《The Last Gray》


 Prologue

    The never-ending universe is full of surprises. It is home to many galaxies with planets and stars of various size. Among all those galaxies there was one galaxy called the Evil Eye Galaxy, which is home to Planet X. In fact, billion years ago this planet was only a sphere going through the galaxy when one day it got caught in the gravitational field of the Black Star. The Black Star rays had some uncanny effects on the inhabitants of Planet X.


    The inhabitants of this planet are called the Zords. They were nocturnal creatures who survived by consuming the energy emitted from Planet X. However, the moment the planet went into orbit around the black Star, things started to change. The Zords got divided into two groups. The first one stayed on the surface of the planet surviving by consuming the energy emitted from the Black Star. On the other hand, the second group crawled underneath the surface surviving through the energy emitted by the planet.


    The ones who stayed on the surface evolved at a fast pace. In 3 years of exposure to the Black Star, the Zords turned into human-like creatures. They called themselves Grays. They were technologically advanced but relatively small in size. In addition, each one of them had a unique ability. These abilities required a lot of time to be controlled and used safely. This is why a group of seven Grays who managed to fully control their power dictated a law, which regulated the use of these powers. They were called the seven kings.


    The seven kings knew something that the rest did not. King Unum had the ability to sense energy. This ability allowed him to find that Planet X had a large reserve of energy inside it. The problem is that it was being reduced by the day. Therefore, Unum asked Tribus to use his ability to see what cause this. Tribus told him that there are some creatures, which absorb energy. He added that their amount is huge. The only thing that the seven king did was leaving these creatures alone. The reason behind this is the fact that they value the life of any creature.     King Quattuor had the ability to see the possible futures that he can face. During his meditation, he saw that the Nocturnus are going to attack the Grays. Not sure if this can happen, he created Virtus Academy. It is a school where the grays learn controlling their powers. The more they use their power the more energy their body emit.


    After centuries of using their powers. The Grays started to emit energy stronger that the one emitted by the core of Planet X. Seeing that the energy on the surface of Planet X is high, the Nocturnus crawled into the surface consuming the Grays. The more energy they consume the more powerful they get. In addition, some of the Nocturnus developed into a stronger species called Dwellers. The Dwellers were smart and stronger than the Nocturnus. Therefore, they started to control them.


    Three of the Dwellers called the Three Guardian found in some manuscripts that the Seven Kings protected the Nocturnus and didn¡¯t want to kill them. As a result, they gathered the last Grays and protected them inside a Dome and they covered the energy emitted by the Grays. Sadly, this didn¡¯t last for a long time. At some point, the Dwellers found the dome because the two Guardians died from using too much of their power to hide the Grays.


    In his deathbed, the last Guardian took five of the young Grays and sent them to earth using his teleportation power. He sent the Grays knowledge with them to help them control their power when they grow. The five Grays reached earth in 1800 BC. Somehow, they grew up to look like humans; however, you can spot the difference in their DNA. They managed to blend with the humans and expanded their bloodline. The first contact between the humans and the first Grays caused Humans to get some traits from the Grays like superpower and energy. During the past years, some of the bloodlines descending from the Grays vanished, making me the last direct descendent from the Grays. My name is Lou Davis and this is my story.

 The rise of the Nocturnus

    Centralia is the town where Loo was born. He spent 17 years of his life there. It has a very small population, due to the fire under it. It is said that the uncontrollable fire that happened in 1962 caused the coal underground to burn and it is still burning until now.


    He wakes Monday morning to his mother¡¯s voice.

    <li>Loo, wake up you are late. Come on wake up.</li>

    He went on to dress up, while his mother was preparing a quick snack for him. He grabs the snacks and run to school. The neighbors are amused by seeing him running to school like a freak to not miss his class. The old man living across the street is always there in the morning sitting in his fancy chair to see Loo running and to great him. Loo had time issue. He simply can¡¯t arrive on time to an appointment, or bring finish something in its due time.


    Finally, he reached school. Lucky for him he arrived on time to find Ned waiting for him in his new electrical wheel chair.

