《RE: Rebirth online.》 End The eerie black sky was spotted with thousands of stars. Well that''s what the casual observer would think, but each one of those was a tactical pulse laser being launched towards a planet. A galactic scale war between two powers, each shot would somehow dissapate; deflecting off one of the barriers of the planets, but all life in the secter had been seared to the ground. I lay there just staring at the sky, wondering what I could''ve done to change my fate. A familiar jingle rang through my ears as a small box appeared.
Title Achieved: The ruler of humanity. As the last surviving member of humanity you have been designated it''s leader. Granting you a ruler class.
Ruler Class Achieved: +30 to all stats.
I laughed, pitifully. My health that had been slowly draining due to bloodloss was suddenly increased by 300 points. I had finally regained some stamina, so I moved my left arm to reach for something. Wrapped around my neck was a small pouch, I reached inside to grab the small translucent blue pill. At this point I was gasping for breath, and my body was wracked with pain. Yet I still felt the urge to keep moving. My hand finally released the pill and it dropped into my mouth. Re: beginning I awoke with a jolt, a cold swear dripping from mybrow. I glanced around the room, my strangely unfamiliar room with a disgusting headache. I felt slimy in my head, a sense of phantom pain that just wouldn''t go away. I walked towards the door when I started remembering things, not about the past... but the future. The shock had my stomach lurching as I brought my way down to the table. I glanced at my dad who had passed out drunk after another night out. Yet, instead of walking past him like I usually did, I stopped. I stared at him for a little bit, and whispered almost inaudibly"goodbye."I walked out the door, trying to remember how to walk. I felt a suprising amount of pressure on my body, and I felt the imbalance in it. As I continued walking, I slowly adjusted, planet readjustment was as natural to me as breathing. I walked across the street when a small red car careened by, the driver was on his phone agitatingly talking to someone. However I was already prepared for what would happen next, he crashed into the nearby telephone pole, knocking it over. Haphazardly walking past it I remembered the day clearly, even the short walk to my college class was fraught with dangers. I paused in the middle of the sidewalk staring at the dusk sky. I could finally take back what I had lost, some sort of machinations had sent me back to the past. I turned the corner and into my college class, all the chairs were pushed to the side, and inside the class were 23 shiny new capsules. Each one had a mark on it that I knew all too well. Three red squares that surrounded a purple circle, the symbol of the federation. Earth had managed to join the intergalactic federation and managed to get technology beyond it''s comprehension. The cost however was beyond our control, we were simply told that everyone not inside of a capsule would be working in the mines to create more. Naturally they supplied us with millions of capsules, but only for people between the ages of 16 and 20, what appeared to the aliens as the prime of the human life span. Every person would eventually be outfitted with a capsule and sent to a cyberspace copy of the universe. Not that it mattered, what was important was that this universe was almost more lifelike than the current one. Some people lost in their delusions simply lived on in the phantom world. The issue wasn''t the cyberspace, but what happened next. Perhaps we were moved from one digital world to the next, but after we left the capsules earth was in flaming remains. All of us left on earth had to use the talents we had gained from within to become a super-power, some to save our relatives, some in pursuit of power. I started as simply a follower, yet as everyone fell around me, I slowly carried on their goals and ambitions. I will help the human race survive, I have to. I quickly snapped out of my trance as a man wearing a black suit and dark sunglasses came in. He spoke out to the class in a domineering way, yet he was very charismatic. "You all will be seated in the capsules for a small test, after we get them calibrated you''ll be able to come and go as you please." I scoffed as he said that, almost subconciously, some people never excited the capsules, rotting away within. He seemed to notice my scoff as he walked up to me slowly, slightly smirking. "Why don''t you be our first volunteer." I simply smiled at him and walked towards the first open capsule. As I climbed inside he glanced at me. "Please remember to lie down in your most comfortable and natural position. After I gave him the go ahead he fiddled with some buttons as the lid closed, darkness engulfed the small room I was in, and I felt a sharp pain in my mind. I felt like I was rushing towards a bright white light, and all of a sudden I was in a large open field. The first time I arrived the shock I felt, I held it all inside of me. Re: Tutorial I took my first step onto the field, small stone altars were placed around me in each cardinal direction. Each stone had a small engraving on it, I knew roughly what they said, but I stilllooked over them. The Forest of Demise - Traveller, heed my warnings if you choose the forest of demise. The shadows within come to life to fight you, should you seek good fortune you must have an apt mind and capable reflexes. A small bunker seems to be within, I hope you can find your path there. The Mountain of the Sky - Brave traveller, legends speak of the treasure at the top of this mountain. A small airstrip filled to the brim with supplies, nary a monster seems to be on the path to the top, so ye must fight be able to brave yourself to reach the end. The Corrupted Ruins - Foolish traveller, cease before you enter. The living shall never be able to enter that accursed place, so unless ye want to join the legion of the dead you''d best back away. The Meadows of Fortune - Newborn, should you be one wise enough to not stake your life on a foolish adventure, make your way here. A small town should supply your needs, return here supplied before you challenge anything.

