《A World Reborn》 Chapter 1 Gods wrath Waking up in his parent¡¯s old house like always, John got out of bed. Yet, today he felt different, like he was missing something. However, that feeling lasted only for a fleeting moment before he was back to his old self again. While doing his daily morning routine like always, he looked in the mirror and saw his crystal blue eyes and disheveled dark brown hair. Whatever, I¡¯m not the one missing out on this handsome stud he thought. John took a cursory glans at his pillbox but decided against it today, since they always made him feel bad. After getting done with his morning routine, he sat down in his father¡¯s old la-z boy chair, turned on the news and eat breakfast like he always does. Watching the news was one of the only things that gave some measure of excitement to his life. Without it his days would simply be dreadful and zombie like. On the news, he saw the same thing he saw everyday, sensational news about riots, civil unrest, terrorist acts and more about suicide rates. Even though the news brought him some excitement, even that was becoming predictable and boring. John lamented over the fact that there was never anything good on the news, only reports about catastrophes and how the world was going to end any day now. After some time, John went to his car, getting ready for work. The weather was overcast and there was some light drizzle, he thought he had seen this weather all to often lately. John did not look forward to his 10-hour shift at the steel mill, one of the only places left in the small town that still hired and paid people. If one wanted to live in this town then, there was a good chance you would have to work at the steel mill to survive, or you would have to create your own work. John would have probably left this dreaded place already if not for the fact that this was his childhood home and where his parents lived and died. His job at the mill was to simply pull a lever at a set time and move some dials, it was so simple, that if not for the cost of robotics he would have been replaced long ago. Despite his job being simple, exhausting and unchallenging, he still did it diligently, he still needed money to survive after all. Coming home after a long day, John was exhausted and only wanted to relax. He sat down in his comfy, old chair, turned on the news and started munching on a sandwich he bought on the way home. Even though John was tired, what he saw one the news dissolved all his exhaustion. ¡°¡For those just tuned in, we have reports from the middle-east that large parts of it seems to be engulfed in fire¡± a male reporter chimed in. At first John¡¯s exhaustion made him mishear, since he was only half listening, and even then, he though it was just a mispronunciation on the reporter¡¯s part. Surely the whole middle-east couldn¡¯t be set a blaze, right? ¡°hold on ¡ it seems we have live footage from one of our correspondents from the region¡±. ¡°Oh my god!¡± the female reporter screamed out, before anyone had time to process what they were looking at. In a small window the on the TV, footage of a 300-feet-high wall of blood red flames rising into the air was shown live, inside the fire, some might see wailing faces filled with pain and suffering. A fuzzy voice comes in from the background of the live footage, ¡°Can you hear me Mark?¡±. At first the male reporter seems to stunned to talk, after a second or two, he responds ¡°yes we can hear you Tom, what in god¡¯s name is going on over there!?¡±. ¡°Well Mark I¡¯m not really sure either, but from where I¡¯m sitting it looks like large parts of this region is covered in some kind of hellfire¡±. John simply sits in his chair dazed and lost. After what seems like an eternity he finally snaps out out if it. Bewildered and scared, he just sits in his chair not know exactly what to do with himself. After a few more seconds, he starts switching channels, what he sees almost scares his soul out of him. In hundreds of places around the world there there are reports of hellfire, sporadic lightning and death. Suddenly John notices something in the corner of his eye, turning his head and looking outside his window, he sees massive banks of rolling black clouds covering the entire sky. Coiling through the clouds he sees massive tendrils of red lightning lashing out and hitting houses, buildings and the ground. If he wasn¡¯t already scared, he definitely was now. John couldn¡¯t keep himself from thinking this was the foretold apocalypse coming to cleanse the earth, and he would soon come to know that he almost guessed correctly. John was just sitting in his chair waiting for the nightmare to end, when suddenly the sky turned blood red, the light was so strong it even overpowered the almost pitch black clouds and turned the sky a very ominous dark red. Out of the clouds, from the epicenter of the light, came a blood red beam of light streaming down and hitting the ground a couple miles away from John¡¯s house, the ground shook violently. John couldn¡¯t keep his eyes away from that beam of red light that seemed to pulsate with raw power, making his skin crawl. However, suddenly as if someone flipped a switch the beam grew smaller and disappeared in seconds, and the black clouds disappeared like nothing had ever happened.Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Out of nowhere a booming voice came, it was so loud John was wondering if his whole house might get blown away. ¡°PEOPLE OF EARTH, I AM THE NEW SOVEREIGN OF THIS WORLD, THE NEW GOD¡±. ¡°I have removed the most corrupt and deplorable humans among you, do not feel pity for them, for they do not deserve it. In two years, I will remake the earth, and recreate humanity. I will do what the false gods before me could not, I will give humans the chance to to embark on greatness or ruin. If you want to witness me, then come to Mount Olympus in a year and experience my greatness¡±. This small speech left billions of people stunned, everywhere around the world, not a single person did not hear this speech. Even if you were deaf this voice would still be heard inside your head. At this moment, all kinds of different emotions could be seen, some where overjoyed that their life might come to have some meaning now, others were feeling despair, and some were feeling sorrow for their loved ones that died, despite what ¡°god¡± had said. On the TV, the reporters had left long ago, presumably to be with their family. While ¡°god''s¡± speech might not have turned the most god-fearing Christians and Muslims, but what can be said for sure, is that there is probably no more atheist left in the world. John had already turned off the TV so he could gather his thoughts for a moment. For the next few months there was extensive coverage of all the death. The hellfire was very selective off who it killed, if an entire household was deemed unworthy of living then there would be nothing left but scorched earth. For some reason though, even if just one person was worthy of living, then only the unworthy would be burnt and the worthy would be left behind in the house. There were extensive rescue service gathering up all the children and toddlers left behind. the EU was also left with several hundred thousand children and toddlers from the different regions of Europe and parts of Asia, appearing out of thin air. South Africa and Egypt was also given a sizeable amount of children, as central Africa had been hit by a large amount of hellfire. People were having a hard time responding to the catastrophe. As they were told not to grieve the dead, but many have it in their nature to grieve such an event. All the larger countries, such as USA, China, Brazil, Germany, India and other were hit the hardest, although the ¡°western¡± countries were hit the least. The estimated death toll was in excess of one billion for Asia and Australia, and another billion in the rest of the world. Who was actually killed seemed very sporadic and random, with only the key word being ¡°bad people¡±. Yet people like, organized crime syndicates and drug dealers survived so people were puzzled and scared since the deaths seemed extremely illogical. After about half a year things got pretty much back to normal, or, as normal as it can get. Many stout believers in their religion of choice believed this was a test by their god, to see who would defect to the new god. So even though the amount of atheist in the world probably has reach 0, there are still many who hold on to their old religion. However even more have converted and are now believers of what has been coined the New age faith. It is not just scientist who are bad at naming new things. While John had not joined this new religion in any official capacity, he did believe this deity is truly a god. He would certainly believe beams of death and hellfire over old dusty books. John continued to work is normal job after a week or so, even if the apocalypse had just come to earth, people still need steel for pots and pans. Over the next few months several hundred million religious followers of the New Age faith, went on pilgrimages to Mount Olympus. They considered it the holy ground that would be the new seat of power. What some might find amusing was that all these people going to Greece meant that the tourism was booming, and Greece was steadily climbing out of its pit of debts. Unbeknownst to Greece, at some point, a flat plateau had been made on Mount Olympus. This was of course considered the place where god would appear, it was so large that the area could fit several million people if they squeezed tight together On that faithful day, exactly two years later, John was sitting in his chair watching the news. It didn¡¯t matter which channel you were watching they all showed the same plateau on Mount Olympus. Suddenly you could see black clouds starting to collect overhead. From the almost black clouds a face appeared. It was hard to make out any defining characteristics as the clouds were rolling and constantly moving, like paint on water. ¡°GREETINGS¡± That same booming voice could be heard like last time. ¡°It would seem most of you have moved on and gotten used to my presence, good. Now before I start I want to ask you, do you find this world boring? Lackluster?¡± Something about his words really resonated with John, like they were speaking directly to his heart. ¡°I have looked at all of humanities aspirations and dreams. Tell me do you live because you have a meaning, a pourpose in your life? Does it matter if you live or die? Or do you simply live to live, to not die, because your mind tells you, you should not die? Well now I am giving you the chance to give your life meaning. Because of how meaningless your lives are I have decided I am updating earth, this realm, this whole reality. Do you want to become an immortal who can fly through the sky? Do you want magic that can destroy cities with a thought? Do you want to borrow the power of nature and become a ferocious beast? Do you desire power? Now you can do all of that. It¡¯s all out there, you just have to find it. Now go, find your destiny, and RISE TO GODHOOD¡± Chapter 2 Be wary of strange red liquids Chapter 2 Be wary of strange red liquids. It took some time for John to process everything, something that most humans were doing at the moment. John took a long time thinking of everything ¡°god¡± had just announced. What he was most interested in was the sentence ¡°rise to godhood¡± if taken at face value would mean most humans can become a god. Which seemed absurd to John, however everything "god" did was extremely absurd, so it was not to outlandish to think so. Something else he got quite caught on was the words, ¡°out there¡± meaning you had to go look for it, it would be too convenient if everyone could become a god from the comfort of their sofa. John was unsure on what to do, but in the end, he decided to put his life on hold for the moment and head to his fathers hunting cabin, which was more like a badly insulated shack than a cabin. Even though some people find the big open forest to be more dangerous than the city, John was not a normal man, he loved the outdoors. He had spent large parts of child hood in that beaten-up shack and the forest. To him the forest was the safest place, since animals are predictable, and humans are not. He Hurriedly start packing together items needed for survival in the woods. While rummaging through his closet for his old military clothes, he spots his fathers old Remington 700. John hesitates or a moment, unsure whether to bring it or not, but eventually decides its more of a boon than a bane. While looking at this old dusty rifle John feels a bit melancholic, lamenting over his father¡¯s death. Maybe if he had lived a few more years, he might have been able to rid himself of his cancer. After reminiscing for a while he, snaps out of it and gets back to task at hand, I have no time for bygone ages. I need to get out of here before someone shoots me for my toilet paper and baked beans. After gathering some food that will last for a long time, John locks his door and heads out. After a week in the wild, eating granola bars and berries, John realizes his decision might have been a hasty one. However, his gut was telling me that this was a smart move. Even though this might have been a hasty, or even stupid idea, John was the kind of man that trusted his gut more than most. Through out his life, his gut feeling had saved his life several times or at least saved him from serious harm. After three weeks, he had already ran out of processed food, but with some waiting and marksmanship he was remarkably able to kill a few rabbits. Together with some berries, roots and other edibles he managed to keep himself feed for a few weeks. By week seven however, he was starting to become famished, after not eating for almost a week. After failing to find a new rabbit to eat, John got lost in the woods and couldn¡¯t find his way back his fathers cabin. His hunger pains were getting to a level rarely felt by people in the western world. It was getting dark, John was tired and starving, after all this time all he wanted was a place to sleep that offered some protection from the sour weather. After slowly dragging his body a bit further he suddenly stumbled upon a 20-foot-high cliff. Leaning on the cliff, using it as support, John continued scanning for something that could work as a shelter. In the distant darkness, he spots a oddly shaped rock, jutting out of the cliff. Finally, he thought something that can keep me dry through the night. However, once he got closer he noticed that underneath the odd rock the cliff was gone, replaced by a large oval opening. A cave? He thought. Creeping closer to investigate, John forget most of his hunger, out of fear that this might be a bear cave. Using what little energy he has left he focuses his attention on the surrounding area, the evening is still at twilight, so his sight was still quite good, at least this close. John had learned about bears early on in his life, considering where he lives, it was a very valuable life lesson, to know such things as telltale signs of bear activity. Yet he couldn¡¯t find any signs, no scratch marks or tufts of fur. Eventually he makes it up to the cave, his rifle locked and loaded and slightly shaking. Peering into the cave, John can¡¯t see anything or hear much either. At this point, John was so drunk on adrenaline and hungry that even if this was a bear cave, he might just eat the bear. Continuing on into the cave John suddenly notices a red glow in the distance. What could make red glowing light in the middle of the forest? he asks himself. Eventually after some hesitation his curiosity takes over, and he can¡¯t help himself from slowly creeping forward, eventually after seems like an eternity, he stands in front of the glowing red object.Support the creativity of authors by visiting Royal Road for this novel and more. Surprisingly the glowing red object, is a vial of red liquid. John carefully pick it up and inspect it. On the front, there is a picture of a pitch-black wolf. At this point his mind is boggled, his first thought is that this is a practical joke, set up by someone after ¡°gods¡± announcement. However, he quickly dismisses that thought, after all John is, god knows how far into the woods. The odds of someone setting up a prank here is very low. After that John¡¯s mind is immediately drawn to ¡°gods¡± announcement, more specifically the words ¡°out there¡±. Could this really be one of god¡¯s gifts, just left out here for anyone to take. Surely it can¡¯t be this easy to acquire. Yet, no matter how much he tries to dissuade himself he can¡¯t contain his curiosity, and eventually pulls out the stopper and chugs the entire bottle in on swig. Much to his surprise, the red liquid tasted much better than expected. Which immediately eased his mind a little, if it had tasted horrible he might have thought this was a actually a prank. At this point, John got extremely tired and he turned around to find somewhere to sleep, when he suddenly lost consciousness and fell face first onto the hard rock ground. Maybe drinking that potion wasn¡¯t so smart. John woke up with the worst headache he had ever had, worse than any hangover. He felt like someone was hitting his head with a sledgehammer every other second. He got up from the cold hard ground and rested against the wall trying to mitigate some of the pain he was currently feeling. After a few minutes, he was feeling quite a bit better, and he started scanning the cave in the morning light that was streaming in. Except for the pedestal the vial was on, and some bones that belong to a rabbit, the cave was completely empty. That is when John suddenly noticed the dry puddle of blood on the ground where his face used to be. Did I break my nose when I fell? He pondered, however, after touching his face, he noticed to his surprise that his nose was fine except some dry blood on it. However, at this point John noticed something was different, he could see more clearly, and his sense of smell had exponentially risen. He felt powerful, like his body was about to explode from pent up energy. Feeling his muscles, he notices that they are much tougher and miraculously he had developed a six pack during the night. John tried to feel what was different in his body, that¡¯s when he suddenly felt like there was some weird ¡°thing¡± in his chest, specifically his heart. It was as if some weird globule of something was inside it. John got a bit freaked out, however he quickly calmed down, since it was already inside him there was not much he could do. He experimented a little more with his body, when he remembered that the vial had a picture of a wolf, his mind immediately went to those shitty werewolf movies he had seen on TV a few times. He felt like there was a connection, and he tried what most children had done at some point in their life, he told his body:transform. Suddenly he feels his body convulsing, and spasming and his bones breaking and snapping, the sound is excruciating. However, he felt no pain, whatsoever. John doesn¡¯t even dare to look at himself, as he feels himself growing bigger, and bigger. He takes solace in the fact that, at least he governs when he transforms and not the moon. Opening his eyes, John has to stand hunched over to fit inside the cave. The first thing he notices is long black snout sticking out from his face, for a second he is completely dazed. He lifts his arms and sees that hey have become extremely long. His forearm is filled with lean muscles as hard as iron and his upper arms are bulging with incredible muscles. His fingers are long and somewhat unwieldy, with almost two-inch-long razor sharp claws at the end. What in god¡¯s name am I? he asks himself. He continues to study his new body in great detail. Most of his body is covered in black fur and filled with muscles exploding with power. At this point, John can do nothing except admit he has in fact turned into a werewolf. Feeling a bit cramped inside the cave, John elects to move outside and stretch his body. My god, the ground is so far away was his first thought, when fully extending his body. Although he¡¯s not sure, he realizes he must be at least 9 feet tall, and weigh a 1000 pounds. At first his feet feel a bit wobbly, like a toddler trying to walk, but he quickly learns how to move properly. Even though he is not able to run, he can do a slight jog, which is already faster than most humans running. He thinks back to the bad movies he saw, and remembers that all the werewolves run on all four, considering his abnormally long hands, it makes quite goods sense. Standing on all four feels very comfortable and natural to John, he is even able to move his head up and down in 180 degrees, unlike most humans. John starts running forward, to his surprise he is easily able to surpass max human run speed at just 50% effort. His mind is filled with glee as he pushes it 100% and zooms away at over 70 mph. As he reaches top speed things seems to slightly slow down, unlike speed blindness, everything seems to move much slower around him. And his extreme sight makes him able to see a leaf falling 100 feet away. Unbeknownst to John, he is one of the first evolved people on earth at this time. Chapter 3 First Encounter Chapter 3 First Encounter John continuous to test the limits of his abilities for several hours, when going at full speed he is able to skip of trees, and keep himself of the grounds for a substantial amount of time. Despite his weight, when running the only thing one might hear is the crunching of old leaves and twigs. He also learned his claws seem to be magical, as they can leave large gashes in even rocks, yet if he wishes they turn so dull they are only able to tear leaves. After several hours of testing John has gotten quite accustomed to his new form, and he¡¯s not even tired yet, one would think he had infinite stamina and vigor. John heads back to the cave, however, when standing in front of it, he notices that what he thought was just an odd rock is actually the upper jaw of a gigantic wolf. Quite fitting when one thinks what was hidden inside. John heads inside to see if he forgot something in his excitement. All he finds inside are the same old rabbit bones he saw earlier and the pedestal the vial was standing on. Suddenly, he hears foot steps outside, they were almost inaudible however with his new enhanced hearing, he still managed to notice it. Walking outside the cave