《The Rare KInd》


 Chapter 1

    Iopened my eyes groggily; I stared on ceiling I didn''t know. I glanced around there was no one in this room and this room doesn''t seem like a room in hospital. This room had no windows; I tried to sit up, to find that I was cuffed to the bed, had someone kidnapped me. I tried to remember things from earlier, I was walking from school to home with Alex, my friend when suddenly someone attacked us .


    The thought of Alex being injured snapped me back to reality. Many questions appeared in my mind what if Alex was injured? Was he alright?                          I suddenly remembered that I was thrown aside by Alex when we were being attacked that means that he took the full brunt of the attack but still I have no wound or injury. Then wherever he is Alex must be injured I need to find him out. I vigorously tried to break the cuffs with no result. Since when I was here in this room, I looked around trying to find something to break this cuff.


    I tried to pull out my arm by pulling it out and lacerations appeared on my hand. My master had taught me that when we are in difficult situation we have to injure ourselves sometimes to get out of a dangerous situation and I know what I need to do to get out of the cuffs. I closed and silently prayed for a second and then broke my thumb from the joint. I grunted and slowly took out my hand, when I suddenly heard footsteps OH NO! Not now, I quickly lied down and inserted my hand in the cuff. Someone entered the room, no it was three people, someone held my non-cuffed hand like checking my pulse, and no one can know that I am awake. I slowed down my heart enough that it would seem that I was still sleeping instead I was planning on how I would attack each of them. I peeked around the positions of the men standing one was just right to my bad and one was just near my feet. It''s as if I am caged. I just planned to attack them when some more people entered Tch! This looks difficult now and with my right hand injured, it will become more difficult.


    A man spoke, the man had a husky voice


    "Young master you didn''t have to come here we took care of her"


    "Then why is she cuffed" Said a young man as it seemed from the voice.


    Wait a sec I have heard this voice before, but where, I think it''s...its Alex voice. Alex but why was he addressed as a young master and if it is Alex than he is alright.


    "Sorry young master, but we can''t take a chance what if she awoke, you know she can easily take us three out so we were cautious" said someone from my left


    "I understand but now I am here she won''t do anything" said Alex, someone moved and freed my right hand. Someone held it before it touched the ground.

    "Huh! But this was not here earlier, how did it appear here" said the man who earlier holding my hand but now was analyzing my wound.


    "Is it possible that she woke up earlier and tried to get out but she lost consciousness due to the shifting of her thumb joint?" concluded the doctor


    "It is possible but don''t you think that with her that is impossible that she will pass out because of dislocating her thumb joint" Alex scoffed and said


    "You are right young master, this girl will just not pass out because of this small injury something else must have happened" said the one with husky voice


    "but who else will injure her like this , we never saw someone entering or leaving " said the one man standing beside my foot , I prayed for them to not reach the conclusion that I was the one who did it and that I am awake now .


    "Enough whatever it is we will find out later, for now we have to take her home, her mother would be worried for her now." said Alex sharply and angrily, why was he angry and what has truly happened.


    "Ok young master" everyone replied , someone took me up in arms , guess it was Alex as all others suddenly shot up and asked that they can carry her why was Alex taking such a great pain , and to them Alex answered


    "She is precious to me and I won''t let anyone other than me to touch her."


    well I was precious to Alex after all I was his best friend. Thinking this I missed Bess, if she were here she would have made fun of how Alex spoke this line, I told my heart again that there is no hidden meaning in this line. Wait a sec how is Alex able to carry me if I remember correctly he was injured heavily. Ugh! I don''t understand at all, but I can''t exactly come out now and ask him for the answers because something tells me that he won''t be truly forthcoming. We entered a car and sat there he still wasn''t letting me instead I was still in arms. I was still confused as to what happened when I suddenly felt him bent towards me and said in a trembling voice


    "I am so sorry I was not able to protect you , I am so sorry " from where I see it he did protect me , but who attacked me that thing still haunts me , will I be safe out again , I need to prepare myself for in the future .


    "But don''t worry now I will protect you from now on" said Alex on the verge of crying. I wanted so much to comfort him but was in dilemma, before I could do anything; he suddenly asked "will she remember everything"


    "Of course not young master, we took care of everything" said someone, why are they trying to erase my memory, trying to keep me in the dark are they, even though they failed very hardly. Even though Alex is so smart sometimes, he becomes so dumb.


