《The Self-Proclaimed God of Fiction》
Prologue: And So The Web Novelist Came To Be
*thud*
"Grnn.."
A young man slowly got up from his desk while rubbing his forehead.
"...Fell asleep again huh?"
The man sighed inwardly, clearly exasparated.
It was already the third time that he fell asleep in the middle of his work, he absolutely had no time in his hands, and was desperately tired. The call of sleep has tempted him again.
"Gotta finish this chapter."
He groaned as he saw the time on the clock fixated on the wall in front of him nearing three. Cans of coffee and crumpled paper are visibly scattered around the small room the man is currently occupying, the smell of sweat lingers in the air.
The young man had short, unkempt black hair. His skin color was light toned. He currently wears a white, long sleeved shirt and brown jeans with a black belt attached accompanied with a pair of white sneakers with black laces. His eyes were a bit out of the norm. His left eye was black while the right one was colored in light blue, a case of heterochromia.
The man''s name was Maxi Seymour
"Haah, can I still make the deadline?"
He was currently on his laptop, working on something. Although he may seem lazy, he is praised by many people as the web novelist who made, "Liberty Hero", a web novel he made a few months back. It was something he planned out years ago, but due to some personal issues, he was unable to start his work on it. When he finally had enough time, he was able to publish it online. It started to gather up a decent amount of fans a few days after the first chapter was posted.
Going back to his seat, Maxi stretched a bit in his chair before cracking his knuckles.
You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.
"Can''t disappoint the readers after all."
After being motivated a bit, he resumed his work.

"Ughh.."
Maxi had spent 20 minutes on writing his latest chapter. It was already done half-way.
Due to his tiredness, he was going on a much slower pace, and wasted a few minutes trying to clear his mind from sleep.
"No good, I feel tired."
His need for sleep prevents him from going any further.
"Guess I gotta delay it after all, I''m sorry guys, but I need rest."
His eyes slowly close, his mind already drifting to unconciousness.
He has finally succumbed to darkness.

Unknowingly to Maxi, the room started to vibrate. A slightly strong wind can be felt, meanwhile, a small black hole can be seen just above his head. Unfortunately, he was nowhere waking up. The hole got bigger and bigger.
Finally, it sucked him in, along with a few other things. Soon after, the void of nothingness vanished, leaving no trace behind.

Author: This is my first work, please enjoy it :D. Any criticism is open for my ears to hear.
It''s a bit short because I have a tight schedule, so sorry folks. D:
Chapter 1: A Web Novelist Is Confused
"Is something wrong?"
"....."
"Come on, speak up."
"..I want to write a novel too!"
"....What you made you say that?"
"Well, uh I-I-"
"Did you really want to write a novel, and not have a reason on why you''re intending to do it?"
"C-Come on! You know why!"
"Huh?"
"I-I... I want to write it for you! You write so many of them, you would read some for me when I felt sad, and they were so amazing that I felt happy again! That''s why, when I finish making one, I can read it to you too, to make you happy!"
"......Maxi,"
"Uh, yeah?"
A gentle smile flashes across the man''s face.
"I''m looking forward to your story."
The boy''s expression turned into surprise, and almost instantly, changed into bright glee.
"You won''t regret waiting dad!"

.
..
...
"...."
Maxi''s eyes slowly open, slightly tired. He still felt a bit sleepy, so he closed them again,
''Huh?''
But somehow, he felt a grassy texture beneath his hands, as well as a bright glare directed to his corneas. He also felt his body was sprawled on the ground. He couldn''t have fell from his chair right? But why was he feeling this sort of sensation telling him that it doesn''t seem like it?
''......!?''
As he slowly got up into a sitting position, the view in front of him made his eyes snapped open wide. If his face had shown any sign of sleepiness, it was instantly replaced with confusion, shock, and fear mixed together.
"Where am I!?"
He shouted, but nobody was present to hear it nor to respond to it. He heard nothing but his own voice, and the seemingly peaceful sound of nature.
Through his slightly unusual eyes, he saw a large area of grass and trees that surrounded him. He also noticed that he was in a higher terrain because of how the wind felt slightly strong, and how far the view seemed to him. Was he on a large hill perhaps?
He was greatly shocked, but had slightly calmed down so he can gather his thoughts and clear his mind. He wanted to know where he was, and why he was here.
''Where the hell am I? Where the hell is here!? Could it be a dream? No no no, it doesn''t feel like it. Was I kidnapped, perhaps drugged? That''s the most logical thing I could think of, but I don''t even know where they sent me, I don''t even think it would be worth it to leave me here. Damn....''
He was confused, at first he thought of this to be a dream, but denied it shortly afterwards. He also denied the act of him being kidnapped/drugged, as he didn''t even see a sign of human life, or any form of life at all.
Also, his apartment was located in a city interconnected with roads that lead to other cities, as well as a few towns . It''s almost impossible to find any forest as big as this near it. Even if one would drive a vehicle, it would take at least a day or two to find a large forest in the vicinity. He didn''t even feel sick or hungry at all, so it didn''t seem to be much of a possibility.
