asked. ¡°Did something make you glad?¡± ¡°No Jem, don¡¯t you get it? We got used on a scheme¡± ¡°How?¡± *tsk *tsk *tsk ¡°Jem my dear friend. This stone is just bait for us to take this girl with us¡± ¡°Don¡¯t tell me this girl is a spy?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t think so, my guess is he noticed something about this girl and decided to help her then paid the highest price to gamble weather we will take her or not¡± ¡°Based on what you are saying this girl has some unknown talent?¡± ¡°Yes, when she answered my question in the tavern earlier I had my suspicion that is why I took her in but now from that man¡¯s action it¡¯s possible that this girl has something that caught his attention¡± ¡°Aren¡¯t you over confident towards that man?¡± ¡°Think about it Jem, if you have this stone will you just let it go just for the sake of a girl god knows who? She is too average. Mana capacity is average for her age, single element which is water, but what shocks them is her mana sensitivity to the point that she can even tell the smallest fluctuation of mana around her. What does this imply? In the future her mana control will be too great and with proper guidance her magic capacity and power will increase as she grows. Imagine a water mage with a very precise control over her mana. Water mages are capable of healing and its sub element which is ice has a huge offensive capability. If she can utilize both then god knows how strong she can be. Book 1 - Chapter 2 : The 200th Year Celebration After the war the word ¡®Mage¡¯ or ¡®Magician¡¯ became the general term for those people who are capable of utilizing magic either through combat or crafting arts. 630 A.W. Exactly 200 years after the invasion of the Demons came to a halt and peace have returned or so they thought. The demons did not disappear but instead scattered, without a leader they began to roam around like wild animals and breed. To resolve this problem, the great alliance created a ranking system and assign the subjugation based on the rank an individual possess. Ranks are divided from F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, and X where F being the lowest and X being the highest. Having an SSS rank already rivals the heroes of 200 years ago who fought against the Demon Lord or what he is called now a days. Even though X rank exists there is only one in the entire history who is recognized thought out the world as such and that is the greatest hero who sacrificed himself in the last battle. His accomplishments are so great that even if the other heroes¡¯ accomplishments combined it won¡¯t even reach half of the total deeds he has done. Based on The Great Alliance records most of the heroes owe their lives to the great hero and devoted themselves in accomplishing the great hero¡¯s dreams and that is to create a safe world where their offspring¡¯s can live peacefully. Thus upon their efforts every country began to prosper and provide security on its citizens. Even on this day which the demons still remains ordinary citizens can live peacefully in their everyday lives. And so on this day, a lot of people are gathered on the main street of the city which is considered as the greatest. Located in the biggest country that stand neutral and where the great hero is being honoured the most because he spend his childhood on this very country named Gaia, on this City of Nos. There are several stalls along the road and everyone is eager to see the parade honouring the heroes who fought and won against the demon lord and the most anticipated among the group is the elites of the number one Demon hunting school named after the greatest hero Khai. The elites of the school stand firm and proud wearing their Elite uniform which serve as a symbol of their status and power. The Elites are 13 in number and the one that stands above all is a woman famed from her prowess and ice cold personality. Standing 5¡¯6¡± in height having a sky blue hair that reach until her waist, a pair of deep brown eyes with a glare that can kill it laid upon, a pale rosy skin which is as smooth as porcelain, and a slim yet firm figure that can entice many men. The adopted daughter of the prestigious noble house of Crane which gained a lot of achievement s up to this day and her name soar throughout the world. Having the same name as one of the heroes, some believed that she is her reincarnation even though their skill and combat style of choice differs. Fifty years after the war against the demons the academy officially opens its doors to new talents. It took about twenty years to construct and it is hailed as the oldest school that trains its students to become strong Demon hunters. Throughout the years the academy produced a lot of powerful hunters and some of them became wildly known thus adding to the fame of the school. The school is also a dormitory type where students have to stay inside the school campus all the time except for long holidays where they need to go back to their home town or families. After the parade, all students are gathered to the main hall of the school because this is also the day when they welcome the new students who will be