《The one above all》 Prologue Somewhere in Marsa... I wake up after what seems to be centuries. I feel sluggish, like after drinking so much. The weirdest part, it seems that I can''t move or in fact, see anything, just complete darkness. But how is this even possible, I think to myself. I died on my bed, with my wife and children surrounding me. I was a King, an Emperor in fact, since; and I am proud to say, that I ruled an entire Continent, the Continent of Marsa. But back on track here, where... am I exactly? I try to move as fiercely as possible, maybe I''ll be able to get out of one situation, but it was to no avail. Tssskkk... Fine, I was hoping to get out of this without having to use my powers but it seems I won''t be getting anywhere in that situation. I activate my "Emperor''s Command", which allows me to control every living thing in a 2 mile radius. Yes I know, OP right? Well, what more do you expect from someone who mostly alone combined an entire continent the size of Earth''s Land mass altogether. Of course I''m not immortal either, I''m like any other human being, I can die from an arrow in the right spot or blast from a Fire Ball, I just have one power that makes me different from the others. Back to the situation, Of course I didn''t control everything, just a couple, what seems to be wild dogs in the area. I command them to release me from my current situation, and sure enough they gather to my area in a blink of an eye. Although I can''t see, I am able to somewhat check my surroundings from the wild dogs point of view. They gather to my area which is just a plain field in what seems to be surrounded by trees all around. Wait...What? Where the hell am I exactly? Don''t tell me I''m under...fucking ground. I swear on...tchh whatever, what more do you expect from a person whose suppose to be dead. Well I should wait, it''ll probably take them a while to reach me anyways. After a while..."Ruff, RuffRuffRuff!!!" Its time, I think to myself. Although I still can''t move, I can feel that the ''pressure'' around me has lessened. I Commanded the dogs to free me so they should still be under effect, but they''re close to doing so. A couple seconds later, a light shines through to what seems to be a crack on a wooden cover of sorts. All my senses have been extremely dulled where I''m literally relying on my powers to function as a somewhat normal being, so I can''t really hear, feel, smell and taste for that matter. Slowly the light increases, and soon enough a bunch of Wild dogs stare at me in the face with drool coming out of there mouths and landing on my face and neck. Oh god, why is everything going from bad to worse? But with the light giving me somewhat of a relief, I come to the conclusion of where I am. I''m in a wooden coffin...wait wooden coffin? I''m a fucking Emperor! Shouldn''t I be in a Coffin made of Gold and Diamonds? I also figure out why I couldn''t move, it seems my whole body was wrapped in "Dulling string", where it dulls and if left in contact for a long time, can extremely affect someone''s senses. Something used by Assassins and such. That''s probably why I was feeling sluggish. The dogs bite the strings off and I try standing up, but immediately fall down. Ok, take it easy Vale, Slow and easy. I really want to get out of here, so I immediately command my senses to come back, Wish I could of done it before but the string was also affecting my Powers to a certain degree. I was able to command the dogs since they use up less of my power but commanding myself, would require much more. As I slowly walk out of the huge hole in the ground they made, my senses slowly come back and something catches my surprise. I''m YOUNG AGAIN!!? Ok, someone''s got a whole lot of explaining to do! I can''t believe it! My old Black hair is back! Oh how much I missed my black hair. I regained my prime height of 6''3, which is pretty tall in my Empire and I also gain back my average physique as well. Believe it or not, I was also a pretty good looking guy. Of course out of everything, the most likely to catch attention would be my Golden eyes which symbolize Royalty. I should probably change them to black for now since I don''t really know my situation, or how long I''ve been asleep.Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. After getting over my sudden young reappearance, I finally come back to what I should really be worried about, having an idea of where I am. The sun in the sky is young, which means I have a whole day in front of me. I start walking towards the tree line that I felt, during my ''Emperor''s Command'', had a much larger amount of power condensed in that area than any other, which means some sort of civilization exists. "Ohh, I should probably release the dogs before I head anywhere. Wait...their wild dogs so I should probably kill them instead or else they''ll attack me as soon as I release them. Emperor''s Command! Kill Yourselves!" I say, loud enough for the dogs to hear. Soon after, the dogs start sprinting towards the treeline. Ohh I love giving broad commands because the random possibilities excite M-CRACK! I stay their speechless. To think that they would run at a tree full speed, and kill themselves by cracking their necks. " Hahaha, That''s a first." I laugh to myself while muttering those words. I start walking towards the treelines thinking of my next moves, "First, gather Information about what year and area I''m in, then I should probably head towards my Capital, wait no, low profile first. I guess earn money, since I didn''t die with money on me. Then I should probably go to an all you can eat inn and stuff myself to the max! Ohh how much I love food. Then I should-----
