《The Otherworld Journey As A Fox》 Prologue: Being a Fox In the middle of a vast forest, was an altar made of stone. The altar had been standing there from time immemorial. It was a place where the dangerous creatures could not enter and the weak and young creatures could rest. Such a place was now deserted. The creatures living there had moved on to another place and left the altar grounds. One day, a dazzling light emerged right at the center of that altar. When the light receded, there was a little fox lying unconscious on the ground. The fox had black fur with some red lines on his body. The fox''s body was normal, but the same could not be said about his mental state. When it woke up, it observed its surroundings. "Where am I?" the fox thought to itself. Then, when it looked at his own body, astonishment and confusion hit it. However, unlike many of the other creatures, it did not faze him that much. "So I really died at that time, huh?" thought the fox. The fox had been a human in his previous life and was a boy and a fairly clever one at that. However, their planet''s fate had already been set in stone. The Sun in their solar system had already reached its age and was about to blow up in a couple of days. Many people despaired when they learned about this news. Some stayed with their family. Some went on with their lives like nothing happened. And some contemplated on what they had done in their life. The fox, who was a human at that time, had gone out of his house to buy some food, when he saw a small child, with a ball in his hands, on the road, who was about to be run over by a truck. In hopes of saving the little kid he had rushed to the kid''s side and pushed the child away. He was able to push the kid out of the truck''s range but was not able to escape himself, and had been run over. When the fox remembered that moment, he felt satisfaction, but at the same time, he felt stupid. He only had some time left to spend with his parents and his school friends, and yet he had wasted his life to look like a hero, who came out of some novel or storybook. He could not accept such a fate and yet, it was already handed to him. He could only sigh in resignation. When he was a human, he did not really associate that much with other people, but was not a complete loner. The reason for this was that he was too rational and calculating. Many people stopped talking to him due to his personality. However, now he was all alone above this stone altar. He could not help sighing. Suddenly something popped up in front of him. It was a pale black game window. The details written in it were: CONGRATULATIONS You have met the requirements and have acquired the titles ''The Fox Child'', ''The One Who Can Adapt'', and ''The Reincarnated One''. Abilities Gained From The Title: ? ''The Fox Child'' ¨C Instinct, Iron Stomach, Nocturnal Eyes, Identify, Telepathy, Language Comprehension, Illusion Magic. ? ''The One Who Can Adapt'' ¨C Supreme Adaptability, Rational Thinking. ? ''The Reincarnated One'' ¨C Supreme Calculation, Creative Thinking, Insane Growth. Seeing that window, the fox looked blankly at it for some time before trying to shout, "You must be kidding me!" However, the only noise that came out was a fox''s loud howl. He could have accepted being reincarnated as a fox or being in a completely unknown place, but this was taking it beyond the point of no return. He had always hated the stories of heroes having such cheats and had thought that the Gods were unfair. Now, he had gained the same abilities as them. He was excited, but still not convinced that fate would be this kind. He tried to say "Menu!" like many other stories, but nothing happened. Next, he tried to concentrate and think of the game menu inside his mind. A couple of seconds passed but nothing happened. He could not see a menu, much less a character profile. As he gave up on trying to call the menu, a certain ability that he gained with a title, came up in his mind. The ability called ''Identify''. If he was correct it should let him check his status. He mentally said the name of the ability, "Identify!" in his mind while considering himself as the target. Suddenly, two new windows popped up. In them was his status. The status was: TARGET INFO Name No Name Skill Points 1000 Race Mystic Fox Youngling (Variant) Main Race Magical Beast Blessings Blessing of the Supreme God Affinity Fire; Water; Wind; Earth; Electricity; Poison; Light; Darkness; Good; Evil; Astral; Void; ??? He would have believed if someone said that he became a fox through reincarnation. However, he could not believe that he was reincarnated in a world with every young child''s dream, Magic. He too, had wished to see real magic when he was young and fantasized about being a hero, but later learnt that a hero is like an evil magnet, which attracts evil. "The God''s must be playing with me." He thought. As he thought this, a window popped up. It displayed a skill he gained due to using Identify on himself. The skill was called ''Game Interface''. It allowed the user to check their status and skills. He could also choose which ones to see. After trying his new skill and its functions, he looked around himself and looked at himself again. He was completely able to figure out that he was a male fox, to his relief. He looked around and saw a puddle of water near him. He went close to the edge and looked over to see his reflection. When he saw it, he was completely captivated. He was an animal lover in his past life but still, the face he saw in the puddle was definitely far cuter than the face of any creature he had seen until now. At that moment, he once again doubted his gender and inspected his body thoroughly. After completely satisfying himself with the inspection, he once again checked the place for any possible dangers. He was on top of the altar, so he could see everything coming near the altar. He confirmed that this place seemed to be abandoned and so started to go down the steps of the altar. When he reached the ground, suddenly light poured out from the altar, which made him turn around to look at the altar. At first, he could not see anything because of the light, but as it slowly faded he saw an old man with a long beard that reached the base of the altar, coming down from the altar. The old man was wearing white robes, like the one which wizard''s wear. Considering his overall appearance, he looked like a sage or an old wizard. However, due to the ability, ''Instinct'', the fox was able to understand that the old man was too majestic as well as godly for a normal wizard. While the fox was amazed, the old man reached the ground and was just some distance away from the fox. When he realized that the old man