    Helix is now 20 and he is not happy. Many nuisances had come to him before but now that the emperor has given him the peerage of viscount, it seems that every single person in the empire reason for living is to annoy him.


    Now that he has reached the peak of humanity at such a young age, all he wants is to be left alone. He doesn¡¯t like being the centre of every drama in the noble society. He hates the fact that he can¡¯t even take a stroll downtown without being surrounded by people.


    He has now discovered that all he wants from life is tranquillity.


    He now knows that, Everything is just too loud.

    ¡°This village should be perfect! If someone knows who I am in such a remote place, I won¡¯t have a quiet place to rest in the whole world¡± A lone man, dressed in travellers clothes, was looking at the far away Aria Village.


    Aria Village is a small village, that takes its name from the small D Rank dungeon in its vicinity. It¡¯s supposedly the most remote village in the empire, being the last human settlement before the Great Northern Mountain Range.


    Slowly he makes his way toward the village, defeating on the way the few unlucky monsters that thought they had found an easy prey.

    A man, clearly, a farmer that is trying to pass as a guard, stopped me. While showing him a fake adventurer badge I introduce myself


    ¡° I¡¯m Helix a C Rank Adventurer, sent by the guild in the capital to check the Dungeon.¡±


    If I ever meet him again I must remember to thank the old man guild master for this fake badge.


    ¡°C¡­C¡­ Rank! I am so sorry Sir! I didn¡¯t want to be rude, please spare me.¡±

    The guard/farmer, takes me to the square at the middle of the village. On the way I get the chance to observe the village a little, It¡¯s incredibly poor. All the houses are made of wood and most of them look like they have been abandoned . Perfect! Only a few improvements and this will be the perfect place to be left alone, none of those annoying nobles would survive in such a place.


    The Adventurer Guild is a two-story building that looks like it¡¯s about to collapse.


    Inside there is only a bald old man, he should be the receptionist.


    ¡°A new face? Are you the adventurer sent by the main Guild?¡±


    ¡°Yes, I am Helix, C rank, could I meet the Guild Master ?¡±


    The bald old man looked at me for a moment and then started laughing loudly.


    ¡°Ahaha, Guild Master? Lad I¡¯m Brutus, the Guild Master, receptionist, or whatever you wish to call me. I¡¯m the only one working in this guild.¡±


    It turns out that in this village there are only seven adventurers: 4 F Rank , and 3 E Rank, plus the receptionist/guild master, that is a former D Rank.


    ¡°There were many more before, when the Dungeon was still Active. But two years ago after a big earthquake it all of sudden stopped spawning monsters. At first we waited but after a month, in a slow but constant way all adventurers started leaving this place, and after them many villagers too. The Dungeon was the only source of income for this place. It¡¯s only a matter of time before this become a ghost village. I too would have already left, I¡¯m only waiting for a relocation from the main Guild.¡±


    So that¡¯s the explanation for all these abandoned houses. This could be a problem, I want a quiet place but I don¡¯t want to be left completely alone.


    ¡°Well, I¡¯ll check the dungeon in the afternoon I hope to be able to do something¡±

    The Aria dungeon is less than a kilometre away from the village, its entrance is on southern side of the Big First (It¡¯s the a single lone mountain more than 10km south of the actual mountain range) or as some call it the Big One.


    Around the mountain there was once a florid Land, now there is a desert.


    ¡°This is strange, normally even when a dungeon is cleared it only stops working for a week at most, I have never heard of a dungeon inactive for more than a week.¡± The inside of the dungeon is exactly like a normal cave. If I didn¡¯t know that this was once a dungeon I couldn¡¯t have guessed it, at most I would say that this cave gives a strange feeling, as if something is missing.


    The ¡®dungeon¡¯ only has two floor, normally a two floors dungeon wouldn¡¯t be a D rank, but a G rank or F rank at most. What made this dungeon a D rank was an abnormality. The dungeon boss was in fact way too strong for such a short dungeon. Well this dungeon was keen to abnormalities from the start.If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen.     The last room of the second floor is no different from the others, a vacant cave without traces of monsters or even of animals, nothing I can do, I¡¯ d better find another quiet place.

    While I was on my way to the village I heard a voice in my head. Maybe it¡¯s my imagination but it¡¯s better to check.


