《Frustrated godly gaming》 When a disagreement starts something Many years ago the gods of this Universe came from a single source. This source; this creator of the gods, a God above the rest is also the source of souls. The gods are being in a state of constant flux. As transmutable as water never in the same state fo long as at this time they have no constant just the being that the Creator gave to them. Their essence... Their very being. One day the gods of this Universe came together and agreed to create a single world each to house the souls that the creator was still producing giving each of them the task of making a home for them to live in. However one of the gods didn¡¯t agree with the rest and searched for a way to create more worlds. So this god went to other Universes to find a way and came back with the idea of R P G¡¯s. This begins our tail so I¡¯ll translate it into whatever language this is¡ Oh wait I almost forgot one thing about this tale that you might want to know about before we actually get into it is that somebody pissed in my Cheerios this morning and I¡¯m a little drunk right now. Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. Days before the creation of the worlds. *** Rosch ¡°So Rosch; what you¡¯re telling us is that these worlds you want to create would be a place for us to play around?¡± Zephyr asked. ¡°That¡¯s right Zephyr. These worlds would be a place for us to play all day.¡±Rosch stated. ¡°And what about the souls of the, what did you call it N P C¡¯s? What about when their bodies die? For that matter what happens to them when we finish the game?¡± Arone asked. ¡°A better question would be where the hell did you get the idea for this game?¡± Carlisle asked. Ignoring Carlisle, Rosch replied ¡°The souls will be reborn each time the game is finished. But while waiting for the game to end they will be used for the monsters in the world. Of course since they haven''t died yet some of the souls will have to be used to create the beginning monsters as well. When the game is finished everyone gets sent back to the beginning villages, but their stats are saved along with their equipment.¡± ¡°You know Rosch I can keep repeating my question ad infinitum.¡± Carlisle interrupted. Scowling at Carlisle ¡°Fine I went into another Universe.¡± Rosch said. Unknown to them another god was listening into their conversation. Eons pass¡ Is It the beginning or is it SNAFU Rosch *** ¡°What do you mean the game is too hard Carlisle?¡± Rosch asked. ¡°I mean Rosch that unless there is an N P C in the group no one can get the final boss lower than 85 percent of its health.¡± Carlisle replied. ¡°So what would you like for me to do about it Carlisle? The rest of you agreed to it and even took over my project.¡± Rosch said. At which point they¡¯re interrupted. ¡°I may have a solution for you to fix this Rosch.¡± Said an approaching figure. Later on that day, on the first world in what would be Rosch¡¯s journey to beat the game that began at the beginning of the Universe Rosch appeared. Looking down ¡°Damn those assholes made me into a girl.¡± Rosch said. In another part of the world though in the same city; the first world, mainly known as Prime (Yes the gods are lazy about names) has always been a high technology world. As such pollution has been a problem, but as time has gone on the people on Prime have managed to cut pollution down to almost nothing. *** Pan *** When Pan woke up in the morning the first thing he saw was the sky, or rather a projection of the sky on his ceiling. After getting up he went to the bathroom to put in his contacts, putting them in he saw a message pop up: Please head to the L M D. Heading into his living room he went to the L M D. Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. The L M D, or Level Management Device is a standard item in all homes on Prime. No one knows just why it¡¯s called an L M D rather than an L V D, Level Viewing Device since all it does is give you a health rating. Checking in at the L M D he go this rating which was fairly average for the people on Prime. Going to his kitchen he got out a frying pan and the fixings for french toast. Halfway through preparing breakfast he saw a message pop up: Congratulations people of Prime. Today is a great day, you can take out those contacts that you have been wearing and view your stats without ever stepping foot into an L M D again, though you might want to stay inside until the monster in the streets are on a more manageable level. ¡°Oh shit¡± Pan said. Going to his t.v. he turned to the news. Seeing nothing but monsters coiling about each other like a mass of maggots falling from a corpse Pan wondered how the hell they got there in the first place. ¡°Ah fuck this is going to be a cluster fuck isn¡¯t it?¡± Pan said as he saw what looked like a dragon fly out of the mess.