《Divine Imperium - Warlord of Takamagahara》 BOOK 01 / PROLOGUE: A PAVILION IN THE GARDEN GROVES ¡°The situation is turning ever grimmer.¡± ¡°If things proceed as they are, we are going to lose more.¡± In a garden of groves, covered in haze of a misty fog, loud sounds can be heard, unbefitting of the supposed time, place and nature around. The sounds, were voices that carried solemnness and dejection, unbefitting the ethereal beauty that was of the garden surroundings. ¡°What about the others? What are their intentions?¡± ¡°Che?! Those things? It was because of their doings that we have this turn of events.¡± ¡°If we weren¡¯t having this crisis, I would have loved to turn their placed to ruins.¡± ¡°Forget those for now. We must right now focus on averting this troublesome mess!¡± More voices, angry and irritated, were carried with the subtle breezes going by. Anyone fortunate enough to be a guest in this garden may be offset by the voices. They may even wonder, why were these sounds so unruly and unbefitting. One may even wish to trace its origins to provide an opinion or two. These, unruly noises can be traced to a small, but magnificent pavilion in the heart groves. It stood, decorated in red and white, with embedded ornaments made of gold, bronze and jade. The embellishments on the exterior of this pavilion, created a most wondrous and transcendent aura. This was further accentuated with its location and positioning, as it rested on top of a small mound, on the shores of a jade green pond. Even this scenery, was accompanied by floating clouds of white mist, sparse separated and surrounding the pavilion. A most phantasmal and soothing beauty emanated from the whole of the arrangement. Again, forgoing the enrapture of the scenery, and learn of the origin of the voices, it is the inside of the pavilion that one must try to look at. However, try as we might, the inside of the pavilion was obstructed with shades lowered from the sides. Thus, the gathering inside was hidden and obscured. Only, with the light of a lamp from within the pavilion itself, offered few faint shadows to be cast on these shades. Moving inside, several figures can be seen seated in circular council. Paper lanterns were both, hung from the ceiling and left resting on the floor in an octagonal format.You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. ¡°Everyone. Please, calm down.¡± ¡°Because of last incident, the factions have decided to work independent, but in tangent. Each is to build a plan and action on their own.¡± ¡°Cooperation is to only come, after each is settled and prepared.¡± *snort* ¡°Will this resolve the infighting?¡± ¡°I doubt it!¡± ¡°But regardless, we need not care for the situation of others for now.¡± ¡°Indeed. Rather, change we must all change our focus. If we can resolve the situation with us alone, or even with our better preparedness, we will fare better in future.¡± Inside the pavilion, voices were raised once again, as emotions of those inside had started to run high. I group of voices, tried to garner calm. Another group, disdained and dissented. This was the apparent and constant inter change of dialogue in this gathering. The aura of the pavilion was turbulent and disharmonious. The last opinion, freshly brought back calm. Everyone inside seems to hold such feelings in commonality. ¡°Then¡ What are we going to do exactly?¡± ¡°We are gathered here, so that we may discuss a united solution¡¡± ¡ð ¡ð ¡ð ¡ÖFuu¡Ö Almost everyone slowly sighed. IT was for the umpteenth time that the same question had been posed. Those gathered here, seemed deeply troubled. If not for the obscurity inside, the faces of these people would certainly be scrunched with a frown or with contemplation. A new pause of silence descended in the pavilion. It lasted for a few breaths of time, before the silence was again broken. ¡°Milady. Our previous attempts. It has inevitably turned to be ineffective and even disastrous.¡± ¡°Che! Who doesn¡¯t know that!¡± ¡°I haven¡¯t finished yet!¡± A fairly young, boyish voice echoed inside the pavilion, taking everyone¡¯s attention. In the middle of his speech, a disgruntled voice interrupted him, to which the voice grunted back in return. ¡°Continue.¡± ¡°What I can consider from my perspective, the trouble maybe because we are putting in too much at once. We are ¡®fostering¡¯ competitiveness ineffectively. And this has inevitably become detrimental to our goal.¡± The explanation continued after one interruption, and upon it reaching this point, the tension of the pavilion had turned cold. A majority in the pavilion felt discontent at the statement of a past mistake. However, the voice continued, oblivious or ignoring of the tension around. ¡°I would like to suggest, we choose only one, this time around.¡± When the next string of words was dropped, the air in the pavilion shuddered slightly. ¡°Oi! Brat! What do you think your saying?¡± ¡°You want us to look weak?¡± ¡°That¡¯s right! What the hell are you talking about?!¡± ¡°Che! Stop being Senile!¡± ¡°That¡¯s what¡¡± A barrage of discontent, exploded in opposition. Some of the figures had come to feel that a line had been crossed. However, the boyish-voice was not done yet. ¡°L-I-S-T-E-N! I said, we should start, with only one. There is an important fact we seem to have forgotten.¡± The shout from the boyish voice ran through the pavilion, snuffing out the opposition grumbles temporarily. Reasoning accompanied his shout. ¡°We are not fighting a duel.¡± Again, silence falls as the boyish voice stops his words. ¡°Are you saying that we have approached this wrongly from the offset?¡± After a short pause, a delicate but clear, female voice echoed in return. ¡°Yes Milady. Last time I did not speak-out in respect as a junior, but I wished to offer this opinion here now.¡± The boyish voice, replied courteously. ¡°Then, complete your suggestion.¡± ¡°Yes Milady. I would like to suggest that this time, we choose one. Not to be a lone hero, but to be a commander.¡± Startled hubbub broke from those words. ¡°A Commander?¡± The delicate voice, asked again. ¡°Yes.¡± ¡ð ¡ð ¡ð ¡°Why?¡± ¡°To lead a faction for our cause.¡± The last line was spoken with a tint of relief. The owner of the boyish voice seemed to have the tension in his voice, recede after clarifying his suggestion. And with the suggestion presented, a flurry of discussion started. Heated gossips and discussion raged in the surroundings. However, this time, voices more surprised. Pleasantly at that. With no other discontent or suggestion brought forward, the gathering inside the pavilion had reached a decision. Faint laughter, signaling the end of the gathering, echoed out as it carried away with the wind. BOOK 01 / CHAPTER 01: BOY UNDER THE BRIGHT MOON ¡°Heeyyy! Glasses-kun! How¡¯ve you been?¡± ¡°Hey little buddy, care to help us? You see, we are a bit short of money and don¡¯t have enough buy lunch.¡± ¡°Care to help us out? How about you donate some of yours?¡± ¡°Better yet, how about you buy them for us and bring them here?¡± ¡°Hehehe. You better not think of running away. That wouldn¡¯t be smart.¡± In a shaded corner behind a building, a group of delinquent boys, huddled around a bespectacled boy. With the stereotypical, well-rehearsed, delinquent lines, the group was snickering, as they harassed the frightened boy. This was apparently lunch time in this school compound with the classes in recess. The bespectacled boy had unwittingly wandered into the zone of these delinquents who caught their ¡®victim¡¯ or ¡®piggy-bank¡¯ for the day. ¡°Ora? Not going to go?¡± One of the delinquents, with dyed-blond hair and an earring, pressed the boy. The ¡®unfortunate target¡¯ was shivering as he shook his head. He was clearly scared to point of not being able to speak, let alone walk. But he still responded to not get beat-up. This situation was normal. The typical bookworms were normally weak, physically. They spend more time with their noses in books rather than doing something outside. The bespectacled kid, fit the stereotypical description of a genuine bookworm. The unfortunate kid was shivering, and sniveling. Completely paralyzed where he stood. For him, the blond delinquent was equal to a monster. He felt rooted in spot when gazed at directly by the blond delinquent. Little more than a minutes¡¯ time pass, before the group of delinquents start becoming impatient. One of the delinquents to he side, reached out his hand out to grab the shoulder of glass-kun, to give him a ¡®motivational¡¯ push. Until¡ ¡°Igarashi San-ban-tachi. Where, oh where are you? Come-out, come-out where ever you are!