    I have checked every wall, corner, the floors of every room, but only here in the last there is something strange that I didn¡¯t notice before. From a small crack in the wall air passes, there is a hidden room.


    The wall was pretty sturdy it took me more than an hour before I managed to break it. The hidden room is a clean 2x2 that is completely different from the cave outside. Here it seems that everything has been carved by a master craftsman , but this room too is completely empty. The only thing inside is a small altar and on top of if a small hand sized white crystal.

    I don¡¯t know why but I took that crystal, I had a sensation that it was the right thig to do. When I find someone who knows what it is, maybe I¡¯ll found out what aria dungeon¡¯s problem is.


    Right now I am resting in the only active inn of the village, the landlady was so happy to have a client that she started crying, I must remember to give her a big tip tomorrow.


    While looking at the crystal in my hands I fall asleep.

    When I woke up, in the morning, I couldn¡¯t see the inn room; all I saw were blue screens.


    What¡¯s happening? Transition phase? Lesser God? Deity Core? Many unknown words were displayed. Have I gone mad?


    ¡°No you haven¡¯t¡± a girlish voice spoke, did she hear me I¡¯m pretty sure I was only asking in my head.

    Well I did as I was told and it worked, the screens disappeared. Now I have another problem, I can¡¯t see any girl in the room!!! Am I hearing voices in my head? I really did go crazy.


    ¡°I already told you that you didn¡¯t¡± I keep hearing the voice


    ¡°I am not a VOICE!!! I am the consciousness of the Deity Core!!!¡±

    ¡°First of all, what¡¯s a Deity Core? A Deity Core is the heart of every God, it grows with the God, and get more powerful with him. If a mortal such as you merges with one, the core changes them. Just as it happened with you they become gods, well after the transition phase that¡¯s it.


    Merging with a Deity Core, is the only way a mortal has to attain immortality, but be wary that you can still be killed or die for various reasons, immortality just means that age is now a meaningless term for you. You will be able to live for millions of years but still be as young as a new-born.


    To tell the truth there is only one situation that can kill you, but it can happen for various reasons. Since not even a Major God can destroy a Deity Core physical damage won¡¯t kill you, what kills you is to remain without Deity Power. Think of Deity Power (DP) as an enhanced version of mana that mortals use, well to specify mana is actually a small part of what DP is. From now on DP is the most important thing for you.¡± A physical attack can¡¯t harm me?


    ¡°I told you to not interrupt, anyway no, a physical attack will be able to harm you, even if your body will become much stronger and harder. What I meant is that if your body is destroyed as long as you have DP, your conscience will survive in the Deity Core, and you will be able to create a new body for yourself. Well actually there are some really ancient Gods that have completely discharged the physical body and live only inside their Deity Core. But as a God you are still in the transition phase, until its end think of yourself as a Human with a bit of Godly powers.


    Now about myself, I am a pretty ancient Core, but I was unlucky enough to have passed in many hands, between the last God I was merged with and the original one there have been many. Anyway the last one was a stupid one. She was only a lesser Goddess but ended up angering a mid God, and after being beaten and beaten her territory was restricted to only the Aria Dungeon, she went Crazy and two years ago, she willing dispersed all her DP killing herself.Did you know this text is from a different site? Normally the other Gods retrieve them, but that mid God was too prideful to take the core of a God he hadn¡¯t directly killed, but since such an occurrence is pretty rare the other Gods must have thought that he took me, and so they left me there.

    A week has passed since the start of the transition phase. I have already accepted my new situation. It was pretty strange for the first few days but slowly I am getting accustomed to my new powers and restrictions.


    But let¡¯s go in order, when a week ago I started seeing a strange thing around people I was surprised at first, but the Athena (I named the core, although she told me to not call her that to not offend a certain Goddess) explained to me that that¡¯s their aura.


    This aura thing changes colour with the actions of people, most of the people have a neutral colourless aura.


    The sinners have an hellish red aura, the shade changes with the weight of their sins. People that have done really atrocious deeds have a blood red aura.


    On the other hand Saints have a Holy golden aura, the same as that for a sinner the shade changes with the degree of their holiness.