¡±I wonder if the people at work were serious about being open even during the apocalypse, maybe I should try to call in and get out of work today.¡± *** Carlisle *** ¡°So I can¡¯t help but wonder about just why exactly it was my world that was turned into the newest game world.¡± Carlisle asked. ¡°It¡¯s almost as if when you found out about the N P Cs helping to reduce the boss¡¯ health that you¡¯ve been looking for a way to cheat. Don¡¯t worry Carlisle I don¡¯t think that anyone else has noticed how you¡¯ve been transferring your people to the game worlds.¡± Gale replied. ¡°So what you¡¯re saying is that you took my world from me because I cheated a little bit? Carlisle asked to which Gale replied ¡°No it¡¯s because you¡¯re an asshole.¡± Indecent proposal and an Unexpected quest This beer is queer, it becomes most dear when one drinks and takes their time, but to drink in haste is such a waste it must surely be a crime. Huh, a story? I want to hear a story. Me? Was I telling a story? Ok, which story was I telling? Barkeep! Why were you letting me tell that story this sober? Three more pitchers and keep the damned things coming! *** Carlisle *** ¡°No. It¡¯s because you¡¯re an asshole!¡± Gale said. Carlisle looked at Gale to reply¡± And? What¡¯s your point? There has to be something there other than me being an asshole.¡± *** Pan *** ¡°Hi, do I have to come into work today?¡± Pan asked his manager on the vid-phone.¡± Pan! I¡¯m so glad that you called!¡± replied his manager Mama Sue. Now I know that most women called Mama Sue would be rather large people, but that is not the case in this point. In fact the Mama Sue here is a small pixyish woman of around 5 feet tall that is really mothering. ¡°I need you to do something before you come into work today Pan.¡± Muttering under his breath Pan said ¡°So much for that idea.¡± Then to Mama Sue ¡°What¡¯s up? Is this something that has to be done by me? More importantly will this get me some one-on-one time with you?¡± Not very used to being treated like this from Pan whom is normally a rather cooperative subordinate she blinked owlishly at him and said ¡°Um? What exactly do you mean by that? One-on-one? Don¡¯t we normally work rather close together?¡± (Sounds rather Thunderstruck doesn¡¯t she?) ¡°Normally I wouldn¡¯t be this forward, or maybe I should say demanding but if there¡¯s the chance that this will get me killed then I want to know that if I survive that I will get Laid.¡± He said knowing full well that saying something like this would get him fired. Unfortunately for him this is not a normal situation ¡°Ok. Seriously you¡¯re the only guy that has even agreed to come into work today. I¡¯ve tried the rest of the male staff and had to fire them for refusal to work. All the Ladies that I¡¯ve called all said one thing that they wanted some kind of escort for just in case this isn¡¯t a hoax of some kind.¡± Pan¡¯s jaw of course drops to the ground while she continues ¡°I will warn you that if I¡¯m not satisfied afterwards then you will be surrounded by women and I¡¯m sure that I can convince a few of them to help me teach you a lesson you¡¯ll never forget.¡± Pan picked up his jaw, gulped, and said ¡°Sorry I won¡¯t be able to come into work today.¡± Chicken? Nope, only a guy with more balls than brains wouldn¡¯t be afraid of her at this point; unfortunately for him he¡¯d already set his conditions for coming into work. ¡°You won¡¯t get out of it that easily Pan. HWC already has your agreement so tough titties Pan¡± HWC or Health and Work Compulsory is a government program that is responsible for the general fitness of the population and the economy. Unfortunately this also includes population control. Men and women are required to have at least 4 children with different partners to maintain diversity in the genetic pool. Why bring this up, well Pan is really close to being in violation of the time period for having his first child. In fact if it weren¡¯t for work all he¡¯d have ever done is to maintain his body, read, and play video games. For those of you that haven¡¯t figured it out he¡¯s a virgin. Before Pan could say anything else Mama Sue hung up. ¡°Damn she must have had HWC on the line while I was talking to her.¡± Immediately after saying that a window popped up. ¡°Damn they actually accepted that as a contract.¡± Closing out that window another popped up ¡°What the hell is this?¡± undefined Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Mandatory Quest Indecent Proposal Usually propositioning a coworker is a bad bad thing. (Especially when she¡¯s your boss!) Good thing for you she likes you. Collect 20 co-workers on your way to work, and deliver them safely. Rewards: 100 exp. 30 units (units being currency) Mama Sue becomes your companion Warning: better makes Mama Sue happy or face the consequences. You will make her pregnant and may make other coworkers pregnant either way you get to watch her swell with your child. Enjoy.
