《The Immortal Curse》 Prologue Tell me something. Have you... ever wished you''d disappear? Have you ever thought of yourself as a simple waste of space that deserved nothing but pain and heartbreak... have you ever wanted to be someone else so much that you just want to kill yourself and see if it works? I don''t know about you, but I have. So many times. See, people keep saying that everything''s going to be okay. Everything''s going to be fine, you''ll forget about this one day, you won''t be the same person you are now years later... But they''re wrong. Nothing was okay. Nothing''s ever going to be okay. I''m damaged, and there''s no cure for mental scars. Especially if it''s the kind that decays as time passes by. ~*~ August 17, 2013. In the middle of a room painted with dull, lifeless colors, a little girl was happily humming to herself as she scribbled in her notebook. The mood she was giving off hugely contradicted the bland atmosphere of the room. She was like a tiny ball of light in the middle of the dark. She gave off a nice, warm feeling, that was soothing to the soul. Unfortunately, in this dump of a world, such pure, kind things always end up tainted. It was the sad reality. A knock interrupted her fun alone time, and the girl curiously looked up and stared at the door, wondering who was behind it. "...Celia?"This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it. There was only one person who usually entered her room, and that was her personal maid, a middle-aged lady with a rather intimidating frown that immediately melts away at the sight of her little boss. Her name was Celia, and the little girl had grown used to her maid bringing her a glass of milk every night, exactly an hour before bedtime. No one answered. The thought of it being one or both of her parents crossed her mind, and the little girl smiled brightly. "Mom? Dad?" She bounced in her seat excitedly. "Wait! I''m just, um, gonna take care of this..." Her voice turned quiet at the end as she brought her notebook and pencil back to her drawer as quickly as she could. After getting done with the task, she ran towards the door, smiling widely. Before she could open the door herself, it was slammed open and the little girl jumped in surprise. A tall figure stood in front of her, and the girl squinted to confirm if the person was who she thought it was. It was hard, though, as she had never seen her dad in person, and only in pictures that Celia gave her, due to her incessant pleading. Her mom would visit her but even that was rare. She wasn''t very happy with that, though, as her mom was not what she expected at all. She was cold, and only spoke to her about how she should act, where she was able to go, who she was supposed to be friends with, how high her grades were supposed to be, and threatened her to fulfill each and every goal so she would not tarnish the family name. "...Dad?" She mumbled lowly, an excited smile slowly making its way onto her face. The tall figure stepped forward and carried her in his arms. "Yes, kid. I''m your dad, and I''m getting you out of this hellhole, and away from that crazy woman." The little girl was very happy. She sulked at the thought of leaving Celia, but then realized that she could still go back and bid her a proper goodbye, or at least send her a letter. She was excited. This was going to be the best chapter of her life. Her dad was with her, and she would never have to see her ''mom'' again. She bit her lip, remembering all the rejection she had experienced from her supposed mother. It hurt that she had to leave without patching things up, bit then again it wasn''t even her fault to begin with. Plus, she was pretty sure there was nothing to look forward to with her mother in the story. Positive thoughts filled her head as she smiled. She had her dad with her now. She couldn''t even explain how happy she was at the moment. She was wrong. Because that night, was the night she regretted the most. It was when everything changed, and it wasn''t a good change, either. ~*~ This is my first time writing a story of this genre, but I was inspired, so...yep! English isn''t my first language either so please have mercy on me XD Chapter 1: The Outcast "Freak." "Weirdo." "Retard." I walked down the halls of my high school with my head down, hugging my bag close to my body. I never dared look up, even when I heard them whispering rude things behind my back. I never said anything either. I just kept my head down, like always, and tried to ignore all the hurtful names that they''d