《Nagol: The Skeleton King》 00 Lights Shadow The throne echoed the sound throughout the land a load thump and scattering of metal. My shield was battered and cracked. My Enchanted sword of light, bestowed on me from the goddess, was ever sharp. The black blood on its blade evaporated, along with the darkness that had loomed over our lands. The Man before me was tall standing over eight feet he dwarfed me but I had severed his dominate hand allowing his hammer to drop to the floor. His armor was thick but nothing could stop "Vigils" blade. His demonic eyes narrowed swinging his shield at me, Hera and Sam shot forth a spell called smite burning his flesh and sending him back several feet. Sam began to chant words of power "Ho, Na, Dul, Ja, Vin.." while Hera sent out her Spirit companion a white sprit wisp that repeatedly flew through the demon lord causing him to burn from the holy light. I began to charge Vigils stone with my Mana ready to strike down the demon. He cast a Demon spell destroying the wisp sending the remaining damage to Hera causing her to fall to her knees. Sam Cast his spell sending a spear of light a 10th tier spell known as Judgment. "Judgment, be done!" Sam yelled as the spear collided with the demon lord, soon spirits of light surrounded him each resembling the pure souls he had slain. they charged into him bursting into light soon the demon lord was also on his knees. Sam limped to Hera and assisted her in standing, I had finished filling the stone for this attack, Sam had used a T10 spell no normal human could survive casting anything above T3-4 Hera my mother had cast T6-7 spells while I could only cast one spell, Mercy. I cast it on my mother and Sam allowing their pain to subside, their fatigue and damage moved to my own body. Sam nodded his thanks while my mother spit blood on the ground. We all approached the demon whom could barely move. He chuckled as I neared him, "You think I am defeated? Do you know what I am?! I have always been, and I will always be!! Death Changes NOTHING!" His voice was vengeful I raised my Sword discarding my shield I readied the stone for its enchantment. Brining the sword down, The stone shined bright light consuming the darkness of his soul. He yelled in defiance radiating more hatred and suffering but the blade continued to disperse the resentments he held. The blades Namesake Vigil was a hero whom discovered the demon king could reincarnate becoming stronger than before, carrying his pain and suffering. The blade forged by the god Kal''Va and the stone of light made from the goddess of light the demon lords soul would be free from pain and suffering allowing him to return as a kind and gentle being. His eyes began to clear becoming soulless I saw his mouth move slightly no words came but I knew he was thanking me. falling forward his body began to disappear leaving behind his armor and Black crown. I embedded Vigil into the ground using the long sword as a Cane, Mercy was considered a T10 spell along with the enchantment on the stone another T10 spell I also poured in the majority of my mana to activate the stone. I was dangerously close to reaching zero mana. I felt my body shaking from the overexertion, I looked behind the opened doors, 58 bodies of Crusaders lay pierced from spears arrows and demon magic. many more demons lay dead but I was mourning the loss of my brothers and the many others whom had lost their lives. The sound of soldiers neared us I knew it was the battle mages of Order. They had been fighting the Demons and closing summoning gates. I knew their battalions consisted of T4-5 Casters the strongest of the mages had been placed in this group to assist us. I also knew the Templars of Order had come each being a Rank 5 warrior with T3 spells. I saw Roland and Margent leading the procession as they neared I felt magic being cast, It wasn''t a healing spell it was a massive joint spell known as Arrow. Soon thousands of magical arrows wisped forward I could not avoid them I was to shocked and Weakened. My mother jumped before me casting a T7 Shield spell, Arrow was known as a T10 spell that required 100 mages to cast. The shield broke and mother cast Bastion making herself bigger and more resilient to physical damage. The magical arrows pierced my mother I could only watch in horror as she fell down lifeless I rose my sword shakily Sam began to cast Mass Teleport but was quickly stopped by a robed figure, I saw his emblem a magic assassin specializing in Stealth and was part of Orders judgment regiment''s. Sams lifeless eyes stared into my own I was filled with his remaining vitality and mana Sam had cast Transfer before the blade had severed his spinal cord. I roared in defiance Charging Roland and Margent, I felt the Goddess of light bursting from my sword, shattering the blade along with the orb imbedded in its hilt. I wielded the hilt using the shard of Vigil as a dagger. I felt power rush through my legs as I Leaped onto Roland his eyes shocked and fearful Margent Cast Force push on Roland sending him flying into the air while I was pushed aside a soldier attempted to stab me but I used my spiked gauntlet to parry the blade sending Vigils broken form into his jugular. Time swept by me as I parried dodged and rolled. Reverse casting Mercy on soldiers causing them to die from my own wounds. I could not find Roland but I herd him shouting at his soldiers Margent cast Invisibility and harried me from the shadows with arcane bolts T5 spell. I ran out of mana after slaying the 435th soldier I was now in the demon kings throne room standing with my back to his throne. I saw Sam and my own mothers body taken away I had attempted to stop them but had lost my left arm in the process I was now cut and mutilated only my legs and right arm worked. I could not turn my head nor could I move my shoulders easily. I was pierced by six spears of lights sending me backwards onto the demon throne. I watched Roland smile and Margents cold stare. I knew I was going to die, I felt Vards call to NelfHi along with Fares call to Death. with a broken smile I Thrust Vigil into my heart twisting it and speaking my death vow. "Death... Ruin... Betrayal... (Crack)... I am... and always be... Nagol son of Sivo... I Bring Nothing... I give nothing... I will... Kill you... All..." Snapping the blade once more I felt my heart being pierced and darkness took me, before I lost my sight I saw dark Swirls of energy gathering around my body causing the Remaining soldiers to back away. The darkness was everywhere, I felt cold and alone. I cursed at the kingdom of order, Feeling the darkness and nothing else I was left to my thoughts. My mother whom shielded me from the world slain, Sam My first friend and teacher murdered. The Order of Light Betrayed for what? We had given the most, sacrificed the most. When others would flee we fought on. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. Ten thousand members of the Light dwindled to an abysmal number 61 then to have us suicidally charge the entrance fight our way to the Elite demonic Legion guarding the demon king. I had trusted the kingdom of order. Their princess Tania was kind and gentle she even demanded I marry her. I began to thrust my self around swinging at nothing yelling at no one in particular I felt the blood rage I had and I was intoxicated by it The kindness I was shown remade into Wrath. I don''t know how long It lasted but after a time I felt a bright light enter my dark world. "Child of mine please let go of your anger... It does nothing but trap you here..." her golden appearance was that of a caring mother dressed in white. Her flawless face wept tears of light. trailing around me I lashed out at the light refusing to let it be done. She and I fought like this for a time, her weeping grew until she was hunched over in pain flouting in the air above me I could see her pain but I only felt Betrayal. Darkness formed beside her a hooded figure whom was armored with black his face and skin were shadows. He was the god of death and she the goddess of light each watching me. Time seamed to stop as the gods conversed between themselves. soon The goddess of light left still weeping, her tears created enough light for me to see the out line of the man whom was left above me. "My sister means well, she had hopped the darkness in men had passed." His voice was an echo like water dripping in a cave. "I will give you your vengeance little one... The land of the demon king is West of your continent Known as The Dark Lands. While your continent is known as the United Kingdoms of Order... I will place you on the Continent north most Humans have long since abandoned it leaving behind mass graves... You Will start your journey here." Lifting his shadowy hands a Mirror of silver appeared before me. I saw an land of rolling hills and grasslands near a rocky beach, farther in lakes froze and tundra''s became snowy valleys and caves of snow. further more Mountain''s formed atop them centaurs and other monster like creatures resided, soon Giant humans 12ft tall filled my vision, they worshiped a statue of a skeleton. Soon we had passed the mountain''s and reached a massive gorge without bridges to a singular land mass a castle resided on its massive pillar of land mass. The continent from my estimations was much larger than the Shadow lands or the kingdom of Orders lands combined. Inside of the castle nothing moved and nothing lived. Nothing guarded the front gate or even stalked the hall almost like an abandoned stronghold, the obsidian walls and floor were midnight black, with red linen and other decorations. The mirror''s image stopped before a Throne made of Black Marble I felt something tug on me brining me closer to the mirror "You will forget many things but rest assured I will keep your memories for you when you require them... good luck, skeleton King..." I passed through the mirror a searing pain ripped the flesh from my body leaving only Bones. I closed my eyes until I felt the ground I felt heavy armor on my body, but it felt hallow. I opened my eyes and began to search my body, I found a book and sword along with a set of black plate mail. I felt wrong something was wrong but I couldn''t understand what. Pushing myself off the ground I walked to my throne and sat on it placing the black book beside myself while placing the sword on its perch letting the black claymore to hover above the ground, its black mist spewing out Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. I pondered to myself what was I doing? I looked at the book beside myself and opened it gingerly reading the pages. Spells and notes, Conjure Bones, Rise undead, Death Bolt, Death Grip, Death Coil, Animate corpse, Breath of Death etc... I knew I could only cast Conjure bones and Rise undead. I searched my mind for my "Status" a T0 magic that anything and anyone can use. << Nagol >> - Skeleton King - -LvL.1 H.P. (250/250) 5/m M.P. (14/500) 30/m C.P. I gave it a moment but nothing came to me I let the darkness take me away I still felt something was wrong... 01 First Memory I was shrouded in darkness, then a light entered my unending darkness. It was a small red orb that shined scarlet, moving around me slowly it was a interesting development from the darkness. "You wouldn''t happen to know the way out, would you?" the orb stopped moving the moment I spoke. I felt something in my mind it was like telepathy. "I am Coral, Curator for the equalizers." Corals voice was masculine and monotone almost like an elder Pixie. "I Must inform you of your station and evaluate your competence, please fallow me." the orb flew off some distance waiting for me. Stupefied I fallowed, after some time I saw a slab of land with many corpses on it. the orb lead me to a platform its smooth metal surface seamed out of place on this scarred earthly land. The orb waited a moment before talking again. "You are charged with balancing the worlds species. You must become a undisputed threat to all living things. We will now start the Raise Dead test, please raise 15 undead." I was not willing to argue with this orb, I could feel a power inside of it that far surpassed my own. Raising my hand I cast Raise dead 3 times. the undead were armed like town militia while undead were not smart they could operate slightly complex weaponry like Bows or Crossbows. 12 of them were armed with shields and swords the other 3 had crossbows. "You are the equalizer, as such you must create fear and hatred towards yourself. Raising the dead of freshly slain combatant''s mid battle is a effective way to unsettle or in rage your enemies." suddenly 8 soldiers appeared rushing at the undead I ordered them to attack, after some time 5 of my undead were slain while only one of the enemy was killed, taking what Coral said I raised him and attempted to raise the fallen corpses of my undead. 2 of my undead got to their feet again along with their new friend. The soldiers were reluctant to fight their fallen friend causing one of them to ignore my undead crossbow men getting himself slain. I promptly raised him and again attempted to raise the fallen undead however none of them got up except for my initial target. "You may not raise an undead whom is injured to such a degree, Undead whom have lost their head or more than 3 limbs are unable to raise. When you are lacking corpses, Conjure bones is an effective way to acquire bulk forces." Casting conjure bones three times I felt that the bones were magical in nature, "Conjure bones is a racial skill of the Skeleton King, Your conjured bones are permanent until risen and slain. Undead created this way will be slightly weaker than their counterpart''s but with numbers this can be mitigated." Nodding my head I raised the 15 skeletons and ordered them to pick up weapon''s from the ground and flank the soldiers whom were beginning to retreat. The skeletons were faster than the zombies and thus stopped the 6 soldiers from falling back, soon they were surrounded and slain by the horde. "Excellent, now we will Test your personal combat skills." after a moment the field was cleared and instead of a battlefield filled with corpses and undead, a arena was placed. 4 half naked gladiators stood 25 feet away. I was garbed in my Black armor with a black shield and a Steel short sword. The gladiators charged me, two with swords and shields, one with a spear another with a Bow. I charged the two swords men with practiced ease, I slid onto my knees and thrust my shield into the shin of one man while cutting the legs of the other, using the momentum from my slide and abrupt impact, I summersaulted forward and landed on my feet. bringing my shield up I felt it thud with an arrow. Swinging around I let go of my sword and grabbed onto the spear that was thrust at my side. Tugging on the spear he was sent forward, I bashed his skull with my own sending him unconscious another arrow took flight, aimed at my legs crouching my shield landed atop the arrow sending it fluttering away harmlessly. I readjusted my grip on the spear and sent it flying, the spear was unbalanced but it flew straight and true piercing the bowman''s through the throat. I then bashed the end of my shield into the unconscious spearman''s neck snapping it. I turned just in time to meet one of the two swordsmen, this was the man I had shield bashed in the shin. Brining my shield up I blocked his attack and bashed into his chest sending him back, the wounded man whom I had cut soon entered with a small limp using his imbalance, I leaped at him grabbing his sword hand and snapping it releasing the sword I twisted his arm and sent him to the ground I then stomped on his neck destroying his wind pipe. I then threw my shield at the last gladiator he was furious that I had shield bashed him twice, the shield slammed into his own, I had charged the moment my shield was flung using the opening from the shield throw I thrust at his side. This man was more skilled than I had gauged, blocking my thrust with his sword. I instantly grabbed his shield and tugged sending him off balance. I kicked at his already bruised knee, buckling under the blow he fell to his knee swiping his sword at me. I promptly severed his hand then with a quick slash cut his throat. kicking his chest he was sent to the ground ending the melee. Taking no hits I was satisfied the fight lasted 15sec. Turning to Coral I bowed, "You have succeeded, now I will test your tactical skills." the field once again changed I was seated in a tent filled with magic mirrors and other officers I was In the largest seat so I assumed I was the general. Looking at the Mirrors I saw a battlefield my forces were garbed in white steel while my enemy was garbed in red. I noted my forces were outnumbered 10/1. We had 250 mages, 500 warriors, 300 archers, 300 Calvary, and 15 paladins. The enemy had 650 mages, 3000 warriors, 850 archers, 500 Calvary, and 25 paladins. I was stationed on a small hill with my soldiers closely packed, I had the mages erect T3 barriers, and an Anti magic barrier my forces were smaller so having them all close together and casting defenses would make the most sense. I then ordered the archers to ready arrows and be placed just behind the warrior line. I had the Calvary and Paladins group up in the back. Paladins were a special class of warrior whom could heal and cast light magic''s acting as shock troopers, each was mounted on a warhorse. Each paladin was worth 150 warriors so sending them to the front would be wasteful. The red see began to descend on us, I knew I would lose but I would at least take out the enemies mages, Ordering my mages to cast defensive magic''s first allowed them to regain their mana and cast attack spells. ordering my mages to cast Arrow one on the Calvary and one on the archers. the remaining fifty would ready Divergence and lesser arrow. Using divergence they could control any spell similar to their own Using lesser arrow I would be able to diverge the two arrow spells right before they hit to target their mages. The attack went smoothly only 48 mages survived the attack, I then had my mages retreated to rest for later, the mages casted Higher Magic barrier on the Calvary and Archers leaving themselves without mana, their forces were moving so casting defensive spells with AOE would be wasteful as they would soon leave the defensive spells zone. their archers entered our line of fire and I had my archers return fire, the shield held for a time but the exchange was half of their archers dead and 3/5s of mine slain. If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. I then had the mages with higher regeneration cast another arrow sending all the remaining archers into oblivion. I was now entering the melee of the fight with my Calvary and Paladins playing chicken with theirs, The remaining archers had free fire to attack the 3000 warriors, losing around 296 before reaching our lines, I had my paladins act as healers for my troops. The mages would be ready for another arrow spell shortly, I lost 350 warriors in the skirmish and 52 Calvary to mages. The arrow spell slew 1000 of the 3000 warriors. along with losing a total of 600 soldiers to arrows and T2-3 mage spells, I had the mages use their own discretion to fight, just like the archers. My paladins rested to regain their mana, with the help of the mages I had slew almost all of the 3000. but I knew this would not be the end. I had noted that 5000 more warriors and 600 Calvary were coming over the hillside. I lost the remaining warriors but finished slaying the enemies warriors, mages, and luckily the Calvary that were harried by the mages. Reforming my battle lines I noted that the paladins returned to their new forces I contemplated how I could possibly inflict the most damage. I couldent come up with anything, until I thought about my other tests, checking my stats I noted that I was still a Skeleton king and had access to my abilities. Leaving the tent I began to raise the enemies soldiers in mass, allowing my soldiers to be cremated or carried off the field. My actions shocked the remaining soldiers but they remained loyal after witnessing my tactical capabilities I saw the paladins were