《Divine Shopper》 Ch 1 - Impulse Buy Leon looked outside his apartment window and sighed. The zombies had grown more numerous overnight again. But that was to be expected with no one daring to attack the gate. At first, there was nothing to be done, that was over a week ago, now nothing could be done. What about the military? Well, after the initial shock they bombed the zombie gates and that worked fine, then gates open inside military bases around the world, spewing zombies right in the center of humanities only hope. So that was that. Yesterday he had, out of boredom, made a Molotov bomb and thrown it into the midst of the zombies outside. By then the zombies had been so thick the street beneath their feet was impossible to see. The fire had spread rapidly burning most of the zombies like matches, about one in ten, though, seemed to be fire proof, and another one in ten just got lucky and the fire burned around them. After that, the street was comparativelyclear, but still, way too infested to actually leave. Plus there was no way to know if there were any zombies in the apartment building. Leon wasn''t planning on leaving until he ran out of food and water, and that would be awhile. The day the zombies showed up he was planning on having a house warming party, everything but the guest wasready, and given the undead on the streets, he hadn''t been upset about no one showing up. New to the city, most of the guest were work friends, so there was no one nearby he had to risk his life to save. The family was in a city on the other coast and friends had their own loved one to worry about. Nope, if this was the end of the world, then he could watch it at his leisure, no frantic scramblings or daring rescues for him. Leon readied another Molotov and tossed it out the window. The lights had only gone out yesterday so entertainmentfor today would be burning the undead. He wondered if he had done any damage to the zombie gates in the area with his first fire bomb. That night just has Leon is deciding if it''s worth leaving the couch for his bed, something strange happens.

The strange box stays in front of his face no matter where he moves his head, and his hand passes right through it. It isn''t until he gets over his surprise and reads it that the message disappears.
"Well, that was weird." He says out loud to no one. "I wonder if I''ve finally started to go crazy..."

"Just so you know, this doesn''t answer the question of whether or not I''m crazy!" He shouts to the air. Outside his apartment, he hears the moans of the undead pick up in intensity at the unexpected noise. He silently berateshimself for his impulsive idiocy. Even though he''s finished reading this box, it doesn''t disappear like the other. Finally, it changes to something slightly different.

Leon doesn''t consider the information all that difficult to understand. Somewhere in the galaxy, someone decided earth was a lost cause but was required to drop the survivors some help. The help is in the form of this system of boxes, it seems.
Ok, but how is any of this supposed to help us survive or take back the world? Sure the credits are nice, but how much was each zombie worth? And where am I going to find a Galactic Store Terminal?
With nothing better to go on, Leon mentally flips a coin and thinks ''open''at the random skill.

Fire spitting, Flying false-reptile, from another world. Solitary creatures that will attack every living thing for food. Not recommended for purchase.
Overpowered skills and abilities were available, but they were way out of Leons price range. Divine level flight, cost 1.5 Billion credits but flight [growth] cost only 1000 credits. The skill would get better the more it was used, but the downside was the time needed to really grow it. Every skill was like that.
Some cost health to use, some cost mana, and some cost Stamina. Some cost nothing but Leon needed to meet the required criteria in stats. The flight skill had all four types. He lacked the 40 willpower to get the basic flight of that type.
Leon closed the store and leaned back. Before anything he needed to know what it was he wanted to do. Kill all the zombies? Rule the world? Just get out of town and go find his family?
Well yes, the last one would be his goal, that meant traveling clear across the country.
Okay, so how did he want to do it? Buy all the guns and Rambo all the way to the Atlantic? Go space marine, maybe? Just get the flight and make it up as he went?
Leon knew he didn''t want to buy a sword or any melee weapon. He wanted to keep the Zombies as far from himself as possible at all times. Taking it one step at a time Leon opened the shop to purchase the things he knew he wouldn''t regret no matter what path he took. First, converting health, mana, and Stamina into each other. After that was increased regeneration of the three, plus and active regeneration skill. Then the basic resistances, mainly poison, physical, magical, elemental, curse, and disease. Throwing Flight, teleport, invisibility and x-ray vision in the basket Leon mentally purchased his choices from the shop. It wasn''t until the 21 basic abilities only came up to 10,500 credits that he remembered the 50% discount. Laughing Leon decides to go all outand choose much more before checking out. A few hours later, having chosen 50 regular level 1 skills and abilities for 25,000 credits, Leon views his skill list Spoiler: Spoiler

