In less than 25 minutes I have them all done. To my despair however they¡¯re all in a deep sleep.
Shit, we don¡¯t have enough time...
¡°Rose, how close are they now?¡±
¡°They¡¯ve come to a stop at floor 3, and they don¡¯t seem to have any plans on moving anytime soon, but daddy, are these my new family?¡±
Shit! How did they cover so much ground in such little time.
Entering deep thought about my next move I gave Rose an absent reply.
¡°Yes they are. Treat them well.¡±
¡°Yay! I''ve always wanted younger siblings!¡± With this Rose flew into a frenzy, zooming around the throne room with a smile from ear to ear.
But why would they stop so far into the dungeon¡ How did they e-
A blood chilling screech vibrated through the air. Tremors could be felt running through the floor and walls. With such a sudden turn of events, even the Rose who didn¡¯t blink an eye at an earthquake stopped what she was doing.
Ablood curdling screamwas heard from the floor above us.
¡°Rose we have to go!¡±
Without even thinking twice I pull rose by the hand towards the third floor. Despite the obvious risks, I couldn''t live with myself if I knew someone was in danger and I didn''t do anything to help.
Having to run through multiple rooms to reach the stairwell to the floor above, I sprinted through a few repetitive corridors with the same theme as the throne room, with cobblestone walls and floor and a red tapestry complementing the interior.
¡°Daddy, you need to work out. You¡¯re too slow!¡±
Okay that one hurt a bit¡
With that, Rose took grab of my clothing and moved full force towards the third floor. My surrounding turned into a blur of colours as a sense of nausea filled my body.
In less than 20 seconds we had reached what should have been the third floor. I fell onto my knees and emptied out my stomach. My eyes watering, and my body falling onto soft grass.
Wait¡ Grass?
I clear my eyes with my hands and look around and see that I¡¯m in some sort of forest. The sun''s up and I can smell the aroma of the different plants in the area.
¡°Swords up men! We cannot let the prince die!¡±
Looking a little forward, I can see that there¡¯s a small clearing with a large group of fully plated ''adventurers'' in a stance ready for combat.
¡°Be ready for the next attack!¡±
It¡¯s a middle aged man speaking. He¡¯s clearly the commander of the unit and to accentuate that, he has a slightly turquoise plating compared to the knight¡¯s steel, the plating lining very developed chiseled muscles. He¡¯s sporting a bushy brown beard, with an equally bushy hair style. His shoulders are wide and he looks like someone you could depend on.
Another screech bombarded my ears.Looking straight ahead, I see a grounded dragon, with his jaw open to attack.
Shit...
03: Loyalty
POV: Godfrey
The muscles in my hands tighten around the reigns of my trusty steed and with a single small push with the heels of my boots, I nudge the horse to go faster. My steed has yet to disappoint me in the years we¡¯ve been partners, but now more than ever, I need him to persevere.
My eyes barely register the streaks of green that flash by me, as we traverse through the forest at staggering speeds.
A familiar screeching marked the coming of the dragon who flew overhead. With the shadow of the giant beast growing closer and closer, the coming of an attack was inevitable.
¡°Ready men! Don¡¯t let your guard down! It¡¯s coming!¡±
With a great roar erupting from my throat, 300 of the Empire''s best knight¡¯s pushed their bodies further into the horses, reducing the overall surface area, reducing air resistance. Hand picked by myself, a single knight in this unit was worth more than 20 of the Empire''s soldiers.
¡°Alex, what''s our situation with the prince?¡±
My eyes fell onto a man riding to the left of me. My right hand man, had a bundle of cloth in his left hand, only the periodic slight lifting of its folds marking the presence of a life.
¡°He should be fine for now, but if this continues on for longer I¡¯m afraid that his life will be in danger.¡±
Shit¡ Judging from the current situation, I wouldn¡¯t be surprised if, we got chased for another day.
¡°Alex what¡¯s your mana at?¡±
¡°90% to a mass teleport. Should only be another 20 minutes until it¡¯s up.¡±
Alex is one of the best magicians in the country. Being the best of only five who has mastered teleportation spells, he can teleport any willing target in a 20 metre radius to an area up to a 100 metres away.