was coming towards him, he put up his guard. Seeing the fox reaction the old man stopped and said, "Do not be afraid, little one. I do not wish to harm you." Hearing the voice of the old man, he felt tranquility enter his very being. However, he was not a mere fox. He had his own fair share of conversations in his previous life, and his experience told him that someone who says that line is always someone shady. Even ''Inspection'' was not working on him. The fox activated his ability, ''Telepathy'' to speak with the person in front of him as he could not speak with a fox''s vocal chord. "Who are you?" said the fox telepathically. The old man answered with a surprised tone, "Oh! So you can already use your abilities. Truly a fascinating one. As for the answer to your question, I am the Supreme God. You can think of me as the God of Gods. I have many names, but you can call me Oldrin. That is what they call me in this world." The fox was completely not interested in talking to the old man who named himself as Oldrin. He was a fan of fantasy stories but did not want to have to go through it, himself. And as the person in front of him was a type of God, it meant that the scenario where he would have to fight monster or humans was about to occur. While the fox thought these things, Oldrin broke his chain of thoughts. "Do not worry, little one. I did not revive you here as a fox for such a mundane purpose." said Oldrin. At first, the fox was shocked on how Oldrin was able to read his thoughts, but then he remembered that he was a being greater than God. Then suddenly, he looked at Oldrin with disgust. After all, reading someone''s thoughts was a breach of privacy. Oldrin too knew that so he silently took the stare head-on. Then, the fox asked, "If you did not revive me as a fox for such a purpose, then what is the reason for reviving me?" Oldrin replied by saying, "I revived you so that I could see the way of life, a human lives when he is turned into another creature. Many of the other Gods have done this before. Only I am the one who could not find a fitting person for this job. Do not worry. You will not be restrained by any power in this world, except mine. You can be anything you have ever wished to be. A hero, a demon king. Even being a God is achievable in this world. So long as you do not die, you can do anything in this world." The fox once again looked at him with disgust and said, "Cheat character." Oldrin became depressed hearing this. He had not been called that ever in his whole life, which was far longer than the life of a star. Even in front of a Supreme God, the fox was throwing insults as if wiping his hands. This was one of the reasons why Oldrin never found a person that would be perfect for this game of Gods. He could not find a person who dared to say such things in front of him. He wanted to see a person, who would not be chained down even by the Gods, to reincarnate. Such reasoning had led him to reincarnate a boy who tried to save a little kid. Though Oldrin had his doubts, they were cleared when he started conversing with the fox telepathically. After all, none of the reincarnated people had been able to grasp the power of the gifts they had gained, in such a short amount of time. Afterwards, a Supreme God began explaining about the world to a cute little fox, which would have looked stupid to many people. However, those who could discern people could have seen the thirst for knowledge in the little fox''s unwavering and determined eyes. What Oldrin said was that the world they were in, was called Aeon. It was a world of fantasies, where different races lived. They were in a very big forest of Aeon just to have a safe place to talk in. Though this place had weak monsters in the center, the edge of the forest had many magical beasts of the dragon-kind. Due to this, the forest was called the Mystic Forest by the beings of this world. When the fox asked if there were dragons in the forest, Oldrin said that they were not in this forest but could be found in the mountains of Aeon. Normally, anybody would have been relieved after hearing this, but the little fox seemed to be irritated that there were no dragons in the forest. This made Oldrin question the mentality of the little fox. As for the reason of the fox''s irritation, he just wanted to see and ride a real dragon. He considered it the king of mystical beasts and wanted to keep one as a pet. It was also portrayed as a very cool-looking creature in his past life. The wish of having a pet dragon had not dissipated even after being reincarnated as a fox; instead it had increased exponentially. Suddenly a window popped up in front of him to report a new skill like a loyal servant. This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it CONGRATULATIONS You have unlocked the skill ''Ambition''. Even after having a hard to reach aim, you did not give up and were thus given the skill that reflects your ambition. Ambition: A skill that gives you a boost in stats according to the ambition you have for the task. It is like ''Limit Break'', but is more better in terms of efficiency. The fox''s mouth hung open. Oldrin was amused since the little fox had gained yet another skill. When the fox asked about the matter, Oldrin said that none had gained such a skill and that it might be a unique skill. Hearing the word ''might'' made the fox suspicious and he asked Oldrin if he did not create this world. As it turned out, Oldrin created the world and the Gods of this world but left the management to a system of sorts. It was called the ''Ark Magus System''. "The Ark Magus System is an independent system that has equal amount of authority as me, but only in this world." said Oldrin, his voice growing weary. He did not expect explaining to be as hard as this. After they were done talking, Oldrin gave the little fox a last present, which was a new name. This world had people with different names. But it was better to have a different name. So he thought about it a bit and said, "I think Ludius should suffice as your name. As for the whole name, let it be Vana Ludius." When he said that, the name in the profile changed from no name to Vana Ludius. He was looking forward to Oldrin''s naming sense, but it turned that the Supreme God''s naming sense was far worse than his own. He could not help but sigh. The One above Gods seemed like a complete klutz to Ludius. After that when Oldrin''s time in that world was near the limit, he gave the fox a little warning. "Do not try to defeat the Ark Magus System." Was what Oldrin said to Ludius and then disappeared in a blinding light like the one he came in. Some seconds passed and Ludius stared at the empty place where Oldrin was