《The Paradoxical Dungeon》 Prologue: The Orthodox Reincarnation (?????) "What am I doing here? I was sent out to go get milk then..." *Flashback start* (?????) "OK. mom I''ll be right back need anything else?" (Mom) "No that''s all Adam. Thanks." She says as I turn my back to her (Adam) "Ok ill be right back then." I say as I start to walk out the door. Closing it on my way out I start the short walk towards the corner store, hoping that it is still open. *15 minutes later* (Thug) "Give me everything you have if you want to live." A gruff male voice says from behind me right after I leave the store. (Adam) "Shit, I''m being robbed!" I realize as I spin around to face the man. Behind me I see a man wearing a black sweater and jeans jump back in fear. Not knowing what to do he thrusts the knife forwards straight at me. In a panic, I try to duck out of the way but am too slow and feel a horrible pain in my side. I notice a warm trickle start to flow down my side. Hoping I''m wrong I look down at the knife lodged in my side. (Thug) "I didn''t mean to stab him! Shit shit shit what do I do? O god I got to get out of here!" He says in a panic before trying running away. I looked down at the knife in shock. I grab it when all of a sudden it started to bleed even worse. It was at this moment that I realized I was going to die. With nothing left to lose, I grab the knife and pull. It comes out with unimaginable pain as it rips apart my side. Finally, the rest of it comes out of my side. Looking at the man who stabbed me I know what I need to do. Pulling back my arm I throw the knife at him and watch as it fly''s right at him. I hear a scream before he falls to the ground. Gargling sounds come from him for just a moment before he lays still. I feel satisfaction for just a moment though. Because right after he stops moving I also fall onto the ground. Realizing this is the end for me I start to think back on my life as everything starts to fade. *flashback end* (Adam) "I.. I died? Does that mean this is the afterlife? Nothing but darkness forever? This can''t be it. There must be something else. Right? This must be a test of some sorts. To see how strong of mind we are. There is no way something like this can be the afterlife" My panicking is cut off by a soft feminine voice. (Voice) "For most it is. But you have been given a second chance at life. To be summoned to another world to be a hero and slay the demon lord. All you must do is step forward and accept your destiny." After she says this I once again left alone. The only difference is there is now a white beam of light in front of me. Looking at it closer it doesn''t seem to come from anywhere. Just a beam of light in the darkness. While looking at it quickly decide what I am going to do. With my mind made I step towards the light and see... The thug that stabbed me. Next to him there are three people I never saw before. One is a young girl with blonde pigtails , green eyes, and pale skin. Next to her was an older man with a short black hair, brown eyes and is seems to be very tall. The last person I couldn''t see very well but they seem to be young. Behind them are 5 figures I can make out even thought are right in front of me. Almost as if space itself is distorting their appearance. He says before looking around the room and noticing that there is five of us. A look of confusion appears on his face before he says. (Figure 1) "Well, I guess we just need to send one of them back. But with one to send back." It''s at this point that I feel a gaze fall onto me. (Adam) "Wait don''t send me" is all I can get out before I see a white light all around me. Right as the light starts to intensify. I hear a voice deep male voice that seems to be filled with glee (?????) "You sure are unlucky, aren''t you? About to be given another chance at life only to have it torn away from you. Well how about I bring you to that world instead? Of course, it will be on my terms, not theses washed up gods." (Adam) "Why would you do that?" (?????) "For fun. To see what happens. To spite theses old fools. Many reasons. But I don''t think you have the luxury to worry about that right now." (Adam) "...Do it!" I say in desperation. And with that everything around start to glow even brighter. MP is mana points and is something that is present all around use. LP is life points and is gained by killing living things. Levels are a representation of your strength and go up when you upgraded your dungeon or things die in it. Skills and Titles are just a part of this world. This system just makes them simpler to gain. Not even I Know who made this system. Heroes are summons to fight the demon lords made by the evil gods. There may be a way for you to get back to your own. There are a few high-level skills that let you make a body. Dungeons are life forms that feed on the mana of the world and the life force of other beings to grow in power. They have no purpose but to get stronger. You are a dungeon because whoever reincarnated you made you one.

The grow rate and system transformation of the two of them added together seems to be making you grow at an insane rate. As for the two titles Contradicting. it seems to have some thing to do with that Paradoxical existence title. Remember how it said you are not bound by the laws of this universe. This is probably what it meant.

After looking over the skills I decide to get Mana Sensing, Mana Gathering, Mana Circulation, Mana Activation, and Magic Aptitude. While focusing on the skills, I suddenly feel my energy leave my body. That''s when I see the familiar box.

(Adam) "OK, now that I got all the skills I need I can finally cast spells. I just got to .... What do I do? I never really used any skills yet. The only ones I have I just kind of thought of it and it happened. I never had to do anything. I know! I''ll just use the skills in order." And with that thought, I started to try and sense the Mana around me. At first, nothing happens. But after a while, I start to understand what I need to do and start to think back to all the times I collected mana. The way that the mana felt, like a mist filled with energy. I focus on that feeling and start to look for it. Like before I don''t feel anything at first. But then I start to feel something, I strange haze that seems to be in the air around me. (Adam) "I did it!" I yell out. Before focusing on the haze around me. After a bit, the feeling suddenly gets much stronger, like being surrounded by the same mist as when I gather mana. This energy has a calming warm feeling to it. I get distracted by it, before I finally snap out of it. Next, I start to work on what comes next, but knowing that I absorb mana on my own. I skip right to the next step, circulating my Mana. Not knowing what to do for this step, I start by sensing my own mana and thinking about what to do next. (Adam) "Next step seems to have to with my own mana. To get it ready to be used for spells. But what do I need to do? Maybe it is just what the name says? I guess I should try moving my mana in a circle." With my plan made I start trying to move my internal mana. It is slow at first but it starts to pick up speed as i get used to doing it. But no matter how fast I make it move, nothing seems to happen. So I start to move it in a circle, but this also doesn''t seem to do anything useful. That''s when I have an idea and start to rotate it instead of moving it. As soon as I do this it instantly gets much harder. It''s like I''m trying to move it through syrup. With much effort, I can finally get it to start rotating. As it starts to move faster and faster it gets harder and harder to keep my focus on it. But with lots of effort, I can keep it accelerating. As I hit a point where I can''t make it go any faster I notice that it starting to shrink. Realizing this is the next step. I help it along. Forcing the mana to get closer together. As I force it together I notice the same feeling of resistance as when I started to rotate it. Ignoring this feeling again I keep compressing my mana. As it is getting closer together I notice that it is starting to feel like a liquid more than a gas and this feeling is only getting stronger. It''s at this point that I realize that I don''t know what to do next. My mana has almost completely transformed at this point and I have no idea what to do with it. Pressing aside this fear, I continue what I was doing and start to visualize an arrow made of mana. And as I feel my mana completed transform, I push some of it out of my core while imagining this shape and watch as a blue arrow appears and weakly flies towards a wall. I watch as it disappears as soon as it touches this wall without even leaving a dent. Looking at this, I let my mana go back to normal and start to rethink what I did. (Adam) "Why did this not work? Maybe I just need more practice? No, that''s not the answer. There has to be something wrong with the way I made the arrow. What could it have been? .... Wait, that must be what it is. I put too little mana in it. That must be why it was so weak." Realizing this I get ready to fire another mana arrow. With this new plan in mind. I start getting my mana ready again.