he looks around to see what was making noise, and spots a wolf. At first the wolf seems wholly surprised and befuddled, yet it quickly gathers its bearings and decides to do the smartest thing it has ever done, it lunges towards John, going straight for his throat. John is hardly phased by this relatively small wolf. Time seems to slow down as John considers his options, as someone who is half wolf at this point, he doesn¡¯t want to outright kill it. However, he can¡¯t just stand there and get bitten either. He decides to do the safest thing; lightly swatting the wolf to the side, making sure not to hit it with his claws. Unsurprisingly the wolf goes flying several feet the the right. landing heavily with a thud, and luckily without injury. John walks over, standing over the wolf. To his surprise the wolf yelps then promptly rolls over on its back, showing him its belly and throat. John knows instinctively that the wolf is submitting to him. He is somewhat befuddled, as to what he should do next. However, as he stands there pondering, he suddenly feels something is going on with the globule in his heart. He clearly feels that a part of the globule is traveling down his veins, into the palm of his right hand. Unsure of why this happenes, John at least know what he has to do, and promptly slices his own palm with a claw. He gives his palm a slight squeeze and out comes a single drop of blood before the wound closes up again instantly. He lets the droop of blood, run down his finger until it is dangling at the of his claw. John looks at the drop of blood and inside he sees something that disturbs him, running through the drop there are several black lines, like snakes playing in water. However, john elects to forget it for the moment, and quickly reaches down to the wolf with his left and grabs its lower jaw. He opens the wolfs jaw and gently dabs the single drop of blood on the tip of the wolfs tongue. At first nothing happens, but the wolf quickly starts convulsing and spasming. John wonders if this happened to him as well. He moves back a bit and sit down, analyzing exactly what is happening. As time goes on, John feels something, he can¡¯t really put his finger on what it is. Although he is not really sure what it is, his best guess is that this is some kind of spiritual connection to the wolf. Seeing as how he can not only feel its presence but also tell where and how far away it is. I have always heard wolves were spiritual animals, guess they were right. John continues observing, and eventually the convulsions mostly stop. At this point the wolf had taken on a much bluer pelt color, almost electric blue. John could tell through his spiritual connection that the wolf was in large amounts of pain, presumably the wolf was going through the same headache as he had, some hours ago. Eventually the wolf got up and was extremely confused. When it looked at John, he clearly noticed intelligence in the wolfs eyes, that was not there before. Suddenly the wolf started cramping and spasming again, however, this time it looked much more like the time when John transformed. Right in front of Johns eyes, the wolf started transforming, his eyes glued to the wolf while this happened. This his great surprise, the wolf didn¡¯t transform into a werewolf form, like he was expecting. Instead it started transforming into a much more human form, and a woman at that. Her upper arms, outer thighs, hips, back, neck is covered in electric blue fur with white stripes, looking almost like lightning was coursing over her skin. Her forearm and legs had much shorter white hair. While her stomach, inner thighs, chest and throat had human like skin. Silver blue hair and wolf ears adorned her head, while a fluffy tail was sticking out of her lower back. Both her hands and feet still retained their claws. The whole package was complete with a set of blood red eyes. All in all, she looks very much like a wolf-human hybrid. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°Alpha¡±, she called out. John was startled, not expecting those words, or words at all for that matter. ¡°me?¡±, ¡°yes, you are my alpha¡±. John recalls some animal show he watched where they called the pack leader an alpha male. It must be instinctual for her to call me Alpha.John thought. ¡°How can you talk?¡± John asks. ¡°I¡¯m not sure, but it must be from what you gave me¡± she answered. Lots of thoughts went through Johns head, but his conclusion was that the bloodline he has is able to not only turn humans, but also wolves into werewolves. Quite the useful information if one wants to create their own pack of werewolves, however one must remember that a wolf pack is filled with constant in fighting about who is the alpha male. ¡°Wait, how do you have a personality, or thoughts?¡± John asks. ¡°I¡¯m not sure, I think god jumpstarts us with a personality and some semblance of common sense, as well as our memories of being a wolf.¡± She answeres. ¡°So, you remember everything that happened when you were a wolf? Can you remember why you came here?¡± John quizzed her further. ¡°Maybe I should reiterate, it¡¯s not so much my memories. It feels more like bits and pieces of someone else¡¯s memories. The reason I came here, is because this is where my previous pack stayed, before I was sent away by the alpha. Earlier I found the dead body of a former pack member. My former self, still thought she was part of the pack, so she came back to see what happened. Now I realize how foolish My former self was, my pack threw me out because I was not producing litters, making me useless to them. Now however, I am part of your new pack, and I will serve you for the rest of my life.¡± she answered with gusto. ¡°huh¡±, was all that John was able to produce at this time, he had to take so time to process all this new information. ¡°So, you already know about god?¡± John questioned. ¡°Yes, he has given me some cursory knowledge about him, like the event seven weeks ago,¡± she responded. ¡°So, you know about that¡±. After talking some more, John finds out that despite how little she seems to know, she is remarkably smart. John is a bit scared that she might actually be smarter than him, despite being ¡°born¡± a few minutes ago. ¡°By the way what is the form you are in now?¡± John quizzes her. ¡±Oh, this is my wolf-human hybrid, I can also transform into a werewolf form and my original wolf form¡±. John got slightly annoyed that she got three forms and he only has two, or so he thinks at least. ¡°Oh, I just realized, what is your name?¡± john asks.¡± I don¡¯t have a name¡±. No name huh, I guess I should give her one, I have never been good with names though John laments. ¡°Would you like me to name you?¡± John asks. ¡°It would be my honor to receive a name from you, Alpha¡± she answers. ¡°Hmm, but what to name you? Oh, I¡¯ve got it; Luna. that is your name now¡±. ¡°Thank you very much Alpha, Luna is honored to receive her name¡± Luna happily responds. While John was feeling satisfied with his choice of name. John realized both he and Luna are naked. At first John looks away as to not, however ironic, seem predacious. Luna of course noticed his aversive eyes, ¡°Is something wrong, Alpha?¡± she askes puzzled, ¡°no-no I just, I just didn¡¯t want to be rude and ¡ look¡± John responded prudishly. Luna donned a sweet smile and answered ¡°I don¡¯t mind, you can look all you want¡± unknowingly somewhat coquettishly. John felt like he had a fish bone stuck in his throat, as he looked back at Luna, making sure only to look at her face. However, he allowed himself a few peeks at her perfectly voluptuous body. Despite her body being a feast for the eyes, that was it, there was no other ¡°animalistic urges¡±. John looked between his legs just to be sure ¡°it¡± was still there. Luna did of course pick up on where his eyes were going, ¡°you know Alpha, wolves only mate during certain periods of the year¡± Luna stated. John let out a massive sigh, all his worries disappearing with it, for a moment he thought he might have been impotent. Although that brought John onto the subject of how his children would look now that he has a bloodline, but that is a thought for another time. Out of Nowhere John hears his stomach grumbling like a thunder cloud. He had completely forgotten that he had not eaten in over a week. Hearing Johns grumbling stomach, ¡°Alpha, should we go out and hunt for some food?¡±, Luna suggests Chapter 4 Hearts taste delicious Chapter 4 Hearts taste delicious Although John never was a big fan of hunting, the idea of fresh meat, almost made him drool all over himself. ¡°alright lets go hunting¡± John stated. Luna swiftly turned into her werewolf form, which made her drastically less beautiful, she now looked like a leaner, shorter version of John, except she still had her white and electric blue pelt color. As they race of into the forest, ¡°how do we find something to hunt¡± John pondered. Except to his surprise he got a response. ¡°Alpha, how are you talking into my head?¡± Luna''s question filled his head. ¡°You heard that!?¡± John responded befuddled. Luna simply nodded. After a thinking over John concluded that this must be because of the spiritual connection they share. ¡°it appears we can communicate telepathically¡± John stated gleefully. ¡°that is very convenient, wolves do something similar, except with body language¡± Luna added ¡°it allows us to hunt in silence¡±. ¡°well let''s take full advantage of this great boon we have been given¡± John responded. With this new found ability in mind, they raced of into the woods, looking for prey. At breakneck speed john is a lot faster than Luna, however, he of course slowed down so that they both could run at a comfortable speed, and still be able to look for something to eat. ¡°We still don¡¯t know how to find prey though¡± John stated. Earlier they had been so swept up in the ability to talk telepathically that they had completely forgotten to think about how to find something to eat. ¡°Wolves have very good hearing, try to listen for something¡± Luna answered. ¡°Ahh of course, I should have thought of that¡± John lamented, while Luna made a sweet laughing sound. They both stop on the ground, since running around like headless chickens is quite pointless. John focuses his hearing trying to listen to something. *THUMP* when he suddenly hears a massive thumping sound, like someone just smacked him on the head with a rotten log. John looks around for what made the sound, when he suddenly notices something that almost scared him silly. When looking at Luna, he can see right through her chest and rib cage, and clear as day as if he had x-ray vision, John can see her beating heart inside her chest. ¡°Luna, I can see your heart¡± he somewhat stutters out, Luna only tilts her head like a puppy and makes a confused face. When looking at the rest of her body, everything else is normal, however for John, its as if someone installed a window in her chest, showing her heart. *THUMP* again the thumping sound is produced, however, this time John can tell that it is coming from Lunas heart as he sees it beating in sync with the thumping. He can not only see her heart, but also hear her heartbeat as if her heart was inside his head. That¡¯s when he notices that hers is not the only one, John looks around and spots multiple heartbeats. He can even see some of the hearts through the forest, like a lantern far away in darkness. ¡°hahahaha, this is almost like cheating¡± John utters almost manically ¡°I can see and hear all heartbeats of the animals around us, Luna, hunting now will be like picking flowers¡±. Luna looks happily at John ¡°then that¡¯s good¡±. ¡°We should stop hanging around here¡± John states gleefully before they both race of towards the closest heartbeat John can see. As they close in John can tell that their first prey of the day is a medium sized deer, eating some grass, as deer tend to do. Both stop a few hundred feet away, yet, even at this distance both of them can see the deer as if they were 10 feet away. ¡°Luna, wait here, I will kill it quickly¡± John states, Luna simply nods in support. John tenses up his muscles and gets ready to go full speed forward. John barely makes any sound as he shoots of at almost 100 mph. The deer seemingly oblivious to its own death, coming towards it at breakneck speed, just eats grass as always. When John is already within 20 feet of it, it notices something and is about to rise its head, but at that point its already to late. John raises one hand and decisively swipes downwards towards the deer¡¯s neck. John''s claws easily cuts half the deer¡¯s neck off, and the force of the swipe smashes the deer¡¯s head into the ground with a loud *thud*. The deer dies on the spot and gurgles a bit from its own blood. Luna shows up behind John after a few seconds. John looks at her emotionless face and is somewhat startled. However, he realizes that while he himself is not apathetic to the deer¡¯s death, he feels quite the opposite, he feels an almost animalistic joy over the animal¡¯ death, which scares and unsettles him. However, his hunger takes over and John lifts the deer into the air with an arm and slices its stomach from start to end, watching as half the guts spill out. John remembers seeing this and puking as a child, however now, the scent and sight is almost appetizing. He¡¯s not sure if it¡¯s his overwhelming hunger or the animal in him that¡¯s causing this. John reaches into the chest of the deer and pulls out the lunges, which exposes the still warm heart. Reaching in, John yanks the heart out and throws away the rest of the body. Werewolves love hearts, right? I have a feeling eating anything else than the heart would be pointless. Besides something or someone else will eat the rest anyway. John concludes. Feeling the squishy, warm heart in his hand, John almost goes mad from hunger and immediately takes a hearty bite. John almost starts crying from the taste, which is better than anything he¡¯s ever had before. If there was a restaurant that served only this, Michelin would have to add another two stars to their ranking just to justify the quality. If 3 stars is ¡°Worth its own trip¡± then the heart John was eating would be ¡°worth to go to war for¡±. John couldn¡¯t keep his hands and ate the rest in one bite, savoring the taste as much as he could. After eating the heart John could tell that he was rejuvenated and full of strength. If he had had any fatigue, then that would have been gone as well. Although John didn¡¯t notice, his strength had actually risen by a tiny amount. ¡°how was it?¡± Luna wondered, ¡°like the most delicious thing in the entire world¡±. ¡°That¡¯s good¡± Luna responded with a smile, at least John thought she was smiling, it was hard to tell with the wolf face. ¡°Let¡¯s go, I want more¡± John stated. He was starting to feel like a drug addict, however the taste of hearts was not only delicious but also good for him, so why wouldn¡¯t he eat lots of them? John and Luna rushed of into the forest looking for more prey. After a while they had both eaten several tens of hearts each, and were starting to feel the rise of their strength. Even though they both had traveled several miles, they still unknowingly stayed mostly in the inner edges of the outer reaches. Of course, as with all things repetition makes it less good, as the hearts they both eat progressively got less and less tasty. After gorging themselves on hearts, they took a break and allowed their bodies to process all the food.Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. Just as a precaution, John kept his ¡°heartbeat sense¡± as he calls it, on at all times, just to be sure they don¡¯t miss something delicious sneaking by. Because John had been using his heartbeat sense for almost two hours, he was getting quite proficient with it and could not only phase out some hearts but also focus in on other hearts. However, while they were taking a break, that¡¯s when John noticed something weird in the distance. He noticed another heartbeat, however this one was not like the others, it was distorted, like something was wrong with it. ¡°Luna, there is a weird heartbeat in the distance, I wanna go check it out¡± John said. Luna simply nodded approvingly, truly a girl of few words. John felt that no matter what he said, Luna would do it. Unwavering loyalty feels nice john thought. Both of them ran of, unknowingly deeper into the forest, leaving the ¡°safer¡± outer reaches. John noticed while they were running, that they had to get much closer to this weird heartbeat before he could see the heart, compared to the other animals he had meet today. However, when he finally saw he heartbeat, he got very creeped out, because that heart was deep purple in color. ¡°Wait, Luna, something is wrong with this animal¡± John sent telepathically. ¡°yes¡± Luna answered swiftly. John starts leaping of trees to try and get to a good vantage point. When they are just a few tens of feet away, John stops on a thick, sturdy tree branch that looks to be able to support. When John spots the animal, he gets a large surprise. the animal with the purple heart, looks to be an oversized moose. However, its different. It¡¯s mutated or infected, its veins are protruding and pulsating with a purple hue. Instead of antlers it has a single long thin horn on each side that goes forward, similar to a bulls¡¯ horns, but instead of regular white or brown horns, they are instead made of two purple crystals that pulsates with energy. Although John is severely surprised and somewhat disgusted by this creature, he still intends to kill it and eat its heart, hoping that it won¡¯t infect him with some strange disease. His instinct tells him this creature is dangerous and he should be careful around it. John leans forwards and shoots down at the creature at breakneck speeds, with claws ready to strike as soon as he is within range. When John is just a few feet away almost with in striking distance, the creature suddenly jerks its head up at a speed way beyond what a moose should be capable off. John catches a glance into the creature¡¯s eyes, and sees the ferociousness and madness in its eyes as one of its horns stab into his right shoulder, and goes straight through, coming out of his back. John feels anger welling up inside him, as some of his animalistic reflexes take over, although he lost his sneak attack, he is now in a good position to strike. John readjust a little and quickly stab the claws on his left hand into the side of the creature¡¯s neck and the claws on his right hand into the throat. He fiercely pulls both arms towards himself, effectively turning the creature¡¯s neck into string cheese. After that, the creature¡¯s eyes quickly dim and lose their life, as the creature dies. ¡°Alpha! Are you ok?¡± Luna says, with quite a lot of unease in her voice, as she runs over. John feels a bit of warmth in his heart and somewhat forgets he¡¯s got a purple horn the size of sword sticking through his body. ¡°Yeah, I think so¡± John quickly respond after coming back to reality. Although John is not one to beg for love, it has been quite a few years since he felt someone actually cared about his well being, and that lingering warm feeling woke up some old memories. After coming back to reality, John pushes the creature¡¯s head away from himself, freeing him from the purple sword horn. The pain was excruciating, the worst he has ever felt. Blood slowly oozes out of the wound, but quickly stops and the wound was already starting to heal on the edges. John felt quite lucky that werewolves have incredible self healing. John does the same thing he has done with the other animals, and promptly retrieves the heart from the creature¡¯s carcass, which has a disgusting black, white and purple color with purple smoke like symbols snaking over the white. ¡°Alpha are going to eat that?¡± Luna asked worryingly, ¡°Yeah, I don¡¯t think it¡¯s dangerous¡± he reaffirms. John chomps down on the heart, eating half in one bite. Unbelievably enough, this heart was even more delicious then the previous ones, a lot more so. John was ecstatic over how good it tasted. John felt just like before that his vigor and stamina was back at top, even the wound in his chest healed at an astounding rate. However, contrary to the previous times, this time he could actually feel that his strength was rising. Altogether John was completely fine after eating it, actually he was better than fine. John looked at the horns on the creature and decided that they were worth taking. So with more effort than he expected to have to put into it, he cut of both horns at the root, and held them in his hand. Even though the creature was dead, he could still feel a slight pulsation coming from the horns. Just as he wanted to go find more delicious hearts, *THUMP* he heard a massive heartbeat, louder than any other heartbeat he had heard ever before. Followed by a massive ¡°WAAAAUUUGGHHHHH¡± coming from the forest. John could feel the raw power that was in this bellow, he felt so small and insignificant, like a small candle in a hurricane, ready to be extinguished at any moment. As he continued to stare into the forest he saw something he would never forget, he could just barely see the outline of a heart far, far away deep into the forest. However, this was not just any normal heart it was pitch black and the size of a car. John grabbed Luna and started running with all his might, even after running for a good while he could still feel that massive power pressing down on him from behind. After arriving back at the wolfs cave, John could no longer feel that massive power pressing on him and hoped they had gotten away. ¡°Fuck this, I was wrong, the forest is much scarier than the town, I want to get out of here now¡± John told Luna shaking in left over fear. Luna who had also felt this massive power, had no qualms about getting away from here. Chapter 5 Not as invincible as I thought Chapter 5 Not as invincible as I thought Although they had gotten away for now, they didn¡¯t know if anything was chasing them so they decided to get away from the forest as quickly as possible. John entered the cave while Luna stood outside waiting. I¡¯m worried about Alpha, he got stabbed in the chest but seems to not care much. I want to help him but I don¡¯t know how. I guess I just have to do my best, whenever he needs me Luna thought, worrying over what to do, while somewhat looking over her shoulder to see if something was coming. ¡°I can¡¯t find my clothes¡± John said hurriedly, hoping to get away before something caught up to them. ¡°Where did you leave them?