Town of Winslow, Country of Trianta While sitting in my seat, and giving the all-famous Death stare at the students, they all stay still and calm soon after. "Ha, works every time." I mutter to myself. I work at the only school this town has, ever since I was kicked from the Royal Palace. "A defective product they called me, Unbelievable." I think to myself. So what, I''m a little interested in Dark Necromancy, it''s not like I''m gonna try it. "Mr. Serin, are we still learning about the War? Its super boring!" One of the students say across the room, breaking me from my thoughts. "Of Course Janice, it''s essential for all of us t-." I stop mid sentence. I suddenly feel a strong, I mean extremely strong, probably stronger than anyone in the Royal Army''s Presence. The white hairs on my body stand up straight, and my eyes widen over this sudden surge of power. A couple seconds later, the power disappears without a trace. The students can''t feel it since they all can''t use magic, but those who can, will be in for a wild tale to tell. "Who on Irena has their power strong enough to make their presence, seem like the end of the world?" I say to myself while shuddering over the thought. Sorry for the short Prologue, it is a prologue after all, but I just want some opinions on the first chap. The next chapter will be longer, Promise!) Chapter 1- A trip to the past EmpireofMarsa, 537Yearsago- In a secret room, an old wooden round table lies in the center. 13 people sit in chairs surrounding it. Although most of these people are old, the one who leads them all is relatively young. "He is dangerous!" says one of the old men sitting at the table. "Watch your mouth Lidian, this is Emperor Vale were talking about." Says another. "But just imagine! What if he were to turn rouge? This would spell doom for the entire Empire!" Lidian shouts as he gets up from his chair for dramatic effect. "And that''s what were here to discuss Mr.Lidian, so if you would please sit back down, it would save others their precious time." Says the one who seems to lead them. "Ahh...yes..I''m sorry Princess." Lidian immediately apologizes and sits back down. The princess stands up from her chair and says, "So...as you all know, my father is a very dangerous man. His powers exceed the normal boundaries and if used against us, can bring down our empire in a matter of days. Although he is my father, and I do love him, mother told me to never trust him. At the time, I didn''t know what she meant but after that, she never dared to say it again, but it had caused me extreme worries. So I ask all of you today, our secret council, what our plan of action is against my father, Emperor Vale." After her speech, Princess Lia sits back down. One could tell from first glance how beautiful she is. With her long black hair and Golden eyes, some men''s lust would break out the moment they laid eyes on her. "I have one question before we begin with the plans, but why would you think that Emperor Vale would turn against his own founded Empire?" Says the only other young person in the room. "This is because of what my mother told me, before she completely shut herself of the matter. She told me she had found a book hidden underneath a loose marble plate on the floor of the royal bedroom. Although she couldn''t open it, she managed to read the title. The title said, ''Emperor Vale vs. My Empire''. What do you think that means General Borus?" "Th-That isn''t enough evidence to assume he would go..go against his own Empire!" Borus shouts. If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. "No, it is. Those are his plans to destroy his own Empire before he dies! Although we don''t know the reasons why, he is strong and I''ll be the one to shove an arrow down his throat!" Shouts Princess Lia with a distorted smile and sinister face. - -- 3 years later Underneath the Royal palace, lies a basement that not many know of. Although it isn''t big, and is only a simple room the size of a Modern house Living room, inside, many dangerous experiments occur. Two figures stand there with shrouded hoods keeping their identities hidden."To think sis had hidden such a place away." mutters one of the shrouded figures. "I-I have finished the product as requested from the Princess, but if I may ask, what will you be doing with such a dangerous thing?" asks the other, who pulls his hood down revealing an old man with bags under his eyes showing he''s had almost no rest. "That''s none of your business old man. Although I should kill you on the spot to ensure this product remains confidential, the princess asks to reward you and set you free for all your hard work. So take the damn bag and scram." Says the other shrouded figure. He throws a fist-sized leather bag on the floor next to the old man and walks away. - --Later that day In the Royal Dining Hall, sits 5 people in a large Well-kept wooden table. "So father, ho-how do you like my food? I know I just started but I promise I''ll get better!" Says the princess of the Emperor, Lia. - ---Emperor Vale POV Holy shit, this thing tastes like trash! I knew she wasn''t a great cook but man, this tops the cake of the worst things I''ve ever eaten. But I can''t tell my lovely daughter