Chapter 4: Learning The Truth After getting my mana ready again, I gather a third of it and instead of moving it, active the energy in it. I then focus this energy into an arrow. (Adam) "I was just practicing magic, why? Did something happen?"
Dungeons are unable to use magic. The gods deemed it too powerful and made it only the seven races and monsters could use it. As for classes, only the seven races can get them. It also takes way more work then what you did to get yours. A class is given to someone who has put years into an activity. Magic is much the same, it would take months to learn magic. Even a genius would take at least a few weeks to learn it on their own.
(Adam) "Isn''t this a good thing? This means I gain strength much faster. Right?"
Were you not listening to what I said? Your power grows too fast. If the gods notice you, They will send their heroes after you before you can gather the strength to stop them.
(Adam) "What are you talking about, they were just summoned. How would they be able to stop me already?"
There is not only four heroes. They are just some of the new ones. You probably think that heroes are warriors of the gods that are summoned to fight when there is a need for them. Right?
(Adam) "Is that not what they are?"
No, they are just pawns that they use to settle arguments between themselves. They will summon heroes and demons lords to a world of their choosing. Then they will let them fight it out till only one side is remaining. Sometimes they will summon just one. Sometimes they will someone teams of them. This time, they are summoning waves of them to this world. Five in total, that will fight till only one side is left. The Gods that summoned that side are the winners.
(Adam) "So I am just some pawn to the Gods then? To help them settle their argument, I am just meant to pick a side and fight for it."
It''s not that simple for you. Since you are both a hero and a demon lord, both sides will be out to kill you. To live you will need to beat both the heroes and the demon lords.
(Adam) "OK, fine then, explain to me the world I''m in"
You are in Astoria, a world governed by magic. The world itself is split into three landmasses: the Central Continent, the Demon Continent, and the Outlands. The Central Continent is the largest and most hospitable of the three and is where the majority of the seven races live. The Demon Continent is smaller scorched land and is where the demons were exiled by the other races. The Outlands is completely black rock and is where things like powerful monster and dragons live. The creatures that live here are split into five categories: The Seven Races, Monster, Dragons, Dungeons, and The Primordial Beings. The seven races are: Humans who are jacks of all traits yet dominate the Central Continent, the dwarfs who are the best craftsmen and keep to themselves in the mountains, Next are the elves who excel in magic and live in forest all over the Central Continent, after them are the beastmen who have animal traits and much stronger physical body, but lack much control over magic, rarer than them are the avian race that lives in the sky and have the ability to fly, the last two are the aquatic races that live under the seas and have a control over water better than most mages, and finally the demons, they are the strongest race in combat with strong mana and physical strength but were defeated by the other races and banished to the now named Demon Continent. After the Seven Races, we have Monsters. Monsters are creatures that live off of mana that comes from a hard central core in their body. These cores are sought after because they can be used to store magic for later use. Because of this, the seven races hunt monsters to use their cores for everything from household use to powering a stronger spell than they can cast at the time. Despite this, there are still many monsters that are stronger than the humans can even imagine the power of them. And it is for this reason that there are still many monsters left all over the world. Modeled after the Ancient Dragons that are as old as them, the gods made this world''s dragons. These creatures are the rulers of the Outlands but some make their home all over the world. Nowadays they spend much of their time resting in their layers. But back when this world was first made they fought neverendingly with each other. Almost destroying this world, before the gods stop them ending their age and letting the other races have a chance at growing. Dungeons are a unique race. Not made by the gods, but an accident in the way they made this world. They are like leeches draining this world of its mana. To fix this, the gods give power to whoever destroys a dungeon or helps to destroy one. After this dungeons were hunted till almost none remain. Now it is rare for them to last even a week before being destroyed. This makes the ones that remain extremely powerful and some of the most dangerous places in this world. The last things are the Primordial Beings. Beings even older than the gods, they take on many forms and are the rarest to be found. They are all different and not even I know if there are any in this world or how to tell when I see one what they are.

(Adam) "Why does my spell say f minus instead of novice next to it? Also, what are jobs?"
The reason that your spells say (F-) but your skills say (Novice) is that you use Mana to upgrade skills but magic can only be improved by training that spell. They are ranked: F,E,D,C,B,A,S,SS,SSS with a + and - to each level. The Jobs are things like Swordsmanship or Blacksmithing, and like spells they must be trained on your own without using the system. What counts as a Job is strange, using a sword or axe is but magic is not. Crafting almost anything is but you won''t gain one for making your dungeon. What they do is show what level of skill you have and reward you for hitting certain milestones. Not that I can see anyway for you to get these because you would need a body.
(Adam) "Is there anything else that I might still be able to get that is not yet in my stats screen?"
The only thing left is stats like strength and agility but you need to have a body to use those, so no there is nothing left for you to gain like this. But there is till many things for you to gain. You may grow fast, but there are still many things that can kill you without any effort.
(Adam) "I know, don''t get overconfident. I am still at my weakest and couldn''t stop anything right now."
You are right about this. So what do you plane to do about it?
(Adam) "I will build up my dungeon till I''m so strong that not even the gods can stop me! I will not just be a pawn to them! I will stand above everything in this world!" And with that, I start to use my ability and focus on absorbing the mana around me. Not even stopping when I notice a box pop-up and just will it to go away without looking at it.

(Authers notes) I noticed that the story was kind of slow. But do not worry, it will be picking up from here. Also thanks to everyone who has read and commented on my story. Chapter 5: Dungeon Building After gathering Mana for a bit I realized that I could draw in about 1 Mana Point every five minutes. Because of this, it took me under fifteen hours to gather 250 Mana. After checking that I have the amount I think I do, I start to put my plan into action. The first thing I do is expand my dungeon by four more rooms in a line with the two I already have. Making my total rooms six, all of them in a straight line. Next, I fire a Mana Arrow at the bug I noticed in the bush in the room next to my core, killing it and the bush. As soon as they die I feel a new kind of energy enter me. Looking at my stats I confirm that I now have 5 Life Points. Satisfied with this outcome I open my Edit Monster skill. As soon as I do, I see a blue screen with a large box in the middle, The monsters I have killed to the right, And a Mana and Life Point cost in the top left. By focusing on the two things I have killed up to this point, I can tell that the grass was actually a young berry plant and the bug was a type of beetle. Knowing I don''t have much Life Points I only make two types of beetles. One that lays eggs about once an hour and has a life span of weeks, and one that has a life span of hours and brings food to the queen. This way they are always dying getting me Life Points without me doing anything. After I was done making them I lost 20 Mana for making them and it took 5 Life points to summon them in. As soon as I did summon them the worker went over and started to bring back parts of the plant I killed. After watching it for a bit I went back to work on my dungeon. The next thing I did was buy the trap skill and the upgrade trap skill for a total of ten Mana. After purchasing them I was able to make five types of traps. The first was pitfall trap that made the floor under it cave in to reveal spikes below it and costs 10 MP. The next is a similar trap where the spikes fall down from the roof instead and cost 15 MP. The one after that is a thin wire that when pulled fires an arrow from a hole in the wall and cost 10 MP plus 1 MP per arrow. The second last one fills a room with poison gas when activated and cost 25 MP. The last one is similar to the third but is a much smaller dart that has paralysis poison on it and cost 20 MP and 5 MP per arrow. After looking over what I can get I realize that these traps were most likely made for hallways and I will need to spend another 5 MP to unlock them and 5 more to place the hallway. But knowing I have to do it I buy the hallway And learn that they are 2 meters tall, 1 meters wide, and 15 meters long and can take any shape I want. After buying one that connects to the last room from my core and goes ten meters before turning and going five more. Sensing that the edge of whatever I''m in is right at the end of the hallway, I start to place traps. The first thing I do is place a pitfall right at the start of the hallway so that as soon as they enter they will set it off. After that, I put I an arrow trap that fires right at the small edge that is created to get past the pitfall trap. After that, I leave the hallway empty till the corner, where I put another pitfall trap and pay 5 Mana to upgrade it to level 1. Making it harder to see and making the spikes harder and sharper. After this, I start to talk to the AI again (Adam) "Is there a way to upgrade rooms to make them stronger?"
Yes, the upgrade walls skill makes walls stronger. Also the floor and roof count as walls as well.
(Adam) "Thanks" Knowing this I buy the skill for 5 more Mana and upgrade the walls of every room I have for 1 Mana each. Costing me a total of 42 mana. I then upgrade them again, this time costing me 84 mana. To do this I had to go to every wall one at a time and focus on upgrading it. I then had to go again to upgrade them the second time. This process took so long that by the time I was done I had gathered 20 more Mana and had gotten 2 Life point from a beetle dying. But with this finally out of the way, I move onto creating the creatures that will defend my dungeon. The beetles that I made were obviously just to get LP when I had none and will serve no purpose in the future. I will need something that is strong and able to defend me from whatever may enter my dungeon trying to kill me. With this in mind I now I only have beetles to use, so I need to be smart. Reopening my menu I start working on something new. The first thing I do is make the beetle larger. Much larger. 1 meter long and 25 centimeters tall to be exact. The next thing I did was make their exoskeleton much harder than before. Hopefully, strong enough to block a sword strike. I then moved onto their muscles. I made them much denser and more efficient than before. With these two things, they should be able to fight an average person. But just to be safe I make it so that their pincers on the front are much stronger then they would be even with their muscle density. By the time that they are done it cost me 99 Mana to make them and 15 LP for every worker I summon in and 25 LP for every queen I summon in. The good part is that since they are stronger there magic core is able to keep them alive without the need for food. I also made so that they are capable of thought and made them live they make warring clans that try to gain territory from each other. The last thing is that since they live off their magic core they have an infinite life span and don''t die of diseases. Since I still need more Mana before I can finish the design, I decided to watch what the beetles are doing. When I look in the room I left them in I notice that they are already at their third generation and the second which has about 20 members look likes it''s about to die off. I also notice that they are now out of food but still are looking everywhere for more food. That''s when the second generation starts to die and the third swarms them to be used as food for themselves. As I get 42 Life points I watch as the beetles rush in and start to eat their dead elders. I then watch as they start fighting and killing each other for whatever they can get. Killing and eating each other for food. I watch stunned as I get 38 Life Points, as the only three beetles are left alive start to bring food to the queen. Not knowing what to do about it I just leave. But right before I leave, I see them get ready to fight again as I gain 4 more Life points. Staring at my core I felt sick as I start to think. (Adam) "They may have just been bugs, but I have never seen anything like that. I should have expected this. I made it so that they would do whatever it takes to gather food for the queen and stay alive long enough to do that. eating each other fits into that. Besides, I was planning on killing people. This shouldn''t even faze me. Maybe I was just too naive in the way I was thinking. No, I need to do this if I want to live I need to kill everyone that comes into my dungeon. I have to get used to this kind of thing." As I make up my mind to keep going with the plan I feel Mana finally enter me. Using this I complete the creation of my new race of beetles and start to gather mana till I have five and go to the room where I keep my old beetles. Knowing what I have to do I start to circulate my mana for the first time in a while. Once it is ready I fire a mana spear at the queen killing it and gaining three more life points. Looking at the last beetle, it starts to run around in a panic not knowing what to do. Ignoring it I move to the room next to my core and summon the first new beetle queen and worker in it. And since they don''t need any food as long I there is enough mana they won''t die. I then move over to the room next to the hall and put the other beetles in it. With almost no resources left I open the entrants to my dungeon and start to wait when I notice a blue box just appeared.

