《Library Magic》 Chapter one : God - First meeting Chapter 1: God - First meeting "Welcome to heaven! "This is what I heard within my faint consciousness. Although I could hear it as clear as a day and think about its implications clearly, I cannot see who is talking nor pinpoint where the sound is coming from. As I contemplate about it, I am experiencing an unimaginable pain throughout my whole body, like I''ve been crushed into a pulp. "Ara? Did I forget to take away your sense of pain? Sorry about that, nufufufu. Though, I didn''t take your memories, so you should remember what happened to you before you got here?" Said he/she, while the pain mysteriously goes away. As I was recalling what happened, his/her voice interrupted my thoughts. "A truck crushed you."Yes, as cliche as it might sound, it was indeed what happened that morning. An hour earlier¡ "You can never visit the same place twice. Each time, it¡¯s a different story. By the very act of coming back, you wipe out what came before." -The Last Little Blue Envelope by Maureen Johnson. "Hmmmmm. So if I go back to studying in school again the same thing that happened will not happen again? Ridiculous, it will happen again and again, even if I go back there a hundred times."I mused to myself, while reading a book in one of the many bookstores I frequented since my childhood. It was an open air book store, and the old man that owns the store always let me read books for free, in exchange for guarding the store for an hour, while he gets his daughter from middle school. The old man is such a good parent, even if his daughter said it''s ok not to pick her up every day, because of his work, he always finds a way to do it anyway. A stupid but respectable father. I mean, what would he do if I take some books from the store and run away? As I was thinking that a sound came from in front of the store. *HONK!!!!* "What the -"I started to exclaim, but was cut short because of what was happening was too fast to react to. *CRASHHH* Back to the present time¡ I died huh? I wonder what will the old man do when he gets back. I wonder if he has insurance? I hope my body is burned fully in the explosion. It will be a hassle for my father and my stepmother and stepsister will probably have faces of disgust,if they saw my squashed body. Therefore, I hope not trace of me could be seen. "Nufufufu. You really are interesting. You just died and what you care about is your corpse and what they will think of it." I don''t really care what they think of it. I just don''t feel comfortable having those trash looking at my dead body. Such is my train of thoughts. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. "Oh! Is that so? To call your family trash is harsh, you know? And aren''t you surprised that I can read your mind?" He/She inquired. Whatever I call those trash is none of your business. And aren''t you late on asking that question? Anyway, I am not surprised, because I knew from what you said at the beginning that you are ¡God ########## (3rd person POV) "Nnnhhn." A light groan came out from an girl who was recently unconscious. She was trying her best to open her eyes but found it hard to do so. But after a while of effort she finally opened her eyes, though with great difficulty. When she opened her eyes, what greeted her was a place painted full white. There''s nothing else on this place except for her. The place looks seemingly boundless with the exception of the ground that she is standing at, although it might be just an optical illusion that a fully white painted place creates. Nonetheless being here in this kind of place makes a normal person uncomfortable to a degree that your stomach will hurt, just the feeling of looking at the seemingly boundless place makes you nauseated. The girl seems to be not immune to this as she was pale with cold sweat dripping on her cheeks. "Hmmm? It seems that you are already awake my dear child, did you have a pleasant sleep? Although, with the way you were lightly screaming in your sleep earlier you seemed to have an unpleasant nightmare." A voice that came out of nowhere resounded to her ears, it was a voice of a woman that was not loud but clear and was soft with a trace of worry. Though, because she suddenly awoke in this unknown place and with a voice she clearly doesn''t recognize at all suddenly coming out of nowhere with the origin of the voice cannot be seen in plain sight, combine it all and you will get a badly startled girl who is on the verge of panic. "What happened, why do you look so pale? Calm down my dear child, I don''t mean you any harm." As she spoke those words, she suddenly appeared in front of the frightened girl. The woman''s appearance was extremely beautiful with her golden blonde hair and green eyes that contained kindness within, she was taller than the average women and her chest was bigger than most women too, her white dress was clearly enhancing her figure to the point that the only ''Goddess'' was the only compliment worthy of such figure. Of course none of this things matter as the only other person in the place has fainted because of her sudden appearance in front of her. She was already badly startled combine it with a person suddenly coming out of nowhere, no matter what the woman''s appearance was, it was inevitable that the girl has fainted. End of Chapter One Chapter two: Isaiah Chapter 2: Isaiah "Nufufufu. Aren''t you the smart one. Yes and no, is the answer to that question. As for what that means, it will be for you to find out in the future." A playful god huh? Well, it''s not like I hate those kind of people. In fact, no matter how many times I am asked, I prefer them over stupid, ignorant and trashy people. And in the future, huh? Don''t tell me you are going to summon me to another world for your own entertainment, like in those clich¨¦ novels that I like to read? "Oh my! You''re always one step ahead of me huh? Nufufufu. Yes, it is as you predict, but not exactly, you''ll be reincarnated not summoned." Reincarnated, huh? Interesting, I do prefer it to be like that instead of being summoned. And I guess I was right about something. "Oh? And what''s that?" That you killed me. "¡" Are you wondering how I knew? It is simple! The way you talk, it is like you have been watching me all the time. Secondly, the way you nonchalantly agreed that this is for your own entertainment. And lastly, how the hell is a truck without a driver honking? "Nufufufufufu. You got me there. I was just having fun my own way, by killing you. But that''s not the end of it. I killed you to have my favorite toy have a change of field. Don''t tell me you''ll hate me because of that?" Not really. Rather, I''m glad that you got me out of that hell. I''m really thankful for that. Well, let''s change the topic. I''m guessing that the world you''re gonna send me is different from Earth and you''re gonna give me an ability to excel in that world, am I right? "Nufufu. You are welcome. You are right again in your assumption. The world I am going to reincarnate you into is called Isaiah. It is a world with underdeveloped technology, but with magic! There are other races too, besides Humans, like the Elves, Avians, Beastmans, Demons and many more varieties. And about the power I''m going to give, you will decide 3 kinds of power that you want, and I will put limitations, restrictions and a little bit of modifications on them." ¡ Alright then. The first power I would like to have is, access to all the books on Earth and Isaiah. The second is to have the power to change into other races. The last one will be, immunity to all the magic that mess with the mind. "Nufufufu. I expected the first one, but not the other two. Whydidn''t you say immunity to all magic, hmmm ?" It''s not like you''re gonna approve of that. And where is the fun in that? "Very well. You will know what kind of limitations I placed on your powers when you try them yourself. Are you sure you don''t want any offensive type of powers" Yeah, I''m sure. I''ll be weak if I depend on those kind of powers, which I didn''t earn myself. Besides, whatever powers you give, will be too showy anyway. "Nufufufu. Alright then. Are you ready for your departure to the world of Isaiah?" Not like I have a choice. But one more thing. "???" We are playing a game, correct? If so, allow me to state the endgame. It will be either me dead or with you dead by my hands, that kind of game. Are the terms agreeable? "¡Nufufufufu. You really are interesting. Do you think a God could be killed? But fine my toy, I accept your terms. I wish you an entertaining life. I hope you find your way back here again, before your death. Now entertain me, my favorite toy." Like an exploding star, a sudden burst of light encompassed my whole consciousness.¡¡¡ .... "Interesting..." A voice that wasn''t heard by anyone came out of nowhere, clearly, the word he muttered was because of the earlier spectacle between a God and a human that was witnessed. ############# (3rd person POV) "Nnnhhn." For a second time in 2 hours, the girl who has fainted earlier had once again lightly groaned a sign that she was about to awaken once again. Unlike earlier, she didn''t find it too difficult to open her eyes. She opened her eyes with a bit of effort, like a person who sleeps at 11 PM only to wake up at 5 AM because of school. (A/N: Totally not me complaining here~) Unlike the earlier scenery, which was a place fully painted white, she was now in a bed in a garden full of different variety of flowers most kinds are what you won''t see on Earth as they don''t exist there. If you look up you would see birds of different kinds flying in the blue sky and the yellow sun. While she was admiring the paradise like scenery, she stopped her gaze on the left side of her bed. There was an extremely beautiful woman with a white dress sitting there on a chair that was completely made up of vines and flowers making it a very elegant chair for her. She was sitting there while looking at her with a really friendly smile on her face. ''...Creepy.'' Was the first thought that the girl had in her mind. The woman who was sitting in the flower chair and was still smiling suddenly twitched for some reason. This small detail didn''t escape the eyes of the deeply contemplating girl. ''She looks familiar...'' She was thinking. Although she thought that the woman was very creepy, for some reason she thought that she had already seen this woman before. She has completely forgotten what happened earlier before she fainted. The currently occurring scene is a very beautiful woman sitting in a flower chair smiling and staring at the eyes of the sitting in the bed black haired girl who is beautiful in her own rights but pale in comparison with the beautiful blonde haired woman. The girl was staring at the woman too, though, with a blank look like she was contemplating on something. Along with the beautiful scenery in a flowery garden. In a 3rd persons perspective... Yup, it definitely has that Yuri vibe. "*Cough* *Cough* Hello there my dear child, are you feeling alright now? Seeing that the girl was staring at her blankly for 5 minutes, the woman who was smiling for more than 5 minutes and was now having a cramp on her cheeks, decided that she will initiate the start of a conversation. "..." The girl didn''t reply to the kind and simple question that the woman asked. She still looked at the woman with a blank look. ''Was my summoning to her soul here caused some kind of damage to her mental state? Oh no, then did I possibly do something bad to this child''s soul?'' Sweat was starting to form in her forehead after seeing that her attempt to start the conversation has miserably failed, she started to think if the girl''s soul has been mentally damaged. But if that was the case, then the only fault can only be hers alone because she was the one who summoned the girl. The sweat that formed in her forehead turned cold. Her countenance turn miserable by the thought that she has done something bad to this child. But a sudden thought occurred to her, the earlier remark when she read her mind for the first time, on the girl''s first sighting of her. ''If she really has mental damage, then wouldn''t that kind of witty remark be impossible for her?'' Looking at the girl who was gazing at her, she tried to read her mind again. When she peeked into her mind once again, what the woman has gotten was random words that has nothing to do with the current situation, there were some gibberish in her thinking as well. She strangely look at the girl in front of her, did she really had mental damage on her soul? "You read my mind, haven''t you?" The girl asked curiously. The woman was shocked by the question of the girl she thought to be mentally damaged. The woman tried to read the girl''s mind again and was flabbergasted by the image she got. The girl was imagining of a certain person who was close to her heart, it was a man with black hair with black glasses, the guy''s appearance was handsome though it was being ignored by the goddess because of him being naked, she immediately stopped reading her mind. Because the woman was surprised by the sudden picture of an unknown guy naked, her face started to turn red. The girl wasn''t in better condition, she too was beet red because of the realistic image she imagined of the guy she liked, even though she haven''t seen him naked yet. "As I thought, you can really read my mind and see through my thoughts... I would be grateful if you forget about the image you just saw... no, please completely ERASE it from you mind." The girl smugly proclaim, though, not long after that she turn beet red again because of the thought on how she confirmed it. She feebly requested for the woman to forget what she saw but quickly change it to a cold and commanding tone that doesn''t take no for an answer. ''Does this girl really really have mental damage?'' The woman asked to herself, because of how the girl quickly changes her personality from shy and quiet to noisy and cold. After the girl stopped talking, the scene reverts again to both the contemplating girl and the awkwardly smiling woman quietly staring at each other, although with the difference of an awkward atmosphere. The scene proceeds like this for another 5 minutes with the woman once again the one breaking the silence. She explains to the girl, her current circumstance and about the woman being a Goddess of this world. "... So I died... And I won''t get to see him anymore..." The girl look down on her bed sheets, with her hair hanging over because of the girl facing down the Goddess can''t see the girl''s face. Moments later a faintly audible sounds of sobbing and the trickling of tears in the bed sheets, indicates that the girl was crying. The Goddess finds it hard to see the girl like this, hardly anyone would, but the Goddess still chose to look and stay by the side of this girl who has her heart broken by the thought the she will never see her beloved. All girls are like this, unlike a man who chooses to be alone when they cry for they don''t want their vulnerable state to be seen, girls seeks a persons company when they cry because they want to know that they aren''t alone and there will be a person that''ll stay by their side in their vulnerable times. That''s why some people say that the easiest way to win a girls heart is to be there when they are crying and vulnerable to lend an ear to their problems and a shoulder to cry on. Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. She cried for about an hour, though, the only reason that she stopped crying was because she can''t cry anymore as her tear sacs are already dry for crying excessively. The bed sheets was completely soaked by her tears. The Goddess who looks at this girl can only feel pity in her heart. Especially knowing the circumstances of her death. She concluded that a part of her tears are filled with the girl blaming herself on why she died, but from the viewpoint of the Goddess, she shouldn''t blame herself for that because she was just acting on her own emotions, a trait that she was human. "Thank you for being there while I was crying, just feeling that there was someone here with me makes me feel better... I promised him that I will never cry again as long as I live, but this shouldn''t count right? Still, I''m gonna renew that promise again, I will never cry as long as I live." "It''s okay to cry dear child, it only means that you have emotions and your love for him is true. It would have been more devastating if you found yourself unable to cry to the thought of never seeing your beloved..." By that part, the Goddess cursed herself for unintentionally rubbing salt into her wounds. Sure enough, when the Goddess spoke the words that she is trying to lock away in her memories, her eyes reddened but no tears came out as they already have been dried up. "... So what do you need me for? You summoning my soul here when I died means that you have a purpose for me being here. By the way you explained to me this world called ''Isaiah'' means that my purpose here is somehow connected to this world, I assume?" The girl forcefully changed the subject, as she would''ve cry again if not for her tears being dried up. "I understand. I''ll summarize all the details and get to the point on why I summoned you here. Currently in this era, the Elves and the Dwarves are currently on war with the intent of fully exterminating the opposing race, although Elves and Dwarves are normally on disagreement with each other which could lead to battles and small scale wars, but this time is different. The Dwarf God has done something to ignite this current large scale war and not only that, the Dwarf God killed the soul of the strongest warrior of the Elves to tip the scale of the war towards the Dwarves. With the strongest warrior of the Elves gone the Dwarves is slowly having advantage and in no time will lead to the Elves extinction. The only reason that the Elves are holding is because of the High Elf Empress fighting in the front lines, though it''s only a matter of time till she is overwhelmed by numbers or when the Dwarf King makes his move against her. The mission that I have for you is to replace the soul of the strongest warrior of the Elves, Nasche, and fight for my beloved race that I, the Goddess of the Elves Mari-Ne, preside." "... This is a heavy responsibility that you''re giving me, a teenager who hasn''t even finished high school, do you think that I can even accomplish it? Assuming that I can, why would I even do it? Except for having a new life, I don''t see any merits for me on this mission you gave me." " I do not know if you can accomplish this or not, but I''m willing to put my trust on the person I summoned from another world, along with 3 gifts I will bestow to help you. As for the lack of merits, for the next time we meet, I will grant you any wish that you want to the best of my abilities as a Goddess." The Goddess said this with a serious look on her different from the always smiling face she has earlier, while the girl looks at her eyes too see whether she was lying or not. "Then, if I finish the task, can you take me back to my world?" This was the question that was always on her mind after she finished crying and cleared her mind earlier. ''If she can summon me here, then she can transfer me back on Earth, right?'' The Goddess who can read the girl''s mind and thoughts shook her head in such a thought. "If you were summoned normally, with body, mind and soul intact, then as long as you stay alive then I can transfer you back in the same state. But for you, who I only summoned the soul, even if I transfer you back in Earth, you would only perish instantly for not having any body to reside in. Even if you posses the body of Nasche, with the rules of the Gods that say ''You cannot transfer an inhabitant of your own world to other worlds, without the permission of that world''s God'' even I cannot do anything. The God of your world is eccentric, he doesn''t meet other Gods to the point you''ll even doubt his existence. I''m sorry my child, but with your current state, I can''t take you back to your own world." The Goddess spoke fluently with a serious tone, though there was a hint of pity in her voice. Though, unlike what people will think that the girl will be dismayed with such words it was the opposite of what she was currently feeling right now. She was currently filled with hope. ''By the way the Goddess said it, it seems that there is no hope, but there''s a loophole on the words that she had said. She can''t send me back to my own world without a body or with a body that came from Isaiah... Then doesn''t that mean if I take the body of another person who came from my world, I can go back to Earth?'' "..." The Goddess who can read the girl''s mind just stayed quiet, neither confirming nor denying it. Because of her personality as being the Merciful Goddess she can''t deny such request