It''s impressively long, But other than the summons he hasn''t yet chosen any real attacks. The shop has basic magic skills, like fireball or lightning strike, but for now, Leon feels too tired to really give them a proper look.
Pulling his club from the inventory, just in case something goes wrong, Leon uses the summon creature skill. A puff of smoke appear out of nowhere and when it clears standing there is an ordinary looking fox. Leon decides to use analyze on it.

With that Leon created one more Bone warriors and ordered them to stand watch at the windows and doors. Due to the necromancy skill slightly lowering the cost of the bone warrior, he manages to have just enough MP. Feeling safe now, Leon''s head hit the pillow after a long day indeed. Ch 2 - Cost of a rare class Leon was up early despite how late he had gone to bed. Well early for him, what with the nonexistent need to do anything or be anywhere lately. The bone warriors still had seven hours on them and he had no fear of the fox while he was awake, so he instructed them to roam the building and hunt down zombies. He was careful to make sure he told them not to hurt any living people. If they saw any they were to salute and stay still until the living were out of range. I didn''t mind if they were destroyed, but hopefully, they would be useful, before they were. In the living room, the fox had curled up on the carpet. Most of the water in its bowl was gone and the slab of beef had been devoured as well. It looked up briefly when Leon came close but then went back to sleep. He checked it with analyze only to see that its loyalty had gone up to 23%. ''must havebeen the food''. Checking his own status, he was startled to see his mana was still empty. Mentally poking around the status box finally revealed the reason why.
Mana Necessary resource to fuel magic
Mana regeneration .0028/min
Even with the meditation boost while sleeping, he had gotten back only one MP so far. Sighing loudly, he decides to browse the shop for regeneration potions. For 50 credits each, he buys potions that restore 100 points of health, mana, and stamina. 7500 credits later, he figures that will do for now.
Opening the inventory for the mana potion, he is reminded that he still has a class book to use. The inventory also contains something that wasn''t there last night.
Galactic Store sample
Card power [Stamina] - Receive power through cards. 12h
He had to browse the store to get a better understanding of the sample, but when he did, he found many types of cards that could grant power. Most were one-time use, while the sample power would let him use any type of power card at reduced cost. For now, at least he didn''t think they were worth buying for a power he only had for 12 hours.
Also inside his inventory was the random class book. Leon didn''t really want to use it. He''s seen some of the classes available for purchase and they included just about everything one could think of. Mechanics of every type, from spaceship to motorcycles, lawyers, planetary emperors, cosplayers, cartographers, bounty hunters, Gas giant harvester.
The random class book really would grant a random class, but for 8000 credits he could somewhat choose his class instead.
Class Scan
Combine with Random Class book to find a random class within existing skills and abilities.
Last night Leon had simply chosen skills that spoke to him, but it was obvious now that he had a large preference for magic, and this would practically guarantee a magic class.
After the purchase, the two products combined into a thin booklet. It didn''t seem to have many pages and when Leon opened it, a red light shot him the face, then the booklet disintegrated.
Leon waited for something to happen but nothing did. Sitting on the couch, he activated the meditate skill and watch the fox sleep.
And an hour later, his status screen popped up without his calling it.
It seemed he''d finally gotten a class.

