 Chapter 1 The Beginning

    Wantun village, a small village near the mountains in the Exodius Continent. In it in an open area, many children could be found, and in their midst were three bulky men. The leader of those men was called Yun Wai Tian, and he was currently teaching the children. ¡°Ok listen up!¡± the group of children immediately stood to attention. He immediately began pacing ,¡±You kids are all commoners, meaning that you will not have access to high quality medicines, and top secret cultivation methods from the start! So you will be left behind, but if you work hard and join a sect, then prove your worth, you will surpass them! Today we will start with the Horse stance! Begin!¡±All the kids and the teenagers had a glint in their eyes as they executed the stance. After 5 minutes, the first children began to fall of exhaustion. By the 10 minute mark, all who remained were teenagers. Until finally they too fell down. Yun Wai Tian stepped forward and sternly remarked,¡±You kids did better! All of you have improved by leaps and bounds!¡± ¡°Thank you teacher Waiting!¡± The children replied. All of them began to leave. Yun Wai Tian particularly paid attention to a boy named Lin Ming, who could already compete with kids years older than him. He sighed wistfully. None of the children here had access to cultivation manuals so they would fall far behind, as the nobles had access to miracle medicines and high ranking teachers.

However, Yun Wai Tian noticed, he fell down in a way so as to not touch the paint. ¡°Impressive!¡± Yun Wai Tian thought ,¡±He already has reached the Small Success stage of body control even though he is only 7.¡± After another minute, all the teenagers had fallen down and they were laughing and talking with Lin Ming.¡±Lin Ming! Run 30 laps around the village for disturbing practice!¡± he barked angrily,¡±The rest of you pay attention.¡± As Lin Ming groaned and began running, he could faintly hear behind him the sound of his Uncle Waitians yelling. ¡®1 laps, 2 laps, 3 laps¡­.20 laps¡¯ Lin Ming counted in his head as he tiredly made his way around the village for his 20th lap. As he finally finished his 30th lap he went back to the practice field and began to do push ups along with the group. After the end of the day Lin Ming began to walk home. When he arrived he hugged his mom and dad, and collapsed in the bed. In the night, a sudden tremor ran through the ground. Lin Ming almost fell of the bed in panic and ran outside to see what was going on. What he saw made him freeze along with everyone who looked toward the entrance of the village

 Chapter 2:Battle

    In the night, a sudden tremor ran through the ground. Lin Ming almost fell out of the bed in panic and ran outside to see what was going on. What he saw made him freeze along with everyone who looked toward the entrance of the village. A mighty expert was riding on a magical beast through the village. That''s a Emerald Drake! Lin Ming thought, thinking back to the books he read, the magical beast was at the Houtian Realm, and it was extremely hard to make one submit to you. The very aura of the beast was enough to make many people faint, and him to feel intense pressure. But what was more terrifying was not the magical beast itself, it was the rider. When Lin Ming looked into his eyes, a jolt ran through his mind and he staggered. What realm was he, Lin Ming wondered, horrified, so that a very look could make him almost faint?! And he could subdue the Emerald Drake! The only realms i know of are the body strengthening, Houtian, and then the legendary Xiantian realm!  The first to recover from the shock was the Chief Elder of the village who walked up to the cultivator, and bowed down to the ground.¡±Why did you come here, oh mighty cultivator? Your strength can shake mountains, and destroy the seas, so why did you come to our tiny village?¡± he asked. He was met with the reply of,¡±Allow me to search your village mortals, I am searching for something. As he gazed around the village, his eyes stopped on a group of adventurers. ¡°Hand the item over, Rembrax!¡± He growled,¡±lest you die a painful death! I am kind and benevolent so I will allow you to leave with your lives and 10 gold, if you give it to me.¡±¡±WHAT¡± the adventurer party¡¯s leader, Rembrax yelled,¡±Me and my squadron spent no less than 5000 gold to obtain this item, and you want to buy it for 10 gold? Screw you!¡± and with that the adventurer party began attacking the cultivator, but the drake would not just stand by as his master was getting attacked. He reached out and swallowed one of the adventurers, as the cultivator began chanting a divine ability.

