《Draegish's Light》 Prologue Prologue Theworld of Draegish, named after the great god of war Orion. Draegish was once a war torn world, all races fought each other in hopes of gaining more territory, more place to call home. That all changed 100 years after, the orcs wiped out the giants. Giants held a special standing in this world for whenever they were truly in danger, the god Orion would come to help them. However, the god Orion was in a deep slumber, he received a great injury during a battle with his brother Nike. Knowing this was the case, Nike conspired with the orcs and gave them the power they needed to kill the giants. Killing the giants was no easy feat for they were the strongest race tall as mountains, and strength to match. The god Nike knowing this gave the orcs the one thing the gods promised never to do, he gave them magic. Magic was a sacred thing never to be given to the mortal races but, Nike in his rage did not care for the consequences. The orcs with there new found power killed the giants although they were the strongest race, they were very few in number only 10 giants were in existence. The god Nike however, did not expect what the orcs had planned, after killing the giants they moved on to the other races. Slowly killing off the demons, elfs, beastman, and humans this enraged the gods never had the world shook more in those years, It was as if the world it self was greiving for the races.If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. 100 years after the giants death, the orcs had come close to wiping out the other races but, on that year Orion awoke. The other gods went to him as soon as he did telling him about what Nike had done, and asking for his head. Although they asked for permission, it was not as if they did nothing during those years. They of course helped the other races in small ways making sure of there survival. Never though would they dare interfere too much as matters that directly affect the fate of the world must be brought to Orion for a final decision. After hearing of Nike''s wrong doings Orion set off, to kill every last orc in existence he had accomplished just that however, the sadness at seeing the state of the world made his heart ache. Orion never did manage to find Nike he seemed to have dissapeared all those years ago but, even though he is gone what he did to this world will never be forgotten. Orion left the world with 2 final things 1 a speech the other a gift, he had gathered all the races far and wide bringing them out of their holes. " We are leaving this world not forever but, we may never return sadness fills me from what I have seen here today. " Those words marked a new beginning for Draegish, that day would forever be known as the vanishing of the gods. 600 years after that day a small cat eared boy, around the age of 8 is seen running in the wild, with the wolves. Chapter 1 Chapter 1 The beating of paws was all I could hear around me. We had been running for over 20 minutes without stopping I was already nearing the end of my stamina, I spread my mind to reach out to all the wolve''s. " Brother''s I don''t think I can go any longer I feel as if I will pass out soon. " We wolve''s communicate using telepathy as we cannot actually talk, soon after I spoke to them the leader of our pack lead us to a small patch of shade under a big red wood tree. " Felix you must become stronger we have only been running for 30 minutes, and you already are tired. Remember the strong eat the weak in this world so strive to never be weak." Said a big black wolf he had a very defining feature however, he had a scar running on the right side of his neck to his hind leg. " HA Felix get stronger that¡¯s a funny joke Guntir, look at the little two legs I bet some of the cubs back at our nest could out run him. " This time the speaker was a large brown wolf, he had a small patch of red that was placed right in the middle of his eyes. " Oper be nice I remember when you were a cub, not even being able to keep up with your mother. " the pack of wolve''s started to howl at that remark all seemed to be chuckling, the white wolf that spoke came towards me and gave me a little nudge. " Come Felix we must be back by nightfall the others are waiting for us, you can ride on my back this one time." I gave her a nod and climbed on.This story originates from Royal Road. Nightfall was approaching but soon our home came into view, It was a section of forest that seemed walled off by red trees bunched together. This led into a big field where all the wolve''s were seen playing some sleeping others doing there own thing. Immediately once we reached the entrance I hoped off Sheila and once again gaver her my thanks. Running as fast as I could I went over to the right side of the field and ran until a golden wolf came into view, this was my mother Nia. My mother and the other wolve''s said they found me one day I don''t know much more than that as they will not tell me but, I do know that mother cannot have cubs of her own so she took me in. Approaching her I spoke. " Mother I am back from our trip. " A sweet full of voice full of worry spoke back to me. " Felix you had me worried SICK! A full day late what is with that I''m going to give Guntir a piece of my mind later making me worry like that. " " Mother please it was my fault we we''re so late, I could not keep up with the others so we had to keep taking breaks. Maybe I shouldn''t go hunting yet I''ll just slow the others down." Sadness could be clearly