《The Lucky One》 Prologue Earth. A planet which holds millions of lives. It sits on a solar system following a fixed orbit of its own. Close interaction with another planet was impossible. This made humanity curious about what is beyond their own planet. Exploration to other planets began, where humans invested billions of money to simply reach the outer space in a hope to find a new life form. While their techbological advancement was developing at a rapid rate, and finding extraterrestrials was becoming close to a possibility, suddenly, something that would change the whole world occured. Out of nowhere, which even the most advanced equipment could not detect, two massive mass of land appeared covering the sky. It was not simply a land mass, its size was on par with earth itself. If observed from afar, it was two planets heading straight toward earth. The two planets came from two black hole which suddenly appeared out of nowhere! At opposite sides of the earth, the planets came closer towards it. Without hesitation, all countries used all of their nuclear weapons with the hope to change the trajectory of the planets. However, humanity''s combined effort was nothing towards the two planets. Even more strange was the fact that all nuclear weapons were simply brushed away by invisible shields from both planets. Every human on the face of the earth trembled in fear, global panic occurred, and crimes erupted everywhere. In only a span of a few minutes, all humans knew that it was the end of the world. With two planets about to collide their planet, all hope were lost. With the end coming, many of human''s dark nature came to light. It was an event which shook the foundation of mankind. Soon, the two planets started to collide with earth. Massive earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and other natural calamities started to happen. Buildings, bridges, houses and other man made structures started to crumble. Many people died, and even animals could not find anywhere safe to hide. Asteroids floating near the planets started to rapidly descend towards earth, causing more destruction to different countries. It was doomsday. Explosions and screaming could be heard at every corner of the globe. Many even turned crazy before dying and simply laughed at the face of death. Most maintained their sanity but could not do anything but pray. There was no hope for humans as the planets cave in deeper in the earth''s surface. The planet shook and glowed red, as massive cracks appeared in its surface showing signs of the planet itself exploding. However, suddenly, the two planets stopped moving, it did not advance further, but instead, stayed in place, where a bizarre light came from both planets and completely covered earth. The bizarre light quickly stopped the pending explosion of earth itself. Even miracle could not describe what just occurred. It was a phenomenon that saved the remaining humans who managed to survive. Everything calmed down, no earthquake, no strong winds, not even a noise of small explosion could be heard. The only difference was that the lands were split apart, almost all structures collapsed, and many dead bodies were littered everywhere. With the silence, humans started to come out from hiding. Most wept from the lost of property and lives, some started to help the inured but there were also a lot who decided to ignore law and cause havoc. Even with the explosion of the earth put to halt, the danger of human exctinction was still present, with no food, and evil humans everywhere, there was no way to tell untill when humanity can hold on. Their only thread of hope was to cooperate and fight to resume the lost peace. However, what they did not expect was that those last hope would also be lost, when suddenly, in an area near where one of the planet collided, several unknown species flew in the sky from the planet. Also, in the asteroids some small species came crawling out which quickly increased in size then started feeding on human carcass. These species caused havoc to earth and started eating even live humans! Some humans fought to survive, but many were too scared to even resist and were eatean full of fear. Those who fought and survived instantly knew that it was a beginning of new age for mankind. Chapter 1: A Man With Dreams. In a area in Tokyo Japan, a man named Shin was walking in the streets like a thug. His clothes were a mess and blood could be seen at the corner of his lips. One could easily tell that he have just been in a common street fight which thugs frequently get into. Most of the people his age would be at school busy studying at a university. He was 19, yet, here he was in the streets walking, unsure where to go. In his hands, he held a lottery ticket full of care while saying in a low tone. "This time I am totally broke, my mom would also probably not support me since I dropped out of college. I do not get why she can''t understand that I can''t get rich by going through a stupid school." Suddenly, his tone raised with intensity as he said. "Look at Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg and Steeve Jobs, they all dropped out yet they became like gods of modern times who could control the economy at a whim. It''s all about luck! luck decides a persons future! I just need some money to start a business and all I''ll need is luck for my success!" Afterwards, his tone became filled with depression again while continuing. "Sadly, I lost all of the money again in that gambling den. If I have won, I could have easily started my own business, and I could have striked it rich! It has been a year now since I started gambling, yet I have not