《Alpha》


 prologue plague

    My name is Grim or other words experiment 1, the first and only wolf from the experiment Alpha. I was a orphan no parents, no friends, no one miss me, so I became part of the Alpha program they trained me and the others at a early age but I was the youngest but also the strongest in both mind and body. At when I turned six they started the real experiment, we were drugged and put on lab tables then cut burned and cut some more.


    The scientists replaced most of our body with lyrium a new metal lighter and stronger than anything even obsidian, seventy-five percent of us didn¡¯t make it another fifteen percent were unable to fight so the remaining ten percent formed a elite unit called the Alpha predator, a stupid name I know but well it is the best name that defines us. After a few more years of training we were finally sent on our first mission which ended with three dead and two wounded just because they were cocky and ran off, even though I thought they deserved some punishment I didn¡¯t think they needed to die. Our mission was really basic, survive and move to the extraction point but I changed it up once I found a rebel shipment in the woods.


    Each of the team had a job either distracter or attacker but I was both, my target was the commander I lured him away with a fake transmission and knocked him out after everyone was done with their jobs we loaded up with the rebels commander locked in the toilet after jack our gas bag fumigated it for him. sorry bastard as we were flying back we got intercepted by the shuttle that was suppose to pick us up at the other side of the mountain, at first they thought us common rebel but after we named off our security codes we cleared that up.


    Once back at base we were greeted by Dr. Green the head scientist of this project and the closest thing I have as family besides my team she took me to the commanders quarters and was debriefed along with promoted to alpha in my team now I was the leader of my own team and was ready to do whatever I needed to. I dealt with people three ways first if they were my superiors I followed their orders, if they were my friend or family I would give my life for them, and finally if you are my enemy god help you because I will show no mercy.


    As we waited for the report on the results of the interrogation of the rebel I captured we were sent on odd jobs like assassination, rescue, and escort jobs while on leave I trained and researched the others didn¡¯t get it but didn¡¯t stop me from this I studied the human body drastically memorizing every nook and cranny followed by medical treatment and survival training, soon after I got into crafting things, it was easy for me thanks to my photographic memory Dr. Green thought this was the best part of me since I could understand her work even more than other scientists. After about three months we finally got a order about the rebels.


    Turns out they were hiding in capital city on harvest a mining planet and one of the biggest trade routes in the spartan system. Communication has been lost and ships have stopped coming and going from harvest so the higher ups sent us in to investigate the worst plan ever. As we were being dropped I loaded up on everything I could carry since I had a bad feeling about this, once we were on the ground it became even more troubling the entire city was completely deserted no signs of fighting or anything it¡¯s like everyone just got up and walked away. I had three others with me for this mission jack, Charley, and scarlet, each in their own right as soldiers and couldn¡¯t ask for any other to watch my back, Charley was our sniper she could hit a flies wings a mile away, scarlet is our navigator and a hot head if you mistake him for a girl you are in a world of hurt, and finally jack the voice of reason in our group he is hard to piss off but when push come to shove he does make a lot of explosions.


    Hey boss do you know what we are dealing with?(Charley)


    No but keep your guard up I really have a bad feeling about this.(me)


    You heard him guys that includes you Jack no playing nice with the enemy.(scarlet)

    After that we stopped talking Charley started to take the higher ground jumping from building to building while covering us.

    Charley never acts nervous not even in firefights. I pulled my plasma sword out and pistol while the other two got ready.


    I found everyone and well they don¡¯t look normal.(Charley)

    As I looked up the hill I saw a human shaped form appear his skin purple, with glowing green boils all over his face and hands, his mouth covered in blood, black suit shredded, one hand a claw like from a mantis, the other was holding someones hand.


    Charley silently take him out make sure the others don¡¯t notice.(me)


    Alright.(Charley)


    I saw her laser aim directly at it¡¯s skull the next thing I know is the creature is running towards me. Damn this is why I like doing things myself ,as I was about to take it¡¯s head off I saw his head explode as he fell at my feet. I look over to Charley as she just smiles at me. I sigh and continue on our path as we came up the hill we saw hundreds of creatures surrounding the central tower there was no way we could fight through all those things.


