By the way, please please please please remember. This chapter is the original timeline. Don¡¯t cross the streams. Chapter 60.5- The Road Not Walked (Timeline A) ***July 5th, 965 A.F. (Night)*** ***Mechanna*** ***Ajax McGuire** When I tied Wyn up, I thought everything was over. I thought that I had survived a dangerous encounter with a traveler. I was naive to have such thoughts. Of course, the gods doesn''t let me off that easily. They hate me too much. I hear something burning. Sensing danger, I immediately I sat up and looked at Wyn. The makeshift ropes that tied up Wyn were on fire. For a moment, Wyn seemed like a green birthday cake. Before long it snapped, freeing Wyn. She stood up, and she looks angry. ¡°Um, Hi Wyn. I know you are angry and all but¡­¡± ¡°ENOUGH!!¡± She refused to listen any longer and silenced me with a horrific howl. As soon she finished yelling, a red pulse radiated from her, then another, and another. The red pulse covered the entire arena. I felt nothing when the first wave collided with me. But when another wave hits me, the surrounding became slightly warmer. With each wave, it grew increasingly hot. By the time the fifth wave hit me, it had gotten so hot I couldn¡¯t breathe. I try to run towards a hatch to take shelter from the heat, but it was too late. My skin starts to sear, and I knelt down, not being able to take another step. I was expecting it to hurt, but it didn¡¯t. My nerves were completely burnt away. Everything blacked out. ***???*** ***29A*** I stood n the familiar white void in silence, trying to gather my thoughts.

It was so perfect that it looked like it was made out of plastic. I assumed it was a ¡°he.¡± I couldn¡¯t tell. He spoke with an androgynous voice, and his white toga didn¡¯t give any clues either. ¡°WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU?¡± I snapped at the weird mannequin looking guy. I would have been a lot more courteous to him, but I was too angry to think straight.

Unlike the regular fire elementals, it was completely black and devoid of light. The outer edge of the flame looks like it was censored by mosaic. Sometimes, bits and pieces of computer codes appear through the crack of space. After studying the rules and codes for centuries, I found a little loophole of this world. Using this loophole, I created my weapon against the creators. I did a little twirl in celebration. I pulled up its stat page to confirm everything.

The corrupted being that I planned for years finally come to fruition. It wasn¡¯t perfect, yet, of course. It had the power to devour data, but It lacked my ability to alter the world. Planting my arm solidly around the fire elemental, I can feel my data being stripped away, bit by bit, slowly assimilated into the corrupted being. I am no longer a toy of the creators. Chapter 65.5- Devoured Author¡¯s note: I decided to power through this even though I didn¡¯t really want to write a .5 chapter. I was planning to write a chapter last week, but I had to take a forced vacation with my parents for Canada Day. I was binging on Cultivation Chat Group (Chinese Raw). It was deliciously hilarious. I would recommend it to anyone, though, you would miss out on some jokes if you don¡¯t understand Chinese/ Chinese culture. And Overwatch, ya¡­.. (Sorry don¡¯t hate me==¡± *Prostrate* Overwatch is too much fun.) Base on my workload at school and work, the release schedule will be one chapter every Sunday guaranteed until further notice. In between, I will try to write a chapter or two. I have Sunday off of work for now. Chapter 65.5- Devoured (Timeline A) ***Mechanna*** ***Aewyn*** ¡°Gah, this is why I didn¡¯t want to use heat pulse. It damaged everything. I have to reset the dungeon. It¡¯s so annoying. Saving data¡­ resetting...¡± I sat down on top of a hatch with the in-game GM terminal opened. The green text based terminal floating in front of me is what I used for in-game commands. Even though it was dark, I could see the terminal perfectly since it glows in the dark. ¡°Ok, reset dungeon complete. Now let¡¯s deal with that hacker. Let¡¯s see¡­¡± I opened the list of the dead for this dungeon. It lets me see everyone in the dungeon that is waiting for to be respawned. I was completely surprised by what I found: nothing. If this were anyone else, they would still be in the respawn waiting area. ¡°That can¡¯t be right, he shouldn¡¯t have respawned yet. I went comb through the log carefully, trying to determine what happened. I found the entry that I wanted. I used hand gestures and commanded the glowing green terminal to enlarge on that section.

