《Fantasy into Fallout》 Prologue I awoke one day, to the sound of gunfire, filling the streets of Manhattan. I saw two men clad in black, running in my direction, then out of nowhere a man in a black mask appeared and said: ¡°Get down!!!¡± The man in a black mask shouted at me to get down, so I did¡ and what happened next¡ scared the living shit out of me!. ¡°Fireball!¡± The man said. And then. The man¡ shot a ball of fire OUT OF HIS HANDS!!!. ¡°What the hell!?¡± I said, out of fear and confusion, as I backed away from the fire wielding man slowly. ¡°Are you okay?¡± Said the man as he walked towards me. ¡°It¡¯s okay, I¡¯ll heal you¡± He said as a small white light appeared from his left hand. He touched my head and said: ¡°Oh holy gods, heal this young one with your almighty power!¡± And, the pain that I was used to having¡ was suddenly gone. ¡°What¡ did you do to me!?¡± I said, shocked. ¡°I healed you, that¡¯s all.¡± He said, like it was something normal. ¡°What¡ who are you?¡± I asked, scared. He looked at me, staring right into my eyes. Briefly I pondered whether I should ditch this situation. I watched his hands out of the corner of my eye. He seemed to have noticed my glance and he said: ¡°I won¡¯t create more charcoal than needed, don¡¯t worry.¡± he chuckled as he took his mask off and said: ¡°Name¡¯s Jason, Jason Vertold. And, I believe I saved you just now.¡± He said. ¡°U-Uh, yeah I guess.¡± I replied. ¡°Thanks for that.¡± I blinked. ¡°No, wait, what, WHAT, what happened?¡± I said with fear and confusion evident in my voice. Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon. ¡°I don¡¯t know, first I was with my wife and son¡ and now I¡¯m fighting men, with these strange weapons.¡± said Jason. ¡°You mean guns?¡± I asked. ¡°So, those are what they¡¯re called?... guns¡ that¡¯s a pretty suitable name for them.¡± Jason said. I was dumbfounded. What the heck is up with this guy over there. First those mysterious men followed me down the street, then this guy came in and started shooting fire out of his hands! And now I¡¯m stuck with this weirdo. I mean, even his getup is weird! Leather Cap, Leather armor, Leather shin guards, Leather shoes, Heck, I bet even his skin is leather! The man, Jason?, inched closer to me. My legs shook and my throat went dry, this monster here, no matter what, he is just simply¡ too weird. Yes, that¡¯s it. He¡¯s way too weird, I don¡¯t know what he wants from me. ¡°Hey,¡± Jason said, ¡°why are you backing off? All¡¯s good right?¡± He said, confused. ¡°Please, don¡¯t hurt me!¡± I hurriedly said as I backed up against the cold brick wall. He looked at me dumbfounded, and he said ¡°What do you mean, hurt you? I¡¯m trying to help you.¡± His friendly smile flashed in the lights, his body peered over me as I cowered in fear. ¡°You¡¯re¡ not going to hurt me?¡± I said, confused but a bit scared. He looked at me and said: ¡°Of course i¡¯m not going to hurt you, dumbass... what¡¯s your name?¡± Jason said. ¡°Oh, it¡¯s Ashton.¡± I said, still a bit shaken up. He extended his right hand towards me and said: ¡°Ashton, that¡¯s a pretty strong name. Here get up.¡± I grabbed his stretched hand, and he slowly pulled me up. His hand was raspy and rough, almost dry, but at the same time there was some warmth emanating from within. Well, he did shoot fire out of his hands before. ¡°So, where are we?¡± He asked. ¡°We¡¯re in Manhattan¡ Why don¡¯t you know where you are?¡± I asked him confused. ¡°Well, let¡¯s just say that I¡¯m not from around here...¡± He went quiet. ¡°Well, that¡¯s pretty obvious.¡± With the whole fire thing¡ ¡°You are not from here¡¡± I gasped. ¡°Are you from the Federation!?¡± I said, as hope suddenly filled my voice. ¡°No, I¡¯m not from any faction¡ I¡¯m just a normal guy¡ well at least, where I¡¯m from, I¡¯m considered average.¡± Jason said, shaking his Uniform. ¡°If you¡¯re average, then what am I?¡± I said, clearly confused and a little bit scared. ¡®If he¡¯s average, then what the fuck are the strong people!?¡¯ I thought, secretly. ¡°I know what you¡¯re thinking, ¡°If I¡¯m average¡ then who the hell are the strong people!?¡± right?¡± He almost exactly said what I was thinking just now!. ¡®PSYCHIC, GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!¡¯ I thought, kind of scared. ¡°Relax, I¡¯m not inside of your head, I can just hear your thoughts, like, I¡¯m just reading your mind, checking whether you were actually on my side or not¡ and you are, so all¡¯s good.¡± He said in an upbeat voice. ¡®What would happen if I wasn¡¯t on his side?¡¯ I thought, slightly fearful. ¡°Oh, I would¡¯ve killed you on the spot¡ now, let¡¯s go.¡± He said as he started walking away. ¡°Wha-... Okay!¡± I said as I started to run after him. ¡°Heh.¡± He laughed, smiling¡ then he put his mask on and threw a red one to me and said: ¡°Put it on, it¡¯ll be harder for your enemies to find your loved ones if they don¡¯t even know who the fuck you are!¡± I put the mask on and said: ¡°How do I look?¡± He instantly replied with: ¡°Like an idiot. That¡¯s good, enemies will be less vigilant against you, so you better be grateful to me.¡± And we walked through the streets of manhattan, killing every enemy in our way. I pondered. What the heck was actually going on? I¡¯ve been on a scavenging run for my sister, before a group of armed men jumped out of nowhere and fired at me. I took cover, but they still found me anyways. Whatever was going on, I¡¯m sure this man holds some of the answers. ----------- End. Created by: Writer 1. and Writer 0. [Thanks, Writer 0] -Writer 1 [Thanks to you too, Writer 1. ] -Writer 0 [XD] -Writer 1 Chapter 1 It was a bloodbath. The corpses just piled up and more and more. Giant monsters flew midair, spitting fire, other monsters burrowed underground, popping out at random places. I was scared, and Jason was even more scared, so we started to run, although I think we had been noticed. We were chased by a smaller flying monster, but it lost track of us after a while. I asked Jason what the fuck those things were, he only said one word: ¡®¡¯Dragons¡¯¡¯ He said it with terror evident in his voice. Then¡ we heard it, a roar louder than my ears could handle. The dragon behind us stretched itself, gigantically looming over the city, eyes narrowed to slits. I swore, it could count the amount of dust particles on my T-shirt. ¡°Let¡¯s get out of here. I have this secret base a couple of kilometres away. There should be enough food for a while.¡± He said. I could only nod, my whole body shivered with fright. My spine seemed to be frozen and I didn¡¯t dare to talk, or the dragon would notice me. Jason seems to know what he was doing, so I followed him. On the way we came across a large green monster with a club. All Jason said was: ¡°Troll. We could use this to our advantage¡ OI!!! YOU BIG UGLY FUCKERS COME AND GET US!!!¡± Jason aggravated both the Troll and the Dragon and for some reason, they attacked each other. ¡°RUN!¡± Jason said, and started to run to the abandoned section of the city. My breathing was harsh, my heart seems to beat against my rib cage. But I didn''t stop. Because I know that stopping means death! The troll was big and ugly. Ugly was actually an understatement. Its beard was rough and rotten, probably because of his breath. Its clothes were in tatters, and I could even peek inside, getting dumbfounded by the amount of hair on his chest. ¡°What are you staring at, are you gay?