    Alright Charley you cover us don¡¯t let anything sneak up on us but keep moving, jack you keep close behind me as back up if things go bad, scarlet you cover the rear once we get to the side alley throw a rock at one of the cars, after that we will take the buildings all the way to the central building find survivors and data on what is happening to this city then be extracted.(me)

    We all get into our motion and everything goes as plan however we had to move up a few levels because the creatures came in the buildings since there was no room on the streets. As we finally approached the last building Jack started to second guess himself with the jump between the building and behind the fence. As I heard the alarm become silent I pushed him off the edge and behind the fence. When I was about to jump I heard foot steps from the stairs as I turned I saw the creatures coming up as soon as they saw me they let out a howl and started running at me.


    I shot the two that were coming at me as I heard the horde of creatures coming to attack me I decided to collapse this level of the building so they couldn¡¯t get across. I sliced the support beams in half with my plasma sword and jumped down to street level just before it collapsed. Once down I saw the horde coming at me I run down the alley then escape in the sewers. I radio the others to continue as I head their way. Once I got right under the building I cut a whole in the floor or should I say ceiling.


    After I climbed up I went from room to room searching for my team and I found them however they tried to shoot me when I turned the corner. It almost gave me a heart attack, I also discovered they were with a old Scientist.


    So who¡¯s he?(me)


    Well he was the head researcher here.(Charley)


    We found him in the security room.(Jack)


    Damn coward hid while his coworkers were either eaten or turned into one of the infected but now he says he can help us if we take him to his lab.(scarlet)


    I nod and order my team to protect the egg head the trip to the lab was easy no infected at all just evidence of people in a hurry to leave. As we entered the lab I saw his work they were the ones that caused all this and dispersed it in the populous. I grab him and slam him against the wall.


    You bastard how many people have you killed huh how many lives have you taken?(me)


    Calm down it wasn¡¯t them they were researching lyrium.(Jack)


    Well that code on the computer says other wise turns out he was the leader of the rebel fraction in this city and used his cover as head scientist to disperse a toxin that mutates human cells into almost unkillable monsters.(me)


    So a jar head can be smart to well too late now the virus has already infected the entire planet and there is no stopping it unless you destroy it¡¯s food source oh one more thing thanks for volunteering to be my next experiment.(fucking mad scientist)


    He injects me with a orange liquid as I drop him we hear a loud bang from the entrance then see infected come running down the all luckily the doors were made to stop bullets or they would be in by now.


    Boss are you okay?(Charley)


    Please just stay away from me I can feel it in me.(me)


    You fucker where¡¯s the antidote?(Jack)


    There is no antidote if there was he would have used it to clean up this mess.(scarlet)


    You fool I wouldn¡¯t be so blind to do that your commander is the cure if he can control his new powers he can control the horde if not they will see him as lunch and he will become a even worse monster than the rest.(mad scientist)


    We should kill him.(Charley)

    I was still fighting to stay in control of my body but it was hard my senses were dulling the only thing I could feel was a endless rage telling me to kill.


    Are you crazy he should die!(scarlet)


    Enough I wont have this we are soldiers not kids now act like it, I can¡¯t return like this but you can take the data and the person responsible now follow my orders and let me do what needs to be done!(me)


    Each one looked at each other the scientist looked smug but was soon corrected by Charley punching him in the face. I retrieved all the data on the council then gave it to Charley she put it in the side of the rifle and kissed me on the cheek if I could I would kiss her right now it would be the best send off gift a person like me would get but the world isn¡¯t like that.


    My team continued to the roof as I stayed behind with the infected almost in I locked the door behind my team and sent a recording to Dr. Green.


    I know you are going to hate me for this and blame yourself for what happened to me but don''t, there was no other way you always taught me you must take the life¡¯s of others before yourself and I am doing that right now. My team will be broken but still strong it will be your job to fix it show them there is still hope in the world a future worth fighting for. As long as they live I will live as well people don¡¯t die we live on in each others memories a person dies when everyone forgets about him.     After I sent the recording I put the computer into overload and explode killing anything five meters near it. I went to sit down and wait for the end as I did I started seeing the faces of my team flash through my head I heard the glass finally break and the infected coming at me. Come on you fucks I hope you choke. Suddenly the computer explodes filling the room in flames the last thing I see before darkness is the red flames if I wasn¡¯t dying I would say they were beautiful.


    I appeared in a black void still in my gear but my skin was burnt but couldn''t feel anything from it. Suddenly a blue screen popped up in front of me.

 chapter 2 a new day

    As I was released from the black room I was in a cramped but comfortable space the tan walls let in some light as I tried to move the wall cracked and I fell out. When I tried to stand up I was met with a giant black hawk it¡¯s eye¡¯s red as blood it¡¯s beak a reddish orange. For some reason I could tell it was my mother, it looked down at me and it began to speak.