that is filled with her hope, if she does, it might truly break this black haired girl, also another reason that she can''t deny it is because with the power of the Goddess, she can completely do it without a problem. But she cannot recommend such thing as well, as this would require for the girl to kill and steal the body of a human who came from the same world as her. Although the Goddess doesn''t disdain killing, she would naturally not be pleased with the thought of this girl doing such an ugly thing to fulfill her desire to see her beloved. But the Goddess knows that she doesn''t have the right to have any say in her decision, as the Goddess was the one who forcefully summon the girl''s soul here without any consent from her. "You''ve read my mind didn''t you? Yet you aren''t denying it, that means it''s possible... I can return to my world... And see him again..." The girl was filled with hope and was only thinking of the future... The future when she meets him again. The Goddess was only silent with both of her eyes closed. "Are sure about your decision Misono Asuka? The war that you will participate is no joking matter, you might see people dying not just in the hundreds or the thousands it would be in millions. You might also feel betrayals and many things. Of course death is possible too, though with the strong body you will get, you''ll be tortured by an unimaginable pain before you even die. I''m asking again, will you help me save my race, that is the Elves, from this war that will likely exterminate the race in Isaiah?" Faced with such question. The girl paused for a moment, then she took a deep breath. Then with resolution in her eyes, she looked straight at the Goddess. "I am not doing this because you requested this from me, nor is it because I want to save the Elves from their extinction. I''m only doing this because... I want to go back to my world... To go back to him..." "I understand, the preparations for the soul transference is complete, just step in the magic circle and you''ll be sent into the body of Nasche with the complete memory of her 667 years of living, so it should be easy for you to live there normally and without suspicion." "...Alright, I would like to ask a question before I go. When I finish the task of saving the race of Elves from extinction, will you summon a person from my world for me to take that person''s body?" "Do you know the reason why I summoned you? Although you saving my race is mostly the reason, but with a little thinking if I want to solely save my race then shouldn''t I kill a person with similar importance as Nasche in the Dwarves race to even out the war? That was what the other Gods recommended when they found out that the Dwarf God meddled in the war. But I rejected such thoughts, as I knew killing would be the wrong choice for my morals and also for the sake of the future. You ask if I will summon a person, who I know will be killed because you need that person''s body to fulfill your desire?" "...I see. Then I would have to find one myself." As the girl muttered those words, she stepped in the magic circle. Light envelopes her body until it naturally fades away. "The world you came from, the one that is called Earth, a place were bodies of human can''t absorb mana. A human who can''t absorb mana means that their bodies doesn''t have mana veins, a human whose body can''t take mana cannot live in Isaiah. Although few, there are humans there that have mana veins when they are born which means they can absorb mana, with this it is possible with a human like that to live in Isaiah. Of course Gods can naturally bestow a magical vein to a normal summoned human, but that human won''t be able to go back to their own world because the God would naturally change the bodies structure, making it not the same as the body that came from Earth. With this the only chances for you to go back to Earth would be for a natural born human with mana veins to be summoned here. But the chances of a human like that to be born in your Earth is a 1 in a 100 million chance, there is also the condition to be picked by a God or be randomly be picked by a summoning spell, the chances drop drastically, there''s also the condition that you find a summoned person in a place where it is 20 times the size of your Earth. With this odds, will you be able to go back to Earth, while your beloved is still alive? Fortunately time is on your side, the ratio of time on Earth and Isaiah is 1:20, 1 year on Earth means 20 years in Isaiah. You have a long journey my dear child, I don''t know if I should cheer you on your goal or not, I just wish that you find happiness in Isaiah with this second life of yours, although you have never wanted to begin with." The Goddess let out all this words that she kept in her heart because of fear of breaking her hopes, although it won''t ever be received by the intended recipient. Chapter two Chapter three: Rebirth Ugh. My head feels like it''s gonna melt. Such thoughts cross my mind, but there is a slimy feeling that I am currently experiencing. Though I said slimy, it is not the least bit uncomfortable. Rather, it is warm like I''m being embraced lovingly and being protected from every kind of dangers that the world has to offer. However, my reverie is cut short due to the sudden feeling of being pulled apart from my haven. Yet I don''t feel like I am in any danger at all, even though I do not know what is happening. Because, I have a feeling that it is very natural, like it is supposed to happen eventually. I''ll just welcome what is happening. Such are my thoughts, but there is this sudden urge to cry. I tried to hold it in but failed to do so. ¡ ¡ ¡ "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" "Oh my! It''s a healthy young boy! And his hair, like that of the blackest night, just like the God of War, Sinoh!" "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" A woman wearing maid clothes noted. Looks like she was the one who help me get out of my mother''s womb. She gently placed me in my mother''s arm, who looks like she''s been in a wrestling match because of her dishevelled hair and sweaty body. "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" "Such a handsome little boy. Look at your healthy little child, Sirius. Doesn''t he look like he will have a bright future?" My mother said to the person who entered through the door. This person should be my father. He is handsome, well built and has a long blonde hair, that could be mistaken for a girl''s, if viewed from the back. Though currently, he looks like he fought a war of attrition, his face, a mixture of nervousness and anxiety. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. "Is he alright Rena? Why is he crying so much? Maybe something is wrong with him. Go! Quickly inform the Healers from the church to pay a visit here at the Blacklion household!" While looking like he is going to die from a nervous breakdown, my father ordered. "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" "Sssshhh. Your yelling isn''t exactly helping either. Just calm down, it is normal for a baby to cry this much after he is born." "B-but look, he is all red. Maybe he is in pain!" "Sir Sirius, if I may opine, I think it is because of the blood from Lady Rena that he is currently red all over." "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" "She is right, Sirius. Calm down and think of a name for our son." Without further words to refute, my father calmed down a little. "Alright, I have calmed down. As for the name, we will name him Yuki. It is the name of the stranger who sacrificed himself to rescue you and our son from death''s door. This is the only repayment I can give him, may he rest in peace. Our son will be named Yuki, Yuki Blacklion!" "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" Honestly, I''m quite surprised at this outcome. This might be late, but my name from Earth is Yuki too. Kokuyo Yuki, Age 18, Male. And thus my life in the world of Isaiah began. End of Chapter 3 Chapter four: Growing up - Part 1 As is expected of me, I will summarize my childhood in this short but long story as nothing noteworthy happened in this period. Year 1 My first year in Isaiah is relaxed and quiet. I could already remember all the places in the mansion as well as the names of every maid and butler that works in the mansion. The maid who helped my mother, Rena, during her labor is Martha. Also, Raul, the butler. His job consists mostly of attending my father''s needs, like sending a message, receiving visitors and being a combat assistant to my father. Both of them are middle-aged, and they ostensibly have a good relationship with each other. Both of them must live a good and honest life as I cannot see the mask dishonesty on their faces. Oh, and if you are wondering why I just said that, it is because I have a talent for seeing through people''s true nature by their facial expressions, gestures and through their eyes. It is one of the reasons I left school at an early age. "Oh! If it isn''t this the cute young master?" There is one more person who visits the mansion at least thrice a week. A girl with violet hair and eyes. A body as fragile as snow, but present herself with a firm posture like steel. Her name is¡ "Meria Zenith-sama of the 13th Devil family, our lord, Sirius-sama, awaits you upstairs. Please, follow me." This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it Raul slightly bowed to the girl and indicated her to follow him. She is a Devil, which is the higher form of Demons. They look exactly like humans with almost nothing to indicate otherwise. Except when they release magic essence, their whole body will glow with the same color of their hair and their mana is increased by almost 3 folds. However, their physical body is weakened by half. The reason for her visits remain a mystery. It may have to do with our family which is the Blacklion family, of the human kingdom. It is one of the strongest family in the human kingdom, the others are the Redtiger family, the Bluehawk family, and the Greendragon family. Each one has their own specialties. Our family, the Blacklion family, specializes in the Dark elemental type and Speed Enhancement. The Blacklion Family focus on disrupting the enemies movements while striking them in their blind spots unnoticed. "Goodbye Yuki-chan, we''ll play another time. Now, lead the way." She said goodbye to me, who is being carried by Martha, before following after Raul. I wonder what she is doing, here, in the Human kingdom. I ruminated on the thought, before falling asleep. End of Chapter 4 Chapter Five: Growing Up - Part 2 Four years have passed. I''m almost 5 years old, the age at which magic practice can be started. The reason being it''s dangerous to practice magic as an infant and not because it cannot be done. I heard some gossips from my mom and the maids, that a person tried to circulate mana inside the body of their child and the child exploded... Well, can''t have that can we? Such are my thoughts on the matter. It''s finally time for my fifth birthday. My father gave me a magic stone necklace for my birthday, it improves the absorption of mana from the surrounding. My mom gave me fancy looking clothes, while Meria-san gave me a Storage ring, it can store small items inside it in limited quantities. The stored items could be as big as a sword and as many as 50 of it. It''s pretty useful in many ways. Now it''s time to test my magic. Father said that you need to will the power of mana around you and inside of you to combine and create the desired magic you need. I tried to think of summoning a book, but no matter how many times I did it, I always fail. I also tried the Dark attribute spell of our family ¡¾Black Ball¡¿, which throws a sphere of black smoke towards the enemies to momentarily take away their eyesight. I imagined a ball of black smoke gathering in my hands and it worked! There is now a ¡¾Black Ball¡¿ in my hands. I throw it at a nearby tree, and the whole tree got completely shrouded with black colored mist-like smoke. Now to think of a way to activate my magic. Now that I think about it, that God said ''POWER'' and not ''MAGIC'', so maybe I should forego mana usage and instead just focus on summoning a book. I closed my eyes, held out my right hand and thought about summoning a book, but again nothing appears. I opened my eyes and what I see isn''t my backyard, but a dark room with a candle in a candle holder on the table beside me as it''s only light source. It''s a scene where you would think that there is something in the room besides you, in short a creepy goosebumps inducing scene. There are other things placed on the table too, such as, a big sealed book, a bookmark, an hourglass, a small golden bell and a pair glasses. That God must be playing some sort of prank on me. I need to explore the room manually because I can''t see very far into the room with the limited light source. I tried to grab the candle holder, but my vision suddenly blacked out. What I see around me when my vision is restored, is not the room I was in previously but scenery of my backyard. And by the looks of the falling leaves, it seems that the power stops time significantly when I activate it or at the very least it slows down time, as I remember the leaves in a similar position before I closed my eyes. But, why did I return here? Suddenly I feel light headed for some reason. Ah, my mana must have depleted. That must be the reason. And when I think hard about that power, a certain word surfaces in my mind, ¡¾Library Magic¡¿. Looks like I only need to think about it for the power to activate. But first, I need to train my overall mana capacity, because it seems like the mana it consumes is only from my body, unlike magic, that consumes both the mana of the body as well as the mana of the world. It looks like it will be a while before I could utilize it. "Well, no need to think about that. It is almost time for lunch!" I wiped the sweat off my face when suddenly I hit "that". Now that I think about it, why am I suddenly wearing glasses? I take it off and it is exactly same as the ones in the library. I don''t remember wearing it, though? Oh well, I guess it''s a bonus for me since I didn''t know whether I could take it out of that dimension or not. My head is full of such thoughts as I went back to the house to eat lunch with my family. End of chapter 5 Side story 1: Rena and The War God Sinoh (Rena POV) "Nhuuuu¡ hyaaahaaa" "Just breathe in and breathe out, Lady Rena. Calm yourself and keep pushing, the baby is almost out!" The head maid Martha reminded me again. Seriously, that''s what I have been doing for the past 18 hours or so. It has already been that long since the labor had begun. Martha, who had prior experience as a midwife, said that it is really uncommon for the labor to be that long. Of course it''s unnatural, if not for the extremely high mana capacity of my Devil bloodline, I would have died by now without even having given birth. I''m really starting to worry whether my child is alright or not. "Hiiiiiiiii¡haaaahaaaaa¡nhuuuuu" "Lady Rena, keep pushing! I can already see the head, just a few more pushes!" "Nhuaaaaa¡Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa!" "Uwaaaaah! Uwaaaaah!" The sound of crying¡ I''ve never felt so happy in my whole life hearing a child cry. As the crying of a healthy child continued, the anxiety that was deep within my heart because my race and my husband''s race are different, the thought that there might be complications with the child or the possibility of the child''s and my death, finally vanished without a trace. Happiness is the only emotion I am feeling right now. A happiness so pure and overwhelming that I''m starting to smile like an idiot. "Uwaaah! Uwaaah!" "Oh my! It''s a healthy young boy! And he has a hair like the blackest night, the same as the God of War, Sinoh!" That was Martha''s impression of the child. The Human''s God Sinoh, also known as the God of War. The ancient records say that Sinoh was an ordinary human with unique black hair, who appeared in the era when the Beastmen ruled the Human country of Rolen. The humans were enslaved by the Beastmen and were being fed to a mysterious being, who ruled the Beastmen of that time with an iron fist. Sinoh''s family were devoured by this being, and he was forced to watch it happen right in front of him. After that, the unknown being didn''t even devour him. Instead, he locked him in a dungeon, forced to live with the grief of losing his family, as the unknown being enjoyed such despair. Sinoh wailed like a madman in that dungeon for 3 straight days; he was bound in chains with a gag in his mouth, not even allowed to kill himself. At some point, a hooded person came in front of his cell and asked him. "Do you want revenge? I can give you the power to exact revenge. In exchange, you will unify the human race under your rule and ally with my Demon race."That person was the God of Demons, Death God Zenith. Sinoh accepted the deal and, together, they confronted the unknown being and fought to the death with it, managing to win by only a small margin. The Beastmen, Humans and Demons had millions of casualties as well, such that the time became known as ''The death era''. Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. After that, as promised, Sinoh united all of the humans and fought against the other races that wanted to take advantage of the Humans with the help of their allied country, the Demon country Zariel. He was titled War God Sinoh after that, as he was ruthless when it came to war and always led at the very front in every battlefield. This created the myth that every human with black hair has the will of the God of War and they will become a very strong and accomplished warrior. As I was thinking about such things, my husband came in from outside of the room and you could see his anxiety from his face. I told him to calm down and name our son. What he named our son is the name of the one who healed me when I was dying from an unknown sickness while I was 6 months pregnant. I washealed, but unfortunately, it came at the expense of his own life. Before he died, we asked what his name was, and he said the words ''Kokuyo Yuki''. It was a strange name, or at least, we think it was his name, maybe it was some sort of unknown language. But, nonetheless, those were the words that he left us with. "Yuki, huh? Why not Kokuyo? Isn''t it better if we use his first name and not the household family?" "No. I think it isn''t his name at all. I''ve searched all the nobilities'' last names for the Yuki household, but had no luck. Besides doesn''t Yuki Blacklion sound better than Kokuyo Blacklion?" Haaaa. I should''ve known it was that kind of reasoning behind his choice of name. Yuki Blacklion¡ Well, it does sound pleasing to the ear. Yuki Blacklion, my son, what will be your fate from now on?Whatever it is, I, as your mother, will help you to the best of my ability. End of chapter 6 Authors Note: I don''t know the sounds of labor, so sorry if that sounds weird. Please give a review, it will help me fix the mistakes I made in the story. Thanks for reading~ Chapter six: Growing up - Part 3 Year 7 Today was the day I was taught how to wield weapons. It seems this world has another type of magic, well, it is questionable if it''s actually [Magic], as it has the same mechanics as my [Powers]. It only absorbs mana inside the body. Let''s get back on topic. Weapon magic, as the name implies; it is magic that imbues mana onto the weapon. It also imbues mana on what kind of attack you make; such an attack is called a [Technique], an example is my father''s¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿.It is an original [Technique] that my father developed and is teaching to me currently.¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿is a move that emits sound from whatever you are currently wielding, for my father''s weapon, a long scythe, a visible vibration is emitted towards the direction you swing and whatever it hits will be liquefied in an instant. Currently, I am deep underwater. It is a place that my father created his magic. The magic is called¡¾Dominion: Deep Abyss¡¿.It is a high leveled dark magic, which only the best of the best in the dark element can use.