the most distraught by my actions but I Ignored them. Raising the dead I noticed that the Mages made lesser liches and they themselves began to raise their own undead, I casted conjure bones and rested allowing the liches to use the skeletons to bulk up their forces. I now had an army of 250 liches, 4802 undead with my remaining forces. leading the battle I mounted a undead horse and began to lead the assault. My undead clashed with their battle lines, having one of my liches contact the mages I informed them to launch two arrows when able onto the Calvery and warriors. Soon after the Calvary were mulched by arrows I raised half of them before needing to rest the hostile paladins began to assault our undead lines causing havoc. One was quickly killed by three liches. I had my undead attack their mounts, having them fight on the ground would slow their advance. I witnessed the Liches cast Death bolts and other spells killing mass amounts of warriors. the mages launched their arrows spell killing many of the remaining warriors. I had not engaged in melee but soon I was trapped between two paladins I attempted to fight back but was thrown off balance when one of my own paladins cast a Light spear into me. I fell feeling light, soon the world froze and all was still. Coral hovered over me, "As the Skeleton King you have a unique Skill -Undying Lord- and -Death Bound Conviction- While not stated when you are physically slain you will enter this plain of being known as the ether. You may return to your throne and recuperate their retaining your levels, you may also choose to enter the physical plain as a spirit." I Wondered what I would look like in spirit form physically. Thinking about my body I felt a tug and soon entered the battle field as a 12 foot tall apparition. Coral was still linked to me, "In your spirit form you take all the power from Previous Skeleton Kings and contort them into this form, The cost being your levels resetting you to level one, losing all your stat bonuses. Choosing to take this form you will gain no experience." I felt my body filled with strength and power I grabbed hold of something familiar a giant mace I also felt a spiked gauntlet on my hand, "The Mace was the Previous Skeleton Kings weapon of choice, made from the bones of a dying Dragon. The Spiked gauntlet is from the first Skeletal King allowing him to steal the souls of the living to become Physical. The Dragon mace is a ethereal weapon meaning It may enter the physical realm for a time, The Gauntlet is a Soul Reave artifact and will not physically kill the target but drain them of Vitality and Mana while weakening their soul." Feeling this power I swept the mace sending many warriors flying, I then grabbed the paladin next to me with my gauntlet He began to gasp and claw at his throat I lifted him slightly and felt his Life leave him, When you had no mana left you would begin to suffocate and your soul would leave your body. I watched his soul being sucked into the gauntlet His pain and agony filling me with life. He soon went limp and cold, tossing his body aside I began my mindless slaughter of the living around me. My mind went blank with the thoughtless slaughter. I soon turned on my own forces slaying them, I noted that the ones I killed turned into zombies, while the drained became ethereal ghosts that clawed through the living. Soon I was no longer in control of myself and watched as my body became more physical until all the humans were dead. The undead then screeched and fell over limp their souls entering my body filling me with life. I was then back into my Skeletal form equipped with my armor and claymore, Coral came from the sky and began to hover at eye level. "When in Wraith Form you will lose control of your self killing indiscriminately, Only by absorbing the souls of 1000 beings can you return to your physical being, Conjured undead do not have souls." I felt the world change again but this time I was sitting in the black throne, Coral was hovering above the room acting as a light source. "Rest, When you are ready I will take you to the War room and we may start." a ray of red shot out from Coral hitting me, I felt extremely tired once again entering the Darkness... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw a woman dragging me away from a corpse, She had blond hair and gray eyes. Her armor was stark white and she carried a blade of silver. I saw her cast several light spears killing soldiers charging at us. Tears streamed from my face as I was dragged away from the man I screamed, once we left the building she mounted a horse carrying me. She then whispered in my ear "Rest." I felt a sharp pain on my head and soon everything was dark... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 02 The First Step The darkness was different, I felt something under me. looking down I saw bones, a field of bones around me. I saw 4 other fields but they were not like mine, a Forest, Desert, and a pool of blood. The last field a dark fog that reveled nothing. I could not move the bones under me prevented me from moving. while trying to move I noticed I was human again with my holy armor. I could feel my heart pounding, the blood flowing. The forests bushes rustled and I turned to see a Dark elf woman. She wore a purple war dress, her eyes were silver and her hair black. She moved close to my field of bones but stopped at the boarder of her forest. She lifted her armored hand it was the same gauntlet I had when I entered my spirit form. "Who are you?" she smiled at my question and spoke with a ting of amusement. "I was and always will be The Phantom, but to you I am the first Skeleton King. You have inherited my soul stealer." raising her gauntlet to show off its shine. Turning her head towards the desert I followed her gaze and surprisingly a 12 foot tall Ogre armored in red armor stood his smile was sharp uncannily like a predator. His voice boomed with authority "I Gorgon!, Bone Masher From Red Lands! Next Skeleton King! You gets my Fury!" pounding his chest I could see red lines of lightning sprout out from his fists. He turned to face the blood pool, I watched the blood pool ripple and a small boy came up from the blood. His eyes were red and his skin pail, I knew he was a Vampire Lord just from his white hair. His meek voice sounded like a frightened child. "i-I am n-Nadi, I was t-the third Skeleton King... You have my Passive control over undead!" The child shied away from the darkness, unlike the other three The darkness parted and a woman walked out of its depths. Wielding the massive Dragon Mace, she moved unhindered towards me, she stepped on the bone field and continued to walk towards me, She flipped her golden hair back revealing her face. I was awestruck she resembled my mother, She wore Holy armor much like myself and her blue eyes pierced my soul. "I am Holly, daughter of Vigil and Founder of The Order of Light, but you knew this already..." tossing the mace to the side she ran up to me and embraced me, she whispered in my ear "My Grandson..." Something broke as she whispered to me, I felt a powerful shudder inside of myself, Rage, Pain, Joy, a few broken Memories. I gasped in realization that Coral was controlling my mind. My grandmother squeezed me tightly until the sensation of Corals control faded. She released me and stared into my eyes. "Coral is a Spirit that has long since controlled the skeleton king, the gods don''t know it but Phantom encountered Coral and was quickly controlled by it." Shivering she held onto me again, "Coral has controlled us since the beginning, I will give you my gift to fight its influence." Three items formed behind Holly. The black spell book from the throne room, The Black Claymore that resembles Vigil, and a ball of darkness. Holly grasped the sword and gave it to me, "The sword can manifest 4 greater undead each will resemble one of us trapped here and we can use them to assist you in times of need for a single day every week." Lifting the spell book she opened it to a blank page handing it to me. "The Black Book contains all information from dead beings, all you need to access their knowledge is a piece of them or an item that they cherished." She then turned to the black orb of shadows, she quickly thrust it into my chest tears filled her eyes. "This will allow you to hide your mind in my Aura shielding you from Coral, when you wake up Don''t fight Coral. He has no attack spells and he is physically a glass orb. The darkness will slowly corrode his mind and allow you to control him. Do as he says for a time..." The field of bones began to lift sending Holly back into the Darkness. She yelled as I was flung into the Air "YOU HAVE THE ABILITY TO CREATE STRONGER UNDEAD!!! DO NOT FORGET WHO YOU ARE NAGOL!!!" The darkness took me again but I could feel it pulling me towards my undead body. Feeling a searing pain I woke up on the throne. Coral was missing, but I knew he was close, Rage filled me as I thought about Coral controlling my great grandmother. I looked at my armored hands, I could feel my bones devoid of flesh. Picking up the book, I thought about my human body. << Nagol >> -Human- -Holy Knight- ~DEAD~ H.P. (0/1,987,436,980) M.P. (0/9,029,502,921) S.P. I felt a pang of regret I was the first person to ever reach such a level. I was young and strong, but I took a closer inspection of my current EXP. I would never level up, I knew this for a fact. It would take 1,000 level 500''s to even near the required amount to level up. I was a skeleton Immortal I had time, Magic allowed humans to live past their normal life times. Its not odd to see 400 year old wizards. It would take them decades to reach T6 spells. Sam my oldest friend was one of the first mages and was considered a national treasure casting T9 spells left and right and some times a T10. Closing the book I stood, grasping the sword hovering beside me. I stepped down from the thrones pedestal and descended the stairs leading to the two heavy doors. Pressing my hand on its obsidian frame, It slid open slowly. I walked passed the doors and continued to walk down the red carpet. The green torches that lit the hallways flickered, large glass windows showed the outside courtyard and the eternal abyss surrounding the fort. I felt a strong pull to a pathway leading to a flight of stairs. letting this pull lead me I fallowed several minuets passed before I reached a large room with a Large map. 9 Continents filled its frame with a Black star on the largest continent that marked our location. I sat down in a large chair in front of a large table. I looked at the table it held a smaller version of the map and had several black rocks and white rocks to depict troops. The table was not cleared off from the last time it was used. I saw 1500 black rocks with 690 white rocks. Apparently my grandmother was wining the war until Coral intervened opening up a weak point that was quickly exploited. Finding a large book I began to read it, it was filled with tactical insight and arbitrary forms of combat specifically used to fight the living. Using a corpse division of children on the front lines, while having thousands of undead birds assault villages and letting the birds die over crops to pollute the livestock and grains, slowly weakening the population over decades. Reading the books I felt disgusted but continued to read, one day I might need to use these tactics. I was half way through the book reading about using the corpses of insects and rats to spread plagues in water ways I felt Coral enter through the door. He opened and closed the door with a red tentacle. Hovering over the map he swiped the rocks to the side into barrels with other rocks. "I have found a suitable location for you to obtain corpses, however I will require you to create half a legion before hand, please fallow me." Coral glided over to one of the many indents in the room, hovering over a silver platform. Stepping into the indent I felt a surge of magic and soon found myself in a smaller war room. It had one indent with a silver platform along with a smaller scaled map. Coral lead me passed several passage ways until we reached a courtyard. The building was not the obsidian Castle I had previously been in but a small fort near the coast. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. I noted the grime and dirt on the fort along with the scattered weapons and armor. Coral positioned himself in the middle of the courtyard, "Please create 1000 skeletons." doing as I was told I began to conjure bones resting in between to let my mana regenerate. after I had casted Conjure bones 200 times I began to raise dead what peaked my interest was my C.P. went down as I raised the undead. "Control Points represent how many undead you can control at a Time each skeleton will require 1 C.P. Once you reach your Max C.P. you can sacrifice the undead to raise your C.P. by 500. and raise your M.P. by 50." The 1000 skeletons stood at attention waiting, "Reach out with your mind and feel the undead, Will them to Die for you." closing my eyes I began to feel the control I had over the undead. I felt a flame between each undead, spreading my mind out I could see all the skeletons fires. Clasping my hand I imagined the skeletons dying and pulled at the fires bringing them closer to me. the skeletons went limp and their bones began to disappear. I felt the flames rush towards me filling me until I felt a searing pain fill my chest. I opened my stats to see the change. << Nagol >> - Skeleton King - -LvL.1 H.P. (250/250) 5/m M.P. Will your spell to conjure Orc bones instead of Human bones, note that you will only create enough bones to create 2 Orc Skeletons." Something entered my mind a vision of a skeleton thicker and stronger than a Human appeared. I felt it was denser than normal and would take several hits from Iron weapon''s before crumbling. Casting the spell I felt the bones weight hit the ground like rocks. Waiting for a few minuets until I had the necessary C.P., I than casted Conjure bones but this time creating human skeletons. I than Cast Raise dead on all 7 skeletons. I opened my eyes to see two 6-7 foot tall skeleton orcs with five 5-6 foot tall human skeletons. I than ordered the skeletons to fight. The Orc skeletons demolish the Human skeletons with each swing. I noted that Orc skeletons were slower but still faster than zombies. Coral waited until my experiment was over I could not read a Orbs mood but I felt he was amused. "I will return in a weeks time to lead you to your first conquest. you will require 10,000 CP, I will leave you with information on Giant bones and Conjure Wraith." Quote:Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 8 Chapter 16: The Third Prime Evil The Skeleton King is a unique race created from the fallout of the Prime War when mages were more common and mana saturated the earth. The god of death Varian with his brothers Shadow and Plague found the world shattered and broken from the overwhelming force used by mages. using the magic in the land created a massive curse allowing undead to raise from the ground. This quickly destroyed the living populations fearing for her children the goddess of Life, beseeched the god of Souls and Renewal to hinder the undead. The god of Souls and Renewal refused but the goddess of Light intervened asking her brother Shadow to create a unique race to quell the undead to allow life to flourish. Shadow persuaded the other dark gods to allow a unique race to exist one that would become the Equalizer between life and death. The agreement allowed for one being to exist at a time, A being made of multiple Souls, able to control the undead to a finer degree than Liches, with the soul of a -Hero- and having lost everything before death. These conditions have been met several times in history. The First Skeleton king was not even named as such, She was the Phantom Reave, a Dark Elf Who''s story has been lost to time. Secant an Ogre/Orc/Human mixed creature whom tried to unite all living beings. Third was the Vampire Lord Whom was to be crowned King of the undead slain by his sister Lilith for being a pacifist, This is were the Title Skeleton King cames from. The last Hero is unknown as the individuals history was erased We do know whoever it was happened to be one of the Carnax a bestial race that shares the appearance of humans but varies from time to time. Their stats are unique as Orcs are strong and humans are balanced Carnax seam to vary from God like strength to Inhuman Foresight. The Skeleton King has always been slain when met in a Melee as They appear to be stronger than average but only by Exiling the Skeleton King will his undead minions dissipate. The Goddess of light has warned humanity to never Break The Sacred Orb of Binding. Other wise all the mana in the world will once again feed the undead allowing them to grow stronger. ~Mal The Wonderer
Feeling reinvigorated I began to created skeleton orcs until I reached my maximum C.P. consuming the fires again my C.P. and M.P. rose. I remembered what my grandmother had told me, I had the ability to create stronger undead. Thinking about it I decided to try and just have my undead fight each other for experience but that didn''t work. I was scratching my skull for some time until I remembered the soul fires. Using the fire from an orc I placed its fire inside of another orc, the result was interesting. the first orc dissipated while the secant orc skeleton flashed with a white light then returned to normal. Taking my armored gauntlets finger I scratched off some bone dust from the glowing orc and another idle orc. << Skeleton Orc >> LvL.1 H.P. (35) M.P. (1) >>>>>>>>>>>>> << Skeleton Orc >> LvL.2 H.P. Each Wraith cost me 25cp, and they flew through the air passing through walls and even the ground. I wanted to check the wraiths stats but when I tried the wraith would pass by my fingers, attempting to garner some information from the wraiths I attempted to close the book while it passed through. the book refused to give me information or the wraith was simply seen as a living thing? I thought it was funny and chuckled to myself. Reaching out at the wraith I pulled its fire into myself, nothing happened aside from the wraith dispersing. I then tried to pull its fire into an Orc Skeleton, I was shocked to see the orc glow for a moment then implode on itself. The bone shards splintered all over the courtyard dispersing into a steam like mist. I then had a Human Skeleton back away from me and attempted the same thing on it. The Skeleton glowed but then began to change until the skeleton was covered in a simple red robe and had a bone like staff its bones now had some skin and muscle rotting away. Shocked I noticed this wasn''t a Skeleton anymore but a Lich. Taking my book I took some of its dead skin rotting on the liches arm and allowed the book to consume it. << Lesser Lich >> LvL.1 H.P. I do remember that the undead needed four times the numbers of the living in most battles. I never heard of Undead leveling up before, does that mean I don''t have to abide by the same rule? I looked at the twelve foot giant skeletons, their massive bodies were stronger than normal their growth was terrifying. << Giant Skeleton >> LvL.2 (0%) H.P. (350) M.P. I experimented with giving Giant soul fires to lesser undead, Human skeletons gained 50 levels Orc skeletons 25, Lesser lichs 5. the Wraiths I still could not see their stats. I debated whether or not to switch out the human Skeletons with some Wraiths. after some thought I decided to add 2 wraiths (50cp) to each group now that the lesser lichs had 50 more CP. Each group was now comprised of 1 Lesser Lich, 2 Wraith (50cp), 2 Giants (100cp), 6 Orc Skeletons (150cp), and 50 Human Skeletons (50cp), 61 undead in each group. I had one group higher level than the others with a level 5 lesser lich that has 550cp, 2 giants lvl 2 (100cp), 4 wraiths lvl ? (100cp), 10 orc skeletons lvl 15 (250cp), and 100 human skeletons lvl 25 (50cp). I would use this group as my personal bodyguards. I thought about naming the Lesser lich of this group, he was different from the others, He actually retreated and had a sense of tactical understanding. Thinking about it I came to the conclusion that lichs were intelligent. They would never speak back to me but I could feel their reverence towards me. This particular lesser lich was the first I had made, I thought of a few names but none of them really stuck. My experiment''s confirmed 3 things of interest: 1. lesser Liches are intelligent. 