that. "It tastes fine honey, just make sure you practice every day okay?" I say with a raspy voice due to my age. "Dear, let''s go to bed early tonight okay? We''ve got the Royal tournament to attend to tomorrow." Says my beautiful Wife Amber. "Yeah dad, sorry, me and Moran have practice early tomorrow Morning, so we better get going." Says the Prince Lusian. "We do?" Moran says with a face of confusion. "Yeah, so let''s go." Lusian says while pulling Moran out from his seat and walk out of the hall. Okay, yeah I was feeling sick all day anyways, some sleep wouldn''t hurt. Emperor Vale thinks while getting up from his seat. Little did he know, that would be the final day he would live as a healthy man. Days would come after with the Emperor in bed, unable to move due to his illness. His final day would be with his family surrounding him while at death''s door. - ---After Emperor Vale''s death "Finally! I thought he would never die!" Shouts the princess. "Shhhh, the guards are still outside, keep your voice down." The Empress Whispers. After the princess silently nods, the Empress begins to whisper" It is time my daughter, we will dispose of his corpse off to the west in a random forest so that no man shall ever find him. Also Lusian, find and alter a corpse to make it seem like the Emperor for the Royal Funeral. We wouldn''t want people to start asking questions now." The Empress whispers lowly to her children with a sinister smile. Chapter 2- The first encounter ---OutskirtsofTownWinslow, Country ofTrianta
Inside a rich forest with green trees that seem to touch the sky, and silence everlasting, a certain man walks through its tough terrain. Because of the nature of the large trees, the roots are exposed to the surface and are so large they would be equivalent to the height of a 3 year old child, creating landscape no normal man could walk through. But even so, the man walks through it like cruising along a beach. This man of course is ex-emperor Vale, or because of certain circumstances, just Vale Lander. Wearing just a plain white shirt, old leather leggings and worn out leather boots, seeming to break apart at any moment, no one would think this man was an Emperor let alone a Noble of the lowest class. As Vale continues to walk through the forest, all the animals and dog-like monsters run away from his path, sensing the extraordinary power within him. Vale pays no attention to his surroundings, and simply walks forward, to busy to cope with such a task. If one were to pay attention, you would see how truly odd this forest was. Some grass spots were burnt to crisps, the wild animals like deer and foxes were always on the run, never stopping until they were hidden from sight and trees that seem to move. Unknown to Vale, this forest was famous for its deadly trees and maze-like structure. While Vale was thinking about his future plans, a dim red light can be seen in the distance. Although something like this might creep others to their wits, since they are in a forest with monsters running about, Vale breaks from his concentration and looks to, knowing the source of light comes from a lantern, thanks to his unnaturally high vision. "Wow, that was easier than I thought. I felt like I would walk around in circles because of this damn forest." Vale said as he sighed. Finally reaching the end of the forest, Vale was able to see the lantern attached to a wall previously hidden by vines and leaves. This wall measured up to 30 feet in height, pretty high for a small town. One could also see how strongly built such a wall was made only by Wooden logs. "This must be it." said Vale as he walked around the Wooden Walls searching for the entrance. Winslow Guard POV---
Man, nothing ever happens in this town. Don''t even know why we have to guard this entrance. Not like anyone''s gonna walk through that damn forest, I thought. While I was standing at the left side of the entrance, I looked at the pitiful guard sleeping on the job.If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. "Hey idiot, get up before the Captain catches you sleeping again." I said as I slapped the other guard in the face as hard as I can. "Hey! That hurt like hell! Can''t you hold back a bit?" The other guard shouted with a red cheek while slowly getting up from his nap. "Shut up, last time you slept I also got in trouble and had my pay decreased for a month. So get up before I slap you even harder, or better yet, the captain will probably do it for me." I said while smiling at the thought. With Wade getting up, I walk back to my original position only to find a man with black hair who looked like he went through hell standing there with a smile. "Wh-Who are you? What''s your business here?" I say while putting myself to defensive position as I grab my spear on my back. Thank Irena, I was able to say my lines perfectly after my frustrating training during the communications course. With my sudden reaction, Wade quickly gets up and joins me. "Haha, Sorry about that, I was only waiting til after your conversation for me to speak up, but your actions made me want to see more." The man says while having a good laugh. "Tha-that doesn''t answer my question! Who are you and what''s your business here?" I quickly shout back. "The names Yan, and I only want entry." the man says with a serious face. ''Yan? What type of stupid name is that.'' I thought to myself. As I lower my defensive position, I respond back."The entry fees 2 Copper coins, but I''ll make it 3 for scaring me!" After my sudden declaration, the man looks at me with a confused face while tilting his head. "Getting---city costs--" he whispers. "What was that?" I respond. After a couple seconds and what seems to me like I said the most confusing line in history, the man finally looks back at me with a serious face. All of a sudden his eyes start to glow a golden color like the sun was hidden within them. ''Huh? What was I doing again?'' I thought to myself while looking at the forest in front of me. Monster King Treant POV, 30 minutes earlier ---
