Chapter 1 Chapter 1 Slowly I started to feel again when I opened my eyes it was dark I tried to stand up but I felt small when I tried moving my fingers I couldn''t. My body currently is that of a 2 year old and I decided I will start training nothing too demanding after all my body is still growing I am just going to jog around till I feel tired I will start with a mile and add on another every 2 weeks until I hit 20 miles. As me and Nox walked out of the dark cave we were in I finally got a look at Nox''s form sleek black scales Nox was around 5-6 feet in length eyes were bright green beautiful was all I could think. We started to speed up once we were out of the cave settling on a steady jog that continued until I heard a whimper and sounds of a fight I bolted in the direction of the noise. When I arrived I saw a wolf hunting a rabbit would I save the rabbit? I am no saint ˇ° Nox whenever the wolf kills the rabbit strike aim to kill it in one blow ˇ° Nox slowly slithered up behind the wolf slowly making sure to make no sound then as soon as the wolf landed its killing blow on the rabbit Nox struck fangs landing right in the neck of the wolf it took 3-4 seconds before the wolf dropped dead a quick and decisive blow ˇ° Good job Nox ˇ° I could feel Nox''s happiness like a dog being excited for being praised. Slowly walking up to the 2 dead animals I realized having no knife would be a problem I had nothing to skin the wolf and rabbit with as I was in the middle of my dilemma Nox said to me ˇ° Massster ussse your mana channel it into your hand it will be asss sssharp asss a blade I can feel your mana massster you have plenty ˇ° mana huh this really is a completely different place I tried closing my eyes and imagining something anything flowing over my hand it started to tingle a bit when I opened my eyes my hand didn''t look any different. Walking up to the dead animals I ran my hand across the wolfs fur and a cut was made it wasn''t deep or anything but it was more than enough to skin them and harvest there meat ˇ° Thank you Nox for telling me about this ˇ° after I had finished skinning the 2 animals I took the fur with me I am by no means skilled enough to make clothes but I can use these furs as a bed it will make it a bit more comfortable at least ˇ° Let us return Nox ˇ° and like that my first day truly being alive in this world came to a close. Chapter 2 Chapter 2 A month had gone by me and Nox had established a routine I was now jogging 3 miles a day and after our jog me and Nox would hunt something. It was a pretty solid routine i''m glad I remembered how to make a fire because from what I learned from Nox only people with classes pertaining to the elements can actually use magic to create fire, wind, earth, and water I asked about light and dark magic Nox said it doesn''t exist but, there are still many uses for mana even if your class can''t use elements everyone with mana can enhance there body and the more you train it the stronger it becomes I have been keeping it on non stop whenever I am awake it''s draining but it''s slowly getting easier everyday I can feel it taking less and less out of me I''m not strong enough to enhance my full body so I am keeping it on both of my legs at all times and slowly increasing the area every week. Nox seems to be getting stronger as well she grew a whole 2 feet so far she''s sitting at 7 feet and yes Nox is a girl that whole conversation was pretty awkward I thought Nox was a guy. All in all I think I''ve had a pretty productive 3 months of life I still haven''t started training my muscles I wont start for another 5 years or I could damage my body. Nox told me more about this world it seems everyone on this world has levels but it is different for Monsters & Animals than it is for Humanoid races Monsters & Animals once reaching level 100 can evolve they can''t choose what they evolve into but that''s where Monster Tamer comes into play a Monster Tamer can choose the evolution of there tamed monster but it seems most people don''t bother leveling there tamed monsters they expect them to be a certain strength from there start but it is understandable why army''s don''t invest into monster tamers. If they want strength they can''t wait and hope the monster they invested so much into turns into something great they need reassurance that the investment they make will turn out to be useful. As for humanoid races there levels never stop from what I heard from Nox the strongest humanoid to walk this planet was a beast-man known as Kaizek his level was over 183 from the story Nox told me Kaizek was thrown into a great depression when the beast king slew his family and executed his wife in front of him after doing this the king ordered Kaizek to be thrown into the abyss which is unexplored land full of dangerous monsters but, in the end Kaizek surpassed all odds and killed monsters in the abyss non stop for 30 years until he was strong enough to kill the king. The day Kaizek slayed the beast king he dissapeared but not before splitting apart all the beast races now they all live in different tribes away from each other Kaizek is said to still be alive somewhere in the abyss lands apparently after your level surpasses 200 your lifespan becomes almost immortal and Kaizek was incredibly close to reaching