    After he ended the chant, a large mass of fire began to materialize in front of him and Yun Wei Tian¡¯s face paled, ¡°ALL VILLAGERS RUN AWAY!¡± he yelled. And as they began running, Lin Ming looked behind him, only to see a gigantic fiery dragon blowing a giant wave of fire toward the adventurers, and turned his head back and ran faster. After a while, the cultivator left, much to the villagers relief, and the repairs began, most all the buildings in the town center were burnt to the ground, so new ones had to be constructed immediately. Finally, it was all over, Lin Ming sighed, so many things happening in so short a time! ¡°I hope life is better after this.¡± he muttered.

 Chapter 4: Revelation

    After a few months, life resumed normally for Lin Ming and the villagers. As Lin Ming walked toward the practice field, he realized he was late for practice and began to run and he made it just in time. ¡°Today I will be teaching you to circulate qi through your bodies. I only have the simplest method for doing so, so when you join a sect, be sure to use their methods, as their methods are many times better than mine.¡±Yun Wai Tian barked,¡±All cultivators have at least 48 meridians running through their bodies, depending on the amount of meridians you have opened, you will be stronger or weaker than normal. For example, a cultivator with 12 opened meridians will be stronger than a cultivator with 11 opened meridians. Some cultivators have more than 48 meridians, but those are mainly people in sects!¡±¡±Okay!¡±¡± Lin Ming and the children yelled. ¡°Everyone sit down and meditate, I will explain how to rotate your qi in your body.¡± When everyone was ready, Yun Wai Tian continued, ¡°Look deeply inside yourself. Your dantian, where all your qi is stored and absorbed, is between your stomach and your chest. You will be able to feel channels connecting to the dantian from around the body. All humans have qi generated from their body, but to advance in ranks, it is easier to absorb qi from the air. Flow your qi through these channels and to your muscles and bones to strengthen them, for now focus on strenghthening your muscles.¡± When he finished, Lin Ming had already began to follow his instructions. As he began to feel the qi in his dantian, he realized the outside air was full of it, and it had a decently high density, so he tried to draw it to himself, but it didn¡¯t come to him. He pondered this for a bit, until he realized that he had to get the qi in his dantian to flow first, so as to know how to move the qi. So he willed the qi to move into the channels in his body and flow around. When he ran out of qi he began to unconsciously absorb qi from the atmosphere until he realized what he was doing and began to analyze how he was doing it. After a while Lin Ming realized that the concept was extremely simple, he breathed in the qi along with air, and he absorbed the qi inside his body and sent it to his dantian where he then rotated the qi again.

    Yun Wai Tian watched everyone with satisfication, as everyone was rotating the qi quite well, until he realized that Lin Ming was actually absorbing the qi in the atmosphere, even though he had not taught them how to do so. He watched in stupication until he thought to himself excitedly ¡®GENIUS¡¯, he could definitely join a sect in the future and grow strong! Then he could protect the village and allow it to flourish! So he began watching him more closely until Lin Ming¡¯s qi density suddenly spiked. ¡®He broke through to the muscle strengthening realm?! Already?!¡¯ Yun Wai Tian could not be shocked any more,¡±Stop! Go home!¡± he could not help but say, so that he could go home and ponder for a while. ¡°Already?¡± Lin Ming asked. He had felt extremely exhilerated, as he felt that he had broken through, and his muscles and his body was overflowing with qi. Yun Wai Tian looked back and looked like he wanted to ask something until he sighed and said firmly,¡±Yes! I need to think!¡±

 Chapter 4: Desire to Traverse the world (actual chapter 4)