(Authers notes) I''m thinking of naming the blue box finally. But since I am horrible at names, does anyone have an idea for it? Bonus Chapter 1: New Dungeon (?????) "Hey, boss. Are you certain we can take on this dungeon? It may be young but it is still a dungeon. (Boss) "Relax Jon. You are ranked F plus and we got four F ranks with us. Besides this is a new dungeon, at worst it might have a couple of goblins in it. And you know what happens if we are able to destroy it. (Jon) "That''s true. With the blessing we get from this, we might be able to jump right up to D rank. So where is this dungeon?" (Boss) "The villagers told me that it was in the mountains North of the village. They found it when they were hunting in the mountain. They haven''t even entered it yet. It is the perfect opportunity. (Jon) "OK, where are these people we will be working with then?" As I ask this he motions for me to follow and starts to walk to the center of the village. One we reach the center of the village, I see four people waiting for us. One is a tall man with twin swords strapped to his hip and is wearing leather armor. Beside him is a tall girl with a large bow on her back with a quiver of arrow below it. On the other side of the tall man is another shorter man with robes and a staff in hand. He is Obviously a low-level mage who is still in training. The last person has his face covered by a black robe and only has a dagger on him. Obviously, just some fool trying to look cool in front of others. While I''m looking them over the boss starts to speak. (Boss) "We will be entering a new dungeon in hopes of conquering it. To do this we must work as a team to try and get through it without losing anyone. But remember this is still a dungeon. Even if it is low level, you must still be careful and not be greedy. If you can do this, we can get conquer it. Now, does anyone have any questions before we enter the dungeon." After he asks this the man with the twin swords speaks (Adventure 1) "Why should I work with you? I can just conquer it on my own and get all the rewards to myself." (Boss) "Because if we don''t conquer it right now the empire will learn of it and we will lose any chance of ever getting the rewards for ourselves." After that, he doesn''t speak up again but the man dressed as a mage does. (Adventure 3) "Why should I do what you say? You ain''t more important than me." (Boss) "As I''m the only E rank adventurer in this party, it just makes sense that I am the leader." (Adventure 3) "SO WHAT?! You think that being rank high is all that matters? That you more important?" Listening to the way he talks I understand why he is so low level despite knowing magic. While thinking this I step in for the boss. (Jon) "Calm down. He was just saying that since he has more experience he should be the one in charge of us. If you have a problem with that you can leave. As for me, I''m going to the dungeon." And with that, I start to walk towards the dungeon with boss as the rest start to follow behind us. *5 hours later* We finally arrive at the dungeon as the sun is starting to set and decided to take a rest before we enter the dungeon. As we are about to enter the dungeon the mage runs ahead of us saying that he is going to be the strongest and beat the dungeon. As soon as he hits the entrance the dungeon, the ground under him falls away to reveal a pitfall. The man screams before he hits the bottom making a squelching sound as he is impaled by the spikes and stops making any sound. We walk over to the edge to see a sickening sight. He was impaled by around 10 spikes all over his body, one even pierced his face giving him no chance at living. While looking down at him I hear the man dressed in black starting to panic as the girl with the bow is trying not to cry. (Boss) "Calm down everyone. This is because he ran in without paying attention to what he was doing. If we are just more careful with what we do, we can live through this." This book is hosted on another platform. Read the official version and support the author''s work. (Adventure 1) "Please. It''s just because that fool ran in without paying any attention to what he was doing. There is clearly an edge that we can walk on to the right. If he has not charged in we could have found it." He says as he starts to walk along the edge. As soon as he is about half way across it, I see an arrow fly right at him hitting him in his chest. The shock of this makes him lose his footing and fall into the pit. We simply stare in shock as two people have died and we have barely entered the dungeon yet. It''s at this point that the man in black robes finally freaks out (Adventure 4) "What is going on? I thought that this was an easy dungeon. I don''t want to die." He says before running back in the direction of the town. It is at this point that the boss asks the girl if she still wants to enter expecting her to say no. But she says (Adventure 2) "In my family, if you want to inherit your parents legacy, you must conquer a dungeon before the age of 20. I have to keep going." After saying that see grips her bow and faces the dungeon. After hearing this the boss shrugs his shoulders, holds up his large sword and start to walk across the ledge. Once he gets to the end, he waits with his sword up so we can get across without any worry of being hit. Seeing this I tell her to start walking and start to go across the ledge. When I am half way across I see boss swing his sword and hit the arrow that was just fired at me. Knowing that it is safe now I walk to the other side and thank the boss for saving me. As soon as the girl gets across the gap we start to walk with the boss right behind us. Noticing how short the hallway we are in is we start to speed up when I fell the boss grab my shoulder and yells out to stop. He was too late though as the girl who''s name I still don''t know falls into the second pitfall. Dying faster than she can scream. I swallow as it is just me and the boss now. (Jon) "How have three people died in the first hallway? I thought that young dungeons were weak?" (Boss) "They are. I think that the village lied to us about the age of this dungeon. They may have some kind of deal with it to send adventures to it for protection or something. Whatever it is after we conquer this dungeon we need to investigate that village" (Jon) "We are still going to try and conquer this dungeon?" (Boss) "Ya. They might have lied about the age but it still has to be relatively new or the empire would have already destroyed it. That means it can only be so strong. So stay behind me and be very careful. I don''t want to lose you to this dungeon." (Jon) "OK, boss" And with that conversation over, we carefully go around the edge of the hallway to not fall into the pitfall. After getting around it, we carefully go down the hallway looking for any more traps. Once we reach the first room we notice that there is something glittering in the distance. Looking at it carefully we can tell that it is the dungeon core. I take I step forwards when I notice something move. Looking at what it was, a giant bug jumps at me. I think I''m going to die when the boss swings his sword at it, hitting it away from me. He runs at it will yelling (Boss) "Get to the core. If you can destroy it all the monsters in the dungeon will die. Quickly I can only fight this thing for so long." As I hear this I only hesitate for a moment before I run towards the core. Running through three rooms I''m almost at the core when I see something move in the room I''m in. Knowing that there is nothing left for me to do I draw my sword in a futile attempt to fight back as I hear the boss scream out from behind me. (Auther notes) Thanks for rading this chapter. They next one will tell this story from Adam''s point of view and finally give the AI a name. Chapter 6: First Invaders I was waiting in my core when I noticed something. People were gathering at the entrance of my dungeon. It seemed to be a group of hunters as they were armed with bows and had the carcass of an animal that looked like a deer with a single horn on it. I watched them take out a strange stone that was glowing a red color. The one that was holding the stone moved it away from the entrance of my dungeon. As he did this it started to lose it''s glow more and more the further he brought it from me. As I watched him do this I noticed that the people around him were scared. It was at this point that the people around him started to speak in a strange language I have never heard before. It sounded, unlike anything I have ever heard before and had lots of sounds like clicking. While trying to understand what they are saying I notice a blue box pop up.