come up with, just for me. It''s almost flattering, really. You know, knowing they spent minutes--or even hours--trying to come up with something less common. They''ve been doing this for years now, and it''s become some sort of game that they can play anytime. I used to hope I would get the chance to be friends with the new students, too, but yeah... They went along with the name game. Very disappointing. Surprising? Not really. The bell rang, and people started moving around, harshly may I add, much to my dismay. People shouldered past me, mostly jocks, making me stagger backwards. Thankfully, all my things were in my bag so I didn''t have to pick anything up. Cursing under my breath, I looked back at the rude people, glaring at their backs. They stopped walking, turned around and smirked at me. The blonde guy in the middle made a sad face and shrugged, as if saying ''too bad''. I looked back down and stayed there. More people intentionally bumped shoulders with me but I paid them no mind. I looked at the shoelaces of my converse shoes and continued to stare at it despite hearing the harsh comments people threw at me. It was something you eventually get used to, after going through it for most of your life. "Oi, you dumb piece of shit, where''s my homework?" I jumped at the familiar deep, throaty growl that I had grown accustomed to these last two years. Biting my lip, I adjusted my glasses and pulled a folder out of my bag with shaky hands. "Here." I was going to extend my arm to give it to him but he snatched it from me instead. Well... I guess that''s one way to take it, too. He scanned the pages before grinning and tossing me some dollar bills. "Good job, retard. You know, you''re really smart, but still unbelievably idiotic." He laughed and the other kids laughed with him. I tilted my head. I wonder if they''ve realized that the bell already rang, and that the insult didn''t even make any sense. As expected from a useless "bad boy" who does nothing but fuck every girl he sees and pay people to keep him in the pilot section. Oh, um... Well, there wasn''t even much to expect. Really. "Hey, you little fuckers!" A familiar woman screamed, greatly alarming the bullies. "What do you think you''re doing here, you stupid sons of a bitch! You all are fucking late for class! Hurry up or I will shove this fucking stick up your conceited assholes!" The boys gulped, before turning around and taking off to somewhere. Whether they were going to their classrooms or the building''s emergency staircase to smoke weed, I didn''t know, nor did I care. "Oi, girlie, what the hell are you still doing here? The offer still stands, you know?" The lady scowled, waving her stick as if attempting to intimidate me. I simply smiled, and bowed. "Thank you for saving me." Her eyes widened in shock. "B-But I wasn''t--" "I know." I grinned. "But you still saved me, be it intentionally or not." "You..." "Well, I''m already late for class. I better not be wasting any more time now," I said, glancing at my wristwatch. "See you around, Ms. Valor." ~*~ School was boring. The things the professors were teaching us was easy as hell. Well, for me, at least. My other classmates were probably suffering internal brain damage from all the ''complicated'' and ''unreasonable'' shit they were talking about, except a certain nerdy classmate who always aces her exams. Me, though? I honestly didn''t care. You see, I was born with some mad-scientist-who-plans-world-domination-like intelligence. Except I wasn''t really into the world domination part. Mad... hm... a little, maybe. It most likely has something to do with my mother actually being a genius. Other people call her the unparalleled genius of her generation, but I don''t really care. She''s still irritating. So yeah, whenever I actually have free time, and I''m not being beaten or taken advantage of or anything, I read things. I also have photographic memory so... Maybe my brain is a little bit over-the-top. But you know, my body is... for a lack of a better word, pathetic. I''m all bones and no muscle. I don''t really care, either. Not like I''m gonna have any use for that. Yes. I am physically and verbally abused by people. But muscles and self-defense didn''t matter to me. After all, the damage has already been done. And no awesome karate move could bring me back to who I used to be. ~*~ I couldn''t be happier when the bell--finally--rang. Standing up quickly as if my chair was on fire, I gathered my possessions and ran out of the room. I wasn''t even ten steps away