¡± Luna asked with concern and stress in her voice. ¡°I-I don¡¯t remember ever taking them off or putting them anywhere¡± john uttered, high on adrenaline and stressed out. Suddenly he remembered that had in fact never taken them off, however there were no bits of clothes anywhere, nor his rifle. John got an epiphany as he promptly transformed back into a human, suddenly he was standing there 6¡¯5¡¯¡¯ tall with in his old military clothes, with his old rifle on his back. ¡°I was correct, I did never take them off¡± john thought out loud. John was indeed correct, when he transforms, his clothes gets stored somewhere, waiting for him to transform back. ¡°Well that settles that problem, now let¡¯s get the hell out of here¡±. After John made sure all his belongings were safe, he rapidly transformed back into his werewolf form, and this time was a much smoother and quicker change. Instead of being reorganized like a Lego set, it was more like he was a balloon that simply grew bigger, longer and hairier. After completing his transformation, they both raced of out of the forest, with John in the lead. After a short while they arrived at John¡¯s hunting shack, where he hurriedly picked up some bits and bobs he had left earlier. Eventually they made it to the edge of the forest, on top of a hill overlooking the small village, where they felt like they could finally take a breath. Unless he absolutely had to, he was not going back into the forest anytime soon. John transformed back into a human, and said ¡°Luna, you should use your wolf form, at least that way we won¡¯t easily give away our trump card, in case something happens. Also if we go in their looking like crazy beast, I bet every skittish gun totting man in town will start shooting at us. I know a lot of these people they probably won¡¯t shoot us if I stay human¡±. ¡°I understand¡± she replied curtly. They continued walking, eventually arriving at a John¡¯s old beat up house. ¡°Wait here and watch the door, Luna, I¡¯ll just go pick up a few things¡± John told her, Luna simply nodded. She sat down on the porch and with her extremely good vision, scouted the surrounding area. Suddenly *bang bang bang* sounded out loudly from inside the house. It took some time for Luna to process what she just heard, as a wolf she had heard gun shots many times, however, never this close. Once she managed to process the information, she ran inside as fast as she was capable off. After getting inside, time almost froze as Luna spotted John bleeding on the floor, while the assailant stood there pointing his gun towards John. Next to the assailant stood two other men looking smug. In a raging fury, Luna stormed towards the assailant whilst transforming into her werewolf form. While she was mid air, flying towards him, the assailant spotted her and managed to twitch his hand towards Luna and fire a single shot. Luna could almost see the bullet flying towards her, although it gave her a scare, she disregarded it and simply powered on forward. The bullet hit her square in the chest, however it only went in about half an inch, not even enough to cause Luna to feel pain. However, this was definitive evidence that while their skin was tough, it was not bulletproof. After a fraction of a second, Luna arrived in front of the three men and promptly swiped her right arm in a raking motion across the face of the three enemies. The tree men stood there for a moment before their bodies caught of with what happened and gravity took over as they fell backwards. Laying on the ground their, the three men¡¯s face looked like jelly that had been slapped, as most of the nerves in their face had been cut, they couldn¡¯t really make any expressions however, one could tell their bodies were desperately trying. Luna took a moment to enjoy the sight, however she quickly looks at John, she wants to help him, however, she could hear more enemies up stair, and decided that she should secure the whole house before helping John. As she races upstairs, she hears a racket behind the closest door, she breaks the door open with a light push. Only few feet away from her a man laying on top of someone in a bed. Luna simply walks in and as he is about to turn around to see who broke down the door while he was having a good time, she grabs his whole head with one hand. Before he could even manage to let out a scream, Luna has crushed his head killing him instantly, Luna simply throws the dead body to the side and gets ready to kill the other one. However, just as she is about to swipe her hand downwards, she spots the second person in the bed. It¡¯s a woman as one might suspect, however, she is battered and bruised, with tears streaming down her face. She is making a very, soft and sad whimpering as she looks, scared at Luna. Although Luna is not merciful, the kind of whimpering the girl was making, touched a sore spot for Luna, as it reminded her of her own puppers. Deciding against killing the girl she simply turned around and walked over into the next room.Stolen story; please report. As she opens the other door, Luna spots three men playing poker, around the room were several rifles of varying sizes and calibers. The three men were playing poker without a worry in the world, to them, screams and gunshot are a daily occurrence, one of them even wondered when it would be his turn with the girl. Two of them were sitting with their backs against the door and the third was looking at the door. As Luna open the door, the third man got a major fright, as a gigantic hairy beast steps through the door. When Luna spots the three men she rushes forward swiping the two closest with her hand, however, her claws are only 1 ? inch long, so even though she manages to cut their necks she isn¡¯t able to cut them clean off. Of course, Luna doesn¡¯t care, as long as they die. While this was happening the third one reaches for his gun and manages to shoot Luna dead center of her skull. Had he known that an animals strongest defence is their forhead and front skull, especially for werewolves, he probably would have shot somewhere else, alas, Luna would never give him the time to do that. This was definitely not his lucky day, as Luna used one arm to push the table into his stomach which caused the goon to lose his balance. At the same time, Luna grabbed his head and ferociously slammed it into the table, breaking the table in two as well as the mans life. At this point Luna, had gotten out most of her anger, the bullet in her chest had also been pushed out and the wound was starting to heal up. As she was heading back to John, she changed back into a wolf, since being a werewolf was a bit unwieldy, and clumsy inside. After coming down the stairs, Luna looked at John and noticed that he still hadn¡¯t woken up, his wounds weren¡¯t healing like she expected either. She rushes over and tries to wake him up, but no matter how much she tries she can¡¯t a response out of him. Screaming ¡°Alpha!¡± telepathically, several times didn¡¯t help any either. Luna lays down with her head-on Johns lap, I don¡¯t know what to do. I¡¯m so useless, we just meet, yet I already failed you. I promised to serve you for the rest of my life, yet after just a few hours this happened she lamented. Just as Luna was feeling heart wrenching grief, she suddenly feels a hand on her head. ¡°I¡¯m sorry, Luna, Did I worry you?¡± John apologized. When Luna hears his voice all her worries melt away and all she feels is boundless happiness. Looking up at his weakly smiling face, Luna is lost for word and decides to do what all wolves do to show love and trust, she starts licking his face. John simply smiles and pets Luna while she licks his face. Luna has never been petted before, however as John strokes her she understands why dogs love their owners so much. ¡°Don¡¯t worry, Luna, I will be fine. I guess I¡¯m not as invincible as I thought¡± John says self deprecating. Luna and John sit like this for an hour, John smiling, Luna filled with bliss as she is being petted in Johns lap. At this point, Johns wound had mostly stopped bleeding and was starting healing, however it was notably slower than when he was in werewolf form. That¡¯s when they both notice a girl, walking downstairs, of course it is the girl Luna meet earlier. She looks around nervously, before looking at John and the gigantic wolf in his lap. Looking at how jittery, nervous and meek she is, John can guess what has happened to her. Luna tells him telepathically what happened earlier, although he is a bit annoyed at all the blood that is bound to be around his house, he is also touched by Lunas anger by proxy. John looks at the girl ¡°You are welcome to stay if you like¡± he offers. She looks at John and simply shake her head ¡°I have to leave¡± She meekly responds. ¡°Are you sure, it¡¯s dangerous out there¡±. She shakes her head once again, and takes a detour around John, disappearing out the front door at high speed. While John was laying there, relaxing, he thought about what Luna had told him earlier. He looked at the man who had shot him and Luna, he noticed that his gun should be a 9mm, and while a 9mm definitely couldn¡¯t kill them, he was sure that if someone started shooting him with full auto m16¡¯s he would probably die very quickly. He concluded that while going in human form, he was weaker, he was also less of a target. As John was in no shape to move, they both laid there in the same position, until they both eventually fell asleep. The next morning, Luna woke up from John stirring as he woke up. Johns wounds were mostly healed at this point. Next to Lunas cheek there lay three mushed bullets that had been pushed out at some point during the night, despite this his wounds still hurt a bit when walking. John went and found some food the scavengers had stored up. While Luna went, and dragged the dead bodies outside into the backyard, it would after all be troublesome if their bodies started rotting and ruining the house. John and Luna ate breakfast which after they found out human food tasted pretty bland, consisted of scavenger hearts, while watching a pyre of gasoline doused heartless-scavengers burn brightly. Which didn¡¯t bother them one bit. Despite eating almost 4 hearts for breakfast, John''s wounds still did not heal completely, it would seem these read hearts were not even a fraction as good as the purple on at healing wounds. Although John himself didn¡¯t think too closely about it, he had become much more savage, ruthless and apathetic like a wolf, since he came back. Chapter 6 Trouble in terrorist town Chapter 6 Trouble in terrorist town John and Luna started walking out of the house heading for the center of town. In the corner off his eye John spotted, his famished neighbor, looking at them through his window. Although John wasn¡¯t afraid of a normal human, much less a famished on, he was still uncertain whether this person would steal his toilet paper once he left. Of course, there was barely any toilet paper left in this town, the scavengers that had taken residence in his house probably had some though. Also the sight of his neighbor still alive, diminished some of his concerns, since it meant that people were still alive and ¡°well¡± Continuing onwards down the street, the duo eventually made it to a certain store. ¡°Mart-ha¡¯s¡± John almost whispered sadly as he looked at the old beat up mart. Walking inside, John could see some old tin cans of unknown origin, laying on the ground. John was feeling quite melancholic, he had known the sweet old lady called Martha his whole life. Every now and then he would come here with his parents, after getting older he would often come here to buy snacks, and once living by himself he would come here for food. He would see her at least 3 times a week. All the shelves in the store were empty, save for a few bits and bobs here and there. Looking behind the counter where Martha usually stood, donning a sweet smile, he saw a dry dark red puddle of something. As well as spent shell casings laying around collecting dust. The sight of this caused a burning fury to blossom in Johns heart, she was like an aunt to him, yet she was probably executed like a dying dog getting shot in a backyard. John and Luna promptly left the mart, as there was nothing more to gain there. Heading right for the ones who were supposed to keep this from happening, the sheriffs¡¯ office. Arriving in front of the quite large two story building, it looked nothing like how John remembered it. Every window was sealed with large steel plates on the inside, the whole building was riddled with bullet holes. Luckily due to it being a concrete, bullets had mostly no effect, besides removing the top layer of concrete. The front door, which used to be a sliding door had also been reinforced with two large steel plates on each side with only a small door in the middle. John could guess what had happened here, after he left town. John and Luna walked up to the door, at about the height where his eyes are, there is a portion of the door that looks to be able to slide sideways, just enough for someone to see through. John looked at Luna, gesturing here goes nothing and knocked on the door. At first, he heard some whispering inside and then the face slide slid sideways revealing a person looking at him. ¡°Oh, it¡¯s you, I though you died¡± the man said, obviously familiar with John. Although you could see his eyes, John was not able to tell who this was, but he guessed from the lack of bullets raining at him, that they were people from the sheriffs¡¯ office. ¡°Yeah, its me, can I come inn?¡± John asked. The man behind the door, looked at John, or more specifically the rifle on his back, and then at Luna. ¡°leave the dog and the rifle out there¡± the man answered. John felt a bit helpless, however he wanted answers, so he could only comply. ¡°Luna stay here and watch the gun while I go inside, there should be no danger, besides I will be more careful this time¡± John told her, Luna gave him a This feels familiar glance, letting him know of her dissatisfaction with this ongoing plan of splitting the pack. The door promptly opened and John walked inside, to see the familiar face of Sergeant Anderson, who quickly closed the door behind him, followed up by meticulously scouting the outside through the door slit. John was then held at gun point by three people who popped up from behind some overturned desks. Two of the men looked at him sternly, as if he had just tried to rob them, however the third looked at him with eyes wide open in shock, ¡°JOHN!¡± he screamed out in surprise. At which point he ran over and hugged John. ¡°haha John, I though you were dead, my boy, how you been?¡± he asked happily. The other two men took the hint and lowered their guns, but remained vigilant, despite the third mans reaction. ¡°I¡¯ve been good, uncle Oliver. Once I heard gods¡¯ announcement I quickly headed for the woods, since I though things might get rough¡± John responded happily. ¡°Haha, smart boy, smart boy, that probably saved your life, there has been gun fights going on all over the place last few weeks¡± Oliver lamented.Stolen content warning: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. ¡°Yeah, I just came from mart-ha''s, what happened?¡± john asked. ¡°Oh, yeah, that, that happened a few weeks ago, when supplies started drying up, we didn¡¯t know why at the time, but some goons had taken over the highway and were stealing all the supplies and then selling them back other places. Because of that, our little town didn¡¯t get any food, or supplies that we needed. Martha tried to ration what she had so that not one person got everything, however that quickly went wrong as someone shot her and everyone started taking everything she had. Those greedy motherfuckers didn¡¯t give a shit about poor old Martha¡± Oliver responded with fury in his eyes. John had to take some time to digest it all. ¡°What happened to those goons?¡± John asked. ¡°Those highway men? They are still out there, we don¡¯t know exactly where they are, since every time we try to send some to find them, they don¡¯t come back. However, we have found the most likely place they set up shop, we just don¡¯t have the man power to deal with them at the moment. There are several looters and scavengers spread out in town, killing and taking everything they find, which we have to deal with first¡± Oliver answered dispirited. ¡°I see, but can¡¯t you just call for federal backup or something? This place should be teeming with swat teams¡± John asked. ¡°Don¡¯t you think we tried, we called them four weeks ago, asking for backup when the highway men first appeared. The operator told us they would send a team ASAP, however after five days there was nothing, so we called again, this time they said the last team had been diverted to something more critical, and that this next team would definitely make it there. Yet after four more days, there was nothing. So, we called a third time, and they simply said they didn¡¯t have the capability anymore. The fourth time we called which was just last week, the operated answered but he simply said, he was leaving for Washington, every single federal agent capable of holding a weapon got called into Washington. Furthermore, there was no point in calling this number anymore since soon there were not going to be any here to answer it¡± Oliver answered, which at this point looked like a deflated balloon. ¡°Fuck, I didn¡¯t think things were going to go to hell so fast. Oh, and do you know what happened to the man who shoot Martha?¡± John asked with anger in his heart. ¡°Actually, we do, well not specifically, but we think he joined the highway men. I think they are running out of trucks to loot, since they have been doing raids on our town regularly, and I have seen that man among them sometimes. What are you thinking of getting revenge for Martha?¡± Oliver responded. ¡°So, that¡¯s were the bullet holes came from, and yeah, I¡¯m gonna kill those fuckers, not just for Martha, but for this town¡± John responded full of vigor. ¡°I see, well how are you going to do that?¡± Oliver asked unconvinced. ¡°Well I have my dads old R700, that should do some damage¡± John answered, he didn¡¯t really want to give away his biggest trump card just like that, so he kept quiet about his lycanthrope. ¡°Taking them out from a distance huh¡ that could work if you manage to sneak up on them, however I would think you would need something with a little more oomph than a r700. Hang on a minute, I think I have something¡±. Oliver promptly left for another room, where he was making a racket looking for something. Eventually he came back out again with an old dusty, rifle. ¡°This my dear nephew is a L115A3 .338 Lapua, even at 1500 yards this will blow a mans brains right out. As well as 30 rounds for it¡± Oliver smugly proclaimed. ¡°Wow, thanks uncle, this will definitely come in handy, but don¡¯t you guys need this?¡± John asked unsure whether he should have said it. ¡°Mm, we could probably use it however, we haven¡¯t so far, it has just been collecting dust for years, only reason its not filled with rust is because Sarge goes through our armory once a year and oils it all¡± Oliver answered, looking at the gigantic Sergeant Anderson by the steel front door, who simply nods approvingly in their general direction. ¡°Well thanks a lot uncle, I will make sure to kill all those fuckers, I¡¯ll leave my r700 here for safekeep. Oh, do you guys have any gasoline?¡± ¡°Yeah, we got some stashed away, you can have a jerry, since you are doing this for us and the town¡± Oliver responded. ¡°Thanks uncle¡± John said. After a little more catching up, John left with his new rifle and his jerry can of gasoline. Heading back home to get his pickup. Which of course was siphoned for fuel, hence the jerry can was necessary. John had planned to go to the highway men¡¯s hideout and slice them to pieces, however with his new-found mortality, his wounds that were still not healed and the new rifle he just got. John saw no reason to expose himself in that way. With his experience as a marksman in the army as well as the practice he got while hunting in the forest, he felt he could pick them off from a distance. John started up his truck and with the gigantic Luna riding shotgun, they drove off into the distance towards a bloodbath Chapter 7 Highway robbery is so old fashion Chapter 7 Highway robbery is so old fashion John and Luna drove down the highway, going east towards the truck stop that Oliver had pointed out as the possible location where the robbers resided. After a few hours, with some stops to siphon what was left of gasoline in deserted cars, they saw the signs for the truck stop. John figured they would have someone on look out for potential targets as well as aggressors. So, he elected to stop a mile away and park the car. John needed an elevated position to be able to get clean shots on the robbers, luckily there was overpass a couple hundred yards away from the truck stop. With a vantage point figured out, they just needed to find the scout, and kill him without the others finding out. John imagined the scout would be close enough to the stop, so that he could use cheap radios without interference. As they were slowly walking towards the overpass, John spotted something on the other side of the highway, in the forest, a hundred yards ahead. It was a man in a shabby hunting tower, smoking a cigarette looking at the horizon. John quickly hid behind a car, the sight of the scout made him quite happy, because it meant that the robbers were in fact here. ¡°Luna, are you able to get over there and kill him silently?