standing. Suddenly, a very dark and disturbing aura came from his body. It was neither a skill nor an ability. It was the manifestation of his own emotions. The emotion of happiness one feels when they dissect a frog during a biology class. People in his old world would have called him a freak, but in this new world, freaks were a common occurrence. His real intention was still the same as in his old world. To gain all the knowledge of the world and beyond. He was a normal person yet at the same time, he was not, due to his unquenchable thirst for knowledge. As he was wondering about the first creature he would meet in such a scenario , while suppressing his aura, a rustling sound caught his attention. At first he thought it might be a dangerous creature, but the ones that came out of the bushes completely destroyed his opinion. What were in front of him, were foxes that looked majestic. According to his Inspection ability, they were adults of another kind of race of Mystic Foxes. Actually, they were of the normal Mystic fox species. There were two in total. One had silver-colored fur with a yellow-colored mane, which according to him was a female fox. The other fox had yellow fur with a silver-colored mane and was a male. The male fox''s face though, gave Ludius a bit of a scare. "Will my face also look so grotesque when I grow up?" He thought to himself. The yellow fox''s face was actually like that of a very angry general from a boot camp. He could see that other than his faces they looked like the deities of a certain country. They seemed to be assessing him. Then suddenly the yellow fox looked at him in disgust. Ludius could easily guess the reason behind that look. He was a variant. A variant could also mean that they would be considered as either inferior or stronger. In this case, it seemed like he was considered as a freak or an inferior creature. This really tugged at his conscience. After all, if he compared his and their appearance, then the one who would come out as a victor was him. "Hey! You kid." The yellow fox said telepathically. It was a pretty impolite way to talk to a stranger, yet he seemed to be thinking of himself as the lord of this forest. "Did you see something here?" the yellow fox asked. The two foxes had actually been assigned to search the area for the cause of the white light but they could find a thing. Then, suddenly they saw another blinding white light. When they saw it, they ran towards it as fast as they could, but they only found a suspicious, little, black fox. Using Identify, the yellow fox found out that he was a variant of his own kind and a really weak one at that. The reason they thought he was weak was that they could not see his actual stats. It could be said that Ludius was the only fox with this ability. They wondered if this fox had seen the thing causing the lights so they asked. For the two Mystic foxes though, the answer came along with an insult. "I saw something, but I am not telling anything to you two foxes." The black fox said telepathically, in a very disgusted tone. On the other side, when Ludius was saying these things he had already used Inspection on them and gained a new skill called Appraisal, so he knew their strength. Though they seemed quite tough, they did not have the one thing that Ludius had, and that was his arsenal of skills and abilities along with his previous life''s memory and intellect. Still, they did pose one problem to him, and that was the fact that their Intelligence stat was almost low as his. He could already tell that the yellow fox was arrogant but he could not help but think of him as a dumb fox now. The data about the two foxes, using Appraisal were: TARGET INFO Name El Zorro Race Mystic Fox: Adolescent Level 70 Main Race Magical Beast H.P. 30000 M.P. 200 E.P. 30000 S.P. 10000 Strength 1000 Vitality 1000 Intelligence 50 Wisdom 75 Dexterity 500 Agility 500 Resistance 1000 Luck D Abilities Mystic Fox Species'' Innate Abilities Skills Mystic Fox Species'' Innate Skills TARGET INFO Name El Shiro Race Mystic Fox: Adolescent Level 72 Main Race Magical Beasts H.P. 28500 M.P. 500 E.P. 30000 S.P. 10000 Strength 900 Vitality 1200 Intelligence 500 Wisdom 700 Dexterity 750 Agility 450 Resistance 10000 Luck C Abilities Mystic Fox Species'' Innate Ability; Foresight Skills Mystic Fox Species'' Innate Skills; Light Magic Lvl 10 When the yellow fox Zorro, saw Ludius give a smug grin, he lost his cool, and got ready to kill the little fox in front of him. As both Ludius and Zorro were going to charge at one another, Shiro, the silver fox stopped Zorro with a piercing glare. Ludius too, stopped after seeing his opponent back down. "The one called Shiro must be Zorro''s superior." Ludius thought. And tried to converse with them again. "My name is Ludius. And who might you two be?" asked Ludius in a polite manner, through telepathy, which stunned the two foxes. After all, the little, rebellious fox''s attitude had taken a 180 degrees turn, now. Thinking that Ludius had seen him as the stronger one, Zorro became more arrogant. "Humph! And here you dared to go against me. I must say I was impress-" He said telepathically, but was cut off by Ludius as he telepathically said, "Shut up, Pea-brain! My talking politely has nothing to do with you. It is just a common way of greeting others, if you did not know." His arrogance shattered once more, Zorro was once again getting ready to start a fight, but this time, Shiro interrupted it. "I hope you do not have the intention to shed the blood of your own race." said Shiro. Hearing this, Zorro stiffened up once again. He could not refute to the fact that the Ludius was a Mystic Fox. He grudgingly went to search at the other places. Now it was only Shiro and Ludius alone in that place. To break the silence, Shiro said, "I am sorry for his misconduct. He is one of the strongest in our clan so he acts arrogantly. I would like to introduce myself. My name is El Shiro. The other one is my younger brother, El Zorro." She did not speak in the same manner as Zorro, but instead in a more polite manner. This was due to being able to see Ludius'' stats. They could not see it as a window like Ludius, but were fed the information on their target straight, through a voice. While Zorro only looked for his level, Shiro had looked up for his stats instead of his level. As she had more experience than Zorro, she knew that she could not judge the opponent from just his level. Ludius shrugged it off and said, "I do not mind. Many like him are always reckless." After that, they talked about the forest and the creatures living in it. Eventually, Shiro asked about the light; to which Ludius replied, "That was a wyvern that had gained the Light God''s