won once, I have lost unimaginable amount of money for my age and even deep in debt. My only remaining hope is this lottery ticket which I bought with all my money. "I still believe god will not abandon me! I can feel that I am somewhat different from others and an extremely important human being. "Oh God, I know you can hear me, this is my last hope, If I don''t win this, I will be chewed to death by those loan sharks. So do not abandon your extremely passionate child" Sighing, he continued his steps towards his home. Currently, he lived in a small dilapidated apartment without even complete basic furniture. To describe it better, he was extremely poor, no work, no money, cheap apartment and no food. The only thing noteworthy about him was his appearance. He looked different compared to normal Japanese guys, since he is half American and half Japanese. His mom got impregnated by an american at a young age and was left behind when Shin was only five years old due to reasons which he does not know. Although they were abandoned, his mom still took care of him, but at a young age, he got bullied for being different and got into fight frequently. Also, his ideals developed differently which made him view studies as a stupid task which delays individual progress. Even with his current state, he still cling on in his ideals. However, to reach those ideals, he can only rely on gambling, which he found to be the easiest way to make money and push his luck to its limits to get the best out of it. With only a lottery ticket on hand, he watched the TV whole day waiting for the announcement of the winners of the lottery. The lottery was his only hope to escape the crisis in his life. Nothing was currently more important to him than the lottery ticket in his hand. It wasn''t exaggerated to say that, for him, it was worth more than his life. After several hours of watching and patiently waiting, the announcement for lottery started. In an instant, his mood changed from complete depression, to excitement and then to pure joy! "I won! I won!! Shit!! I actually won!! I''m now a fucking millionaire!! Bill Gates, today you''ll meet your match! Hahaha!" Dancing around, he joyfully shouted with indescribable happiness. It was the moment he have been waiting for all his life. The moment his life started to change for the better. The moment where he could achive success in life. However, suddenly, in the middle of his joyous moment, an earthquake occurred. All the channels were cut and changed to news, where it announced two planets coming close to earth and will collide in no time. Also, it showed videos of nuclear missiles being launched in a hope to change the trajectory of the planets. He tried switching channel, but every channel says the same. Every entertainment show were cut and replaced by urgent news describing the efforts of the governments to evade the disaster. He could not believe that in such a glorious event of his life, there would be something like this that would happen. There was nothing a normal 19 year old guy could do in such a global catastrophe. Outside, he heard several screams of people; he even saw from afar that there were burning houses and some people were even knocking near his place. He knew that disorder would also follow the announcement, so he decided to stay locked up in his place. His mom was far away from him so he quickly decided to call her. "Mom, are you ok?" After their conversation, he felt a bit relieved hearing the voice of his mom. Quickly, the commotion outside obviously became worse as more screams could be heard and the earthquake started up again. The news also announced that the continuous effort was being put into action to prevent annihilation of human race to ease the panic of mankind. But, it was useless, especially for the counties where the planet was completely visible in their skies. After 45 minutes, the earth shook violently and all electricity in Shin''s place got cut off. He quickly tried to call his mom, but the signal were already cut. This time, he felt really scared, he does not know what was happening or if the combined efforts of the countries succeeded. With care, he hid his lottery ticket in his pocket. Currently it was his most prized possession, and two planets wasn''t enough for him to accept that the world is ending, and that his winning lottery ticket worth millions would go down the drain. Exactly after an hour, a violent earthquake shook his place which caused it to quickly collapse, Luckily, he was sitting beside a table which caught the collapsing ceiling. However, he was still hit in the head, and fell unconscious. .... An hour after the catastrophe happened, Shin woke up, and instantly remembered being hit by the collapsing ceiling. Luckily, his apartment was made of cheap light materials, that was why, only light wood hit him on the head which caused the concussion. There wasn''t even a wound on his head, and he doesn''t feel anything wrong about himself. Quickly, he removed the debris over him and made his way out of his apartment. Outside, he saw several corpse, collapsed structures, burning homes, and even tons of corpses around the streets. Blood stench was everywhere which made him feel like puking. Breathing ruggedly, he tried to look around finding any survivors. He was not the type of person who couldn''t live alone, but at the moment, he wanted to see someone alive to feel at ease. After a few minutes of walking, he have seen tons of corpse which died in several different ways. Some were hit by cars, there were some who were hit by falling objects from collapsed structures, and others were obviously murdered. When he saw