    The car stopped, before exiting Alex asked someone


    "Call James here and ask him to come ASAP, also clear the miasma around this area, if she breaths it her wound may open up again after she was attacked by a demon"


    What the hell demons, miasma is he crazy, what is he talking about. I think his mind was damaged seriously in the earlier attacked.


    "Ok, young master "Said everyone present in the car together. Why were they not correcting Alex? He must be critically ill maybe that''s why they are agreeing with him

    Someone opened the car door and he still carrying me started up the stairs. I lived on the first floor . He rang the bell; my mom opened the gate, seeing me in Alex''s arm she must have got so scared because she asked in a terror-filled voice


    "What happened to Kate?"


    "Nothing to worry about auntie, when we were coming back she fainted, doctor said she was slightly anemic and I just carried her here" said Alex half lying. She moved aside and let Alex carry to my room , he put me down on my bed and stroked back the hair that were now on my face , he suddenly pulled back his hand , got up and went away excusing himself. My mom came and sat beside me. She slapped me lightly; I acted as if I was just walking up and gasped.


    "Mom!" I said


    "Kate, how are you feeling my little darling" She asked, I put a hand on my forehead and said" Wait a second, what happened, I was walking back home and then I lost conscious and then..........how did I end up here?" I asked continuing with the lie Alex just spoke, I must get the details right or mom might think that something else might be going on. My mom calmed me down and answered


    "Kate, you must have been feeling anemic because you lost consciousness, your friend Alex found you and carried you here" I calmed down allegedly and asked


    "Alex carried me here! But where is he " And I looked around and again asked


    "Where is he, I must thank him " My mom simply answered


    "He had to go home, his mother was worried, but he said to tell you that take care and be safe"


    ''Be safe'' that is very uncharacteristic thing for Alex to say, did he want to point out the attack from earlier, that I should be protective, but why. I ruffled my hair this is giving me a headache. Seeing me ruffling my hair mom got worried and asked


    "What happened Kate, is something the matter"


    "No, no nothing mom, I just need some sleep that''s all "I said


    "Yes, yes, of course you need to sleep, wait a second; I will bring you some food after that you can sleep. Okay, until then lie down and don''t get up" mom said with a strict tone which means if I get up now death will await me. I love my mom so much , she is so sweet caring but in the past recent years we have become a little far from each other because of me and not because of her. She still cares for me as much as in the past and I care for her more than ever but the distance between us has grown.


    I cannot tell her some things I did in the past which lead to this distance. That I cannot close up because closing up meant telling her everything I did. Every bad thing according to me I did and I cannot do that. If I did she would definitely blame herself, blame herself as to why she could not help me at that time when I was doing things that I did.


    I can only say that I survived that time cause Bess was there and in the later period Alex was there and him helping was also one of the reasons I fell in love with him. He was my salvation at that time and so was Bess , the things I did at that time , I can''t forgive myself for that and until and unless I forgive myself , I can''t close this distance between mom and me .

I admit that in fact I am scared to tell her what I did, how I did those things. Few tears fell down my cheek but I quickly rubbed them and shifted my depressing mood to think about what happened today.


    The first thing was, I was coming home with Alex today while Bess was not around and still in school. We were just laughing, making fun of each other, when suddenly someone attacked from behind. Alex somehow shows super reflex and takes the full brunt. I mean how can his reflex be better than me after all I am what they call the strongest woman in the school, strong enough to defeat anyone, even the judo teachers.


    I have also beaten Alex in a completion , but how could he?, putting this question aside , somehow I fainted after the attack and woke in an unknown room , I had no injury on me , nor did Alex had any injury , how in the world did that happen? . Continuing why was Alex called ''young master '' by everyone, was he the son of some big shot billionaire. Was he attacked because he is the son of some big shot billionaire? Is his life in danger? Did he keep a secret about him being a normal student? I need to search more on him, I getting worried about him. And then there''s this Miasma, demon thing what was he trying to say. Who is this James? Why would it be bad if I inhaled miasma? How could it reopen my alleged wounds?


    God! I hate this. There are more questions than answers. I need these answers. When I was thinking on about how I will get my answers mom entered the room with food, my favorite food, which is a healthy cutlet. I ate happily and without much further thought into what happened today.