Blessings." She was worried when she heard that. Afterwards, Zorro came back. Shiro invited Ludius to their clan but he refused. For him, the main priority was training to get stronger and get out of this forest. However he told them that he would come around if he had questions to ask or if they needed help. -+++++- Like this, they bid each other farewell. After coming some distance away from the place, Zorro asked angrily, "Sister, why did you act so kindly to that little runt? Even the weakest of our clan could have beaten him." His sister though had an inner turmoil. She, unlike her brother, had checked him correctly. Her greatest fears were Ludius'' blessings. He had been given the blessings of many Gods and by someone called the Supreme God. His ridiculous ability called, Supreme Adaptability. That ability would have made him stronger every second in the battle. And the faint, but strong aura. An aura that could be said to rival the War God''s aura itself. These things were bringing about a maelstrom of questions in her mind, but the main question was: "Who was that little black fox, called Ludius." Along the road to their clan''s base, Zorro kept pestering her with questions while she was spaced out. -+++++- On the other hand, Ludius started to move once he could no longer see the two foxes. He activated his magic-related skills and abilities and created 13 balls of the different elements. The color of those balls were a blazing red color for fire; elegant ultramarine for water; faint green for wind; rigid brown for earth; flashy yellow for electricity; viscous green for poison; plain white for light; pale black for darkness; bright yellow for good; blood red for evil; starry dark blue for astral; pitch black for void and; total gray for the ??? Element. He made them float and rotate around him in circles and then went to search for a creature that would be good as food. Little did he know that Oldrin was watching him from the heavens. Oldrin was already laughing enthusiastically, while the other Gods paled when they saw a reincarnated person easily use magic. Normally living beings needed to be taught how to use magic, but the fox had done it on his own. They watched everything that he did until now, and he had not really been taught how to use magic, yet he used it. Ludius planned chase after a rabbit that was as big as an ox. He planned to kill the rabbit using a hybrid of either a normal bite or Claw Lvl. 1 and Poison Magic Lvl. 1. He wanted to first slash it or pierce it with his fangs, then use poison magic''s Paralyzing Poison Generation. The Gods that oversaw Aeon, were shocked that he did not even think about the consequences of angering a Bulk Rabbit. These creatures were mostly docile, but if threatened, they would go on a rampage until they cool down. After some time, Ludius met an exceptionally strong one. When Ludius looked at its stats, he felt the need to ask if the creature in front of him was really an overgrown rabbit or not. Its stats were: TARGET INFO Name No Name Race Bulk Rabbit Level 25 Main Race Magical Beast H.P. 1000 M.P. 10 E.P. 1000 S.P. 1000 Strength 40 Vitality 50 Intelligence 1 Wisdom 5 Dexterity 30 Agility 35 Resistance 50 Luck C Abilities Bulk Rabbit''s Innate Abilities; Raging Soul Skills Bulk Rabbit''s Innate Skills; Berserk He concluded from the appraisal that the rabbit was strong enough to kill his own kind ten times before dying. Still, Ludius had one thing that could let him win and that was his knowledge, and he was not going to be afraid of using it to its full potential. Chapter 1: Fox vs Rabbit Hello everyone! Paramyth¨¢s here. I am trying to figure out how everything works so sorry if I am not able to upload on the time I was planning to. Well, without further ado, here''s the story.
Ludius did not approach the rabbit from the front. Instead, he quietly crept behind the rabbit and hid behind a bush. He planned to take it by surprise but it did not go as planned. When Ludius jumped out of the bushes, the rabbit had already sensed his presence and was charging towards him. Ludius tried to dodge it but the rabbit changed his posture and hit him with his feet. Due to the force of the impact, Ludius was thrown 10 meters away from the rabbit and hit a tree trunk. He could hear his bones cracking and he was having difficulty in breathing. He could tell that he had taken a lot of damage from just that single kick. He was even on the verge of falling unconscious. However, he did not feel fear. Instead, he felt thrill. A thrill so intense that it overshadowed all the other emotions in him. He used the skill Soul Manipulation to forcefully keep himself conscious, and activated the skill Ambition. While he was doing these things, the bulk rabbit did not stay in one place. It started to charge towards him. Seeing the speed of the rabbit, a human of Aeon would have been astounded, but the fox was not. He used the elemental spheres he had created to slow him down. The rabbit ran straight, thinking that such attacks would not hurt him, but he could not have been more wrong. The moment it came near the spheres, they changed their shape and turned into spikes with a sharp point. One could see the sleekness of these spikes. The moment the rabbit came into contact with the spikes, the spikes skewered its body. A loud cry of agony resounded in the forest. The pain was so much that the rabbit lost any reasoning that was left and rampaged around without a fixed target. Ludius did not miss this chance and created more spheres. When the rabbit saw them, he registered Ludius as his enemy and charged towards him again. This time, Ludius transformed the spheres into long swords. The swords were floating behind him and looked completely ethereal. Ludius operated them and they targeted the rabbit. The rabbit tried to dodge them but they changed their trajectory instantaneously, making it impossible to focus on defeating Ludius. For some minutes, the rabbit dodged them but they only got faster with each passing second. It was not like the rabbit had not suffered injuries. He was covered in scratches. Many of the slashes had grazed him and all of the accumulated damage was starting to make it hard for the rabbit to dodge. The rabbit, with no choice left, activated his Berserk skill. With the activation, a faint red light enveloped the rabbit. This was an effect of Berserk. The Berserk skill could let the user gain an explosive amount of power in exchange of some of the person''s reasoning. This skill was a risky but effective skill and was a skill that only special bulk rabbits could gain. However, this skill was completely useless against Ludius. The moment when the rabbit had changed its target from Ludius to the