Eyes popping out he gaped at the window. ¡°Holy shit! Maybe some of that window this morning wasn¡¯t fake after all.¡± Looking around for weapons that he could use Pan grabs his kitchen knives and a frying pan. Knowing that he had nothing that he could use for armor Pan left the apartment. ¡°Where were these ladies that Mama Sue said that I had to get?¡± Realizing that he had no way of knowing he tried to use his contacts to call Mama Sue. ¡°Bloody Hell! Stupid things aren¡¯t working.¡± I went to the entrance of the apartment building with a knife and frying pan in hand. ***Rosch *** ¡°Ok first thing that I need to do is get the ever loving hell off of this roof. Would have been nice if they¡¯d let me watch the planet for a few days and get the lay of the land. Instead the just dropped me here without a clue. Damn them.¡± Let¡¯s just make something clear here. Ever since Rosch had suggested the Game world the other gods pretty much stripped her powers. Even now they made sure that now that she isn¡¯t under their thumbs that she can¡¯t use even the most basic of her powers. Searching around the roof she finally finds the door after a couple of hours. ¡°Thanks guys, could have at least let me use some of my powers. But no you had to be jerks. Oh well at least they let me have some equipment and max level for this starter zone instead of making me fight it out.¡± Checking her map she sees that Pan is starting to move. ¡°Bloody hell, he wasn¡¯t supposed to go to work until well after I got there. Carlisle! Gale! What¡¯s going on here!? I know that the two of you can hear me!¡± She starts to run towards where Pan¡¯s apartment is located. Luckily for her she¡¯s close by and rather easy to get to, unfortunately for her when she gets to his location he¡¯s already managed to get into a fight. ¡°Ah well, I might as well watch the show and see how he does.¡± *** Pan *** While I continue to try and call Mama Sue I got to the bottom floor of the apartment. Walking out I managed to get around 20 feet into the street before I was ambushed. The attack managed to make me spin in a complete circle doing 30 points of damage to me, however I felt a thud while I was spun around. Looking around I see whatever it is behind me so quickly I spin around to face it. The size of a medium dog in height it looked like a squirrel and was slowly was getting back to its feet knowing that it could probably really hurt me I rush towards it pulling out a knife as I ran. Getting close I swing the frying pan at it and missed it but also managed to slip and fall on top of the squirrel. Feeling the knife actually go into whatever it is I stay on top of it hoping that doing so would do enough damage to kill it. Squealing and bucking I feel it eventually stop moving. Getting up I kicked the squirrel to make sure that it was dead. Reaching down for my knife when I touch the handle a window popped up telling me that I had gained 20 points of exp. from killing the (Knight Squirrel). Not really sure what was happening still I try to take out the contacts that I had put in this morning. Not finding them I can¡¯t help but going ¡°What the hell¡ I know that I put the stupid things in this morning.¡± Even more confused than I already was I think back to the window that popped up this morning that was talking about not needing our contacts anymore. That¡¯s when a strange girl walked up to me.

You Moved! Rosch *** Watching Pan fight a squirrel was funny. Especially when he fell on top of it. Watching him get up I started to walk towards an extremely disheveled Pan. When he saw me approaching I swear that his eyes popped out, like he couldn¡¯t believe that I was there. ¡°What? Haven¡¯t seen a lady out for a walk before?¡± I asked him. Seeing his eyes pop out even further from his head I poked him in the forehead. When I did a window popped up. ¡°Great. I just knew that those Assholes would find a way to screw me over. Can¡¯t let me have an advantage in this world without a catch can you guys?¡± Looking at the window I saw something that really made me upset.
Experience transfer
Warning! This option costs 10% of the exp. transferred to e subject. A minimum of 50% of the experience that you have must be transferred to the subject of the transfer. Rosch just for you I made this a mandatory thing as soon as you touched your assigned champion. Enjoy because I will. Carlisle. Looking at the window I tried to cancel it out but it wouldn¡¯t go away. In which case I increased the amount of exp. to be transferred so that we would be at the same level after it was over with. Hitting the transfer button I really became upset as it said that I was transferring all of the exp. and levels that were given to me over to Pan. What would you do in this circumstance? I know what I did. A face palm and started to curse Carlisle and Gale because she had to have had something to do with this crap. That sounds appropriate to you doesn¡¯t it? After I finished cursing I looked at Pan and said ¡°Hey Fisheyes open up a menu would you?¡± Why Fisheyes, well his eyes were still popped out from his face like fish. Geez like he¡¯d never seen a woman before. Getting absolutely no response from him I do something that was completely unladylike. I¡¯ll leave that to your imagination. *** Pan *** Let me start out with this; no matter what form it takes getting your balls crushed hurts. Whoever this girl is she doesn¡¯t even bother with a hello. She just walks over to me and pokes me in the head. Does she respond when I asked her what she¡¯s doing? No, she just plants her face in her hand a starts cursing rather loudly. Then she calls me Fisheyes and tells me to open a menu. So, what would you do in this situation? ¡°Menu? Wha¡¡± I¡¯ll admit that my eyes might have popped out at this point. Could you blame me? Why? Because when I said Menu a window popped up. I knew that I¡¯d taken out my contacts. Why would that be important? Because they¡¯re a type of interface used to do everything from check mail to making phone calls and surfing the web. I really shouldn¡¯t even be able to see this window. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Character Stats