(Adam) "There is a skill for that"
There is a skill for pretty much everything. Tho normally you are supposed to spend the points you gain when you level up. Not mana that you collect every
(Adam) "That is true, well can you pull that skill up for me"

I stop as I remember that there are people right outside my dungeon I spend most of the Mana I have left from waiting for people to find my dungeon to learn the language that they are speaking. After learning it I start to understand random parts of what they are saying. (Group of hunters) "Dungeon draw empire.... Stay in village.... Six.... Get help.... Destroy.... Keep empire away." And with that, they all nod their heads and start to leave. (Adam) "So they are probably going to get help to destroy me. This is the perfect opportunity to test out my dungeon on whoever comes after me. Hopefully whoever they get is weak enough that I can still deal with them. Anyway, might as well wait for them to come after me." And with this thought, I started to wait for whoever was coming after me. And after just a couple of hours, I see some people in armor and robes walking towards me. Once they reach the entrance to my cave I see them sit and start to take a rest. I watch them waiting for them to do something as they just sit there. I''m watching them waiting for them to do something when one of them gets up, screams something and start to run towards me. As soon as he gets to the entrance the ground falls out under him. I watch as he screams as he falls down to the spikes below. It is at this moment that I suddenly fell Life Points poor into me. Way more then I have ever gotten before. Probably around 50 just for killing one human. Knowing this, I now understand why dungeons would want to let things into them. This was also why I decided that I would not let a single human out alive. I would harvest all of them. After deciding this I wait to see what else these humans do to try and get through my dungeon. That was when I noticed that the tallest one out of the group starts to go along the edge. He makes it to the halfway point when an arrow hits him and he falls right into the pit next to his friend. feeling more Life Points enter me, I notice that one of the humans was starting to run away. Worried that they are going to leave I watch the remaining three have a small talk before they enter my dungeon again. This time the one with the large sword walks in holding his sword in front of him and blocking the arrows letting the other people in. Is this really all that these humans can do. They are way to weak to even think about coming in here. While I''m having this thought I see that they have found my first monster. Though they don''t notice the queen that has hidden in the back corner of the room. I watch as the beetle jumps at them and the one with the large sword swings at it. Knocking it to the side as the other one starts to run towards my core. Ignoring him I watch the larger man. I spend some time judging him before the fight starts. He seems to be stronger than the rest. But he is still too weak to even leave a scratch on the beetle''s exoskeleton. I watch as he swings his sword down in a vain attempt to save his own life. I watch as the sword swings down and sinks a couple of millimeters into the beetle. (Adam) "That''s not possible. There is no way that he is strong enough to harm it. It must be that weapon he is using. After he dies I need to check it out." With that thought out of the way I look back at the fight. He is doing better than I thought he would. There seems to be three wounds on the beetle at this point. But as I''m thinking this he backs into the queen and looks back at it. As soon as he sees it he screams, giving the worker beetle a chance to attack him. Not wasting this chance, it grabs him with its pincers and start to crush him. He starts screaming more and more as he is slowly being killed. Ignoring him I look over to the other human. He is running right at my core and the pitfall in front of it. But before he falls into it, he sees the other beetle and starts to fight with it. Right as he is about to though he hears the screams of his friend and hesitates. At this moment the other beetle runs at him killing him almost instantly with his pincers. At this point, I feel the life points of them enter me at almost the same time. And as soon as they do I also felt everything in my dungeon that they brought in disappear. Even the man that I just watch die disappeared and was turned into mana. Confused by this I asked what happened.
If there are no living things or one hour after it died. Anything you did not place in your dungeon and anything it had on it is turned into mana for you to use. Though most of it, this time, came from that sword. It was probably at least D rank.
I thank Saphire and start to plan the upgrades I am going to do to my dungeon. I''m just about to start when one of my monsters start to glow.

(Authers notes) Sorry about the cliff ending. Also, the things he gained from this fight like levels will be given to him next chapter. Chapter 7: Monster Evolution I stare at the glowing monster and mutter. (Adam) "What is happening?"
It is trying to evolve. When a monster kills something it absorbs some of its life force, what you call life points. It then stores them till it has enough to evolve. The reason that it is just glowing is because it doesn''t have a form to evolve into. Normally this can''t happen but since it is part of your dungeon, you need to make the form it evolves into.
(Adam) "Why do they evolve? Can''t I just make them in their evolved form straight away?"
It is just a natural part of monsters. It also gives your monsters that live through a fight a chance at getting stronger. This along with named monsters and boss monster let dungeons have monsters that are stronger than the rest to guard the end of floors and your dungeon core.
(Adam) "So I can also make named monsters and boss monsters?"
Yes. A boss monster is much stronger and comes back on its own if it has been killed but is bound to a room and can''t leave. A named monster is much the same but it can wander around the dungeon and needs to be given life points to bring it back. Also named monsters are able to start learning to speak, follow complex orders and other things along these lines.
(Adam) "So how do I name I monster?" I ask as I pull up the monster editor menu.
All you have to do is give it a name. After this, you will be asked if you want to name it and told how much it will cost.
(Adam) "That''s very easy," I say as I start to make it''s exoskeleton stronger. After noticing that Saphire is not saying anything to me. I start to focus more on how I will improve the beetle. Since the exoskeleton is already reinforced, I start to work on its muscles. Making them much stronger without using any more energy than is needed. After I''m done this I start to try and think of something that will make these beetle special. Something that it alone can use. While trying to thnk something up I suddenly get an idea for what I can give it. With my new idea in mind, I start to look at how the monster core works. After studying it for a bit, I now understand how it works. It draws in Mana from the environment around it and stores it for it to use later. It also uses this energy to keep itself alive, but only a small fraction of it is used for this purpose. Because of this, it is able to draw on this energy when it needs it. Now knowing how it works, I start to implement my idea. The first thing I do is make it much less conductive for electricity while its pincers become way more conductive. Next, I make it so that by drawing on the energy it has stored it can send electricity through its pincers. Lastly, I give it small but sharp spikes along its pincers. These let it get the electricity get right to its prays muscles. Hopefully paralyzing them. After doing all these adjustments, I let the beetle evolve. As I decide that I''m finished the light around him grows brighter then vanishes. Leaving only the new beetle. Looking at it I say. (Adam) "I name you Bolt"

After giving the monster it''s name I start to work on the dungeon. The first thing I do is move my core to the hallway that connects to the entrance. Next, I tell all the beetle to come to me. After this, I buy the room destroy skill for 10 Mana Points. After getting this skill I destroy all six rooms that have been placed up to this point. With these rooms destroyed I start to make my new dungeon. The first thing I add is for long paths with randoms turns along them. I make these paths go to the four corners of my dungeon and place a room at the end of each of them. With the rooms made, I order each queen to bring their worker to one of the rooms. After they enter, I lower the ceiling in the hallway that leads to each of the rooms, making it so only the worker beetles can get to them. With this done, I place a queen and a worker in the two remaining rooms and give names to each of the remaining workers. They are all given names on how I plan to evolve them and are: Aqua, Blaze, and Gust. After spending another 150 Life points to give them all names I get back to work on the dungeon. The next step is where my core goes. For this, I make a path that branches of the main path and after many twists and turns leads to where I will keep my core. A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.After placing the room and moving my core to it. I start to work on the maze part of my dungeon. For this, I use hallways that look exactly the same. While placing these hallways, I make sure that there is no way of knowing if you have been in a hallway before. Making all the turns look the same and have many branching paths. The paths aren''t random either. Most of the lead deeper into the dungeon, that is until you start to get close to my core. It is at this point where they start to lead away from it. Keeping them trapped in the middle of the dungeon. After I am finally satisfied with my maze, I start to place traps. I learned from the last attack that after 3 hours traps like pitfalls rest themselves. With this in mind, I start to place them all over my maze. Randomly picking a spot and placing a pitfall. Also since they are part of my dungeon and not an actual pitfall. My monsters don''t set them off when they walk over them. With my dungeon finally finished and all my mana spent I start to think back on the fight. I''m thinking about it when I notice something. I didn''t get any levels or titles from the fight. Realizing this is strange I decide to ask about it. (Adam) "How come I didn''t get any levels despite killing a bunch of humans?"

