《Slime migration》
Chapter 1: The start of a deadly game
¡°Everyone, this will be a long trip so settle down. Don¡¯t start eating just yet, we don¡¯t have that many plastic bag to go around¡±
¡°Yes Miss¡±
A soothing voice can be heard from the front of a certain school bus. The voice was from Chloe, the substitute teacher responsible for class 11-E on their final school trip. There were 2 buses following behind, and god know how much sound others are making just basing on this bus alone.
After calming the rowdy class down, and securing a seat next to the bus driver; Chloe sat down hugging her coat close to her body, put her short wavy hair behind her ears and slowly fall asleep. It was a chilly morning, the school contacted her just last week to fill in the spot for Mrs. Sarah since she contracted a disease sometimes not long before that; it was indeed bad luck for a newly graduated teacher to lead a class that is not her own on a school trip that is so far a day and will last for at least a week.
Chloe has a lot to do being the new teacher and all, coming with the new class syllabus, marking exams, etc. Something that she¡¯s still learning and preparing to one day secure a permanent teaching position in the school. Not that it was hard to do; since she was quite popular with the student, seeing how attractive and young she is compare to most ¡®senior¡¯ teacher whom started teaching since the school was still in construction.
It will be two more months until her 21 birthday, Chloe in doing extra work for others teacher hoped to get a week off to celebrate it with her mother who lived quite far away from where she is currently working.Being 21 years old, and having a quarter of Asian blood and the rest white, Chloe was an extremely beautifully female in every sense. Having curves in all the right places, and waist so small as if inviting males for a long satisfying hug.
Despite having such a seductive body, Chloe diamond-shaped face was like a work of art itself. Round and innocent looking brown eyes as if demanding protection from a male at all time. Accompanying with a beautifully shaped nose, red moist lips and alluring eyelashes, one couldn¡¯t help but take a breath every time they take a glance at her face. That¡¯s right, with such a gorgeous looking face, it is hard to look straight into her eyes while starting a conversation.
Her jade like skin due to working in door most of the time has attracted countless love confession and flirting from college students and others alike. How could teenage boys resist the charm of an older girl teaching their class, especially one so pleasing to the eyes like Chloe. The bus driver couldn¡¯t help but sneaking a peek at Chloe tired sleeping face. Being in the job for a few years¡¯ now, it was his first time seeing such a young and pretty looking teacher.
Although having no makeup on her face, albeit only lip balm and face moisturiser, Brendan the bus driver couldn¡¯t help but wonder why such an attractive young lady would choose to be a teacher in a small school such as Grand High. While looking in the rear mirror, he met a bunch of sharp looking pairs of eyes, and divert his gaze back to the road. It looks like some male students notice him looking at their goddess, and express their hatred toward whomever dare to sneak a peek.
That¡¯s right, hatred. Class 11-E was known for their rate of absence and leaves from a student. It was not a bad class really; it¡¯s just their teacher Mrs. Sarah was more of a housewife of an inn than a teacher. She loves to gossip, and is a very nice person to converse with, most of the time really. Since the town they are living in are although prosperous, but it¡¯s still a town. Everybody know each other. Students who doesn¡¯t want Mrs. Sarah to talk about their parent often skip her class.
Yet everyone showed up on this school trip, why? It¡¯s because it is a known fact that Mrs. Sarah take a sick leave around this time of the year to visit her daughter family leaving so far away, and will usually be replace by a substitute teacher. There is a very high chance that Miss Chloe will lead their class on their final excursion, this will be like an early Christmas present. The boys held that small glimmer of hope until the school trip begins.
Satisfy that the bus driver diverts his gaze, the males resume their original activities. Whether it¡¯s hanging out with their mates, playing cards or video games. Some people at the front even quiet down so their goddess would have a relaxing sleep. It¡¯s not exaggerate to say they were worshiping Chloe, but it can¡¯t be help that their substitute teacher is like every teenager dreams come true. The female students ignore this as usual. Boys are so stupid they thought. Sure their teacher is quite good looking, but it will trample their pride if they admit she¡¯s better looking than them. Not every girl thought of this of course, but seeing that Chloe is such a sensible person and easy to get along with, they didn¡¯t mind the boy¡¯s idiotic behaviour.
Amongst the worshipper, there was a unique male student, and that is Kip. Kip dad being the town only doctor¡¯s is held in high regard by everyone in the town. His dad studied his medical degree somewhere in the city where he met his wife. Due to the sickly condition of his wife, they moved back to his hometown after giving birth to their only son Kip. Kip grow up being loved by his parents. He was a smart and energetic boy, although not as popular the school football team captain or the school jocks, no one bothers him much since his dad is a doctor and they might get treated by him one day.
He inherited his good look from his mother, and his charming smile from his dad. He has a lot of friends due to his easy going attitude, he doesn¡¯t hang out at one place for long though, due to him getting bored of conversation from people his own age. Kip loved to play games and read books, but that doesn¡¯t make him a nerd. Who came up with that word anyway he thought, dad loved studying, and look where he is now, a respected member of society.
That doesn¡¯t mean Kip can¡¯t do sport. If there is one thing he loves to do, that is swimming and running. He joined both the club for access to the tracks and swimming pools, the teachers don¡¯t care much about those activities since the school provides no scholarship toward those two sport. When Kip was a still a young boy, he once overheard his sickly mother told his dad she loves seeing her son being so energetic, running around the yards, pretending to be a superhero as such. Maybe that¡¯s why he joined the two sport club, wanting to make his mother happy is his number one wish. Until she passed away 2 years ago.
His mother was an artist, she loved to paint due to her not being able to move around much. Kip learned of colour and the beauty of life through his mum. He wanted to experience life more than what the small town in his life can offer; and that¡¯s why he read, love and learns. He received a lot of love confession over the years, but never accepted any of them. He just hasn¡¯t found anyone like his wonderful mother is to his dad.
After his wife passing, Kip dad did not become devastated and loose his love on life, but remained a dutiful father due to it being his wife final wish. Kip wanted a love like that, he never thought he would find one if he persists a life in this town. That is until he met Chloe. Ever since his mother passing, Kip turned colder and seemingly detached to life. Slowly drifting away the group of close friend he spent his childhood with.
"Why does it matter if I have friends or not anyway". The person he loved most just wasn¡¯t there to witness him grow up.
It was as if he got strucked by lighting on their first meeting; there was just something about Chloe that make him felt madly in love. "She''s the one for me. Mother, are you seeing this. I think I found another person I could pour all my love too" Kip thought after he first saw her entering the his classroom as a substiture teacher.
It was a sweet kind of love, one sided maybe, but sweet nonetheless. He has made sure the classroom always stayed clean whenever he has a chance of having Chloe in his class. Helping her carry heavy box of textbook etc. Little things like that. There is always competition of course, but he doesn¡¯t mind them. What is meant to to be will happen sooner or later.Reading on this site? This novel is published elsewhere. Support the author by seeking out the original.
Kip was a bit weird that way, she was older that him by four years after all. He doesn¡¯t mind the difference through. He was quite tall for his age 1.8 metres at least, athletic and muscular on the thin side. Kip hair of a strong mix of brown colour, with a pair of youthful green eye that seemed mischivous at first glance. He looked handsome and a little older than his real age. His face reminds him of his mother so much that it pierce his heart whenever he looked in a mirror.
He was seating halfway in the bus, next to a window. The buses were travelling smoothly on a seemingly never ending concrete road, but the landscape were becomning a darker shade of green by the minute. The trip destination was setting camp in the dense natural pine forest after all.It was a fresh change of pace for him. The students are allowing to bring snack for the campfire, aside from that, fresh change of clothes and necessities and all they need to bring. Nothing much really, the food and everything else is provided by the school.
¡°Hey man, can I borrow your headphone, I forgot to bring mine¡± The boy sitting next to him look awake now and was in need of something to do. Kip nodded and pass his headphone to the boy slowly; it''s not like he needed it anyway. Once they arrive there will be nothing there to charge the electronic devices with he thought. That was when everything started. A buzz rang in his head, and a panel popped up in front of him.
|
SAKU RESUE YITCHS MAKED JUEID
CMAIO LOTa CPaod 10:00
|
Kip was quite surprised, so was everyone around him. Nobody knew what that panel was. Even Chloe awoke from her sleep, looking as confused as everybody was. Kip suddenly had a bad monition. This can¡¯t be natural he thought. This kind of event simply can¡¯t exist, it seems everyone can see the message, but only their own message.
From other perspective, it looked like Kip was just staring into space. There was a commotion starting everywhere, even on the other 2 bus. It appears everyone can see it, even the bus driver. The vehicle came to an abrupt stop. And people keep looking around for information.
Kip thought to himself: ¡°What kind of technology is this, how can this be happening, is this a dream¡± He punched himself on the on his calf, hoping that it was a dream. But the throbbing pain told him otherwise. His punch seemed to surprise other people, giving him weird looks.
He didn¡¯t waste time asking around. However, he had a bad feeling something terrible was going to happen, due to the countdown. It was then he thought ¡°If only these would be translated to English¡± Another buzz sounded in his head. The message blinked twice and appear as follow
|
Try to survive human kind
|
|
Your world ordeal has come
Find your own path: 7:46
|
It was then that he received a really bad premonition. He has seen those kind of things before. He didn¡¯t know what they are but from all the kind of movie and novel he has seen; they usually aren¡¯t good. Like final destination and stuff like that. The countdown is blinking fast, he had to do something quick. He looked around, and an idea popped in his head. He put his hand up and clapped loudly above his head. Once he had most students¡¯ attentions, including Chloe of course.
He said loudly¡°Everyone, listen to me. I won¡¯t say it twice. Do not interrupt me because I¡¯m only giving you a warning. I know every one of you can see the panel here, think in your head of translating this in English, and it will be readable. Now, if I¡¯m right, something bad will happen when this countdown end, I don¡¯t know what it is yet, but I don¡¯t recommend you staying confined in this bus when it happen¡±
He stopped, looking around at people astonish face as they tried to translate their own panel. A jock stood up, one hand hugging his girlfriend, he appeared worried, and ask Kip ¡°Hey, do you know what¡¯s going on, why are you trying to scared us like this?¡± Kip didn¡¯t know but he currently has a tense expression on his face. ¡°Look, I am also clueless as to why this is happening.
But my intuitions are usually right. That message content is quite foreboding, and the countdown is not hinting as anything good. My guess, this should be some short of warning, just like what I¡¯m doing right now. I suggest you leave the bus for now, and prepared for what is to come okay?¡± It was then the buzz appear again, and a new panel pop up

The jock stood still, seemingly upset with Kip answer. Conversation started all around him. Kip couldn¡¯t take his this time for granted, grabbing his hiking bag he walked straight to the front of the bus and then outside. The driver didn¡¯t stop him. Based on what happened, he had an idea of what is happening. And it was nagging at him, telling him to run away as far as possible.
It was his favorite light novel genre. The world started turning to an RPG game, and everything usually go to crap. If the first message become reality, Kip knows he had no way of knowing if he will survive or not. But he knows he wasn''t any safer here, people would become a hindrance. He noticed Chloe started to follow behind, along with the rest of the students. The countdown is at 4:06 now, there just aren''t enough time.
¡°If you guys want to survive. I will now tell you something. What will come soon will be a sort of test. If I am right, what come soon will be a sort of game. I can¡¯t give you anymore hint due to the time constraint; I hope you will try to understand.¡± Kip warned his school mates. Before anyone could say anything, he ran straight into the forest. Due to him being in the track club, no one could catch up him even if they tried. No one did anyway, since everyone were still in a state of confusion.
A few people seem to understood his warning, especially those who so called nerds that everyone looked down on; so they quickly packed their stuff and started running as well. Kip didn¡¯t look back; he knew he needed to find a safe place to test what he is about to do. Only 1-minute remaining, Kip was running like a madman now, he didn¡¯t dare to slow down until his breath become so ragged and his entire back covered with sweat.
Kip spotted a small stream ahead. Following the stream, he found a small waterfall that was so beautiful he momentarily forgot about the impending crisis.
"Wait a minute" he thought "Doesn¡¯t waterfall usually have cave inside them". Not much time is left anyway, he quickly ducked under the water screen, to his surprise, there was indeed a cave inside, almost the side of a decent living room. The moment he entered the cave. An earth wake started out of no where. A buzz ran out in his head, he was starting to hate this sound now. Having only a few second to read the message, Kip was made to fall unconsious by unnatural mean.

Chapter 2: The birth of silver slime
It was around 11:00 am when Kip fainted. When he wakes up, aside from a slight headache, everything on his body seem to be attached.
He peered out side the waterfall, fresh water from the stream splashed a little on his face, seemingly refresh his tired mind. It was afternoon based on the light outside, or what he Kip assumed it to be. To be honest, he is in a massive state of confusion right now, since he has no idea what he is looking at.
The stream wasn''t syrrouned by a fine forest anymore; no, it was and actual jungle, the kind you see on documentary films. Not only that, the plants and animal had mutated into species he has never seen before.
Kip spot small flying white snake drinking water from the stream, it has two little angelic wing spread near the neck, purple spot all around it¡¯s body, an extremely bizarre looking animal. There was also large herd of dangerous looking bulls that he was too scared to look at, seemingly worried that it might see and eat him on the spot.
He quickly snoops back into the cave; to process the information he has acquired as well testing his hypothesis before all this started.
"So I was right after all. Either he was teleported into a competly different planet, or earth had merged it self with another with an RPG system. He took a deep breath and think spoke a command in his head ¡°Status¡±.
A minute pass, and the expected panel did not pop up. "This is strange, if this is like those game and novel that I¡¯ve seen; that would had opened my ''character stat'' Kip mumbled. As soon as he says that, a screen pop up:
"What, I don¡¯t understand. Is this actually a game, why would I name myself when I already have one?" Kip rubbed his chin, seeminglt deep in thought. He wasn¡¯t going to blindly entering his real name straight away. Putting Kip down could be a disaster in depend on a few sceneratios he thought of. For example, based on what he had seen outside, in the future, Kip might be forced to defend himself looking for food and resources. If some other students decided to go crazy and attack him, in the worst case, he could die. But what if he killed them, and his name show up when the corspes were examined.
Kip was that type of person, he was suspicious, but weren''t paranoid. In situation where life and death matter upon a decision. Kip would bite his tongue thinking over and over until he arrives to a suitable conclusion.
This was why he ran away from the bus in the first place. The currenttly ''safe'' base were the result of his quick mind. If he had stayed on the bus, if the cave was somehow found by others, he wouldn''t even have the chance to stay there. But the most important question remained, why did he leave Chloe behind?. He wasn¡¯t cold blooded when it came to his own survival or anything like that.
First of all, Kip wasn¡¯t close with Chloe, and given her situation, who would run away with a random person of the opposite sex when disaster strike. Given her nature, she would not leave other students behind, she was a teacher after all. With those explanations, Kip decided to get stronger first, to learn more about this world before could came back and rescue her. It would be fine even if she started hating for doing so, there was no point arguing that strength is all that matter in a foreign and dangerous world.
Although it pained him to do so, he didn¡¯t¡¯ give himself any excuse and ethched in his mind that he would never forget what happened today, and would never let it happen again. As soon as the thought came, a buzz appears in his head, and a screen panel pop up