A shrill screech reached my ear drums.
Here it comes¡
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
Pouring mana into my hands, I mumbled a short incantation. ¡®Upper leveled physical barrier¡¯
A large transparent shield forms around me and my men just in time as the dragon swoops in for an attack. It¡¯s jaws slammed into the barrier with enough force for the displaced air to slice into my cheek. Warm blood trickles down my cheek as a large spiderweb forms on the barrier.
As the dragon swoops back into the air, the barrier shatters. Moving my hands through my beard, I think about our next move.
I only have enough mana for one more barrier¡
¡°Godfrey! There¡¯s a huge mana disturbance right ahead, it¡¯s right under our feet! It¡¯s larger than anything I¡¯ve ever seen!¡±
As if waiting for that que, a large rumbling could be felt underneath our feet. The surroundings began to sporadically spin as the earth shook a staggering amount, causing our trained warhorses to lose balance, toppling on top of each other, breaking our formation.
As the dragon was high in the air, it was unaffected by the commotion on the ground, and seeing our state of weakness, the dragon let out a blood chilling roar and dove towards us at a staggering speed.
¡°Quick to your feet men, forget the horses for now!¡±
With that my men scrambled to their feet, but by then it was already too late.
Shit! I need to do something quick!
I begin to pour mana into my hands. Shutting my eyes, I start the incantation again, all I can do is pray that I make it in time.
I can feel the presence of the dragon moving closer and closer. I wonder if my men can hear how hard my heart is beating right now¡
30 metres until impact¡
20 metres¡
10 metres¡
5 metres¡
Ahh¡ Is this the place where I die? Realising that I don¡¯t nearly have enough time to complete my incantation, thoughts of acceptance fill my mind. I await the coming of my death for what seemed to be a eternity.
A blinding light penetrates my eyelids, leaving me with a crimson red straining my eyeballs. A pain filled shriek that a human was incapable of producing vibrated through the air. Opening my eyes, dots of black danced around my vision but even with my impaired vision my mind deduced what had happened. A bright light had blinded the dragon, which caused it¡¯s to instinctively fly upwards.
Wasting no time, I look around for anything that could get us out of this mess. The light for now is a secondary priority, the saving of my prince and unit¡¯s lives is a first. Scanning the surroundings, I see that 3 metres to the left of the unit a stone entrance 3 metres by 3 metres had appeared.
¡°Men follow me as fast as you can! Leave everything apart from what''s on you, even your horses!¡±
¡°Yes sir!¡±
Even after what had just gone down, they were still so responsive. From the bottom of my heart I felt a mixture of self loathing and respect. Respect that they could be so strong after a hopeless situation, and self loathing, that stemmed from how I had betrayed them; my unit to whom I would entrust my life to, and my prince whom I had pledged myself to on his birth, by giving up and not preserving.
Sprinting towards the newly created entrance with my unit in tow, I preemptively start activating a skill. Arriving in less than 10 seconds, I activate the skill, ¡®Echolocation¡¯the moment I reach the inside.
Through the use of ¡®echolocation¡¯ I can immediately sense the layout of the entire space.
¡°Alex! Can you use mass teleport yet!?¡±
¡°Whenever you¡¯re ready captain!¡±
¡°I want you to teleport all of us 100 meters straight down.¡±
¡°That''s suicide! We could teleport into a solid area, killing us immediately or losing us limbs!¡±
¡°Trust in me this one time. Please.¡±
An auditory sigh could be heard coming out of Alex¡¯s mouth as he moved his arms in an exaggerated manner. After carefully passing the prince onto another soldier, he got into the preparation for the spell.
¡°Everybody, we¡¯re in for a bumpy ride!¡±
Alex started the enchantment and as intricate magic circles started to form around us, a roar could be heard, as the now enraged dragon flew towards the cave.
¡°No you don¡¯t!¡± Channeling my mana and practically screaming the incantation, I bring up a ¡®Upper level physical barrier¡¯ around the entrance, blocking the dragon from entering. As the surface area is a lot tighter, the barrier becomes more packed with mana, strengthening it many fold.