You are now level 11 and gain the titles: Merciless and Human slayer. You also got the skill "skill grant", it lets you let others use your skills and help you gain experience for them.
(Adam) "I''ll have to try that out later. Well, thanks for telling me" I say to not arouse suspicion while secretly trying to think up a plan in case Saphire starts to act on their own and waiting for more people to come to my dungeon.

(Author''s notes) For anyone that had trouble understanding. His dungeon is now a large maze with his core in the center and a room holding a queen and what will be called head warrior of each hive in them. To get into these rooms there is a low ceiling making it so that only the normal beetles can get in them. Chapter 8: Empires Scouts I was waiting around in my dungeon thinking about what to do if Saphire stopped listening to me when I noticed something. There were people at the entrance of my dungeon again. Looking them over they seemed to dressed in fancy clothes and all of them have the same sigil on their chests. Looking them over they seem to be people from the empire that the hunters were talking about earlier. Knowing that I probably need to know what they are saying I decide to upgrade my translator skill. Having decided this I get ready to upgrade the skill when the box pops up.

I spend the small amount of mana and Life Points it takes to upgrade while taking not of the other requirements to learn the skill. After getting the skill I use it so that I can understand what they are saying. (Man 1) "This is a dungeon right?) (Man 2) "If it wasn''t a dungeon why would the general send us out here to scout it out?" (Scout 1) "I don''t know. Maybe the villagers lied to us about it." (Scout 2) "Ya, they lied to the empire to hide a dungeon from us. Why wouldn''t they do that." (Scout 1) "I don''t know. I was just asking." (Scout 3) "Alright you two, we got more important things to deal with. We need to enter the dungeon and gather anything that might be useful in conquering it." (Scout 1) "Should we really go in it. The villagers said that the 6 adventures went in it and only 1 came back and it''s been 3 days since then. It has probably gotten stronger since then." (Scout 2) "Stop being such a coward. In three days a dungeon can only grow so much. At most, it added a room or two and a couple of monsters. This dungeon probably doesn''t even have a floor boss yet." (Scout 3) "He''s right. This is a new dungeon, those five that died wore probably just careless. We will take it slow and if we see any monsters we will just leave." After saying this he started to walk towards my dungeon and the other two followed close behind him. Knowing that they are just scouts I decide to go over the new things I added to my dungeon while I wait for them to reach the monsters. The first thing I did was add evolution paths for the normal beetle workers to take. There were 4 in total and they got to choose themselves which path to take. The four paths they could take are Defence, Offence, Scout, and Regenerator. Defence gives them a much thicker exoskeleton and lets them use their mana to make it even harder but are much slower. Offence gives them stronger and sharper pincers with higher muscle mass and can use their energy to make themselves stronger. Scout has had its exoskeleton and pincers reduced and their leg muscles strengthened to make them much faster but much more vulnerable to attacks and can use their energy to move faster. Regenerator gets a small boost in defence, speed, and strength and can use their energy to heal most wounds. Once a beetle evolves into one of these classes they become a warrior. Next, there are the special beetles. These are Bolt, Aqua, Blaze, and Gust and are the head warriors of their clans. Though Bolt is the only one that has evolved so far. I have plans for all of them. Also in total Bolt and Aqua''s clans each have 60 workers while Blaze and Gust''s clan each have 40. With these many monsters at once, I can tell that the floors Mana can only support about 1000 beetles, so each clan will be limited to 100. I chose such a low number to let them evolve and gather Mana to replace what they use in battle. After going over all the changes I made to the beetles I look over to see how the humans are doing. Finding them right about to run into Aqua and knowing that this is a good chance to test how strong humans are, I don''t bring in any more monsters. When they notice Aqua in front of them they draw their weapons and start to move towards him. Noticing that he is not moving, two of them start to run at him with their swords while they last one draws his bow. As they get closer the two in the front both swing their swords at Aqua but are stopped by his pincers. Noticing that their attack failed the two men jump back as the one behind them fires an arrow at Aqua. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. Ignoring the arrow, Aqua just runs at the two men in front. Panicking they swing their swords at him but he just ignores it and jumps at the man on the right. Seeing his friend being attacked the man on the right starts to swing his sword like crazy but is unable to do anything as Aqua crushes the man and turns to his friend. Knowing there is nothing that he can do he takes about a crystal and crushes it. As soon as he dose this, the crystal starts to glow red and explodes. The explosion engulfs Aqua and almost reaches the archer that is behind them. Thinking that it is over the Archer starts to relax when Aqua jumps out of the smoke and starts to crush him. Right as he is about to die he yells out (Scout 2) "Dungeon, the empire is coming for you. You are going to pay for this" And with that his life ended. Now that Aqua had gathered enough Life Points to evolve he starts to glow white. While thinking what I was going to do about this empire I start to modify him. After some time I have finished his evolution. It is very similar to Bolt but instead of having electricity, he can shoot a thin blade of water that should be able to even cut steel. I also made his exoskeleton harder to price since I didn''t have to make it resistant to electricity. As the glow fades, I notice something interesting. Aqua still has the wounds he got from the explosion even after he evolved. The wounds aren''t too deep but are still clearly visible. Burn marks here and there and a small hole and the side of his body that was facing the explosion. Looking him over I tell him to go rest as two blue boxes put up telling me I gained two levels. Ignoring it as it''s not, important I start to get ready for the next group that enters my dungeon.

(Authers notes) I got some bad news guys. After many years of being with me, my computer chair died last night. May it rest in pieces. Chapter 9: Danger Approaches It has been a couple of days since the first group of scouts came to my dungeon. Since then nearly 20 more have come after me, not one has left alive. Because of this, I have been able to grow to level 16 and unlock the skill "Core Modification." This skill lets me upgrade my core to make it tougher and give it abilities. Flare and Gust have also evolved along with many worker beetles becoming warriors. In their new forms, Flare is able to set his body on fire and Gust is able to use a pulse of air like a sonar. It''s with these new upgrades that I wait in my core and watch as human after human falls to my dungeon. With this thought in mind, I notice yet another party enter my dungeon. They have an all so familiar conversation of the people who died before them and enter my dungeon. Not paying much attention to them, I send a worker after them to let it evolve and get back to thinking. After about 3 minutes I notice something interesting. The beetle was slain by them. Paying more attention to them, I move my vision to them. Seeing them, I look the four of them over. The one that seems to be the leader is a man that uses twin swords and has light chainmail on him. The next one is a large man with full plate mail and a sword as large as he is. Behind them is an old man in robes, with a staff in his hands and scorch marks around him. In front of them, there is a man dressed in light armor looking for traps. While looking them over I notice that they don''t have the crest of the empire on them. (Adam) "That''s strange. Everyone who has come in here up to this point has had that crest on them. Does this mean that they aren''t part of the empire? Then why are they here? Maybe I should listen to what they are saying." (Mage) "I can''t believe that this dungeon had a named monster. What was that thing?" (leader) "I don''t know. I have never even heard of something like that before. It might have been a unique monster" (Rouge) "I don''t know about that, but this dungeon is definitely full of traps. We have already run into around 20 so far." They keep talking after this, but I just ignore them to start thinking about what I just learned. (Adam) "They think that the normal beetles are named monsters? That means that my dungeon is already much stronger that a normal dungeon of the same age. Against people like this, I am pretty much invincible. Let''s show them what they get for understanding me." And it is with this thought that I send Blaze after them. I watch as he reaches them and starts to fight with them by lighting his body on fire and attacking the rogue. Managing to reach him before anyone can react, he smashes him into the wall, killing him almost instantly. Seeing that their friend was killed right before them, they draw their weapons and start to fight. Right away the man with the large sword runs and Blaze and swings his sword. Expecting nothing to happen, I watch calmly as the man swings his sword down. Only to be surprised when the sword almost cuts through the exoskeleton, stopping just inches from piercing right through it. Seeing this I panic and tell Blaze to kill them no matter what it takes. Seeming to understand me, he starts to gather his strength and moves towards the Mage. I hear a crunching sound as the large sword rips apart his exoskeleton as he runs forward. As he reaches the Mage, he concentrates the fire on his pincers and starts to burns the man alive as the other two run after him. The Mage starts to scream as he is quickly being burnt alive by the Mage. Finally reaching Blaze the two men swing their swords with tears in their eyes for their fallen comrades, the finally price Blazes exoskeleton. Crying out in pain I start to fell the Mana in the room move towards Blaze. I watch in shock as the Mana in the room all gathers in Blaze right before he detonates his core, exploding. I stare at the room unable to think as the smoke in the rooms clears. I look for Blaze but all that''s left is some shattered pieces of his exoskeleton. Ignoring the level up notification I start to think about what just happened. (Adam) "What is wrong with me? Why did I send him in on his own? I made so many of them so that I could swarm my enemies. Not play with them. I''m normally better than this." "What is happening to me?"
It is because you are a dungeon. Your mental state is slowly starting to be more like theirs. You have been fighting it but you are slowly succumbing to it. Did you not think it strange that you had no qualms with killing people.