that mark. As I was finishing up my daily jog I heard a cry for help but it sounded in my head I didn''t actually hear anything I was confused for a second before I heard Nox say ˇ° Massster thisss way ˇ° completely confused with the situation I had no choice but to follow. Nox was going top speed almost leaving me in the dust but, thankfully she slowed down enough for me to still see her. Once we came out of some bushes what I saw was a lone fox being backed into a corner by a 3 wolfs it was quite a peculiar fox is was pure white like the purest snow but it had bright yellow eyes that really stood out. As I collected my thought I told Nox ˇ° Go around and attack the one on the left again kill it as fast as possible ˇ° Nox didn''t speak but I felt her feelings and she soon sped off to attack the right wolf as she did I slowly creeped around to left wolf. Even though all I can do is infuse mana into my hands I was once a hitman this much is enough to kill wolf my mana infusion has gotten stronger it cuts much deeper now. Once I saw Nox lunge at the right wolf and dig her fangs into its neck I waited for the left wolf to look up and see what was happening in his confusion I struck charging forward I pushed the tips of my fingers as deep as I could into the wolfs chest right where his heart was I felt my fingers pierce his flesh and continue into his heart until his lifeless body fell onto me but, with that it was not done there was still one wolf left. Looking at where Nox was I spoke to her ˇ° Nox together ˇ° Nox started to move forward as did I The wolf started to run towards me seeing I was weaker but before he could Nox latched onto his neck and soon after he died. Cleaning myself off with some magic Nox taught me it''s a cleaning spell everyone in this world learns usable by anyone with mana you just have to will your mana to clean the impurities off your body only actual spells that deal with the elements have actual chants. Soon after finishing I looked towards the fox still sitting there cowering I walked up slowly to the fox before I heard in my head ˇ° Get away please don''t hurt me ˇ° I was shocked I had never heard anyone but Nox I cleared my head and responded out loud ˇ° I am not here to hurt you I just happened to hear you and wanted to know why I was hearing you in my head ˇ° the fox seemed confused ˇ° You can hear me? Hmm you are strange human mother always told me one day I would meet one like you the one I would be destined to be with. ˇ° I was a bit confused with the response I didn''t know what to say ˇ° Um destined to be with? ˇ° the fox glared at me for a bit before saying ˇ° Yes destined as in this was meant to be so do it human put your hand on my head and will it into me tame me ˇ° shocked by the situation I didn''t know if I should go through with this or not until I heard a familiar voice ˇ° Massster you ssshould tame thisss one ssshe isss of the ssstar fox race although quite common they are rarely ssseen outssside of a pack ssso they are quite hard to tame. ˇ° taking in what Nox had just said I had decided so I mustered up all the mana I could placed my hand on the fox''s head and released it all afterwards I felt something tingly in my head as if I was being connected with something then I saw a bright flash and it ended. Once I got my sense back I looked for the fox and as soon as I saw her I calmed down ˇ° stop calling me the fox I have a proper name and it is Sakura given to me by my mother ˇ° I was a little confused but finally said ˇ° Hello Sakura my name is Marcus and this is Nox welcome to our family ˇ° and like that another eventful day had gone by. Chapter 3 Chapter 3 Another 3 months had gone by fairly quickly Nox and Sakura have gotten quite comfortable with each other. At first it was pretty awkward Sakura didn''t talk much but she soon opened up after about 3 weeks. As it turns out the reason Sakura was alone is because it was the death of her parents anniversary so she was revisiting the grave leaving behind her pack but, she got lost along the way and was attacked by those wolfs. Other than that Sakura also informed me that she was level 96 she was close to evolving she told me if she hunted enough maybe in about 3 years she can evolve. As it turns out Nox was level 93 so hopefully both of them can evolve before we leave this place in 9 years. As for me I am level 2 I don''t really know how to explain it but, if you close your eyes and think of your level a number appears that is your current level. Currently were on our daily jog right now we are on 9 miles it takes us about 1 hour to finish the jog. My mana enhancing has gotten stronger I can now have my hands and feet covered in mana at the same time now it''s made hunting a lot easier especially with Sakura around. Since Sakura has arrived we had to change our hunting style we''ve been going after larger pray now for the last week we hunted Dire Wolves they are stronger version of wolves there a lot bigger as well almost 4 heads larger. The scariest thing about Dire Wolves is there speed there incredibly fast I barley have time to dodge every time they jump at me and there strength is no joke. Once Nox got hit by one of there paws she flew back until she hit a tree stopping her momentum, we had to retreat it took a couple of days for