The dragon slams into the barrier full force causing a crack to form on the surface, but before it¡¯s able to get in another hit, we¡¯re already gone.
04: Strength
POV: Godfrey
My vision swirls as the spell activates. I feel my body being ripped from where I stand as my sense of balance goes haywire. A sense of nausea hits me as I land on a soft surface. Forcing the vomit back down my throat, I quickly scan my surrounding.
What the... ¡®Echolocation¡¯ clearly showed me that there should¡¯ve been a separate level around 100 metres under the entrance...
¡°Alex, are you sure you teleported us downwards?!¡±
¡°I¡¯m sure did! I wouldn¡¯t screw up something so elementary. There¡¯s no chance this is an illusion spell either, the mana levels in the air are too stable.¡±
A lush forest envelops us in its greens and browns and with another quick survey, it would seem that all of my unit came through safely, but some weren¡¯t as good at holding their stomachs. Dozens of fully trained knights were seen gripping on the sides of trees, vomiting out their lunch. It would certainly be a spectacle to be seen if it was in a different situation, but now was not the time.
¡°We¡¯re setting camp here. Pitch up and do what¡¯s necessary to build camp.¡± Despite being worn out, at that order, the knights started to collect the sticks and large leafs necessary for primitive housing.
¡°Godfrey, I really don¡¯t think that this is a good idea! We really need to move on and survey our current situation!¡±
The knights paused. Even if it was an order directly from their captain, they couldn''t just ignore the words from their vice captain.
¡°Alex¡ Look around, do you think that our soldiers are able to do that?¡±
Alex skims his vision around the environment, to see 300 of our knights, sweating like pigs. Their panting could be heard from miles away and blood now stained their once pristine armour. Having had to have run for 2 weeks straight from a dragon no less, any normal human would¡¯ve broken down days ago. With an indescribable expression on his face, Alex turned around.
¡°I guess that¡¯s what we¡¯re doing then¡¡±
The knights got back to building camp, as Alex and I went around surveying the area for potential hostile monsters.
¡°Alex are there any sign of life around us?¡±
¡°That''s what''s so confusing. In this sort of dense forest, there¡¯s bound to be some sort of life, but I can¡¯t sense anything, not even tiny bugs. It¡¯s almost as if the whole thing just came into existence¡ But this sort of thing proves that we¡¯re in the dungeon, there''s definitely no place like this on the surface.¡±Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
¡°That kind of stuff only comes from legends, who¡¯s ever heard of a dungeon this big forming so pure that monsters don¡¯t even form.¡±
As the church explained it, dungeons came from a slow buildup of mana deep under the surface of the planet that grew and grew in density, until the whole thing explodes, letting out an extraordinary amount of pure mana. This then forms into its physical form. Monsters are explained as shards broken off from the forming of the dungeon that rejoins with the dungeon when killed.
Smaller scale dungeons have been seen forming without spawning any monsters, but that only occurred because of how the little amount of mana involved was able to remain 100% efficient, not breaking off into shards when forming. The larger the dungeon, the more mana that it required, and with that increased required mana came a lower mana efficiency rate. For a dungeon that spans multiple levels, each the size of a regular dungeon, to be able to reach 100% efficiency was unthinkable, let alone unheard of.
¡°Let¡¯s move back, they should¡¯ve finished setting camp by now¡¡±
Without noticing, 20 minutes had past whilst I was in deep thought and the time had come to move back towards the camp. We arrived in less than half a minute to the sight of our primitive camps. Having left our camping supply back with the horses, the knights were forced to create tents with what was around us. Sticks were set up against each other with a blanket large leaves entwined with each other placed on top for a basic tent with soft leaves and foliage put under for cushioning. Having done their work, the knights had taken off their heavy armour and sat in the shade of their shoddily made tents.
Clapping loudly, I grab the attention of the knights.