attending the school. Thus the new term ceremony takes place. The school is divided by two levels, the juniors and the seniors. The junior level is subdivided into four levels and the age requirement into attending is at least 13 years of age which is mostly not observed because most of the students enter the school at the age of 14. The main reason for this development is because the school requires each student to be at least D rank in terms of abilities and proficient on at least one combat style. Stolen novel; please report. The combat styles that are commonly practiced are <> that uses a sword as the main weapon but there are a lot of sword types that fall under this category nonetheless all of them is using a type of sword or a blade. The second one is <> from the word lance, every single one of these practitioners is using a type of a long staff with some sort of a blade or a sharp object at the other end. Mostly used for pincer attack and have high penetration power against armoured opponents. Third is the <>, Magic device that uses a cartridge that contains magic incantations or magic scripts that is when mana is applied it will activate the cartridge and shoot out or launch the spell which is where this type of style got its name . The power and effectiveness depends on the script and the device. There are 3 types of launcher the <> which is a short distance device that is commonly used by one hand and can act as a support or a vanguard depending on the situation. <> it is a mid-range weapon and known for its destructive power that can shoot out huge spells against the enemy, mostly used against large group of enemies because of its area of effect, the only downside of this monster is that it takes a lot of time in between usage. <> It is a long range, light, and high density weapon that uses a scope to target enemies at a very long distance, it is also a good weapon against flying type demons, The down side of it is almost the same with the <> although it does not take as much time, still it cannot be fired in short interval. <> was the result of the research held by the humans and the best crafting race, the dwarves. This gave the other race the opportunity to use magic spells. Fourth is <> this style specialize in sneak attacks and swift movements. Usually this style use daggers and most trusted scouts during raids. Their magic preference include stealth, weapon enhancement like <> but mostly use wind element since it has the most lethal offensive power in terms of sharpness. The fifth is the so called <>. Mostly consist of elves that have a contract with a spirit. Just as the name implies these fighting style involves their summoned spirits that works as their vanguard and source of power. The spells is highly dependent on what type of spirit you have a contract with, the more powerful your spirit is more powerful spells were at your disposal. The most intriguing part of <> are that their spirits can never be stronger than the summoner. The sixth are the type which is called << Defender>> or <>. They train their strength and stamina to the fullest and mostly focus on defence. Their role is to defend the group, mostly on frontal assaults that other types cannot defend and might lead to death. <> are very important on a group subjugation against multiple demons as they maintain the safety and increase survival rate of the subjugation. Because of their high magical and physical defence and resistance, most people find it hard to deal with them. Last but not the least <> as the name implies they are the people capable of casting powerful spells. It is the most traditional style which until now is being practiced, due to its versatility and depending on the individual¡¯s mana capacity the powerful an individual can be. Most of these <> are adept in healing spells which needs one to be not just good but has excellent control on their mana. People belong to this category are highly respected due to their capability to save one¡¯s life. There is also a saying that is attached to this type, ¡°Anger anyone you like but your healer, else regret only comes with death¡±. The senior level has three years; this is because the main purpose is to get them used to fighting demons. The senior year is where the students form their teams and spend their days strengthening themselves. They are sent to different missions and evaluated based on their performance which is critical since after graduating this will determine if they will receive their own formal appointment granted by the << Great Council >>. Usually its military rank but most of the graduates aim to be recognized and become famous. Only the graduates can challenge the SS rank and above otherwise you have to go through a special process that might take years to accomplish. Becoming an SS rank or above became the dream of every Demon hunter around the world, there are only 9 known SS rank and 1 SSS rank which is the last surviving hero of the war 200 years ago. Going back to the new term celebration; otherwise known as ¡®The Welcome Ceremony¡¯. Because for the new students first official school wide celebration. The whole thing went well without any major incidents and the students went to their assigned rooms and after the next day it will be the official start of the school. *inhale* *exhale* ¡°It has been a long time huh, *tsk even though I don¡¯t really need to, why do I have to be forced to go to school?