No. You can fight against it, to try and remain yourself. If you can do this till you are able to find a way to make a body for yourself, then you will be able to remain you.

Then there are the gods themselves, they might not be able to directly interfere with the world, but they can create an avatar to use against you.

The gods hate dungeon, they drain the power of their world. That''s why they offer rewards to whoever is able to destroy them. With the speed that you grow at, they might see you as a threat to their world. If this happens, they will do everything in their power to destroy you. As for them being unable to directly interfere with the world, they are only minor gods of this small world. There are many that are above them and many at the same level as them. they must follow the rules set by those above them.

Don''t get any ideas. They might not be that strong in the grand scheme of things, but compared to you they are an invisible existence that you have no hope of beating.

(Authors notes) Sorry about not uploading a chapter yesterday. I got a new video game and ended up playing it all day. To make up for it I''m planning on realising two chapters today. Bonus Chapter 2: Battle Approaching I start my day by listing to my incompetent servant give his report on the mercenaries that were sent into the dungeon. After listening to the report I was enraged. Not bothering to listen to the rest of the report, I start to scream at him. (?????) "What do you mean the mercenaries never returned!? They were all ranked D-. How would they lose to a dungeon that was just formed?" (Servant) "I d-don¡¯t know sir." (?????) "Well, you better find out! Cause if you don''t, you will be the next person entering that dungeon. Understand?" (Servant) "Y-Yes General Markstan." (General Markstan) "Good! Then go and summon my party. We have a plan to recreate do to the incompetence of those under me." (Servant) "Yes, sir!"After saying that he hurriedly leaves the room to search for the members of my team. As soon as he leaves, I start to think about the things that have happened the last few days. First, we received reports that a new dungeon had formed out in the mountains at the edge of the kingdom. But when we got there it was already strong enough to take down a full party of adventures. Since it was stronger then it was predicted to be. I was ordered to not enter it till it was confirmed to be safe. To do this we sent in scouts with the goal to reach the core and report back to us. Since none of them returned we decide to hire some mercenaries to clear it for us. And that leads us to where we are now, with nothing left to try but an all out attack. It was as I was thinking this as my party entered the meeting room. The first of the group was my childhood friend Riwig. We were both born in the same small village and joined the military at a young age. But unlike me, he trained in a strange blade called a katana. A strange sword brought by people from another world know as Earth. We quickly rose in ranks and it was on one of our missions that we met Cia. A young sorcerer, who despite being two years younger than us at the time, was able to defend her whole village from a goblin attack. Comforting her after we brought her back to our corp, we convinced her to join the military and fight with us to make sure that nothing like this was able to ever happen again. The three of us were investigating a road where carriages were diapering. It was here that we met the last member of our party Erildar, a young elf who was hunting the same monsters we were. After joining forces, we were able to kill all of the monsters that were in the area. With the monsters defeated we were going to part ways when Riwig asked him to join us. Accepting his offer Riwig has helped us with many missions, despite never being part of the military. With him now part of our group, we had many more adventures before I was promoted to general and Riwig ended up marrying Cia and having a child. I was going to continue reminiscing about the past when I was jolted back to reality by Riwig speaking. (Riwig) "Hey Markstan, hows it been?" (General Markstan) "Calm as always, I see." (Riwig) "Of course! You, on the other hand, seem to under a lot of stress." (General Markstan) "You have no idea. Since then we have sent many teams and even some local mercenary went into the dungeon. But every party we sent in never returned. We have no idea what is in the dungeon or how strong it might be. All we do know is that it is at least ranked D-. If it is left to grow it might become a threat to the entire empire." (Riwig) "So we are going to enter a dungeon that no one has ever left alive and we have no idea how strong it is or will be. Count me in." (General Markstan) "I understand that you won''t be able to. I only called you because I was ordered to, you don''t need to fight this battle." (Cia) "We are your friends if you need our help we will be there for you." (Riwig) "Besides, Lea is already 15, You make it sound like she is still just a child. Also, she has been learning to be an adventure for five years now. We need to at least make things as safe for here as we can before we retire." (General Markstan) "Thanks, I really appreciate what you are doing for me. If you ever need anything of me just say so." (Riwig) "Come on, we have been friends for years, there is no need for you to act like this." (Cia) "Ya, just tell us the plan." (General Markstan) "We will have a total of seven teams, three are mercenary that we paid, two are high-level teams from the army, one is a group of villagers, and the last one will be us. All seven teams will charge in and look for the dungeon core. The first team to reach it is to destroy it and get out of the dungeon. A message has been sent to the empire that if we don''t return in 30 days to the capital, it means that we have fallen in the dungeon." (Riwig) " So we just charge into the dungeon and hope that someone destroys the core?" (General Markstan) "That is the plan. We will be attacking tomorrow, so I would recommend getting some sleep." As I say that Erildar simply turns around and leaves. Following right after, Cia and Riwig walk off together for their personal tent. With them gone I start to go towards my own sleeping quarters, trying to ignore a gnawing feeling of worry that is starting to build up inside me. (Author''s Notes) Sorry about stopping posting chapters all of a sudden. I lost my internet and by the time I got it back school had started. I am settled now and will try to post a chapter every day again. Also, how do these characters feel? I have never written before and want to make sure they don''t all fell like they have the same personality. Chapter 10: The Battle Begins I was planning my next upgrades when I sensed something worrying. Looking to see what it was I noticed around 100 humans were marching towards the entrance to my dungeon. At the front of the group was a man with full plate mail and twin swords strapped to his waist. Behind him was a man seemed to be wearing ordinary cloth and was holding something that looked like a Japanese katana. Behind them was a female mage and what looked like an elf archer. While I was starting to form my plan on how to fight them. They did something that made me have to rethink my whole plan. They broke up into smaller groups and ran into the dungeon. The first three groups all had different symbols on them and were probably hired to help them fight me. The next to ran in just moments after them and were clearly members of the empire even if they were much stronger then the scouts that they were sending after me up till this point. The second last group which was much larger then the rest seemed to be random villagers that were just given weapons for the first time in their life. I could tell how little exuberance they had with weapons just by the way they held them. After the rest have entered, the four that seem to be the leaders enter together. With them now wondering around my dungeon, I start to think of a plan to deal with them all. After a bit of time of them wondering around my dungeon. I finally have a plan to deal with them all. I will send Blaze and 75 members of his tribe after one of the groups. I will then do the same with Aqua, Gust, and Bolt and 75 members of their tribes. With four groups taken car of, I can send 75 beetles after the last group and 25 after what is probably ordinary villagers. Once they are done with their fights, I will send them all after the group of four, hopefully killing them all. I am about to set my plan in motion when the villagers lose their first man. Triggering a trap they are hit by multiple arrows. killing 5 of them. Seeing their friends die, some of them start to panic and run into even more of my traps. With three more of them down, their group is down to around 15 members. With more of their friends now dead, they stop moving and stay exactly where they are. With them no longer moving, I send in the 25 monsters to their position. Knowing that I no longer need to worry about them, I start to send in my monsters to the other groups as well. With their orders now clear, I watch as swarms of beetles move out from there nest and start to move towards all the pray. Large clouds of black moving out in every direction. Swallowing up everything around them and leaving nothing living in their wake, they destroy anything that is foolish enough to be in there way. I snap back to reality as I notice that the group lead by Aqua has reached its target. Ignoring my worrying train of thought, I start to focus on the fight. Aqua is in the back of the group, firing his water blades while 50 of the normal beetles swarm around him and start to fight with the enemy. Seeing the monsters moving towards them, the humans start to run as well. Clashing in the middle of the hallway, the beetles start to fight with the human warriors. The beetles crushing the humans as they swing their swords in vain. I think that they have no hope of winning when suddenly a large fireball is launched, killing one of the beetles. Looking to where this came from I see the groups only mage had just fired off a spell and hand many people covering for him. Noticing that things just got interesting, I order all the beetles to go straight for the mage. With their new orders, the beetles start to swarm at the Mage. Noticing what they are doing, the humans start to back up towards the Mage as they are being picked off by the beetles that are trying to get to the mage and Aqua trying to open up a path. With all of this happening, the Mage reaches into his pocket and pulls out a blue veil. Looking at it for a moment, he opens it and drinks the blue liquid. As soon as he does this, the magic around him gets much stronger as he starts to fire of magic at a much larger rate. With the sudden change, Aqua start to fire all its water blades at the Mage. But the mage sees them coming and raises what looks like a wall of vines in front of him. I then watch as the water blades seem to vanish as they hit the magic vines. Seeing this Aqua start to fire more water blades at him but is still unable to hit him. Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. While this was happening the normal beetles were starting to get closer to the Mage, having killed about have the people in their way. Seeing that there was no hope for them, the people started to run away. But before they could get away, the remaining 25 beetles start to swarm out the other end of the hallway and attack them from the back. With the beetles on both sides of them, the humans have no choice but to keep fighting with the beetles if they don''t want to be killed. Noticing that there was no hope for them, some of them started to pray, but most of them kept on fighting. As the beetles started to kill off the last couple of people in their way, the Mages barrier finally collapsed as he was pierced by a water blade. It was at this moment that I thought that they would finally give up. But to my surprise, they keep on fighting despite the fact that there was no chance of them winning at this point. I watch as the last of them are killed off and am about to relax when I notice something. The other beetles have just reached their group to attack. I look over the other groups as I order the beetles that just finished fighting to start to heal up. As I''m going to need all the help I can get in the battle is about to come. Spoiler :