Skills Skill upgrades Character upgrades Bestiary World lore¡ While I was reading, this I felt her reach between my legs. Now being unsure as to just what was happening, and thinking that a woman might want something to do with me I let her do it. That¡¯s when the pain started. Dropping to my knees I probably would have curled up into a ball if it weren¡¯t for the fact that she still had ahold of me. Still holding on tightly she asks me ¡°Are you about done staring Fisheyes?¡± Somehow, I managed to groan out ¡°Not staring.¡± Thankfully she let go at that point. Dropping the rest of the way to the ground I wince hitting the bottom. ¡°So, Fisheyes; just what exactly were you doing if you weren¡¯t staring at me? Really it was rude.¡± She said. Still groaning ¡°Let¡¯s see. How about this I was wandering just who the hell you are, and what you¡¯re doing out here by yourself?¡± After some of the pain had faded I said ¡°And oh yeah why the hell did you start cursing after you had tapped my forehead?¡± I managed while getting to my feet. Rolling her eyes instead of answering me she asks me ¡°What the hell were you doing leaving early? According to the schedule I was given before my ass was dropped here you weren¡¯t supposed to leave for hours yet.¡± Huh. ¡°Wait, you tried to neuter me because I was leaving before you thought that I was scheduled to?¡± I say to the crazy bitch that tried to make sure that I never had any children. ¡°You know what screw it. Let¡¯s start with something basic like names. My name is Pan, and you are?¡± At this point I don¡¯t even want to know but manners, right? ¡°My name is Ros¡ You know what just call me Rose since it looks like I¡¯m going to be stuck in this form for a while. So just why the hell were you trying to leave so early? Today of all days huh? I was supposed to drop by give you the basics of just what the fuck is going on now that your world has become a part of the game system. You stupid Moron! Do you even have any kind of survival skills?¡± she asked me. I know that my jaw dropped at this point. Making sure to pick it back up off the ground I tell her about the quest that I¡¯d received this morning, or rather part of it because I don¡¯t want to be seen as a pervert. My love life or lack of one is none of her damned business. This is the point that a smart man would ask just what the hell is going on with the world. Not wanting to disappoint I ask her for what she knows. ¡°That ass munch Carlisle decided to be a whiny little turd and ordered me to complete the game so that he and the others would know how.¡± She growled out. ¡°Wait a second; you make it seem like he controls the planet somehow. How could someone own the freaking planet and nobody know about it?¡± I asked her. Trust me right about now I am completely out of my mind with how she is making this out to be. ¡°Why wouldn¡¯t the god that created your planet own it?¡± she asks me. Her claims of there being a divine being that owned our world infuriated me to no ends. Just where was this god when all the bad crap started to happen in our history? It has to be a load of crap¡ Right? A Forced Explanation Carlisle ¡°So, let me ask you something Carlisle; Just how many times have you reset your world since you found out about how having npc¡¯s in your party helps your character survive longer? 5 times? 10 times? 15, 20 times? Just what exactly were you trying to accomplish with so many resets?¡± Gale asked me. ¡°It¡¯s closer to 50 times if you really must know. As for why; There¡¯s a couple of reasons. One of them, at least at the beginning is that I¡¯d put in an automatic reset for when the population got to a certain point. After I found out about how having npc¡¯s in the party helped our survival rate I started to do it manually to keep certain traits in the population. Before that the reset was fairly indiscriminate with how the people were targeted.¡± I replied to her. What¡ It¡¯s mine, or rather it was before I had to give it up to give Rosch a fresh place to recruit a npc party. ¡°I was trying to make a npc that could be considered an all-rounder. You know someone who could fill in at all levels of the game. Fighting, magic, healing, anything and everything that I could foresee happening.¡± I told her. It was a good plan for me after all crap kept happening to my other party members when I was with other players. ¡°So, did it succeed?¡± Gale asked me. ¡°Did you manage to create your perfect npc that would enable you to get what you wanted?¡± Damn is she inquisitive. ¡°Yes. There are hundreds of the now that could in fact fill any position that I would need them for. ¡°I told her not sure why she would want to know. ¡°So, did you set Rosch up with one of your perfect npc¡¯s?¡± Gale asked me.¡± Fuck no! They¡¯re too precious for me to give her someone who could help me beat the game. Besides I want her to feel the same frustration that the rest of us have felt trying to beat her damned game.¡± I told Gale. She started sputtering at me. ¡°Why would you do that when you pretty much forced her and the rest of the gods to have her play the game? You even gave up control of your world in order to make it happen.¡± Fools I¡¯m not that generous. Rosch Maybe I shouldn¡¯t have told him that Carlisle is that much of a prick; that he pretty much threw everyone on this world under a bus just to make it easier for him to devote more time to playing the game. Though I am enjoying how Pan is cursing Carlisle Just as much as I had done so far in the past. I honestly would have let him go on forever but it¡¯s getting us nowhere and I would like to be free from the restriction that the other gods put me under at some point in my life. Trying to interrupt him was not easy let me tell you. For a while there I don¡¯t think he even heard me. So, while he kept cursing the god of his world I pulled out my weapon to finally get a look at it. I know not smart of me, but hey I was in a bit of a rush earlier trying to make sure he wasn¡¯t killed off before I got to him. A gleaming copper khopesh. Four feet long with a foot of it just for the handle. Etched onto the blade are letter that spell out the word ¡°Bohica¡±. Not knowing just what it meant I tapped Pan with the blunt edge just to watch it disapper from my hand. ¡°Damn it! Would it kill you guys to make this just a little easier for me?