    When mom finally left, I quickly brought out my laptop and searched for Miasma. The first thing that came up was '' a dangerous, foreboding or death like atmosphere breath out by demons living in hell''


    What in the world, how does Alex know about this and why was he talking about clearing this miasma? I mean how can he clean this demon stuff? Does this mean that there are demons living in the world, or hell whatever? I searched more about this miasma stuff and demons, in Indian mythology Demons are called as ''Rakhshas '' or ''Asuras''. In Greek mythology, demons are called ''Daimon''. In early 18th century the miasma air was thought to carry diseases like cholera, it was believed that it could make one obese. I closed my laptop; this stuff is only increasing my questions not the answers.


    Tomorrow I am going to make him answer all of my questions, even if I had to kidnap him, okay this is a bit too much but I will do whatever it takes to get him to answer my questions. I lied down and repeated what happened, what questions I had and what I had learned, comparing the two, I had a hell of questions than answers.


    Sleep didn''t come easily to me, all the thoughts churned in my mind, churned till finally sleep came to me.

 Chapter-3

    "Did you find who ordered the attack on her" Said Alex. Hmmm what is happening?


    "Yes, young master" said a man addressing to me, I have heard this voice, he was in the room before but why was he calling me ''young master'' and even though I heard Alex speaking where is he standing. What is going on?


    "Who was it?" Alex asked


    "It was the Aisha Group" The man once again said addressing to me, why was he looking at me and not at Alex.


    This dream is just too weird.


    "That group of fox, but why would they attack her she is a human and they signed the treaty with us not to attack humans." Alex said. ''Humans'' why was he talking like that I was human and he was not? He is human isn''t he?


    "And from further investigation it was found that someone from that group will soon be transferring to your school , young master " said the man ,                          is this some kind of conspiracy thing .Anyway this dream is seeming so realistic , and I still can''t seem to find out Alex .


    "There''s something else also, young master , if you want to know that is " said the man again directing towards me ,                                              what was with this man every time pointing towards me yet addressing to Alex,                                                                      does he think I am Alex but I can hear Alex''s voice where is that coming from. This is so confusing.


    "What is it, tell me straightly Stephen" Alex asked, so this man''s name was Stephen


    "It is ¡­¡­ rumored that " Stephen said slowly taking pause between


    "Tell me quickly, I don''t have time, I got to school." Alex thundered Stephens looked scared for a second.


    "Sorry, young master , It is rumored , no in fact we have confirmed that she is the RARE KIND " Stephens said emphasizing on the words'' rare kind'' ,                        what is this rare kind thing now , whatever it was Alex panicked


    "This cannot be true, Kate cannot be the Rare Kind " Alex said panicked , wait they are talking about me being the rare kind , what the hell is this dream , how can I just start inventing stuff like the rare kind , my mind must be playing games on me .


    "It is true , sir , the Aisha group found out first and they attacked her to obtain her , but grandfather have been notified about-" Suddenly the voice stopped and the dream kind of blacked of , I opened my eyes and found myself back in my room . Mom hovering me


    "Kate, do you want to go to school today?" she asked


    "Yeah, yeah I alright, I will definitely go to school." I answered. She backed up, said she had no problem with me going and went out to do her daily chores. I sat there calming my mind , what the hell was that dream , I made two goals one to talk to Alex find the answers from him and the second to figure this dream out , maybe talk about it with Bess or Alex.


    Anyway, I got ready for the school and hurried to the school.


    When I reached around the door, I saw Alex reading a novel, sitting in his usual place.


    The light was reflecting on his face, which was coming from window, it was illuminating his face in a way that I never thought it was possible. I wanted to capture that moment in a camera and look at it forever. Before I could say anything he noticed and saw me , right now I was staring at him , strangely he was staring at me like I was some enrapturing thing , I must be imagining . I shook my head and moved forward.


    "Hey are you alright now, not feeling anemic are you?" Alex asked jokingly , all the enrapture I was feeling earlier vanished now all that left was a determination to find out what was going on with Alex


    "Yeah, yeah I am alright now, hey Alex?" I said


    "What Kate, you seem kind of nervous." Alex asked closing his book, boy he is good at picking subtle signs.


    "No, it''s nothing like that; I just wanted to talk to you." I said backing a little, he stood up now


    "What is it Kate and you can talk to me about whatever you want , don''t be afraid okay" He said politely , why was he being this polite to me , what the hell does he think happened to me in just one night , God! He is being so paranoid right now.


