He didn''t know how to set a bone or sanitize a wound, in fact, billy was extremely uneducated. It was standard that even six-year-old were taught basic survival but Billy couldn''t even remember anything past 2 months ago. Billy had an old rusted and jagged pipe that he had found jutting from the broken wall in the building he was staying inside of. He looked down at his only means of defense Today is the day I might die... a shiver went down his spine. He exited the building examining his surroundings with the utmost caution. Suddenly a loud croak was heard from underneath his foot. Startled he swung straight down with what little strength he had and struck the foreign creature which happened to be a three-eyed frog. He didn''t know what it was but he knew if bled it had meat and meat is edible so he put the dead squashed frog in his hole-ridden pocket. Continuing with his expedition further in the quarantined city not much noise was heard for a long while just silence as he looked up he only saw gray clouds blanketing the sky. Billy always found comfort in the sky no matter the type of weather. Billy quickly looked down as he heard something dash forward towards him as his eyes met with the source of the sound it was another boy, orphaned just like him. The situation was realized as billy looked at the other boy''s hand he was gripping a long sharp piece of jagged metal which he was pointing at Billy. "Give me your food" he shouted thrusting the metal towards him. Billy froze up for a moment until he heard a strange noise from further down the road. "hey" Billy struggled to speak. "I think there someone else with more food than just a small amount of meat down there ... If you want ill help you ... " Billy''s gut twisted as he tried to mutter the words.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. "Help me what?" The other boy became anxious. "K...kill him" Billy nearly throwing up he could never kill a person especially one that had not even tried to attack him. "What do you think he has?"said the boy lowering the piece of metal slightly. "He.. Might have a steak.. or fruit" replied Billy still uneasy. "I''m watching you but if there''s a chance of that kind of food that would mean the other guy would most likely have a good weapon too!" The other boy said to himself exited. "Well what do you say?" asked Billy. "Lets do it... But I get most of the food and the body" the boy said with a psychotic presence. "Why would you want their body?" Billy questioned regreting even asking. "To eat stupid" the boy snapped. Billy dry heaved almost in immediate response. He and the boy started on their way down the road. On the way, Billy thought to himselfbefore he attacks whoever is behind this turn in the road I''ll hit him over the head as hard as I can.... I can''t let someone like him to harm anyone, and so Billy followed up on his plan as soon as the boy turned the corner he struck him over the head with his jagged pipe. The boy bellowed as he dropped to the concrete sidewalk seeming dead. The person who the boy had planed to kill and eat spun around and held up an old decayed plasma pistol at Billy. "Who the hell are you and why where you sneaking up behind me!?" He barked at Billy. "I was trying to save you he was gonna kill you... " Billy was interrupted. "I don''t care what the hell you was trying to do... Now..." The now apparent fifteen-year-old male said gathering his thoughts. "Give me your food and your pipe" He demanded. "Wait please this is all I have and I haven''t eaten in a few days I don''t know if I could survive without both of them...." Billy pleaded. "What if... What if we eat him" Billy stated repulsed at himself. "Hmmmm... He does have alot of meat on him..." He responed. "Here you can have my frog if.... I get half of his... Body" Billy said trying to convince himself to go along with this,it is more meat than just a frog. "Alright gimme the frog and leave after we split the bodyI don''t trust you" he stated. The two boys began to sever one-half of the boy from the other cutting into his corpse with the long jagged piece of metal the boy dropped when he had died. Slowly the body began to split pouring out blood, intestine, and his other bodily fluids. Billy had a realization about half way through cutting the corpse in twothis is what the world truly is, nothing but survival hellish cruel survival. Chapter 2: The Broken Turret Named Bill After the two boys finished with the gruesome job of gutting another person they took their portion and headed towards their hideouts. Before the job was done the fifteen-year-old had discussed a few things with Billy such as where their hideouts were located in the city. Finally, Billy arrived at his hideout, exhausted, and distressed. He stared at the portion of flesh he got.am... am I a monster?... I have to eat this... it''s the only food I have...Billy began the process of cooking the flesh using a semi-operational grill he found in the broken down house. Billy began drooling over the sizzling human flesh. As he turned it over he got a whiff of the juicy, tender, intoxicating smell of grilled meat. This would be the first fresh meal he would remember eating... and it was human flesh. The flesh after cooked was slightly stringy as Billy took a bite he dry heaved but managed to get the whole meal down. It tasted strange..... Good. The next day he ventured once more outside and found himself around two to three miles down the road. Billy sees something peculiar in the distance, a fully operational building with turrets attached to the top. One of the said turrets detached from the roof and formed legs and arms that ended in guns. "Hey boy what the fuck are you doing in this part of town? Go home!" said the voice coming from the turret. "You can speak!?" Billy said astonished. "No shit." said the turret sarcastically. As Billy kept staring at the building. "Hey, can I get in there?" "No, it''s dangerous in there boy now go the duck home before I shoot your sorry ass excuse for a man" the turret exclaimed as a final warning. Billy