    There are way fewer Saints that sinners. Because a Sin is enough to change a Saint in to a sinner while from a sinner to become neutral they need forgiveness of a Neutral or of an Heaven God.


    Gods are a bit like that to, there are Neutral Gods, but there are also Hell Gods and Heaven Gods. Nothing really changes between the three alignments when we speak about their powers, aside from one thing. While a neutral God can take any kind of person as an apostle, Hell God can only take a Sinner, and an Heaven God only a Saint.You might be reading a pirated copy.     Anyway, in Aria Village there aren¡¯t any Saints, only four sinners while the rest are neutral people.


    I discovered another shocking thing, I am unable to leave my territory!!! Well technically I can but I lose 100 DP for every hour I spend outside, basically I would die after a few hours. I thought that If my hourly income of DP reaches a hundred, I could travel outside for an indefinite number of hours but apparently I can¡¯t even absorb DP while outside.


    Athena told me that there are two solutions: the first is to travel through the land of friendly Gods, but aside from the fact that there are only godless land, around me, I don¡¯t even know any other God; The second solution is even more absurd, apparently if I become a Full God I won¡¯t lose DP any more, but Full God? Really? A being three whole ranks higher than me.(Transition Phase).


    But I have a bigger problem: people keep leaving this Village, and if this keeps up, my only source DP will exhaust itself. So I had to change my objective, instead of being in search of a good place to rest and live lazily where no one knows me, my first priority has become to make Aria Village become a flourishing village, assuring me a stable source of DP that won¡¯t simply disappear in one or two years.


    So what have been doing this past week? It¡¯s simple, Athena told me that that with my new powers I can make the dungeon work again. That¡¯s pretty good because reopening of the dungeon seems to be the perfect solution.


    So for the first three days I used all my DP to claim as mine a narrow strip of land that goes in a straight line to the Dungeon. Then I had to wait, wait, patiently wait, until just a few minutes ago I finally hit the threshold of 10.000 DP

    I now have 10.000 DP, if I were an actual Lesser God I wouldn¡¯t claim the dungeon since having 0 DP would kill me, but I am in the transition phase so no problem!


    I have however decided that after the end of this phase, given the fact that for the conscience of a Lesser God to survive inside the core, he needs at least 1 DP a year, or 10 DP if he keeps his body, I¡¯ll always have at least 1.000 spare DP as a reserve.

    Well I did know that once claimed I would have to wait, but Athena said to claim it as soon as possible, to stop its decay. First step, of my plan to economic (DP) independence cleared!

    Almost all the new powers that I have acquired require the use of Deity Power, but now that I am forced to save them for my plan I can¡¯t even afford to experiment a little with them. Luckily among the few of them that don¡¯t need any DP to work some are perfect to not bore myself to death while I wait for the accumulation of DP.


    For the first two days of the last week I went around the village, following the villagers in their daily life. But I had to stop because I started to notice that they stared at me in strange ways. However it seems that as long as I wish it, I can see every place inside my territory as if I was there.     Well it does feel pretty strange, but I got used to it after a bit.


    I discovered that I am the ¡®hot topic¡¯ among villagers.


    Viggo the Farm/Guard that I met on the first day seems to be the main source of them, but well I have to say that he doesn¡¯t spread lies.


    ¡°hey, did you hear the latest ? that C rank adventurer for some reason, has not left the village since two days ago.


    ¡°hey did you know? it seems that, Helix that C rank, has now become a shut in, in Martha¡¯s inn¡±

    Well the only sinners in this village are part of the adventurer guild, and with the guild master being one of them isn¡¯t it just normal that I want to keep my distance? But I can¡¯t say this too.


    ¡°I already told you a thousand times, I am working for the main guild¡­ but if you prefer, just think that I fell in love with this village.¡±


    ¡°Yea, I heard people saying that you fell in love, but they weren¡¯t talking about the village¡­¡±


    Again!! This is the only rumour that Viggo hasn¡¯t spread and at the same time the only one that really bothers me. It¡¯s true that I followed Emma, Martha¡¯s daughter around, and that now I watch her with my powers(although they don¡¯t know the latter part) but that was only because she is such a cute kid, and watching her playing with her friends make my heart warm.


    ¡°Come on man, I was joking no need to be angry¡± He tried to stop me when I started to go away without answering , but I just greeted him and left.