¡± I yelled out to the sky. That seemed to get Pan¡¯s attention. ¡°Ok Pan I want you to open your inventory and tell me what you find there.¡± I tell him almost positive that he now has my weapon. With the luck, I¡¯ve had so far, I¡¯m certain that the other gods found a way to screw me over again. ¡°Um, just a moment¡ how do I open my inventory?¡± he asked me. Oh, for heaven¡¯s sake do I have to explain everything to him? ¡°Ok. To open your inventory, you can either concentrate on it or you can say he words open inventory.¡± I tell him not liking this situation at all. ¡°Open inventory.¡± Pan called out louder than was necessary but since it was his first time I think he was nervous. ¡°Um ok there¡¯s a sword in there and I just got a pop up saying Rosch B.O.H.I.C.A. means bend over here it comes again. As in take it up the ass! Carlisle.¡± Pan looked at me and saw the angry expression that I couldn¡¯t keep in; then he did something that proved his lack of survival skills. He asked me what I did to piss off Carlisle. Smacking him upside the head I told him to just open a map so that we could get on with his active quest. Actually, I told him if he didn¡¯t then I¡¯d start to crush his balls again. Oh, I almost forgot something. ¡°Pan, before we set out you might want to do two things. One; You might want to make sure make sure that your quest is active, and two you might want to check if you can form a party otherwise I¡¯ll have to form one.¡± I said to him. I needed the party in order to make sure that I got some kind of loot from the monsters Pan killed since he now had my weapon. Side bonus it would allow me to gain back the levels I had lost in the experience transfer earlier. Eventually he asked me how to form a party. Damn men and not asking directions. Ugh.Enjoying the story? Show your support by reading it on the official site. Pan I swear this woman is trying to drive me insane. All she does is boss me around; what makes it worse is that she knows all of this is new to me and doesn¡¯t even try to help me learn. Hell, she hasn¡¯t even bothered to tell me how to do something unless she was annoyed with me for taking too long for her liking. She treats me as if I¡¯m already supposed to know how to do this stuff. After I ask her how to form a party she tell me that it¡¯s a visual interface much as my contacts were. All I needed to do is use the muscles in my eyes to scroll up and down as well as select what I wanted in the menu. Some of the things in the menu could be voice commands or brought up using my thoughts but not all of it. Thank God for small favors right. Managing to finally pull up a map with the quest markers I see that it is in fact active and some of the markers have a countdown with them. ¡°So it looks like all the map markers are in a straight line to where I work.¡± I tell her. Switching from that to trying to form a party with her I don¡¯t see anyone on the list of people that I can form a party with. Looking at her I now see her name in the party menu so I send her a party request. Knowing that the knives that I¡¯d brought weren¡¯t the best weapons I check my inventory and equip the khopesh that I¡¯d gotten from Rose. ¡°Hey Rose, do you want any of the knives that I brought with me for weapons?¡± I ask her knowing how upset she had been losing her sword to me. She tells me to hand them over and it looks to me like somehow when she equipped them they formed sheathes around them. I tell her that I¡¯m ready to go and we set off to the first of the map markers. When we get there the person that we¡¯re supposed to pick up is still inside the doors to the building. Outside of the doors are a pair of the knight squirrels for us to fight. Not knowing if the stuff that I¡¯d given to Rose would actually be useful in this fight I rush in drawing the Khopesh on my way to the squirrels. Swinging wildly, I manage to hit one of the squirrels catching it by surprise. Trying to finish the first squirrel off I instead see Rose rushing in faster than I had and stabbing the squirrel like a machine gun going off. Switching targets since it looks like Rose has that one handled I turn just in time to see the other Knight squirrel rushing at me. Taking a step back I take a wild swing at the approaching Knight squirrel only to see it jump onto my sword right before it headbutts me. Losing sight of it because of the collision I turn my head left and right before turning around to find the Knight squirrel that had headbutted me being taken care of by Rose. Apparently after it had jumped off my sword Rose had caught it on the knife that I had given her earlier. Damn she must be faster than a typhoon to have done that. I¡¯ll admit to being a little jealous of her right now. ¡°Just how the hell did you manage to do that?¡± I ask her. ¡°I have more stats than you do right now so these fights are easier for me than they are for you.¡± She responds. This is the point where another pop-up appears in front of me.
Pan 10 exp. Rose 40 exp. 20 Unity gained Knuckle short sword gained
Giving Rose the short sword I wonder just why Rose gained so much more exp. than I had. ¡°Is there some kind of reason as to why you gained more experience than I did?¡± I ask her. ¡°Did you mess with the exp. Distribution at all?¡± she asks me. Looking into the party menu I find what I¡¯m looking for and try to adjust it. It only lets me adjust it to the point where I am receiving 45% of the party exp. I guess that it¡¯s better than the 20% that it had been at before. Done with that I ask her if she can use the short sword that I¡¯d given her. She tells me she needs to regain her lost levels to use it. Not having anything else to do here we pick up our lost little lamb and move on to collect the next one. On the way to pick up the next woman I look at the stats that I have.