¡± A voice of another boy, unexpectedly echoed a distance away from the group. It grabbed all their attention, forcing their attention to direction of the voice, coming from the opposite bend. It was a simple and unassuming call, but the situation seems to drastically change. The faces of the delinquents had a huge change. The previously grinning and even smug faces, had turn puzzled, and then horrified, as a realization of sorts dawned at them. Any third person that happened to be there, would wonder, why the delinquents would turn so mortified and even slightly pale by a simple voice. Glasses-kun however, didn¡¯t notice this change. He had only cowered more as the queasiness inside him grew even more, when he heard a new voice. It was apparently calling out to the delinquents, and gave him the impression of a delinquent friend of the group around him. In that instant, where these thoughts ran through all their minds, faint sounds of footsteps could be heard. Just as their thoughts caught up to all of it, all attention and concentration had focused towards the corner bend, opposite where they all stood gathered. A shadow of a silhouette slowly formed on the concrete grounds. The shadow growing ever longer as the sounds of footsteps came closer and became clearer. Seeing this, the delinquents couldn¡¯t help but turn even more ashen. Fear rising in them, they quickly turned and ran away. In the direction of the main building, they fled as if fleeing for their lives. They tried to run as fast they could, stumbling where their bodies failed to respond. One of them tripped and fell over a flowerbed before quickly getting up and continue running away. This time, the Glasses-kun noticed. He was gob smacked at the sight of the ¡®scary¡¯ delinquents running away. The scene let him puzzled, for just a moment. Did you know this story is from Royal Road? Read the official version for free and support the author. His faced quickly darkened. His thoughts ran again. ¡®For those delinquents to flee, Is the person showing up even worse¡¯ ¨C he despairingly thought. And just as he thought so, a hand, suddenly grabbed his shoulder. ¡°Ugyaa!¡± A pitiful scream escapes the boy should turns around, fumbles, and falls down magnificently. A comedic sight to see. Falling to the ground, glasses-kun grimaced due to the pain he felt, before he gazes up. His teary eyed and snotty face turned rosier as he noticed the new boy. A silly smile, filled with happiness and relief took over his face as he screamed. ¡°Yamato!¡± He felt at ease as he sees the boy - His savior. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? After saving Glass-kun and receiving thanks, ¡®Yamato¡¯, the boy hero left the area. His direction ¨C towards the main gate. This boy hero is named, Yamato Shigeru. A 16-year old boy and a third-year senior student. He looked more like a young man, with his tall build. He brazenly, walks out of Yokohama Midorigaoka High School, where he is a student of. It is barely past midday, so he is clearly playing truant. But he fails to gives such an impression or show any remorse. He has a clean and exemplary appearance, with his short but styled hair and neatly tucked school uniform with a blazer. With such an appearance, he walks out unconcerned and unobstructed, from the school gates. He walked out calmly and coolly, and heads straight into the neighborhood across the street. A few minutes and a short walk later, he reaches a large and spacious compound. The sign board outside read, Yokohama Country & Athletic Club. It is more commonly called, YC & AC sports complex. It was a fairly famous sports club in the area where both professionals, talents, the rich and fitness addicts came to do various trainings. Yamato walks inside very normally, as he heads straight for the lockers. And, minutes later, he has moved into the gym facilities. With the sound of the doorbell, some of those inside notice his entry. However, they quickly continue their activities, unconcerned. The fact that a student exercises inside this sports gym, during class times seemed as if it was normal. Well, that is because it is. At least, it is for Yamato being present. YC & AC is one of Yamato¡¯s regular places to hang around. He is member and regular who frequents it almost every day, barely missing 2 days in a row. Yamato comes here at any irregular time, other than the middle of the night. And the staff and regulars are used to it. Their impression of him, is quite favorable, where he is quiet most of the time, and only disturbs when he needs some instruction for his exercise or the machine. His presence is more normal than his absence. Used to his presence, the staff regular prepare things for him in advance. Today too, one of the staff brings him a bottle of water while he exercises on one of the treadmills. Yamato spends over an hour and half at the gym, before he moves to the shower for a quick wash. He then heads to the outdoor pool for a few rounds of swimming. Though he carries nothing with him, items are prepared for him at every turn and counter. All of this is pre-prepared for him, not just because he is a regular. No, he has a connection to the club. One of his uncles, is a member of the club¡¯s board. While it is typical to have the snobbish relative make trouble, Yamato has proven to be more of a loyally dedicated person, who comes only to use the space, and cause little to no trouble. His attitude when at the club is greatly appreciated by the staff. Especially when he offers to help around the club on holidays or when he is free. He not much amicable or social, but he is serious and concentrates on performing any task thoroughly. After several more hours, and more rounds across the facilities, Yamato has moved on to internet caf¨¦ zone at the complex. This is a regular stop for him during each visit. He takes time to go through the internet. At some point in the day, everyone needs to use technology for some purpose. And for Yamato, it is normally in the evening, when visitor counts go down and the club starts winding up. He sits near a computer has he logins to surf the web. After but a little while, an Oldman enters the zone as well. He walks towards and arrives at the side of Yamato¡¯s desk. He watches Yamato warmly as he stops but a short distance away. ¡°You really like coming here, don¡¯t you?¡± The Oldman, spoke warmly. His caring gaze was most obvious from his looks. Yamato gazes back at him, not with his mostly aloof look, but with slightly mild and more warm eyes. Yamato recognized the Oldman. This was one of only a few people that he felt close to. And the person in question, he was a relative uncle of his. ¡°Is it bothering you?¡± Yamato lightly asked. ¡°Hahaha. Certainly not. I appreciate your preference for the club. It¡¯s just, with skipping your classes so often, is that all right?¡± ¡°That is inconsequential. No one will care as long as no trouble is made.¡± ¡°Is that so? Very well. Try not to stay too long. I¡¯m only here to collect something, and happened to chance upon you sitting inside. I am leaving then.¡± Uncommittedly, Yamato waves off his caring uncle, who sees this and walks away, as he slightly shook his head wryly. This interaction was normal for Yamato and his uncle, as both had a slight smile on their lips. Just before stepping out of the room, the Oldman stops again as he turns around one more time. ¡°Will you be joining this year?¡± This question, brings Yamato to a stop. An awkward silence comes to the room. Ever slightly, one can see that Yamato¡¯s eyes go cloudy and he grits his teeth frustrated. This lasting only a couple of breaths of time, Yamato turns to his uncle then shakes his head. ¡°I won¡¯t say anything else unnecessary. If you need anything, do tell me.