seen on my face I had always wanted to go hunting with the others, they spoke of there kill''s and the thrill of the hunt and I wanted so badly to be a part of it. Mother slowly came and layed next to me giving me comfort. " Do not worry Felix do not rush things before you know it you''ll be able to hunt anything you want, these things happen at there own pace you are destined for great things my child you being with us here is proof of it. Never feel sad Felix we are always here for you. " This time I could see a bit of sadness on mother''s face it was brief but I''m sure it was there. "Mother I''ll never be sad don''t worry Sheila has taught me to be strong if I can''t do it now I just have to train harder!" I gave her my biggest smile hoping to take that sadness away from her, never had I seen my mother sad but it made me hurt when I caught it earlier. " Ha what has that wolf been teaching you maybe it''s her I need to have a talk with. Anywho the little cubs have been waiting for you they want to play better go check on them, before they play a trick on you again." At those words I immediately bolted the last time I didn¡¯t play with them they put a bissle bush on my nose while I slept I kept sneezing the entire day after that. So onwards I went in search for the little cubs. Chapter 2 Chapter 2 After about 20 minutes of searching I finally found the cubs, there we''re 3 of them Hiel, Gertrid, and Siemus. There was no real way to tell them apart other than the colors of their fur, Hiel''swas a deep brown while Gertrid''s was a darker shade of grey. Siemus had deep black fur, currently they were playing in a watering hole you would think they would be in some kind of danger out here but, we''re still in wolf territory so no predators will be around here. The unspoken rule of the forest, never ever trespass another animals territory to hunt their young that¡¯s asking for a death sentence. As soon as they saw me they immediately stopped what they were doing and came to tackle me. " FELIX YOUR BACK!!! " Screamed Gertrid as she rubbed her snout on my arms. " Finally back eh a whole day late what happened did you pee yourself again like the first time hehehe. " Ah Hiel is never gonna let that go I swear it will haunt me forever. " Hiel quite don''t be so rude as I remember you also peed yourself when we all first went on a hunt together. " We all had a good laugh at Siemus''s words some more than others hehe. " Well what are you guys doing out here at the watering hole " Siemus was the only one to respond. " These two idiots ended up with honey all over there fur they won''t tell me how it happened, but I can imagine how that went down. " " I thought we had agreed no more honey for you guys, always getting too excited and fighting over the stuff." " Well I was but uh it was Hiel''s idea not mine I swear he said we could go in and out without anyone knowing. " We all gave Hiel a stare Gertrid is too nice sometimes she''ll follow the others as long as there''s gain somewhere. We spent a good 10 minutes washing the honey out of their fur, it went by faster as I don¡¯t have paws so I did all the washing really. After we were done we took a bit to dry before heading back to the fields. While we were laying there Siemus said something quite intresting. " Hey Felix have you heard Guntir is bringing in one of those two legs like you for some kind of meeting, we heard the news while you were gone his mate couldn''t shut up about it." This interested me more than anything else I had heard in a while, I don¡¯t think I''ve been this excited since mother taught me how to howl. " Really!? Did she say when this was happening." " She said it was going to happen around 2 full moons from now so not for a while. " " Did she say what it was about? " " No she didn''t know Guntir never spoke about it. " My excitement died down a little once he said that maybe one of the two legs just came into wolf territory and he wanted to talk about it. Well no use in thinking too hard about it right now. " You guys are dry lets head back to the field." With those words we got up and started our walk back. The whole way back I couldn''t stop thinking about what Siemus said and my mother''swords, its probably nothing though maybe I''m just over thinking things mother did always say I thought things through too much. Soon after we finished our meal of deer''s and boar''s the cubs saidgoodbye to me and went on their way home, as I was also leaving I spotted Sheila and went to ask her something. Just imagining it is making me shiver, but I promised my mother that one day I would be a great wolf that would make her proud, if I must do this I''ll do it with everything I have. With that I ran back to my mothers side and immediately went to sleep I was determined to start the next day Sheila gave me a path and now I am going to take it. That night I slept the best I had in quite a while, waking up the next day I felt refreshed and eagerto start running. Getting up from next to my mother I gave her a quick hug, she opened her eyes slightly and spoke to me. " Felix where are you going? It is still quite early none of the others are up yet." There was a path that led to the edge of our territory it was there for visitors, but no one ever came here so I don''t really know why we have it. '' I never really got the meaning of it but, nevertheless I am thankful for this path. Running, running, and more running it seemed like I would never see the edge of our territory I was exhausted. The