¡°Men¡ I have an apology to make-¡±
¡°Godfrey that apology can wait! There¡¯s a large life form coming towards us from the west. Judging by its size and speed, I¡¯m certain it¡¯s the dragon! He somehow found his way towards us!¡±
¡°Men put your armour back on and get ready for battle.¡±
The knights scrambled to their feets and grabbed onto their equipment. With their sweaty hands however, they lost their grip on the metal plating, taking them multiple times longer than they usually would have.
With my men like this, we¡¯re not gonna be able to run, this is our last stand.
I beckon one of the youngest soldiers towards me. ¡°I want you to take the prince and get out of here, we¡¯ll keep the dragon here for as long as possible.¡±
A confused expression filled his face, a defiant expression replacing it as quickly as it came, when he realized what was being asked of him. ¡°With all due respect sir, even though I¡¯m younger than the rest of them I can fight just as well! Please let me fight with you!¡±
My face softens up and my lips turn themselves into a gentle smile. ¡°I¡¯m entrusting this last order to you precisely because you''re just as good and because you¡¯re young, I need you to serve our lord for longer than us old farts can.¡±
A complicated expression fills the young knight¡¯s face as he nods and runs off towards the prince. Grabbing the bundle of rags, he sprints into the safety of the trees.
¡°This is not our final battleground men! We will fight and we may be slaughtered but we shall not die! Our bodies may be ruptured apart by the jaws of the beast but we will not die! Our arms may be torn off, our legs broken and our heads bitten off, but we will not die! For we will live forever in the progress of our country!¡±
A roar more fierce than a beast''s, rings through the air as all 300 knights readied their hearts for combat.
A slight whistle was heard in response to this.
¡°Using ¡®Iron heart¡¯ like that really had a devastating effect. They should be able to fight without any fear now.¡± What was said was drowned out by the roaring of the crowd, but it reached my well trained ears.
¡°If I could lighten the heavy load on these men, even by a little bit, I would give up my life.¡± I said in a simple reply.
¡°Ready your weapons!¡±
05: Surprise
We have to keep hidden at least for now. We don¡¯t want to be in the middle of the crossfire when the bullets start whizzing
In what way does that look cute¡

06: Awakening
POV: MC
I run my hand over the smooth stone putting a conflicted expression on the adventurers face.
¡°Rose is this the second entity you were talking about?¡±
¡°Like I said, it¡¯s a lot different from the others. Its lifesource is like that of a newborn.¡±
Putting two and two together, I deduced what the stone was. Could this be a-
¡°Daddy can we ask it now?¡±
¡°Ask what?¡±
Answering my question, the dragon burst through the trees on our right. Without a second of delay, it dashed towards the young adventurer, jaws open, ready to attack. The adventurer froze. The 5 prior painstakingly long years of harsh training he did for his body, did nothing to prepare him for the frightening sight of a fully grown dragon running full speed towards him.
Seeing an opportunity, in one quick motion I grab a hold of the stone, ripping it out of the adventurers hands.
God I hope I''m not wrong about this¡
The adventurer snaps out of it. "What in god''s name are you doing!?"
Completely ignoring the adventurer that was still incapable of standing, I once again offer the stone to the dragon.
¡°This is your child isn¡¯t it?¡±
Making it just in time, the dragon pauses, jaws mere centimetres off the knights vulnerable head. The dragon tilts its head slightly to the right, as if befuddled about my actions. I place the egg on the grassy ground and take steps backwards, pulling both the adventurer and Rose with me.
Maybe it''s because of the sudden change in events that had transpired, but with this, the adventurer finally fully snaps out of it. He quickly runs towards the egg, shielding it with his body. This prompts a roar to ring throughout the air, causing the adventurer to shudder uncontrollably.
¡°You won¡¯t take the prince! I promised the captain that I would protect this with my life!¡±
What¡¯s this talk about a prince¡ This is obviously an egg you kidnapped from the dragon...
¡°Hey stop that. You¡¯re seriously gonna get yourself killed.¡±Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings.
Tensions ran high as the dragon once again got into a position ready to attack the open adventurer.
¡°Hey! Do you want to become my pet?¡±
With the worst possible timing, Rose had somehow made her way towards the dragon and started to pat it.