''Ha. I knew it was a good idea to let those mercenaries live.'' I thought while chewing the dog in my mouth. Who would have thought such a small incident would make warriors think twice about crossing my forest. I look down at my bark that''s harder than steel while finally swallowing the rest of the wild dog. "Well, time to stand still and catch some more prey." I say while finally getting back to position. While waiting, I start to think to myself. ''My species rule these forests and I, the Treant King rule them all! I think it''s time we finally move beyond our borders and invade the town. Yes, yes then I''ll be able to eat as much raw meat as I want! Those damn mercenaries aren''t as strong as I, a Ranked C monster, am.'' Suddenly, an unknown presence enters my range of vision. One look and I could tell. This isn''t someone I should mess with! My warning signals go off like crazy as the unknown man walks towards me. ''Oh, please...please please please don''t tell me he noticed me.'' I think to myself as the man is finally 3 feet away from me. While I''m sweating like bullets(not really, he''s a tree, so it''s just to emphasize how he feels), and thinking this is the end of my unfulfilled life, the unknown man simply keeps walking forward until I can''t sense his presence anymore. ''Nope, I''m going to stay right here where I am if that monster is heading over there.'' I think while taking back my earlier plans. Chapter 3- New Information Town of Winslow, Country of Trianta After commanding the guards to lose their memories ever since my arrival, I made my way inside the wooden 10 foot long, 10 foot wide door. Luckily I was able to close the door before the guards took notice. ''Damn, hurts my head every time I use it. It''s been getting worse over the years but I think its a good handicap to my ability. If I were to go insane again....I.....I couldn''t....I.....I can''t.'' Inervouslythink while I sneak my way through the smallsquadron of soldiers covering the other side of the door like a post a good distance away. ''It''s like they don''t want people coming through this door? Or maybe something?'' I ponder. Finally making my way past all the guards I''m met with a huge plazawith a giant stone fountain in the middle which had no water running through it. This plazais probably the center of the town, and as such you would expect many people selling, buying or just wandering around. To my surprise, there weren''t many at all. A plaza of this size would fit a couple hundred people but I can only estimate around 60 or 70 and most are women. '' Wait. Is this because....yes....yes that''s the only explanation I can think of. It''s most likely because of war. The guards giving entrance fees and the low amounts of men roaming the streets. This was how most town and cities were during my Uprising. Many advances in agriculture were sadly halted during the long 15 year war.'' At a glance one could read the sad and gloomy atmosphere of the plaza, and probably the town as well. No person wore clean clothes and the food and materials the merchants were selling were either of low quality or broken. No man or woman was smiling and instead had sorrowful looks on their faces. As I continued to glance through the plaza, a tall black-haired man wearing worn out and dulledsteel armor walked towards the center near the fountain with 6 subordinates behind him. The worn out armor is a giveaway that he must have been in many battles, and as such must be very experienced in the art of war. 3 of his subordinates carrying a small wooden crate placed it in front of him and then stood behind him with the others. He then stood on the crate, becoming a center of attention to the people as if he weren''t before. " My dear fellow commoners, I am Rin, a captain of the Triantian Army. Me and my fellow subordinates have come all the way here from the War-ridden borders to give you news of our current status in the war. Many other captains have done the same with the other towns and cities, so please, do not be alarmed. Unfortunately, the Great War isn''t going so well for our proud country. We have lost many of the few men we had to protect our borders which keep you safe during this time of war." RIn shouts with a sad and gloomy tone. "But we have come here today, having our final recruitment of proud Triantian men willing to serve for their country. I know many of you would rather stay here with your wives and children, but I ask of you to think about their futures. Our borders will break down and the enemy forces will invade your poorly defended towns. Your Wives will be raped and your children sold to slavery. Do not let them and instead fight! Fight until your very last breath and be proud to servea country as great as ours! Your children and wives will think of you as a hero, and this country will think of you all as heroes." In the crowd that has formed in front of Rin, an old women steps up from the rest and begins to speak to him with a croaky voice. " Young man. What more do you expect from such a small town as ourselves? Most of our men have already been taken during the previous recruitments leaving only the ones deemed to skinny or unhealthy. My...My grandson....he....he was recruited...but....never returned." The old woman began to cry after her last sentence. 