the murdered corpses, he felt sick again. But, as a man who somehow ended up living a life of a thug, he tried to maintain his composure and walk away. He wasn''t sure what exactly happened since he was knocked unconscious, but with everything he witnessed, he was now sure that the two planets definitely caused the destruction. But, he wasn''t sure why the earth did not collapse. Based on his basic understanding, and the movies he watched, two planets hitting the earth would definitely cause it to explode. So with a bit of hesitation, trying as much as possible not to look stupid, he pinched himself to make sure he wasn''t dreaming, and also to make sure he wasn''t in hell. "So this is all real. I guess I''m lucky enough to survive." Soon, he heard a screaming voice of a girl. Quickly, he glanced around to look for the origin of the voice. With the absence of other sound, he quickly found out that the voice came from a small alley nearby. He wasn''t sure if it was because he was excited to see another live human, or that he was worried why the girl was screaming, his body moved on its own as he rushed to the alley without thinking. With just a glance in the alley, his eyes went wide. His body trembled, a mix of fury, pity, and fear flashed in his eyes. What he saw was a scene of a middle aged man raping a girl around fourteen with a knife pointed at her throat. The girl wasn''t even completely naked, her upper clothes were just partially opened and a bit torn. Even her skirt was still there while the man was violating her. When the man saw Shin, he simply laughed and continued with his business as he said. "You can do her when I''m done, so scram kid!" It was his first time seeing such a scene, so Shin froze for a bit. But, being decisive was one of his best trait, so when he saw an opportunity, he rushed to the man attempting to tackle him. The middle age man quickly noticed this as he laughed, then stabbed the girl without mercy. This startled Shin and made him stop for a moment, which the middle aged man expected and quickly pulled out the blade in the body of the girl attempting to stab Shin. With his experience in street fights, he was able to barely dodge the knife. And with a punch, he sent the man tumbling away. This did not completely knock out the man. He still quickly stood up and rushed in another attempt to stab Shin. This time, Shin was able to grab the knife on the man''s hand. He wasn''t sure if the man was crazy or if he was really a criminal. There was no hesitation on the way he was trying to kill Shin. They struggled back on forth fighting for the knife. Soon, Shin quickly realized that there was no other way to stop the man other than to kill him. Using his whole body, Shin pushed the man forward attempting to use the knife on the man''s hand to stab him. The knife pierced the man''s body swiftly straight though his hearth causing his hands to fell and his whole body to slump on the ground lifeless. Shin trembled with blood all over his hands and some on his clothes. He was used to fighting on the streets, but it was his first time actually killing someone! His knees felt weak, and his breathing became heavy as he fell on his butt on the ground. Staring at the body of the dead man, his mind became filled with thoughts. He wasn''t sure if what he did was right or wrong. He even thought that if he haven''t interfered, the girl might still be alive. Also, the man would have not died, and it was also possible for him to stay out of trouble. These thoughts came to him like a storm, disabling his ability to properly think. However, after several minutes, he sighed, looked at his hands which was now covered in dried up blood while saying. "I guess the shit I watch on the movies are real." He then stood up and looked at the the girl then said. "So she was really pretty, too bad she died horribly." With a serious expression, he pulled out the knife in the man''s body and walked away. This time, he was sure that a new age for men just begun. And that, each of his decision could either make him live or die. Chapter 2: Encounter With The Unknown
After killing someone, and seeing a murder scene right in front of him. His views of the world currently changed. He was a person who was quick to adapt to situations, but if not for the fact that he experienced such a scene, he would not change as fast. Chapter 3: Lets focus on luck In a room, Kaori and Honoka were laying in a bed sleeping soundly. It was already an hour since they fell asleep, when suddenly, the door of the room were slowly opened. Honoka made sure to lock the door since she doesn''t trust Shin, but, what she did not expect was the one to barge in the room was not Shin, but instead Hideki! Hideki seemed to have found the key to the room, and silently went inside. In the darkness of the night, he slowly made his way to the bed where the girls were lying together. His eyes shone with lust then licked his lips. Even though he looked righteous, he had strong sexual desire which he have suppressed to maintain his image. But after witnessing so much death, and losing hope to live on, he decided to fulfill his desire and immerse himself in lust. There was no law to stop him, and death could come anytime, so he did not wait anymore, but instead acted quickly. Slowly, he tried to lift up Kaori. He chose her since she looked frail and weak and would be the type to not fight back and simply cry. Since Kaori was extremely tired with the whole day of walking and escaping disaster, her sleep was extremely deep. Even though Hideki have lifted her up, she didn''t wake up. Hideki quickly, moved out of the room trying to transfer Kaori in