her to heal but thankfully I can heal her bit by bit using mana. Currently though with my level and mana amount I can only heal so much at a time I really need to get stronger the more time I spend out here in the wild the more I am starting to understand that in this world the strong eat the weak. As we jogged past the rock that served as our landmark we finished up our 9 mile jog and it was time to go hunting. Looking deeper into the forest I saw some movement before whatever it was came out I made sure to alert the other 2. ˇ° Nox Sakura something is coming be prepared. ˇ° They both braced themselves and slowly the creature in the bushes emerged !!! we all went on major alert it was a Red backed bear!!! there at least twice the size of a Dire Wolf. It started to sniff around until it spotted us as soon as it did the Red backed bear let out a howl and charged. ˇ° Nox go around behind it and Sakura distract it your faster than both of us ˇ° ˇ° Sure ˇ° Sakura respoded ˇ° By your will ˇ° said Nox Soon enough they both took off the Red backed bear looked towards me at first but soon enough it turned towards Sakura whenever she jumped up and smacked it face with her tail. The bear was angered it let out a roar so deafening it made me hold my ears I thought they would bleed but this is no time to be worry about that if we don''t succeed here well all be dead. Sakura was doing a good job so far of keeping the bear distracted it kept swiping at her but she made sure to keep her distance and not get too close. As me and Nox got ready to strike the bear started to catch on it turned around and let out a huge roar again this time however I grit my teeth and charged forward as did Nox. We both went in from different sides Nox''s fangs sank deep into the bears neck and my strike going deep into his side. This bear however wasn''t done he flailed his arms around in hopes of injuring us I thought it would surely die soon but soon I heard ˇ°AAAAAAAAAAAAAA ˇ° the cry came from Sakura This dam bear hit her with his flailing we had no choice but to let go of him Sakura was more important than this thing. Once me and Nox released the bear it dashed off into the woods it was surprisingly fast. Rushing over to Sakura to see her injury''s they did not look so good I poured what mana I had left into her and the wounds stopped bleeding at the very least. ˇ° Sakura i''m taking you to the cave now it might hurt a little while were walking but please bear with it for now ˇ° I only heard a slight whimper as a response but sure enough she was fine for the walk to the cave it wasn''t too far seeing as this was the end route for our jog. Once we got into the cave I layed Sakura down on the bed I made from the pelts we had gathered. Afterwards I poured the rest of my mana into Sakura her wounds started to close a little but I knew there was still much damage left. ˇ° Nox I must rest now please watch over us while I sleep make sure Sakura is ok ˇ° ˇ° Ressst massster thisss one will watch over both of you ˇ° Draining all my mana makes me so tired I curled up next to Sakura and slowly dazed off if I can trust anyone to guard us its Nox. Slowly opening my eyes the next day I looked towards Sakura she seemed to be doing better her breathing was more steady. So once again I poured all of my mana into her and then proceeded to eat some dried jerky I had in case of emergencies. A few hours past until Sakura started to awaken as soon as she did I heard. ˇ° Master I am sorry my misinterpretation of what was happening during that battle has caused me to get injured I thought the beast was dead ˇ° ˇ° Its ok Sakura you did nothing wrong right now all that matters is that you get better so rest now I will continue to heal you we will just have to train harder so that next time we can take it down. ˇ° Sakura seemed fine with that answer as she soon dozed off again and just like that another day went by in the eventful world everyday gets more interesting. Once again I poured what mana I had recovered into Sakura and dozed off to dreamland another day goes by in this new world. Chapter 4 Chapter 4 It''s been 3 years time fly''s by when your doing something to keep you busy. Some pretty interesting things have happened in this time I saw another human for the first time about 2 months ago. It was near the river that runs through here by the arachnids nest I don''t go near there much but, Nox suggested we get some water as we were starting to run out. Water I keep it in a bowl I made out of wood its not the greatest thing but it has to do for now. When we were approaching the river I heard some talking it seemed to be the same as English and I could understand what they were saying. Even if I was able to understand I wasn''t able to hear much as they were getting ready to leave but, they were dressed in some odd armor. It was decorative and had golden trim running across the shoulders with a symbol engraved on the chest it looked like a rose being constricted by a snake. When I started to approach them Sakura held me back ˇ° Master please do not approach these humans let them leave we do not know if they are friend or foe and you have no weapon to fight against them ˇ° she made a really good point along with that I was a monster tamer and apparently they aren''t too well liked on this