¡± Chuckling wryly, the Oldman turns and walks out. He could see the dejection in Yamato¡¯s expression, and chose to quickly retreat from the room. Inside, he berated himself for creating that moment of awkwardness. Whatever the main cause was, it seems to have drained Yamato of his mood. After blanking off for a good while, Yamato decides to close off the computer before walking out of the room himself. It was already late evening and almost turning night by the time he came out. Taking a look at his watch, it was already past 5 in the evening. Sighing, he decides to walk down the road, not in his uniform but causal clothes. One of several spares he keeps at the club. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? After half an hour of walking, Yamato reaches a woodland space with the sky turning dark. Lamps barely light up the path and the suburban surroundings. A cold night breeze blew past him; however, he has no reaction to it. Right now, he is only pre-occupied at looking up. At the sparely lit night sky and bright, full moon. Time seems frozen at this moment, with any sound or movement around. Yamato stood still, standing as he watched the skies up above. A melancholic look fills his eyes, as his face slightly scrunches. The look in his eyes, were difficult to describe. Pain? Anxiety? Grievance? Scowl? ¨C none of these words seemed to bring a proper description. After half an hour of sky gazing, Yamato drops his head as he sighs. His neck hurting from having turned stiff from his unnatural posture. With squinted eyes continued to have conflicted thoughts, he again started to walk. Next destination, home. Well¡ that was what he intended. In that very instance that he turned, the sound of a water droplet echoed resoundingly, and he paused in placed almost instantly. At this moment, a feeling unprecedented unease washed over Yamato. He could not move his arms or his legs as if they we stuck in a concrete cast. The only part he could move was his head. He raised his head up slowly. And, as he did, he noticed that around him, the lights had started to dim. It continued, until all the lights around him went dark. This caused him to grow wary, his unease growing ever more. And to his continued shock, in the night sky above, the moon had grown larger than before, as the darkness of the night started to melt down and mend around him. He was encaged by the night until a dark buddle took form. And then, like a bubble, burst into nothingness. Though a lot to describe, all of this took place in less than a single breath of time. And in that instance, Yamato Shigeru, vanishes from that place. At the spot where he last stood, a mobile phone and a slim wallet lay scattered on the ground. Here, Yamato left his last traces. Lost into obscurity. It would be sometime before people notice his disappearance and his mementos. With none being the wiser to his being. BOOK 01 / CHAPTER 02: SUMMONS Inside a grandiose and ancient hall, a small spec could be seen in the vacant center. A closer look, reveals a young man standing there. He was seemingly miniscule in size, compared to the monolith that was the hall. The first thing one would notice, is the attire of the boy. He wore a casual white tee with navy jeans and a brown jacket. This attire was slightly out of place of his glorious surroundings. Second oddity, was his posture. He looked as though he was going to walk away, but frozen at the same time. He head was raised half-way, revealing his face. Its features can be quickly recognized. This was Yamato Shigeru. He was just moments ago, in a wooded park area near his school, but has now, somehow appeared inside this hall. ¡°Release.¡± A word spoken lightly from within the vastness. And, simultaneously, a shimmer of white light, glows from Yamato. ¡°Ugh!¡± With a grunt, he falls down. His breathing was ragged, as beads of sweat formed on his brow. ¡®Where the hell?¡¯ That was the first thoughts he could assemble, before being interrupted. ¡°Child. Take a moment to calm yourself first. All will be explained to you shortly.¡± Again, a voice spoke from the vastness. This time a little louder. The voice was clear and beautiful to listen to and cause Yamato to ease his tension in reflex. But more importantly, Yamato, raised his head to look around him. He could not see, nor feel any presence around him. This caused his eyes to cloud slightly. In less than a minute, Yamato catches his breath and stands. With scrutinizing eyes, he once more casts his gaze around the hall. The hall was truly enormous. From his position, Yamato could feel as though the place was even larger than Tokyo Dome. It was also quite exquisite. With several gold, bronze and jade ornaments decorating the pillars, spread out at great distances across the floor. The elaborate decorations cold also be noticed on the far flung tall walls, and on the fringes of window frames. The elaborateness of the hall was further accentuated by the polished finish of the wooden pillars that were red in color, and the floor and walls that were almost greyish-white that had been polished to point of having reflections. And last but not least, the grand golden archways and beams that held the tall ceiling, culminated an ethereal feeling.Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Every spec of its existence, screamed that this was not a common place. The level of grandeur and detailing he could see was not something that could be man-made. Upon these observations, Yamato¡¯s thoughts roused him a sense of¡ relief. An unusual sense. Or maybe, a feeling of hopelessness or solemnness. He could not help releasing a sigh at his complicated feelings. ¡°Come here.¡± Just as he had been defeated by the grandiose-ness of the hall, the voice spoken again. Yamato had temporarily forgotten of his first confusion and emotions, until just now and was badly startled when he heard the voice. With that simple phrase, Yamato was swept from his feet, into the air and on to a raise platform level. He was brought and seated on a luxurious cushion. His reaction to being swept-off was almost mute, but he was still chocked greatly. After being seated, he had raised his head slowly and only looked forward. And this time, came his third shock. His expression drastically changes as his eyes registered what was placed infront of him. ¡°You don¡¯t have to be that surprised.¡± Was the reply he heard. Yamato¡¯s expression had turn from startled to a blank and then to a shockingly surprised one. His eyes had widened to their edges. Infront of him was two very large and bright silhouettes. Both, several hundred times his size. One large male and female figure were seated infront of him. This look was registered for only a couple of seconds, before turning dejected for instance and back to his usual calm indifference. ¡°Apologies for my rudeness. I was completely taken by surprise, even though I had an inkling of such an expectation. I greet you most humbly, Goddess Amaterasu., God Tsukuyomi.¡± Yamato spoke with well-mannered curtesy and etiquette as he gave a slight bow towards his hosts. Not excessively raising his voice, but speaking in a normal way, he showed his respect to the two beings seated infront of him. As he identified, the ones seated before him were, Goddess Amaterasu, the head of all Shinto deities and goddess of the sun, and God Tsukuyomi, god of the moon and the underworld, also one of two younger siblings of Amaterasu. These were greatest and most recognizable figures from the world of Shintoism. Apex gods for the Japanese religion. While he showed etiquette, his thoughts were processing at break-neck speeds. Yamato tried to comb his memories for a reason why and how he should have been brought here. When the curtesy was made by Yamato, the Gods had momentarily stayed quiet. The two gods, gazed down at him. ¡°You are calmer than expected. Yamato Shigeru. You should rejoice, second son and third child of the Shigeru household. For you have been found and deemed most appropriate and strung by a string of fate to meet the call of us gods of Takamagahara.¡± The first to speak this time was Tsukuyomi. He had a look of pleasant surprise as he watched Yamato as he made the announcement. Amaterasu also shared the same look as both looked at Yamato. ¡°Yamato Shigeru. I shall explain to you the reason for why you were brought here.