S. T. +6 skills/spells Can control 5 summon per level, Elemental summons take up half a summon slot
The class required a bit of exploration, but in the end, Leon understood a few things more about it. First, it was a rare class, above regular and superior, but below elite, and supreme, godly, and divine. He would have been upset at only getting a class that ranked 3 out of seven, but he learned classes can grow, once they hit Level 100. There would be the lucky few who got a godly or divine class right away, but would they be able to take full advantage of them? who knows.
The penalties and benefits seem to apply to both a mage and a summoner. Even if Leon wanted to become a melee fighter now, it wouldn''t make sense to do so, with the 25% reduction in physical damage.
Most summons came with a timer, hence the Elemental prism which could hold summons and slowed the timer from progressing. He would need to buy some for light and dark elemental as well. Light and dark did not count as Elemental magic, but the Bone warrior did count as summons. The elements are the four standards and their derivatives. So Earth, Fire, Water, Air, Metal, Plants, lightning, and Ice.
The 6 extra skills he had gotten were;

After reviewing the free spells, Leon decided to buy elemental summons of the ice, metal, Lightning, and plant types, as well.
He also managed to bring up a summons list but it just listed the three summons he already had out. The fox had 16 hours left on its timer, while the warriors were down to four. They were still alive and he hadn''t checked his credits so he didn''t know if they had found any zombies in the building.
They took up three of Leon''s five slots so he decided to summon four elemental, But that could wait until he went outside. And he was going outside. He decided that if he couldn''t do it after gaining so much, then he might as well buy a gun and...
Leon made himself a hearty breakfast and then cleaned himself up. putting on the bite-resistant jacket, he left out more water and meat for the fox, the stood in front of the balcony door. After a few minutes of hesitation, he opens it... and promptly threw up.
The stench had always been there, but the closed door had blocked a large portion of it out. With the door open the overwhelming odourassaulted Leon''s senses. He felt it in his throat and in his eyes. He debated buying skills to dull his senses but decided against it. Even if he was rich by the system standard, he wasn''t about to waste credits in that way.
Standing on the porch and ignoring the mess that was once breakfast, he looks down at the masses of zombies, that had grown once again overnight. The gates have to be destroyed.
As far as the news could tell, before they all went off the air, the zombies weren''t contagious, in that they didn''t turn people into zombies with a bite, but they did spread all manner of other diseases. They poured endlessly from the swirling dimensional gates that popped up randomly anywhere they pleased.
Once the gates were destroyed, one still had to destroy the zombies that were already on earth.
Well, better get started.
Flying doesn''t feel much like anything, Leon doesn''t fly Superman style, he mostly levitates standing upright. It''s a warm summer day, which might be what is encouraging the stench, so the 15 miles per hour of the skill don''t generate enough wind to be a bother.
While it may not feel much like anything, looking below to the earth still creates a thrill in Leon''s heart, he is, after all, flying. Soaring to the top of his 20 story building and landing on the roof, Leon wonders what he should do next. Kill zombies, of course, but what''s the most efficient way to go about it? He summons a fire elemental to see what they can do,