planet. From the conversation they were having all I heard was from the bigger of the 3 knights he had a deep scar running across his left cheek. The bigger knight seemed to be the leader of the two but what he said did get me a bit worried as I had no idea what it was about. ˇ° Jives and Calister pack up were leaving this place seems to be good enough we have scouted the area around here it should be fine when the war starts in 3 years we will have a sufficient place to ambush the enemy if they enter our territory. ˇ° He spoke of war but are things really that bad on the outside? I had always assumed it was peaceful since no one ever came into these woods looking for food but now it seems my home will become a terrible place to be in 3 years. After they had left I gathered my water and went home to my cave I had to come up with a plan but I have 3 years so I put it off for now. It''s a long time away and I want to enjoy myself for now and continue to train I haven''t started practicing with my muscles yet even if I say that its more like Yoga it is something an old monk taught me in my old world. Flexibility helped a ton when ever I had to get out of some tight spots but, for now I am putting it off for another year my body is now that of a 3 year old. There was no worry from me there is no use dwelling on it as I cannot change the outcome of what I am. Other than all of that it''s been a peaceful 3 years we started hunting Red backed bears now. At first we struggled a bit and Nox got injured during our first 2 hunts but now we can kill them with ease. The thing about Red backed bears is they have tons of power in there swipes and there jaws but, if you don''t let them get near you and make sure to kill it with your first initial strikes it becomes a pretty easy hunt. Although not much had changed Nox and Sakura both had hit level 100 they both told me they needed to meet a requirement for evolving. That requirement seemed to be killing a monster stronger than they were which was pretty difficult seeing as we haven''t found anything that strong yet. Even if we haven''t found anything that strong its not like we haven''t been searching everyday on our 20 mile jog we search around even going off route to look for a monster that''s of reasonable power but, its hard most monsters tend to run away as quick as they came like they don''t want to be seen. As we were finishing up our daily jog for today Nox had smelled something odd in the air. ˇ° Massster it sssmells like blood it is a thick ssscent there ssseemsss to be a battle happening nearby ssshould we aproach? ˇ° ˇ° Lead the way Nox ˇ° Soon after Nox bolted towards the sound I''ve become a lot better at keeping up with Nox she no longer leaves me in the dust. Sakura seems to have no problem keeping up with Nox but she always stays next to me on my left side. As we got closer and closer to a trench up ahead I smelled the thick scent of blood it hit me clearly ugh it smelled horrible but I was use to this scent it smelled familiar. ˇ° Master look its the humans from before and that!!!! Its a Gryphon!. ˇ° A Gryphon I heard about them from Sakura they are strong very strong I looked down into the trench and saw it. The humans from before were all slain lain about it looked like a one sided slaughter the Gryphon didn''t even allow them to fight back it seemed to be eating them ugh. The gryphon was distracted currently and this was a perfect time to attack it we have a good chance of killing it but will our strength be enough to take down this majestic beast? ˇ° Sakura Nox what do you think should we do it now would be a good time for you to evolve. ˇ° ˇ° Massster let usss go a beassst of thisss ssstrength will be no match for usss. ˇ° ˇ° I agree with Nox master we can take him if we strike now while he is distracted. ˇ° They both readily agreed sheesh this might just be suicide but they seem ready for this and just like that my first life and death battle had begun. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My next chapters will be doubled in length thanks to the suggestion of somebody sorry for the cliff hanger but i just woke up after i finish eating ill write the next chapter so look be on the look out. Chapter 5 Chapter 5 We slowly approached the gryphon from behind this time would be different from all the other times we had hunted. Sakura would be joining us in the attack our goal was to do as much damage to the beast before he noticed what was happening it was our best chance of taking him down. ˇ° Sakura once we are close enough I want you to try to take out one of his eyes I''m counting on you. ˇ° She nodded her head and we continued forward just looking at the beast it was magnificent its golden fur looked just beautiful next to its white fur that covered the head. We were coming into range now I had a plan and I was hoping it would work I''m counting on dumb luck really as I know nothing of the anatomy of these creatures. ˇ° Nox once Sakura starts the assult me and you will attack one of its wings well try to injure it as much as possible so it cannot take flight. ˇ° ˇ° Yesss massster thisss one will inject itsss poissson into the beassst. ˇ° Nox''s poison paralyzed whichever part of the body it was injected into it acted quickly but it doesn''t last long 5 minutes at