from the door when someone in the halls decided to trip me. Instead of jumping over it like most people would, I slowed myself down and let the other person indulge in his or her own satisfaction and delight. I crashed to the ground, using both of my hands to cushion my fall. Laughter echoed in the halls but I paid them no mind, standing up and patting my jeans wordlessly. "Watch where you''re going, freak." I turned around and saw Hailey, one of my bullies. She had wavy brown hair, the tips reaching her waist, and bright blue eyes that glimmered in amusement. She wore the school''s baseball team''s uniform, and I had to say that it did fit her perfectly. The girl was good-looking, yeah, too bad she wasn''t as pleasant on the inside as she was on the outside. I wouldn''t go as far as saying she was the devil incarnate, but she was a bitch. Well, everyone is mean to me, so I guess it''s nothing to be surprised about. I simply nodded at her clich¨¨ statement and turned back around, continuing my ''journey'' towards the gate of the school. It was a miracle no one followed me outside. They usually stalk me and drag me inside some dark alley before beating me up. I didn''t really care much. It still hurts, and there''s the constant bitterness and resentment, but I was used to it. I was relieved. For a few minutes, at least. "Hey, girl." I didn''t reply. "Bitch! I''m talking to you!" The guy grabbed my arm, and I almost punched him right there and then. I stopped walking. I tried to calm myself down by taking in a deep breath. Once I was confident that I wasn''t going to do or say something stupid, I turned around. "U-Um... sir? What do you need?" Time to put my acting skills to use. The guy looked me up and down, before licking his lips. Uh-huh. I know that look. This isn''t good. "Mind spending the night at my house?" I decided to play the fool as I stalled, my eyes darting everywhere but his face, trying to find a way out of this unfortunate predicament. "W-What do you mean, sir?" "I thought Asian people were supposed to be smart," he grunted. I''m not Asian, though? I just happen to have chinky eyes and I''m wearing black contact lenses to cover up my heterochromatic eyes. My left eye was a darker shade of blue, and my right eye was red, kind of like blood. Freaky, I know.A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. "..." "Well," he clicked his tongue. "I''m gonna get straight to the point and ask you: want to... to hook up tonight? It''ll be fun." I had the urge to facepalm. I was pretty sure my face was screaming ''no''. I could smell the stench of alcohol in his breath, too, so I guess the stupidity is because of him being drunk. "No..." I pulled my arm. "Now, sir, will you please let go of me? I have to get home early." Well, shit. Daddy dearest might kill me this time. His grin turned into a frown. Ooh. I think he got offended. Fuck. I felt his grip tighten, and I flinched at the pain. Whoa, someone has anger issues. "What did you say?" ...This is so stupid it''s actually starting to piss me off. "I said no. No. Is that too hard for you to understand?" His face contorted into a frown, making him look even more hideous than he already was. "You little bitch," he hissed. "You''re coming with me whether you like it or not!" Heating this, I started struggling. I pulled my arm back with every (useless) bit of my strength, to no avail. The guy was too strong. He chuckled, and I started to panic. Shit, I had to get away from him. I just know, I know he''s either going to rape me, kill me, or both. "You''re not getting away from me, sweetheart," he grinned victoriously. I stepped back, forcefully pulling my arm, and he pushed his left foot forwards to balance his weight, leaving the the spot between his legs wide open. Seeing an opportunity, I kicked his--you know--as hard as I could. He immediately let go of my arm, doubled over and yelled curses. I took advantage of the moment and sprinted away from him. I ran as fast as I could. I didn''t stop even when I was already having a hard time breathing, and only skidded to a stop when I thought I was already safe. I rested my hands on my knees, heaving and wheezing. I put my hand on my chest, clutching my shirt. Ugh. My heart and lungs hurt. I never want to do this again. Once I was able to breathe properly, I stood up, and sighed. "Not so fast, girlie." ...Fuck. The soft feeling of cloth over my nose and mouth was the last thing I felt before everything went black. ~*~ My eyes are burning. My body feels heavy... I can''t move at