elemental swords, it had lost. While it was distracted, Ludius had once again merged with his surroundings. He waited for the right opportunity to strike and when the bulk rabbit started activating its skill, Ludius rushed out of the foliage and slashed it at one of its open wounds, and activated his poison magic. He used the hybrid poison claw to deal damage to it. When the rabbit saw him, he lost his last sliver of reasoning and tried to rampage and kick Ludius away from him. Ludius dodged the attacks and had the swords attack the bulk rabbit once again. The bulk rabbit could not react on time and had swords impale him. However, as Ludius was starting to get low on M.P., he cancelled the spell which gave the elemental swords their form. As soon as that happened, the swords dispersed in the air, leaving only an injured bulk rabbit. The bulk rabbit tried to attack Ludius again but was not able to move. This was due to using Paralyzing Poison Generation of the Poison magic. Now the bulk rabbit was completely defenseless and was at the mercy of Ludius. Ludius approached the bulk rabbit and bit his fangs into its body and released poison. Without being able to resist, the bulk rabbit died after a short while. With this Ludius had secured himself food. Just as he thought of cooking the food with fire magic, various windows popped up in front of him. They were: CONGRATULATIONS You have gained 4 levels and 8 Racial Levels. Due to the fight with an enemy stronger than you, you have gained a lot of experience. Mana Manipulation Lvl 7 The skill to manipulate mana at will. It allows you to inhibit the activation of a spell. It can also allow a person to overload a magic sequence. He had already gotten used to these unexpected windows. Ludius was also overjoyed when he found out that he had leveled up. He had at least wanted one level for defeating such a strong rabbit. "It was lucky that, the rabbit was a dunce, or else I might have already died." thought Ludius, as he used fire magic on the rabbit''s corpse. At that moment, he felt dizzy. He remembered that he had been forcing himself to wake up. Even his body felt heavy. This was due to using Ambition while his body was heavily damaged. Like that he dropped on the ground and fell asleep. All the beasts that came near the fox were all scared by the big corpse behind him, so none of them attacked him. He did not know it himself, but the rabbit''s cries of anguish had traveled all the way to the edge of the forest, to a small village. All the beings that were living who heard it were filled with fear. For four days, no being had stepped in another''s territory. The reason for this was obvious. The bulk rabbit that Ludius had fought had been the ruler of the center of the forest. To back that title, it had the War God''s blessings and its own unique ability and skill, which granted him big boosts in strength and speed. By no means, was it weaker than the wyverns of the edge of the forest. And yet, the denizens of the forest heard a cry filled with anguish. A cry that closely resembled the bulk rabbit''s war cry. It made all of them vigilant. They put up their guard to max. Even the humans of the village were disturbed when they heard the cry. They wanted to search for the cause of the noise, but could not do so as the noise had come from the Mystic Forest. It was a dangerous place, even for the experienced people so they could not confirm. -+++++- At the same time, in a higher plane, the Gods were making a commotion. The reason was that a level 1 mystic fox had defeated a level 25 bulk rabbit. Putting the race aside, there should not have been a chance to win for Ludius. Yet, the little fox pulled off a miracle. No, it was more like a well thought-out strategy. The fox was clearly on a different level than the rabbit. In the midst of the Gods, who were conversing, Oldrin was sitting on a majestic chair and looking at the sleeping fox. The face of the fox was truly a cute and lovable face. However, his deeds were the complete opposite. He turned out to be too rational for Oldrin''s taste. His battle instincts were good, but he lacked sympathy. Oldrin then looked for a solution through his mind, and came to a ridiculous conclusion. "That''s right! He just needs a master." Oldrin thought to himself. "My, I really am getting better at coming up with solutions." Chapter 2: Oldrins Folly Hello everyone! Today I got some free time so I am uploading this chapter. Anyways, if you all think that the prologue one was too long, then please tell me. I will try not to make the same mistake. Anyways, a friend of mine told me that it was too long, so I shortened Chapter 1. All that aside, like always, I would like to request all of you who are reading it, to tell me if you find something too boring. After all, I just started writing stories. Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this chapter. This chapter is about the birth of Ludius'' companion.
Oldrin teleported to the village at the edge of the Mystic Forest. He looked around and thought about the last time he had gone to a human settlement. When he came near the house of the village chief, he heard an infant''s cry. It had already become night so it was easy to not notice Oldrin. Still, to not draw attention towards himself, he changed his clothes to that of a priest and then knocked on the door of the village''s chief. The village''s chief came out at the door. He was a tall and well-built man. His age seemed to be around the mid-40''s. He had dark brown hair and beard, and had dark hazel eyes. His clothing was not too flashy, but was not shabby at the same time. Anybody could tell that his clothes were made of bear leather. He asked in a polite tone, "Who might you be, kind sir?" Oldrin replied, "May the Gods bless you, son. I am a traveling priest. I have traveled far and wide and am now trying to find a place to stay. At that moment, I heard the cry of a new born. I would like to stay in your house for the night. I will be forever grateful to you, if you allow me to stay." The village''s chief was a pious man, so he agreed to Oldrin''s request at the condition that Oldrin had to baptize the baby. In this world, a religion similar to a religion in Ludius'' old world had taken a strong root in Aeon. That religion had many priests under it. The religion was followed by many humans of Aeon. It was called Cazarity. Oldrin agreed and entered their house. It was a cozy house and seemed to be filled with many happy memories. When he reached the living room of the house, he saw an infant in the arms of a blonde haired middle-aged woman. Though, her face had wrinkles, she could still be called a beauty. The baby in her arms was sleeping