《Re: Demon》 Prologue Hi guys! First time making something like this so if any of you see something wrong like grammar, say it. It will help me a lot to improve. I hope you guys enjoy reading! ^-^ Prologue ¡°Grey Greenwood, I know you¡¯re confused but let me say this, Welcome to the after-life. Unfortunately, you have died. It is a pity, but your life is over. I am a god who guides the soul of the people who died. ¡± Someone suddenly spoke to me in a white room. In the room was a set of office desk and chair. The one who announced that I died sat in the chair. If I were to describe him, I would say he¡¯s a five year old boy. I looked around the room and there isn¡¯t a single door or window at all. What if this is just a dream? And he said he¡¯s a god? A little boy? ¡°I see you are having doubts because I¡¯m a little boy. Grey Greenwood, Seventeen years old. The eldest brother of the greenwood siblings and also the heir to your father¡¯s company. You like to read books especially light novels. You even wished to be reincarnated in another world if you die. Is that all you want to ask?¡± I nodded and the boy closed his laptop. ¡°Then I¡¯ll ask you something. Do you want to live again? Although in another world. I know you wished for something like that. Heaven is kinda boring so what will you choose? Live again in another world or go to heaven?¡± Wait I¡¯ve read this situation in books. Being reincarnated in another world. It¡¯s not a bad offer. Now, go forth.¡± After hearing that, the circle produced a bright light and after that, I lost consciousness. * ¡°Find that girl! Search for her! She couldn¡¯t have gone that far!¡± What is this noise? I¡¯m hearing a lot of footsteps. I feel tired and my body hurts. I opened my eyes and looked around. I¡¯m in a jungle? The trees here have black leaves and looks kinda creepy. I looked at myself and apparently I have a body of a six or seven year old kid? My body has several bruises and lastly I checked down and it seems that I¡¯m a girl. ¡°I think life¡¯s going to be rough from now on.¡± By the way it¡¯s really dark here. The grass in this forest is tall so I can hide using it. Moreover there¡¯s a tree behind me making me hard to spot. Now let¡¯s just wait until these guys go home. ¡°We found the girl!¡± Huh? They found me? How? Did they use some kind of magic? The men ran but not in my direction. Wait... So they¡¯re not after me? Phew! Just to be safe, I¡¯ll just stay here and I¡¯ll go when it¡¯s safe. ¡°Mommy! I want to go home! *cries* It hurts!¡± I saw the mage with some other men and they¡¯re holding a little girl. I guess she¡¯s the same age as me. Sorry little girl but I can¡¯t help you. After all, I don¡¯t know much about this world and I don¡¯t want to be sold. Is slavery common in this world? Let¡¯s think about that another time. Right now what I need is a good rest. I thought I would start as a baby but it seems I¡¯m wrong. Now, is it safe? I don¡¯t have any magic or weapon with me now and I¡¯m wearing a tattered white blouse. ¡°It¡¯s really cold. Are they gone? I¡¯m not hearing any screaming so I guess they¡¯re gone.¡± I just need to be quiet so I won¡¯t be discovered. I stood up and slowly walked. It¡¯s dark but I can manage. I hope I don¡¯t encounter monster or the bad guys earlier. ¡°Heh. I thought we already caught all the children but it seems like we missed one.¡± Where?! Fuck! I need to run! Dashing at high speed, I tried to run away but it seems that running is useless. ¡°Hey little girl, Come with me quietly and I won¡¯t hurt you.¡± There was a man jogging beside me while I¡¯m running at top speed. I guess this is it. I stopped running and surrendered to the man. He grabbed my right arm while he suddenly spoke. ¡°Hey, I found another one. Increase my pay alright?¡± after walking for a few minutes; we arrived at a place where there is a carriage and I was put in a large cage at the back of the carriage together with the other kids they caught. I guess I can sleep here but there¡¯s a problem. Majority of the kids are crying out loud which makes it hard to sleep. * ¡°That one is a good girl so I guess we can leave her here to sleep more.