all. My brain was hazy... and I can''t remember what happened. Everything was jumbled. I felt so helpless, and I wanted to bash my skull against the wall. I opened my eyes. It was... dark. From the silence in the room I''m guessing no one''s here with me. I was somewhat comforted by that fact. I tried to move my limbs that were only starting to recover from... I don''t know, numbness? ...He drugged me. The spot between my legs felt weird. It... It hurts. ...Guess he took his revenge. I sat up slowly, wincing at the pain. For some reason my body felt like it was on fire, too. I stood up, wrapping the blanket around my naked self, touching the wall and flipping the switch on once I found it. I squinted at the sudden brightness, cursing. Oh yeah. I still haven''t removed my contacts. That was probably why my eyes hurt. I looked down, and that was when I saw it. There were multiple lacerations on my body. ...I guess he was that angry. I didn''t know why I didn''t feel anything. I know I should feel violated, angry, sad, regretful or something... but I wasn''t. I wasn''t any of that at all. It''s like... I don''t know. Maybe I''m in shock? I stared at the wounds for a few seconds before looking around. The room was... dirty. There were posters of naked girls on the walls, empty bottles of beer scattered around, there was garbage everywhere. It looked like an abandoned place to be honest. The light was kind of dim, and the light switch had black smudges instead of the usual clean white ones. There were also scratches everywhere. The walls, the ground, the furniture... Damn, he probably had a loose screw in his brain. Not that I had the right to say anything... I saw a wardrobe, and sighed in relief. I walked over to it, careful not to step on the shards of glass on the floor. I opened the wardrobe. There were a few shirts, and three pairs of jeans. They smelled... gross. Well, at least I wouldn''t have to walk home naked. I put on some clothes, before getting out of the room. Oh. So this was an apartment. Should''ve known he didn''t have much. The air outside was cold. I clutched the fabric of the smelly hoodie and started walking. I got a few weird stares here and there as I walked the streets. I guess I should be thankful that I knew where I was going. This place was near my house. What can I say, we lived in the bad part of the city. As I walked, the drug-induced haze I was in started disappearing, and I started remembering things. I... I think I would have preferred it if I hadn''t remembered anything at all. I don''t know what drug he made me take, but after I fainted, he forced me to drink water once I woke up. Then everything started to get blurry. I saw him doing things, but I couldn''t feel it. It was like I was just watching from somewhere inside my head. I heard him say things, too. I tried not to think much about the things coming out of his mouth. They made me feel even more... tainted. I felt something warm dripping on my hand. I reached towards my eyes. I was crying. Oh... Well, this is new. I sniffled, rubbing my eyes. I didn''t care if the contacts scratched them. I didn''t care if it burned. I didn''t care if it hurt. In fact, I didn''t give a fuck anymore. I guess I reached my limit. ~*~ Linda was on her way home. It was dark, but the streetlights made everything bright. It was still scary, though. The fact that there were a lot of people walking around comforted her a little, but she still felt a bit anxious. She wasn''t good with darkness. She ran a hand through her blonde hair as she waited for the green light, sighing. School had been a pain in the ass today again. Her students were wild and cruel. Even though she''s supposed to be on her school''s side, she couldn''t help but think that the students of their rival school was better than the narrow-minded kids in theirs. She briefly remembered the face of one of the few students that had interested her. Her name was Yuri. Everyone knew her as Yuri. She didn''t think it was her full name, but that was what everyone called her, along with ''weirdo'', ''freak'', ''loser'', ''retard'', and ''nerd''. Yuri had strange, dark blue hair that reached her elbows. It looked completely natural. She always wore thick glasses that she had a habit of adjusting every now and then. She had always worn oversized hoodies, long-sleeves, sweatshirts, along with jeans and sweatpants. Linda had found it odd how the girl had stuck with her style even during the summer. Then again, maybe there was a reason. That was the thing. Yuri was... well, a