2 woman, most likely her granddaughtersthen came to comfort her and brought her back to the croud. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. "I...I''m sorry. I''m sure he died an honorable death and was proud to have served protecting his family." Rin said with asad voice. "But if any are interested, please come to us at the Cavern Inn before Sunrise tomorrow. You will not be forced and of course, if we happened to get out of this war alive, all commoners such as myself, will be given the chance to become a noble and have an audience with the King of Trianta." Rin then got off from the crate and began to walk away with 3 subordinates while the other 3 retrieved the crate. The crowd then despersed with almost half of them crying while the other half had the same gloomy faces as before. ''Poor old woman. To have lost her grandson in the war. If worse comes to worst, I''lll have to join the war myself.'' I thought. ''But back on track, I really need information if I want to get a grasp on things.'' I thought while glancing around looking for people nearest to me. A couple feet behind me were the 2 previous woman from before. I ran up to them before they walked any further. "Hello, excuse me, but I''m looking for a library if this town has one?" The black-haired woman who was the taller of the two turned around first. "No, we don''t have a library in this town but we do have Sarah at her shop. She loves books and can pretty much memorize them. Its west of the plaza, named ''Sarah and Goods'', around there." She points towards the onlyset of shopsthere. "Can''t miss it." she says. "Okay, thanks for the help." I then turned around andbegin to walk west towards the direction she pointed to. "Umm...excuse me Mr." I turn back aroundto see the smaller black-haired girl, probably around 13-15 nervously looking at me. "If...If your going to the War, can..can you bring my brother back? His names Victor and has blonde hair and green eyes and is around your height and...and...I...I just know he''s alive. Please, Please Mr.? I know it sounds much but he''s the only brother I have." the girl says while holding back her tears. "Of course, if I ever meet him, I''ll surely bring him back to you." I say with a nice smile. The girl then blushes but quickly hides it behind her hands. "Tha..thank you!" She says before running off to her sister.
After about 3 minutes of wandering and looking at shops, I finally arrive at theplace the woman told me about. Just like the all the other shops and buildings, the wood that makes up its exterior is worn out and seems to be on the verge of breaking. The small windows seem cloudy andare very hard to see through.Except, this shop has a more reddish color to it than the normal brown. I then walk into the small shop to see a beautiful blonde-haired woman reading on a chair behind the small counter. Looking around the shop, you can see many kinds of items, from wooden buckets and dolls, to Swords and books on the walls. Of course, all these items aren''t very appealing and have the same look as all the other items from the plaza. "Excuse me Miss, but do you have any books on the Marsa Continent? Specifically it''s history?" I say with a nice smile hoping to impress such a beautiful woman. "......" The woman doesn''t pay attention and continues to read her book. "Ahh, Hello?.......Hello? Are you awake?" I say while waving my hands in front of her book and face with a confused face. '' Maybe she''s a doll?!'' I think in admiration. After about a minute of complete silence, I touched her shoulder as the final test to my theory. From my sudden touch, she jumps back on her chair and falls back with her book on her face. "Ohh, I''m so sorry. I didn''t realize I had a customer." She said as she got up and dusted herself off. " It''s alright, It should be me apoligizing for scaring such a beautiful woman." I say with the same smile from before. "So what''cha need?". "Names Sarah by the way, but you already know that." she says with an angelic giggle at the end of her sentence. ''Woah, she might be better than me.'' I think to myself. "Just wondering if you had any books on the history of theMarsa Continent?" "Marsa Continent? You mean the Old Marsa Continent right? When Emperor Vale still reigned?" "......" "Di...did I say something wrong?" she says with a worried expression. " What do you mean....Old Marsa Empire?" I say emphasizing''old''with a stone cold smile. "We...Well, after Emperor Vale''s death, the Continent was divided into 5 Nations due to the Royal family''s reckless decisions." ".....I see." I then began to walk out the door with a cold face and a not so well hidden angered fist. "Whe...Where are you going....now?" Sarah says with half her head behind the counter. I turn around with my cold face and quickly give her the same nice smile from before, except one could tell it was fake. " I''m joining the war." I say before finally leaving the shop. Chapter 4- 72nd Platoon- Unranked Soldier Falinn Town of Winslow, Country of