《Severing The Heavens》
Chapter 1: All Of A Sudden
Huff¡ Huff¡ Huff¡
A man catching his breathe¡ a boy about 15 years of age¡
These two people, father and son, were currently running from something or perhaps someone¡ The boy couldn¡¯t understand¡ just what was happening?
Just hours ago, the boy was living a rather simple and boring life: going to school, trying to make friends, trying to find a girlfriend¡ the boy was just living his life with each passing day.
Nothing abnormal, nothing weird¡ everything was just the plain and simple reality which he had grown accustomed to.
But, somehow, just a few minutes ago¡ the plain and simple reality¡
Crumbled¡
As of this moment, with an indefinitely perplexed expression, the boy was intently looking at his father. He wanted to ask what was happening, but he just couldn¡¯t find the right words to say to his father.
He was thinking about the surreal events that happened just a few minutes ago¡
While the boy was walking on his way home, dejected with his life as usual, his father suddenly appeared before him, and in the next moment, something that seemed impossible happened.
When the boy¡¯s father appeared, the boy¡¯s father suddenly lifted him on his back, and soon¡ they were soaring.
With each passing second, the both of them ascended higher and higher in the skies which almost made the boy¡¯s heart stop beating.
At that time, the boy just stared. He stared at the scenery below him; the numerous houses, enormous buildings, highway roads¡ he even saw the vast oceans not too far away from where they were flying.
As he foolishly stared at the world below him, more than a minute passed by, and in the next instance, a falling sensation made him close his eyes so hard that his whole face began to tighten. The author''s content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
Swoosh¡
Within a few seconds, the falling sensation that the boy felt was gone, but it took him another minute or so before he could somehow calm himself down and pry his eyes open¡
As the boy opened his eyes, he saw how he was still being carried by his father. Everything seemed to slowly turn back to normal. But then as the boy looked below¡ he realized¡ that they were floating on top of a boundless ocean where only the still waters can be seen throughout any direction.
As the boy was beginning to get more and more confused and frightened by what was currently happening, the boy¡¯s father then lifted the boy in front of him which lead to the current situation.
A situation where the boy was seemingly confused if everything was just a product of his dreams or imagination, and nothing of what just happened was real.
¡°Xian¡¯er, my son, keep this¡¡± As the boy was confused, his father suddenly presented him a silver ring and placed it on the middle finger of his right hand.
Suddenly, a bright light made the boy close his eyes, and in the next moment, he was shocked to see that the ring that his father placed on his middle finger suddenly disappeared.
Shocked, he suddenly noticed that at the base of his middle finger, a tiny, black circular line perfectly meshing with his skin could be found.
When he saw this, he once again looked at his father as more and more questions popped out inside his mind. He wanted his father to give him an explanation and tell him if he was just dreaming or something.
Everything was just complex, confusing and shocking. The boy¡¯s emotions were stirred and he just couldn¡¯t calm himself down anymore.
The boy was about to open his mouth when his father suddenly held both of his hands and spoke, ¡°Xian¡¯er, I truly never expected that they would find us¡ I was truly unprepared¡ my son, I¡¯m sorry.¡±
With each word of his father, the boy felt anxiousness spreading throughout his body. True, he was clueless about what was happening. However, from the terrified tone of his father, whatever was happening right now, was something serious.
¡°Father, what¡¯s happening? I¡¡± The boy asked. He couldn¡¯t keep his mouth shut anymore. Although he didn¡¯t know if it was the right question to ask, he just said it anyway.
With a wry smile, the boy¡¯s father patted his head and tightly hugged him. As his father hugged him, his father spoke, ¡°Xian¡¯er, I don¡¯t know about the views that you have about this world. But¡ now that they have appeared, earth is not a suitable place for you anymore. You need to return to that place, you need to continue your life there¡ because that is your true home and it seems like that place is calling for you.¡±
¡°Eh?¡± With a much more perplexed face, the boy could only gasp in silence. Right now, his brain just couldn¡¯t process the words of his father. He just couldn¡¯t understand anything about everything that happened and everything that his father was telling him.
¡°I know you have a lot of questions, but right now isn¡¯t the time for it. Once you set foot in that world, the ring will reveal bits of everything that you need to know. For now, please promise that you will take care of yourself and you would do your utmost to live your life to the fullest. I don¡¯t know if we¡¯ll ever meet again, but Xian¡¯er, my dreams, my will, and the hopes that my clan could be revived, I leave it all to you.¡±
Once his father finished speaking, cold sweat dripped on the boy¡¯s forehead. In the next moment, his father suddenly pushed him.
A powerful pulling sensation engulfed the boy¡¯s body, and before he lost his consciousness, his father¡¯s voice resounded, ¡°Lin Xian, remember that you are the son of the Heaven Severing Emperor, Lin Xin!¡±
¡¡¡
Chapter 2: The Art of Severing the Heavens
¡°FWAHAHAHAHA! I have returned! Master, you have finally decided to return! It¡¯s now time to crush those damned sects like the insects they are! FWAHAHAHAHA!¡±
Waking up to a subtle voice that seemed to be filled with both happiness and madness, Lin Xian slowly opened his eyes.
Once both of his eyes were opened, a peculiar scenery of a place which he had no recollections of appeared before him.
Slowly, Lin Xian mustered all of his strength to stand up. While gazing at his surroundings, he became instantly baffled. He even rubbed his eyes twice just so he could confirm that whatever he was seeing was not an illusion.
In front of him, a place resembling a vast and boundless farmland stretched towards the horizons.
Only thing was, the grass that was supposed to be green, was now certainly dyed with the color of red. Actually, from the place where he was, towards the endless horizons his sight could reach, everything was shining with a deep color of red.
From the grass below him, to the leaves of the trees not far away from where he stood, everything was simply¡ red.
