《The Gods' Chosen Few》 Prologue Life before the Summoning A small town in Ohio. A small family gathering was happening to celebrate the life of a new member of the family. It was the Smith family¡¯s newest baby girl. Her name was Madison her mother and father were both thirty years old and were incredibly happy that their daughter had been born without a hitch. Now there were at least forty family members or the mother and twenty of the father gathered at their home to celebrate this momentous occasion. Among them were their grandparents, mother¡¯s and father¡¯s as well as cousins. A small group of five young people that were off to the side of the celebration talking amongst themselves. They were happy for them but felt out of place being there. The older couples were all chatting with the newest parent¡¯s and telling them about what an uphill battle they had ahead of themselves. The grandparent¡¯s either were napping or taking care of their grandkids. That left the small group of five who were the very middle in age among them all to keep each other entertained. It wasn¡¯t very difficult for four of them to stay somewhat happy. Three of the people in the group were a part of the Smith family thus they had a ¡°reason¡± to be there where as the other two were dating another of their current group¡¯s members. The oldest of the group¡¯s name was Matthew but all his family member¡¯s called him Matt. He was a tall six foot seven inches wall of intimidating muscles. He was tan almost Native American tan and had dark brown hair and brown eyes with small flecks of green. To anyone who knew him they knew he was a nice young man who cared deeply for his family. He was steadfast and strong willed if he made a decision then that was it there would be no way to change his mind. To anyone who didn¡¯t know him they¡¯d either walk as fast as they could past him or if they were drunk enough try and pick a fight which always ended in them getting hurt while Jessica would try to reprimand him for fighting. Then of course there was his girlfriend Jessica. She was very pretty and nice to anyone who met her. She was five foot four inches tall with white skin not snow white but maybe a shade darker still light enough to contrast her big lug of a boyfriend. She had long bright straw berry blond hair that was naturally straight as well as lush green eyes. She was a bit of an air head in the way that she couldn¡¯t remember things that had just happened a day ago but she always seemed to have a playful air around her as if she could get anyone to smile no matter what their life was like at the moment. Then there was Haley she was another of the Smith¡¯s she was five foot six inches tall. She was a cold and amazing beauty to most. To her family she was still a little frosty but when it came to kids she¡¯d melt and giggle like a kid when they¡¯d play with her. She had long light brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes. Which also helped to grant her the title of ¡°Ice Queen¡± some of her past school mates had given her. Whenever they¡¯d try to ask her out or sometimes even talk to her she¡¯d blow them off almost instantly. If she didn¡¯t think you were worth talking to in the first few seconds then she didn¡¯t bother. Her boyfriend was named Max. He wasn¡¯t as tall as Matt or as muscular but he still had a temper if you tried to mess with him or his girl. He was five foot ten inches tall with red hair almost like someone had tried to light it one fire. Love what you''re reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on. He was also hard for the family to get along with what with his aggressive nature. It normally came down to them just not knowing what to say and just annoying him with terrible questions about nonsense. He could be gentle when the mood struck him but normally he was always burning about something whether it be passion or anger it was always something. Matt was the oldest at twenty six being Haley¡¯s cousin. Haley right behind at twenty four being the older sister. Then Max just a few months behind her at twenty four as well. Jessica was second to last being twenty three. Then the last member of the group. His name was Logan. He was the youngest brother of Haley and cousin of Matt. He was tall at six foot two inches but he wasn¡¯t a bulky tall or an overweight tall. More of a lean tall he had some muscle but nothing that would bulge should he stretch or even breathe like Matt. He had short black hair with dark green eyes. He was the loner of the group not having a girlfriend to come with him to this family get together. Not that it¡¯d matter not many girls really looked his way when he¡¯d hang out with friends or family. He was fine with it somewhat. He didn¡¯t love being alone but he¡¯d come to terms with it many years ago. It was almost comforting to know I he was bothered he¡¯d always have time to himself to think about it. This was there small group. Matt, Haley, and Logan got along the best of all their other cousins and family members being close to one another in age. That had changed after Max and Jessica had joined their group. Max took most of Haley¡¯s attention to keep out of trouble and honestly it was the same way for Haley too. If she ever got in trouble due to her ¡°ice queen¡± persona then Max would come in scaring off anyone who thought she was being rude or a down right bitch. As for Matt and Jessica they were a lot tamer than the previous two. While Matt was a strong and stoic figure Jessica was just about the exact opposite. It¡¯s quite funny to see Matt standing quietly while Jessica runs around him and asks a million questions a minute. Logan wasn¡¯t forgotten by Max or Jess though. They knew he was an important family member for Haley and Matt so they¡¯d tried to talk to him to see if they had some common interests. Turns out they did and hit it off incredibly well much too all their disbelief. Logan was quiet and not very outspoken so they¡¯d all thought Max would scare him away with his aggressive attitude somehow Logan had turned it into a competition of sorts whether it be video games or drinking games they¡¯d always try to one up each other. Jessica also thought she¡¯d have issues getting along with Logan but she¡¯d found out that for every question she¡¯d ask him he¡¯d have an answer for her as if her inquisitive nature had brought out all of the knowledge he¡¯d hidden away after many years of reading alone in some corner of school or a library. As the festivities were drawing to a close for the night and many of the family members were making their way inside the three story house to wind down with drinks and movies the group stayed out for a few minutes longer as Max and Jess were giving Haley and Matt hugs saying good byes. They stayed for a minute longer doing something somewhat unexpected. They¡¯d each hugged Logan which shocked him slightly since they had gotten along for a little while but he wasn¡¯t sure he¡¯d made it close enough to them for a hug. As Jess let go of her hug there was a bright glow beneath. As well as a voice was heard by all of them. Each heard a different voice but it carried the same message. ¡°Come chosen you have been selected to save our world from the growing evil that permeates our lands¡±. After the blinding light fades in a backyard in Ohio it¡¯s left a little colder than before as five youths are taken from their world. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 1 The Five Heroes An intense bright light shines in the middle of a large circular chamber. The five people who had just heard a voice in their head while on earth found themselves somewhere else entirely. As the light fades they see they are surrounded by many people dressed in red, blue, green, brown, and white robes. As they begin to look around another circle of people steps in front of the robed figures. They are dressed in full plate armor with a mixture of weapons from spear and pikes to swords and hammers. They appear to be afraid of the five people who just appeared in the same room as them. As the five being to stand and look around they all hear voices that are seem to be bickering and arguing about something nonsensical regarding chess moves. As the bickering grew louder they all hear a few women laugh as the men continue to fight over something so small. When all of a sudden a large set of doors is swung inward to allow them to enter. As this happens many of the guards turn pale and look towards the opening in the wall. Four men and women enter the men in one group and the women in another. When they realize everything is quiet they all look towards the center of the room and away from one another. When they see there are 5 humans standing in the center of the room they all look surprised. After about a minute of the five strangers staring at the new comers and the new comers staring back at them. Meanwhile the guards are unsure of who to look at so they just continue to look back and forth still pale in the face. One of the men stepped forward he¡¯s a little over average height standing at five foot eleven inches with dark blue hair and refreshing blue eyes. He looks to the people in the middle of the summoning room then to the mages and says ¡°What are these people doing here disrupting the preparations for the summoning rituals?¡± To which an old wrinkled man with a white beard that touches his knees and a bald head wearing a blue robe steps forward. ¡°No your majesty it¡¯s¡.. They¡¡ we didn¡¯t even start and yet they¡..¡± He then coughs to try and gather himself for a moment then tries again. ¡°Your majesties¡± he then bows and continues momentarily forgetting social etiquette. ¡°These young people are our summoned heroes¡±. The king¡¯s and queen are surprised because it wasn¡¯t time for the summoning ritual to even begin yet their heroes¡¯ were already here that didn¡¯t make any sense. Then they all her five voices boom throughout the room. ¡°Unto you we have delivered our champions. Treat them fairly and with respect as they come from a world opposite of ours. This will be the last gift you receive from us for the battle against the zealots of the Void. We hope you will train them and give them purpose as they will remain in this world for the rest of their lives. As such you all owe them more than anyone can give even us.¡± With that the voices recede and all the occupants of the room are left with dumbfounded expressions on their faces. Well all except for the five that are still wondering what the fuck is going on and where their backyard was and what did those voices mean ¡°they will remain in this world¡±? As the rest of the room returned to somewhat normalcy the man who¡¯d originally stepped forward to ask what was going on continued to walk to the center of the room with the rest of the other magnificently clad members he¡¯d walked into the room with following close behind. ¡°Ahem¡ Hello there champions of the gods. My name is Marcus the king of Aquas¡±. With this introduction he bows much to the shock of everyone else present. ¡°This¡± he grabs a women just behind him with purple hair up in a bun with blue eyes ¡°is my lovely wife and queen of Aquas Mary¡±. She looks flustered as she and the other royalty all thought they¡¯d be able to greet their mighty heroes from a place of power to show case their regal status. She curtseys and greets them all as well. Only getting a small wave from Jess as she doesn¡¯t understand what¡¯s going on but doesn¡¯t let it stop her from being friendly. As the others slowly come forward beside Marcus the five on looking at them take a step or two back as they see races that should only exist in fantasy novels or movies greet them with smiles bows and curtseys. After Marcus an elven couple walk up to introduce themselves. They seem incredibly graceful and poised. ¡°Hello my name is Calabras and this is my beautiful flower ahem wife Zandrea¡±. He was tall at about six foot two inches with yellow hair down to his neck and purple eyes while his wife was shorter at five foot six inches she had the same hair albeit longer following down to her waist. After them is a short statured couple that they could only guess were dwarves. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. As the man looked to be made out of ninety percent muscles with a long flowing beard that was braided and an incredible gorgeous slightly rotund women. ¡°Hello summoned ones my name is Tobin and this lovely creature beside me is my loving wife Helga. His hair was a dark deep brown with equally brown eyes while his wife had her black hair braided much like her husband¡¯s beard and green eyes. Finally the most surprising introduction was when a large man with a red mane of hair and large eyes and a cat tail introduced himself and his wife. ¡°Once again greetings outlanders my name is Thanen and this is my mate Salindria.¡± After they finished their introductions Jess stared at them with large puppy eyes and asked the first question that the heroes had voiced since coming to this world. Many were excited to see what questions they all had. Until of course ¡°Hey hey are you guys part cat?¡±then she proceeded to jump around Matt and say ¡°Oh my gosh sweetie look look their cat people isn¡¯t that amazing¡±. After jumping circles around him Matt quickly gave her a chop to the head to get her to settle down much to everyone else¡¯s worry. After all none of the summoned had ever known one another before as the gods¡¯ champions they were chosen from amongst trillions of other beings that best embodied their god or goddess. After Jess stopped rubbing her head where she¡¯d been struck Matt turned to look at the kings and queens to ask a somewhat better question. ¡°Where the hell are where¡±? As he asked this he gave the small group of royalty he¡¯s best ¡°tell me what I want to know or shits going to get ugly stare¡±. No one knew what to say as not many people if any had ever shown open hostility to any royalty ever and lived to see another day. ¡°Ummm well you are currently in our summoning chamber as we have summoned you to help aid us in our battle against the ¡°Void¡±¡±. Matt looked to his cousin Haley with a ¡°did you get any of that look¡± to which she just shrugged. ¡°Ok how about you start at the beginning you know like why did you kidnap us and put us in this horrible movie sketch¡±- Matt. ¡°Oh right ha ha sorry normally we have a bit more time to tell you what¡¯s happening as we summon you here and tell you about what we need help with and if you¡¯d be interested in coming to aid us which we¡¯ve never had any say no but haven¡¯t had any one forcefully taken from their world be¡.¡±-Marcus. As he talk¡¯s Matt beings to look annoyed starts rolling his hand in the ¡°speed it up¡± motion as the king continued to babble. To which his wife slaps him softly upside the head to get him to be quiet. ¡°Pardon my husband you see we¡¯ve never had the divine¡¯s step in and summon their own champions before only heroes we¡¯ve given a second chance at life to. As such we would like to apologize to you all for taking you from your world without your consent.¡±-Mary. She kneels this time and the others in the room quickly follow after. As Matt looks at them he says ¡°Where are we, who are you all, what do you want from us, and how did we get here.¡± The queen looks up and begins to tell them about their current situation. They had been brought to the world Luetania brought forth by the gods¡¯ themselves to help defeat the church of the void. That they were this world¡¯s kings and queens for their four respective nations. Aquas to the west a city on the water just of the coast accessible by either bridge, boat or if you were feeling extra adventurous swimming. The elves hailed from the land to the east filled with massive trees which they used as homes and fortresses only accessible by flying beasts or pulley elevators. To the north was the Dwarves kingdom deep inside the actual mountains. Then finally to the south was the Beast people¡¯s kingdom in a desert. That¡¯s they wished for our help in combating the evil that lived in their world. And finally their last question was answered with a ¡°we aren¡¯t sure¡± apparently the god¡¯s had only chosen to summon their own champions once before during the founding of this world when monsters ruled it and people couldn¡¯t find strength to fight them. What exists of the royal families today are all direct decedents of the heroes of old. As the Queen was finishing up her answers they had all risen from the floor and were awaiting Matt¡¯s answer to their pleas for help. He was about to answer when the elf queen asked him ¡°how is it that you seem to know one another¡± she points at Jess and him. He looks over at Jess and says ¡°Actually she¡¯s my girlfriend and this" he points at Haley then to Max "is my cousin and her boyfriend and then my other cousin and her little brother in the back¡±. They all look behind Matt and have puzzled looks on their faces. Matt was about to ask what¡¯s wrong when a small voice is heard out from behind he doesn¡¯t recognize. ¡°Ummmmm I think you¡¯ve got me confused with someone else¡±. As the four spin around to find where the voice came from they find a five foot two inches tall women most likely around their age with short spikey bright blonde almost white hair greeted them. As they noticed that Logan wasn¡¯t there they started to look around the room to see if he¡¯d been hurt or grabbed by any one. Not finding anything Matt is about to say something when the room gets incredibly cold almost below zero cold all anyone hears is. ¡°Where¡¯s my little BROTHER¡±. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 2 Why is it always him As the room¡¯s temperature begins to plummet everyone is looking at Haley with a hint of admiration and mostly fear as no summoned had ever accessed their deity¡¯s power that quickly. Only in times of crisis or emotional stress would any hero be able to bring out their abilities without any proper training. As she stared at the royalty in the room many of the guards stepped forward yelling things at her to stop and for the kings and queens to get away. When one of the guards stepped forward to spear Haley through the chest he was meet with a large fist to the front of his helmet enclosed face. Matt had rushed forward to get in close enough so his reach with the spear would be a disadvantage but he was only focused on killing Haley. As Matts hammer of a fist hit the man¡¯s helmet instead of break his hand which he was fully prepared to do the marble from the floor flew up broke into thousands of tiny specs encased his hand an enabled him to strike with full force without having to worry about damaging himself. Of course he didn¡¯t do in consciously as such the marble dust fell to the ground after covering his fist and slamming into the idiot who threatened his cousin. They then heard a shout from one of the robed men and a red ball flew towards Haley looking like a homing rocket. Max ran towards the streaking light jumped up to catch it. After it hit his hands he held it and threw it right back at the man who¡¯d sent it their way. While it streaked back every one scrambled to get away from it and as soon as it hit the ground it exploded with a force much greater than any robed figure present had anticipated sending about seven people flying as they weren¡¯t far enough away from the blast radius. Then arrows were let lose towards all five of them. One hit Matt in the shoulder with which her broke the head off and bellowed at them like a large monster that was about to unleash some hurt. After the first struck Matt the rest were battered away by an immensely strong breeze that knocked several of the archers down. It originated from Jess the second she saw and heard Matt in pain. Just as this was starting off the Kings and queens of Luetania stared in utter horror as one of the heroes was enraged prompting an incredibly rash decision from a guards man to attack them. It all spiralled out of control after that. They watched as some of the most elite warriors, archers, and mages all four kingdoms had to offer were taken apart by people that had only just been brought to a world with magic. After most of the guards were on the ground either from a goliath¡¯s fist and raging man¡¯s fire balls an airheads gusts or an ice cold stare from the one who¡¯d started all of this. As it wrapped up and Matt and Max got done beating the ever living tar out of most the guards present Haley slowly approached the queen of Aquas as she¡¯d been the one who¡¯d answered Matt¡¯s questions she asked. ¡°I said WHERE IS MY BROTHER¡±. Before anything else could happen Jess quickly grabbed Haley from behind and hugged her. Haley begin to calm down and then cry while still asking ¡°where is he¡±. The others knew she had a somewhat special relationship with her brother as he and her had done most things together and when he¡¯d gotten into school he had trouble making friends with his quiet and gloomy demeanor to anyone who didn¡¯t know him he was just creepy. For anyone who¡¯d try to get to know him they¡¯d find he was just shy and wasn¡¯t sure how to insert himself into most conversations so he just enjoyed being able to hear them and pretended he was a part of a group. After a while he¡¯d stopped as many found him even stranger after that. So his sister had go out of her way to include him in what her and her friends did. This helped slightly as after her friends saw how he acted when he knew the person he was talking to they¡¯d warmed up to him and treated him like their own little brother. After a while though his sister and her friends had ended up moving up the ladder that was school. So as a few years behind he¡¯d just learned to accept his loneliness again. After high school his sister got a boyfriend and he treated her horribly. If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. Logan decided to do something about it and ended up in a hospital after being beaten repeatedly by her boyfriend and his gang of friends. He didn¡¯t remember anything that had happened after the first punch then boom hospital. With his sister and cousin Matt next to his bed crying. Apparently he¡¯d died once or twice on the way to the hospital and then once more as then got him to the ER for ruptured organs. Turns out when he¡¯d gone to confront the dickhead boyfriend he had decided he was done with Haley. As a final send-off he¡¯d decided to give her a good bye party which consisted of him and five others of his friends raping her. Then the wannabe hero showed up before they could do anything giving her time to run and call Matt and a friend from school by the name of Max. When they¡¯d gotten there the beat down was just about over. Blood was all over the floor of Haley¡¯s apartment and the walls and ceiling. Just blood blood everywhere. Turns out it wasn¡¯t all Logan¡¯s when they got inside and saw what had happened. Yes Logan was lying on the floor bloody and broken but so were two of Dick¡¯s friends with their faces pummeled and most of their teeth missing. The other two Dick and lackey number one were just a foot away from Logan looking scared and angry. As Dick picked up a knife to kill the crumpled young man on the floor Matt jumped forward and gave him a kick square to the chest breaking several ribs as he put his full two-hundred and sixty pounds of muscle behind the kick. Meanwhile Max started beating lackey number one like he was a punching bag as Hayley called for an ambulance. It was a racking fifteen minute wait until the EMT¡¯s had arrived they¡¯d taken Logan to a nearby hospital as more ambulances were on their way for the others. Turns out that the person who¡¯d arrived and brought Logan back to life twice in the back of the ambulance was none other than Jess. Logan had a good laugh after he found out Haley and Max started dating right after the incident. The same with Matt and Jess. Logan thought to himself while in a hospital bed for a few months that it was just his luck. ¡°Go and try to play ¡°hero¡± and save his sister only to have some other people come and make him look like a loser then sweep girls off their feet.¡± It wasn¡¯t like he went to up his "street cred" but hey it¡¯s nice to get recognition for doing something good. Afterword¡¯s he¡¯d see Jess everyday as she came to check up on him for Matt. Max would drop by occasionally to talk to him and thank him for trying to protect my sister. He only saw Matt the one time when he¡¯d woken up before he was shipped to Iraq. Haley only visited once after the first time. She seemed to want to apologize for leaving him there but couldn¡¯t muster up the courage to tell him anything even with Jess holding her hand and Max right beside her. Logan just looked up at her and said ¡°it¡¯s okay sis I still love you¡±. Which only got her to run away while bawling and Jess started to cry as well. As Haley came back to her senses she was in the same room somewhere else with people staring at her as she cried in Jess¡¯ arms. The human queen Mary looked at her and asked who she was talking about. Hayley managed to blubber something about her brother who was right next to them when the light stole them from their world. To which the Queen had a sad look on her face and said ¡°I¡¯m sorry but anyone who was caught in that light when you were summoned should have been brought here if they survived.