another room, but outside, he accidentally tripped out of nervousness and startled Kaori. Koari woke up in his arms and said. "What''s happening Hideki? Where are you taking me?" Suddenly, it all quickly came to her, she panicked and tried to get off Hideki, but she was too weak. Hideki covered her mouth and prevented her from screaming. Since she already woke up, Hideki decided to use force. He ripped Kaori''s clothes and exposed her body, after which he started licking the girl on various parts, while covering his mouth and holding her hands in place. Kaori, could only cry and struggle to get away, however, she was too small and frail. Not even a minute passed and Hideki already violated and touched all of her upper body. The situation was to much for her, so she fought back more and didn''t care anymore if she was hurt. kicking everywhere, she luckily kicked a table which held a vase in place. With her kick, the vase fell on the ground and shattered creating a noise which startled Honoka. Honoka who was already suspicious of Shin suddenly woke up and quickly realized that Kaori was missing. She knew that guys could do something extremely crazy in such a situation, so she rushed out trying to look for Kaori. Outside, she saw Hideki trying to violate Kaori, her upper clothes were all open revealing her private parts. Even her underwear was already pulled down and tears filled her face. On the other hand, Hideki was filled with vicious look and held Kaori''s hands tightly. Honoka was engaged beyond words with what she saw. She kicked Hideki wildly, throwing him a meter away. Then she grabbed a wooden chair and slammed it at Hideki, making him shout in pain. After which she kept punching Hideki, in which Hideki failed to fight back. Honoka was famous for her martial arts skill in her school, even Hideki knew about it, so he avoided choosing Honoka as target. But, he never expected that Honoka would wake up and attack him suddenly where he lost all chance to fight back. After a while of beating, Hideki lost consciousness and was tied up by Honoka. She then covered up Kaori and looked around trying to find Shin. At the living room, he found Shin sitting in front of the door calmly. She knew that it was impossible for Shin not to notice everything that happened. Yet, he was there sitting without care. Grabbing Shin''s collar, she glared at him then shouted in rage. "Why did you not help Kaori? Did you plan to share her with him?" Shin simply looked at her right in the eyes and said. "I never promised to protect you guys. I do not know what your relationships are, so I have no right to interfere in any event. Also, I might not be a match to Hideki, so it would be to my best interest to stay here and avoid any conflict." Honoka was enraged more with Shin''s words, she lifted up her arms attempting to punch him. But looking at Shin''s expressionless face, she could not do it. She knew that what Shin said was right. Also, he tested Luck!!! one more time, but ended up getting extremely low result, he only got a boost of 1 agility after activating it, which just proved that it really gives random amount of boost in stat which could possibly be based on luck! This time, since he have already gathered enough information about his body and his skills, he needs to know about his enemies. Honoka saw him trying to get out and immediately asked hatefully. "Where are you going?" Shin didn''t look back and said. I need to find an encampment where there are more survivors to ensure my own safety. Honoka knew that Shin was serious about leaving since Hideki acted that way, and she also blamed Shin last night for what happened. She knew that they would be left behind and abandoned if she did nothing. Not willing to go out alone with Kaori in such a crazy situation, Honoka gritted her teeth and said. "Allow us to follow you, I can defend myself and I will also defend Kaori. We will not bother you and only travel along with you." Shin didn''t reply for a while and continued his preparation. When he was almost done, he said. "Alright, but please don''t cause trouble." Also, since Honoka is a woman with values, she doesn''t know what to do with Hideki. Shin noticed this and said. "So how will you deal with him? Kill him?" Hideki roared with fury towards Shin. "Shin you bastard! We planned last night together! You were the one who told me to do it!" Shin glared at Hideki and simply sneered at him. Even Honoka was now confused of who to trust. The way that Shin did nothing last night was a proof that he either approved of Hideki''s action, or it might be what he claimed, that he simply doesn''t want to get involved. Being torn in a dilemma she decided to risk it and rely on Shin. There was no way for her to protect Kaori on her own. She had witnessed the situation outside and it would still be best to move with a man rather than move with only two girls. Also she decided to leave behind Hideki all tied up, she knew that it would be equal to killing him. But, she could not bear to take him with them. The three then ventured outside leaving Hideki behind. Luckily, only after walking 500 meters they met two of those creatures. Honoka went in front of Kaori to protect her, but the actions of Shin shocked her. Shin quickly activated his Absolute Defense and his skin toughened up. Then he activated his special skill Luck!!!. ''Agility +10'' Without hesitation, he attacked the two creature with determination. His movement was fast, it was twice as fast as his previous movement. Even Honoka who was supposed to be a martial artist was taken aback by how fast Shin was. Not even a minute passed, Shin successfully killed the