¡± I¡¯m actually awake but I pretended to be asleep since I don¡¯t like unnecessary pain. I heard them saying ¡®We have to discipline the kids here so they would obediently obey¡¯ earlier. When I was a kid, if my father sees me doing something bad he¡¯ll hit me with a belt which hurts. I guess in here they would do something heavier than that since they¡¯re going to sell us as slaves. ¡°Get out! I¡¯ll count one to three and if someone doesn¡¯t come out after I finish counting, I will punish him Understood?¡± ¡°ONE!¡± The kids started to run. I¡¯ll just pretend to be asleep always so I can escape for these situations. After waiting, the place got quiet so I opened my eyes to see if there¡¯s someone else here. Finally I¡¯m alone. I can relax now. The room here doesn¡¯t have anything. All I see are blankets and the walls are painted blue. ¡°Oh. I thought Alex gathered all the new ones for disciplining. Hi there! What¡¯s your name?¡± A boy came in the room. Blonde hair, fair skin and blue eyes. I¡¯m sure this kid will be a chick magnet when he grows up. Now that I think about it, I haven¡¯t seen my reflection. I don¡¯t know how I look. Name? I don¡¯t have one. ¡°I don¡¯t have a name.¡± After I answered, I noticed that the boy is staring at me. Oh before I forget I¡¯m going to borrow a mirror from him. ¡°Uhm, can I borrow a mirror?¡± ¡°Oh a mirror? Wait¡± The boy went out and he went back with a mirror in his hand. He handed the mirror to me and now for the moment of truth. Long black hair, pale white skin and blue eyes. I¡¯m a beautiful one aren¡¯t I? I looked back to the boy and he¡¯s still staring at me. I gave him back to the mirror. ¡°Thank you.¡± I think this guy likes me and I¡¯m not happy about that. After staring at me for a few seconds after receiving the mirror the boy said goodbye to me and went out of the room. The kids went back to the room after three hours? I¡¯m not sure because there¡¯s no clock here. Some were expressionless and some were crying. Some men went in the room carrying some food. All of us were given equal amounts of food. Soup and bread. The kids aren¡¯t allowed to come out of the room unless they¡¯re told to do. At evening, they gave us the same food for supper. After eating supper, we were given one hour to do what we want but there is absolutely nothing to do in here at all. After that, we sleep. This routine continued for six days. I¡¯ve been always obeying what the men say so I don¡¯t get scolded nor disciplined unlike other kids. ¡°Hey you two come with me.¡± While I¡¯m busy doing nothing, one of the men who¡¯s always disciplining us called two girls. After calling the two, they didn¡¯t return here. Maybe those two were sold. Days passed and our numbers were greatly decreased. ¡°Hey, you come with me.¡± It seems like it¡¯s my turn now. Alex gave me a change of clothes, a black dress. After changing I followed him. ¡°Hey! You look pretty!¡± I turned around and I saw the boy who let me borrow the mirror. ¡°Thanks.¡± I replied. ¡°It seems that someone is going to buy you now. Oh before you go, my name is Zeke. I hope I can meet you in the future. Bye!¡± This guy likes me. No doubt about that. ¡°Bye.¡± After talking with Zeke, We continued walking. Alex stopped in front of a stair. ¡°Go.¡± I went up and I saw two people drinking tea. ¡°Oh there she is.¡± A man in his thirties wearing a top hat and monocle spoke to the man in front of him. ¡°Hmmm... She¡¯s pretty. I¡¯ll take her Grog.¡± The other guy who¡¯s wearing a long black coat spoke. This guy has short spiky brown hair, fair skin and crimson eyes. He looked at me and I glared at him. ¡°She has no name it seems Zarzex. Hey little girl. He is Zarzex. He¡¯s going to buy you so treat him with respect.¡± I nodded. I have no choice don¡¯t I? The guy named Zarzex handed a pouch full of gold coins to Grog. ¡°Shall we go now? Oh by the way your name from now on is Mordred.¡± Well it¡¯s not a bad name I guess. Chapter 1: Demon King Yahallo! Enjoy reading! ^*^ Chapter 1 After giving me a name, we went out. I looked back and the building where I lived for a few days is really huge. Slave trading is a good business here huh? ¡°Gonna miss someone there?¡± Zarzex suddenly spoke. ¡°No.¡± Zarzex looked at me for a few seconds and replied ¡°If you say so.¡± ¡°By the way, why did you buy me? Did that man named grog recommend me?