¡± Hayley¡¯s eyes flew up and stared at her intently and asked ¡°what do you mean IF¡±. Once again it was queen¡¯s turn to answer but she looked around to her fellow royals for help and they all stared at her helplessly. ¡°Well they only people we¡¯ve summoned have all been pinpoint summoning meaning only one person is taken.I¡¯m assuming you four were with him when you were summoned and since it was the divines that brought you here their magic is much more powerful than ours. Which would make it harder for them to summon one person only and not a slightly larger area around said person. And when someone is summoned they are given protection as they cross realms." "We¡¯ve never seen or heard of anyone other than the intended heroes being summoned. It¡¯s hard to say if he was in the summoning spell that he¡¯d still be alive if being brought here. And if he did somehow manage to survive and not make it here there is only one other place you can summon heroes and it is currently in the middle of a monster infested forest home to an awful group of slavers called ¡°Supremacy¡±-Mary. Hayley¡¯s eyes start to mist over as more tears flow and Jess joins her in crying for her lost family member ¡°Why is it always him? What did he do? He¡¯s a good person. He doesn¡¯t deserve this¡± The last part she said quietly. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 3 Lets Do This It took a while for the combined powers of Matt, Max, and Jess to lull Haley into a calmer state then the emotional wreck she was about thirty minutes ago. They had all been taken to a resting room where they could relax while the kings and queens could gather some information regarding any other activations in the middle of the Rangon forest. As their small group was waiting and sitting together on one couch they¡¯d seemed to all remember there was on other person with them. As they looked across the table in front of them they were greeted with the stare of the small woman from earlier. She stared awkwardly at them for a minute as she¡¯d been near them the whole time Haley had her breakdown and felt embarrassed. After blushing so hard Matt and Max thought she was about to have steam come out of her ears she introduced herself. ¡°Ummm hi my name is Lizzie.¡± As they continued to stare at each other for a minute she blushed even harder which the guys didn¡¯t think was possible. She started mumbling to herself quietly but the four could still hear her. ¡°OH MY GOSH Lizzie that was so lame what the heck. I know I know but I thought that was the best time to introduce myself. Lizzie what are you doing they can probably hear you geez.¡± As she said that last sentence she looked over and saw that they could indeed hear her. Jess thought she¡¯d probably had enough embarrassment after all if she gets any redder she might blow her top. So she introduced all of them to Lizzie and said hello. Then followed up with another question ¡°Hey Lizzie what¡¯s up with your hair did you bleach it or what?¡± To this she looked confused and said ¡°I was going to ask you guys the same thing it¡¯s like you guys decided to be a rainbow or something. Wait what do you mean bleached I have black hair.¡± Jess looked as confused as she did as they both tried to figure out what the other had just said. Matt then looked over his family and saw what Lizzie had meant. Jess¡¯ hair was now a deep forest green. While Max¡¯s was even redder than normal and had a bright blue like a hot flame was right at the center of his head. And Haley¡¯s was a light blue almost see through but still blue. He then got up and looked for a mirror while Lizzie followed him when he¡¯d found it. To his shock his hair was a dark mud brown instead of its usual milk chocolate look. After looking at himself in the mirror for a few minutes longer he walked back to the couch and sat next to Jess. Not even a moment after the doors opened to reveal the kings and queens. They¡¯d changed clothes as well. Instead of their overbearing ensemble they seemed to have changed into whatever was more comfortable for them. For the men normal cotton looking pants with a small t shirt with their respective crest on it. While the ladies had chosen to wear skirts and blouses. After walking in and closing the door they¡¯d all lined up to the side of the Smiths and bowed in front of them. Marcus looked up and said solemnly ¡°we are so sorry but we haven¡¯t seen anything that would suggest the temple in the Rangon forest has activated. I¡¯m afraid your brother is gone.¡± After hearing this Haley just started to stare of into space thinking of how she never got to say goodbye at least Jess and Max had that but what about her. Matt frowned and took charge of their small group. ¡°So what happens now?¡± Marcus and the others slowly stood up and then Tolbin spoke up. ¡°For centuries after a group of heroes is summoned they are each taken to their god or goddess¡¯ land of worship. For you big man to the north with us. For your girlfriend to the east with the Elves. For the fiery man to the south with Beastkin. For you¡± he points in the direction of Lizzie ¡°to the main temple of Rayanna. And finally for her¡± again he points in Haley¡¯s direction with a bit of sadness ¡°she will go to the west with Marcus and Mary¡± As he finishes the room again get quiet and you hear Haley¡¯s voice. ¡°So now that I¡¯ve lost my brother you want my family to split up and go sightseeing?¡± Another uncomfortable silence passes over them all. ¡°Technically yes sweetheart but only for a little while to train each of you in the ways of your god or goddess and different fighting styles.¡±-Mary. Haley looks towards the human queen and just holds her gaze until Mary lowers her head slightly to look away from her cold gaze. ¡°It is only to prepare you for what you have been summoned for if you do not train you will be helpless and trampled in this world by those who seek to do you and your family harm.¡± This time it was Thanen who spoke the large lion beastman. She then slowly turned her gaze to him. He was planning on holding her gaze to show her they wouldn¡¯t all be cowed by one single loss no matter how much she had cared for her brother she had to move past it and fast. He was going to hold her gaze until she spoke. ¡°Those who have already harmed my family are right in front of me¡± she said icily. Matt seeing this conversation wasn¡¯t going to be getting them anywhere decided to put a stop to it for now. ¡°Ok we hear you but I think we are going to need a while to grieve¡±-Matt. At this point they seem to perk up a bit as they weren¡¯t being treated like murderers by all of their heroes. ¡°Of course please we will have a few maids take you to your rooms and then after you¡¯ve bathed and rested a bit we can gather for dinner. How does that sound?¡±-Zandrea. ¡°Haaaa¡± Matt sighed ¡°Sounds like a plan I guess¡±. As they left the room two maids walk in and closed the doors behind them they seemed to be twins. ¡°Hello heroes. We will show you to your rooms now. Please follow us.¡± They both said in unison. After about a three minute walk from the resting room they came upon a long corridor with five doors on one side and windows overlooking the castle courtyard on the other. ¡°Please choose your rooms as we have prepared all of them exactly the same there should be no discrepancies in how they look¡± as the maids bowed in front of them Matt spoke up.The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation. ¡°Is it alright if we share one room and just get a few mattresses, blankets and pillows? I don¡¯t think any of us are going to be able to relax unless we are close to one another.¡± Once again the maids bowed ¡°As you wish sir hero.¡± They then left and Matt and the others walked into the middle room. Jess did do a quick peek over her shoulder to see Lizzie unsure of which room to take. ¡°You can join us if you want. It¡¯s kinda weird being here by yourself.¡± To which Lizzie nodded slowly and followed them into the room. It was a large room by their standards. They could probably fit half a football field in it. The reason it was so big although being only a room for one person was because there was a bathing room attached to it as well as a resting room and a small library off in the corner of it. Max slowly led Haley to the bathroom where he could help clean her up. Jess decided to give it the hotel treatment and went off to jump on the bed. Matt on the other hand sat down on the nearest couch and started to plan out what they would do next but with so many variables and virtually no information since he was in a new world made it impossible to decide a plan of action other than going to dinner and talking it out with those royals. Since he wasn¡¯t going to figure anything out he went to lay down on the bed Jess had just gotten done ¡°testing for springiness¡± as she put it. When he reached the bed and rolled on to it Jess stopped jumping and landed next to him. She wrapped him up into a hug until he turned to look at her. She had tears in her eyes and was looking up at his face. ¡°I¡¯m so so so sorry about Logan if I could have done anything you know I¡¡± as she slowly stopped talking and tears rolled down her cheeks Matt pulled her closer and whispered to her ¡°It¡¯s ok there¡¯s nothing any of us could have done." "Maybe it¡¯s better that he won¡¯t have to go through any of the fighting I¡¯m sure is going to be in our future¡±. After he finished that sentence he just laid there holding Jess. After about ten minutes Max came out of the bathroom with a bundled up Haley in his arms as she had cried herself to sleep while in the bath tub. He laid her next to Jess and then hoped on the bed as well. They all just laid there until Jess¡¯ head popped up like a gopher and waved Lizzie over. When she had almost made it to Matt¡¯s side of the bed when Jess whispered something in his ear. Right when Lizzie was a step away from Matt to see what Jess wanted Matt grabbed her and pulled her on top of the bed and positioned her in between Jess and Haley. She was startled and surprised but after a few minutes was beginning to feel safe and cozy. Matt decided it was probably best to stop and think about what was going to happen to them. He started the conversation by asking everyone what they thought about their current circumstance. Max¡¯s plan was to try and leave this place and find a way to make it home. Matt pointed out that the people or gods¡¯ had said they were going to be stuck here for the rest of their lives so that would be a waste of time. Haley didn¡¯t have much to say in the matter as she was still saddened by the sudden loss of her brother. Jess wasn¡¯t too worried by anything as long as they stuck together. Which was just like her to be the glue that kept them from falling apart. Lizzie was still frightened by everything that had happened and asked if she could stay with them for as long as she needed. Not having anyone to depend on had left her feeling scared and vulnerable. Jess responded by patting her shoulder and telling her she was more than welcome. After thirty minutes or so of going back and forth with ideas it all eventually feel into Matt¡¯s hands whatever he chose they would follow as he was the only one who¡¯d been somewhat trained for unexpected things to happen and deal with them accordingly. About twenty minutes later there was a knock at the door and when Matt said ¡°Enter¡± the door opened and there were the maids with what looked close to a small army of servants behind them. Matt leaned up and said ¡°you know what you think we could just get one more bed to attach to this one and more pillow then I think we¡¯re good.¡± The maids simply bowed and went to carry out their business when a messenger came to gather them for their dinner. It took ten minutes for Haley and jess to get ready then another five minutes to walk to the dining room. There sat the kings and queens waiting patiently for them to join. After a little while of eating and more uncomfortable silences Salindria spoke to the heroes and was curious to their future plans. Matt told her after settling down he had a few questions before coming up with a conclusion. He asked how long they¡¯d all be apart when they went to train and what would happen after. Salindria saw this as an opportunity to let the conversation continue instead of another silent period. It would take about two years for them to train and be almost considered masters at their chosen vocation whether that be a mage or a fighter to master magic or a fighting style would take a while and them more powerful they became the more training they¡¯d need. Being a gods¡¯ chosen meant they¡¯d more than likely have better control much like what they¡¯d shown inside the summoning room. Then after they had finished their training they¡¯d be able to meet back here for the hero tournament. What this was was a celebration for the heroes becoming strong enough to help those in need. It was also a great way to find potential teammates they could try and recruit to fight alongside them. As during the tournament many people would face off against each other to gain renown and make a grand debut into the world off heroes. Matt thought about this for a while and then came to a decision after consulting everyone else. ¡°Yeah not going to happen.¡± If it was quiet and awkward earlier in the day this was a hundred times worse. Everyone stared at him with wide eyes. ¡°If you think for a second that we¡¯re going to sit here and listen to you trying to split us up you¡¯ve got another thing coming. So here¡¯s how it¡¯s going to go. Whoever we were supposed to go and train with will meet us here and we will work with them. But we will see each other every day so that we know you people haven¡¯t tried to harm any more of our family.¡± Salindria looked panicked ¡°Well you see that just isn¡¯t possible. The masters you will be learning from are some of the most respected teachers in our history. We can¡¯t possibly drag them from their homes to teach you here.¡± Matt laughed at her for a moment ¡°So it¡¯s not ok for you to drag you¡¯re highly respected citizens from their homes but dragging us here is fine with you?" "In fact these masters should be honored to come and teach us what with the whole summoned by your gods¡¯ and all that.¡± The royalty start looking at one another trying to get someone else to speak up. Seeing that none were willing to do so Matt decided to let them know it was either his way or they wouldn¡¯t participate in anything that happened to the people of this world. He had to think about his family first after all. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 4 Not What I Expected from the Goddess of Death After the bright light faded Logan began to look around in a panic. ¡°Where is everybody¡± he thought. ¡°And why the hell is it so dark¡± ¡°Hello can anyone hear me?¡± Nothing. ¡°Ok so what was he dead again I mean he couldn¡¯t really remember the last times he technically died so was this what it was like or was this something else¡±. As he finished that thought he felt something moving towards him in the darkness. For anyone who has had their pet dog run towards them as they get home late at night and you can¡¯t see anything you¡¯ve got that one second of fear like ¡°Oh god what¡¯s coming at oh right hey buddy¡±. It was a lot like that only a million times worse since he couldn¡¯t see anything so he couldn¡¯t tell which direction it was coming from. Only that he¡¯d just gotten the attention of something he wasn¡¯t sure was good to notice you. After what felt like years of waiting he heard a voice. A loud grating voice that sent shivers down his spine. ¡°WHO DARES ENTER MY REALM¡± Logan unsure of what to say just says the first thing that comes to mind. ¡°Oh sorry wasn¡¯t trying to break in or anything. I just saw this big flash of light surround my family and I but now they¡¯re gone and I¡¯m here sooooo yeah¡¡.¡± It¡¯s quiet for a good thirty seconds before he hears a soothing beautiful woman¡¯s voice. ¡°Oh no is it that time already I¡¯m so sorry I didn¡¯t realize you were coming. What you must think of me. Being brought here against your will by me and then me shouting at you I¡¯m sorry please forgive me.¡± He¡¯s surprised by the gentleness of the voice and is trying to look for the owner but it¡¯s still complete darkness around him. ¡°I don¡¯t really mind as long as my family is ok and maybe turn a light on so I can see you and talk to you.¡±-Logan ¡°Oh no I¡¯m sorry I¡¯ve just been stuck here since my temples were desecrated and followers killed that I don¡¯t get much ¡°outside¡± time.¡± Then the world turns bright Logan has to protect his eyes with his hand as he waits for his eyes to adjust. In front of him is a gorgeous lady with snow white hair that goes down to the middle of her back with blood red eyes and in a sexy black dress. He gulps and wonders how someone that looks like that can sound so unsure of themselves. She glances at him with a slight blush to her cheeks. ¡°Um I¡¯m not used to guests so I don¡¯t know if this¡± so motions to herself ¡°is acceptable or if you¡¯d prefer something else.¡± Logan forgetting himself because he can¡¯t form a rational thought while staring at her finally breaks out of the trance¡¯s he¡¯s in to answer her. ¡°Ah sorry um no you look great really. Sorry though I might not be able to stop staring.¡± She blushes when she hears him. And then a couch appears behind her as she sits down. ¡°Come sit we have much to discuss.¡± She pats the couch lightly. Logan makes his way over and sits next to her. ¡°So what should we talk about first. I guess I should apologize one more time since I was the one that brought you here and still yelled at you. But it¡¯s only because someone else had broken in three times the same way you did when I summoned you about two and a half years ago. They didn¡¯t stay long and I erased their memories but I can¡¯t believe they managed to get in here and the third time I was even showering.¡± She starts to pout and look at him with puppy dog eyes looking for affection. He laughs nervously ¡°Yeah I guess I should apologize then because that may have been me¡± He looks away as he says it because he doesn¡¯t want whatever this woman is to be mad at him but lying probably won¡¯t save him might as well bite the bullet. As he turns back to face her she is blushing a little more than earlier and coughs twice. ¡°Well I guess if it was you then that¡¯s fine and I took your memories so no harm done right¡±. ¡°Eh yeah I guess so uh what else did you want to talk about and if I can ask a question.¡± She perks up and the blush seems to go away a bit ¡°of course please ask away¡±. ¡°Ok just two questions then. First and most importantly is my family ok? Second and this is just a small thing really what are you exactly?¡±A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation. She looks at him and beams a smile ¡°Of course they¡¯re fine they were summoned just like you. Although I don¡¯t know if anyone else explained anything to them before they made it to Luetania. And as for me well I¡¯m Nyx it¡¯s nice to officially meet you I¡¯m your goddess.¡± Dead silence ¡°Err hello are you ok did I say something strange? Please don¡¯t think I¡¯m weird I just haven¡¯t had a conversation in a while so I might be a little rusty.¡± A minute longer of silence ¡°No ah you¡¯re doing just fine with the conversation you just kind of lost me for a sec what did you mean when you said you¡¯re my goddess?¡± She looks a little confused and tilts her head to the side ¡°well silly that means you¡¯re my champion and I¡¯m your goddess. You go out into the world and do great things in my name and in return I give you specials powers and abilities no one else can have. Oh and also we can talk anytime you want it gets so lonely over here by myself.¡± ¡°Hmmm ok I guess I¡¯ve got it but uh what kind of goddess are you?¡± She frowns and looks away quickly like she¡¯s scared of Logan. ¡°Death and darkness¡± she says almost in a whisper. ¡°What was that you¡¯re the goddess of Death and Darkness?¡± he asks with a hint of fear in his voice. She begins to shake and keeps facing away. He starts to hear sniffling and grabs her shoulder and pullers her to face him. There in front of him is a goddess crying. Instantly his mind starts to freak out ¡°Crap what did I do I¡¯m sorry ok no crying oh god what do I do?¡± He then puts his hand out and starts to pet her on the head. She¡¯s seemed to calm down a small amount hardly even a bit but it¡¯s noticeable. ¡°Why are you crying?¡± She looks at him strangely ¡°every time ...hic¡ I tell someone ¡.sob¡. what kind of goddess I am the all just run off.¡± She says angrily and slams her hands on the couch. Logan keeps petting her and then after mustering what is probably all the courage he has he hugs her half expecting her to kill him or something. She continues to cry but it slow eventually and then she hugs him back. After a few minutes goes bye she says ¡°ok I think I¡¯m alright now and thank you¡± He lets her go and her face is still red and eyes a little puffy but still beautiful. ¡°Ok what else is there to tell me¡± he says. She looks at him again like he¡¯s a strange machine she can¡¯t fathom how it works. ¡°You mean you are ok with being the champion of Death and Darkness?¡± He shrugs ¡°Well yeah I mean I¡¯ve died three times and all that so not really a stranger to it err you and you seem nice so I don¡¯t seem the harm in going along with this as long as it takes me to my family.¡± She hops up off the couch and starts spinning. ¡°Yay wow I can¡¯t believe it someone is actually going to help me clear my name.¡± She does a few twirls then stops to look at her arm as if there was a watch there. ¡°Darn we ran out of time. Ok I guess it¡¯s time for you to go I can¡¯t give you much other than my blessing and this¡± She touches his head and he feels as if something is working its way into his brain. It didn¡¯t hurt it just felt so damn weird. ¡°That will let you talk to me anytime day or night.¡± ¡°Thank you. One last question before I go wait no two two more. One what did you mean clear your name? Lastly how am I going to learn how to use the powers you gave me?¡± ¡°Oh that right well about nine centuries ago my follows went off the deep end and start rampaging and killing everything in sight all in my name. I didn¡¯t ask them too in fact I tried to stop them but they wouldn¡¯t listen. So as ¡°punishment¡± I was locked away from the other gods my family until it¡¯s fixed. And now it¡¯s gotten so bad all the gods had to choose a champion to help fight them off. I¡¯ve been trying to summon a champion for so long to help me but I couldn¡¯t find any one suitable and willing until you.¡± She starts to walk towards him ¡°and as for my gifts to you well you¡¯ll learn best by doing¡± as she says that she pushes him. Logan teeters and falls towards the couch which disappears and he falls through the white floor. As he¡¯s falling and about to pass out from weirdness overload he hears Nyx. ¡°Remember you can call anytime. I look forward to what changes you¡¯ll bring this world¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 5 By the time Logan had awakened it was about an hour before sunset. He was in some forest somewhere with no idea which way to go to find his family. Since he didn¡¯t have any information about the world he was in or surrounding landscape he went quietly to look around. As he got up from the ground he¡¯d noticed that he was wearing black leather armor. He had matching wrist guards that went to his elbow. Boots that went to his knees as well as pitch black cotton pants with a black cloak to match. He also had dagger sheaths attached to his armor. He had one sheath on each side of his lower back facing outward hidden by his black cloak. A knife in his right boot with the hilt stick up behind his calf. And one inside of his left wrist guard hiding under his arm with the hilt right at his wrist. He felt like a common cutthroat just waiting in the woods for unsuspecting travellers. He shook his head to clear it of that embarrassing and distracting thought. ¡°At least she outfitted me before throwing me to god knows where. Really going to have to ask her about that mood change when she was trying to get rid of me too.¡± He began walking towards sun hoping he was heading towards civilization. He had only been in this world for less than a half hour before he felt something was following him. He kept walking trying not to show he¡¯d caught whatever it was trailing behind him. As soon as he passed a wide tree with its lowest branch being around fifteen feet in the air. He turned towards it to cut of his followers¡¯ vision of him and began to climb the tree with his daggers. Having to climb a tree while mustering enough strength to not only stab and climb but also pull the blades out again was a lot more exhausting then Logan had thought it was going to be. Before he¡¯d made it to the branch he heard shouts. ¡°Hurry up he¡¯s probably getting away¡±. ¡°Ahh cool it Mani where the hell is that wannabe assassin going to go. We¡¯ve got over ten guys circling back. If he ran off then they¡¯ll get him.¡± The owner of the gruff voice sounds very irritated. ¡°You ¡°cool it¡± Greg. You think he¡¯s just some nobody? How could some nobody break through our perimeter and get this close to our base? If John finds out we let him out of our sights and he still gets away we¡¯ll be dead before the sun rises.¡± Logan is still as quietly as he can manage climbing the tree when they round the corner and are directly below him. ¡°Man what the heck are we going to do.¡± The man Logan can only assume is Mani from his voice begins to inspect the ground. ¡°His tracks stopped here. How did he just disappear?¡± He then looks up to make sure he wasn¡¯t about to be ambushed by his would be prey. Logan was still dangling from his daggers and staring right at Mani and he knew he¡¯d been caught. Then Mani begins to look around the tree to try and spot something. ¡°Wait. What how come they missed the dude hanging from the damn tree?