2. Undead can be upgraded. 3. I only need to consume undead soul fires equal to my Maximum C.P. not all of my undead. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ 04 Trial and Error The Sixth day had passed and now I was prepared to greet Coral. I had leveled up all of my lichs to 5, while getting my bodyguard lich Varik to level 10. Normal soldiers would have 250-1000 H.P. and 100-1000 M.P. depending on their class and level. My forces could almost rival a regiment of human soldiers. This was not bad, normally undead have to have a vast majority of the forces on any given battlefield. If I wanted to fight a normal Legion of forces I would need 4-8 times the Level one variant''s to even stand a chance. Undead don''t usually kill your soldiers until a few hours of battle had passed, the only real threat that came from undead were Spirits, Liches and unique undead. the normal stratagem was to outlast the undead while sending shock troopers to kill the Spirits and liches. I could create a wave of level 1 liches and send them in to cover the level 5 liches making it appear that the undead are fallowing the normal strategy, I would need to find actual corpses to make this work, my undeads bodies evaporate making it hard to believe they are normal undead. I decided it was a wise investment to create more Liches, I created 200 more lichs keeping them at level 1-2, while giving them level 1-5 undead. I also needed more undead to increase my M.P. and C.P. I still don''t know what level my Wraiths are at, but the ones I increase the most are in my body guard squad, I was now capped at 6,000 CP. I had noticed the decrease in experience gain for the human and orc skeletons around level 25, at 50 they stopped leveling completely. I would sigh if I had lungs but I was content with the circumstances, complaining about the bottle cap would be like biting the hand that feeds you. Instead I silently thanked the gods that placed me here. with my 300 Lich''s I now only had a few hours before sunset. I had not explored the Fortress and boredom became a new found companion. The fort was nestled in a large Plateau along a chain of gaint sharp rocks. giving the fortress a natural defense. The fort had three courtyards with three different layers of walls. The first wall is at the base of the mountain with the largest courtyard behind it. the two outer walls are 30ft tall and 8 feet thick, having a semi hallow inside allowing for archers to use the walls many portholes to rain death on their enemies. the wall came close to a steep incline making it almost imposable to reach with ladders, the only real path led to the main gate. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. after this was another incline with a set of stairs leading to the secant wall. The difference between the outer wall and this wall was the natural caltrops of jagged rocks leading to the wall, like before the only real path was the stair way. The courtyard behind this wall had many houses and buildings, forges armories and storehouses. The last wall was probably the most daunting 45ft tall and 15ft thick the top of the wall jetted out slightly, and had sharp edges along its surface. The portholes each had a separate room behind it with a ballista and several bows with enchanted arrows. If my memory about sieges serves me right, it would take around 350,000 veterans with a detachment of 25,000 mages and 50 paladins to take this fort. The Paladin class was rarer than Mages every 1,000,000 people were born with this class and usually lived passed 250 years old, some even lived to be 500 years old, the oldest being a 10,000 year old man whom is currently serving the king of Order as his bodyguard. I went to the war room I first arrived in and checked the map on the wall. I was currently on the south-east beach one of two locations on this continent were the water and jagged rocks split open allowing ships to enter. Rummaging trough the books and journal''s I found, entertaining myself with somewhat useful information. This fort is called "Dragons Maw" and was created by the first human king, the only city on the cotenant was abandoned after it was taken over by Harpies. Dragons Maw, Red Vain, and Dagger Valley were the three main forts that acted as shelter for local villages. after the city "Bastion" fell the kingdom fell into three separate factions, named after the fort they occupied. Dagger Valley''s resident''s wanted to retake Bastion, while Dragon''s Maw started to craft boats to leave the continent. Red Vain''s resident''s wanted to stay in their fort, being the largest they were actually a close secant to being a city. Daggers Valley succeeded in taking back the city but quickly died out from starvation and Illness brought by the Harpy''s. Dragons Maw was finishing their last boat and invited the people from Red Vain to join them, some did but the rest stayed in their city. The last entry was from the new King his destination was South West, if they did not reach land in four months than they would turn to the east. one of his mages that was a Diviner said their were two landmasses close to them. This war room was originally the kings bedroom and was reinvented by the third skeleton king, Nadi. Using his undead he claimed Dragons Maw, Dagger Valley, and Bastion, renaming it Hivain after Fare the god whom leads souls to NelfHi. Nadi refused to enter Red Vain, something slaughtered all the humans and was using their blood to grow a Seethe Tree. Taking a moment to remember its location, I considered that area as a hazard and to not fuck around Red Vain. I continued to read for a few hours until I felt a strong pull to the front gate. Closing the book I was reading, I grabbed my Claymore and Black book before running to the battlements. In front of the fort stood my army, 300 Liches (45,000cp), 600 Giant skeletons (30,000cp), 3,000 wraiths (76000cp), 4,500 orc skeletons (112,500cp) and 105,000 human skeletons (105,000cp). my liches combined gave me around (360,000cp) total I was left with around (36500cp) I was never good with math and even with my undead body became bored with the tedious process. I felt inclined to create more undead producing a regiment to act as the vanguard. 50 giant skeletons (2,500cp) 500 orc skeletons (12,500cp), 300 wraiths (7,500), and 10,000 human skeletons (10,000cp) leaving my liches with (4,000cp) and I still had (6,000cp) I could produce 40 more liches giving myself a boost of (42,000cp). The red orb Coral was hovering over my forces, he slowly floated towards me. I could feel his power, it was not as overbearing as before. The orb stopped five feet away from me and whipped at a red tentacle holding a scroll. "Your current forces are adequate, a seethe tree that was placed here during the secant skeleton kings reign as evolved into a rage variant." I silently cursed to myself, seethe trees infect living beings with one of the 3 known variants. Rage, Magic, and blood. Rage makes creatures aggressive and hungry ravaging the land for food, seethe trees are usually destroyed by a contingent of paladins, crusaders or mages. Coral opened the scroll and handed it to me. It was a magic scroll that could imbue a being with a -spell-, -ability- or -Skill-. -Skill- are passive and don''t cost anything to use. -Spells- cost M.P. and cause a mental strain on the user. while -ability- are a unique -Spell- that does not cost M.P. I closed the locket and placed it inside of my armor safe from the coming battle... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ 04.5 Tania: Dawn and Dusk The suns rays reached over the cities walls beaming into the castle. The streets were filled with bustling citizen''s joyful and carefree. The news from the front came yesterday the demon king is trapped inside of his castle and the siege will start today. The King has made his way over to the order of lights temple to pray for the safe return of Nagol, Son of Sivo. Preparation''s for a festival were already underway. Inside of the castle the nobles all congregated having a grand feast to celebrate the siege. Salina, the queen lifted her glass and cleared her throat, "Today marks the final battle for peace, We have all suffered greatly but I thank you for your assistants over these past ten years." Salina''s gaze glanced over everyone present. "I as the queen of Order am delighted to grant the son of Sivo a fiefdom and granting him the title of Aver!" many of the nobles gasped in disbelief Sivo was a traitor leaving the nobility to raise his child in secret. Aver is a title that grants any -Hero- nobility equal to royalty, allowing them to marry into the royal family if they choose to. Salina was offering one of her daughters to Nagol. Establishing a relationship between the war hero and her family. The nobles squabbled for a time but settled down as the queen gave them a stern stare. Opening her arms and turning to the double doors as they opened "I will allow Nagol, Aver, Son of Sivo to wed one of my daughters!" five women walked through the doors. Ralia the eldest a gentle woman whom spends her time weaving works of art. Nadia, the secant eldest a strong headed woman whom trained with the royal guard at the age of six, learning how to be a competent general and tactician. Fane, a powerful mage and is usually seen as the now it all amongst the group. Kelina a mage that was gifted a unique ability, Soul song allowing her to sing magical incantations. and lastly Tania whom has just reached the age of sixteen, the youngest and rudest of the group she spent most of her days reading and learning how to be a proper wife. The majority of the nobles were still simmering with rage but Salina is also one of the few -Holy Knight- class holders. Holy Knights are stronger than normal knights and can rival heroes, Nagol is a -Hero- and -Holy Knight- making him the strongest hero to ever exist. Even with his ridicules power, everyone gets tired. The stronger you are the more Stamina you consume. Salina ran away at a young age to become an adventurer, she was currently the highest level in the royal family, (lvl 98). Salina motioned for the five to sit at the head of the table. The five princesses were hailed as the kingdoms jewels. Each had spent time with Nagol and had agreed to a sort of competition. Among human royalty there is a game that is played to determine whom will be wed to a -Hero-. Taking all of the potential suitors and having them fawn over the -Hero- until he chooses one. (The kingdom of order allows for multiple woman to be wed to a single man, however he must have a level equal to the added total) Tania kept her head up, Staring straight at her mother with a smile. Tania had taken the hero to the Mountain of Fates and was blessed by The Goddess of light and War. The goddess of light bestowed her with -Divine Bound- while the god of war gave them each a blood diamond ring. The gem in the ring is a powerful tool capable of collecting experience and bonus stat points gradually over time, Tania did not let anyone see her stats. The goddess of light even gave her a Class. << Tania Evian Order >> -Human Royalty- -Dawn Priest- H.P. (1,200/1,200) 50/r M.P. (30,000/30,000) 200/r S.P. The nobles calmed down after thinking about how they can give gifts to coarse the hero to ally with them. The King finally returned from the light temple as the sun began to set. The royal family was standing outside of the royal castle were the hero would be teleported to after the siege. Tania was dressed in a white silver dress made to resemble her class of Dawn Priest. No one thought it was strange for her to request the garment as it was one of the dresses used by The Order of Light. She even used her own allowance to obtain the enchanted version used by actual priests. The sun was now behind the view of the far walls and still had some light shining to allow the festival to continue without torches. When the sun sets in the Continent of order the shadow lands have a gray morning sky. Tania sat beside her sisters waiting for the waystone to activate. "Tania, why are you wearing that getup?" Fane watched Tania dressed like a dawn priest but thought it was just her younger sister playing dress up. "Its not a getup!" Tania hissed at her sister and drew her in close. "I wasn''t going to tell you until I announced it but I got my class three months ago!" Fane eyes opened in surprise. "Your a Dawn Priest?" Tania nodded with enthusiasm "Yep, I got it after traveling with Nagol. I didn''t tell him yet." Fane straitened her poster and cleared her mind by casting -Calm- on herself several times. "Tania, Dawn priests are a powerful class and you obviously have the maturity and good sense to not tell father about this, don''t do anything stupid alright?" Tania smiled at her sister and conjured a small ball of light, changing its color to match the rainbow. "I already know how to control the light element so its alright." throwing the ball of light at a rude noble the light ball exploded into multicolored glitter making the noble look like a clown. The princesses laughed at the noble whom ran off to change his cloths. "That was unladylike like Tania." Fane began to scold her sister but her stern face cracked and she smiled. "Now the noble has to worry about you and mother!" the two girls laughed as the festival continued. Tania pulled out a locked and opened it inside was the blood diamond ring and a portrait of Nagol in his Magic Steel armor. His cherry blond hair was shoulder length. His blue eyes had a golden ring around his pupil with streaks of white dancing in it. Tania brushed her fingers over the portrait and the ring inside. Five dawn priests moved forward in unison. Each carrying a banner resembling the five chairs of Light. Nagols flag stood at the front as the vanguard of the Crusade. Hera''s banner had the mark of a Dawn priest. Sam''s banner fluttered as the Light Mage regiment. Simons banner fluttered with the sigil of Light, healers whom took an oath of nonviolence. Finally the last banner who''s seat was recently filled by a young girl Canirus, The Argent or medium the ones who mingle with the commoners of the land and to protect the innocent no matter its form. Simon was currently acting as the backline healer for the costal regiments fighting off pirate attacks. Canirus is in the south marsh lands healing the sick and teaching the people of the marsh how to defend themselves from the marshes monsters. Canirus was saved by Nagol during a bandit raid and has been trained by Simon to use the light element to heal and shield becoming a -Bastion Priest-. Simon was Sivo''s closest confidant and friend, Hera and Simon are the only two founders alive. Simon worships the goddess of light with reverence and passion he is the most devote out of the original five becoming a -Light Priest-. The banners were before the waystone, and the Priests kneeled. 50 other members of the order of light stood the youngest Crusaders ready to greet their brothers in arms. Tania knew the five dawn priests. Ta, Se, La, Vu, Na. Each priest is given their name by the goddess of light after they reached level 100. Only 100 dawn priests are present at any given time. all of them served the order of light, just like Holy Knights. Holy knights had no limit but were almost completely unable to cast normal magic. Each Holy Knight has one unique ability. currently 150 holly knights serve the order of light. 50 are with Nagol, while the others are with Simon and Canirus. Tania watched in awe as she noticed the armor unique to Holy Knights. 10 of the new crusaders were wearing it, 35 wore normal Crusader armor while 5 had robes of the Light Magi. this batch of crusaders are the best of their class. over 1,000 crusaders are trained yearly. only 50 will be allowed to join the crusade each year. The rest return to their studies and training until they are ready to join the 50,000 strong order. 10,000 of the current crusaders are with Nagol. Salina stood and used magic to raise her voice. "The Sun has set and the day has been laid to rest!, Let the light of our passion bring forth the Dawn!!" an attendant beside her raised a bow of gold to the queen. Taking it she raised it to the heavens and a magical arrow of light materialized as she let go of the bowstring. The arrow flew to the sky and exploded in a glories light torches and braziers set before sunset were drawing in the light. soon the unlit streets were filled with the healthy glow of light. Many of the citizens cheered while the younger ones gasped in shock. Sivo''s bow of light was given to the current king by Sivo, and is used only on special occasions like the crowning of a new king or the death of a hero. Tania and the royal family sat like statues with the Order of lights priests they would guard the Waystone through the night. The city of order was filled with joy, The light from the bow would allow them to always be at max H.P. S.P. and M.P. many warriors trained during this time. Tania manipulated her M.P. to become light apparitions, to dance with the children. it would normally take 100mp to sustain the illusions but tonight she could train her Magic control without worry. The King and queen meditated for most of the night, Tania''s sisters also meditated and occasionally cast their spells into the sky. Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site. The sky was so peaceful the moon shinned with its radiance. Tania felt her bond but strangely it was muddied and dull. This usually happened when the hero was low on M.P. and his soul weakened slightly. His M.P. usually was near empty due to all of the fighting and mana he needed to use to empower his armor and sword. thinking nothing of it she hummed a song sung by Nagol "Winter comes again it comes, its cold embrace holds the land, sleep my sun for your day is done... Rest for now, my warmth and life. Rest for now, and I will sing my song, if you your lullaby... Sleep my light! Dream of sheep!, rest for me, my restless sun... When you wake I''ll sing my song, and you your lullaby... Lay me down, my morning light, let me rest in your embrace... Sing me a song, the night it done! when you sing know a reaver sleeps..." Tania''s memories shifted to the first time she had met Nagol. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -4 years ago- "Princess..." Nogal stood above Tania armed and cautiously watching his surroundings. opening her eyes she saw Nagol and his Holy Knight armor. "..n..waa?" wiping the sleep from her eyes Tania sat up. Quickly moving Nagol scooped the princess up and ran from the tent. Behind them several Golems chassed them. Tania was wade awake and screamed in fear, the golems were shaped like wolves and drenched in blood. Fires raged around them as the camp was set on fire by several mages. Royal guards attempted to fight the overwhelming number of golems. Nagol''s breath was even and calm running away from the fight. several times nagol imbued mana into his gauntlet and a bolt of magic would shoot out destroying any golem that would attack them. In front of them a mage fell from the sky and casted -Stone Spear- Nagol shifted his body and took the stone spear to his side. Blood splattered onto the ground, Nagol using the spears impact to send his body backwards he summersaulted and threw his imbued sword at the mage. landing on his side he kept the princess above him to prevent harm the princess yelped at the sudden movement, the mage fell as he clutched at the fiery sword burning through his body. several golems fell but many more still fought. Nagol clutched his side and imbued mana into his wristband his wound slowly closed. getting up he imbued mana into his right ring finger and his sword flew into his hand. Moving forward he held the princess with his free hand and charged forward imbuing mana into his armored boots. Tania watched the holy knight in awe, normally enchantments would dissipate after using them once. Holy knights could use magic items and enchantments without damaging them. The crusader continued to mow down anyone who tried to stop him. Soon they reached a clearing and the Knight pulled out a magic crystal. It was enchanted with two spells, Greater Blink and Signal. Greater blink would allow one person to blink a days worth of distance away while Signal would send a magical signal to a person you had met before hand. The crusader fort Valor was half a day away. Imbuing mana into the crystal the knight was about activate the enchantment when three mages burst through the forests brush casting dispel and silence. The crystal shattered and Nagol quickly pulled forth a scroll and commanded the air around it to cast its spell. The spell enveloped the princess and created a T8 barrier and T6 invisibility. Nagol let the princess down and motioned for her to hide, while lifting his sword to fight the three mages. "Fool! you think you can hide her from us!" Nagol swept his sword and entered a defensive stance. Fifteen golems burst from the ground and rushed at Nagol. Sweeping his sword while imbuing the natural magic in the air he lit his sword with a fire. It was weaker than when he imbued it with his own mana but being silenced locked his M.P. from being used. The swords fire lashed out several feet from him and started to burn the rocky golems. The heat softened them for his blade, cutting through three golems with ease. His chest plate glowed with mana and he blinked forward to one of the mages. The mage rolled forward and cast -Magic Bolt- three magical bolts flew at Nagol. Sweeping his sword forward the flame clashed with the mages T3 barrier. Bringing his blade down he imbued its hilt creating his own barrier. The magical bolts cracked the magical shield but it held. The mage blinked twice away from Nagol. "You cant save her boy!" the older mage of the three stepped forward and cast -Stone Arrow- T4. 35 arrows of stone clashed into the cracked shield. The shield broke as half the arrows finally destroyed it. Nagol Released the mana in his boots and was sent forward at a blinding speed. Four of the arrows crashed into him but the spell his boots were using was known as -Greater Charge- a T5 spell that forced the body of its user forward ignoring everything to send its user 50ft forward. shooting past the mage, his blade cut through his T3 barrier and decapitated the mage, blood splattered on his silvery armor. The two mages cast a joint spell -Iron Spears- a T5 spell. 5 iron spears flew at Nagol. all five landed on his body skewering his already bloody body. Using what little mana he could muster from the air he imbued his Swords pommel the Silence spell dissipated and Nagol cast his Ability at the two mages. 5 holes appeared on the mages chests and they fell. Nagol''s mana and stamina was drained leaving him with 5 M.P. and 35 S.P. Falling down his wounds healed but the strain from casting his ability was to much. Mercy was a unique spell, costing M.P. and S.P. to cast. If cast on an enemy it would deal the same amount of damage received and heal the user. Casting Mercy allowed one to take the pain and ailments of another, while casting it in reverse you would feel the collective pain of yourself and the ones you cast it on. If they died you would feel like you had also died. Tania gasped as three T4-5 mages were killed by a -Holy Knight- she had heard they were insanely powerful when armed with their Holy armor and weapons. noticing the blood and guts of the three mages Tania vomited her dinner, Seven of her royal guards emerged from the forest. 5 Knights Rank 3-5 and 2 Battle Mages Rank 3 and T4-5. "Quickly Heal the Crusader!" Hearing the princesses voice one of the battle mages rushed forward and began to heal Nagol. the rest of the Royal guards ran to form a protective wall around Tania. "My lady forgive me, We have driven the Stone Mages back but they will return we must move quickly!" The battle mage was an old bodyguard named Lucy she has served as Tania''s personal bodyguard since she was three. Nodding her head Lucy grabbed Tania and rushed forward. The last battle mage used levitate on Nagol and ran beside Lucy. The group ran for the entire night until they reached Valor a Crusader Temple that was expecting their arrival. Tania refused to leave the Crusader alone, one of the dawn priest''s present looked after him and blessed the Crusader. Taking the crusaders armband the dawn priest froze in fear. "Call the diviner at once!" a messenger boy quickly ran from the room to get the diviner. Tania was frightened Diviners could speak through the soul and communicate with other diviners. "What is happening?!" the dawn priest turned to Tania and shook her head "This boy is a judicator." lifting the arm band Tania looked confused "Judicator?" The dawn priest sighed and turned to watch Nagol, "His name is Nagol and he is the son of Sivo, His status alone makes him a figure head, but he is a Holy Knight and possesses the armband of a judicator; an heir to the Order of light." Tania''s eyes widened an heir to the order of light, the most powerful organization in the kingdom. The door burst open as a white robed man entered his eyes were clear white and showed no emotion. "Inform our lady of the boys condition and request that The Light Magi purge the location of these rebels. The diviner closed his eyes his staff shined white and when he opened his eyes they flickered light and slowly returned to their clear white appearance. Several days passed until two people entered the room yelling at each other. "I told you he was not ready!, He needs more training throwing him into battle so soon will only get him Killed!" the mage was furious and his body emanated raw mana. the woman beside him ignored him walking forward and placing her hand on the boy. "And I told you he is a Holy Knight that has passed his Rank 3 trails and T4 Enchantment classes." The mage threw up his arms and blinked on the other side of the boy. "Look here Hera I may have promised Sivo that I would train him but I don''t approve of your blatant disregard!, He didn''t even passed his Element and Math Classes!" Hera turned to the mage and threw a sneer "He is a Warrior by nature and nothing you say or do will ever change that!, He is ready and he needs to see the world for what it is!" Hera''s fist slammed into the table beside her breaking it without even turning to see the tables splintered remains she turned to the dawn priest that was now shaking. "What is his current condition?" the dawn priest cleared her throat and moved forward handing a paper to Hera, "His body is showing signs of improvement but he was under the effects of -Mana Burn- -Extreme Overexertion- -Mental Strain- -Deaths Door 8- -Shock- -Coma- -Punctured lung- and several cases of -Broken Bone-" taking a deep breath she continued "We were able to heal -Punctured lung- and the -Broken Bone- lowering -Deaths Door 8- to -Deaths Door 7- our medical staff uncovered that his heart stopped beating for a minuet before he could be somewhat healed and stabilized. We believe his injures were even greater, taking into account that Mana Burn requires the user to cast 2 or 3 spells that exceed their expertise we believe he cast Mercy in reverse 2-3 times and imbued his Blink plate, Charge Boots, Blade abilities, and a Retreated stone that shattered." pulling out a tray it held many small shards of spikes, "We removed these from his left hand." While the priest was talking another table was brought in and the Dawn Priest placed the tray on it. "We have also confirmed that he manipulated Natural mana and is currently fighting off the chaotic elements mana that is in corrupting his M.P. regeneration slowing his recovery." Hera clenched her fist several times blood leaked from her hand as she dug into her own flesh. Casting an ability is dangerous its level of skill needed is unknown, but some have been categorized Mercy is considered a T10 spell and would normally kill its user. Nagol was indeed at deaths door, Falling to her knees she Prayed to the goddess of light and Fares to bring her Child home. Sam covered his face and shook his head, his eyes were wet and his mouth quivered. Blinking several times he ended up on the roof of the building and cast several T9-10 spells at the sky screaming and cursing. Tania watched in terror from the corner. Hera and Sam were the two most powerful warriors/spell casters in the country. Tania had met Sivo and Hera once, she quickly knew that Hera was Nagols mother. running over to the woman who was pleading with the gods she wrapped her arms around the Dawn priest leader, and wept with her. Humming filled the air as light filtered in through the window. Light mana streamed into Nagol raising his body Hera continued to pray. The light took on Nagols voice and hummed a song, his body warped and light covered him his status slowly returned to normal. the humming stopped and a small golden tattoo lay on his chest, he opened his mouth and song a song. it was the Reevers lullaby... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ 05 Revelations of the Undead I woke up inside of the Dragon''s Maw war room. I felt enraged that I had been played with by Coral. I got up from the chair I was placed in and walked outside. Varik was standing guard outside of the war rooms door, I motioned for him to follow. The Red Horde is a phenomenon that accurse when a Rage seethe tree is born. Thinking about it, the seethe tree would need to be removed before I would feel safe about my standing. Creatures caught by the seethe trees poison would be controlled by it and act like a pack of animals, eventually seethe trees become sentient and begin to attack settlements. I felt something inside of myself, an image of a sword. It was made of bone... snapping back I focused on my spell -Conjure bone- information pored into my mind. It was still a painful experience to have information thrown into your mind but I thankfully did not revisit the darkness. -Conjure Bones- T5 (25mp) Conjure enough bones for 200 human skeletons -Sub Skill- The Skeleton King''s boon: Bones/corpses/spirits/undead created by the skeleton king are permanent until destroyed. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I quickened my pace to one of the many buildings inside of the fort. The smithy was old and dusty but it still had a book for swords and armor. looking through the book with exited movements I found a page that had graphs and sketches of the weapons. Finding a simple long sword I imagined it inside of my head, focusing the image to represent the sword, then I had the bone increase in density. It took me an hour to get the image right, casting conjure bones I had a single sword drop infront of me hitting the ground with a load clang. The bone resembled the dragon mace''s bone that I had seen my grandmother with, the Bone sword cost me 500mp, and a single cast to create. I felt the sword in my hands it was heavy and strong. Taking a rusted sword from its perch I held it up and slashed at it with the bone sword. The rusted iron snapped from the strike and flew off into the wall beside me. I checked the bone blades edge and found it was mostly unharmed. I knew I could not have every undead minion equipped with this level of blade. I turned and gave the sword to Varik whom held it with reverence. I then went outside of the hut and produced a lesser version of the blade. I came to the conclusion that the First bone blade was a Rank 4 item, while the lesser were R1-2. R1-3 are normal items while anything above would be considered a masterwork. I had Varik attempt to train with the blade I had given him commanding him to practice certain strikes and forms. I could produce 100 blades each cast, and since each cast of -Conjure bones- is 25mp I could produced enough weapons for all of my undead. I thought about the coming battle and knew Coral expected me to fail. Feeling giddy I created 40 liches maxing out my C.P. limit I started to level each lich to level 5. Before the sun could set I had us march to a point of interest. it was outside of the fort and would take several hours to reach. I had gotten 145 liches to level 5. I also produced more undead to fill our ranks, I felt excited and ready for blood. I shook my head in disgust, "Why do I feel so wrong?" The question was not directed at anyone but I heard a reply "Because Master has not conquered the world." the voice was raspy and filled with strain, I turned to see Varik smiling, I couldn''t smile but nodded my head, I was a Holy knight several days ago and was currently a Skeleton leading an army, this sudden revelation in Liches being able to talk meant nothing to me. With my army of skeletons we marched forward. I attempted to create large Clubs for the Giants and found I could create 25 clubs fit for the giants, while marching forward I would cast my spell and have the giant skeletons pick up their new weapon''s. I thought about the orcs and decided to try and make them a larger version of the swords. I could only create 50 at a time but I quickly had all my skeletons armed and ready for battle, I was thankful for the fact my Liches were clothed with Rank 2 robes and armed with a Rank 2 staffs. The wraiths I conjured moved around or army and scouted the land searching for enemies and insuring we were not ambushed. The sun set as we reached an abandoned Village with a small earth made wall to protect from monsters. Having the vanguard squad move forward I waited for them to scout the village a small pack of wolves had taken over the settlement but quickly scampered away seeing the undead. I entered the Village and walked over to its prime location I had wanted to check, several graveyards filled this village. I wondered why the previous skeleton kings did not conscript these corpses to join their legions? I looked around for some clues as to why they were undisturbed but quickly found the answer. The dead were all children, Hundreds of children berried here. I walked over to a field and plucked several flowers. Returning to the graves I placed the flowers while reading off the names of the children. It was a known fact that children made weak undead and usually fall apart. While I was coming here ready to raise the dead, I felt it was too cruel to destroy the graves of children. My training as a Crusader filled my mind, "To Protect and Serve the innocent..." Standing I placed the last flower and had my undead leave the village, being undead made it easy to travel at night. I could see in the dark slightly and I occasionally saw a purple light ever now and again. Shooting -Bone Spear- at the light I realized the lights were living things. The creature I hit was a wild boar, one spear was imbedded in its neck while the rest were strewn on the ground. The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. Getting close to the boar I realized the bone spear was not dispersing like normal magic! Sam taught me magic was the power of your soul, eventually using this soul you would gain more of it. M.P. also known as Magic points was a way to measure ones soul. The spear was smooth and had three barbed tips, the spear was 6ft long and had a firm handle. Picking up the other four spears I had the Orc skeletons carry them. I pulled the last spear free from the boar and Cast raise dead on it. The boar was soon standing upright. << Zombie Boar >> Level.1 H.P. (45) M.P. (1) Cost (1CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> The boar cost me 1CP without realizing it one of my undead broke free from my control the closest level 50 skeleton started to wonder off with its bone sword. I felt it was not being controlled by me or my Liches but I could control its general direction. having the soul fire from the Human Skeleton imbued into the Boar it fell away leaving behind the bone blade. << Zombie Boar >> LvL.50 H.P. (545) M.P. (51) Cost (1CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Seeing the raise in the boars power I was reminded how week my own creations are I then realized that the previous skeleton kings would create mass amounts of undead minions and use them as actual minions while using their conjured variants to raise their C.P. and M.P. With this knowledge I continued to hunt more animals, sparsly to insure the ecosystem would survive. I ended up with 25 wild boars 8 wolves and 1 bear. << Zombie Wolf >> LvL.1 H.P. (80) M.P. (1) Cost (5CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Zombie Wolf >> LvL.50 H.P. (1,330) M.P. (51) Cost (5CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Zombie Bear >> LvL.1 H.P. (250) M.P. (5) Cost (25CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> << Zombie Bear >> LvL.50 H.P. (4,000) M.P. (255) Cost (25CP) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I now had actual undead and their level ups were insane. If I didn''t have this black book I would be completely lost in terms of knowing what did what. I would have assumed the boars were stronger than human skeletons but weaker than orc skeletons. But this assumption was completely off, just one boar might be able to kill my Gaint Skeletons. What would happen if I had real bones of a Giant? Shaking my head I thought about how terrifying it would be to fight this army. The Order of Light could do it, but the kingdom of Order would be decimated. I would need to increase my max C.P. and M.P. but I would eventually have enough numbers and strength to rival them with equal numbers. Undead that grew stronger... My grandmothers words held true, I was obviously stronger than the past Skeleton Kings. I was shaking the control coral had over me, and I was starting to feel regret that I had blamed the Kingdome of Order, Margent and Roland came from a fallen nation, killing the three leaders of the order of light would be a massive blow to moral. With their soldiers returning and my own soldiers falling in battle they could garner a stronger hold in the capital. My thoughts drifted as we marched through the night. When the sun rose we were climbing a small hill, a normal army would need to rest but the undead had no such complaints. The undead I created seamed content while the undead from actual corpses let out blood lust whenever they saw a living thing. I had to control them to insure they wouldn''t slaughter the animals in the area. When I reached the top of the hill, I was shocked to see a sea of red Roots and Vines. The Seethe tree lay in the distance its blood red leaves dripping with red sap. This was a Class 2 Rage Tree, Seethe Trees are Ranked in Class, Rank 1 are newborn and are quickly taken out by Paladins Crusaders and any other highly skilled personnel. Rank 2 are the ones that have lived for 200-500 years and are starting to gain some kind of animalistic intelligence. Rank 3 are Intelligent and are seen as Global catastrophes. Each Rank has 3 stages. This Class 2 was at the higher stage 3. I quickly ordered my wraiths to scout for the Red Horde that would protect it. They found several goblins and Orc''s several other animals like Bunnies, Foxes, Boars, Wolves, and the occasional Bear. I was about to order my troops to cut the roots and prepare for a fight when one of my wraiths spotted a horde of Ogres lead by a young wyvern. This fight was going to take a lot out of me... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fellmore Here, my updates are going to be sporadic and random, When I have time to wright I will. Quote:Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 1 Chapter 2: Status and Classes Many individuals believe that your class dictates who and what you are. I have come to the conclusion that -Status- is a natural law, so far no intelligent beings have been born without this spell/ability. We are still unsure if -Status- is a spell, as it requires you to manipulate your soul slightly activating it. Normally abilities don''t have to be controlled but this one power is not listed under -Spell- ,-Skill- or even under a sub skill. Some classes you are born with, while others take time to surface or some even remain classless their entire lives. Classes enable us to live in this harsh world that is always filled with danger, be it the three prime evils or some other event that has yet to surface. Taking a look at three Class categories we can determine why -Classes- and -Status- are a prominent factor in viewing ones own self worth. -Magi-, Manipulators of the soul. -Common-, classes that don''t require mana or M.P. mana points as measured by status. Lastly the -Legacy- class archetypes. -Magi- are classes that require constant manipulation of the soul and mind to create spells and uncover truths. It is not that hard to know when one is destined for a -Magi- type class as their INT and or WIS will be higher than any other attribute they hold. Magi are the reason humanity has survived for so long. Mages that continue to practice magic slowly increase their M.P. and life time. -Common- are the back bone of any kingdom. While Magi are rare and few -Common- are at a steady supply, we can rank Common types by the Rank system. Ranks are a loose measurement of power or combat capability. Commons still have an M.P. pool like every other being but are clumsy when manipulating mana. Lastly we reach the -Legacy- classes. We know of 5 Legacy classes and two of them serve under the Order of light. -Dawn Priest- and -Holy Knight-. Paladin''s are Warrior Magi and can learn almost any spell. Few can fight a -Paladin- in single combat. Paladins fallow the Church of Light rather than the Order of Light. -Dawn Priest- are stronger than normal humans imbued with the light at all times. Sunlight heals them and restores their M.P. Most Dawn Priests are pacifists or back line support casters. This however is untrue as many Dawn priests have an absurd amount of H.P. and natural Defense to Magic and Physical attacks. (Refer to Chapter 5: Legacy class subtypes for more information.) Finally we reach the most intriguing Class, the -Holy Knight- Unable to cast spells or even incantations. While this would normally put a class under the -Common- -Warrior- archetype. -Holy Knights- are the best at Soul Manipulation or in layman''s terms controlling their M.P. and they posses one of the largest natural M.P. pools. Paladins strength comes from M.P. without it they would fall in battle as their bodies slowly eat away there M.P. strengthening them. every paladins must meditate for 2-4 hours a day just to survive. Magi and Common types only require five minuets of mediation while -Holy Knight- once again defy this law, Every day the -Holy Knight- will have his M.P. restored when he prays to the goddess of light. While also not losing any of his M.P. over time. Monsters and other races slowly regenerate M.P. while humans must meditate and purify the natural M.P. from the would around them or be given it by Mana stones. We can deduce that -Common- types would be the lower echelon as they are unable to fight back against the stronger -Magi- and -Legacy- classes. The vast majority of the peasantry and serfdom are filled with -Common- types class holders. Crafting skills were once considered a separate archetype but viewing the Status window of Craftsmen we have determined them to be under -Common- subcategories. (Refer to Mal''s Book of Classes: Chapter 2: Subcategory''s and sub classes) All known legacy classes are listed in order of Rarity and power. The newer classes that are discovered are labeled under Unique many new classes are for crafting and or specific situations like Flood Mage, or Storm Mage. -Holy Knight- Stronger than any human physically should and a master at manipulating mana, skilled manipulators can dispel or redirect your magical attacks making magi spells below T1-8 useless on a veteran. -Holy Knight- live longer than most any other class and are so rare that the entirety of them serve under the order of light for every 300-500 -Paladin- there is one -Holy Knight- it is a known fact that -Holy Knights- have a passive aura that disturbs hostile Soul energies. Making them the perfect counter to any -Paladin- -Paladin- Rare but not as abysmal as the -Holy Knight- or -Dawn Priest- Paladins have three subclasses and each of them is a devastating reminder that a single -Paladin- can turn the tide of any battle or conflict. All light spells are a -Free Spell- to Paladins making them the strongest spell casters of the light affinity. Paladins are almost as strong as a -Holy knight- with their Auras and passive -Skill-. Paladins serve three branches of the Church of light. Warriors, Healers, and the Judicators. -Dawn Priest- Only one thousand dawn priests are active at any one time, they all serve the church of light and have the largest amount of subclasses. -Bastion Priest- -Soul Priest- -Malgi Priest- -Divination Priest- and -Cleanser Priest- to name a few. Dawn priests are the only class to have their M.P. shorten their life time. Having the Forth largest M.P. pool their lives are short in comparison to any other class. usually a -Dawn Priest- live for 10-40 years. -Magi- Not to be confused with -Mage- or the subclasses of mage. Magi have the third largest M.P. pool and live almost as long as any -Sage- Magi have been around for many centuries. The oldest of Magi serve as a Kingdoms Guardian or a living status symbol. The Oldest five Magi are known throught the land and many fear their power. From oldest to young, Sam of Order, Yuger of Order, Gera of Order, Jain of Exile, and Rune of Exile. Sam and Yuger are brothers, each capable of casting T10 spells and together they can cast devastating magic that was thought impossible. -Sage- Sages are not combat oriented and have no combat spells, however -Sage- can imbue others with greater power. Sages live longer than any other class. Every point of M.P. can let a sage live 50 years. Sages have the fifth largest M.P. pool, every sage passively gains experience but they can never pass LvL.1. every year a sage can increase anyone''s level by 50. The oldest sage gave the -Hero- Sivo a massive level boost raising him to level 500 and giving him the class of -Crusader- This class has been placed in the unique category until further evaluation. -Sages- are even rarer than -Holy Knight- only 5-9 sages currently are known, before the great unification war were 500 sages that lived on the mountain of assentation were executed by The King of Karnac for refusing to increase his warriors levels.
I scratched my helmeted skull thinking about how to fight a Wyvern and a horde of Ogres. I reviewed my options, Conjure bones, I could make a spiked wall, but then the Wyvern would burn that down, Some orcs and ogres could cast magic. I was not spotted by the Horde yet, but the tree knew I was here. Thinking about it some more I decided to do what my wise teacher always told me, "Magic solves everything." Brining my hand up I imagined the types of siege engines the order of light used. Then my mind slipped back to the books in the fort. I smiled at the thought and began to summon bones for several weapon''s of war. It took me 10 casts of Conjure Bones and the diligent work of the Giant skeletons to create my siege weapons. 4 Catapults designed to launch undead, 6 ballista''s made from flexible bones and to my joy sinew. I then had an epiphany. Soul fires were the representation of mana used to conjure the bones. I conjured 10 human skeleton with one cast of the Conjured bones. << Human Skeleton >> LvL.50 H.P. (110) M.P. (265) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I did not take control of them like I usually do and decided to manipulate their focus. I found that I could have them more or less under my control for this fight. I then fell back and created a mass wave of undead and some rouge liches. Their forces comprised of 15,000 human skeletons, 1,000 orc skeletons, 200 giant skeletons, and 15 liches I then created weapon''s for each undead the sun was now rising and I felt ready. ordering the horde of somewhat controlled undead to attack in the direction of the seethe tree, I was happy to see their soulfires were controllable. My siege weapons lined up, I produced several long bone spikes that resembled tree trunks. Giant skeletons moved to load the ballista''s I then created several giants in the catapults. << Giant Skeleton >> LvL.50 H.P. (5,250) M.P. (5) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Stronger than my Zombie bear I was pleased with this revelation It cost me 25times the cost of conjure bones to create this giant skeleton at level 50 but 500 mana was miniscule in comparison to my massive M.P. pool and M.P. Furnace. I created one loaded it in the catapult and launched it at the seethe tree. The catapult was more effective than I could of Imagined. The Gaint skeleton landed in the middle of a goblin horde and had taken no damage from the fall. It tore through several confused and enraged goblins. I ignored the small skirmish and returned my attention to the battle in front of me. My undead army just reached the thicket of red roots that created a makeshift forest. They chopped at the roots and killed the occasional animal that saw them and charged. I had just loaded each catapult and launched them at the roots of the tree. Each giant overshot its intended target and landed inside of the forest. I felt the Red Horde stir and begin to charge at my army, a sea of red skinned goblins and orcs pored from the red roots and clashed with a sea of bones. The horde was not organized and seamed to have no cohesion. The mismatched fighting broke out and the battlefield was now a disheveled mess. The wyvern and its ogre''s were now heading my way, it would take them five minuets to reach the battle. I had my wraiths attack from above and my liches attack with long ranged fireballs. Burning the roots and causing smoke to poor out on the ground. The red roots burned easily but a toxin that infects living beings pored out, thankfully I am undead. My ballista''s fired off in rapid succession long bone bolts that pierced the roots and bodies of goblins and orcs, the occasional undead was also hit but they were replaceable. I hadn''t been idle I created waves of 1,000 human skeletons and sent them forward I had made 8,000 armed skeletons by the time the Ogre and wyvern entered the battle. The wyvern was a normal Brown not a variant, the weight on my bony shoulders lifted somewhat. I created another wave of Giant skeletons and a batch of bone bolts. I had them all aimed at the wyvern. The forces I sent forth had almost been destroyed to my surprise only one lich was killed. I had my vanguard charge forth fallowed by a volley of bolts and Giant skeletons. The previous five giant skeletons had been destroyed by mass numbers and did help to thin the horde for a time. This story has been unlawfully obtained without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. I continued to have my liches assault the red roots and ignore the horde. It would take a few days to clear out the roots, and I didn''t want to stick around for long. Seethe trees were usually made by Vampires or Demons. The Giants landed onto of the Wyvern, these giants I made with spiked bones and sharp hands. The modifications allowed them to dig into the wyverns scales and bleed the beast. The Giants were quickly destroyed by the wyverns thrashing but I could tell it was limping. I watched as my vanguard met the battle lines, my vanguard tore into the horde but quickly reseeded into a stand still. one bolt hit the wyvern while the rest missed hitting the ground. The bolt hit its chest and dug into the wyvern. Bringing its jaws down on the bolt it breathed fire to cauterize the wound and soften the bone. It then pulled the bone out and chucked it at a clump of undead that were destroyed from the impact. The Ogres were making short work of my undead but then all my wraiths shot down a wave of magic bolts and other magical attacks, several Ogres could cast magic and did so, seeing the magic I felt a trickle of information flow into my head. -Arcane Bolt- and -Stone Spear- I also noticed a flow of information when my liches and Wraiths cast their magic, -Fireball-, -Lightning-, -Death Bolt-, and surprisingly -Invisibility-. << Nagol >> - Skeleton King - <-Affinity-> -Darkness- -Death--Light- -Life- LvL.1 H.P. I was not abandoned, I was not betrayed. My gaze returned to the battle, My undead were being killed off just as quickly as my enemy. The wyvern was still alive and kicking, I quickly located the magic casters among my enemy. 15 orcs and 3 ogres that could use magic. First rule of combat, take out the magic users. I was thankful that Coral used -Blink- in front of me and also gave me a powerful -skill- I was now a magic users worst nightmare. I felt magic flow around me and I was now above the wyvern as it tore into a Giant skeleton I lashed out with my sword and flet it collide with the monster. I then blinked away towards a ogre magic caster, I thrust my sword into his neck killing him. Sam would always use blink to punish me, grabbing my hand and blinking allover the place until I vomited or passed out. The hardest spell to master and cast was blink, Blink has two requirements Having mana cover your body and being physically able to survive the inertia of moving so quick. I was now a Skeleton moving at abrupt speeds didn''t cause my gut to churn or my head to spin. I was literally held together with Mana. I also took classes on how to deal with the dreaded Blink Mage, Those classes also taught us how to think like a blink mage. I blinked all over the battlefield thrusting my sword before blinking than repositioning myself to correct my attacks. I was taller than I had been before, my swordsmen ship would require time to improve. Feeling like a god I laughed to myself and blinked into the air I then cast my attack spells at the red horde under me. they died in droves. I then blinked under the wyvern and cast bone spears at its unprotected underbelly blinking away before it could react. I was close to emptying my M.P. furnace and decided to just blink and strike with my sword instead of attacking with magic. I was now regenerating 250mp a minuet and felt empowered by the affinities. I then felt fear a deep dark sickening fear, was I going to have to fight the other prime evils? In my moment of mind numbing fear I was struck by an ogres mace and sent flying. my hp dropped and I quickly blinked away to the back lines and started to syphon H.P. from the undead bear. I lost 68hp in one hit, My armor did not dent but I was sent flying with an ogres strength normally a man would have died to a strike like that. Deciding it was a good time as any I sent the undead animals I had to join the battle away from the wyvern. Its body was shaking and it was now impaled with several Bone bolts from the ballista. Smiling I determined the wyvern was 300-400 ft away and would make great target practice. I cast a -Death bolt- aiming for the body of the wyvern. The smoke and ringing of battle hid the black bolt as it sailed through the air hitting the wyvern. It shuddered and wailed in pain breathing fire at everything around it. I felt it was close to death, I also noticed the dying on the ground and each had an aura. The wyvern soon had a similar aura, the auras were like the soul fires but it covered their entire body instead of being in their core. Raising my hand I knew having a wyvern as a undead minion would be beneficial. The -Death Spear- sailed through the air impaling the wyvern. The wyvern stopped moving and fell over its fall was thunderous and powerful. even for such a young wyvern he was larger than most, I was distracted by the wyvern and failed to notice the movement from within the forest until I heard the roars. 4 wyverns flew out form the thicket at were descending on the battlefield. I felt the control over the Wyvern and began to syphon M.P. to heal it. soon its wings were fixed and it was fully healed I also felt my M.P. drop down I currently have 20mp in my m.p. furnace. Ordering the wyvern to take flight and attack I took the soul fires from the wraiths as they collected them and fed it into the wyvern. It glowed a sickly dark purple and grew larger. My liches all raised the dead and began to cast magic at the four wyverns, three brown and one red. The fight on the ground was easing up as the new undead joined the fray. I also discovered that more goblins and orcs were coming, a larger number than before... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Alright guys, sorry for not updating yesterday. I was taking a test and working on some projects I have neglected recently. Thanks again to the guys in the comments helping me with my spelling and grammar. Also thanks to (Insert Name Here) for giving me an Idea, I was originally only going to have the catapults but after reading your comment I decided to have Conjure bone take on another path, making sinew. Again I do read the comments almost daily, (Except on weekends when I''m studying.) Please leave a comment, suggestion, or an Idea. 07 Friends on the other side
Quote:Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 10 Chapter 455: Way gates and portals History has not been kind to the study of Way Gates, associating way gates with portals is a mistake many lower tier mages have made. Way gates can only be operated by six races; Humans, Wood Elves, Dark Elves, High Elves, Elvenian''s and Carnax. Humans as we all know are the most predominant race and control most of our known territory. Elves are split off into 4 subtype races. Wood elves can communicate with nature and usually are shy of strangers. Dark elves warship the Dark gods and their herald the third prime evil, (refer to Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 8 Chapter 16: The Third Prime Evil and Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 8 Chapter 20: Prime evil servants ) High affinity with darkness and death they are mostly necrotic casters and usually at the end of their life seal themselves off and raise themselves as liches waiting for the day they might serve their masters in unlife. High elves are the most sociable of the elven races and will on occasion trade or speak with humans, but see us as more of a nuisance than ally. Living in their sanctuaries and Fortress city Kana Hold, a floating city that moves between the Floating Islands and our continent. The Carnax were actually the original creators of the Waystones, when their nation was prosperous and leading in Magical research and application they would lay down waystones so they could more easily move mages and materials to research sights. It also allowed them to connect villages and towns allowing their cities and forts to make walls that were completely sealed off without gates. Waystones create a byproduct known as "Mana Worm" a magical being that can reproduce and live for indefinite amounts of time, Most mana worms are docile and are great pets for mages sapping them of mana slowly allowing the mage to keep his M.P. pool filled. The carnax developed a way to control these Mana worms and used them as pets and guardians. The older mana worms can reach sizes of around half a mile, The largest recorded mana worm is 15 miles long and is currently acting as guardian to a old abandoned Carnax research facility. Portals shortly arrived after allowing hellspawn and Demons to enter our world. Waygates were reengineered by a Human sage to allow humans to create more waygates, The Carnax swiftly reacted and attempted to stop the sage but were to late, the portals were created and demons invaded the continent. The Carnax civilization quickly mobilized its entire populace to fight the demons, They knew the danger better than anyone. The fight was long and hard but soon every portal was closed, Sending in a legion of soldiers into the portal so that two mages could close the portal, unfortunately the legion that entered the portal would be trapped with no way home. This continued until the Carnax population dwindled to an abysmal number, knowing that humans would try and take their inventions again the remaining Carnax destroyed their Villages, Towns and cities with Mana Bombs and fled, becoming nomads and secluded even from themselves. Not all Carnax settlements were destroyed, the waystones survived and some of the facilities to prevent humans and other races from using the waystones to steal what remained of their people. the Carnax modified the waystones. only by touching two stones would you be allowed to travel between them. It is unknown why These races can use the waystones. Knowing that the Demon Lord and other demons survived the war with the Carnax has seeded a deep fear in most. Portals may have the same mana signature as a Waystone but do not have a Locking point or Anchor. Demons have adapted to use a more free and open system, Portals. Without any anchors or true destination portals could be connected almost at random. It is known that demons require a "Demon Lord" to survive. When no demon lord is present demons become fractured and feral. Portals have allowed their race to expand and become a powerhouse today. Whenever the demon lord returns he opens a portal to his home and brings forth more and more demons, until he starts a war with humanity. Our Port cities are strong and built to stem the tide of invasions but every time the demons return they are stronger than before. Portals by themselves are not dangerous the spell -Portal- is different from natural portals made from actual materials. -Portal- allows the caster to set down a portal and connect it with a pervious portal, -Greater Portal- allows the mage to open a portal to a destination of his choosing. While these portals are not permanent they can be intercepted by the demons portal magic. -Portal- based spells have thusly been banned to insure no demons reinvade our cities.