most. Coming into range now Sakura took off pouncing at the best as its head was picking at one of the humans. ˇ° GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ˇ° The gryphon''s roar was deafening as sakura sunk one of her claws into its eyes. ˇ° Now Nox lets go ˇ° Making sure to use the confusion of the beast me and Nox both pounced onto the gryphons right wing. Covering my hand in as much mana as possible I use a large chopping motion on the gryphon I could feel some of the flesh sever as my hand came down. Nox sank her fangs into the beast injecting her poison I was thrilled we had done it or so I thought. Never ever underestimate a beast this powerful it had gone through more that enough battles like this. Swinging its powerful tail it hit me straight in the chest knocking the wind out of me. ˇ° Guhhhh ˇ° I flew backwards a couple of feet until I hit a rock feeling like I got hit by a truck and coughing up some blood. Some of my ribs were broken there was no way around that I could feel it I definitely am in no condition to keep going but, I have to or we could all very well die here. Gritting my teeth and picking myself up I looked towards the others. ˇ° Nox Sakura don''t worry about me just keep going do not let the gryphon recover ˇ° ˇ° But master we must retreat you are seriously injured ˇ° ˇ° Do not worry Sssakura massster will be ok I trussst his judgement asss should you. ˇ° Sakura didn''t look convinced but in the end she gave in and continued her assault on the gryphon. The gryphon by no means had given up either it was constantly flailing it tail around hoping to hit Nox while it constantly slashed at Sakura in its frenzy. They both were doing a good job of dodging until the gryphon had had enough it let out another deafening roar. ˇ° GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ˇ° This time however it also pounced onto Sakura it had her pinned down under one of its paws. Once again I asked Sakura which one she would like she only responded with. ˇ° Elemental Fox please master neither you nor Nox can use magic so this will be of much use to us.ˇ± I immediately agreed with her and clicked the box after that we all dozed off to dreamland and just like that another eventful day had gone by. Chapter 6 Chapter 6 It''s been 2 years since we fought and killed the gryphon a lot has changed. Sakura and Nox both evolved and they are much different from before. Sakura for one is now 1 foot taller putting her at 4 feet she also now has 4 different tattoos. Each tattoo is on different a different leg they represent the elements there is Fire, Water, Air, and Earth. Sakura has gotten pretty good at controlling her magic she doesn''t need chants but, she can''t use strong magic since she doesn''t chant her spells require a lot more mana than it would normally with a chant. On the bright side it helps quite a lot when were hunting for her not to have to say a chant. For now Sakura can only use simple things like fireballs, earth spikes, and wind blades as for water it turns out its used for healing it doesn''t have offensive capability''s but, its healing power is second to none. Another thing that changed about Sakura is that now I can regenerate my mana faster a lot faster by being near her. Well I say a lot but its not by that much say my mana was regenerating at 1x now it would be regenerating at 1.25x. Although it doesn''t sound like much its quite the game changer it lets me experiment more with my mana allowing me to try new things. For example I''ve been experimenting with infusing my eyes and ears with mana it''s turned out quite well so far. Although there not as strong as my hands and feet they are quite useful it lets me hear things much farther away and I can also see almost double what I could before. Hopefully with more training ill be able to increase the range of my eyesight and hearing I did try infusing my nose as well but ugh I am never doing that again. Ever try walking around a forest with enhanced smell you''ll smell some pretty disgusting stuff. Out of everyone so far though Nox has changed the most she is now over 16 feet in length she is huge I was shocked at first. Over all though nothing changed about how she looked she just grew a lot larger. The most interesting change about Nox is she now has the ability to travel in my shadow. We think however its only unique to me and Nox seeing as she cant enter any other shadow we think it has something to do with my race Shadow Walker. Another thing that changed was Nox''s poison instead of paralyzing part of the body it now paralyzes the whole body the time limit has changed as well we tested it on a rabbit. The time of Nox''s Poison is now 50 whole minutes. I''ve also started doing my yoga its not anything too special but you have to make sure to do it everyday twice a day. Once when you wake once more before you sleep I feel a lot more comfortable my body is becoming the way it use to be I feel more flexible everyday. Over all though I''m thankful to that god everyday has been relatively peaceful although I can sense that starting to change everyday is becoming more and more dangerous. Something deep inside me is telling me bloodshed is coming I remember hearing those knights say war was coming in 3 years but, have they sped along there plans? More