《The life of a ...NPC???PLAYER???(HIATUS)》 Chapter 000: Prolougue *Shit shit SHIT!!!* was what the poor boy thought as he saw the truck rushing towards his broken body. *How was it possible that this could happen TODAY of all days?* But no matter how much he thought about it or tried to think of a way out of it, there was no way he would survive this. Then everything went dark and he felt his mind slip away from his body. The last thing he thought was *If I only could have played Omnis Online then i could die happy.* While loitering around in the darkness with only his own thoughts as company he started thinking back to how this event happened. It all started 5 years ago when Presia Industries announced that they would release Omnis Online. 5 years ago Quickly turning on the TV he saw that the interview with the world leading gaming company Presia Industries CEO was just starting. This interview was revealing a milestone when it came to gaming, namely FIVR or full immersion virtual reality. The boy could barely contain himself when he heard the CEO announce that in 5 years they would be releasing the world''s first full immersion virtual reality game. While the CEO went on to talk about many different things none really stuck in the boy''s head. All he could think of was that in 5 years time he could start playing but that also meant that he only had 5 years to prepare all the necessary funds and equipment needed. He immediately started planning on how he could save up enough money to purchase the game, its components and have enough to last a few months of subscription. 3 years ago Today was the day that the prices of the game and its equipment came out. The boy was impatiently waiting for the news to know if his calculations were correct or if he would need to change his budget to afford the game.* AHHH!!!! COME ON!!!!* screamed the boy, though only in his mind since he didn¡¯t want the people in his apartment complex to think he was weird. Just as the boy was on his way to throw something at the wall, the information came out. The boy immediately stopped his angry antics and looked at the screen. The FIVR Unit which basically was a human sized pod cost €4500, the game €90 with a monthly subscription of €8. *YES!!!* thought the boy since the price was within his calculations so he would be able to afford it by the time the game came out. That meant that all the boy had to do was train and study while waiting for the years to pass. While many of his friends wondered why he suddenly paid so much attention to school and training there was a very simple answer. The boy was one of many that believed that your capabilities in the game might be affected by your physical and mental health IRL(In Real Life) so he made sure to be in top shape to get as big of an advantage as possible. 2 years ago The boy had been training for a year now in preparation for Omnis Online. He trained everything from Martial arts to swimming for physical perfection and studied everything from war strategies to politics for mental strength and to be capable to handle any situation ingame. Today he was mountain climbing and that''s when it happened...he fell. Sadly for him his climbing equipment was old and this safety line broke from the sudden strain on it. The boy fell to the ground and felt immense pain. The pain was to much for his mind so he lost consciousness. When he woke up he was in a hospital bed with his family worriedly hovering around him. Looking around at them he asked ¡°why are you all looking so sad?¡± His question was meet with silence. After what felt like hours of silence his mother asked with breakin voice ¡°ho-how aaa-are you feeling?¡± His immediate response was to say fine but when he thought about it he couldn¡¯t feel his own legs. ¡°Why can¡¯t I feel my legs?¡± he asked even though he feared the answer. At that moment a doctor came in and asked everyone except his parents to leave. When all of them had left the doctor started talking. ¡°I¡¯m sorry to inform you that your fall caused your spine to break in such a way that you will be unable to walk ever again.¡± This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. After that piece of information the boy broke down. He cried and cried into his mother''s arms. The doctor looked sadly at the young boy for a few seconds before he left leaving the boy and his parents to their sorrow. The boy fell hopeless that all his preparation were now useless. While his family mourned that their energetic son/brother would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life all that mattered to the boy was that he would be unable to play the game. 1 year ago The boy sat in his wheelchair and looked out of his window. It had been a long year during which he had managed to get over the fact of him not being able to play Omnis Online and instead he had focused on other problems. He had decided to take all the tests to finish high school now instead of being in school for another year and the final test came back today. If he had passed then he would be free to do whatever he wanted...scratch that, whatever he was physically capable of doing. He no longer looked at the gaming news so he didn¡¯t know how wrong he had been a year ago until his sister burst through the door with a gaming magazine in her hand. ¡°Stop moping around you silly little duck¡± his sister said in a cheery voice. ¡°Why should I, it¡¯s not like I have a job yet so what else is there for me to do except mope around?