¡°I promise that I will treat you well! I¡¯ll feed you everyday, I¡¯ll walk you and I¡¯ll play with you!¡±
The dragon perplexed by the sudden development and how a child had snuck up to her, jumped back 10 metres with a thundering leap, its enormous wings displacing huge amounts of air as it flapped back and forth propelling it away from Rose. Using this opening, I sprint towards the adventurer and try to pry him off the egg. Surprisingly he has an iron grip, and I¡¯m unable to make him budge a centimetre.
¡°Rose can you help-¡± I stop my sentence after realizing that Rose is too concentrated on trying to convince the dragon to become a pet, that she¡¯s completely tuned out from everything else. The comical scene of a young girl chasing around a dragon could be seen.
An audible sigh escapes my mouth as I give up on trying. While contemplating on how to get the adventurer off the egg, a rustling was heard behind us. I quickly turn around to see the leader of the group stumbling out of the thick forestry. The adventurer¡¯s face lit up with joy.
¡°Captain! I knew you would make it in time! I kept the prince safe, just as you instructed!¡±
The captain however, did not reply, instead just standing motionless, with a blank expression on his face.
¡°Captain?¡±
The captain once again did not answer, this time crumpling onto the ground like a marionette with it¡¯s strings cut.
POV: ???
A deep black engulfs my soul. I can¡¯t see or feel anything, it¡¯s like my senses were all cut off. Nothing happens, but it¡¯s not boring. I can¡¯t do anything, I just exist. It¡¯s tranquil but it¡¯s incredibly lonely. With nothing except myself, this void of life keeps me wanting company. The sense of time doesn''t exist here, I don¡¯t know how long I¡¯ve been here for, it could¡¯ve been a split second, or an eternity.
A bright ray of light shines down towards me. A pleasant warmth engulfing me. Warm like a mother¡¯s embrace, it was like nothing I¡¯ve ever felt before. I can feel as my soul grows stronger and stronger and as the light empowers me, information fills my mind. Information about the world and how it functions and about who created me.
I awaken in what looks to be a throne room. Looking left and right, I see that I¡¯m accompanied by two other individuals, one which is an undead and one which looks to be a demon. They¡¯re both already up and about, and I recognised them to be my honorable brothers.
The undead looks to be of the skeleton variety as everything from his facial features to his arms and legs, are a pristine white bone. He is donned in a long sorcerer robe that slide across the floor, which pulses black and purple as skulls surface on the surface, as if souls were trapped in the very fabric of his clothing. A distinct aura of death could be felt around. I recognized him as my youngest brother.
The demon however, looked like a male supermodel. Being more on the thin side, he looked more like the cool type, and he wore a tuxedo that perfectly complemented his body. He looked completely like a human, besides from his long sharp ears, his boney tail that protruded from his behind, and his full black eyes that were concealed under a pair of sunglasses. I recognized him as my eldest brother.
¡°Ahh, so you¡¯re awake. Good morning. As you¡¯ve probably already realized, we have some unwanted guests. We were just about to leave and take care of them, you¡¯re welcome to come join us.¡±
Eldest brother spoke in a deep voice in a cool charismatic manner that made you want to do as he said.
¡°Eldest brother, I shall take you up on that offer.¡± As eldest brother had alluded to previously, I too felt the presence of the intruders.
Despite having only just met for the first time, it was like we had known each other for years. It felt very comfortable to converse with my siblings, and there was no awkward tension in the atmosphere.
¡°Well then, let¡¯s go.¡±
Eldest brother nodded his head to youngest brother, in a signal to start moving out. A magic circle formed under our feet, as a high tier teleportation spell was cast by youngest brother. As the spell activated, our visions blurred, as our bodies were transported towards the intruders on the floor above us.
07:Terror
POV: Godfrey
Minutes has past since we had lost track of the dragon. It¡¯s not much of a surprise considering we¡¯re racing a dragon on foot, but it¡¯s still excruciatingly painful knowing that the dragon is making good progress towards the prince with us not being able to do a single thing to stop it. Sweat protrudes and pools out of every pore of my body as the metal plating of our armour insulates the heat my body is producing.