¡± Jason yelled to me. I really wanted to cry. What¡¯s up with him? First he started to appear out of nowhere with his weird mask, then he just threw fire on some armed guys, and, now we are running from some kind of weird flying monster and a big stomping idiot. Dust flew into my eyes. I tried to grab a hold of Jason, but he is running in front of me, even faster than I am. ¡°Hey,¡± I gasped, ¡°Uhh, Hey!¡± Jason didn¡¯t seem like he heard me at all. He just kept on running, like his life depended on it. Then he said ¡°COME ON ASHTON, IF YOU DON¡¯T CATCH UP, YOU¡¯RE GONNA DIE!!!¡± I quickly sped up and actually managed to match his pace. Unauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°See, You¡¯ve got it in you.¡± he said, confidence evident in his voice. ¡°Just a few more kilometres. Also, little tip¡ don¡¯t look behind.¡± As he said that, I looked behind me and saw fire and green gobbling against each other, debris flying everywhere. ¡°OH MY GOD!!!¡± I screamed at the top of my lungs. ¡°WHAT DID I JUST TELL YOU!!!¡± As he said that, some mutants came out from the buildings around us and started chasing after us. ¡°RUN!!!¡± I shouted. ¡°ASH, WE¡¯RE ALREADY RUNNING THE FASTEST WE CAN!¡± He shouted back. ¡°DO YOU HAVE TO SHOUT AT ME?¡± I yelled. ¡°YES, ELSE YOU CAN¡¯T HEAR ME OVER THE DESTRUCTION!!!.¡± Music started playing in the background. Probably one of the abandoned things left behind. We ran for what felt like hours. Soon we ran to a more grayish area and Jason said: ¡®Let¡¯s take a five minute break, then we will get back to running.¡¯¡¯ I peered behind me. No dragon, no troll. For now. ¡°Oh¡ god!¡± I gasped for breath as I sat down. ¡°...You okay?¡± His face showed traces of worry. ¡°Do¡ do you think I¡¯m okay? I just ran for what felt like hours!¡¯¡¯ I was annoyed. ¡°What were those things just now?! I¡¯ve never seen anything like those before, not even the mutants were that scary.¡± ¡°Mutants?¡± ¡°Oh, yeah. Those fast fuckers behind us? those are mutants. There¡¯s a lot of different kinds of mutants. Sometimes Zombies with open skulls and all that, sometimes killer bees with radioactive poison, bound to kill you instantly or forever. Then there¡¯s those fast fucks, we call them Reapers, because, if one of those things catch up to you, then it¡¯s like a one-way trip to the grim reaper. They¡¯re fast and strong. but luckily dumber than bricks¡ just don¡¯t YELL IN THE MIDDLE OF A CITY!!!¡± I coughed. ¡°Again, what are those flying bastards? You called them dragons, right?¡± He nodded. ¡°Dragons are legendary fire spewing creatures. The problem is, ordinary swords won¡¯t work, and magic resistant of course. They¡¯re also fast, smart and strong. They just don¡¯t show weakness, other than their lust for gold and women. But even then, you¡¯re not guaranteed your life.¡± I nodded. ¡°Magic?¡± I asked. ¡°Magic.¡± He nodded. ¡°Oh, okay.¡± I looked behind me. There was a lot of dust and smoke, a reaper seems to cause chaos behind us. Hopefully he¡¯ll latch onto that dragon, I really would like to see both of them dead... The troll too. But then the dust cleared and a reaper riding on a troll whipping a dragon like it¡¯s the horse on a carriage appeared. ¡°Oh shit.¡± I said. Jason already ran away while yelling: ¡°RUN, YOU LAZY FUCK!!!¡± I ran to him as fast as I could. The dragon followed closely behind us. Suddenly the reaper spat out his fangs and managed to get a hold of Jason¡¯s Bicep. Jason instantly darted around and tried to pry it off. ¡°Don¡¯t take it out Jason, it uses its claw as a hook!¡± I yelled to him. _____________________ Thanks guys, and of course the main lead, Writer 1! _ Everybody give him a hand!_ Writer 0 [I really need that hand!, I¡¯m beginning to fucking slip! HELP ME!!!!] -Writer 1 _Go to sleep_ -_- [nooooo~] -Writer 1 Chapter 2 ¡°There¡¯s a fucking claw in my arm!¡± Jason screamed. ¡°It¡¯s okay, we just have to kill it and take the claw out!¡± I tried to calm Jason down. ¡°HOW DO WE KILL THAT CLAW-THING WITH A TROLL AND A DRAGON RIGHT FUCKING BEHIND US!!!???¡± Jason yelled at me. ¡°SHUT UP AND RUN!!!¡± I yelled back at him. He grumbled to himself. Ha, suits him. With a snap, he tore off the claw inched deeply within his hide. The claw with its long slender knives flew back to the Reaper, a piece of meat was stuck to the claw. I looked at Jason. Jason¡¯s Bicep was partly ripped out, and he already muttered something under his breath. Soon his bicep molded together and there was no trace of Reaper¡¯s claw anymore. I looked behind. His fiendish face was devoid of emotions, one might think he didn¡¯t recognize it at all. Well, Reapers are known for being dumber than bricks. I shook my head. Now wasn¡¯t the time to think about stuff like this. It¡¯s running time. I ran. My legs carried me further than ever before. The buildings passed by me, the streets were endless. We sometimes went in zig-zag, but they always managed to find us afterwards. Out of the corners of my eyes I saw a dark passage. I gestured to Jason to go through the passage, maybe the buildings will stop the dragon. We entered the dark side passage, and I noticed the ground was made out of dirt and sand. As we ran on the end of the passage was in sight. As we neared it, the ground in front of us rumbled, and as we peered closer, a giant worm erupted from the rumbling spot, flying in a giant arc over us and crashing into the buildings behind us. The dragon and troll crashed into the building, destroying it instantly. ¡°We¡ have to keep¡ running¡± Jason said, clearly out of breath. ¡°Just, one minute¡¡± I said, as I sat down, breathing heavily. ¡°Idiot, if we don¡¯t go now, we¡¯re gonna die!¡± Jason said, clearly angry. ¡°Would death really be so bad?¡± I said. He walked up to me, slapped me across the face and said: ¡°It¡¯ll be the single worst thing you¡¯ll ever feel.¡± he said with a bit of fury evident in his voice. ¡°Worse than this?¡± I said, revealing a piece of debris stuck in my stomach¡ I was bleeding heavily, I knew that I was going to die. ¡°Jesus, Ash¡ when were you hit!?¡± he suddenly got worried. ¡°Running¡ a piece of debris hit me, I just kept running¡ ignored the pain¡ it hurts a lot more, now.¡± I said, painfully. ¡°Just stay there, I¡¯m gonna try to heal you!¡± he said. ¡°If you can heal¡ me, do it.¡± I said. ¡°Oh holy gods, heal this young one with your almighty power!¡± He said, as soon as I finished speaking. ¡ It didn¡¯t work¡ ¡°Shit, let me get that fucking thing out of you!¡± He said, pulling the piece of debris out of my stomach. ¡°AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!¡± I screamed, in pain. ¡°You¡¯re gonna be okay, Ash?... Ash!?¡± He said, worried. ¡°I¡¯m¡ not¡ dying¡ yet¡¡± I said, in pain. I feel my mind slowly fading... ¡°I¡¯ll try it again!¡± he said, hope evident in his voice and eyes. ¡°Oh holy gods, heal this young one with your almighty power!¡± It felt¡ better¡ but the bleeding didn¡¯t stop. ¡°Shit! You¡¯re gonna live, just stay with me! Goddamnit stay with me!!!¡± He kept healing me¡ until I was finally able to get up¡ without instantly screaming in pain. ¡°Just sit down, I¡¯ll heal you some more!¡± he said, still worried. ¡°We have to run, they¡¯ll get here soon¡ we¡¯ve been here longer than we should be¡ let¡¯s go!¡± I said, slowly walking through the backdoor¡ only to see a zombie right there! ¡°FUCK!¡± I yelled out, punching the zombie in the face¡ and falling on my ass. ¡°Ash!¡± Jason shouted as he ran to the zombie and kicked the living shit out of it. ¡°You okay Ash?