''The Gates!'' Ch 3 - Death from above Leon flew around the area, slightly awed and frightened by the sheer number of zombies making their way towards the battle area. If he couldn''t find those gates and take the pressure off, then eventually they would manage to break into the buildings and put the residents into more danger. He started this, so he had to end it before that happened. First higher ground. Flying above the building, then higher still, Leon Finally looked down from almost a mile up. The streets were truly packed with the undead, far more than he though. The battle are was drawing them from all over and those who went towards the battle drew those who saw them move. The chain reaction was hadn''t spread that far yet, but with time, there would be no stopping it. luck was on his side though, the zombie portal were colorless distortions, but they always formed at ground level. With very little to attract the zombies once they exited the gates, they tended to clump right on their spawn area. Leon identified four of them within 10 miles of his building. Suddenly he fell from the sky. "Ahhhhhhhh!" Panic swept through his mind. Instinctively reaching out for any solution, he used his [telekinesis] and air magic to slow his fall. The moment of reprieve, allowed his mind to realize hie forgot to renew [flight] before the hour was up. His attempt to do so now was unsuccessful, as the air magic was draining his MP fast with the need to keep something as heavy Leon in the air. Forcefully calming his mind, he drank an MP potion and recast flight. "Whew!" Sweat coated his face and shaking wracked his body at the near death experience. Checking his status, he saw he has gained 2 levels already in flight and that the re-deadening of so many undead as granted two levels as well. Flight still cost 100 mp, but it as gained 2 mph in speed. Ten bonus points await distribution as well. he immediately throws them into INT, raising his Mp from 182 to 282. Realizing he has no time for panic, he heads toward the nearest zombie gate. It''s in a park not too far from his building. A few minutes later finds him hovering over the clear sphere of energy. It isn''t currently dislodging any zombies, but that can change at any moment. The zombies in the area have noticed him, but his biggest concern is how to destroy the gate. He has no idea how tough it is, or how it''ll respond to being attacked. His summons may be able to take it down, assuming they survive long enough, but they won''t. He looks at the undead and gets an idea. Flying low enough to be just out of reach of the zombies, Leon uses his [Command Undead] skill. 40 MP disappear, but there is no change in the zombie he has targeted. Getting even closer, he triggers the skill again. Still nothing. Frowning Leon checks the skill.

Hovering in place, he uses 280 mana to cast [Charged Ice Storm]
Just over seven minutes later, no zombie stands withing the area of the miniature storm and the zombie gate as been destroyed, bursting like a soap bubble midway through the attack.
This attack could be used as his go to, not with such a large area of effect, but it would do nicely in destroying the gates with too many monsters near them.
Ready to leave, something catches his eye. Landing, Leon pick up the clear card from the ground. It has the number ''1'' on it and disappears after a few second in his hand.
Checking his status he notices the number of credits as finally risen.
So, this is the part where we need to pick up drops then? Fine.
With the destruction of the gate of the hundreds of zombies near it, he has gained two more levels and now has a total of 25 summon slots. With the fox and Bone warriors taking up 3, he has room for 22 more bone minions or 44 elemental summons.
With every bonus point thrown into INT, he now has 404 mp. Many potions later, 44 incredibly varied elemental summons stand in the park. A bit of experimenting later and he is disappointed to find that he won''t automatically receive what is summons pick up.
Sighing, he buys 20 one credit bags from the store and have them pick up the hundreds of credit cards lying on the ground. After that, they are to assault the dead and collect the cards as well as anything else that might prove useful. Rinse, then repeat.
Leaving them to it, he takes to the air in search of the next portal.
The highway entrance houses a gate crawling with zombies. The area is covered in crashed vehicles of those who failed to escape the city. Unlike the zombies he''s encountered before, some of these have gain levels, most likely be having killed the former passengers of the many wrecks.

The roads seemed to have drawn far more of the zombies than the park. Well, it won''t matter, all he has to do is fly a few feet above the portal and repeat the storm attack.
Suddenly, the danger sense which had long become a sort of background sense in the back of his mind spikes rapidly. The number of enemies has caused the skill to grow more rapidly than any other. At level 12 it''s range was 86 yard. Whatever was coming was already well inside the danger perception range of the skill. Ch 4 - Undead Ammunition Leon shot into the air, making sure his force-field was also deployed. At level one it was weak, but luckily so were the zombies. Stopping mid-air to look down, almost cost him his life. When he turns to see what triggered his danger sense, a zombie smashed against the transparent barrier of his shield. Leon was too surprised to react, but at this height, the zombie was doomed. Scrambling for purchase against the smooth shield resulted in nothing, and so it plunged to the earth, its opened mouth moaning its sorrow at the loss of its meal. While watching the first zombie free fall to the ground, a second hit his force-field. This time the shield gave out and zombies arm reach for Leon even as the lost momentum started to drag it back to the earth. Rather than float around for the third undead missile, Leon activates both teleport and invisibility. Just as he did so, a third zombie occupied the space he had just vacated. Invisibility was far from perfect at level one, so he stayed still as he tried to find the source of the attack. It wasn''t hard, not far from the highway underpass, a group of undead that looked 10foot version of undead Barbarians, were searching the sky for their target. In their hands were their weaker cousins, ready to be thrown at any moment. Leon shook his head slightly, there was no way it was physically possible for them to be throwing fully grown zombies almost a tenth of a mile into the air. But I''m, flying and invisible at the moment, so who am I to complain. Moving painfully slow and redeploying his shield, Leon allowed himself to drop withing scanning range of the new threat.