Pan Level 1 Exp. To the next level 40/100 Str 10 Per 10 Luck 10 Vit 10 Wis 10 Int 10 Sta 10 Agi 10 Mind 10 Health 60/100 Stamina 85/100 Satiety 85/100
Huh, wait a second¡ now I know that I¡¯m slow. Regain levels? ¡°Uh Rose what exactly did you do to lose levels in the first place?¡± I ask her. Not just slow, I¡¯m stupid too. Ever hear the saying about curiosity and the cat? Well I¡¯m living it right now. ¡°I lost those levels when I poked you in the forehead earlier. A damned exp. transfer window popped up and it wouldn¡¯t close. I tried to make us even as far as our levels went and it drained me of all the levels that I had.¡± She growls at me. Gulp! It was at this point when our temporary travelling companion broke into our conversation. ¡°What the hell are you two talking about? Level? Experience?¡± she yells at us. Telling her that we¡¯d explain on the way to the next map marker we set off on our way. Rous Galore Pan ¡°So, wat¡¯s your name?¡± I ask our little stray not wanting her to know that I already knew all the pertinent information about her including her three sizes. ¡°My name is Antonia.¡± She replied probably not even remembering that I¡¯ve worked with her for some time now, or that¡¯s what I thought until she said ¡°I know who you are. Everybody at work talks about Pan the VIRGIN.¡± Oh, god why did she have to say that? I really wish she hadn¡¯t said that about me. It¡¯s embarrassing to hear that all the women at work talk about me that way. Not even paying attention to what was said Rose explains everything that¡¯s going on to Antonia, as we approach the next marker location I suggest that we leave any further explanations until we get to where I work. At each location, we find a pair of the Knight Squirrels that we must fight. At around the fourth or fifth location I decide to start experimenting with learning the attack patterns of the squirrels since I seem to be the only one taking hits from the damned things, plus since Rose has already leveled past me It¡¯s as good a time as any for me to see just what I can do to even the playing field a bit. After the eighth or ninth fight with them I start to notice a small experience bar growing in my HUD. After the tenth fight Rose starts to yell at me telling me to just fight them rather than dance around them like some kind of pansy. God this woman irritates me to no end. Fine. Killing all the squirrels we find on our way to my work, we arrive at the Parking lot of the building only to see another sixty of the Knight Squirrels and another thirty critters that we¡¯d never seen before. ¡°So, is there some kind of way to separate these things so we don¡¯t wind up in some kind of mass melee?¡± I ask Rose since she seems to be our resident expert on everything that¡¯s happening to the world now. ¡°Sure, there is, but I have a question for you before we start this shindig. Have you upgraded your stats yet?¡± she asks me. Ummm, we can upgrade stats? I think to myself. ¡°Just a moment.¡± I say to her since once again she has left vital information out of any kind of conversation we have had. Going into my menu I see an option for character upgrades. ¡°Am I supposed to have thirty-eight stat points?¡± I ask her since all this crap is new to me still. ¡°No.¡± she replies in a very growly fashion. So taking that as my que to keep my mouth shut I spend three points into each stat except for strength agility and vitality. Those I put five points into. After I do that I finally look up at the sign of the building I had worked at for years. Seeing the sign my jaw drops again as the sign had changed to say ¡°Carlisle¡¯s Wonderful Goods¡±. Looking higher to roll my eyes at the heavens I notice something that made me cringe. On top of the building is another squirrel. THIS ONE is the size of a mac truck, and it¡¯s looking right at us. ¡°Ok, Rose I have to ask you something rather important. Why have all the enemies that We¡¯ve fought so far been squirrels?¡± I say to her rather bemused at this point since I had seen a lot more impressive creatures come out of the mass of monsters that appeared this morning on the news. ¡°Well, it¡¯s because this city is so large it¡¯s become a kind of beginner¡¯s dungeon. So, what¡¯s the most populous creature in a city? Rodents have the largest population in any city, and since we haven¡¯t gone underground at all since this started all we¡¯ve seen are squirrels. If we¡¯d gone into the sewers we would have run into rats rather than squirrels.¡± She replies to me as if it had been an obvious answer. ¡°So, why squirrels then? Wouldn¡¯t rabbits have had the same kind of population?¡± I ask her not really getting it.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. ¡°Rabbits would have the same population, but since we haven¡¯t entered into any of the park districts then all we¡¯ve gotten are squirrels who have more of a tendency of going everywhere than rabbits do.¡± Rose said. ¡°Hey, you guys promised that you¡¯d give more of an explanation when we got here. I¡¯m waiting!¡± Antonia said to us breaking into the explanation that Rose was giving me. ¡°Let¡¯s wait until we¡¯re inside to talk about that.¡± I said to Antonia knowing that it was probably better to explain once than repeatedly. Muttering under my breath I say ¡°Maybe I can escape from Mama Sue in the resulting uproar.¡± Having had some reservations come to mind once I saw the quest rewards screen that had appeared this morning. Looking at Rose I ask her to start pulling the enemies to us to which she replied ¡°It¡¯s called kiting an opponent.¡± Now she starts giving out things I haven¡¯t asked for. ¡°Ok, how many can you kite to us without us being overwhelmed?¡± I ask her knowing that this would be important to our survival. ¡°Two or three should be plenty to worry about for now.¡± She says to me as she starts to head for the enemies. ¡°Hey make sure that when you get to the new ones that you only bring one back with you so we can see what they can do!