¡± Jason said. I got up with a few grunts of pain coming from me, and said: ¡°Just¡ great¡ ha.¡± Then, I proceeded outside and said: ¡°Come on, let¡¯s go!¡± -------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 We were still running, after three days¡ we barely got any sleep¡ we were only running¡ I think we got away from the dragon and troll. But, I¡¯m not sure. They could be out there. Stalking us silently. ¡°Ash, go to sleep, they¡¯re gone, you have to stop worrying¡± Jason said, as he quickly drifted off to sleep. ¡°O- okay, goodnight Jason¡¡± I said, as I tried to go to sleep¡ it didn¡¯t work and I ended up staying awake for the whole night. --- I woke up the next day, to the sound of Jason screaming and explosions. ¡°ASH!!! GET UP!!!¡± Jason shouted at me¡ as he was being tackled by a reaper. ¡°SHIT, JASON!!!¡± I shouted as I kicked the reaper off of Jason. ¡°Grrrr¡± the reaper began growling at me and pounced onto me and stabbed me in the shoulder, causing a large amount of blood to come out. ¡°GET. OFF. HIM!!!¡± Jason shouted as he hit the reaper on the back of the head with a random pipe. It didn¡¯t prove to be that effective, but it did distract it, long enough for me to get away from the reaper and kick it in the face. ¡°GRRRR!!!!¡± It growled and pounced onto Jason and stabbed him in the chest, causing blood to come out rapidly¡ ¡°Fireball!!!¡± he said and a ball of fire hit the reaper in the chest, the recoil made it fly into a nearby wall, then he said: ¡°Quickly, run!¡± And, we ran¡ and shut the door behind us¡ we looked into the sky to see the source of the explosions¡ it was a guy in an old tank shooting at a dragon! He brazenly sat in the middle of the George plaza, one of the main attractions of Manhattan, while driving a vehicle similar to a tank, just the rear part seems to have suffered continuous explosions. The reddish dragon roared in the sky, and it lifted it wings, opening fire at once to the man. The man was neither anxious nor excited, instead he wiped the sweat on his chest away and aimed at the dragon in the sky. This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere. BAM! With one single shot, he managed to block the incoming fire and attack the dragon. The dragon roared, but trails of green blood could be seen dropping from near his wings. But the dragon roared yet again, and this time, the buildings around the Plaza collapsed. The man himself was unfazed, but we had to hide from the debris. Come to think of it, in the last days there¡¯s been quite a lot of debris raining down. I grabbed a metal plate. It was slippery and I couldn¡¯t get a good grip on it. So I grabbed a wooden plank in another pile of debris and used it as a shield, in case more debris fell down. And more debris did fall down, exactly where I used my plank... holy shit, I¡¯m lucky! ¡°Jesus, Ash¡ you okay?!¡± said Jason. ¡°Yeah, I¡¯m peachy!¡± I said, with a hint of joy in my voice. Jason just stared at me. ¡°Okay, dude, okay.¡± Then, the plank started to break under the pressure. ¡°SHIT!¡± I threw the plank away, at the same time the plank was breaking in half. ¡°Let¡¯s hide!¡± I said. The old man in the plaza was still firing at the dragon. ¡°Hey, old man,¡± I said, ¡°Come hide with us. There¡¯s a reaper running around¡±. ¡°I¡¯m not old, I¡¯m only 40!¡± The old man replied. ¡°Sure you are!¡± Jason threw debris towards the old man. ¡°Now, if you want to live, then either come with us or we¡¯re gonna bury you in debris.¡± ¡°Why, what did I do to you?¡± The old man replied as he shot towards the dragon again. ¡°We need to distract the dragon, so come with us! We¡¯ll use the debris as a distraction!¡± Jason replied. ¡°I don¡¯t need no distraction.¡± The old man replied. ¡°Just wait, you guys, once I¡¯m finished with the dragon, I¡¯ll get you!¡± ¡°What did we do to him?¡± Jason whispered to me. ¡°You just threatened him.¡± I grabbed a random gun on the ground and shot at the dragon ¡°So, we¡¯re gonna help him!¡± The dragon flew down and shot fire towards the tank. The man replied with another bullet, but this time the dragon evaded the bullet. Clearly this dragon is more intelligent than the dragon chasing after us earlier, now he knows what actually hit him. ¡°Jason, grab a gun! We¡¯re gonna kill this fucker!¡± I shot at the dragon a few more times, trying to catch its attention. Jason grabs a gun on the ground and blankly stared at it, confused. ¡°I¡¯d rather use magic against it, thank you. Icicle¡± He said as he gathered energy and threw a large icicle towards the dragon. ¡°What¡¯cha hell are you doing!?¡± the old man shouted as he shot at the dragon, again. ¡°Let¡¯s just say, it¡¯s magic!¡± I replied as I kept shooting at the dragon. ¡°That son of a bitch does magic!?¡± the old man said as he shot at the dragon again. The dragon got fed up with the tank and bit it in half, luckily the old man survived and is now running to us. ¡°Oh shit, help!¡± he said as he pulled out a pistol and shot the dragon seven times before he had to reload. ¡°Come on!¡± I said as I shot at the dragon a couple more times. ¡°You can make it! Fireball, Fireball, Fireball, Fireball, Fireball¡± Jason said as five small balls of fire started turning around his arm and he then said: ¡°FIRE!!!¡± and the small balls of fire hit the dragon in the eye¡ and the dragon fell. Then I got a weird blue screen with words on it and it said:
Level up!
Level up!
Level up!
Level up!
You are now level [50]
You have slain a level [60] Red Dragon.
You have gained a title: Dragonsbane
You have gained a title: Player
¡°What the hell!!!???¡± Chapter 4 ¡°Oh, did you level up?¡± Jason said as he went up to the deceased dragon and¡ cut it open. ¡°What the fuck are you doing Jason!?¡± I asked, curios and creeped out. ¡°I¡¯m just grabbing the gem¡ huh? weird, there isn¡¯t a gem¡ Ashton, look¡± he said, gesturing me to go to him. ¡°What do you mean? There is something sparkly right there.¡± I pointed to a large purple gem inside the dragon. ¡°Don¡¯t lie to me Ash, I can¡¯t see it!¡± He said, dismissing what I said. ¡°But it¡¯s¡ right here!¡± I said as I pulled the gem out and showed it to Jason. ¡°I can¡¯t see anything!¡± he said, angrily: ¡°Oh, shiny gem. Where did¡¯cha get it from?¡± The old man asked, staring at the gem. ¡°THERE ISN¡¯T A FUCKING GEM!!!¡± Jason shouted, enraged. But then there was a shuffling amidst the debris where we escaped from. A reaper emerged, orientating itself before spotting us, then it launched itself at Jason. ¡°Godfucking, no! Not again!¡± Jason hastily sidestepped the attack. The reaper got confused by the sudden evasive movement and halted in its track. Jason used the time to quickly launch a barrage of fireballs at it. Soon the reaper was only all charcoal and I got my first chance to inspect one up close. The head was just a burnt outer shell, the one spiders had. There where his mouth was supposed to be, only 2 nasty looking fangs He grabbed a sharp piece of debris and sliced its chest open and he said: ¡°THIS IS A GEM!¡± He said. I looked at his hand. Nope, he held nothing at all in his hand. ¡°Jason, there¡¯s nothing in your hand¡¡± I said, as I walked towards him. ¡°Well, there¡¯s nothing in your hand!¡± He said, pointing at my hand, which had a gem in it. ¡°Wait, if we can¡¯t see each others gems¡ is it because we¡¯re different¡ I mean, you can use magic¡ and I can¡¯t¡¡± I started saying until I was cut off by a screen.