humans and even beastmen have been traveling through these woods every time they stop by the same river so I''m not too afraid of being spotted. Still it worries me it seems my peaceful life will be coming to a close soon it''s been pretty short but I really did enjoy myself I have been truly happy for once. Four years that''s how long I had left I don''t know where this Rosencall Manor is but I will have to start searching in 3 years. Chapter 7 Chapter 7 A year has passed things have changed drastically in this forest. Groups of armed knights from the looks of there equipment travel through here almost regularly now. It did help me in one way though I managed to get myself some clothes. They dropped from the knights horse satchel when they were riding through here it wasn''t much but I have been naked all this time. Now I wore a brown cotton feeling shirt with bottoms to match I did also grab a cloak its long and red it drags across the floor when I walk but its more than helpful. Other than the knights passing through regularly I have seen some people that look like hunters following the knights. They look like hunters but I''m starting to believe there mercenaries I guess a war really has started I wonder how bad its gotten war is always a time where too much blood is spilled. Many things have changed in this year though I have been practicing using Durandal more and more at first I tried making Durandal into a gun but, as I expected not possible. The shape can be made and the general parts are all working but there just seems to be something I''m missing something important I keep forgetting. It is perfectly fine though I have been using 2 daggers instead of a gun it is the only other thing I had used in my old life and its what feels most comfortable. Although I have used them before I by no means am at the level of a master at most I''m a little above average. What makes up for that huge gap in skill though is my ability of stealth I practiced quite a bit to hone myself this much so its the only advantage I would have over anyone currently. Well other than that another thing that is unique about Durandal is that I can pour my mana into him. Apparently not all weapons can handle mana so they break when you try to pour it inside. Well as for Durandal''s evolution and level he is at his final evolution apparently. Speaking to Durandal has given me quite a lot of information on monsters and there evolutions. Every monster can go through 3 evolutions in there lifetime as for Durandal he started off as a Spirit and slowly moved up from there apparently Spirits pertaining to the elements are the final evolution for his race. Another thing I learned is that most monsters get an evolution depending on what monster they killed when they reached level 100 but, the good news is that monster tamer can skip that step and will automatically get 4 random evolutions for there tamed monsters. As for the others starting with Nox shes adapted her fighting style to something unique to me and her. Nox will always go into my shadow before a hunt now and one Sakura gets there attention we strike together. Right now there isn''t anything in the forest we can''t hunt with Nox''s poison it really is strong. Well even though I say that it seems the stronger the monster the more it can resist it. We tried using her poison on another gryphon we came across it only lasted 10 minutes that''s a huge difference from the initial 50. Now knowing that monsters can resist Nox''s poison we''ve been relying on it less and less I mean you don''t want to use something like that all the time. Then if you came across something that could resist it what would you do it would just make the fight unnecessarily difficult for you since you didn''t prepare. Since Nox has been staying in my shadow for so long though shes grown a habit of staying there for long periods of time apparently she just feels comfortable there. There''s no real reason to argue with that I mean I can''t deny that having Nox in my shadow does give me a sense of reassurance like I am being protected always. As for Sakura her magic has gotten a lot stronger her mana went up as shes leveled up quite a bit since we started hunting daily. Sakura is now sitting at a whopping level 43 as for me I am now level 26 Nox is at 36 and Durandal cannot gain anymore levels. Sakura has been practicing with stronger magic currently though her favorite spells seem to be a fire lance and rejuvenating current at least that''s what she calls them. Sakura''s healing magic is truly wonderful it''s a lot stronger than me healing them but that could be because of my level maybe once I get stronger ill also be able to heal them quicker. Honestly though I am growing more and more curious as to what benefits leveling has. From the story''s Durandal has told me monster tamers were once quite a coveted class he even told me that once a monster tamer reached level 100 the amount of monsters he could tame increased by 2. The reason Durandal believes that monster tamers are now hated is because people started to slow down on leveling up when he was imprisoned he thinks that most races have stopped hunting monsters to gain experience and now only level by practicing a martial art. Even though you can gain experience by practicing a martial