¡± I yell out quickly before she can get too far from me the answer that I receive back from her is less than polite as far as gestures go. She reaches the first group waiting for a second for one of them to notice her before starting on her way back to the group that we¡¯re leading. I move slightly away from them so that there would be less of a chance that they would be brought into the fight that was about to happen. Getting to within ten feet of me I rush past Rose so that I can get the first hit off the pair that Rose had managed to bring back towards me knocking the first one to the ground and heading towards the second so that Rose wouldn¡¯t be attacked while she was dealing with the first one I hit. Managing to hit the second one as easily as the first one I¡¯d knocked down I pass a quick look back at her to make sure she would be able to take care of it before resuming the fight in front of me. The Knight Squirrel that I had just managed to hit was getting back to its feet before I brought the Khopesh down on its neck severing the head from it. Up until this point every time we had managed to kill one of these things they had disappeared immediately leaving not even a speck of blood behind as evidence of its grisly demise; This one however not only stayed where I had killed it but the head landed a few feet away giving a slight wobbly spin to it before coming to a stop. Looking back at Rose I see her finish her fight only to see a bloody carcass remaining where she had been fighting her own monster. Jaw dropping for the third time today I¡¯m about to ask her what the hell is going on when I feel something ram me in the back. Trying to turn swiftly to deal with my attacker I see Rose rush past me pinning it down with a knife before slicing into its neck leaving a horrid gash there. Breathing harshly, it takes a moment for me to ask what¡¯s going on with the corpses that we now have around us. ¡°When these things first appeared, they were more like balloons that would pop when we defeated them. Now that some time has passed they¡¯re more real than they were when first coming into existence. Think about it this way when we first had to deal with them they were more spirit than body though they had a sort of outer shell for us to fight. Now though they have taken on a more corporeal form than before so not only can we get money, items and experience from them, we can also get things like meat and potion ingredients from them.¡± The Work is Never Done Rosch So, maybe I should have explained all of this to Pan before we got this far. The main reason that I didn¡¯t is because I was still annoyed with all the crap that Carlisle was putting me through with my levels and equipment. I mean so far as I¡¯m concerned I should still be level 25 and shepherding Pan around power leveling him so that I can get out of here as fast as I can but here I am stuck actually having to fight alongside him in order to gain back the levels I lost in that stupid experience transfer that apparently didn¡¯t even work as it should have. So here I am frustrated beyond all belief angry at Pan for no reason other than the fact that I¡¯m stuck with him until we manage to get our act together and beat the game. ¡°So, what¡¯s with all the monsters that spawned when this world became part of the game system?¡± Pan asked me. ¡°Well let¡¯s say that those monsters are going to take over parts of the ecosystem on this world. Every monster that spawned is going to have a new place in this world. From the dragons on down the line to the rats all of them are going to have a place in the new pecking order. Just keep in mind that all of them are going to have a natural predator on this planet, even the dragons are going to have a natural nemesis. Though that nemesis is more likely to be the people on this planet than any of the other monsters here.¡± I replied somewhat snarkily; hey I never said that I enjoyed having to play Sherpa to any of the people that I¡¯m going to have with me through this mission. Having given Pan that bit of information I start to kite the next group of monsters over his protest that he needed to have more information about what¡¯s going to happen to his world now that it¡¯s begun the transformation into one of the system worlds of the game. Managing to kill all the Knight Squirrels before too much has passed I reach level five and finally have enough levels to equip the Knuckle Short Swords that we had managed to get during our trek to this storefront. Going to bring in one of the new monsters that we must fight I manage to get halfway to Pan before I¡¯m struck from behind. Picking up my pace I know that I need to have back-up in case something else goes wrong with the current fight I¡¯m in. Getting back to Pan I turn to face this new creature that managed to attack me before I was ready to face it.This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. Seeing Pan rush past me to fight the new monster I watch as he misses his first attack on it. Or rather I should say Strike One. Strike Two. Strike Three. Good thing this isn¡¯t Baseball or else we would be in trouble. I go into the fray trying to help him and get to see how incredibly fast this thing is before making my first strike at it. Right as it was going to hit Pan he manages to get out of the way of the attack by the narrowest of margins. Pan drops his sword from his attack position and starts to watch the new squirrel for any new attack that it¡¯s going to make at him. I go to make an attack and Pan waves me away. ¡°Don¡¯t attack it. I have the aggro right now and need to see the timing of its attacks in order to get its patterns.¡± I stop, dumbfounded to know that there is a plan to what he¡¯s doing. Pan Ok so that¡¯s not the entire reason why I want Rose not to attack this thing. See when I dodged its attack earlier that little experience bar that was at the bottom of my HUD jumped up by one third of the total progress. Wanting to know just what would happen when this bar got full I told Rose not to attack otherwise I would miss this chance to see the results from it being full. Making sure to watch the ridiculously fast monster in front of me I dodged its next attack. Now the bar is just a little tick away from being full and I am just a small amount of time away from knowing at least one part of its attack patterns. Watching, watching, Move. The bar is now about a quarter full and I see a small prompt in front of me saying that I need to be out of combat to see the upgrade that I received from the experience bar reaching full. Seeing that I won¡¯t be able to get the results of getting that bar filled until I finish off the monster. Waiting for the next attack to come I quickly dodge it to counter-attack it. Oddly enough that was all it took to kill it. One simple swing of my sword. She Needs Anger Management Pan *** ¡°What the Hell were you doing¡± Rose asked me. I replied to her the only way that I reasonably could ¡°Would you believe research?¡± This being right before she smacked me upside the head for being foolish about taking on an unknown opponent by myself. I¡¯ll admit that part of that might be because of how she¡¯d been treating me up to this point. So, while I was rubbing my head where she hit me I looked at what I got for leveling that little bar that was on the bottom of my screen.