You received a notice.
You are only able to loot things you have killed yourself.
You receive a bonus when killing beings from Valhalla.
Stealing the loot is prohibited.
¡°Wait, are you from¡ Valhalla?¡± I said as I walked closer to him. ¡°Yeah, why?¡± He said as he looked down to his own screen, then said: ¡°Oh.¡± ¡°So, I¡¯m from earth¡ and I killed this monster, that¡¯s why I can see the gem and you can¡¯t!¡± I said as I walked right in front of Jason and grabbed the invisible gem. I could feel something, but I couldn¡¯t take it away, it¡¯s like there was an invisible forcefield stopping me. ¡°So, we just received some kind of notice?¡± Jason said as he sat down. ¡°I think so¡¡± I said as I also sat down. The old man walked to us and said: ¡°Why the heck are you sitting down? There are goddamn monsters out there!!!¡± as he said that, we heard a deafening roar coming from the east. ¡°Old man, there were already monsters here¡ we just have more¡± I said in a monotone voice. ¡°Yeah, but those fuckers in the sky can breathe fire! and fly!!! Do you know how many people live on the roofs of skyscrapers, thinking that they¡¯re safe¡ looks like they¡¯re not safe anymore!¡± The old man said, with a strangely happy voice.Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. ¡°Oh, right¡ I forgot to introduce myself. I¡¯m Glenn, who are you two?¡± he asked as he extended his hand for us to shake it. ¡°Jason, and that¡¯s Ashton¡± Jason said as he shook his hand. ¡°Well, if it weren¡¯t for you two, i¡¯d be dead¡ or worse, one of those monsters out there, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.¡± Glenn said with an incredibly happy face. ¡°One of the monsters?¡± Jason asked. ¡°One of the monsters out there, the reapers and zombies¡ mostly, when they bite ya¡ you turn within 12 hours. I know, scary.¡± Glenn said, with fear evident in his voice. Jason stared at Glenn. He was probably pretty weirded out. Jason sobbed shortly. Yes, definitely weirded out. ¡°Then¡ my wife¡ my kids¡ they¡¯re probably dead¡ or¡ worse¡ oh god!¡± Jason fell to his knees, crying. ¡°Oh, damn¡ you had family. They¡¯re probably dead by now¡ those things in the sky... And the ones below¡ I¡¯m sorry¡± Glenn said as he tried to comfort Jason. ¡°Mary¡ Kyle, Lauren¡ They¡¯re all dead, and I couldn¡¯t do anything to stop it!¡± Jason said as he stood up and grabbed a gun from the ground and he said: ¡°I¡¯m gonna kill every single one of those fuckers!¡± He said, as he walked up to a zombie and: BANG BANG BANG Shot it multiple times, even after it died¡ And, now we have a horde on our asses. ¡°RUN!!!¡± Glenn yelled as he started running faster than I thought that old man could. Then Jason and I started running from the horde¡ but not before shooting a couple more of those fuckers! BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG Late at night we arrived at the outer circle of Manhattan. Come to think of it, we¡¯ve been travelling for 6 days straight, Manhattan is really big, considering the amount of houses in our way. On the other hand we had to rest a lot because of the ongoing amount of monsters. The old man called Glenn followed us all the way. I don¡¯t know how the hell he keeps up with our pace, but he has proven to be of huge help. He¡¯s a retired soldier of the federation employed as a security guard in Manhattan for a weapons factory, only his employer died due to a strolling reaper, and so did his income. So he decided to break into the factory, finding tanks orderly lined up after each other. Normally one man wouldn¡¯t be able to drive a tank, since there are at least five positions within a tank, which need to be filled, for example the driver, the reloader, the lookout, the commander or the communicator. But he decided to modify one of the smaller tanks into a semi-automatic tank. In the federation he was famous for his engineering skills, next to his reloading skills. Thus he only needed several months, but after he came out, he noticed, that his semi-broken semi-autonomous semi-tank semi-artillery vehicle was being fried by a giant red thing floating in the sky. ¡°And you just decided to attack it?¡± I asked incredulously. ¡°Ain¡¯t any other solution, kiddo.¡± He replied. He¡¯s been calling me kiddo ever since I told him my age. I didn¡¯t know how to react, so I just decided to ignore it. Soon the shadows of dusk fell over the houses behind us. Up front was only the barren desert. I sighed. With the sound of something tearing, a house in my left direction was ripped apart like paper. Oh heck no. ------------------------------------------ [XD, you wanted no cliffhangers¡ but you left it ON a cliffhanger] -Writer 1 _I meant that we should always leave it on cliffies, I like the antagonised screams of the readers._ Writer 0 [... ONWARDS!_ Writer 0 Chapter 5 The sound of tearing also alerted the others, they were awakened to the beasts presence by the time I looked at them, we all looked to the left. We didn¡¯t see anything at all though, and, that¡¯s what scares me. We can hear it, but we can¡¯t see it! How small is the monster? Or is it even invisible? ¡°Hey, Jason,¡± I said, ¡°is there¡ something like invisibility magic?¡± Jason only wriggled with his eyebrows. ¡°Are you thinking of something indecent here?¡± My head felt warm. ¡°No, we heard something loud just now, but I can¡¯t see it. So, I just wanted to ask¡ Is there invisibility magic, or maybe even an invisible monster? There are no small dangerous monsters like that in our world.¡± As I said that, I noticed Jason go paler and then he said: ¡°There is a beast that can camouflage with its surroundings. We called it the Death bringer. Everywhere it goes, it brings death and destruction. And nobody can see them easily. So, they lives on, destroying whole empires in nights.¡± Jason shuddered. ¡°So, is it just one or is there¡ an army of them?¡± As I asked, Jason¡¯s neck quickly turned to the left and he said: ¡°Usually they travel alone, since they can¡¯t exactly see their pack.¡± As he said that, we heard the sound of sticks¡ breaking. In the distance, we heard the wailful scream of a reaper. I¡¯ve never heard a reaper scream this gruesome before, but I know what a reaper sounds like, or, to be more precise, what he doesn¡¯t sound like. Not like the scream at all. ¡°IT¡¯S HERE!!!¡± Jason shouted as he started shooting violently in the direction of the reapers scream. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG When Jason stopped to reload¡ we heard it, the death bringer was still alive¡ and it was slowly going towards our direction. ¡°Kiddo, I think we should run.¡± Glenn said to me. Distinct other cracking sounds could be heard. ¡°How fast is that monster, Jason?¡± ¡°About ten times faster than a reaper on cocaine.¡± Jason gulped. ¡°We¡¯re fucked, aren¡¯t we.¡± Jason only replied with a short nod. Crack We heard the sound of cracking coming closer¡ and closer, until Glenn and I started shooting in the general direction. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG I don¡¯t know if we hit it or if we completely missed, I could only hope. Whoosh CRASH We heard the sound of another house collapsing in the wind. ¡°It¡¯s still out there¡± Jason whispered. I could tell, he was frightened. ¡°How strong is it?