¡°Where am I?¡± Lin Xian asked to no one in particular. Confusion filled his mind as he had no idea about where he was nor what was happening.
While he was deep in thought, his eyes suddenly caught a certain something not too far away from where he stood.
It was a creature. A creature about a third of his height with long ears, a fluffy round tail, and furs as white as snow.
This certain creature definitely looked like a rabbit. But somehow, deep inside Lin Xian¡¯s mind, he just couldn¡¯t believe that such a creature was a ¡®rabbit¡¯.
Compared to the round body of a rabbit, this creature¡¯s body was thin. Aside from that, on top of its head, two very small and almost unnoticeable horns could be seen protruding. Moreover, this creature was definitely standing on its own two feet.
This was just absurd.
As he looked more at this rabbit-like creature, Lin Xian¡¯s mind instantly thought of a certain cartoon character named B***, except that this rabbit-like creature had horns, and its fur was as white as snow.
As Lin Xian was figuring out what sort of entity the rabbit-like creature before him was, it suddenly turned around. As it did, Lin Xian immediately felt his body quiver in fear as the creature¡¯s blood red eyes met with his.
Its face, its features, it was definitely that of a rabbit. From the structure of its ears, its nose and mouth, to its even whiter belly, Lin Xian knew that this was definitely a rabbit.
In fact, just like that of the rabbits in his memories, this rabbit could also be described with the word ¡®adorable¡¯.
If not for the fact that it has horns, blood red eyes that seemed to be more human than animal, and it standing on its own two feet, Lin Xiao would¡¯ve definitely identified it as a rabbit and launched himself in order to pet it.
But of course, this wasn¡¯t really the case. While he had a certain impulse to pet and hug this rather adorable rabbit-like creature, his body was still frozen in fear.
Even with all its cuteness, Lin Xian felt a terrible killing intent oozing out from the body of this rabbit. He felt that this rabbit¡¯s stare alone was more than enough to threaten his life.
Aside from that, its blood red eyed were also emitting a certain emotion, something like rage or bloodlust, that seemed to make Lin Xian¡¯s blood boil in anger.
With this perception of absolute danger, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but stand in a daze, unable to do anything.
While Lin Xian was frozen in both shock and fear, to his surprise, the rabbit suddenly opened its mouth and spoke in a language¡ Lin Xiang could understand.
¡°Hehe! Master, now that you have returned to this world, whom should we annihilate first? FWAHAHAHA¡ Eh?¡±Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.
While the rabbit was in the middle of its laughter, its eyes suddenly bulged as it gazed more deeply towards Lin Xian.
At that moment, all the hair in Lin Xian¡¯s body stood up. How come that such an adorable creature could emit such a terrifying amount of bloodlust?!
After staring at Lin Xian for a few moments, the rabbit suddenly spoke, ¡°Master, did you eat an Eternal Youth Pill? Y-You look like a child¡ What the hell happened to y-... Eh?!¡±
As it spoke, the rabbit-like creature¡¯s head looked at its own body. With a flip, something like a shard of glass appeared on its hand, and as it looked at it, its expression suddenly turned grim.
Looking at this rabbit-like creature, Lin Xian felt helpless.
Right now, even if he wanted to, he couldn¡¯t move even a single part of his body. Aside from that, Lin Xian didn¡¯t even have a single idea about where he was, and he also didn¡¯t have any information about why or how he arrived at this place.
¡°Y-You¡¯re that child?¡±
While Lin Xian was still dazed by what was happening, the rabbit-like creature once again looked at him and spoke.
But what came out of its mouth made Lin Xian even more confused. [What the hell is this rabbit talking about?]
Suddenly, from one the rabbit¡¯s fingers, a blinding light poured out, making Lin Xian cover his eyes.
1¡ 2¡ 3¡ 5¡ 10 minutes. It was only after 10 minutes when Lin Xian felt that he could finally open his eyes.
As he opened his eyes, Lin Xian saw that the rabbit was already in front of him, and one of its hands was reaching for his face.
Looking at it, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but feel that this rabbit-like creature was expressing a bitter emotion, unsure whether it was grief or misery.
Even with the bloodlust it was emitting, looking at it made Lin Xian¡¯s feel that his heart was breaking, as though he was looking at the embodiment of all tragic stories....
¡°Lin Xian¡ so you¡¯re that brat from that. Haaa¡ Now everything is clear. Forget it. With your strength right now...¡±
In the next moment, something like a dimension-hole appeared on Lin Xian¡¯s chest, frightening him out of his wits. Then, the rabbit jumped in, but before it completely disappeared, its voice resounded, ¡°Close your eyes and open your mind Good luck¡ Hahahaha, Master, you have never really given me a chance.¡±
Lin Xian was stunned as he watched the rabbit slowly disappear into his body, accompanied by the echoes of its grim and desolate voice. After the rabbit vanished completely, the dimension-hole in his chest closed, as if it had never been there at all.
Lin Xian stared at his chest for a while, uncertain about everything that had just happened. Everything had just happened too fast, that before he could even understand even a bit of it, it was already done.
[Just¡ what the hell happened?]
As this questions appeared in his mind, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but sigh.
Thinking back¡
¡°Lin Xian, remember that you are the son of the Heaven Severing Emperor, Lin Xin!¡±
These voice, these words, where did it come from?
¡°AHHHHHHHHHH!!!¡±
Lin Xian suddenly felt an excruciating pain coming from inside his head.
He fell on his knees as both of his arms clutched his head.
Lin Xian felt that something deep inside of his head was trying to burst out, slowly drilling its way towards his forehead..
Seconds¡ Minutes¡ Hours¡ Lin Xian didn¡¯t know how much time passed by. For him, it actually seemed like an eternity.
He cried, he yelled, he begged, he rolled¡ Lin Xian did everything that he could just to resist the excruciating pain he was subjected to.