¡± I¡¯m curious. Why did this man buy me? Does he like little girls? If it is then I¡¯m in danger. Even if I run, this guy will definitely catch up. The first maid who spoke has a white spiky short hair, tanned skin and gray eyes. The second one is a girl with curly long black hair, white skin and black eyes. I need to stop this before disaster happens. After all, girls are scary beings. ¡°Uhm, Where is Zarzex?¡± The two stopped glaring at each other and both of them looked at me. ¡°*Cough* sorry for our attitude. Milord is in his office.¡±The tanned maid answered. There it is again. What¡¯s with the milord? Is Zarzex a king? Now I¡¯m getting curious again. ¡°Can I see him?¡± At last I got off the huge bed. ¡°Unfortunately you can¡¯t but milord said that he will come here later after his work is done. Now, I¡¯ll be introducing ourselves.¡± The tanned lady and the other one bowed. ¡°I am Sharle and this is Chloe. From now on, we are your maids¡¯ milady. Your food is ready shall we bring it here?¡± Milady? I¡¯m getting confuse now. I¡¯m just a maid bought by Zarzex and I¡¯m getting special treatment. ¡°Y-yeah thank you.¡± The two went outside of the room. Now I should look around. This room is really huge. It¡¯s like a house. How rich is Zarzex? The furnitures here look really expensive. Nobody is guarding so I can go outside right? I slowly opened the door to see if someone is outside and luckily there¡¯s no one. Before those two come back I¡¯ll take a look of Zarzex¡¯s house. ¡°How big is this place?¡± I¡¯ve been walking for a while and it seems I¡¯m at the third floor. The window is even bigger than me.¡± I looked outside and I saw a huge garden. I also found the bathroom and it¡¯s bigger than the room I was in earlier. I think Zarzex is really a king. Huge paintings were on the wall. While I¡¯m in the middle of exploring, I heard Sharle and Chloe screaming. ¡°Milady! Where are you?¡± Not planning on going back to my room. I want to explore more. Now where should I go? After exploring for a long time and constantly hearing the two maids screaming milady, I found a door different from the other ones. I opened it and I saw painting of myself. There are even pictures but not all of them are me. Some were paintings and pictures of a beautiful woman in her thirties. She has white long black hair, white skin and blue eyes. Same features as me... I suddenly remembered something. ¡°Zarzex said that I look like her yesterday. Is he referring to her?¡± I went closer to the paintings. ¡°Alisa Vermillion¡± that was the name of the woman and... ¡°Mordred Vermillion¡± The name of the girl who looks like me. ¡°She looks exactly like you. That¡¯s why I bought you. I¡¯m pathetic aren¡¯t I? Buying you because you look like her.¡± Huh? I turned around and saw Zarzex. That surprised me. ¡°I see. I guess I¡¯m not born unfortunate in this world. With that, he became my father and I became his child. After our drama, we found the two maids crying because they can¡¯t find me. My father Zarzex called the two and I waved my right hand to them while sitting on his shoulder. After that, an enraged Alexa appeared and scolded father. ¡°As a demon king, you have a lot of work! How many times do I have to say this to you?!¡± Apparently my father is a demon king which really shocked me. Chapter 2: Surprise Chapter 2 ¡°Is there anything you want princess?¡± ¡°I want books.¡± I¡¯m currently talking with my father in my room. He visits me every day despite of his busy schedule and I¡¯ve been seeing Alexa¡¯s enraged form every day. It¡¯s actually funny. ¡°Is there anything you want aside from books?¡± Actually I had been requesting for books so half of my room is full of books already. Surprisingly, I can understand the writings in the books in this world. Lately, I¡¯ve been reading books about magic. There are demons in this world so magic must exist. So far I found some basic spells which I can perform easily. Sharle and Chloe know how to do some of the spells in the book so I asked them to teach me. Mana is needed to use magic but at the same time, depleting your mana is also bad. A few days ago, I tried to use a spell which is not recommended for me. My mana was burned out and I was out for almost two days. According to Sharle, father was panicking when the news of me fainting reached him. ¡°Aside from books?