He didn¡¯t know whether to laugh or cry, it was like the system was making fun of him. Nevertheless, he decided upon his name, something that will make him appear like a monster and player at the same time. Something unique, he decided to name himself: Silver Slime.
That¡¯s right, that was his world of Warcraft account name, and it will also be his destiny from now on. That doesn¡¯t mean he wanted people to called him that right now through, it a bit embarrassing to be honest. Now that he named himself, he tried status again; but that didn¡¯t work, so he repeats what he thought out loud before ¡°character stat¡±

There are a few things he could concluded from seeing his status screen. Firstly, the game even confuse his race based on the name he has chosen himself. If that is the case, does slime gender actually separated into male and female?. He didn¡¯t want to think too deeply about this. Secondly, this in game stat is way to realistic, it was exactly as he imagines.
His stat wasn¡¯t too great, given he was only level 1. But it was nice to know that you can raise stat without levelling up. He will have to work on that if he wanted to become strong quickly. Moving on he wanted to check out the only skill he has. He said out loud in his heart, ¡°foreshadow¡± and felt the spell magic activate and linger, draining his mana, and come to an abrupt stop as if waiting for him to ask a question. Since he only has 12 mana, he could only ask 6 question right now. So he decided to test it out as follow.
Is this world still earth? Uncertain
Is death permanent? Yes
Can I learn skill from doing stuff? Uncertain
Is the monster dangerous? Uncertain
Will there be help for new players? Uncertain
Is this a safe location? Uncertain
Those six question gave him a bit of insight on a certain situation, he noticed that foreshadow has grown to Beginner level 2. That was quick. And he also has 6% of experience on his character. This skill is an excellent skill Kip thought. In certain situation it could really help with his survival greatly.
He still wanted to stay in his current space, since uncertain mean it was vaguely safe, the danger would probably be the monsters outside drawned by the stream. And not all monsters are bad too based on the his fourth question, maybe he could take tame strong pet he thought, but that would be too good to be true for now.
Moving on, he thought about how he could acquire skill, one very important skill in particular, ''Identification''. Without this skill, he might as well be wearing good looking rag and think it was a legendary equipment. Also, when meeting an unknown monster, the skill could perhaps show of their special characteristics, monster stat and health, hit point etc. He knew he didn¡¯t have this skill because nothing seemed to appear when he glare at the snake and bull monster outside, so he assumed he needed to get the skill himself.
Looking around, he picks up a rock and said out loud ¡°Ah, what could this be, it looks like a rock to me¡±. He continued this while further exploring the cave. It turns out the cave was much bigger than he expected, and it has 2 entrances. One being the stream, another came out of a hollow tree 10 metres away. What a perfect base he thought, he wonder why was was so fortunate depsite his luck stat being zero.
Not to mentioned he always has access to safe drinking water. He was picking up another tree branche when a notification starts up

Kip was quite excited, it looked like he gained a new skill without doing a lot work. It wasn¡¯t rare but was still a skill nonetheless. It would be unfair if everyone has identification by defalut. There would be no use for jobs and professions such as enchanter, blacksmith, tailor and such; if they existed in withing the system. It seemed like the skill was passive, so has no idea how it works. He picked up another branch, and unlike his previous tries, a panel poped up
|
A branch from nearby tree

"What on earth, could it be any more obvious". As he voiced his frustration, he thought to himself this was sufficient for now, albeit a little crude skill. But he believed that with time it will evolve to something amazing, or at least useable.
He walked back to where he left his kiking bag and opened it, taking out the stuff he had inside out to prepare himself for the coming days. He counted counted 2 box of salted crackers, a box of chocolate (For Chloe of course), few cans of Pepsi, a water bottle container, a bundle of rope (he didn¡¯t know why, just thought he needed in case of ... umm. emergency!!! That''s right, he might need to secure himself while climbing down a cliff or something) and a few changes of outdoor clothes.
"Hmm, and I thought this much was enough" he gently complaned.Unless Kip wanted to live on cracker for the remaining of his life (which was not long based on the bountiful amount of crackers in those two boxes), he needed to find some food, and soon. But not anything meat related of course. Starting a fire in a middle of this jungle was like asking for a monster backstab!
Kip washed and changed into his camping gear, it was much more comfortable than the school uniform he donned before. Leaving through the seemingly more safe tree entrance Kip ventured deeper into the wood, marking his way for a safe return trip as he does so. He brought alone only the bundle of rope; it''s not like he had anything else useful anyway. Picking up a stone here and there to increase his observance skill, the monsters he walked past wwere either too fast to catch or too scary for him to pursuit.
About half an hour when he noticed the sun setting, a beautiful red colour iluminated the errie looking trees around him, he knew he must delayed this exploration until tomorrow. Night was coming after all. Kip was prepared to turn around; however, he heard a strange sloshing cry of monster and directed his gaze toward the origing of the sound, only to find a strange area seemingly cleared of all life forms.
Slowly sneaking to the opened space, Kip spotted monsters he knows very well, since they shared the same name as him afterall. He ran into a bunch of slime!!!
He backed up slowly and hid behind a tree. It didn¡¯t look like they notice him, the slimes were greedily consuming eveything in sight. Leafs, tree branches, even other small and medium sized monsters.
The slime appearance shocked Kip. "That is a slime??? But they looks no different than a condensed mass of green jello. Moving around by oozing in that direction, the slime was half of Kip size. However generic their appearance maybe, that''s sizzling sound when their body come into contact with anything leave a strong impression in Kip mind. The monsters appearance were quite deceitful.
After 15 minutes of observation, he notices the all the slimes started moving into the same direction as it get dark, into a huge holes that seemed to form from the splitting of the earth surface. By another 10 minutes there was almost no slime left above ground level. Kip wanted to kill them to get some experience, but he quickly decided against it.
Slime might be the weakest monster in most RPG. But that doesn¡¯t mean they can¡¯t kill you. He knows nothing about slime of this world, he knows that they are not nocturnal and slow moving, but that¡¯s all. He started to return to his cave since it was getting very dark, any later and who knows what kind of monster will chase after him.
On the way back, he formulated a plan to get rid of all the slime. But for that, he needed his Foreshadow skill to learn more about them. Due to his 6 questions daily limit, he will need to wait tomorrow to hopefully hunt himself from slime.
It was then the sound of a human scream penetrate his eardrums. The sound location seemed far away at first, but was getting louder by the moment.
He quickly snaps himself back to reality. People was running toward his direction. But why? Kip looked around for potential hiding spot, before choosing large nearby tree with heavy leafs coverage. Seemingly skilled, he climbed up like a madman and quickly stopped until he found a branch capable of holding up his weight and with sufficient camouflage. The ground was rumbling slowly, as if something extremely heavy was running around.
He could spots from afar 4 students running in his direction, with terrified expression on their face. One boy tripped, and a black muscled bull with a silver horn snap him into half using it''s jaw. The sight was absolutely hellish. He only died until his body couldn¡¯t hold itself up anymore, intestine and blood splash everywhere. Anyone could tell how horrible his death execution was based on the pained screamed that resounded for a full minute until its abrupted stop.
The bull didn¡¯t seem to care about other human as it slowly crunches the deceased student into bit. Based on the rumbling of hoof, it seems more of its kind was coming. One students seemed to snap out of his paralysed state, a stain could be seen on his lower pant; but he did not care how unsightly he looked right now. He shouted for other students to shock them out of their fear. The remaining two males was faring than their female classmate. A girl with long hair tripped, right under where Kip was hiding.
She teafully shouted at her friends for assistance. Pointing at her twisted ankle and, look of helplessness tould be seen on the girl beautiful face. Kip thought the boy would stop to help her, but seeing their friend vicious treatment as a monster meal, they only apologise and quickly ran away. Kip didn¡¯t blame them really; it was only human nature after all. He was not that much different than them anyway, seeing how he is on the tree watching everything happening.
However, if she was his friend, that would be an entirely different situation.
Chapter 3: The knight in shining Armor, or rope?
Raven has given up all hope. She was absolutely terrified. But she didn¡¯t cry. It wouldn¡¯t make much of a difference anyway.
Her school mates had abandoned her. She shouldn¡¯t have agreed to scout in the first place. She was hurt, lonely, and scared beyond belief. She curled up on the under a large tree, putting dead leafs and dirt on herself as a form of camouflage. She knows it was futile effort, since her school uniform was standing out too much. "Why does it have to be white she thought, not only it is a pain to wash, but now it¡¯s going to cost me my life" Raven lanmented at her disfortune.
"Ahhh!" she cried. Raven could feel something touhing her back. She was scared to turn he head around, nothing good ever happen to people who look back in horror movie anyway. Raven did the most logical thing then, she looked around anyway. "If I am going to die I should at least know what caused haha"
A long shape was extending from above, it''s shape and the location, this could only be a snake.. Raven was about to scream, but she stops herself quickly. Upon careful investigation, it wasn¡¯t a snake. Oh my god, it¡¯s a rope. Raven then looked up, only to find a handsome face smiling back at her.
Kip was in a dilemma now. He didn¡¯t know the girl below, part of him wanted to ignore her and leave the girl survival on her own. Ever since his mother passing, aside from his father and Chloe, Kip passed his life without taking a look at anyone else beside him. It was better that way he thought, I can¡¯t bear the thought of losing people I love anymore. Cowardice, Cunning, Evil? He doesn¡¯t care about labels like that.
But he knows he couldn¡¯t let the girl under him die when he could save her, Kip knows he has no time to waste, so he quickly formulated a plan to get the girl up to safety.
When Raven fearful gaze met his, Kip smiled to reassure her he means to help. Strand of hairs sticked on her immaculate cheek due to a large amount of tears.
¡°I¡¯ll help you get up here, but you need to tie the rope around your waist for me to do that. This might hurt a bit. But do it quickly, the monsters are almost here¡± He gently instructed her from above. Raven gave a him a nod, and quickly followed his instruction. Kip admired her for that. Watching from above, he can tell that Raven was a strong willed girl.
She did not cry, scream and cursed when her friends ran away without her. She even camouflages herself, albeit a little crude, but her intention was as clear as day. Her desire to live overpowered her fear. Girls who could do that was obviously extraordinary. Kip putted a finger to his lip, signalling her to be quite as he pulled her up. "This isn''t going to be easy" he told himself. Securing the rope tightly, he exerts all his strength to pull the girl back up. The girl was quite light he thought. The speed was slow, but he thought he might be able to pull her all the way with his strength alone.Alas, his endurance didn''t allow him to do so.
"Is my stamina bar running low or something" Kip wondered. He shake his head and whispered under ragged breath ¡°Plan B then¡± . Looking at the long hair girl who seemed to to be enduring pain as rope dig deeper to her waist, he told her ¡°I can¡¯t pull you up like this, change of plan, when you get up near the branch after this, secure yourself¡±.
Before Raven could say anything, the boy leapt down, using his weight the branch as the level, she was quickly pulled up and came to an abrupt stop. Once she arrived all the way up, it only took her a bit of time struggling to lie set herself lying on top of the sturdy section of the tree, seemingly more of a rectangle platform than that of a tree branch. She breathed a sign of relief, but was quickly shaken by ratchet bull roars sounding extremly close.
She was very worried for the boy that save her; since in other to get her up, he voluntarily let himself down to the ground. Only until Raven was secrue herself up on the branches did Kip climbs up to the tree again. His speed astounds Raven; she didn¡¯t expect him to pull such a risky move like this. Looking back at the friends whose left her, she thought she couldn¡¯t rely on anyone anymore.
The boy arrived to the same branch that she was on now. Since it was quite narrow, his body press up against her body. The warm temperature and his scent made Raven flush. She has never been in contact with any boys beside from her father before. But she did not make a sound, knowing the situation right now, she¡¯s not so sensitive that she would lose her head over something small like this.
She glanced at the boys beside her again, he didn¡¯t seem to notice his body touching her. She was a bit upset she thought, ¡°why doesn¡¯t he care, doesn¡¯t he sees me as a girl?¡±, but quickly rejected that thought. Why would he, we don¡¯t know each other, get yourself together she thought. The bulls were getting closer now. She dreads those creatures. They attacked her party of 10 people because some people screamed over some bugs, attracting those human eating monster from around the camp they set up.
The bulls looked identical to each other Kip observed. They were all covered in greasy looking black fur, with veined popping out of their seemingly endless supply of body muscles.
The bull''s face wasn¡¯t any better. The lower jaw of the bull extends twice the distance compare to its top, filled with eerily giant human looking teeth. They spot a pair of crazy looking eyes, and a deadly horn on its forehead. Raven knows what those horn is capable off, and would rather commit suicide than dying as food by one of them.
Kip could feel slight trembles coming from the girl next to him. After pulling the rope back up, he told her to quiet down. Judging by the side of those creatures, if they spot him, the trees although big couldn¡¯t withstand the attack of 4 of those monsters combined. Ignoring the one bulls that were happily chewing the dead boy corspe, the remaing pack looked toward his direction and ran.
Kip heart skipped a beat, he thought they had spotted him and the girl, he was prepared to tie the rope somewhere and prepared for an escape. Fortunately, the bull ran passes them, toward the students that escape a little while ago. Kip gave a relief sign, and faced the girl. Now that the disaster was over, he could look at the girl more carefully.
She was pale, with a sort of gothic look about her. Long straight black hair, little make up but still beautiful nonetheless. She was gorgeous in a different way compare to Chloe. Being so close to each other, Kip smelled a pleasant scent ot mint coming from Raven. Seemingly notice him starting at her, the girl face seemed to flush a bit. But she holds it down, and says ¡°Thank you for saving me, my name is Raven, what¡¯s your name?¡¯ Kip was surprised she would start the conversation first; he didn¡¯t notice she was feeling a bit shy since they are so close together.
¡°The name is Kip, class 11-E. We can talk more about this later Raven. We need to quickly leave first. The bulls might comeback this way, and it¡¯s getting darker, I don¡¯t want to stay up here in the dark.¡± he bleakly commented
¡°Do you know where to go¡±
¡°Yes, I do have a base not far from here. But you must follow my instruction. You have seen what your friends did to you before. I promise I will not treat you like that, now that I¡¯ve saved you, I¡¯m responsible for you. Just follow my lead and we will be fine¡± Kip smiled at her.
Althrough the danger was over, Raven didn''t relieve her tension until she heard that one sentence from him. She smiled back at him. She was quite pretty when she smiled he thought. It took a while but both of them manage to get down from the tree. Raven was leaning onto Kip for support on the way back since she twisted her angle. It wasn¡¯t anything major but it would be bad if she uses that injured leg again while it was healing Kip thought.
On their way back, Kip make sure to covered the track around the area, as well set up some temporary barricade hidden the entrance to the cave. The girl was surprised to find Kip has settled himself in a place like this. This disaster happens only this morning, how did he found a base so quick, much less a wonderful one such as this
¡°Raven, do you mind telling me what happed to your everyone after the three buses stops?¡± The girl seemed to ponder for a bit, and asked Kip ¡°you weren¡¯t there when the countdown end?¡±
¡°I was prepared for something bad to happen, call it intuition, anyway, that¡¯s how I found this cave.¡± Raven was surprised, that was some really calm thinking, to formulate a plan and act while everyone else was being confused and relying on numbers to feel protected. She thought the boys in front of her was a lot more mature compare to others his age. She narrated the event to Kip:
When Raven wake up, she was suffering from a mild headache. She could hear others people waking up afterward. Rubbing her temple a bit, she groggily looked around, and what she saw baffled her. The three buses are still there, and so being the students, teachers as well as bus drivers. But there was no ¡®road¡¯ anymore. The concrete road had dissapread into thin air, revealing a layer of moist soild under their feet.
If that was the only change, Raven definetly would not have panicked. The pine forest that surrounded the area was now replaced with a massive jungle seemingly originate from a tropical place. "How was this possible Raven" thought? The buses were going in a straight line. Where did the path disappear too? Why is there an amazon looking forest here, wasn¡¯t this area filled with pine trees a while ago? Raven head hurt, she rubbed her eyes to confirmed she wasn¡¯t seeing thing; but everything in front of her say otherwise.
Most of the students had regained their conciousness now. Like Raven, they were just as freak out seeing the changes, maybe a little more, since they unconsiouly moved closer to their friend for support. A light tap on her shoulder made Raven turned her around. ¡°Hey Raven, wanna go explore? A boy with blond shoulder-length hair asked her with a grin, behind him was three more people she recognise. This was Jack and her group of friend. Raven was closer to Jack than the rest, since the parent knows each other and they hang out with the group quite often.
Other students called her group the emo kids, that wasn¡¯t true. She, like every other girl teenager like to dress themselves up that¡¯s all. Can¡¯t help the way people look at her she supposed; people are judgmental that way. ¡°Jack, what is going on, what do you mean by explore?¡± ¡°The boys looked around, he then turned at her with sort of a maniacal look ¡°Don¡¯t you get it, the message, the changes. This is a game. A new world!!! Don¡¯t you see, this is just like those light novels I told you about. I can¡¯t believe this is true right now¡± Jack waved his hand around, not caring if he hit others who are standing around.
Raven frowned, she knows something big is going on. That is obvious. But to call this a game. Despite all this, the idea of walkig to the unknown wasn''t all that bad. Seeing is believing after all. ¡°Alright, are we going right now? Should we bring out bag with us?¡±
¡°Nah, no point, we are just taking a quick look after all. Bringing your bag in front of these students might be more trouble than it is worth¡± Jack told her. He then walked slowly to the edge and gesture the group to follow him.
¡°Where are you guys going?¡± A voice sounded out from the back. Raven looked around. A gorgeous eyes seem to be staring back at her. There was no meanness or something in those eyes, just genuine concern. Raven know this was Miss Chloe the substitute teacher. Jack walked back, and just like every other boy, trying to gain favour of this beautiful teacher ¡°Miss, we are just going scouting. It might be dangerous staying here. So we just want to make sure the surrounding is safe first. Don¡¯t worry, Mr. Harrison will come with us¡±
Mr. Harrison, a math teacher, has the hot for Miss Chloe since the first day he saw her. It wasn¡¯t a secret, everyone knows that. But they thought he has no chance with her, after all, he is almost 40 now. ¡°Yes, Come Jack, I¡¯ll make sure everything is safe. Just wait here for me to come back. Every, rest on the bus, some of you, come with me to scout¡± Mr. Harrison eagerly says, his voice seems to be higher than usual.
Jack couldn¡¯t help but let out a small laugh. Everything was going to his plan Raven guess. A teacher and 9 students volunteer to scout the area around. They were going quite deep in the jungle as time passed. Raven was amazed. She has never seen anything like this before. There were giant trees of many different species, the air was crisp and a little moist. It was eerily quiet. Half an hour later, seeing nothing dangerous, they decided to turn back to the group. It was then that everything turns to hell.
A girl in the back screamed, startling everybody. It seemed that an orange caterpillar dropped onto her arm. The boys were laughing while this was all going on, even Mr. Harrison let out a slight chuckle. The only one who didn¡¯t find this funny was Raven. Grabbing a stick, she pushed the caterpillar away and gave the crying girls tissue to clean her arm off. There was a disgusting red rash on the girl arm now. Raven hope it was only allergy and nothing more.
She looked at the caterpillar again, but it seemed to burrow into the ground in front of her. That was weird she thought, but before she could say anything; a rumbling of hoofs was getting incredibly louder at each passing moment. Nobody was laughing now. ¡°Argh¡± A loud scream full of pain was echoed. Everybody faced where the sound was coming from, and a scene straight from hell engrave itself deeply into every one of them who were present. Mr. Harrison was pinned to a tree by a strange looking creatures. Its horn pierced right though his side and straight into the tree trunk.
Mr. Harrison showed a terrified expression, he was coughing out blood continuously, and his face turned deathly white. He was dead right in front of them. Before anybody else could make a sound. Some students leg lost their strength and felt on their back, crawling as far away as possible from that horrible scene. ¡°Run¡± Raven shouted, she was scared out of her mind. But ground was still trembling, she knows the bulls wasn''t alone. Hearing Raven voice, Jack seemed to regain his wit, tripped a few times, before sprinting away from the sound. If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Raven panic for a bit, she held the other girl hand but she seemed to have lost all hope. She has no choice now, she followed quickly after Jack and two other boys, only to be abandoned by one she thought was a friend.
Kip was quiet, he was digesting everything Raven has told him just then. So Chloe might still be safe. The bus seemed to sort of changed to a starting area for human.
¡°You have been through a lot. Take a rest now. I need to go and confirm something¡± Kip gently told her. Raven was glad to hear someone says that. She has been through so much to day. She wasn¡¯t a weak willed girl or anything like that, but witnessing death can do some change to people, no matter how big or small the deaths are.
¡°Where are you going?¡± she curiouslly asked
"I need to confirm something from what you say. It¡¯s not that I don¡¯t believe you or anything. But I needed for information about those monster if we are going to survive¡± He smiled. Raven blushed a little, she didn¡¯t know why. ¡°Ah, before that, is Raven your real name?¡± Raven was pulled out of her train of thought, no one has says that to her before. It was a unique name for sure, but not that strange compare to others out there. Noticing her confused expression, Kip thought to himself ¡°So she doesn¡¯t know about this some of this world changes, people probably wouldn¡¯t think this is similar to a game, aside from him and few others that is¡±
Kip sat back down again, and explained to her everything from naming, character stat to skills and tittles. Raven seemed to be more calm than he thought, she was surprised when the panel pop up again, but was surprising adapting to the changes he told her about. No wonder she managed to get away from the bulls, she is quite quick on her feet. Raven was chosen as her name in this world, she didn¡¯t think about it much from what Kip can observe. Not everyone else is as cautious as he is after all. Raven stat appear as follow