At one point, he even thought that he just wanted to fall unconscious or die¡ It was so great of a pain that perhaps it would even become something that would haunt him for the rest of his life... if he actually survived it.
After an unknown amount of time, finally, it stopped.
¡°Haaa¡. Haaa¡ Haaa¡¡±
As the excruciating pain gradually disappeared, Lin Xian restlessly panted.
He lied flat on the ground without the strength nor the desire to move. Right now, he just felt so exhausted that he just wanted to sleep and get some rest.
But at that moment, when Lin Xian was about to close his eyes, a sudden realization dawned upon him.
Deep within his mind, memories that he seemed to have forgotten suddenly reappeared.
He remembered that just before he came to this place, he was with his father.
Thinking about it, the words of his father resounded in his head, ¡°Xian¡¯er, I don¡¯t know about the views that you have about this world. But¡ now that they appeared, earth is not a suitable place for you anymore. You need to return to that place, you need to continue your life there¡ because that is your true home and it seems like that place is calling for you.¡±
As the voice of his father continuously reverberated in his mind, questions after questions piled up inside his mind.
¡°My true home?¡±
After he voiced out this certain question, Lin Xian suddenly remembered the words of the rabbit before it vanished into thin air.
¡°Close my eyes and open my mind¡ there I¡¯ll find answers.¡±
Even with his body being as weak it was right now, Lin Xian¡¯s thirst for the answers to the questions that appeared inside his mind overwhelmed him.
With but a single thought, Lin Xian closed his eyes and soon, he fell unconscious as a dim reddish light covered his body.
In the next moment, Lin Xian suddenly found himself sitting¡ somewhere. Actually, he just couldn¡¯t comprehend where he currently was since everything around him was just plain black.
It was black, but it wasn¡¯t definitely darkness. Looking at his surroundings, Lin Xian felt like he was sitting in the middle of space.
Just like a planet in the milky way, Lin Xian felt like he was just there, floating unknowingly in the middle of nowhere.
¡°Xian¡¯er¡¡±
Suddenly, a familiar voice happened to enter his ears.
Hearing this voice, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but search for it. That voice and the way it called him, it was definitely his father¡¯s.
After seconds of searching, Lin Xian realized that searching for the voice was futile. In the place where he currently was, there was only him and nothing else.
Realizing this, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but mutter, ¡°Father¡ just what is happening?¡±
- Ping! -
A ringing sound echoed out, and in the next moment, a floating book appeared in front of Lin Xian.
Written on its cover¡
¡°The Art of Severing the Heavens¡±
¡¡¡¡
Chapter 3: Reformed
¡°The Art of Severing the Heavens¡±
Lin Xiang continuously repeated the words written on the cover of the floating book.
With each repetition, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but feel a certain nostalgia crawling upon his skin. Somehow, a vague feeling of familiarity presided in his mind while reading these words.
Lin Xian racked up his mind. Where had he heard or read these words? Why were these words so familiar?
Thinking again and again, Lin Xian just couldn¡¯t find any memory that he could connect with these words.
No matter how familiar it seemed to be, Lin Xian just couldn¡¯t find anything he could associate with these words.
After a while of restless thinking, Lin Xian decided to leave everything aside and just directly check the floating book.
Perhaps some of the answers to his questions could be found inside the floating book.
Looking below him, Lin Xian carefully stood up. Even if everything in the place where he was seemed to be that of a boundless space, he still felt that there was some sort of solid ground where he could walk or run if he ever wanted to.
Treading towards the floating book, Lin Xian decided to observe it more carefully.
As he got nearer, the prominent features of the floating book became even more and more visible.
The floating book¡¯s cover could be discerned as a thin brownish layer of leather. Aside from that, gold and silver intertwining lines could be found on the edges of the cover, making the book seem brilliant and appalling at the same time.
Once Lin Xian was directly in front of the book, the feeling of nostalgia became even stronger. It was as if¡ he had held this book in his arms, as though it was the most treasured possession he had in his life. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. When the book first appeared, Lin Xian certainly felt that he was familiar with it. But now that he was directly in front of it, Lin Xian understood that it wasn¡¯t as simple as that. Right now, Lin Xian strongly felt that this floating book seemed to be calling for him.
As the urge to take it into hands became stronger, Lin Xian slowly reached for it.
As soon as he touched it¡
- Zong! -
The sound of something like a gong echoed out, and in the next moment, waves of golden light shot out from the book towards Lin Xian¡¯s forehead.
As the waves of golden light entered his forehead, Lin Xian could feel a small warmth enveloping his body. It was both soothing and relaxing.
Seconds after seconds, minutes after minutes... the more waves of golden light entered his forehead, the more Lin Xian felt comfortable.
After a few minutes or so of heavenly warmth, the waves of golden light stopped pouring from the floating book and lifelessly fell on his hands.
At that moment, Lin Xian finally woke up from his daze, feeling refreshed and anew. It was a fascinating feeling; he felt that he was floating in the sky, not caring about anything else in the world at all.
He stood in a daze, basking in that transcendent feeling. Only after a few minutes did he compose himself and open book.
As he flipped the cover of the book, an ancient and overbearing voice echoed in his mind¡
¡°Death is to revere; Live is to severe! Yield and meet demise; Oppose and perpetually exist! Resist the empyrean skies and gain eternal life! The Art of Severing the Heavens!¡±
After these words echoed in his mind, cracks appeared all over Lin Xian¡¯s body, and before he could react¡
- Boom! -
An explosion resounded as Lin Xian¡¯s body burst to oblivion.
The waves of golden light which entered his forehead burst out from his body, and just like a brittle glass falling on the ground, his body shattered into thousands of pieces.
At that moment, Lin Xian¡¯s mortal soul ceased to exist. He was completely unable to do anything and unable to say anything. In fact, it was easier to describe it as a sudden death.