    When he arrived home, he immediately began to pack his belongings into a bag. ¡°Where are you going?¡± his mother, Lin Mei asked. ¡°I am leaving to go travel the world!¡± His mother immediately blocked his way and sighed. ¡°It¡¯s time to tell you about the world;however, it is too dangerous for a child like you! There are many cultivators, hundreds of thousands of them even they have ranks and realms. Cultivators practice using qi to attack and defend. Cultivators start at the body strengthening realm, which has 5 levels, muscle strengthening, organs training, tendons, bone forging, and pulse condensation. After pulse condensation is the Houtian realm, and the Xiantian realms, which have the early, mid, late, and peak levels. After those is the-¡±¡°Revolving core realm.¡± Lin Ming¡¯s father interrupted as he suddenly entered the room,¡±After that is unknown, but if you surpass the revolving core realm, you will become a Peerless Great Emperor, and you will be essentially unmatched, except by other Great Emperors. You yourself has barely entered the Muscle Strengthening realm, while your mother and I are mortals. While we are only mortals, we once helped an injured cultivator and he left us some manuals for martial skills as thanks! We will give them to you, if you promise not to leave before reaching the Large Success stage of each skill, which is the minimum requirement for joining a big sect. Lin Ming was suddenly overwhelmed with information and took a few seconds to digest the information before replying with a ¡°Yes!¡±¡±Good!¡± His father smiled and handed him 3 manuals. Lin Ming began to tear up, and hugged his parents  tightly and thanked them profusely.  As he was about to go to sleep, his father came into the room again. ¡°There is one more thing I must tell you about¡± he sighed and continued,¡±Villages like our Wantun village often fight for resources like food, water, land, etc. If you have noticed,  our warriors go out frequently, and come back with injuries, having took part in these battles. This information is withheld, so as to not provoke panic.¡± Lin Ming nodded as he took in the information. After residing in the village for a long time, it was only natural that he would see things happening. ¡°Ok, son. You must train well and become strong for dad okay?¡± ¡°Yes!¡± Lin Ming replied. As he lay in bed that night, he thought to himself, Dad protected me all his life, and he also raised me! In return, I must become strong! He swore to himself to gain power to protect his family and loved ones. And he passed out.

 Chapter 5: Clash

    In the morning, Lin Ming awoke, feeling happy and refreshed. As he began walking toward the training field, he could hear Yun Wai Tian yelling in the distance. He smiled wryly, wondering who made him mad this time. Still smiling, Lin Ming began running toward the noise. He was met with a very grumpy Yun Wai Tian, and 24 students running laps. "Lin Ming! Run 10 laps for being late!" He said angrily. Lin Ming only smiled and began running. First lap, second, third fourth.....ninth tenth. When he finished, he ran back, and joined the other children in their task of gathering qi to themselves. He sat down and began rotating his qi, very slowly attacking the boundary between the early and middle Muscle Strengthening realms. Slowly he pushed his qi into his muscles, strengthening them, and absorbed more qi to make up for the amount he lost. He constantly attacked the boundary, until finally, it shattered. He had done it. Lin Ming had broken into the middle Muscle Strengthening realm. As he stood up and looked around exhilirated, he realized that everyone was watching him an shock and silence. Lin Ming also realized that it was already sunset, and he awkwardly began heading home, still being watched by everyone. Suddenly, a strong ripple went through the air, so strong some students visibly paled, while the others began to cough up blood. Lin Ming himself had his qi disrupted, and it was sent into chaos inside his body. He gritted his teeth and rotated the qi to withstand the ripple. He ignored his qeuasy stomach and looked tward where the tremeor originated. There he saw two robed men. But they weren''t normal, they were floating in midair. These men faced off. Yun Wai Tian was the first to recover and shouted,"Everyone to the opposite side of the city!NOW!" with audible urgency. Everyone understood and began running. When the arrived, Lin Ming turned around and began watching. "Dylan hand over the treasure! NOW! and I may spare your life." The red robed man said. The green robed man, Dylan laughed,"I killed your junior apprentice brother, even if I do hand over the treasure then you will never spare me!" "Smart man!" The red robed man growled,"Then I will have to take it by force!" as he said this, the red robed man raised his arm, muttered something incomprehensible, and a flaming dragon burst from his hand and roared. Dylan simply snorted, and drew his sword, then as quick as a flash, the fire dragon was split in half horizontally. "If thats all you, then you can simply lay down your life and die a dogs death!" In reply, the red robed man raised his arm and muttered another spell. After a few seconds, flaming meteorites fell from the sky. Immediately, everyone paled, and ducked. Lin Ming ducked. When he looked up, he saw a flaming meteorite growing bigger and bigger. Until everything went dark. When he awoke, what used to be the city, was now a burning wasteland. He stared in shock until he began crying. He cryed and cryed until a voice rang into his head