After Kip told Raven the existence of skills, she eagerly nodded her head, seemingly interested on what this world has to offer. ¡°Invite Raven to party¡± Kip thought, Raven was surprised to see another panel pop up.

Invitation to form a party

Kip nodded in confirmation that the invitation was from him. Raven stared at him blankly for a bit, then a cute chuckle could be heard, turning into a full laughter.
¡°You choose your name as a slime?¡± She couldn¡¯t hold back her tears from laughter anymore. Kip was getting quite embarrassed, but he thought that Raven laugh was delightful. He hasn¡¯t heard anyone who laugh their heart out like that before, unrestrained. Kip thought it wouldn¡¯t be bad to make her laugh more often. ¡°Wait, what is he thinking. The one he loves is Chloe. Get yourself together Kip.¡± After Raven calm down, he gave an embarrass laugh, and says ¡°It¡¯s something I wanted to test. Just call me Kip from now on please. And get yourself some rest, there are some crackers and chocolates near my bag. If you have some time. Try and see if you can acquire some skills like me. It will really help with our survival¡±.
Remembering what Kip said before about his observance skill, Raven composed herself. She couldn¡¯t move her leg of course, but that doesn¡¯t mean she can¡¯t come up with anything. Also, Raven seemed happy that Kip mentioned ''their'' survival. She liked that, but didn¡¯t know why yet. Kip grabbed the bundle of rope, and checked his stat once more time. He heard a few buzz when trying to rescue Raven from before, maybe because he was concentrating, the panels didn¡¯t seem to pop for some reason

Kip decided to left his unallocated point for now. No point wondering about it since it might help him with his build later on. His health, mana and stamina stat seemed to increase slightly.
Saying goodbye to Raven, he moved out from the tree trunk entrance. He wanted to see if the students were carrying anything useful that he might use. He didn¡¯t think of himself as a scavenger of course, but since they pass away there might be some clue he can use to improve his survival chance. He also wanted to check on the slime at night. Maybe look for food on the way.
Why did he bring the bundle of rope? Well, it seemed to be his lucky charm, since he was able to save a beautiful girl like Raven with it. Kip did have a use for it. "Katniss Everdeen used rope to secure herself on the tree, and she did fine in Hunger Game" he thought. It was a quite dark at night, the moon was still the same as it is yesterday. He didn¡¯t spot any bull on the way, or any other animals, He thought it was quite strange. Aren¡¯t there night crawlers and animals, like owls or wolfs. He didn¡¯t delve on it for long, the less scary animal the less chance of him getting eaten of course. Kip wondered how his dad was doing, he hoped nothing bad will happen to him. He can¡¯t bear the thought of it happening. Just when he was thinking that, there was moment on his right.
Chapter 4: First night
Kip didn¡¯t need to think. Same as before, he climbed up quickly on a nearby tree.
It''s almost funny to the point of laughing outloud how quickly he reacted to dange and what method he used to saefly retreat. He wonders why he hasn¡¯t gotten a skill called climb yet. It probably wasn¡¯t easy to get one.
Keeping absolutely still, he glanced down at the source of the noise. Two shadows walked out of a bush. He almost thought it was a his school mates, since they were walking on 2 legs, and looking vaguely human in the dark. But the sound the two was making made his hair stand up on its end. Under the moon, the humanoid monsters'' appearances looked very much like that of a goblin, or what he assumed goblin to look like. They were both about 1.2 metres tall, with arms longer than legs, and attached claws so sharp that they refllected the moonlight like that of a mirror.
With a naturally curved mouth full of razor sharp teeths, a crooked nose, long pointed ear, and an eye each. Their ugly appearances and facial expressions could only be describe as mischivous and dreadfyl. ¡°Wait a minute, one eye! I thought they was goblin, so they turned out to be a cyclopes after all. But why are they so small?¡± Kip pondered. It appeared the two monsters were looking for something. They glanced all around, seemingly sniffing at the air. Sniffing, wait, that¡¯s not good, are they looking for him?. Kip was prepared to fight; it would be troublesome if there exist monsters that can track him back to the cave. The bald cyclops (that was how Kip differentiated between them) grunted in anoyance. It seemed that human trails end right here. Not only did it miss it''s prey, but also ran into another soildier of the tribe the bald cyclops thought.
The hairy cyclops was also angry, it wanted to capture a human all by it self and having a tasty treat. It didn''t want to share. A series of grunts and snorts echoes in he silence night, the two cyclopes were no longer bickering now. They looked at each other with absolute hatred in their eyes.
The one hairy cyclops was waving its hands around, and it drew blood by accident. The bald cyclops already ugly face was getting uglier than the minute. They started fighting all by them self without him doing anything. Kip was in ecstasy. The fight was short extremely short, lasting for only 5 minute. Yet Kip was absolutely amazed. It was one of the most intense fight he had ever seen in his life/
The cyclopes attacked and clawed at each other with inhumane speed, dodging blows after blows and doing the samething to their opponents. Although it was dark, their moment was a blur. Not only that, they seemed to be very crafty, aiming at vital point such as the eyes, heart and such. "Such a savage style of fighting. Completely ignoring defense, the Cyclopes fight wasn''t an exchange of skills, but a dance of dead!
Fighting to kill, this was the first time Kip seen something like that. Both monsters are now lying on the floor, blood dripping out of their chest and faces. The bald goblin was lying still however, with a line across its neck. The other, although not looking any better, is at least still alive. It crawled to its friend corpse, and started eating. Kip face was making a disgusted expression; he knew there was something wrong with these two since they started fighting over the smallest thing; turn out the cyclops are cannibals.
He couldn¡¯t waste this chance, sliding down and avoided making as little noise as possible. Kip picked up a sturdy nearby branch. Hearing a different sound, the cyclops turned to his direction. Kip heart was beating really fast now. He holds the branch up and pointed it toward the cyclops in an attacking stance. 1 minute passed, but the cyclops still was still rooted in the same place
¡°Why is it not coming at me? Is it''s injuries really that bad?¡± he thought. It was then he noticed, the cyclops was bleeding out of it eye, and was trying to locate him by sniffing around. Kip thought of a plan. ¡°Trying to find me using scent huh, I¡¯ll make sure it¡¯s the last thing you ever smell¡±. He threw a bunch of dirt and fallen leafs from the grounds toward the cyclops. This seemed to aggravate it and make it swing at random. Deadly swings came out one after another but all was hitting nothing but air.
In the meantime, Kip tied one end of the rope to a tree. After making sure it¡¯s secured, he slides across the ground, tripping the cyclops with it¡¯s with the rope. The creature fell on its face, hard, groaning and grunting in pain. But he wasn¡¯t going to let it rest just yet! With one resolute step, he crushed the cyclops head into mush. The feeling was unpleasant, but this could be him if he ever shows mercy to those monster. He heard a buzz on his ear