complete mystery. She had black eyes that rarely ever made contact with anyone, and Linda could remember only three or four times she heard her speak. Even during recitation. You could call her name a hundred times, threaten her to speak, but she''d still stay quiet. The girl completely aced every quiz and test, though, so the teachers let it go. Linda''s mind went back to the scene earlier. Yuri had grinned, and thanked her for something she didn''t even intend to do. She had mentioned something about being ''saved'', and Linda assumed it was because she was being bullied. Again. The thought made her angry. "Those little pieces of shit deserve a hundred beatdowns," she mumbled under her breath. Her train of thoughts stopped when she heard a rather loud voice yelling, "Oi! Someone stop that girl!" There was a loud screech, a bang, then people started screaming. "Call 911!" "Oh my God." "Mommy, mommy, what happened?" "Drake, oh my God, don''t look!" Curious, Linda pushed her way through the noisy crowd. The first thing she saw was a bus. It had a slight dent, and the driver was stunned into silence. He looked horrified. Then she saw the body. There was a girl laying in the middle of the road, her head bleeding profusely. She wasn''t moving, and Linda assumed the worst. For some unknown reason, she started walking towards the girl, ignoring the screams and protests of the crowd behind her. She turned her over, and this time Linda was the one that couldn''t speak. It was her. That weird student who had thanked her earlier. ~*~ In a temple several planes above Earth, twelve figures were having a meeting. The vermilion tiles shone under the glares of the sunlight peeking through the open windows, not a speck of dust could be seen. The marble walls and mirrors glinting beautifully, reflecting the scene in the middle of the temple. Fifteen thrones stood between the distances, and there formed a circular shape if viewed from above. Three seats were empty, the others, beautiful and handsome beings sat, their features very pleasing to the eyes, but seemed so otherworldly. In the middle of it all was a huge magic circle lined with red intricate patterns that glowed beautifully, and on the center lay an almost naked body of a girl with midnight blue hair. Her features were as beautiful and otherworldly as the being seated on the thrones, if not more. "Do you think we should put her in there? Evreile is a harsh place, won''t she just get worse?" A man wearing a shiny red armor spoke out, looking very worried as she looked at the girl laying on the magic circle. "Yes, Royce is right. Ava, Evreile would be too much for her, I mean look at her, she''s on the verge of self-destructing!" A woman spoke next, her eyes wide in disbelief at the thought. "Don''t worry. She will be fine. Evreile will be nothing to her once she remembers everything." A woman with golden hair said, her glowing blue eyes calm as she stroked the fur of the sleeping tiger curled around her body. "I do not agree. She will destroy that world, Ava, you know that!" "Do you remember the last time we set her free?!" "This will be trouble." The other beings started shouting, some standing and looking at the girl in tattered clothing as if disgusted. Only two remained silent. Ava, the woman with the tiger, and Kaile, a man wearing a dark blue tuxedo, looking at the almost naked body of the girl as if he didn''t know what to feel. His eyes a mixture of blue and silver, he stared at her with pity and regret, his fists clenching in fury. Ava heaved a sigh, and roared, "Silence!" All at once, the arguing gods and goddesses became quiet. "All right. How many of you don''t want to give her a chance?" Five people raised their hands. Then another, although hesitant. Six in total. "And the rest? I''m assuming you want to try letting her live?" They all nodded, some even smiling gently at the girl on the magic circle. Ava grinned. "Majority wins." The gods and goddesses who raised their hands slumped in their seats, glaring at the others who didn''t. "Yuriel Alexis Dominique will be living in Evreile. It''s official." The other gods sighed. At the same time that they said this, the magic circle glowed brighter, and the body of the girl gradually faded, turning into a blue-violet orb, which then disappeared as well. Ava smiled and leaned back in her seat, ignoring the curious looks the other gods were giving her. "¡Ava?" "Yes, Althor?" "What if she¡ loses control, like what happened years ago?" "Let her. She will find her way back to us. I