¡± ¡°There is a reason for it?¡± Yamato replied to Amaterasu, while maintaining his expression. ¡°Yes. It is not because of anything you have done. For there has been no wrongs in your conduct. You have been called here¡ because we are in need of help, and you have been deemed for suitable to complete it.¡± When the first half was spoken, Yamato relaxed his mind that was over thinking matters. But at the second half when the pause was brought, he couldn¡¯t help looking Amaterasu directly. And with the last part, he had an incredulous look on his face. ¡°My¡ help? Forgive me for saying this, your lady and lordship, but I am but a mortal human. What could I assist the great gods with?¡± His voice spoke cracked and with a look of utmost apprehension and pleading, looked at Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi alternatively. ¡°We can only apologize for the surprise and shock you may have received. The request we have for you, is only something you, as a mortal can only do. And you were chosen, not at random.¡± Tsukuyomi spoke with a wry smile. ¡°Yamato Shigeru. I, on behalf of the gods of Takamagahara, beseech you for your aide, to help protect Earth world.¡± Amaterasu took over from Tsukuyomi as she spoke mild but dignifying. And Yamato. Had the expression of this most unprecedented shock of his life. His expression and mind were both blank with surprise. ¡°Yamato Shigeru. We called you here, to request you to protect earth. A summon to make rise a hero of unprecedented stature. You have been called here, to Tamakagahara, the realm of gods, with the ?Divine Summons? call. It is an ability we have not used for over a millennia.¡± Tsukuyomi spoke promisingly, seemingly almost trying to speak favorably of performing the task and push is significance. However, these words became a final peg for Yamato. His scrunched face, looked as if he had chewed on some insect. He finally fell backward, unconscious. His fall startled both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. His final thoughts before being cut off were ¨C ¡®What ridiculous shit have I been called here to?¡¯ BOOK 01 / CHAPTER 03: DISCUSSION & DECISION *TONK* *TONK* ¡®What a freakish nightmare¡¡¯ *TONK* *rustle* ¡®So¡ This is not a dream¡ I guess¡¯ After having collapsed, Yamato woke-up to the sounds of a shishiodoshi ringing nearby. Waking up begrudgingly and sitting upright, he finds himself in a new situation. First, he finds himself seated on a luxurious white futon that was both comfortable and had elaborate embroidery of gold and red threads. His clothes had also been changes, from his modern casual wear of shirt and jeans, to a traditional yukata for lounging. It too was exquisite, as it was soft and cool and in a deep blue color. Yamato was slightly taken aback due to noticing the change of clothing. He first inspected himself to notice that he was still wearing his underwear, before turning to look around to find his original clothes folded and left at a side near the futon. He heaved a sigh of relief, and grumbled about might have been an embarrassing situation. Relieved of his temporary worry, he moved on to observe his new surroundings. Different that the hall he was previously ¡®summoned¡¯ to, he now finds himself in an exquisite but traditional Japanese parlor. Firs thing to note, is that the room was normal in size to that of a typical, ancient Japanese style room found in old samurai homes. Not at the scale of the ginormous hall, but still bigger than a modern-day room and in a long rectangular shape. Second, was the pristine and prestigious traditional ambiance in the room. Placed far inside the room, Yamato had to his back, a clean white wall, that was partitioned into three sections. Each section had a piece of d¨¦cor hung at its center, for a total of 3. The center piece was a pair of large golden Karps. And to the sides, there were large paintings left hanged. From his position, he could not see the forms of the paintings. Opposite to the back wall, the wall to the front was also a clean white wall, but it was un partitioned. The only feature on this wall was its magnificently grand and wide double doors that was of a dark oak color. This was without doubt the entrance to the room, and its appearance and natural aura was both magnificent and noble. Moving on from the walls, to each of the long sides of the room were continuous shoji screens. Through the screens warm sunlight filtered into the room. This gave the room a very ethereal feeling. Last to note, the room had a curved-racked ceiling, made of wood. The ceiling also had a long screen center piece that also allowed the entry of sunlight. The total arrangement of the room gave it more than enough natural light that shown on the wooden floors to give it a golden hue that reflected all across the room. The entire room had a look of gold, calm and neatness that was truly profound. *Sigh* But, the room¡¯s arrangement and design only served to further increase Yamato¡¯s lament, as he heaved heavy and long sighs. Just as he felt helpless to his situation, he was suddenly spoken to. ¡°It is fortunate that you have awoken. Your collapse was a bit unexpected.¡± The same feminine voice from before spoke, and broke Yamato¡¯s train of thoughts. A small flash of light burst from near the entrance door, and goddess Amaterasu showed up. Following behind her was Tsukuyomi and 11 other figures spread to the sides. This time around, Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and 11 other individuals arrived. The other figures could be deduced to be gods and goddess from Takamagahara, the world of gods. They were all now of a normal human size, rather than the enormous size that he was greeted with before with Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi. ¡°So many have come.¡± Yamato quite abruptly blurted out. This caused some of the new arrivals to have wide eyed expressions where as both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi smiled in return. Not answering Yamato, Amaterasu approached the center of the room before seating herself down, directly opposite to Yamato. To her right, sat Tsukuyomi, and to her left, another god also seated himself. The remaining 10 figures also quickly seated in a semicircular shape. Yamato also rose from the futon and approached closer, before properly seating himself infront of Amaterasu and the other gods and goddesses in the room. ¡°I hope you are doing better now.¡± ¡°Thank you for your concern. I have slightly calmed down.¡± ¡°Is the room to your liking?¡± ¡°I would still prefer it was more normal that is. But it is better than the hall.¡± A small exchange of pleasantry and dialogue happened between Yamato and Amaterasu. This is suitably to settle down the awkwardness from the previous meeting. After having completed the small pleasantry, goddess Amaterasu returned to a serious expression. ¡°Now, from the previous meeting, I am sure you have some¡ no, many things on you mind. Please speak freely.¡± Amaterasu offered Yamato. He couldn¡¯t help but raise a brow before heaving another long sigh. To which the gods also reacted with varying expression and raised brows. ¡°First off. Why on all of Earth and Takamagahara, would you choose me? For what purpose reason and under what logic? I am just a typical mortal human, who is not of adulthood and at best in the middle of third-year high school. I am not so spiritual like the priests and shrine maidens. I actually rarely visit a shrine. To be technically ¡®abducted¡¯ at night, and then told that I have been chosen to ¡®protect earth world¡¯¡ What should I be making of this?¡±This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there. Yamato spoke in several breaths, with a pause after each of his questions. He truthfully let out his frustration at the gods. Receiving Yamato¡¯s frustration, a couple of the gods had dark expressions. Not unexpected, as a mortal human had just genuinely critisized them. However, most of the gods had a sympathetic expression. Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi also had apologetic expressions. The one to reply to Yamato was Amaterasu. ¡°First of all I express apologies on behalf of the gods of Takamagahara. As a mortal human of earth world, you have reason not be content with the situation. It is a fact that us gods have little to do or any direct relevance in the daily lives of the humans, even for those who worship us. We have offered nothing, but have called you here to make a request of you. I hope you will give me the opportunity to explain, and that you will listen to it with an open mind. The final decision will be yours.¡± Amaterasu spoke amicably and unperturbed, taking upon herself to be show as the weaker side in this discussion. This was unexpected for Yamato who slightly grimaced, feeling uncomfortable. Technically, he now looked to be bad guy bullying the other side. After a moment of hesitation, Yamato replied with a slight bow. ¡°My apologies for the outburst. I will listen through your explanation.¡± Amaterasu gave faint smile to Yamato¡¯s behavior before continuing. ¡°To explain the situation, I must first explain to you, the ¡®worlds¡¯. The ¡®worlds¡¯ are a classification for parallel worlds, that exist both in harmony to one another and also independent to one another. There are many, many parallel worlds in existence. And these worlds are segregated into various levels and definitions based on the nature and laws governing them. There are 3 classified types of worlds. They are; Origin worlds, Lower worlds and Greater worlds. The world you are from, Earth world, is an ¡®origin world¡¯. An ¡®origin world¡¯ is a world that had properly stabilized, with no imbalances and imperfections its creation and function. Such worlds normally progress in the route of science and development, like that of earth. These worlds are also often called ¡®blessed world¡¯ since the tumults in these worlds are minor and only man-made. Peace also prevails to the greater length of its existence. On the other hand, there are the ¡®lower worlds¡¯. The ¡®lower worlds¡¯ are a step lower than origin worlds and are lacking in almost every way. They are neither stable or peaceful and are mostly enraptured in bloodshed and conflict continuously. Additionally, these worlds have incomplete laws of governance and there many of its functions are unstable and sometimes disabled. ¡®Lower worlds¡¯ don¡¯t ravel down the scientific path. Because, in supplement to the instability and imbalance, the worlds are filled with other forms of ¡®energy¡¯. This can be called magic or spirit essence or alchemy and more. Such situations like these can be found more in the fictions and literature of your world. Now these worlds are also in varying formats. They can be either ¡®spherical worlds¡¯ with a flat map-like layout, or ¡®planetary worlds¡¯ with the same features of earth, but without a greater cosmos. Then we have the ¡®greater realms¡¯. These are where the ¡®gods¡¯ worlds¡¯, such as Takamagahara, and the ¡®demon world¡¯, such as Tartarus exist. These are the plains of powerful beings with relative peace, and odd conflict.¡± Speaking up to hear, Amaterasu takes a pause. It is Tsukuyomi who continues after her. ¡°Now, the worlds explained to you, have been operating since time immemorial. Each has had channels or lanes of connecting with one another. This has allowed for the ¡®greater realms¡¯ to be always aware of the existence and situation of the other worlds. That said, the worlds have existed individually with no direct collusion or collision. There has only been spiritual connections, that has led to the creation of ¡®religion¡¯ in the parallel worlds. However, change has come to the system of the worlds. The ¡®lower worlds¡¯ that were in constant tumult have had drastic changes. Some of them have turned into the 2 sided conflicts, instead of the great disorder and tumults of the past. Some of the ¡®lower worlds¡¯ have also vanished altogether, with no way to trace or connect to them. This was noticed by all the ¡®gods¡¯ worlds¡¯. Actions have been taken to find the missing worlds. And the result that we have uncovered, is both shocking and still incomplete. We found the missing worlds in a distant and separate space in the void of the worlds. In this space, the worlds had somehow started to meld and merge. There were over 50 worlds that had gone missing over a presumably long period of time, and all of them have been traced there. Due to the merger of the various worlds, the previous nature and structure of the worlds had changed, with new, complex laws taking form. Because of the phenomenon of having multiple worlds combine, we named this the ¡®realm world¡¯. We still lack any factual information regarding the form and development of this world. We have tried observing this parallel world, to find the reason for the disappearances and mergers. However, our efforts have been fruitless. Those of the ¡®greater realms¡¯ are unable to venture into the lower worlds. The same is true for the amalgamating world as well. However, those of the ¡®lower world¡¯ and the ¡®origin worlds¡¯ can travel to all the worlds, under a set of certain conditions and circumstances. When this was discovered, the ¡®gods¡¯ world¡¯ decided to send several mortals to the new world. Some, even from Earth were chosen. This was almost 4 years ago, from earth time. Those we sent into the other world were gifted with things collected through fate and Fortuna. Over 1000 beings were sent into that world to investigate the situation. They made progress in adapting into that world and within several months many had progressed a considerable amount. This progress, lead us to be hopeful of the endeavor. However, just as hopes were raised, an opposition arose. Beings called the ¡®Satires¡¯ arose in the other world, raising their own factions. They took action against those that we had sent. Most were annihilated in conflict. Others, were tempted and turned to the opposing side. The efforts to investigate were defeated ruthless and spontaneously. The only thing we gained was the knowledge that there was a force at play. Whether the name is true, or is but an alias is yet to be confirmed.¡± After speaking gravely, Tsukuyomi stopped here. The mood, among the gathered gods and goddesses had turned slightly gloomy. After a momentary pause, the other god, seated with Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi spoke-up. ¡°In the four years since, 2 more worlds have now gone and merged with the ¡®realm world¡¯. We have had no other contact with this world and do not know of their current situation. However, we have now started to notice that connections being drawn from this world to the ¡®lower worlds¡¯ and also some ¡®origin worlds¡¯. And, this is where you come into the paly of things, Yamato Shigeru. The ¡®realm world¡¯ is trying to connect to Earth world and take it in. If this happens, the earth will undergo a cataclysmic change, changing everything anything you have ever known. Many will perish during the turbulent change. And when other energies invade, science of your world may not hold out. The laws that your world has studied and accepted, would be turned on their heads. For this reason, the gods have thought to take new action. Each of the Earth¡¯s ancient mythologies and religions like us, such as the Greeks, the Chinese and the Egyptians. Each of the groups are deciding to take independent actions. As such, we, the gods of Takamagahara, have decide that, unlike the last attempt where many were scattered to the other world, this time, we would try to build a comprehensive force. A faction. For this we needed a leader. A commander.