¡¾Dominion¡¿is an illusion type of magic, it can send enemies into a virtual space created inside of the mind of the user and whatever type of place you thought of when you first used the magic will be created, a person can only have one domain their whole life. The weakness of this magic is, whatever happens to the body inside the domain will happen in the real world, and when you cast this spell, the user''s real body will be in a passive state, vulnerable to outside influence. I am now in this domain, training on how to use¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿.This is exactly how my father learned it. With the help of his dominion, he developed the technique. Training the¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿consist of resisting the pressure, which is increasing the deeper I dive. I also need to clear my thoughts, which I find difficult, as I need to control my mana in my body to resist the pressure. I''m also wondering why I need to clear my thoughts to begin with, I don''t even understand the correlation. Well, it''s not the time to be complaining, because I just remembered that I need to clear my mind. If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. Year 10 I am now 10 years of age. I had already mastered and improved the¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿to the highest degree in a short 1 year of time. My dad said that when he was training the¡¾Black Lions Roar¡¿it took him almost 2 years and another 5 years to master it. My father had a pitiful face when he said it that time. I also experimented on my Storage Ring. It can now store things that are doubled the size of a sword and can store about 300 swords. It''s a pretty good improvement, especially in the quantities that I can store. I am now currently in the process of mastering ¡¾Dominion¡¿too. My domain is called¡¾Dominion: White City¡¿.It is an abandoned city. When I said city, I don''t mean city like in this world, it is a city like in my world, it has tall skyscrapers and highways but there are no cars or people in it. When I sent my father there, he was in awe at my creativeness as he said that, a domainis hard to create the first time the user use¡¾Dominion¡¿. That was why his dominion consists only of water and darkness. It was good that he didn''t ask on how I imagined such things but based on my father''s character, which is an airhead, he most likely didn''t find it weird. I was in my own domain fighting 20 minotaurs. Minotaurs are big monsters with a head of a bull and are as big as a small bus. They are also carrying some huge mallets. It is probably too late to mention this, but my choice of weapon is a whip and some throwing daggers that I store in my Storage Ring. I know a whip is a strange choice for a weapon to my gender, but the only type of people that will mention it in my presence is my enemies. They won''t even have time to mock me, as they will be either dead or too busy dodging my relentless whipping. While I was thinking of that stuff, the last of the minotaurs has already dropped dead on the ground. They didn''t even leave a scratch on me, such pitiable monsters. End of Chapter 6 Chapter Seven: Disturbance Year 13 "It''s snowing quite hard today, isn''t it?" Martha commented while carrying the food to the table. "Yeah, it is. I wonder if it''s some kind of omen." While looking out of the window, my father speculated. "Don''t say such things when today is your son''s birthday." Lectured my mother. "Haha, I was only joking. Don''t take it seriously, Rena." My father said while looking apologetic due to his slip of the tongue. "It''s alright father, what you said is true. It really is snowing too much. I don''t think this is natural." I said while knitting my eyebrows as I looked out the window. The snow really is falling too much. I have a bad feeling about this. I was contemplating such thoughts when suddenly the sound of a broken window was heard. "What was that?" My father started gathering his mana into the table knife he was holding. "I don''t know my Lord. Should I check the place where the sound came from?" Offered Raul, who had already taken out his weapon, a black tonfa. "No, I think it''s just the strong wind that brought something heavy with it, and crashed into the window. However, just to be safe, Yuki can you please check what happened over there?" Said my father. "Alright. It should be the perfect time to try that magic." I said. I was already gathering the mana in my body. The magic that I mentioned is my own creation, a movement type magic. It is called ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ It is an improvement of the dark type magic ¡¾Shadow Step¡¿. ¡¾Shadow Step¡¿ works by allowing one to move instantaneously from one shadow to a different shadow nearby. My ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ enhances that effect, and also causes one''s presence to completely disappear from all normal senses while within the shadow. Unfortunately, it doesn''t work on someone who has a search type magic, like ¡¾Wind Scout¡¿, which searches the surrounding area with air, as the skill only erases your presence, not your existence. I stepped on a shadow inside the dining room and my presence completely disappeared from all of their senses, even though I''m still at the same spot. I can still see my father admiring the magic. The first time I used it, my father was in shock as he couldn''t detect my presence at all. He only recovered when I stepped out of the shadow and explained the magic to him, telling him that I can only erase my presence. He can still figure out where I am if he use a search type magic or erase all shadows in the vicinity by applying or removing light sources. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. As I walked through the shadows, slowly heading towards the place from where the sound came. I took out my whip and three throwing daggers from my Storage Ring. I arrived at the place, and what I found was a dead body that is lying face down. The body was full of wounds like those that come from a wind type cutting magic. The whole body is also covered in frostbite that I doubt was caused just by the snow and cold outside. As I decided to investigate the body, I noticed something moving underneath the body, near the stomach area. I stopped moving closer to the corpse and readied the three daggers in my left hand; imbuing mana into them before throwing them towards the place where there were signs of movement. I waited for a minute or so, to check if there was any movement, and only when I was sure there were no signs of movement did I move closer. After I flipped the body, I saw that there were several small, dead insects in the open stomach of the body. They looked like scarabs, except they were smaller and their color was red with black stripes. If what I had read in the [Library] about monsters in Isaiah is correct, then these insects should be called ''Desert Man-eating Scarab Workers''. The weird thing is, as the name suggests, they only live in the Desert and not anywhere near here, where it is snowing. This is really weird, I thought. Suddenly, the body that I had assumed was dead suddenly used magic. It was the Lightning-type magic ¡¾Lightning Explosion¡¿. While I was thinking about what magic it was, the magic had already activated and exploded upon the spot. *Booooom!* End of Chapter 7 A common misconception and some trivia: It can snow in a desert.Being a desert has no bearing on how hot or cold it is. The definition of a desert is based on how little precipitation the area gets. The largest desert in the world is Antarctica. Authors Note: Sorry about the misleading lengths of the chapters. I just can''t seem to do it evenly. I''m searching for a good artist for this novel, so send me a message if you want to volunteer~ Chapter Eight: Rage Flame Queen *kee kee* (crackling noise) "Yuki! Where are you? Are you alright!?" My mother who came right away after the explosion shouted. "Calm down, Rena. He is alright. I can feel him outside of the house. He must have used ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ right before the explosion." My father consoled her while using a dark magic called ¡¾Black Hole¡¿ to clear away all the smoke that gathered because of the explosion. "Mother, I''m alright." I used ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ to go back inside. "Yuki! Thank God you''re alright! Are you hurt anywhere?" Said mother who is checking every bit of my body if there was any injury. "I''m fine, mother, I don''t have any injuries on me. Father, I think there''s a field type ice magic ¡¾Blizzard¡¿ casted on a circumference of 2 miles around here." I said while looking into the distance. "Impossible! Only the most powerful ice mage known in Isaiah can use ¡¾Blizzard¡¿ that can cover 2 miles of an area and can only last for an hour. That ice mage is from the Devil family of the Demon race. They are our ally!" Stated father while creasing his brows while looking at me. "No, father, I didn''t say it was Meria-san''s mother. When I was outside I used ¡¾Mana Manipulation¡¿ and expanded my perception throughout the area and discovered over 20 mages casting the magic ¡¾Blizzard¡¿ and 5 that are using the spell ¡¾Frostbite¡¿to enhance the spell. There maybe more of them hiding in the surrounding." ¡¾Mana Manipulation¡¿ is a lost magic that I found in the [Library] it was said to be the magic of the Gods. The story for that, I will mention at a later date. [Spell] is different from [Magic]. There are two kinds of spells. The first one is the support spells. Support spells are less effective than magic, so there are only a few people who specialize in this department, but the advantage of a spell is its perfect compatibility with magic. It can synchronize perfectly to improve the effect of the casted magic. The second one is the Magic spells. They are called magic spells because they are branches of a strong magic. For example the fire element annihilation type magic ¡¾Hellfire¡¿. It has many branches of spells that you can use, like ¡¾Hellfire: Blazeball¡¿. It is a stronger version of ¡¾Fireball¡¿ "That many!? The number of ice mages that can cast ¡¾Blizzard¡¿ are low. I don''t believe they are just messing with us. Are they planning to freeze us to death?" Said my father while the directing a fierce gaze filled with killing intent into the distance. "To mess with my family and almost killing my son, whoever they are, they will pay for this!" My mother who is already releasing her mana essence said. Her whole body is glowing crimson red, the same as her hair, while the mana around the area is starting to get scarce because of it. She started to walk outside. I was going to stop her, but my father put his hands on my shoulder and stopped me. "You shouldn''t get in her way when she''s like that. She isn''t called the ''Rage Flame Queen'' for no reason. You should let us parents do our job for once. I''ll back her up, so don''t worry. I think the enemies are the ones that would need the help, though." Father said while he channeled the mana around the area and combined it with his own. Sirius POV "Alright! Time to show off to my son ¡¾Darkness Ascension: Dark Form¡¿!" I said while casting my own unique magic. My whole body was covered in black mist-like smoke except for the eyes. The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement. ¡¾Darkness Ascension¡¿is my own unique magic. It''s the only magic that I, by myself, have created. It has many branches of spells, ¡¾Darkness Ascension: Dark Form¡¿ is one of them. Though I say it is my own unique magic, I think my son is already learning how to use it. So, I think it could not be called a unique magic soon. The comprehension of my son is quite scary. I think if he has the ability to use all the elements, it will be only a matter of time till he can use all the magic, spells, and even techniques. That''s a scary thought. But, alas, a person can only have 3 types of element, and only the geniuses of geniuses can have them. While I was having those delusions, Rena had already started chanting incantations. Rena is a chanting type mage. When you use magic while chanting, the magic you released will be enhanced by two-folds. Though the weakness of chanting is revealed when you are fighting close combat, that only applies to races that use vocal incantations. Rena has the Devil bloodline of the Demon race. When they are in that form, they don''t use their vocal chords to talk, instead, they use brainwaves. Ahh, I just remembered I need to get away from her to avoid any misfires. ¡¸O twisted crimson fury, heed my call! Turn thy enemy into cinders. ¡¾FIRESTORM¡¿!¡¹ Hundreds of boulder-sized flames appeared before her. When they all finished forming, they shot off into the skies with the trajectory to where the enemies were. While I was hearing those pitiful screams of pain, Rena was chanting an incantation of another magic. ¡¸O twisted crimson fury, Hear my call. The blood in my body as the fuel, and the hatred, and anger for my enemy as the trigger ¡¾Conflagration!¡¿¡¹ The surroundings of the area where the enemies were, combusted into a sea of flames. The continuous screaming earlier stopped, replacing it with the sound of roaring flames. It continued for a couple of seconds, then stopped because Rena ceased supplying the fire with mana. Although it was just a couple of seconds, with the strenght of Rena''s flames there wasn''t any trace of corpse left. "Hey, Rena. Don''t you think that was a little bit of an overkill? You didn''t even gave me the chance to show off to Yuki." I released the magic I used while complaining to her. "Hmph! Stop being a girl and man up! They don''t deserve to leave a corpse for attacking us!" "Yeah, I agree with that, but how will we know who attacked us and what their motives for attacking us were?" I said while feeling a little down being called a girl by my own wife. "¡That''s. Well, that''s where you come in. Just use your connections or something." Rena said while avoiding eye contact. "Haaaa. That''s going to be hard without a corpse to examine you know?" I sighed while using the magic ¡¾Black Hole¡¿to extinguish the fire and steam. "Don''t worry father, I already have a solution for that." My son was dragging a bloody body with one hand. End of chapter 8 Authors Note: I would like to thank GM_Rusaku and Ldyrdy for the good chuuni-ish incantations. Still can''t get used to the proper length of chapters. Chapter Nine: Foreboding "Is that one of them? Is he still alive?" My father asked while directing killing intent to the unconscious bloody male that I''m dragging towards them. "I don''t know. He was the one who used ¡¾Lightning Explosion¡¿ in the living room. I put him inside my domain before the magic exploded and healed him. Though, I think he will be unconscious for another two days." I told my father while looking at the aftermath of the one-sided battle. I''ve improved my¡¾Dominion: White City¡¿ while I was practicing it at age 12. I can put people and things inside there and still move freely. The person who is locked up can still release mana to get out, he/she will be free when the capacity of mana inside the domain overflows. It''s gonna be hard to do that, though, as I expanded it''s capacity to over 50 times a normal humans mana. "Hahaha. You always know what to do Yuki. It will be easier to get information about the attackers. I''ll take him to the Necromancers Guild in Zariel so we can get the information. Then we will destroy them once we find out who the people behind this attack." My mother flashed a wicked grin. "No, we shouldn''t take this matter to people who aren''t related. We don''t know who our enemies are, so we need to keep this incident to ourselves. At least, until we know who we''re dealing with." My father said while he signaled Raul to take the man away. "Yes, we should do as father says, mother. We have a little to no information about what we''re dealing with, and the Demon race should not be eliminated from the candidates of suspects." This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. "I assure you Yuki, the Demons are not one of the suspects for this crime against us. Nobody from the Demon race will attack a Devil because it is one of the rules that Death God Zenith imposed upon the Demon race." My mother while looking at me seriously clarified. "Yes, a demon can''t attack a Devil, but it isn''t the case for another Devil. Do you remember what Meria Zenith tell us every time she comes here?" Argued my father. "That''s... She was warning us didn''t she? There is no way that Meria is behind the attack!" My mother argued back and unconsciously started to release her magic essence. "Calm down, Rena. I am not suspecting her, if she was the one who is behind the attack, then she wouldn''t come here three times a week that year, and wouldn''t still visit once a week. I''m just wondering how did she get such information." Was the reason Meria was coming to our house this? Did she warn us that something like this was going to happen because she knew something? It looks like I need to talk to Meria once she gets here tomorrow. End of Chapter 9 Authors Note: Sorry for the late chapter. This will be the last short chapter, sorry about that. I will be using word, so I can keep up the length of the chapters. Chapter Ten: Arrival Chapter Ten: Arrival Meria POV ¡°Faster Fifi, todayisthe day that I foresawinthe prediction. We need to hurry, or elsewemightbe too late!¡± Ihurried my mount, a monster from the Kirin race. The Kirins are an almost extinctrace of monsters. There are almost noneof themleft. The onlyother KirinI saw except for Fifi was owned by, Guren, the Queen of the Oni race. They look like horses with an appearance resembling Dragons. They have different elements andarevery powerful. A baby Kirin can already destroy a whole cityquiteeasily. Fifi was caught and tamed by my mother after she was beaten in a fight. The reason that my mother gave it tomewas because of theirdifferingelemental affinity. My mother was an Ice element mage while Fifi was a Fire element monster. While I was thinking that, I saw crimson flames rising from the horizon, it was a very captivating sight. But the only thing that I could say in that scenario was... ¡°I was too late.¡± Imutteredsoftly while looking at the place where theburningcrimson flame was at. I willedthemana essencesinsidemy body to be released. The surrounding mana was getting scarce as it was being eaten by my mana essence. I utilized the spell called ¡¾Burst¡¿onFifi to speed up her racial ability ¡¾Burning Gallop¡¿. Fifi''s speed rise up to by threefold when I used it on her. The disadvantage of using this is, it uses too much staminaand Fifican only keep it up for about 30 minutes. The crimson fire has already died down when I drew near, the area was full of black ashes, it was an eerie sight in thissnow-filled land. Suddenly, when I was approaching the scene, a shadow came in front ofFifi whowas heading at full speed. Iwon''tbe able to stop in time, we¡¯re gonna crash, such are my thoughts, but tomy surprise, Fifi had actually stoppedmovingforward. When I looked back, there was a big black orb-like thing that was emitting a dark aura. Iassumethis was the Dark element magic ¡¾Black Hole¡¿ but thereis something different. It was not sucking anything into it at all, it was just a passive black orb,but it was stopping Fifi from advancing, which is quite strange.Come to think of it, I can¡¯t move an inch too. Though I was surprised, I was not scared at all. Because the only one whocoulddo this kind of strange and powerful Dark magic is... ¡°Yuki...¡± Yuki POV ¡° I feel a person with a huge mana pool coming here. I think he/she is from the Devil family, as I can sense mana essence forming.¡± I said while lookingintothe distance. ¡°What!? Who is it?¡±Mother angrily said andshe was already entering combat mode. ¡°Calm down mother, if I am not mistaken, this aura should belong to someone we know.¡± ¡°She is here? This is too much of a coincidence, she is suspicious. We need to be careful.¡± Father who hadalready activatedhis¡¾Dark Ascension: Human Form¡¿warned. ¡°Don¡¯t attack her! She is not the one who attacked us. Stop releasing a dangerous magic, right now!¡±My mother shouted at my father. ¡°But...¡± ¡°It¡¯s alright father. I will go there to ask whatis shedoing here.¡± I said. Ihad already started to¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ towards Meria before my mother could say anythingin protest. I can already see Meria riding her mount, Fifi. However, itwas galloping too fast. I will not be able to talk to her if I don¡¯t stop her first. I willed the mana around me and combined it with my own and used ¡¾Black Star¡¿. ¡¾Black Star¡¿ is an improved version of ¡¾Black Hole¡¿. ¡¾Black Hole¡¿ sucks everything in the surroundingwith gravitational force without an exception towards it. ¡¾Black Star¡¿ only sucks in things that are willed by me and can control the gravity of surroundings. The weakness of ¡¾Black Star¡¿ is, it has a physical form, which means you can destroy it by smashingit, unlike ¡¾Black Hole¡¿ which is intangible. I used ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿undera tree, near her. I then released a ¡¾Black Star¡¿ behind her and controlled the gravity towards the ¡¾Black Star¡¿ to stop her from advancing. It was asuccess, I stopped her advance safely, and it looks like she isn¡¯t scared, only surprised a bit. Such is my train of thoughts, when she suddenlycalledmy name. ¡°Yuki...