After that, there was no entry, which means he wasn¡¯t respawned yet. In fact, there were no entries after Ajax died. What is going on? Everything goes completely against what I know about the game. Could he use a hack to escape the respawn zone? His skill as a hacker is ungodly. I am tempted to get Fin to hire him as a consultant. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. I concentrated working in the darkness trying to figure out what¡¯s going on. I stopped when I felt a sudden chill crawling on my back. It wasn¡¯t only that I felt something was watching me, but the air around me grew colder in an instant as well. I stood up and turned around and yelled at the darkness. ¡°Fin? Is that you?¡± *GROWL* ¡°Fin? Is that your stomach growling?¡± After adjusting my eyes to the darkness, I saw a pair of eyes in the glowed in the dark from far away. I heard a low rumbling growl coming from the same direction. Before I could even respond, it leaped at me with incredible speed. ***Shadowmaple*** ***Fin¡¯Vaeil*** *Knock Knock Knock* ¡°Wyn? Are you ready to leave?¡± I knocked on the door of Aewyn¡¯s office. Only silence returned my question. I knocked once again. *Knock Knock Knock* ¡°Wyn, let¡¯s go already. I am hungry. And how many times I told you to answer when I message you.¡± Again there was no answer. ¡°Wyn?¡± Sensing that there was something wrong, I tried to open the door. It wasn¡¯t locked, so I helped myself into Aewyn''s office. The first thing I noticed in the room was a burning metallic smell in the air. I immediately started to panic. ¡°WYN!¡± I rushed to where Aewyn was lying down. There was smoke coming out of the gaming custom-made pink helmet that she was wearing, which was slightly blackened by the rising smoke. Seeing the scene, I removed her helmet immediately and tried to wake her by shaking her limp body. ¡°Wyn! Wake up! What¡¯s wrong!¡± She didn¡¯t respond at all. I could still see that she was breathing normally, but I don¡¯t know what happened to her. Fearing the worst, I got up and rushed to phone hospital for help. Author¡¯s post note: Sorry, this one was super short. When I planned this out, it sounded a lot longer in my head than this. The next regular chapter will be longer, I promise. Chapter 70.5- Beginning of the End Author¡¯s note: So this was a bit late because I forgot to open a new novel request before hand. I had to wait till the mods approve till I could post this. I have also decided to keep the chapter numbers in line with the main plot. It would be weird if I went back and changed the chapter numbers. Chapter 70.5- Beginning of the End ***Shadowmaple Hospital*** ***Fin¡¯Vaiel*** The air stank of disinfectant. The smell was starting to give me a headache. At the very least, the hospital was quiet, and it didn¡¯t make my headache any worse. The only sound that I could hear was the rhythmic beeps coming from the machines. As much as I want to, I couldn¡¯t escape from my responsibility. I sat outside of the emergency room as I waited with my face buried in my knees. Just when I thought I had time to reconstruct my mind carefully, a set of heavy footsteps hastily came towards me, disrupting my thoughts. I looked up to find Karas, Aewyn¡¯s husband, rushing towards me. With a devastated look, he started the interrogation. I replied his questions with tearful eyes. ¡°What happened? How is she? Is she alright? What did the doctor say?¡± ¡°I¡­ I don¡¯t know. One moment, We were having a small contest inside the game. The next I know, I found her unconscious with the helmet puffing out smoke. The doctor is still inside looking after her.¡± He must have realized that I know as much as he does about Aewyn. Further questioning would not produce more results, so silence befell once again between us. Karas began to pace back and forth in front of the emergency room¡¯s door like a pendulum. After what seems to be an eternity of stillness, the door to Aewyn¡¯s room swung opened. A doctor in a gown with a slight tinge of blue walked out. Karas immediately rushed up to him. ¡°Doctor, is she fine?¡± ¡°The good news is that the patient doesn¡¯t seem to be in any immediate danger.¡± Karas and I both let out a sigh of relief since Aewyn is not in any danger. But from the phrasing of the doctor, there seems to be bad news as well. I steel myself to receive it. ¡°The bad news is we don¡¯t know what¡¯s wrong.¡± ¡°WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON¡¯T KNOW WHAT¡¯S WRONG WITH HER!¡± ¡°Please calm down sir, let me explain. Physically, we can¡¯t find anything wrong. We did all sorts of tests, and they all came back negative. However¡­¡± ¡°Just give it to us straight, doctor.¡± ¡°However, her brainwaves seem to be stuck in a never-ending cycle between Theta-wave and Delta-wave. The most peculiar thing is that the cycle is almost exactly 5 seconds each cycle. It¡¯s like clockwork. I¡¯ve never seen brainwaves behaving like this in the two thousand years I''ve been practicing.¡± ¡°So what do we do? How can we wake her up?¡± ¡°You said that you found her unconscious while using the immersion-tech hardware right? I am fairly confident that had something to do with her current situation since immersion-tech directly interacts with brainwaves. But since I am not an expert in this field, I cannot tell you anything concrete.¡± ¡°Atalan.¡± I whispered a name under my breath. I didn¡¯t want to see that jackass, but I have no choice. Atalan might be able to help us.¡± ***Drumming Heights*** ¡°Can we skip this and move on to the Drumming Maze? Uh¡­ ok. Here¡¯s the battle plan. I am going to run first and drop a shout to grab the attention of the three heads to the left. Fronany, you come right behind me and grab the three heads on the right. Asb, you take the remaining two in the center. This way, no one has to fight a whole bunch of heads at the same time. The rest of you, focus on bringing down the center two heads first. After that, take a control of a head from Fronany and I. Repeat until all the heads are down. Asb, make sure you be careful of the regenerating heads and take control of them. Can I get a quick number crunch?¡± ¡°Ya, give me a second¡­. Uhh.. At the very least, I came out of that unscathed, though not the same could be said for the rest of my teammates. I walked up and down the street waiting for my teammates to respawn. Finally, after an hour, my patience ran out. I sent a quick message through the party system. "What''s taking you guys so long? Hurry up and regroup at the adventurer''s guild." Silence responded. I tried to message everyone again. "Stop playing around and respond already. We need to plan what to do next. Did anyone record the fight?" Still, no one answered back. I opened the party menu to check the status of everyone. I was completely confused at what I found.