Second tier monster! There were only three dolls and their levels weren''t that high, but they were way stronger than any of the other zombies Leon had seen before. Two of them were resistant to ice and the other to fire. They scanned the sky for any sign of their enemy with the patience of the dead. Leon thought about the best way to attack. Any summons would be swarmed and his only decent attack was an AOE that took sometime to cast. Sighing quietly, he flew back into the air once more browse the store. Diving back into the store was as overwhelming as always, but he quickly focused on what he wanted. With a little over 33,000 credits left that six, second-tier attacks with his discount. He didn''t spend too much time thinking about it, just choosing a basic attack of four elements of the second tier. Those would be able to handle most situations, and he was far better equipped to handle this new world than most already. If he needed more from the store then he would just have to hunt the zombies and earn the credits.

Ch 5 - A Goblins first Dungeon Zeegal was rather enjoying this summon session. He didn''t know if this was typical of how these things went, this being his first time summoned, but so far his master was mindful and the enemies legion. Sharp goblin teeth appeared with the thought of the rewards he would earn this session. Another of the plague bringers tried to sink its own teeth into Zeegals arm as he removed his dagger from the head one of its companions. His iron armor held nicely. These minions were no match for a defender of low capital. The bigger brutes were another matter, but luckily, his master had first gathered his other summoned servants before assaulting the other gates. Zeegal was at first overwhelmed by the variety of beings that served his master, but in the end, it was of little concern to him as there were more than enough enemies to earn merit. He wasn''t sure how it worked on another world, but on his, once you made and completed a summoned contract, the rewards could be anything from skills to stat points to titles to weapons or artifacts. It all depended on how well one served. One could be fearless on summoned missions since death merely ended the session and brought you back to your world of origin, rarely more than a few second after you left, no matter how long the mission took. Dispatching a few more of the plague bringers around him, Zeegal watched the other summoned servants distract the monstrous plague bringers while his master finally managed to unleash his spell into the sky. Having seen it twice before, he knew the time to retreat was now. His master flew away from the area the spell would take place in while giving a mental command for every being to retreat. Zeegal felt the order and grouped up with a few being more his size to fall back. Injured summonare carried by those who had the strength and they, in turn, are protected by the uninjured. Breaking into one of the immense building near the battle site allowed them to set up defensive barricade while the storm outside destroyed the plague bringers. The master healed those who needed it, further impressing any being who hadn''t witnessed it before. Few master would waste energy healing what would be easier to replace. The lobby was crowded but somehow, they still only had just enough bodies to hold off the dead from both inside and outside. This fortress must have fallen early. Zeegal doesn''t know much about the circumstances of this world, but it doesn''t matter. A being can be summoned to do just about anything and the variety of world to visit were endless. Once his master finished healing, he collected the clear cards that appeared when the dead were destroyed. Collecting them mid battle was dangerous, but it seemed important to his master. They only managed to get a fraction of what dropped, but his master did not seem upset about it. The glowing bones that also appeared from the destroyed dead seem to both fascinate and repulse his master, but he collected them just the same. Before the storm finished, his master summoned more being to replenish his ranks. Zeegal had long learned a trick in his own world to discern affinity, and so could tell all these beings were summoned under the elemental distinction. Zeegals contract lets him be summoned under the distinctions of; Living creature, Metal element, Earth element, and Companion being. The roles and powers allowed under each type of summon were different and his not small amount of lifesaving''s had been used to afford the four different distinctions, but the potential gains were very much worth it. The end of the storm resulted in his master''s mental order to break out of this fortress and clear the immediate area. Zeegal and the other being his size charged into the dead first, giving the larger slower being time to extricate themselves from the building and bring their power to bear. Unsurprisingly by now, some of the larger dead had survived the storm, however, it seemed the gate had as well. Well, this is new. --------------------------------------- Leon was not happy, his summons are managing to hold back the dead, but that wouldn''t last if the noise of battle drew too many other into the area. His [fire-bolt] splashed off of the portal gate. the rest of his attack skills fared no better. Floating closer to the shimmering sphere, he looked closer.