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ The glowing wyvern grew several feet and three horns sprouted from its head, dark magic filled its body and it felt every death empowering it. Clashing into a brown wyvern its horns gauged the wyverns neck and it fell to the earth twitching as it began to die. Whipping its now spiked tail at the red wyvern. dipping under his tail the red wyvern tucked its wings in and spun. Its tail had one spike on it more like a spear head it gouged the wyverns side. Feeling nothing its maw opened and a dark purple flame spout out clinging to the red wyvern it cried out in agony. The purple glowing wyvern roared triumphantly as it continued to lash out at the wary wyverns. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ I ducked under a mace and blinked above its wielders head kicking him sternly, then I blinked below him and thrust my sword into his gullet. I blinked again dodging a savage looking axe as it pierced into the ogre. I reappeared behind the orc and sliced at its neck while mid air then blinking again I was over the battle field several hundred feet above. The Red Horde was now descending on this location, while we had a near infinite reserve of soldiers so to did the Seethe tree. Its roots slowly started to move shaking off the stiffness of absorbing the lands energy. It would take two or three days before it would be ready to attack with its large branches. My wyvern was now taking on its counterparts, it killed one of the brown wyverns with a lucky blow an even wounded the red variant type. The Arial battle had receded into a standstill. I raised the other wyvern with a death bolt spear did not give it the soul fires this time. It was currently behind my forces slowly recovering with my reverse Syphon. My wraiths took heavy losses when several magic casters started to attack them but I quickly replaced them soon I would need to stay on the ground and just create troops, until such a time I will enjoy the fight. I quickly overcame my fear and decided to utilize the low cost of blink. I was confident in my skills even if I still needed practice. My liches currently are supporting their undead hordes by raising more and casting magics on the horde, I was slowly feeding them soul fires but kept most of them for myself. It had been several hours into the fight and I repeated the same process over and over, Blink and fight among the enraged horde then retreat and raise undead and heal the wyvern and other undead. Varik seamed to become more powerful, he started to cast -Death bolt- just like me. I noticed several of his undead changing slightly as they killed. His forces seamed to be the most coordinated but I did notice 4 other liches that showed promise. The siege weapons continued to fire at the horde killing massive waves of the red skinned horde. The wyverns eyes were blood red but other than that they retained their same appearance. I once saw a few elves and other races mixed among the horde but quickly detained them. I now that is possible to cure the seethe trees madness, but only elves and vampires knew how. I currently had 28 female elves among my captives. Its not that I didn''t take any male elves its just that no male elves existed. I had heard stories about how elf men are taken to a sacred grove and that they sleep for a long time. This was just a rumors from my childhood. I knocked out every elf and had them bound to a Bone cage. Its outer shell looked like a cage but inside skeleton hands gripped their arms and legs I had a set of skeleton hands also hold their mouths closed, I didn''t need to speak to cast spells but most spell casters do. Mana manipulation takes years of practice and even if you do practice it would be difficult even attempt without natural talent. Gazing back to the fight I stood beside the brown wyvern healing it. I could feel the roots watching me, evaluating me. I even noticed some of the horde shift when I enter the fray. They knew I was dangerous and probably the leader. Absorbing Soul fires again and again I had gained even more C.P. allowing me to have a few more liches under my command. I even started to produce more level 50 giant skeleton and kept them in reserve. I had produced 400 bone spikes for the ballista''s to use and the undead worked tirelessly. I cast -Bone Spear- with 5 spears at a time but when my M.P. furnace was starting to reach the half way point I decided to cast it with (2,000mp) 500 spears of bone launched out and impaled a wave of goblins and orcs leaving a large area with corpses, I then raised them and returned to my task of healing the wyvern. My armor was surprisingly sturdy, Its helmet was a normal full plate helm with runes across its surface and looked to be a relic from the rune wars. The gauntlets were spiked at the fingertips and were multilayered allowing for free motion, it also had runic carvings. The entire set was covered in runes, the boots and greaves fallowed the same style with smooth layered plates with sharp edges and points. My boots went up to just below my knee''s and had a metal spike. My elbows also had metal spikes attached to them. while my chest plate was smooth it also was thick and heavy, If I had to estimate the armor was just as heavy as a grown man wearing armor. On my shoulders two heavy shoulder pads that interlink sat, If I wanted to take it off I would need to remove my helmet then unstrap it from my chest plate and lift it over my head. I also had a black cape with a underside of red. The end of its length lay several blades sticking out if its ends, with practice and precision I could use it as a weapon. It bellowed back and forth to avoid hindering me, almost like it was alive. My spiked gauntlets glowed a blue light as I used siphon. This interested me, my armor had runes of Ancient decent. I took of my helmet and checked inside, Inside of it was also a set of runes of angelic decent.I caught a glimpse of my visage from the helmet. On my shoulders sat a skull, its jawline rough and jagged, like a dragons jaw, I had teeth that were unusually jagged, but still resembled human teeth. My eye sockets were slanted and furrowed much like a dark elf, my eyes were two floating balls of green fire. I also had long white hair that sprouted from my skull clinging to its top. On closer inspection my armor was not a deep black but a dark gray. I donned my helmet once more, strapping it down with my shoulder pads. This body is not mine, my soul and mind have been changed slightly. The roar of battle returned to me and I instinctively reached for the locket I religiously held close to myself. In its place I found a chained necklace with a rusted locket. Gingerly I retrieved it and opened it carefully. Inside a picture of a young princess she was Tania, I also noticed the Dragon Diamond ring was still there. Confused I assumed that no time had passed but this locket was almost 10-20 years old, the chain was older still and had the cross of light, a Sword with wings and an angel resting its hands on its pommel. I returned the necklace to my armore and looked forward, my forces had made some headway but the next wave of the red horde was fast approaching, taking a look at my wraiths they had collected enough Soul Fires to advance me forward several times over. Pulling the fires towards myself I realized something, Whenever I increased in power my Mana pool would fill up. Taking this information I would unleash all of my M.P. in my furnace and then "refuel" Another thing I learned taking the soul fire would render the body useless. A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. I produced more undead to use as for this refuel. I needed to create more liches so this process did take time but not unbearably so. I eventually took a look at my status to check my progress, I had taken a mental note that I had consumed 150 worth of soul fire''s to increase my C.P. and M.P. << Nagol >> - Skeleton King - < -Affinity-> -Darkness- -Death--Light- -Life- LvL.1 (Soul LvL.150) H.P. Turning to a pile of corpses that had been recently made I cast abomination on it. The bodies bubbled and twitched until they all started to form together. The monster had 4 arms and a large maw its two legs were bulky but not lopsided like its arms. Its face?, was a giant hole with sharp teeth. I opened my black book and scrapped some of its flesh off, its status was revealed. -Abomination Brute- LvL.1 H.P. (10,000) M.P. I quickly had them charge forward to advance through the forest of roots. I then created 500 orc skeletons and had them armed with bone spears and charged behind the human skeletons. This abomination would be a nice addition to my army. With a vanguard already dashing through the forest I added up the amount of liches I could control, 506. I currently had 354, I summoned wraiths and human skeletons and quickly crafted the liches. I then had them take control of the undead I had lost in the process. Seven wraiths were fallowing the vanguard collecting their soul fires. Many of my new liches started to raise the undead and have them join our ranks, we had just cleared out the first wave and soon the secant would get here. I thought back to the ballista and siege wepons, it would be a waste to abandon them. I ordered my liches to get into 7 groups. The vanguard would consist of Varik, and 99 other Liches. Our left and right flanks would have 30 liches each. While the main body of the army would have 250 liches. I would leave the captives and siege weapons to a group of 60 liches as they cleared through the roots with magic and fire, I crafted 10,000 bolts and enough Level 50 gaints to protect this group. I had 30 act as advanced scouts acting in groups of two. I had the remaining six stick with the vanguard, If I acquired anymore captives I would need them taken to safety. We marched through the roots and occasionally ran into a pack of monsters before we would continue. My wraiths returned with the souls fires from the advanced squad. I decided human skeletons would just get in the way, but they did have one use. I quickly had a bone shaped like a bow with a sinewy bow string. I had crafted this with one cast then another to make a quiver then another to make 250 arrows. These were all rank 4 items and I quickly strapped the quiver to my side and the claymore on my back. I then crafted lesser version of the bow and arrows distributing it to a good number of the human skeletons. With the guidance of the liches they quickly shot a volley out at a large pack of goblins many fell to the arrows, I joined the attack letting lose several arrows. Without magic I had learned to hunt with a bow, I was thankful that my father taught me how to use the bow at a young age. The horde did not reach us and fell to our attack. I was satisfied with the effectiveness of the human skeletons. Orc skeletons took up a lot of C.P. in comparison but lasted a bit longer. I did not arm all of the human skeletons with bows, leaving few melee combatants would be detrimental, replacing the bones swords with the bone spears would allow the skeletons to be more effective than fodder. The vanguard moved out and I continued to move forward with them, "Varik, have our liches use fireball on the roots whenever their M.P. is full." He stiffened and bowed "Yes my lord!" Our liches let out a volley on the trees around us. it would take hours for them to burn and I was starting to see them move more than before. We encountered more resistance they climbed the roots and jumped down on us from above, after a chaotic melee I had varik send some of our wraiths to scout above the roots. Varik had our group stop and I felt his mind contact me. "Ogre settlement ahead, 800-900 along with a force of orcs and goblins 2,000-2,500." Varik had used the bone blade I gave him and found it difficult to fight Ogres in melee. I turned to my abomination and had a brilliant idea. Taking several corpses from the last fight I crafted 3 more abominations and had them circle around I kept the other undead I lost from their insane cost stand still, It was difficult to hold them still but eventually we had the 3 abominations in place my first abomination climbed the roots and readied to drop on top of the rage filled monsters. They were currently having a fight between three ogres for dominance, several orcs tried to join in but were quickly knocked down. I ordered the 3 abominations to attack from the back along with the Arial drop. the three charged out and killed a few dozen orcs and goblins in five secants, their four arms were waving around clawing at everything. Acid rained down on the horde and the abomination dropped on the three ogres killing two quickly while the third rolled away. I then released the three thousand undead and they charged. I allowed the liches to attack with magic but did not have the skeleton archers attack I wanted to see how strong the abominations were. one abomination lost its arm but it picked up a goblin and threw it into its mouth its arm started to grow back, I also noticed that abominations did not regenerate mana. The fight was almost over when one of the abominations ran out of mana and exploded throwing a dark purple blood out killing anything that touched it. I watched in aww as the dead were risen by the purple liquid. Abominations that ran out of M.P. explode, their health is what caught my interest, but exploding was something I did not expect. The fight escalated into a standstill the goblins and orcs continued to be slaughtered while the ogres quickly started killing my undead. I had the other 3 abominations focus on fighting the ogres. The other undead had around 600-800 left from their original 3,000. I stepped forward giving varik a hand sign to stay. The abominations one by one exploded in a wave of dark purple liquid that raised the dead. I waited until there were only 5 ogres alive and had my undead fall back. The ogres immediately started to charge me. My bow twanged six times and five bodies hit the ground. I was known as a master of arms but preferred long swords and claymores. One ogre brought its hand up and stopped my arrow, I then released another arrow at his knee, falling into a puddle of purple blood killing him. I felt something from one of the huts. Mana pulsed from the small hut, raising my bow and mentally preparing for an attack I crept forward. I ordered my undead to hide and leave the clearing. The huts entrance was covered with a brown leather tarp. I swatted away the tarp quickly and saw a barrier with two people inside... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fellmore here, sorry about the lack of updates, 4th of July was a hectic time, family visiting, movies, unforeseen miscommunication and the eventual fallout that required my full attention. Quote:Mal''s Book of Revelations VOL 8 Chapter 20: Prime evil servants The Three Prime evils are powerful and in their own way monsters without equal. The prime evils each came at a different time and are usually considered servant''s of the Dark Gods. This statement is untrue, Only the Skeleton King and his followers serve the dark gods. The Demon Lord came or was discovered first, The Carnax portal incident to this day has scarred our world with this taint. The Demon Lord was a young king of the nation "Cardinals" Home of the paladins and their undead hunter counter parts. He offered the dying demon lord his soul and body to destroy the undead and save his people. He was mutilated into the undying demon lord we know today filled with hate pain and resentments. He might use Dark magic but his spells are filled with the chaotic energy from the Demons allowing him to cast dark and demon spells. The demons rallied to their new master and slew the undead hordes that threatened the land while also fighting the Carnax, who at the time were seen as monsters supporting the undead. After the undead were mostly taken care of and the Carnax had closed their portals, they turned their sights to the weakened humans. This is where the Demon Lord forced and threatened other races to join him or parish. The wars continued for a time until the demon lord was cast out by the first -Hero- sending him to the Shadow lands. His minions consist of Demonologists outcasts and bestial races mostly; Goblins, Orcs, Harpies, Trolls, Ogres, Giants, Minotaur''s, and obviously Demons. The second prime evil to this day is still a mystery, Only its name, Race, and Motive are known other than that we can assume the entire race fallow "it" ByValVin a Changeling that manipulated civilized races to war amongst themselves and destroy everything with spite. Unlike the Demon lord that wants to see every one suffer, ByValVin wishes to see everything destroyed. The Third and arguably the strongest prime evil, The Skeleton king. The skeleton king is a -Hero- twisted to become the jailor of the undead and Bain of all living things. He aspires to destroy all life and is a common enemy to all things. Dark god worshipers embrace the Skeleton king most notably Dark Elves and greater races. Dark elves or "Dark Aker" as their Elven counter parts say. Dark Elves are natural Necromancer and dark mages, raising undead intentional or not. Most Aker at the end of their life conduct a ritual to become a one of the many soldiers for the Skeleton King, We have seen; Liches, Death Knights, Revenants, Spirits, Abominations, Defilers, Corrupters, and the rare, Dead Marrow. Dark Aker have many strange practices that have just recently been discovered The -Hero- Gaston learned that Dark elves have no males and unlike other elves do not have a life span, The leader of a Dark Aker tribe will decide if a elf is to end their life in service of the dark god, every ten years a large group of dark aker go out and find mates, then return and give birth to a child, conducting their ritual to give the child experience and abilities from the previous generation then killing themselves and being raised as the undead. Normally children are not given experience but slowly acquire it like everyone else, Dark elves have been notorious for whisking men away at night only to have them return or be found as an undead. Vampires and Shadows are the only undead that seam to not rally behind the Skeleton King. Shadows are a numerous undead that many can find but cannot attack, Shadows are the hate and violent nature of a soul that is shed when we are taken by fare to NelfHI. Vampires hide away from all living things, worshiping the Dark God "Cain" Vampires are the only dark god worshipers that openly attack all the prime evils with a almost fanatic obsession.