two creature. Quickly, he dissected it which shocked Honoka even more. It was not normal for someone to fight those creatures without hesitation, and even so dissect them afterwards. Shin simply frowned since he still did not find the same pill in the monsters. Currently, he have already killed several of these creatures and he only got one of those pill. Also, the one where he got the pill looked different and bigger. If he compared it, it was like the boss of these smaller creatures. When he thought about it being the boss. His eyes gleamed with understanding. "So is it really a boss type? Maybe only those boss types have those skill pills!" "Why are you dissecting it?" Honoka came closer asking curiously. "Nothing important. I was just curious." Shin answered. He wasn''t sure yet if he could trust Honoka, so not telling him the secret about mana and not letting them gain a level could allow him to feel safer around these two. She was able to beat up a man easily, so it means that if she gains a level, she might actually be a threat to Shin if she ever came to a disagreement with him. After several hours of walking, they encountered the same creatures which Shin quickly killed by simply using a metal bat. Honoka was also eager to help, but she was too wary of getting injured. No one knows what might happen if one get injured by these creatures. It might cause infections or incurable diseases. However, Shin was different, he simply kept charging and confidently dodged all the attacks of the creatures. In fact, it wasn''t easy to dodge them, they were nimble and wild. Extreme confidence is needed to do what Shin was doing. But in Shin''s perspective, it was easier because he have Absolute Defense that made him confident to fight with the creatures. He haven''t been hit once, but if he ever get''s unlucky and got hit, he could rely in his Absolute Defense to possibly block the damage. Also, he did not forget to rest after every fight. Even though he was still not tired, he needed mana to fight the creatures, so resting for a bit was necessary. After killing a bit more, Shin gained another level. Now he is level 3 and with 6 unused stat points. After using Luck!!! several times already, he realized that it is a skill possibly affected by his luck stat. Also, his luck stat is higher compared to his other stats, which proved that it is his primary attribute. "I need to decide sooner or later, but I trust that luck is what I need, so I will risk it and put it all in luck." All his stat points were put into luck making it 26. He didn''t feel any change, unlike when strength and agility was added to his stats by his skill. However, he did not regret his decision and continued onward. From now on he decided to focus on increasing his luck and observe if it can actually affect his special skill. And if it does, it could possibly make him instantly powerful! Chapter 4: Unlucky Turned Lucky
After a day of walking, the three still failed to see another person alive. They avoided several groups of the insect creatures and carefully threaded their path. After all the fighting, Honoka was now awed by Shin''s strength. She doesn''t know why Shin was so strong even though his movement doesn''t looked too polished. She was familiar with different fighting style, she noticed how experienced Shin was in fighting and probably even more experienced than her. But his movements doesn''t even show signs of proper martial arts training. Even Kaori now looked at Shin in different light. Even though Shin did not save her back then, she still thinks that Shin is a good person for even allowing them to stick behind, and cleared the way for them. When the night came, Shin chose a place in a open area with roof deck to stay. This time, he wished to fully observe the movement of the creatures.
However, Shin didn''t even bother with them, but instead, focused on the creatures moving below the two story commercial establishment they were staying.
The creatures below kept feeding on dead bodies. Sometimes, Shin would provoke then and throw a can of half open food towards them, but the creatures ignored it which made Shin realize that it only probably eats humans.
.... The next day, when Shin woke up, he frowned as he saw more of the creatures. It was as if their number increased by ten percent, it wasn''t much, but for someone like Shin who kept observing them from above for a long time, it was a big change. "Seems like theses guys are actually increasing, which means I need to get stronger as soon as possible." Quickly, he tied a rope in the side of the two story building, and which barely reached the ground. Then afterwards, he went down which scared Honoka.
He did not stay far away from the building but simply stood near the rope waiting for any opponent. This time, he activated his skill Luck!!! and it increased his agility tremendously. ''Agility +15 for 3 hours'' Also, with many creatures rushing towards him, he activated his skill Absolute Defense. Quickly, he started killing the creatures. Even they were fast, Shin with his current agility evaded their attacks. One by one, Shin started to kill them, his blunt metal bat could easily easily throw them meters away with one hit, but it could not easily kill them. "I need a sword or spear!" Shin thought while hitting any creature that came towards him nonstop. After five minutes when the effect of absolute defense was almost over. He quickly ran and climbed up the rope to seek safety. He wasn''t confident enough to fight them without absolute defense. Actually, he hasn''t been hit even once by these creatures, so he wasn''t sure if Absolute Defense could stop their attack.