So the two biggest questions he is facing right now is: Where is he? And how can he go back?
"Ah, forget it. I''ll have to assess where I am first, and figure out question #2 later."
Although he is still a bit shocked, he is mostly calmed down. After all, he always believed that being calm can help solve more issues than just panicking. But he was still slightly scared.
Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author.
As he slowly got up to stand, he noticed two familiar things near him: A mechanical pen, and a notebook.
"Huh? Why are these here?"
He questioned in his mind as he bent down slightly to pick them up. There''s no doubt about it, they''re all his. The pen was black in color, and had had a golden trim in the tip and in the bottom, the cap was also black. The notebook was slightly bigger than a normal one. It''s color was a darkish grey, and had a strange symbol embedded in the middle. The symbol consisted a thin golden circle, and inside of it, was an unusual plus sign. (not a cross by the way.)
The pen and notebook were things Maxi recieved during his time as a kid. He didn''t know when or why he got it, but they were very precious to him. The only reason he didn''t react much was because of the absurd situation his common sense tried to analyze.
But, he was glad that these two things that stuck with him for so long still remained in his hold.
As more questions began forming in his head, he firmly held his objects of happiness on his right hand, and started moving.
"Well, I better start trekking down this hill first. It''s the first important thing I have to do, then after that is finding out where I hell I am."
___________________________________________________________________________________________________
"How big is this forest!?"
Maxi had been walking through the forest for at least 30 minutes. He was sure he would have already been outside after at least 10 minutes of continuous movement, but that was not the case.
Wherever he was, he was sure to be very far away from his apartment/home.
"This is larger than any forest I''ve ever seen in my whole life! Though I never actually been outside much..."
He muttered to himself as he started walking in a faster pace, hoping to at least find an exit to this large maze full of trees and vines. In fact, he was so caught up on getting outside, he didn''t even noticed a small, strange-looking creature in front of him.
"Ugh, this is so tiring-"
"Arf!"
"WAHHH!!"
Ah, seems he noticed it.
Maxi stumbled backwards and fell on his bottom. He was surprised by the suddenly loud sound that fell on his ears.
He groaned as his head slowly turns towards the source of the noise,
"What was tha-"
But the next few words he was about say died in his mouth.
The creature was strange-looking. Though it''s appearance is similar to a wolf cub, it was still unusual. It''s fur was light blue, had triangle shaped ears and a large tail that seemed fluffy to the touch. It''s eyes were an even lighter blue however, and held an icy look. It''s claws were black and looked diamond-like in appearance. It was quite small.
Overall, it was a delicate looking creature, and beautiful too.
However, that was not the reason why Maxi was surprised.
It looked familiar to him....very familiar.
"Wha-"
There was no doubt about it, he knew what this creature was. And it shocked him to no end.
To Maxi, this is the most unbelievable situation he has ever gotten himself into.
"I-Is that a.. [Glacier Hound] ?"
It was a creature that existed only fiction....
Existed in only a story...
A story that HE made..
It was a creature from his novel...."Liberty Hero".
.....Seems the possibility of going home is becoming more impossible.

End of Chapter 1
Author: I think this chapter is also short as well, don''t you think? To be honest, I''m just planning the story as I write.
So I have no idea what I''m doing.
Hope you enjoyed it. PEACE :D
Chapter 2: The Web Novelist Is Shocked
*TSPGoF*
There was a certain web novel that caught the interests of many people, it wasn''t the best, but it was good enough to be widely known amongst the internet.
It all started within the world called [Vitaeria], where the concept of magic existed.
Magic is the spiritual essence of a soul, it is what strengthens the world. Without it, life will deteriorate.
Along with it, there existed all forms of life.
There were many races that inhabited [Vitaeria], but there were 5 specific races that had been able to establish countries of their own.
There were the strong, courageous humans. The fierce and agile Beastmen. The cunning and intelligent Elves. The bulky and technologically advance Dwarves. And finally, the prideful and fast Demons.
Wars were common, and each had lasted for almost decades. This was simply due to the races'' disagreements to each other. Because of that, hatred has formed within each of them.
They primarily fought with weapons that were used for either close-combat or long range, but they also used magic along side them.
The protagonist was actually not a race from the main five, just a more lesser known one.
The story gave a slight insight to the difference between choosing or making an act that would be considered favoring one side and straining another, and choosing or making an act that was unbiased, and neutral.
The plot was enjoyable, and it was overall quite good, so the people say.
Now back to the main problem at hand.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Maxi had simply stood there, dumbfounded by the creature that he saw in front of him.
It was surely a [Glacier Hound]. He couldn''t mistake it.
But....why?
It made no sense to him. He''s currently in reality right? Then why is it that something he had created from his novel, is currently looking his way?
More questions are forming in his head. It wasn''t a dream, he confirmed that.
This is reality..... or so he thinks it is.
Maxi is currently stressed out. He just can''t believe it.
He had to take a few big breaths, probably more so, considering the unbelievable situation.
Maxi had somehow calmed down. How he was taking this all in, he didn''t know.
He just hopes he isn''t insane.....