peacefully. Oldrin asked the village chief, who introduced himself as Arnold, if the baby was a boy or a girl. Arnold replied, "The baby is a girl. Is there a reason for asking such a question, sir priest?" At his question, he told him a fake story. The story went as follows: Oldrin was wandering around near the Mystic Forest when he felt an ominous aura from that place. When he came near it, he heard the cry of a bulk rabbit and was startled. As he felt that the being with the ominous aura was dangerous, he came to this village, just to check if it had come here. And as he was nearing the village, he met an old fortune-teller, and she told him to find a girl born to in this village, to a family in which, the man who wears clothes made of bearskin. Arnold was astounded at the story even though most people would not have been fooled by it. He asked if there was a reason for doing such a thing, and not calling the Cazarity Church''s Templars. Oldrin replied by saying, "I do not think the Templars will be able to do a thing to that beast. Our only hope is to believe the fortune-teller''s words." Oldrin said that so dramatically that it seemed stupid. Yet, Arnold believed him. He talked to his wife and they agreed to have her protect the village from the beast when it comes. This was due to Oldrin saying that the first human target might be Arnold''s village. After they ate dinner and had some more chat they all turned into their beds. All, except Oldrin. He went to the room where the baby was kept. It was a room which could only be accessed through the room of Arnold and his wife. Oldrin entered the room by passing though the wall. He did not walk but floated in the air. He did not want to disturb Arnold and his wife''s sleep. When he looked at the small infant in the cradle, he could not help but sigh at the sight. He was going to change the life of the small baby just for his own selfish wishes. It was as if he was the demon. The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. However when Oldrin was starting to feel melancholic, he felt a gaze upon him. He looked and saw that the baby had woken up. But was not making an expression of fear, but that of happiness. At that moment, something lit up within Oldrin. He felt that this would be for the best and bestowed various blessings upon her and gave her skills and abilities which were on par with what he had given Ludius. -+++++- The next morning, Oldrin conducted the baptism of the little infant. On that day, the infant was named Elia. She was also foretold to be the one to be the one that would save the village and the one who would gain the recognition of a powerful magical beast. After the baptism, Arnold held a party to celebrate the birth of his daughter. However, when he went to call for Oldrin, he was not there. It was like he had not even come to the village as there was no trace of him. The only thing that could prove that he came to the village was the name given to the infant. Arnold held the party while wondering who was the priest. -+++++- "And so, you went ahead and gave her numerous skills and abilities, right?" The one, who asked the question telepathically, was Ludius. He was sitting and eating the bulk rabbit he had killed some days ago. The one to whom he asked the question was Oldrin. He had come to him to tell him about the girl, but he started feeling an unpleasant glare from Ludius. Suddenly, Ludius created elemental swords and shot them towards Oldrin. Oldrin let out a weird cry "Gyaaaaaah!" and started dodging the magic swords. Ludius shouted, "Were you nuts? You just did the worst thing anybody could do! I was planning on going on a journey to find dragons! Why did you have to go ahead and ruin it?" He was telling the truth as well. He wanted to learn about dragons and get a pet dragon. However, before that happened, Oldrin had already turned him into a pet of some random village girl. He was erupting with anger. After that, Oldrin apologized while Ludius threw blades upon blades towards Oldrin. Without knowing his skill rose by one level. After Ludius calmed down, he sighed and said, "Fine. I will agree to be a pet. However, I have some conditions¡" After that Oldrin could only reluctantly agree to Ludius'' conditions. He was getting the short end of the stick, but it could not be helped. As he was starting to nod involuntarily. Ludius asked, "What is the name of the girl that I have to help? You never told me that." Oldrin opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He had forgotten the name of the infant. He was trying to find words, when Ludius abruptly asked, "You forgot her name didn''t you?" Sweat trickled from Oldrin''s forehead. It was an amusing scene. The one who managed the worlds was cowering in front of a little fox. Afterwards, the forest was filled with the screams of an old man. -+++++- Ludius was in an unpleasant mood. The Supreme God, Oldrin, brought about this mood. It was going to become harder for him to complete his objectives. At that moment, a thought struck him so he asked Oldrin telepathically, who was lying on the ground panting, "So what will you do about this evil creature that will supposedly come from this forest?" When asked Oldrin gave a simple reply, "I will create a dragon strong enough to destroy that town therefore do not worry about it." It seemed that Oldrin was filled with confidence, whereas Ludius was dumbstruck. Only one thought remained. It was, "Why did I jump from the level 1 boss to level 100 boss?" Oldrin then happily bid Ludius ''Good-bye'' and once again vanished. Ludius thought to himself, "That Supreme God must have a few screws loose in his head." Chapter 3: The Little Guide Hello Everyone! Sorry for posting late. I was caught in a pile of work an dam doing this one right now. It seems that I will have a lot of time two days from now, so I will try to post more chapters to the story on that time. Anyways, I did not get to recheck this one, so I apologize in advance if the chapter is bad.