    I am just happy that when everything is ready, the villagers will have a much more juicy fact to gossip about.

    Today like always, little Emma has come to wake me up, or so she believes; I am an SSS rank adventurer! Even now that I am relaxed my reflexes and hearing are good enough to wake me up when Martha from downstairs says ¡°Emma it¡¯s time; go wake up Helix¡±. In the past that was Martha¡¯s job but now I am the only guest of the inn so she feels safe enough to send Emma. It seems that she doesn¡¯t trust rumours, good!


    ¡°Hey, Helix it¡¯s morning, wake up¡± Emma shakes me, she never notices that I am awake, what superb acting skills!


    ¡°you are just an idiot that enjoys playing with a kid¡± ( Athena)

    ¡°Hey wake up, wake up I said!¡± she sounds angry, it¡¯s time to wake up; it¡¯s already been a few minutes after all.

A believer is an extremely convenient thing; not only would it give me ten times the normal DP per hour when the believer is inside my territory; it even would give me DP when the believer was outside my territory, (five times the amount he would have given me if he were inside my territory and weren¡¯t a believer).


    ¡°Helios? Never heard of him. He must be a weak God. Mom taught me the name of all the powerful Gods, we tried praying to each of them when the dungeon stopped working, but none of them helped us, they didn¡¯t even grant a blessing.¡±


    That¡¯s normal ¡ªgiving a blessing to someone who isn¡¯t in your territory is extremely pricy, and by granting the blessing you aren¡¯t even assured of making that person your believer, so most Gods directly ignore prayers that don¡¯t come from their territory; or so Athena say.


    I can¡¯t say this to Emma though.


    ¡°He is not too powerful, but he is really kind, try praying to him, it won¡¯t cost you anything. If he grants you a blessing, he is listening to you, maybe if you keep praying he will also make the dungeon work again.¡± It is true that by Gods¡¯ standards I am incredibly weak.


    ¡°really?¡± I got her!


    ¡°Try, in the worst case you would have lost a couple of minutes.¡± Ok, I convinced her, now the hard part, I have to maintain my poker face!

    The dungeon core is 5000DP, which is quite cheap,but according to Athena only the first time will it be this cheap, apparently when the Origin God createdthe system of this multiversehe made it so that doing things is quiteadvantageousfor the first timers.I was asleep and didn¡¯t notice it, butapparently claimingAria Village was free.It isso convenienthaving Athena explains things.

    She is what many would call a stunningbeauty. Long jet black hairscover her back for its total lengthaskin so white that a piece of marble would envy hercomplexion.     Well this sudden revelation surprised me quite a bit, I really didn¡¯t expect it, I totally believed that Athena¡¯s girlish voice was nothing more than a whim. What¡¯s more her delicate appearance doesn¡¯t match her personality at all.


    Well anyway I think that this Astral Form thing is a good thing. Lately I have been thinking that if everything goes in the right way, I¡¯ll live forever. Won¡¯t it be strange talking to somebody every day for eternity, without ever actually meeting her? What¡¯s more, many of the ones I know will most likely die in a few centuries,isn¡¯t it a good thing, to have a friend that will live through the millennia withyou?


    However I understood a thing, Athena is not always listening to my thoughts, apparently to read my mind she needs to concentrate. Since now she can only materialize inside the core she is bored, and so she is always in my mind, even now, aren¡¯t you here Athena ?

    I already told you that by doing so I have a clearer idea of the things I know and what I¡¯ll do in the future, and anyway we are here waiting for the Dungeon Core to awaken, what should I do?

    All of sudden I feel a warm sensation between my hands, I open my eyes and the Dungeon Core is releasing a bluish light.


    ¡°the awakening is starting!¡± (Athena)


    The core starts to shine stronger and stronger, slowly a small figure even smaller than Athena¡¯s appears standing on the top of my palm. This is the second surprise of the night. After having seen Athena¡¯s Astral Body I expected a humanoid body. What I got is a kitten with an unnatural golden fur, and he/she is probably one of the cutest beings that I have ever seen.