trust her, Althor. I know her, and it''s not like her to run away. She will emerge the victor, you''ll see." Ava looked outside, rubbing the head of the tiger, who purred in response. Chapter 2: Rebirth Yuri didn''t know where she was. The place was dark, too dark for her to see anything. She tried reaching out to touch something, but she could barely move her arms. Was she still paralyzed? Wait, that isn''t right, hadn''t she died already? Where was this? Why couldn''t she move properly? How the hell was she even conscious anyway? Was this a coffin or something? With great effort, Yuri finally managed to move her arms, though not that much. To her surprise, what she touched wasn''t the cold, hard metal she was expecting, but a soft, not to mention disgustingly wet¡ membrane? Disbelief and horror coating her features, she tried jumping away from the thing, only to find that she couldn''t because something connected to her belly was stuck. What? No, no, no, no, no¡ This can''t be happening¡ She slowly reached a hand out, and there it was, a familiar wet and squishy feeling that made her frown in disgust. What the actual¡ Am I actually inside a fucking womb?! The thought horrified her so much that she became stiff for a few seconds before letting the shocking, terrifying fact sink in. Once calm enough, she started thinking about her current situation, and how she had ended up in¡ here. ''All right. So¡ I am currently¡ Literally inside a woman''s body, and have my very own umbilical cord connected to her whatever, meaning I am an unborn baby. And am about to be born¡ Fuck. The thought makes me want to throw up. I really want to punch something, but as I am right now, I doubt trying to punch wouldn''t exhaust all of my tiny amount of energy. Just staying awake is hard.'' Yuri tried to keep her eyes open, barely managing to actually do so. She then looked around, although her instincts screamed at her not to, in case she sees something¡ unnerving, and thankfully, she didn''t. ''How did I end up here again? I should''ve been dead as of now, and wandering the afterlife (?) I guess, after I... killed myself.'' Strangely, she wasn''t sad at all, but furious. ''...That damn bastard...'' A familiar chilling sensation inside her sent her nerves into overdrive, yet instead of panicking, she reveled in the familiar cold feeling within her. ''Ah, now I kinda wish I''d revive in my previous body and stab them to death too. And that guy... Maybe cut off his ¡Á¡Á¡Á¡Á for doing that disgusting thing to me when I was weak and vulnerable.'' Weak¡ Vulnerable¡ Yuri clenched her fists. ''I will work hard, harder than I have ever done, and I will never be at the mercy of anyone ever again!'' Determination coursed through her veins as she resolved, and soon extreme exhaustion overcame her body and she slowly lost consciousness. _____ After an unknown amount of time, Yuri woke up. She opened her eyes and excitedly looked around, but her excitement immediately turned to disappointment when she realized she was still inside her ''mother''s'' body, within a crazily disgusting whatever and feeling the strange ''connection'' from her abdomen to the ''thing''. It was a weird feeling and she wasn''t getting used to it anytime soon. Ignoring the unpleasantness of being inside a reproductive organ, Yuri wondered how she was able to keep herself conscious while her current body hasn''t even finished developing. Of course, this had something to do with the Goddess of Life, Ava, but she had no way to know that for now. While she was scanning her underdeveloped brain for some answers, a warm and wet¡ thing encased her body. Yuri, caught unaware, immediately became alert. ''Okay, okay, calm down¡ what the fuck is happening?'' The thing''s hold on her loosened, then tightened once more and her body was pushed downwards, a faint sound of a scream was heard. Yuri was completely terrified. ''Holy shit¡ this is¡?!'' Then her body was forced to move again. Yuri was about to cry. She didn''t know how many times she experienced the disgusting feeling of being pushed down by her mother''s ''whatever'' before she finally saw the light. Yuri almost rejoiced when she got out of there, now a completely normal hand held her body. Okay, if not a little bit bloody, but that didn''t bother her, hey, at least she was out of there! Yuri opened her eyes slowly, and unlike what she had expected, there wasn''t the bright light that doctors used, but instead the warm feeling of the sun. Curious, she looked around, although it was a bit hard, and