    "Nothing much Alex , why are panicking this much , I just wanted to catch up to you , you know it feels like ages since we caught up and we were going to catch up yesterday when suddenly I became anemic , sorry for that by the way " I said putting my bandaged hand on Alex''s arm . He breathed in relief


    "Sorry, it''s nothing, just that " He paused


    "Just what Alex" I asked innocently concerned for my best friend, instead I wanted him to screw up here and reveal things by chance, but Alex was too clever for that, I know he won''t reveal things easily.This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.


    "I watched this serial and ...and it showed how a friend who lost consciousness suddenly and doctor first diagnosed that it was due to lack of iron in the body but later it was found that the guy had a cancer , so it is close to what happened with you so I was just concerned . You know, if you had cancer I would .........I can''t even imagine how could I........................." He suddenly became loss at words, it was as if he couldn''t even imagine a life without me, that it would be too painful for him. I knew that in fact, it was all made up , but I had to act as if what he was telling was real.


    "Don''t I don''t have cancer , so don''t imagine a world without me , I am your best friend and you won''t be able to get rid of me that easily " I said , I saw something break in Alex , to distract him I said


    "So, meet me at the gate after school and from there we will go for a cup of coffee , okay " I asked for conformation, he nodded


    "But what did-" I cut him off


    " Not now Bess is coming " He looked to the door Bess just entered . She looked at us and waived


    " Did you know Bess just shot down another guy yesterday" I said loudly enough that Bess could hear . She came towards us smiling and I asked


    "When are you going to find a boyfriend , even I am getting heartbroken by all the boys you are rejecting " She put on a thinking expression


    "Hmmmm, what to do about it , If the boys stop confessing to me , I may stop rejecting them ." She said with a bright smile , I chuckled as well .


    "Talk about an arrogant girl , come on there must be someone you like." I asked


    "Sorry , but I don''t have one " She shrugged


    " Then what about Alex here "I said totally not meaning it , Alex also looked kind of sad.


    "Sorry , no offence but NO" She said emphasizing on No


    "Non taken" Alex answered


    "Than what about Cain "I asked


    "The one who sits in front in our tuition class?" She asked


    "Yes "I replied


    "Why are you so keen on her finding her a boyfriend" Alex asked


    "Yeah, Kate why?" Bess also asked , I glared at Alex


    "Because , I want you to find happiness , I just want to see my best friend to be happy , why is that so bad ?" I confessed , Bess actually looked touched , well after all she had helped me so much how could I not want happiness for her .She hugged me


    "That''s so sweet , you know what you are sweet , I love you , okay " she said kissing me on my cheek


    "I love you too Bess " I said


    "Hey what about me no one likes me, I finally know your real feelings, I am just an outsider aren''t I , I will just silently go "Alex said sulking and started to walk away . Me and Bess together held him back.


    "You are not unliked Alex , we both like you that''s why I am not only concerned about Bess , I am also concerned about you , I think I am more concerned about you then her . 24/7 , I am concerned about you 24/7 , both of you. You two are the most special people in the world for me. So don''t even think for a second that you are not needed or you are just in the way" I said looking both at Alex and Bess , for a second there my eyes locked with Alex and I suddenly became breathless. Seriously, my heart can''t take this any longer. I looked at Bess, touched by my words she had tears in her eyes now. Good! Now I made her cry .


    "What about you?"She suddenly asked


    "What? " I asked


    "Enough about us when are you getting a boyfriend?" She asked , Shit , now what should I say , that I have already someone I like but , what if Alex takes that in the wrong way , I glanced at Alex, he was getting anxious . What was he getting anxious for?


    "I already have someone I like " I confessed


    "What!?" Both of them said in unison


    "Yes , yes, I have someone I like why is it that much of a shock I am a high school girl, you know right? " I asked Alex actually looked a little hurt , but Bess was more of anxious , was she thinking about the incident , I will never get to know after all I can''t talk about it in front of Alex.


    They both put on a sad expression and said to each other


    "Our little girl has finally grown up and here I always worried about her" Said Bess sniffling


    "We both be so lonely without her won''t we" said Alex sniffling hugged Bess


    "Yes we both will be lonely , at last she will be finally be getting a boyfriend " Bess said


    "Wait a minute I never said that I was going to confess "I interrupted there little drama


    "What , why not , you like the guy don''t you so why not , by the way who is this guy ?" Bess loaded me with questions . Thankfully, the bell saved me . I breathed in relief when suddenly Bess said " Don''t even think for a second that you are off the hook , I will get out the answers I need from you , later "She gave me a warning and we both went to our seat . Alex always sat alone , just in front of me and Bess . I didn''t ever understand why though.