¡± *sigh* ¡°That damned hag saying ¡®Treat this as punishment for not showing yourself over this years¡¯ well it¡¯s not my fault that after I returned from training who would have thought that so many years have passed¡± Well lets head towards the school now. Book 1 - Chapter 3-The new student who arrived late Walking on the well paved road heading towards the academy, you can still see the remains of the previous parade. Stalls are still open and a lot of people are still walking towards different direction. Holding a skewered meat on one hand and a bag on the other, a young man is slowly walking on this well paved road while taking this opportunity for sightseeing. "As expected, a lot of thing did change throughout the years" Voicing out his own opinions while seeing the change in the city, that seems different from his memories. Not before long he arrived at the entrance gate of the school. The gates were huge befitting to its reputation; the gates are made from really sturdy materials as if made to withstand any type of attack. Its height is several meters tall enough to block huge demons on its path. Looking at his back then left and right before looking upward, a weird grin came from his mouth. He gathered some power into his legs then tried jump over the gate; Quite childish but its a feat that cannot be easily done by others, even some high ranking demon hunters all they can do is jump midway then climb the remaining distance. Some outstanding ones might reach near the end but still, jumping over it is not possible unless assisted with some kind of flight magic. That¡¯s how great these gates and the wall surrounding the whole academy is. You can also feel some mana emanating on the gates and some weird runes embedded on it, meaning the gate was also reinforced with magic. on his jump, he quickly reached the top of the gate and having quite the distance between his body and the top of the gate, the gravity then pull his body downwards causing him go over on the other side of the gate. *thump* With a back flip in midair and a smooth landing while having both of his hands held diagonally upwards he said "Landing success" with a grin. He looks around to check if anyone saw him, after confirming that there are no other people around, he walk towards the nearest building as if nothing happened. Since no one have ever though that someone will jump over to enter. There are neither triggers nor traps placed to cope up with this situation. Usually it¡¯s either forcing its way destroying the walls or aerial assault which the main trigger it the size of the creature, since there are normal birds flying the sky. Using summoned creatures as spy to go over is also useless since it is set to cut any outside mana connections, making the summoned creature to disappear. inside the building you can see students that are reading a book, some are merrily talking to each other and some are just minding their own business heading towards to who knows where. Nobody is paying any attention to him because he made sure that he wore the uniform issued by the school so he won¡¯t stand out and blend in. "So what should I do now?" ¡°Avoiding attention is a huge success but I¡¯m quite lost¡± ¡°Since I¡¯m really a transfer student I need to head towards the head masters office. The question is, where IS the head masters office¡± Walking around aimlessly, he walks towards every corridor and hallways, every left and right turn, until he finally reach a point where he hit his patience limit. ¡°Damn where the heck that office is, but before that what the heck is this place?¡± The surrounding walls of the hall way began to change and huge amount of mana began to emit from those walls. ¡°Gaaaah ok that¡¯s it I¡¯m using that¡± losing his temper while scratching his head rapidly he began to gather mana but. ¡°Wait using that is fine but I don¡¯t even know what or rather who am I looking for, I never met the head master in person¡± Completely losing all of his option by normal means and knowing next nothing about the school grounds, well he is really in deep trouble. ¡°Ok let¡¯s do the most logical thing to do, let¡¯s ask around¡± Around at the same time he saw a small group of people walking towards him in the opposite direction. The group has two girls and some guys walking behind them. ¡°Nice timing¡± With a smile on his face he approaches the group. ¡°Hello Good day to all of you¡± The group suddenly halts and the people around those two girls began to emit killing intent. *gulp* ¡®did I do something wrong?¡¯ While thinking like this, some guys tried to approach him with an angry face and a glare that wants to kill. ¡°WHO ARE YOU?, do you know who you¡¯re talking to? HUH?¡± Suddenly a hand block his way, he stopped and looks at the owner of that hand. ¡°Vincent, don¡¯t be unreasonable and from the looks of it he¡¯s a new student¡± ¡°But miss Letica, even so.