¡± ¡°Well for starters you could read this article and then I think you would realize what there is to do.¡± ¡°Fine as long as it makes you leave me alone.¡± he said before grabbing the magazine from her hand and quickly started reading the article in question. As he continued reading his mood became brighter and brighter until he was finished and exclaimed ¡°SERIOUSLY!!! Our physical state doesn¡¯t matter?¡± ¡°Nope you can play Omnis even if you''re crippled though braindead might be a problem.¡± ¡°Haha¡± he answered sarcastically ¡°you do know I''m not braindead right.¡± ¡°What you''re not???¡± His sister answered with mock surprise. ¡°¡±Yeah yeah, just get out will ya, I need to contemplate what I should do now with this new piece of information.¡± ¡°Kay,kay just remember dinner is in an hour.¡± his sister said as she left the room. After she left he started thinking about if there was something he could do during the remaining year until game released and he realise that he could still train mentally as well as his upper body. He had completely forgot about the final test results that would come today. While he was a bit angry it was mostly because he had according to him wasted the whole past year in pity and self hatred instead of being productive...since completing high school a year early is wasting time and not being productive¡­ anyway now that he knew he could play the game all he had to do was change his schedule a bit and he would be back on track. Back to present *Oh well not much I can do about that now* he thought just as an enormous amount of pressure was exerted onto his being. And just as suddenly as the pressure had started it disappeared a few seconds later. Then it reappeared and disappeared in a continuous cycle. After what felt like an eternity he noticed a that the darkness around him was receding and in its place a soft light was growing. After a few more cycles of pressure he suddenly felt free and was surrounded by a massive amount of light. Opening his eyes he saw that he was surrounded by giants with what looked like a happy predatory grin on their faces.Scared he tried to run away only to realise that his body did not obey him. As the predatory faces closed in he did the only other thing he could think of. He screamed his heart out. Chapter 001:The beginning of life Once he started screaming the giants seemed pleased like they took pleasure in the fact that they could scare him to death. Soon he calmed down since he was moved away from the giants into a room with childrens toys and a crib. He was put in the crib and then left alone. Now that he had a chance to calm down he started thinking about how this shit happend. Thinking back he realised that he should be dead, I mean come on who could survive getting run over like he did. Then his mind realised something. He was killed by a truck, then woke up surrounded by giants unable to move¡­ That sounded ALOT like a few of the reincarnation novel he used to read. With that realisation his mind started working overdrive. *Is it possible? Could I really have reincarnated? If so, does magic exist? Have I gone the nobel or the peasant ¡°route¡±?* All those questions and many more went through his head in a matter of seconds. After a few minutes of such hysteria he realised that it didn¡¯t really matter. All he could do was do the best with what he had been given. So he started thinking about what he knew to be true,what could possibly be true and what he should do from here on out. With those thoughts he came up with a few things:
  1. Assuming he had reincarnated there was a few things to be done.
    1. Learn the language.
    2. Find out if there is a game like system in the world.
    3. Find out if there are beast people and or elves and if so pay them a visit.
    4. Get strong. There are several reasons for this.
      1. Its always good to be strong
      2. If this is like a reincarnation novel with magic beast then strength is neccissary
      3. Females like strong men.
    5. Find out if there is magic and if so try to learn it.
    6. explore, possibly find a way home if there is one or just have fun depending on what he learns up to this point.
  2. Assuming this wasn¡¯t a reincarnation meaning its either a hallucination or a dream in which case he can pretend it¡¯s a reincarnation until he wakes up or gets medical attention since people would notice if he goes acting all wierd while he¡¯s hallucinating.