was taken by surprise. Yuri was stumped. There were four people in the room, including her mother. Her mother was a very beautiful woman, and not even the sweat nor her messy black hair sticking to her pale face could hide that. But what shocked her wasn''t the unearthly beauty that her mother held, but the pointy ears that showed under her hair. ''¡Elf? Okay¡ So I''m not on Earth, and my mom''s an elf, how about my dad?'' Yuri looked around. For some reason, she wasn''t shocked at the thought of these beings existing. It was as if her instincts knew that there was nothing to be surprised about. There were two other women with them, one was a girl who looked 15-ish, with short black hair and warm eyes, which Yuri found detestable. One was an older woman, probably thirty, who was holding her, and was staring at her with a¡ horrified expression? The genuine version of this novel can be found on another site. Support the author by reading it there. The other was a pathetic looking man standing beside the door. He had slick brown hair and green eyes, a muscular body, yet he was biting his lip, shaking in fright as he stared at his newborn daughter. Yuri, repulsed, crinkled her nose and looked back at the woman who was holding her. She had the same features as her father, her hair a darker shade of brown, though her eyes were hazel. Both the woman and the man she assumed to be her father looked human enough. In that case, was she a half-elf? "--------------! ---------------!!!" The older woman started shouting words, and the man flinched, he looked like he was close to tears, which made Yuri frown. ''My dad is a wimp? I don''t like the sound of that at all. Reminds me of my last dad.'' She then turned back to the woman, wondering what sort of language she was speaking. It wasn''t Chinese, not Japanese, Spanish, French nor was it Deutsch. It most certainly wasn''t English either, although it almost sounded like it. "---------------------------!! ---------------!!!! ------------." The woman yelled angrily, and the man nodded. The other people in the room had sad faces, especially her mother. A nagging feeling told Yuri that whatever this woman was saying was going to be a nuisance in the following days. Oh, how right she was. ________ Several moments earlier¡ Remus was resting comfortably in the living room, when a young girl wearing a maid outfit burst through the doors. He immediately opened his eyes and stared at her angrily, opening his mouth to shout, but was interrupted by the maid. Again. "Master! Lady Helena is giving birth, we need you there, now!" Remus closed his mouth and stood up. He nodded towards the maid and hurriedly ran over to their room, which was, thankfully just next to the living room. He opened the reddish brown door excitedly, only to be met by an unpleasant sight. His sister. Lady Therese Zion, a woman of unimaginable strength and a magical genius. She was the head of the clan as well, and had been since ten years ago. With their parents dead, and every elder in the family scheming to get the position, someone in the main family had to take over. Which left only the two of them as the remaining children of the main family. With him having pathetic talent in magic, he was looked down upon by the clan, and thus, his sister who had extremely high potential and an impressive talent in earth and healing magic took the position instead. And he, the pathetic younger brother, lost everything that was meant to be his. And now that he was having his child, he was extremely excited, but with his sister there, he doubted that he could even get an inch closer to his child. Clenching his fists, he closed the door behind him and stood straight, remembering what his sister had told him days before. ''Listen well, Remus. I do not approve of you having a child. Also, because you are the father, I am expecting the child to be useless as well, but then again, your wife will, with enough time, be stronger than me and has even higher talent in magic, thus I will check its aptitude as soon as it is born. If it has talent, then I''ll let it stay alive. If not, then you know what to do.'' Remus bit his lip. If his child didn''t have enough talent¡ then he will have to get rid of it. He knew his wife would hate it, but he was too weak to go against his sister. Even his wife didn''t know about his talk with the head of the house, and if she knew, she would leave him, and he didn''t want that. Unfortunately, he feared his sister too much. "Aaaaaaahhhh!" Helena screamed, veins bulging on her