After Oldrin left, Ludius quickly ate the meat and then put the rest of the bulk rabbit corpse in a black sphere. The black sphere was a special magic he created using Astral Magic. The black sphere was the ''Otherworldly Storage Sphere''. It was called O.S.S for short. He gained the skill itself but did not check it correctly. He wandered around and found some creature that had the body of a lion and the head of a goat. By using Appraisal he found out that the creature was called ''El Tirado'' and its level was 40. He was starting to ask himself whether he was still in an easy difficulty forest or not. Like that he started his hunt. He faced many creatures. All were above level 10. Some even exceeded level 50. However, due to having a better brain than the other creatures, he was able to somehow, defeat them. The hardest ones were the ones that had better intelligence. Yet, Ludius was not a normal mystic fox. He had the knowledge of a human and was able to easily deceive the other magical beasts. His level rose exponentially and he was granted a chance to evolve , but he did not choose to evolve at such an early stage. Leveling like that, his level reached 50 at sunset. His stats also increased exponentially. His stats had already gone beyond the limits of a normal mystic fox youngling which was 500. He checked his stat window again for the last time before going to sleep in a clearing. He searched everywhere and found a group of lizard like creatures. Their stats were on par with him, but they all were clustered in one same spot, which made it easy for him to defeat them, or so he thought. He quietly crept close to them and used Elemental Barrage to defeat them. However, they did not die instantly. They were covered in wounds but were not dead. After the barrage of elemental attacks were finished, the lizards started shooting fireballs at Ludius. The true identity of these lizards was Salamander. They were still young but had unrivaled power when compared to the magical beasts near the edges of the forest. Seeing that they were not dead, Ludius felt amused. He dodged the fireballs and activated all the strengthening skills. Then, he used his speed to confuse them. He also used illusion magic to get a better result. The illusion magic was a magic that did not need a skill level as it only depended on the user''s intelligence, wisdom, and luck stat. It did not become stronger when the level increased, so it was considered as an ability. Using this magic he created multiple clones of himself. He had no reason to go easy on them so he used his special skills as well. The salamanders were confused by the illusions and started firing their fireballs aimlessly. During this time, Ludius crept up to them and then used Elemental Extremity. Elemental Extremity was a skill that forcefully increased the magic sequence compensation in the space around the user. It increased it so much that only those, who had a good grasp of magic, could use their magic in the affected area. Those who did not have a good grasp would fall unconscious and all the mana in their body would be dispersed into the surroundings. This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source. The salamanders, which did not have a good understanding of magic, fell unconscious and in that moment, their lives had been forfeited. After the fight he hurriedly put their bodies in the O.S.S and started searching for other creatures. He met many creatures that he had defeated, but did not bother to kill them. He only wanted to defeat one creature per species if there was no need. He found many new creatures when he traveled to the edge of the forest. There were creatures that looked like birds but were bigger and looked far more stronger than normal birds. There were also wyverns of different colors. He defeated them and leveled up many times. He was starting to get bored, so he started killing indiscriminately. When he reached level 100, he gained a new evolution choice. It was the one with the biggest difference in stats when compared to the other evolution choices. Yet, he did not choose that evolution. He made up his mind that he would only evolve when he reaches the level limit, so he persevered. A year passed by, and the northern part of the Dragon Forest was completely covered in silence. Ludius had moved to that place and started to kill the monster living there. He did kill in moderation, fearing that they might go extinct. His level exceeded 150 and stats were far beyond the amount that he started with. The creatures of the northern Dragon forest feared him and some migrated to the center of the forest. The reason Ludius decided to stay in the northern part was that the village where the girl lived was near that part of the forest. He slept in a hollow tree trunk at the edge of the forest. He often saw many humans going into the forest but coming out dejectedly. All the humans that came had good muscular builds or had an air of experience around them. He named these kinds of people as adventurers. Luckily for him, they did not try to hurt him. It seemed to him that the mystic fox race had been friendly with humans from the start. He lived there for about four years, and had reached the level limit which was 200. His stats were all above 5000 and his wisdom stat had reached 50000, for some reason. He had played with some adventurers and even helped them find herbs in the forest. Little did he know, that he had become a topic of discussion among the adventurers. He was called the ''Little Guide'' and the ''Fox Helper''. Many adventurers went to the Mystic Forest just to see him. Due to this, some adventurers even tried to capture him, but they were never heard from ever again. Some months passed by and Ludius lazily spent his time. Suddenly, he heard a scream. He could already guess a hero-like cliche developing at that moment. He rushed towards the place and surveyed the surroundings. There were about a 100 goblins in that place. Though they were easy-to-kill type of demons for adventurers, the people fending them off were definitely not adventurers. They looked like villagers with the exception of some armored people. At the front of the humans a male villager had been impaled by many goblins. He was then, torched by flames cast by some goblin mages. "Looks like, he was ''fired'' today." Ludius thought to himself. He then looked at the remaining humans. They were all battered and many of them had the look of despair on their faces. At the place, farthest from the goblins a girl was crying and calling out ''Father!'' It seemed like the person who was killed was her father. He looked around again and saw an interesting individual. It was the Goblin King. He wore a cape made of leather and an iron armor. He held a big, glowing sword in his hand and was laughing loudly. His face was a little more human-like than the other goblins, which made him look more evil. He already knew the outcome but still checked the status of the people around him to check. He did not check to see whether he could win against the goblins or not. He checked it so that he could hold a memorial for the humans fighting against the Goblin King. He could easily eliminate the goblins, but he was not so sure about the Goblin King. It was an existence that was supposed to be stronger than an average human being. At that moment, his mouth literally dropped open. This was due to three reasons. The first reason was that the humans'' and the goblins'' stats made them look pitifully weak. The second reason was that the human who had been cremated was still alive, but only barely. The third reason was the status he saw of the girl who was crying. It was the fact that the girl, whose name was Elia, was the one that was chosen by Oldrin. It might have been due to this reason that he was starting to feel uneasy. "For now." Ludius thought. "Let''s just watch how this battle plays out during the climax." Chapter 4: The Meeting For Real Hi everyone! I am uploading this one right now and will try to answer some questions tomorrow, so if you have any questions, please put them in this chapter''s comment. I got one question and will answer that as well. Right now, I suddenly got a lot of work so I have to hurry. (P.S. This one might be shorter than the other chapters, so I would like to apologize.)