The barriers mana signatures flared and strained to maintain a protective dome around its occupants. Two elves, one a little girl and the other a older mature looking elf. The older elf wore a Magi robe, holding a staff and mana stone. Her eyes widened as she looked at me, but the reflection in the barrier was different from what I actually looked like. My dark gray armor was now silver and did not have sigils or spikes, almost like a plain Plate mail set. My black claymore was silver and its black mana stone appeared blue. The younger elf wore a elegant gown and was asleep. I approached the barrier and used the elven sign language /Friend/Safe/Protect/ I felt a searing pain of anger seeing the elves alive and well. Her eyes widened in surprise and she had a single tear run down her face, Hope, joy. I felt like crushing that hope and destroying her piece by piece. I suppressed that emotion with disgust. I turned my focus to closely study the barrier. I felt the now soothing feeling of information flow into my soul. -Barrier- T4 (40mp+10mp/s) Create a barrier to protect from magical attacks Aliments and physical attacks. Attacks will cost 80% of the attackers spell or (50+mp) for physical attacks Casting -Barrier- around them, the current barrier glowed a darker blue and I felt my mana drain to rejuvenate her mana. Barrier spells and group spells allow for everyone to share the cost of the spell and equalize mana among them selves. My soul Furnace is not considered my M.P. pool and thus I was at 100% M.P. and was continually feeding the other caster mana. My best guess would be her M.P. pool was around 23% and stable, The barrier was obviously up for a long time, the elf was showing signs of mana burn, blue glowing veins pulsing around her. I did not know a heal spell but knew how to treat mana burns, Taking some of my mana I had it flow into her mana veins and freeze. The cold mana eased her suffering allowing her pained expression to soften. I manipulated the barriers mana and it lifted off the ground. I noticed the clothing these elves had, High Elves. Magic wielders who were naturally arrogant casting T3 spells at a young age, most of their warriors cast T5-T6 spells. Her mana equalized and she noticeably relaxed allowing me to control the barrier. I gave Varik full command and ordered him to continue the assault. My undead quickly moved far enough away that I could take the elves out of the hut without them seeing my undead horde. I ordered 4 wraiths to fallow me from a distance. Leaving behind the ogre settlement, the older elf hugged the small child beside her crying. I could feel the childs soul fire, close to death but still she had time. Signaling the elf I gave a hand sign /Home/Direction/Help/Medicine/ the elf pointed to the south east /Half/Day/Walk/ seeing this I started to jog through the red vines and roots, we encountered several goblins but I quickly mowed them down with my sword. I could not cast dark magic or "Forbidden" spells in front of this elf. Barriers were sound proof and since High Elves excelled at Barrier type spells this caused elves to create a silent language for communication. We neared the edge of the forest when a Ogre and two orcs burst through charging at me, I positioned the barrier higher off the ground. Raising my hand I cast -Arcane bolt- 20 times, each hitting the orcs and ogre slowing them down. One of the arcane bolts slammed into one of the orcs necks killing him. The magical bolts would explode with mana dealing arcane damage. The ogre reached me first and swung its hammer at my side, I attempted to parry it, but my new body was not as strong as I had hoped, I was sent crashing into a root my hp dropped but I did not falter. Blinking behind the last orc I cast arcane bolt at the back of its head, then blinked away. The bolt slammed into the orcs skull and exploded his brain splattered around me. The effects of Arcane Bolt allowed it to pierce objects at long range while exploding. The longer the bolt is flying the more it will pierce but its destructive power will lessen, however casting the spell in melee was akin to using a dwarves boom stick on a goblin. The orcs headless body dropped as I blinked back fifteen feet. I pulled out my bow and let lose 2 arrows, the ogre blocked one with his hammer but the last arrow stayed true piercing his eye and sending him to the ground. The Ogre roared as he thrashed about causing more noise than I had expected. I walked past the wounded monster and used arcane bolt directly at his head. I returned to sprinting while keeping my bow out, Blinking requires undivided attention, the further out I got the harder it was to control or observe varik, soon I would have to just trust him to stay "alive". I felt several goblins approaching from my left and ordered my wraiths to deal with them. Mana signatures were unique based on individuals but always fallowed the same "feeling" or mana signature for a specific race, goblins mana is weak and chaotic. The small green children like creatures were a Inept species unable to use mana. Defenseless to my wraiths they fell quickly. we reached the edge of the red rooted forest and my control over varik lessened. We passed by the red roots and found ourselves at the entrance of a valley. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon. The cobble stone road was hidden inside the red forest but out here the road was just over run with weeds and plants. Red vines snaked their way into the ground and absorbed earthly mana, raising my hand I cast several fireballs at the red vines, causing them to burn and smoke. I had the barrier move ahead of me away from the red roots as I continued to bombard it with fire. Turning away from the seethe trees roots I jogged along the road but kept an arrow on my bow sting at all times. the valleys walls passed as I moved swiftly, normally elves have low Strength and high stamina. Not dying to that ogres hammer had surprised the elf but also finding a friend in that hellish place was a god send. I knew from talking to myself and varik at dragons maw, my voice was more of a wisp or rasp, like a ghost. The sound of my human voice mixed and mutilated by the ether. While we traveled I ordered my wraiths to find some fruit and edible plants. I then blinked to the food and placed it inside of my quiver. Several hours passed until we exited the valley. The road split off into two while a hill sat in the middle leading up to a old white tree. I slowed my jog and hiked up the hill. The sun was blocked out by the smoke rising from the burning seethe tree. I determined that the distance was sufficient a mile back the smoke started to sparkle with red mana. The toxin was carried by mana inside the roots and thankfully most of the mana was being used to rank up the seethe tree. We were safe from the rage tree, I unclipped my cape and set it down on the ground then placed the barrier on top of it, Elven customs required that the one who saves the lives of another must take care of their charges until they are home. If the elf was correct than we would reach an elven enclave just down the hill five to six miles out. I released the barrier and pulled out a giant leaf that I had collected, placing several fruits and edible plants on it and handing it to the older elf who was still holding the small child. Children among elves were considered sacred and just the fact that this child was not dead or infected was a miracle, the mage beside me was obviously a powerful caster, her barrier spell was weaker than I had initially thought but then thought about why she used a -Barrier- spell and not a -Greater Barrier- They had been in that forest for days if not weeks, keeping a strong barrier up would of left her with no mana. Bowing her head and accepting the "plate" of food. She split open a water vine and fed the still sleeping child. The childs soul fire faded back into her body, starvation and dehydration had made her close to death. Seeing her revitalized I felt Wrong? My mind hurt as I watched the two, living. I turned and approached the white tree its size was large and imposing, a light mana tree than had lived for several decades. Its leafs shined a pale white while tis bark glowed like the moon. A small pool of light mana covered its base. The light raw mana reflected my illusionary appearance but I instantly knew that even if my image was different I could not fool them if they touched my armor. I sat in front of the mana pool and meditated like I would with sam... The world was filled with a white light, I was sitting in a white chair in front of me sat the Phantom. She was reading a book but slowly closed it and looked up at me, her purple eyes shined a unhealthy light into the stark white room. "Even''ata Marvuk Sevan''tarul?" I opened my mouth to speak but found that I was unable. She smiled and placed the book down on her chairs armrest, then stood. "Mana fallows a set rule but each element has a hidden property, Light, Heals and aluminates but is also an Illusion." she walked counter clockwise around me as she spoke. "Earth is strong and powerful but also rejuvenates the body." She stroked my head and I noticed I was once again in my human body. she continued to strut around the white room, "Every element has a equal and negative, Lights equal is Holy, and its negative is Dark. Dark is equal to unholy and negative to light." she brought her hand out and dark mana formed making a box. "Dark, destroys and Hides, but is also real." She released the black box from her manas grasp and it fell to the floor and shattered into dark fragments that evaporated. "Darkness is not a color or shade but a representation of its physical counter part, everything has darkness and anything can become darkness", She then formed a purple triangle, and it too fell to the floor, Shattering. then a blue circle and a orange rectangle. "With proper mana manipulation you can create anything, and reinforce it with mana." She was now behind her seat and waved her mana around making a skeleton with armor that resembled my skeleton body. "The Dark is real while the light is fake." She then waved her hand and a scythe appeared in her hand, she decapitated the skeleton imitation and its head rolled onto the floor while its body fell forward destroying a white wood table between our chairs. "The dark can even make sound." The skeletons body evaporated and reformed sitting on the chair its skull moved and a voice of a young girl came out of the skeleton. "Light is so fragile and is only an optic allusion." The elf weaved her mana again and two small children formed just a few feat away from me. The skeleton raised its hand and a dark bolt slammed into one of the children. He hunched over in pain and cried out with suffering and pain. The little girl beside him held onto him and whimpered "Brother!" the boy slowly went limp then he snapped up and grasped the little girls throat. Bursting out of my chair I tried to blink to the two but I was quickly chained down with black chains. The skeleton turned towards me and spoke with sam''s voice. "Being a fool will only get you killed." he then raised his hand and the chains tightened until I could not move. The dark elf strut over to me in her purple armored robes, she straddled me and stroked my face with a indecent look on her face, her breath was haggard and she was obviously not in the right mind. "Hearing them struggle reminds me of when I was just a child under going the right of Bain." The small girls whimpering''s softened and her feet visible stopped kicking. I shuddered and clenched my fist trying to move. "Don''t struggle its just in your nature to want to save them but look." she turned my head towards the children that were starting to fade away into dark smoke. She bit into my neck and blood flowed from my vains. Bringing her head back she forcefully kissed me and made me drink my own blood. Her hands grasped my head with a powerful grip as she molested my mouth with her own. Tears formed in my eyes as I felt powerless. She retreated from the embrace and looked into my eyes while opening my white robes. She smeared blood on my chest and wrote runes in the Dark language. "Dona''ken var''vadain?" She smiled as she pored mana into my body and I felt a sickening connection between her and I her soul mingled with mine. I felt powerful lust from her soul but also a trickle of knowledge. -Dark Metamorphosis- (1,000mp+100mp/m) Darkness surround''s you and alters your appearance, Form grows in power the longer it is sustained. She moved back to her chair and sat down. "When you return to your body no time will have passed, you are close to unlocking a racial passive, reach Soul level 200 and it will be available to you." She waved her hand and returned to reading her book. I felt like I was falling until I reached my body The white tree and its mana pool shimmered radiating light... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fellmore Here, Sorry for the wait, had to take a break from royalroad to study for an exam. Quote:Mal''s Book of Origins VOL 0 Chapter 1 : Children of Fate (Unpublished) The world was forever changed by the Xanax/god war. The ashes of this conflict gave life to what our world is now. The Most successful of the intelligent races has been without question the Carnax. The Carnax civilization resembled the Xanax in a almost identical way. Three individuals would rule over a settlement and were from three different ''classes'' Mages, Warriors, and Citizen Soldiers. each had a set of edicts or laws that they fallowed to insure no one group was in control or gained enough power to control the other groups. Mages took on the role of research and development improving the lifestyle and standard of living for the other members of society. Every class had to live with the other casts for at least 10 years, mages would learn the hardships of Citizen Soldiers, and the devotion honor and sacrifice of warriors. Mages were the best magic casters and usually the wisest group acting as healers, teachers, historians, and other civil service occupations. Warriors in peace time fight monsters and act as equalizers to local populations, if a wolf pack grew to large the Carnax warriors would cull the local population to insure they did not destroy the ecosystem. In war they fight on the front lines and act as guards, mercenaries, law enforcement, or any other form of protection for Mages and Citizen Soldiers. Citizen soldiers are the loosely defined members of society that had no combat potential or had been crippled in their duties. Acting as Farmers, Merchants, Blacksmiths, Tanners, Cooks, Lumberjacks, Miners, Local Militia, and many more occupations. While Mages and Warriors work to protect and improve the living of the Citizen soldiers the citizen soldiers seek to help the other groups with commerce food and materials to allow the nation to flourish. Laws were almost non existent, The mages concluded that a nation with many laws would be bogged down and slowly drown under the weight of rules and regulations. Three Laws were set in place for each group. Mages: 1. Do not Kill another Carnax or upset the balance of Life irreparably. 2. Seek power and knowledge and share its majesty with Fellow Carnax. 3. Do not Undermine, Disregard, or Ignore your fellow Casts Warnings and Concerns. Warriors: 1. Do not kill another Carnax or Balance life to inflexibility. 2. Seek to Protect and guard your fellow Carnax from internal or external threats. 3. Do not Undermine Disregard or Ignore your Fellow Casts Warnings and Concerns. Citizen Soldiers: 1. Do not kill another Carnax or Ignore the Fragility and Flexibility of Life. 2. Seek to assist your fellow casts and to warn of corruption and deceit. 3. Do not Undermine Disregard or Ignore your Fellow Casts Warnings and Concerns. The Carnax did not think and act like other races, Carefully watching the actions they made to insure nothing would disrupt the world around them. Greed, Lust, sloth, and Gluttony did not affect the Carnax. Their actions always strived to achieve the perfect balance. Creating harmony and peace, They Envied their predecessors after discovering the ruins of the Xanax people. Carnax did not recognize the ''gods'' as benevolent beings and classified them as greater demons. Their anger knew no limit as they aggressively refused the gods assistance. Pride in their accomplishments made them strive for even greater achievements. The Carnax Empire fell to the weight of the Demon war causing them to destroy their homes, research, and marvels. Few locations still stand and are guarded by strong Mana Worms and Golems. The Carnax people may be scattered but in times of desperate need the Carnax once again reform into a small private army to face any threat that might come. The nomadic Carnax have varying strength, powerful T8 casters to Rank 9-10 warriors. Their craftsmen are of the finest quality and highly coveted, if you can find one willing to trade. Like the fall of the Xanax, The Carnax''s downfall created a Prime Evil, The Demon Lord. Carnax resemble humans but have a longer and unique life cycle. The Carnax are considered youths until their 500th winter, then they undergo a form of mutation. Entering a slumber for a year emerging as a teenager with an ability. Then after another 500 winters the carnax will mutate again. emerging as an actual adult with a skill. Each carnax has an ability and skill. Some grow to be gaints, while other remain small. Some are fragile while others are strong. In this way the casts system has served the Carnax people well. Carnax were the most successful recreation of the Xanax people. The Carnax controlled the entire continent and even the floating islands. With the power of their military only two beings could confront the carnax, the gods. Carnax after 2,000 winters would place themselves in a facility to slumber until they were needed again. The facility was discovered but the powerful guardians dissuaded any from approaching. Mana worms and golems, but the most terrifying of the facilities defenses is the bridge keeper. The Primal Carnax, Unlike other races Carnax can absorb each other to attain abilities skills and spells from their own race. The transfer needed to be voluntary and was solemnly done. Five Primal Carnax exist each defending a Xanax structure, This bridge keeper wounded the god of war for simply gazing at the facility, ever since the god of war has worn his scar with pride having faced a worthy opponent. The way stones created by the Carnax are used to this day, none have been able to recreate them but their utility has been seen as a blessing, we have discovered way stones everywhere and it is almost expected that the carnax expanded further than we had originally thought. Carnaxians have one of the six growth rates of the Xanax. STR DEX AGI WIS INT and SOL. SOL is a unique stat found in Xanax and Carnax. We still don''t know what SOL is but the carnax do and have guarded this secret with their own lives, only carnax with an ability to kill themselves at will are given the knowledge. After conducting research on the Carnax and Xanax It is safe to say that the these two races are so similar that only the appearance and growth rates differ. The Carnax people have not brought back their slumbering brothers. If the carnax ever did bring the power of their entire race, nothing could stop them from retaking their lands, The actual casualties from the Demon War are unknown. Our best estimation is that 94% of their people died during the war. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings. The slumbering members of their society numbered in the millions. One day the Carnax will return, but when they do we must ask ourselves, Why have they come back? Revenge? Conquest? A Holy War against the gods? or an evil that even the mighty carnax feared? The name Car''nax is loosely translated into Child of Fate, while Xan''ax is translated as Guardians of Fate, while Nax''an The originator, is translated as Mother of Fates.