    When the between the class break came , Bess asked me


    "Kate are you sure you are ready for this ?" I understand her concern , after what happened to me in the past one might hesitate in taking this kind of step , I didn''t want to think about that now , I am over that , I told myself .


    "Yes, I am sure Bess thanks for worrying but I think I am pass that " I finally answered .She smiled brightly .


    "Its okay as long as you are sure and ready." She said any further conversation was impossible as the teacher entered .

 Chapter-4

    Thankfully, I was too engrossed in studying that I kept all of my worries aside . Finally , school got over , I went downstairs with Bess .                                 Today I was supposed to go home with Bess but , I had to say no to her . When we reached the gate , I stopped her


    "What , why did we stop here? " she asked


    "I am sorry Bess , just today , I can''t go home with you " I said


    "Why ? " she asked sadly


    "I need to go somewhere with Alex" I said not withholding anything


    "Why ? "She simply asked


    "I need some answers from him that is why."I said


    "Answers for what."She asked


    "I can''t tell now but when I learn the full story I promise , you will be the first one to know."I said she thought for a second and suddenly said


    "Okay , I will go home alone , but will you answer my question"


    "What is it?" I asked


    "The one who you like , who is it? " She asked, I could evade her question if I wanted but I thought better of it


    "Alex" I answered as expected her eyes widened a bit


    "If its him I will gladly hand you to him , if you would have said someone like Cain , I would absolutely oppose it" she said after some thought


    "Thanks for your permission" I said


    "Are you going to confess to him today ?" She asked


    "No , I am not , I think there''s more to Alex than that meets the eye so , I am going to ask more about him."I replied


    "Ooooh! , it sounds exciting , I want to come but I should let you two have your time ''alone'' together" Bess said in a very suggestive way

    "Well , when two lovebirds are meeting with each other than why would I interrupt between."Bess said laughing


    "What do you mean by love birds Bess, it is totally one sided. " I said


    "But only you think that Kate that it is one sided, also including Alex . It is funny how both of you think that you have one-sided love."She said and looked behind , seeing Alex coming she said "Ah! Here''s my queue ." And she hurried off


    "Hey, Bess what did you mean by that ? " I called back at her

    "Nothing , nothing important , she was just playing around with me ." I said smiling nervously

    "Yeah, yeah lets go" I replied . We both started walking towards the'' all welcomed'' cafe , even though the name was crap they did serve very good coffee here and privacy was one thing that was given very welcomingly . And I needed a public area where we can talk privately.


    The cafe in itself was not that big but there were twenty chairs set outside it , the cafe was busy at this time of the day , crowd of all ages sat there . We found a good spot and sat there , Alex got us coffee skinny vanilla latte for me and a black coffee for him . Here we had to take our order on our own but sometimes when there is no crowd, they also serve coffee themselves. It took a few minutes for him to come until then I was thinking on how to start the conversation .


    He finally came to the table , we drank a few sips of our coffee when he suddenly asked


    "So, are you alright now , you are not feeling anemic are you ? " He asked , still keeping the facade


    "Stop lying Alex" I said sharply


    "Pardon?" he asked


    "We both know that you are lying ." I said


    "What do you mean by that?" He asked defensively


    "We both know that I didn''t faint because of anemia" I said


    "No, you fainted because of lack of iron in your body." He said still lying through his teeth


    "It was not that and you know it , in fact I remember being attacked just before I fainted." I said revealing a little truth , as expected his eyes widened a little bit , his guard dropped for a little bit but soon recovered


    "Are you crazy Kate , we were never attacked " He said


    "I never said we were attacked , I said I was attacked ."I said now he was caught


    "Yeah whatever-"He tried to put it aside but I didn''t let him


    "I remember more about yesterday , so it will better if you come out clean."I said warningly


    "Huh!? Come clean out with what , I don''t know what are you talking about? " He asked still feigning ignorance are we , lets unfold a little more shall we


    "Then you must not know about the room in which I was hand cuffed." I said looking away