- Ting! -
Suddenly, within the space where Lin Xian¡¯s entire being exploded, a melodious ringing sound reverberated.
In the next moment, at the place where the floating book was once located, the golden light that bursted out of Lin Xian¡¯s body converged.
Slowly, these golden lights seemed to form an object. It started as a blob of golden sphere, then from that blob of golden sphere, head, arms and legs sprouted, making it more and more human-like with each passing second.
A few minutes later, from the blob of golden sphere, a golden human figure formed. Then from this golden human figure, physical features slowly emerged. From head to toe, the golden human figure transformed into a bare and almost identical body of Lin Xian before it exploded. However, compared to how he looked like before, this new body was evidently younger. It was less taller, less mature, and it had skin as flawless as a newborn child.
Rather than saying that Lin Xian¡¯s body had become younger, it was more appropriate to say that his body had been reformed anew.
As his new body emerged, Lin Xian was still unconscious, unknowledgeable of whatever happened inthe space-like place orthe outside world.
...
Chapter 4: Tattoo
¡°Grandpa! The boy¡¯s waking up! Hurry!¡±
Waking up to a certain cute and familiar voice, Lin Xian slowly opened his eyes.
As he opened his eyes, he could hear the sound of footsteps gradually becoming louder and louder.
Feeling more of his body, Lin Xian felt that he was lying down on something like a bed. It was hard, but a small layer of something like fur still made it comfortable.
Right now, Lin Xian immediately realized that this place was definitely different from the boundless farmlands dyed in red where he fell unconscious.
Looking at his surroundings, he noticed that he was inside the confines of something like a room made of wood. As for the ceiling where he was looking at right now, they seem to be enormous leaves which had the same crimson color as that of the plants he saw before he fell unconscious.
Thinking back, he could easily compare such a room to those of tropical huts in the sea, or perhaps even those wooden houses that could be found in rural areas.
However, he still felt perplexed. He had fallen unconscious yet again, and every time he woke up after falling unconscious, he would always end up somewhere else. Finally unable to hold his confusion and curiosity to himself, Lin Xian muttered, ¡°Where am I?¡±
¡°Boy, are you alright?¡±
Just after Lin Xian¡¯s words escaped from his mouth, he suddenly heard the voice of an old man.
Looking towards the direction from where the voice came from, Lin Xian saw two people. One was a bearded and wrinkled old man which looked to be 70-80 years old. Beside this old man, there was a tanned girl with brown hair about 14-15 years old, holding the right arm of the old man.
These two people wore some sort of tribal clothing barely covering their bodies. The old man wore an old and dirty sash that covered half of his chest, and a ragged trousers that was evidently tarnished by the years.
As for the girl, she wore some sort of an animal¡¯s hide that only covered her chest, and a skirt that was a little above her knees.
In Lin Xian¡¯s eyes, this sort of clothing would be equal to what those tribal people, who had lived some thousands of years ago in earth, had worn. To put it simply, when he saw them, he was immediately perplexed.
[Who are these guys?]
Lin Xian could only ask himself in his mind. He was rather afraid because a certain possibility occurred in his mind¡
[Aren¡¯t these guys some sort of a tribal group? If they are, then was I sent to the Amazon or something?]
For Lin Xian, these thoughts were truly plausible. Seeing these people, there were perhaps two possibilities. The bigger one being, someone was pranking him big time¡ As for the other one, he was really sent to some ancient tribal people¡¯s land and his life would be in danger if this tribal group would turn out to be cannibals or those that offer living sacrifices to their gods.
As someone who had read history and have watched documentaries about these kind of tribal groups, Lin Xian could feel a shiver ran down his spine. Soon, he felt his heart pound much faster than normal, becoming tenser and tenser with each passing moment.
¡°Boy? You¡¯re face is going pale¡ Do you have an injury or something? But I¡¯m sure I found nothing when I probed your body a while ago.¡± The old man spoke as he slowly approached Lin Xian.
Lin Xian had probably lost his mind from fear that he somehow failed to comprehend what the old man was speaking about. However, it wasn¡¯t really farfetched to say that he couldn¡¯t comprehend the old man¡¯s words.
After all, the words the old man was using¡ was definitely not a language he had ever heard before.
¡°Please lift your hand.¡± The old man spoke. As of this moment, he was already beside Lin Xian who was still trembling on the bed.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
Perhaps because of fear and confusion, Lin Xian subconsciously lifted his hand towards the old man. The old man then held Lin Xian¡¯s hand, and soon, Lin Xian felt a warmth the slowly coursed throughout his body.
¡°Your body is definitely alright. No injuries or wounds whatsoever. Do you feel anything wrong?¡± The old man asked.
¡°Hey, answer Grandpa!¡± Suddenly, the brown-haired girl walked over and spoke, her voice contained a hint of worry. Her short hair waved as she made big strides towards Lin Xian.
At this moment, both the brown-haired girl and the old man were curiously looking at Lin Xian with a somewhat anxious expression on their face.
With a fearful expression, Lin Xian somehow managed to realize something extremely important. He could, in fact, understand them. Even though the words they spoke were something he had no recollections of, he could still fully comprehend it.
It was as if those words were a part of him, like those words had naturally existed in his mind. In fact, he felt that he could naturally speak it if he wished to.
[Just what is happening¡]
¡°I-I¡¯m alright, eh?¡±
Just as Lin Xian made an effort to actually speak the language these two people used, he came to yet another astonishing revelation. His voice... his voice was so small, as if he was a child. It was filled with cutesy, making Lin Xian feel rather embarrassed, especially now that he was in front of a pretty girl about his age.
¡°What¡¯s wrong? Are you alright?¡± The brown-haired girl asked. With her current expression, it was obvious that she was anxious regarding Lin Xian¡¯s condition. She got closer to Lin Xian, sitting over the bed where Lin Xian was lying, just right beside the old man.