''If this is reality, then that thing in front of me is real. If it really is a [Glacier Hound], then I should know what to do... probably.''
He had to identify his current situation right now, since he couldn''t a short while back.
Glacier Hounds live in cold-climate areas, but due to their unusual bodies, they can survive almost anywhere. They become aggressive if threatened, but they''re mostly neutral.
If he remembers correctly, they''re Level 6 monsters.
Levels signify the threat of a monster, it starts off from Level 1 all the way up to Level 12.
Level 1-2 monsters are very weak, even an untrained citizen can kill one with enough effort.
Level 3-5 monsters need more experience to tackle, people that can take them ranges from the common soldier to a knight.
Level 6-8 monsters are more stronger, and need groups to deal with.
Level 9-11 monsters are powerful, it would take an army to kill one. It''s quite rare to encounter these types.
Level 12 monsters are catastrophic, one alone has enough power to destroy a country. Though people don''t believe they exist, since nobody has ever seen one. The few who got to see at least one were considered crazy, so no one believed them.
Though Maxi may have encountered a Level 6 monster, it''s still a child, so there shouldn''t be anything to worry about.
He actually thought it looked adorable too...
"Arf?"
"..Hey there little fella."
Maxi wondered why the cub was in an area that seemed far away from its home. It would be common for a pack to leave their snowy homeland in order to relocate, it was so that they can repopulate in other areas. It''s the reason why they''re almost commonly encountered.
Is the little cub lost?
He didn''t really thought about it since he was shocked when he first saw it.
"Are you lost?"
The cub slightly tilted it''s head to the side as if it understood him. Anyone would have thought of it to be cute.
This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
Maxi slowly approached the cub, but it seemed to think of it as hostile, and growled at him. Snow particles seemed to be visibly emanating around the it.
Even if it was still a child, it still looked pretty tough. Especially since Maxi''s just an ordinary person.
"Don''t worry, I won''t hurt you."
It was understandable, who would trust a complete stranger that they met a few seconds ago?
He had to calm the cub down and tell it that he was friendly. It took a few tries, but the cub seemed to hesitate a bit before inching closer to him.
"Why don''t you come with me? We can find the exit together."
Maxi gently told the cub, it seemed to be a bit happier now that it has company.
"Arf!"
The cub''s tailed wagged happily before joining the novelist.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________
"Guh, finally!"
It took them at least 20 minutes of walking around to find an exit. Needless to say, he was almost jumping in joy when he found one. The cub seemed to be happy too.
"Arf-arf.."
The cub seemed to be feeling tired. How long was it lost inside the forest? More importantly, why was it lost in the first place? Where was it''s travelling companions?
He''ll have to think about it later.
"There, I found a place we can rest"
Maxi said to the cub as he beckoned it to follow him.
There was a lone tree next to a small pond. They didn''t go far from their original spot, but having a small break right now is more important, especially for the cub.
They sat on the side of the tree where the shade was blocking the sun. The cub must have been more tired than Maxi thought it was as it fell asleep almost immediately after.
"Huh, I''m taking all of this in so easily. Whatever.."
Maxi sighed. His problem just got more confusing after meeting with the cub, yet he''s doing so well right now.
"....."
He glanced to his right hand, he''s still gripping them so tightly.
Maxi had posted his story online, but the original work was inside his notebook.
It was a lot thicker than when he first had it. He had to stick in more pages so that he can make the story longer. He didn''t understand why he didn''t just bought a thick, blank book and wrote his story there. It seemed more easier to have just done that than spending an hour just to staple paper in his notebook. But he honestly didn''t care. He also had drawn illustrations of some characters and a few other things to get a more clearer image of what they looked like. It''s mostly the reason why he recognized the Glacier Hound cub almost immediately rather than thinking it was an alien of some sort.
Also, why didn''t he just gave his work to a publisher and made copies so he can make profit instead of posting them online?
He was a really stupid person. But again, he didn''t care.
The mechanical pen was the only thing he used when he was writing on his notebook, he simple refilled its ink so he doesn''t bother buying one.
''I only open my notebook when I''m just copy pasting the contents on the internet. But it wouldn''t hurt to read some of it.''
Maxi never really had time to actually read from it since its contents were too thick and big. He only read it when he was simply re-writing it on his laptop.
A slight wave of nostalgia hit Maxi, it''s already been a few years since he filled the final pages of his work, and not even once did he glanced back at his finished work.
He hesitated a bit before slowly opening his notebook, memories flashing in his mind briefly, making him stop for a few seconds before resuming again.
He opened it, and-
".........huh?"
The first page was empty, no traces of ink were seen.
Maxi was shocked for what seems to be the third time, he was sure that he wrote something there right?
He flipped to the next page, and the next one, and again and again, each time he does so, his expressions fear and confusion grew larger and larger.
A few minutes has passed before he reached the final page..
"...W-What the hell?"
His hands were shaking, it looked as if he was about to drop the notebook he was holding.
His reason of fear being:
....The notebook was empty.

Chapter 3: The Web Novelist Discovered Something
*TSPGoF*
Hours.