Kip sat down exhausted, dirty and tired. He couldn¡¯t relax just yet, more of those creatures¡¯ friends might be coming. But this will do for now. It was his first monster kill after all. Bloody and savage, nothing like an RPG game, more like a nightmare. He stood up on his feet again, untie the rope from the tree, and proceed to search for loots, if there is any.
Rolling the corpse over, he got a clear look at the creatures. Even in death they still look terrifying. Since the cyclops fought with their claw, he couldn¡¯t find any weapon. But that doesn¡¯t mean they didn¡¯t carry anything else with them. On each cyclops hung a large pouch. Inside the first one was a small ring and some strong smelling herb, he was quite happy with this find. He thought he couldn¡¯t identify the ring since he doesn¡¯t have the skill, but that doesn¡¯t mean he has no way of knowing what it does. By putting it on and checking his stat, he might be able to figure what it¡¯s for.
For the second pouch, Kip was quite disappointed. It seems this cyclops like to pack its food when its go out; as expected from a cannibal, there¡¯s only a piece of meat inside. Since he doesn¡¯t know what creature the meat is from, he didn¡¯t dare to eat it; but he collects it anyway, maybe he could use it as a lure. There was nothing else to loot really, Kip didn¡¯t want to take the dirty rag on the goblin body. Speaking of rags, that strap on its hand seem kind of new. He pries the strap from the dead body, surprisingly, its stretchy and elastic like rubber. He could definitely use this. He drags their body close to a tree, and cover it with dead leafs, just as a precaution of course.
Satisfied with his work, he took a drink from his water bottle. All the fight made him exhausted and hungry, but he didn¡¯t want to take food in front of Raven. That means that he couldn¡¯t trust her. The true is, this was exactly the situation. Raven seemed to be a nice girl, but no one could completely see through a person on their first meeting. Only time will tell.
Walking toward the slime area again, he realised he had a big problem. The cyclops seemed to be able to smell him, How did this happen?. How do they know what human smelled like in the first place? Could it be coincidental? He couldn¡¯t take a risk, no matter how small it is. He needed something to mask his smell. Remembering the strong herbs in the pouch he had before, he took one out, and cautiously rub it on his exposed arm and neck. He knew it wasn¡¯t poisonous, since this was what the two goblin smelled like.
What Kip didn¡¯t know was that this small precaution has saved his life. The cyclopes he fought was nocturnal creatures, coming out at night to hunt. They have poor eyesight, but an excellent sense of hearing and smell. They relied heavily on their sense of smell to find their target. They are familiar with most of the smell in this area, since this was their hunting territory. That was why the human sudden appearance results in him being target as a prey. By rubbing the herb on himself, he had masked his human smell, thus avoided meeting other cyclops. Cyclops often hunt by them self, going together conflicts with their keen sense of smell, which were the result of the fight Kip has witnessed before. As for Raven, she is safe as long as she doesn¡¯t travel out of the cave. The water from the stream naturally washed all scent clean after all.
Arriving at the slime den, Kip wanted on a tree nearby, tied the rope around himself, and slowly drip to sleep.
Raven awoke in the middle of the night; her ankle feels a lot better now. But she still avoided moving around too much. Kip had shown his trust in her by telling her everything and leaving his supply behind while he ventured into the night, she couldn¡¯t just sit around doing nothing.
After washing her face and drinking water from the stream, she peaked her head outside its entrance, getting a bit wet in the process. The forest looked even more scary at night, she saw shadows drinking from the stream, they looked almost humane, but she knew they were something else. No human makes that much grunting noise when they drink. Quietly sneaking back in the cave, she started working on the skill Kip told her about, after a few hundred rocks later, she still couldn¡¯t get the skill observance.
¡°Am I doing something wrong?" she thought, and gave up on trying to obtain ''observance''as a skill. No point dwelling on it if it doesn¡¯t work. She could always ask him when he get back. Speaking of Kip, he had been out for a while now. She silently pray that he¡¯s okay. An unslightly noise was coming out of her stomach then, she hasn''t eaten any solid food since yesterday family dinner.
Munching on some chocolate before sitting down in a corner of the cave. She felt lonely in the dark. She wondered how parents were doing. ¡°Everything happen for a reason they say, what about something like this then¡± laughing gently, she picks up a rock and throw it across the wall. Seeing that doing this help her mood, she started throwing a few more, aiming at an imaginary target that only she would know. When suddenly

Raven was feeling ecstatic. She has finally gotten a skill, can¡¯t wait to tell Kip about it. In her rush of joys, she started throwing a lot more rocks. This last a while until her body couldn¡¯t handle it anymore, and she fell to a deep slumber.
Chapter 5: Slime core
Kip was wake up from his peaceful sleep by a standing meerkat!
He fell asleep last night on one of the tree branch. He was about to stretch his arm when he notices a pair of beady eyes staring at him. ¡°A meerkat?¡± Cried Kip. His sudden moment causes the creature to release a slight soundwave, similar to the buzz in his head every time a panel pop up. Seeing that nothing happens to Kip, the meerkat lost interest and quickly crawl away. Looking around, he saw similar Meerkat doing something resembled morning stretches.
This might look ridiculous, but seeing that the creatures didn¡¯t attack him. He observes them with curious eyes. Every meerkat looked identrical to one another. They are covered in a lustrous golden colour fur. Their eyes were completely white, and on their head hold two tube like pair of ears. Looking down as the slime den, Kip can see that some slime already started to creep out of the whole, resuming their yesterday activity like a routine, devouring everything on sight.
It was then like a signal, one Meerkat after another rushes to the slime den entrance. Using soundwave, the slime body quickly combust, splashing its inside content everywhere. Kip noticed the meerkat was a bottom feeder animal. They could not hunt larger animal so they relied on the slime to kill it. Then kill the slime and eat the animal corpse inside its body. More slime was being killed by the second. The meerkat was absolutely ruthless, killing every slime that came up from the hole. He felt sorry for the slime, even hoping they would win. It takes a lot of effort to hunt another monster as food, only to lose everything to its natural nemesis. A buzz ring in his head

Kip almost laugh it out loud. He didn¡¯t think the system would give out something like this. He was contemplating when he heard a loud bang. Surprisingly, once of the meerkat was burn to crisp by something. The appearance of a red slime frightened the meerkats, but didn¡¯t manage to chase them away. Furious that one of their comrade was killed, the meerkat launched an area attack focusing on that one single red slime.
The slime, (Kip decided to call it fire slime), launched another 5 five balls of flame toward its enemy before its combust, leaving behind a small green stone. Kip was very interested on that stone; it was the first real loot like item that he had ever seen. The meerkat seemed to be interest in that stone as well. Three more red slime came crawling out, look like there is still hope for the slime just yet. The situation is completely reversed now, the meerkats all retreated up on nearby branched, hissing and release threatening soundwave at the slime before leaving away.
The three red slime crawled back into their hole and the slime population resumed doing their stuff as if a life threatening attack has never happened. Kip quickly climbed down, and walk slowly toward the slime core. As expected from his title, the slime completely ignores him. Picking up the slime core, he could feel a small energy pulsing from it, he didn¡¯t know what it can be used for; but seeing that it came from such a powerful slime, it must be a good item. Still carrying the slime core in his left hand, ¡°It¡¯s about time I returned¡± he thought; Raven might be waiting for him.
Getting loot from the cyclops and fire slime on his first day venturing out sure is a blessing; "Things are finally going my way" jokingly said Kip. As soon as the word left his mouth, 6 meerkats seemed to appear out of nowhere now that he has left the slime territory. They were greedily looking at the slime core, HIS SLIMECORE.
"Don''t you dare!!!" He warned the Meerkat
Ignoring his words like wind passing, before Kip could even do anything to prepare himself, 6 meerkats simultaneously jumped on top of him, biting and scratching whatever is exposed. They seemed to be avoiding the area that the herb was rubbed on; unfortunately, his face was not covered in it. Kip was flaying his arm around, trying to get the meerkats off, his hand is still holding tight on the slime core, so much that it cut deep into his skin and draw blood. As if on cue, he felt a burning sensation from the slime cored before it disappeared from his hand and into his body. A buzz accompanying panel pop up in front of him

Kip stopped moving since he couldn''t feel the core in his hand. Did he absorb the slime core when his blood touch it? Why does this seem like a contract? Regardless, to a person who have no attack skill right now, this was a god sent. The slime core scent sudden disappearance stopped the meerkat from attacking Kip. As if finish playing with him, they walked away leisurely in a manner that irritate him.
Covered in scratches, Kip upsettingly walked back to his cave. This skill better be worth it he thought. On the way back, Kip picked up a few branches, wanting to use them as weapon; in doing so came up with an idea of a ranged weapon. Halfway back, he spotted a tree covered in red fruits that shaped like a mango, and smell absolutely wonderful. They were also surrounded by Meerkats, which could be cause him more trouble if he attempted to take the fruit in front of them. It¡¯s time to use his foreshadow skill he thought, since he wanted to test his slime summoning skill later, he thought it will be good asking only 3 question for now
Is this red fruit edible by human? Yes
This is great news, as edible by human mean it wasn¡¯t poisonous, this was two question in one. Who knows what kind of stomach Meerkat has, what is edible by them might be the cause of death for Kip, no harm being overly cautious. Especially since he can afford doing so with his skill.
Will the Meerkat attacked me if I pick fruit from the tree? Yes
Ah, this is troublesome, if he climbs up there and take their fruit, sudden attack my cause him to fall from his death. Kip wasn¡¯t about to give up just yet. Food is precious when you out in the middle of nowhere, this could mean the death of him and Raven if he wasted this chance. Thinking carefully, he notices some fruit has ripened and fell on the ground, that gave him an idea. The meerkat seemed content eating fruit from up there, what about those?
Will the Meerkat attacked me if I pick up fruit on the ground? No
Kip was absolutely ecstatic, with a wild grin on his face; he collected a handful of these fruit before running away from the tree. He had enough trouble with Meerkat for today. Taking a bite of the fruit, it was absolutely wonderful. Delicious can¡¯t even describe how the soft fruit is melting in his mouth right now. He decided to call this red mango, the only thing mango and this fruit has in common is that they are both sweet. Aside from that, it was like comparing Mc Donald and a 5-star restaurant.
Kip stuffed himself full with these tasty treat, before leisurely walking back and collected more for Raven. The meerkat didn¡¯t even seem to mind his ridiculous behaviour right now. With a handful of red mango and loot, he happily travelled back to his base.
Raven wake up early, her body still felt a bit tired, but her leg was feeling so much better compared to yesterday. She washed herself clean with water, Kip hasn¡¯t comeback the entire night. Raven was extremely worried but stayed put since he asked her to do so. She didn¡¯t touch anymore food since it was his and didn¡¯t seem right to eat more than her share. Why didn¡¯t she brought her bag she thought? Looking at the Kip clothes (Underpants included) neatly packed in a corner, Raven couldn¡¯t help but blush. ¡°Boys¡± She signed, so careless.
It was then that she heard sound of leafs being moved from the tree entrance of the cave. Being alarmed, Raven pick up a rock and hold it tightly in her hand. It was until she heard his voice that she quickly relaxed, couldn¡¯t help but smile brightly at his appearance shortly afterward. ¡°Kip, you are back, I could feel you with the party sense but it was so faint I could not be sure. What happened to you¡± Raven inhaled. Kip looked like an entirely different person. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
His hair was a mess, he was also covered in scratches and leafs, as if he rolled on the ground or something. His arm and neck was green from some paste, and he smelled strongly of herb. He was embracing 5 red fruit on his arm. The only thing that Raven could still recognise was his charming smiling face, although it was there was some scratches it was still the face that she was happy to see most right now.
Kip could feel Raven moving about in the cave since they are still in a party system. He smiled as he walked into the cave, seeing Raven in the morning was a sight to behold. Her sleepy appearance was really adorable he thought. Setting the fruit and pouch down, he walked toward her and gently reply ¡°I¡¯ve bought you breakfast. Sorry for the tardy appearance, I¡¯ve been through a lot last night, if you don¡¯t mind, I¡¯m going to take a quick bath, eat the fruit while you wait, trust me you won¡¯t regret it.¡± Grabbing a fresh change of clothes, he walks toward the hidden section of the stream, between the cave and outside to take a bath. ¡°I can¡¯t stand the smell of herb and meerkat anymore¡±.
Hearing this sentence, Raven seemed to be confuse. Meerkat? She didn¡¯t wait and dig into the fruit ravenously. Even though she is hungry right now, she still admitted it¡¯s the best thing she has ever tasted. After she was done, she wanted to wash her hand. Seemingly forget that Kip was still washing up. They ran into each other midway. Raven pressed her front toward Kip body. ¡°I ah. I need to wash up too¡± She stuttered and quickly walked away. ¡°God, that was so embarrassing, why did I do say something like that.
Kip could felt the pair soft thing pressed toward him after he finish his quick bath. She was so endowed for her age he thought. Kip couldn¡¯t help it; he was a teenager after all. Waiting for Raven turn to bath, he thought this was the perfect time to test out his skill. Taking the ring he looted yesterday, he putted on his pinkie since it was the only finger that could accommodate the ring. It can¡¯t be helped that the cyclops hand was smaller than his human hand, a buzz could be heard

Interesting, so the cyclops looking creature was called Uromeck. It seems they are very human like in many aspect. Reading about the tribe and existance, Kip couldn''t help but worry. "What if I wasn''t the only one attacked last night?" he thought. If that is the case, it looks like the enmity between human and Uromeck will only progress deeprer, the annihailation of either race seemed unavoidable.
Look like this ring might be useful after all. Next, Kip tried activating his spell summon slime; the same way he does with foreshadow, he can feel his hand pointing up in front of him. After a quick flash of light, a slime is summoned. Kip opened his eyes only to see a ball of green liquid looking back at him. The slime was a lot smaller than he imagined, maybe about 50 cm in total. It was cute as much as a slime could be. A
side from the small size, compare to the slime that he had seen, his was much smaller, and like to retain a mostly spherical shape. Kip gave it a simple command ¡°Move to the left, alright, stop¡± The slime seemed to respond quickly to his voice, although a little slow. Kip was quite satisfied, this little fellow could be of use to him after all. He wondered If he could see it¡¯s stat, since he was the summoner after all. As soon as he thought about it, a buzz could be heard

Kip quietly looked over the slime status screen. Hmm, so his pet doesn¡¯t have a name yet. I guess it can¡¯t use magic since it¡¯s only a green slime. Unlimited stamina is understandable, and what is with that ridiculous strength. Kip gave a slight chuckle and talk to the slime as if he was a human being. Alright little buddy, your name is Bubble from now on, since that is what you look like. Checking the slime status screen, he thought, what does the skill devour and digest do. A buzz was heard following this thought