Skill obtained Level 1 Dodge While it might be quicker to end a fight by hitting an opponent you know the importance of not getting hit. Unfortunately, you seem to lack the grace of not being hit by your partner. Add an additional 10% to agility when in a fight or when trying to get out of the way of thrown crockery. Buddy are you sure the two of you aren¡¯t married?
Huh that was something else. I didn¡¯t quite expect a window like that to pop up after getting a skill. ¡°So, what exactly are those things?¡± Rose asks me. ¡°Why ask me it should be in your bestiary right?¡± I answered her not knowing why she¡¯d need me to answer that question ¡°No, Pan it¡¯s not in my beastiary since I¡¯m not the one to kill it. Hell, I didn¡¯t even get a hit in so it won¡¯t show for me since you have to participate in the fight to get any kind of information on these things.¡± Rose told me once again being rather snarky in her response. Ok. So, I didn¡¯t know that but since we¡¯re in a party wouldn¡¯t the system refer to us both as being in combat since she was hit by the stupid thing. Evidently not since she;s tapping her foot waiting for me to give her the info on the squirrel we¡¯d just fought.
Dash Squirrel Not to be confused with a blue hedgehog this squirrel can move in bursts of up to 50 mph. Getting away from this creature is often a matter of having the ability to teleport as once it locks onto you it will easily be able to catch up unless you can move faster than it can. This creature has a special ability once it gets to higher levels called Cannonball. If you can¡¯t figure this one out, then may you never breed.

Damn just what did I do to deserve something like this in my life? Snarky, hell they¡¯re just being rude. Who comes up with these things? ¡°Hey Rose, quick question for you. Why do you expect me to already know all these things about the menu?¡± I ask getting really frustrated with everything that¡¯s going on. ¡°Because they¡¯re common video game menu¡¯s for R.P.G. games which is what the world has become.¡± Rose said. ¡°Um, just what exactly is a video game?¡± I ask her. She walks me back towards the ladies that are waiting for us to clear out the rest of the parking lot and asks them if there are video games in this world. ¡°Yes, there are. Why do you ask?¡± Antonia asks. ¡°Because Pan doesn¡¯t know what a video game is.¡± Rose tells them. I get a few slack jawed looks from them as if it¡¯s not a common thing to not know what a game is. ¡°Well I constantly get low ratings from the the L.M.D. also the teachers and the Gym trainers that I go to constantly tell me that I need to work harder.¡± I reply. ¡°It¡¯s not my fault that they keep telling me that I¡¯ll be exiled if I don¡¯t work to bring up my scores. I look them up every night before bed and they look fine to me, but I¡¯m constantly told that they¡¯re too low for the Gene marker scores.¡± I tell them without blinking an eye. It¡¯s time to tell you the sad truth. There are two scores that account for citizenship in the cities, or at least there were before all this happened. The score from the L.M.D. which gives you how you are doing with keeping up to the normal standards within the city and the Gene marker scores which tell you how high your L.M.D. scores are actually supposed to be. If the two scores don¡¯t match for too long a period, then your citizenship is revoked and you are sent out into the wilds without even a canteen for water. There is no coming back from exile. Ever. People who are sent into exile are sometimes even shot before they exit view of the city since it was found that it¡¯s the people who don¡¯t live up to their Gene marker scores that are the cause of the plagues that will sometimes wipe out entire cities. Unfortunately for me I was almost out of time for matching my Gene marker score amongst other things. Not knowing what else to say to them I turn back to the parking lot and ask if there was something here that would us to plow through them faster. ¡°Not unless you have some kind of bomb or something.¡± Rose replied. Damn it all to hell that just means that this is going to have to go the hard way. Walking forward a little bit I say to Rose ¡°Does this new system just affect us or does it affect everybody?¡± thinking that I already know the answer. ¡± It affects everybody, but since the rest of the group hasn¡¯t had any combat time so far they won¡¯t be able to keep up with us.¡± She said. Ok. This is going to be interesting then. The two of us are going to have to clear out everything without any kind of help. Remind me again why I signed up for this¡