    Lin Ming sniffled, wiped away his tears and followed the voice''s directions, until he walked to a meteor. There his body began to walk by itself, onto the meteor, and he saw a shining talisman. His body again moved by it''s own accord until it touched the talisman. Then everything went dark.

 Encounter

    Lin Ming awoke to the sound of people talking. He listened carefully"What should we do?" The sound of a girl''s voice rang out.  "We do not know whether he is a bandit, or maybe a vile villain, but if he is either or something more, I will protect you!" the another voice, clearly male declared, and he said,"Stop hiding it, we know you are awake, your breathing patterns have changed." Lin Ming was shocked when he opened his eyes. The boy had his back to him, meaning that through senses alone, he deduced that he was awake. As Lin Ming took a step forward, he moved the distance covered by twice his former steps, leaving him even more shocked. The boy and girl took a few steps back after turning around, obviously shocked by his speed since he was only at mid body strengthening realm. Lin Ming himself was also very confused, until he remembered the voice that had spoken to him. It was as lightning had struck him. The village was destroyed! He stood still for a very long time, until he was brought back to his senses by a voice.


    "Hey! We have been trying to get you to wake up from your trance like state for over an hour!" Startled, Lin Ming looked up to the sky and froze. It was already midday. He was about to run to the village until he realized that he didnt know where the village was. He turned around and asked,"Where is Wantun village?" The two teenagers replied confused,"Wantun? We dont know where that place is." Lin Ming got angry,"What do you mean you dont know where it is, it should be right around here!"


    "Nope" The boy replied shaking his head, "this is the Qin province of the Chu empire." Lin Ming was shocked. He himself lived in the Chu empire, but the Qin province was over 100 miles from his village! "You are lying." he said almost as if a plea, a question. "Nope."


    Lin Ming fell onto his knees. The boy sighed. "Come with me. I will take you to my Profound sect, so that you may be judged." he stared coldly at Lin Ming,"Do not think that I will give you favor just because of this instance. If you pass the entrance exam, congratulations, if not, then you must train much much harder." Lin Ming laughed, he couldnt help but think the boy sounded like an elder. The boy and the girl began walking together, and Lin Ming ran to catch up. He asked them, "What are your names anyways?"

    "Chu Tianjian." the boy proudly replied. The girl softly said,"Gu Xue." " And I am Lin Ming." he smiled and ran around, testing the limits of his physical ability. It seemed that his body was 2x stronger than it was before the Incident occured. Soon, they stopped at a clearing. Chu Tianjian said,"This is where we will camp for the night. Do not go outside the clearing, as there are beasts in the night, that even I am afraid of. Heeding his warnings, Lin Ming stayed well away from the edges of the clearing, and helped the group set up the tent. Luckily it was a spacious tent, otherwise, he might have had to sleep outside. He didnt immediately begin to sleep, but crossed his legs and began to cultivate. He suddenly straigtened his back in shock. His energy absorbtion was two times faster, and he was at the peak of middle muscle strengthening realm. Also, his meridians had been cleared and widened, so they could hold four times the previous amount of qi. He happily began absorbing and rotating his cultivation base, so to as strenghthen it. With a boom, Lin Ming broke through to high Muscle strengthening realm.