¡± John asked telepathically. Luna glared at him as to say of course I can, before running of towards the forest on the other side of the road. The man either didn¡¯t care about the oversized wolf running across the highway, or didn¡¯t notice it at all. Luna entered the forest directly opposite from where John is standing, and started running towards the tower, staying at the edge of the forest while doing so. Eventually Luna arrived at the tower, the tower was only 10 or so feet high, making it very easy for her, with her new strength, to simply leap up there, and so she did. The scout hadn¡¯t noticed anything at this point, however suddenly he heard a *thump* behind him, and turned around to see a massive jaw right in front of him. Luna directly bit through his throat ruining any chance of him screaming. The Scout produced some gurgling sounds before the massive blood loss killed him. Once John saw the scout disappear from the tower, he knew that Luna had done here job perfectly. He quickly rushed up to the overpass. ¡°Luna, you go a head to the stop and stay hidden, and take care of any stranglers, keep one of them alive¡± John told Luna telepathically which worked even at very long distances, although how long distance, John didn¡¯t know. That was something he would have to test out at some point. John laid down on the ground with his rifle underneath the guard rail and started scouting out the truck stop. This truck stop had rows of semis, trucks and trailers all lined up. To the right of the trucks was a rain roof, covering most of the store and pumps underneath it. The first robbers he saw was three of them sitting around a thrash fire, presumably talking. Seeing that two of them sat opposite to each other, with both of them perfectly aliened for a double shot, John saw an opportunity. However, he couldn¡¯t be to hasty, he wanted to know the full scope of the situation. Looking around further he saw one man tinkering with a truck engine a few yards away from the others. Those were the only ones he could see around here. John could tell through their connection where Luna was, and at this point was just waiting for her to get into a good position. ¡°Luna, I want you to take out the one by the trucks, when you hear my gunshot¡± John told her. ¡°Understood¡± She responded back, with that response John confirmed that they could communicate over longer distances without problem. John lined up the two targets hoping his rifle could kill both in one shot. *Boom* the bullet went flying through the air, looking to be dead on. The bullet came flying, and hit the first robber, in the back, destroying his lunge and going through him like butter, the still had lots of energy left and tumbled through the air, keyholing right through the second robber, managing to shear a main artery. The first one to get hit simply slumped over as the massive amount of kinetic energy sent him straight into shock. The second one was not so lucky, he fell back wards, wheezing for air, while large amounts of blood started filling up his abdomen and also escaping through the keyhole in his stomach. John started working the bolt action just as the third robber realized what happened, and screamed ¡°SNIPER¡± while looking at the open store door. Just as he was about to duck for cover, *boom* John got off another shot which hit him square in the upper arm, going straight through his heart. While all this was happening, Luna had already gotten into a good position. Just as the fourth robber turned around to look at his friends when he heard the shoot, Luna jumped out and bit him in the side of his neck, taking with her most of it. Needless to say, he fell dead on the spot.If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation. John cycled another round in the rifle, getting ready incase there were more robbers, and judging by the third one¡¯s behavior, there definitely was. While looking through the scope, John spotted a man looking through the glass wall of the store, making sure to only show the top part of his head. However, John¡¯s rifle does not care about a glass wall and the thin wood stand that held magazines. John fired a round aiming where he assumed the man¡¯s body was. The loud sound of the shot followed by the shattering of glass, boomed out as the man in the store keeled over. A few feet away from him stood the leader of this ragtag bunch of misfits hiding behind a refrigerator. He looked at his dyeing friend, who was gurgling blood out of his mouth. Needless to say, he was scared shitless. He didn¡¯t even dare to look outside to see where the shoots came from. He looked across too the other side, at the new guy they had taken in just a few weeks ago. Although he was weak, and had very scheming feel to him, he was still useful since he knew the layout of the closest town. However, he was extremely useless right now, he had dropped his gun, pissed himself and was weeping in the corner behind the ice cream fridge. Now it was just the two of them left. The leader felt fear and hopelessness at this situation, he didn¡¯t know what to do. Suddenly he heard snarling behind him, he turned around, only to lay eyes upon a gigantic ferocious beast. almost 5 feet tall standing on all four. He stepped out from behind the refrigerator standing in the open and pointed his gun at the wolf. However, just as he did, he realized his error as he looked to his right, where he saw a few hundred yards away the glinting of John¡¯s sniper scope. He knew that if he did nothing he would be dead in a second, so he directly dropped his gun and yelled ¡°I YIELD¡± and closed his eyes waiting for the shot. However after a second or two nothing happened, he opened his eyes and saw the wolf now was carrying his weapon in its mouth and he hadn¡¯t heard any shots. He felt relief, the sniper must have seen him drop his gun. Luna directly threw away his gun, back into the storage room that she just came from. She snarled more at the leader, making him walk backwards towards the other one that sat in the corner. The leader walked backwards scared out of him mind from this wolf that seemed to have human intelligence and sat down next to the other man. After a few minutes John showed up with his rifle in tow. He looked at the two pitiful men, who had just lost most of their friends. ¡°w-who are you?¡± the leader asked, with fear clearly in his voice. ¡°Oh I¡¯m just a good-natured Samaritan, helping the good people¡± John answered with a smirk. ¡°W-what do you want?¡± he continued to ask, hoping to find a loophole to save his life. ¡°I want to know why you are robbing trucks and raiding towns, as well as where you are taking these supplies¡± John. ¡°W-we stole it, to trade for food, water and bullets. We brought the supplies to bullet town and traded them there¡± he stuttered back. ¡°Bullet town, what¡¯s that?¡± John asked, genuinely curious, he hadn¡¯t head about anything like that before. ¡°It¡¯s the town right over, its ruled by some guy called Warlord Kyle. It used to be called something else but nobody cares about that name anymore¡± the leader continued. ¡°Hmm, where is bullet town?¡± John asked.¡± Y-you just follow the highway, east for about 2 hours and there is a sign by the road, hard to miss¡± The leader responded, clearly with some more spirit in his voice, as he though he might survive this encounter. ¡°Thanks for the information, it was very helpful. Oh and who is newest recruit in this band of misfits?¡± John quizzed him further. The leader clearly looked a bit insulted by that name, however John didn¡¯t care at all. ¡°him¡± the leader said as he pointed at the man next to him. ¡°excellent¡± John said as he lifted his rifle and shot the leader point blank in the chest, who looked at John with a faced filled with mix emotions. Before he died with a heart filled with anger. John though of the phrase ¡°to be merciful to your enemy, is to be ruthless to your friends¡±, even though he could have left the man alive, he feared they were going to wreck more havoc on his little hometown. The man next to him jumped in fright. However, just as he wanted to run away Luna bit his arm and slammed the man down into the floor with her overbearing muscles. ¡°Make him suffer for what he did to Martha¡± John said clearly and loudly as he left, to further push the man into complete despair. John went over to the three dead men by the bonfire and picked up one of their cigarette packs. He hadn¡¯t smoked since the military, however he felt this was the perfect time for a smoke. After a while Luna came out with from the store, around her mouth and places on her pelt were painted with blood. ¡°Well that was easy, I don¡¯t understand how the sheriff couldn¡¯t deal with this gang of idiots¡± John lamented. However, what John didn¡¯t know was that this bunch of robbers, were quite ruthless when they were the ones in control of the situation. Shooting them from a far with a high caliber rifle however, was a very good way to not only kill a lot of them easily, but also frighten them to their very core. John, with Luna in tow headed back towards his hometown before they were going to bullet town, he wanted to tell his uncle that the job was done. As well as return the rifle. Chapter 8 Bullet town Chapter 8 Bullet town John and Luna arrived back at the Sheriffs office. After knocking on the door, they were allowed entrance. The three men including Oliver were sitting around a bonfire cooking a rabbit they had caught earlier. Once Oliver spotted John, he quickly got up and gave him a hug ¡°Ahh, you are alright, I was worried they got you. Did you get them?¡± Oliver asked after letting go. ¡°Yeah, I got them, they are all dead. You were right they were hanging out around that truck stop. Although they seemed like a bumbling bunch of idiots, couldn¡¯t you have taken care of them yourselves?¡± John asked suspicious. Oliver scratched his head ¡°Ahh, well no we, we were to busy here, as I said earlier, there are a lot of looters around these parts just waiting to sink their teeth into our armory¡± Oliver said nervously. John wasn¡¯t convinced and he would be correct in his suspicion. Because these men could have taken out those highway-men, however when there is no one above you to tell you what to do, it gets very hard to risk your life, without gain. So instead of helping the local populous, they instead choose to lock themselves in here only going out to hunt now and then. Some would call this cowardice, and they would be right, however if no one is paying them for their work, do they still have an obligation? Times like these bring out the worst in people. John simply decided to feign ignorance, since he really didn¡¯t care to much, he just wanted to get away from this god forsaken town. ¡°I see, well I guess I will be on my way then¡± John responded. ¡°Leaving so soon? Where too?¡± Oliver asked. ¡°Oh, yeah that reminds me, have you guys heard of a place called bullet town?¡± John answered. Oliver looked at the other men and everyone shook their heads ¡°I don¡¯t think so, where is that?¡± Oliver asked. ¡°Just a couple hours drive southward, well anyways I¡¯m leaving now, here is your rifle.¡± John responded as he gave back the rifle he had been lent. ¡°Thanks, John, I¡¯m sorry we caused you trouble¡± Oliver responded as John picked up his old R700, that one of the men had fetched and left. John and Luna continued driving south, in John¡¯s pickup truck. Although John and Luna could travel in their werewolf form, John didn¡¯t want to, he was still not completely comfortable with traveling in werewolf form. While he had tested out his abilities earlier by running around a lot, he still had not ran continuously for 4 hours at top speed, and he wasn¡¯t sure whether doing just that would drain his batteries, if he had any that is. So, while going in his werewolf form definitely would be smarter, he wanted to make sure that if he met a dangerous situation, he was at top performance. He would have to test this out at some point however now was not the time. Besides you can¡¯t listen to Johnny Cash while running around as a werewolf. John and Luna conversed a bit along the way, about trivial things, though it was mostly John asking or stating, and Luna agreeing. ¡°Alpha why are we going here anyway?¡± Luna suddenly asked out of the blue. ¡°Oh, well I just wanted to drive by and see what this place was, after that I want to go find my sister, I fear that something might have happened to her. However, she has her husband, so I¡¯m not too worried, he¡¯s quite the badass.¡± John responded. ¡°Oh, I see¡± Luna stated After a four or so hours of driving John and Luna saw a massive billboard along the way that. On it there was a bedsheet with ¡°Bullet town¡± painted on it. John took the first exit of the highway. After driving for a while they eventually arrived at another sign, that had a wood board across the previous sign. Of course, the wood board spelled out ¡°Bullet Town¡±. John continued driving and after a short while arrived at a checkpoint. This checkpoint had two guards stationed at each side of road. The checkpoint itself was a bright red and white steel beam going across the road, with a small glass booth next to it, on the left side of the road. However, what surprised John was that on both sides of the checkpoint wood barricades stretched into the forest, going away form the checkpoint. This wood barricade was also clad in steel plates on the lower parts. All in all, it looked very impressive and time consuming to construct something like this. John drove up to the guard who had a AR-15 slung across his shoulder, he didn¡¯t look to fazed about the John and his gigantic wolf, riding shotgun. ¡°Fee please¡± he said, looking extremely bored. ¡°Uh, you want money?¡± John was confused, from what he had seen so far money had no value, since there was no government enforcing said money anymore. ¡°No, idiot, bullets. Are you new here or something?¡± the guard said a bit annoyed that some guy who didn¡¯t understand the rules came by. ¡°Oh well, how much is the fee?¡± John asked confused. ¡°Depends on what you have, bullets have different values¡± the guard answered, even more annoyed. He obviously had better things to do than explain this, like sleep. ¡°Alright well here I have some .308 rounds.¡± John said as he handed over a single round. ¡°yeah, whatever that¡¯ll do¡± the guard said, while already lifting the roadblock up allowing access to the town. John made sure to speed through, he was expecting the guard to drop the road block any minute. Eventually he made it through and on the inside, he saw a town that looked far better than his hometown. After just a few feet however, there was another road block, however this was the concrete kind, he was not allowed to drive down this road. John followed the signs to a parking lot on the left side. They both left the car and started walking down the main road. After a little of walking past empty stores and sagging buildings. They eventually arrived at what seemed like a bazaar. There were hundreds of people walking around looking at different stalls.Reading on Amazon or a pirate site? This novel is from Royal Road. Support the author by reading it there. Nobody, paid much attention to John, besides the few glances people gave Luna. However, he noticed that almost every single person here was wearing some kind of weapon, be it homemade rifles, AR-15s, different versions of SCARs, even fully automatic rifles like the m416 or m16s. John now understood why this place was called bullet town, since everyone here had tons of guns and bullets. At this point, John felt happy that he hadn¡¯t barged in here as a werewolf, or he surely would have been shoot until he looked like swiss cheese. John continued walking forward looking at all the stalls, there were vegetables, fruits, meat, even candy and other vanity items however the prices for those were outrageous. However, they had most of the things one needed for survival, which is as good as it gets in these far-out places. John continued to look around until he spotted a what he could assume is a blacksmith. Having worked with steel for over five years of his life, he knew quite a bit about steel, despite hating his job at the mill. He walked up the blacksmith, who was hammering on something. ¡°Hello¡± John said. The blacksmith stopped hammering and looked at John ¡°G¡¯day, can I help you Mr.¡?¡± the blacksmith responded. ¡°Oh, my name is John, and you?¡± John responded. ¡°Mm, nice meeting you John, I¡¯m Dave¡± Dave answered, obviously in a good mood. ¡°Nice to meet you to, Dave, what are you working on?¡± John quizzed. ¡°Oh, this? I don¡¯t know what it is However it is some kind of metal that the boys in the mines found. They sent it over to me since they couldn¡¯t tell what it was¡± Dave responded. ¡°Oh, is that so? I used to work at a steel mill, mind if take a look?¡± John asked, with quite a lot of interested, as there were few types of steel he hadn¡¯t seen in his life. ¡°Sure, go ahead, but I don¡¯t think you will have much luck, since this ain¡¯t steel.¡± John looked at Dave a bit perplexed, what did he mean this wasn¡¯t steel? However just as John leaned in to look at the steel he noticed that the oversized hammer that was In Dave¡¯s hand disappeared. He was wholly confused and looked at Dave puzzled. ¡°What, you never seen a spirit tool before?¡± Dave asked, like this was the most obvious thing in the world. ¡°No, I haven¡¯t, what is it?¡± John asked with a face full of confusion. ¡°Well I¡¯m not entirely sure what it is either, however I know that it comes from God¡± Dave answered. ¡°Before Gods started changing things, I worked as a blacksmith for 30 years. However, after God announced his change, one day my favorite hammer just disappeared. However, I could feel it inside me, like my hammer was part of me and that is what I have figured out so far. Spirit objects are things that become a part of you for some reason¡± Dave added. ¡°Incredible, so you can just pull it out whenever?¡± John asked, with gusto. Dave gave a broad smile before he answered ¡°Yeah, however it gives me a lot more goodies than just that. At first when you came here and claiming to know something about steel, I though you were joking, but I see now that you really did not know. Whenever I hammer on something, I gain knowledge about it, this way I can tell the exact chromium, vanadium, carbon, etc. content of a steel type, very useful stuff. However, this piece of metal here, I can tell its not made of iron, but something else. Yet, the more I hammer it, the more I feel like its missing something, even though this material is much stronger than any other metal on earth, I can¡¯t do anything with it. There is like there is something missing from it. However, the more I hammer the more knowledge I get, but no matter how much I hammer all I see is just the outline of some pointy purple thing¡± John thought about what Dave had just said, however when he though about the last sentence he realized something. John quickly started looking through his back pack. Where he found the four pieces of two sword like purple crystals that had been snapped when he ran away from that extreme pressure, it couldn¡¯t be this easy he wondered. He quickly brought one out, and showed it to Dave ¡°Did it look like this?¡± ¡°Oh lord, that¡¯s it, where did you find that!?¡± Dave asked with excitement clearly in his voice. ¡°I killed some strange creature in the forest, however I would advice against going there. There are a lot of dangerous creatures in there that snap you like a twig¡± John answered with some lingering fear. John brought out the rest of the pieces. However, when Dave saw them, he got a bit dejected. ¡°ah, shoot, they are broken? For this to work properly they have to be whole, or at least that¡¯s the feeling I¡¯m getting. However, they should still be able make some subpar items or at least combining the two will give me more information to work of off. While they are broken, I will give you 10 .50cal m2 rounds for all of the pieces¡± Dave answered. Either he was a very honest man or he was a very good salesman, but john didn¡¯t mind, even though he had no idea what 50cal rounds were worth, they had to be worth quite a bit. John accepted the deal. At this point it was starting to get late and most of the stalls were closing. ¡°Say, Dave you don¡¯t know where I could get some sleep?¡± John asked. ¡°Yeah, sure just walk down that road and you will find an inn, that has nice beds and warm food¡± Although John could sleep on the street or in some of the abandoned buildings, he decided against it, since most of them were old, moldy and looked like shit. He also wanted to sleep in a nice bed for once. As well as most of the good buildings had already been taken by the local populace. Of course, if the prices were ridiculous he would rather sleep on the street. John and Luna arrived at the inn with no problems and got a room with no food, for just 5 9mm rounds which is the same as half a 308. The innkeeper didn¡¯t seem to care about Luna at all, she simply said if she shits inside, John would have to wash it, or reimburse them. Luna was a little offended by the idea that she would shit on the floor, but didn¡¯t show it. John realized now that the guard at the entrance might have scammed him, however, he wasn¡¯t to fuzzed about it since he still had another 48 .308 rounds, as well as ten m2 rounds and five 9mm rounds. Chapter 9 Warlord Kyle Chapter 9 Warlord Kyle John woke up in the comfortable bed after a good night sleep, with Luna laying at the end of the bed, taking more space than John. John got dressed, and although there was no water in the faucet, the innkeeper had given him a basin filled with water last night. Using it he washed up. John left with his rifle on his back, still wearing his military clothes, although they looked kind of stupid, no one could deny how strong and rugged they were. With Luna in tow, John left for the main street. John arrived at the main street after a short while. He went directly over to Dave, who was already up and working on the mysterious metal. ¡°Hello Dave, did you figure something out already?¡± John inquired, interested. ¡°Oh, hey John, I did in fact figure some things out. Firstly, this metal is apparently called Ocharicilum, weird I know. Secondly, take a look at this¡± Dave said as he handed John what looked like a dagger. ¡°Although I couldn¡¯t make a sword with the pieces you gave me, I can make one of these daggers. I did some testing last night, and I figured out that the crystals by themselves aren¡¯t fazed by even the most volatile fire, however when I put in both the metal and the crystals, they melted like butter on a piece of toast and soaked into the Ocharicilum. Once it did, the Ocharicilum became really malleable. However, I almost had to work on it inside the forge it kept losing heat so fast, and I got the feeling that if I let it cool down I would never be able to work on it again. So, I very quickly beat this dagger to form, and it came out quite well¡± John, inspected the dagger, which at this point was just a piece of metal with no handle or ornamentals. John lightly pressed it against his upper forearm. ¡°Hey careful, it is extremely sharp!