    "What? " He finally responded to something


    "I thought you didn''t knew anything."I asked


    "Of course I don''t know anything I was just shocked hearing that you were cuffed to bed where exactly that happened? ." he said


    "I didn''t say that I was cuffed to bed , I just told you that I was hand cuffed , how did you know ? " I asked, Alas he has been finally cornered


    "I just thought that if you were cuffed it would be to bed ." He said trying to evade , but I won''t let him hide this


    "Don''t lie anymore Alex please just come clean and tell me the truth , you don''t need to hide anymore , whatever it is I will happily listen . And this concerns me too." I said politely . He hesitated for a second but answered


    "Kate, first of all this does not concern you and second ask me all you want but I won''t tell you a thing." He said a little harshly, tears formed in my eyes, I was not sad mostly but disappointed and angry


    "How does me being attacked doesn''t concern me and am I nothing to you, why can''t you rely on me a little. Am I that unreliable? "I asked


    "Yes you being attacked doesn''t concern you and you are that unreliable, if I tell you I don''t think I would come up with a solution. Instead, I would just be caught up in more problems. And don''t you have someone you like why don''t you go to him and win him , even if he comes to like you , as if someone will fall in love with you ." Alex''s words were like a slap to me, tears fell down my eyes ,Alex looked hurt but I just didn''t cared at all . I stood up, slapped him and walked away with a storming expression.


    Instead of going to home, I went to Bess''s house, which is incredibly near to my home , so her parents were used to me staying over . When night fell, I told her everything that had happened the previous day and on that day . Bess grew furious on my account . We made a plan to beat the crap out of Alex and we agreed on something else that he must have been hiding something so grave that he had to say these hateful that he never meant to say to me.


    We both went to sleep .

 Chapter-5

    I had one of the weird dreams again . I was in this unknown room I had never seen before in my life .                                                           The man called Stephens was standing there like before bowing a little this time , still facing me .


    "You may be right that she is the ''rare kind'' " said Alex but where is he again and again with this rare kind thing , why is mind so pressed on this rare kind thing , this is the second time I had a dream about being the rare kind even though I don''t know that what it means .


    "I researched upon it , young master before telling you " Said Stephen , just how weird this dream could get. Now I have a dream about someone searching my background. Does....... does that mean that they know about my past surely not about that thing, that thing must have not come up. Could it have? I need to know what came up in my background check . Wait a second this is a dream , of course this is not reality . Alex could never know about what happened . He would never background check anyone . This reminds me I forgot to ask questions about him and his family .


    "So , did you search the people surrounding I need to know who has the greatest possibility of forming the bond with her ?" Alex asked from wherever he is hiding . Now what is this ''bond'' thing .Why is my mind creating such sort of things , maybe Alex is right I may be crazy . To invent such kind of things .


    "The greatest possibility of her creating a bond is with you, young master." Stephens said , I make a bond with Alex is he kidding , even though I don''t know what this bond is , I still think it is impossible for me to make a bond with Alex.


    "Are you sure? " Alex asked see even in a dream Alex is having a hard time believing that he have a bond with me .

    In a blink of an eye, the school ended . Today , I asked Bess to take time off her after school activities and go home today . She asked me why but I just told that I would call her later and tell her why . She was a little persistent but at last she succumbed to my wishes .

 Chapter-6

    Since I knew Alex''s house address I went there directly . I only knew the address so I had a hard time finding his house cause the address I had was of a villa and it was a little unbelievable that he lived in such a large villa . I went to the gate there a guard stopped me .

    I entered the room once Bess arrived , until now 20 minutes have passed , we quickly settled down on the sofas , Bess took everything I asked her to bring . I quickly put on the ski mask and used the burner cell I asked Bess to bring with her with my hanky placed on the receiver end. I dialed at home mom picked up


    "Hello?" mom asked


    "Hello Mrs. Sage " I said dramatically


    "Who is it ? " She asked cautiously

I slapped him and he focused back .

    Alex''s villa was still as large as before .It took us 3 minutes from the gate to get into the main building and more 5 minutes to reach his room . Even though the house was big Alex''s room was small , a little similar like mine''s .

    For the rest of the week all I did was study , I even made my mom worry about me so she was glad when I went out to Alex''s house on Saturday .Yesterday I had called Alex to ask about when should I come to his house .     Alex led me in the house , it was big almost the size of our house . There were around 6 rooms and I went through everyone of them to look for Bess and found them in the last one .     "So next time make sure you don''t hide anything from me , okay " she said smiling

    "How are you?" Mason asked me, I wanted to lie that I am alright I can tell him right.