¡°Wait for me at the cave entrance, we have some testing to do.¡± The slime creep slowly toward the entrance. Kip has a slight smile on his face when Raven came back. He looked deep in thought until he spotted her. A girl wet hair is a wonder on its own. ¡°Here is my towel, use it to clean your hair. Don¡¯t worry, I have another one.¡± Kip tried to avoid staring at Raven appearance which can only be describe with one word: Seductive!
Raven nodded and shyly pick up the towel from his hand. She saw him staring at her when she was drying her hair. This seems to make her happy somewhat. ¡°So what happened when you were outside, I¡¯m dying to know¡±. Kip narrate his story to her from the beginning, as the story goes on. A mixed of different expression can be seen on Raven face. She was amused when he told her about the slime and meerkat fight. But looked worried when the Uromeck was mentioned. Kip assured her that he will figure this situation soon enough. But at least they don¡¯t have to worry about water and food for now.
Raven told him about her passive throw skill. Although when he tried the process on himself, it just doesn¡¯t seem to work. ¡°
Looks like it¡¯s quite hard to get a skill. Your compatibility could be a big factor as well. That¡¯s how I could get observance and you throw¡± Raven looked at Kip and asked ¡°So what do we do now?¡± Kip looked deep in thought, and answered ¡°I could try heading to the bus top to check on the survivor there. Your leg has not fully healed yet, so take a bit of rest for now. You can head outside for a bit if you wanted too, but remember to rub the herb on you if it gets late¡±
¡°Alright, I¡¯ll look for material we can use outside, but you are not going yet are you¡± Raven asked with a sign of longing in her voice, she wanted to travel with Kip, but she will only slow him down. She needed to get stronger first.
Kip seemed to notice her intention, he grin and says ¡°No, I need to prepare some defence in the cave. And also fasten some weapon for the both of us¡± Satisfy with his answer. Raven went outside to stretch her body a bit, leaving Kip in his preparation for what is to come on the second day on this strange world.
Chapter 6: Slingshot and kidnapping
Kip walked to the cave entrance where his slime was lazing around, picking up rock from the ground and play with it using digestive fluid. He wanted to test if he could command it via telepathy, so he though ¡°Bubble, follow me¡±.
Kip walked out from the cave, peering his head back, he could see the slime slowly followed him, catching up to his normal speed. He brought his sport bag along this time, and the bundle of rope of course. 15 minutes later, he arrived where he hid Uromeck corpse yesterday. Giving a mental command to his slime, Bubble crawl slowly over the corpse until it¡¯s completely covered one leg.
A sizzling sound can be heard. While waiting for his pet to eat, Kip took out some dry wood he prepared and started a fire. Before his mother passed away, his family used to camp outside the wood every month or so. His dad naturally taught him how to start a fire with nothing but natural resources around him. Half an hour of tedious work later, he finally got his fire going. Satisfied with his work, it¡¯s time for him to produce the weapon he had in mind since last nice; a sling shot! He needed to make the frame first, using a suitable shaped sturdy branches, he put it near the fire to dry out all the moisture within.
After that is done. He attached the elastic strap looted from the Uromeck and added a few modifications. Testing with a few pebbles and aiming at nearby trees, he was satisfied to see that it worked great; hitting where he targeted most of the time. He glanced over to his pet. It has finish digesting the corpse a little while ago. Kip didn¡¯t know how a small body can contain so much food without changing its appearance much. ¡°Slime stat¡± he thought

Kip was surprised, wow, so it gained experience from eating stuff. No wonder the cave slime was crazily devoted on devouring everything around. "If only it was this easy to gain experience" Kip thought. Slimes sure do have it easy.
His slime didn¡¯t seem to like eating anything else aside from meat however; since his command didn¡¯t work when he told it to consume plants material and even rock. Next, he wanted to see what it¡¯s weakness was. He took a burning branch and throw it at his slime, ordering it to stand still. He also pours water on it. Aside from the wobbling of its body, nothing changed when he checked it status.
He then shot pebbles from his slingshot at Bubble, but his slime seemed invulnerable to physical and elemental attack that he could think of and tested. He has no way to make vibration so he assumed his slime is indestructible for now; unless it ran into a meerkat of course. Putting out the fire, Kip was thinking about walking toward his school mate¡¯s corpse in order for his slime to get stronger; but quickly put down the thought since he does not know if the bodies had been completely consumed by these bull monsters.
While heading toward the campfire, he managed to erase his trail with the help of his slime following closely behind. The slime seems to create a trail similar to that of a snail, but less conspicuous since it¡¯s crawl thing through and not dragging its whole body.
Kip was picking up pebbles along the way in hope of gaining a shooting skill. Alas the new system makes it way too hard for him in doing so. After 45 minutes walking and practice shooting, he only managed to increase his stat by a little bit. But for the weak him right now, Kip was quite happy. Any little increase in points could greatly enhance his chance of surviving.

Kip could see the campsite ahead now. He was creeping slowly toward it since students might turn hostile toward him for running away first when it all started, thinking he came back to steal their resources. He could almost see the bus now.
"Wait, something was wrong. Why is it so quiet? And this smell, this is definitely the smell of blood."
With worried in his heart Kip quickly ran toward the camp, Bubble seemingly oblivious to everything does not care whether her owner told her to crawl faster or not, since this was already the slime fastest speed. Kip arrived to where the buses were, the sight there was one he could not forget. There was about twenty human corpses on the ground, and few more inside the bus. They were mutilated beyond the point of recognition, gory can¡¯t not even begin to explain it.
Kip forced a deep breath, the sense of blood was overwhelming. He thought he could handle it better if something like this was to happened again; but it seemed like this is more taxing on him than he thought.
Observing the body and surrounding, it seemed they were attacked by a group of Uromeck last night. He recognises the claw mark and missing body part by cannibalism on the buses and nearby body. ¡°Devour all the corpse here¡± he commanded Bubble. This might be cruel on his part; however, it was the most logical thing to do. Leaving the body here might attract more trouble than it¡¯s worth; the smell of blood will definitely lure monster here like those bulls yesterday.
Leaving the slime doing his stuff, he started to scavenge for stuff and examining what might have happened to the group yesterday. The dead bodies counted a quarter of all students on the tree buses. Assuming they were attacked in the middle of the night. They would have been kidnapped or manage to run away from the attacking monster. The second option seemed unlikely since Uromeck has naturally good sense of smell; this seemed to be the case however, since a lot of bags was missing from the buses.
Students who survived the attack must had come back to bring the resources away in case Uromeck came back at night again. He wondered why the Uromeck willingly let some of the students get away. Kip was extremely worried now. He didn¡¯t manage to see Chloe body which was a good sign, but he has no way of knowing her whereabouts now. Kip walked out side of the bus, Bubble has finished devouring half of the available corpse now. Kip started looking for the Uromeck tracks.
It looks like he will need to get rid of them before they manage to massacre their way anywhere else. Suddenly, he had a sense that someone was watching him. Panicked, he turned around, but he didn¡¯t see anyone. ¡°Up here¡± A voice weakly cried. Kip looked up at the source, on top of the bus, a pair of teary blue eyes was looking back him.
Chapter 7: Hazel
Hazel was in a lot of trouble. Even with medications, she could not seem to hold her motion sickness down. She has gone through 2 paper bags already, and no one was willing to sit near her anymore.
"I want to go home" she wished for it from the bottom of her heart. She was forced to attend this shool trip against her wills. She did everything she could in preparation for this day. She lied to her parent about parent-teacher night. She burrowed the trip pamphlet and even took a cold shower in order to get sick for an entire week. Precisely how long the camp would go on for. It was as if god was against her. Charlie, her adorable pet dog somehow manage to dig the hidden pamphlet from the ground, and leave it there only to be discovered by her mother.
Hazel was naturally timid in nature, with a short stature, and an adorable face; she seemed like a small animal that needed to be taken care of. The sunshine was reflected though her curly blond hair. Her window was fully opened; the coldness of the wind blowing against her face seems to help her feel somewhat better. She didn¡¯t want to go on this trip in the first place since she knows this was exactly what was going to happen.
She loved reading more than anything else. Leaning toward fiction and fantasy most of the time. It was easier to read than interacting with people. Books are straight forward; you can read them better than most people she thought. Everything was going well until the panel appeared. The sudden stop from the bus quenched her already calm stomach. Taking the opportunity, Hazel quickly ran out of class 11-B bus. No one cared to look at where she was going. After a few minute, she started feeling better. Taking a look at the panel again, she was quite confused. She thought it was a hallucination in the first place, but this, this is real.
Hazel panicked, the number was getting closer to zero. She didn¡¯t know what it was, but her trembling expressed her mood pretty well. Hazel was easily scared; she was being taken advantage a lot due to this trait. She couldn¡¯t even watch the first few minute of supernatural the TV show, and that wasn¡¯t even the scary bit. Fear of height, fear of the dark, fear of the unknown. Hazel was like a child in a teenage body.
She was growing quite well for her age, more than she had like unfortunately. With a bust threatening to spill out of her bra every time she moves, it was impossible for Hazel to do anything physical such as sport. Boys started giving her strange look when she started growing in six grade, 5 years later and she is still not used to people leering at her that way. She received a few love confessions over the years, but she knew they didn¡¯t really like her for who she is. It just doesn¡¯t seem sincere. ¡°Why would you start a relationship over one simple love confession?¡± Hazel was not an old fashioned girl; it was just her shy personality getting her further away from the opposite gender.
The countdown reached zero, there was an earth wake followed shortly after that. Normally, panic would have seized Hazel and render incapable of moving, but the system made her fainted before she could do anything else. Hazel woke up with a slight headache. It was the same for other students around her. She stood up slowly, rubbing her eyes. ¡°What¡¯s going on?¡± Hazel was frightened by the scene around her. Nothing but strange plants and huge trees in the surrounding. The concrete road had disappeared, replace by hard and solid earth.
The three buses were in a circle area, like someone cut a circle section of earth and put it on another planet. Hazel startled to hyperventilated, but calmed down somewhat when she squeezed herself down under a tree. Other students were to confused and dazed to take notice of what was happening to Hazel. A panel was pop up again, she was greatly alarmed. ¡°This panel again¡± she cried, but something seemed difference. She could read it this time, the content was quite confusing as well