¡± I think father is scared of me doing things from the books I read. I can¡¯t blame him because when you run out of mana, you will either die or you will be in a coma. In my case, I was lucky that I didn¡¯t die or fall into a coma. Hmmm, aside from books? I think I want a sword. Yeah definitely a sword. ¡°I want a sword.¡± Sweat started to cover father¡¯s face. He looked away and I heard him mumble ¡®a sword? Why does my princess want dangerous things?¡¯ ¡°Uhm, anything els-¡°Before he could even finish what he¡¯s saying, I immediately cut him off. ¡°No. I want a sword and that¡¯s final.¡± I looked away with a ¡®hmmp!¡¯ ¡°Ok! Ok! Daddy will buy you one! I¡¯ll buy you one ok?¡± Yes! If I remember, I have a book here about sword techniques. Maybe I¡¯ll start reading that one. ¡°She¡¯s coming.¡± My father looked at the door. I heard heavy footsteps approaching here. I guess Alexa¡¯s here to get my father who ran from work again. ¡°Princess, daddy will come back later. For now I need to escape from the demon that¡¯s going to take me.¡± He gave me a kiss on my forehead and he jumped out of the window in my room. I¡¯m not surprised that he jumped out of the window. Of course Alexa will know if you keep doing it. The ground shook for a moment and after that, I looked at the window only to see my unconscious father being dragged away by Alexa. Now back to business. I grabbed a book and started reading it. According to the books I¡¯ve read previously, there are eight elements. Water, earth, fire, wind, thunder, light, darkness and void magic. Void magic is the most rare of all the elements because beings who has this magic are considered as ¡®Gods¡¯ because void magic is the most powerful of all. Void magic has the power to erase someone¡¯s existence or kill someone without leaving any injury; In other words, targeting someone¡¯s soul. I wonder what element my father has. I haven¡¯t seen him fight or use a spell. I¡¯m sure he¡¯s strong because he¡¯s a demon king. A human can normally have one element but they can have two to three elements if they¡¯re gifted. Lower class demons have one to two elements while mid-class demons can have three to four elements and lastly, demon kings have five to six elements. There¡¯s even a hero among the humans who had seven elements but that was long ago. I also read how a demon becomes a demon king. Some are born as demon kings but some are not. For those who are not a demon king, they need to kill over one hundred thousand demons or humans. A demon king who have killed five demon kings will obtain one of the seven deadly sins and will ascend as a true demon king. ¡°Sharle, father is not the only demon king is he?¡± ¡°Yes. There are currently twenty four demon kings.¡± Twenty four? One can easily become a true demon king with that number. Nevermind that. If there are other demon kings, then this means I¡¯m not safe. The other demon kings may use me to kill my father. I¡¯m not even a demon or am I? I don¡¯t even know my age. ¡°How will you know if someone is a demon?¡± ¡°You can¡¯t really know that. We demons are a professional when it comes to deceiving. Milady, do I look like a demon?¡± Hmmm, sharle looks like a human to be honest. ¡°No.¡± Even chloe looks like a human. ¡°But if I do this¡± Black aura suddenly appeared around Sharle and she started to transform. Two horns came out of her head, her gray eyes became black, a silver gauntlet appeared on both of her hands, and her feet also changed more like it grew. Her boobs didn¡¯t change- wait why am I saying this? The maid name Sharle changed to a badass demon. ¡°I look like a demon now right? This is called demonification. Demonification lets a demon release all of their power but demonification consumes a lot of mana so demons only activate it when in combat. Turning off demonification decreases a lot of your power but it also saves mana.¡± Sharle turned back to her human form. So you can¡¯t know if someone¡¯s a demon. Now I¡¯m back to square one. ¡°One more thing milady, demons start as a human. After reaching ten years old, one will undergo their first demonification to know what rank of demon they are. I think that¡¯s the information you wanted to know.