《Glory Of The Hunt》 Chapter 1 - Introduction scientists seeking knowledge with reason make slow progress due to the obstruction of morals and emotions. But scientists that go to far and throw reason out the window and use everything and anything they must to get a result truly make the fastest progress even if it as the cost of whatever good that was within them from the beginning. Magicians regardless of the knowledge of the mystical energy they use distance themselves from scientists who pride themselves on the great nexus of knowledge that has been consistently growing since the start of their quest of information. The reason scientists are so rare is because what they research is considered to be something that is far more dangerous then any magic. In the distant past great warlords that owned large sections of land would maintain their position with their physical strength or magical might. But the times of wars and destruction was ended in the face of a madman sick of the world around him that drove him insane in the pursuit of power holding a glass tube full of an unknown green concoction. Yet so many years past but another scientist had been forced into a situation with no other way out. 28 miles off the coast of Tiel Crov a large man made island was forged from iron. Floating above the surface this city sized lab was covered in rust. It almost looked like a real island with the plants and wildlife growing from the cracks. Deep inside the structure right at the heart of it was a small simple room. Once full of life now it was drowned in silence. The only light that graced this room with its unsettling glow was from the large cylinder shaped glass pod in the centre of the room reaching from the ground to well above the ceiling Standing before the pod was an old man in a white overcoat that had a dark grey receding hairline on wrinkled old bones. The overcoat covered in the same stains it had since many years before and it would most certainly be contagious to the touch. But the old researcher didn''t mind as he was used to it. But regardless of how much he could adapt to things it was never enough. The same couldn''t be said for the dark shadow of a creature inside of the green pod where the researcher''s eyes were fixed to. The researcher could hear alarms in the distance showing him that his fortress had been attacked by someone but it didn''t matter anymore. Nothing mattered to him anymore. The creature inside of the glass case had a code given to it as written on the pod it woke in. TS4893 was the code given to the final product of the researcher''s work. He had to go to the depths of the deepest dungeons and to the heights of the highest mountains but as he looked at his creation only one thought came to mind. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. "The hunt finally begins" The researcher said while placing his left hand on the tube. To his genuine surprise the creature in the pod stretched out its arm and placed it against the glass where the scientists hand was. The key word being "was". *Crack* The glass around where the creature''s hand was broke off and shattered onto the floor. Liquid of unknown origin spilled from the pod as the system drained out. The scientist fell back confused as to what had happened. Only when he looked at his left hand did he realise what had happened. It wasn''t hard. His hand was just not in his possession any more as the creature before him chewed on it with perfectly clean teeth build for a carnivore. The room grew darker as the liquid was washed away into the waters bellow them. The floor was just above sea level and the room was given a perfect view of the deep sea as it was mostly without a floor. The scientist basked in the glory of his creation one last time before his head was rolling by his feat. "Breach" heavily armed men entered a very dark room looking for where the scientist could be. The were starting to lose hope of ever running into him but they found the scientist hanging around the observation deck. The scientist wasn''t in a talking mood but being hanged by your intestinal track was not very useful at making people talk. The guards could only wonder what had gotten here before them but it wasn''t long until they had discovered what. 7 heavily armoured men and women highly trained in combat against scientists under the command of a powerful knight called Wesler. Looking down upon its new prey the creature TS4893 smiled a deathly grin as it started its task it was programmed to do. Kill all of them. Hunt from the shadows and one by one they would all die. Nobody but TS4893 was going to leave this island alive. "Time to hunt" Said a dark voice of demonic origin. But even demons would have been shaken by this voice that made Wesler shiver and consider leaving the island early. But Wesler decided to finish the mission and entered the island fortress once more followed by 8 heavily armoured knights. ----------------------- Ok I got the pr guy in and he convinced me to alter my story a little bit to make it more interesting for people to read. Everyone give a big round of applause to the pr guy who will be helping me from now on and making my work a little more detailed. One thing I must ask. How do I add an image to my fiction? I resized it and made sure it was a small enough data size but I am unable to put my little image up on the fiction page Chapter 1.5 (My pr/editor is on holiday so the story is on hold for a bit) A strange feeling came over TS4893 while it stood upon the tallest tower on the iron island. Pillars of smoke held up the sky and the fires that fulled its growth still burning strong reinforced it. TS4893 was alive. Looking down at the strange creatures bellow filled it with curiosity and it wanted to find out more. It NEEDED to find out more. How did they walk, talk and breath? How did their digestive track work and how did their brain process information? But what made is most curious was how even with the full force of TS4893''s blood lust descending onto them with quiet words. How could they still look around and smile? Why did they trust each other? What made them this way? TS4893''s brain was that of an undeveloped child and it hungered information. Lacking true depth of feeling. Lacking strategy. lacking anything but raw unmatched instincts. "Time to hunt" Spoke the creature as it took a few steps forwards. Just before it jumped off the edge of the tower it felt that one of the knights sent a gaze at its direction and this gaze made the creature take a step back. ''Wesler. Something wrong'' The creature''s hearing picked this up from 7 miles away. Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation. ''No... Just an uneasy feeling. Lets hurry this mission along. We don''t want any surprises before we fight the scientist. But at that point I am sure we will be well and truly surprised'' Taking one last look directly where TS4893 was standing he turned to the entrance to the island and began the decent to the depths bellow. TS4893 knew Wesler didn''t see through the fog but the fear had left its mark. Burning the feeling into its eyes TS4893 marked its first target. Wesler Toriphi, The knight of the hawk would be the first to die in this game of life and death. ------------------------- Short chapter? Sorry it won''t always be this way. I just had the WORST timing so... Next chapter will be with a long delay but I will make sure it will be long to compensate. Note. he will be back off holiday on the 5th of September and then he has to tell me "How the hell did you spell ''and'' wrong?" and "You failure. Why the hell do you have three duplicated words in a row?" you know. normal pr complaints :D Chapter 2 - The beginning A strange feeling came over TS4893 while it stood upon the tallest tower on the island of iron. Pillars of smoke rose around that looked to have held up the sky for years and the fires that fulled the growth of many abominations that would never be welcome in the face of a god still ever burning strong in the heavy atmosphere that weighed down on everyone near by. The twilight of the sun rising was just enough light to shine into TS4893''s core making it feel truly alive. Looking down at the strange creatures bellow filled it with curiosity and it wanted to find out more. It NEEDED to find out more. How did they walk? How did they talk? How did they breath? How did their digestive track work and how did their brain process information? But what made it most curious was how even with the full force of TS4893''s blood lust descending onto them with quiet words. How could they still look around and smile? Why did they trust each other enough to turn their backs for even a second? What made them this way? TS4893''s brain was that of an undeveloped child and it hungered information. Lacking true depth of feeling. Lacking strategy. lacking anything but raw unmatched instincts. "Time to hunt" Words whispered as quiet as a mouse would scurry across a floor. Though to some people blood lust makes that sound of a scurrying mouse move across a metal floor leaving behind an echo that travels for miles. The creature took a few steps forwards though Just before it jumped off the edge of the tower in search of its prey it was interrupted by a feeling that one of the knights sent a gaze at its direction and this gaze made the creature take a step back. 8 miles away Wesler turned his head towards the exact place TS4893 was standing. A huge pillar of infernal ash obstructed his view and the sounds of the roaring fire that fuelled TS4893''s inception overwhelmed any attempt to hear TS4893. Though the feeling of danger that plagued his mind... that was all Wesler needed. Drawing a long and simple yet elegant well made dagger from the sheath at his waist and taking a quick slash in the direction of TS4893''s all so high up tower, was just the act of a slightly paranoid mad man to the guards around him. Slashing thin air and expecting something to happen. But both Wesler and TS4893 saw what happened. The pillar of smoke protecting TS4893 was cut in half. Had TS4893 not moved It would be able to say it was exactly half the being it used to be. Now hidden behind the tower itself with claws digging into the side of the tower it pulled itself up and observed the being that attacked it. TS4893 used its sorry excuse for a brain to feel what could only be described as.... excitement. A brain was something that not taken for granted by TS4893, however it was something that could be taken at least. Before it could begin hunting down it''s true first enemy it had to get close enough to gain useful parts from the cannon fodder that Wesler surrounded himself with. ''Wesler. Something wrong'' The creature''s hearing picked this up from 8 miles away. Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. ''No... Just an uneasy feeling. Lets hurry this mission along. We don''t want any surprises before we fight the scientist. But at that point I am sure we will be well and truly surprised regardless of our best efforts'' Taking one last look directly where TS4893 was standing but new smoke had already blocked a sight that could have let him end the nightmare to come without worry. he turned back to the entrance to the island''s internal structure and began the decent to the depths bellow. TS4893 knew Wesler didn''t see through the pitch black wall of fog that worked as one way glass for TS4893 but the fear had left its mark. Burning the feeling into its eyes TS4893 marked its first target. Wesler Toriphi, The knight of the hawk would be the first to die in this game of life and death. 7 people that would taste delicious. TS4893''s eyes didn''t see people nor even enemies. It saw parts. Some had useful bones while others had interesting muscle tissue that set them apart from the others due to the microscopic slight changes and DNA mutations in each of them. Broken down simply TS4893 would have to get close and eat them before it could even think about hunting Wesler. How do you get close to a bunch of people wearing metal? Simple. TS4893 jumped down from the tall tower it stood on and used its left hand to claw through a line of metal on the seemingly endless decent into the dark abyss bellow yet to be illuminated by the light of the sun. The metal didn''t peal off or part. it was fully absorbed into TS4893. Metal scales forced themselves through tough skin forming the shape of the knights armour. With newly formed eyes so kindly taken from doctor Luke TS4893 was able to see what it was up against under the same light as Wesler would see the abomination that is TS4893. A man wielding a long and thin dagger marked with the head of a bird though the exact bird was one never seen before by TS4893. Unconsciously driven on instinct and the biggest adrenaline rush it had yet to feel. TS4893 fell into a wide open broken and rusty pipe to prepare for a slaughter as it followed its prey from a distance and prepared to ambush anyone out of position. Long legs propelled it through the underground network of pipes and tubes that stretched across the vast space through the island. Moving in the walls and through the cracks. Waiting in the shadows for the chance to strike. The knowledge of this was infused into muscle memory. A final gift from the mad scientist behind creating its ever evolving form. A smile crept onto TS4893''s pale grey face as it formed the helmet that would protect the intelligent life form beneath. Sentience is truly a dangerous thing to gave to a being who cares not for its fellow creatures. --------------- Enjoy the chapter. I hope to get 1 a week out but I would rather not rush or hold back on releasing a good chapter to this story.