    ¡°I love it! It¡¯s an honour for any Dungeon Core when her Deity bestows a name different from the default one¡± Her tail is wagging so fast she must be enthusiastic

    Anyway Freyja¡¯s core is different from all the cores that I have seen during my adventurers days.


    ¡°You most likely have only seen dummy cores, no deity would leave the actual Dungeon Core, in the dungeon. After all if an adventurer takes or destroys a dummy core, making a new one basically only requires a bit of time, while if it¡¯s the real one DP wise the expense can even be considered enormous. I would have told you to make Freyja install it, but you already did¡­¡± (Athena)

    While Freyja takes care of the dungeon part of my plan I return to the village.


    Here in the middle of the square, slowly a marble altar is rising from the ground, it stops at an height of 120 cm, I take out a bit of gold and silver coins from my space bag and after crushing them I use the metal to decorate the altar. Silver columns adorn each of the four corners, on both long sides ¡®Helios¡¯ is written in gold.


    Engraved on the table of the altar there is written: ¡®I am God Helios. Days ago a little child that goes by the name Emma prayed to me, that same day her friends joined her. Today I decided to answer these prayers, I have claimed these lands from the hands of the Goddess that abandoned you. As asked I restored the dungeon. Be grateful because rarely are Gods so generous. Believe in me, I am your only hope for salvation¡¯


    Ok everything is done, time to go to bed before someone notices my absence.


    ¡°You are forgetting something¡­¡±(Athena)


    Ohh yes, I use the last hundred DP to set a spell; the first person to enter in the square, after I left, will activate it, a great lighting will strike directly on the altar, making the whole thing even more astonishing. If everything goes right by tomorrow, every villager will be part of my religion.


    But now I need some sleep, having 0 DP makes me feel powerless.

    Mmm¡­ that was my thunder, it¡¯s sunrise, good everything is working, most likely in at most an hour Emma will wake me up, let¡¯s try to get a bit more sleep while I can¡­

    Someone is running on the stairs, looks like it is time to wake up.


    SBAAM!!! Emma runs inside all excited, did she break the door?


    ¡°Helix, Helix, the dungeon, the dungeon, God Helios, me, he, the village, my friends, the adventurers¡­¡±(Emma) what? She is way too excited.


    ¡°Emma, calm down if you speak so fast I can¡¯t understand anything.¡±


    She took an ample breath and then spoke again:


    ¡°an hour ago, just as Viggo entered the central square a great lighting struck, didn¡¯t you hear the noise? You really have a deep sleep. Anyway when he calmed down, he noticed that at the centre of the square there was something that wasn¡¯t there just a few hours prior. An Altar!!! A beautiful marble altar has been erected by God Helios. He said that because me and my friends believed and prayed to him, he decided to claim this land by hands of Goddess Aria, he even restored the dungeon. At first we thought that it was some kind of prank, but they went to check and the monsters are back. We are blessed, Aria now Helios Village is not going to die.¡±(Emma)


    ¡°I just prayed to him like you told me, you really didn¡¯t lie.¡±(Emma)


    ¡°I already told you that I would never lie to you¡±


    ¡°mom even told me to not trust him and that he wouldn¡¯t help us, but now she has to admit, that she was mistaken.¡± (Emma) she seem pleased


    ¡°You need to come, You are the strongest Adventurer in the village, they want you to check the dungeon.¡± (Emma) this is the first time I have heard her talking this much.


    ¡°Ok, tell them that in a few minutes I will come¡±


    ¡°Are you trying to trick me to get more time to sleep?¡±(Emma) she isn¡¯t convinced, umhh


    ¡°I would never trick you, I just need some time to get ready as I don¡¯t know what danger I can meet in the Dungeon.¡±

    No let her sleep a little more, if needed you can wake her when we are in the dungeon.


    For appearance I am wearing an armour and a sword that I won¡¯t need.

    ¡°So, Emma told me that God Helios restored the dungeon and you want me to check it¡± I said when reaching the altar and the group of villagers near it.


    ¡°Yes, the children told us that they have been praying to this new God for a few days now, and all of sudden this altar appeared. We already sent someone to check the dungeon and they saw some monsters inside, you are the strongest adventurer in town could you please check it out?¡± the old grandpa who happens to be the mayor of the village says with a troubled face. Sensing my slight hesitation he adds ¡°naturally the other adventurers will help you¡±


    ¡°No need; I am used to venturing alone¡± Even if this was a normal Dungeon dive I would never bring with me adventurers of that rank.