    Loo entered his class. This is a bad day for him. All seats were full except one seat next to Zoe. With his Heart beating heavily and sweat running down his head, he walked toward the empty seat. After sitting down He looked at Zoe and said hi in an awkward tone. She blushed and smiled at him and greeted him back. Both of them were feeling like this because they had crushes on each other. Zoe is shy girl so she couldn¡¯t admit her feelings to him, For Loo he was clueless and didn¡¯t want to lose her friendship.


    At twelve, the bell rang. Loo run to meet Ned in the cafeteria. On his way, he bumped into someone. This is Kevin a senior student, and he is the last person on earth you want to miss with.

    <li>Are you stupid or what?</li>


    <li>Calm down Kevin, It was just an accident.</li>


    <li>No, I don¡¯t care. What I will do you now won¡¯t be an accident.</li>

    Before doing anything, a violent earthquake shook the area. Loo took advantage of the distraction and run away from Kevin.

    <li>Yeah I¡¯m fine Ned. This earthquake saved me from an actual beat down.</li>

    Loo stopped talking for a while and seemed to be very distracted. Like if he is in deep thought. And he saw in the corner what it looks like a tail.

    <li>Yeah I¡¯m fine. I¡¯m just having a weird feeling that I can¡¯t explain.</li>


    <li>Maybe you are getting sick. I¡¯ll ask my father to get you home.</li>

    Ned¡¯s father took the two boys to their home. Laying on his bed, Loo had the same uneasy feeling again. Moments later the ground started to shake again.     The firefighter arrived and sealed the area around the hole. Moreover, they told people to stay away from it and that they will be on high alert in case something happens.


    When they left, Loo felt the same weird feeing again. Somehow, it urged him to look at the bush behind him. The moment he looked at the bush something moved. He brushed it off because the neighbors have curious dogs.


    That night Loo couldn¡¯t sleep. He felt like if someone or something is watching him. Out of the blue, that weird feeling strikes him again. Then his window broke down and an abnormal creature jumped on him. The creature was in the size of an adult dog. It was black with an oval head, a strong physic, and a long strong tail. The creature felt very heavy compared to it relatively small size. It screamed a high-pitched scream. In addition, it opened it mouth revealing a weird tongue. The tongue had teethes in it. Before plunging it tongue in Loo¡¯s heart, his father showed up out of nowhere with a sword on hands decapitating the scary creature with one fast swing.

    <li>Scared Loo asked his father. What is happening? What is this thing?</li>


    <li>I don¡¯t know what is this, but I want you to calm down. And, don¡¯t talk about this with anyone.</li>


    <li>Sure, I won¡¯t, but you owe me a clarification on this. Loo said while leaving</li>


    <li>He grabbed Loo by the hand and added. Ned is not an exception. I don¡¯t want you to tell him about this too.</li>

    He saw fear in his father¡¯s eye. Loo was confident that his father was keeping something secret from him. Loo¡¯s father knew something about this creature, but he simply didn¡¯t want to talk about it.


    Next morning, on his way to school, Loo noticed many holes in the ground. These holes were similar to the one in front of his house. This time he reached school early to hear everyone talking about the earthquakes and these weird holes that appeared over-night.

    <li>Loo, you won¡¯t believe what happened.</li>


    <li>Let me guess? Kevin didn¡¯t hang you by your pant today?</li>


    <li>Stop trying to be funny. Look last night my family and I were sleeping peacefully in our house when we heard a loud bang in house. After checking, we found a huge hole on the ground and my dog was missing. We kept looking for it when I saw a trail of blood.</li>


    <li>Don¡¯t tell me your dog got killed.</li>


    <li>Ned explain in a sad tone. Well, something killed my dog. The dog was shredded. It looks as if you threw it in a meat grinder.</li>

    Loo mumbled to himself, maybe Ned is talking about the same creature that attacked me last night.


    Loo and Ned walked back to their home. On their way, Loo told Ned what happened the night before. Ned as usual didn¡¯t believe him claiming he might have been dreaming. However, Loo is sure about what he witnessed that night.


    While watching TV, an urgent broadcast stopped the movie. The broadcast is an alert about an attack from some unidentified creatures. They were similar to the one that attacked Loo last night, but these one are bigger that the one that attacked me. They plunge their tongue in people¡¯s heart and suck their blood. Loo¡¯s father and mother looked at each other and said it¡¯s time.


    The three family members hear glace shattering sound behind them followed by an ear-piercing scream.
