I look around and notice an eye? Staring at me a big eye!? The tentacles wrap around, hell no let me go I need to escape! I try to run but as you expect no luck there the tentacles wrap around me and I am carried away over to a big pond, where I see more eyes, little eyes this is one strange dream. The big eye places me into a pond and just floats away. I look around the smaller eyes play around in the water, this dream is weird since when do I have dreams like this!? I need to wake up and go to.... I look down and see my own reflection, well how should I explain this hmm I am an eye as well!? Wait calm down this is all a dream idiot, unless...no no no there is no was that possible if it was than if I imagine a status screen....it....should...pop....up. There really is a status screen!? Sigh" well I should be honest with myself I kinda like this, I mean I always dreamt about something like reincarnation into a fantasy world, but I always thought I would reincarnate into something like a demon or something like that, something cool. And I guess not everyone one is so lucky, I got stuck as an eye...Beholder I mean, I want to cry...can a Beholder''s even cry? The older Beholder''s let us outside after three whole days in the cave we were born in. When I first stepped outside or should I say when I first floated it was the first time I truly realized that I am not on earth anymore but a completely different world. The scenery before me was truly something out of a story, a forest with huge trees, strange creature roaming around, and I can swear I saw a fairy flying around. Anyway, something else happened when I first got outside actually the strangest thing of all but something that happens in reincarnation stories a lot. I got an introduction to this world, yeah crazy right? Anyway the introduction "Welcome to your new life in this world called Inova, I hope you will be happy because not many get a chance for a new life with their memories intact, as a present I granted you an ability of the mighty status! Be happy! Well, that''s all bye bye!" Signed god of Inova. Crazy right, and somehow that god pisses me off, I mean why the hell am I an eye...beholder? "Sigh" Guess I got to live with what I got, I can''t sulk around forever now can I, oh right I leveled up lets see. "Status" I speak in my mind and a floating screen shows up. When the other smaller beholders and I got thrown out of the cave I was lost at first, I had no idea what to do I just floated in place and watched the scenery before me. But I snapped out fast and decided to observe the others, the first thing after few hours of my observing I noticed that I was not hungry nor did the other beholders hunt. But then I saw one of the beholders floating towards a small pond, inside the pond were some strange looking creatures that looked a lot like frogs when I checked their name it said "Dragwenirud" yeah...I decided to call them frogs. Anyway, when I first noticed this I thought that beholders actually need food but the strange thing is when the young beholder got close enough it just strangled the frog with its tentacles. When the frog died a dim green light floated from its body, the beholder moved its tentacle and sucked the light and moved on. I remembered my status screen, there was "Souls Consumed" there. I tested that theory on my own prey I also hunted at the same pond and managed to strangle a frog, it felt weird. Anyway like the last time a dim green light rose from the frogs body, I moved one of my tentacles and it got sucked in. When I opened my status screen I checked the consumed souls tag and yeah I was right one consumed soul was added. I kept strangling the poor frogs till I gained level 2 but nothing then the increased stats was added I hoped for a skill, oh well guess ill keep on killing these poor frogs for now. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Five days passed and I should say I have level up pretty nicely also I decimated the frog population, forgive me frogs. "Status" I chant in my mind. Name: None Gender: Female Race: Beholder Level: 7 Souls Consumed: 35 Health: 120/120 Mana: 170/170 Skills: Lightning touch. It seems I level up on five souls consumed that actually really helpful. I also gained a skill, lightning touch, now I can coat my tentacles in lightning and shock, my enemies, tho I still didn''t get a chance to use it on a real opponent other than the frogs also it consumes 5 mana for each tentacle. The older beholders didn''t even come outside the cave to check up on us, but I was correct we beholders don''t need food or water, tho for some reason, they like to play in water often. The only thing a beholder needs is a soul to consume nothing more. I look around me but there isn''t any frog left near our cozy little cave, hmm should I go inside the forest? I don''t think its a great idea, but there just isn''t anything to hunt anymore. Enjoy Chapter 3: Evolution And Trouble Its been about an hour inside the forest and I have to say this world''s creatures are scary. When I ventured further into the forest away from my new home, the cave I was born in, at first I didn''t find any living being to kill and take the soul from. But it wasn''t long after