    Chu Tianjian tossed and turned and muttered, "be more quiet with your breakthroughs, try pushing your qi inside your body.  Lin Ming followed his instruction, and to his surprise, his cultivation was almost entirely hidden. He glanced at the sleeping teenager and thought, He truly isnt simple. Just a few words allowed me to mask my cultivation. He sighed and kept rotating his cultivation base. To his utter surpirse, no bottlenecks, like most people said, had occurred and he was able to smoothly break through into mid-level high muscle strengthening realm. He rubbed his eyes and yawned, and decided he needed some sleep, so Lin Ming lay down, and fell asleep.

 The City

    Lin Ming awoke to the smell of cooking meat. He sat up and took a look outside the tent. Sure enough, Gu Xue, and Chu Tianjian were roasting a rabbit over a fire, which was floating over Chu Tianjian''s hand. They looked at him, obviously not surprised.Curious, he asked,"Is that magic?" he was replied with a nod from Gu Xue, and a entire speech from Chu Tianjian,"Obviously this is the all powerful fireball magic! It is a Tier 1 magic, but it is the one with the most attacking power of all Tier 1 spells! How do you not know about magic anyways? Everyone should know about magic. But still, look upon this mighty fireball, and feal fear!"


    Lin Ming could not help but point out,"Then why are you using it to roast a rabbit?" Speachless, Chu Tianjian could only humph, while Gu Xue giggled. When the rabbit was done cooking, it was split into pieces, for everyone to share. Lin Ming could only sigh, as he got a leg, while Chu Tianjian and Gu Xue shared the rest. But that was the way of this world, the strong commanded the weak. He quickly finished his leg, and began packing up the tent, and other things, so as to leave quickly. When the pair finished eating, he was already ready to go.


    They set off toward the Profound City with a full stomach (except on the case of Lin Ming :)) and walked at a brisk pace. Chu Tianjian looked town toward his map, which at some unknown point he had pulled out of his bag, and he smiled, for the first time in a while. He looked up and stated,"WE are only one hour ways from the city. Remember, once we get there, you are on your own. I will not help you get into the Profound sect, that all depends on your luck, and talent. Lin Ming sighed yet again. What a cold fellow.This book was originally published on Royal Road.     They arrived at the city gates, and Lin Ming could not help but gape in shock. The gates were grand and tall, and the walls were twice the thickness of a caravan. He emotionally sighed as he mentally compared it to his former village. This was the distance between a first-rate city and a poor village, even the gaurds had iron armor of high quality. "STOP!" The guard told them,"What do you have on you?" Chu Tianjian took out a silver coin, dropped in the guard''s hand nad ushered us forward.


    "This is where we go our seperate ways" He said. He then flipped over a gold coin to Lin Ming and walked away. Lin Ming stared at the gold coin, and lookedd back up, but the pair were gone. He sighed and asked someone where an inn was, and was pointed toward the west side of the Profound city. The Dragon''s Nest, was the first inn that Lin Ming saw. He was very skeptical, as the name sounded like a dungeon, but he went inside anyways. It was a cozy inn, with chairs, and a bar. He flipped the gold coin to the innkeeper, and asked for one night. The inn keeper immediately returned him 96 silver, as the price per night, including food, was 4 silver. Lin Ming looked in shock at the large pile of silver that was returned to him and sighed as he thought about Chu Tianjian and Gu Xue, who could casually toss away such a large sum of money. The innkeeper handed him his keys and he walked inside to his room.


    He looked around and thought''This is a pretty good room!'' There was a bed, a nice window, and some furniture. OH and how could i have forgotten the sign on the door that says "DAMAGES MUST BE PAYED IN FULL"Lin MIng grinned and sat crosslegged. He began cultivating, but after a while, he frowned. ''After breaking throught to the muscle strengthening second stage, I have encountered a bottleneck'' He thought, not very happy, so he uncrossed his legs, and lay down onto the bed. He thought''Tomorrow i will take the test to enter the Profound Sect!'' and he fell asleep