It¡¯s not that the unit is moving slow in any stretch of the imagination, it¡¯s just that comparatively, the speed at which the unit is capable of moving as a whole is so much slower than a dragons.
If I moved at full speed, I could probably catch up but would leaving the unit behind in such a state be acceptable...
¡°Godfrey stop moving! Everyone get into a defensive position!¡±
Hearing the command, all 300 soldiers come to a halt, and assume a defensive pose. A large amount of mana starts to collect in front of us, and as it pooled, the surround area started to become distorted, as the greens of the forest and the blues of the skies started to mix.
As that distortion grew and grew, eventually becoming something unrecognisable from the beginning sight, it jarringly stopped. Everything went back to it¡¯s previous state, only this time with three humanoids where the mana had pooled. A demon, an undead and a dragonian now joined us.
¡°No way¡¡±
¡°Hey Alex, isn¡¯t that your teleportation spell?¡±
¡°How is this even possible? It looks extremely like it, but it¡¯s fundamentally different. My spell creates a bubble around us with mana that creates an artificial instance in time and space, letting us able to travel long distances effectively in an instant but this spell single handedly breaks everything we know about our universe.¡±Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. A sound of someone clearing their throats ended our conversation.
¡°Can you gentlemen care to tell me why you have intruded upon our father¡¯s home?¡± The demon stepped forward and started to talk.
It was like all the air around me had been sucked away. A heavy pressure pushed down onto my body forcing my body onto it¡¯s knees. Gasping and sucking for oxygen, my mind flew into a panic. Killing intent so intense that it had such an effect on the strongest warrior of the empire, was emitted by the demon in the middle. All of the unit was immediately knocked unconscious, leaving only me to deal with the situation. A deep terror implanted deep into my soul.
¡°Ahh. I am deeply sorry, I didn¡¯t think you individuals were so weak.¡±
All that pressure disappeared.
So he knocked out the country¡¯s strongest knights just because of a little misjudge in strength...
¡°This is taking too long¡ Look into my eyes.¡±
Taking off his gaudy sunglasses, he forces me to look deep into his eyes. It¡¯s like I¡¯m looking into a blackhole. It looks straight into my soul, sucking up everything. All the strength leaves my body and I almost flop onto the ground, the demon having to catch me mid-fall.
¡°I¡¯ll ask again, why did you come here?¡±
POV: ???
After getting all I needed from the bearded fellow I remove the impression I put upon him and start to make preparations to move towards dad, Rose and the dragon.
¡°What just happened¡ Argh!¡±
The bearded fellow scrambled to his feet and ran into the bushes full speed in fear. A tickling forms at the back of my throat and the feeling grows until I can¡¯t hold it in any longer.
¡°HAHAHAHAHA! Did you guys see that! A fully grown muscular man just ran away in fear! That seems very fun, let¡¯s follow him.¡±
With a sadistic grin on my face, I rush towards the individual, brothers reluctantly in tow. A giggle escapes my mouth as my mind replays the previous scene repeatedly in my head. Surprisingly, he had instinctively started to move towards the position of dad and Rose, and was moving at a fast pace. Increasing my speed to catch up to him, I¡¯m right next to him in less than 5 seconds.
¡°Running away at the sight of our faces. Didn¡¯t your mother teach you any manners?¡±
Sweat is visibly pouring down in buckets on the poor man and as he heard my voice, he jumps and increases his speed. His facial muscles contort into that of pure terror which only makes me want to continue tormenting him. Wanting to see more of his reactions, I continued to trail him whilst emitting a small amount of killing intent causing the knight continued to accelerate.
With the increased speed of the knight, we shortly arrive at dad¡¯s position, only the knight faints on the spot, his mind shutting down to prevent further scarring from occurring.
08:Recall
POV: MC
The demon, dragon and undead that I created before come out of the forestry, each stepping over the unconscious captain. The dragon steps forward and introduces himself with an over the top bow.
¡°Father I wish to introduce myself. I am a member of the dragon race and was created alongside eldest and youngest brother. I am in awe of the sight of your gracious self and am pleased to make your acquaintance.¡±
Wow¡ This one is so uptight¡
¡°You can speak and act more loose when talking to me. That of course naturally extends to the two of you as well.¡±
Having someone who considered me their father talk to me in such a formal manner felt weird and out of place.