¡± I asked, hoping it wasn¡¯t that strong. ¡°Strong enough to destroy a building in a single swipe¡¡± Jason said, as a tear went down his face. ¡°Hey hey, Jason, everything¡¯s alright, we¡¯ll kill that bastard.¡± I said as I moved about. ¡°Do you have any water spells?¡± Jason nodded. ¡°I have one¡ it¡¯s just a straight water ball reaching around 50 yards away.¡± Jason said. ¡°I can¡¯t kill him with just that. Besides I¡¯m getting pretty empty on mana, I can only recover when sleeping.¡±Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. I thought that we could use the water to have its footsteps appear on the ground. But it looks like it¡¯s unfeasible. ¡°Shit, maybe¡ we could light a few fires and dig some pitfalls?¡± I said, hopeful. ¡°Not enough time. We¡¯d be dead by the time we dig a single pitfall. In other words, we are thoroughly fucked.¡± Jason said with a voice that seemed like, it was deprived of hope. ¡°Maybe we only have to dig one¡ right here, we could hide!¡± I pointed to our surroundings. Debris was still scattered everywhere, we hadn¡¯t quite left Manhattan. ¡°That might work¡ let¡¯s hope it doesn¡¯t have a good sense of smell.¡± Jason said, as a little bit of hope appeared in his eyes. ¡°Okay, let¡¯s start digging¡± I said, ignoring what he said about the sense of smell. --- After a short amount of time digging using earth magic, we made a decent hole to hide in. Problem is, we three men only barely fit inside, without weapons. ¡°Okay, put your weapons near the place! Hopefully we can grab them if it can smell us.¡± Jason said as he put his gun near where he jumped. ¡°Glenn, you go in first.¡± I said. Glenn retorted, he wouldn¡¯t go into this smelly hole, so I just pushed him inside. We waited for what seemed like hours. Waiting for the beast to either find us or leave us alone. It never came. But, it also never left. Buildings around us keep getting destroyed and one time a building landed near us, luckily none of the debris hit us. ¡°How much longer?¡± Glenn asked Jason. ¡°At best¡ when the sun comes up, at worst¡ the whole next day¡± Jason whispered. ¡°Shit¡± Was all I had to say in that conversation. ¡°What if another monster comes?¡± ¡°Dumbass, the Death bringer will kill it before it gets to us¡± Glenn replied. Jason just made a silencing move. After only 7 hours, the buildings stopped collapsing, and with a sigh of relief we carefully went outside again. The constant sound of charring from other monsters was ever-present again, no longer was the world only filled with the buildings collapsing. When I left the pitfall I looked around and could only sigh in amazement. All of the surrounding buildings have fallen, you could even see the capital city in the horizont. We took a rest and marched onwards to Jason¡¯s secret base. We found a small town from some survivors. I hope they¡¯re not hostile. ¡°Hey there.¡± Jason greeted as we walked to the town gate. ¡°What do you seek? Fortune, work or something else?¡± said a burly man at the gate. His eyes were fixated on Jason for a moment, then his gaze went back to normal again. ¡°We seek temporary refuge, there¡¯s only three of us. You can take our weapons, as long as you give them back when we leave.¡± Glenn said. The burly man looked at Glenn, then rubbed his eyes, before he smiled and pulled the chair back, standing up. ¡°Glenn, you old bastard. Is that you?!¡± the burly man asked with wide eyes. ¡°Thomas!?¡± Glenn¡¯s eyes also went wide. ¡°The one and only. Why are you here man?¡± ¡°One of those flying monsters got to me, if these two didn¡¯t save me... I might not be alive.¡± Glenn said as he gestured his hand toward us. ¡°Well damn, I knew you could survive anything. But one of those flying monsters!? Goddamn Glenn!¡± Thomas said, amazed. ¡°So, can we go inside?¡± Glenn asked Thomas and he replied with ¡°Yeah, sure. Just don¡¯t cause too much trouble for the ladies, Glenn¡± ¡°I won¡¯t cause TOO much trouble, he he he¡± Glenn said with a perverted grin on his face. ¡°So, Glenn¡¯s a pervert. At least he looks like one now.¡± I whispered to Jason. ¡°Pfft! Ha ha ha ha!¡± Jason burst out laughing, holding onto his stomach. Thomas looked at us. ¡°What¡¯s so funny?¡± ¡°Well, at least Glenn looks like a pervert now!¡± Jason gestured towards me. ¡°Pfft! Ba ha ha ha!¡± Thomas also started laughing like a mad man. ¡°That¡¯s not funny¡± Glenn said, clearly annoyed. ¡°Get in here¡± Thomas said as he opened the large rusted metal gate with his own two arms. ¡°Damn, he¡¯s pretty strong¡± ¡°Not as strong as some of the people I¡¯ve met¡± Jason replied. ¡°They aren¡¯t here.¡± I responded. The inside of the town was a little bit shabby compared to manhattan. But on the other hand, there was a tree growing on top of water. Water was scarce now, trees even scarcer. Because of the nuclear catastrophe some parts were completely devoid of trees, other parts are just jungles. Nonetheless global warming took a turn to the worse, and now we have to pay attention to not sleep too low, else we¡¯ll get suffocated. So we had to go higher and higher, and the higher we went, the colder it was. To top it off, the global warming also increased the discrepancy of the local temperatures, so apparently it¡¯s more cold than before the point Zero. In other words, trees shouldn¡¯t grow here. Either it¡¯s too warm or too cold, or too dry. But there is a tree here in the town centre, so, just maybe¡ There¡¯s hope after all. I really hope so. ___ _Went a little bit overboard._ Writer 0 [I can see that, luckily you know¡ science shit, I don¡¯t XD] -Writer 1 _This is where chemistry and geology pays off. They both can be lifesaving_ Writer 0 Chapter 6 It¡¯s been a few days since we came here. Just, the town was all desolate. Jason and I were in a pub, drinking water. ¡°Why isn¡¯t there any alcohol in a goddamn pub?¡± Jason asked. ¡°This is close to obligatory!¡± I stared at Jason. What the fuck is alcohol? The bartender seems to understand what Jason was talking about. ¡°Look here.¡± he began. ¡°If you¡¯re looking for trouble, then go elsewhere. This town doesn¡¯t have enough sugar to waste on stuff like alcohol, no matter how keen you are on it.¡± ¡°What is alcohol?¡± I asked. ¡°Alcohol is something that numbs your mind.¡± Jason replied. ¡°Tastes damn good, but only if it¡¯s distilled properly.¡± The bartender stared at Jason. ¡°You seem to know your stuff. Well then, I used to be a distiller for the Federation. If you can get me some sugar, I guess I could brew a glass or two.¡± ¡°Why sugar?¡± I drank another gulp of stale water. ¡°Because that¡¯s how you make alcohol.¡± The bartender filled my glass to the brink again. ¡°Now scram, you had enough, and I doubt Thomas is willing to pay for everything.¡± Ever since we¡¯ve arrived here, Thomas has been helping us a lot, offering us sleep and meals whilst talking to Glenn about all of their recent happenings. Meanwhile we took the initiative to explore the town. The town wasn¡¯t that big, compared to Manhattan it was just a speck of dust amid the storm. But, it had its charm. Like the old fortune teller also known as, the bartender, Max. His predictions were mostly correct, so that¡¯s why everyone was worried when he said. ¡°Death¡¯s coming to this town, we must evacuate!