art it is very slow compared to hunting monsters but its much safer. It is true no matter how much of a fantasy this is its not a game. Once you die you die there is no way around that thankfully I have wonderful companions to help me along the way. Maybe I can hit level 100 and add more to my family if Durandals story is true we might get more family members in a couple of years who knows. After eating my breakfast it was time to go on our daily jog but something felt different today. Walking out of the cave with the others I enhanced my ears with mana and I could hear the faint noise of battle happening near by. It was 5 knights with the same emblem as the 3 that died when we first fought the gryphon. The emblem was a single rose being constricted by a snake the knights were engaged in combat with 2 gryphons they didn''t seem to be doing so hot. One of the knights was already heavily injured he was bleeding pretty hard but the fight still continued I think they knew. They knew if they tried to retreat and turn there back on these 2 majestic creatures they would be slain without a second thought. One of the knights came in close and tried to swing at the wing of one of the gryphons while it wasn''t looking but alas he was swatted away by the tail before his strike came in. At this rate I think these humans will die but I don''t understand what it is I''m feeling right now. A longer weapon was needed after all so I could pierce the gryphons heart in one blow. Its very crucial that you kill gryphons as quick as possible never underestimate an animal on deaths door or you yourself will end up the corpse. Sakura had used an earth spike right under the gryphon it dodged wonderfully but, sadly that''s what we wanted. Using the time it took for the gryphon to get its bearings straight we struck. My blade piercing straight through the gryphons chest I could feel its heart on the other side slowly fading away at the same time Nox had sunk her fangs deep into the beast. Only taking a couple of seconds the gryphons life soon faded away. We moved quickly though we understood what must me done. Right before we were about to strike the second gryphon I heard a voice scream. ˇ° Stoooooooooooooooooop!!!! Do not kill that gryphon I beg of you please. ˇ° Shocked I couldn''t respond completely forgetting who we jumped in to help. I looked towards the knight that had screamed he looked tired exhausted like he was almost ready to pass out but he held on he looked at me not leaving a single opening. ˇ° Why would you like me to not kill this gryphon in 8 minutes once this poison wears off it will try to kill you again. ˇ° The knight looked at me and sighed. ˇ° I know but we have a collar of taming here. Nile looked almost average he seemed about 6 feet tall average build he did have a scar running across his right eye it didn''t prevent him from seeing though. The only thing that made Nile stand out was his bright red hair the others all had brown or black hair but his was bright red his eyes were also a deep green I have never seen this combination before. Strange guy but there''s no use dwelling on that he offered me something I plan on taking. Chapter 9 Chapter 9 We were approaching the gate of the city when one of the guard''s waved towards our cart signaling it to stop. The two talked for a little while more until the guard signaled up towards the gate. Slowly the gate started to open and we were once more on our way into the city. The first thing I noticed was the smell so did Sakura it seems as she had woken up. '' Master this place smells different than the forest there are so many different smells. '' '' Yes were not even inside yet it might be a bit overwhelming but bear with it you will grow accustomed to it soon enough after all it seems well be in this city for quite a while. '' The first thing I saw were the buildings some were different colors ranging from blue to red but most were some sort of brown. The buildings themselves were pretty big but not too big the largest one I could see while we were entering was a large white temple looking building it was about the size of a 4 story house. Many people were coming and going from the place so I felt like I had to ask. ˇ° Hey Jarvis what is that temple looking building. ˇ° He looked surprised for a second seeing as I didn''t ask much on our journey but soon enough he had a big grin on his face before responding with. ˇ° That beauty there is the temple of Heivr he is the god of war and protection many people worship him in this city so before you say something dumb it''d be best to hold your tongue. ˇ° Heivr huh I wonder if that is the god that sent me to this place. Soon we had past the temple and were coming into a different district I would call it there were 2 guards standing watch. The guards looked once at Nile and waved us through they didn''t ask anything else even with this huge gryphon following us I guess Nile is well trusted around here. We did get some stares while driving through town because of the gryphon but most people didn''t look twice seems they were used to this sort of thing. Coming into this new district I immediately saw a difference in quality of life. The houses were huge and by huge I mean they were almost 3 to 4 times the size of the ones we had past along the way.