Soon after he had come up with these guidelines he felt really tired and fell asleep. 3 years later I woke up with a jolt and wondered where the hell I was before remembering.* right truck, death, rebirth* and that was all 3 years ago but I still haven¡¯t got accustomed to this life. Though I have learned how to walk and talk ,yey. I can also read though my new parents are not aware of that fact and no it¡¯s not because of some universal language shit or so, it¡¯s all because of my hard work¡­ NOT the fact that they speak and write in english..., nope not at all. The reason my parents are not aware of my amazing reading skills is sadly that they have little time to care for me. No I don¡¯t mean that they are cold uncaring parents, they love me dearly but the facts are that they have to work to keep us fed and reasonably well of. Dad is a blacksmith and mum is a chef. Now you may think that they could bring me around with them and they did in the beginning but the soon realised that I didn¡¯t need the supervision. They come home for lunch so I don¡¯t get hungry but otherwise they leave me to do what I want really. It¡¯s really nice to be able to do what I want without having to appear normal. Now you may think that being reincarnated I already have created many things and started training in magic because yes it exists but then you would be wrong. From the few thing I have been able to pick up this is indeed a planet with magical beasts. So far I have been reading about magic,blacksmithing and cooking. Well I can¡¯t read about anything else since we only have books about these topics. We only have one book about magic and it¡¯s magic for dummies which clearly states that it¡¯s impossible to start doing magic before the age of 3(for humans) because our bodies haven''t created the necessary channels for it. On other news this world is called Omnis the same as the game I wanted to play and it¡¯s about the same since both are medieval with magic. I¡¯m wondering if I was reincarnated into the game as reality. But enough of that which I have no way to find out if its true or not. On to the most awesome thing. As said humans can''t start using magic before the age of 3 and guess what age I am¡­ 3 as of today. That means that I will finally learn the basic magic that everyone can do [inspect] which according to the book is a semi active skill that in passive form allows you to see your status and in active form allows you to inspect other things. Speak of the devils here comes my parents so it seems it¡¯s time for me to learn [inspect]. ¡°Where is my little champion¡± Jonathan says. Oh right I haven¡¯t told you guys about my family have I. Well my dad is Jonathan Smith and he is about 1.85 meters which for those who don¡¯t use the metric system is 6¡¯1. He has black hair,blue eyes and is reasonably good looking. Muscular but not to the bodybuilder standard. My mum is Eleanor Smith and is 1.7 meters which is 5¡¯7 feet. She¡¯s good looking with blonde hair, brown eyes and reasonably large breasts which I have to say I have enjoyed. Lastly we have me. I am Eric Smith and well my height doesn¡¯t really matter since i¡¯m still growing but I have light brown hair and extremely blood red eyes. Now you may think that there''s no way that that is normal and that is true but I was born with a slight defect that caused my irises to become blood red. The cause was healed within a day of them noticing but luck...erm hmm sadly the effects were permanent. Oh well back to the story. ¡°Over here dad.¡± I say. ¡°Ah there you are, well are you ready to learn [inspect]?¡± ¡°Of course I am¡± I say a bit annoyed. All we need to do is inject man into you so your body get a feel for it and then you just say status¡± mum says. ¡°...really¡± ¡°yes really. now prepare yourself this might itch a bit.¡± mum says before she inject her mana into me. Now you might wonder what Mastered and F rank means. Here is a short run down. Skills are separated in 2 ways the first is ranks from F to A followed by S rank. These ranking represents how difficult and or potentially dangerous a skill is. For example a meteor strike skill would be A or S ranked skill. The second way is the skills Level. The Level represents one''s mastery over a skill and is divided into beginner,apprentice and master each with 100 Levels. When you reach Master Lvl 100 it changes to Mastered. Now Mastered does not necissarily mean that it can¡¯t be improved. Usually it means that but in cases like linguistics it means read/write and speak fluently. As said previously the ranking could also represent how difficult a skill is and that means how hard it is to Lvl it. For Examples linguistics level very easy while things like swordsmanship are harder to level. I continue meditating and filling my Mana Pool till evening then we have dinner and go to bed. 4 years later Not much has happened these past 4 years. I have continued training my Mana Pool. I showed my parents that I could meditate a year after I learnt the skill and they were amazed saying thing like genius and such¡­ No kidding I have the title Child Prodigy after all. Well You might wonder why I