Elia was just a normal girl. That was at least what she thought about herself. She was actually the daughter of Arnold, the village chief of the Wyvernian Village, and Chloe, his wife. They both were caring parents and always helped her during troublesome times. She did not know how, but she was able to understand everything faster than the others. However, she was not really lucky, as many of the other children thought of her as weird. Most of them were girls who were of the same age. Then she met the old man, Oldrin. He was like a second father and a friend at the same time, to her. He talked to her normally and also scolded her if he heard about her doing something wrong. She did not know how he learned about the incidents as nobody in the village knew him, but she did not care about that. She was happy as Oldrin also shared his stories and experiences. In many of them, he always talked about a fox. He would then, end the story with a warning, "Do not ever anger a little fox." This warning was then deeply ingrained in the little Elia''s mind. After a few months, Oldrin stopped visiting her. However, on her birthday, instead of him, some people who called themselves the ''Knights of the Church'', came at their house. When she first saw them, she was scared, but it turned out that her father, Arnold, called them. She was then filled in on the details. Apparently, she was destined to defeat a dangerous monster, so to make it easier for her, they were going to clear a path to the forest. It was planned that her father and some of the other villagers would accompany them. Hearing that, she insisted on going with her. When Arnold tried to refuse, she threw a big tantrum. In the end, Arnold had to listen to his daughter''s wishes. That was how they came in the Mystic Forest. From there, everything happened very fast. They were ambushed by goblins and their escape route was cut off. Her father took a blow which was aimed at her and was then put on fire. She cried towards him. The only sound that dominated the area though, was of the Goblins'' Leader''s laughter. He was wearing armor and had a big sword which looked like it was too big for him. Suddenly, a knight who was defending her shouted to her, "Run away from here!" She had no choice but to run away yet she wanted to help the other; to protect the others. Filled with a torrent of emotions, she fled. She heard the Goblins'' Leader say something to his subordinates, but she did not pay any attention to it. She ran as fast as she could and then ended up in a wide clearing. She surveyed her surroundings nervously. However, a voice that spoke directly to her mind made her stiffen. It said, "You idiot. Why did you run away? Well, I guess you were not taught anything to end up in this mess." The voice had no trace of fear or worry. It only had pure irritation. She tried to converse with the person. "Who are you and where are you?" Elia asked. She waited for a response. Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. After some time, a response came. It was the same voice. It said, "My name is Vana Ludius and I am standing right next to you." This time too, the other person was irritated. Elia looked around herself but saw no one except a little black fox. She ignored it and was going to ask the voice again when a thought occurred to her. It was "Whether the voice belonged to the black fox or not?" She tried to dismiss it by shaking her head when the fox hit her head with its paw. It seemed to her that she had been talking to a magic beast; a feat that none could pull off; when suddenly it declared telepathically, "Today is your birthday, right? Well, consider me as a present from that old geezer, Oldrin. Hurrah and whatever you people say to celebrate." Somehow, from her train of thoughts, only one became clear. It was that, the voice was too monotonous for a normal living being. -+++++- Ludius was quite touched when he saw the knight order the girl, Elia to run, however he knew the outcome so he had to do something before Elia became the Goblin King''s toy. Apparently the Goblin King''s name was Gol. He followed Elia who was running as fast as a horse. Once he and the goblins were separated from the goblin horde, he silently killed the goblins one by one. The goblins were so focused on pursuing the girl that they did not notice their own numbers dwindling. When Ludius killed going for the last goblin''s life, it sensed him and countered him by using the short dagger that it was holding. It was good try that the goblin made, however, it was not a mortal wound for Ludius. It only scratched his skin and then the blade of the dagger, broke into two. The goblin was terrified when he saw that his blade had no effect on the fox, and raised a cry for help. Ludius quickly killed him with a normal bite skill. Even if one were to call it normal bite, it had enough strength to destroy a troll''s skull. He had not touched his other skills too much, as they were already too strong to use on normal beings like goblins. Also, though he could use magic, he was not able to do more than shape magic into items or use his knowledge to cause normal scientific phenomena. He followed Elia''s smell and reached a clearing where she was nervously looking around herself. He then called out to her only to find out that she was not literate enough for him to consider her as his master. He did not want to have anything to do with her but as he did not like to break a promise, he reluctantly told her that he was a present from Oldrin. The reason was simple. He knew that Oldrin did no have a shred of intelligence to at least use an alias. However, after some seconds passed she suddenly looked at him and backed away in fear. Ludius had one thought in his mind. "Such a rude person to back away in fear from a cute little fox." he thought.