¡± Dave warned. When John removed the knife, blood started seeping through slowly, despite John only having lightly tapped his arm. ¡°Wow, you weren¡¯t bluffing¡± John said in amazement. ¡°No shit, Sherlock¡± Dave answered slightly annoyed, that John hadn¡¯t taken him seriously. However, as Dave looked at John, or more specifically his arm, he noticed that it had already stopped bleeding and if he didn¡¯t know any better he would say it was already healing. ¡°You, are you¡?¡± Dave asked subtly, John looked at him and gave him a knowing wink. ¡°Who is the one in control of this place anyway?¡± John tried to gloss over what just happened. ¡°Uh, oh, that would be Kyle or Warlord Kyle as some call him. If you want to see him, just walk down this road until you reached the mayors office¡± Dave answered. John nodded with a smile and walked away. Eventually John reached a fairly tall building, it was the tallest building around. Outside stood two men with ARs. ¡°hey stop¡± when John was right in front of the door, he got reprimanded. ¡°I am here to see Kyle¡± John answered. The guards looked at each other. One of them reached for a walkie-talkie on his shoulder. ¡°Uh, boss, there is a guy here who wants to meet you¡± the guard spoke into his walkie-talkie. ¡°Tell him I have some information he might be interested in¡± John said. ¡°He says he has info for you¡± the guard continued. John could hear some garble coming out of the walkie, however he couldn¡¯t tell what was said. ¡°alright, go a head, take the stairs, the elevator doesn¡¯t work¡± John swiftly arrived in front of a large double door, with Luna in tow, it seems they don¡¯t care about wolves in this town. John knocked on the door, to be polite. ¡°Come in¡± he heard from inside the room. Inside the room, the sealing was very far up, on both sides there were large paintings. However, what caught his eye, was the astounding amount of arms and ammo around. Almost every corner was filled with boxes of ammo with loads of guns leaning against them. In the middle of the room there was a large desk, behind it sat a quite handsome man, with short brown hair and strong eyes, truly a fierce leader. He was wearing a green shirt and denim pants. ¡°Good day, Mr.?¡± Kyle asked, ¡°John¡± John responded. ¡°well nice to meet you John, I am Kyle, now what brings you to my humble abode?¡± Kyle asked with interest. ¡°Well for the short while I have been her, I noticed that you have a lot of weapons and ammo. However, do you mine for the metal to make these things?¡± John asked, hoping that his guess was correct, John knew that there are some people mining somewhere, however he couldn¡¯t be sure what they were mining for. Kyle looked inquisitively at John ¡°We do indeed, what about it?¡±.The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings. ¡°Well my hometown, incidentally has a not only an iron mine, but also a steel mill, there should be literal tons of steel laying around, since everyone abandoned it¡± John answered. Kyles eyes suddenly light up with excitement, he almost seemed too happy about the prospect of several tons of steel laying around. ¡°That¡¯s great, how far away is it?¡± Kyle asked with gusto. ¡°Only about a two hour drive¡± John answered with a smile. ¡°Fantastic, how come I haven¡¯t heard anything about this before!?¡± Kyle pondered angrily out loud. ¡°Ah, well my hometown is quite small and remote, not many know it exists¡± John answered. ¡°I see¡± Kyle answered. ¡°would you like a cigarette? I feel like I need a cigarette to celebrate right now¡± Kyle remarked happily. ¡°Sure¡± John answered with a smile. All three stood outside on the large balcony, which had several static gun emplacements, consisting of DSHKMs, M2s and M240s. On the balcony, John and Kyle could see across the whole town, which wasn¡¯t very big, one could see the town entrance only a 150 or so yards away. There were some sparse forest here and there, however most of the town was surrounded by open plains and fields being used to plant food. ¡°Ah, I do love a drag of the old poison stick once in a while¡± Kyle remarked, while enjoying his cigarette. ¡°Oh, by the way, what is the wood barricade, do you have problems with animals?¡± John asked, remembering that creature in the forest and shuddering a little. ¡°ah no, that¡¯s for¡¡± however just as Kyle was about to answer, suddenly the local church¡¯s bell started ringing. For a brief moment, Kyle had a face full surprise, but not the good kind. ¡°ENEMY ATTACK¡± was suddenly screamed out by someone. Kyle started rapidly scouting around the plains and fields looking for something. On the left side of his vision John spotted a bunch of people running across the field. John looked over and started focusing. What he saw surprised him mightily. Not only were the people running across the field, incredibly skinny, their skin was also a pale gray color. Since this was only a 100 or so yards away he could tell that none of them were carrying any conventional arms. However, on their fingers, they appeared to have long slender claw like nails. Kyle¡¯s eyes followed where John was looking, and saw the creatures. Fury was stirring in his eyes, he obviously did not like that these things were knocking on his front door. Kyle raised his right arm, which promptly started transforming, getting longer and thinner. Until eventually his whole right arm had turned into a gigantic, long gun barrel. *CHUNK, CHUNK, CHUNK* sounded out as Kyle started shooting his shoulder gun. John jumped a little from the sound, and turned over to Kyle, the sight of his gun arm, surprised John a lot. ¡°What the hell are you¡± John shouted. ¡°I¡¯m a gun man¡± Kyle answered with a stern look, he would have probably said it with a laugh at any other point in time, however now was not the time to laugh. John looked as the gigantic shells flew out hitting the ground next to the creatures and exploding on impact, shredding the closest creatures to bits. ¡°What the hell are those things¡± John yelled, while Kyle continued shooting. ¡°Vampire spawns¡± Kyle yelled back. John¡¯s eyes went wide as he yelled¡± There are vampires!?¡±. ¡°Yeah, as far as we can tell, those things are unfortunate people that have been turned into vampire spawn. We don¡¯t know exactly where the vampire is, however we know he is close to Wellspring¡± John took a second to process this information. Wait wasn¡¯t Wellspring where his sister lived. John added 2 and 2 together. His eyes turned blood red as he realized. His anger alone made him spontaneously transform. Kyle was mightily surprised as a 9 foot tall werewolf suddenly was standing next to him, and he stopped firing. However, before he could do anything John had already left. When John had realized, what could have happened, Luna could feel his burning anger like a sun, it was so strong it had even made her transform spontaneously. She quickly followed John, running east, towards the creatures. John was so furious it had blinded him has he continued running southward, only occasionally swiping a vampire spawn that got in his way. As such John and Luna raced across the fields, at close to 70 mph. ¡°What the fuck was that?¡± Kyle remarked stunned, before he continued shooting vampire spawns. He could barely see John and Luna disappear into the forest heading for Wellspring. Chapter 10 Wellspring Chapter 10 Wellspring John and Luna raced off into the forest away from Bullet town. John was overflowing with grief, anger and fury. The thought of someone harming his sister filled him with fury. Despite the rough childhood John had, he still loved her. When John was young, their family could only afford to send one of them to college, and they decided to send his older sister there. John resented her for this, of course he also had dreams and aspirations, however, left with no other choices, John went of to the military. Like so many other young adults with no other options in life. Alice, his sister had good grades, and did well in college, and eventually became a lawyer. After getting her degree, she moved to her boyfriend¡¯s hometown, where they eventually got married. John, was still in the military at this point and didn¡¯t show up. He blamed it on his inability to get leave, however, somewhere in his heart he knew he still resented his sister for what had happened. Yet, when his mother died in a car crash, and his father died form cancer not long after, John almost became a full time alcoholic. He wouldn¡¯t leave his house, and just continued to wallow in his grief and drown himself in alcohol. Even though both him and his sister showed up for their parent¡¯s funerals, they still didn¡¯t speak much. However one day his sister came by and told him, how sorry she was. John wasn¡¯t a man to cry easily or at all. However, that day they both cried rivers. After both his parents passed away, he understood that family was still important, and now the only one he had left was his uncle who would come by now and then, and his sister. Even though he understood this, he didn¡¯t know how to approach his sister, he had resented her for so long, he wondered if she would even forgive him. However, she had understood and had taken the initiative. After that day, they got along much better and would celebrate holidays together. Now that they had made up and were on good terms, someone had taken her away from him? Absolutely not! John¡¯s fury was almost tangible as he ran through the forest as fast as his body would allow him. In his fury he even forgot about Luna and left her behind. While Luna didn¡¯t want to get left behind, there was nothing she could do, she just had to keep running as fast as she could so that she could at least not lag behind to much. Eventually John started seeing fields and fences. Event though this town was much larger then John¡¯s hometown, there were still agriculture going on, although not now. John continued running towards the town center. He had visited his sister quite a few times and knew approximately where Alice¡¯s house is. At this point John¡¯s fury had cooled down a bit, as he tried to use his heartbeat sensor, however as expected he could not see anything. John didn¡¯t think the town was empty however, he was pretty sure his heartbeat sensor didn¡¯t work on humans. Why else would John just strut into his own house without a worry? Of course because he had already checked the house with his sensor and hadn¡¯t seen anyone inside. He had payed a painful price for his confidence. He was not making that mistake again. John was still full of fury, but he had enough sense to be careful as he raced of towards his house. Luna could of course tell where John was, so she simply followed after from a distance. Even with John¡¯s superb vision he couldn¡¯t see anyone in the town, it was eerily empty. Even though John didn¡¯t notice them, didn¡¯t mean there wasn¡¯t something lurking in the shadows. John eventually made it to his sister¡¯s house and directly crushed the door open, fearing the worst. Inside there was dust everywhere, most things inside were untouched. John raced through the house, breaking door ways as he went. In the kitchen he saw a knife with old dried dark blood on it. John¡¯s fury blossomed like a flower made of anger. He raced upstairs to his sister¡¯s bedroom. As expected, it was empty. The whole house was eerily empty. However, just as he was about to look further, Luna chimed in telepathically ¡°Alpha there are people outside, I think they are after you¡±. John quickly made his way outside, where he saw seven people standing in the drive way 10 or so yards away. Luna was stationed on top of a house not far away. They hadn¡¯t spotted her yet. ¡°Look what the cat dragged in, an ugly beast¡± the man in the middle said with an ugly smirk. He had long silver hair, a black, white striped suit, a very narrow and pointy face, and he was very skinny as well. However, the six men next to him, looked more like zombies, they had the same build, skinny bodies and pointy faces but their faces and hair looked ravaged, like they had fought a lot. There was also a distinct lack of intelligence in their eyes. They looked exactly the same as the one that had attacked Bullet town. ¡°Who are you!?¡± John asked angrily. ¡°Who am I doesn¡¯t concern you, however, you being in the Kazan bratva¡¯s territory does¡± he said with an ugly smile in a broken Russian accent. ¡°Luna, you take care of those things, the one in the middle is mine¡± John told Luna. ¡°If you wont tell me, then I will beat it out of you¡± John retorted with fury in his eyes, before shooting out at top speed towards the man in the middle. Seeing this massive beast flying at him, gave the Russian gangster quite the scare, however he quickly adjusted himself. ¡°protect me¡± he told the vampire spawn. However he suddenly sensed something from behind, and promptly turned around, where he saw Luna flying towards him as well. Another one?! He thought, this wasn¡¯t a good situation, he could deal with one beast but two? That he wasn¡¯t sure of. However before he got time to think, John was already in his face, slicing his massive claws straight towards his head. It was much faster than he had expected, he managed to just barely duck before the massive claws, came swiping above his head. Shit, this guy is a pure evolved? I thought he was just some henchman, this is bad! The gangster though, He was starting to panic now. With his powers he had been uncontested, for so long against anyone except his boss, nobody could hurt him. However, just from this first exchange he could tell that this beast was much more powerful than him. Luckily, he wasn¡¯t very good at fighting.Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Mikhail, had grown up on the street with no money and no power. He had to fight tooth and nail, for even a scrap of bread. However that had all changed when he managed to get some money and came to the US and joined the Kazan bratva. They had given him power, respect and money, and now the bratva had given him even more power, power beyond any human, or so he thought. Mikhail tried to get some swipes in with his long thin claws, however every time he got close, John¡¯s claws would come swiping towards his head. Behind him Luna had already take care of four of the vampire spawns. However, that moment of carelessness cost him dearly as John¡¯s right hand connected to his skull, sending him flying to the left into a house wall. John followed in hot pursuit, Mikhail, had four long gashes on the side of his head, which was beating and hurting like nothing he had ever experienced before. Suddenly a massive hand pick him by the neck. Mikhail tried to cut the hand, however, John was having none of his shit, and promptly ripped off Mikhail¡¯s left arm. His right arm had been knocked out of it¡¯s socket, when he hit the house wall. Mikhail started screaming from the pain. Even for him, who had grown up on the tough streets of Russia, still couldn¡¯t keep his calm when faced with this level of pain. However, John started squeezing his neck, quickly making it very hard for him to scream. ¡°Who are you and where are the people of this town?¡± John asked angrily. ¡°ack, *cough*, the ones still alive, are in a warehouse south of the town¡± he managed to squeeze through his almost crushed windpipe. Even though, Mikhail was a tough gangster, there was a point where even the toughest of men would give, after all, everyone values their own lives. ¡°Thank you for your cooperation¡± John said with an evil smile, before he showed his hand into the mans chest and ripped out his heart. Mikhail¡¯s eyes went wide as he for a brief moment saw his own heart in John¡¯s hand, before he died with disbelief in his eyes. John quickly threw the small heart into his mouth and swallowed. This heart wasn¡¯t particularly good, it tasted tainted. However, John couldn¡¯t deny the benefits, as he quickly felt much stronger, however, he was still not at the point where he had been before he transformed Luna. It turns out sharing your bloodline is extremely costly. John turned around to help Luna, however she was already done with the vampire spawns. Even though Luna wasn¡¯t as strong as John, she could still beat a couple of stick figure zombies. ¡°let¡¯s go, we have to find my sister¡± John told Luna solemnly. John and Luna raced of towards the south, although Mikhail had been very general in his description. John still knew where he meant, since he would drive by the signs showing an industry area was ahead, when going to visit his sister. John and Luna quickly found the main road going out of Wellspring, where they found a gravel road going of into the forest. Although they could have gone straight south, it was safer to follow the road so they didn¡¯t miss the warehouse. At the front gate, there was a few normal humans with guns. Of course, John and Luna made quick work of them. John used some ¡°Enhanced¡± interrogation techniques on one of them and quickly found out where the majority of prisoners were held. John and Luna made their way there and found a bunch of people locked in all kinds of things. Some with chains, some with police cuffs, and some stuffed in containers. However, Alice was not there, although John was by no means a hero, he still felt sorry for these people, so he quickly sliced their chains keeping them locked up. As well as let out the ones in side containers. The prisoners started running all directions hoping to make it out alive. However, in one container, he noticed a small fragile girl, she looked so weak and frail. Wasn¡¯t she the one that was in his house? This poor girl had gone from one shitty situation to another. She was dirty and unconscious. John could feel that Luna felt grief and anger when looking at this weak girl. ¡°Luna, you take her with you, I will go find Alice¡± John stated. He didn¡¯t want this little girl to suffer anymore. John rushed off to the other parts of the warehouse while Luna was letting the rest of the people out, and helping the young girl. John quickly searched through, the empty floors, until he made it too the top floor. This floor looked like your average warehouse office. Wood floor, wood walls, a few desks here and there. However there was a back room here. John quickly made his way over and smashed the door inn. The heavy door, flew across the room and hit a man, sitting in a chair next to table. The man and the door, flew across the room and hit the wall. Opposite of the table sat another man, that looked very similar to Mikhail, his features were virtually the same. However, they looked different at the same time. John realized this man was the same type of enemy as the man he had meet earlier. John quickly made his way over. Alexi, quickly realized this massive beast, was after him. In an attempt to save himself he flipped the table up towards John. However, he had underestimated him. John fiercely punched his hand through the flimsy table and managed to grab around the throat of Alexi and punched his other hand through the table straight towards Alexi¡¯s face. Everything happened so quickly Alexi had barely time to react. The fist came flying through the table, hitting him square in the face, and because of John holding him back, the full force of the punch went straight into his head and neck. This punch carried with it Johns massive strength and almost knocked out Alexi. As as result of the two incredibly powerful punches the flimsy table directly fell apart. The man who got knocked over by the table, was just a normal human so he had been directly knocked out by the heavy door hitting him square in the head. John looked around and saw the man behind the door, however, he also spotted something else. On the opposite side of the room, a woman was sitting on the floor against a wall, with both her hands raised up and chained to the wall. As John saw the woman, all his worries disappeared, he could tell that she was still breathing. This was of course, his sister. However, he could tell all around her neck were puncture marks. His fury rose, as he started beating the shit out of Alexi. Alexi who was still dizzy after the first punch, was defenseless and was promptly beaten to a pulp. After John got out most of his anger. He ripped Alexi¡¯s heart out of his chest, not only to make sure he was truly dead, but also to enjoy the spoils. He quickly rushed over to his sister and ripped the chains out of the wall. He carefully picked up his sister who seemed so fragile, if he wasn¡¯t careful he might break her. John hurried out of the building before meeting up with Luna. With each of them carrying a fragile woman they both rushed of back towards Bullet town. In his hurry to get back to bullet town, to find someone who could help his sister, John had forgotten to properly clean up. The man behind the knocked over door woke up and saw his bleeding, heartless friend that he had just been playing poker with. He quickly rushed outside and got into the closest car and drove off. He had to tell the boss about this guy who was able to kill a dhampir like they were ragdolls. Chapter 11 Overwhelming fury Chapter 11 Overwhelming fury John and Luna, followed the highway back towards Bullet town, it was the only place John knew about that might have a doctor. They eventually made it Bullet town without incident. The gate guards, saw these two monsters running at top speed down the road. They tried to lift their weapons in their fluster, however, John was already past them before they could get a clear shot. ¡°Boss, Boss, two werewolves carrying two women, ran through the gate¡± One guard managed to bumble through his walkie-talkie. ¡°What color? One black, the other blue¡± The guard answered. ¡°Just let them go? Are you sure boss? Ok.¡± The guard reaffirmed what he was told. John and Luna raced through the main square, when they got in sight of the local populace, just about everyone and their grandma raised their weapons, aiming at John. However, one guard at the side chimed in ¡°Let them go, these are friends of Kyle¡± he shouted. John nodded to the guard, before racing of towards the mayor¡¯s office. John made it to the front door of the office, where Kyle stood waiting. ¡°We need a doctor, right now!