Hazel didn¡¯t know what this was completely about, but she does have a few guess in mind. ¡°So I can sense danger huh? Don¡¯t know if it is a curse or a blessing. I guess it¡¯s the latter for a coward like me¡± she thought bleakly. She spends the rest of the day sitting in the same spot, seemingly exhausted to do anything else. She did notice a few people leave the bus and delve deeper into the jungle. She didn¡¯t volunteer through; Hazel weak physique would only get in the way. Too tired to even walk toward the bus, she welcomed sleep with open arm.
It was quite dark when she wakes up. No electronic device seemed to be working so no one knows what time it was. Feeling thirsty, she walked back up in the bus to get some drink. On her way back, she could see people was setting down. A giant campfire was started, students and teacher were sitting around it, cooking their marshmallow or what not. Some teacher tried to lighten the mood up by singing a song, but no one was willing to follow along.
"Everybody is scared" Hazel realised. She was freaking out herself so she could somewhat relate to the people around her. Everything around them is mysterious, unexplainable. Human has always feared the unknown. Hazel got what she wanted, and sat down on her seat. She signed, wanting to take out a book and read it but there was just the only light provided was from the campfire and moon outside.
She was about to doze off again but a sudden feeling attacked her. She knows this well. It was fear. What was she scared of? Her sudden goose bump and sweaty hand weren¡¯t helping her thinking clearly. Why am I feeling this way? Hazel thought. A memory quickly popped up in her head. The skill. Heighted fear. Am I in danger? She resists the urge to quickly ran out of the bus, seeking someone for help. She wanted to find a hole and crawl in it. Calming herself, she looked outside pass the windows. The looming darkness made her feels nothing but dread.
The danger is coming; I need somewhere to hide. Franticly looking around, she came up with a stupid idea. ¡°Who cares if people think she is crazy if they found out what she was doing, there were no one on the bus with her after all¡± The school bus ceiling has a small rectangle box area that opened by pushing the lid. It is used to let natural wind flow in from the top during long travel. After a few tried, she managed to crawl up on top of the bus through the hole, getting stuck for a few min because of a certain part of her body couldn¡¯t fit through the entrance. Her breathing was really hard now, she lied on top of the bus, forgotten her fear for a brief period.
Then it started. A loud scream was heard near the campfire. Looking in the direction of the sound, a students was standing there before he fell down. Or part of him that is. A creepy looking humanoid creature was holding the student bloody head. Everyone who saw what was going was stunned. As if time stopped, nobody knows what they were looking at. Why is there a bloody body lying there? IS this some kind of jokes? Hazel own screamed then broke the silence along with some others. As if on cue, more of those one eyed creature started jumping on another target, clawing and slashing their way into the human crowd.
IT WAS A TOTAL CHAOS. Students were running away, screaming, fell to their leg and shaking, crying. Some even tried to fight back. Alas, it was impossible. Although the human outnumbered the monster at least 4 to 1, they were like killing machine. Nothing could stop them. No one could fight back. Realising the hopeless situation. People either gave up or run away. There was no resisting whatever those monster can do to them.
After a while, seemingly bored with killing human that aren¡¯t after to fight back; the Uromecks had another idea. They pulled some human away, killing the one that couldn¡¯t walk by themselves. Why you ask? The Uromecks are cannibals. But even they had their own standards. They liked their meat fresh. They liked seeing terror in the eyes of their prey as they prepare their meal. It was horrible sure. But that¡¯s just how it is. Think of it as human consumed their meat from killing animal. It wasn¡¯t murdering of animal, just preparing food. Around 20 people were dragged by the Uromeck toward their camp. They didn¡¯t care about the one that escape. Nothing could escape their keen sense of smell after all. It will just be a longer hunt for them.
Hazel was trying her best to keep herself from getting discovered. Her lips were red from blood because she bit herself. Her eyes were blurred with tears. She felt as if she could vomit any second; but there just weren¡¯t anything left in her stomach to do so. When nothing could be heard anymore, Hazel lost her consciousness the second day that night. While she was passed out, the students whom managed to get way came back to the bus to take every supply away. They were scared out of the wit. But since they manage to get away, they considered themselves as survivor.
They would do anything to survive now! They blame themselves for being so na?ve, sitting there resting while death surrounded them. Student¡¯s was getting into group. Fight broke out from fighting for resources. A few students were heavily injured from fighting their own kind and not by the hand of monsters. Hazel was passed out on top of the bus through all this. The smell of blood masked her sense from the Human and Uromeck alike. She was lucky, but it wasn¡¯t the end just yet.
In fact, it was just the beginning.
Chapter 8: A promise
Kip was surprised to see a girl lying on top of the bus. He thought no one would come back here after everything that has happened. Hmm, but how come she¡¯s hiding up there.
¡°Hey, are you alright?¡± Kip asked. The girl teared up again.
Kip scratched his head. ¡°Can you come down first, I won¡¯t hurt you. I just wanted to hear what happened her yester night.¡±
Hazel stopped her tear, she clearly didn¡¯t expect to see anyone here. Wait, he asked for what happened?
¡°You weren¡¯t here when the attack happens?¡± She sniffled while asking. ¡°No, I was separated before everyone blacked out. Do you need help getting down? ¡°It¡¯s alright. Please wait for me¡± Raven quickly replied. She didn¡¯t want to be alone after what happened. It took her a short while to get down. But she just couldn¡¯t seem to get out of the bus. The corpses are out there. Kip saw the fear on her face, his slime cleared the bodies outsides anyway. It gained a skill when in the process as well
|
Your slime has developed a palate for meat
Strength +5 when figthing creature with flesh
|
This skill has just increased his chance of surviving for what he had in mind today. ¡°It¡¯s alright, I cleared the corpse. You can come out¡±. Hazel peeked her head outside the bus door, seeing what Kip said was true, she breathed a sigh of relief.
¡°I saw you getting rid of the corpse with something, what was that?¡± ¡°It¡¯s my pet slime¡± He grinned. Due to time constraint, he didn¡¯t manage to introduce bubble to Raven before he left. Hazel was the first person who showed his pet to. She wanted to say that his pet looks nice, but seeing what it can do make her stomach uneasy.
¡°Would you mind telling me what happened last night?¡± Hazel sat down, and Kip followed. She then describes the entire event that happened yesterday. He could tell it pained her to remember the gruesome death of her classmates. After hearing her side of the story, Kip confirmed with what he already guesses.
¡°Looks like the plan is going forward after all¡± he said grimly. ¡°Umm, do you mind me asking if I can join your group if you have one?¡± Hazel asked softly. She was very afraid that he would say no. No one would accept her anyway. Why would they? Hazel was useless. She was a coward. Kip was stunned, he notices Hazel was not a confident girl. He didn¡¯t have an issue with that. However, she needed to contribute if she wanted to join him. Kip wasn¡¯t soft hearted. He knows the importance of having someone trusted behind his back. Hazel could be one, but she needed to toughen herself first.
Kip gave a soft laugh, and looked straight at her eyes ¡°My name is Kip. If you want to follow me there is a few rules you need to follow. I need to protect the safety of my group after all.¡± Hazel was dazed for a while; she rarely has anyone who looked at her like that beside her parents. His eyes seemed warm, and dependable. Hazel didn¡¯t realise she was staring. She nodded her head eagerly.
¡°Alright Hazel, I will not force you to do anything that will harm you. And I promise as long as you got my back, I will protect you with my life. Is that okay?¡± Kip told her, extending his hand. Hazel blushed, she didn¡¯t know why. What he said truly warmed; she could tell its wasn¡¯t an empty promise. Holding his hand with both of her ¡°Yes, I¡¯ll believe in you¡±. Kip looked around and told her ¡°We are going back to the base first, It¡¯s a lot safer than here. Could you salvage what we could use around here. Don¡¯t worry about the food, most of them has been looted anyway.¡± Hazel agreed, and they quickly got to work. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
She collected her clothes, and moved from one bus to another to search. Hazel was scared still, and she dread the smell of blood. But Kip had showed his trust in her, so she wanted to overcame her fear not disappointed him.
After a while, all Kip and Hazel could salvage was some snack bars, and blankets left behind by others, everything else was looted clean. They then headed back to the cave base. ¡°By the way Hazel, how did you get on top of the bus in the first place¡± Kip asked. It was nagging at him that she got up there without anyone noticing. It must have been before and not after the Uromeck attacked.
¡°I¡¯m not quite sure myself, I had a feeling that something bad was going to happen?¡± Hazel said. ¡°A feeling?¡± ¡°Yes, do you remember the panel that appeared when everything started? I got one shortly after, saying that I received a skill called ¡®heightened fear¡¯¡¯; It gave me a warning when I¡¯m about the meet danger¡±
Kip was surprised, he didn¡¯t think Hazel knows about character stat, much less gaining a skill. ¡°Ah, that how it is. You are quite fortunate, this little guy here is a skill as well¡± Hazel glanced at Bubble, it was dragging itself a lot faster now that it levelled by eating. She knows it¡¯s cute appearance can be deceiving. Noticing Hazel facial expression, Kip explained ¡°Don¡¯t worry about her, she is harmless¡± ¡°It¡¯s a she?¡± ¡°Ha-ha, yes. We are almost at our base now. We also have a girl in or group. Her name is Raven. I think you guys will get along just fine.¡±
Hazel didn¡¯t know why, but her heart was feeling unease when she heard about the appearance of other girl. Due to not dating anyone before, she was completely unexperienced when it came to love. Nodding her head, she followed closely behind Kip.
Noticing Kip was back, Raven ran out to welcome him back. But frowned when she saw a girl behind him. ¡°Hey Raven, this is Hazel. I found her back at the buses¡± Raven was confused, she thought he was only going there to observe, and not inviting anyone back. She wanted to tell him she has gotten her throw to beginner level 7 now, and even went to the Red Mango tree he told her about!
But she waited for him to settle down. ¡°He must have a good reason for inviting that girl. I hope he is not smitten with her because of her chest¡± Raven was staring at Hazel while Kip putted his loot away. A girl jealousy can be very scary, especially one with unsure feeling such as Raven. Hazel timidly put her head down, she didn¡¯t like being stared at. But being the newcomer, she knows this was bound to happen somewhat.
Kip looked at the girls, seemingly completely oblivious to the showdown between them. He then narrates the events that happened to Hazel, and why he decided for her to join the group. Listening to his story, Raven softened her attitude toward Hazel by a lot. She didn¡¯t know how terrifying Uromeck was, but she knew it was nothing short of describing a demon. ¡°That¡¯s all that happened. Raven, do you mind taking care of Hazel for now. There¡¯s something I need to do¡±
¡°Are you going somewhere ¡°both girl asked, before realising what happened and let out a soft laugh.
¡°I¡¯m going to fight those monster¡± Kip stated.
¡°YOU CAN¡¯T¡± Hazel cried ¡°It¡¯s too dangerous¡±. She knows what those monster was capable off, she had personally seen them in action after all.
Kip smiled, but he didn¡¯t seem happy. ¡°I wanted to see if I can rescue the hostage taken by them, don¡¯t worry. I¡¯ve killed those creatures before¡±. Hazel was confused, how strong must Kip be if he was able to defeat those monster. Regardless, she can¡¯t let him go. Before she could say anything else to stop him, Raven putted her hand on Hazel shoulder, signalling her that Kip will be okay.
¡°Don¡¯t worry, I¡¯ll be back. Don¡¯t get outside at night. That¡¯s when they hunt¡± Kip said goodbye to both of them, and quickly left the cave. His back seemed lonely and dependable at the same time.
Hazel didn¡¯t know how long she stared at the entrance. But Raven broke her out of the trance. ¡°He¡¯ll be fine, I¡¯m Raven, and you are¡± ¡°Hazel, I know he is strong, but those things¡± She paused. ¡°Trust me, I know you are worried for him, but he saved me as well. So trust me when I say he knows what is doing¡±. Holding Raven hand, Hazel took a seat across her.
She then listened to Raven story before she me Kip, and how he saved her from the bull monster. Their side of stories did have a lot of difference, but one thing they can both agree with; is that Kip was a guy worthy of their trust. They then chatted about many things. Raven showed he how the character stat screened work and was surprised to know Hazel also have a skill like her. Hazel then had some of the red fruit, and took a bath while Raven scouted. They were far apart, but their concern for Kip was the same. The girls now were very close, but they haven¡¯t told each other the question they wanted to ask the most: How do the other girl feel about Kip?
Chapter 9: Pay back
Kip unsummoned his slime, he needed to rush after all. And his mana has almost recovered back to full. Who knows if the hostage will still be alive after today. Rubbing the strong herb on his body, he steeled his resolve.
Since the Uromeck trail was opposite from this base, he need to get back to where the bus is first. He hoped that Miss Chloe got away, and isn¡¯t one of the one captured. Even if she is, Kip will definitely save her. He brought only his slingshot and ammo along with him. He still needed a close range weapon, so he hoped he will find what he needed at the bus.
If not, he¡¯ll just make one from branches. Albeit risky, but he didn¡¯t have much of a choice. After running nonstop for a while, Kip realised he was not tired just yet. This must have due to him levelling up. ¡°Character stat¡± he said out loud