¡°With all due respect father, I cannot fulfill that desire. Acting anything less would be an insult to our creator.¡±
A strange but resolute resolve could clearly be seen in the eyes of my creation, and no words that could dissuade him came to mind. Deciding to put this off onto later, I turn to face the real problem here.
Rose was still chasing around the dragon from before. Large indents in the grass were left from both parties jumping around faster than the human eye could see, and many trees were left uprooted and tossed aside, overall leaving the impression that a hurricane had passed through here.
¡°Rose, could you please stop chasing around that young mistress. She says that it is most troublesome.¡±
¡°Wait, can you understand what this dragon is saying?¡±
¡°Well of course father! I couldn¡¯t quite consider myself a dragon if I couldn¡¯t understand my brethren and sistren could I?¡±Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
¡°Can you ask her about what led to the happening of all this?¡±
With a succinct nod, my middle son started to converse with the dragon. I think he did anyway. From an outsider''s point of vision, it sounded uncannily like two dogs scoping each other out. Low growls and screeches were exchanged between the two for a full 20 minutes, until the conversation came to a stop.
¡°Father, allow me to explain Olivia¡¯s situation¡¡±
POV: Olivia
The repeated sound of a dripping soothed me. My body laid wrapped around my egg, and only the occasional scuttering of a small creature marked any sign of life besides our own. Nothing really bothered us, but the thoughts of what my baby could grow up to be kept me entertained for days on end. A small chuckle escaped my lips as I imagined my child one day doing exactly as I am currently, which made the other lifeforms dart off in a hurry.
My nose and ears prickled. The mossy stone walls of the cave we resided in echoed noises well, and with my sharp hearing, it allowed me to detect whenever any intruders trespassed onto my territory.
What are these insolent humans doing this time¡
All of my previous experiences with humanity had not been good. All of them are selfish, manipulative and so full of themselves. Granted I¡¯m pretty young and only have 300 years of experience under my belt, but the way that the humans I have met conducted themselves really got under my skin. Placing and gripping the egg tightly within a gap in my scales, I make my way towards the intruders.
Once I¡¯ve arrived, I confront the intruders. There¡¯s a good number of them, but a single good roar should be enough to scare them off. I spread my wings, showing off an impressive wingspan and my jaws snap open, a roar loud enough to pop a human¡¯s eardrums reverberating through the air.
Ooo¡ That might¡¯ve been the best one I¡¯ve done in years...
Feeling impressed with myself, my lips extend into a large grin. A sharp pain extends from my rib cage however and when I tilt my head down, I see a spear stabbed shallow between the scales on my chest. With a roar of anger, I push out the spear by tensing the surrounding muscles and jump back a few metres. A numbing sensation spreads around my whole body.
I¡¯ve been poisoned¡ Judging by the effect it¡¯s having on me, it¡¯s got to be at least on the level of basilisk venom. I was too careless...
My muscles begin to loosen as the poison runs through my veins at an astounding speed. Dragons sported huge bodies with remarkable healing, but it came at the cost of a heightened blood flow, which was severely detrimental in cases of poison.
Although the poison was strong, it wasn¡¯t strong enough to incapacitate me. I throw myself into the intruders and began using everything at my disposal. My claws dig deep into their bodies, my tail sends them hurling and my jaws snap their spines. Many fall before me, but eventually a bearded man who looks to be the leader of the group yells out a command.
A large intricate magic circle forms underneath us and looking up I see a mage chanting an incantation. Upon further inspection, I see that my child is in the hands of the intruders. They must¡¯ve gotten their hands on it while I was fighting¡ Entering a state of full blown panic, I move as fast as possible with my impaired body towards the magician but I don¡¯t make it in time. The spell is completed, and everyone disappears as the space around me distorts.
Not giving up however, I imprint the bearded man and the magician¡¯s mana signatures to memory and begin to follow them, a mixture of determination and desperation pushing me forward.