haven¡¯t tried using magic but the reason is simple. If you use a magic which you have no affinity with it will consume much more mana than normal, up to a hundred times more if you¡¯re unlucky or have negative affinity with that element. Yeah apparently negative affinity is a thing where you would actually take more damage and have reduced defence against that element. While I know I haven¡¯t any negative affinity if something goes wrong I could die so I decided to wait until it''s normal to start training magic which apparently is at the age of 12. But enough of that back to the fun stuff. I am now old enough to start physical training. That means I will start by helping mum and dad with their work such as carrying supplies for mum or help dad with carrying metals to the forge. I will also get some basics about swordsmanship. Apparently that is something everyone knows and trains to some degree. This is gonna be so fun. 5 years later For 5 years I have trained in swordsmanship as well as helping my parent out and I have learned a lot. I have even gained some skills in cooking and blacksmithing. I will also start to learn about magic from now on. The have a little school were a member of the church will teach us about magic. Speaking of religion, It¡¯s pretty much like how Sweden had it back home. You can worship which god you want or choose not to worship at all. The church don¡¯t mind as long as you don¡¯t commit evil acts. Now back to the fun. There will be some announcement from the oracles today that has everyone hyped. Everyone gathers in front of a big magic crystal in the town center. It is only used whenever big important messages for the whole kingdom. Currently it is showing the oracles tower. I see the head Oracle step out onto a platform. She coughs twice and then begins her speech. ¡°We oracles has perceived that the demons have started moving. Now don¡¯t be alarmed. For while they may have started to move they won¡¯t be ready for another few years. The minute we oracles received this knowledge we asked the gods for their help and the gods answered. 4 years from now our land will be flooded with gaijins. People chosen by the gods to help us. They will come and help us deal with the demons. Now we have 4 years to prepare so you better get started.¡± The second she said her last words she returned to the tower and the crystal stopped playing. The Mayor starts talking about what wewil do and yada yada yada I stopped listening. What I can¡¯t get out of my head is the fact that chosen by god templete is something that many games has used to explain players. *So is this the Omnis Online game and if so WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK. I died on the day the game was gonna be released but the players don¡¯t show up until 16 years later??? OH well, if it¡¯s true that means I can meet my friends and family again and if not then I¡¯ll just hope the gaijins aren¡¯t assholes. I¡¯ll find out in 4 years. 4 years later Now is the time. I have trained in my magic,my swordsmanship and helped my family out as much as I possibly can but now it¡¯s time for adventure. I hope I can join one of the gaijin groups and set out for beautiful adventure as well as trying to find out if they are player and if my friends are here. I have talked about it with my parents and they are okay with it. After all I am a prodigy as well as a decent fighter and low tiered magician. As you can see a few things has changed. For one I have gotten stronger. I am basically an E ranked adventurer stat wise. Though sadly I have gotten a negative affinity. It apparently has to do with my holy affinity that slowly made my demonic affinity worse though I have no problems with that as demonic magic is BAD. Well if you haven¡¯t figured it out with the message 4 years ago about demons on the move. Demons exists. They are bad,evil things that will eat us if they can or so i''m told. Now you should not mix them up with the devils. Devils are all races such as vampire,succubi etc. yeay those exists as well on a side note so does dwarfs,elves and beastmen. Now back to devils. The Devils aren¡¯t inherently evil, they can choose just like we humans can choose. Demons on the other hand only want destruction, it''s what they were born to do.Back to affinities. Affinities have opposites or at least light is opposite to dark and holy is opposite to demonic. It is said that it is impossible to have both light and dark or holy and demonic to 100%. There have been people that got them both to 50% for light and dark that is. No one has had both holy and demonic.but if they got one to 51% the other went down to 49 So apparently it¡¯s impossible to reach higher with those 2 affinites. Well one just have to choose or be satisfied with 50%. On another note I have realised that my godly birth have caused me to be a bit different like the fact I can place status points when I level up while normal people gets it auto assigned for them. I have a feeling that the gaijins will also be able to place their points. I¡¯m starting to feel like half gaijin half normal person. Now you might just want to see my skills hmm?