...well fuck. No attack seemed to phase the thing, and the information from analyze was less than promising, but Leon had a sneaking suspicion what he was dealing with. Leon ordered 3 of the smaller faster summons into the gate, 2 fairies, and a small golden bird. They came out almost immediately, with solemn nods to him. "Yup, it''s a freaking dungeon." Rather than worrying about it too much, he mentally orders everyone into the thing. Once half his force are in, he flies in himself. The inside wasn''t the underground cave he was expecting, but it wasn''t much better either. An endless graveyard dominated the land. in the distance a large house, maybe a manor of some kind sat alone. At his back, behind the portal, an impossible thick forest block any direction of travel except for towards the manor. If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. The area directly around the gate was bright with green grass for about 10 yards, but after that, the b-movie horror scene took over. Dead grass, broken gravestones, the occasional mausoleum all leading up to the heavy fences and gate of the gothic-looking manor. Leon assumed the ''Boss'' would be found there. Once his forces are through the gate he prepares for the zombies to follow. Five minutes later he had to assume the dead couldn''t or wouldn''t come through that way. Sighing loudly he took a look at what he had to work with. This was the fourth gate he has attacked and the last withing ten miles of his building. In that time he had gained a few things.

With a total of 40 summoned slots, he had 74 elemental summons with him now, thanks to their half slot ability. All 35 bonus points from leveling had gone to INT, raising his MP nicely. His curse, poison, disease and physical resistances had also gone up, proving the fight until now had not been one-sided. He had been forced to buy potions to cure disease, poison, and curses. Gravitokinesis had risen when used to ease the mana cost of [flight], as had telekinesis. All of the kinetic skills had eased the cost of the elemental magics and had also risen accordingly. The sheer number of enemies made danger sense his highest skill at 19 and charged ice storms number of kills made it his second highest at level 12. Flight, of course, was a close third at level 10, since he rarely spent any time on the ground. Even now he hovered just over the heads of his ground-bound summons. Those that could fly are ordered to stay between him and the sky, or specifically any enemy that could come from the sky. After making sure everything was in order, he and his minions started their attack. As expected, the moment they put a foot on the dead grass, zombie arms shot from the ground followed by zombie bodies forcing their way to the surface. Grouped up closely the summons marched their way towards the manor. Any being with a ranged attack let loose, while those without mostly defended them. Not all of the summoned had weapons, and Leon didn''t want to arm them with the only thing he had so far picked up.

He ordered is forces to directly pass by close to one of the tombs. When the door burst apart under the fist of the dead-eyed dolls inside, the larger summons consisting of golems, cyclops, half giants, treants and more fell upon them as soon as they stepped foot outside the mausoleum. In the meantime, Leons was busy dealing with the three dolls from the second tomb. The distraction of trying to fight them and direct the summoned at the same time resulted in a direct hit on weakened shields from the intercontinental undead. His shield popped like a bubble, barely slowing the dead man that plowed into him mid air causing him to tumble uncontrollably. Teleport was a gamble could have launched him 10 yards closer to the ground or into the sky, too dangerous. Curling into a ball and redeploying his shield before he hit the dead grass saved his life, but everything still went black when he hit.