¡°N-No. I¡¯m alright really. Uhm¡ Where am I?¡± After a breath or two, Lin Xian somehow managed to compose himself and spoke yet again. He had yet to accept the fact that his voice had turned so immature, but he couldn¡¯t really do anything about it, so he just decided to leave it be.
¡°You are currently in the vicinity of the Yellowtail Tribe. Last night, Hanbei, my granddaughter, found you unconscious near the edge of the Crimson Prairie, so we brought you here.¡± The old man answered, narrating the events about how Lin Xian ended up in this place.
¡°Hey, did you come from one of those nearby tribes? Was your tribe also attacked by the Black Stone Tribe?¡±
Before Lin Xian could even think of what and how to reply to the old man, the brown-haired girl suddenly spoke, her voice filled with both curiosity and a subtle hint of fear.
However, as for Lin Xian, hearing her words just made him a lot more confused. He thought to himself, [Just what is the girl talking about? Yellowtail Tribe¡ Crimson Prairie¡ Attacked by the Black Stone Tribe¡]
Slowly, he repeated the more remarkable words that the old man and the girl spoke. He slowly digested it, however, after a few moments of silence, Lin Xian still failed to actually connect these words to any of what his mind could recall. To put it simply, he just didn¡¯t know anything.
¡°Hanbei, that¡¯s rude. Go outside first, let me talk with this boy and I¡¯ll let you meet with him again later, alright?¡± The old man said towards the brown-haired girl whom he called Hanbei.
¡°But¡ grandfather!¡± Hearing her grandfather, the browned-haired girl, Hanbei, instantly pouted, which was coupled with a disappointed expression.
Looking at them, Lin Xian almost let out a chuckle. Now that he had completely brushed off his drowsiness, he could observe the two people before him more clearly.
All the visible hair on the old man¡¯s body was white, and aside from the rather obvious observation Lin Xian made from when he first saw him, Lin Xian could make out something vague about this old man: ferocious.
While this old man seemed to be gentle and aloof, Lin Xian felt that the old man was someone extremely terrifying. He thought that if the old man wished to, he could easily exterminate him with a flick of his hand. That was how fearful Lin Xian felt about this old man.
As for the girl called Hanbei, her brown hair was a little bit curly, reaching her shoulders, making her look very adorable. Especially with the pout and the disappointed expression on her face, Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but feel a warmth in his heart, thinking that this girl would be a good little sister to take care of.
Right at this moment, the old man focused his eyes on Hanbei, and with a piercing gaze, he said, ¡°Hanbei¡¡±
¡°Humph!¡± With a snort, Hanbei just turned around and left the room, leaving only Lin Xian and the old man inside.
The old man looked at Hanbei¡¯s silhouette as she left the room. After a few moments, the old man just sighed as he looked at Lin Xian and spoke, ¡°That girl is rather unscrupulous, she usually does whatever she wants¡ But please excuse her, she wasn¡¯t really like that before, only, those mongrels from the Black Stone Tribe had killed her parents a few years ago¡¡±
Hearing the old man, Lin Xian almost let out a sigh as the rather funny feeling he had a while ago instantly vanished. He felt pity about the girl, and thinking back to the girl¡¯s question a while ago, he felt that the reason why the girl was curious about him was because she thought that he had experienced the same fate she had.
Getting her parents killed¡
¡°Boy, what¡¯s your name?¡±
While Lin Xian was sighing again and again inside his heart, the old man suddenly spoke, taking Lin Xian away from his thoughts. Lin Xian then opened his mouth and spoke, ¡°Lin Xian.¡±
¡°Hmm, Lin Xian¡ My name is Lu Zhen, the tribal chief of the Yellowtail Tribe, and the girl from before is my granddaughter, Lu Hanbei. A few days ago, we¡¯ve been receiving news about the Black Stone Tribe attacking the nearby tribes and pillaging. If by chance, was the Dark Crow Tribe also attacked?¡±
Once the old man, Lu Zhen, finished speaking, Lin Xian¡¯s mind blanked out. He knew nothing the place or the tribes, and because of that, he just couldn¡¯t find a word that he could use to answer the old man.
Add the fact that he knew nothing to his thoughts about Hanbei and her rather cruel experience, he unconsciously made a small frown, as if he was really saddened by something.
As for Lu Zhen, he had completely misunderstood the implication of the sad expression on Lin Xian¡¯s face. He thought that Lin Xian remembered some bad memories, so he felt the need to just stop with the current conversation and leave it as it was. It seemed like ¡®it¡¯ was truly the case, so the Lu Zhen just said, ¡°It¡¯s alright¡ I¡¯m sorry for making you remember cruel memories.¡±
As Lu Zhen finished speaking, his eyes moved to the chest of Lin Xian and sighed. Yet another tribe had fallen in the hands of those brutes. The old man clenched his fist; killing intent was seeping through every pore of his body.
As for Lin Xian, cold sweat immediately covered his body when he felt the killing intent that was let out by the old man. Truly... frightening. But right at this moment, Lin Xian noticed the line of sight of Lu Zhen, realizing that he was staring at his chest.
Lin Xian followed Lu Zhen¡¯s gaze, confused whether there was something wrong about his chest. And thhe moment he looked at his chest, something baffling appeared before his eyes.
On the right side of his chest, there was a black tattoo resembling a crow whose wings were wide-opened. However, even within the almost 16 years of life Lin Xian had experienced, he knew that this tattoo... had never existed!
¡¡¡¡.
Chapter 5: Neat Trick
Lin Xian didn¡¯t have any cloth covering his upper body, so he easily discovered the crow tattoo imprinted on his chest.
But moments after he discovered the tattoo, he suddenly realized something. He felt panicked as he focused his sensation on his lower body which was covered by something like a quilt.