Trianta Before heading over to the Cavern Inn where Captain Rin told any to go if they were interested, I decided to payvisit to the family of Victor. ''I never got their names now that I think about it''. ''Then again, I never told them mine either. ......Yan? Is Yan a good name? Maybe a little too out of the ordinary? I should probably think of something else before I get there.'' I thought. After about a minute of searching with my magic vision, I finally discovered their familiar aura''s. Although it took me a while to find them, it really shouldn''t have taken that long. ''Damn, I guess I have gotten a little weaker over the years.'' I thought with a fustrated face. After a good 5 minute walk across the Plaza to their area of the Town, I finally arrived in front of their house. Well, not really a house depending on how you look at it but it was better than nothing. It looked more like a Cabin. It was a small wooden structure with only one window from the front as far as I can see. Just like all the other windows, it too was cloudy making it hard to see through. The wood on the exterior was a little better than the rest of the town''s making it seem a little more....alive. I walked up to their door andgave a coupleknocks. *Knock knock knock*. "Hello, it''s me again uhh.......''Dale? no.'' Falinn. You know, the guy from the plaza who asked for directions." Surprisingly, the door opened pretty quickly after my knocking and behind it stood the younger girl from before. "Falinn!" she screams before hugging me. "Have you found my brother yet?" she asks while stillburying her face in mystomach. "Elina, get off him please. He''s not a toy." said the other older sister. "The names Lily. Sorry for not saying it earlier, but you were only a stranger. Now that you''re taking such a troublesome task from my little sister, I''m gonna have to change it up a bit.'' she said while having a good giggle. "The names Falinn, and its quite alright. I''ve never had a little sister before." I say while looking down at Elina. "Well, what brings you here to this small place called home?" Lily says. "Actually, I decided to join the army and before I go I wanted to give you guys something." I said while pulling out a small golden necklace previously hidden under my clothes and handing it to Lily. "Wha...what is this? I can''t accept this Mr.Falin. It''s too valuable." Lily says in an embarrassing manner. "No no, it''s okay. Think of it as payment for helping me earlier. But there is another reason why I''m giving it to you. You see, I''m a mage and this necklace is no ordinary necklace. If you would like, you can sell the necklace for money but please keep the small red crystal inside." Lily then opens the small necklace to find an even smaller red crystal that seems to have some sort of power running through it. Elina then runs over to her sister to also get a good look at it. "So shiny." Elina says in admiration. "Make sure to keep it on you at all times. When it starts to glow, put it on the ground and step back a couple feet. I''m sure what comes after will surprise you all." I say with a nice smile and good laugh.Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings. "I..Were so grateful Mr.Falin." Lily says while holding her little sister. "Its no problem.I couldn''t live as an empe- man if I couldn''t do this much. Well it''s best if I go now. The sun''s starting to die down. Wouldn''t want to miss the recruitment.I hope I can meet you guys later in the future." I say while walking away and waving goodbye at them.
Walking back towards the town plaza, I noticed the only other person walking around during this time. An old man wearing a gray hood and the same coloredclothes. He was pretty small, only measuring around 5''1 and had a long gray beard. But what''s most interesting is the aura around him. ''A mage''. I thought. Before arriving at the Cavern Inn door, which was the tallest building in the town with 4 stories, I really started tothinkabout mages as a whole. You see, during my reign, mages weren''t very common. Actually, they were very rare. 1 in a 100,000 I would say with a population of about 30 million. These mages didn''t have only your typical fireballs and healing spells, but each mage carried a unique power. Some would be able to become completely invisible for a small duration of times or others would be able to levitate things. It''s all very random. You wouldn''t even know your a mage until around the ages of 7-15, when your magical powers fully develop. Of course the earlier it develops, the more magical power that individual has. That''s primarily the reason why Noble families try arranging marriages with other Nobles with quicker developing rates. But out of these mages is a special type of Mage who holds an extremely powerful ability. These mages are born once every 1,000 years and have the ability to control the whole world. This is where I am. We called these mages, "The one above all". The one who, if playing the right cards, can either completely destroy the world or rule it. These mages never repeated previous abilities but each one was just as strong. "Hello." I said as I waved at the old man. "Ahh, hello. You going to the recruitment too?" He says with a voice surprisingly strong for his age. "Yeah. Guessing the army would need a mage in their ranks." I saidand thenchuckling. "Ohh, your a mage too? What''s your Special? ....Ahh just kidding. That would be very rude of