¡± John said, panicked. ¡°follow me¡± Kyle kept his cool, despite the frightening size of John. Kyle quickly led them to a building up the street a few yards. ¡°Doc, we have to people that need urgent care¡± Kyle told the man behind the desk, inside the building. At this point, John and Luna had changed back to human and wolf form. Kyle took the other girl from Luna, and carried her. ¡°Follow me¡± the doctor said, while taking a quick look at the two women. The four of them entered a barrack like building, with several beds lined up against the walls. Some of the beds were taken by people that have gotten hurt. The doctor led them to two empty ones. ¡°Quickly put them down¡± he commanded. John and Kyle, did as they were told and put down both the women, on beds next to each other. ¡°How are they doc¡± Kyle asked, ¡°let me have a look first will you?¡± the doctor sternly replied. Kyle simply grimaced. After a while, the doctor was done looking. ¡°Well, it looks good, the young girl only needs some saline and rest. The other one, not so much, she will need blood plasma. Luckily, I have some laying in the cooler, it should still be good¡± the doctor said with a sigh. Although electricity was hard to come by, the doctor was one of the only ones who had it, since alot of medicine needed to be stored cold. ¡°Thank you doctor¡± John answered, a little teary eyed. ¡°Come one John, the doc will take care of them, they are in good hands now¡± Kyle reaffirmed John. ¡°Mm¡± John nodded. John, Luna and Kyle were sitting in the mayor¡¯s office. ¡°So, what happened, exactly and are you a werewolf?¡± Kyle asked with interest. ¡°Yeah, we are both werewolves. Concerning what happened earlier. When you said, the vampire was close to Wellspring, I got a bad feeling, I suddenly felt anger and hatred flowing through me. I feared something had happened to my sister. So, I rushed off towards Wellspring, fearing the worst. Luckily, I made it there in time. They were keeping a bunch of people captured, so I let them all loose and killed the rest¡± John answered. ¡°So, that¡¯s what happened. We knew about them kidnapping people for wellspring. However, we couldn¡¯t do anything about it. I am the only combat oriented evolved person in town. I believe you have meet Dave, he is also evolved, however, he can¡¯t fight for shit. Any time I tried to go to Wellspring to help, the vampire would send hordes of those things at my Bullet town. I couldn¡¯t just leave the people here. So, every time they go to capture more people from Wellspring they send out a horde of those things, to keep me busy. I fucking hate them¡± Kyle lamented. ¡°Wait, what do you mean by evolved?¡± John asked, with confusion written on his face. ¡°Oh, that¡¯s just what we have come to call those who have powers, like me, you, Dave, and that wolf of yours. Usually people who have obtained their powers by themselves are called pure evolved, and those who were gifted it are called un or non-pure evolved. I am guessing that wolf of yours is a non-pure evolved?¡± Kyle answered. ¡°Yeah, she is, and her name is Luna¡± John answered a little annoyed. ¡°anyway, what are you gonna do now?¡± Kyle asked. ¡°Once my sister wakes up, I am gonna kill whoever is in charge. I killed two silver haired guys, but they were to weak to be the boss of this operation¡± John answered with fury in his eyes. Kyle was surprised when he heard this, John had killed two of the gangster enforcers? Kyle realized John was much stronger then he expected, seeing as he had no wounds from fighting. You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story. Even though John wanted to head out right away, and find the boss, he restrained himself. He needed to know that Alice was ok. John and Kyle continued talking about different things. Sharing knowledge about their powers. Even though these two men had just meet a little while ago, they still trusted each other. Kyle told John about his power in more detail. Each day Kyle had a certain amount of bullets he could shoot, that amount of bullets depended on how much metal he had eaten. Yes, eaten, he ate metal. Although he says eat, it was more like shoving pieces of metal into his chest, where it just disappeared. The amount of metal he consumed, dictated how many bullets he could shoot. However, he could also take out bullets from his chest and give them to other people. Although if he did that, he wouldn¡¯t get those bullets back the next day, unless he ate more metal. This power was incredibly bizarre. He also didn¡¯t get any weapons, he had to find them himself. Luckily, Kyle was a gun nut and owned a personal arsenal of weapons. Even the 37mm anti air cannon that came out of his shoulder was his own cannon. Even though he had bigger guns, he couldn¡¯t make ammunition for them nor absorb them. John and Kyle continued talking until it got late. Some other place not far from Bullet town, a man pulled into a horse shoe shaped complex of buildings. This was of course the same man who was hit by a door in the slave warehouse. He quickly rushed to the centermost building. Outside a big double door, sat a silver haired man, who looked very similar to the ones John had killed. ¡°I need to talk to the boss, its urgent¡± he told the silver haired man. The silver haired man saw the mans bloodied face and felt this might really be urgent. He led the man inside. The room they entered was very lavish, beautiful curtains, red carpet, a fire place cracking and a gigantic painting of Georgy Zhukov, in full military clothes was on display. Behind a large desk, sat a tall slender man, with blood red hair and a sharp face. all around him a bloody aura emanated, and gave everyone who saw him goose bumps. He sat there sipping on a wine glass filled with dark red liquid. The man, quickly takes of his cap and holds in front of his chest in an old timey fashion. ¡°Pakhan Molotov¡± he said. Molotov stared at his glass, and slowly looked up at the man who was standing there meekly. ¡°§Õ§Ñ, what is it?¡± he answered. ¡°S-some one raided our warehouse and stole all the slaves, he even killed Alexi¡± the man stammered out. ¡°What!¡± Molotov almost shouted as he slammed his fist in the table, making a sizable dent in it. ¡°Who did this?¡± he asked with anger clearly visible. ¡°I don¡¯t know, he threw the door at me, and knocked me out. When I got to, Alexi¡¯s face was beaten to a mush and whoever killed him also ripped out his heart¡± he continued. ¡°Shit. Mikhail has not reported back yet, I can only assume he is also dead, as they both were in Wellspring. We need to find out who did this. Call the Sovietnik and the Obshchak, tell them to come here immediately. We need to reinforce this position. Whoever raided Wellspring will surely come here soon enough, and set up some scouts on the highway, I want to know who comes and goes¡±. Could this be the union? It shouldn¡¯t be, but I need to be open to the possibility. Molotov thought. John and Kyle continued sharing information, until it got late. John left for the doctor¡¯s office, and wanted to check up on Alice. However, she was still unconscious but the doctor assured John she should wake up soon. She just needed to get some energy back. John with Luna in tow, left for the same inn that he had slept at earlier. After a restless sleep, he and Luna went to the doctor, although Alice hadn¡¯t woken up yet, the doctor allowed John to stay by her side for now. John wanted to be there for her when she woke up. Which the doctor estimated to be soon. The other girl however, had already woken up, however she was to weak to leave the clinic just yet. So, she stayed in her bed, drinking water and nibbling at some cold potatoes. John sat there for a good while, waiting, somewhat begging. Suddenly Alice started stirring. John held her hand, making sure she knew she was safe. She opened her eyes, which were filled with bewilderment and fear. However, she noticed she wasn¡¯t in her dirty clothes and she was laying on soft and comfy bed. Then she saw John and started tearing up, crying softly. John comforted her, as best he could. After a brief moment, she understood that she had been rescued. However, suddenly she started getting hysterical ¡°Where is Jonathan, my Jonathan, where is he!?¡± she started almost screaming. John didn¡¯t know what she was talking about, her husband¡¯s name was Mark. ¡°Where is he, my son!?¡± she screamed. Suddenly all the pieces fell in place. ¡°Alice, shh, calm down¡± John said with notable sadness in his voice. ¡°Did they take him?¡± John asked. Alice looked at John with crazy eyes filled with anger, sadness and heart wrenching grief. ¡°Yes, they took him, my boy, Jonathan¡± she said in-between sobs and tears. John could feel that all too familiar fury, rising in his heart. They had taken his nephew, and done god knows what to him. John was so furious he could explode. ¡°I promise I will get him back!¡± John said sternly, before leaving. He was going to make these bastards feel pain. Chapter 12 Overwhelming grief Chapter 12 Overwhelming grief John didn¡¯t know what to do, even though he knew where the Russian¡¯s had kept their slaves, he still didn¡¯t know where their main base of operations is. John stormed of with Luna in tow, towards Kyle. ¡°Kyle¡± John said as he opened the door, to Kyle¡¯s office. ¡°Mm?¡± Kyle answered nonchalantly. ¡°We have to find the rest of the gangsters, they took my sisters son, my nephew¡± John angrily said. ¡°I hear you but how are we supposed to find them? The vampire spawn are completely braindead, so they won¡¯t say anything, and we don¡¯t know about anyone who knows where they might be¡± Kyle lamented. Even though this was mostly John¡¯s personal crusade, Kyle still wanted to help, since the enemy of your enemy is your friend and he was very tired of these raids from the vampire. ¡°I don¡¯t care, I will find them¡± John stated. ¡°Are you going to just run around? If so at least take this long-range radio with you. So that we can communicate if anyone finds anything¡± Kyle suggested. ¡°Ok, I will¡± John said while receiving the walkie-talkie. John and Luna raced down the highway, looking and smelling for anything out of the ordinary. Now that a lot of industry areas are out of commission, the air is much cleaner. Which is very convenient for John as, he could smell things form a far distance away. After having ran for about 10-15 minutes east, John smelled something familiar, a blend of cheep cigarettes, vodka and grease. It was the exact same smell as that warehouse. John felt it was worth checking out. After following the smell for a while John spotted a man holding a binocular sitting atop a fairly large trailer by the side of the highway. John had a feeling this guy was part of the Russian mafia. John silently snuck up on the man. Jumping on top of a trailer was child¡¯s play for John. He quickly grabbed around the mans neck lifting him up. ¡°Good day Gopnik¡± John said with a smile hiding his anger. ¡°Eh! Who are you, and what you want!?¡± The man asked nervously. ¡°Tell me where your boss is¡± John continued. You want to fight the boss? Haha good luck c§å§Ü§Ñ §¢§Ý§ñ§ä§î. The Russian pretended to not want to give up the information. However, eventually he did give it up and with it, his own life. John managed to contain himself and quickly told Kyle about the location, before he raced of with Luna in tow, towards the battle. John arrived at a massive horse shoe shaped compound, John tried to use his heartbeat sensor, of course it was useless, but he had to try. John was to angry to care, so he directly ran in and started slicing apart the vampire spawn that were outside. He wasn¡¯t sure where the boss was, so he directly ran into the closest building. John continued slicing apart the weak vampire spawn as he went, with Luna behind him taking out the stragglers. Eventually he came across two more silver haired men, were there no end to these bastards? Did some old granny have octuplets? John didn¡¯t know, of course the reason they all looked very similar was because of the vampire bloodline they had been given. John didn¡¯t have time for chatter, as he immediately went straight for the left one. Both of the silver haired men were dumbfounded, they had come up with such good lines yet this guy just went straight for them. The one on the left realized he wasn¡¯t going to able to dodge, so he quickly raised his hand in a cross, hoping to off stop John¡¯s right hand, which came flying at him. However, John wasn¡¯t stupid enough to go straight at the enemy¡¯s defense. Right before his hand was going to land, John¡¯s left hand quickly rushed out and stabbed straight into the stomach of the dhampir and then raked upwards. Slicing open his stomach and effectively disemboweling him as well as send him flying up into the roof, knocking him unconscious. While this was all going one, Luna had also started attacking the other man, and gotten in quite a few good gashes all over him. He was bleeding heavily already after only a few seconds. This really accentuated Luna¡¯s attack speed. Luna was slower than John at running and had weaker attacks, however her attack speed was much higher than John¡¯s. So while John had only gotten in one attack although a fatal one, Luna had gotten in several. With one of them knocked out, and the other bleeding, this quickly became an unfair one on two. John used his powerful hand to slice at the second dhampir from the side. Needless to say, he was fucked. John quickly stuffed one of the hearts into his mouth, while Luna ate the other one. John¡¯s strength was quickly rising. Both of them continued looking for the boss, however all they could find was rotten corpses and bones. Which was evidence enough of their crimes. After finding nothing useful, John quickly ran deeper into the complex. Running at their speed, they quickly arrived at a very large door in the middle of a hallway. Sitting on a chair in front of the room, was another dhampir. However, John could tell that this one was quite a bit stronger than the others. ¡°Luna, can you handle him yourself?¡± John asked telepathically, ¡°yes¡± Luna curtly answered. Luna rushed forward and started madly attacking the dhampir, while John went past them and burst the door open. Inside the very large room he saw at the end of it, a blood-red haired man sitting behind a large sturdy desk. ¡°So you, came. I was expecting you, however I didn¡¯t think it was going to be a werewolf. How exciting¡± Molotov remarked with glee. John was way to angry to care, so he rushed forward. Which stupefied Molotov, he hadn¡¯t expected him to just rush at him like that. However, Molotov hadn¡¯t become a gangster pakhan for nothing. As John rushed towards him he extended his hand out to the side, where a man that John had failed to notice stood. Suddenly all the orifices on the mans head started bleeding, however the blood didn¡¯t fall down, instead it flew towards Molotov¡¯s hand. You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story. Before John made it to Molotov, the blood in the mans body was already gone. Molotov stood there with a ball of blood hovering above his hand. That ball of blood quickly started becoming longer and slender, until the became a long, thin sword. All this happened before, John managed to get there at full spring. Just as John leapt at Molotov and swiped his hand toward him, Molotov managed to put sword in front of him and actually stopped Johns claws. However, even if Molotov managed to block it, John¡¯s hands were no joking matter, the force of the swipe forced Molotov¡¯s blood sword downwards. John took advantage of that small moment, and quickly swiped his other hand across Molotov¡¯s face. However, Molotov saw it coming and forcibly jerked his head back. Despite his efforts, John still managed to leave a nice gash across Molotov¡¯s cheek. Molotov could feel some kind of force coming from his cheek assaulting his body but it only lasted for a fleeting moment. However he had still lost a tiny bit of strength from that attack. Molotov thought he had to be careful, or else he might really die here. John and Molotov continued exchanging strikes, however none of them could get the upper hand. Eventually they were both bleeding and look ravaged. Molotov had lost his regal aura, that made him feel like a true king of monsters. While John, well John looked like a beast, not much difference there really. However, suddenly while they were taking a breath, Molotov started bend and spasming. Two leathery wings suddenly sprang out from his back, and he started flying up under the large roof. Molotov, didn¡¯t want to use this ability, as it came at a price but as it stood now he had no choice. John was quite surprised as he didn¡¯t expect this to happen. However, Molotov didn¡¯t start attacking yet, he wanted to mock John first. After all he hand the high ground. ¡°You, came here after saving that woman, didn¡¯t you? That¡¯s why you are so angry, no?¡± Molotov mocked. ¡°Yeah, so what¡± John answered angrily, although he didn¡¯t want to amuse this asshole, he didn¡¯t really know what to do. ¡°So then you care about that baby as well?¡± Molotov said with a smirk. ¡°What did you do with him!?¡± John asked furiously. ¡°Oh, he¡¯s right here, I had a feeling you were after me because of that woman and this baby¡± Molotov said as the sword of blood coalesced into a ball, landing into his hand, the blood went inside Molotov¡¯s coat and left in his hand sat a pale baby. ¡°I¡¯m sorry to say, he¡¯s not alive anymore¡± Molotov said with a smirk. Molotov had a small other dimensional storage space, similar to John¡¯s, just with more control over it and less space. Haha, yes, let the rage flow through, I knew keeping this infant handy would be useful. Molotov thought. John was so angry, the amount of anger he felt was so massive and volatile However, before John could do anything they both suddenly heard ¡°Eat flak bitch¡± *thunk, thunk, thunk* as several shots of high explosive anti air shells came flying at Molotov. This was of course Kyle who had driven here as quick as he could. Several of them directly hit Molotov¡¯s wings, shredding them to pieces. John wasn¡¯t going to miss this opportunity he thought, before he shot out at top speed towards Molotov. Molotov was dealing with the pain of having his wings blown to pieces, and didn¡¯t notices John before it was to late. Molotov came flying downwards at high speed, head first. John accurately predicted where he was going to, and directly shoved both of his hands into Molotov¡¯s chest. John forcibly pulled both hands away from each other, which ripped open Molotov¡¯s chest, sending his ribs flying. Molotov¡¯s dying corpse fell to the ground with John on top. Molotov wanted to say something, however before he got the chance, John had already ripped out his heart and was chewing on it. He was doing it mostly just to spite Molotov. John watched as Molotov died with fear and disbelief in his eyes. Just as John was finished eating the heart, darkness started coalescing around him, forming a sort of cocoon. At this point, a battered Luna and Kyle re-entered the room after Kyle had helped Luna finish off the dhampir. However they were both dumbfounded when they saw John, or saw the bubble he was inside. after a short while the darkness started drawing inwards and went into Johns chest. Disappearing from sight. John left out a long sigh, before he quickly rushed over to the infant body. The body was slightly bruised however, killing Molotov with the body outside his personal space had allowed John to fetch it, had it still been inside, who knows what would have happened to it. Luckily none of Kyles flak rounds had hit the body. John looked at Luna. John didn¡¯t have to say anything, Luna could feel the massive amount of anger and sadness in John¡¯s heart. John and Luna promptly rushed back to Bullet town. Kyle looked around helplessly, once again he had to drive back. John and Luna made quickly made it back to bullet town, where they changed back to human form. John directly went to the doctor¡¯s office. John held the infant baby in his hands, although he didn¡¯t want to show it to Alice, he knew she would never accept the reality unless she saw it for herself. He walked into the barracks, where he saw Alice was slightly sobbing, somewhat eating. However, like a mother¡¯s instinct immediately when John walked in the door she noticed. At first, she looked directly at the baby and started smiling while sobbing, however next she looked at John, and saw he had tears in his eyes. She knew, she knew, yet she still refused to accept it. ¡°I¡¯m sorry Alice, I couldn¡¯t save him¡± John said teary eyed. Alice still refused to accept reality. However, when John handed her the lifeless cold body, she recognized it immediately as her Jonathan. At first, she was at a loss, it was like she had become a zombie. However, right after, tears of blood started rolling down her cheeks. Overwhelming grief, that was what she was feeling. An absence of everything except grief. The blood tears continued rolling down her cheeks. John didn¡¯t know what to do. She simply sat there while tear after tear rolled down, staining her gown. However, suddenly a beam of golden light struck down through the roof, perfectly circling Alice and Jonathan. Everyone looking was dumbfounded. Alice started floating up into the air. Suddenly two massive, fluffy wings bursted out from her back shooting to the sides. Abruptly the beam stopped and Alice fell down a few inches onto the bed, where she stood. Followed by soft cries of a child sounding out. Alice had hidden herself with her massive wings, which were easily capable of hiding all of her. However, everyone in the room knew what had just happened. god''s mercy some called it. Although they didn¡¯t know that, only ¡°god¡± could bring a person that been dead for so long back to life. Chapter 13 Evolution