It took hours for Maxi to finally calm down. By the time he realized that not a single word was written in his beloved notebook, he quickly flew in anger.
The cub had woken up earlier so he had to calm it down. Fortunately, it wasn''t scared that he was shouting, nor was it angry at him for waking it up from its peaceful nap.
All those years of effort put into that notebook, was gone in almost an instant.
Not only that, it was something he had started working on because he simply wanted someone to read it, a way to say thank you after all those years...
Well, it used to be.
But that was all gone, everything. Sure he had posted most of them already on the internet, but it didn''t give off a sense of accomplishment. He had wasted his precious childhood for that story to be done.
He, who had put almost everything in that notebook, had felt misery unlike any other.
His blank eyes stared at the stars that shone through the sky, it was already nighttime.
The cub was hungry by then. Luckily there was fish that swam in the pond, so it just snatched one and started eating.
It took two more fish, so it was already full. Strangely, the cub was tired again, and resumed what he was formerly doing earlier.
It must have been there for quite a while. Was it really lost, or did something happen to its pack?
He didn''t care about those things right now, he had to take some time to recover after all.
He, who was always tired everyday, did not feel the need to sleep.
His things were lying on his side, should he?
He didn''t know where he was the first time, but now looking at the small sleeping figure, he could take a guess. Though he would be crazy if it was right. He''ll find the answer later.
For now, he opened his notebook.
The sudden loss of his work seemed to be unreal, but it would be slightly less unusual if paired next to his new acquaintance. He was still a bit angry, but he held it all in.
He stared at the blank page, seemingly lost for a few seconds before holding his pen on his left hand. He hadn''t wrote anything on his notebook for years now, just doing it suddenly at this moment just seemed wrong to him.
''..What should I write?'' Maxi thought in his mind.
With having no idea at all, he started thinking. He never had the time to make a fresh new story nor did he had any plans in doing one, he just stuck to writing "Liberty Hero" for awhile. Even after that, he didn''t know if he even wanted to make another one.
While he was absorbed in thought, Maxi''s stomach grumbled.
"Crap." He mumbled.
Maxi didn''t notice that he was hungry until now, he was dead starving.
He could catch the fishes from the pond, but he didn''t know how to set up a campfire. He thought of eating it raw, but that just made him want to eat cooked food more. He could scavenge for some, but he was worried for the sleeping cub. Being a lazy person just made him all the more discouraged.
For some reason, he started writing. He thought of the most tastiest burger he could think of, while adding details of the texture, taste and smell. He was practically drooling off his mouth, how would it actually taste like if it was real? He couldn''t fathom it.
He closed his eyes and started taking deep breaths, he just can''t keep his mind away from food huh? He was so hungry, he didn''t notice a small flash of light that shone from his notebook, then disappearing shortly after.
Stolen novel; please report.
He could imagine the delicious aroma wafting through the air, mmm yummy..
It''s as if he could smell it right now.
"W-Wait, a-am I,"
Maxi''s face scrunched up in confusion, has his sense of smell gotten disoriented? Has he finally gotten crazy?
He opened his eyes. What he saw made them grow as big as saucer plates.
It was a burger. And it was sitting on top of his lap.
"I-I beg your pardon?"
Wasn''t he just writing something about a burger? He looked at his notebook...
It wasn''t there? The page was blank, there was no evidence of anything written there at all.
"What?" Maxi said in confusion and shock, and at the same time in slight awe.
To be honest with himself, he''s already experienced so many unusual things within a short time. He just couldn''t care to react anymore, though he is still freaking out on the inside about this whole thing.
And that''s saying a lot for a person who looked like he had led a seemingly normal life.
''That''s right, stay calm Maxi, stay calm.''
Again, he took deep breaths. Finally, he composed himself.
Did the notebook have some sort of power, or was it simply him? He didn''t know what to say. Everything is so complex, he couldn''t figure out anything at all.
"...Am I supposed to eat it?" He spoke hesitantly.
He wondered what a burger written from a notebook with ink tasted like. It sounded bad, but he couldn''t deny that delicious aroma of food that entered his nose canal.
He put the notebook down, and grabbed the burger. He swallowed with an audible gulp,
And took a bite.
"....."
Maxi had felt something swelling up inside him, like he experienced something:
He tasted heaven.
It summed up what he was currently feeling.
''Delicious!''. He thought in bliss.
He couldn''t describe in words how good it was.
The burger''s flavor was enhanced by the patty''s juices that flooded his mouth, his tongue was instantly seduced.
He finished everything within 15 seconds.
"Wow." Muttered Maxi.
He looked towards his notebook. It must have some sort of ability that he couldn''t understand. Heck, he didn''t know that it had powers in the first place.
"I guess I can solve these tomorrow, for now though.."
It was probably already late. The cub was still sleeping, it probably sleeps a lot in its past time.
Still many unanswered questions, and very few answers.
For now, he pressed his back on the trunk of the tree, and started closing his eyes. He slowly drifted to sleep.
Tomorrow is gonna be a big day for Maxi.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________
Chapter End.