edge of wolf territory came into view, you could clearly tell because the change of the leaf''s on the trees they went from a red to a deep green. In front of me was Dryad territory, the only thing I know of them is they are creatures who live in trees it is all mother would tell me. As I was about to turn around and hope I could make it back I heard a voice calling to me. " You there child cat child." I almost screamed at whoever it was I hated when people called me a cat, Guntir once told me what I was a Saber. He had told me they were once proud people of the forest that lived along side the wolves. " I am no cat I am a saber who is speaking to me." " A saber well my apologies I have not seen one of your kind for a long time. Come here young one come to me you seem tired let me give you something for your journey." " I am on no journey I am training to become stronger." This voice was starting to get me quite angry the more and more we talked. I looked around till I saw a figure coming out of a tree in the dryads territory. " You are a dryad? I cannot go to you mother told me never to enter dryad territory that you eat children. " A woman soon stepped out of the tree she was tall quite tall actually almost twice my height, she seemed beautiful but honestly I could not say. Never had I seen another two legs like me, she soon spoke again. " Eat children? HAHAHAHA. What kind of nonsense arethe wolves teaching you young one. I do not eat children and I imagine you would taste horrible. Now come eat this before I change my mind you seem tired this will help. " She held out a bright red object in front of her it seemed like food but I have never seen anything like it. Slowly walking over to her I took it from her hand and observed it. " It is an apple young one it is special only growing on us dryads be grateful we don''t give out apples to just anyone. It will give you energy and your exhaustion will vanish." I looked at her wide eye''d " Why are you giving something so precious to me I just met you. " She smiled. " My tree speaks to me telling me to help you I do not know why but I will not argue with the forest. Now go young one finish your training everyday come by here I will give you an apple for it is the will of my tree. " I could only look at her in surprise not just one but one everyday, this will be a great help in completing the task Sheila has given me. Before I left I gave her a big hug running away afterwards. " With those words Felix faded into wolf territory once again going back to his training with more energy than ever before. Chapter 3 Chapter 3 A month had gone by in a flash Felix had kept his word everyday he ran to the edge of the territory and back, he had become able to run without the use of Junpir''s apple but he still ate it whenever he could. After all the apple was delicious, currently Felix was sitting under the tree Junpir was currently inside of he had learned so much more about Dryad''s than when he first met her. Junpir had told him that all Dryad''s can inhabit any tree they are not bound to it however, they use the tree to feed off its life force, in return the dryads make the trees roots grow even stronger and allowing them to go with no water. Right now the two were talking of silly things such as why the seasons change and what the world is like until Felix had gotten up. " Well then Junpir I must go now my mother told me to be back earlier than before this time so I assume it is something of importance I will be on my way. " He could feel Junpir''s warm essence is what he calls it he does not really know what it is but it fills him inside, it''s as if he could feel her smiling at him. " Go then no need to keep your mother waiting I will always be here be sure to visit soon. " The two had become quite close over the past month Junpir had become more gentle with him since the first time they had met. Felix just gave the tree a big hug and said. " I''ll be back soon. " He had ran for a good 20 minutes before the fields came into view, something seemed different about the atmosphere everyone seemed curious of something but Felix had no idea what. Running over to his mother on the right side of the field she slowly came into view. " Mother I''m back, whats going on why is everyone looking towards Guntir''s cave." Guntir lived in a cave near the back of the fields it was the home of the Alpha wolf of the pack. " Felix put on this pelt Guntir brought it for you use it to cover your lower area, you must go to his cave I cannot come with you my child but, be safe. " He looked at the strange thing Guntir had given him It looked like two rabbit pelts put together with some kind of string he had no idea what it was. He slowly put his legs through it and used it to cover his lower area like his mother asked. " Now go my child. " She nudged my shoulder with her snout sending me off towards Guntir''s cave. " Felix in 1 moons time you will go with Fredrickback to the feline tribe you must go to a school in the human kingdom Felix, we have taught you all we can to hunt, to run, and to sneak. However, Felix we cannot teach you magic, you have a path that we cannot guide you on hopefully you going to the human school will teach you more. In 1 moons time when you go with Fredrick he will teach you to speak the languages as talking with your mind is rude among other races, as most people cannot do it only those that the forest deems worthy can speak with the animals. Fredrick here will teach many things that are necessary