forehead as the maid, Olivia, assisted her. As the seconds passed by, Remus was getting more and more anxious, and soon enough, the baby came out, and Olivia hesitantly handed her over to Therese. "My lady, it is a girl," she said and bowed her head as a sign of respect. Therese nodded in response and held on to the baby. She opened her closed eyes, and what she found stunned her. Staring at her, were wide heterochromic eyes, one a beautiful purplish blue, much like the galaxy, and the other a hypnotizing shade of gold. Both eyes were empty and blank, which she could have sworn lit in surprise for a short while, before going back to the way it was, and instead of crying, only looked around curiously. Therese was captivated, yet the dark feeling in her heart was not something she could ignore. Although not crying upon birth was an extremely unusual, if not unheard of, for a baby, she swallowed her surprise and channeled her Mana towards the child, and to her surprise, was blocked. With her eyes wide with shock, she tried again, almost surrounding the baby with mana which would have suffocated any other newborn, but was still ineffective, and the baby didn''t even look like she was having a hard time. In fact, she didn''t even look like she was doing anything at all! ''This child¡'' She narrowed her eyes. ''¡is very strange.'' She adjusted her hold on the baby, and the blanket covering her head slipped, revealing soft midnight blue hair, and¡ two small golden horns above her forehead. Olivia gasped silently as she fidgeted. ''Oh no¡'' Therese''s face contorted into a disgusted and fearful expression and she yelled towards her brother. "You pathetic, useless waste of space! Your child¡" The woman''s cheeks were red with both anger and humiliation. "Your child is a demon!!!" Helena took in a breath and stared at her daughter, who was staring back at her, in surprise. It almost looked as if she was pleasantly surprised at the sight of the golden horns. "Get rid of it immediately! Such a disgrace!!! I will not allow this disgusting thing to live in my household." The brown-haired woman said, giving the baby to the maid and storming out of the room with a huff. An uncomfortable silence descended upon the three. Remus gritted his teeth. Olivia gulped. Helena was frowning. "Remus¡ what did she mean by¡" "It''s nothing, my wife, nothing." Remus moved to hug his wife, kissing her forehead in an attempt to soothe her. He shot Yuri a disgusted look, and this didn''t go unnoticed by the said child, who rolled her eyes. The maid Olivia saw this and almost screamed when the baby looked her way. What a frightening child. Helena chuckled. "Olivia, come, I want to see my daughter." "Yes, Lady Helena." Olivia murmured and gave the baby to the woman, who smiled widely as she raked her eyes over her child''s features. Her beautiful wide celeste and bright, golden eyes, the two tiny golden horns just above her forehead and the unusual midnight blue hair that neither she nor her husband had. As she looked at the baby, she noticed the icy, but curious look in her daughter''s eyes. She was almost terrified, but then, to her surprise, the stoic baby actually giggled. She found her daughter very adorable, and hugged her to her chest. Yuri was shocked. A hug? ''No one''s ever given me one before¡'' The warmth emanating from her mother''s body calmed her and she sighed inwardly, relaxing in her mother''s comforting arms. "Ah¡ Er, love, I will just take a walk around the mansion, okay?" Remus said awkwardly. Helena nodded. Her disgust towards her husband was slowly growing, and she didn''t look at him once. Remus moved to kiss her, but to his dismay (and Yuri''s disbelief) Helena nuzzled her daughter''s cheek. He glared at the strange child and stomped away from them slamming the door loudly upon exit. Helena and Olivia stared at the door and sighed. Helena stared at her daughter, who was staring at the door as well, and kissed her forehead, whispering foreign words that the baby couldn''t understand. "I won''t let anyone take my daughter away from me." Although she didn''t understand a single thing during the exchange, she knew that whoever that lady was, and that pathetic excuse for a man hated her, though she didn''t know why. Yuri felt amused at her father''s immature antics, and, with great effort, forced herself to slip her left arm out of the blanket, folding all her fingers except the middle one, just like she always did in her previous life. Olivia and Helena stared at the gesture with confused faces. "¡?"