As this was the tutorial, I could give myself a cursory head start by being as succesful as possible. I weighed my options, if I entered the meadows of fortune I could return with gear and be successful, or I could make do with what I had on me, my hands and feet. My choice was already predetermined however. I walk towards the forest sighing to myself. I go over what I remember from the forest, low ranked shadowbeasts lived within, they were fairly weak, but had incredible ambushing time. Whilst their attacks weren''t strong individually, their claws were laced with a deadly poison that killed within minutes. A small bunker containing gear was about a mile in, but more importantly was killing the stronger shadowbeasts within. As I entered the forest more notifications appeared. Intuition - you feel as though reward beckons you if you are to find the rumoured bunker. Intuition - you feel as though killing the beasts may somehow strengthen you. I was startled, intuition wasn''t an ability that I had used before. Travel through time was a taboo, theories of it were found in many of the libraries in the world. I had read a book known as - The Chronicles of Albaeh. It was a legendary book that raised skill proficiencies of all sorts, as well as even increasing your raw stats. I was lucky enough to obtain one of the pages as a questreward, yet on it contained only one whole passage. The passage in my memory is blurry, but it spoke of two concepts. The sage Albaeh had travelled through time and had realized two things. Some of his memories of the future were still intact, and how even the tiniest different action drastically changed it. He spoke of the future as unaffected by fate. A concept which I am still barely able to grasp. I walk through the forest aware of the tiniest noises, I felt myself slowing down slightly and grumbled. Status effects were an intrisic part of the game, they didn''t show up in your status until your intelligence encompassed it. I was starting to feel the effects of fear; from the beasts. I could feel the precense of a small pack around me, and finally I could feel it as one of the beasts pounced. I may not have been able to use any skills, but my basic combat training I still remembered. I threw an uppercut behind me and it hit the neck of the beast. The beast fell backwards as it suddenly died.

I had intended on hitting the best in the chin, to shatter it''s skull. Luckily the neck was also a weakpoint, I picked up the body. I had no inventory so I just carried it on my shoulders, it weighed only a pound or so, as it was made of shadows. After walking for a few minutes, the beasts tailing me suddenly dissapeared. They ran as if something... frightening was approaching. I glanced at my stamina, a low 20. I crouched on the ground and put the shadowbeasts body above me. Their skin had a slight ability to blend into the shadows. I could feel the ground trembling below me, I didn''t need to be perceptive to know that a large beast was coming. I subtly felt that if I moved I would be found. A beast on this scale might barely be killable if I had a weapon. However, with my measly stats, I had to hide to survive. I sat in a state like that for an hour, in that time my stamina had refilled to max yet I didn''t move a muscle.
Field Knowledge added to passive skills.