    "I can''t still forget and this relationship that I have started with Alex has me remembering things I don''t want too." I replied truthfully , I didn''t care that Alex was standing right there and looked sullen all of a sudden


    "That is the thing Kate you don''t need to forget that , you need to face it on and live with it . And did you just say you are in a relationship with Alex?" Mason asked astonished , this brought a smile on my lips

I started laughing so loudly , Bess came running out of one of the rooms to see what happened , James was with her .Mason stood there stood there confused as to what happened suddenly .

    I was back in Ohio , when I was still studying in 8th grade , unknown of what was about to happen. My nightmare broke and I was back in reality Alex hovering over me , I hugged him hard . I didn''t want him to let go , I felt as if I let him go then he will disappear.


    I didn''t want him to disappear . I looked at his face taking everything in . I wanted to confirm that the dream was over , tears fell down my eyes , and it was not a dream but a nightmare . I kissed Alex , he was real . The hell was over , I hugged him crying on his chest .


    "I am not lying please believe me ." I said sobbing


    "I believe you Kate , I know that you didn''t lie" Alex said politely , I cried more and more . After crying for I don''t know hours, I finally got tired and fell asleep , still hugging Alex . This time I didn''t return to that place which I hated so much.

    "Ouch!!!!!" which woke both Alex and Bess


    "Kate , what happened ?" Alex asked in a worried tone but was rubbing his eyes


    "Nothing , nothing much I just forgot that my foot was injured." I said , he looked angry all of a sudden and grabbed me by my wrist and made me lay down on bed , very roughly


    "Ouch ! What are you doing Alex it hurts " I said to Alex his eyes were glimmering with anger


    "Oh! It hurts does it , but how come it didn''t hurt when you put your foot down on pieces of glass with force . Why didn''t it hurt then ?" He asked harshly , tears threatened to come in my eyes .


    "It did hurt Alex , it hurt like hell but it was better than what had happened , I will take this kind of pain thousand times over that thing " I said my voice trembling

I gave directions to the driver while the rest were settling inside the cab. James sat in front while us three had to accommodate in the back. I was sitting at the end with Alex beside me and then Bess. The ride to the amusement park took 45 minutes . Throughout the journey silence remained in the car , no one can tell by looking at us that we all are friends. Many different things haunted us all.

 Chapter-21

    When we finally reached the amusement park all of them stood there speechless.


    "Your meaning of amazing and exotic is this ?" Alex said looking at the park

    "I always wanted to go to an amusement park , Thanks for bringing us here " James said excited , Bess eyed James and then sighed

Praying that I would be alright all day I took a step , I soon found that I could walk normally but I had to bear some pain , doing which I had no problem at all.


    We did many rides , we ate many things , and we went to haunted house . It had been few hours since we reached here . We still had two -Three hours more to roam around but as more step I took more painful it became to walk . Thanks to Alex who asked to take a break I was saved from collapsing . When we were enjoying our drink , James and Alex shot up suddenly and saved me and Bess from an attack that we couldn''t see till they got stopped my Alex and James. I drew Bess to me , it will be safe if all stick together. The number of attackers grew , Alex and James had a hard time fending them off . I looked around the public was in chaos . She ran so fast that I had a hard time catching up but at the crucial moment I caught up and took the full brunt of the hit so no scratches were there on either Bess or James,


    Alex couldn''t stop what was happening cause he was busy fighting others I started to lose conscious , for girl who says she is strong , I couldn''t even handle this small injury , I am seriously pathetic. At that moment when I was hit something snapped in Alex and James because they took care of every attacker in matter of seconds. However, Bess caught me as I fell.

    When we finally reached the amusement park all of them stood there speechless.

    When we were at a little distance far from them Bess suddenly yanked her hand away from me and ran towards James. I ran after her understanding that James was about to be hit from behind and she needed to stop that .And I needed to protect her when she would stop the attack on James . She ran so fast that I had a hard time catching up but at the crucial moment I caught up and took the full brunt of the hit so no scratches were there on either Bess or James,


    Alex couldn''t stop what was happening cause he was busy fighting others I started to lose conscious , for girl who says she is strong , I couldn''t even handle this small injury , I am seriously pathetic.