In that single exchange, he have killed more than he imagined which actually increased his level to 4. Without hesitation, he added the new stat point to luck making his luck raise to 28. After climbing up, he saw Honoka''s shocked expression. "So you''re up. We will stay here for the day and observe this creatures more. Tomorrow we will leave." Shin said in a flat tone. Honoka did not reply, but instead went back to Kaori''s side who was still sleeping. Time passed, and every after some time, Shin would go down and kill some of the creatures, then would go back up again to rest for a few minutes. After 3 hours, the effect of the Luck!!! disappeared and his agility came back to normal. Since, he wanted to grind as much as possible, he used the skill again and gained, a boost of 17 points in strength. This time that his strength was more than doubled. One hit could cause the creature to be severely damaged, and another hit could instantly kill it. Two hits was all it takes to kill one with his current strength. Actually without his special skill, it was impossible to get such results. If he placed everything into strength, he would only have a total of 18 strength which was far from his current 27 strength. After a whole day of grinding, Shin''s level went up to 6. When he reached level five, it became extremely hard to gain a level. It seemed like, the higher he goes, the harder it gets just like in games. Also, he placed all of the stat points on his luck, which was now 32. With his special skill Luck!!! already used twice, he had no choice but to simply wait for the next day and observe the creatures below. This time, Honoka could not resist to ask. "How are you able to fight those monsters without getting even hit once. I have been observing you for days now, and sometimes your strength would be terrifying or your speed would be unbelievable. "And why do you keep killing those monsters randomly, what are you trying to accomplish?" Shin stared at Honoka for a moment then sighed. "Tomorrow I will tell you, but I will look for a weapon first."
"Do you know where I could get a sword here?"
Shin looked at her then smiled. "Alright. You will need it anyway." Honoka didn''t mind Shin''s words. What she wanted was to carry a blade for herself so that if Shin left them, she could protect herself and Kaori. ... The next day, Kaori woke up before everyone else and prepared food. When Shin woke up, Kaori handed him bread and some opened can of tuna.
"Even though she was violated and knew that I did nothing to stop it, she still went through her way to say that. "It seems like this Koari has some strong will, even with a frail looking body." After that, they quickly ate their fill and went down using the rope that goes down to the building. This time, they avoided the creatures as much as possible, and since Shin have already killed several creatures below the building there were not much left. Which gave them the chance to flee. Quickly, they ran nonstop entering various streets to avoid any creature. Shin was not confident that he could fight a swarm of those things so they decided to stick into hiding.
"Shit. Why vitality." Shin frowned.
But when he activated his Absolute Defense skill, he felt that it was slightly better than before. He realized that if a skill is paired with a high stat, it would increase in effect. In front of him were ten enemies which crawled at fast speed. Behind Shin were Honoka and Koari both slightly scared of the numerous creatures. With his added vitality, Shin was like a tank that rushed through the creatures. Honoka noticed that he was slightly slower, but instead, even with his average body frame, he seemed to feel like a sturdy person. This time, Shin fought hard, to kill the enemies. It was not as easy as having high strength and high agility, so in the end he became surrounded. Many attacks came at him at once which scared Honoka and Koari even at a distance.
When the attacks landed, to Shin''s shock, the scythe like legs of the insect failed to pierce through Shin''s skin and failed to even make a scratch. "So with this much vitality and with the Absolute Defense, I am invulnerable to these small creatures! "So it wasn''t really bad luck that I got vitality!" With his toughness, Shin became more aggressive and attacked any creature close to him and even ignored dodging!
Honoka and Koari were now staring at him differently. It was like he was no longer human from their perspective.
Honoka regained her senses from shock and replied. "Yes It''s only a block away." Shin then quickly proceeded to the direction Honoka was referring to. Luckily, no more of those insect looking creatures were on the way. So with haste, Shin entered the wrecked dojo and glanced around. In a corner almost covered by the collapsed ceiling, he saw swords lined in a wall as ornament. They were japanese swords which seemed slightly ancient.
The color of the two swords were different, one was red and one was black, he wasn''t knowledgeable about swords and it looked all similar for him. So he only chose based on color and picked the black one. Then gave the other one to Honoka and said. "Now you''re ready. Do you know how to use swords? Shin asked."
Shin didn''t mind it much and started explaining. "Once you kill a good amount of those creatures, you will gain a level. If you ever played RPG games, you will understand easier. "Once you gain a level, you will have stats which are represented in number and you will probably have a skill. "That is the reason why I survived earlier and was even able to wipe out the enemies. "Explaining won''t do much, you should kill one of those creatures first." Honoka''s eyes showed eagerness as she held the sword tightly. Along with Shin, they went out to gain a level. Kaori silently followed behind them close to Honoka. Not far away, they saw four of the creature crawling towards them. Shin quickly activated his Absolute Defense skill and lured the creatures. "Now! Attack them one by one." Honoka''s figure quickly flashed, her movement was remarkable for a woman. With a slash of her sword, it went in the creature, however, it did not kill it and only damaged it.