that I encountered my first prey or should I say one tough son of a, uhmm anyway yeah I encountered the first being other than the frogs and other beholders. It was a rabbit, yeah a rabbit and not just any rabbit it was a size of a dog and it had four big long ears, oh and did I mention the giant claws on its paws. When I first spotted it I hid and observed closely, I looked at its name and to my surprise, it was a normal name, I think "Four-eared forest rabbit" oh and for the first time it showed a level it was level 5. The easy fight I thought, I am two level''s stronger I thought, easy fight my ass now I have a fear or freaking rabbits. I floated out of my hiding spot and approached it boldly from behind and tried to entangle it with my tentacles. But the rabbit noticed me a long time ago and I actually fell for its trap, the creatures of this world are not stupid that''s the another thing I learned from my experience. Anyway, the rabbit bounced at me with its claws and managed to take out a good amount of my health I was so surprised that at first, I didn''t even figure out what was going on. I looked at my health "Health: 56/120". The rabbits attack took out more than half of my health when I saw that I retreated backward. The rabbit resumed its attack again, it bounced at me like that last time with its claws. But I collected myself just in time to avoid its claw attack by floating up. The rabbit had such speed and strength that it couldn''t avoid the tree that was behind me when I floated up. One of its claws got stuck in a tree, I used that chance and coated my tentacles in lightning and fried the stupid rabbit. A gray light floated out of the rabbit''s body, its soul which I absorbed happily. "Health+10!" a floating message appeared before me, it scared the crap out of me I thought it was another one of those damned rabbits. Anyway, what does this mean? I looked at my stats and looked at the health tag. Oh, I see "Health: 66/120" seems that when I consume souls I also recover a portion of my health if it''s missing. That good to know really good. Well that was my experience with the scary rabbit, after that, I continued to hunt some more, I found other four-eared rabbits, and to my surprise they are stupid they all fall for the same trick with the tree, lucky me I guess. I hunted for almost six hours straight I may have found a way to kill those damned rabbits but still they are, though, I found another pond with the frogs so....well yeah they are easier to kill. And so I reached level 10 when I did another message popped out. "Congratulations!" "You have reached the required level for the evolution please choose from these three options, also the cost for the evolution will be 50 souls!" "Lesser Ice Beholder" "Check" "Lesser Poison Beholder" "Check" "Lesser Mind Beholder" "Check" Hmm, what should I chose there is an option check so I guess I can first get some insight into my evolution. "Lesser Ice Beholder evolved from a beholder hatchling, has the ability to control ice at its will, typically for northern areas of the world, does not like hot places caution recommended!" end of description, well I guess this one is a no, I am pretty sure I am nowhere near northern regions. Let''s see next is "Lesser Poison Beholder Check!" "Lesser Poison Beholder evolved from the beholder hatchling, it does not have many special abilities but its body is highly toxic a normal touch can kill a human within seconds found in swamp regions, also the poison can not be controlled as it is produced on the surface of the beholders body!" I am not sure if I like this one either I mean the poison is cool and all but it can''t be stopped so I am hoping the third one will be better. "Lesser Mind Beholder Check!" "Lesser Mind Beholder evolved from the beholder hatchling, the mind beholder is a rare breed of beholders that appears very little in the world, its body is weak and fragile unlike the others but the power it has at its disposal is vast, the mind beholder tempers with one''s mind, turning controlled puppet and making it fight its own kind, or simply confusing and clouding its mind, there are many possibilities for a mind beholder!" well this mind beholders sure looks interesting, the part about being fragile doesn''t sound to well, but I like this one better that the first two. Okay, I decided I chose lesser mind beholder evolution! "Lesser Mind Beholder selected!" A strong light surrounds me and blinds me, after a while the light disappears, hmm I don''t feel any different. "Congratulations you have evolved into a lesser mind beholder, 50 souls were consumed for the evolution, from now on in order to level up you will need 10souls for 1 level good luck!" and the message ends, what does it mean level up again I am level 10. I open the stats window. Name: None Gender: Female Race: Lesser Mind Beholder Level: 1 Souls Consumed: 0 Health: 180/180 Mana: 300/300 Skills: Lightning touch, mind confuse. Well this sucks, I am back at level one and all my souls are gone "sigh" but I am stronger now and I gained a new skill, guess that counts for something. While I stare at my stats I hear loud voices, human voices coming from the direction of the cave I was born in.