He felt something like fur covering his nether regions, reaching up to his knees. After realizing that he was wearing something, Lin Xian immediately felt relaxed, so he once again shifted his gaze towards the crow tattoo.
When Lin Xian once again looked at this crow tattoo. the astonishment he felt shot off the roof. All of his life, he never had any recollection that he had something imprinted or tattooed on his chest.
In his mind, the only question was, [Just what is happening?!]
Lin Xian tried to think again and again, however, he still failed to make out anything. He just couldn¡¯t understand it¡ everything seemed real and imaginary at the same time.
While Lin Xian was still deep in thought, he suddenly felt something warm on top of his head. Stunned, Lin Xian raised his head up and saw Lu Zhen patting his head gently.
However, looking at Lu Zhen¡¯s expression, Lin Xian could feel both anger and misery, and they struck him so hard that he was also feeling the same. Just by looking at Lu Zhen¡¯s expression, he felt a seething rage burning inside his heart.
A gloomy atmosphere engulfed the room, and after a few moments of silence, Lu Zhen finally spoke, ¡°Lin Xian, don¡¯t worry, even if your tribe met its bitter end, you¡¯re still here, alive. That just means that the gods have a plan for you. From now on, you¡¯ll be part of my Yellowtail Tribe, alright? Those mongrels the Black Stone Tribe would never dare to attack our tribe, and I can assure your safety in our tribe. From now on, you can call me grandfather, alright?¡±
Lin Xian could only nod in silence, unable to utter even a single word out of his mouth. The seething rage inside his heart gradually vanished as he cleared his mind. Everything that happened were just so sudden and so out of his expectations. But although a lot of things were still unclear to him, by connecting the dots, he still had ideas about what was currently happening.
Thinking back to the girl from a while ago, Hanbei, he speculated that her parents were slaughtered by those ¡®mongrels¡¯ from that Black Stone Tribe. For that reason alone, Lu Zhen would definitely hate them to the bones.
And now that him, Lin Xian, a presumed survivor of one of those tribes that were slaughtered by that Black Stone Tribe, appeared before Lu Zhen, then Lu Zhen would definitely feel pity for him. These deep sentiment immediately lead him to accept Lin Xian wholeheartedly as a family member without even thinking twice.
After thinking through, Lin Xian felt that his thoughts were possibly the most appropriate and most logical reason for what was currently happening. He knew that, as of this moment, there was probably some sort of a massive misunderstanding between what had truly happened to him and what Lu Zhen thought about what happened to him.
However, how else could he explain it?
Lin Xian himself didn¡¯t know what lead to what. He had no idea why or how he ended up in this situation. Without any knowledge, he thought that, for the mean time, the misunderstanding must be a good will from the heavens.
Since Lu Zhen didn¡¯t really ask him anything besides his name, the misunderstanding was already stapled. He could only accept it and move on. There were a lot of questions inside his mind, but brooding over it wouldn¡¯t help him at all. He thought that it was for the better if he just follow the lead of Lu Zhen and go on from there.
¡°Lin Xian, you can go rest for now. At the side, there¡¯s a toilet. Later on, I¡¯ll have Hanbei bring you food, alright?¡± Lu Zhen said after a few minutes of silence.
Lin Xian nodded. Afterwards, Lu Zhen once again patted him on his head then walked out of the room.
As soon as Lu Zhen left the room, Lin Xian felt his body relax. The increase and decrease of his heart rate throughout their conversation had made him feel very tense, and it was only now that he felt he could finally ease up.If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. [Sigh¡ I¡¯ve been asking what is happening ever since I woke up, but I am still yet to have a clue.]
Lin Xian felt exhausted. The events that occurred to him had given him a lot of shock and stress.
Waking up to a place he had no recollections of, seeing two people that seemed to be like those tribal or indigenous people, the realization that he could suddenly speak another language so naturally, the change of his voice, the discoveries he had about Lu Zhen and Hanbei, and of course, the crow tattoo on his chest...
Too much, there was just too much that happened in a span of a few minutes that Lin Xian felt a headache.
He lowered his head, once again looking at the crow tattoo imprinted on his chest. And then he sighed again. That same question was still lingering inside his mind, [What the hell is happening?]
Lin Xian closed his eyes as he tried to recall further back from the moment he woke up in this room. A world dyed in red, a strange snow white rabbit with horns¡
[Eh? That day... was it yesterday?]
Suddenly, in Lin Xian¡¯s mind, a very recent memory surfaced. He felt that this memory had just happened hours ago.
Lin Xian recalled that while he was walking his way home, his father suddenly appeared before him and carried him on his back... before flying off somewhere.
Bewildered, Lin Xian once again recalled that scene and realized that it wasn¡¯t just a product of his imagination; they were really flying.
That day, in the span of minutes, they arrived in the middle of a vast and boundless ocean. After arriving in that place, Lin Xian¡¯s father gave him a silver ring, which then turned into an inconspicuous tattoo on his middle finger, then said some parting words before Lin Xian felt a pulling force before falling unconscious.
As he thought of this scene, Lin Xian immediately raised his right hand and looked at his middle finger. At its base, the same tattoo was still there.
[This is¡]
Suddenly, the tattoo glistened, and in the next moment, the tattoo materialized into a silver ring, completely astonishing Lin Xian.
He carefully touched this silver ring with his left hand and attempted to pull it.
However, after using a bit of force, Lin Xian realized that the ring wasn¡¯t just unremovable, it was, in fact, completely unmovable. It was as if it was a part of his skin, and if he did dare try to forcefully remove it, then his whole middle finger would be torn out of his hand.
Although he felt perplexed about why he couldn¡¯t remove the ring, he just decided to let it be. Thinking too much about it was just a waste of time and energy.
Instead, he focused his mind on how the the tattoo materialized into a silver ring.
How did it happen? Was it what they call magic?