Shin could not believe that with such thin arms Honoka was able to cut the creature and successively threw quick slashes. The flow of movement was beautiful even for Shin who has no background in martial arts. Honoka''s beauty also blossomed during the fight. It was as if she was simply performing a beautiful dance. Chapter 5: Information could save your life. Honoka was filled with disbelief when she learned of the information, also the blue motes of light around her seemed extremely magical. "Focus on the blue orb in your thoughts to know the information about your skill." Honoka quickly did what Shin said, but there was no useful information other than the skill Sword Flash consumes 10 mana, and that it last for 5 minutes. When Shin was told about it, he frowned. He also tried checking his special skill Luck!!! but failed to find anything useful. Unlike his skill Absolute Defense which he got a basic description, special skills seemed to be something different, and effects could only be known if used. Shin was eager to test out Honoka''s skill, but he was also curious about the title she got. After some thought, he glanced towards Koari and said. "Honoka, give Kaori the sword and let her level up too." Honoka wasn''t sure if it was right to let someone frail like Koari to kill those creatures so she hesitated and kept hold of the sword. With that, Shin quickly went out to lure some enemies. After a few seconds, he came back with several creatures following behind him. "Honoka, quickly give Kaori the sword and let her attack these creatures fast." Koari had a firm expression and grabbed the sword then started stabbing the creatures which Shin tightly held in place. If not for Shin''s Absolute Defense it would have been impossible to create such situation and enable Kaori to kill those creatures. Unlike Honoka, Kaori had a hard time killing them, but she brimmed with determination as she kept stabbing the creatures. Honoka was beside her assisting her in case something goes wrong, and a creature attack her. After a while, Koari killed enough for her to gain a level. Information flowed in her mind and experienced the same thing as Shin and Honoka. Level 1: Holy Beast Summoner Strength : 5 Agility : 5 Vitality : 10 Spirit : 25 Luck: 15 Mana : 250 Unused stat point : 2 Special Skill : Summon Holy Beast. After receiving the information, she quickly focused on the orb inside her thoughts since she already heard it from Shin. Then she got the information that the skill Summon Holy Beast requires 150 mana and the summoned beast could only last for 30 minutes. When she told Ming Li the information, Ming Li thought deeply for some time and asked. "Do you love animals?" Kaori was shocked how Ming Li knew that trait of her and she nodded eagerly. "How about you Honoka, do you like swords?" Honoka also nodded, it was somewhat obvious that she like swords from her movement. She practiced several martial arts, but kendo was the thing she was most passionate about. "So the special title is somewhat linked to your passion, and a skill is manifested along with it." Shin thought as he analyzed his own special title. With that, they proceeded with their journey, but this time, along with Honoka, it was easier to kill the creatures. While slowly walking, a sudden occurrence startled Shin, a swarm of creatures suddenly came at them from an abandoned building. There were around thirty, which was the most they have encountered so far. Luckily, Shin''s vitality is still boosted by his special skill. Quickly, he used his remaining mana to activate Absolute Defense and his body to block the swarm, while Honoka followed closely behind. This time, Honoka activated her skill, her sword felt lighter as if it was not even existing, mist started to appear from it and she felt that swinging that sword was incredibly easier. While Shin was killing the creatures on his path, Honoka, with her skill, sliced a creature beside Shin. The movement of her slash was extremely fast, and only after images could be seen. Even Shin was completely amazed by it. Quickly, she was able to kill the creature with three slashes which did not even last a single breath! At the back, Honoka eyes also glowed with blue light. In front of her, a magical symbol appeared in the floor, then the blue motes of light quickly rushed above the magical symbol which created a giant blue light that quickly transformed into an image of a wolf and solidified. When the light dimmed, a real white wolf with golden eyes walked out of the magical symbol. Then Kaori quickly ordered it to attack the creatures.This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. This time, Shin was totally shocked, he never thought that something extremely magical like that could actually happen. Also, not only was it magical, the wolf was strong. It ripped the creatures apart and easily dodged its attacks. After a while, they successfully killed all 30 creatures, with shin killing the most. In the single clash Shin gained a level, Honoka gained two, and Kaori also gained two. Shin quickly added all the stat points into luck, but Honoka was clueless on where to put it. On the other hand, Kaori did not even ask for Shin''s opinion and quickly added all of her 6 unused stats to spirit. It was like she was familiar with games and knew what she needs. After which, her mana increased by 60 making it 310. Shin noticed the blue glow on her when she added it all to spirit, so Shin asked. "What happened?" "I placed all my stats into spirit." Kaori replied. Shin was a bit shocked by Kaori''s quick decision making, but he did not say a word anymore and asked Honoka where she allocated her unused stat points. "Err.. I still don''t know where to put it." Honoka said. "Put it all to agility, it can make you several times faster." Then Shin sat in a corner to rest. He have been fighting nonstop and have drained most of his mana, he needed to rest to recover it. On the other hand Koari was petting her white wolf on the side along with Honoka. "So that wolf is