¡± Speak up to here, the god paused as he gazed directly at Yamato. All of the gods and goddesses, also directed their attention to Yamat, mounting pressure on him. ¡°The chosen individual, is you. Yamato Shigeru. You have been chosen, because you were found to be the most suitable. And frankly, you are the only options we have, from after having used the Akashi records to make a decision. The Akashi records are the compilation of known history and knowledge and is kept here is Takamagahara. It has rarely, if ever been used. If you choose not to accept our request, we would be forced to think for other solutions. For that we need time, that we are sorely lacking. It is estimated that if things proceed in the current speed, Earth world, would be dragged into the ¡®realm world¡¯ within 10 years¡¯ time. This may seem like a lot of time, more so that a ¡®lower world¡¯, but is not enough time to find another solution and act upon to prevent the merger. While the other groups are also taking action, who will succeed, is unknown. One thing that is certain, is that every action taken, increases the chances of success in preventing this merger. Earth world, is the first ¡®Origin world¡¯ under threat. If it falls, it would truly be unprecedented, and more will be put at risk. Therefore, with matters as they are, Yamato Shigeru. What will you do?¡± The god seated near Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, posed the question as he ended his explanations. The entire situation as at present has been unraveled to Yamato. The other Gods and Goddesses sat as they were, scrutinizing Yamato to see his reaction. Remarkably, Yamato had little reactions. Suring the cause of the long explanations, with the exception of the odd times when his eyes slightly widened or when his brows scrunched, he maintained a blank and emotionless face. At the end of the explanation, Yamato closed his eyes and crossed his arms. The gods were left aside helplessly as they awaited his response. A nerve racking silence fell in the room. This situation was unique, with a mortal human seating himself, ignoring the gods and goddess that are around him and waiting for his response. A situation where gods are left in wait, powerless and ruffled in anticipation. While Yamato continued to keep, his eyes closed, the gods and goddesses couldn¡¯t stay still. Some exchanged looks at one another. Their nerves were feeling strained due to the odd silence. The three gods seated directly opposite to Yamato kept a serious gaze fixed on Yamato. Amaterasu had hopeful eyes as she observed restrainedly. The two gods to her sides kept a serious and slightly perplexed look on their faces. After having said so much, they expected Yamato to step forward willingly, like a boy wishing to be a hero. A reaction most of the gods would take a novelty. A good length of time passed by as the restlessness grew. Some shifted their seating position several times as everyone felt like sitting on pins and needles. It was enough time to burn an insane stick, before Yamato slowly opened his eyes again. He raised his head to meet the gazes of the gods. ¡°How far will you go to meet this problem?¡± This was the question Yamato posed after his long period of silence. The gods were startled. An unintentional smile almost crept on most of their faces as realization dawn on them. A god seated to Yamato¡¯s left, responded. ¡°We are willing to offer any support we can to you, if you are willing to do this.¡± Yamato turned to that god. ¡°I am sorry, but you are?¡± ¡°Hahaha. Sorry for not mentioning it, I am Bishamon, the god for War and Happiness. Yamato Shigeru, if you are willing, we will arrange for anything you request as long as it is possible for us to do.¡± ¡°Is this the collective will of all of the gods of Takamagahara?¡± ¡°Indeed. All of the gods of Takamagahara are united in this decision.¡± Amaterasu responded this time. ¡°Another question. What about my life on earth?¡± ¡°For this¡ I am afraid you cannot return, at least not anytime soon. Do you have any¡¡± ¡°I see. That is fine. I have no attachments anyway. I merely wanted to confirm for formality sake.¡± To Yamato¡¯s last question, the expressions of the gods couldn¡¯t help but cramp, but were quickly bewilderingly relieved thereafter. ¡°So, can we take it that you have agreed to our request?¡± Tsukuyomi, asked once more, for confirmation from Yamato. ¡°I, Yamato Shigeru, accept the request of the gods of Takmagahara, based on the knowledge disclosed to me. And while I accept, I request for the care and support of the gods in this task.¡± Yamato gave his ascent and a formal bow. ¡°We swear an oath upon this, that all of the gods of Takamagahara, herein nominate, Yamato Shigeru, for the post of faction leader and commander to go to the ¡®realm world¡¯. We task him to build a foundation and power to contend against any adversity in the otherworld, and find the cause and a solution to the imminent crisis faced by the order of the worlds. We gods, vow that we will provide all of our support, unhindered, to make this endeavor a success.¡± ¡°¡°¡°We affirm our commitment.¡±¡±¡± Amaterasu gave the vow as all of the gods¡¯ present responded with a nodding affirmation. BOOK 01 / CHAPTER 04: WHAT ABOUT MY NEEDS? After Yamato, had agreed to the request of the gods, a small celebration was called for. The 13 gathered gods and Yamato enjoyed a small feast prepared in another parlor, a short distance away. Unlike the time when the gods appeared with a flash of light, this time they had walked alongside Yamato, through the mansion. They moved to a parlor that offered a scenic view of the Zen garden outside. It was the garden from where the sound of the shishiodoshi originated. The garden was grand and beautiful, allowing everyone to walk around and enjoy the space. Apparently, the manor was said to be a guest wing of Lovell Manor. A rest retreat of God Tsukuyomi, on mount Takamahagara, and this garden was said to be one of god Tsukuyomi¡¯s most favorite. During the course of the festivities, Yamato¡¯s expression lightly eased but still maintained a serious and noble appearance. It was complimented on by some of the goddesses. Boundaries were being broken as the gods treated Yamato closely and had many small talks about events and activities of the mundane world on earth. Contrary to his image and expression, Yamato was well aware and well versed on happenings across the world. Topics from national affairs to current world affairs to sports and even fashion. Very many unexpected comments were expressed by the gossiping gods that tickled a sense of humor from Yamato. Also during the festivities, Amaterasu introduced the 2nd god that was present with her and Tsukuyomi, that offered part of the explanations to Yamato. It was god Daikokuten. Lord of darkness and the five cereals. He was also one of the seven lucky gods and their chief representative. Yamato expressed great surprise for the image of Daikokuten did not match the figures on earth, explaining that on earth, Daikokuten was shown to have a short figure and chubby face, whereas the Daikokuten infront of him was a slender, youthful and charming person. Yamato offered salutations to Daikokuten, apologizing for not properly addressing him before. Daikokuten amicably expressed nonchalance at it, stating that it was his failure to offer an introduction. The feast carried on for a couple of hours. It only ended when Yamato expressed his bloated feeling from having over eaten. The dishes were taken away by serving spirits of the manor, while the gods continued to enjoy drinking. They were truly elated, and expressive of that feeling. God, Takemikazuchi¡¯s laughter rang aloud the room, as he drank alongside Bishamon. Things carried on for another hour, before Goddess Amaterasu called order to the gathering. Once everyone had calmed down, she called on Yamato to specify what he may need as his initial support so that they may be worked upon when Yamato returned to rest. ¡°From the expressed intention, in having me build a faction and become a commander, the first most important thing would be a headquarters or a command post.¡± ¡°Wouldn¡¯t such a thing be built overtime after you arrive there?¡± To Yamato¡¯s ¡®stating of facts¡¯ expression, god Bishamon inquired puzzled. ¡°That would in a typical ¡®other world adventure¡¯ story. However, right now, we are not thinking about an adventure, nor is this a story. This is reality, and I believe the focus of activities is confrontation and suppression. We are trying to prevent a catastrophe and fight against an opposition. Technically, it is ¡®war¡¯. Therefore, I will need a command or outpost to start from. Referencing the games from Earth, RTS is the most accurately relevant genre. In that, every player must start with a command post, initial resources and a support unit. A faction, an army, cannot function or grow without a base.¡± ¡°Forgive me for asking¡ But what is RTS?¡± At this question, raised by god Kagutsuchi, Yamato couldn¡¯t help but stumble. God Kagutsuchi is a minor god of fire and the patron for blacksmiths and potters. Yamato reasoned that he may not realize the aspects of gaming in human life. ¡°RTS is the short form of Real Time Strategy. It is a category of games us humans play on electronic devices in competition with each other. It is a medium used in alternative of having fights and scuffles.Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. As I mentioned before, this is the most applicable genre to reference in preparations for the other world.¡± ¡°Very well. Having said that you need a command post, what should it exactly have?¡± For Tsukuyomi¡¯s query, Yamato took a moment to consider. After contemplating for a minute, he continued. ¡°The main use of a command post is to act as the first portion of a base, or the bare minimum facility for army functions. These can be a number things, such as;