The danger I felt had subsided, and I moved my stiff muscles. The beasts carcass had been of great benefit so far, so I caried it with me. A small cave entrance laid ahead, inside the bunker was hidden. The cave itself was relatively harmless, but the bunker contained securityto prevent people from stealing what was within. The cave slightly glowed, as I walked in the luminous moss lined the way. I carefully stepped down, however I could tell the cave was empty. A short walk later a small door was there, mismatching the cave wall. The handle had been completely clawed off, so I simply pushed the door open. Stepping inside, to my left the staircase to the deeper parts of the bunker sat, but to my right were the living quarters. The walls were covered with dust, and pawprints offset the dusty floor. I took a right to scrounge the living quarters first. Any item would be good to pick up. There were 50 rooms to search through, but most of them were for civilians. I continued to the far back and entered the room of the lieutenant. When I had entered the first time, I was able to scrounge only the first floor, and nearly died on the second floor. I already knew that important goods were in the room of the liutenant. A small skeleton, decayed after hundreds of years were inside, however he held a small pitch black knife that was still pristinely clean. The skeleton was inhuman, with only one hand coming out of his stomach. I''d never discovered the identity of this alien, but the knife was necassary for me. I picked it up and a small system box appeared. Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.
Extraordinary! You''ve received a soul bound weapon however it hasn''t accepted you as it''s master.
Unbound Blacksteel Dagger Sharpness - 5 Durability - 7 Option: Can sever electrical signals.
While the stats were untelling, this dagger was a rarity. While the sharpness of 5 was weak in the universe, it was still strong enough to slice through steel as if it was paper. The rare option however was devestating. Against mechanical enemies, one cut can disable their prowess. In this base were some robots that were more powerful than me in everyway, yet this knife would allow me to clear it. I put down the small shadowbeast that I carried with me, and I skinned it and cut out it''sclaws. While I was unable to make any clothes that would fit me, I could make some makeshift shoes to reduce my noise and a small bag. I wasn''t able to tell how good the equipment I made, but it was better than what I had before. I walked to the staircase and prepared myself. At the bottom of the stairs was a small security bot. It was designed to have only 1 hand, however it was extremely mobile. The robot noticed me and started to power on, but I had already stabbed it''s midbody with my knife. The robot powered down, and I continued moving. As I turned the corner more and more robots appeared. However each of them only had one arm, and it was a narrow hallway. A robot wheeled in and tried to punch me, and I quickly dodged and countered. I left it as two more appeared, the robots were too sturdy for me to damage it with any physical attacks, but I had managed to stab one before a quick fist almost hits me. I stab its hand and it''s unable to attack, and it uselessly tries to ram into me. I finish it off.
Battle complete: Hiding surplus information - Basic Knife Use added to passive skills.
The small skill announcement was nice, but it didn''t improve my skills. I continued walking down the hallway and there was simply another stairway down. There were no rooms to search, simply more staircases down. As I reached the second floor, a robot with two arms glared at me. While I expected an easy fight like before. It pounced at me with an extreme speed, it threw its arms down and left a small dent where I was standing just a few seconds before. Had I not reacted fast enough I would''ve died. I quickly pounced and stabbed my dagger at one of his arms. As it couldn''t use it it reached out with his other arm, I slid under and slashed it''s midsection and it finally shut down. While the battle was dangerous, I still wasn''t putting my life on the line. The layout of the bunker was still confusing, at each floor the number of arms simply increased. A small speed increase happened for the robots as well. However each battle was monumentally more difficult. As I was prepared I was still undamaged. As I reached the staircase on the fifth floor, I stared down below. Intuition - You feel as though a deadly enemy is ahead. Do proceed with caution. The intuition confirmed my suspicions a deadly robot lay ahead, and probably the end of the bunker. While the danger wasn''t on the level of the beast in the forest, I could tell a normal person would need more than just a dagger to defeat the bot. The sad reality was, in my body I was just a normal person. So I had to take a risk, I took the dagger and nipped some blood off my arm. As the blood slid onto the blade I could sense it absorb the blood. What had before been a normal dagger now seemed like a blood sucking demon. I sent my mind into the dagger, and it accepted me.