¡± ... There was a longawkwardpause between us while wecontinued to gazeateach other''s eyes. I was wondering why her voice was a bit melancholic but it hadcontaineda hint of happiness as well. The scene isgetting a bit awkward, so I decided to break the silence by talking. ¡°Meria-san, whatare you doing here today, aren¡¯t you supposed to be visiting tomorrow?¡± I questioned her with a blank expression. ¡°Yuki... I-I...¡± Meria said, stuttering. ¡°Calm down, and breathe properly. Could you come down from your mount, so that we can talk properly?¡± I told her,to calm her down. She nodded and got off her mount. Shehadalreadycontained her releasedmana essence when she knew I was the one who stopped her, so there¡¯s a low possibility of her being an enemy. Also, I can¡¯t sense any malicious intent from her. She might be faking it today, but I knew her since I was only 1 years old andhadmet her many times. There is no possibility of her escaping my sensesforthat long. As I was thinking that, I already took her off her feet and carried her, princess style. ¡°W-what are y-you doing Y-Yuki¡± She stutteringlyaskedwitha beet red face. A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. She must be angryatme for carrying her all of a sudden. But it¡¯s necessary so that my fatherwouldbe less cautious of her and mother to be less mad at me. ¡°I¡¯m gonna put Fifi in my domain. Is that alright?¡± Iinquired fromher with a straight face. ¡°Okay...¡±She sheepishly answered. I put Fifiinsidemy domain. As I finished placing Fifi, I willed my manaontomy feet andactivated the support spell ¡¾Speed Boost¡¿. I wanted to use ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿, but ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ only works for the caster. ¡¾Speed Boost¡¿ is exactly as the name implies, it boost both attacking speed and movement speed, although it does not double the speed, it is a long lasting spell. I also used one of the family technique¡¾Black Lions Pounce¡¿. It gathers potent dark energy through the feet and burst it in one go, reaching up to 700 meters in one go if mastered, when in mid-pounce, the dark energy spreads throughout the body and you will look just like a black shadow, which means it is perfect for ambushes. The Blacklion family has a unique bloodline that is passed onto every generation''s dominant male. When inherited, the dark energy inside the body of the person is more potent than any other human who practice Dark magic, which means that the dark mages with the Blacklions bloodline willbe able tocontrol the dark energy.Dark energy, which normally should be unstable, will have more stability andthe user will have morecontrol over it. Though that rule was a problem for the marriagebetweenmother and father. A female of the Devil family can only have one offspring. The mana essence of a Devil is inherited by the very first offspring, so if they try to have more, then the next offspring would not be able to produce mana essence and even worse, because of the racial characteristic of a Devil, which is to have a body that can absorb mana to make mana essence and is attached to their life force - which is the secret of the Devils long lifespan - if they can¡¯t produce mana essence to connect to their life force, they would die shortly after being born. Which means, if I was born as a girl, theywould have hada big problem. I wonder if my fatherwould have gottena concubine if that happened. Though with my mother''s personality, which is hot-headed, my father will probably get turned into ashes with the said concubineif that ever happened.I contemplated on such things beforeI realized I was getting into my own bad habit of makingup storiesin my head and getting sidetracked. ¡°Ahh... Y-Yuki, you¡¯re going too fast! We¡¯re gonna crash!¡±Meria warned, closing her eyes while putting her head close to my face and holding my neck tightly. It looks weird, considering the fact the difference in our body structures, which is my body that is barely a teen and hers that looks like a 20-year-old. ¡°No, we¡¯re not. Open your eyes to see. I¡¯m using magic to pierce through the air resistance, so you should be able to open your eyes.¡± Itold herwhile using ¡¾Mana Manipulation¡¿to split open the air in front of us. ¡°N-no... I¡¯m fine as it is. J-just get us there safely...¡± She screamed. She may have thought thatthe air resistance is blocking off the sound. ¡°But we¡¯re already here.¡± I answered while looking at the audience, which is my mother, father, Raul and Martha, with a calm look. Theywerelooking towards us with different kinds of faces.Myfatherhada weird look on his face and is frozen up, whilemymother was looking at us with sparkling eyes, smiling andgiving mea thumbs up. Raulislooking at us with his usual, straight face and Martha is putting her right hand on her cheek, with a smile. ¡°Eeehhh?¡± She let out a shriek while shestruggled out of my embrace, panicked. ¡°Having fun Meria? It¡¯s a wonderful day to embrace the ones you love, isn¡¯t it?¡± My mother commented whilea smirk can be seen on herface. I wonder what mother is saying. Using mana essence and a high leveled magic for the first time in years must have fried her brain. I don¡¯t recall this day being wonderful at all.I thought while tilting my head in confusion at her words. ¡°Awawa... It¡¯s not what you think Rena-san. I-I was just scared because of the speed that Yuki was moving at.¡± She argued back tomy mother while looking down with a beet red face. I wonder what happened to her refined and dignified posture. Her current manners are a mess too.Such thoughts raced through my confused mind. ¡°Ehem... Might we get back on the topic now?¡±My father announcedlooking at Meria with a serious look on his face. ¡°You... Haaa... You just can¡¯t read the mood, can you? We should go back inside to talk, it¡¯s cold out here.¡±My mother asserted while looking at my father with a deadpan face and sighed. ¡°I shall fix the living room, for all of you to converse. Please wait in thediningroomfor the meantime, until the room is fixed.¡±Raul interjected. ¡°I shall prepare food, for all of you to eat while you wait for the living room to be fixed. Shall I prepare the ¡®Horned Rabbit King¡¯ or the ¡®Snow Frost Leopard¡¯?" Marta suggested. ¡°Prepare them both. I was already planning to prepare them today, and would have if it wasn¡¯t for the disturbance.¡±Sounding a bit annoyed my father told Martha. End of Chapter 10 Upcoming chapters should be side stories about his childhood and how he practiced ''Library Magic'' Authors Note: Sorry about the late releases. Been busy at school stuff. This chapter should be longer than the others. It should be 1,500+ , I''ll try to make it longer as the story progresses but don''t expect too much. Veteran authors advised to make it ''Quality against quantity'' so I''ll make it like that and improve along the way. It''s my first novel, so please don''t be too hard on me. Side Story 2: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 1 Side Story Two: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 1 Age 6 I am currently absorbing mana residing in the atmosphere and releasing it by using a spell called ¡¾Magic Release¡¿. ¡¾Magic Release¡¿ is a spell that is of unknown origin. It was said that it was from the magic of the ancients while other theories were that it was a magic bestowed by the gods. It releases all the mana in your body and shoot it in the direction where your hand is pointing at. Although it might sound powerful, but on the contrary, even though it releases your mana, it releases it in a scattered and unconcentrated form. It combines with the different energies in the surroundings in this form, making it less powerful because of the incompatibilities among the different energies. Which means, a ¡¾Fire Ball¡¿ or even a mana concentrated punch can do more damage than¡¾Magic Release¡¿. Some people believe that it is more powerful than what it seems, so they tried to improve the spell by improving the control and concentrating it into a purer form. In the end, they failed to improve it, because they can''t find the origin of the said spell, which is a spell book. [Mana] and [Energy] are different things. [Mana] is the source of power, like a battery, which supplies it to the source to form into what is called [Mana Source]. While [Energy] is a source of power for the [Elements]. Combine them and it will turn into what is known as [Magic]. You might be wondering why I know this stuff. It was because of me reading about it in the library of course, and not the ¡¶Library¡·on where I¡¯m being taken into when I¡¯m using ¡¾Library Magic¡¿. I am currently not using it at the moment, because of the low mana pool I have. It is better to explore the ¡¶Library¡·when I have enough time to do what I want and not be forced out while I¡¯m in the middle of doing something. Whatever the origin of ¡¾Magic Release¡¿ is, I am currently using it in a repeating cycle. The reason for this is because of the answer my father provided to an inquiry of mine yesterday. ...A day earlier. ¡°Father, I¡¯ve been absorbing mana in the atmosphere while converting it into pure mana for almost a year now. Why is the progress slow, even when I was absorbing at a pace where I have almost never taken a break.¡± I asked father. ¡°Eh? That means you have already hit the capacity of your mana pool. You will now need to start releasing it by using a spell called ¡¾Mana Release¡¿. It is as the name implies, it releases your mana, almost all of your mana, only leaving the mana needed to stay conscious and to walk properly. You will need to absorb mana from the atmosphere again to regain the used mana, but the difference, this time, is you don¡¯t need to convert the absorbed mana into pure mana. Though most humans need at least 3 years of absorbing mana in the atmosphere and converting it into pure mana, before they start on this practice. But I guess you''re not a normal human because you have the blood of the Devil Family inside of you. Even so, this is just ridiculous, even a Devil needs at least 2 years of absorbing mana before they can start this practice.¡± Father said, awestruck. Well, that was pretty stupid of me not to ask. I already reached the capacity of my mana pool a month ago, I thought I just needed to continue absorbing mana, so that my mana pool will continue to expand. I cogitated on the question, what if my mana pool is just naturally small. But, that can¡¯t be the case, as I felt my mana pool is pretty big, I even thought it was abnormally big. Then why did I reached my capacity of absorbing mana pretty early? I wonder if it was because I was doing something different than everyone else because I was reincarnated or was it because of that playful God¡¯s intervention. It should be the former as I think it isn¡¯t like that God to intervene on someone who he/she is competing with. Though I can¡¯t really guess what that God will do on a whim, as he/she is pretty much unpredictable. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. As I was thinking of such thoughts, my father is already ordering Raul to get all the books relating to the spell and books about the needed nutrition, so the mana will circulate better inside the body. Leading to a faster increase of a person¡¯s mana pool. I guess those books are from my father''s own personal collection, as I had already read all the books in the common library. ...Back to the present. With that explained, I am now on the 34th cycle of using ¡¾Mana Release¡¿ and absorbing mana to replenish the lost mana. I think this is pretty weird, though, as the rate that I can replenish my mana is ridiculous. I can replenish all of my mana in a matter of 30 minutes. It was mentioned in the book, that the mana pool of a human child at the age of 7-8 will need at least an hour of absorbing before they can release their mana again. My mana pool is already bigger than any child of the same age, at least on what the book says, now I can regenerate my mana in a quicker pace too. Is this really not that damn God¡¯s doing? Ah, whatever, faster training means I can practice ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ earlier than expected. Such are my train of thoughts while I am steadily repeating the cycle of releasing and replenishing my mana. ...5 Months later. ¡°I think I have enough mana to stay inside the ¡¶Library¡· longer to do some exploring. I think with my current mana pool, I have two hours of exploring before ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ expires.¡± I assert to myself with a body full of sweat due of repeating the 3426th cycle of releasing and replenishing mana in the snow-filled area and under the scorching sun. We moved house a little closer to the Human Kingdom Rolen in the east, 2 months earlier. The house is near the north-east position of Rolen, it is near the border of the country of never melting ice Nalia. Although it is called a country of never melting ice, the ice there is just hard to melt as it is a place full of Ice Energy, though the catch is, when you melt it, the puddle left whenyou melt it will turn into ice in a matter of seconds. Nalia is a frozen barren wasteland, it has no race living there except for the Ice fairies. There was a rumor that a race, known to be extinct called ¡®Lutin¡¯ is still living there. There are many Ice-element monsters living there too. Although I have little information on the race of ¡®Lutin¡¯, there was a book I read in the library in my past life, about a creature known as ¡®Lutin¡¯, or better known as a ¡®Nain Rouge or Red Dwarf¡¯. As I contemplated on such matters, I was already gathering my mana and asserted ¡¾Library Magic¡¿in my head. As I had my eyes opened, I saw the scenery distorted and changed into the place I call the ¡¶Library¡·. Nothing has changed since I last visited here, huh? Though the glasses are missing from the table, that is pretty much because I¡¯m currently wearing it, even though I didn¡¯t even touched it when I first came here. There is no dust forming on the equipment at all, and the fire on the candles still hasn¡¯t gone out. I wonder if it¡¯s because of mana.Maybe there is someone or something else in here beside me and they are maintaining the place. If this was a novel, I would have already made many death flags for thinking those things, but sadly, I¡¯m not in any novel, right? I noticed that I am getting into my bad habits of narrating the scene like a story inside my head. I really should stop that, I reminded myself. ¡°I better get started on exploring, I already wasted 5 minutes of my 2 hours ruminating.¡± I reprimanded myself to stop thinking too much. End of Side story 2 Side Story 3: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 2 Side Story 3: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 2 "I guess I should start by inspecting the contents placed on the table, as they might be magic tools, like my glasses." I said while looking at the contents that are placed on the table. I haven''t got to explain it yet, but my glasses is a magic tool, at least that''s what I''m going to call it, for now. Because I don''t have enough information about magic tools to make a definite conclusion. I only noticed the capabilities of my glasses when I tried experimenting by imbuing mana into the glasses, but it didn''t work, as I couldn''t feel anything changing. Though I still imbued the glasses with mana, with the hope of finding out what its capabilities are. The power of the glasses showed when I started reading a book. It accelerated my reading speed by three folds, it also lets me understand unknown languages, but I''m guessing it is just limited to reading and not hearing, as it is a magic tool related to the eyes. There is another ability that the glasses have, I can read words even up to 100 meters of distance, regardless of the size of the characters and even when there are light obstacles in the way, like a curtain, as long as you can see that there are supposed to be words on it, you can read it. For example, my father is reading a book on his room although I can''t see him very clearly, because the windows in this age are not as clear like in my past world, the fog on the window because of the snow also lowers the visibility, and to top it all off, there was even a thin curtain in the way of the book, even with all that, as I knew there were supposed to be words on the book he was reading. I could read the words on the book as if it is right in front of me. Though it was a hassle, as my father isn''t really as fast as me at reading, even without the magic tool glasses. I had to wait a while before he was finished reading the page and he flipped to the next page before I had the chance to continue reading. Although it was really pretty stupid of me to do that, as I wasted a whole morning of my practice time, only to find out that what my father was reading was an erotica. I almost want to facepalm myself because of the stupidity of my action, but I held myself back because of the glasses on my face. I didn''t really know if it had a self-repair mechanism on it, but I didn''t want to try it before I even have the chance to use it to its full potential, that is, in the ¡¶Library¡·. I was thinking of such thoughts, as I realize that I am getting into my bad habit again. This is really annoying, as I noticed that I already wasted another 10 minutes, making it a whole 15 minutes of time wasted of my precious 2 hours. Though I can''t really complain as I can replenish all of my current mana pool in just a matter of an hour. I started on the bookmark, it looks like a large wooden ruler except it doesn''t have measurement numbers on it, there isn''t really anything special about it. I don''t really understand its purpose as I can already read very fast and I have a good memory, I don''t think I would need a bookmark to know where I stopped reading at. I imbue mana into it anyway and it suddenly emits a faint white light onto the edge of the bookmark. If I look at myself from a third person''s perspective, I certainly look like a certain bespectacled young wizard with a lightning bolt scar, and is getting ready to chant ''expecto patronum''. Ah, I really miss reading some of the fictions from my world, there should be a book about that story here, with what I requested to that God, I will have access to both Earth''s and Isaiah''s book. Although he/she said that there will be restrictions, I don''t think he/she will change the power to mess with the expected effect that I requested. I will check that book out when I have the time. Now to check what the bookmark''s effect is, as it is a bookmark, I think I need to use it on a book. There is a book on the table, but it looks like it''s important, I don''t really know what the effect of this bookmark is, so I should probably hold on using it on an important looking book, as the bookmark could have an effect of burning the book into ashes. I grabbed the candleholder so that I can explore this dark room. I was walking straight when it came in front of my sight. The first thing I see here except for the table and its content, was a bookshelf filled with books, as I predicted, this place really is a library. It would have been embarrassing for me, naming the place ¡¶Library¡·, if it was just a dark room with nothing in it except for the table and its content. There were many bookshelves coming into my field of vision as I continue to move forward. After 30 minutes of advancing, there were still no signs of me getting into a dead end. I started to run with all my might, only to see the end of the room a minute later. If my calculations are right, I should have traveled about 10 miles, and if the table is at the center of this place, then it should have a radius of 10 miles. Though I''m not really sure if it has the same distance if I go in a different direction, but if it really has, then this whole room should contain thousands of bookshelves. Even if that sounds a lot, there is no way that is close to the number of books that exists in two worlds, especially in my world, where there should be tens of millions of books created throughout the whole history of humanity, and from what I know of Isaiah, this world should be larger than Earth by a lot. They also seems to have a good way to produce paper, as there are a lot of books in my house, and not counting the books and hidden spell books that my father and mother have in their rooms, so it means that this world shouldn''t have much of a gap when it comes to the numbers of books, as Isaiah has a much more longer history than Earth. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. Though it''s a baseless assumption, as I don''t know if other household has as many books as mine too. Because my household is very wealthy and is influential in Rolen. Still, I don''t even know why we have this many books in our house, the only book I''ve ever seen seen father read is erotica and adventure books, and as for mom, she just read romantic types of books and occasionally some cookbooks. "I should check how high the ceiling is, if my assumption is right, there should be another floor up there." While getting ready to jump up I asserted to myself. I jumped and reached the ceiling, and it was about 15ft high. It should be the right height, as the bookshelves are pretty big themselves reaching up to 10ft high. It would kill a normal person if those things fall down on them, though if it was me, with my current mana filled body, it would just hurt me a little. The problem is, it will have a domino effect, when one falls down, they will all fall down. Though there is something familiar about this place, it''s like I''ve been here before, and I mean earlier than the first time I came here when I was 5 years old. If my guess is correct, the middle of the room should be open for me to jump up. I moved a little closer to the middle of the room, when I judged that it''s already enough of a distance, I concentrated my mana on my foot and jumped with all my might. 20ft, 30ft, and when I reached my limit of 50ft, I still didn''t see a trace of the ceiling. There should, at least, be 5 floors in this place, if every floor shares the same height. It seems my guess was correct, I already knew of this place before I even started to use ¡¾Library Magic¡¿. The question is when? My memories is a bit hazy, which is weird as I have perfect memorization, is this that God''s doing? I should probably stop trying to recall those memories, as I''m starting to get nauseous. Maybe I should try going to the 2nd floor by jumping. As I jumped up I started by putting a small amount of mana on my feet, as to not go overboard, I jumped directly to the 2nd floor and safely landed. That is what I''m supposed to say if I didn''t just hit some kind of barrier in there before I got the chance to cross over. I started to fall down to the 1st floor and I directly stepped on top of a bookshelf to use as a foothold. I gently jump down the bookshelf, as I look up at the invisible barrier closing off the second floor. I guess I need to use the stairs to go to the 2nd floor. Though I know where the stairs are, I should probably do what I was supposed to be doing until I got sidetracked, and that is to test the power of the bookmark. I picked up a random book close to me, it was titled ''How to train your Nekomimi slave''. "...What the hell. I don''t even know if this book came from Isaiah or it came from Earth, as I can imagine that this kind of book can exist even on Earth." I mused to myself as I started to read its contents. Strangely enough, it really is from Earth. It was a novel about a guy who bought some stuff about summoning a dragon to rampage in the city he was currently living in because he was humiliated in front of his crush, but what he summoned was a Nekomimi with a big bust and golden hair, cat ears, and tail. Well, I should probably stop reading it, as I only have 3 minutes left before my consciousness get transferred back to Isaiah. I started to imbue mana on the bookmark and placed it on the page of the book where I stopped reading. Nothing happened when I did that, so I took it out of the book and started to point the glowing end of the bookmark towards the book. It finally showed its effect, the book started to glow bright red and had the glowing words ''unfinished'' imprinted on it. I tried changing the words with ''Nekomimi'' and also tried changing the colors into yellow, and it worked! I am content with the effect, as I think it will be useful if I can take it out of the ¡¶Library¡·. The countdown to when my consciousness gets transportedback to Isaiah started, so I proceeded to put the book back into the same position where I took it from. But when I look at the space that I was going to put it, there was a pair of creepy eyes staring back at me as if it wants to devour me. I stared back at it frozen from surprise at the scenario that is currently happening, until I felt my vision started to distort. I was back in my own room where I used ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ when I came to. I was still frozen from shock at what I saw in the ¡¶Library¡·. The only words I could mutter were... "What the -" End of Side Story 3 Authors Note: Should be a boring chapter. Sorry for the info dumps~ Side story 4: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 3 Side story 4: Childhood and Library Magic - Part 3 "What the hell was that?" I said to myself while trying to recall the memory of the thing that I just saw. Was I just seeing things. Or was it an illusion? I was contemplating as such, only to dismiss the thought as there should be no reason for that to happen. Is there really another person or creature, other than myself, that is living in the ¡¶Library¡·? I should explore more of the ¡¶Library¡· later after I replenish my almost depleted mana pool. I started to absorb mana from the surrounding so that I can replenish my own mana, only to discover that I was holding the bookmark magic tool that was in the ¡¶Library¡·. I guess this means that I can bring out the magic tools that was on the table, to the outside world. This bookmark magic tool should be useful to me, in a lot of ways. As I was having such thoughts, I have begun to imbue the bookmark magic tool with mana and aim it at a nearby vase in my room. I shot the orb with a faint light that came out of the bookmark magic tool at the vase, and it landed successfully onto the vase. After that, the vase shined with a color of red and was labeled with a name of ''experimental vase'' as it was according to my will. Although it is shining with a red color, the original color of the vase, which is blue, is still the same only covering it with a faint shine of red. After that, I left my room to find a nearby maid or butler to test my hypothesis. Only a few seconds after, I found a maid that is currently wiping the windows clean, based on my memory, I think her name is Gillian. She should be around the age of 20-21 and is of the beastmen race and the tribe of the cat race. She has yellow cat ears and tail, her face is not bad either, on a scale of 1-10, if talking about her beauty, then she''ll pass as a 7. Though it is just a judgment from me, who hasn''t really met a lot of girls in this world. If she was on the Earth, then I would have given her a 9, but based on the girls that I had met in Isaiah, mainly mother and Meria, who I graded a 9 and 9.5 respectively, then she really is a 7. Although I am measuring her beauty, I don''t have the slightest bit of interest on the topic about love or romance, as in my opinion, those things are just a nuisance. I just appreciate the beauty, that''s all. "Good afternoon Young Master, can I help you with anything?" She inquired from me, as she noticed that I was looking at her. "Ah, there is one thing that I need your help with. Can you look at this vase to see if there is anything weird about it?" I said, holding out the vase with one hand to her. "I am sorry for this servant''s incompetence, but I don''t see anything out of the ordinary about this vase. Please forgive me." She bowed to ask for forgiveness. "It''s alright, please rise. May I ask you to concentrate your mana into your eyes and look at it again to see if there''s any change." She started to gather the mana in her body and concentrating it to the eyes. "There''s still no change, Young Master." "I see. Thank you for your cooperation Gillian-san, please continue with your work." I stored the vase in my storage ring. "Please ask this servant if there is anything more that I can help Young Master with. I will help with my utmost effort." She said, bowing. The experiment was a success. I left the hallway after that, so she can continue to with her work. Although I don''t like people who talk too much but she is too stiff, I don''t think I can talk to her for too long. But I guess it''s because of the master and servant relationship that we share she is acting like that. The first time I saw her, coincidentally it was my first time seeing a Beastman, I thought that she will speak with ''nyaa'' at the end of every sentence, it wasn''t like that though, I guess it was kinda racist of me. I should reflect on that. When I see her talking with the other maids, she is more cheerful than that. Though she is gentle too, kind of like a big sister type. Though I can''t really judge her work personality, as my overall personality among other people is as a quiet and eccentric child. I am a bit of an anti-social person even when I was still on Earth. Other people even say that I have a scary and hard to approach aura, and combine it with my always emotionless face, almost no one would even approach me, much less talk to me. Though there were people that talked to me even with all that, most of them are those are the people who can''t read the mood and the meddlesome type of people. As I was reminiscing about the past, I have already arrived at my destination, which is outside the house. The reason that I came here is to find a monster so that I can test the bookmark magic tool to see if it works on living beings as well. Although I could''ve just tested it on Gillian, there could be a possibility that it is harmful or even deadly, so I refrain myself on doing so. I concentrated my mana to enhance my senses and ran into the nearby forest. About 10 minutes later, I found a suitable prey to experiment on. It was a Snow Leopard. They are the main predator of this forest, even I can''t win against it, though that is only if I fight head on. It should be perfect to test it on, I could even practice my fighting after, and the ''Snow Leopard'' is delicious after it is cooked. I could give it to Martha so that she could cook it. It''s practically killing three birds with one stone. Time to start on the first phase of the experimentation. I slowly imbue mana into the bookmark magic tool and aimed it at the Snow Leopard while standing at the top of a tree so the Snow Leopard can''t spot me. I need to do this in one shot because the Snow Leopard is a cautious monster. Snow Leopards only attacks when they have a proper plan to ambush their prey. If a Snow Leopard is caught off guard they will run away. Even if it knows that I''m weaker than it, it will still run away the moment it senses my presence. The most annoying part is, the Snow Leopard can camouflage to the surrounding snow and it will ambush me after I let my guard down. I fired the bookmark magic tool towards the Snow Leopard and it hit the mark in one shot. The Snow Leopard now have an aura of the color orange and is labeled with the word ''Prey''. Although it hit, the Snow Leopard is still not aware of what my actions. The first phase of the experiment is complete, now to start on the 2nd phase of the experiment. I took out a crossbow and a back quiver that has 25 bolts. I aimed the loaded crossbow near the Snow Leopard and fired it. It pierced the ground near the Snow Leopard. The Snow Leopard finally noticed my presence because of that, and it started to take a battle stance. I started to reload my crossbow with another bolt, when it noticed that I was gonna shoot at it again, it started to flee to the opposite of my direction. I waited for a minute before pursuing the Snow Leopard. I can still see the orange aura and the word ''Prey'' is tagged on it. With this, the second phase of the experiment is also complete. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. It''s time for the hunt! I started my pursuit of the fleeing Snow Leopard, based on its speed it should be in a 3-mile radius from where I am. I concentrated my mana on my legs so that I can run faster. I caught up a minute later, the Snow Leopard had traveled about 5 miles before stopping. The Snow Leopard is now camouflaged in the surrounding snow and is practically invisible, even father will have a hard time finding the Snow Leopard in this place. Although I said that, the Snow Leopard is now sticking out like a sore thumb with its orange aura and the ''Prey'' tag on it. It''s time for the third phase of the experiment to begin. I imbue mana on the bolt and loaded it onto the crossbow. I aimed at the head of the Snow Leopard and fired it. The Snow Leopard monster instinct was top-notch, so although the bolt was just inches away, the Snow Leopard still managed to move its head away. The mana imbued bolt pierced through the shoulder part, only missing the head by a hair''s breadth. NYAAAAAWR!!! "I guess you won''t go down that easily, huh?" I muttered while I took another bolt from the quiver and reloaded it onto the crossbow. Before I got the chance to aim, the Snow Leopard already pounced towards me. I tumbled sideways to dodge the incoming Snow Leopard, I imbue mana onto the bolt. Aiming at its stomach, I fired the bolt. Before the arrow had the chance to pierce the Snow Leopard, the Snow Leopard suddenly disappeared from my sight. The Snow Leopard reappeared behind me and swung its right claw at me, at the same time as that, I swung the crossbow at my hands towards its head, full force. My attack connected first and I used the momentum of the attack to get some distance away from the Snow Leopard. I noticed that my right hand was scratched and is now bleeding, but it should just be a shallow wound. It was close one, if not for the orange aura due to effect of the bookmark magic tool, then I wouldn''t have seen its movement at all and my injury would have been worse than a mere scratch, possibly it could have even killed me with that attack. NYAAAWR!!! The eyes of the Snow Leopard is glowing crimson red, its body also enlarged. This should be the skill of the Snow Leopard, the ¡¾Predator''s Rage¡¿. From what I had read at the library in the house, the only Snow Leopard that can use this skill is the Alpha Snow Leopard. They don''t have any visible differences from a normal Snow Leopard except the fact that they have the skill ¡¾Predator''s Rage¡¿. It must be my fortune, for my experimental prey to be an Alpha Snow Leopard. Well, there''s no meaning with regretting what''s already happened, I should focus on the fight. The Alpha Snow Leopard is encircling me while growling, looks like it''s become even more cautious now. I took out two swords from my storage ring and adopted a defensive stance while paying attention to the movements of the Alpha Snow Leopard. It again suddenly pounced towards me. I used the two swords to block the attack while concentrating my mana into my arms and legs. I redirected the attack before it got over to me. I slashed both of my swords towards its defenseless behind, but it suddenly disappeared from my sight again. I saw a blurry orange aura go upwards, so it should''ve jumped. I imbue mana into my left sword and concentrate my mana towards my left arm. I tumbled forward to dodge the incoming attack. The Alpha Snow Leopard attacked connected with the ground where I was supposed to be. I hurled my left sword towards at it. The Alpha Snow Leopard once again disappeared and dodged the incoming sword, but I was expecting that move. I saw the blurred orange aura move towards my right, so the Alpha Snow Leopard should be there. I used ¡¾Black Ball¡¿ and shot it towards the ground where I was standing. The surrounding area where I am is now filled with mist-like smoke. I got out of the way just in time for the Alpha Snow Leopard landed into the area. Its field of vision should now be blocked, wasting no time I imbue mana into the sword and concentrate all my mana in my body towards my arms, then I slash with all my might towards the Alpha Snow Leopard. Even though the place was full of black mist-like smoke, I could still tell that my attack was a success, as I felt the resistance when I slashed. Blood was spurting everywhere, did I struck an artery? I took some distance from the area because I still don''t know whether the Alpha Snow Leopard is still alive. After a minute or so, the mist-like smoke disappeared. It was then that I saw that the part I slashed was the neck. Although the neck was not severed, it was still a fatal wound. "Haa, I won huh?" I muttered while panting tiredly. Although I want to rest for a bit, unfortunately, I don''t have the luxury. Because, other predators should come here after they smelt the blood. I guess the 3rd phase of the experiment is a success as well. I look at the corpse that is still glowing with an orange aura and a tag. "There''s too much blood. I don''t think I can carry this all the way home without having a troublesome encounter. I should probably give up on bringing it home. I guess I only killed two birds huh?" I mused while I cut off the fangs of the Alpha Snow Leopard. This should be a good alchemy ingredient. I put it in my storage ring for future uses. I returned home after that. I got a scolding from my mother when I got home with an injury and blood all over my body. After that, I tried to use¡¾Library Magic¡¿ but to no avail, it looks like I can only use it once a day. I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to use it again. Such things came to my mind, before I succumbed to a deep slumber because of fatigue. End of Side Story 4 Footnote: He was 7 here by the way. And I''m not very good at sound effects NYAAAAAWR!!! Author''s Note: This was my first battle scene, forgive me of it wasn''t clear enough. This will be the end of the side stories for now. Also this is my longest chapter, yay me! I''ll try to increase the chapter length in the future chapters. Thanks for reading~ Chapter Eleven: Precognition Chapter Eleven: Precognition After we finished eating our dinner, we moved on to the topic about the recent events and why Meria knows about the attack. We were discussing this topic in the living room that Raul repaired. On how he did this in such a short time, apparently he is a Summoner, he summoned some contracted monsters to help him with his repairs of the living room. The monsters he summoned, by the way, were 3 Burly Goblins. Burly Goblins are 10 Ft Goblins that have a muscular appearance, they are even bigger than some of the Ogre and Oni race, who are mostly just 7-9 Ft tall, excluding a few variants. Although they are bigger than them, it doesn''t mean they are stronger. Even one member of the Hobgoblin race can defeat them as they are the evolution of the Goblin species. They''re stronger than average humans, though, and also, they release a foul odor stronger than most Goblins have. Raul''s Burly Goblins'' were not releasing a bad odor, though, and they also look stronger than the Burly Goblins that I''ve fought and read about. It must be because they''re summoned and they can get stronger according to the summoners'' strength, and maybe they were also trained by Raul. "So shall we get to the point? Do you know who ordered those people to attack our house, Meria?" Father inquired from Meria. "...Sadly, I do not. I only know that an attack was going to happen to your family, forgive me." Meria answered, looking apologetic. "Then may I inquire as to why you knew in advance of the event that had happened recently? It wasn''t just a day or months advance, it was a whole 12 years in advance that you gave the warning to us." Father questioned. So it really was like that. The reason that Meria keeps visiting here was to warn us about this event. Although it''s just a guess, I think I know how Meria knew about the event that happened recently. Those were my thoughts while looking at Meria, waiting to hear her answer to my father''s inquiry. "This... Can you all promise first that you will not leak a word of what I''m going to say next. The answer that I''m going to give is a secret that only me and my mother knows. Even my father does not know of this, and my mother and I had planned on keeping it that way as long as possible." All of the people in the room, which was me, father and mother, all nodded and promised to not leak a word of what Meria was going to say. Raul, Martha and the other servants of the house were outside. It was for the sake of this secret discussion so it will not leak out, even if most of the servants here are trustworthy, it was still a necessary thing to do. Still, I don''t know why Meria is getting so secretive about this, I mean even though Fate Magic was a lost and forgotten magic like my Origin Magic, which consists of ¡¾Mana Manipulation¡¿, it was still not to the point that you need to be this secretive, like you are gonna get punished for knowing how to use it. Fate Magic, like the name suggests, was a magic pertaining to fate. It was a mysterious magic, even the books on ¡¶Library¡· has little information about it, but, of course, it was just the information on the 1st floor, there must be more information about it on the higher floors. According to the books, the people that have Fate Magic were said to be blessed by the Gods. Although it was just a conjecture, there