  1. Accommodation for central staff
  2. Basic or core defense ¨C a final line of defense
  3. Command room for handling battles
  4. Communications post
  5. Intelligence post
  6. Storage and Warehouse for Resources
  7. War room for conferences
There can be other things as well. Those mentioned are in most application to the modern concept on Earth. To discern the needs for the other otherworld, I need to know about the otherworld.¡± ¡°That is true. We do not know too much, but we have information from our last attempts. The otherworld, if summed into a simple definition, is a mess of mixes of all fantasy worlds from the literatures you can find on earth.¡± ¡°You mean?¡± ¡°As it implies. Any and all forms of fantasy elements exist in the otherworld. I am aware that you are an avid reader of fiction novels. You should be familiar with the genres like, Magic, Martial Arts, Wuxia, Xanxia and Wizardry. What you typically find in the eastern fiction literature. The ¡®realm world¡¯, which is an amalgamation of multiple different types of worlds, has a mixture of all the types of energies. That world, is diverse to the point, no one can classify it under a single category and also cannot confirm all the types of things in existence. Like in the Wuxia and Xanxia genres, there is the cultivation method for martial arts and spirits. Like in the Wizardry genre, there are classes of magic of various elements. And then there is general Fantasy category, introducing beings other than just humans. Elves, Dwarfs, Monsters, Demons, Beast-men and Half-breeds exist in that world. On a whole, the entirety of that world was in age that you on earth would call Medieval. That said, there are technologically advanced pockets scattered about. These have either alchemy or scientists at their back, with unusual invention not in line with regular paths of research that can be found on Earth.¡± Coming to last portion of his explanation, Tsukuyomi had a wry smile, looking melancholic. He looked as if he remembered something bad. But Yamato chose to ignore his expression, continuing his own thoughts. ¡°To such a mess, cast into the medieval ages, I think that a castle, maybe the best option to go for as a layout. As for the scale¡ the important elements and factors would be;
  1. Natural camouflage, as a hidden base is most necessary for a stable and proper build-up.
  2. There should be sufficient space so that things built inside would not be congested or have a risk of fire being spread.
  3. Partitioned areas, with at least 3 segmentations for defense.
  4. A pentagon or octagon format will be ideal. It can also not be uniform and more mismatched
  5. The design must be adaptable to rugged terrain. It is preferable if a castle is built on mountains and hills as it boosts the defensive ability.
These 5 are factors that should be focused on.¡± ¡°These¡ conditions that you have mentioned, it may be too difficult to meet the requirements. Because, we would not know where you will arrive, once transferred to the new world. If we made a construct for a mountainous region, and you end up somewhere with great plains, it would be useless.¡± After a moment of consideration, Bishamon, spoke after Yamato. And to his words, Yamato couldn¡¯t help but scrunch his brows. ¡°I may have a solution to that. Could you leave the affair of the base to me?¡± Just as the odd moment a silence fell, ¨kuninushi, spoke. His words garnered the attention of everyone there. ¡°How certain can you be with getting a solution to the problem?¡± Tsukuyomi asked. ¡°I have a fairly good idea on how to achieve the requirements.¡± After moment of scrutinizing ¨kuninushi, Tsukuyomi gave his nodding accent. ¡°Then, what else would you need?¡± Amaterasu continue the discussion. ¡°Next important item would be resources. To define that, it would be resources for nation-building. From the games on earth, resources can be identified as metals, gems and gold, food, lumber, stone and most recently, oil. These are general descriptions. As we are talking about a real, alternate world, more things should be considered, such as water. A sizeable quantity of resources for the initial phase of building, and their appropriate means to process and utilize would be required. The means can be classified into, long term storage facilities, processing facilities and a market. The last element maybe unexpected, but it will be most crucial. From the games on earth, a market is a place to get resources one maybe lacking and cannot attain easily. As such, when going to another world with no foundation or connection, I will need a method to getting resource support among several other things. Without it, this endeavor may end prematurely.¡± ¡°Another difficult dilemma. But¡ Daikokuten, would you have a solution to that?¡± ¡°I believe I have an idea in how we could achieve a workable solution.¡± ¡°That will be good. Please work on that. Any other requirements? Please do list them all out.¡± After discussion between Amaterasu and Daikokuten, Yamato continued, on Amaterasu¡¯s behest. ¡°The next thing I will need is supportive units or forces. I don¡¯t know how or what you can provide, but I will need extra hands and boots on the ground to help me. We will need to build many things to fit the needs and requirements, resources must be searched and collected, many items will need maintenance overtime, transportation is also going to pose challenges and not least basic defense. A base cannot defend itself after all. The next thing I need is¡¡± Yamato continued to list and explain 8 more items that he explained that he needs. At the end a question and answer session was held for the gods to clarify more details about what Yamato needed. By the end of the session, the gods greatly complimented and praised Yamato for his insightful thinking, expressing the feel of great fortune in having selected him for the task. Just as things were about to be brought to a close, Yamato posed a light question. ¡°So, with the factional needs out of the way, what about the blessing and gifts for me?¡± ¡ð ¡ð ¡ð ¡°Eh?!¡± A bomb-like question was dropped by Yamato. To the gods of Takamagahara gathered in this space, the question came unexpected. Their dubious expressions made Yamato frown. ¡°You don¡¯t really expect me to go with nothing, do you? You did say it was a mess of a world, where my common sense of many things would be useless if not nonexistent?¡± Yamato scowled at their reactions. He spoke dissatisfied as he exchanged sharp glances at both Amaterasu and Tsukuyomi, both having expressions of utmost baffled surprise. BOOK 01 / CHAPTER 05: GREY & BLACK, ROLLING OVER THE HORIZONS { Situation 01 | POV of Character A } Within the center of a large, bustling port town, lies a large manor. It is grand in scale and has well maintained gardens all around. It is in a room inside this manor, that a certain conversation is happening. ¡°I cannot understand why they don¡¯t see it. Every sign of it is already there.¡± ¡°Well¡ they are idiots. Just take it as that. It¡¯s not like you did not know their characters beforehand.