¡± Logan thought to himself and looked at his arms directly above him. They were mostly gone. He almost lost his grip when he realized he was semi-invisible. Looking down again he saw that Greg had given up on the hunt while Mani continued to look around for tracks. ¡°Just give it up we¡¯ve been out here for six hours. I¡¯m tired of watch duty when are we going to go raiding again? The last caravan that we caught had some beauties in it. I can¡¯t wait till we get to have their debut tonight.¡± Greg says looking to the north with a smile on his face. Mani turns around shaking his head. ¡°Is sex all you ever think about man because if we don¡¯t find this guy you can kiss all those pretty little things goodbye.¡± Mani also seems to have given up. ¡°Oh please if you can¡¯t find any tracks the guys gone. Besides I heard that the caravan had some pretty tasty high class ladies in it. A few of the long eared sluts and a mighty fine tiger woman. John¡¯s going to have fun breaking her in.¡± Mani chuckles dryly. ¡°Yeah I heard she¡¯d killed a few of our boys before they could take her down. We¡¯ll be sure to punish her appropriately for the years to come.¡± They then both shared a hearty laugh and sat near the tree. Logan had had just about enough of those two¡¯s discussion if you could even call it that. He tried to think of a way to get off the tree without them noticing but with them only ten feet below him any action he¡¯d take would instantly alert them to his presence. He only had two options. Option 1 stay there till his arms failed him and fall on them possibly alerting more people if these two didn¡¯t kill him by themselves. Option 2 drop down and kill them. ¡°Yeah because assassins¡¯ creed prepared me for this shit¡¡¡ not¡± He slowly pulls his daggers out of the trees and pushed lightly off the tree so he¡¯d have room to spin around. He fell down right between the two men. The dagger in his left hand drops straight down as he fell using the gravity as well as his strength to drive it into Greg¡¯s skull all the way to the hilt of the foot long blade. Mani got his sword a quarter of the way out of its hilt when a dagger went into the back of his neck where his spine connected to his skull and poked out the front of his neck. This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience. He gurgled a few times before falling still and silent. Greg never even knew what hit him. After propping them up and cleaning his blades on their clothes he searched them for anything a value. Greg didn¡¯t have anything on him of value. A sword his clothes and a green glass vial. He took the vial and inspected Mani. Now he at least had something useful besides a sword and clothes. He had slung across his back a bow and quiver filled with twenty steel tipped arrows. He took them and slung it across his back only to see the bow and quiver change color to match his attire. After he was done he began to walk north the direction Greg had looked when talking about a ¡°debut¡±. As Logan began to walk he noticed something about himself or rather a lack of something. ¡°How come I didn¡¯t feel anything after I killed two people?¡± It wasn¡¯t like he was a sadistic killer or anything heck he felt sad watching movies where the lovable dog dies. But for some reason killing had meant nothing to him. It was almost like breathing after he decided he was going to do it there was no hesitation or second guessing his decision he just did it. ¡°Maybe it has something to do with Nyx¡¯s blessing. Death probably doesn¡¯t care who goes because when it¡¯s you time then it¡¯s your time. Or maybe darkness because the dark is cold and unforgiving. Not evil in any sense of the word just that it exists and doesn¡¯t care about anything. I guess I¡¯ll have to ask her later.¡± He walked for ten minutes as stealthily as he could arriving at a large wall made of solid logs like a log cabin. About a foot away he heard people cheering as a man gave a speech. It was something along the lines of ¡°Demi-human filth should be punished for existing or killed blah blah blah and any humans caught aiding these dirty blah blah blah blah all dead.¡± Logan wasn¡¯t really listening he was busy looking for a way to scale the wall and peer inside. After a minute he found a few cracks in the wall and began to climb. When he reached the top he slowly look over to see if there was anyone nearby. Turns out the entire area around him was filled with people that were thankfully looking the opposite way. ¡°What the hell have these people never heard of sentry duty¡± not that he should be saying since it saved him. He made sure no one was looking and hauled himself over the wall and then was grabbed by a strong scared hand. ¡°Careful youngin if you can¡¯t handle your drink and stay standing best keep away from the walls.¡± He laugh drunkenly and helped Logan up then sauntered off. ¡°Well that was close¡± Logan begins to look around to find what every one¡¯s looking at. He¡¯s is standing at the top of what looks like an arena with rings circling a pit and each circle was a step lower than the next creating a seat for everyone. Right now every ring was filled with men and women that seemed dirty and drunk to say the least living out in the forest. In the pit stood ten women cowering from the people screaming and throwing things at them. The man who Logan had heard earlier outside the wall was in the pit still screaming about how demi-humans were lesser then humans and should be treated as such. Logan now getting a good view of the women he saw that three had long ears and sharp facial features. Three more had animal ears and tails. The last four were humans that were older and trying to protect the younger girls. As the leader of this group walked toward one of the older women he took out his sword and killed her without any mercy. The others cheered and Logan just felt saddened. Death was one thing on those who didn¡¯t suspect it death would sneak up on them faster than most but to just slaughter people for the fun of it or to raise moral was just fucked up. Logan somehow felt that this man was going to kill of all them and maybe let a few of his followers have some ¡°fun¡± with them before their death. Turning away and beginning to walk back to the wall he was about to climb back down when he felt something. An urge to live. It wasn¡¯t coming from the women being killed in the pit. They had already welcomed their ¡°fate¡± but someone inside the small fort wasn¡¯t willing to die just yet. He was intrigued as it was the first time he¡¯d felt this and wasn¡¯t sure if it¡¯d be a common occurrence once he was traveling the world. ¡°Curiosity killed the cat. But it¡¯s not like I¡¯m just gonna pass whatever that is up anyways¡± He began walking towards the center of the fort towards this feeling. It takes around a minute or two to find what he¡¯s looking for or at least where it¡¯s coming from. In the center of this place is a large tent that looks like it was taken from a raid on royalty. It was ornate with royal crests and had several layers to keep unwanted cold out. As Logan inched closer sticking to the shadows he cuts a small hole in the side of it to see what was inside. What he sees is a woman possible nineteen to twenty five years old with short spikey hair each tuft was either white or black. She had a lean and muscular body and amble breasts B¡¯s or C¡¯s he wasn¡¯t sure. The last thing he saw about her was her animal ears and a long slender furry tail like a cat¡¯s striped black and white like her hair. As he finished inspecting her she felt something looking at her and began to scan the room. Her gaze landed on the hole in the tent and she just stared at it to see if anything would move. ¡°So the thing I felt was this girl huh well¡± He looks around to make sure no one can see him and he makes a slim cut into the tent and enters. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 6 As Logan enters the girl rises from the floor and hisses at him at this act of aggression she growls as she seems to be in pain. She falls back to the floor and glares daggers at him. ¡°What do you want human. Come to play with me before your leader gets back and then the rest of you won¡¯t get a piece.¡± Staying a little ways back Logan tries to pacify her. ¡°Look I don¡¯t actual know these people. I woke up in the forest and then these guys started to follow me. I may have ended up killing two of theirs. I was only trying to find a town or something around here and found this place. I snuck over the wall and saw what they were doing to what I can only assume were people you knew. I¡¯m sorry.¡± She looked at him skeptically because there was no way a human in this place was going to be friendly he was most likely trying to get her to lower her guard so he could pounce on her. Logan began to pity her as he saw a collar around her neck. ¡°What is that?¡± He asked pointing at her neck. She looked at him angrily there was no way he wouldn¡¯t know was he playing her for a fool trying to trick her with such an awful act. She kept staring waiting for him to laugh at her or something but he stayed quiet waiting for her to answer ¡°Do you really not know what this is?¡± Logan shook his head with a slight frown. ¡°It turns me into a slave of the one whose blood was used to forge this collar.¡± He frowned even more. ¡°Is there no way to get it off or break it?¡± She looks at him with a little more interest. ¡°There is no way he works for these people if he¡¯s even willing to talk about freeing me from that man.¡± She beings to stand again and beings to tell him of two ways to get it off. ¡°First you could have the one who put it on me take it off but knowing that man I¡¯m sure it¡¯d be easier to do the other but I¡¯m not exactly willing to try the second option.¡± Logan looks at her worried about what this second option could possibly do to him or her. ¡°Option number two is that I form a blood oath with you. It would make this collar worthless so it couldn¡¯t stop me from running from here but I would be bound to you for the rest of my life.¡± She looks down when she finishes and doesn¡¯t look his way. ¡°I¡¯m not sure what that all means but if it means I can get you out of here then I¡¯m all for it.¡± She looks back up at him and frowns. ¡°What do you mean you don¡¯t get it? It means I can only ever be with you. I wanted to do this with my mate when I¡¯d finally found him. Not some vagabond in some nasty tent.¡± Logan looks around worried as she started to grow louder with each word. ¡°Ok ok look I¡¯m sorry about all that but the way I see it you¡¯ve got two options. You pick option one which means I¡¯m gone because there is no way I¡¯m going to try and negotiate with him in the middle of his army. But if you pick option two we can get out of here hopefully before anyone even knows about it for a few hours giving us a head start.¡± She¡¯s still glaring at him but nods her understanding motioning him to come closer to her. ¡°I need to borrow a blade if you don¡¯t mind.¡± He passes her a dagger which she uses to cut the tip of her finger. She passes the dagger back and Logan puts it away. She grabs his right hand and begins to draw a symbol while speaking in some magical language. As she finishes the incantation the symbol glows on his hand and it disappears. He feels a slight tug in her direction from somewhere near his chest but he just assumed it was a side effect of the spell. After she finishes she stands up and begins to head for the hole in the tent. ¡°You coming or what?¡± she asks. She leaves the tent with Logan a step behind her. Before she can continue to walk off Logan grabs her hand and pulls her back. She¡¯s about to hiss at him for grabbing her so suddenly but he covers her mouth with his other hand. Not a moment after a group of four men walked past the tent towards the arena Logan had originally come from.Stolen story; please report. ¡°How did you know?¡± she whispers to him. He responds by shrugging and walking towards the closest wall to climb it again and leave this shitty place. She follows him closely to make sure he doesn¡¯t leave her behind. As he gets to the wall he motions her to come closer. ¡°Ok I¡¯m going to life you up and over just wait for me on the other side.¡± She nods her agreement and grabs his shoulders to steady herself while he lifted her. After getting her feet on his shoulders he looked up to see if she was going to need any other help getting over when he froze. He hadn¡¯t realized what she was wearing or more accurately what she wasn¡¯t wearing. All she had on to cover her was a rag dress with holes and patches on it. And that was it. Nothing on underneath. He swallowed and looked back towards the rest of the camp while she climbed off him. After making sure she was safely on the other side he took out his daggers and began his tiring climb. After landing on the other side he noticed that she was patiently waiting for him. ¡°Before we go anywhere do you have a place to go or know how to get us out of here?¡± She nods and motions for him to follow her to the south or what he assumed was the south since he had to circle around the camp to where he had originally scaled the wall. They had been traveling for a little while now maybe an hour or so when the sun set and it grew very cold. They decided to stop at a hollowed tree and squeeze into it. There was hardly any room for them to sit across from one another. A half an hour passes and it grows even colder to where they can see their breath. Logan saw her shivering and started to scoot around to sit beside her before he¡¯d even made it to feet she stared at him and gave out a quiet hiss. He stared back with a very cold glare that took her off guard after how he¡¯d saved her. She thought he was going to do every bad thing her parents had told her bad humans would do if they managed to trick her into a blood oath. While she was stunned he finished moving beside her and pulled her into him wrapping her in his arms and cloak. She was about to hiss at him again after regaining her senses but he began to stroke her head and whispered to her. ¡°You do realize that if I don¡¯t do this you might freeze to death tonight right?" "I just saved you the last thing I want is to wake up nice and warm just to see you cold and dead on the floor.¡± She thought about it for a moment and let the hiss die in her throat. She didn¡¯t have to enjoy this but she did need his heat to survive. She nuzzled into him to try and conserve as much heat as possible before they both fell asleep. Logan woke up and didn¡¯t feel like he had gotten any sleep. Looking around he understood why. He was back in Nyx¡¯s domain as she put it. The light was on thank goodness but she was nowhere to be seen. He started to yell out for her. It took a few shouts of her name to hear a loud bang as the whole floor shook. A few seconds later a large door like shape swung outward five feet in front of him seemingly out of thin air. There stood a tired looking goddess of death and darkness. ¡°What are you doing here so late?¡± She was in a black semi- see through night gown with her hair in a dishevelled mess going down her back. Seeing this Logan began to chuckle to himself unfortunately she caught him. ¡°What¡¯s so funny huh you think you can come into my home and make fun of me.¡± She¡¯s blushing while shouting at him. ¡°I¡¯m not making fun of you exactly it¡¯s just you look kind of cute.¡± She starts blushing more and runs back into what he can only assume to be her room. He¡¯s about to follow her in when the door quickly shuts and she materializes herself next to him in the same black dress he¡¯d first met her in. ¡°So what can I do for you my champion?¡± ¡°And now she¡¯s going to try and play it like nothing just happened.¡± ¡°Yes I¡¯ve got a few questions for you and after coming here after falling asleep just adds another question. She starts nodding like she understood anything and everything he could possibly ask. ¡°Please ask away.¡± He coughed once and began. ¡°When I first came here why was I inside of a forest? Why when I killed two men did I feel nothing about it? How am I here when I didn¡¯t try to be and finally what was it that I felt right before I found that girl?¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 7 She looked at him and seemed impressed but hid the look with her sheepish embarrassed look Logan was beginning to think was a cover. ¡°Well to answer your questions I guess I should start in order. You were in that forest simply because the summoning room I was trying to send you to was there. It appears that the other summoning¡¯s had interfered with my power and dropped you where ever it is you found yourself. Secondly as for you lack of feelings that just comes down to our relationship.¡± As she says that she smiles. ¡°What do you mean our relationship?¡± Her smile seems to grow a little brighter ¡°Why it just shows how close you are to death. You know it isn¡¯t a fiery inferno waiting for evil people or a golden land for the devoted and good people of this world. It is just simply a void where nothing happens and you feel nothing. It is simply the place your mind spirit goes to die. So knowing this you felt no qualms about sending people you deem useless in the world to the void.¡± She gave him an icy smile for a moment before continuing with his questions. ¡°As for why you are here that one has me stumped as well since you are my first champion since I have existed. It is possible since there is no one to teach you how to control you powers it falls to me." "As for your final question that¡¯s a bit complicated. As you know I am the goddess of Death and darkness.¡± Logan nodded and she continued ¡°As such you can sense anything and everything that is either alive or dead. The fact that you are able to do it the day you arrived is very interesting. I¡¯ve seen a few people mostly necromancers or death knights train for decades before being to even grasp it and yet you not only felt that girls strong will to fight her death aka me and instead of acting as my followers would have and killing her you decided to take her with you. Yes very interesting.¡± He looked at her as she still had yet to explain his last question. ¡°Oh right sorry what was it you asked right? Well it¡¯s called sense life. Only a champion of life or death can use it. For obvious reasons it helps those of light to sense people who are in the most immediate need of care. While you my champion would use it to find life and squash it out. Should someone try to attack you in the dead of night you will now they are there long before they even see you." "Or if there are many people around you but only one means you harm you will be able to sense them as the moment they choose to fight you they are already marked as dead.¡± After saying this she let out an icy laugh that sent shivers down Logan¡¯s spine but found that he also smiled at what she had said. Once again she looked at her watch and then sighed. ¡°I¡¯m afraid that¡¯s all we have time for try not to die ok? Oh and I don¡¯t think you old name is going to fit the new you so how about we change it huh? From now on your name will be Dominit Shadow. I¡¯m really enjoying the show so keep it up.¡± She winks at him seductively and he hears that chilling laugh again before he passes out. He slowly wakes up still in the hollowed out tree¡¯s trunk. The girl which he now can see better resembles not just a cat but a white tiger with her stripes. Not knowing what the normal races around here where he was unaware of how rare she really was. She had a small smile on her face while she had it resting on top of his chest. He began to scratch under her chin and her tail began to move slowly back and forth. He smiled and it and began to pet her head while still scratching her chin. He continued this for possibly a minute when he heard a soft purring noise. Her smile grew until she slowly opened her eyes and looked up at him with a small amount of anger and embarrassment. She slowly pushed off of him and then looked at her right hand. He followed her gaze and then saw her nails had been replaced by long sharp claws. ¡°Ok wait wait...¡± She sliced at his face since he was pushed down and couldn¡¯t move very well. She stopped an inch from his eye came close to his face and whispered into his ear. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. ¡°Don¡¯t do that again.¡± She took one claw and slowly dragged it across his left cheek leaving a line of blood. ¡°Sorry about that wasn¡¯t thinking I normally sleep with my pets and always wake up petting them.¡± This caused her anger to flare up even more. ¡°Did you just call me your pet?¡± ¡°Fuck. Nice one Loga... Dominit you might just die today¡± Before he could say anything she looked into his face and saw no ill intent or sexual interest in her. She retracted her claws and got off of him left the small hallow to stretch outside. He followed her after touching his face to wipe the blood off. As he walked over to her and stopped giving her some personal space. ¡°Look I¡¯m sorry I wasn¡¯t trying to do anything to you really it was just a force of habit.¡± He did look apologetic so she decided to humor him. ¡°And what kind of ¡°pets¡± do you have sleep with you?¡± he gulps knowing exactly what she was implying. ¡°Well I actually have or had four dogs. Two large one medium and one small dog. I hope someone is going to take care of them for me now that I¡¯m gone.¡± She looks at him strangely. ¡°What do you mean gone?¡± This time it was his turn to frown at her and look at her suspiciously. ¡°Sorry I don¡¯t know if I can trust you enough with any answers.¡± She slowly hissed at him ¡°How dare you say that.¡± She pulled her rag dress down to show him her chest which had the same symbol from last night just above her breasts. ¡°I let you put this on me and you dare talk about trust.¡± He then laughed at her icily similarly to Nyx¡¯s ¡°You didn¡¯t exactly have much of a choice though. I¡¯m planning on letting you go about your life as soon as we are out of this damn forest.¡± She stomped towards him releasing her claws again. ¡°You think I can just leave you after I did a blood oath with you.¡± She begins to attack him with her claws. ¡°Do you even know what it really does or do you just not care? Since we did the oath with you in a position of power over me it mutated.¡± As she tried to claw his face he caught her arm and used her momentum to trip her making her fall past him. ¡°What are you talking about? What does that even mean?¡± she got up and let lose a high pitched roar like when a lion goes to attack its prey. ¡°What does it mean? It means if I¡¯m more than fifty feet away from you for more than five minutes I¡¯ll receive a pain far more than what that stupid collar did to me and if I show no signs of turning back it will double until I either die or come back to you. The only time it doesn¡¯t affect the enslaved one is if their master¡¯s life is in peril and leaving will save them.¡± She finished talking and got down on all fours then sprang at Dominit. He caught her mid-flight and they rolled around on the ground trying to get the other to submit. He finally managed to capture her and pin her to the forest floor. She was crying now and trying to hit him with closed fists. So he let go of her arms as she started to hit him lightly in the chest. ¡°You bastard I can¡¯t even hurt you because it would violate the oath.¡± She¡¯s still crying and eventually stopped hitting him. He crawled off of her and she just continued to lay there. He was sitting next to her and decided something. ¡°If she¡¯s stuck with me then I¡¯d better treat her right. Like mom always said a happy wife means a happy life or slave I guess but still.¡± He grabs her shoulders and she stiffens waiting to be struck for attacking him. Instead she is pulled into his embrace much like the night before and he begins to pet her head again. ¡°I¡¯m sorry I didn¡¯t know that it would turn out this way. I know it doesn¡¯t mean much to you now but I will cherish you for as long as I live.¡± She took a small amount of comfort from his words and stayed there in his grasp trying to think of a future where she could face her parent¡¯s being a blood slave to a human man she didn¡¯t know. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 8 She stayed in his grasp for ten minutes or so before patting his arms to let him know she was ready to get moving. They continued southward for a few hours and seemed to Dominit that they hadn¡¯t made any real progress. It was around midday when she began to slow. She found a small clearing with some fallen trees on its outskirts and sat down on one breathing hard. Which had surprised him since he hadn¡¯t even broken a sweat yet. He sat down next to her and realized he hadn¡¯t asked her what her name was yet nor had he introduced himself to her. Actually it¡¯s probably best he hadn¡¯t what with Nyx changing his name on a whim. ¡°Can¡¯t even think of myself as a Logan anymore. How¡¯d she even do that to me?¡± He sighed inwardly and sat on the same log she was but gave her enough space to not feel threatened. ¡°So I guess we still don¡¯t even know each other¡¯s names yet. I¡¯m Dominit.¡± She looked over at him and frowned. ¡°Such a weird name¡± she muttered ¡°My parents named me Cassandra.¡± Dominit nods appreciatively ¡°Nice name mind if I call you Cassi?¡± She thinks about it for a moment and barely nods. ¡°Yeah sure why not. It¡¯s probably best if people don¡¯t hear my real name and figure out who I am any way.¡± This took Dominit by surprise. ¡°What exactly do you mean by that? Are you some one important around here?¡± She scowls at him because she thinks he¡¯s making a joke about their current situation. But seeing his honest expression she realized he was being serious. ¡°My family is close to the King and queen of Blazen to the south. That is why we are heading in that direction. I¡¯m hoping I¡¯ll be able to find a caravan traveling towards it that we could join.