Bloodsteel daggers test: Started - Difficulty: Lunatic
----
Shadowbeast - A rare monster that is made out of pure shadow. The beast spends its life halfway between the shadow realm and reality, never able to step in both. Due to this it contains an extremely high level of stealth, and is extremely hard to detect. The poison it secrets is not poison, but actually devours their shadow the effects of that are better unknown.
Shadowbeast packleader - While a single shadowbeast may be deadly - a pack is hundreds of times more dangerous. The packs precense generates fear, a status affect in an area around me.
Armed ik''luth Robot - in the ik''luth society, arms were a symbol of status, in this case power. Each arm increases the robots level or fighting capacity by 100%. A 1 armed robot is around the strength of a grown man. While a 5 armed bot is 5x as strong in every aspect. However, all of the strength of the robot lies in the arms itself. And they can be created out of any material, even common steel.

Re: Tutorial Phase 2 I found myself on a planet, the ruins of a city in the distance. I could hear the sound of explosions in the distance, the sky flashing with light. The planet was both recognizable and unrecognizable. I was standing on a patch of ground that had already been seared into glass by the pure heat. No sign of life was around, yet the aura of death permeated the air. I was reminded of my time on the battlefield a simple grunt struggling to survive. I took my feelings and walked forward, in my hands was nothing but a dagger, however it was shaded the color of blood. Simply holding it I felt the need to inexplicably kill all things around me. I buried the thoughts in the back of my mind and walked forward. I saw a small bunker in the distance, a small person popped out of the ground and beckoned me to enter. As I got near it, I heard a voice, Kill them ALL The voice was neither overbearing nor kind, in a sense it felt evil. I frowned and walked into the bunker. Inside were a group of people, shivering. They were wearing civilian clothes, and were in shock. A composed man came up to me and started talking "Are you a soldier? We''ve been attacked by who knows what, strange ships appeared in the sky one day, and suddenly the entire city was in flames. We managed to enter a bunker that had been built here before, but whenever someone¡¯s is outside, they get zapped into oblivion." I opened my mouth to speak, when I heard a voice. You need power... I feel your lust. If you wish for power, I NEED BLOOD. Any blood will do, perhaps you will be able to save these earthlings.
Quest Received: Bloodsteel Absorb ??? Liters of blood to awaken the dagger.
Absorbing the blood from humans. Difficulty: Medium
Absorbing the blood from the mysterious aliens. Difficulty: Lunatic
I read it over, and had already made up my mind. Even in this mysterious world, I could not raise my handagainst an innocent human. I spoke out, in a confident voice. "I''m a soldier sent out by the government, we''ve been preparing for this attack for years. I wonder if you could lead me to the secret supplies in this bunker before I set off." I felt this quest wasn''t so simple, the only sign of life is in this conveniently placed bunker. The strange man seemed to be the leader, he begun walking through the crowd. I nodded and followed, the crowd seemed to part for the man. He took me down a hallway and into a strange room. There was a wall and it was covered with a strange light blue security grid. A small hole was in the wall, and I glanced towards my dagger before inserting it. The grid pulsated red, before a small door appeared from within. I was about to enter, but I glanced back and looked at the man. He was looking towards me hopefully, like I would be able to solve his predicament. Even though I knew that this was a trial, I still had the urge to ask. "What is your name?" He seemed surprised, and spoke. "Noah, sir." He raised his hand in a salute. I smiled and walked through the door. It slid shut behind me leaving me in a dark open area. As the lights turned on, there was a sleek open hanger, and inside of it was a sleek jet. Covered with a black alloy, I recognized the model, a Rank A Galactic Stealth boarding ship. Even though it was the lowest rank, it would still be enough to do what I required. I jumped into the ship, and inside was a small stealth suit. I realized that the reason why it was rated so highly is because I would have to infiltrate an alien ship with nothing except a suit and a dagger. I quickly flicked on the power, the ship had a natural autopilot. The hanger door opened as I was launched through the opening. Cloaking was naturally engaged, as I flew toward the air. As I neared the ships, I frowned, they weren''t any ships that I recognized. They must''ve been space pirates operating on some contraband ships. I scanned for the