Author: I didn''t know how to describe tastes, so I had to rewrite some dialogues a bunch of times. Also, the story was a bit too slow, so I made up an excuse for Maxi to be very calm so it can progress quicker.
See if you can guess where I got the idea for the notebook''s powers. I''ll give you a hint, it''s a popular game.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter. Though I''m not satisfied about it.
Chapter 4: The Web Novelists Experiments
Author: I removed the part where the mechanical pen had an eraser in Chapter 1, I mistook mechanical as friction apparently. My bad. I also fixed some grammatical errors and missing words in that part.
Anyways enjoy.

"Noooo!"
The boy started running back to where he and the woman had been from, but was stopped before he could do so.
"No Maxi! We need to leave!"
"But my dad!"-
"You need to listen to me! Your dad is trying his best right now, he promised me to keep you safe! Are you gonna make him waste his efforts!? I want you to trust me, okay?"
Large tears began to flow down from the boy''s eyes. Though he was reluctant to, she was right. His father had stayed behind to buy time, enough for both of them to escape. It took a while to truly convince him to leave his only beloved parent, but fortunately, it wasn''t too late.
He hesitantly nodded while clenching his fists.
As they were nearing the exit, he looked back at where they came from.
With his vision blurry from his tears, he said in his mind...
''Promise me you''ll come back, just like how you promised her, please....''

"...."
Eyes, meet Sunshine. Sunshine, meet Eyes.
Maxi had woken up from his quite uncomfortable nap, the ground was hard, the grass was itchy, and it was cold. He had to find a better resting place, or else he''ll probably have back cramps.
He stretched for a bit before picking up his things and stood up.
He still wanted to experiment on the notebook''s abilities, such as if there were restrictions or the like. He knew that it was able to create objects out of nowhere, but what else can it do?
While thinking of such things, he glanced at the cub that had already woken up, small icy blues staring back. Was it waiting for him or something? When did the little guy woke up?
"Arf!" Barked the dog.
With a smile, he replied. "Good morning, or is it afternoon?"
The sun was up quite a bit, so it was probably morning, or so he guessed.
He yawned a bit before hearing grumbling noises, he saw that it came from the baby hound. It''s ears drooped as if to say that it was starving, it was about to get fish from the pond, but Maxi had a thought.
"Wait for a moment please" Said Maxi.
He had told the cub to wait, even when it wanted to gather food. The cub was a bit irritated as it was already hungry, but he told it that he was gonna get the food himself. This made the cub tilt it''s head in confusion, was he gonna get the fish?
Maxi tried to think of what to use the notebook for, so he came up with an idea to catch the fish and cook it.
He had opened his notebook and started writing, he wanted to experiment right now for a bit. First, he simply wrote the words "fishing pole" to see if it can create the object.
A flash of light had appeared in the ground in front of his eyes, the sight had made the cub back away, but was told by Maxi that it was nothing to worry about, so it began returning to its original position.
A few seconds later, in its place was a fishing pole.
"It worked!" Exclaimed Maxi. So it was able to create objects simply by writing their names, interesting.
He also noticed that the word "fishing pole" was still written in the page. Huh? Wasn''t it supposed to be erased like what happened last night? He''ll have to find figure it out later.
He picked up the fishing pole that was black in color, and had begun inspecting it. Yup, definitely real. Now he wrote in "fishing line" and "fishing hook". The flash of light appeared again, but in place was a fishing hook and and a long thread of fishing line. So it was able to create multiple objects at the same time, quite useful. The words were still written as well.
Next, he wrote "five worms", he wondered if adding numerals will affect anything, and was curious to see if it can create living things.
And what did you know, it worked. The process of its creation was repeated, and had made five worms.
He was amazed. It was simply worms, but he had now found out that it was possible to create something that was living.
Oh the possibilities....
Also, the words were actually gone. He guessed that it was due to the object created was a living thing, then what about the burger? Again, he''ll figure it out later.
Now regarding his ability in fishing, he wasn''t an expert, but he had a gained a bit of experience when his father took him camping. He had connected the line to the pole, and then tied the hook to the line.
He could have just wrote the three together and combined them so he didn''t have to do it manually, but for now, he wanted to do this. It brought up some great memories from back then, so it was fine to make it this way.
Next, he baited a worm (poor, poor worm) in the hook, and had simply started fishing in the pond.
He had used up all of his worms, but he was able to gather 2 fishes, one for him and the other to the cub.
He didn''t know if it would work, but he wanted to see if he can manipulate the location of where the object will be created. He thought that if he pictured in his mind the location, it would be placed there. He also thought if mixing multiple words together was valid. He wrote "campfire", and pictured that the object was placed in between the tree and the pond. The two were a good distance apart from each other, so it was fine.
The flash of light appeared again, but this time it was a bit bigger. To his surprise, the campfire was actually placed in between them, but it wasn''t in the exact same spot that he wanted it, he''ll need some work on that.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Same with the worms, the words written were gone.
The wood seemed to look like it just started burning, but the fire seemed big enough already.