¡± Dominit smiles at her glad to know at least one of them had a plan. After a few more minutes resting she jumps from the log and continues walking south. It took them three more hours after their first rest to come to the edge of the forest. Just after leaving the tree line Cassy collapses. Dominit runs to her side. ¡°Cassy!¡± She¡¯s breathing heavily and has a slight fever. ¡°Shit she probably hasn¡¯t eaten for at least a day or so let alone drink anything.¡± He quickly picked her up and carried her back to the treeline. He began to look for a place to hide her so he could find her some food and water. Finding a tree whose roots were above the soil giving him enough room to gentle place her inside. He grabbed nearby leaves and branches to block of the entrance from prying eyes. Dominit is about to leave when he hears a woman scream to the west. Carefully making his way towards the scream he finds a group of men surrounding a lone woman in chain mail armor with a long sword and a buckler. She had an arrow sticking out of her left shoulder making her left arm useless. The men were laughing and taunting her. ¡°Hey sweet heart how¡¯s about you drop your weapon and we¡¯ll be gentle with ya¡± said the dirty man in the middle of the other three men. They all proceeded to laugh at her. Dominit not caring for what they were doing to her chose to circle around and make sure there weren¡¯t any others hiding in the shadows like him. After being confident that they were alone he pulled the bow from his back and strung an arrow holding another in between his fingers while holding the bow. He pulled back waiting for the perfect time to strike steadying his breathing to make sure he was as accurate as possible. The lead man shrugged when she had made no indication she would lower her weapon. He playfully lunged at her with his sword causing her to panic with his sudden move and ended up falling on her rear. This of course caused the men to laugh again as if this was the funniest routine they¡¯d seen in a while. Dominit not one to pass up the opportunity that had just presented itself to him shot at the man closest to him hoping no one would notice one less laugh. The arrow flew silently through the air and went into the back of the man¡¯s chest piercing his heart and he fell to the floor. Before a second had passed Dominit had strung and pulled back his second arrow aiming for the next man¡¯s chest. He fired as the man noticed his fellow brigand laying on the ground and buckled over in laughter thinking he¡¯d fallen either mocking the woman or from laughing to hard. Dominit not expecting this movement had originally meant to pierce his heart as well but instead put the arrow through his eye until only half of the shaft was visible. He stopped laughing and fell. The other two men were confused as to why the other two stopped laughing as it was still pretty funny to them. Seeing their comrades¡¯ corpses they retreated a step as Dominit stepped out of the shadows towards them. ¡°I sincerely hope that this¡± he motions towards them all ¡°was worth the indignation and pain you caused that poor woman. Because now you are going to join your friends in death.¡± Both men looked angered by what he said then turned to one another and laughed again. ¡°And how exactly are you going to accomplish that hmm? You should have stuck to the shadows like a good little bitch. Now¡¯s there¡¯s nothing to protect you from me or my mate Boras here.¡± The man next to him smiled and brought out a great sword. Dominit sighed and in one solid motion the two men couldn¡¯t even see it happened so fast he threw both his daggers from behind his back into the shoulders of the leader. He dropped his sword as the daggers sunk fully into his meaty flesh severing a few tendons. Then he screamed like an animal that had been mauled. Boras looked confused and looked to see what had happened. ¡°Haha good one there pal.¡± Dominit laughs dryly ¡°Now I¡¯m going to kill you friend Boras here rather quickly and then when I¡¯m done I¡¯ll let her¡± Dominit nods in the woman¡¯s direction ¡°finish you off¡± He then begins to walk toward a nervous Boras. It only lasted a second as Boras thought he had just disarmed himself by throwing his only weapons at his friend. Charging at the black clad figure Boras goes for a monstrous overhead slash. While he wound up Dominit pretended to trip and as he rose pulled the dagger from his boot and wrist hiding them against his forearms. Boras closed the distance and began to unleash his full swing when it was caught about half way through by the cloaked stranger. Dominit had made a V with his daggers and caught the great sword near the hilt as it was about chest level for Boras. As soon as the weapon was stopped Dominit spun around Boras'' left side to get behind him then grabbed his head with one hand and slit his throat with the other. Boras still unsure of what had happened began gurgling in protest to the unfairness of the fight. Slumping forward with hands to his throat Boras quickly bleed to death as Dominit had made sure to sever both the arteries in his neck feeding blood to the brain.A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. Wiping his daggers off on Bora¡¯s back and hiding them back in their sheath he slowly walked towards the now kneeling bandit. ¡°Hmm I guess I didn¡¯t need the shadows did I¡± He smiles and pulls both his other daggers from his shoulders. The man screamed again in pain. ¡°Shhhhh it¡¯s almost over¡± Dominit whispered. Walking to the woman on the ground he offered her a hand up. She stared at him in fear and disbelief. Taking a moment to steel herself she took his hand and was pulled to her feet. She walked over to the man who¡¯d belittled her and put her sword to his throat. ¡°As I was asking before where is she?¡± He looked up at her not understanding where it had all gone wrong. She had first approached him trying to find out where some woman was taken after her and a small group of people were attacked on the road a night ago. Taking a liking to what he could see from her figure in armor and her voice he had decided to make her his group¡¯s ¡°pet¡±. Someone to take care of their urges whenever they left their main base farther to the north. Signaling for his men to come out of hiding they¡¯d played cat and mouse with her until they¡¯d grown bored shooting her in the arm with an arrow to slow her and make her surrender without too much damage to her body. Then some bastard came slinking from the shadows after killing the other two in his group. With him out of the shadows he believed Boras would be more than enough to take care of the man until he had shown just how efficient and deadly he truly was. Now realizing he was either going to die without giving this woman the answers she wanted or maybe just maybe she¡¯d let him go after answering as there was no honor in killing an unarmed man. So he did the only thing he was good at he tried to survive. ¡°All the women who weren¡¯t killed were taken to the main base twelve miles north of here. I don¡¯t know if the one you¡¯re looking for survived the initial ambush but if she did then that¡¯s where she¡¯ll be I swear.¡± The woman took a moment to process this information before nodding sheathing her sword and walking to the man who¡¯d saved her. ¡°Thank you very much. If it wasn¡¯t for you I shudder to think about what would have happened to me¡± she bowed to him to express her gratitude. Dominit just waved her thank you away ¡°Are you just going to leave that one alive then?¡± She turned around to see the man still bleeding from his shoulders and shrugged. ¡°If he doesn¡¯t die from the wounds you gave him then a beast will show up.¡± Dominit frowned at what she had said ¡°Really how can you be so na?ve. You don¡¯t know if there are more people from his group who could come across him and gain a large amount of information or even warn the rest that you were going to be coming¡± Walking back to the only surviving member of the group he leaned over him from behind. ¡°Did you hear that? This benevolent woman is going to let you live you¡¯d better thank her.¡± The man turned his head towards her and began to say thank you when Dominit drove his dagger into his ear with enough force that the point was sticking out the other ear. This made the woman gasp and draw her sword albeit with a great deal of swinging her one good arm since she couldn¡¯t grasp the sheath with her other hand to help guide it out. She pointed it at him ¡°Why did you do that? There was no need even if he had survived you could have just killed him after he was able to fight back.¡± Dominit shook his head at how little she thought this through. ¡°If he had survived he could have alerted every one of the pieces of trash that work with him that you would be making your way to them. They¡¯d either ambush you again or just overwhelm you with more people.¡± He went to the first two of the group he¡¯d killed to retrieve his arrows so long as the head hadn¡¯t chipped or shafts bent. Finding both were alright he put them back in the quiver after cleaning them. He wasn¡¯t sure what types of metals his weapons were but if he left blood on it long enough it would rust and dull the blade. He continued to check the bodies on the ground for anything he thought might be valuable. He found two small red vials and another green one. He¡¯d also found fifteen more arrows and took the shirt off one of their backs. Finally he took any and all food he could find in their bags including waterskins. That was all anything was worth on this measly group. After looting their corpses he began walking toward the woman he¡¯d save who still had her sword pointed at him. ¡°I suggest you put the sword down. If you don¡¯t I won¡¯t help you with the arrow still sticking out of your left shoulder.¡± She looks over at the arrow just in time for Dominit to close the distance between them and knock the sword from her hand. She began to retreat from him afraid he was just like the last group. He held up his hands in a sign of surrender and stayed still. She then looked down at his feet wondering if she could get to her sword before he could draw his daggers. She knew it was a fool¡¯s hope but she still had to try. While still in a daze Dominit had disappeared from her vision. She was about to rush for her sword when a strong hand grabbed her right shoulder and then she felt an intense burning pain from her other shoulder. She screamed again falling to her knees as the pain had almost forced her to fall unconscious. Dominit began to rip pieces of cloth from the shirt he¡¯d taken to bandage her wound. She laughed ¡°you took two healing potions from them and yet you¡¯re going to treat my wound with one of their sweaty and dirty shirts you heartless bastard.¡± Dominit pulled out one of the red vials guessing it was what she meant and handed it to her. She was surprised but took it uncorked it poured half of it on the wound and drank the rest. The wound healed in a matter of moments. Dominit sprang up and walked over to her sword as she swung her arm to make sure it was to full fighting potential. He picked it up and noticed a crest of some kind. What looked to be a chimera with a lion¡¯s head breathing fire, goats feet with thunder coming from the hooves, A snake for a tail with poison spewing from its mouth and a large pair of dragon wings. He walked back to her and handed her the sword. She accepted it and put it away. ¡°You know I could use your help trying to rescue my um friend.¡± She said a little shyly. Dominit looked over and smiled slightly. ¡°I wish could but I already have someone who needs my help I was just about to go hunting and foraging when I¡¯d heard you scream. She had collapsed and I must be getting back to her now.¡± The woman nodded and as Dominit walked off she began to follow him. He looked back at her while walking ¡°Why exactly are you following me?¡± She shrugged and said ¡°I¡¯m not exactly safe in these woods so there shouldn¡¯t be any harm in following you to your companion. You know strength in numbers I guess.¡± He nodded and kept walking. Finally getting to the tree he¡¯d hidden Cassy under. He started moving the makeshift camouflage until he could pull her from underneath. As he did he heard the woman behind him gasp and the tell-tale sound of a sword coming clear of its sheath. He felt the cold steel press against the back of his neck as she asked ¡°Why do you have the princess?¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 9 ¡°You have got to be kidding me. A fucking princess come on why could I just have some homeless girl be bound to me for life. That would have been far less complicated than this mess.¡± He stayed as still as possible so as to not show his latest damsel in distress any sign of hostility. ¡°I found her in the bandit¡¯s base to the north last night. She was collared and inside what I assume to be the leaders tent.¡± She circled around him to get a better look at Cassy. ¡°Princess can you hear me? Are you alright?¡± She didn¡¯t get a response. ¡°Like I was saying earlier I don¡¯t know when the last time she¡¯s eaten or had anything to drink.¡± He holds up the rations he¡¯d taken from the bandits only a few minutes ago. ¡°This isn¡¯t hunger or thirst this is some kind of magical affliction. What have you done to her¡± She forces the blade against his throat forcing him to get up and back away from Cassy. ¡°Look I don¡¯t know what happened ok. We had just walked out of the tree line when she fell and has been like this since.¡± She quickly kneels next to Cassy not taking her eyes off him. ¡°Princess. Princess Cassandra.¡± She shakes her shoulder trying to awaken her. Cassy groans and her eyes flutter open. ¡°Mhmm Emma is that you?¡± She tries to sit up but Emma stops her. ¡°Yes princess I¡¯m here. I¡¯m glad I caught you before this man could steal you away to gods know where. Cassy notices Dominit is being held at sword point and her eyes open wide. ¡°Wait Emma don¡¯t hurt him please.¡± This caused Emma to lower her sword momentarily. ¡°What do you mean my lady he obviously has nefarious plans for you being the princess of a kingdom.¡± Cassy slowly shakes her head ¡°No Emma you don¡¯t understand he saved me from ¡°them¡±.¡± Emma gasps at the mention of ¡°them¡±. ¡°What happened they didn¡¯t do anything to you did they?¡± Emma began to fuss over Cassy like a mother hen. ¡°All they did was collar me with a master work grade collar. That¡¯s why I¡¯m having problems right now.¡± At this point Emma drops her sword to the ground and begins to look at the collar attached to Cassy¡¯s neck. ¡°No that can¡¯t be¡± She slowly spins it around. ¡°My lady how is it you are so far away from them then if this is a masterwork piece?¡± Cassy blushes slightly and looks over at Dominit. ¡°The only way I could.¡± Emma gasps and looks back to Dominit. ¡°You don¡¯t mean a blood oath?¡± Cassy simply nods. Emma shakily rises to her feet trying not to look at Dominit. He uses the opportunity to ask her what happened to her body. Apparently after negating a powerful enslavement spell like the one that was in her collar by using a stronger magic like the blood oath the weaker magic has to dissipate and the only way to do it is to use the person¡¯s body as a conduit. Dominit knowing nothing about magic other than that he could use it just had to accept her words. She wasn¡¯t in any danger for the time being she¡¯d just be tired for a few days. Dominit breathed a heavy sigh of relief. Then a thought came across his mind. ¡°Cassy er Princess Cassandra after you collapsed I left you safely hidden away to find you food and water as I was sure that¡¯s what you needed. But I¡¯m not sure how far away I was. Wouldn¡¯t that make the blood oath cause you harm?¡± Cassandra looked at him strangely after he began calling her Princess Cassandra ¡°Well it all depends really. There are certain conditions that would cause the spell to activate its punishment. One would be if I tried to make an escape thus the fifty foot radius. The second is attempting to harm the owner directly or indirectly. As I tried to injure you earlier today I was expecting the full backlash from the spell since I had even drawn blood. For some reason however it never came.¡± Dominit thought that might have had something to do with the fact that he knew he¡¯d crossed the line and didn¡¯t blame her for her reaction even if in his eyes it was a little extreme. ¡°The third condition is if you or I are in trouble the other party is able to travel any distance to get help. If however the slave decides part way through their journey to instead run away the very thought would cause the same pain as the first condition would. There are some myths of people so powerful when it comes to a slave¡¯s oath that they can manipulate it in any way they see fit. If they wanted to let their slave roam free for the rest of their days with no restrictions other than the blood oath already being bound to their master. And other stories of vile men and women who love to see slaves wail in agony making it to where for every breath they¡¯d take it would cause them unimaginable pain. Thankfully none of those stories have ever been proven truthful.¡± Dominit was relieved to hear in his somewhat mad dash to try and help the Princess he hadn¡¯t inadvertently caused her any harm. Emma still stunned and spacing out seemed to catch snippets of their conversation. ¡°Princess what¡¯s this about a slave. Did you not perform an equal¡¯s contract with this man to escape from those awful humans?¡± Cassy nods ¡°I had but the morning after I¡¯d found that the magic had mutated into a slave oath. I am now bound to this man as his slave.¡± ¡°Crap this isn¡¯t going to end well is it?¡± Emma glares at him but ends up sighing. ¡°So he saved you as well Princess. Such a strange man to help others with no mention of a reward. Very strange in these times. I was sure he had planned to ransom you back to your family.¡±The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. He laughs at this causing the princess the glare at him as well. ¡°And what¡¯s so funny¡± He shrugs and starts walking towards her. ¡°Oh you know just the fact that you¡¯d think I would walk a princess of all people into her land and demand a ransom. I mean come on how dumb can people get.¡± Finishing his laugh he bends down to Pick Cassandra up. ¡°What do you think you¡¯re doing to the Princess now human?¡± He looks back at her ¡°Well if it wasn¡¯t obvious enough to you I¡¯m picking her up. Daylights wasting and I¡¯m sure we have a long way to travel might as well start now.¡± Emma begrudgingly nods in agreement and slowly leads the way southward talking to Cassandra every once in a while to make sure the ¡°human¡± wasn¡¯t getting to grabby. A few weeks passed as they travelled together through rough terrain and eventually crossing through ha large desert. Luckily being two natives the girls were able to easily point out Oasis roads. Which were path ways that were well maintained to keep every traveler with half a brain on a path that would eventually take them to a town village or city. It looked a lot like someone had come and melted the sand into a glass walkway to travel on. It took them only three days to make it to the nearest town to resupply for their long trek to the capital city of Blazen called Fierane. The weeks after this were much easier in comparison to when Dominit had first woken up. They passed many other travelers on the oasis roads. Dominit took the time to get to know Cassy and Emma. After the third day of him finding out she was a princess she¡¯d had a fit about the way he called her. Much preferring the comfortable nickname opposed to the long winded title that she always had to hear whenever she was near people who knew her. So he stuck to it and found out a few things about them. Cassy was an only child of the King and Queen of Blazen. Being treated like a lady and nothing else had made her grow tired of palace life. Instead of follow in her parent¡¯s footsteps she instead began to train as a warrior after the age of seven. Her parent¡¯s seeing her enjoyment when it came to the discipline when it came to the sword decided to find her a friend and guard. Thus she met Emma around a year later and they¡¯d been practically inseparable since. Training, eating, sleeping, and bathing together for over twelve years. Two nights ago they had been guarding a caravan heading towards the city of Ilada the city that was founded at the corner of all four empires. After the raid had begun Cassy had sent Emma on ahead to guard the rear and allow as many of the other travelers to get away. She and fifteen other individuals had sacrificed themselves for the good of the group. The five men were killed and the women were the ones Dominit had seen later that night in the pit being slaughtered as a form of entertainment. The conversation had stop for quite a while after that as none of them wanted to remember such things. As they traveled the girls shared a tent while Dominit had chosen to instead sleep outside. The girls tried to talk him out of it but since they only had the one tent as much as he¡¯d love to sleep next to two young women he really didn¡¯t need to wake up to claws in the face for petting one of them in their sleep. Every night he fell asleep he¡¯d cross over into Nyx¡¯s realm and would talk to her about a variety of things. He wanted to know everything a normal denizen of the world would know so he could pass himself off as one. That along with controlling his powers and trying to practice his fighting as all the things he¡¯d done was by pure instinct. Over time he had grown to understand his two abilities much greater. For the sense life one he could tell where anything living or not was within a forty foot radius around him whether it was through the sand or stone wall it didn¡¯t matter. This gave him an outstanding advantage against anyone trying to ambush him. As for his other power it was his shadow melding ability. When he¡¯d asked Nyx about it she gave him some vague answer. Which might as well been a ¡°Practice makes perfect so get busy¡±. After he spent the weeks traveling to sneak up on other people to see how close he began to grasp what to it was he was doing. He wasn¡¯t drawing shadow to hide him. He was actually merging with it becoming one with it. When he talked to Nyx about it she gave him a knowing smile and began to explain how all shadow¡¯s where made up of the same substance. If a high class water mage was able to merge with the water in a pool they could travel anywhere in the water and reappear as a form of defense and travel. What Dominit made of it was ¡°so if you merge with the shadows of a tree in that forest and wanted to travel anywhere else in the world you could.¡± Of course that would take a large amount of training as something that strong would surely kill you if you were unprepared for it. Understanding what he could do with it Dominit began jumping from shadow to shadow as he traveled. His first attempt was only from five feet away and within eyesight not though a wall or a few miles away and still he passed out for a few hours exhausted. He¡¯d have to learn to control how much mana he used to merge and un-merge his body as well as travel. If he used all of it for all three tasks then he was sure to never be able to master this magic. Finally they¡¯d reached Blazen and upon making it to the gate were immediately granted access to the city and escorted to the royal palace. It was here Dominit found himself lead by a maid to a large open air bath meant for the king and queen to share. As he was soaking his worries away he began to hear two familiar voices walking towards him. All he could think was ¡°Please for the love of god not this clich¨¦ I don¡¯t know if I¡¯ll survive it.¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 10 Dominit was about to call out to them too let them know he was already in the bath hoping to avoid him being attacked by his new friends. Before he could utter a word he¡¯d heard several more footsteps coming from the same direction and then a female voice talk to them. ¡°Princess I was told to inform you that while the bath is ready your guest has already entered. If you would like we could have him removed.¡± Dominit was able to make out the sound of metal scraping against stone. ¡°No I don¡¯t think that will be necessary but thank you Louise. I have much to talk to him about and I¡¯d rather have him relaxed here than beaten bloody in a cell¡± They were talking and still walking towards the bath. Appearing from around a corner Cassy, Emma, and seven other women dressed for a fight walked in. Cassy and Emma both had towels wrapped around their bodies. Cassy¡¯s was a little bit higher than Emma¡¯s most likely hiding the symbol above her breasts. The other women stared in his direction as they walked closer. Cassy looked back to them and said ¡°We¡¯ll be fine you can go now.¡± They lingered for a moment before bowing and walking back the way they came. Cassy sighed and slowly took off her towel and slid into the bath. As she began to undo her towel Dominit turned his head away to show a bit of respect. Emma took that opportunity to enter the bath as well. After they had all settled in Dominit took a moment to look over Emma. He¡¯d never noticed she wasn¡¯t a Beastkin. She was only a human he thought she had just been hiding her animalistic features to not draw attention while traveling. There was nothing very memorable about her appearance only that she had shoulder length black hair and brown eyes. She noticed him looking her way and looked away from him to Cassy. ¡°I guess now would be a good time to explain what that was about. They think you found me unconscious and forced this collar on me.