really strong, I guess having them level up was a good thing." After several minutes, the wolf dissipated into motes of blue light. After which Shin asked. "Can you summon a different beast?" "No. I can feel that the wolf is the only thing I can summon." Shin didn''t proceed asking and sat there resting as much as he can. After some time, when his mana was full again, he stood up and proceeded along with Honoka and Kaori. This time, he had more confidence in facing the enemies with the help of these two. Also, as long as there was no other creature more powerful that what they are fighting with, he was confident that they could easily kill them all. Suddenly, while walking carefully, they heard people shouting not far away. In the direction of the noise, not even hundred meters away from them, there were several people together using metal pipes to fend off three creatures. Slowly, Shin along with the two, walked towards the group. They knew that it might be dangerous, but still, it was their only chance to possibly find other people who were able to create an encampment against the creatures. With the amount of people trying to fend off the creatures, it was possible these group of people were able to gather some survivors to work together and help each other. When he came nearer, he noticed that the people were staying close to a four story building nearby. Amazingly, the building was still intact and only a few cracks are on its walls. In the window of the building, he saw several people inside, there were even women and children. "So there''s a lot of survivors here." Shin thought while approaching the building. "Stop!" A middle aged man''s voice suddenly came from the building. "What do you need? And tell us if you have been wounded by those creatures!" Shin furrowed his brows as he answered. "We are a group looking for a safe place to stay. We have been walking for some time and just happen to find this place." When Shin said this, a man appeared in a window at the third floor of the building which was visible from their direction. The man stared at them as if assessing them then asked. "What is your level?" Shin calmed his expression as he answered. "I am level 2 and the two behind me are level 1. I have just recently killed a few of those creatures which made me realize that killing them makes humans gain a level." The man up above stared deeply at Shin, then after a while said. "Alright. Come in using the backdoor. There, you will stay for 5 hours before being allowed to enter." Shin wasn''t stupid, he knew that there was a reason for them to be required to stay there for 5 hours. The only reason he could think of was that the thing about being injured by those creatures. He have watched a lot of zombie movies and was very familiar with the infection they can give. He also assumed the same; that anyone injured by those creatures could get some sort of infection. Quickly they entered the backdoor and found themselves in a small room which looked like a stockroom with no windows and only another door which obviously leads inside the building. Then suddenly, a voice from behind the door said. "Please wait for five hours, this is for the safety of everyone." Shin then asked. "What will happen in five hours?" The voice did not respond for a while as if thinking if he should answer or not, but in the end, the voice still said. "If you were injured by those creatures. You are more likely to die in five hours. Your body will then explode and ten or more of those creatures will come out of your body!" Shin''s eyes went wide when he heard of the explanation of the man behind the door. He could never imagine such effect from simply being injured. Then he continued inquiring. "So why is it that the dead body does not exhibit the same even though they are being bitten and eaten by those creatures." This time, Shin got a quick answer. "I do not know, but what we observed is that it only affects live humans. It seems like it needs a live host for it to incubate its eggs." Both Honoka and Koari now also felt scared of the creatures. They knew that it might have some sort of effect, but being used as an incubator was something which terrified them." "How many people in your group suffered this?" Shin asked. "Around five. So right now, we are currently strict on this just to make sure that the creatures could not enter the building." Shin then sighed and asked another question. "So how high are the levels of the people here?" The man did not answer the question and chose to keep quiet. So Shin did not inquire about it further and also chose to stay silent and wait for the five hours to pass by. After five hours, a man opened the door. He looked like a normal salary-man wearing formal clothes which was already full of dirt and with him there were two more men wearing the same type of clothes who seemed to be unusually familiar with each other. Shin''s group were taken to the second floor where the middle aged man who allowed them to enter was supposed to be waiting. Along the way, Shin saw some people inside the building. There were more women than men, and there were some children. He also noticed that the whole place was a small hotel with several rooms inside in the second and third floors. "So you are all not injured. Do you wish to stay in here?" A man said while walking towards Shin and the group. When the three people escorting Shin and his group saw the man, they all backed up and stood behind Shin''s group as if showing extreme respect to the man. Shin then looked at the man in the eyes and said. "My name is Shin, and yes we would like to stay here if possible. We have been looking for a place where a lot of survivors gather to seek safety." The man then smiled and responded. "Alright. Since you aren''t infected, you can stay. Also, avoid swinging that sword around inside the building.You can chose any vacant room to stay." Then the man pointed at the person who led them to the second floor and said. "Also you can ask the rules of the place to Koji over there."