¡± After that, almost everyone started packing all of their belongings and left the town. That¡¯s why Glenn and Thomas joined us in the bar. ¡°Why aren¡¯t you leaving, Max?¡± Glenn asked as he readied his rifle. ¡°This is my home, I¡¯m not leaving it. No matter what!¡± he said as he grabbed a pistol on the armories shelf. ¡°People don¡¯t even know how many of my visions fail. ¡°Alright people, when that shit bird gets here, let¡¯s show it hell!¡± Thomas said as he grabbed a large gun lying underneath the counter next to him. Glenn nodded. No matter what, he wasn¡¯t leaving one of his old soldier buddies. ¡°Ash, grab the rifle on the top shelf, Jason you should grab that grenade launcher, if we¡¯re unprepared against this cunt, we¡¯re all gonna die!¡± ¡°Okay!¡± I said as I grabbed the rifle and the ammunition. ¡°Got it. What¡¯s a grenade launcher?¡± Jason asked. I sighed, grabbed the grenade launcher and gave it to him.Love this novel? Read it on Royal Road to ensure the author gets credit. ¡°If you pull the trigger, an explosion will occur, so don¡¯t shoot it inside!¡± Thomas said. ¡°Imagine a bigger fireball when it hits. Bigger than yours.¡± I added. Jason readied the grenade launcher. ¡°Alright. Anything I¡¯ve got to pay attention to?¡± ¡°The recoil.¡± Glenn said. ¡°Kills all newcomers. Proper procedure says I shouldn¡¯t leave you alone with a grenade launcher, but who cares.¡± ¡°Wow, you¡¯re such a caring man, Glenn¡± Jason joked. ¡°Is this the reason why your wives left you?¡± Thomas laughed. ¡°Fuck you too, Jason!¡± Glenn just got grumpy. ¡°Let¡¯s go!¡± Thomas stopped laughing. ¡°Ha ha, alright¡± Jason said as he continued laughing. We left the bar and¡ we saw nothing. The entire town was gone. Crack ¡°Oh no¡¡± Jason whispered. ¡°What the fuck is it?¡± Max said ¡°DEATH BRINGER, RUN!!!¡± I shouted as I fired my gun at the cracking noises. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG ¡°THE FUCK¡¯S A DEATH BRINGER!!??¡± Thomas shouted over the gunfire. ¡°The scariest fuckers you¡¯ve ever¡ not seen.¡± Jason said. ¡°What do you mean?, not seen?¡± ¡°They are invisible, fast and strong. ¡± I shouted over the gunfire. ¡°Shit!¡± Thomas said as he started shooting in the same direction. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG After what felt like ten minutes of shooting no further sounds could be heard. ¡°I-Is¡ is it dead?¡± Max whispered as he took a glass of water. ¡°I don¡¯t know¡± I said, scared ¡°Can¡¯t hear any cracking anymore¡± Thomas said, only to be interrupted by a loud Crack ¡°FUCKING RUN!!!¡± Jason shouted as he shot fireballs towards the cracking. ¡°FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL FIREBALL!!!¡± ¡°WHAT THE HELL!? YOU CAN FIRE FIRE!?¡± Thomas shouted. ¡°Don¡¯t question it!¡± I said as I ran. ¡°ICICLE FIREBALL ICICLE FIREBALL!!!... Summon Skeleton¡± Jason said. A skeleton rose from the ground and stabbed at the invisible monster, some blue liquid came flowing out. The liquid was just slightly glittering under the sun, but even from here I felt the depth of darkness contained within. ¡°JASON, RUN!!!¡± I shouted. ¡°Shit!, Summon skeleton. Summon skeleton. Summon skeleton.¡± Jason raised multiple skeletons from the earth. ¡°They¡¯ll distract it, GO!¡± And we ran. The ground changed from sand to mud, water was streaming down from the Everfrost Mountain. Behind us distinct cracking sounds could be heard. I looked behind and saw water splashing around, running towards us quickly. It seems like the skeletons weren¡¯t distracting it enough. Until Jason stopped for a second and raised several skeletons, letting them run away from the river. ¡°Let¡¯s go over the river. I don¡¯t know how good it can spot tracks, but his eyes seem to be good. How else could he see us through the settling dust? We might be able to shake him off.¡± Did Jason just now say something intelligent? We crossed the river anyways. After a few hours of running, Jason suddenly stopped and said. ¡°My base is around here.¡± We are in front of an abandoned mine. Up front there were a lot of weird looking turrets, at least not shaped like our turrets at all. And a familiar looking green troll. ¡°Welcome, to Valhalla.¡± --------------------------------------------- [Admittedly, 0 did most of the work XD] -1 _You did most of the previous chapter though. Around us was the lush green forest, something I¡¯ve often heard of, but never actually seen. The jungles are usually far more dangerous than anything else, even the Death Bringer probably would shiver in the jungle. But this here was different. It¡¯s not the aggressive jungle, where any step could take your life. Neither is it the hot desert, one storm after another. It was simply just calm and relaxing. Even the sun isn¡¯t as hot as before. I swear, even the temperature changed, it¡¯s like we stepped into a completely different world, a dream world. ¡°Valhalla.¡± I whispered. No, that name doesn¡¯t fit at all. But if this world¡¯s called that way, who am I to argue against it. Jason turned to me. ¡°I don¡¯t know what happened. Actually I was kinda transported out of this world here. There are also probably some guys from your world there. Hey, what do you even call your world?¡± ¡°Earth¡± I said, still astonished. ¡°Earth, doesn¡¯t that mean your world¡¯s called dirt?¡± Jason started to laugh. ¡°Beats me too.¡± I shrugged with my shoulders. Glenn meanwhile dragged Thomas to the weird looking turrets stationed in front, inspecting them with excitement. Thomas opened one of the turrets. ¡°This shouldn¡¯t even work¡¡± ¡°Let¡¯s just say, it¡¯s magic.¡± Jason said. ¡°Magic? This is magic?! What else can it do?¡± Thomas asked in excitement. ¡°Mostly, it makes life a bit easier. Telekinesis¡± Jason let a glass of water float towards him. ¡°Jason, my friend. Can you teach me magic?¡± Thomas asked, still excited. ¡°Let¡¯s check everyone¡¯s aptitude for magic first¡± Jason said as he walked off a bit and grabbed a weird looking device. ¡°What¡¯s that?¡± Max who was silent the whole time, asked. ¡°It¡¯s a device that shows you your aptitude for magic, and which affinities your best, mine¡¯s darkness¡± Jason said, proudly. ¡°I¡¯m going first.¡± Thomas said as he walked up to Jason. ¡°Okay, let¡¯s see here¡ an aptitude of 50 out of 100¡ that¡¯s pretty good and your highest affinity is¡ earth with 74%. That¡¯s, actually really good Thomas¡± Jason said with a smile on his face. ¡°Really?¡± ¡°Yeah, the older you get, the more powerful your magic will be. Take this.¡± Jason threw a small pill to Thomas. ¡°What does this do?¡± Thomas asked. ¡°It¡¯s what allows you to use magic, made from the synthesia plant. Eat it and you¡¯ll be able to use magic¡± Jason said, and Thomas instantly put the pill in his mouth and swallowed it. After that, we all went to Jason and learned our affinities and aptitudes of magic. This content has been misappropriated from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.
Ashton: aptitude 76. Highest affinities: Light/Water.
Thomas: aptitude 50. Highest affinity: Earth
Max: aptitude 63. Highest affinity: Illusion.
Glenn: aptitude 69. Highest affinity: Fire.