As soon as it was made, Maxi made some skewers to help cook the fish to the fire. While all of this happened, the cub had watched everything, it was amazed to the point that he started wagging his tail in delight while barking happily.
"Arf Arf!"
When the fish had finally cooked, the two of them had started eating. To Maxi, it''s flavor was miles apart from the heavenly burger that he ate in delight, but was still glad that he was able to experiment on the notebook''s powers.
After eating, he decided that leaving now was a good time as any, but first....
He took the fishing pole, line, and hook, and piled them in one place.
He grabbed his notebook and his pen, and glanced at the words still written:
- fishing pole
- fishing line
- fishing hook
He wondered if he did it like this:
- fishing pole
- fishing line
- fishing hook
......
.......
Nothing happened.... yet.
The words that were crossed out had visibly turned transparent before disappearing completely.
"Wha-"
A slightly strong wind had suddenly formed around the area.
The wind grew stronger, and had circled the three objects. Maxi watched in awe as a black hole suddenly appeared above the items, sucking all of them almost instantly. It soon vanished as fast as it had appeared.
....
...
"..What the hell?" Said Maxi, still shocked about how the items were taken away.
He got the results he had expected, but he didn''t expect it to be that flashy, much less a black hole appearing.
Even the cub was amazed at the sight that had occurred. It probably didn''t see anything like this before.
He questioned the method of erasing objects, he was still dumbfounded.
It took a while, but the two had finally regained their senses, it was truly quite shocking.
"Huh...well, I guess I need to head out now."
"Arf!"
"What is it?"
He glanced at the cub, that reminds him, why hadn''t the cub headed out to leave yet? It had already woken up moments back, it should have been fine, with the glacier hounds'' naturally fast speed and keen senses, even a young pup can avoid great danger quite easily.
"Where are your friends? Your pack? Don''t you have one?"
*Whimper*
"Uh.."
It''s ears drooped down with it''s eyes staring at the ground, did something happen? It looked to be perfectly fine when they had first met. Yet it looked like...
He doesn''t know what happened, why it was back there in the forest, but it looked as if its expression showed signs of sadness.
Maxi softly patted it''s head, the eyes of the pup soon stared at the awkward smile the young man gave.
"You know what? Forget it, if it brought up something bad, then I won''t pry any further."
The cub had showed a face as if it understood, it nodded in understanding. Most monsters are generally smart, so to able to understand other species is nothing out of the ordinary. It can also be due to their understanding of body language.
"If you want to, you can come with me if you want."
The cub had been a bit surprised for a moment, before replying with a cheerful:
"Arf!"
They never noticed, but after a while, their relationship slowly, but steadily grew stronger. It seems that now they have finally became aware of it, and soon became friends.
"That also reminds me, If you want to come with me I have to give you a name. That way, we can understand each other better."
"Arf?"
It tilted its head in confusion, is it wondering what name he was going to pick?
He thought for a moment before finally opening his mouth.
"How about.... Snowflake."
It shook its head. What, it doesn''t like that name?
"Well then... how ''bout Snowcone?"
Nope, it seemed like hated that name more than the last one.
"Icicle?"
Nope again.
"Popsicle?"
Nope.
"Canada?"
Nope, it doesn''t even know what that means.
"Cooler?"
Yeah, nope.
"Friez-, wait no, I actually hate that name"
Yep, the dog is questioning Maxi''s poor naming suggestions.
''What to name it, hmm. I don''t even know its gender, so a gender neutral one maybe?''
"Then what about... Winter? That seems like a fitting name."
The cub''s ears perked up, it seemed to like that name."
"Arf!"
As if to show that it likes the name, it wagged its tail happily.
"Arf Arf!"
It leaped a considerably fast speed towards Maxi, who fell down on his bottom after receiving the impact, all the while his face being licked by the now happy puppy.
"Hahaha! Alright alright!"
After getting up, the two stared at each other for a while, until..
"Well, guess that means we''ll be stuck together for a while, Winter"
He reached his hand to gently rub the cub - now named Winter -''s head.
It gladly accepted it with glee.
"Arf!"
With this done, they finally head out.
Maxi and Winter. They will continue to bond and strengthen their friendship for a long while,
Until something of course... happens.

Chapter End.
I''ll consider Winter as gender neutral for now, so I''ll simply address them as "they".
I''m not gonna lie, I chose the name Winter because of a comment back in Chapter 1. So thanks for indirectly helping me good sir/madam. XD
Chapter 5: The Web Novelist Interacts With People... Er, Monsters.
*TSPGoF*
It had been at least 2 days ever since they had started travelling together, they were currently finding a town of sorts for them to sleep in, but that was mostly Maxi wanting to do so. There was one time when Winter was exhausted to the point of being unable to move, but that was because they had depleted their magic essence. Why? Because they were using it in order to keep their body temperatures cooler. Due to Glacier Hounds having a large amount of magic essence, they were able to use their abilities so that they can defend themselves against elements that they have a lower resistance to, but it only lasts for a while. If depleted, they would weaken and possibly die from heat strokes.