¡± Ten years old? So I still have a chance? Being human is not bad but I¡¯m the daughter of a demon king so I need to be a demon. Well I have to wait since I don¡¯t know my age. ¡°Thank you Sharle.¡± I continued reading the book. I need to know things about this world as much as possible. * Sharle¡¯s POV ¡°Hey chloe. Mordred is really a smart kid. When I was at her age I would play around and I wouldn¡¯t even touch books.¡± She even casted a tier 2 fire magic a few days ago. She learns too fast. ¡°I know. Besides, you felt it right?¡± Chloe replied. ¡°Yeah if she¡¯s a demon, she will be ranked higher than a mid-class demon. Her mana pool is too large. The tier 2 fire magic [Firestorm] she casted was more powerful than it was supposed to be. She didn¡¯t faint because her mana is not enough. The spell was too powerful that it knocked her out. That¡¯s why we have to stop her from casting spells again.¡± Chloe nodded. ¡°That¡¯s our job. We don¡¯t want to see our lord crying again do we? He hasn¡¯t been this energetic but when he found her, our lord has started smiling a lot.¡± Yeah. We need to protect our lord and her daughter like how he protected us. * My father didn¡¯t visit me today. Maybe Alexa did something to make him do his work. Sharle went out because she was tasked to buy something so Chloe is the only one with me. I¡¯ve read almost half of the books father gave me so maybe I¡¯ll ask for more later. I¡¯ll read later. Right now I want to go out. ¡°Uhm, Chloe can I go out of the castle?¡± I want to see and explore outside. ¡°I¡¯ll ask your father about it. Please wait here milady.¡± Chloe went out. I guess I have to wait. I don¡¯t want to cause trouble after all. While waiting, I grabbed some books. ¡°Princess~!¡± I heard my father and my door suddenly flew. What the hell?! The door was only centimetres away from me. I felt my chair getting wet. ¡°Daddy is here~ Chloe said you want to go out? Daddy will come with you.¡± That¡¯s good but I think I need a change of clothes first. After changing my dress, we went out. I¡¯m riding again on my father¡¯s shoulder. First, we went to the garden. I saw some familiar plants like the rose and I saw some horrifying plants. Some plants here are alive. Not just alive, they freaking eat meat. After exploring the garden, we went to the training area. ¡°How rare of milord to come here.¡± A man wearing a full black armor suddenly spoke. He looks so cool. ¡°Hey pladios. So sorry about the super late update. I had to get my requirements for the school I¡¯m enrolling in and also bad news for me. My knowledge about his world is kinda complete now so I¡¯m reading books about magic and weapon to gain knowledge on how to protect myself. After reading, I always go to the training area to watch the men there fighting. ¡°Going to the training area later milady?¡± Sharle always accompany me to the training area. He has a well built body, tanned skin, brown eyes and black spiky hair. ¡°Oh my beautiful Sharle!¡± Reynaldo knelt in front of Sharle. ¡°I want you to know that I have always loved you!¡± While Reynaldo is saying sweet things, Pladios appeared topless and full of sweat. ¡°I know this may be a bit too quick but will you marry me?¡± after saying that, Reynaldo closed his eyes while smiling. Sharle is not even listening or looking at him. Sharle is not there anymore.¡± One of his underlings poked Reynaldo. He immediately opened his eyes to see Sharle talking with Pladios. The bouquet of rose dropped on the floor as well as his body. I think that really hurts but he knows the risk. This isn¡¯t the first time that he tried to propose to Sharle. He has tried about seven times already. All with the same results. This guy doesn¡¯t give up at all. All his underlings came near him to comfort him. ¡°Retreat! Boss is heavily wounded!¡± they carried Reynaldo and quickly disappeared. I looked at Sharle and Pladios and it looks like they¡¯re having a good time. I don¡¯t want to disturb them so I took a stroll because it seems that the men in the training area are on break time. ¡°I really want a swooooord. *sigh* Oh I know! I can borrow a sword in the training area! I¡¯m such a genius!