[If it can materialize, then can it turn back to a tattoo again?] When this thought appeared in his mind, the silver ring suddenly glistened, and in the next moment, it reverted back to a tattoo.
Shocked, Lin Xian thought of having it materialize once again. His expectations didn¡¯t betray him, and the ring really did materialize. Repeating the process over and over again, he realized that, with just a thought, that silver ring could materialize and revert back to being a tattoo.
He thought that this trick was neat, but after a while, he realized, [What¡¯s the point?]
If he was perhaps in a birthday party, playing as a clown, then children would probably love it. However, in his current situation, what¡¯s the point of such a trick?
It didn¡¯t bring him any answer to his questions, but rather, it just added to the now uncountable questions inside his mind.
Thinking up to this point, Lin Xian could only helplessly sigh. With a thought, the ring reverted back to a tattoo.
At this moment, he once again closed his eyes and cleared his mind. He threw all the unnecessary and unanswerable questions to the back of his mind and only kept those which he thought would be able to give him a hint about what was happening to him.
[Father was able to fly. That, in itself, was something impossible. Father also told me something about my true home, something about it calling for me. And this ring...] Lin Xian once again lifted his right hand and inspected his middle finger, [Ah! Father said that this ring will reveal bits of the truth to me¡ But how?]
¡°Close your eyes and concentrate your mind towards the ring. Afterwards, you would be able to see inside the ring. You¡¯re its rightful owner, so it¡¯s no question that you could see everything inside it.¡±
While his eyes were fixated on the tattoo of the silver ring, a soft yet indifferent voice suddenly rang inside his head. Astonished, he turned his head left and right, trying to search for the source of the voice. However, it was to no avail. No matter how hard he searched for it, he just couldn¡¯t find it.
While searching for it, he suddenly realized that the voice was somewhat familiar, as though he had just heard it recently, ¡°Ah! The rabbit!¡±
¡°My name is Rashueli, don¡¯t call me ¡®the rabbit¡¯. Just do as I told you and keep in mind that you should never show this ring to anyone. You and I, and of course, your father, should be the only ones who know about this ring¡¯s existence. You can talk to me through your mind, however, unless there is something urgent, please do not dare to bother me at all.¡±
After the rabbit, Rashueli, finished speaking, it didn¡¯t speak again no matter how many Lin Xian called for it.
Seeing that it was futile, Lin Xian just sighed and tried to digest the words Rashueli spoke to him.
[Concentrate my mind towards the ring¡ Keep the ring a secret to everyone else¡]
As these thoughts ran inside Lin Xian¡¯s mind, he closed his eyes and directed his attention on his right hand, then on his middle finger.
Suddenly, in his mind, a thin reddish thread appeared.
This thin reddish thread seemed to be illusory and real at the same time. In his mind, he could visualize how this thin reddish thread was connecting two points in his body. One point was directly inside his head, while the other point was at the silver ring.
Lin Xian didn¡¯t really have any concrete idea about what he was doing, but something like a reflex or a habit made him focus his attention to the thin reddish thread all the way to the silver ring.
Suddenly, he felt as though his mind was moving extremely fast, and in the next moment, he just found himself... inside a boundless space.
¡¡¡¡...
Chapter 6: Our True World
The place where he found himself in was just like the outer space. It spread in all directions, and it was unknown whether it had a limit or not.
Peering through the boundless space, Lin Xian felt somewhat curious and fearful. The suddenness of what had just happened totally shocked him.
[Where am I?]
As this question was raised in his mind, something suddenly caught his eyes. In front of him, there were seven beams of light, which were arranged by its light¡¯s intensity. The beam of light which had the highest intensity was on the left, and the one with the lowest intensity was on the right.
Observing them closely, Lin Xian found out that within these beams of light, different items were floating inside.
But among the seven beams of light, only the two at the right, which had the lowest intensity of light, had the items inside them completely visible.
As for the other five, because of the light¡¯s intensity, only a vague outline of something Lin Xian couldn¡¯t make out of could be seen.
On the two beams of light at the right, an enormous book, which was probably close to a meter tall, and a white envelope, just like those that were used for mails, were calmly floating.
Curious, Lin Xian decided to go nearer, however, a sudden realization dawned upon him.
[W-Where is my body?]
Anxiousness spread all over his mind.Although he had a naturally calm disposition, he still felt panic surge from the bottom of his heart.
But then again, who wouldn¡¯t panic if their body had suddenly disappeared?
¡°Don¡¯t panic, only your consciousness had entered the ring, but you could easily reform your body with a single thought. However, keep in mind that those you can¡¯t see are things you are incapable of holding, let alone using them.¡±
As Lin Xian was about to explode from anxiousness, Rashueli¡¯s, that rabbit¡¯s voice, echoed inside his mind.
After hearing those words, Lin Xian somewhat calmed down as he digested what Rashueli had just told him.
[Reform my body¡]
With a thought, Lin Xian suddenly found himself standing on his own two feet in an instant. He raised his hands and looked at them intently, before he finally composed his self.
With a breath of relief, he walked over to the envelope, which was inside the weakest beam of light. Observing it closely, Lin Xian was fairly certain that this envelope was really like those which were being used as a mail.
Although mailing had grown less and less popular over the years, Lin Xian still had a fair share of experience with it, mainly with his school sending a mail about his grades every end of the school year.
He lifted his hand and reached for the envelope. Slowly, he opened the envelope, but contrary to his expectations, a letter didn¡¯t come out of it. Instead, a blinding light emerged, causing Lin Xian to see nothing but white light for the next few minutes.
¡°Ah, it seems that it is truly inevitable¡±
A familiar voice and a familiar laughter echoed inside Lin Xian¡¯s ears. As he heard this, the blinding light dissipated, and in front of him, a solitary man, who had his back facing Lin Xian, was standing like a mountain. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.