Luckily, Maxi was able to create mana potions to refill Winter''s magic essence. Though drinking potions may get them sick, it will only last for a few minutes, so they took short breaks every once in a while.
They had also encountered another..... well, another monster, a strange one at that..
Speaking of which...
"OH BOY! WITH YOU GUYS AROUND, I FEEL SO HAPPY! ARE YOU HAPPY!? I''M HAPPY! HAHAHA LOOK AT ME, I''M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!"
Even though it/he was quite lively, it/he was talking for non-stop for hours upon hours. It had irritated Maxi to no end.
"Will you shut up for once!?" Shouted Maxi.
"Arf Arf!" Even Winter seems to agree.
The monster, surprised by his loud voice, shivered in fear.
"HIIIII! O-OKAY SIR, I''LL SHUT UP! I-I''M SHUTTING UP RIGHT NOW! YOU CAN SEE IT RIGHT, R-RIGHT SIR!?"
*sigh* "Nevermind..." Said Maxi, already giving up for what seemed like the 4th time that he was trying to silence the loud creature.
Anyways, he had recalled that time when he met the monster along the road:
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Flashback:
They had found a dirt path not too long ago, so they had started walking from there without second thoughts, they didn''t want to end up wandering aimlessly without some sort of direction to follow, so they simply strode along that road.
It was all peaceful and quiet, until they encountered something unusual.
It was a bit short in stature, reaching only up to Maxi''s waist. Its green blob-like transparent body was jiggling with every movement. It had short, yet massive hands as well as two black dots that served as eyes.
"Another one, huh?" Thought Maxi.
It was another familiar creature to him, it had clicked within his mind its own name:
The monster was a Worker Type - [Handy Slime].
Though monsters are generally less intelligent than the main races that had established their own countries, some were smart enough to form tribes and create settlements, as well having the ability to talk. There were four types of these monsters:
Worker type,
Soldier type,
Common type,
and Unique type.
Worker types are monsters that have knowledge in creating tools and buildings. They can also gather food or items.
Soldier types are the main attackers or defensive units, specializing more in combat.
Common types do not have any sort of build, but they can evolve into either worker or soldier types depending on how they lived their lives, though they cannot evolve into Unique types.
Unique types are more of a rare sub-species, born with special abilities or talents, they can choose a wide array of classes, similar to the five races, and are geniuses on their specialized field of work.
When the slime had seen the both of them, it stared hard for a while, seemingly more so to Maxi, its dotty eyes widened in fright.
"AHHH! A HUMAN! HE''S GONNA KILL ME! ARE YOU GONNA KILL ME!? YOU''RE GONNA KILL ME RIGHT!?" Shouted the green blob with a scared pose.
"Err.."
Even when there was no mouth, it still spoke with a clear voice.
''This is definitely weird for me, even if I''m seeing this right now, no one else would believe this..'' Thought Maxi.
He had wanted to think that he was in another world, especially inside his story, but it was too sudden for him to say it. He didn''t really fit much with normal people, as he was very weird. Even though he accepts the fact that he doesn''t act or think much like a normal person would, it was still unreal right?
Also, why was this slime just running circles around them while shouting a high-pitched scream with its arms flailing in the sky?
Winter''s ears winced from the loud noise, they seemed to be annoyed by the monster.
This was too weird.... He didn''t even think that he made a character in the story like this one...
He tried calming it down, saying that he was friendly.
"Relax relax! I won''t hurt you! I''m not like the others.." Said Maxi to the frightened slime.
"AHHHHHH!! WAIT..... YOU WON''T KILL ME?" Questioned the slime, thought it was still shouting.
"Uh, yes..?"
"..........LIAR! YOU''RE GONNA KILL ME! YOU''RE GONNA KILL ME LIKE THE REST OF THEM!" Again, shouted the slime.
Maxi sighed. Well, he was right about one thing,
Even when these kinds of monsters are very sentient and can be considered "people", they are not exempted from being hunted down by adventurers and travellers alike.
Really, after seeing this, it made Maxi feel guilty for making them like this, even if it was for the story...
With a good amount of resolve, he tried his best to calm it again.
"Please, I''m not like one of them... In fact," He put off a smile, trying to look as friendly as possible. "I hate killing in general."
As an ordinary (not quite) person, it was a fact that he didn''t like killing. But if no other options seem viable enough, then he would have no choice in that matter and do it only if he thinks deems it is necessary.
The slime froze in thought, and stared at him.
"W-WHAT?" The slime said, confused in what he was going to say. Did it believe him? Or did it not think that someone from the main races would say something like that?
"Its true," Said Maxi. "I have no intention of hurting you or anyone of your friends, I wouldn''t want any of that to happen. Especially someone who seems friendly like you."
"Arf Arf!" Barked Winter who seemed to agree, though they were still angry about earlier.
"WOAH! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? THIS GUY!?" The slime said in surprise, though it was talking to Winter.
This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
Maxi was not surprised that it understood Winter, he made all monsters capable of understanding each other, no matter how different they would be.
"Arf!" Winter was happily wagging their tail, were they convincing the slime that he was nice somehow?