were many people who believed that it was the truth. It may have to do with the fact that only known magic that was written on the books are, ¡¾Clairvoyance¡¿, ¡¾Oracle¡¿, ¡¾Blessing¡¿ and ¡¾Change of Fate¡¿. Even the information on the said magics were very limited. ¡¾Clairvoyance¡¿ is a magic that enables you to see the future events. This is my guess on the magic that Meria used. ¡¾Oracle¡¿ is a magic that lets you speak with the Gods, occasionally you will even hear them reply. I wonder if that God is the one they''re talking about. ¡¾Blessing¡¿ is a magic that increases your luck or fortune. The information on the subject was sketchy at best, as you don''t have a definitive way to know whether it really does increase your luck or fortune. Coincidentally, there is a spell called ¡¾Blessing¡¿ in Holy Magic, which is used by the church, it clad your body with the holy element and increase your resistance to curses. Lastly,¡¾Change of Fate¡¿. The information on this magic is almost non-existent. The only clue you have is basically the name of the magic. As I finished going over such thoughts, the discussion continues. "I have an ability called ¡¾Precognition¡¿, it gives me visions of future. Events like the one that happened recently." Meria said with a serious expression. Hou, so I was wrong on my guess huh? It was not Fate Magic, instead, it was an ability. I wonder what abilities are? "An ability huh? Yuki, you seem confused. It''s probably because it''s the first time you''ve heard of the term [Ability], am I right?" My mother''s first words on this discussion were this. She was looking a bit proud because she finally had the chance to join in on the conversation. "Yes mother, I believe it is my first time hearing of such term, could you please enlighten your son on this matter?" I inquired while looking humble to please my mother who was looking prideful of her success in entering the conversation. "Then allow me to inform you on the term called [Ability]. Abilities are powerful magic, although I said magic, it isn''t like magic at all! It doesn''t use external and internal mana like magic, instead it only uses the mana inside the body to function. Abilities are very rare, only 1 in a 100 million could have an ability. Abilities are said to be bestowed by Gods upon birth." Father followed up before the mother could explain. Hou, so it really isn''t Fate Magic, instead, it''s just like my power ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ based on its function. So it was called ability huh? I wonder if the people that have abilities are reincarnated from Earth like me. It shouldn''t be the case because the first time I talked to Meria I used honorifics, which only resulted in her being puzzled. Not being able to recognize why I called her name with it. Which reminds me, I think I''m slowly forgetting the habit of using honorifics, it should be good as I don''t really want to be looked at weirdly because of my strange habits. "Hey, Sirius! Why did you steal my spotlight? I was supposed to be the one who explain that to Yuki!" Mother shouted angrily at father. "Does it matter whether it is you or I, who explain it to Yuki? Besides, you stole my chance to show off to Yuki this morning too!" Father answered, nonchalantly. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. "Of course, it matters! And you''re still upset about that? Aren''t you being a cry baby for just a simple reason?" "Simple reason? Isn''t what you''re complaining about, a simple reason? And don''t call me a cry baby, you old woman!" Father argued. "W-wha-? O-old woman? Who are you calling an old woman? Are you looking to be incinerated? You girly man!" Mother shouted, looking angry while pointing at Father. "Bring it old hag! I''ll take you on anytime! Be careful not to break your back while we''re at it." Father mocked. They were glaring at each other, to the point where you could even see sparks. How does that even work? Anyway, even though they sound like they''re having a serious fight, it''s just playful bickering of a married couple. It''s sweet, almost to the point where I feel like I''m gonna puke. I wish they could refrain from doing such things in the middle of a conversation, or better yet, stop doing it in front of me. Ah, I feel like using ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ to get out of this room. Such were my thoughts while releasing an annoyed sigh. Meria POV After Yuki carried me to his house they invited me to dinner. Even though I''m supposed to be under suspicion as an accomplice of the assassins in the recent attack, they didn''t restrain me or cast hateful glares. Although Sirius was looking at me with wary eyes, there was no trace of malicious intent. Yuki was also looking at me with his usual gaze, although it was usual for him to do so, as he is always in a state of deep thought, I wish he would, at least, refrain from doing so after he carried me like that. It might cause a misunderstanding, you know? While having a beet red face and avoiding eye contact with him, I entertained such thoughts. "You should eat more. You need some fat on your body, you''re too skinny. Boys don''t like a girl who is too skinny, you know? Maybe it could also fix that flat chest problem that you were complaining to me about." Big sister Rena proclaimed loudly so that everyone at the table could hear. "W-w-wha, Big sister! W-what are you saying? I didn''t complain about such stuff at all! It''s not true at all!" I shouted with a face as red as a tomato. I almost jumped out of my seat. "Haha, I was just jesting. Calm down. If you don''t want me to reveal some real personal secrets, you better eat more!" Big sister Rena said while grinning mischievously. "Uuh, you''re a bully, big sister Rena. I''ll tell mom about this!" I complained. "Haha, that should be good. The last time we fought was decades ago, she should have gotten stronger by now. It would also be great if she could visit here, at least once." Big sister Rena said gleefully. Big sister Rena and my mom were born in the same generation. Based on family relations, technically Big sister Rena should be my aunt, but because Devils are basically immortal, they don''t use it. Members of the Devil Family still use Mother and Father when addressing the birth parents and everyone else in the Devil family, they will use Big Sister/Brother if older by a century. They were also rivals back in those days, they were very famous as well. They were called ''Cold Flame Duo'' when they were still adventuring around the continent. Big sister had, at least, an S adventurer rank and was given a title of Lvl 3 High Mage only one level before she could reach the Royal Class Level. As for my mom, because she is still adventuring, she is now an SS class adventurer and a Lvl 2 Royal Mage. We finished the meal after 30 minutes. It was very shameful, but the one who ate the most food was me. It was because of Big sister Rena threatening me, and absolutely not about the breast thing, alright? While I was making excuses inside my head, Yuki was still staring at me with a deep gaze that can even swallow you whole if you''re not careful. Although it is impossible, is he possibly thinking perverted things about me while looking at me with those black eyes? I mean he is at that age of puberty... No, no, no! That kind of thinking from him is really impossible. Why am I even thinking of such thoughts? While I was arguing with myself, he was still looking at me with that deep gaze which you''ll most likely mistake for a gaze filled with love and lust if you only met him recently. Those were my thoughts which only caused my beet red face to turn crimson red. It looks like my head was gonna release steam if this continue anymore. "Meria, wait a moment. Stay where you are." Yuki ordered while he stood up from his seat at the table. Right when I stood up, he suddenly told me those words. He was also coming to where I am standing. Awawa, what is he going to do? He was slowly reaching his right hand towards me. Huh? D-d-don''t tell me he is... No, no, no, that is impossible! Yet why is he reaching for me? It looks like he''s reaching for my head. T-then he really is g-going to k-k-kiss me! B-but why? Should I move away? But it would hurt his feelings, and I don''t want him to misunderstand that I don''t like him... not that I like him or anything, nope I don''t like him at all... maybe just a little? A-anyways, this is too fast! I mean he is still young, and I''m not even that beautiful... Aaahh, whatever! I don''t care anymore! My head is a mess at this moment. I just closed my eyes and prepare for whatever happens. I only realized that it was a bad idea as it only made me even more nervous. And my heart is beating so loud I was afraid that it was audible to everyone in the room. BADUMP!! BADUMP!! BADUMP!! "Your temperature is above the normal. Do you want some medicine? We can postpone the discussion after you''re feeling better." Yuki suggested worryingly, putting his hands on my forehead to check my temperature. Eeeehh? Is that it? Where''s my kiss... not that I was waiting expectantly for it. Right, I''m not waiting for it, I''m not a pervert who is waiting for a 13-year-old boy to kiss me, yup I''m definitely not a pervert! "N-no I''m fine. I just need to go to the bathroom for a moment. Excuse me for awhile." I said while I saw Big sister Rena trying to hold her laughter. I need to refocus myself. The matter that we will discuss will be a serious one. It won''t do if they don''t take me seriously on a matter of such importance. End of chapter eleven Chapter Twelve: Unknown Enemy Chapter Twelve: Unknown Enemy Yuki POV Only after 20 minutes did they finally stopped their bickering. There was a big hole in the living room that lead to outside, big enough that you can go through it without difficulty. The cause of it was my mother who used a ¡¾Fireball¡¿ towards my father, only to miss because he used ¡¾Shadow Step¡¿ in the nick of time. Although the ¡¾Fireball¡¿ missed, mother followed it with a punch towards the place where father reappeared. The punch connected, leading to the now bruised face father. He had an ugly expression while mumbling words like "If you weren''t a woman" and "it was just a lucky hit..." to himself. "What was that?" My mother said while releasing a frightening aura. "N-n-nothing. Nothing at all! I was just thinking about how beautiful you are and how good your punch was." Father cringed after he felt that frightening aura. He was smiling with cold sweat all over his face while he said those words of flattery without a hint of sarcasm. Combined with his swollen cheeks, it was a funny sight. His original handsome appearance like a proud Lion was nowhere to bee seen. I guess this tells you who wears the pants in this family, and it definitely isn''t my father. Even I, who is always indifferent am afraid of her. Though it was the same case on Earth, where I was afraid of girls and avoid them like the plague. There was a girl that I got along with back then, but aside from her, I didn''t even talk with other girls, only replying with one or two words when they talk to me. While I was wondering if the girl was doing fine on Earth, a laugh came out of Meria who had kept quiet for awhile. Not the evil kind of laugh of course. "I''m sorry for my rude behavior, I just couldn''t help myself. It''s always lively here. Even though there was the earlier incident, it''s like it never happened at all! The way big sister Rena argue with Sirius is very sweet and funny, it didn''t even feel like you both were arguing at all, instead, it felt like you were just playing. I would like you to tell that to the wall, which is already non-existent because of the ¡¾Fireball¡¿ that was thrown at it. Judging by the size of that ¡¾Fireball¡¿, it was likely that my mother was serious and was aiming on inflicting 3rd degree burns all over my father''s body. Anyway, Meria is an only child and her mother was always away adventuring, her father has the position of the 9th seat in the 13 Diablos, which are the most powerful within the Devils with the exception of the Devil Empress, according to what I read in the ¡¶Library¡·, that is. Weirdly, all the books about the Devils Empress''s was filled with things like ''she is the most beautiful in Isaiah'', ''she is the cutest existence in Isaiah'' and ''when you look at her, you won''t be able to think of other women anymore'', which is pretty creepy as the books were written by different people from various races, it was almost like they were hypnotized. Strangely enough, I didn''t find any book like this outside of the ¡¶Library¡· even though it was one of the books that have the most quantity in the ¡¶Library¡·, aside from the books from Earth, of course. Back to the point, I think one of the reasons that Meria likes to come here, is because she is always alone in her house, with her mother and father always away, making her feel lonely. The maids and her mount Fifi are the only companies she has in that house. "Haaa? Who will be sweet to this guy? Look at his swollen face! Funny is the right word for it! Hahaha." Mother laugh aloud. "You..." Father was almost speechless only letting a single word out, because of mother''s shameless remarks. I would really like it if they stop arguing soon. If this keeps up, the discussion won''t ever progress. My train of thoughts returned to the topic at hand. 3rd Person''s POV Meanwhile, outside of the Human Country Rolen. There was a different discussion happening, which involves the Blacklion household. "I have come to report my observations, my Lord. It is as you guessed. The child''s parents were the ones who eliminated the group that we sent. We didn''t catch a glimpse of the boy at all!" A black hooded person reported with a servile tone. "Hmmm. I already expected that the parents will be the only ones fighting, but I expected that we have at least one person who has seen the child''s appearance before we attack. I guess it was a failure huh? Still, this won''t hinder us from capturing the child. Send more men to monitor every movement of the family. Keep monitoring even the simplest of details, even the servants activities. Do not let them escape from our sight." Ordered the tall and handsome man with short blonde hair. "This servant will do as ordered. There''s also one more thing my lord. We spotted the child of ''Serene Ice Saintess'' heading into the Blacklion household, just after the annihilation of the attacking group." "Huh? Shouldn''t the day she visits the household be a day after our attack? Well, it shouldn''t matter. If what you say was true, then judging by the time she got there, she would be suspected as the one who planned this attack. Did you see how they reacted after she suddenly appeared?" "My apologies my Lord. We planned to follow her to see what was going to happen, but before we got close we felt a strong aura probe us. It wasn''t the aura of Sirius or Rena Blacklion. The possibility that the person found us was high, so I ordered my group to scatter and retreat before we were captured. Most of us had gotten away, there were 3 people that are still missing. We suspect them to have been captured. Although they had gotten captured, I''ve activated the curse magic that was Inflicted upon them that will make them explode, so they won''t reveal any information." Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. "Hmm. A person with a strong aura, and it''s not the ''Grim Reaper'' or the ''Rage Flame Queen''? Could the Blacklion Family have another strong expert hidden in the shadows? The informant didn''t mention anything about another expert, could it be that he doesn''t know either? Looks like we need to postpone our attack before we get more information about this mysterious expert. You may go now, and tell Lorelei to come here." "Yes my Lord." The hooded person said and bowed. After the hooded person left, the blonde haired man stood up from his seat and looked out of the window, he was staring at the direction where the Blacklion house was supposed to be. His gaze was resolute but it also had a hint of sorrow. If there was another person here, especially a girl, the person would be stunned at this scene that looks like a work of art. Especially with the person''s wings that looks like an angel''s wings. Yuki POV "Alright, since the conversation is going nowhere. Meria and I will be the only ones talking, mother and father will just listen. If there are any objections, speak now." I proclaimed while looking at the people present. Father looked like he wants to protest, only to shut his mouth tight because of mother''s hostile gaze. Looks like the discussion will finally restart. As I was having such thoughts, I looked directly into Meria''s eyes to ask her a question, but for some reason, she suddenly broke eye contact by looking down at the floor. Is my gaze really that bad? It was the same case on Earth, most people always look away when I make eye contact with them for some time. I cleared away such unnecessary thoughts and asked my first question to Meria. "Is your full name Meria Devil. And are you the daughter of Eunice and Devon Devil?" I inquired. "Yes, I am Meria Devil, daughter to Eunice and Devon Devil. From the 13th household of the Devil family." She answered even though she was confused as to why I asked such a question. "Your ability is called ¡¾Precognition¡¿, and this ability allows you to foresee future events, am I correct to assume so?" "Yes, what you said is correct. Although I don''t have any control on what I will foresee and how long the vision lasts, it only has one condition, and that is that the event should more or less involve myself and anyone I am close to. Also, I can only foresee one future event, I cannot foresee any future events if a previous event that I foresaw still haven''t occurred." Meria answered. Hou, isn''t this ability pretty useless? At least, it isn''t on par with the abilities that I have. There are too many restrictions on the ability, especially on the limitation on the usage of the ability. If my guess is right, there should be another problem with this ability. "You said that you foresaw that there will be an attack mounted on our family. Why didn''t you warn us of the exact date? Does your ability not know what the exact time the event will occur at? But if that were the case, you shouldn''t have known that the attack is going to happen today and you would''ve not come here a day before your original day of visit." "Yes it is as you say, my ability ¡¾Precognition¡¿ is a bit vague and it does not include the date the event will occur. It is why I couldn''t warn you the exact day of the attack. The reason that I knew that today was the day the event will occur is because my ability... foresaw another event while the event is occurring." Meria answered but she was hesitant on the last sentence. She said that sentence with a grave tone in her voice and her eyes were a bit moist. I have a bad feeling about this. And it looks like I''m not the only one, as my father also has a serious expression on his face. Mother also noticed, she wanted to rush over to the side of Meria to comfort her, but refrained from doing so, as she knew it was not the right time. "...May I ask what happened in the event that you foresaw?" I inquired, even though I have a bad feeling about the things that she will say next. "...On my vision, this house was on fire, destruction prevalent in the surrounding areas, there were a lot of corpses on the blood filled snow... and..." She answered, staring at the floor all the while. I can also hear a barely audible sobbing coming from her. I closely knitted my brows while looking at her. By the tone of her voice when she was answering, there were no fluctuations from the start till now. She answered all my questions truthfully. "And? What else happened in your vision Meria?" Mother asked anxiously because she saw that I wasn''t planning on inquiring further from her. "... Both of you... Big sister Rena and Sirius... Were killed..." End of chapter twelve Author Note: Just giving a shot for a cliffhanger. I''m not really good at it, though. Probably because I hate cliffhangers. Anyway, if there''s something confusing you, feel free to comment, I''ll try to answer them with the least amount of information, to avoid spoilers. Thanks for reading~ Chapter Thirteen: Nalia Frost Wasps Chapter Thirteen: Nalia Frost Wasps The room grew silent and only the barely audible sobbing of Meria can be heard. The atmosphere is getting awkward. Father was tightly knitting his brows as if in deep contemplation. Mother moved closer to Meria and put her in her embrace to comfort her. I was the only one with the usual calm expression, but deep inside, I was full of questions. Who is the mastermind behind the attack? What are their motives? Is it enmity or is there something they want in this household? According