《Enter the System》 Prologue The old gods were losing their war, out of options and time, they created a system. The system is to give all the dimensions a chance to defend themselves from the monsters attacking the gods, the Titans. Chapter 1 Thomas Reddy, 21, 6¡¯2 and 185 pounds, in decent shape with short black hair and blue eyes, a resident of Kentucky and a simple state employee in the capitol of Frankfort, lives in Lawrenceburg. He was the only child of a middle class family until his parents won a large sum of money from a lottery ticket in 2021, his parents both passed away a few years later in an Auto accident in 2023 and left everything to Thomas. A few days later he ended up quitting his job as the sole beneficiary of his parents will, he no longer had the time to work a normal job. He now owned a fairly large estate/farm and several cars, his parents were the prepper type so he ended up following in their footsteps on occasion, treating it more as a hobby than anything else. His parents were into firearms and stocking nonperishable type foods but he enjoyed more medieval weapons such as swords/bows and old types of armor and accessories. He was depressed for a few months after his parents died but his best friend Krista eventually dragged him back into society and doing all the things young people do, they have been best friends since high school so it wasn¡¯t that difficult to get him out and about. He wasn¡¯t a lady¡¯s man but he was fairly good looking so he did ok for himself when he tried. His best friend has been trying to distract him for the last few months by throwing him and some of her girlfriends on dates from time to time, nothing really came of it but it was a good distraction during a bad time in his life, oh the love of a best friend! Today was going to be just another day, except instead of going out to a club in Louisville or Lex, they were going to have a party at his estate, Krista, a couple of his friends and several of her girlfriends were going to drink and watch Cats game and play some old drinking and card games afterwards. Thomas: Krista, did you bring everything we need for the party and the after party? We only have a few hours until the others should be arriving, sometime around 7pm I think you told me earlier right? Krista: duh, not like I haven¡¯t thrown a party before Thom! You just keep sitting there like a slacker and let me take care of the rest. And yah the others should get here around 7¡¯ish Thomas: haha ok if you insist then I shall be that very slacker you claim me to be! So who all did you invite tonight anyways? Krista: Well just some friends and maybe somebody you will like to meet as well! Eventually you will give in to women¡¯s intuition and surrender! I also invited Amber, Ariel, and Autumn, the triple A¡¯s as you call them I guess haha Thomas: yah OK! Who is this girl I want to meet though? You know I hate surprises, come on and tell me something atleast? And I also invited Gregg as well so im not the only guy floating in a sea of attractive twenty somethings beautiful women! Krista: That¡¯s fine Gregg has always been cool but no, I shalt not give into your poutyness! You shall see my friend when she gets here and you will at the very least give her a chance, ok? She is the nicest girl I know and you two would be a good match for each other! You even like most the same things, like anime, playing rpg¡¯s and reading those stupid novels about playing in VR! How can I find you a more perfect girl? Come on please, just give her a chance? Please? Please? Please? Thomas: Ok I will atleast do my best and see what happens but I cant make any promises Krista! But I still don¡¯t think you could find somebody who could have all the same interests as me, I didn¡¯t think a girl like that existed for reals! At around 6:45 Gregg showed up with several 18 packs of Bud and they all started pregaming it, most of the girls arrived about a half hour later, bringing snacks and more alcohol. The game started at 7:30pm and the last of the girls arrived, including Thomas new fantasy girl, at 5¡¯7, blue eyes and light blond hair, reaching just past her shoulders, framing a cute heart shaped face that any guy would find attractive. Krista noticed her best friend staring at Mel so she took the initiative and decided to introduce them sooner rather than later so they couldn¡¯t avoid it or let it get too awkward. Krista: Mel this is my friend Thomas! You two should talk, you share most the same interests and have the same ability to annoy me to insanity! Chapter 2 As I look around my home to see everyones reactions to this fucked up message I see some horrified expressions, some looks of disbelief and some like myself thinking about how to prepare and doing mental checklists in their head.How am going to rally them? I have to think of something!I think in my panicking mind. First we need weapons, the message said guns dont work so that means... swords or clubs? I think to myself. Well CRAP! that can be either really good or bad! he thinks grimly to himself, hoping to whatever god is out there that those are amazing stats. Thomas: GUYS! and girls... this bullshit is setting up like an old fashioned RPG right? well say STATUS outloud or in your head and you will see your stats! you also should have unspent stat points, leave them that way for a few minutes please! we need to discuss what we are going to do and what our roles are going to be for the immediate future! The girls and gregg look at him in dismay as they think of those implications but they all do as he asks quickly, talking among themselves comparing stats, as Thomas listened, it became obvious that he by far had the best starting stats and most points to spend, he didnt think that out of malice, just that meant most others would probably also start at a lower point and give him and his friends a better chance to surivive whatever hell befalls them in the next hour or so. Thomas walks up to the group to talk to Gregg and Krista to tell them his stats also so that they could better prepare later, he also lets the rest of them know about his collection and that they wont becompletely defenseless. he motions for gregg and krista to walk with him while the other girls talk among themselves, still looking a little nervous but not in a full blown panick anymore. He also looks at Mel to see how she is doing, she looks back at him and just gives him the thumbs up. Well better than the middle finger i suppose hahaha!and he gives her a small smile and nods to her. Thomas: Gregg, Krista, we gotta go to the safes before the time runs out and whatever fucked up shit that is going to happen starts! It says the guns and stuff along those lines wont work anymore but you know i collect older weapons, I should have enough to arm our group semi decently. but i dont know how much help most of the girls will be if it comes to up close fighting, so we should atleast try to watch out for them, and get them to be more ranged based, that should mean the DEX stat. Krista most of your friends live more than an hour away and will be fucked if they try to leave and get stranded in the middle of nowhere.... Krista: yah.... il try to explain it to them, they are all smart enough to do the math, theres no way for any of us to get home quickly enough, but we should atleast have them try to get ahold of their families and tell them all to hunker down, eventually we may need to try to liberate them depending on how badly things go down throughout the state.. and the world. So as everyone is trying to call their loved ones, I end up going to the basement where i keep most of the weapons in combination safes, so i dont need to worry about the electronics going out atleast. once i start going through everything i begin to wish i had made some different choices in some of my purchases over the years, it would be nice to have a sturdy leather armor but the only armor i have is an old knights full armor but its currently too heavy for anyone here to wear. So I change out of my clothes and put on a black T-shirt and a thick leather jacket with some cargo pants and combat boots, the only other armor i can use are a pair of simple gauntlets that I then proceed to put on. after changing I start sorting through my weapons, swords, long knives, and bows/arrows, putting them on a table in the middle of the basement. I then begin toput my favorite Katana and sheath in my belt, as i notice everybody else walking down the stairs to the basement, most of them with tear streaked and red eyed. Thomas: did everybody manage to get in touch with their loved ones? Krista: yah everybody managed to get ahold of somebody atleast, my sister and greggs brother and sister, and Mels younger sister should be able to get here around when the timer runs out, speaking of... we only have 20 minutes left! do you have everything useable out here? Thomas: yah this is it, everything I thought would be useful is on the table in the middle, EVERYONE load up on what you think suits you! we only have a few minutes left to prepare for what ever shit hits the fan! I watched as Krista chose a small Roman Gladius and a small round shield for defense, as expected, light and quick for her. Gregg chose a long iron tipped spear, andAmber, Ariel, and Autumn were given short bows and long daggers for long/close range, the girls were happy with that becauseAriel and Autumn were on their highschool archery team so that was a small blessing atleast! And Melody chose a Composite Bow, and it really looked like it suited her!