me to ask such a question. The names Peter Van Serin. Yes I know, I must be a noble because of my last name but I assure you I am not. At least not anymore." "Sorry to hear that. My names Falinn. Just a commoner." "A mage commoner? Well that''s a first for me. I''ve never met any mage commoners before." Peter says as he opens the door to the Inn. I walked in first as he was holding the door and notice the small line in front of me. Probably around 10 people, some from the plaza because I memorized a couple of their faces. "Wow. I didn''t think this many would come. Just follow me Falinn. Since were mages, we get a little bit more..... special service." Peter says as he cuts through the line all the way towards the front. In front of the small line was 2 of the Captain''s subordinates inspecting the candidates. "Oiiiyy, this one''s good. Get him his uniform and give him a room." One of the Soldier shouts to the other Subordinates. "Excuse me Young Sir, but me and my friend here are mages." Peter says while putting his hand on my right shoulder. "Ohoho, mages ayy? Oiiyy, Khali.Write these guys info down and give em'' each a room. Captain will be glad with this." The soldier smiles as he looks at the two of us showing his yellow teeth. Skipping the whole waiting process and inspection as well, I was finally given an Army badge and taken to my room. The bronze army badge had a large tree indented in it indicating my rank and army affiliation. Finally settling down I took off my smelly clothes and decided I take a bath. As I took off my shirt, and inspecting all my scars ridden all over my body, there was something on me that wasn''t there before. A large black phoenix tattoo on my back. "Whe....When did this get here?" I mumble in confusion. Upon touching the tattoo, I felt a large wave of magical energy attacking my body. The large phoenix tattoo turned into a golden color before fading away and turning back to its original black. ''It seems there are still many questions left unanswered. Why was I brought back alive? Who did it?'' I thought while inspecting the large tattoo. "Well no use asking now. It''s best If I take a shower and get some shuteye. We leave early in the morning anyways." "My adventure begins tomorrow." Chapter 5- The War against the Kilts (Arc 1) Somewhere in the Kiltian Empire- The night was breezy and dark. The moon hidden behind a large cluster of clouds that seems almost irregular. The high winds so loud you wouldn''t be able to hear someone walk up to you. A large Desert stretching for miles as if it would never end. Walking across this desert during this breezy night were 4 men in sandy-colored cloaks. Walking in a line, these 4 men continued to walk as if they had a duty to fulfill. The man in the front, who was also the biggest, raised his hand indicating a stopping motion. He looked off into the distance filled with nothing but sand and rocks. " Hmmm....we''ll set up camp here. Alen set up the tents. Marc make sure to scout the surrounding area about a mile out to the south, you''ll be taking 1st shift and we''ll rotate every 2 hours. Victor check how much food and water we have left. We''ll need enough to get back or else it''ll be a one way trip. (In Unison)"Yes Captain!" "Shh. Keep your voices down. You never know how close the enemy is." (In unison)"Sorry Captain." After the soldiers broke their formation, the one in command, Captain Fang, sat on the sandy hill looking off into the distance, pondering over the thought of the mission. A while later. "Captain. I have finished setting up the tent." Alen said while standing at attention. "At ease soldier." Captain Fang said as he continued to look off into the distance. "Say....Alen. What do you think about this war?" "This war captain?" Alen said confusingly. "Yes, this war. What do you think of it? I know I don''t have any proof but I think someone is hiding in the back and pulling the strings. It just all seems....Weird." "Well, if I may so....I believe this war was destined to happen and there was nothing we could do about it. I know that many people will live unfortunate lives for the next couple of years but it is our duty to end it as fast as possible. Alen said confidently. "Too Simplistic. So narrow-minded." Captain fang said as he shook his head in shame. "You mustn''t think of this as simple rules and commands, but as ideas. A war will never follow the same path over and over again. It will evolve. The people will evolve. The weapons and the terrain will. All built from ideas. Did you know that Victor has 2 sisters waiting for him back home? He was due for release over 2 months ago but was picked to go on this mission with us. Do you know why?" "N..No Captain." Alen said hesitantly. "It''s because all those fucking nobles are too scared to step a foot out into the battlefield. They stay in their high and mighty towers giving commands to a war they don''t know how to fight. And because of this, the final draft was late for about a month so they had few Battalions guarding the borders. This was supposed to be an 8 person mission but was cut in half due to the shortage." Captain Fang said with an angry face. "Well...whatever. Nothing can be done about it. Lets just get some sleep and continue our walk tomorrow. Were only a couple miles out until we reach their main army camp. Alen make sure you write down their total amount of troops they have. We''ll go in and out as quickly as possible. "Yes Captain."