We learnt out affinities and aptitudes, and Jason was actually pretty impressed. He even said that he was happy that we had such high aptitudes, especially me. And that he was shocked when he learnt that I had a dual affinity, since it was ¡°Extremely rare¡±, but I think he said that to make everyone jealous. ¡°So, Jason. I¡¯ve been meaning to ask, but where is everyone?¡± Thomas asked. ¡°Either dead, or left. The idea of a whole new world sounded nice to everyone, until they actually entered it¡± Jason darkly said. ¡°You okay?¡± I asked Jason. ¡°My wife and kids, they went out there¡ in seek of adventure and fortune, without me, I said that I¡¯d catch up to them, I couldn¡¯t even find their fucking CORPSES!!!¡± Jason fell to his knees and sobbed. ¡°It¡¯s okay man, they might have survived!¡± I tried to comfort him, but he quickly replied. ¡°I found my daughter''s doll¡ she¡¯d never let go of it, ever! And¡ when I found it, it was covered in blood¡± Jason said, still sobbing. ¡°There¡¯s still hope, you didn¡¯t find any remains¡ right?¡± I asked. ¡°There were¡ a lot of dead bodies, most were unrecognisable. I know that, they were a part of the bodies! So stop trying to fucking comfort me, okay!¡± Jason pushed me away from him and started to walk into the cave. Glenn and Thomas just shared a look, and went after him. Right, they were war veterans, they probably knew what it took to comfort a man. So, I was left alone with Max. We didn¡¯t talk much, just practiced our magic. ¡°Magic,¡± Thomas had told us in a gloomy voice as he handed out his pills, ¡°is something not many are able to grasp instantly. You might cast the wrong spell, you might do something else wrong. What is magic even? I am not entirely sure, I never bothered to pay attention in the academy, but it¡¯s something like controlling strings going through the entire world. When you cast magic, you will be able to feel that string. Just try to focus on one of the strings for now. The spell to feel them is called ¡®Nullos¡¯.¡± That was before Thomas asked him about the situation in his world. I sat in the front of the cave. The trees were swaying in the winds, the grass, oh my god! Grass!, were tickling my legs. I tried to concentrate on myself. Jason spoke of something like a pull near our heart, one of the strings would always go through there. ¡°Nullos.¡± And I was infinite. I could hear the bumping of my heart, the bending of the whole galaxis, past beyond the boundaries of the universe. I could feel the multiverses, the otherverses and the noverses. Each of them had unique characteristics, and each had their own rhythm. Each second here was like a honey drop on the dessert, each molecule was like the venerating sound of waves clashing against the shore. I opened my eyes. It was already dead night, and Max was sleeping on the floor. I found myself on the floor too. Perphase over the passage of time the wind knocked us down like the surrounding grass. Only now do I know how precious every second was in this wonderful life. ¡°Magic.¡± I hummed. ¡°It¡¯s magic.¡± I got up under the starry sky. The sky blew past me, the trees bowed to the clouds. I stretched out my hand to the star. Yes, star. This is what it must be. That what my grandma spoke of so desperately. I wiped a tear. Maybe¡ Maybe I could grab a star? Take it away and treasure it? But then the sky would be incomplete, like a jigsaw puzzle with a missing piece. I sighed and went to the cave. Once inside I was greeted by the smell of something repugnant, and saw Thomas, Glenn and Jason all huddled up together, babbling incoherent sounds. Ah, right, of course. I walked outside again, just lying down next to Max. Phew. I keep feeling like I¡¯ve forgotten something. Something really really important, a reason why I shouldn¡¯t stay here, but get back to Manhattan. Oh. Right. My sister. --------------------------------- [Yay, chapter 7¡¯s done!] -1 _Hehe, to be honest I also forgot her, in case you all have been stumped. Check Prologue last paragraph lol._ 0 [When I say, My sister¡ I just said ¡°Who?¡± and also said: ¡°Back to the doctor then, (Doctor who XD)... Bye] -1 _Have fun o/_ 0 Chapter 8 You can call my sister explosion-addictive. Ever since she was born she always managed to blow up things the one or other way. Heck, I even went on a scavenging hunt so that she couldn¡¯t carry any more explosive stuff in, our house was already a minefield. That doesn¡¯t mean she doesn¡¯t know how to handle the explosives. I think she took some chemistry and physics lessons from uncle Stan, either way she actually utilizes her skills and probably blew up more zombies than I ever saw. I don¡¯t really like her that much. But she might be able to help us orientate in this new world. So, I pulled out a ¡°phone¡± she gave me. It just looked like a metal ball, unlike the phones installed in our houses. On the other hand it¡¯s the only one working despite the radioactivity. [Beep] ¡°Oh, big bro is that you?¡± I heard my sister¡¯s voice, but I couldn¡¯t even see her! ¡°Where are you!?¡± I shouted concerned. ¡°Home. When are you coming? I need more materials.¡± she said, in that horribly adorable voice. ¡°I¡¯m not coming back.¡± I said. ¡°What? Why not? I need you ¡r materials. Mostly¡ yeah, I really need more materials, I can¡¯t open that dragonhide!¡± I imagined her excitedly jumping up and down.. ¡°I said, I¡¯M NOT COMING BACK TO THAT MOTHER FUCKING HELL HOLE!!!¡± I shouted into the metal ball, catching the attention of Max. ¡°uuu~¡± I heard my sister cry and the sound of more beeping... ¡°Wait! I¡¯m sorry, I¡¯ll come home later. Just don¡¯t attack me with those robots, ok? It¡¯s just, there¡¯s such a nice forest here.¡± I distracted her. ¡°Forest?¡± She blinked. ¡°Are there trees?! Tell me where you are, NOW!¡± ¡°Elise, calm down. I¡¯m in a place called Valhalla.¡± ¡°Valhalla? That place where those different monsters come from? Great, come here and help me dissect this dragon!¡± She said. ¡°Wait, you killed a dragon?¡± ¡°Yeah! My robots went BOOM and KAPOW and the dragon went ROOOAR!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!¡± Elise shouted into my ears. ¡°Right, big bro, what level are you? And do you know anything more about it?¡± ¡°Level?¡± ¡°You know, the biggest number on your status panel, a little bit hard to miss if you have no eyes.¡± I shook my head. ¡°What are you talking about?¡± ¡°Just say status.¡± ¡°Status? I¡¯m not going to make a fool out of myself¡ huh!?¡±Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon. You have gained a title: Slayer of innocents.