    ¡°As you want, are you going now?¡±(Mayor-Grandpa)


    ¡°on my way¡±


    Well I thought I was going alone but apparently almost the whole village is accompanying me to the entrance of the dungeon.

    While making sure that the villagers that I left behind can¡¯t see me anymore I sheathe my sword, and call Freyja out. Even her tail swings happily, while she shows me around the dungeon. Its however quite strange for an experienced adventurer such as myself to see monsters kneel or bow at our passage.


    Overall my new dungeon is pretty bland. A somewhat big cave with some traps and some monsters. Realistically the whole dungeon is less dangerous that the first room of some of the big dungeons I have conquered.


    Looks like the villagers have prayed for me quite a lot, the amount of DP that I have is way more than what I can earn in a night.


    ¡°You are constantly receiving prayers, even now.¡± (Athena)


    Good.


    I pass a good part of my DPs to Freyja who, overjoyed by the opportunity to upgrade her dungeon so soon, starts a purring session. But the new dungeon is identical to the old one for a reason, so her upgrades will have to wait. Now I have to find a way to pass a few hours, I can¡¯t exactly exit the dungeon after only a few minutes and expect the villagers to still believe that I am a normal C Rank adventurer.

    When two-three hours later I exit the dungeon, everybody is still here. Some are sitting, some are kneeling and praying, a few in groups of four or five are chatting, and the children, well the children are happily playing.


    When Emma notices me and starts to run in my direction, the others notice also. While Emma and the other children start to circle around me to see if I am hurt somewhere, the adults encircle me and start to bombard me with questions. After a few minutes of confusion they stare at me, there is hope in their eyes, a short pause, and I start to answer their questions, well the one that I remember at least.


    ¡°Yes there are monsters and traps¡± I say while showing them a few monsters¡¯ cores that Freyja made for me. ¡°Everything is working. I have never been in Aria Dungeon before, but if the stories I have heard were truthful then this dungeon, this Helios Dungeon, is an exact copy of Aria Dungeon. Well there wasn¡¯t however any boss monster, and the dungeon core was a bit different.¡± Hearing me mention the dungeon core a few of the adults frowned.


    ¡°You didn¡¯t touch the core, did you?¡± Said one of them with a voice full of worry.


    ¡°I am not mad, after all the troubles this dungeon had who would touch the core? While exiting I even had to re-kill a few monster that had respawned.¡±


    After some moments of silence, shouts of joy fill the air. Some fell on their knees and started to pray. The children didn¡¯t have a visible reaction but they started to laugh while watching the adults going crazy. One of the children is calling his friends while pointing at something. When I see what captured his attention, I jokingly tried to cover his eyes, but he easily evaded me. Some of the adults noticed too, but most of them are too distracted to notice that Viggo,a few meters away from the group, is kissing a girl.


    The two are so into each other that they aren¡¯t even noticing that the focus of the group is slowly drifting towards them. The couple slowly separated, but still didn¡¯t notice as they started to intensely stare into each others eyes. Just as they were about to kiss again some of the adults started clapping, and the rest of the village followed the trend.


    While children are laughing until their stomachs started to ache, and adults were shouting things like: Finally!; I Can¡¯t believe it took you two so long!; Viggo you did it!; These two are together is this another miracle?; Will I finally be able to have a grandchild?. The couple finally returned to our world, and they got so embarrassed, especially Elle. Eleonora, often called Elle is a one of a kind girl. She isn¡¯t an indescribable beauty, she possess however that kind of subjective beauty that would lead to conversations such has: ¡°did you see that beauty?¡±; ¡°who that plain girl?¡±; ¡°plain? Do you have ham in your eyes?¡±.


    I have never actually spoken to her but she is Viggo¡¯s favourite topic of conversation, so I know quite a bit about her. She is a shy girl that rarely express her feelings, this led Viggo to be unsure of how she felt about him, which led his childhood crush and adult love to be kept as secrets. Well not really as everybody in the village knew about their reciprocal feelings. Maybe the joy of the moment made them win conquer their shyness. Today there is going to be a day long feast.