The man was tall and his back was broad. Looking at him, Lin Xian felt a chill ran down his spine, as though he was looking at a conqueror who had marched through hundreds of wars and won every single one of them.
Just from his back alone, Lin Xian could only think of two ways to describe the man - a Heavenly General, or perhaps, an Emperor!
The man was wearing pure white robes with a black sash on his waist. His black, straight hair reached to the collar of his robes, and just below it, a word that thoroughly shocked Lin Xian was imprinted.
- Lin -
Seeing this word, Lin Xian¡¯s shock had reached a point where he thought nothing else in the world would shock him even more. However, just as he thought of this, he suddenly realized something important, causing him to think that he had never been so wrong in his life.
That voice and that laugh¡
Surely, it came from a person he was most familiar with.
Surely, it came from his only relative whom he had lived his whole life with.
Surely, it was the voice of his father.
The man turned around, and Lin Xian¡¯s expectation had finally hit the jackpot.
Indeed, the person in front of him was his father, Lin Xin.
However, contrary to how his father looked like in his memories, a man wearing simple and casual clothing while working in the city everyday, his father right now seemed strange.
The one before him was showing the vicissitudes of life, seemingly ancient and knowledgeable, as though he had experienced thousands of years of life.
Lin Xian couldn¡¯t fully describe it, but he felt as though his father in his memory and his father right now, although completely identical, were two separate entities.
¡°Lin Xian, is that you? Hahahaha! You have truly grown alot since the time I prepared this message. Oh, by the way, I am not really Lin Xin. I am just a remnant of your father¡¯s consciousness, and my true self is probably doing his own thing, trying to hide from his pursuers. Hahahaha!¡±
As his father was speaking, Lin Xian kept his mouth shut. A moment ago, he was filled with an eagerness to voice out something, however, when he heard the words ¡®a remnant of your father¡¯s consciousness¡¯, he deliberately stopped himself, deeply pondering about the meaning behind these words.
Since Lin Xian kept silent, Lin Xin just smiled and continued speaking, ¡°I would have never thought my son would grow up just like his mother, calm and composed. Anyways¡ Oh?¡±
Suddenly, Lin Xin stopped speaking and raised his head. His face turned sour, and with a voice filled with complicated feelings, he said, ¡°Rashueli¡ I, no. You don¡¯t need to hear anything I will say right now.¡±
- Crack! -
The moment he said those words, just above him, an enormous crack appeared, and it appeared as though the entire boundless space was about to collapse at any moment.
But in the next second, the cracks suddenly disappeared, and everything reverted back to normal.
Then, a voice echoed out, ¡°Hmp! I know that once you have finished talking, you can return back to him. Tell Lin Xin, that old food, that I will settle the debts once I have fully recovered.¡±
As those words reverberated in the boundless space, Lin Xin suddenly sighed. In his eyes, emotions that signified pity, grief and sadness appeared, as though he was recalling one of the worst memories of his life.
After a minute or two of silence, Lin Xian, who kept his mouth shut since his father appeared, stared blankly at the figure of his father.
He once again found himself in a place where he had no idea about what was happening.
Fortunately, Lin Xin finally broke the silence, saying, ¡°Lin Xian, the person whom you should treat well the most in your life should be Rashueli. That aside, I know you are currently confused, completely unknowledgeable of what is happening to you. However, you, opening this message and meeting me here only meant one thing.¡±
He paused and continued, ¡°You have returned to our true world.¡±
[Our true world?] Lin Xian couldn¡¯t help but repeat those words in his mind. He thought that one of the greatest hint to the answers in the countless questions in his mind was, perhaps, these three words.
¡°In the universe, there is an infinite amount of worlds, and these worlds are what we would call as realms. Earth, for example, is one of them, however, it¡¯s only a small and insignificant part of an entire realm. Does it sound confusing? Well, I won¡¯t delve too deep on that topic, because you¡¯re not really capable enough to understand it. Anyhow, all you need to know is that our true world, the Luminous Sky Realm, is one of those infinite worlds that exist in the universe, and you seeing me in this place would only mean that you have finally returned to our true home.¡± With a smile on his face, Lin Xin spoke of something way too grand for Lin Xian¡¯s mind to comprehend.
Lin Xian, who had his mouth agape, was completely speechless. He had always been thinking that perhaps there were other worlds beside the world he had been living in, but now that he had heard it from his own father, he just felt that it was quite unbelievable.
¡°If you can¡¯t completely understand what I¡¯m saying, then you don¡¯t need to force yourself. In time, you¡¯ll know more of the secrets behind the universe. Anyways, the reason I prepared this message is because once you arrive in the Luminous Sky Realm, perhaps you would find yourself in a world that is completely different from the world where you have been accustomed to. But fear not, I have already prepared everything, and now, unless there are unforeseen circumstances, the Tribal Chief of the Dark Crow Tribe, Lin Chongwei, had already adopted you in his family. He¡¯s quite eccentric, but he¡¯s a really nice guy, right?¡±
¡°Eh?¡± Question marks seemed to appear in Lin Xian¡¯s eyes as he stared at his father in confusion.
Observing Lin Xian¡¯s expression, Lin Xin furrowed his brows and asked, ¡°You have never seen nor heard anyone named Lin Chongwei?¡±
Lin Xian nodded.
¡°You are, at the moment, not in the Dark Crow Tribe?¡± Lin Xin once again asked.
Lin Xian once again nodded.
Seeing Lin Xian nod twice at both of his questions, Lin Xin¡¯s furrowed brows returned to normal as a sigh escaped his lips. He finally understood what had happened.
¡°Once we have separated, you suddenly found yourself at the periphery of a forest dyed in red, the Crimson Prairie. Is that correct?
¡°Yes.¡± Lin Xian affirmed, causing Lin Xin to heave yet another sigh.