for you to live in with the two legs, you can trust him he had been a friend of the wolves since I was just a cub. " This was too much for me to take in I was so confused I gave him a questioning look before asking. " Must I go Guntirstaying here with the wolves is what I want." He had once told me that whatever decision he makes he will never make it unless he is sure this is the way. I sighed then spoke once more. " Okay in 1 moons time I will go with you Fredrick hopefully you will accept me." " Why of course I will accept you Felix and one last thing before we wrap things up. My daughter here will be staying with you for 1 moons time she will come with you when I come back in 1 moon." Not just me but Guntir and the girl Melony were surprised at his words as well. " You Fredrick are you sure she will be fine here she does not seem like she has it in her to live with wolves." " Guntir old friend do not worry I''m sure she can handle it" The girl looked a little afraid and worried but she did not object to her fathers idea. " Okay I will allow it Felix she will stay with you and your mother guide her as I think you are the best to her to be with, as the only other two leg here. " I gave Guntir a nod. " I''ll do my best Guntir." I got up slowly and gave her my hand, it took her a bit but she accepted and followed me out towards the right side of the field where my mother was. Chapter 4 Chapter 4 Two weeks had gone by since Melony first started staying with us, it was a bit awkward at first she can''t seem to hear the voices of the wolves. Slowly she has become able to speak with my mother though, Melony spends most of her time with her or with me. What I found odd is that she can seem to be able to hear me, but she can''t hear the other wolves, I had asked Guntir about it but all he had to say on the matter was. " One day if the forest finds her worthy she will speak with us, either that or the one she wants to speak with her trust her enough to open their mind to her." Not really understanding what he meant by the forest finding her worthy I forgot about most of the conversation. Really though I would say the strangest thing is Melony eats everyday and she cooks the food in a fire, I have been catching small animals that roam into our territory for her to cook and eat. She had come to eat with the other wolves and me when we came back from hunting, but she threw up after taking a bite and immediately went to bed after. The food that she ate smelled weird to my nose I never actually smelled something that made my mouth water, I asked her for a bite once and to be honest it was pretty good. However, I enjoy my time eating with the wolves so I catch the food for her and haven''t eaten with her since. Melony is a strange girl nothing like the other wolves or even Gertrid for that matter, she is around the same height as me so I am guessing we are the same age I asked her how many cycles she had been alive she told me 10. That surprised me as I have only been alive for 9 cycles according to Sheila, another thing is I finally had someone to compare Junpir too. Melony was pretty I knew that while not as bueatiful as Junpir she definetly was pretty. She stood 4 and ? heads tall like me her hair was a fierce yellow, her skin was tanned as if she had been in the sun everyday like mine, but her most striking feature was her eyes they were slit and a bright yellow. Every time I looked into them I felt as if she was looking past me, she also had the same thing as me 2 cat like ears and a tail to match her tail however was not as long as mine. She also told me a bit about where we were going the feline country, apparently it is a place where all felines are welcome there were other races of beastman there, but one thing she told me was concrete never ever were the elf races welcome. She also told me about the school I am to go to she is also to attend at the same time as me, it is in the human lands but it is not just a human school. The official name is World Alliance for Magical Advancement, it was the most prestigious magical school one could go to every race attended elfs, demons, beastman, and humans. Never was there to be a fight between races at this school, it is placed in the human kingdom simply because they are the most neutral race in this fight between the races. Along with all this new knowledge I learned a bit about felines, the tail of a feline determines how much mana one has this is a secret between the feline races and is never to be told to the other races. My tail is pretty big according to Melony however, I couldn''t help but sigh at that sometimes it ends up messing up my balance my tail is 2 and ? heads long in comparison Melony''s is 1 head long. Melony also told me what kind of feline she is, I ended up making her angry and she gave me a whole rant after I called her a cat. She is a lion you can tell from her eyes, explaining to me what was the difference between all the felines was a waste I ended up forgetting after we got to cats. Melony had also ended up accompanying me on my training, after the first week she was curious as to where I was going every morning watching her trying to keep up gave me a good laugh. She seemed to be trying so hard to keep up with me as if she had something to prove, but she always got exhausted after we reached the edge of the territory and were entering dryad land. When she first met Junpir she was afraid I didn¡¯t understand why until she explained to me, dryads don¡¯t show themselves to