to my calculations, the attack earlier should be just them testing the water. Or is it a provocation? Are they using fear of an unknown enemy for psychological warfare? Tsk, I need more information to get a better understanding of the enemy. "If we are done with the discussion, I shall take my leave. I will be in my room." I announced before proceeding towards my room. "...Yuki." Meria whispered worryingly. ... Meria''s ability... Could that God have something to do with her visions? I could understand if it''s just once, but she foresaw two future events mostly involving my family, it¡¯s just too much of a coincidence. Even though I don''t know how her ability works, I''m pretty sure it''s not normal. I could''ve asked her, but I refrained myself, as she''ll most likely don''t know either. By the looks of her when she announced what she foresaw, there''s probably a low chance of changing the outcome. As I was having such thoughts, it suddenly hit me... "Why did she have that expression when I first met her earlier?" She had that melancholic expression, like we''ve done something irreversible that will lead to a tragedy. Which reminds me, she warned us of the attack, but she didn''t tell us what the outcome she foresaw was. Something is amiss. She didn''t tell a lie, but it doesn''t mean she told us everything. Should I go back to question her? No, if I''m going to inquire her about this, it should be in private. The possibility of her being an enemy is rising. If it''s necessary... I would need to resort on using rougher methods to get her to answer. As I was having such thoughts, I noticed my mood becoming bad. I temporarily put aside such thoughts, as I need to focus on a task that I need to do. I used ¡¾Dominion: White City¡¿, I closed my eyes and focused my mind. When I opened my eyes, the scenery has changed to a place where there were towering buildings everywhere, it was my domain, the ¡¶White City¡·. Although only my consciousness is here and my body was still in my room. I proceed towards the west side of the city. I stopped walking when I was in front of a small building. This small building was called an arcade back on Earth. I proceed through the entrance. There were many video games, redemption games, racing games and merchandisers all over the place, they don''t function, though. In the middle of the arcade, there were three unconscious men tied on a chair, they were tied up by a magic reinforced rope to the chair. These people were the ones that I captured earlier, I suspect them to be the scout of the people behind the attack. Although I said I was the one that captured them, the ones that really captured them were my clones that were made with my magic called ¡¾Shadow Clones¡¿. ¡¾Shadow Clones¡¿ is one of the advance magic of Dark magic. My first thoughts on this particular magic was a certain blonde ninja doing mischiefs with the clones. But unlike the technique of that blonde ninja, the clones that were made by ¡¾Shadow Clones¡¿ looks like shadows of oneself. The clones that were made by ¡¾Shadow Clones¡¿ are generally weaker than the one who cast it, only having a third of the strength and agility of the caster. Worst of all, the clones can''t use any kind of magic even a simple support spell. It took 5 clones to take down a single one of them. This not only shows how weak the clones are, but it also shows how strong the enemies were. It was only a scout, yet it took 5 clones to defeat one of them. One must know, just 2 of these could take down any normal C-rank adventurer with ease and could fight evenly with 3 Minotaurs. Of course, it doesn''t mean that a C-rank adventurer could even fight a single Minotaur, even if it was 3 C-rank adventurers they''ll still have a hard time. Although Minotaurs are strong,I they''re also dumber than a rock. A perfect example of brawns over brains. So for me who specializes in agility and strategy, they might as well be rocks. These guys should, at least, have a strength of a B rank adventurer. Though they might have used magic to resist, but even though my clones only have a third of my speed, it¡¯s still more than enough to dodge simple magic attacks. Their teamwork is top notch too! To be able to employ people with the strength of a B rank adventurer as mere scouts. This shows that the ones behind the attack, are not ordinary. Judging from the tattoos on their arms, they should be part of the Assassin''s Guild. The tattoos should be a rank of strength among the assassins''. Though I could search for the information in the ¡¶Library¡·, I refrained myself momentarily from doing so, as there could be more information I need to search later. Using ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ to only search a single piece of information will be a waste. I need to interrogate them first. As I was having such thoughts, it seems that they have awakened from their fake sleep. "It seems you guys have finally stopped pretending to be asleep. Did you get tired of thinking as to what my intentions are? Anyway, because I am generous, feel free to ask any questions, I''ll answer them to the best of my ability. You better start now because soon, you will be the one answering my questions." I said in a mock-humble tone. Though it was not the case for my eyes, which was filled with indifference. "Is your name, perhaps, Yuki Blacklion?" The one in the middle inquired. "Hou, how surprising. Yes, I am indeed named Yuki Blacklion. For you to actually know of my existence is very surprising. Not only that, to firmly assume that I am named ''Yuki Blacklion'', means that you more or less know that I was still alive. I wonder where you guys got that information. Or to be precise, where did your employers get such information." I asked. The guy in the middle immediately shut his mouth, afraid that he will leak even more information. The other two was the same, they were definitely not going to talk. That''s fine, the talking will continue later on. The question is how did they know that I''m still alive? The only ones that know that I''m still alive should only be my parents, Raul, Martha, Meria and her mother. Even the few maids and butlers don''t know that I''m still alive. The child that is named ''Yuki Blacklion'' should be publicly known as already have been deceased, 2 years ago. Even the Human King should have no idea that I''m still currently breathing. Is it actually possible that Meria is really an enemy, and she is the one that gave them the information? No, that shouldn''t be possible, there are too many inconsistencies in that theory. First of all, the way that the 3 of this guys looked at me was full of suspicions and doubt whether I''m the real Yuki Blacklion. If Meria really gave information about us, she would''ve described my whole appearance to them. Secondly, I can''t trace any hints of malicious intent from her. Although, from time to time, I see her having a creepy look on her face whenever she looks at me without me knowing. I temporarily erase such thoughts, as it is not necessary. I have three people here to answer my questions, thinking could be done later. Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. "Based on you silence, I assume you guys haven''t got any questions left for me to answer. A pity, you didn''t take advantage of my generosity. Now it¡¯s time for my interrogation to start. I shall give another generous offer to you guys, you will give me all the information I want, in exchange for your freedom, that is the easy way. If not, then I will torture the information out of you, the hard way." I proclaim, smiling while I took out a dagger from my storage ring. "Hahahaha. You think that you, a mere child, can make us, professional assassins, talk? Assassins are trained to have the endurance to resist torture. How can a child like you possibly make us talk?" The guy in the right sneered. Hou, it looks like I have my candidate for the last one to be tortured. Judging by the tone of his voice, it seems he''s rather afraid of being tortured, or, at least, have little experience in them. It would be better if he sees his comrades being tortured. "Yeah, we ain''t afraid of a stinkin'' brat. Besides, you won''t have enough time to torture us, they will soon activate the Curse magic that was set upon us. Once that happens, good luck getting information out of us! Hahahaha!" The guy in the left mocked. For assassins, who I think should be quieter, these two guys seems a bit too noisy. Though I can''t blame them, as they think this will be the last words they will say. Only the guy in the middle is quiet, he was drenched in cold sweat, he must''ve noticed it, unlike his two idiotic subordinates. "Oh, you mean that curse? Your employers have already activated them, long before you guys work up." I said. "Ridiculous!!" The right guy shouted. "What nonsense are ye talking about brat? If that was the case, then why are we still alive?" The left guy questioned. "Ridiculous? You''ve been here for at least 8 hours if your employer still hasn''t activated the curse, wouldn''t that be even more ridiculous?" I ridiculed. Right after I said those words they''ve become silent for about a minute. It looks like they have at least a bit of intelligence to get the hint. Their expressions became sullen after contemplating, and they''ve begun releasing cold sweat. "...Did you remove it?" The middle one inquired after being silent for awhile. "Hou, how''d you guess that it was removed? Doesn''t matter, I''m not really trying to hide it. Yes, I did remove the curse magic ¡¾Detonate¡¿ on your bodies, technically in your head. Though, on how I did it, will be my very own secret. But since I''m still feeling generous, I''ll give you a hint. Did you know that Curse magic is connected to Dark Magic? In fact, Curse magic started as just a part of a branch spell in Dark Magic." They wore a confused expression on their faces, it looks like they didn''t get it. Well, that''s normal, if I didn''t have ¡¾Library Magic¡¿ then I would''ve never known about it either. It seems that book that I''ve found the information form, no longer exist in Isaiah. At least, it should already be among the ancient documents as the language of the book was unfamiliar to me. That language isn''t used by any race in Isaiah that I know of, so it should already be an extinct language. "Okay, my generosity has reached its limit. It seems that you won''t pick the easy way, so I''ll need to do it the hard way." I said taking out a jar of mist, filled with frost both externally and internally. "W-what is that? What are you going to do with that?" The guy on the right started to panic and whined. What a pathetic assassin, I thought assassins were more calm and collected. The other two have fear written all over their face, but at least, they aren''t as pathetic as the guy on the right. "Did you know of an insect type monster called Ice Wasp?" I answered his question with another question while tapping the frosted jar with the dagger I took out earlier. "They are weak monsters that give you frostbites when stung and appears with the coming of winter. They are mostly called pests instead of monsters, though. People always post extermination requests for them, at the Adventurers Guild when it''s winter season. Mostly it¡¯s a rank D mission if it''s just an infestation, rank C if there''s a hive nearby. This tells how weak they are. But did you know it''s not the same case in Nalia? They''re the one of most, if not the most, dangerous monsters in Nalia. People even changed their name because of how the difference in danger levels they show in the two areas. They''re called the Nalia Frost Wasps. They''re 5 times smaller than Ice Wasps. I''ll assume you don''t know them or haven''t seen one, as most who have seen them are either dead or currently being larvae food." I continued before they can answer, it was at that time that the mist inside the jar started to move. But if you look closely, you''ll see that it wasn''t a mist at all, instead, they were minuscule flying insects. Their faces are now distorted with fear, the guy on the right was even chattering his teeth. "The Ice Wasps'' way of hunting food is interesting, you know? They first hide under the snow or ice, and when an unlucky prey comes near, they''ll swarm the target. They also like to hunt when there''s a blizzard, they look like snowflakes, so you won''t know even if you were already surrounded. They''ll get under your skin, pierce through your orifices and worst they''ll even go through your genitals and rectum. They''ll freeze your body from the inside out. Worst of all, the Nalia Frost Wasps larvae like eating their food is alive, so if you''re really unlucky, you''ll experience hell while being alive." I described while I accidentally let out a chuckle. They were all pale now, their cold sweat gone, probably because they''ve been releasing them non-stop since earlier. I extend the hand that was holding the jar, towards the guy on the right. "N-no, don''t get those things near me!!" He bellowed while his face was distorted with fear. "Shall we get started with the interrogation? Kufufu." I let out a short maniacal laugh. End of chapter thirteen. Footnote: He is 13 here, in case you forgot. And the event where he was assumed dead hasn''t been in the chapters yet~ Author''s Note: The plot thickens, awooo!! Anyway, the event that happened when he was 11 will be written in a side story. There''s one point I''ve been noticing, Yuki has whip for a weapon, there''s bondage, this chapter was full of torture info and there''s that ''kufufu'' laugh... It''s happening earlier than I thought... Thanks for reading~ Chapter fourteen: Librarian Chapter Fourteen: Librarian The torture continued for about 2 hours, more or less. The only one left untortured is the guy in the right. The smell of blood and urine wafted in the frost aired room. The blood was from the two who were now being nested by thousands of Nalia Ice Wasps in their body, while the urine came from the only guy who was left. The blood that was on the floor was because of the two who bit off their tongue, hoping to commit suicide only to fail to do so. There were no blood that was caused by the Nalia Frost Wasps as the blood has already been in stasis once the blood had contact with it. Naturally, the blood hasn''t been completely frozen, only enough to slow down blood flow. Of course if it were a normal human from Earth, I doubt that the person would still be alive. Only because of the abnormal body physique and anatomy of the humans in Isaiah, which I read about in the ¡¶Library¡·, that they are still alive, not that it''s a good thing for them. Their strengthened body which is as strong as a B-rank adventurer''s is also helping. The Nalia Frost Wasps also had something to do on why they''re still living even though the two already retracted their mana to lower their body resistance so that they could be relieved of their agony. As I was preparing to inquire if the last person will be kind enough to provide me some information that I haven''t yet acquired from the other two. My mind drifted to the earlier scene which made me knit my brows and frown, I deeply contemplated on the earlier scene. ''This matter is more troublesome than I thought.'' I muttered in my mind. ... 2 hours earlier "Shall we get started?" I informed The guy in the middle, who I presume to be higher ranking than his two subordinates, was the first victim I picked for the Nalia Frost Wasps. When I released the Nalia Frost Wasps, they first started encircling him for about a minute making some parts of his body covered with a layer of frost because of the ice element that the Nalia Frost Wasps were emitting. Still, even with that and the detailed description that I explained on what will happen to him, he still didn''t bat an eye. He looked at me with the eyes filled with tranquility like he was prepared to meet death, it wasn''t filled with enmity or malice at all! After that he closed his eyes indicating he was ready. ''What a brave person. All assassins should be like this, not like those two.'' I mused in my mind while looking at the other two who were shivering in fear even though they weren''t the ones being covered in frost. "What an interesting person, if you weren''t destined to die, I believe you will accomplish great things. Alas, this will be the time of your death. Two of my principles are ''Everything in life is a simple game, whether you play or not the game will start nonetheless'' and ''There are only winners and losers nothing in between, the winner takes it all while the losers loses everything.''. The game has started and you and I are on opposing sides, which means you are my enemy. I won this round, which mean you had lost. In this type of game, I believe the winner are the ones who will live, while the losers life is in the hands of the winner." I stated while I took off and started wiping my fogged glasses because of the cold moist air that the Nalia Ice Wasps were emitting. The 3 guys suddenly became quiet, the atmosphere between the three became filled with hostility. The guy in the middle who was previously in a state of tranquility, became hostile and was trying to get out of his restraints. The same with both the guys in the left and right. Although they tried, it was all useless effort as the ropes are reinforced by magic. The only thing they''ve accomplished was to make the Nalia Ice Wasps even more aggressive. The middle guy''s skin was turning paler. As I was being puzzled by their sudden change of behavior, the middle guy began to bellow at me. "Bastard! Do you think you are God? You are not the one to decide on who will live or die! Playing with lives like a game? God''s wrath will descend upon you! Even if I die and suffer today, you will suffer more in hell!" He bellowed while the guy in the left was still struggling to free himself like a madman. Can''t this people understand what I''m talking about, do they only know how take it in literally? Anyway, is he a worshiper? I knew that there were many assassins that were devoted to the God of the Dark Elves the Vengeance God Ishmael, but the words that he is mentioning indicates that it isn''t the Vengeance God they''re worshiping. I have a clue on what church they''re worshiping, and the thought that they might be the enemy makes me scrunch my forehead in the possibility of that. "Hmm? You say God will punish me? What a joke, does your so called God even exist? Assuming that your God exists, what does that have to do with me killing you? Playing with lives? I don''t think that is the case because as soon as you lost to me, whether you live ot die, I will be the judge of that." I affirmed in a mocking tone. "Y-you Devil''s spawn!!! Ye dare to question the existence of the Goddess Eldina?" The guy in the left exploded. First of all, I am devil''s spawn. Secondly, it looks like my provocation worked. The left guy blurted out such information without him even knowing. The guy in the middle, even though he is as angry as him, still knew that I was intentionally provoking them so that they will slip up. He immediately glares at the left guy, even though he was already being encased in a thick layer of frost it seems like he doesn''t feel it at all! The guy in the left stopped moving and had the face saying ''what the hell did I do wrong?''