Chapter 13 Evolution Somewhere far away a thin, frail old man with messy grey and white hair, was walking along a dirt road. His shoes were worn out, his clothes riddled with holes and thin as paper, with only a leather duster to keep him warm. He wore a large backpack trudging along slowly. He was going to the next town to trade the things he found, for food. his heart was weak, and he looked like he was already knocking on deaths door. Despite the considerable distance, he had covered since ¡°god¡¯s¡± change, after his car had broken down, he could not find a replacement and was forced to walk. Every car he came across, was missing some part, broken down, had no petrol or the battery was flat. Hence, this old man was forced to walk, day in day out, looking for scraps that people would be willing to trade for. Despite being old and weak, his heart was still good. Once, outside a town he had meet an old beggar sitting down against a large oak. This old man looked quite a bit like himself. However, this old man was blind, and only had a bamboo stick that he used to find his way around. This old man felt so bad for the blind beggar, he had given him some of the little food he had left, half a loaf of stale bread. The old beggar thanked him mightily and promised to repay the favor one day. The towns he visited were much worse off than places like bullet town, they had no evolved people and could only try and grow some food. However, the little they had were often stolen by raiders, people would also be kidnapped sold or used as slave labor. So, things like half a loaf of bread was quite valuable. While walking along this dirt road on his way to the next town, he suddenly spotted a bloated corpse and from this corpse a small sapling was growing. However, what was more stunning than a sapling growing from a few days old corpse, was the color. The two small sapling leaves were golden in color and shone like the brightest stars. This old man was inexplicably drawn towards the small sapling, like the sapling was begging him too come closer. The old man stretched out an arm and with the tip of his finger touched one of the golden leaves. Suddenly the small sapling turned into a beam of light that shot into his finger. His finger started glowing with a golden light. That golden light quickly made its way up his arm. The old man was scared and didn¡¯t know what to do. However, that golden light didn¡¯t give him any time to react. It shot up his arm and went through his throat into his head. As it reached his head, his eyes started glowing golden and golden light enveloped him. That golden light quickly turned his hair a bright golden-white color. After the golden light disappeared, the old man was gone. Replaced by a young man, with golden white hair, golden pupils and fair white skin, with no blemishes. He looked incredibly handsome, many girls would fall heels over head in love with him on first sight. The young man formerly an old man, donned a savage grin, before he shot of with an incredible speed. All that was left was a raggedy backpack. John woke up the morning, in one of the barrack beds at the doctor¡¯s office. After what had happened to Alice, she had fallen asleep with Jonathan in her embrace. Leaving the rest of the people there to stew in their own befuddlement. Nobody know what to make of this, yet they all knew this was the work of god. Some asked themselves why? Why had god done this? No matter how much they though about, no one could make sense of it. John however, didn¡¯t care. He was just happy that his nephew was alive and that Alice was no longer heart broken. Although she had lost her husband, she still had a piece of him in Jonathan. To her, that is what matters now. John and the rest could only conclude that Alice was some kind of an angel now. Luckily her wings could be retracted so that she could actually sleep in a normal bed. John looked over at Alice, she was still sleeping with Jonathan on her chest, her arms wrapped around him. Next to her lay the girl which had been kidnapped not once but twice, and John had rescued her both time. She was awake, nibbling at a slice of bread with cheese. John was slightly surprised that they had cheese here. She looked at John but quickly looked away shyly when she noticed him looking at her.If you encounter this tale on Amazon, note that it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. ¡°How are you feeling?¡± John asked quietly to avoid waking Alice. ¡°I am ok¡± the girl answered meekly. ¡°What is your name?¡± John continued. ¡°Hanna¡± She weakly responded. John decided to end the conversation there since he really didn¡¯t know what else to say. John got out of bed and got dressed. He had been in such a rush yesterday. He knew he had made a qualitative leap in strength after eating Molotov¡¯s heart, but he wasn¡¯t sure how big a difference it was. ¡°Luna come with me, I wanna test something out¡± John told Luna telepathically. Luna, who had been laying on the floor next to John¡¯s bed, quickly got up and followed John out the door. Since Alice was still asleep he felt he didn¡¯t need to be here. John and Luna arrived outside of bullet town, behind bullet town a short distance away was a forest. This forest was the same forest that John had entered a while ago. John didn¡¯t really want to go there, the oppressive force and danger he felt was not something one easily forgot. However, he could not deny the effect of eating the hearts of those purple creatures. He would eventually have to go there. John transformed and quickly headed towards the forest, with Luna in tow. John stopped at the edge of the forest. John was only thinking checking if anything was close, however when he activated his heartbeat pulse, his vision became blue. John was very surprised however, he didn¡¯t stop the ability. He wanted to know what this was. Looking around John Could see spots of red, orange and yellow all around him. This was heat vision! John was ecstatic, looking at Luna she lit up like a blazing fire. Heat vision combined heartbeat sensor would mean he could see pretty much all living things around him. Sadly, the heat vision didn¡¯t work through walls and objects like the heartbeat sensor, but he could see people with the heat vision. This was incredibly useful for night time combat. However, this wasn¡¯t the reason he came out here. Although he had gained another incredible ability that would aid him, he hadn¡¯t known about it but there was something else he had gained that he did know about. John stretched out his arm to the side, and in it a smoky darkness started coalescing. The darkness started stretching until it became a 10-foot-long spear made of smoky darkness. It looked like it was made of pitch black flames that danced around, slightly floating upwards. John felt an incredible power in his hands. John didn¡¯t have to come up with a name for this ability, it already had a name, Dark spear of the god wolf John though. This spear was very powerful and dangerous. John aimed at a tree trunk 30 feet away and threw it with all his might. The spear hit the tree trunk, square in the middle and stopped at the midway point on the spear. Instead of fizzling away or falling out, the spear started melting and spreading around the tree trunk. Eventually the spear was all gone, it was wrapped around the tree trunk. After a few seconds the three feet wide tree fell over. John went over to investigate. The entire part of the tree trunk that had been enveloped was eaten away by this spear, almost three feet was missing. Some of the darkness still lingered on the tree trunk, silently consuming it. John was befuddled by the power of this spear. However, everything has a drawback. While this spear was incredibly powerful it also consumed a lot of Johns power, he clearly felt a difference in his stamina now compared to before. In fact, he had never been so low on energy before. Every time he fought or ran, he wouldn¡¯t feel any difference in his stamina but now he clearly felt it. John managed to make two more spears, however the third one was his limit. If he could feel that if he tried to make a fourth one, he would probably collapse from exhaustion. Like before these two spears, if left alone would consume anything they touched, just like darkness. After transforming John could clearly feel a difference in power, compared to before, he was stronger now, his senses were bumped up another notch. Although how much stronger he couldn¡¯t tell. Right now, he had spent most of his energy creating those three spears, so John and Luna decided to go back. Luna was quite happy that John had gotten a significant increase in power. She felt that before John could certainly beat her, however the difference in strength wouldn¡¯t be too big but now she felt John could wipe the floor with her. Of course, Luna wouldn¡¯t be afraid. She trusted John, he had given her another chance at life after all. John and Luna went straight back to the doctor¡¯s office, to check on Alice, who at this point had woken up. John was meet with a beaming smile from Alice, who was on cloud nine. John and Alice chatted for a bit, it was quite a while ago the last time they talked. After talking a while, Alice told John that she was capable of healing wounds through her powers. The doctor who had was hanging around, overheard them talking and was ecstatic about the possibilities. Alice decided she would stay here and help out the doctor. Although she was a lawyer, she was a very kind soul that would never harm anyone, for her to stay here and help people would be a perfect fit. Chapter 14 Relaxing days Chapter 14 Relaxing days After Alice started helping the doctor, she got a better grasp of her powers, finding her limits, what she could and could not do and so fourth. Time flew by. After John had told Kyle about the still mill in his hometown, Kyle had arranged for a trailer to go there and pick up as much metal as they could. Lucky for Kyle the steel there came in very long rods. When his men came back with the steel he shoved a massive amount of steel through his chest, rod after rod of steel would just disappear into his chest. Eventually Kyle also experienced a massive increase in power. His guns shot faster, longer and stronger. With this qualitative leap in power, Kyle had an idea and ran around his entire arsenal of weapons and touched everything he could. Kyle had a massive arsenal of weapons and not just weapons, anti air trucks, half tracks and full tracks, as well as different tanks and such. Kyle was in every sense of the word a gun nut, before god¡¯s announcement he had used a massive fortune, both inherited and earned to buy a gigantic collection of all kinds of weaponry. After touching most of his weapons, he touched a 57mm anti air gun. After he touched it, that gun turned into liquid that quickly flowed into his hand. After it was all gone, he was able to turn his arm into the 57mm anti air gun, this was a large boost in power for him. Although its power was not even close the John¡¯s dark spear, he was still able to fire of an incredible amount of cannon rounds from a good distance away. After John had killed Molotov life in bullet town was quite relaxing, since all the attacks had completely stopped. Many of the inhabitants were very happy for this reason, some of the people that were captivated by Molotov had also made their way over to bullet town and after being told that John was the werewolf that saved them, looked at him with twinkling eyes filled with hope. They thanked him with all their heart for saving them from the gruesome fate of being sucked do death. After John and Kyle had both made a leap in strength he concluded that if you consume enough of whatever it is you need to consume to get stronger, you get a qualitative leap in strength. So, John and Luna went out into the forest. John made sure to stay as close to the edge of the forest as he could. He would kill things and Luna would eat the hearts. Eventually they came across a mountain lion, however this one was the same as the moose. It had purple claws on all four paws that were glowing with energy. Its eyes were the same, purple with a distinct madness swirling inside them. Its veins were same as well, pulsating with power and bulging outwards. John decided to use this opportunity to test out his spear against a worthy foe. Staying a hundred or so feet away, John charged up his spear, which took a lot less time then it did previously, and threw it out at an incredible speed. The mountain lion had no time to react, as the spear hit him square in the shoulder, going straight through to the other side. John decided to wait a bit to see, however after a little while nothing happened. So, with Luna in tow they both slowly snuck forward. Once they got there, all that was left was the back half of a mountain lion, two paws with nothing attached and a heart. The dark spear had consumed most of the mountain lion, but not the heart, it was left over for John. He picked it up and gave it to Luna, who accepted it happily. This time luckily there was no gigantic beast or roar, but John wouldn¡¯t rule out the possibility that something was lurking in the forest, so he dared not go any further.Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. John and Luna continued their days like this, and after eating a second purple mountain lion heart she also experienced a qualitative leap in strength. Similar to John¡¯s evolution some special things started happening. After she ate the heart, black clouds with lightning coursing through it, and one of them violently lashed out and hit Luna. After it hit her, lightning started coursing through her. Luna was momentarily shocked, but it didn¡¯t hurt, she actually felt quite comfortable. After a short while the clouds were gone and John and Luna was once again alone. ¡°Do you feel any different?¡± John quizzed. ¡°Mm¡± Luna answered, she felt much more powerful. Luna lifted her hand, as she did her claws had lightning coursing through them, and small arcs of lightning were jumping in-between her claws, like a taser. ¡°Neat¡± John said with a smile. Once again Luna felt like John wasn¡¯t to far away from her again, at least he shouldn¡¯t be able to wipe the floor with her. John and Luna spent several days in bullet town relaxing. They were in no hurry to do anything. John noticed that Kyle was getting quite friendly with Alice, however he didn¡¯t mind. Love sprouts where it feels like. Of course, Kyle acted like a gentleman, Alice had lost her husband not long ago after all. Everyday John would walk around town, talking to people such as Dave. Who had actually gotten another mystery metal that the mines had found while digging. Dave was happily hammering away at this new metal he had gotten, he really was a man who loved metals. John and Luna would take walks along the dirt roads going out from bullet town. John felt the air in Bullet town was stuffy and everything smelled like metal. However, even when going a mile away one could still smell the hint of metal and coal in the air. He also wanted to use up some of his energy, even if it was just a little bit of it. John of course went around as a werewolf, just to be safe. John and Luna spent their days like this, talking with people, taking walks and eating a couple hearts now and then. However, as time went on John felt more and more confident. He wanted to walk around as a human, he was tired of having to all the time be a werewolf. Eventually he decided that he was sure the dirt roads were safe. Who would be out here in this remote location anyway? John in human form and Luna as a wolf, walked along the dirt path, enjoying the scenery. John was quite happy about being able to properly stretch his legs, his human legs. John and Luna continued like this for almost a mile, everything seemed normal. However, John smelled something foul in the air. He couldn¡¯t tell what it was. John instantly went on high alert. Thinking back, John wished he had transformed at this moment. Suddenly he felt something behind him, he didn¡¯t even have the time to transform, he just turned around and punched as hard as he could. Behind him was a man who John hit square in the face. John felt like he had just punched a steel plate. Even so the man flew backwards from the incredibly strong punch. However, the damage was already done. John felt his consciousness get fuzzy, he wanted to transform but he wasn¡¯t able to. Next to him Luna had already fallen over. John saw several men come out from seemingly nowhere. John could just barely see the several men walking slowly towards him as well as the man he punched get up from the ground with a massive indent in his face, before John fell over, face first. John swore in his heart, if he survived this he would never go around as a human. Chapter 15 The Union Chapter 15 The Union In a large metal room, a man stood nervously in the middle of it. He was standing right in front of a cylindrical object that reached knee height. He stood there waiting for several minutes, before the cylindrical object started shining. Suddenly a hologram shot up from the cylinder. It was the figure of a man wearing a gold embroidered cloak, standing at least two heads taller than the man, although a lot of that was becuase of the hologram machine. ¡°Report¡± the figure said sternly. ¡°Y-yes sir, task team 1 managed to successfully capture the wolf and the beast. Your new nerve agent worked perfectly, the target was unable to transform and was swiftly subdued. However, TT-1 was damaged in the fight, even in human form the beast managed to dent his facial exoskeleton¡± the man reported. After that figure heard the report, one could very obviously see his glee. ¡°Haha, this is great. Seventh is going to be so jealous when he hears I managed to capture a living bloodline holder, a werewolf no less. Its good to see that shithead Molotov was at least a little bit useful. Also call in one of fourth¡¯s repair teams to take a look at TT-1. What is the status of the beast?¡± the figure responded. ¡°He is currently on the operation table, ready for your inspection sir. We are constantly pumping tranquilizers into him, to keep him sedated. The wolf has been locked up and is sedated at regular intervals¡± the man answered. ¡°Very good, I will be there in just a few hours. Keep a tight watch over him until I get there. Oh, and by the way, Ringneck will be on his way. One can¡¯t be too careful¡± the figure responded before the hologram fizzled out. ¡°R-Ringneck!?¡± the man stammered with his heart in his throat. He had never met this legendary figure, only heard of his prowess. After a few hours went by, four doctors clad in full operating gear were standing around an unconscious John. The room had glass walls on three sides, while the last side had painted concrete. However, one story above that concrete wall was an angled mirror, overlooking the operating table. This was of course a one-way mirror. John was locked in place with sturdy metal shackles, around all his appendages and his neck. The four doctors looked at the one-way mirror, seemingly waiting for confirmation. Suddenly the same voice of that figure played over the loudspeakers ¡°Begin extracting the bloodline¡±. Behind that mirror stood the sixth elder. ¡°damn that Ringneck, what is taking him so long? He should have been here by now. We will just have to start without him¡± the elder said begrudgingly. The scientist quickly began working, from the way they were moving one could tell they were very good at this. They swiftly started cutting open Johns chest and open his rib cage. Although they were professionals they still needed to be careful. The sixth elder wanted to obtain John¡¯s bloodline but he also wanted to know what happened to the person after they removed the bloodline. So, they couldn¡¯t just outright kill John. They also weren¡¯t sure if they could harvest a bloodline from a dead person, since this was the first bloodline holder they had gotten their hands on. As such, they continued with their procedure until they reached the heart. With the bypass machine ready, the surgeon got ready to connect it to John¡¯s heart. However, when his scalpel touch the artery going into the heart, he got a sudden electric shock and swiftly pulled his hand away. John¡¯s eyes shot open. Hair started growing on him rapidly and the incision in his chest as well as his ribcage closed at an extreme speed it was like someone zipped up a zipper. John very swiftly transformed and broke the shackles binding him to the table. At first, he got up and looked around confused and then he remembered what happened. seeing the four terrified doctors around him, he could guess what happened. Although these four men were not evolved in any way, John was still furious at them John swiped out with one of his massive arms and directly cut one of them on two, sending his bisected body parts flying towards another one of the doctors. The force of John¡¯s swipe was so strong that the bisected man pushed the other one and they both flew through one of the glass walls. John made quick work of the other two doctors. They had messed with the wrong werewolf. When John had just started transforming, the elder had gotten quite the scare. ¡°I can¡¯t stay here, dammit, fuck, shit¡± the elder exclaimed angrily while John was transforming. Next to him stood two guards that looked eerily alike. The elder turned to one of them and said angrily ¡°Tell the pilot to start spooling up the chopper, we are leaving¡± the guard simply nodded. The elder turned around getting ready to leave, however instead of running, that elder simply turned into a cloud with a face. The cloud looked to be formed from very dense smoke. The elder silently started floating up the stairs at a rapid speed, with his guards in tow. John was just about done with his rampage at this time. John quickly started running around different rooms, everyone of them filled with various kinds of equipment and sometimes scientist, which he of course killed. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. He knew round about where Luna was because of their connection, however she was unconscious and this place was a maze. After a while John got tired of it and simply started smashing through walls. As he is now, John can cut through steel like it is butter, smashing through a couple concrete walls is no problem for him. Eventually John found Luna, guarded by two men. Although they weren¡¯t really guards, they looked like scientist. They also looked quite different. John swiftly dispatched them and got Luna. John slung Luna over his shoulder and swiftly made his way back towards that operating room. While looking for Luna he had found a staircase that said: ¡°Surface level¡±. John, with Luna slung across his shoulder almost flew up the stairs. All this time, John was lamenting over how stupid he was. How could he have let his guard down like that? It wasn¡¯t only himself he was putting in danger but also Luna. One moment of relaxation had almost cost him his life. Staying on high alert all the time was incredibly taxing on the brain, all he wanted was a moment of time where he could enjoy mother nature as a human. He vowed to never do something that stupid again. Now he would always stay vigilant no matter how taxing it was. John eventually made it to the surface level. John wasn¡¯t to interested in the scenery. He just wanted to get out of this unfamiliar place as quickly as possible. As such he rushed out the first door that smelled like forest and greenery. John quickly made his way outside, there he saw a couple cars driving away. However, that isn¡¯t what caught his attention. In the air, several hundred yards away was a buzzing chopper. John had a feeling, whoever was in that chopper was responsible for all this. Fury rose in his chest when he though about the person that had fucked him over like that. With his left hand, John quickly formed a dark spear and threw it at the chopper with all his might. Inside the chopper, the elder was looking out the open door of the chopper at the werewolf below. When he saw him, he was furious that such a fine specimen wouldn¡¯t be his to toy with. However, he learned something very valuable, John''s bloodline and probably all others had an automatic self-defense system built in. this would be very useful for his future experiments. However, as he was thinking about this, he saw the werewolf, John, holding a long black thing. He got a bad feeling from seeing this thing in John¡¯s hand. ¡°Evasive maneuvers¡± he screamed to the pilot. He saw John throw that gigantic thing just as the pilot maneuvered. In a fraction of a second that spear had made its way over to them. The elder only saw a black line fly right next to the chopper. The elder got a cold sweat when thinking of the speed that spear had, luckily it missed. John looked as he just barely missed the chopper, he wasn¡¯t completely accustomed to throwing this spear yet. Coupled with the evasive maneuvers of the pilot, it had missed. John watched the spear fly of into the sky, disappearing out of sight. Considering the energy drain of one of these things, John decided to not throw another one. He only watched as the chopper flew away. Inside the chopper, the elder was looking attentively at John, waiting for another spear. However, nothing came. The elder felt he could finally wipe away the cold sweat on his forehead. That was too close. ¡°Call up Ringneck and tell him the beast is loose¡± the elder told one of the guards. The guard simply nodded and then looked blankly for a while. Eventually the guard reported back in a very stiff voice ¡°cannot connect to agent Ringneck, unable to establish a line of communication¡±. ¡°Damn tin cans¡± the elder murmured. John didn¡¯t know where to go, so he went with the safest option: follow the road. After following the road for a while he, eventually arrived at an interstate that was not to far away from bullet town. Luckily, he had been here before, he sort of knew where he was. John started running in the direction of the bullet town. After John had evolved his speed had increased by almost 50 percent. He guessed he was now moving at around 100 or so mph. Since he was carrying Luna it went a bit slower, he could probably go even faster. John didn¡¯t want to run on the highway, since it wasn¡¯t as comfortable. He instead opted to run on the side of the road, where there was grass, a few yards away from the road. Suddenly he noticed something. On the opposite side of the road, a man was walking in the opposite direction. This man was carrying a massive sword over his shoulder, John guessed it must at least be 6 feet long, if not longer. He was wearing a pair of dull blue jeans, no shoes, a plain shirt and a baseball cap backwards. He was looking at John. However, at the speed John was moving at their gaze only lasted for a few seconds. Even so, John could tell just from his gaze, that this man was incredibly dangerous. If they were to face off one on one, John wasn¡¯t sure if he could win. The man looked at John, he looked uncertain, as if he wasn¡¯t sure whether to attack or not. Alas as John passed him, he no longer had the chance. John didn¡¯t dare stop, he gave 110 percent and got away from there as quickly as he could. Eventually the swordsman turned around and continued leisurely walking down the road, like he had no worries in the world. After that fearful encounter, John quickly made his way towards bullet town, arriving after a few hours. He directly took Luna into the doctor¡¯s office. Kyle also arrived at the doctor''s office after a short while. Many people had of course taken note of the gigantic werewolf storming through bullet town, so Kyle had quickly been informed. Luckily people recognized John and didn¡¯t open fire. Alice helped heal Luna, although she had no obvious wounds, it wouldn¡¯t hurt to try. While Alice was taking care of Luna, John told Kyle about what had happened. Of course, Kyle berated John for being an overconfident dumbass. However, as they say: ¡°hindsight is 20/20¡±. John felt quite embarrassed, he would never make that mistake again. Chapter 16 Invitation Chapter 16 Invitation Somewhere quite far away. Inside a bunker like structure underground, sat a young man on the floor. He looked no older than 23 and was in the prime of his youth. He sat on the floor tinkering with some kind of device that was tens of years ahead of the technology on earth before ¡°god¡¯s¡± wrath. His eyes were not human, they had many overlapping rings and odd shapes inside them, like a camera lens. Constricting and opening as he focused on his new project. His room was quite bare, with just a bed, a messy desk with lots of different kinds of electronical appliances, some bookshelves and in the middle of the room a cylindrical object about a foot tall. His name was Adam Wong. ¡°Wong the wonder boy¡± they used to call him. At the young age of 17 he had graduated MIT summa cum laude. Although he had never taken an IQ test, many guesstimated that he had at least 150 IQ. After graduating he had worked as a researcher for a couple years, but his career path had been cut short by ¡°god¡¯s¡± wrath. However, back then just when he though all hope was lost, someone reached out to him and offered a job. A job that paid an astronomical sum. Adam decided to accept this opportunity immediately. When he started working at this underground facility just a scant few months after ¡°god¡¯s¡± wrath, It had just been built, all the equipment was top notch and state of the art. Adam was overjoyed that he accepted this job. He couldn¡¯t wait to see what they wanted him to research, since they hadn¡¯t said so in the job offer. Adam was thoroughly disappointed when they told him, he and his coworkers would be trying to disprove tried and tested theories and even laws of nature. Of course, Adam wasn¡¯t a dunce. He understood that whoever had hired him wanted to get a head start. Even though ¡°god¡± had said one year, these people were trying to see what could have changed now. Although disappointed, Adam would have no problem with doing stupid things for the amount of money they were paying. However, as the team of researchers started their work, after just a few months of work, they found lots of things that were different. Things that shouldn¡¯t work, started working. In no time, they had solved the problem with quantum tunneling and created the first quantum computer. Yet, it didn¡¯t stop there. They managed to translate nerve signals into readable electrical signals. This was Adams field of expertize. Using this new technology, Adam started in secrecy to make cybernetic enhancements. Which turned out a magnificent success. Bit by bit, Adam was replacing his old body of flesh, with a new one made from metal. Adam used advanced sophisticated robots that would work using brain impulses, with this he was able to replace most of his body by himself. Using high-tech super alloys that could mimicked skin, that someone else had come up with in another research facility, he managed to keep his new enhancements completely undetected by the others. This was Adams dream, almost every night when he was younger he would dream of cybernetic enhancements. It helped a lot that unless something big was going on, he would only see other people once a week, giving him plenty of time to do what he wanted. A couple months before ¡°god¡± turned everything upside down, Adam was pretty well informed on who his employers were. They were the super elite of the old world. The richest of the rich, the 1%. They didn¡¯t like what ¡°god¡¯s¡± announcement implied, so they did the one thing all their money could; research. They had funded research into the most important fields of science. They also started rapidly building bunkers, underground retreats, research facilities, everything one could think of. They poured billions of dollars into staying a head. They had realized that ¡°god¡± had knowingly or un-knowingly given them a grace period of one year, where their precious money would be worth something. Many of these 1% had had the same thoughts and had banded together to help each other. Each one of them funding and watching the progress of a single field of research. However, it didn¡¯t take long before whoever hired Adam was dissatisfied. Even though they had managed to transform brainwaves and nerve impulses, the other researchers were quite inept at this field and were unable to create robotics that could rival human appendages. Who knows how angry he would have been, had he know that Adam was only 20% meat and bones at this point in time. This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. One day, the money simply stopped coming, but Adam didn¡¯t care. He was too busy with his own work, as long as he had his old reserve of money and there was power in the facility, he would continue working. Adam was so embroiled in his work he simply forgot about the days. However, this day he would never forget about. Adam felt a wave of power surging over him. It was ¡°god¡¯s¡± evolution. He could feel the slightly clumsy cybernetic enhancement he had made on himself were melding together with his remaining flesh. Previously his senses had been dull and somewhat unprecise, at the time he hadn¡¯t really cared about that in his excitement. However, now he could feel everything, his hearing got better, he could see clearer. It was like he was a new person. Looking in the mirror, Adam noticed his pupils had changed. He wasn¡¯t dumb enough to start removing his eyes, this was not his work. Adam had stayed in that bunker for a few more weeks, lucky for him, he could create electricity. Using his fellow coworkers as test subject, he started experimenting, until he eventually created the perfect being. Adam never liked humans, actually he detested them, they were annoying, complicated and untrustworthy. He removed all their feelings, their freewill and made them into unthinking, unfeeling androids, that only listened to commands. until one day a burly man with a large smile had broken in through the front door. ¡°We have been looking for you¡± he said smiling. John sat in his refurbished apartment that had been given to him by Kyle. He was thinking about all this new encounter he had had, just a day ago. Although getting kidnapped in his own backyard was bad, that wasn¡¯t what was bothering him. It was that man with the sword. Besides that creature in the forest, he was the most powerful person he had ever met. It scared him. If he had meet that man inside the facility he would have no choice but to fight, and with Luna out cold, John wasn¡¯t sure whether he could take him on. John had considered giving his bloodline to someone else several times, but he was afraid of forcing it. When he had transformed Luna, it had been the bloodline that almost forced him. He didn¡¯t want to force himself and end up doing something stupid. If his bloodline insisted on doing it, he would but unless such a situation appeared he would most likely not give it to someone else. Besides, when it had happened, his bloodline did all of the work. John wasn¡¯t even sure how too transmit his bloodline, he had no control over that globule in his chest. The third thing being, when he transformed Luna, his personal power took a huge dip. John had the feeling that this would only escalate with the amount of times a bloodline was transmitted. His only other option was to eat more hearts. However, the things that went bumping in the night, scared John a hell of a lot more then that swordsman. He could only find more hearts very carefully. Although finding regular hearts was no big deal, they gave him almost no benefit, he could probably eat a 1000 of them and not even gain 1% of strength. So, eating normal hearts were mostly for recreational sake. Even the purple hearts had drastically less effect on him and Luna after they evolved, however the purple creatures also got a lot easier to kill. John walked around town with Luna in tow, looking at different things. Eventually they made their way over to Dave. However, when they reached him, John noticed something was different. ¡°Hey Dave, say is your hammer bigger and on fire?¡± John asked a bit perplexed. ¡°Aye, its pretty Skookum ain¡¯t it? Right after you two went on your little trip I managed to beat the last piece of information out of my new mystery metal and boom, hammers on fire¡± Dave responded with a gleeful smile. ¡°You managed to evolve from just beating a piece of metal?¡± John asked with a bittersweet tone. ¡°Hehe, seems that way¡± Dave answered. John got a slight bitter taste in his mouth, all that shit he had been through and this guy just casually evolves from beating metals. Dave was about to say something else, when suddenly Kyle came over. ¡°John, come with me there is someone asking for you¡± Kyle said. Finding John in a crowd wasn¡¯t to hard, considering his above average height and the massive wolf by his side. John thanked Kyle for saving him from Dave, he could bare listen to him gloat. Kyle lead John to the entrance of bullet town, when they got there the two guards were standing with their guns at the ready. Right in front of the gate to bullet town sat a well-built man on a motorcycle. ¡°Who are you and what do you want with me?¡± John asked a bit skeptical. ¡°I am just the messenger, this is for you¡± the cyclist said as he tossed a letter over. ¡°What is it?¡± John couldn¡¯t refrain from asking. ¡°An invitation¡± he answered before, revving his bike and shooting off. Chapter 17 Attrition group Chapter 17 Attrition John looked as the cyclist speed off and disappeared into the distance. He looked at the letter in his hand. ¡°Too Warlord Kyle and the beast of bullet town¡± it said on the front of the letter. The writing was very dainty, most likely written by a woman. John figured Kyle had read the names and guessed that it was addressed to both of them, who else then John could be the beast of bullet town? John carefully opened the letter and started reading it out loud. ¡°To the Beast of bullet town. We have seen your prowess both against Molotov and your subsequent evolution when facing the union. We therefor feel you are worthy of Joining our group. If you are interested, then come to Charleston town in three days and we will answer all your questions. With regards -Attrition group.¡± The letter was quite short. John didn¡¯t know what to make of it. ¡°Is it a trap?¡± Kyle chimed in. ¡°I doesn¡¯t feel like one, but one can never be too careful¡± John responded. After his previous mistake, John was in no rush to fuck up again. Yet, he still felt this letter was credible, why send an invitation instead of just ambushing him? With that though John had decided to go. He wanted to know who this group was and why they were contacting him. ¡°I will go and check it out. Will you come Kyle?¡± John asked. ¡°Mm, no. If this is a trap then they might be aiming for bullet town, too risky to leave it unprotected¡± Kyle answered. Indeed, if that was their goal, for Kyle to stay behind was a good idea. John also liked this idea, since Alice was staying here. The next three days passed quickly. John did what he usually did, talking, walking and eating. After finding the best route to Charleston town, John was ready to head out. Charleston town wasn¡¯t to far away, only a couple hours for John at full sprint. Of course, he would be bringing Luna so he could travel at 100%. In hindsight, John probably should have left a bit earlier, but it was already to late now. Luna and John raced off southwards next to the interstate. They could cut straight through the forest but with no sense of direction, that would only make their trip slower. The creatures in the forest wasn¡¯t something he wanted to bump into either. After a few hours at top speed, they eventually saw the sign for Charleston town. They arrived at the edge of town. This town like so many others, was barren. With no activity and no one around. However, leaning against a building right on the edge of town, he saw the cyclist. He stood there in his leather clothes smoking a cigarette and nonchalantly looked at John. John was quite surprised that he seemed completely unfazed by his huge stature. John was after all gigantic and very scary looking. ¡°So you came, the others are just about to start¡± he said in a relaxed tone. ¡°Start what and who others?¡± John asked suspicious. ¡°Calm down wolf boy, you will see. Come on¡± he said before he sauntered off. John was quite annoyed by this guy. ¡°You will be the first to die if this is a trap¡± John stated. ¡°Yeah, yeah save me the drama¡± the man said even more relaxed, only further infuriating John. Eventually they arrived at what looked like an old bar. However, all the windows were welded shut with steel plates. The door was also made of thick metal with just a small port at head height to look through. The cyclist knocked on the door. the small port promptly slid open. The man inside who looked outward could only see a massive black hairy chest filled with muscles. ¡°Hey its me and the beast, let us inn¡± the cyclist said. The man behind the door looked at the cyclist and then attempted to get a view of John¡¯s face, before he opened the door. John crouched down and just barely made it through the door, with Luna right behind doing the same. Inside the bar he saw lots of weapons strew around, with some people sitting at the far left drinking beer. However, when he looked to his right, John saw the weirdest group of people he had ever seen. This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there. A bunch of people were sitting and standing around a coffee table. The woman in the middle saw John. ¡°Ahh, the beast of bullet town, welcome. We have been expecting you¡± she said with a sweet voice. John walked forward until he stood in front of these people. ¡°Well we haven¡¯t meet before, so I suppose introductions is expected. Why don¡¯t everyone introduce themselves?¡± the woman in the middle said, who John assumed was the leader. To John¡¯s immediate left stood a man straight as a rod. He was wearing a set of electric blue track clothes. However that wasn¡¯t the most striking thing about him. His hair was long and flowing, except not flowing downwards, but backwards. It was as if he was underwater, his hair laid horizontally backwards and was slowly and slightly waving back and forth, like there was a stream of water around him. When he turned to look at John, his hair slowly floated to the left, so that it was straight behind him. ¡°Nice to meet you, names McGee, Lightning McGee¡± he said in a stern voice. Suddenly John heard someone chime in ¡°Pft, more like lightning McQueen¡±. ¡°Shut up Alec¡± McGee responded angrily. Next to him sat a woman in a comfy reclining chair. She was wearing a long summer dress with some flowers on it. She looked quite normal. However, as John looked at her one of the straps for the dress going across her shoulder moved a bit, and then slowly retracted behind her back. ¡°Hello, my name is Donna, but people call me Arachne¡± she said with a sweet smile. As John heard her introduction, he realized the implications and shuddered. To the left of this woman, sat another woman. Who was wearing some regular clothes. A pair of Chinos and a sweater. ¡°Hello, I am Matilda. Nice to meet you. I suppose I am the leader of this bunch¡±. she said with a bitter sweet smile The next person to introduce himself was the same man who had heckled McGee. He was wearing a leather duster and a leather fedora, looking like a 1950s reporter. ¡°Good day, to you. You might not be able to tell but I am a mage¡± he exclaimed with glee, obviously wanting to show off. He lifted his hand and made some glitter in his hand. Which didn¡¯t impress John at all. ¡°Haha, careful there, glitter boy¡± McGee who had seen his chance, started heckling him. ¡°What did you call me!?¡± Glitter boy exclaimed angrily and stretched his hand towards McGee, with two fingers stretched outwards like he was pretending it was a gun. However, immediately afterwards an incredibly bright light started coalescing at the end of his fingertips. A small ball, no bigger than a pearl hanged stationary in front of his two fingers. The light was so bright that everyone in the room had to squint to be able to see. McGee responded by making a bow of pure lightning and pulling it back. As he did an arrow started forming until he had drawn back completely. ¡°try me glitter boy, I don¡¯t believe you dare to let that thing off so close to yourself¡± McGee responded smugly. Suddenly Matilda chimed in angrily ¡°Stop it both of you and Alec put away that thing before you kill all of us. We have company¡±. After staring at each other for a moment they both retracted their abilities. John felt a bit of cold sweet running down his back, what did she mean by ¡°kill us all¡± could that small ball of light kill everyone here? ¡°You will have to excuse these two brats¡± Matilda said apologetically. After everyone had settled down John looked at the old man holding a bamboo cane sitting in the corner looking at the ground. Right after John looked at him, the old man¡¯s head shot- up and looked at John with milky white eyes. John immediately understood that this man was blind. Even so, when he looked in to those eyes John felt a bit of fear. He could feel that this man was exceptionally strong. The old man looked at John ¡°This old man is just here to repay a favor¡± he said with a bit of melancholy and went back to staring at the ground. He obviously didn¡¯t want to say his name or stay with this group any longer than he needed to. ¡°Ok then. Well my name is John and this is Luna¡± John said a bit awkwardly, no amount of strength could make one rise above awkward situations. ¡°Welcome John and Luna and with you two arriving, this meeting can begin¡± Matilda said with a smile, obviously trying to gloss over the previous events.