Bubble was quite strong after. Her attack potential is three time compare to Kip. He will need to rely heavily on her if he wanted this rescue to succeed.
Arriving at the buses, he proceeds to find an appropriate weapon. It was by luck that he found it, the steel frame on the back window was slash into pieces by Uromeck attacks. He selected a suitable piece, seemingly around 20 cm with extremely sharp and pointy ends. He wraps some bandage that he found on one end, and make himself a makeshift knife. The Uromeck claw must have been so deadly to cut through steel frame easily like that.
It was midday when the temperature was at the highest of that day. A lone boy can be seen walking through the forest, his eyes resolute and contained a little killing intent. That boy was Kip of course, following Uromeck trail back to their base. ¡°They must be very confidence in their strength¡± he thought, not even making an attempt to at least cover or direct their track somewhere else.
He has already used foreshadow to confirm that this was the monster trail before he started. He only has two question left today, he must save it for the fight in a little bit. He soon arrived at a rocky area. A large circular area was being elevated on top of the ground. It was as if dirt just came together to push the ground up forming a huge platform or stage for the Uromecks to build their village.
Kip could see the village surrounded by large trees acting as the fence, the leaves were giving out the same smell as the loot he collected yesterday, although a bit milder. ¡°So this is how they find their way back to base, the beacon of smell also acted as a barrier, since other monster probably don¡¯t like that scent. He was reminded of the time where the attacking ferret did not bite the area the herb was exposed to on his body. What was strange about the village was that there were many little huts erected separated onto three areas. Kip was quite interested to see how their society work, even though his purpose today was getting rid of them. He used his remaining foreshadow question to test for the Uromeck defence.
¡°Are there trap around this base?¡± No
¡°Are all Uromeck asleep¡±? Yes
He was relief to see that is the case. It indeed turns out that those monster really are nocturnal, and they must be really confidence that they won¡¯t be attacked that they assign no sentry. Choosing one of the tree area where the tree was densest. He proceeds to enter the Uromeck camp.
Closely sneaking, he arrived to an area where there were a total of 10 huts and a large platform outside. The huts were quite small and far away from each other. On the platform, there were around 20-30 sleeping Uromeck, snoring loudly in their sleep. What, why are they all out here. So who is living on each of the hut? Kip was confused. He summoned bubbles, and peek his head into the farthest hut away from the platform.
Inside, was a sleeping Uromeck. It seemed to be a female, judging from the cover on its chest. Aside from that, it looks no difference from its opposite gender. Kip inhale a large breath, and put his plan in motion. From what he can gather, Uromeck weak point are pretty much the same as human. They lose too much blood and they die. They get stab and they die. It¡¯s just that their agility and deadly sharp claw make it hard for anything to even get near them. Not to mentioned their keen sense of smell and hearing, and inhumane reaction speed.
But Kip thought of a perfect execution plan, and only he would be able to do it. Or to be precise, only Bubble could do it. He ordered her to quickly devoured the sleeping monster, starting from its head. The Uromeck was sleeping peacefully, only to awake feeling pain all over its head. It tried to scream but something was stuffing its mouth, burning and destroying the inside. Its senses were all mess up. It couldn¡¯t see, hear or smell anything. All that exist was incredible pain, and it couldn¡¯t be get resolved no matter what.
The Uromeck uses its claw to push away the slime, but pass harmlessly through the liquid; only to harm itself in the process. Kip was quite happy; his hypothesis was right after all. The slime is truly Uromeck nemesis. Although being incredibly weak to soundwave, they were invulnerable to physical and elemental damage. Sneaking to the back of the panicking Uromeck, he used his tube knives and stab it the creature head. Just one stab, and it was over. The Uromeck felt flat on its front, dead. Cleaning his knives, he instructs Bubble to digest the corpse for experience.
Since he was the one that dealt the killing blow, he got a lot of experiences. By the time the sun was almost setting, he cleared around 30 huts in two areas of the Uromeck camp, ignoring the sleeping monsters that were lying outsides on 2 different platforms. He was level 9 now, and his slime was level thirteen. He invested all his stat point into strength and speed, a few into vitality and intelligence as well since he gained some extra stat while dealing with the sleeping Uromeck.
He noticed that the monster sleeping in the hut were mostly female or stronger male Uromeck that needed two to three head stab to die. It seems stronger individual are allow separate resting area away from the rest. He also discovers two warehouse in both of the two area he cleared. One seemed to be where the monster process their herb, and another was where they stored and created clothing and coming of age ring that he picked up.
Being this organised for a monster creeped Kip out. They seem so humane despite being cannibals. He pickpocketed a few rings. The sun was almost setting now. He was clearing out the huts in the final monster area where he noticed a different. There were 2 warehouse in this area. He peeked into one of them, albeit that, he could make out a few sleeping shadow. There was a giant Uromeck sleeping on a makeshift bed from animal fur, which was the most luxurious one he has seen in this camp so far. Next to the male monster was several female Uromeck.
It seems that this was the tribe leader or boss of the entire camp. Kip swallowed his saliva. The boss was nothing short of a demon. It¡¯s one eyed was closed, but you can feel the intense leader aura permeating from its skin. It was twice the size of a normal Uromeck, with bulging muscle and veins compared the thin stature of its kind. Its claw was covered in a thin layer of red, reflecting Kip image when he looked at them. Unlike how most Uromeck was green, this one skin was a dark shade of purple.
Looks like he can¡¯t recklessly challenge the boss yet. Ignoring the monster outside, even if he manages to kill the boss, It¡¯s female companions will surely deal the finishing blows back to him. Not to mentioned, although he didn¡¯t spend much time killing individual Uromeck, his stamina has dropped to about a third. And although he didn¡¯t hear any of the monster talk before he finishes them, his Convert: Uromeck was level 3 now. He wondered if muffled voice counted.
Ignoring the boss camp for now, he waited for bubble to finish the remaining corpse while he entered to last warehouse. What awaited him was a scene he was glad Raven and Hazel weren¡¯t there to witness with him. The last warehouse was where the Uromeck process and stored their food; in short, a slaughter house. There was human and animal corpse hanging from the ceiling, blood dripping and chunk of flesh missing. Kip wanted to vomit, he has cold sweat on his hand and gripped his make ship tube knife which was now stained with red monster blood.
It looks like he was too late, there were no survivor to be found here, everyone has already been killed last night when they were brought back. They were strip naked and a bundle of white uniform can be found in the corner of the warehouse. Kip searched desperately amongst the clothes, but was relief to find none of Chloe there, which mean she might had escaped. With that done, he ordered his slime to devour everything in this room. Although she was levelling a lot slower now, she was three time as strong before they entered the camp. A few final Uromeck were melted by Bubble before Kip could even deal the killing blow.
¡°I¡¯ll be back you damned race of monster¡± Kip said silently in his heart before leaving silently into the setting sunlight, with bubble quickly following behind.
Chapter 10: Hunted
The boss Uromeck was enjoying its nap, when a little one entered the camp and wake it up with urgent shout. Feeling sleepy, it was annoyed to be woken up abruptly like this. The boss holds absolute authority in this tribe. His word is the law, and he was used to making people waited for him, not the other way around. Last night was more satisfying than usual; his soldier had brought back some strange creature, although having not much meat, they were absolutely delicious.
He was in a much better mood than usual, that¡¯s why he didn¡¯t smash the Uromeck that had woken him up into pulp. ¡°What¡¯s the matter¡± he grunted. Noticing the displeased tone in his leader voice, the Uromeck was shaken in its boot (if it has one). ¡°I¡¯m extremely sorry esteemed leader, our elite soldiers and females had disappeared without a trace¡± a series of grunt and snort followed. ¡°Disappeared, what on Galava do you mean by that?¡± he bellowed in rage, the Uromeck was so scared that its dropped on its feet and placed his head out, as if under the mercy of its leader. ¡°I¡¯m so sorry again esteemed leader, they just vanish without a trail. Not to mentioned, our entire meat house had been cleared out¡±
The male Uromeck was crying in tears from terror now. Without saying another word, the leader stormed out of its house, seeing it¡¯s tribe standing there, and all the elite soldiers missing, it feels incredibly hatred and anger. It bellowed in rage ¡°what on earth happen here, where are all the elite Uromeck¡±. The entire population put their head now. No one had an answer to their boss question. Hearing no response, the leader sat down on his throne, and started thinking.
It was a weak green Uromeck just like all of its tribe. The leader before was a tyrant, and liked to kill its own kind needlessly. In rage, it manages to poisoned the leader, before killing the previous leader with its own hand, and evolved to become the new leader.
There was no name between Uromeck, only one leader, a group of elite soldier and common Uromeck. Compare to the previous leader, it has brought it tribe to prosperity. Establishing rules and orders that must be followed. Only to find out that the hard trained soldiers of its tribe disappear in one night! ¡°Is it a betrayal, no, couldn¡¯t be, I¡¯ve treated them with care and mercy beyond their imagination.
But the why did the meat house get cleared? Is it the slime, no, they never move far away from their den?¡± It must be a new threat the leader came into a conclusion. The appearance of new prey yesterday must have also brought along something else.
Something silent and deadly.
¡°From now on, accompanying each other in a group of two when you hunt. We must leave some sentry to guard the tribe when we are asleep. We are being attacked¡± The tribe was shocked. But it¡¯s leader words were law, they could only obey. The leader started assigning groups that will hunt for food tonight. Since their elite soldier were gone and their food resources picked clean, the tribe must use all of its force to restock the meat tonight.
The leader wasn¡¯t scared about being attack again by the unknown assailant. From what it can gather, in order to move through the tribe unnoticed, it must have been and extremely small group of individuals. Not to mentioned, the enemy probably specialised in assassination; which was why they choose to attack its tribe when they were at their weakest. The leader was in no mood to sit around anymore; it has personally chosen to hunt tonight. And its rage will only be relief when its covered in its enemy blood. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
Observing from afar, on top of a tree. Kip could hear the bellow of rage from a formidable monster, which made him smiled in satisfaction. He wanted to go back to the cave, but he must know what the Uromeck decided to do first. Leaving them alone when they are extremely agitated may not be a good idea. Kip could see the Uromecks started leaving their village in groups of two. Ah, so they think number is a good idea huh? This might be true for him right now, but it doesn¡¯t mean the same for his pet slime. He was extremely tired now, only having 10% of his stamina remaining. Securing himself in a hollow crevice above a giant tree, he slowly falls asleep; not before leaving a command to his slime ¡°Kill and devour anything that get close to this tree¡±
After Kip left, Raven went with Hazel back to where the buses were. She wanted to bring her bag back to the cave, since she had nothing on her except the clothes she was wearing. The girls didn¡¯t talk much. Alone the way, Raven picked up rocks and throw it at random branches to practice her throwing skill. She is at beginner level 9 now, so she considered herself pretty good. Hitting four out of five targets every time, even while moving.
Hazel was surprised, she praised her friend accuracy at first, not knowing that it was a skill. After Raven told her about existence of skills, Hazel thought her was a little lacking. ¡°Your skill is extremely valuable, sensing the danger means avoiding trouble before it even begins¡± Raven explained. Hazel just nodded. If your skills are produced based on your configuration, it just means that she was a scaredy cat.
She asked Raven about Kip slime summoning skill, but the other girl look just as confused. After arriving at the bus stop, Raven was excited to find out that her bag is still there. Someone dug her clothes out why searching for resources, but she didn¡¯t mind. She didn¡¯t want Kip to get bored looking at her wearing the same clothes yesterday. Bringing her bag outside, Raven was surprised she heard a Hazel scream.
Looking at the source, she saw a boy coming closer to Hazel, who looked terrified. ¡°I won¡¯t hurt you. Just hand over your resources. And I¡¯ll let you go¡± the boy said while putting his hand up. But he seemed annoyed at Hazel scared whimpers. ¡°Everything was looted last night. Why do you think we have anything to give you? The boy turned to Raven, looking up and down at her until he revealed a lecherous expression. ¡°Is it just two of you. Do you guys have a group?¡± Hazel was behind Raven now, both of them showed a disgust expression. ¡°Don¡¯t ask anymore question and leave, we don¡¯t want anything to do with you¡±.
Seemingly unaffected by both of the girl hatred stare, he moved slowly toward the ¡°Don¡¯t be like that. The world has gone to crap now. You need someone strong to protect you. I can do that. You¡¯ll just need to listen to what I said. I promise I won¡¯t hurt you¡±.
Hazel chuckled, both are male but such different phrasing. Kip promised her that he will protect her with his life, and that he would never ask her to do something that will harm her. Yet it was obvious that this person wasn¡¯t asking but threatening her to join him instead. She was about to throw the book she was holding as a shield at him, but before she could do that, a sickening thud accompanying a shrill scream could be hear.
Raven had taken out one of her largest rock and throw it straight at the boy head. People who wish to harm her, she will show no mercy. But she didn¡¯t stop there, before the boys could properly stand up again, she throws another rock seemingly at the exactly same spot. Knocking him out.
¡°We need to hurry and leave, this place is not safe any longer. Other students may come back here¡± Raven hurriedly said, and walked back to the base, with Hazel followed closely behind. They made a few detour, spread out false trails, and made sure that they weren¡¯t followed back to their base.
When the boy wakes up, it was already quite dark, he held his head in pain. ¡°Those bitches, I¡¯ll see where you will hide from me¡±. Seemingly didn¡¯t notice two Uromecks standing behind him, his head was sliced into half before he could even realise he had been attacked.
Chapter 11: Dangerous move
It was late into the night. Wolf howls could be heard far away into the distance by a boy resting on top of a certain tree. Kip had woken up a while ago, he didn¡¯t get to sleep much. Bubble was down on the ground munching the dead corpses of two Uromecks, wondering into their area by coincidence.
His stamina has recovered somewhat; but if there exist a hunger bar, it will be would be at rock bottom in his current state. Finishing a few salted crackers in his pocket, like an agile monkey, he descended down from the tree at an unbelievable speed.
¡°What should I do now¡± he thought ¡°The hornet nest had been stirred. I haven¡¯t thought of a solid plan yet¡±. Kip decided to go back to his base, thinking of getting rid of some pesky cyclopes on the way. Everything were going smoothly so far, he hasn¡¯t even dropped a sweat.
¡°Maybe I¡¯m thinking too much. I wonder if Bubble can fight on par with the Uromeck¡¯s leader¡± Kip said. But stopped in his track when he heard human screams on a distance not so far away.
The leader was feeling a lot better than It was comparing to this afternoon. Accompanying by a few of its soldiers, they mutilated everything on sight. Even a small rabbit wasn¡¯t spared. It has been a while since it come out of the base to hunt. Nothing around here could be worthy of being the leader rival. Regardless, indiscriminating murders seem to help with its mood.
¡°That¡¯s smell, looks like a group of human is camping nearby¡± the leader told its soldiers. Due to being an involved specie, not only was its physical strength greatly enhanced, it¡¯s sense of smell was no way inferior as well. The leader then told its minion to stand guard far away, acting as a barrier in case any human manages to escape. Not that it was easy to do so anyway.
In the darkness of the night, a group of students were sitting closely together under a large boulder. Seven of them manage to escape together when the cyclopes attacked yesterday. They found a sense of safety just by being closer to one another.
No one dared to even to make a sound. And starting fire was the same as a suicidal thought. The silence of the night mean that they were safe for the time being. And every passing second was like a lingering sense of death dancing around them. They never thought they would wish so desperately for the sun to rise. Seemingly out of nowhere, a giant shadow appeared out from the wood. Stepping on the leaf debris and breaking the so sacred silence that was the same as the students¡¯ final hope.
Kip ran toward the origin of the sound. ¡°There are peoples nearby, why on earth are they hiding so close to the Uromeck¡¯s base?¡± he told himself. He was only interested in checking if Chloe was also amongst the human. It doesn¡¯t really matter for him whether other students lived or die. But once he rushes in, he knows he had no choice but to help them escape, even if the girl he was looking for isn¡¯t there.
¡°Huh?¡± Two Uromecks was surprised to see a human running at them. At first they thought it was one of their kind since Kip carried the same Cyclops¡¯s smell on his body. However, when their Kip was getting closer, they were attacked by Bubble who was creeping silently behind them, waiting for a distraction to make her move.
¡°Help me¡± one of the cyclops screamed. His friend in trying to pry the slime away with its claw was only making the situation worse. In its panicking state, the monster did not notice a pointy object stabbing toward its head. With a grunt, it fell powerlessly onto the ground. Dead. The same quickly happened to the other cyclops.
The human scream was getting louder now. ¡°I¡¯ve to hurry, before it is too late¡± Kip bit his lip, and bolted toward the sounds. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.
The Uromeck teared two humans apart with its bare hand. And throw the dead body onto the ground, as if the human corpse weighted no more than a paper clip. What was it doing you ask? Why, playing with its food of course. How could those insignificant insects be called proper prey? They were no more than a slice of bread, or a piece of fruit.
The Uromeck¡¯s leader was grinning from ear to ear before something climbed onto it¡¯s body. With a swat and incredible wind pressure, Bubble was smashed onto the ground. It was glaring toward Kip now, seemingly annoyed with the defiance expression on its ¡®prey¡¯.
¡°Run a way now!!, toward the direction I came from¡± Kip shouted. Throwing two of the herb bag he took from the cyclopes just then toward the students who were now frozen in fear, he commanded ¡°Rub those herb onto your skin, they won¡¯t be able to smell you. And do it quick, I can¡¯t hold this guy back for long¡±
A boy, seemingly more quick-witted compare to other, took the herbs and spread one leaf onto his body, before passing other leafs around. The rest of the students quickly followed, and looked at their saviour as if waiting for him to save them.
¡°What are you waiting for, run¡± Kip shouted. Why are these students still standing around? Bubble was smashed away effortlessly by the leader; his chance of survival had been reduced to less than 20 percent if he faced the monster boss heads on.
The boy who responded to first to his instruction urged the others to ran, he quickly faced Kip and asked ¡°What about you?¡± ¡°Don¡¯t worry about me, just go¡± Kip replied, with an urgent look in his face. The boy bowed his head thanking him, and quickly ran away with the others.
The leader was pissed off now. How the hell did one of the prey manage to get in. What were those fools doing standing guard outside? Looking at the slime that was struggling to reform its body shape, it thought ¡°So that¡¯s why. Even an elite soldier would have some trouble if he let down his guard in front of a slime, much less and ordinary Uromeck. But why is there a slime here, and why would it helps the human getting away.¡±