. Even though the guy in the middle tried to conceal who they were worshiping by saying it was a God they''re worshiping and not a Goddess, the left guy still blurted such information, and he doesn''t even know what he had done was wrong. It seems my guess is correct. They are from the Judicium church, which worships the Judgement Goddess Eldina. She is also the Avian''s Goddess. Although she is the Goddess of the Avians, there are many people with different races that worships her, especially those that have deep enmity against the demon race. This lead to the Judicium Church being the second church with the most believers, with the first being the Clemente Church who worships the Merciful Goddess Mari-Ne. The thought that the Judicium Church might be our enemy is giving me a headache. There are few factions in this world that I find hard to deal with, the Judicium Church is one of them. If I had the chance to pick, I would rather fight both the whole Beastman and Human race at the same time, at least they know when to retreat and are conscious of the casualties. The Judicium Church is practically the opposite of that, they will never retreat and doesn''t care about there casualties as long as they accomplish the mission given by their Goddess Eldina. I guess it can''t be helped, the game has already begun. If the enemy is really the Judicium Church, I could more or less figure out their motives. As I was contemplating on such thoughts, the Nalia Frost Wasps began to ''preserve'' their food. They started to encircle around the middle guy. With the middle guy''s body parts being covered with a layer of frost, the body temperature naturally was dropping to a dangerous degree, with that the blood flow began to slow down. Of course with his body being stronger than a normal human, he won''t die even in this state. Just as the Nalia Frost Wasps were about to enter his body, blood flowed out of his mouth and there was a sound of him swallowing. He bit off his own tongue, huh? Although he won''t die quickly if he just bit off his tongue normally, that''s not the case if he bit through a major vein though, which I''m pretty sure he did looking at the amount of blood dripping from his mouth. Judging by the gulping sound earlier and his now blue face, he should''ve swallowed the part of his tongue so that he will suffocate. I guess him being an assassin isn''t just him having that title, a true assassin should know how to suicide properly. Such were my train of thoughts while the middle guy already looks like he was going to die. It looks like the guy in the left did the same thing, as blood was dripping from his mouth. The right guy looks like he was hesitating on whether he should also follow the actions of his comrades or not. "I''m sorry to disappoint you guys but your actions are futile. You think I would let you guys die that easily? I don''t know if you both can hear this but don''t you think the mist in this place is too much?" I non-chalantly informed. The mist in the surrounding area was too much for the Nalia Frost Wasps to be the cause of it. Even though the two guys were currently suffocating, they''re still conscious enough to focus on their surroundings. "I''ve already explained to you the characteristics of the Nalia Frost Wasps, but what about their queen? Of course Nalia Frost Wasps being special in the Ice Wasps species, their queen should naturally be special too. There''s only one ability that the Nalia Frost Wasps Queen possess, excluding the ability to give birth to the eggs, it''s called ¡¾Frozen Lifeline¡¿. It is a magic exclusive to the Nalia Frost Wasps Queen''s race, it releases an odorless white mist that looks like normal mist. You won''t find out that it isn''t just a normal mist until it goes into your body. Once the mist enters your body, you will find that your whole body will be numbed. Though, I think you guys didn''t notice it as you were bellowing like monkeys earlier." I ridiculed while I show them the Nalia Frost Queen that was in a container that has holes for the mist to exit. The Nalia Frost Queen''s appearance was it was bigger than a normal Nalia Frost Wasps, it also didn''t have any wings on its back. Although those were big difference, the most redeeming factor was the color of the Nalia Frost Queen which is violet, different from the blue color of the Nalia Frost Wasps. "The effect of the magic ¡¾Frozen Lifeline¡¿ is that the one who is inflicted by it will not die no matter what even if they''re poisoned or fatally wounded, excluding the decapitation of the head and complete destruction of the body. Even if you stab the head with a knife it¡¯s very unlikely for it to result to death. Although it has the time limit of 3 minutes, if you don''t cure your fatal wounds then you''ll die after you stop inhaling the mist. It also works on people who were dead by only a few seconds, they will be resuscitated until the magic wears off or their injuries were healed by magic during the duration of the magic. That magic should be familiar to assassins like you guys, as it is one of the magic that is the bane of the Assassins Guild. I heard that the Assassins Guild failed many missions because of this skill, which the only known user is Serene Snow Saintess, resulting to the Assassins Guild''s reputation to drop drastically. I also heard that Serene Snow Saintess was selling a pill called ''Frozen Lifeline Pill'', which has the same effect as the magic. Its price is pretty high, though, only high class nobles and wealthy merchant can afford it. Still, it concluded to the Assassins Guild''s reputation hitting rock bottom." I continued. Many people think that ''shouldn''t they just aim for decapitating the head?''. Though that may sound easy, but in fact it''s not. The neck is one of the vital and most vulnerable spot in the human body so it''s natural that people will react fast if someone is trying to attack that spot. There are also alot of magic equipments that protects the neck from harm and it''s very common for people who are decently rich to have them. They might as well use high ranked magic to completely destroy the target rather than targeting the strongly protected neck. But how can high ranked magic be so easy to use? Even if they try to use it, it will attract too much attention and will easily reveal your location once you started casting the magic, with all that disadvantages for an assassin how could they possibly consider that option? While such were my train of thoughts, the Nalia Frost Wasps began to enter the bodies of the two. Because the ¡¾Frozen Lifeline¡¿ has a certain kind of pheromone, they attacked the left guy too. I guess they were getting impatient with the food right in front of them, even without my order they started to dig in... Literally. Though, I''m glad they didn''t attack the right guy. Although they were making a screaming gesture, because their vocal chords are already frozen, no sounds came out. The guy in the right who was still unharmed, was staring with eyes that was almost out of their sockets while his teeth was chattering even more so than earlier. It looks like the plan to interrogate him later will succeed, while I was thinking that, the smell of urine was smelt. ''Tch, disgusting. I''m glad I sent them here in my domain, it would have been bad if I used my secret base to interrogate them. Because the domain is created by me using ¡¾Dominion¡¿, I can just erase it with a single thought. ...Back to the present. With the two who is already dead, though not really dead because of the ¡¾Frozen Lifeline¡¿ still in effect, it¡¯s more appropriate to call it mentally dead. With their current appearance, you would be totally surprised if you say they were human. The color of their whole body was deep blue, the hair was frosted that it looks like it was ice needles, the guy in the left was bald, though. Combining with the fact that they currently have no eyes because it turned into minced meat when the Nalia Ice Wasps began to enter through it, and the constant squirming on their stomach makes them look less human-like. In short, it looks so disgusting if Hollywood ever makes something like this, I would seriously question their sanity. I can''t even comment on the lower parts of their body as it''s too gruesome. Even though I''m indifferent about this kind of things, I still have a bottom line. Looking at the guy who is still alive, mentally... I think? He was closing his eyes, shivering while he was muttering ''this is just a nightmare'' and ''save me Goddess'' over and over again. Since I was quiet for about 5 minutes because of recalling the earlier events, combined with his closed eyes, he might be thinking that I''m not here anymore. I started to talk to finally have my questions answered. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. "Hey, you..." "Hiiie!!! Stay away! I''ll do anything you want, just don''t kill me!" He cried, interrupting the words that I was gonna say. ...Well, this turned out easier than I planned, I thought I need to torture this guy to some extent to get the information out, but I guess it''s already not necessary. Whatever, it''s better if it''s easier. ...2 hours later I''m currently inside my room contemplating. The interrogation of the last guy proceeded faster than I thought, probably because I had already deduced most of the information he gave. It''s because of the information I got while conversing with the other two earlier, that lead me to a lot of clues, though it''s more like puzzle pieces that still has missing pieces. The most useful thing that the last guy said was that there seems to be a conspiracy going on within the Human Kingdom and the Judicium Church, other than that, most of the information I got from him was mostly confirmation of what I deduced earlier. With that, I already mostly completed the puzzle, though, it has missing pieces here and there. But because the puzzle is mostly completed, even if it''s missing some pieces, you''ll mostly see what the big picture is. If I have to summarize it, this are the answers I got: 1: The Judicium Church is behind the attack earlier. 2: The Judicium Church probably is dead set on completing their goal. 3: The Judicium Church''s goal is probably capturing me. They have no reason to assassination me, as I have no worth being dead. 4: Though, target is probably me, the reason is still unknown. Though, there''s a possibility that it''s because I''m the first half Human half Devil that ever existed, it isn''t a good enough reason for them attacking one of the strongest family in the Human Kingdom. 5: Somehow the information about me being alive is known by the Judicium Church. They''re at least pretty sure that I''m alive considering the fact that they risked attacking the Blacklion Family, which is one of the pillars of the Human Kingdom, this risks of incurring the wrath of the Human Kingdom as a whole. Although, combining this pieces of the puzzle you will get an answer, because there are still missing pieces, there is still a chance that the whole picture will change after acquiring this missing pieces. What''s more, I still have pieces that I don''t know where it goes correctly. A fine example for this is Meria. Because there are still inconsistencies in Meria''s earlier story, I don''t know what to think on whether she is an ally or an enemy. Another example is the Human Kingdom as a whole, because I''m not good at politics, I don''t know the current worth of the Blacklion Family in the Human Kingdom. I''m pretty sure the Blacklion Family is still important as one of the pillars of the Human Kingdom, though, on whether the Human Kingdom conspired against us with the Judicium church for a common interest or not, is puzzling me. I temporarily cast away such thoughts, there''s another person that I need to question. Whether she is an ally or not will be answered soon. Though, I wish she won''t be an enemy, if by chance she is... I will show no mercy. As I was having such cold thoughts, I already used ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ to teleport inside her room. I teleported in the shadow in the corner of the room. Strangely, she isn''t sleep in her bed. Instead she is sitting in the bed with a posture of her arms clinging on her knees. Her face looks like she was crying earlier, and now she is currently sitting with that posture looking straight at the fireplace inside her room. Currently the time could be interpreted as 1:00 AM in the middle of the night, so her not sleeping is pretty weird, though, I can''t say that as likewise I''m currently awake. Because of her crying earlier, she must be exhausted so her being awake means it''s not because she can''t sleep, instead she isn''t trying to sleep. The only reason I think that she isn''t trying to sleep is because she is waiting for something... or someone. ''Heh, so she''s been expecting me to come, huh?'' Although I''m standing within her sight, she still can''t see me because of ¡¾Shadow Walk¡¿ and I''m stepping in a shadow. So that I can reveal myself, I stepped over a shadowless spot in front of the fireplace. With that I''m no longer invisible to the sight. Meria was slightly surprised but that change quickly to a warm smile. "...Yuki, you''ve come." She whispered in a mellow voice that could cause a person''s heart to melt. "Sorry for making you wait... Meria." I said in a monotone voice. She was surprised at first because of the lack of emotion in my voice different from my earlier, but she quickly turned it to an understanding smile. "So you found out, huh? About the stuff I omitted in the explanation of my ability, earlier." She said while wearing a melancholic smile. "You seemed surprised. I thought you were waiting for me because of I found out about it." "...Eh? Y-yes, that''s exactly why I was waiting for you. N-no other reasons..." She agreed hurriedly, though it''s practically obvious that she was lying and waiting for me for another reason. I stare into her eyes directly with a questioning gaze. Though, I didn''t say anything she probably gets what I''m trying to imply, as she was avoiding my gaze and the sweat on her face was increasing. Her face is also red like a volcano waiting to explode, is her fever really that worse? As I was having such train of thought, she finally confessed on why she waiting for me earlier. "Hehehe, a-about that, it was big sister Rena''s f-fault. She told me that... t-that you''ll be visiting me later at night...to c-comfort me..." She answered bashfully, she whispered the last part very softly, if it weren''t for my good hearing no doubt I would''ve just heard gibberish. "Comfort?" I asked with my left brow raised. "E-eh? You heard that? I-I mean not that kind of ''comfort'', what I mean is c-comfort like making me stop crying and h-hugging... ugh, nevermind what I just said, please forget all that I said recently." I know what comfort means, you didn''t have to explain it to me like I''m stupid. Though, I still can''t figure out why she needs comforting, doesn''t people like to be alone when they''re sad and crying? I mean it''s a time where they''re vulnerable, wouldn''t you prefer to be alone to sort out your heart and mind? I wonder if it''s because she''s a girl... ''Tch, I''m forgetting my main objective on why I came here. Enough being distracted, It''s time to get the answer to my questions and make the puzzle a little more clearer.'' I contemplated to myself inwardly. "Meria I need to know what you omitted on the earlier discussion. Also I need to know, are you an ally or... an enemy?" I questioned with the last part being a little forceful. I know it''s pretty stupid of me to ask the last question, I mean what kind of enemy will tell the truth in this situation? But a part of me just want to ask this question no matter how stupid it is. If it was the me on my original world, I''m pretty sure I would never ask that kind of stupid question, this should be because of my emotions. With this, I''m convinced with the answer to one of the questions I had since I was reincarnated to this world, it''s that being reincarnated affected my emotions in someway. "... I understand." She answered while making eye contact with me. ... ... I''m currently inside the ¡¶Library¡·, reading the information regarding the Judicium Church, Human Kingdom and abilities. This includes the whole history of them, even story books or books that are written based on rumors wasn''t spared. Other books that aren''t focused about them and was just mentioned were read by me. Of course with thousands of books in here searching for the books I''m looking for is an impossible task, especially with the limited amount of time that I can stay here. It was with the help of the ''entity¡¯ that is living inside the ¡¶Library¡· that I can successfully read all the books that are related to what I''m searching for. Those were my thoughts as I''m currently reading a book about abilities. ''Although, I''m thankful, it would be better if ''it'' doesn''t stare at me while I''m reading'' I said to myself while I caught a glimpse of ''it'' at the corner of my eye. I met it when I came here for the 3rd time when I was 6 years old. I was ''surprised'' when I first saw it. ... 7 years ago. "Who ar-" I said while my right foot was stepping back, but before I got to finish my question it ran away with haste. It ran away at full speed on my first encounter with it, and it was fast as hell. I ran after it and even though I was running at full speed it wasn''t enough. While I was chasing it, I accidentally bumped on a bookshelf, with that many books came falling over, but because I was occupied with chasing I didn''t bother with picking them up. While I was close to losing it, to my surprise it suddenly turn back an ran towards my direction at full speed. I started to gather my mana and preparing to cast ¡¾Shadow Ball¡¿ which is like ¡¾Black Ball¡¿ but instead of exploding into black smoke, it damages the opponent it hits internally which is perfect for the situation as I don''t want the books to be damaged. Though, I might have made a big mistake as I now only realized that there isn''t any dark type elements in the surrounding or to be precise there aren''t any type of elements in the surrounding meaning that I can''t use any magic here. It was only 10 meters away, by its speed it should cover that distance in a second, I have no time to attack and I''m stuck between bookshelves which means evading is impossible, that only leaves me to defend. "Tsk, damn it." I blurted while clicking my tongue, I gathered my mana at my front and prepared my arms in an ''x'' to block the incoming attack. ''I screwed up and it might cause me my life, I just hope that this thing is just speed and no power.'' Were my current thoughts while focusing my eyes to every movement it makes. To my surprise, though, it didn''t attack me in any sort of way it just ran past me or to be precise it leapt over me. When I looked back I saw it hastily sorting out the books that I accidentally knocked over and putting it back in which I think is the same order before they were knocked over. It done it in mere seconds which left me in awe, I think there should at least be a hundred of books that I knocked over but it fixed it in seconds like nothing ever happened, after it was done it left again hastily in the opposite of my direction. "Well, that was surprising... and not very good for the heart, but because of that I clearly saw the whole appearance of it. I also gained some new information like there''s no elements in here and it also seems that there is no mana in the surrounding except for the mana inside my body. It also seems that ''it'' doesn''t mean me any harm." I murmured to myself. The appearance of ''it'' was of a goblin with dead pale skin and ugly face. If I would have to describe it more clearly, it looks like a certain cursed hobbit with an obsession to a cursed ring and calls it ''my precious'', no I think ''it looks like'' would be an understatement, it looks exactly Gollum. To reconfirm what I saw, I knocked over all the books on the bookshelves to my left and right. Sure enough, just a couple of seconds after I did that ''Gollum'' which I will now call it, came and hastily sorting and putting back the books. It looks like my eyes aren''t deceiving me, it''s an exact clone of Gollum(Sm¨¦agol). Now that I confirmed it, I''d like to know more of its capabilities. I picked up some books, about 15 in quantity, and threw them far away each in different directions. ''Lets see if you can get them all.'' I mused inwardly. Though, what came next was out of my expectations, in fast movements came 15 Gollums carrying the books I threw. It was a creepy feeling when I think that there was this many Gollums when I was walking in complete darkness with only a candleholder as my light source, and there''s no proof to say that there isn''t more Gollums hiding in here nor a proof that Gollums are the only creatures in here. Cold sweat was slowly gathering in my forehead by having this thoughts. As I was watching the Gollums put back the books in the bookshelves I suddenly felt a presence with terrifying aura behind me in just a reaching distance. "Hello, I am the Librarian..." End of chapter 14 Author''s Note (Boring): Hello this is Meganekko (Decided to call herself that) once again coming back to life. People might ask (I wish they do) why I didn''t update for this 5 or so months, well I was on a journey for enlightment (basically went on a vacation with my mom in Japan), though, I got back 2 months ago... Well, because of the 3 months of journey I have also stacked 3 months worth of novels... So yeah, you get the point... Anyways I hope this novel still has some readers, cause it''s my first and don''t really want my first to be a fail, especially now that I''ve improves somehow especially quantity-wise~ Author''s Note #2 (Important): So some of you might have forgotten what the plot is and what happened on earlier chapters, I suggest a reread from the start, it''s not that long anyway~ Also I''ve added a story part on chapter 1 and 2 and it''s important in the plot. It also adds to the depth of the story, which is really important as I''m aiming for a deep story, though so far it lacks that~ Also one more thing, I specialize in a dark kind of plots with gore and stuff about the dark side Human nature etc., at least that''s the direction I want to go as an Author. So if you want fluffy stuff... There should be some here but the story would stand on the dark side~