Country of Trianta, Borders- After about a 2 day ride from the Town we finally reached our destination. We reached the borders of Trianta where most of the soldiers are stationed.Getting off from the cart, 2 soldiers who seem like officers were waiting for us. Both wearing shiny steel armor with tree-like designs embedded within them, they stood out from the rest who all wore normal steel armor.Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. "Ahh, these must be the batch from Winslow. I heard two mages volunteered." The taller one said. Looking at him now, it seems as if he''s never been in battle. A man with dark black hair and smooth pale skin. Hands so smooth and soft, like they''ve never held a weapon before. Of course the thing that stands out the most is the golden medallion around his neck indicating he''s an officer. "Yes sir. It is me and this young fellow here. My name is-"I didn''t ask for your name Mage. Or should I say Peter Van Serin. The "Exiled Noble"? the tall man said with a smirk. Peter immediately shut his mouth and looked down. "My name is Forian Van Mero. You should be honored to be in the presence of a person such as myself. Now, I would like you two to accompany me to my tent. In case you haven''t noticed, a mage is a big asset to our army. I need to get you guys set for the upcoming battle." Forian said as he walked towards the center of the base camp. Looking around, the base camp was pretty large. Many tents formed up around each other with green banners all in front of them. Some soldiers were training or eating while others wereputting on their armor. In the distance towards the center was a tent much larger than the rest. While walking towards the tent, I decided to give my opinion to the fellow named Forian. "Sir Forian. I am sure you are a clever man but you should never make a tent larger than the rest in a base. It''s an immediate giveaway as to where a high-ranking official might be at." After hearing this, Forian stopped walking and turned around facing towards me. "Falin, was it? From my reports I heard you are a commoner. And a mage at that! So remarkable!" Forian exclaimed as he slowly walked towards me. "But....commoner Falin. I must tell you that you have no right to speak to me without asking for approval first!" Forian shouted while moving his right hand in a fast motion towards my face. Peter shut his eyes, not wanting to see such a sight. But no noise was heard. Opening his eyes, Peter saw Falin holding the arm of the noble Forian. "You....YOU!" Forian shouted as he pulled his hand away. "EXECUTE THIS MAN!" Forian shouted while holding his right arm as if he was in pain. "Bu....but sir. He is a mage." The other officer said. "I DO NOT CARE! KILL THIS MAN!" Forian shouted creating a big scene. The surrounding soldiers stopped what they were doing and watched as the scene unfolded. "Officer Forian. I would advise you to keep your voice down." An even taller and larger man said behind Forian. He had short brown hair and a scar over his right eye. He too was wearing steel armor with tree like designs on his armor except he also had a green cape on his back. Standing at 6''7, the man put his hand on Forian''s shoulder keeping him still. "Ge....General! I apologize for my rudebehavior! It''s just that this commoner here-"This Commoner? Forian haven''tI told you to respect all statuses here? The Kilts can attack at any second and such a distraction would prove fatal for us." The man said interrupting Forian. TheGeneral then walked towards us and took his hand out initiating a handshake towards Peter. "So sorry for my subordinate. I am General Hass, one of the 3 commanding Generals of the Triantian Army." Peter took his hand and shook it in a fast manner. " Its such an honor meeting the famous General Hass! Rumors say you killed a 3 headed Hydra Serpent from the forbidden lands!" Peter said while still shaking the General''s hand. After realizing how long he was shaking his hand, Peter stopped with an embarassed face. General Hass then looked at me and stopped in place. Eyes open-wide and a still body. Staring at me for around 5 seconds, General Hass finally took his hand out initiating another hand-shake. "I...I am General Hass. Pleased to meet you." He says with a faintly shaking hand and nice smile. "The names Falin. Pleased to meet you as well." I say while shaking his hand. "Well then. It would seem my subordinate caused much trouble for you two. If you would please follow me,I will show you to your tents. Please make sure to rest up tonight. There will be a big battle coming up tomorrow." Hass said with a smile.
After being showed to my tent, Hass and the others left. Looking around the small tent, it wasn''t half bad. A small but cozy bed and a chest to put some belongings in. Warm candles on the wooden stands around the tent and the best part of it all, a small 7ft by 7ft pool of hot water. But before I get into the bath, I should first set up the things they gave me ready for tomorrow. Inside the small chest was the same steel armor that all the soldiers wore except this set had a star embedded over where the heart would be. ''I guess this means that I''m a mage.'' I thought. After a couple hours of setting my supplies up and walking around the camp scouting the surrounding area, I walk back to my tent. Taking all my clothes off I walk into the pool of water relaxing all my muscles. ''God this is the best'' I thought. Sitting in the bath for a couple of minutes, I hear someone walk into my tent. "Wheew. What a long day. Can''t wait to-" looking towards the middle of my tent stood a half-naked woman with red hair. She had a pretty face with pink lips and smooth skin, but she still had the aura ofa fighter. In the middle of taking off her steel leggings, she looks at me with a surprised face. ''Wow. She''s got a nice body.'' I thought while staring at her. Her face immediately turned red in embarrasement and she quickly put her armor back on. Exiting my tent, she turned around and bowed. "I am so sorry" and walked out.