mothership, and when I saw it, I almost whistled. A rank B siege class assault ship. It didn''t have any insignia marking it with a galactic organization. I opened my mouth and spoke to the ship. Dock on the ship in sector I8 of space, 8 degrees. The ship suddenly veered in the motherships direction, and flew past. No one noticed the ship as it landed on the top of one of the hanger bays, it lasered a hole through the roof, and let down an opening. If I jumped down I would have no way to get back into the ship, the stealth suit supplied had suppressors to help when I fell. I looked around the room for anything, and jumped in. The first thing I noticed was the smell, an incredibly noxious smell. I hit a button on my suit and a helmet activated, supplying me with clean oxygen. I recognized the smell, it belonged to a group of aliens that released a toxic stench that was pure poison to humans. They originated from a poisonous swampy planet, but were able to thrive in any ecosystem. They had an incredible knack to evolve and adapt in many different ways, and were able to form an empire spanning galaxies. However humans simply called them goblins, a remnant of the pop culture in society. I walked, my steps silenced by the suit. Unlike the makeshift item I had before, I was much more comfortable with this outfit. I reached a closed door, and simply cut it open. Inside were two goblins, seemingly talking to each other. They were a disgusting green color, however towered at about 7 feet tall. They had bulging muscles and were equipped with a tactical protective suit. I glanced around the room, wondering how to get past them. Inside the belt of one of the goblins was a small laser pistol. I threw my dagger at one of the goblins, and charged the other, grabbing its pistol. I punched it in the head but my hand simply bounced off. I quickly shot it in the chest. Before it could scream at all I quickly shot it in the head. The pistol would be useful, and both goblins were dead. The goblins were much more powerful than a human like me, I estimated their defense to be about 3x higher than my punch. I went to pick up my dagger, and found it embedded in a dried up corpse, slowly fading into dust. I picked up the dagger, satisfied with how it did things. I snatched a keycard from one of the goblins, and opened the door. Walking through the hallways, it was surprisingly empty. I followed the path to the main room of the ship. No one patrolled the hallways, they were incredibly unprepared for an invader. I reached an elevator that would take me to the bridge room, and put my keycard in. As it opened, I prepared to walk inside, but what met me were two goblins. I reached inside to grab my pistol, but one of the goblins already had theirs out. I quickly rushed him, and stabbed my knife into his arm, it sliced clean through. The other goblin left a punch, and it hit my arm. My entire body shook, and I could feel my arm break. I turned around quickly and raised the dagger into his head. It pierced through and started draining his blood. The goblin with its arm cut off was screaming pitifully, and I took my gun and shot him straight through the head. The ruckus that was caused should''ve caused alarm in half the ship, but surprisingly nothing happened, I hit the top floor of the elevator, and searched the goblins for something. The one that was screaming in pain unsurprisingly had a set of painkillers. While they may have been tainted by the poisonous odor, the poison wouldn''t hurt as bad as trying to fight with a broken arm. I quickly ingested a pill, and the pain faded away. I glanced at my health, it had fallen down to 80 from its previous 100. The painkiller would allow me to fight, but I still couldn''t use my left arm. Thankfully I was right handed, but not being able to use both the pistol and the dagger at the same time was a huge problem. I had increased the difficulty for myself simply because I was unprepared. As I reached the top floor, there were 5 goblins working on piloting the ship. There were screens of entertainment, as well as the burning cities. I calmed myself and took out the pistol, I remembered a skill I had before. After using a pistol for almost 5 years, I had been able to use it. Shooting the gun was something I was capable of doing, even if my body wouldn''t be able to follow the actions I could before. Most laser weapons had a burst fire mode, where they could shoot out all the energy left inside in many shots. By flicking your hand when it fired, a few millimeters could change where the shot landed. The shots were fired extremely quickly, however it was a skill that could be used on all laser weapons, as long as you could calculate it correctly. I picked up the pistol from the goblin I killed earlier. Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. I forced myself into a calm mental state, completely stopping my hands from moving at all. My muscles completely relaxed, and I measured where the goblins were. I closed my eyes and tried to sense their locations, and when I opened them. I clicked the shot trigger, suddenly, the gun started heating up. Nearly 12 blasts came out of the gun, and as I flicked my wrist around. I watched where they landed. I had already thrown the gun and started to rush with my dagger. The 12 bullets whizzed by and all 5 goblins were hit. While they weren''t all hit in the head, 3 of them died instantly, and the fourthhad his stomach pierced and arm blown off. While the fifth was hit in the back of the head, it turned around and I saw a set of blood red eyes. A hobgoblin was piloting the ship, while normally hobgoblins were weak. I was still an unranked individual, the raw difference in stats between us could determine the fight. Its pure defense was able to stop a laser from the gun. I already had my dagger out, so I charged the hobgoblin. It roared in anger and pain, his leaders on the ship had all but died, and he was the last one remaining. It spoke in a strange language, and brought out an energy saber. A language translator for humans simply didn''t exist at this point. However, with one arm I was forced to fight a hobgoblin. It rushed by quickly and brought down its blade, I could feel the heat of it as I dodged to the side. I sprinted toward the goblins, trying to think of a way to defeat the alien. Without knowing its status, I would be forced into a blind fight, so I quickly jumped towards dying goblin, and cut my dagger into it. The hobgoblin roared with even more rage. It seemed to be screaming something in its dialect. Suddenly, its arms turned from its disgusting green, to a dark red. I allowed myself a small grin, as he begun to charge me again. Rampage was a skill that removed your mind based stats, and applied them to your physical body. It was mainly employed by mages in close combat, however it was a state that goblins could enter after an extreme amount of mental pain. Without its mind, it was simply an incredibly powerful beast, and I would be able to kill it. It was extremely quick, it had reached me and lowered its blade in almost a second. I dodged to the side and stabbed my dagger towards him. He let the dagger stab into him, but in the process slapped towards my chest. I released my dagger as it lied in its chest. And allowed myself to fly towards the back of the room. I felt no pain, thanks to the painkiller, but my health reached a staggeringly low 8 points. I knew my ribs had to have been broken. The hobgoblin let out a triumphant roar, and begun to charge me once more. However, as it flew towards me, it begun to get slower, as it staggered towards me it''s incredibly bulky body had already became a withered corpse. It slowly dissolved into dust, and on the ground lay its saber. I grinned and coughed up a mouthful of blood, as I gripped the dagger and put it into my belt. The saber also seemed to be the key to the ship, so I brought it towards the command console. Blood was splattered on it, and I inserted the key and locked on the missiles onto the rest of the fleet. I watched as the Rank B missiles destroyed the hundreds of Rank A ships in the sky. Finally I grasped my dagger, and plunged it into the core of the ship. Each ship had a core, it would follow commands to the weapon that was linked to it, what the saber was before. However as I destroyed the core, the ship lost all source of power. The cores used some incredible technology, much like what nuclear power plants were to a candle, the cores were to a nuclear power plant. As the ship''s lights dimmed, I felt the world distort around me, and I was back in the dull bunker.

I smiled at the rewards gained, besides the 5,000 human survivors, the rest of the rewards could be used immediately. The sense of danger that my intuition gave me from the room ahead went from impossible to fairly difficult. I understood that this was an incredibly useful windfall. All of my stats had practically doubled, however, for someone that was able to use more than just strength to fight, I became almost 10 times more dangerous. However, my dagger was the extreme benefit that I had received from the trial.
Morphing Bound Bloodsteel Dagger. Sharpness 8 Durability 12 Option: Can absorb blood to increase durability and sharpness. Skill: Can morph using blood to become a different weapon. Modules: Blood Beam Saber
While I had lost the power to sever electrical signals, I could now morph the weapon. Of course, with this power the weakness of the dagger had been taken away. It''s short range was an incredible downside, however if I could morph the dagger at will to become a rifle or a pistol it could be an incredible tool. I quickly used the power and shifted it into a saber, with a blood red aura coming out of it, I was prepared to fight anything.