The mana pool shimmered with the holy light, I was captivated by its majesty. I was currently thinking about how I could use this new ability, "Dark Metamorphosis". The ability was powerful, but I did not have the mana to sustain it for long, a day and a half at most. Assuming I didn''t spend my mana on other spells. The elfs ate the fruits and vegetables I had gathered for them, Elves... I felt a faint memory but it was warped and fractured. I internally sighed phantom had so easily controlled my inside of my mind. The elven child was still sleeping, her face twisted and turned, a nightmare. I faintly remembered a nightmare I had as a child. Monsters chasing me over and over never letting me rest or even have a moment to think. I felt sympathy, but it quickly turned into me wanting to smash the child''s head in. I imagined myself smiling I fought the idea, trying to understand what was happening. Why did I feel, Need to kill. Fighting the thought and calming myself down I remembered all of the deaths I had caused and my mind cleared slightly. ''Death brings peace and peace brings strife, strife returns to death and back to peace.'' sam always had something to say. Turning back to the elfs I no longer felt the need or want to kill them. My wraiths stayed far away from the white tree, its holy aura would destroy them. The older elf finished feeding her sleeping companion. The sun was now starting to set aver the mountains to the west. Back to the east the red forest was burning. I saw several wyverns still fighting. I even noticed my C.P. slowly regenerating. Some of my liches must of died. Finding myself again I stood and returned to the elves. I did not know if my voice would be masked by the runes like my aperance but I had the assumption that this armor was of pre-Carnax origin. For all I knew it could be a unique set of armor. "I don''t wish to rush but time is short." My voice sounded hallow but otherwise normal. The elf bowed her head "Thank you, Karvash olanar." she bowed and created a barrier around the small child carrying her. she handed me my cloak and started to walk to the city. I could faintly see its outline an old city made from a magic metal that grows slowly. I fallowed Karvash, Four elves guarded the front gate with other guardians. Bears, Elk, Wisps, living trees and a few frost sabers. The Wisps could feel the soul of any being. Many were evil tricksters while others kind spirits that remained. One of the elves dropped her staff and ran forward her silver hair trailed behind her as 19 mana worms fallowed her. She tackled Karvash with a powerful embrace, sobbing. I noticed several corpses decomposing away from the main gate, trees absorbing then destroying the red magic inside of them. Orcs and goblins had assaulted this place some time ago. The elves spoke in their tong faster than I could understand. Elves had a tendency to speak quickly. Several of the mana worm circled around me hissing. I planted my sword into the ground and waited. Several hours passed until an old elf came forward. High elves have 5 ranks among their magi; white for Mage, green for Magna, Yellow for Magni, Mixed for Magnus and Blue for Magi. This mage, moved forward in a blue gown a T10 caster on her back was a black blade. The Magni among elves need to find a black blade to become a magus, then when the black blade grows into a sentient weapon the Magnus becomes a Magi. Black blades are inherently rare and no one really knows who or what made them. She moved gracefully with 5 Magnus fallowing her. Each could be considered T7-9 casters. The magi''s eyes lingered on the Karvash and her slumbering friend, but when her eyes found me she stopped moving. Time moved slowly in that moment. She had golden hair with glowing blue eyes. Her staff was heavy, made entirely out of the same substance the white wall was made of. I saw her eyes flicker as she cast 4 spells at once, so quickly that I could not copy the spells but I could see them; -Detect- T8 -Dispel- T9 -Disrupt- T9 and -Motive- T10. Detect would allow her to see my status, being unable to see my status she assumed I was using a spell to conceal myself, Dispel and Disrupt had been an attempt to remove any spell, then having failed resorted to casting Motive a spell that allows you to feel the individuals motive or desire. I just wanted to return the two elves to their home and know the location of this settlement so I could avoid them in the future. Her eyes lightened but I could see her confusion. I wanted to avoid them but I was willing to help their people. I was either an Exile or not elven. She bowed to me making a hand sigh for Friend, and I replied with truth. She then raised her hand to the sky with an open pam while I closed my fist and touched the ground. It was an old ceremony and tradition among the elves, my mother did teach me the proper edict for elves. She offered me sanctuary while I respectfully declined. nodding her head she bowed, I stood and bowed as well after a moment we both stood and turned. It was simple elves usually didn''t speak unless it was important. If you ever had the privilege of visiting a high elf settlement you might think that high elves were mute. I walked away from the settlement climbing the hill to reach the white tree. When I turned to look at the red forest a large force of goblins and orcs returning to the forest to defend the seethe tree. My undead army would need my help, I stole one more glance at the elven settlement, Then I sprinted down the hill back to the red forest... _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fellmore here, sorry for the long wait had to prep for finals and reread some chapters. 10 Waking up
Quote:Mal''s Book of Origins VOL 0 Chapter 3 : Fate (Unpublished) In the beginning there were two great civilizations, Originators and the Zakar. After extensive research and speculation we have uncovered what the Zakar civilization was. The Zakar stand 8ft tall and have no face, ears, mouth, or notable characteristics. They are all a blue/gray color and have an ineptitude to use magic. Zakar live for an extremely long time and have few children. Their bones are hallow and usually brittle, their skin is a thin paper like material that is easily cut. The Zakar are fragile, and cannot use magic. So we have looked at the zakars "Magic" and have found that the zakar do not use mana or even have a "soul" as we understand it. Their golems do not use mana or soul trapping stones like we first thought. The zakar created them from the earth and metals in the ground without magic. The Zakar life cycle is strange and disturbing... The youths are intelligent and creative while the older generations lose themselves and become reclusive scholars, at the end of their lives they become enraged, angry, and delusional, after a time they become savage and lash out in a animalistic behavior. Older Zakar were reported to throw themselves into the most dangerous situations. We now understand that the Zakar were pacifist scholars but slowly changed over time to become philosopher warriors. Fighting their older brothers left a scare on the once peaceful zakar. Recently we discovered that the zakar act and work together as individual''s but have a instinctive mind that acts as a unifying voice. Zakar do not debate about going to war or if something is wrong, they simply know. When they met the originators they understood collectively that the Zakar would eventually have to fight the Originators and took the first step. The Zakar/Originator war left behind many relics while the more recent Xanax/god war has left behind many of the zakars creations in moderate condition. The Titan is one example of the zakars relics. Their military was unique and different from conventional armies that we understand. They themselves acted as commanders or tacticians. usually a single army consisted of 13 zakar. 1 general 11 commanders and a single zakar that lead a small group of around 5-30 specialized golems that operate like a squad of paladins or holyknights. Their "golems" acted as warriors and laborers making up the vast majority of their military might. The Zakar themselves value speed, a zakar in its battle armor can make a 1month trip in less then a day. The zakar army does not require sleep or food allowing them to ignore supply lines and boarder wars. Several decades ago there were stories of a small army of golems that were used as weapons during the Conjurer mage civil war. These golems were different from the normal golems we know of and were confirmed to be Zakar in origin before we could reach them the Carnax and several gods attacked the golems. The golems were lead by an ancient Zakar nearing his elder life cycle. We were able to obtain this zakars body after the carnax army was decimated and the gods went into hiding to recover. We made the majority of our discoveries with the body of this zakar and his journal that we are still translating. This zakar was known as a wonderer or outcast. He was collaborating with mages to overthrow the kingdom of order. He was slain by a promising squad of crusaders Raisa R4, Nagol R6, Marcana R8, Aron R8 and Salvazar R9. The Zakar killed Aron, Raisa, and Marcana leaving Salvazar and Nagol in critical condition. These warriors were all Holy Knights and had the highest ranking in team power TR 10. This proves that Zakar alone can be a force equal or greater to a natural disaster. We have now confirmed that the zakar was not wearing a combat suit but a standard civilian model its warriors were construction types. This revelation has been deemed unfit for public eyes and will not be published...
I feel it in the ground... This wetness... I remember it... Tears?, no Blood.... It brings me back... It calls again... The red forest was set aflame. The red horde charged forwarded moving around a small hill of stones. The stones were old and scared but faint traces of words lay on its ancient surface. Nagols undead army moved quickly blood dripping from their weapons and the many zombie like corpses. The red forest now had many puddles of blood forming on the ground. The small hill of stones lay between the two as they smashed into one another. Skeletons breaking apart turning into vapors, bodies falling and raising over and over. Spells erupted and caused the earth to shake from time to time. The stones began to glow an unholy hue. None alive could read the runes, but its meaning was still felt, War. The bloodied ground absorbed the pools of crimson. The two armies continued to fight ignorant of the now glowing black hill. Many of the skeletons hade already been destroyed but now a new formation of skeletons marched forward with their spears and giants looming behind them. Varick stood at the front wielding his bone sword several other liches stood beside him. all of them cast magics at the oncoming horde. The front lines of the undead were bloodied and thinned, the liches cast raise dead and the now broken line was reformed with new "recruits" One of the liches that was leading the front lines was tackled by a bear and tossed back shattering his bones. Varick walked up to the bear as it was held down with the many spears of the skeletons, he stuck his blade into the bears eyes and twisted the blade, after several minuets the bear went limp only to raise again as apart of the undead army. One of the liches moved beside varick and handed him a tattered rag, in a rasped and strained voice the lich spoke, "The left flank struggles." Varick cleaned his weapon and marveled at the black bone blade. "The hole led to a spiders nest its brood is not infected, we may have use of them." The lich took out an bottle of green venom. "the queen is most generous." Varick took the vial and pored some onto the red roots covering the ground. They smoldered for a moment then liquefied. "This is good." he returned the bottle and waved at one of the liches, using his telepathy he ordered him and his warriors to assist the left flank. 4 gaints and 25 orcs and 150 human skeletons along with several wraiths fallowed as he moved. The black hill cracked and rocks fell, varick noticed and ordered his liches to move away. The black hill rumbled as more rocks fell until only the large shield and a tall armored warrior stood. The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. I can feel it now... This thrill... The giant was 8ft tall not as tall as the 12ft tall giant skeletons but tall enough to be an imposing figure. His chestplate was covered with a tabard, two dual bladed bone scythes with a dragons skull. In his free hand he held a spear 12ft tall 2ft thick, it shined like polished metal. The spear was actually a banner and his left hand grasped the large shield beside him. His armor resembled nagols but was thicker, his eyes did not glow with green fire but red. He slammed his shield and spear together and roared. Finally WAR!! He moved forward slowly raising his shield slightly off the ground. His banner swayed back and forth as he trudged forward. His eyes burning with anticipation, licking the air with its flames. Mana formed around him as several earthen bodies rose from the ground, golems. 20 bloody clay golems rose and formed with swords and shields, each standing 5ft tall. R3 golems, strong and durable but weaker than average R3 warriors. Golems were always one rank below their designation only their stamina and durability were noticeable. The golems ran forward and sliced out at the red horde, joining the undead in their assault. More animals and creatures of the night came to the slaughter. the golems would break and fall but would slowly rise from the ground, their cores still intact. The giant knight reached the front lines and joined his golems in fighting the red horde. Varick observed the knight but ignored it, it did not shine with life, but death. Raising his staff he ordered the giants to charge forward. The knight moved forward never stopping, slowly he was advancing while his golems spread out to assist the battle line. More magic flew through the air as more mages appeared. several blood fiends reveled themselves. Monsters taken apart and reformed into bloodied abominations. Corpses would be sucked up by the bloody roots and then reform them to better serve the seethe tree. Fires grew and smoke obscured the battlefield, arrows magic and bodies flew around the battlefield. Varick neared the front line and ordered his liches to spread out, their wraiths darted in and out of the battlefield killing unsuspecting victims. Varicks staff glowed with the souls of the departed. The blood fiends reached the front line ripping through the skeletons and jumping at the giants skeletons. Some jumped onto the gaint knight but were quickly killed by a dark aura that caused them to be ripped apart. The knight raised his banner and several balls of darkness formed and descended on the approaching blood fiends. Several explosions of dark energy caused the horde to drop by a considerable amount giving the liches time to raise more undead. The knight slammed his shield into one of the blood fiends as it leaped at him, the shield glowed dark as the blood fiend hit it. The blood fiend was torn apart and its blood flowed into the shield, the dark knights eyes glowed a brighter red as the blood was absorbed. The knights armor shuttered and then he roared once more raising his banner to the sky. "FOR WAR!!! FOR CONQUEST!!! FOR BLOOD!!!" The words reverberated around the field and more of the horde converged on the knight. The dark aura shined brighter as the knight slammed his shield into oncoming enemies, his banner like spear lashed out sending bodies flying, occasionally he would impale a large animal and then spun his spear until releasing the animals corpse chucking it onto incoming enemies. Liches took advantage of the corpse and used corpse explosion causing even more of the red horde to die in spectacular ways. Infected beings of the red seethe tree showed no fear, charging blindly into their enemies. The seethe trees roots now waved back and forth removing their stiffness and some roots even lashed out at the undead army. Liches burned the roots as quickly as they could but their numbers fell as the tree finally began to retaliate. The liches acting as the back guard were not idle, throwing fireballs and burning bone spears into the forest causing most of the forests surroundings to be set aflame. Moving in a secular formation around the seethe tree, several other creatures were captured and put inside of the bone cages. The right flank met little resistance but still faught to burn the forest, the left flank was met with a large swarm of blood fiends and lost almost all of their liches to surprise attacks. Varick led the vanguard forward while the main body of the army set out more liches to support the three armies, while burning everything in their path. Only two tactics could be used when fighting a seethe tree, send in a shock team of powerful warriors to destroy the seethe trees core body, or burn the forest and soundings to weaken the trees power. Nagol attempted to use both tactics at once, if the army interior fell then he would reinforce the external and continue to burn the forest, if the assault succeeded he could use the remaining liches to burn down the roots to insure no new seethe tree would form. Varick was now beside the dark knight, lashing out with his sword and several fireballs. The other liches did the same with the golems protecting their flanks and using them as shields. The other minions filled in the ranks and held the line fighting. Several of the newer undead glowed with powerful unholy auras. The army advanced several miles until they were met with a giant cliff with a gate wide open, the seethe trees branches loomed over them and swayed back and forth. The red horde became even more violent slamming into the undead with reckless abandon growing in size as their rage consumed them. The Dark knight rushed forward and disappeared into the opened doors its golems rushed in with him shorty after. Varick ordered his army to create a barricade keeping the red horde out of the entrance while himself and 6 liches would go inside with a small group of their strongest undead. Varick led his warriors through and felt the walls watching him, buildings glowing with the red roots, slowly slithering around. The seethe tree had taken over the fort of Dagger Point and became the seethe trees home. Fire flashed from inside the cave... ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Fellmore here, sorry for being "late" on this chapter. I just passed my exam and have a bit more free time. If you see any errors please let me know.