They continued barking, and at the same time doing...gestures?
"UN-UNBELIEVABLE..." Said the slime, who seemed to look at Maxi in a new light. Did Winter successfully managed to make the slime calm down?
The slime spoke up a bit. "UMM.. HEY..."
"Yeah?" Said Maxi.
"D-DID YOU REALLY HELPED THEM OUT W-WHEN THEY WERE S-STUCK IN A FOREST?" Questioned the slime.
''So that was what....'' Thought Maxi. Seemed like Winter gave it quite the explanation.
Monsters would also stay far away from the main races due to them being killed off by them all the time, but because of Maxi, Winter seemed to have befriended him. That was why the slime felt easily believed, because it saw the truthfulness that glinted in Winter''s eyes, the joy that it felt when it had someone to trust when it was all alone and lost.
"Yeah... I couldn''t leave them alone, they would have faced terrible things if I did, and I would feel bad for that." Said Maxi. He only said the truth, he was truly glad that he helped them out. Though he never thought of it at first when he met them, he felt genuinely proud of himself for doing what he did.
"Arf!" Winter barked, they felt happy for what he said.
"...."
The slime was stuck in thought, it seemed to be stressed out.
It finally spoke...
"H-HEY, I-IF YOU''RE REALLY SAYING THE T-TRUTH, THEN.... W-WOULD YOU H-HELP ME ON SOMETHING?" Asked the slime.
"Sure what is it?"
"I-I''M ACTUALLY LOST TOO"
"I see-wait what really?"
"Y-YEAH AND I WANT TO FIND MY WAY B-BACK HOME, YOU SEE.."
The slime explained, it seemed to have been out here gathering items, in fact, it was it/his first time going outside his village, as he had spent most of his life working inside, helping lots of his brethren. Due to his excitement, he seemed to have went off in another direction other than his companions, because that, they were found by other people, and were all slaughtered. Due to that, he seemed to have fled as fast as he can from the horrible scene.
"I-I FELT SO BAD ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED, I-I NEVER KNEW THEM WELL, BUT I KNEW THAT THEY MEANT ONLY GOOD THINGS FOR ME, T-THAT IS WHY I WANT TO GO BACK AND TELL THEM ALL THE T-TRUTH."
"That some group of people killed your companions?"
"Y-YEAH, AND T-THAT IT WAS M-MY FAULT THAT THEY DIED."
"..."
"ITS FINE YOU KNOW? I-I CAN FIND MY OWN WAY, S-SOMEHOW-"
"No." He interrupted the slime.
"W-WHAT?"
"No, as someone who hates violence, I can''t stand seeing other people die when I actually have a chance to save them... We''ll go help you."
"Arf!"
"B-BUT, WERE MONSTERS.."
"So?"
"HUH?"
"What if you are monsters? You have feelings right? Emotions? You''re all like any other person, and if other people are too blind, and disregard these things about you.."
Maxi balled up his fists and held it close to his chest.
"Then they aren''t people at all."
"......"
"We''re all friends here, that''s a promise."
Maxi held his fist out to the slime.
The slime, who was shaking his fists, was hesitating to answer.
"Also.."
".....W-WHAT?"
"Don''t say its your fault, we all make mistakes. Carry those feelings with you, and learn from them."
Maxi, who was still in place, was waiting for a response.
"I-I.."
The slime raised his hand,
"I WILL.... THANK YOU."
And connected them with Maxi''s.... It was a promise that he, both of them, will fulfill.
"Hehe... I also forgot..."
Both lowered their fists, as Maxi said a few words:
"My name''s Maxi, what''s yours?"
The slime responded:
"..I''M SEMIL."
Another bond had been made again.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Currently:
It had taken a while, but Semil the slime had finally opened up to both of them. It was kinda annoying, but they were glad that he was finally being himself, if this is how he really was.
"HEY HEY! DID YOU KNOW!? SLIMES ARE SUUPERR FLEXIBLE! THEY CAN STRETCH THEIR BODIES SUUPERR FAR! THOUGH- THEY SAY I''M NOT REALLY LIKE THAT...."
Sometimes, he would just be very hyper and jolly... Then after a few seconds his mood deflates suddenly and starts pouting for some reason, he is truly a weird slime.
But hey, Maxi and Winter were smiling at his crazy antics. It was good to have such an energetic company with them.
"Hey, Semil."
"HMM? YES SIR?"
Though he was being himself now, he called Maxi "Sir", he didn''t really feel exactly comfortable being called as such, but Semil insisted. He said that they WERE helping him after all. He was taught by older slimes to be give respect to kind monsters, or kind human for that matter, so he couldn''t really have it any other way.
"Can you keep it down, just a little bit?"
"YEAH!........ "
.
.
.
"IS THIS RIGHT??!!"
Though Maxi sighed again, this time, he was happy now.
No matter how abnormal the situation is right now, he couldn''t mope around and panic all day about everything.
Besides, he never got to enjoy much being at his apartment, so he wanted to indulge in the little things right now.
Wherever he was, he was glad the mood helped him a bit.
He just hopes that nothing bad would happen later...