anyone other than those they are going to eat. That made me question her sanity a bit Junpir was one of the nicest animals I had ever met, but I didn¡¯t question her more maybe there is something Junpir doesn''t want to tell me and I don¡¯t want to upset her. When she first saw me receiving an apple from Junpir she almost fainted, learning some more from her I found out dryads only give apples to those they want to marry and have as their mate. Later learning this was true when I tried to give Melony a bite of the apple having Junpir scream in my ear was not fun. " FELIX YOU JERK DO NOT GIVE HER THAT APPLE OR I WILL PERSONALLY FIND YOU WHEREVER YOU RUN TO AND BITE YOUR HEAD OFF YOU HEAR ME!" And as one could guess I ran away with Melony on my back remembering to never anger Junpir again, she seemed pretty sad she couldn¡¯t eat some of the apple but, I will keep my word to Junpir and not give her a bite. Things continued like this everyday running to the edge talking with Junpir and running back with Melony on my back when it was hunting day Melony came along sometimes but, most of the time she stayed with mother. Slowly the weeks past by and I could feel myself grow sadder and sadder with the coming days, knowing that I would leave this place that I would leave my home. Sitting next to the watering hole stared into the water for hours it felt like. Finally what broke my trance was a hand touching my shoulder and a voice that was familiar to me. " Why are you crying Felix." Crying what was she talking about, then it hit me I felt the tears streaming down my face and could do nothing to stop them. " I don¡¯t want to leave this place Melony I know I must but this is my home it is where my family is." She sat down next to me before speaking again. " I know it must not be easy I won''t even try to say I understand but, it will get easier I''m sure one day in the future you will be able to return to all this, but right now you must go with us we only want to help you Felix. " This only made my tears run down my face at a faster pace. " I know that but what if one day when I want to return this place I call home is no longer here, what will I do then." I felt her hands wrap around me giving me a hug her hands tighting more and more around me. " Don''t ever speak like that this place will be here I''m sure of it, I''ll be right there with you Felix right by your side and when you want to return your mother will be here waiting for you with a smile on her face." This made me smile a bit. " Silly wolves can''t smile we howl." The two laughed at this for a bit before the sad atmosphere slowly started to go away. " Melony I''m taking you up on that never leave my side." He could not see it but this visibly made her blush not knowing what to do she hugged him tighter. " I promise" And like that the days slowly numbered down and the time they were to leave this forest was slowly approaching. Determined to move on through this challenge Felix steeled himself as he found a friend to walk this path with him. Chapter 5 Chapter 5 Three days were left before Melony and I were to leave with Fredrick, from what I understand it is a 5 days ride in a carriage which is what they arrived on when they first came. Currently I was just reaching Junpir''s tree today I would tell her that I was leaving, I didn''t know if she would be angry at me. Well all I can do is hope, walking towards her tree I lightly knocked on it before saying. " Junpir it''s me Felix." It took a while for her to respond but she gave me the same greeting as always. " I know who it is you idiot who else prances right into dryad land with a dumb smile on their face." My smile grew even wider at her words. " Well sorry for having a dumb smile at least I don¡¯t smell of bark!" " Ugh no you smell of wolves which smells even worse." We both started to laugh after that interaction everyday we had started to poke at each other more and more, its become something of a ritual. " Junpir I am leaving this forest in three days, I am going to the feline country." She could see the worry in my face hoping she wasn''t angry. " Idiot I already know that the forest has told me, it weeps for the loss of you but wishes you luck and has faith in your return." I could only smile at her words. " You know Junpir you always say forest this, forest that but why can''t I hear the forest." She gave me a light smack on the back of my head. " Once again an idiot the forest already speaks to you, the only thing you are lacking is strength and control of your mana. Once you have that you will be able to hear the words of the forest." I gave her a questioning look. " Does that mean your stronger than me Junpir?" A big smile was plastered on her face. " You have no idea, well then Felix I guess it''s time to give this to you, it is a gift from the forest in hopes it will help you walk your path." She went over to her tree and gave it a 3 light taps, some form of energy seemed to flow from the tips of her fingers. Never have I seen this energy before but I could feel it, life flowed through this energy as if it was alive just like anything else in this world. Slowly an apple shaped fruit started to come out of the tree bark, Junpir continued to pour the energy into the tree. The three of them finally got on there carriage Shilandra cursed a few more times here and there but, they had finally started going back home to the Manor. Felix could only sigh he felt the hard part was starting now but, he had no idea how hard it would be.