When did I slay an innocent monster? And slayer of innocents? What the hell! ¡°So, what level are you?¡± Sis asked over the phone. ¡°It says 52.¡± I replied. ¡°Oh,¡± she said, ¡°you¡¯re a higher level than me. So, what kind of-¡± I interrupted her. ¡°Wait wait, before you continue, what is this all even about? I don¡¯t remember seeing blue screens before?¡± ¡°What titles do you have, I have Explosives expert, Mad scientist, Dragonbane and Robot creator¡± She said, completely ignoring me. ¡°Hey! Answer me!¡± I got slightly angry. ¡°Duh, all I know is that there¡¯s always that blue screen floating in front of you, just that it gets transparent. You can also improve your own body with this screen. Actually, when I think about it, isn¡¯t this like¡ super creepy? A screen deciding how you look and what you can do? Doesn¡¯t matter, but I really got smarter when I put everything into intelligence. Not like you care...¡± she mumbled incomprehensible stuff under her breath. ¡°Wait, what do you mean by ¡°improve your own body¡±? And please calm down and repeat the important stuff!¡± I said. ¡°I¡¯m not gonna run away.¡± ¡°You did.¡± ¡°5 years ago. Not now.¡± I closed my eyes. ¡°Anyways, you see¡¡± she paused. There was distinct yelling and shouting in the background, along with an explosion. ¡°Where are you?¡± For a while only the sound of wind could be heard. Then she answered somewhat out of breath: ¡°Sorry, that other dragon¡¯s been stalking me ever since I killed her husband. And I used up my explosives. That¡¯s why you need to come over so that I can experiment with sulfuric acid again!¡± I sighed. She really just couldn¡¯t stand still, now she even attracted dragon trouble. ¡°Okay, i¡¯ll bring you here. Just don¡¯t experiment on me!¡± ¡°No promises, but can you get there quickly?¡± She said, and I sighed again. ¡°Where should I pick you up?¡± ¡°How about¡ the eastern gate, think you can manage that?¡± I frowned. We left from the northern gate. This might be a longer trip than anticipated. On the other hand the whole road seems to be engulfed within the forest of Valhalla. Sounds like something I should talk to Jason about. ¡°Hey, Jason! I¡¯m going back to manhattan!.¡± I shouted. ¡°What!?¡± Jason walked out of his cave. I ran away. ¡ ¡ ¡ ¡°STOP FOLLOWING ME!!!¡± I shouted to Jason. ¡°I¡¯m not letting you die!¡± Jason shouted back, as he caught up to me in seconds. ¡°But you might die if you follow me!¡± ¡°At least you won¡¯t die alone.¡± ¡°Okay, let¡¯s get my sister!¡± I shouted. Jason shot a confused glance at me. Running behind Jason was Glenn waving his stick furiously. ¡°You kids, where are you going to? I need to go back to Manhattan anyways, so accompany this old man here!¡± Glenn shouted. ¡°So you are old after all!¡± I shouted back. Manhattan was just a few days away, well, whatever remained of it. ----------- [So, they just ditched Max and Thomas?] -1 _ Ehh, they¡¯ll suffer in Valhalla, it¡¯s alright._ 0 [I was expecting you to say: Ehh, they¡¯ll live¡ not that, that¡¯s just fucking cold man!] -1 [I like that.] -1 (again) _ So, what do you think of his sister? I¡¯m still not used to all the green, but at least I¡¯m not like Glenn, who¡¯s fawning over every plant as if it had been his long forgotten cat. I guess war does make people sentimental. Some. I couldn¡¯t imagine Thomas with his robust body fawning over a green leaf. We were running together, and had backwind. Birds and insects flew away before we neared, even the ground was smeared, our powerful steps kicked up the dirt, Even the ants were on alert, if their absence amid the ant hills were any indication. ¡°Where are the monsters? It¡¯s way too quiet!¡± I yelled to Jason running next to me. ¡°Ouch! Why did you yell into my poor ears?¡± Jason said completely ignoring my question. Hey! ¡°WHERE ARE THE MONSTERS?¡± Jason just ran off to Glenn and whispered something like ¡®inconsiderate¡¯. I think he¡¯s just as confused as I am. Soon the trees cleared and we arrived in the middle of a clearing. Heck yeah, this is where monsters will swarm us from all sides. I could delay the travel a bit. I have no intention to go under the control of her Robos again. Unfortunately no monsters appeared. On the other hand I could see some monster corpses at the edge of the clearing. When I ran closer to inspect them, the wind blew and I could hear the faint sound of something surring. The corpses themselves had traces of being shot at everywhere. Oh, damn, sis, how the heck did you do this. I ran on to the eastern gate. The trip was really quiet, not a single monster disturbed us on our way. I faintly saw other traces of monsters, some showed signs of being cut and burnt together. She couldn¡¯t have completed her laser experiments, right? I really don¡¯t want to go to her anymore. Not even half a day and I already arrived at the eastern gate of Manhattan. Things really get a lot quicker when you don¡¯t have to be afraid of monsters. From this distance, I could already see the amount of destroyed houses. Damnit, didn¡¯t I tell uncle Stan to pay attention to her when I couldn¡¯t? How did it escalate so quickly? I saw Uncle Stan sitting on top of a mechanical dragon laughing madly and holding some bottles of beer. The head of the mechanical dragon was made out of glass, I could even see some of the controls inside the cockpit, and even more important, I could see my sister inside. The mechanical dragon had been built by her in our basement using a lot of materials from god-knows-where. Of course I knew that, and I made her promise to not take the robot outside until something very serious happened. Firespitting flying monsters are NOT serious, if anything her rocket launcher would make charcoal out of the dragon. The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement. ¡°OY SIS, GET DOWN HERE AND GIVE ME AN EXPLANATION!¡± I yelled to the cockpit. She walked over to me, nearly stomping me in the progress. Jason just stepped back, fear evident in his eyes, and Glenn sat huckepack on Jason since whenever and just hugged Jason. The robot heaved one of its arms and smashed it down, the sound of metal grinding together sounded, and then went still. My sister waved her hand towards me. ¡°GET OUT.¡± I shouted. She still waved her hand at me. Ugh, this just reminds me of picking her up 10 years ago. It had been a cold snowy night. The lights were already out, the windows all shut. Nobody wanted to make their cold go worse than it had already been. Yet I still walked outside, packed in jacket and more. Because now was the perfect time to hunt for mutants. The cold also affects most, except for some of the undead, so it was the perfect time to gather meat for us, despite what they all say. Despite the cold Harnock running around. I shouldered my backpack and my spear, eager to fill our bellies. Mother and Father were both sleeping, and brother was absent this night. Certainly I¡¯ll give them a surprise tomorrow. Tomorrow. Today. Midnight struck, and with this my hunt commenced. First I went into a dark cave within the dry desert. There probably has been a river here before, but it got all stuffed with sand and other trash. But sometimes I¡¯d look at a stone and imagine the water running through it, crystal-clear non-radioactive bleached-drinkable water. None of the crazy radioactive water, the one you now had to distill and add dirt into it. Some kind of crazy chemistry, but anybody not following that usually dies. No matter how many people die to dirt. But this cave was different. A mutant inhibited this cave, so obviously there were scratch marks everywhere, more of them meant the mutant has been staying there for a long time, slowly going crazy with the pain and loneliness. But there were a lot of scratching marks, more than I¡¯ve ever seen. And there was also blood. ¡®Weird.¡¯ I had thought at that time. ¡®Blood. Hopefully no Dracula or their blood-relatives.¡¯ I chuckled. Usually I chuckled seldom, but this time I really couldn¡¯t help myself. It just had been too long, sitting around at home and doing nothing, just helping with menial tasks. No, I wanted to hunt too, I wanted to earn our keep also! I went into the cave. There I met my sister, inside this rotten stinking cave. She was valiantly fighting against two Ghouls. Quickly I grabbed my spear and stabbed into them. At that time I didn¡¯t know what to do with this girl in front of me. She was just all tatters and all bones. Nobody would like her. Being disheveled means being dead. And if anything, nobody wanted to be dead. I scrunched her up. She scrunched me up. I then said: ¡°You can have the ghouls.¡± She just replied: ¡°I don¡¯t need them. You should have them.¡± While saying that, she waved her hand, as if she was sending the ghouls away, as if she truly didn¡¯t care about the ghouls. That¡¯s when, I decided to bring her back with me. The same wave greeted me now. There in the giant robot, she waved her hands, shooing me away. And just like the fangs of the cold Harnock entering through my back, I felt the presence of another monster the presence of the one I couldn¡¯t fight against. ¡°HIDE!¡± I yelled and ran towards the robot arm. Jason followed behind me, Glenn was still on the back of Jason, setting something off. Was that dynamite? I couldn¡¯t care less. Glenn threw the dynamite behind us. BOOOOOM!!!!! The explosion was beautiful and satisfying, even though it threw a lot of smoke up. I really hoped whatever was behind me was dead, because if it wasn¡¯t, then we¡¯re going to have a bad time. A really bad time. That happens when you have a Death Bringer Dragon. Or a mutant sandstorm. This also happens when you are fighting against a thundering cloud. The dynamite in Glenn¡¯s hand shot back to us, never set off at all. And I truly realised what we were fighting against. The forces of nature, the thunder cloud, actually just water vapor, but if the black centre in the middle of the cloud, or if the inexhaustible zapping of the cloud was any indication, just inching closer to us whilst threatening us to zap at any time. The robot in the basement wasn¡¯t enough for this pile of vapor shit. ___ (Yes, actually people die of that. Can die today too if they drink too much distilled water. DISTILLED. Your cells will explode, since you are not a plant, because water keeps entering your cells. babies actually died of that, truly a gruesome death.) _Sole writer of this chapter, 1 is too busy with his biting nephew and stoned sister._ 0 _Tired as well.