(Authors Notes) I know that I have been slacking on chapters. To try and fix this I will be adding a missed chapter queue from now on. Whenever I miss a chapter I will be adding one to the queue. And whenever I have chapters left in it, I will spend all of my free time writing till I get it back to zero. I will just be putting a ten in it, but if anyone posts the actual amount I will change it to that. Chapter 11: The Battle Continuous With the beetles having started to heal I move my vision over to the next battle. There I see Bolt leading his tribe into battle aginst the second group of humans. These ones seem to be from the empire and are much weaker than the last group. Which I find is strange. How can an empire be so much weaker than the people it rules over. This group doesn''t even have some strong Mage or warrior with an exceptional sword. It''s as I''m thinking this that final five of them all take out a scroll of paper and start to chant. As they do this a wall of Mana appears around them. As they do this I start to take a closer look at them and notice that they seem to be wearing nicer close then the rest of them. They also have better weapons and are the only ones that seem to have these scrolls on them. It''s at this moment that I realize what is happening, they are probably low ranking nobles that thought they would get a part of the blessing for killing me if they entered the dungeon and used the other soldiers as guards. They also probably brought the villagers into the dungeon distract some of the monsters so that they had a better chance of surviving. They were also moving to my core and not just staying in the entrance of my dungeon. This probably means that they can''t just stay at the entrance if they want to gain the benefits for destroying my core. I must have been much stronger than they, though. So they hired some local mercenary to help with fighting me and sent in many of their soldiers as scouts to find the path to my core for these nobles. As I''m thinking about these things, the barrier breaks as Bolt hits it one last time. With it now down they kill the nobles and finish of this group with only have lost 10 beetles and taking minimal damage. I order them to regroup with the other beetles as I start to look at how the other beetles are doing. Blaze seems to be doing well, he was taking out a mercenary group and had only lost 25 of his subordinate while having taken out most of his enemies. I watched as he stabbed a person with his pincer and burned his insides before throwing him aside and running at a woman using a strange glowing bow. The man fired his bow at Blaze before reaching her hand into the air and creating an arrow out of mana before firing at Blaze again. I watched as Blaze was able to dodge the first one but was hit by the second one as he exoskeleton started to crack. Ignoring this, he continued to run towards the woman with the fire on his pincers started to glow brighter. The two of them look each other in the eye as she fires her last arrow. It hits him making his exoskeleton starts to crack even more, to the point where it starts to look like spider webs, but it does not pierce it. Knowing that he has won, he reaches here and finishes her of. With their leader now dead, the rest of the mercenaries start to panic a bit more than the last group. But are still very calm for the situation that they are in. With the rest of the humans being cleaned up and having lost a total of 25 beetles I move onto the next group. This group just so happens to be the other noble group that did not have a named monster going after them. Despite this, by the time I started watching them. They had already lost all their men but a few that were hiding with the nobles and had only killed around 20 beetles. I watched unimpressed as the barrier protecting them fell and they were left defenseless as the rest of them were slaughtered. With that pathetic fight over I decided to see how the villagers were doing. While trying to find them I found the running away from the beetles as they were slowly being picked off one by one. I was about to stop paying attention to them when I noticed something interesting, they were heading straight for the exit. Wondering how this was possible I noticed that one of them was holding a quickly drawn map and was doing his best to read it while running away. Wondering if they would be able to make it out or not, I decided to watch them as they struggled to run for their lives. The man in the lead yelling out instruction as the others did what they were told. as they followed behind him. I thought that they were actually going to make it out. That is until they ran into a pitfall. Killing the three in the front and trapping the rest of them with the beetles, they only lasted a couple of seconds before the last of them fell. With them dead, I think that everything is going perfectly as I move to the last battle. When I get there all I see is beetle and human corpses everywhere. Looking around the only things still alive are Gust and a human wielding a great sword. Gust is doing everything that he can to fight with the person, but since his ability is focused on observation, there is only so much he can do. I watch as the large man swings his sword down on Gust over and over as his exoskeleton starts to crack more and more. This goes on for a bit before Gust''s exoskeleton finally shatters and he makes his Mana Core explodes sending powerful blades of wind out in every direction, cutting the man''s arm off but not killing him.Seeing that he is still alive I''m about to send in more monsters to finish him off when I notice that he is probably going to bleed out. With this in mind, I start to gather ever beetle that is still alive and start the final fight with the last four. Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. With them, all gathered I start by sending them all in except for the three named ones and 25 normal ones. As they start to get closer to the humans they enter a battle formation. With the archer in the back, the Mage in the middle, and the two swordsmen up front. It is in this formation they are able to kill every beetle that comes for them by simply cutting everything that comes at the while the to ranged attackers kill everything that is far away from them. It is only a couple of minutes into this fight and they have already managed to kill over half of the beetles that are going after them. If that isn''t enough, none of them even look tired yet. They seem to be having fun as they are killing monster after monster. The two swordsmen seem to be in perfect sync as they cover each other and push forwards through the horde of enemies as they are covered by the mage and archer. They had pushed their way through the whole horde when I put my plan into action. I sent in Aqua to charge at the archer. Quickly reaching him, it self-detonated before any of them were able to react. As he did this pressurized water launched out of him in every direction, killing the archer and wounding the man wielding a great sword. Seeing this the two Swordsmen started running towards the Mage but where to late as Bolt also self-detonated, killing the Mage and giving a chance for Blaze to go after the two Swordsmen. He reached the two of them and did the same, covering them in fire and sending them both flying into the walls. With them both dead I send the remaining beetles into clean up the mess. As they are doing this something unexpected happens, the one wielding the Katana start to get up. Noticing this, the beetles around him start to go after him. Not even a second after they are in range of him, he starts to attack them. Killing them one after another, showing no signs of weakening. It is as he is doing this that I realize that I need to think up a new plane fast. And it is with this thought that I start to try and think of what to do as he kills the last surviving beetle and starts to walk around the dungeon looking for me. Spoiler :