    I stand up and turn around there were three more eggs beside mine, as I looked around I got my bearings the nest is made from bones and is perched in the canopy of a forest the branches are blocking the sun and if it rains the water. As I was thinking I heard cracking behind me as I turned I saw all three eggs hatching first was the largest egg and as to be expected it was a giant chick with brown feathers and red eye¡¯s just like mom right after the two others hatched with pink feathers and blue eye¡¯s they looked identical to each other.


    Now that everyone is hatched lets get this over with, you are terror hawks the lords of the skies you will remain here for three day¡¯s after that you will have to fend for yourself and don¡¯t think I will not attack you just because we are parent and child this forest is the survival of the strong there is no room to be weak got it.(mom)

I started to chirp a melody Dr. Green taught me, I have to say this song skill was actually pretty good it even calmed me down I was interrupted by my mom landing in the middle of the nest with a horned rabbit in her mouth as she dropped it she turned to me.

    I was distracted by her long enough for the other three to eat their fill which was almost all of the rabbit I walk over to see what was left which was only a red stone that was glowing around it was the remaining scraps even though I wasn¡¯t to fond of eating raw meat I new I had to, after my meal I picked the orb up from the corpse and carried it over to mom.

 chapter 3 race

    I woke up to my mom pecking me to get me up once I open my eye¡¯s I see that I was the only one up I stare at mom wanting a explanation, the only thing I got from her was a twinkle in her eye that brought a shiver down my spine.


    Son I want to hear your song if you do this for me I might be willing to give you some tips on today¡¯s lesson.(mom)


    Figures this would happen from me maxing out the skill but come on is it like addiction or something to wake me up just to hear a small song, I start to chirp I did this until the rest got up which took about a hour, which meant me singing for a whole hour straight. Mom gathered all of us and we began our lesson turns out we will be learning how to fly since I already have the skill it wont be needed but I will play along.

    I close my eye¡¯s and fall back my metallic like wings spread out and I soaring through the forest between tree¡¯s and branches I decided to check out what was above the canopy, when I went up the sight was magnificent there was nothing that could beat it the sun shining down on the the forest that could be seen for miles. in the center of it there was a clearing with buildings as well as movement I mapped it for later, I though I would be a little dare devil I dive bombed through the canopy above the nest everyone looked scared at this before I hit the nest I put my wings out and the wind pulled me back enough for me to land safely. Mom walked up to me and smacked me in the head with her wing.

    I gave a smile, wait can birds even give smiles oh well I just proved it anyway I started watching the others try to fly which was hysterical the big chick was like a tub of lard with wings barely able to fly, one of the twins hit a tree when she started and finally the smallest of us was about to try to fly I wish her the best of luck and hope she doesn¡¯t die in the process.


    She jumped of and started to flap her wings but wasn¡¯t able to fly I looked at mom but she just sighed and walked away, what kind of mother does that? I spring into action falling to the ground my wings in to make me go faster once I was by my sister I grab her and start to flap my only free wing.

    As I let go of her she started fall for a second but ended up flying just before she touched the ground. She looked so overjoyed and started to fly circles around me along with her sister I started to laugh at their reaction then I remembered mother I flew back to the nest to confront her.


    What the hell was that were you just going to leave her to be paste on the forest floor?(me)


    Well matter of fact yes if you can¡¯t fly you can¡¯t survive it¡¯s that simple and if you keep going out of your way for your siblings you will end up like your sister.(mom)


    Well seeing how she is flying better than the other to I say it ended well for her of course she is still weak so I will be coaching her tonight I will also coach the others if they want oh and mom I want to have a little bet with you if you are up for it.(me)

Rex you are larger than the rest as a result you are slow but that can also be your advantage if you can cut someone off you can keep them behind you by blocking their way while the twins are fast and can work together as a team knowing each others weaknesses and strengths is the most advantage you have.(me)


    So what are we going to be doing to train?(Rex)


    Simple we fly in unison while doing this I will teach you your strengths and weaknesses so you can cover for each other so let¡¯s get to work.(me)


    I switched to drill instructor mode and trained them all night teaching them moves to each one of them personally at the end I got two titles.
