 Prologue

    If one of my classmates asked me "Maki what doyou think ofaliens", I would say "I don''t care to be honest. I''m not the one who haskill them".


    One day they came and started invading the earth.They just came, that''s all. We don''t know what they want, or why they are here. They can''t talk, so we can''t communicate with them.


    It works like this here: The invader comes from the sky, their "space ship" is an egg by the way (it can be either small, medium or large. It depends on the level of the monster), yes, an egg, It stays under our surveillance till it hatches (it can take minutes, hours or days), and the alien comes out. Our duty is to kill it before it damages the city or harms people. They always land in the school''s yard. Always. There must be something that attracts them.


    Don''t ask me why we kids have to kill them. Adults could do it! It is more dangerous for us! Nevermind, even if we asked they wouldn''t answer us. Isn''t it unfair? We could lose our lives, and they wouldn''t do anything! Why would them let us die, we are just kids.


    So, how do we kill them? We use Paxes. A Pax is a creature sealed in our soul, teachers can unseal it. Unless you aren''t chosenin your school to kill the aliens, you won''t get to see your little creature until you die. Every human has a Pax, and every Pax has a unique ability. The ability depends on the element of the Pax: Fire, Water, Light, Dark or Air.

    I wake up in my small, pink room filled with anime posters of magical girls. I love magical girls! They always defeat the evil with their mysterious magic. Aaaaah they are super cool! I would like to be a magical girl too! Everyone would be envious of my powers eheh, oh no wait, I would have to keep it a secret! Anyway, in my room there''s a computer on the desk, a lot of peluches, a mirror and a wardrobe.


    I stand up, the cold floor gives me shivers. I look at myself at the mirror. I pinch my cheeks...it didn''t work, I still am sleepy.


    <Aaah, my hair is very messy today, what do I do??>


    I quickly get dressed as I wash my teeth. I tell to myself not to panic, and that everything will be alright this year as well. I don''t know why but I feel like something will go wrong today. I do breakfast and I run as fast as possible to my new school, I''m very late!


    The entrance ceremony begins. The principal talks about boring stuff"We hope you''ll find new friends..." bla bla bla "...try to give your best at school..." bla bla and other stuff. I look around me. The students are fewer than last year, well I can''t blame them. everyone is scared, even their parents are scared, both for the aliens and for their kids'' safety.

    We were taken in a large hovel. The hovel had 2 beds, 3 computers with informations about aliens. A lot of phials containing weird liquids I had never seen. A door, I tried to open it but it was locked. The bathroom was separated from the hovel. So you have to go outside huh? The other girl looks fine with all this. I''ve got to say that she is beautiful. She wears glasses that fit perfectly with her two bluesky-color eyes. She has full lips and big boobs, short purple-black hair and a serious look.


    The teacher who took us here, tells us to lay down on a bad, so that she could unseal our Paxs. I''m so nervous, I''ve never seen one, I don''t even know how they are. I hope it will be a water type, I like water. I drink a lot of water every day, I''m always thirsty.


    I lay down on my bed. The teacher touches my back gently (while saying unpronounceable words) something like a massage, and then starts pressing on my backbone. Seals appear and...crack I lose consciousness.


    Pitch dark. I can''t see anything, I can feel my body, I feel observed, I start running but I fall in the dark. Something grabs my feet, I try to scream but I don''t have voice. There''s no sound in this empty place. Like quicksand, it pulls my body down. I can''t think straight anymore. I start fidgeting, I throw punches to the floor but my hands get pulled down as well, I can''t move anymore. I cry and lose all the hopes I had. I close my eyes, I try to relax. I think about my family: my little sister, my mom, my dead father. Why do I think about them? Is it because I''m dying...aaah bye bye world.


    I regain consciousness but I can''t stop screaming. I look behind me, there''s the teacher and the other chosen one.Oh, she lost her serious look. Is she scared?


    <Relax Makoshi, you passed out, it''s normal. Congratulations! You passed the exam!>

    A weird living being appears in front of me. It looks like a ball, a black ball made by a lot of lianas twisted on themselves.