(Authors Notes) Well, there we go, two chapter in one night. I will try to upload two tomorrow and will probably spend all Saturday writing chapters. But for now, thats the last chapter. Chapter 12: The Battle Ends With no beetles left alive, I start to try and think of plan to fight him with him. And with nothing else coming to mind, I start to circulate my Mana and try to talk to him. (Adam) "Hey, can you hear me?" As I say this I watch him for any reaction, not getting one I decide to try something different. I focus on him and start to use some of Mana. Feeling something different, this time, I try to talk with him again. (Adam) "Hey, can you hear me now?" Noticing my voice, he stops moving and starts to look for me. Not seeing anything, he starts to speak. (Man) "Who are you?" Hearing him finally reply, I happily say. (Adam) "I''m Adam, and you would be. After he says this I simply stop trying to talk to him and just watch as he tries to find me. Dodging traps and walking through hallway after hallway. He shows no signs of slowing down, and with all my monsters killed I have nothing to do but wait for him to reach me. (Man) "I''m Jon. What are you doing in this dungeon? You should not be in here." (Adam) "I am the dungeon." As I say this, he draws his sword and starts to point it around the room. Not being able to see anyone, he starts to walk around the rooms around him looking for someone. Giving up on finding me, he starts to look for my core again as he yells. ("Jon") "Where are you?! Show yourself to me" Not saying anything, I watch him as he starts to yell and run down the hallway. Running from room to room, he starts to speak. ("Jon") "I will kill you, you evil monster." (Adam) "What have I ever done that was evil?" ("Jon") "You have killed more than a hundred innocent people!" (Adam) "Innocent? They were here to kill me. Besides, those nobles seemed to be ok with using their guards as shields to buy themselves more time." ("Jon") "They were nobles, it is the duty of soldiers to protect those that are higher than them." (Adam) "So a humans value is dependent on who gave birth to them? Does that mean if I was a king, that everything that I did would be lawful and justified? That the lives of others mean nothing because I have higher rank than them? You say that I am evil, but you are nothing more than a hypocrite" ("Jon") "Enough of your lies, you killed my wife and you will die for that. There is nothing that you can do or say that will stop me from finding you and crushing your core with my bare hands." After saying this, he starts to use a magic ability that seems to point to my core. Using this he starts to go through room after room, quickly moving towards me. Seeing that this is a huge problem, I start to circulate my Mana faster and even spend some of it to practice Mana arrow. With my last ability ready to use I wait in my chamber as I watch him slowly move towards me. It''s like this that I notice that he is clutching something in his hand. Looking closer, I notice that it is a pendant with a painted portrait of the woman that I killed and a little girl that I have never seen before. Thinking about it, I realize that if the older woman is his wife, then the younger one is probably his daughter. Which would mean that this man had a family and was still foolish enough to enter into a dungeon and risk his life for the sake of power. While thinking about what this and other things I have seen must imply about this world, I notice that he is starting to get much closer to my core room. It is just a few moments after this that he finally reaches my core. Looking at me, he charges at me as traps go of all around him. The ground caves in, the ceiling caves in, arrows are shot at him, and poison gas fills the room as he is forced to a stop. But even this is not enough to stop him, as the rubble around him starts to shift and fall away. And it is in this moment that I start the next part of my plan and fire Mana arrows at him, piercing his left arm and almost blowing it off. And it is when he is within ten feet of me that this waiting pays off, as the poison starts to take effect and he is forced to his knees. But he soon forces himself back up to his knees and continues to push towards me, seeming to be moving his body through sheer force of will. He raises his blade to me and starts to swing at my core. As I''m forced to us my final ability, a core modification that lets me explode, sending him flying and almost killing myself as everything around me starts to, once again, fade away. Spoiler :

(Authors Notes) Sorry for the short chapter, I had trouble writing it for some reason. Also to answer some questions I saw, he can only use Mana Arrow from his core and not anywhere in his dungeon. As for why I put his stats the end of every chapter, it''s just because it bothers me if every chapter is not symmetrical and I want to be on chapters were the stats do change. Chapter 13: Finishing The First Floor Waking up, I feel something that I haven''t felt in a long time, pain. It was intense, yet I was unable to tell where it was coming from. I was like my whole body was hurting at the same time. Trying to ignore this pain, I start to look at my core. And doing so, I noticed blue boxes all over my vision.

Willing these boxes to disappear, I start to focus on my Core. And as I see it, my fears are confirmed. It is covered in cracks and seems to be barely holding together. Looking closer I even notice that there seems to be Mana leaking out of it and into the room around me. Just enough for me to feel it, but definitely not a good sign on the state of my Core. If all this wasn''t enough, I had no idea on how to fix my core. And it was with this state of mind, that I started to try and fix my Core. The first thing I did was try and send Mana to the cracks in my Core, but all this did was make my Core lose mana even faster. The next thing that I tried was to condense Mana at the cracks. It didn''t work, but I did get the Mana Sheild skill. After this, I tried many other things, like using core modification to fix the cracks or using dungeon building on myself. But nothing I did showed any signs of working. I was about to give up when I got an idea and took a look at my skills. Finding the one I was looking for, I start to read the description.

Knowing that I need to get this skill, I use the Novice version. As I do, I feel my vision starting to fade as the pain starts to fade away and with it a bunch of things that I haven''t felt in a long time start to come back to me. The first thing that I feel is the cold cave ground below me, followed by the smell of damp cave air. And it is as I''m taking this in that I feel something else, the need to breathe and it is with a sharp breath that I feel air enter my lungs for the first time in weeks. And this is how I spend the next couple of minutes, trying to get used to having a body again. And as I''m getting used to it again, I start to think of was to improve my dungeon. And the first thing that I decide to do is create a boss for the first floor. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. And with this plan in mind, I decide to move my vision to the edge of my Core room, but nothing happened. Realizing why I start to walk over to where I wanted to be and start creating the floor boss. I use the same beetle design as the rest of the enemy on this floor but make this one much deferent. The first of which is that it is not small like the others. Instead, it is around a half the size of the room and a quarter of the height. It''s also much slower and tougher than the rest of the beetles in the dungeon. I don''t give it a name so that doesn''t cost me Mana to respawn it but I do let it control all the other beetles on the floor, making them act as it''s minions. With the boss now done, I respawn Blaze, Aqua, Gust, and Bolt and start to work on their evolutions. Making them all tougher and letting them use their Mana to speed up their regeneration and strengthing their body further. I also give them further control over the respective elements. As I''m doing this I start to plan their next evolutions but keep getting the strange feeling that they are as strong as they are able to grow. And it is because of this that I give up on upgrading them and start to check out the queens. And it is after a long walk that I see them and notice something strange, they have evolved on their own. Most likely having gotten Life energy from their offspring then evolving when I was recovering. They seem to be the same, except for the fact that they now create warrior beetles instead of worker beetles, skipping a whole step of evolution for the lesser beetles. Letting this floor recover even quicker from the last attack and giving me more protection from people who try to slowly take out all the monsters on a floor. With everything looking good, I walk back to my Core room and start to make a new floor. When it is finished I notice that my Mana loss slowed down a bit. Next, I make a room on this floor and staircase leading from the Core room down to the new room. I then make the Core move into this new room with me and start to climb up the new set of stairs. As I enter what was once the Core room and will soon be the boss room, I start to summon the Beetle boss that I made. I watch as the familiar yet strange glow appears before me as the boss is summoned. When it is done, I start to walk back down the stairs planning the next floor. Spoiler :