The Uromeck was still contemplating this when it saw Kip passed something onto the terrified human. Although it has evolved, the horrible eyesight was still a bane as long as it evolves to a similar specie. Suddenly, the human smell was getting weaker by the minute, before almost disappearing from its nose. If it was any Uromeck, the human would seem no difference than its kind if they have the same smell on. Albeit hard, the leader could still smell the original sense of the prey if they remained within his 10 metres radius.
¡°Crafty prey, how dare you try to get away¡± The leader bellowed in anger. Hearing their leader shout, the cyclopes that were standing guard quickly ran toward their boss in fear. On their way back, they ran pass some cyclopes that seemed to came from the opposite direction. ¡°Weird¡± they thought, ¡°wasn¡¯t boss by himself, where did more comrades came from¡±.
Kip was also planning his escape. He wondered if he can resummon Bubble if she gets killed. He didn¡¯t have any choice. Running away from the boss, he chose a direction that were opposite to where his schoolmates escaped. Noticing that the last human was trying to get away, the leader vowed to destroy this prey into pulps. Only then would it calm his anger.
As if a constraint was lifted away. Bubble attacked the leader without fear for her life. She throws part of her body at its weakest spot. She twisted and changed her shape in a way that is hard for the monster to completely rip her into bit. Alas, the Uromecks¡¯ leader was just too strong. Her attack only annoyed and make the opponent madder. Using a solid kick, Bubble was smashes into bit against a tree. Instantly destroyed.
Kip could fell the connection between him and his slime disappear. So aside from vibration, overwhelming brute force can also destroy his slime. He activated his slime summoning again, and was glad to see bubble appeared in front of him. Having no other choice, he ordered he to slow down the boss monster again¡
The leader had never been this angry in its entire life. The prey specie strength it was hunting was so weak, comparable to that of an ant. But why is this one running so fast. Not only that, as soon as it destroyed the slime and catching up to Kip, another one appear, and delay it again.
¡°I¡¯ll kill you!!¡± the leader cried. Letting Kip escape would be its greatest shame.
The slime summoning skill was used three more time. But Kip finally got away from the leader. Having escape death, his hunger seemed to disappear entirely. He was so tired that he could pass out with any step. There was only one thought on his mind right now.
¡°I¡¯ll be back. We¡¯ll see who will be the hunter and prey next time¡±. Inhaling another deep breath, Kip dragged his body, using the party sense allocation skill, and returned to his base.
Chapter 11.5: Brendan the bus driver
After arriving back to the base, Raven finally feel relax and let her guard down. Taking a gulp from the stream water, she asked ¡°Are you okay?¡± Hazel looked back at her and smiled ¡°That was some incredible accuracy Raven! I would have been in a lot of trouble if you weren¡¯t there with me. Thank you very much.¡±
Raven smiled back. She thought Hazel was a shy and reserved girl, and didn¡¯t know why Kip wanted to recruit her. When she was about to take aim at the boy with her rocks, Raven noticed Hazel was preparing to do the same with the books she was holding, and she admired her friend¡¯s courage despite her being so easily scared.
¡°I need to get stronger as well. I can¡¯t protect anyone like this¡± Raven thought. Making up her mind, she told Hazel to stay here for now why she scouts for danger around the base. She didn¡¯t want Hazel to know that she was actually going to train.
Raven leaves through the cave entrance this time, her targets? monsters that was drinking from the stream were mostly small in size, so they make perfect prey for now. When a bigger monster arrives, all of them scatters away as quickly as possible anyway, so she can use them as a sort of indicator.
Walking along the stream where the water current makes it harder for the monster to get near her. She shoots, she scores!! Raven throwing skill was immediate level 2 now, seemingly hitting animals at their weakest spot when she aims.
She levelled up to level 5 after killing a few monsters that weren¡¯t fast enough to get away. Since everything was going so well, aside from the monsters that were running from her; Raven did not notice the others that were running away due to a much bigger threat.
¡°Come on, come on, come on¡¡± urged Brendan ¡°Just leave already¡±. The thirty-five years old bus driver was lying flat on the ground, waiting for a chance to drink from the stream he had just discovered.
The last 2 days were the worst of his entire life. He was ridiculed by student after the bus stops, since he lost unconsciousness on top of the driving handle and broke his nose as a results. Not only that, he was only responsible for dropping the kids off at the camps, now he was stuck in this strange world with nowhere to go and dangers seemingly lurking everywhere.
¡°Those damn Meerkats, that was the only piece of candy I have left. How dare they¡.¡± He signed. Brendan escaped with his life and limb intact after the cyclopes monster attacked the camp yesterday.
He was relieving himself away from the buses when he heard and saw students getting tear apart from afar. Lucky he has already done his business, or else he would wet himself again. Turning around, he ran as far as he could into the night.
As soon as he thought he got away from danger, he was attacked by seemingly every creature possible on the day after that. Caterpillars fell on him, rabbit bit at his shoes, a bunch of Meerkats attacked him when they smelled the candy he was about to eat¡ It was a miracle he hasn¡¯t die yet. Only suffering from minor injuries and insect bites.
He felt ashamed on himself. Brendan was a good person at heart. He loved to help people whenever he can. Helping an old lady cross the street, please, he would carry her to where she wants go is she needs too. That¡¯s why he felt very bad when he ran away, abandon the students and teachers to their demise.
Brendan know he doesn¡¯t have to stay back, there was nothing that he could do anyway. But his personality and being another adult in that situation compile him to feel this way.
When he heard the sound of water running, he was about to jump straight toward the sound, but stopped quickly as he does so. Even a slow person can only be attack so many time until he develops a sense of caution.Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site.
Peering his head outside from a bush, he saw a bunch of strangle animals drinking from a stream. Even though they appear harmless, he was traumatising from seeing small animals after getting attacked so many times. ¡°Now I just have to wait until they leave for my turn¡± he solemnly says.
Brendan was wake up suddenly by loud splashing water sounds from the stream. He seemed to have doze off why he was waiting for his turn. Peering his head outside, he saw a long hair girl running along the water stream, getting chased by an extremely blood-thirsty looking green baboon. Before he was even sure of the situation, his body rushed toward the monster with new-found invigorating strength.
¡°What do I do now, Kip would be upset if something was to happen to me while he is away.¡± Raven cursed herself. She blamed her carelessness, for being too absorbed in killing monster that she did not notice this baboon approaching. She was quickly running out of strength, the baboon did not approach the stream where she was running in order to get away. It was playing around with her, waiting for Raven to collapsed in exhaustion before it goes for the kill.
Raven knows she was about to die, and it sadden her to imagine that Kip would not find her even after she die since she is going to become monster food anyway. She stopped running, and was about to fight with the monster to the death, before she saw a large man running out of the wood to tackle the baboon down to the ground.
Brendan successfully topple the chasing baboon down to the ground before he realised he was in imminent danger. Although he was a big man, he could feel the baboon body containing incredible strength pushing him back.
¡°HAHAHA, looks like I can¡¯t beat you with strength alone. You want my life huh? Well, come and get it. I¡¯m dragging you down with me regardless whether you wanted it or not¡± he shouted. Brendan punches, kicks and knees the baboon with all his strength. He could feel the baboon tearing and biting his flesh, he could feel his life draining away from the sharp claw of the monster underneath him.
But strangely, he didn¡¯t feel scared. He was actually happy. Brendan could feel the damn baboon attack weakening. "Looks like it¡¯s a one-way trip to hell for the both of us. At least I can atone for my sin by leaving those kid behind now¡± he said quietly, before being pushed away and rolling away from the monster. With no strength left in his body, he closed both his eye, and gladly accept his fate.
Raven was moved. The man in front of her was throwing away his life in order for her to get away. Aside from Kip, she didn¡¯t think anyone would do that for her, much less a person she didn¡¯t know. But who was Raven, she didn¡¯t give up even when death come looking for her, how could she let someone to die for her sake. Grabbing a branch nearby, she ran to where the fight was; and using all her strength, she pushed the stick toward the baboon¡¯s brain with all her might.
Brendan was confused, why did the Baboon stopped attacking. ¡°Oh no, is it chasing after the girl¡± he thought. Opening his eyes, he saw Raven sitting beside a still body of a dead baboon with a branch sticking out of its head. ¡°Hahaha, good one. You are braver than I thought. At least you are safe now¡± he told Raven in ragged breath.
¡°Why did you save me? The girl asked him, a look of respect in her eyes.
¡°I don¡¯t even know myself. Maybe I¡¯m just getting sick of being attacked by monster, can you come here for a bit.¡± Raven was reluctant as first, but seeing how he was attacked to this state for her, she quickly came to his side. Pulling a key out of his pocket, he gave it to the girl ¡°This is the key for the bus, you can drive it and open the trunk for class 11-E one. Leave me here and quickly get away, more of those monster might be coming. Don¡¯t worry about me. I¡¯m still as strong as a bull ha-ha¡± he coughed.
¡°What¡¯s your name?¡± Raven asked. ¡°You can call me Brendan the bus driver, now go, you don¡¯t have much time to waste¡±. The girl nodded, saying thank you to him and ran away. Looking up at the sky, he thought in his heart ¡°Look at how cool I am ha-ha, I hope you are proud of me mum, dad; I¡¯m coming to see you soon¡± closing his eyes for the last time, Brendan drift into eternal darkness, leaving behind an expression that was not one bit afraid of death.
Raven tear up after she left. She doesn¡¯t cry easily, but she has nothing but gratitude for the man who saved her life. During her most emotional state, her party sense skill activated, and she could feel Kip walking closer to their base. ¡°I¡¯ll be back for you. Please hold on a bit longer¡± Raven told herself, before wiping her tears and running off into the distance.
Chapter 12: Cooperation
¡°Are you okay?¡± Hazel asked. After Raven added her to the party, she could feel someone else approaching to the base and realised it could only be Kip. Running out of the cave, she ran into Kip who smiled at her, looking exhausted. Supporting his body, she leads him slowly into the cave, only to run into Raven afterward.
¡°You¡¯re back!!¡± Raven asked with a worried expression on her face. Only after checking that no major wound appears on Kip¡¯s body, did she relax a little bit.
¡°I¡¯m fine, just had a run in with those cyclopes, nothing you should be worry about¡± Kip told her. However, Raven anxious expression did not change. ¡°Raven, is everything alright with you?¡± he asked, noticing that she wanted to tell him something urgently but in taking consideration of his current state, was reluctant to ask.
¡°It¡¯s like this¡± Raven told her party the story that happened a while ago, how she was attacked and then rescued by Brendan the bus driver. ¡°Let¡¯s go¡± Kip stated. Letting go of Hazel supports, they ran toward the bus driver direction.
¡°That¡¯s strange, there¡¯s nothing here. Where did the body disappear too?¡± Raven said. Looking at the drag mark on the ground, Kip motioned the girls to come over ¡°Based on what you say, the baboon was dead and Brendan size wasn¡¯t small. They were both dragged by around 5 to 6 others monsters. It¡¯s too dangerous to give chase. I don¡¯t think Brendan could possibly survive this¡±
Raven nodded, a grim expression on her face. She knows Kip was right, with threat lurking everywhere, she could only leave this issue for now. Walking back to the base, Hazel asked ¡°So how did it go? Were there any survivor?¡±
Kip shakes his head ¡°They died after arriving to the cyclopes den, I could only get rid of about one fourth of the population¡±. Hazel and Raven gasped, Kip had told them something they could never think of. Killing one or two cyclopes were already hard, but to kill that much in a single day, it was nothing short of a miracle.
Noticing the worshipping expression on both girls¡¯ faces, Kip chuckled ¡°I attacked them while they sleep, my summoned slime did most of the work. By the way, I ran into another group of survivor¡¡± Kip narrated his story while he ate, the girls could only marvelled at how much information me managed to collected and plan everything out in the shortest amount of time.
¡°I dealt a huge blow to the Uromeck, they won¡¯t be able to let this lie down that easily. We should get rid of them one and for all before they could counter attack¡± Kip told them. Hazel nodded, she would believe whatever he says after all, why? Is it because he invited her and promise to protect her? Is it because he provided her with shelter and gave her food?
The reason is nothing grand like that, it''s quite simple actually. Hazel noticed how tired Kip was when he arrived back to base, but after hearing Raven¡¯s story, without much of a complain, he decided to follow her request straight away. For a person that is so cautious in everything he does and plans, Hazel knows how much he truly valued his companion. And that make her more than just happy.
Raven although similar, was a strong willed girl. She agrees with the idea of fighting the threat before it could grow, but couldn¡¯t imagine how Kip could create a successful plan. Listening to his story, she could imagine how strong the boss monster is if it could deal with the slime, it¡¯s kind nemesis so easily.
¡°Naturally, I have a plan. But we need more people¡± Kip told her
¡°Everyone is scattered out; how do you plan to find them. And not all people are as reliable as you think. Actually, at the buses ¡¡± Raven told Kip the story of how she and Hazel were being threatened by a male student. Kip was angry in the inside, he already predicted threats will come from human as well as monster; but he truly didn¡¯t have any choice if his plan is to work.
¡°Don¡¯t worry about that, leave the plan to me. You guys will next to train the next few days as well. I don¡¯t want to force you to do anything. You can train however you want to; since the method I use is not suitable for both of you¡± Kip told them. After talking for a while, Kip sense of exhaustion finally came back to him, saying goodnight to the girl. He slowly drips into a deep sleep.
It was late at night; Hazel couldn¡¯t go to sleep no matter how she tries. She was thinking about a lots of thing, but mostly about the life before this all happens. If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
She would go to school every weekday, albeit a little boring, but she passes the time with ease by reading. Then she would go home, and greeted by her loving family. Her mum would remind her to go outside more often while preparing dinner, and her dad would just be sitting on the couch watching football with a cold beer in hand.
Only when all this is gone she realise how good she has it in her life until now. She does not need to worry about food, about clothes, about being safe¡
Hazel wanted to cry, but she knows it wouldn¡¯t change anything. Lying on the makeshift bed from blankets gotten from the camp. Sitting up, she glanced at a distance not so far away. Raven was asleep, facing her back toward her.
She then moved closer to Kip, it makes her feel safe when he¡¯s close to her. His sleeping face was so good looking she couldn¡¯t hold her breath; it was a face that she doesn¡¯t mind waking up to every morning. Hazel was in love; she finally knows this warm feeling in her heart every time she thought of him.
She reached her hand to caress his face. Suddenly, her hand was met with his. She tried to pull it back, but Kip hand wouldn¡¯t let go.
She calmed herself down and look at him, he appears to be having a nightmare. Mouthing the word mother, Kip expression was that of longing and pain. Hazel heart wrenched seeing this. She didn¡¯t know what nightmare he was having, but she wanted to comfort him.
Moving closer, she kissed his forehead. ¡°It¡¯ll be okay, I¡¯m here for you¡±, she held his hand within both her palms now. Kip seemed to calm down somewhat. A short moment later that seemed to last forever, Kip hand loosened, and Hazel let go, unwillingly. She then moved the blanket up to cover the rest of his body, and moved back to her bed.
Not far away, a pair of eyes was watching¡
The next morning, their party wake up early. Raven went out to train while Hazel Followed Kip to the bus stop to prepare for his plan. They didn¡¯t talk much along the way; Hazel was blushing quite severe for some reason. Kip didn¡¯t mind, he was too busy looking at the surrounding cautiously after all.
Raven had given the excuse to train, which seemed like nothing strange to Kip. But Hazel knows otherwise, she could see how much the other girl wanted to see him the last day, all she could talk about was Kip.
¡°Oh no, did she see what happened yesterday?¡± Raven thought. ¡°How embarrassing¡¡± She said softly. ¡°What¡¯s embarrassing¡± Kip asked, looking at Hazel clear blue eyes.
Now she was alone with Kip, and the scene that was playing around in her head of the situation happened yester night did not help a bit. ¡°Nothing really, I¡¯ve just been thinking how to be of help to the team¡± Hazel bit her lip while she quickly came up with a reply.
¡°No need to rush just yet, what I¡¯m planning to do is not that hard anyway. The only danger is if something goes wrong, besides. Wait, someone is here!¡± Kip quickly stopped in his track and command his slime to face toward the direction someone just came out off.
¡°We mean no harm. Can I have a words with you¡± A male voice asked
¡°You are¡ from that night?¡± Kip asked the owner of the voice that came out of hiding, along with six other students.
¡°Yeah, we have been hiding around the buses area. Hoping you would come back somehow...¡± the boy told him with a shrug
¡°Me? Why?¡± Kip asked cautiously. He could see some students holding sharpened wooden spear. Noticing his expression, the boy told his group to put their spear down. ¡°We just wanted to say thank you for last night, you saved our lives after all. We mean no harm; we just want to talk¡±
¡°So you want to exchange information, good, I was looking for you guys as well. My name is Kip, are you the leader of the group?¡± Kip asked. Now it was the boy turn to be surprise. He was afraid Kip would not want to talk to them, why would he after all. A large group was nothing but a burden. He certainly did not expect Kip to look for them.
¡°Yeah, the name is Mike, temporary leader anyway. Why do you want to look for us?¡±
¡°I¡¯ve a plan, let¡¯s find somewhere else to talk. This place is not suitable.¡± Kip said. Moving to a less obvious area, he asked Mike. ¡°I assumed you manage to survive due to the food you scavenge from the bus, correct?¡±
Mike was alarmed, he did not expect Kip to even thought that far. Not waiting for his response, Kip added ¡°Don¡¯t worry, I don¡¯t want your food. What I need is nothing that you have anyway. But what I have will help you survive, answer my question, and I¡¯ll do my best to help, is that alright.
Conversing with his group, Mike face Kip and says ¡°Alright. I won¡¯t lie to you, the food on the bus were indeed taken by us. But not everything, we only carried what we could get our hand on¡±
¡°So there are other groups, alright, here¡¯s what¡¯s going on¡± Kip proceed to give them a basic information about character stat and skills. Mike was most interested in this. He then told them about the red mango tree and the stream nearby. As a precaution, he told Mike group that a dangerous monsters live close to the waterfall and told their group to get water far away from that area as possible.
Hearing the mentions of food and water, the group depressing mood was quickly lit up. They were obviously grateful to Kip. Mike knows how important the information Kip had just given to them casually. ¡°I don¡¯t know what to say, if there is anything that you need help with. Don¡¯t worry and come to us to ask¡± he told Kip.
¡°Actually, that is why I¡¯m here today. I need your group man power¡± Kip replied.
¡°What is it that you have in mind¡± Mike asked, for some reason he was feeling anxious. He however, did not expect what Kip told his group afterward.
¡°I want to get rid of the entire cyclopes race for good¡± he told them casually, as if it was nothing more than going for a walks.