spots an alleyway behind the turret. Wanting to see what''s inside the building Billy makes a dash for the alleyway being a child he is slightly faster but doesn''t make it in time. A dull stinging pain erupts in Billy''s backside. As he looks towards the ground he sees a beanbag. If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. "I said go home boy" repeated the turret. "Why can''t I go in here?" Billy questioned in pain. "Because you are probably wanting to loot what''s inside and well the front door is locked and the back door is guarded by what is said to be my older brother Timmy" explained the turret. "Oh, yeaand I''m Bill... Bill the turret" said Bill "Oh...." Billy sighed. "Well, there is another place you can probably loot... the man who lives there is crazy though he ate a car... With a plastic fork, " Bill said. "Wel, I guess I''ll try," Billy said looking down at his left mangled arm remembering the last time he attempted to steal. "Oh you need that fixed?" asked Bill. "Yea its been broke for a while" Billy sighed. "Well bring it over here then" exclaimed Bill. After a short snap, a few cracks and pops and a spray of some sort Billy''s arm was perfectly mended. "Wow thanks, Bill" said Billy fully of gratitude. Bill then guided Billy to Crazy Earl''s house. Bill then knocked on the door and with no answer he blew down the door with almost a three foot by three foot completely chainmail beanbag. "Open says me BITCH" yelled Bill while entering. "Ow Fuck you, you stupid piece of shit turret get this god damned door off me!" Crazy Earl said flailing from underneath the door. "Shut the fuck up Earl" Bill replied nonchalantly. Billy then began to search the downstairs. Finding only a plastic card. Then about to leave Bill emits a light at Billy. "Hey boy you know eating human flesh causes mutations and is illegal right?" Bill questioned. "It is?" asked Billy. "Yea. Ya know I outta take you to the orphanage so you can get a proper education." Bill stated. "First you gotta get rid of that meat." Said Bill. Billy then took the leftover flesh placed it in a nearby vent walked on top of the door that was on top of Earl and dropped the metal shard that he had kept from the boy he had killed on top of the door. "Hey boy what did you just put on top of me?!" Earl shouted. "A bomb" Billy said jokingly. "WHAT... OH SHIT! IMMA CALL THE POLICE! YOU BRAT!" Screamed Earl from under the door. Bill and Billy both rounded the corner realizing that he wasn''t joking, waited, and listened. Shortly after a peacekeeper patrol car arrived. Some casual chatter, some laughter, and yelling later. Earl came out in handcuffs, entered the patrol car and left with the peacekeeper. "Well, that''s that I guess" stated Bill. Bill then proceeded to emit a different light. Chapter 3: The strange house called The Orphanage Billy opened his eyes after Bill''s blue beam ceased, and what he saw amazed him. There were other kids although they didn''t look as bad off as he did. This sight brought happiness into Billy''s small tormented heart. Bill then turned to him. "Hey kid what are you staring at? we gotta go clean you up," Bill stated shoving him forward. The two proceeded into the bathroom, Bill explaining how to take a bath, and giving him shots for diseaseshe had contracted. (It''s ok Bill is a turret) Afterward, Bill brought Billy into a small cluttered room with wires coming out from every wall and connecting to multiple computers and a strange hat made of unpolished metal. "Kid lay down on that bed and strap that helmet on, you''re about to get taught, boy!" Bill said with a heightenedvoice. So Billy proceeded with the instructions Bill gave him. Unable to speak Billy was excited as he strapped the helmeton and looked through the glasses he observed that he wasn''t in the room anymore. He was in a grassy fieldlight with sunlight he gasped as he felt a small amount of pain and then felt a blanket of warmth hit him. He felt happy as if none of the previous days ever happened, then Bill appeared. "Heya kid how ya doin?I''m here to teach you how to do... everything really... But anyway let''s start with vocabulary," Bill had started on his original programming. This content has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. "Ok..." Billy said hesitantly The next 2 years proceeded with lesson, after lesson, after lesson. Billy learned about words and meanings he never even had thought of. The most important thing to him that he had learned is that cannibalismcan possibly cause mutation in genes. This lesson hit him close to the back of his mind as if he knew something was wrong, but proceeded with his day anyway. At the end of the last year, he was told to leave because he had developed a very quick learning ability he had learned everything Bill had to offer. Billy was now a young adult and was given an honorary suit since he had completed what most others failed to do in his position. "Alrighty kiddo it''s time for you to hit the road, I can''t help you anymore. However, I can tell you to make your way to the town about two and a half miles from here and find the weapons shop the guy there knows a bunch about how to protect yourself." Bill said with a slightlydisappointedvoice. "Thank you, Bill... I will never forget what you have done for me," Billy said about to cry. He would be leaving the only friend he ever had behind. "Oh and by the way that card you took from Earl''s house... press the button on the side there," Bill told him. Billy did so, the card light up blue and displayed a set of numbers one-hundred-fifty-seven followed by a c with two vertical lines through it. "What''s this Bill?" Billy asked. "It''s the amount of money on the card you can spend it when you get to town... good luck boy" Bill sighed as he motioned Billy to leave. "Thank you again..." Billy said woefully. Billy''s journey began with that, and after a few years he learned multiple languages and studied martial arts becoming almost a master. After that Billy hit eight-teen years of age, old enough to go into space.