¡± ¡°But this is different. Honestly¡¡± Grumbling to my only guy friend, who is crude with words but smarter than most others around me, won¡¯t help change anything. This is a guy who can only do things with his hands. A guy I normally should not be able to meet or have a conversation with. His name is Roland, better called Ro, and is close of age to me. He is also an adventurer with decent skill. If not for ¡®that¡¯ incident from a long time ago, we would not have met, and would not be here now. While, he can¡¯t help my situation directly, he is helpful for me in understand g and figuring out what I want and need. A useful guy, who is very crude, but also kind. Leaving him aside, the disease that is rotting away our lives¡ I wonder, when would they start to care. The plentiful idiots around are like the walking dead. Living a life with closed eyes and choosing what to see and what not to see. Truly, a basket of fools and goons. ¡°Miss, it is un lady like to continue to grumble and sigh. Your happiness will only get further away from you.¡± The person to berate me is my maid. She is my closest confidant and only ally that is always around me. ¡°A-mou¡ Happiness is already far, far away¡¡± ¡°Don¡¯t slam your head on the desk. That too is un-lady like. If they see you like this, they would only ridicule you.¡± ¡°You mean ridicule me more? They already call me a ¡®nutcase¡¯ after all.¡± ¡°Maa¡ Leave that aside for now. Why don¡¯t we enjoy some snacks? We can relax a bit. After you clear your head, we can think about doing more.¡± ¡°Fine. Silvia, please bring some over for me and Ro. We will eat while enjoying the dull view outside.¡± To my words, Ro smile wryly as he takes a seat and looks out of the windows. Outside, you can see the gardens of the manor and its surrounding fences. Beyond that is a busy street filled with stalls and people. However, instead of happily trading and enjoying the day, they are all closing shop, looking to head home. This would not be unusual, if it weren¡¯t for the fact that it was still midday. Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. The reason why they are all rushing to close is the looming clouds over the horizon. ¡°It¡¯s going to rain huh!¡± Ro very bluntly stated the fact. As we stay seated at the table, Silvia arranges the tea and snacks. Furtle tea and Macaroons are a delicacy of this town. As we sip our tea, the clouds cover over the town. And not to long after, heavy rain and thunder blanket it. By now all of the roads would have been deserted. The outside looks eerily dark and gloomy. ¡°Aa-ah! It is really pouring down isn¡¯t it?¡± ¡°This feels ominous¡± Ro and Silvia muter their own small complaints. ¡°The future that awaits us¡ Will be just as discomforting¡¡± I express my forlorn words, looking blankly at the darkness outside, as my company fall silent. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? { Situation 02 | POV of Character B } ¡°Bart, where is Costa and Mirza?¡± ¡°They have gone to the Guild and Hildart, Sir. Both went to the urgent meetings taking place today.¡± ¡°What meetings? Why was I not informed?¡± After entering my office, I asked my aide, slash butler, cum caretaker. I was momentarily annoyed for not being informed of any of the meetings and having my aides go in my stead. I like working, and enjoy gatherings even more. I get to flaunt myself infront of the bugs and roaches, and see their gleiing envy and hatred. It¡¯s not because I am evil or sick, I just like showing-off my ¡®greater¡¯ self. Therefore, I am very angry and not being told about the meetings. I sit down grumbling and stare daggers at Bart. ¡°Sir, you had only just returned from the expedition late last night, so they could not inform you.¡± ¡°Are they important meetings?¡± I asked skeptically, since Costa and Mirza, thought to go ahead to the meeting without discussing anything with me. ¡°Both of the meetings, are regarding the Caspian Conflicts of the South and Dungeon Catastrophe of Homer.¡± ¡°Gah! Those are important! I heard about them during my expedition as well.¡± I chocked on the juice I was drinking, when I was told of the ¡®topics¡¯. I am sure Bart timed it. I spilled the juice all over my self, the desk and the floor. I can feel a glare from another butler on side who approaches to clean the area. Trying not to think of the Ambrosida like glare from that butler, I continued to speak with Bart. ¡°The Caspian War is extending far wider than previously thought and there seems to be more ¡®damage¡¯ than first expected. As for the Homer dungeon incident, many rumors are afloat regarding discoveries and such. Bart, bring me whatever reports we have.¡± Wiping away the dripping juice after chocking, I take a moment to contemplate and consider. Both of these matters are ¡®interesting¡¯ in my point of view. ¡°What are Costa and Mirza¡¯s view on these matters?¡± ¡°As just a humble butler serving master, I am not informed of their opinions.¡± ¡°Pu~ Stop with the fa?ade. Even dolls have ears.¡± I scoffed at Bart, trying to walk away from the office. ¡°Well master, what would you do if you were to participate in the meetings?¡± ¡°Isn¡¯t it obvious. I want a piece of anything they are planning.¡± I grinned at Bart, who sighs in return. I feel annoyed at his ¡®fed-up¡¯ reaction. ¡°That is only you master. Please stop trying to give us more ¡®trouble¡¯. Costa and Mirza, only went for formalities sake. They do not intend to nominate us to take part.¡± ¡°What ¡®trouble¡¯? It is called a gamble! It¡¯s all about risk and return. You don¡¯t earn by being safe.¡± ¡°Doing B-rank dungeon exploration, fighting proxies and trading with ¡®those things¡¯, is not called a gamble! Its suicide!!¡± ¡°High-risk, High-rewards.¡± ¡°Incompetence and lunacy.¡± ¡°What did you say?¡± ¡°Nothing, master. Since, I have answered your query, I will take my leave. I have to deal with the ¡®mundane¡¯ affairs still.¡± After having me flare-up, Bart excuses himself and exits the office. The charade we have between us is completely normal. If it were anyone else, even Costa and Mirza, they would have their heads loped-off, but if it Bart, its fine. I lean back on my chair as my thoughts wonder. How much more retarded is the world going to get. As much as the others, even I feel tired because of all these messes. I just take it in better, with stride and determination. Just moping around won¡¯t help. Action for solutions, that has been my motto, always. But continuing to consider the ramifications of the affairs in the region, I start to feel a slight headache, so I stopped thinking anymore. There was paperwork left on my desk, for the non-mundane affairs such as new projects for approval. I go through them, to divert my attention. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? People even at far distances, worry about their future and work to solve their problems in one or another. Each one takes a conscious step forward and several unconscious steps backwards. Fearing the unknown is but normal. It takes a daredevil or risk-taker, to venture into the fog or darkness blindly. Unknown to everyone in this world, that is suffering under much instability, is that more chaos is to ensue further. For new elements will raise and descend. In future long to come, the coming days will be heralded as the ¡®worst¡¯ of all the ages. Historians will weep whilst reading or writing the records of the times to come. Whether in happiness or sorrow, that is yet to be understood. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? *Droooom* In an arid and vacant canyon top, a flash of light explodes. In its wake, a single silhouette can be seen, wrapped in a dark poncho coat. It felt out of place for this desolate scape, with the sun having risen to high noon and sharp winds blowing through the valley. ¡°That was so anti-climactic.¡± *Swoosh* - sound of harsh winds. ¡°So this is the otherworld? ¡®Realm¡¯ was it? Heh¡¡± A young voice can be heard. It was tainted with faint surprise and mockery. After looking around and even down to the canyon floor, the figure quickly vanishes from that spot. A sea of dust clouds blow over the canyon edge, over the spot where the figure once stood. They float over the edge and down, on to the canyon floor below.