¡± Walking back from the garden I suddenly felt someone watching me. I looked around and I saw a shadow but it threw a dagger at me and disappeared quickly before I could get close to it. IT HURTS! Is it an enemy spying? I need to get back quickly. * I ran. Yes I ran. I remembered that I¡¯m still a kid who can¡¯t defend herself from bad people. Why did I even bother going near the unknown guy? The knife hit me at my left shoulder. I arrived at the training area holding my left shoulder and I¡¯m also crying right now. Sharle noticed me and she ran towards me. ¡°What happened? Are you alright? Who did that?¡± She hugged me and the men noticed my bleeding shoulder too so they stopped training and came near me. I can¡¯t stop crying. ¡°What is the commotion abou- milady?! What happened?!¡± Pladios appeared and he came near me. He removed my hand and he looked at it. Sharle removed Pladios¡¯s hands and she carried me to the castle. ¡°All of you go secure the whole place! I need ten men with me! NOW!¡± I heard Pladios ordering the men but my consciousness is leaving me right now. ¡°Milady! Keep your eyes open! Stay with me!¡± The pain is spreading. It hurts so much. ¡°sharle... It hurts...¡± Sharle looked at me and she smiled softly. ¡°You¡¯re going to be fine. Just stay with me ok?¡± I nodded and she ran faster. Pladios appeared with his men. Sharle looked at him and Pladios nodded while his speed goes up. The men surrounded us. ¡°Sharle she seems to be poisoned. We need to move faster.¡± One of the men talked. Sharle looked at me and she smiled ¡°you¡¯re fine. Nothing bad will happen to you.¡± * ¡°Let her rest first. Ask questions tomorrow.¡± The doctor told them before leaving the room. Zarzex sat beside her daughter¡¯s bed. Mordred is currently sleeping. Alexa, Pladios, Sharle and Chloe also left the room. ¡°This is my fault! I left her all alone.¡± Sharle punched the wall and Chloe stopped her. ¡°It¡¯s not your fault Sharle. We didn¡¯t know that there was an intruder.¡± Sharle looked down and bit her lips. Chloe hugged her ¡°It¡¯s going to be fine.¡± Tears started to flow out of Sharle¡¯s eyes. ¡°Yeah it¡¯s not your fault Sharle. We need to tighten security from now on.¡± Pladios tapped Sharle¡¯s back and he left. Alexa kept quiet and stared outside of the window. * My shoulder hurts... I opened my eyes and I saw an unfamiliar room. Where am I? I looked around and I saw my father sleeping next to me. He must¡¯ve been worried to death when he saw me. I moved slowly so I wouldn¡¯t wake him up but he woke up. ¡°Hey princess. How do you feel? Does it still hurt?¡± I smiled at him and replied ¡°My shoulder hurts a little bit but I¡¯m fine.¡± Actually it still hurts like hell but I don¡¯t want to tell him that. I want my cookies and milk... Maybe I¡¯ll ask Sharle later. ¡°Daddy will be with you for now. Is there anything you want? No swords allowed.¡± I thought I can take this chance to have a real sword but it seems that I was mistaken. Someone suddenly knocked at the door. ¡°Milord it is I Pladios. May I come in?¡± Maybe he came to ask me about what happened. I didn¡¯t really see the man or woman clearly so I can¡¯t really give useful information. ¡°Come in.¡± Father replied and the door opened. Pladios and Reynaldo came in. They stood in front of father. ¡°Princess we need to ask you a few things. Is that ok?¡± Father asked me and I nodded. ¡°Did you see who the intruder is?¡± ¡°No.¡± ¡°This is a problem. We don¡¯t know who our enemy is.¡± Pladios said. ¡°No. I think I know who did this. Pladios strengthen the security. Reynaldo keep on training the men. Where¡¯s Rigor?¡± Rigor? I haven¡¯t met that guy. ¡°Our apologies, Rigor is still sleeping.¡± Father scratched his head while laughing. ¡°That guy is really something. Tell him to meet me later. Also, has Sitrix returned yet? I already talked to Trey so you don¡¯t need to call him.¡± I¡¯m hearing a lot of new names. ¡°Sitrix has not returned yet that girl likes to play around.¡± Pladios replied. ¡°Ok. That¡¯s all you two may go.¡± ¡°Yes Milord!¡± The two answered at the same time and left the room. ¡°Now, anything you want princess? That¡¯s really interesting because I know I killed that child and her mother. Continue to monitor her. I want to know what magic Zarzex did to bring his daughter back to life.¡± The man grinned and walked away.