¡± Dominit sighed because there was no way having people think you intently enslaved a kingdoms princess would get you very many friends. ¡°Exactly everyone in the palace wants you in the dungeon being tortured until you take this off of me. Which obviously wouldn¡¯t help me since you didn¡¯t do it.¡± I would recommend you stay close to me as someone may take it upon themselves to interrogate you. He nodded and began to leave the bath giving the two ladies their well-earned relaxation time. After wrapping up and only showing the Cassy a momentary glance at his butt as had Emma turned away. Before walking to a changing room with his old clothes he turned back to Cassy. ¡°If I can do you think I could get a small room with a bed? I¡¯d like to take a nap before we do anything.¡± She nodded and told him to ask one of the maids waiting outside to take care of him. He did as she said and found himself somewhere in the palace with a room of his own. Taking a few minutes to remove his armor he laid down and fell asleep as soon as his head touched the pillow. He was expecting to wake up and spend more time training and talking with Nyx but for some reason he wasn¡¯t there. It wasn¡¯t that he showed up somewhere else it was that the usual place felt strange. Like something was missing and low and behold it was because Nyx¡¯s was gone. Dominit wasn¡¯t sure if this was a normal thing since it was the first time since he¡¯d been here that she was missing. Unable to do anything besides shout for her. After spending ten minutes doing so he decided it was a waste of time and went about his training throwing daggers and using his powers. Nyx told him that being in her realm made him able to use his powers as much as he wanted without the obvious fatigue after over using them in the real world. After a few hours of training he felt a sudden pain on his right cheek. All of a sudden he was violently torn from his dream state and thrust into a dark jail cell. ¡°Fuck me really literally just after she told me to stay close.¡± A man stepped into the cell with a furious look and behind him was a woman. The man was largely built and quite tall possibly seven feet tall with red hair that reached his shoulders and atop his head were ears. The woman behind him had orange hair and stood closer to five foot five. She was also glaring at him. Dominit unsure of what was going on other than he was about to be interrogated tried his best to talk with them before any real torture began. ¡°Hi there would you mind if I asked¡¡± before he could finished speaking the large man punched him the stomach so hard he and the chair he was tied to lifted off the floor for a moment. He began to cough and wheeze as the powerful blow had knocked the wind out of him. ¡°You listen here Supremacy scum. If you open your mouth one more time without being asked I¡¯ll take one of your fingers as payment. Now we are going to ask you a few questions and you are going to answer them honestly or else. Do you understand?¡± Dominit nodded slowly and began to stare angrily at the man.If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. ¡°Good now first question where did you find our daughter?¡± Dominit thought for a moment and wasn¡¯t sure who the man was talking about ¡°Who?¡± he asked which was the wrong answer as the woman walked behind him with a blade and quickly severed his pinky finger from the knuckle down on his left hand. He ground his teeth and groaned. ¡°You know who the princess. Where did you find her?¡± Realization dawning on him he told the king and queen about the base he¡¯d found her in. After finishing he was punched in the face. ¡°You bastards what did you do to her while she was there?¡± He told them that he wasn¡¯t sure as he¡¯d snuck into the camp and saw the tent. He walked towards it hoping to find something good inside only to find the princess. He was punched again in his stomach causing a small amount of blood to fly from his mouth as he coughed. ¡°Good good now we can talk about removing her collar then yes?¡± Dominit looked at him and shook his head. Before he could tell them he hadn¡¯t been the one to collar her another finger was cut from his left hand his ring finger. He groaned again but was able to tell them he wasn¡¯t responsible for it. This caused the king to laugh ¡°If you weren¡¯t the one who did it then she¡¯d be dead as she has run away. No you are the owner that¡¯s why you came here to try and negotiate a trade for her safe return.¡± Once again he shook his head only to feel the knife slice through his middle finger. ¡°AHHHHHHHH¡± he screamed. Causing them both to laugh at his pain. ¡°Oh we¡¯re just getting started boy.¡± His wife walked out from behind him wave the three fingers to him and exited the cell but turned back around and leaned against the far wall. ¡°I get back from the summoning ritual only to find my daughter is being held hostage by you scum. Did you expect to walk away with whatever spoils we offered for her safe return?¡± ¡°Please I¡¯m not who you¡¡± Dominit¡¯s face was rocked to the side as the king¡¯s massive fist swung into it knocking him and the chair to the floor. He pulled the chair back up with Dominit in it and chuckled. ¡°You shouldn¡¯t interrupt. As I was saying no you won¡¯t be ever leaving this castle alive. I will give you a somewhat quick death after a few days of torture. You should thank me for not having you healed and ¡°playing¡± with you for years. Think of it as gratitude for safely bringing my daughter home.¡± After his little lecture was over he began to unleash blow after blow into Dominit¡¯s face. Having to stop after a few hits to pick him back up and start again. He was able to land twelve blows before there was a commotion down the long corridor that lead to the exit of the dungeon. ¡°Princess please you can¡¯t go down there right now you¡¯re captor is currently being questioned.¡± Said an unfamiliar voice. ¡°What have you people done with him? How many times have I said that he saved me and Emma from ¡°them¡±. He isn¡¯t one of them. Now get out of my way or I¡¯m make personally sure you are the next one questioned for daring to bar my way. There was a clatter and the sounds of shoes hitting stone steps. A moment later Cassandra ran down the corridor then stopping as she saw her mother leaning against a wall in front of a cell. ¡°Mother it¡¯s so good to see you when did you get back and why are you down here of all places?¡± He mother smiled at her at was about to move to hug her when Cassandra pushed her back. ¡°What¡¯s that in your hand mother?¡± before she could answer her daughters question the king walked out from the cell with his fists covered in blood. ¡°Oh father you were here as well. This isn¡¯t exactly the best place for us to have a reunion.¡± He smiled and nodded. ¡°Indeed my little one. How about we go upstairs and talk?¡± Cassandra smiled and nodded as they walked past her she stopped them ¡°I¡¯ll be up in a moment I¡¯m looking for someone right now he saved me from ¡°Supremacy¡± and I found out someone was questioning him. Gods help anyone who laid a finger on him.¡± She looked over to the guard and waved to him. ¡°Show me which cell he¡¯s in now.¡± The guard slowly raised his finger and pointed at the one her parents had just left. She frowned for a moment not fully understanding why her parent¡¯s would be in Dominit¡¯s cell until she realized who¡¯d been ¡°questioning¡± him. She darted inside and upon seeing his sorry state scream out to the guard. ¡°Hurry and bring a healer!¡± she cut him loose with her claws and slowly lifted him up putting her neck under his left arm to support her half-conscious saviour. After leaving the cell she saw no one had moved. She screamed again for a healer sending the guard running back the way he¡¯d arrived. Cassandra started to drag him forward. As she passed her mother and father she saw what was in her mother¡¯s hands. She looked horrified and screamed at them both. ¡°How could you do this to him? He saved me from them you idiots. But how do you repay him by cutting his fingers off and beating his face until is nothing but shattered bones.¡± They started to protest that she was being deceived that he¡¯d only lied to her so that she would come to his aid if anything like this happened and that as soon as they got him to take the collar off of her she¡¯d realize what they were saying was true. At this point in the conversation multiple people began running towards them there were three people in white robes while they had five palace guards following right behind them. ¡°Take him to my chambers and do anything it takes to keep him alive.¡± She quickly snatched his fingers from her mother ¡°And put these back on.¡± Giving them to the head healer. Everyone looked at the princess and her parents as they¡¯d all been made aware of the man who¡¯d enslaved the princess. Cassandra slapped him and told him to do it or else she would personally ruin any chance he had at furthering his position in Blazen. At that point Dominit didn¡¯t remember much else. All he remembered was fading from a state of consciousness and something akin to a coma. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 11 He opened his eyes to find himself in a large red canopied bed. He struggled to get up and felt an immense pain in his left hand. Worriedly he brought his hand up to check for his missing fingers. Luckily they were still there but the places he¡¯d felt them cut away felt as if they were on fire. He looked around the room for anyone else. Finding no one he relaxed slightly and began to walk around to inspect the room. There were end tables on both sides of the bed. Both had large vases of flowers. The left side of the wall had large windows and red drapes embroidered with gold trim. On the opposite side of the room was the door and halfway into the room was a large rug that covered most of the cold stone floor. It had the same crest as Emma¡¯s sword but had a red field of blood behind it. As he was looking around the door opened and a maid slowly back in. As she did so Dominit walked towards the drapes and hid behind them. The maid slowly made her way towards the bed carrying another vase of flowers. When she was within a few feet of the bed she realized it was no longer occupied. She dropped the large vase and sprinted to the door yelling ¡°He¡¯s gone someone alert their highnesses and the princess.¡± As she ran out he poked his head out of the drapes and slowly crept to the door. Outside of the door two guards were each one running in a different direction. Dominit waited a moment before slowly slinking out of the door and began creeping back towards the room he¡¯d first fallen asleep in hoping his gear was still stashed there. He had a few close calls as maids and guards were running franticly up and down the halls. Luckily he had been practicing his abilities so no one noticed him. After making it safely back he went in and looked around not finding his weapons or armor. He decided to try and transport himself to where ever his things were being held. Most likely it was all being held in an armoury which they¡¯d be guarding in case he¡¯d try to get it and escape which is exactly what he was going to attempt to do. Taking a moment to gather himself he walked straight into a wall. He became a part of the darkness and came out of another wall halfway through the castle. ¡°And make sure if you see him you only detain him. If I hear he¡¯s been injured I will punish those responsible do you understand me?¡± It was Cassy¡¯s voice. Dominit wanted to talk to her but couldn¡¯t trust anyone in the castle after what had happened. He¡¯d have to hope she¡¯d be fine after he left. But couldn¡¯t be sure with the blood oath. He searched through the room he¡¯d transported to and it appeared to be the treasury. It only took a few minutes to find and don his equipment. After making sure he had everything that he¡¯d had on him when he was captured he decided to leave a message for Cassy. Taking gold coins he began to place them on the ground to spell out ¡°See ya later Cassy¡±. After he was done he walked back to the wall and was about to phase through his shadow again when he stopped. ¡°Should I head back to the small room or Cassy¡¯s room? People are less likely to look somewhere they¡¯ve already checked before.¡± Not knowing if his room had already been searched he walked into the shadow and appeared back in Cassy¡¯s room tangled in the drapes. ¡°We¡¯re so sorry sweetheart please if we had known you were bound to him we would have never done what we did.¡± He heard her mother. ¡°Fuck I¡¯m too tired to phase again I¡¯ll just have to wait until they leave.¡± ¡°You would have both known if you¡¯d simply come and seen me first instead of torturing him.¡± ¡°Oh wow she seems pretty pissed.¡± Then he heard the king ¡°Please little one calm down we¡¯ll find him and clear up this whole mess.¡± ¡°Oh please dad if you were tortured by a king and a queen after saving a princess would you stick around to talk it out?¡± He sighed ¡°No I suppose I wouldn¡¯t¡± Dominit then heard the door open with Emma running in shouting ¡°Princess he made it to the treasury.¡± Cassy perked up ¡°So they caught him?¡± she asked hopefully. Emma didn¡¯t respond right away. ¡°Unfortunately no. He somehow snuck past the guards stationed there made his way inside and took his items. He also left a message for you princess.¡± ¡°What did it say?¡± ¡°It said see you later Cassy.¡± He heard something slam down on the ground ¡°What does that mean? He is bound to our daughter if he leaves what¡¯s going to happen to our daughter?¡± The king sounded angry. ¡°What should we have expected darling we treated him so horribly all because of a misunderstanding. He even tried to tell us we just wouldn¡¯t listen.¡± The queen began to choke up and Dominit couldn¡¯t take it anymore so he walked out of the drapes. ¡°Ok no need to be sad I haven¡¯t gone too far.¡± When he stepped out he saw Emma was in the middle of the room with Cassy a few feet in front of her. Her father was a foot away from the bed and her mother was sitting on the bed with a tear running down her face. Cassy seeing Dominit ran at him and tackled him with a hug. ¡°I¡¯m so so so sorry about what happened to you. Please don¡¯t be too angry with my parents they were only trying to help me.¡± She tried to give him a puppy dog look to try and smooth things over between him and her parents but Dominit wasn¡¯t going to have it. He slowly pushed her off of him ¡°No can do. You see there is nothing I hate more than helping someone only to be stabbed in the back or hand¡± he raises his left hand for emphasis she looked sad when he let them know he was going to hold a grudge for the way he¡¯d been treated. The king came forward angrily and shouted ¡°If you had just told us you were bound to our daughter we never who have hurt you like that. If two people do the bond together they share emotions. Why would we hurt you only to cause our own daughter pain?¡± ¡°What are you talking about I don¡¯t know how to do the bond and didn¡¯t Cassy say something about it being mutated in the forest Emma? The king froze at hearing this new information. Emma cautiously stepped forward. ¡°Ye... yes she did sir¡± and she bowed to him. Everyone looked towards Cassandra to explain. ¡°Um what had happened was well.¡± She than began to tell her parents how she¡¯d been captured and then later saved by him only by performing the blood oath to counter act the collar. How since she did the spell from a state of desperation and he a place of power over her it had changed from a mutual or lovers bond as some called it to one of a slave bond. The king hearing that his only daughter was now enslaved to some man they knew nothing about went into a rage and tried to take it out on Dominit. Only to be stopped by his daughter, Emma, and his Wife. Taking a moment to calm himself he tried to negotiate a release with Dominit as most oaths could be undo given a few sacrifices be made. Not sacrifices as in you had to kill people but what he¡¯s suggested sounded even worse than what they¡¯d down to him in the cell. It required both parties to want to break the oath and then one would person would be used as a conduit for the magic to be released. Akin to the collar when Cassy had collapsed only instead of exhaustion they would receive excruciating pain for an unknown period of time never ending until the spell had run its course. The king not willing to sacrifice his daughter had chosen to strongly suggest Dominit take on this responsibility since it was apparently his fault in the first place it was done. As this ¡°negation¡± continued Dominit became furious as this bastard had the gull to insist he be the one to bear such a burden.Stolen from its original source, this story is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings. Cassy seeing this tried to soothe both men before they came to blows. Unfortunately she was already too late. Her father threw a punch Dominit was hoping would give him a reason to beat It was much stronger than he anticipated however and went flying back breaking the window behind him. Cassy and her mother tried to step in between them but the king pushed both of them to the side. ¡°You will do as I say boy. I will not have my daughter be bound to you when I was discussing a marriage between my kingdom and the Dwarves.¡± Cassy gasped ¡°Father you said you¡¯d done away with such plans.¡± ¡°I had stopped but the recent rumors of the other nations making them a similar offer to gain more resources than current trade agreements allow.¡± Dominit chuckled at him wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth stepped forward to brawl with this behemoth of a man. ¡°Wait no please don¡¯t kill him.¡± Emma begged to which the king laughed as well. ¡°Don¡¯t worry if he dies then Cassandra will be bound for life and we can¡¯t have that.¡± Emma looked a little scared when she said ¡°I¡ I wasn¡¯t taking to you your highness.¡± This shocked everyone in the room for a moment. As soon as the king looked away in disbelief to Emma Dominit struck. He kicked his right foot into the kings left knee forcing him to yell out in pain as he buckled to the floor. Dominit took his left knee and drove it straight into his face knocking the king¡¯s head and body to the floor and making his eyes water. He then followed up by grabbing the king¡¯s right arm flipping him onto his stomach and bending it backwards with his foot holding the upper arm down. Everyone heard a loud snap and a low loud scream emanate from his kingly lips. Deciding to finish this bout Dominit proceeded to slam the king¡¯s head into the floor until he was knocked unconscious. This took place in less than a minute as Dominit had unceremoniously attacked while he was distracted and broken a few of his appendages viscously before finally silencing his yells of pain. He sat on the kings back and drew one of his daggers holding it to the back of the king¡¯s throat threateningly. Cassandra¡¯s mother shouted for him to stop. He looked up at the shocked women and smiled coldly. ¡°Give me one good reason to let him live.¡± Emma fell to her knees and begged him to forgive the king. Cassy was in a daze and just stared at him. Her mother started to cry. ¡°Please no don¡¯t kill him. I¡¯ll give you anything you want really anything name it and it¡¯s yours.¡± He stayed on top of him and looked over a Cassandra. ¡°Hey Cassy what do you think is the proper price for a kings head?¡± She seemed to wake up upon hearing his voice. ¡°Please no don¡¯t kill him I know what he did to you was horrible but he didn¡¯t kill you.¡± Dominit shook his head slightly ¡°I asked you what a king¡¯s head was worth Cassy come on think hard.¡± She racked her brain to try and figure out what was her father worth to him. ¡°A fortune at the very least. We could provide for you for the rest of your life if you spared him. Dominit looked sad that was the best she could come up with and got off her father. He began to walk toward her. ¡°Really you could provide for me. I¡¯m guessing you would need me to stay in this city to do such a thing. But what¡¯s stopping your father from coming after my head once he¡¯s up and walking again?¡± The girls thought for a moment ¡°His word and honor. You would have his word and ours that we will not pursue you for what¡¯s happened here.¡± After Cassandra¡¯s mother said this he looked toward Emma. ¡°Do you remember those bandits in the woods about a month ago? How what they were going to do to you? Luckily for you I happened to pass by saving your life. Do you remember what you were going to do after I left the leader alive for you?¡± She nodded slowly. ¡°Good. You see she was going to let him live because her honor dictated she was above killing someone who could no longer fight back. As for me I killed him after I saw she was going to let him survive. Why in the gods name would you let a potential threat live?¡± They all shook their heads not understanding the question fully. ¡°You don¡¯t that¡¯s the point. As someone who has the princess of this country bound to him and beat the king to a pulp do you think he¡¯d allow his honor to leave me alone?¡± They began to look away from him. ¡°I thought not.¡± He sheathed his dagger and then began to walk towards the door. ¡°Cassy how about you show me the way out as thanks for letting your father live.¡± She numbly nodded and followed him out taking the lead. Emma looked towards the queen and whispered ¡°I tried to warn you. He¡¯s not some nobody you want to have against you. He snuck into the royal treasury unnoticed and then made his way back here. If he was a serious threat or hired to assassinate royalty there would be very little to stop him. My opinion your highness I would suggest trying to re-building a bridge between him and our kingdom. After how much pain you put him through however we may be burnt for good.¡± Cassy had just taken Dominit out the front of the palace and he was beginning to leave when they heard shouts behind them. ¡°Guards do not let him leave!¡± Dominit spun and whipped his daggers out to prepare for a fight. A group of ten guards surrounded him and leveled their spears at his chest. The queen walked out of the palace towards him and passed through the ring of guards. She then bowed in front of everyone present to him. ¡°I am truly sorry for everything we have put you through" "I am also thankful to you for saving my daughter. I was given a bit of council by Emma as you left and will heed her words. I would like to make reparations for everything that has happened to you while being our guest. As well as make an alliance with you.¡± Still holding his daggers out ¡°What do you mean alliance and what could you have that would make up for being treated as I have?¡± She finished her bow and explained that the skills he¡¯d shown would be perfect for him to make a career out of assassinations. His grudge against their kingdom would also give him an extra reason to want to take contracts against the people of Blazen. He assured her the people of would be quite safe from him. The royal family however would be a different story if enough money was provided. The guards prepared to attack after hearing his open hostility to their queen when she held up her hand ¡°I understand but please give us a second chance.¡± He may have acted rash but after he was punched he just wanted to show his highness what it felt like to be beaten when words may have worked better. So he shrugged showing he¡¯d be open to the idea. After all there is nothing worse than having an entire kingdom hunting you if it only stayed confined to one and didn''t spread. ¡°Oh thank you so much. As for the reparations I can¡¯t think of anything that you could want. As you were inside of the royal treasury and only retrieved your personal items showing you have little to no interest in gold. The only thing I can think of is to give you my daughter. As she can¡¯t leave your side either I believe that this would kill two birds with one stone as they say.¡± Cassandra looked at her for a moment and then back to Dominit almost hopeful. ¡°I have no need of your daughter as that would just give his royal highness another reason to come after me.¡± Cassandra¡¯s head slumped downward ¡°I believe it would give me a good reason to stay his hand when it comes to you. As well as free my daughter from the fate of a political marriage. She has wanted to avoid that since she was a child.¡± Cassandra looked back to her mother with a small smile showing what she had said was true. ¡°Please consider this an act of trust so that we may earn yours one day.¡± Dominit seemed to be thinking about it before he nodded. It was true Cassy might die should he be too far away that would defeat the whole purpose of saving her and he didn¡¯t know much about the world. Not to mention having a royal princess would help people take him seriously. But then there would be those who would try to steal her from her. Either nobles looking to get a quick rise to fame. "Urgh so many pro''s and con''s to go through. It would be slightly lonely while looking for my family" he looked back to the queen. "Ok I¡¯ll take her with me. Can you answer one question before I go?" She nodded "I know that the heroes have been summoned recently. Where are they currently and where are they going to stay there for the foreseeable future?" She nodded and said yes they would be in Ilada for two years in fact the only reason that she and her husband didn''t have them in tow was because they told them they''d train together. She now had to work at getting the masters of her land to travel to the city of heroes to train them. Dominit thanked her for the information and beckoned for Cassandra to come with him. As he turned around a guard came running towards the queen giving her a two small packs. Cassandra hugged her mother and walked to Dominit''s side. They left the palace to begin their journey towards Ilada. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 12 Having made it out of the city of Fierane Dominit and Cassandra went along the oasis roads heading back north towards the Rangon forest. The forest separates all the regions form each other. It¡¯s almost like it was created in a massive circle or square around Ilada to act as a natural wall. The safest way to get through it is to form a caravan and make your way through the forest¡¯s roads. The best places to find a caravan is on the towns near the outskirts of the forest. Taking two weeks to traverse the desert again finally reaching the town of Loeden where they had first visited to stock up on supplies after leaving the forest. The travel was uneventful and very awkward as neither one knew what to talk about. After the events of the castle neither knew how to approach the other. They slowly got over it and managed to make some small talk but nothing to in depth about the other. Reaching Loeden they started looking for any groups that would be passing through to join on their way to Ilada. They found a few groups had already passed and only one group had yet to leave. They were still looking for a few members to fill out their guards before braving the monster and slaver infested forest. They approached an inn where they¡¯d heard the merchant in charge of the caravan was staying. He was a small old man with mouse ears and tail. He was blind in one eye and the other was an icy blue. He seemed annoyed by something as they approached. ¡°Excuse me sir¡± Cassy decided to be the spokesperson for both of them He glances at her for a moment. ¡°What? What do you want?¡± She bow¡¯s slightly to him. ¡°We¡¯d heard you were still recruiting guards for your caravan. We are traveling to Ilada and would like to offer our services in protecting you and your goods.¡± She gave him a charming smile which got his attention. He coughed twice and began to pay her more attention. ¡°Yes we are currently hiring but how can you guarantee you two are worth the money I¡¯d be giving you to protect my goods?¡± She held her hand up to give her a moment and began looking through her bag. She took out a folded piece of paper and handed it to him. He took it and unfolded the paper as he read it his mouth slowly hung open. By the time he finished reading it looked like he might start catching flies. ¡°I see ahem you have quite the qualifications here. Alright feel free to join us after you sign the necessary paper work.¡± Half an hour later after Cassy negotiating a proper wage for the two she thanked him and the two rented a room for four days as they waited for more people to apply for the caravan. They were notified after two days that all the spots for the caravan had been filled. It would leave the next morning so Cassy went and collected the price for the extra night in the inn. Cassy was stationed in the front carriage while Dominit was tasked with scouting a head of the group to watch the forest for any signs of ambushes. Cassy was given a place to sit inside the carriage to help protect her as her mysterious paper had gotten her very special treatment. Dominit had guessed it was a letter from her mother to help with any diplomatic difficulties they may come across. Which made Dominit happy he¡¯d chosen to let his anger with her parents not dominate his mind. It never hurts to have an ally who owes you. They were expecting a few monsters to cross their paths as well as bandits to try and hit them. For a better part of the journey absolutely nothing happened which caused all the veteran guards to grow more worried. Either a massive force was coming to engage them or something worse had happened. An hour after the halfway point in the forest they came across something worrying. In the middle of the road was a blood bath. Several carriages were on their sides and the ground was covered in blood and bodies. Dominit had scanned well ahead of his group not finding any enemies lying in wait for them he returned to inform them of what he found. They all carefully approached the scene. Slowly they moved the carriages and bodies out of the road. One of the guards noticed something further ahead. There were flags planted ahead of the battle¡¯s aftermath. The flag itself was a field of purple with a black sun in the center. Many of the travellers began to panic upon seeing the flags lining the road wanting to turn back or even run off into the woods anywhere but close to them. Dominit not understanding what the flag meant asked Cassy when he grouped back up with her. Her voice was shaken when she answered ¡°That¡¯s the symbol for the church of the Void. They are the most feared force of zealots our lands have faced. They say that their guardian deity Nyx tasked them with cleaning the world of all life so that there is no more suffering.¡± Dominit was shocked to hear this as Nyx still hadn¡¯t told him about anything like this. He guessed it had something to do with clearing her name. After all it becomes pointless to be the goddess of death if death is non-existent. He¡¯d have to ask her to make sure. It was getting dark and the caravan had pulled the carriages together in a defensive position for the night with guards posted so they could have guards posted at all hours during the night. Before lying down for the night Dominit did one more check around the perimeter. After doing a full circle around the camp he began to head towards his and Cassy¡¯s sleeping area when a falcon flew down and landed on his shoulder.Unauthorized usage: this tale is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Startling Dominit he froze and looked towards the bird. It cocked its head to the side while looking at him and then looking off into the woods. Then flew off in the direction it had just looked. When it saw Dominit hadn¡¯t moved it landed on him again and did the same thing. Realising it wanted him to follow he quickly went to find Cassy to bring her along. She wasn¡¯t too happy with him about it which she made very clear. The bird was still nearby sitting on a branch waiting for him. Seeing Dominit return it fluttered onto his shoulder and kept looking off into the woods. Cassy wasn¡¯t happy she was being lead into the dark woods by a bird but it was either that or pain as Dominit wandered off like a curious idiot. Walking a few minutes they heard a menacing growl come out of a nearby thicket. The falcon screeched and flew towards the growl. A large tiger standing roughly five foot six inches while walk on all fours appeared. It approached both of them and snarled. Cassy slowly slid her sword out of the sheath and Dominit did the same with his daggers. When the falcon landed on its back and screeched again. It looked over its shoulder and growled at the bird when they heard a whistle from inside the thicket the tiger came from. The tiger then started to walk back to where the whistle originated from. Dominit followed curious as to who or what was able to control such a beast. Entering the thicket they saw a person sitting on the ground with their back to a tree. The tiger laid down next to it and nuzzled the person¡¯s legs. ¡°Hi there. I¡¯m sorry for the fright but it¡¯s very difficult to trust people after what happened to those caravans.¡± Said a female voice. Dominit stepped forward and saw in the darkness her left leg was bent at an unnatural angle. ¡°Were you apart of the battle?¡± he asked. She nodded ¡°I was a part of the defense when the ¡°Void¡± came out of nowhere I had Stella here¡± she pointed at the falcon now on her right shoulder ¡°Scouting so it was practically impossible for people to sneak up on us. And Saber here is pretty good at seeing things in the dark as well.¡± ¡°Unfortunately they couldn¡¯t sense them somehow.¡± She frowned and Saber let out a mournful whine. She scratched him behind the ears. ¡°I don¡¯t blame them. It¡¯s obvious they were concealed with magic. Of what kind of I¡¯m not so certain. I sent these two out to try and find someone to help me as I can¡¯t move from here on my own.¡± Cassy came close to her and began inspecting her leg. ¡°I don¡¯t think we can do anything about this now. I¡¯m not a healer but I¡¯ve seen a few of these before back when my parents took me through the healer¡¯s guild as a way to dissuade me from becoming a warrior. The best we can hope for is to carry you back to our caravan and have one of the healers look at it.¡± The woman nodded and tried to rise. Dominit step forward and grabbed her arm steadying her. ¡°It¡¯s probably not the best thing for you to be on your feet limping back. I¡¯ll carry you if that¡¯s all right?¡± She looked at him and said he could. He picked her up in the princess carry trying not to jostle her leg to much and they started back to their camp. Making it back they took her to a healer waking him up and Cassy went to find the mouse merchant in charge to tell him they¡¯d found a survivor of the attacks. She returned with him in tow. He questioned the woman and she told him as much as possible. About their numbers, tactics, if they wanted anything in the caravan, and if anyone else may have survived. She didn¡¯t know how many possibly a hundred maybe more and that they¡¯d only swarmed through killing every one they could find. She escaped before she saw them loot any of the carriages. As for survivors there were hardly ever survivors from a Void attack. The only reasons she¡¯d made it out was because of her animal companions leading her into the forest while distracting the fanatics. She¡¯d spent all of the night before trying to evade them before having falling from a small cliff and landing badly on her leg. Saber had ended up dragging her by her shirt into the thicket they¡¯d found her in. After the healer had set her leg and given her treatment he¡¯d told her she¡¯d need to give it a few days and it¡¯d be as good as new. They couldn¡¯t spare a healing potion for it with the threat of an attack from the Void. She understood and asked if they had a spare tent she could sleep in. They apologized to her. All of the tents were currently occupied. Cassy instantly interjected and offered to share theirs with her. Returning to their tent the girls climbed in with a little difficulty but managed to make it in. There was hardly enough room for all three of them so Dominit chose to sleep out front of the tent. Saber joined him but stayed a few feet away and Stella was nowhere to be seen. The night was uneventful much to everyone¡¯s relief and they continued their journey north. There were no signs of the Void for the rest of the day. Along the journey Cassy became friends with the elven woman whose name they learned was Jaslyn. She was five foot five with long jet black hair loosely braided that reached the middle of her back. She had beautiful amethyst eyes with a tinge of blue that could see through the darkest night and thickest fog. Dominit wasn¡¯t sure if that was an elf trait or if it was because she was a ranger. She had a lean and graceful body while her breasts were roughly similar in size to Cassy¡¯s around C cups. She¡¯d lost her modified long bow in the ambush as well as her quiver. He gave her his bow and arrows so she could defend herself in case of another ambush. As well as one of his two remaining health potions to help her leg heal. She was grateful for everything he gave her. He told her it was alright she was going to be far useful with it than he would. Three days passed with the Dominit and Jaslyn acting as scouts. They began to appreciate on another¡¯s presence as one would watch the others back. During the evening Cassandra and Jaslyn would trade stories about their pasts becoming closer. Dominit was sure it was nice for Cassandra to have a friend who didn¡¯t treat her like royalty. Jaslyn told them about her home where she lived with her boyfriend. She was currently on her way back. They would pass through it on the way to Ilada and she invited them to stop by and spend the night while the caravan stops. They both agreed they¡¯d love to. After the third day they made it to the village of Evebery. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 13 Jaslyn gave Cassandra and Dominit a tour of the small village she made her home. There wasn¡¯t much but it was slowly expanding as one of the nearest villages to the forest. It gave weary travelers a place to rest and gather as well as resupply before trying to cross the forest. Then she led them to her home. It was a quaint one story building with five rooms. A living room where you entered the house. There was a long couch and a couple rocking chairs. A dining room around the corner with a kitchen attached to it. There was a long table in the dining room with six chairs around it. One on each end and two on each side. The kitchen was divided from the dining room by a large stone slab to rest pots and pans after cooking with them. There was a small space in between the slab and the wall allowing one to pass from one room to the other. Pots and pans hung from wooden pegs sticking from the kitchen walls. A few blades and cooking utensils were also being held on the walls. In the center was a cooking pit dug into the ground with stones lining it with a large iron cauldron hanging above it. And a large chilly box of metal in the corner. ¡°No way they have fridges?¡± She explained the box¡¯s inside was enchanted to cool things while the outside was enchanted to ward off heat. Another room was filled with weapons. Jaslyn explained her boyfriend was the village blacksmith. He enjoyed making things so there were always extra weapons that couldn¡¯t be stored at the smithy. The other two rooms were bed rooms although Jaslyn shared a room with her boyfriend she gave the other room to Saber and Stella. Dominit chuckled when he¡¯d heard that. She frowned thinking he was going to tell her what everyone else did that they weren¡¯t humans so quite treating them like it. He just smiled and scratched the massive tiger behind his ear. After finishing the tour she went back to the kitchen to prepare an evening meal for the three of them when the front door was violently thrown open. ¡°Jasy? Sweetheart where are you?¡± It was a lout booming voice and then the man came into view. He was an impressive six foot seven with a military buzz cut of black hair. The peculiar thing was that down the center of his hair was a red stripe. He wasn¡¯t ripped as one would expect from a blacksmith but more of a lean muscle. The kind you¡¯d see an Olympic athlete have suggesting he was far faster than his size led one to believe. He was a Beastkin similar to Cassy but instead of cat ears and tail it was replaced with a dogs. He even had a wild bushy tail which also had the red stripe through it. Seeing Jaslyn he rushed forward and picked her up in a bear hug. Twirling around while dragging her off the ground. ¡°Oh honey I was so worried when your scheduled caravan didn¡¯t come in. I tried to go out and find you put the watchmen wouldn¡¯t let me.¡± She giggled at him and placed her hand on his face. ¡°It¡¯s ok Justin I¡¯m alright thanks to them.¡± He gingerly places her back on the ground and for the first time realizes they weren¡¯t alone. Cassy and Dominit shook his hand when he thanked them for protecting her. Jaslyn then went back to cooking while telling Justin about her harrowing experience. He choked up while listening and hugged her again. He was a gentle giant to her and it was something that reminded Dominit about Matt and Jess which caused a tear to leave his eye that no one saw. Jaslyn took the time after her explanation to chase Justin out of the kitchen and ask Cassy to help prepare the meal. While the two were busy Justin motioned for Dominit to follow him towards the weapon room. After entering the room Justin shut the door and stuck his hand out one more time. ¡°Listen Dominit I don¡¯t know you but I wanted to thank you again for saving my beloved. If anything happened to her I¡¯m don¡¯t sure what I¡¯d do.¡± Dominit smiled and shook his hand. Finishing up with his show of emotion Justin then began to look through the weapon piles that littered the room. ¡°What exactly are you looking for?¡± Justin looked back and said that every good deed show be rewarded. After routing through the pile he produced two strange leather armors one for his thigh and another for his shoulder. He handed them to Dominit. Not knowing what they were for Dominit took them then looked at them strangely. ¡°You¡¯ve got absolutely no idea what I just gave you do you?¡± Dominit coughed and tried to fake it. Justin not buying it explained that they were throwing knife holsters. Each on had ten small leather sheaths attached. ¡°Thank you this will come in handy but I¡¯ll need to buy some throwing knives before it¡¯s going to be too useful. Justin looked at him like he was from another world which of course he was. ¡°No you won¡¯t. This type of holster was created for spell-blades. I¡¯m not much of a leather worker but I traded a man these for a shoddy steel sword he wanted. There are special warriors called spell blades. They are more the stuff of legends now but there used to be tons of them roaming the lands.¡± ¡°You focus your natural magic into the body part these are strapped to and throwing knives will begin to form. No need to buy and restock or try and find blades you sent careening of to gods know where. Although it takes a lot of practice and will tire you out if you can¡¯t maintain a steady flow of mana to keep the knives from dispersing.¡± ¡°Of course if you find a mage who for a price can enchant them to collect natural mana for your surroundings you will never have to worry about it. Or you know you can¡¯t use magic then yeah you¡¯d need it enchanted. Sorry but you can use magic right?¡± Dominit nodded he could. ¡°Ok perfect then you¡¯ll just need to practice. After we eat you can have your lady friend put it on for you.¡±A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation. He smiled as he said the last part which caused Dominit to look at him in a funny manner. ¡°Yeah pretty sure ¡°that¡± is the last thing she¡¯d think of me after what I did to her father.¡± He coughed and they left the room just in time for Jaslyn to small head first into Justin chest. ¡°Ow lunch is ready you two.¡± She said rubbing her forehead. Over the course of the next several hours they began to talk and act as if they¡¯d been friends for a long time who had just been away. As night settled in Jaslyn yawned and told everyone good night while slowly trudging of to her and Justin¡¯s room. ¡°Ha she completely forgot to show you two where you¡¯re going to be sleeping tonight.¡± Justin got up from the table and walked to Saber and Stella¡¯s room. He then changed the bedding to something a little less fur covered before telling them goodnight and walking to his room with Saber in tow. Saber laid down just outside of the door to protect his family from any dangers the night might hold. Cassy closed the door to their room and looked at the bed then to Dominit blushing fiercely. She began to undress and Dominit made for the door telling her he¡¯d sleep on the couch. After opening the door a crack her hand came up and closed it. He turned around to see she¡¯d gotten out of her armor and pants with only white linen underwear and a bra on before coming over to him. ¡°Look we haven¡¯t talked about what happened back at my home at all these past weeks.¡± Dominit scowled ¡°I was hoping we could avoid it for the foreseeable future to but I guess I¡¯m not that lucky.¡± She sighed looked down and took his hand from the door handle taking him towards the bed. ¡°I know it¡¯s not something I want you to relive but I need to tell you something.¡± He nodded and sat next to her on the bed. ¡°In my culture the way to become king is to be the strongest warrior. It isn¡¯t like the other kingdoms where bloodline determines your standing. If someone challenges the current king to a fight or he does them if the king loses the winner has the right to the throne.¡± ¡°Around a three hundred years ago my family was dethroned by a ruthless warlord who only wanted to conquer the four nations. After defeating my great grandfather in unarmed combat he took my great grandmother as his own. She could do nothing as the king¡¯s word was absolute no matter how awful.¡± She motioned to herself. ¡°What you see in me is the drop of blood he put into my family. After my great grandfather killed him by challenging him to a fight to the death. After succeeding he was going to kill the child, my grandfather, which my grandmother had birthed. He stayed his hand only through the counselling of his wife that the babe had done no wrong and that life was too precious to send to the void in such a way.¡± ¡°My grandfather was raised as her own child the king however still felt anger at the child. After a few years he was a big brother. He vowed he¡¯d do everything in his power to keep his little brother alive. Years passed and a great calamity happened. The church of the void attacked with a strength and ferocity the world had never seen.¡± ¡°My grandfather died that day but he died a hero. His wife pregnant at the time stayed with his brother to keep them both safe. That day he¡¯d killed hundreds of enemies that tried to harm his family finally driving them out of Fierane. He succumbed to the wounds he had accumulated through the battle. On his death bed he asked his brother to take care of his wife and child. He promised he would and took his brother¡¯s wife as his queen in name only and child as his heir. That was my father.¡± ¡°Being raised as the son of an unwanted child he was despised by his grandfather. Thus trained to one day be like his real father and become the hero his father had been. After growing up thinking strength was all you needed to live a good life he treated any one he believed weaker than him horribly.¡± My mother saw this and challenged him for the right to rule. She only lost due to falling unconscious a moment before him. Recognizing her strength and will he began to court her showing a much gentler side no one knew about him. And now here I am with the man who by rights should be my ruler as well as my master.¡± She flashes him her seal. ¡°My mother once told me I was very much like her and that strength was one of the most attractive things about my father before getting to know him. I now understand a little of what she meant. After you saved me I guessed you were just a deserter but you saved me.¡± ¡°Emma told me about how you saved her as well. Coupled together with defeating the strongest person in all of Blazen in less than a minute. My heart couldn¡¯t handle what I had seen. Now I know after weeks of deciding and those days we spent with Jasy confirmed how I feel about you.¡± ¡°I¡¯m not sure if it¡¯s love or not but I¡¯m interested in you. The thought of you being with someone else drives me crazy.¡± She stands up from the bed and begins to grow louder. ¡°The time you spent alone in the woods with Jasy I was afraid you¡¯d grow away from me and only see me as a burden. Knowing now how much they care about each other gives me this chance. Please would you consider dating me?¡± She bow and blushes as she finishes. Before Dominit could respond he heard a voice at the door. ¡°Well are you going to say yes or have her stand there like an idiot?¡± Cassy spun around embarrassed. ¡°Jasy I thought I said you couldn¡¯t listen in?¡± ¡°Sorry Cassy but it¡¯s hard not to when your shouting that loud.¡± They heard her laugh and then her footsteps recede from the door. Dominit looked at Cassy now to embarrassed to face him. He got up and turned her around, she was as red as a fire. ¡°Yes we can give it a try if you¡¯d like¡± She looked up at him with a cute smile and walked back to the bed sliding under the covers looking at him expectantly. He sighed and began to remove his armor and cloak. He was surprised to find a chiselled and tone body where once there was nothing but flab. Guessing it had something to do with his extensive training in Nyx¡¯s domain he now proudly flaunted his body putting out the torch on the wall and getting in to bed next to Cassy. She snuggled up to him much like their first night together. They sighed together and slept. Or at least Dominit wanted to but for some reason having a beautiful half naked woman laying her head on your chest wouldn¡¯t let him fall asleep. A few hours passed he heard the smooth deep breathes she took and a few sniffs. He was just going to chalk that up to a Beastkin thing with smells. As he faded into sleep he smiled. Unsure of how much time had passed before he awoke with a start. He felt chills going up and down his spine. Carefully extracting himself from Cassy who in her sleep was now hugging him he began to put his armor and weapons on. He crept from the bedroom and began to look around the house for anything amiss. He saw Saber still lying in front of Jasy¡¯s bedroom with his ears moving at the slightest noise. Not a moment after Dominit entered the living room and looked out the door he saw shadows moving along the walls of buildings. He saw one shadow carrying a banner and it was one he¡¯d seen recently. Realizing what has happening he began to shout at the top of his lunges ¡°WE¡¯RE UNDER ATTACK! IT¡¯S THE VOID! THE VOID ARE HERE!!!¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 14 Dominit yelled back into the house to rouse his companions before running towards the shadowy invaders. Unsheathing his daggers from behind his back he held both in an inverted grip and slid between the legs of an attacker stabbing backwards through his knees. He fell and howled in pain for only a second as he pierced the man¡¯s skull. Hearing the screams of several women to the center of town Dominit took off at full speed. Rounding the corner of a building he saw many men and women were being dragged from their homes and executed on the street. There were twenty enemies in groups of five in the center of town going from home to home. Dominit rushed to the nearest group and attacked. Having the element of surprise he eliminated three of them without as much as a scream. The last two holding a women by her arms waiting for one of their comrades to kill her were surprised when they were the ones clutching their throats as they bleed profusely. Helping the woman to her feet and giving her a weapon from one of the dead Void¡¯s he told her to run the direction he¡¯d come from there would be people coming soon. As he said this the other three groups noticed him and what he¡¯d done. They converged hoping to surround him and end him without losing any more men. They were sent into a panic as Saber the massive tiger leapt from a nearby roof top and took three Void¡¯s with him to the ground. Before the others could attack arrows began to sprout from their chests. Jaslyn was on the same rooftop Saber had been on a moment ago unleashing arrow after deadly arrow into the crowd of Void¡¯s with impeccable aim. She, Saber and Dominit cleaned up the rest of the overwhelmed Voids. When she came jumping from the rooftop her foot caught on a loose tile and came tumbling towards the ground. Dominit without a single thought about what had happened was already moving to catch her. When he did so she thanked him and he put her down. ¡°Where¡¯s Justin and Cassy?¡± Jaslyn pointed back to her house. ¡°I don¡¯t need much time to get ready for battle just a bow and some arrows. Justin and Cassy on the other hand need to don their armor or they might die.¡± He nodded and told her to gather up the survivors and take them somewhere safe as he didn¡¯t know the town like she did. She did as she was instructed and Saber took off behind her. She turned around and shouted ¡°I¡¯ll leave Stella in your hands be good to her or else.¡± Upon her finishing what she was saying Stella swooped down and landed on Dominit¡¯s shoulder with a strange gem in her beak. She spat it out and Dominit caught it. As soon as he did however he heard a woman¡¯s voice. ¡°Hello master I am the one called Stella. I will be in your care for the time being please treat me well.¡± Dominit froze and looked at the falcon sitting on his shoulder. ¡°Ok. The fuck?¡± ¡°Nice to meet you officially Stella. Think you could provide aerial support and update me on the enemies¡¯ whereabouts and any people who are in danger?¡± She bowed her head and took flight high into the night sky. ¡°Master I see four of these black clothed people trying to surround my lady Jaslyn could you please assist?¡± ¡°I¡¯m on my way Stella. Where is she?¡± ¡°She is currently three buildings north of you rounding up any who can fight to protect those who can¡¯t. The black people are trying to get a height advantage with their bows on the surrounding buildings.¡± Dominit started north. Farther away from where Justin and Cassy would be coming from but he was needed. He found Jaslyn exactly where Stella said she¡¯d be and was putting up a great resistance. Seeing the shadows on top of the building Dominit prepared to shadow walk into the nearest wall. Popping out right behind the furthest one he stabbed the woman in her chest hoping he¡¯d hit her heart but from the sound of the gurgling coming from her it was the lungs. He picked up the short bow she¡¯d dropped and quiver of arrows and began aiming for the others on his level. Taking his time as he wasn¡¯t the crack-shot Jaslyn was he still managed to kill two more before they could loose any arrows into the defending forces back side. The last member on the rooftops managed to kill a man running away from the battle drawing her attention. Before she could reacquire a target Dominit brought her down. Once the nuisances up high were dealt with Dominit looked down to see how the battle was doing. Currently they were losing. Jaslyn had grouped a good forty or fifty people up and got over half of them to fight but a force of twenty five novice warriors against those whose whole religion was to slaughter every one indiscriminately they were hopelessly out matched.Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions. That was of course until Jaslyn was cut in the right arm. People began to lose hope if the only person giving them orders was taken from them they¡¯d have no hope. Many prepared to run if things got any worse then a loud roar came from behind the enemy lines and there stood Justin and Cassy. Cassy was dressed in leather armor with a sword and small buckler. Justin on the other hand was wearing chainmail chest armor with leather pants opting for more mobility with his legs. A helmet with devil horns and a smiling devil¡¯s face made from some material Dominit had never seen as the metal helmet was black as obsidian and the face mask as red a blood. On one shoulder he had a large shoulder armor with many spikes sticking out of it meant for ramming straight into his enemies. The most intimidating thing was the weapon he held. It was a massive seven foot long halberd. A massive crescent moon axe head on one edge on the other a nine inch long curved blade almost like a dagger meant for stabbing on the backswing. The top and bottom also had sharp spikes honed and polished. Just like his helm and hair the metal shaft of the axe was black while the blades were red. Seeing Jaslyn injured he¡¯d roared and began to sprint dead long into the group of over one hundred enemies without a second thought. Dominit watched in awe as he began to wade through them like they were nothing more than insects that needed to be swept aside. The ground quickly became covered in blood making the fight more dangerous for the large group and seemed like Justin grew faster and stronger while fighting in it. Trying to salvage the situation many of the Void attacked him but for every wound they inflicted on him he dished out two or more and most of the time all lethal. Dominit also saw one stab him straight through the chest where his heart was. Before anyone could scream out in terror of this monster savour he laughed and puled the two foot sword from his chest and threw it back at the one who¡¯d impaled him with it. Seeing that nothing they did affected this monster the church of the Void let out a signal to retreat. They never made it twenty feet away. While Justin took all of their attention Cassandra had followed up with the distraction killing many on her own. As they ran however Justin and Cassandra were practically useless. If they gave chase there was always a chance they¡¯d be ambushed. Jaslyn and Dominit took care of the runners. Dominit threw his quiver to Jaslyn and jumped from the rooftop. Just before landing in an ally away from view of the others he shadow walked and came out of a wall in the ally the Void members chose as their escape point. As arrows came careening in from around the corner killing any who couldn¡¯t make it in they saw a figure appear a head of them seemingly from nowhere. ¡°You idiots chose the wrong place.¡± He then began to stab, slash, cut, and bleed them in the narrow alley. Only one could face him at a time and if there was anything Dominit excelled at was fighting one slow moron. Seeing their comrades¡¯ further ahead being slaughtered the ones in the back began to scream in terror as a shadowed monster tore the flesh from them. Everyone back with Jaslyn, Justin, and Cassy couldn¡¯t make out what was happening. All they heard was the screaming. After a minute only a few screams remained and they were getting closer. Jaslyn raised her bow thinking a new threat was here. Three people from the Void ran out of the alley back to Jaslyn¡¯s group begging for mercy. Everyone was shocked as no one had ever heard of the Void¡¯s minions begging for mercy since death was what they all wanted. Before anyone could decide what to do two knives came careening out of the alley hitting the furthest of the runners while the one in behind just ran past their dead bodies. Jaslyn took aim with her bow but was too late as a shadow flew from the same alley and was upon him killing him. Every one gathered their weapons preparing for a fight when Jaslyn spoke up. ¡°How in gods¡¯ name did you do that?¡± Dominit rose from the body and began collecting his others daggers and cleaning them. He shrugged and smiled which seemed ice cold with the blood covering his mouth and body. ¡°A magician never reveals his secrets my dear.¡± Everyone else was confused as they didn¡¯t know what Jaslyn meant. ¡°Haha seriously. You just dropped me your arrows and the next thing we hear is them screaming. Not a minute after you¡¯re there cleaning them up.¡± He kept his smile but stayed silent. ¡°Master I have confirmed that no other intruders remain in town¡± Dominit visibly flinched before responding ¡°Ok first off warn me you can talk to me in my mind because that¡¯s a little freaky and god job.¡± ¡°Of course master my apologies and thank you for your praise.¡± Stella suddenly flew down and landed on Jaslyn¡¯s shoulder. ¡°Hi sweetheart did Dominit take care of you?¡± The bird didn¡¯t respond in any visible way but Jaslyn laughed. ¡°Good he kept you out of harm¡¯s way and feeding him information that¡¯s smart.¡± Everyone around her didn¡¯t respond to her talking to the bird not as if they knew they could communicate but because they¡¯d accepted this crazy side of her. Daylight soon crept over the village. Knights from a nearby outpost soon after. They¡¯d received a warning from their oracle that an attack on this village was imminent. They tried to convince people to leave when they first arrived not noticing the clear signs of battle before the village chief told them it was already over. The knights seemed confused after hearing this. Of all the places attacked by the Void none stood unless they were a large city that had walls and months¡¯ worth of supplies to outlast them. After telling the knights the story of events that had transpired they looked in awe towards the small group relaxing on a broken wagon. That was the first tale of Jaslyn¡¯s Chaos Breakers. With Jaslyn the Beast Master. The Undying Berserk Justin, the Princess Knight Cassandra and a mystery fourth man. No one knew what his name was all the only word they heard about him was ¡°Shadow¡±. Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 15 Everyone gathered in the center of town to assess the damage done to the buildings during the fighting. Some Void members had taken the opportunity to set fire to several different buildings. With most houses being made from wood and built close to one another the fire had spread but was manageable when the knights arrived with a water mage. Jaslyn and Justin¡¯s home caught fire shortly after Justin and Cassandra had left. Being the last structure to be taken care of it was mostly ruined the only thing left standing was the metal box in the kitchen as it¡¯s outside was enchanted to ward off heat. Saddened by this Jaslyn was quiet for most of the day following the attack only talking to Saber and Stella. Everyone including Justin gave her space but Dominit had to ask about Stella¡¯s stone he still had. ¡°Jaslyn?¡± She didn¡¯t look at him or give any indication she¡¯d heard him. Stella jumped from her shoulder to his making her look confused to where Stella went. Seeing Dominit she nodded at him and looked back at Saber. ¡°Jaslyn I¡¯m sorry about your house¡± She looked at Dominit again with a sad smile. ¡°It¡¯s ok I guess. It¡¯s better a house than people.¡± He nodded and walked closer to her. He took out the gem and began to pass it to her. ¡°No no you should keep that. Not many people know about it.¡± He put it into his inside shirt pocket. ¡°What exactly is it?¡± She seemed slightly surprised ¡°You don¡¯t know? It¡¯s a soul gem. Beasts who trust and care for a human can separate a portion of their soul and use it to talk to and be closer with the person they entrust it too.¡± ¡°Then why did Stella give it to me and not to you?¡± Dominit was confused as to why a falcon who¡¯d only know him for a few days. Jaslyn told him she was a special circumstance. For almost everyone in the world they need to have soul gem to communicate with beasts. She was a special exception that was incredibly rare. So rare that many people would try to enslave her for her power. The main reason Stella gave her soul gem to Dominit was because Jaslyn had strongly suggested she do so. She had a feeling she¡¯d spend a lot of time with him and giving him a way to talk to one another through Stella would help. Little did she know it would save her with Stella sending an S.O.S having him take out the archers behind her. Dominit hadn¡¯t told her any of this but Stella chose to share the fact she owed Dominit her life twice now not that he was counting. She had him keep it as a reward to him as well as Stella taking a liking to him. After having talked with Jaslyn for a bit she seemed to perk up a little and began acknowledging those who¡¯d walked past thanking her for saving them and their families. Justin saw Dominit and her talking and left them be until Dominit began to walk off. As he left her line of sight Dominit ran head first into Justin. He rubbed his nose and looked up. ¡°Hey Justin how are you holding up?¡± He stared at Dominit and then said he was fine then asked about Jaslyn. ¡°I think she¡¯s feeling pretty bad about your house burning. I¡¯d suggest you go talk to her man. I know that there¡¯s a lot to do around here but she needs you.¡± Dominit patted him on the shoulder and walked past him. Justin had a dumbfounded look on his face. He was going to let Dominit know that Jaslyn was his and to watch it but he¡¯d just treated him with sympathy and advice. Dominit decided it was time to use his call feature so he wandered off into the woods on the pretense of lookout. Situating himself in a tree with plenty of leaves surrounding him hi tried to make a call. ¡°Hey Nyx you there?¡± No response. Dominit was a little worried that he sent that to Stella but it felt a little different. ¡°Umm hello Dominit can you hear me? I¡¯ve never used this before so there might be some issues.¡± ¡°No I can hear you fine¡± ¡°Ok than what can I do you for you?¡± ¡°I just had a run in with your underlings anything you want to explain like clearing your name and all that?¡± ¡°Oh wow you get straight to business don¡¯t you? I expected you to try and fight them much later.¡± ¡°Yeah great happy I impressed you but how about some info?¡± ¡°Wow aren¡¯t you grumpy. Fine then I¡¯ll give you the spark notes.¡± Dominit stopped for a moment ¡°Have you ever been to my world or you know looked around at it?¡± ¡°Hmmmm nope none of us have.¡± Dominit was a little startled with that information as this world most definitely didn¡¯t have the internet and spark notes. He put that to the back of his mind right then as he needed to get information to survive not who Nyx might really be. She then told him about how nine hundred years ago the head of the church of the Void made a decree that was supposedly from their god to ¡°help¡± everyone by ending their suffering and sending them to the Void. Taking to the new decree with fervor they began to slaughter everyone they came across. They used to be a respected part of all four kingdoms. The god was prayed to before wars and if any catastrophes occurred for loved ones to be given more time. The churches were basically morgues, funeral homes, and graveyards. They were in every city and town once the decree came down they swarmed from the temples. No one was prepared for the quiet grave keepers to turn on them. It was horrendous in the first hundred years most of the population was reduced from seven million down to one million. As the years progressed kingdoms came together to combat the zealots. As of now the people of Luetania are in the best spot since the day the Voids attacked. So far it was good Dominit had not let anyone know he was summoned by Nyx or he¡¯d most likely have been killed in a horrific way to get revenge on the supposed Goddess of Death and Darkness. She gave him a hearty good job cheer for keeping his mouth shut. After the brief but useful history lesson he asked about Jaslyn and Justin as he was pretty sure people who had their abilities weren¡¯t normal even for this world. Nyx agreed saying a ¡°Beast Master¡± was incredibly rare find and to make sure she was a part of my future group. As for the wolfkin she was fairly certain no one had even been able to survive a blade through the heart before and to make him a friend. Dominit rolled his eyes as he was already trying since they seemed nice and wouldn¡¯t easily betray him as he saved Jaslyn. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. He asked one more question before growing tired of their conversation. ¡°If I walked into these Void guys and told them who and what I am wouldn¡¯t they listen to me being your champion and all that?¡± She thought about and told him that he wasn¡¯t that lucky. Since she¡¯d tried to stop the church herself before they called her and anything she stood for an evil deception created to fool them all. He said good bye to Nyx and closed their connection. ¡°Great so literally everyone want¡¯s my head on a damn platter. Well not everyone I guess.¡± As he looked down and saw Jaslyn, Justin, and Cassandra tracking something or someone. He stayed in cover trying to see what they were up to when Stella barged into his mind. ¡°Master if you¡¯d be so kind as to come out of hiding It would be most appreciated. They can only track you so far and I can¡¯t find you either.¡± He smiled not realizing he¡¯d been that well-hidden that a falcon couldn¡¯t find him. He quietly dropped from the tree they¡¯d passed and snuck up behind them joining them on their search. ¡°I¡¯m telling you his footprints lead out here and Saber says he saw Dominit not long ago disappear in this direction.¡± Jaslyn was a little flustered. ¡°Yeah I agree sweetie I can still smell him he must¡¯ve passed through here not long ago¡± Justin added. ¡°So you guys were looking for me huh?¡± As Dominit startled the three of them and they all began to pull out their weapons. Dominit just began to laugh at their reactions. ¡°Hey come one man that¡¯s not funny if you were a void I¡¯d have skewered you.¡± Justin was a little upset he¡¯d been snuck up on even with his nose. Jaslyn and Cassandra realizing it was him lowered their weapons and looked down sheepishly not believing all of them had just been caught unaware. ¡°Haha don¡¯t worry too much about it if any voids try to sneak up on us I¡¯ll see em coming.¡± Still chuckling Dominit tried to reassure his friends. ¡°So what¡¯s with the tracking me down?¡± Jaslyn stepped forward and threw an arm around his neck. ¡°Well sneaky Pete we¡¯ve been talking while you¡¯ve been out here for four hours.¡± ¡°Four hours what the hell it only felt like thirty minutes.¡± ¡°We decided since we don¡¯t have much keeping us here in the village any more we¡¯d maybe go for a bit of travel.¡± Cassandra stepped forward to voice her opinion as well. ¡°Since we¡¯ve gotten along so well I asked them if they wanted to accompany us on our journey to Ilada.¡± Justin nodded behind her and Jaslyn was still right next to him. ¡°So what do you think want a few extra pals and weapons helping you on your travels? At least for the time being anyway? Justin and I don¡¯t know if we¡¯ll try to settle down again.¡± Dominit thought for a minute and remembered what Nyx said about the two. ¡°Yeah that sounds like a good idea having more people makes everything easier.¡± Jaslyn and Cassandra high fived and Justin clapped Dominit on the back. ¡°Wait what¡¯s with those responses it¡¯s not like you need my permission or anything to come with us?¡± Jaslyn and Justin looked at Cassandra for a moment and looked away very quickly. Jaslyn began to blush Justin kept a good poker face but had started whistling for some reason. ¡°Damn it you told them didn¡¯t you Cassy?¡± She looked up in fright and began trying to apologize because she hadn¡¯t had real friends in so long besides Emma she wasn¡¯t sure what to hold back and what to tell. She came up close to him and kept apologizing thinking he was angry with her for telling what was both their secret to keep. He hugged her while she was grasping his leather vest. ¡°Ha ha would you relax a little? I¡¯m not angry in fact my question still stands. Just because of ¡°that¡± doesn¡¯t mean I¡¯m in charge of you or us as a group.¡± Justin¡¯s head swiveled to look at him. ¡°When I overheard Cassandra talking about how she was your slave and a princess at that I was ready to kill you earlier. In fact that¡¯s what this whole hunt for you started out as. Thankfully Cassandra cleared up most of our questions about how that had happened to her and that you actually saved her.¡± Dominit bowed slightly and smirked at him. ¡°I¡¯m nothing but a saint my good man.¡± Justin frowned slightly and then laughed. ¡°Saint my ass after what you did to those shits in the alley. We went in there afterwards to find out what had happened it was a bloody mess.¡± Once again Dominit shrugged. ¡°I¡¯m not one for attention I guess. It¡¯s not like I ran into seventy people and began ripping them apart. I like to do my ¡°job¡± where no prying eyes can see what¡¯s going on." They began to walk back and talk about what the others had done in last night¡¯s fight. Jaslyn made an amazing commander to rally so many villagers who had no training to fight. Justin was a menacing machine of death and destruction. Cassandra was busy keeping the back line of combatants focused on her and not Justin giving him more time and space to wreak havoc. As for Dominit Jaslyn said she wasn¡¯t sure where he was when he¡¯d first entered the fight saving villagers. One second a woman was going to die and the next a group of five were dying quickly without knowing much. After he and her gathered up and began gathering villagers she didn¡¯t know about the enemy on the rooftop until an arrow killed a deserting villager. She was about to deal with it when she saw a few dead archers lying on other rooftops. Only after he¡¯d tossed her the arrows did she know it was him not even thirty seconds later as she fired at the retreating enemies they began to run back from the alley screaming for mercy. She knew at that moment the one person you probably didn¡¯t want to make angry out of the four of them was him. Justin would just bull rush right at you. Cassandra would have the help of royalty behind her. As for Jaslyn herself she could have animals end the lives of anyone who wronged her. Sure they were all terrifying but could be fought against. But to be killed by a shadow in the dead of night or day for that matter as he¡¯d just shown his ability to remain undetected. He was a true ¡°Shadow¡± never could his enemies know when their time had come. It would be over before anyone would know. Reaching the village they all walked to the remains of her house and began taking anything of value for their journey. After packing up a few cooking utensils, blankets, pillows, and weapons from the weapon room they were all packed and ready to go. They were about to head out when the old caravan master came running to them. Most of his guards had been a small part of the reason they were all still breathing. Fighting the Void¡¯s in another part of the village to split them up. A few of the guards were heavily injured but would survive with their healer. He offered them a job continuing with him as the attack had forced him to change plans. If he stayed on course for Ilada then he¡¯d get market value for his goods and potions. However if he sold around the outskirts where other towns and villages were attacked then he could sell them for more as demand rose. The group wasn¡¯t sure but Dominit took Jaslyn to the side. After a brief conversation with the merchant still waiting Jaslyn brought forth conditions. ¡°First we are all a team. We reserve the right to leave you at any point in time. We aren¡¯t obligated to follow you until a certain point.¡± He nodded vigorously showing he was desperate for more capable warriors. ¡°Second we will be paid a lump sum upon completion of our ¡°work¡± and you will provide necessary needs such as food, water, medical assistance should one of us be injured, and a place to sleep. Thirdly and lastly you will come to me with any issues you have with us as from this moment forward we are a guild. We will be called The Chaos Breakers.¡± Proudly ending the negotiations to which the merchant agreed to Dominit face palmed so hard it looked like he was fighting an annoying bug that he¡¯d finally caught. Cassandra was jumping up and down excited to be a part of a guild as it was one of her dreams. Justin didn¡¯t seem to care as long as he and Jaslyn were together. Dominit on the other hand was stunned. ¡°God damn it Jasy. What the fuck was that? It was so embarrassing listening to. I didn¡¯t even say that third thing either. Fuck me man. Oh well maybe it¡¯s a good way to get some money to help me get to my family.¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 16 They spent the next few days and nights traveling around the outskirts of the Rangon forest visiting a few villages. The merchant sold many of his wares and the trip had a few bumps in it. They were attacked a by bandits once or twice but whenever a large force gathered to attack them Dominit sent word to get ready through Stella to Jaslyn. Before they got in range he was slowly cleaning out those in the back of the group. So when the bandits did the whole ¡°Leave your stuff and we¡¯ll let you live¡± stuff and then threatened them with more men he didn¡¯t have to many extra waiting for his signal. They¡¯d be finished off and the journey would continue. Word quickly spread of a wraith that would kill any would be thieves or bandits along the road. Or that this one caravan had a demon watching over it. Either way after three attacks there was no sign of any more bandits. The group made it to a village to the north west of the city Ilada. It was in between the dwarves to the north and elves to the east. After arriving they heard a strange rumor of people disappearing from their homes all around them. Jaslyn growing bored of the monotonous caravan wanted a break from the nothingness that she¡¯d been on lookout for. She began asking everyone she came across to see if anyone had more information about the missing people. She had too much information to sort through so she decided to bring Dominit along to help her out. Eventually he managed to piece together that it was somewhere further north-west in the Rangon forest. Jaslyn gathered them all together at a local pub for a meal and began to tell them about what she wanted to do. ¡°So we¡¯re a team now right?¡± Cassandra nodded for everyone. ¡°Good. I¡¯ve got a plan to help get our name out there.¡± She beams a smile at them. ¡°It¡¯s simple we go and find these missing people.¡± ¡°It¡¯s strange I doubt it¡¯s supremacy as every type of race has gone missing but mostly humans. As for the Void¡¯s they don¡¯t need people alive so what¡¯s really going on?¡± Cassandra shakes her head not knowing. Justin does the same but Dominit speaks up. ¡°Let me guess we¡¯re going to find out though aren¡¯t we?¡± She starts nodding still smiling. ¡°That¡¯s right we are going to.¡± As they are talking the mouse merchant they¡¯ve been working for who they found outs name is Sven comes in. Jaslyn waves at him to get his attention ¡°Sven can we talk to you for a moment?¡± He walks over to his new favorite team of mercenaries or adventurers as Jaslyn called them. ¡°What can I do for you missy?¡± He leans onto the table they are sitting at which is up to his chest. She explains that they are going to investigate the rumors of people going missing. He shakes his head and tells her if they do he wouldn¡¯t be able to wait for them. He¡¯d leave in a day or two and what they were going to do would take a lot longer. He was sad to see them go but was sure that if anyone could get answers then they¡¯d be one of the best to do it. He left them for a moment and went back to his caravan. He came back carrying a large sack of coins. ¡°You four have been the best group of guards I¡¯ve seen in my career. If you need a job again for some coin I¡¯d be happy to provide it for you.¡± He dropped the sack of coins on the table. Jaslyn and Cassandra gasped Justin almost fell back in his chair. Dominit wasn¡¯t sure what was going on. ¡°Don¡¯t think me a fool now. I know the only reason we had such a comfortable journey thus far was because of that one.¡± He points at Dominit. ¡°I know you gave us a heads up when we were coming up on bandits but I didn¡¯t ever say anything about taking out a group of them before we fought.¡± Dominit shrugged and looked closer at the bag. There was mostly silver in it but there were several gold coins. Jaslyn tried to push the bag back to him. ¡°No we may have done a very good job but for there to be this much gold you must have grabbed the wrong coins please go and take them out.¡± Sven chuckled ¡°No missy I¡¯m very good at deciding what things are worth. For you three.¡± He nods to Cassandra, Justin, and Jaslyn ¡°If I were to hire all of you for one trip I¡¯d say it would be a few gold coins because of how powerful you all are. You¡¯d be a very good deterrent for would be robbers.¡± This time he looks at Dominit ¡°But for him I don¡¯t even know about him. If I were to guess you could pay him a hundred gold to kill a noble or royalty and he¡¯d do it easily. Not someone¡¯s bad side I want to be on.¡± Dominit smiled and leaned closer to him so only Sven and his group could hear him. ¡°I could have killed a king not too long ago but found it boring quiet a good instinct you have there.¡± He was smiling coldly again like when he¡¯d killed the Voids in the alley. Then begins laughing and the cold smile disappears as quickly as it arrived. ¡°But we do appreciate your good will. If we ever need work or have work for a caravan we¡¯ll make sure to keep you in mind.¡± Sven, Justin and Jaslyn weren¡¯t sure if what he¡¯d said was a joke or not but one look at Cassandra said that there was some truth in what he¡¯d just said making them all rather uncomfortable. ¡°Ah ha yes please do now I¡¯ll leave you four to your devices. I do hope we can meet again.¡± Sven takes his leave and joins a table with his head guards. Justin and Jaslyn immediately look at Cassandra and beg her to explain. She does and they both look at Dominit horrified. ¡°What? He pissed me off.¡± That was all he had to say about that. Jaslyn letting what he said go took the bag and began to count. ¡°This is ridiculous. This is a small fortune what kind of merchant pays this to four guards?¡± Dominit looks back over to Sven and notices him and his guards were eyeing them with sweat running down their foreheads. ¡°I¡¯d say a merchant who wants us to take the coin and not take everything else.¡± He nodded his head their way showing thankfulness and he saw several sighs of relief. After counting several times they had two hundred silver pieces and four gold pieces. Apparently one silver is the usual currency used here. An adult can live for a full month off of three silver. There is also copper but they didn¡¯t have any currently. But one hundred copper is one silver and on hundred silver is one gold. Gold was a kingdoms currency or the very wealthy. Not many people have seen a gold piece they are meant for building castles or buying wagons worth of supplies for armies. With the amount of money they had it would be enough for them retire and live comfortably right there. But Jaslyn took half the coins and gave them to Dominit. ¡°You did most of the work plus it¡¯s easier to hide if you hold on to some of it.¡± She smiled and gave the other half to Justin saying anyone who wanted that half would have to fight the big guy for it.Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings. After having their meal they went to pay when the hostess waved them off telling them Sven took care of it. The four thanked her and left the pub. They then gathered their belongings from the wagons and began heading north-west into the forest. It took them two days until Stella told them she found a cave with ominous mana coming from it. Her instincts were very sharp so they all headed their while complementing her for finding it. When they arrived they could also feel the mana coming from it. Only incredibly powerful magic¡¯s could be felt like this according to Cassandra. Dominit took point with Justin and the Ladies twenty feet behind him. Upon first look the cave wasn¡¯t anything special but after getting a hundred feet in they could smell blood and rot. They continued in slowly checking their surroundings for hidden adversaries and traps. They weren¡¯t sure how long they¡¯d been inside the cave but it felt like hours. As they traveled the cave¡¯s rough floor and walls smoothed out and began to look like masonry work with blocks of stone hewn right from the cave itself. Upon reaching this section of the cave they began to hear a strange chanting voice and screams from people young and old. They picked up the pace and after a few turns through the tunnel found a large room with strange markings on the floor. There were ten people wearing all black standing in a circle around villagers. On a raised platform on the far wall away from the group stood an old man with a large black book with the same strange symbols as the floor on it. Dominit grabbed the group and held them back issuing orders before allowing them to see what he saw. ¡°Jaslyn I want you to shoot the old man up on the platform. Justin, Cassandra I want you to go and break into the circle to protect the villagers fight and kill the black robed men and women only if they come after you or the villagers. Don¡¯t chase after them you must protect the villagers. They all nodded and began to work. As they rounded the corner Dominit seemed to disappear from sight but the others were too busy worrying about what they had to do to really notice. Jaslyn had her arrow flying the moment they all broke around the corner. It was about the hit the old man when a black shadowy hand caught it an inch from his chest. Justin and Cassandra were able to kill one of the surrounding people each. Saber also managed to end one. Now there were seven of them and as soon as they realized what was going on they pulled out long serrated daggers while the old man spoke. ¡°Well greetings young ¡°heroes¡±. He laughed when he said the last word with disdain. ¡°You are all just in time to join these fools in giving us our god¡¯s power.¡± He kept chanting while the seven cultists kept Cassandra and Justin in the group of people. Jaslyn wasn¡¯t having any of it though as she fired arrows and the seven cultists. Killing four of them before Justin, Cassandra, and Saber took care of the other three. As they killed the last three they were all gripped by their own shadows holding them in place. ¡°HAHAHAHA you fools. You may have killed those simpletons but there are always more to fill their place.¡± He kept chanting and everyone felt their strength drain from them. He seemed to be drawing to a close on his ritual when he started gurgling. They all looked up in alarm when they saw a shadowy claw sticking out of his chest. ¡°Why lord I am only doing your bidding.¡± He coughs up blood and everyone looking at him see the shadow claw morph into a dagger. ¡°Shut up about your god will you. Stupid fucking zealots.¡± The old man falls from the ten foot platform landing on his head with a soft thud as his skull hits the floor. Standing behind him is Dominit wiping his blade off. ¡°You guys ok down there?¡± They all nod but Cassandra gets a little angry. ¡°Where were you and what took you so long?¡± He laughed and jumped down from the platform slamming his boot into the old man¡¯s head crushing it. He then bent down and took the book from his dead fingers. ¡°Sorry about that but it¡¯s not exactly easy to sneak through a room full of assholes and sneak attack some kind of shadow mage.¡± He opens up the book and starts reading. ¡°Strike that a shadow and blood mage.¡± Jaslyn and Justin began rounding up the villagers and led them out to the mouth of the cave while Dominit stayed behind to look around. Cassandra was going to stay with him but he waved her off she¡¯d be close enough to not have the slave seal affect her before he¡¯d catch up. He spent some time making sure they were all dead and taking a few things from their dead bodies. The old man hand nothing special except for two black rings on his fingers. After cleaning up slightly he looked around noting that under the plat form seemed to be a door blocked by rubble. He joined his friends and after a brief rest for the villagers began taking them back to the village they¡¯d first came from. During the two day travel with hardly enough supplies for twenty some villagers they went hunting and foraging to keep everyone fed. When they finally reached the village of Titanvale. The villagers had happy and tearful reunions with their families. Many thanked the group and offered rewards but Jaslyn refused all of them as she was happy to help them. Dominit began stocking up on supplies while the others were busy being thanked for what they¡¯d done. When they were finally able to break away from the happy villagers Dominit told them what he found and was going back to make sure there weren¡¯t more of the Voids hiding in the cave system. Cassandra immediately began readying for the journey as she didn¡¯t have a great amount of say in where he went. To his surprise however Justin and Jaslyn also began preparing. When they were all ready they left. Much to the three¡¯s displeasure as they hadn¡¯t rest from their last journey. Dominit convinced them for every day they were resting they were allowing the Voids to regroup or escape. They agreed and once again journeyed back out. When they arrived they were all weary so Dominit allowed them to rest for however long they needed before venturing past the rubble covered doorway. Several hours after, Justin began shoving rocks to the side. After clearing a path large enough for him and Saber to pass through allowed Dominit to once again take the lead. They traveled for five hours with no signs of any one using this passage in years. At a certain point water droplets fell from the roof of the tunnel they were in. Reaching a point where the tunnel began to slowly go upward Dominit warned the others to be ready for anything. They found a wooden door and slowly crept through it. Exiting the tunnel they found themselves inside of a stone building of some kind. It took them a little while to clear the building and then to make their way out side. Looking around the outside of the building they were in they realized they were in a keep of some kind. They walked to the center of the courtyard when they heard multiple low growls. On high alert they put their backs together waiting for whatever it was. A minute passes and they see a red lizard begin walking towards them it was around two feet tall on all fours and over six feet long to the tip of its tail with wings on its back. Jaslyn slowly walks towards it and pets its head. It immediately purred and shoved its head into her leg asking for more. After it began purring twelve more lizards of different colors some red, blue, brown, and green came from behind buildings. Crowding around them hoping to also be pet. Jaslyn and Cassandra were ecstatic and happily obliged giving all of them a bit of attention. Dominit just watched and waited for something bad to happen when he felt something bump into his leg. He looked down and saw a lizard like the others but black instead. It looked up at him with large puppy eyes. He gave in kneeled down and began scratching it under its chin. While they were all purring they heard a loud roar from above them and a massive green lizard Dominit could only guess was a dragon landed in the courtyard. It roared ¡°GET AWAY FROM THE CHILDREN!!.¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 17 The large green dragon fell from the sky landing in the center of the courtyard. All the small dragons hurriedly ran to the out skirts of the area but a few chose to hide behind Jaslyn. ¡°WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE DOING HERE?¡± The dragon shouted in a low manly voice. The green dragon lowered its head to stare Jaslyn in her eyes. ¡°You there child of dragon¡¯s how did you enter this place?¡± They all stood there frozen in place waiting for the legendary beast thought to be extinct to wipe them from the world. ¡°Why do you freeze young ones? I was under the impression that the despicable humans had invaded this ¡°nest¡± for our young.¡± They all looked up at the dragon still not moving or even thinking. ¡°Yeah sorry about them. I didn¡¯t expect that dragons would be some rare creature that would liquefy their brains.¡± Dominit stepped forward with the black dragon trailing behind him. The dragon moved his head to look around the group of three and he began snarling. ¡°Human. For trespassing in this place I will rip you to pieces.¡± He began to gather his breath again when Cassandra shook her head violently and leapt to Dominit¡¯s side bowing quickly. ¡°Please old one do no attack my lover he has done nothing wrong.¡± The dragon stop preparing to attack and looked at her quizzically. ¡°Why, child of beasts, do you stop me from destroying this spec of dirt from the world? He may have not done anything yet but humans are the most destructive and evil force in existence.¡± ¡°Although if it weren¡¯t for them the other races wouldn¡¯t exist. It matters little as humans will all be tainted before long leaving only one course of action. They must all be eliminated before the world is destroyed.¡± Then something unthinkable for the three demi humans to even think about. Dominit looked up and yelled. ¡°Hey listen up you stupid lizard. You and I are going to need to have a nice little chat.¡± This caused the other three to look at him with their mouths open and the dragon did the same thing. He glared up at the dragon and pointed off to a corner of the courtyard. ¡°You three go play with the little dragons.¡± Justin was about to say something when Dominit held up his hand and glared at all of them he pointed to the corner and then to the dragon. Then to the other three, the dragon kids, and to the opposite side of the court yard. Just to make sure it sunk in Dominit let out a small amount of bloodlust/killing intent which scared the little ones, his friends, and a small shiver went down the spine of the dragon. ¡±What an interesting little human.¡± They all made their ways to their respective sides. ¡°Listen to me human you obviously wish to die so I will oblige but since you had the gall to talk to me in such a way I will hear you out before destroying you.¡± The dragon slowly morphed into a human shape with the cracking of bones as he shifted forms. He was seven foot tall with sharp features and ears. His head was bald with green scales covering it. He looked more elf like than Jaslyn did. She still had a few sharp features like her cheek bones and ears but that was it. This dragon¡¯s skull also had sharp accents around the eye sockets and chin almost triangular. ¡°Ok listen up ¡°pal¡± I¡¯m not your run of the mill human from around here so I¡¯d appreciate a bit more courtesy than what you¡¯ve shown me.¡± He laughed and looked at Dominit. ¡°You humans are all the same you think you are special because you might be a little bit powerful. Well it doesn¡¯t matter as this is your last day alive.¡± Dominit sighed and leaned in close to the dragon. ¡°Listen man I¡¯m not even from this fucked up world ok. I was brought here to clean up some bullshit crazy cult.¡± He raised an eyebrow at Dominit. ¡°So you¡¯re a hero from another world. That doesn¡¯t change much as humans are all evil.¡± ¡°Yeah I mean people from my world aren¡¯t all that great either but I wasn¡¯t exactly a monster from where I came from. It was only after Nyx brought me here that I¡..¡± Dominit noticed that his face began to pale at the mere mention of Nyx. ¡°Di¡ di¡ di¡ did you just say Nyx?¡± ¡°Ha he¡¯s actually stuttering what the hell. A second ago he was going to kill me now he¡¯s scared.¡± ¡°So why the change in attitude lizard man?¡± He looked at Dominit and backed away. ¡°I¡¯m¡ I don¡¯t believe you there¡¯s no way she would ever¡¡± The little black dragon that had followed him over began to nuzzle his leg again. The dragon looked down at it horrified by what the act truly meant. ¡°So who exactly is this little one and why is it so attached to me?¡± The dragon just kept looking at the little black dragon and shaking his head. After a while he calmed down but still couldn¡¯t really formulate any thoughts. Luckily he wasn¡¯t the only dragon in the area. While he was still yammering three more dragons flew in. One was brown, another red, and the last blue. They all quickly morphed to a humanoid form and approached the three playing with the dragons. ¡°Hello there you three if you don¡¯t mind us asking what happened to the other dragon who should have visited you all first.¡± They all pointed in the direction of the pale faced green dragon and Dominit who were now walking towards them. Dominit whispered over to the dragon beside him. ¡°I¡¯d appreciate it if you didn¡¯t tell my companions about what I am and where I¡¯m from. I¡¯d like to tell them when I¡¯m comfortable with it as I still don¡¯t know what it means for me to be summoned.¡± He simply nodded and continued over to his people. They rushed to the green dragon and surrounded Dominit but stopped when the green dragon waved for them to stop. ¡°It¡¯s alright he means us no harm. At least for now.¡± They looked and Dominit with anger and resentment but listened to him. This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Cassandra saw Dominit and rushed to his side making sure he wasn¡¯t injured. ¡°Why should we spare this human? These three are obviously his slaves we should just kill him and set them free.¡± Dominit growled at them which surprised them. ¡°Ok I¡¯m only going to explain this once so listen up because I¡¯m tired of being treated like shit by people like you. This is Cassandra she is indeed my slave but only because I was able to save her life from another but the only way I could was with a blood oath.¡± ¡°She is also my girlfriend so she is most definitely not treated as a slave. Those two are my friends. The elf is Jaslyn and the wolf is Justin they are dating so if I¡¯d treated one of them like a slave I¡¯m sure the other would have kicked my ass by now.¡± Jaslyn and Justin gave a slight nod to corroborate his story. ¡°Now that we¡¯ve got your racism out of the way why don¡¯t you explain a little about where the hell this is and why it was attached to a cave we found Void cultists in.¡± They weren¡¯t happy with the tone Dominit had used but Jaslyn jumped in and was very diplomatic in getting them to not gut him for his disrespect. They told the group that they were here long before anyone and that the earth dragon had sealed any and all entrances to the keep they used as a nest. The water, fire, and air dragons all used their magic¡¯s to keep a strong mist surrounding the area that forced people who wondered in to go back from where they came. They¡¯d been there almost a thousand years and the children they saw had all just hatched a month or two ago. As they were not the dragons¡¯ real children but orphans they couldn¡¯t be hatched in the normal way. Which is to have a parent let the child know it is safe to leave the egg. ¡°A month or so ago was when me and my family were brought here. That would mean they think we¡¯d keep them safe. Any hero who had a dragon backing them would definitely be a force to be reckoned with.¡± Dragons are incredibly intelligent and can think and act long before they are ready to hatch. They only hatch when they know it is safe to do so as the egg they live in is as far as anyone know completely indestructible. But as soon as they hatch it becomes weak and brittle to allow them to easily break free. They weren¡¯t sure why the children had hatched but were over joyed as all dragons were nearing extinction. Many if not all races assumed them to be long dead but that was what the dragons wanted. When they had enough dragons they¡¯d show the world that they were still very much alive but not until they were safe in numbers. Until then they needed to remain a secret they asked Jaslyn Cassandra and Justin if they could please keep it a secret to which they nodded. When it came for them to ask Dominit the only thing they did was draw a sword from thin air. Each one made from the element of the dragons themselves. ¡°We can trust the children of beasts and dragons but as for you human you will need to die.¡± The green dragon seemed very reluctant but also had a sword readied. ¡°Hello my little champion how have you been?¡± Dominit frowned while being faced with the elemental blades. ¡°I really don¡¯t have time for this right now Nyx I¡¯ve got a few dragons that need a beating.¡± She laughed in his head ¡°Sweaty you may be strong because of me but I highly doubt you can take four grown dragons on by yourself. So why don¡¯t I just send them a little message from me and speed this up?¡± Dominit shook his head causing the dragons to smile. ¡°Don¡¯t worry human we are merciful unlike your kind we¡¯ll make it quick. ¡°Ok Nyx I gotta go now they are starting to irritate me. I¡¯ve been treated with nothing but disrespect since I got here the only exception my current friends and Sven. So I¡¯m going to show these over grown salamanders who¡¯s in charge.¡± Nyx seemed to moan for just a second and Dominit thought he just lost it. ¡°I have to say I love the new you very much. So tough and in charge telling me a goddess what¡¯s going to happen. I¡¯m going to give you a gift for keeping things lively and me guessing about what you¡¯ll do next¡± Time seemed to freeze and the world slowly went dark. Dominit saw the beautiful Nyx slowly rise from the ground in front of him. ¡°Since you only have those first two powers right now I think it¡¯d be more fun if I showed you something else. It¡¯s not a new power per say but it expands on what you call the shadow walk.¡± She walk close to him and kissed him. As she did a torrent of information entered his mind and he thoroughly enjoyed it. It was similar to what he did at the library find any and all pieces of information that interested him and devour it. Only in this case it was instantaneous and was about his survival. Nyx was about to pull away as to much information may fry her champion¡¯s brain. AS she did however Dominit grabbed her head with both heads and held her firmly in place. Millions of pieces of information entered his mind faster than before. Nyx struggled trying to break free from his grasp but soon found the only reason she couldn¡¯t was because she too was enjoying this ¡°trade¡±. A full sixty seconds passed before Dominit released her. She feel to the ground without catching herself panting heavily. She was exhilarated with the fact a human just went through many of her memories and experiences without as much as a groan of pain. In fact she looked up at him to make sure he was still alive and found him grinning like a madman. ¡°Oh Nyx I greatly enjoyed that.¡± He lowered his self to one knee and stared her in the eyes. She froze for a second as she saw his eyes had also changed from their original color to that of hers with blood red irises. He reached for her chin grasped it with his hand and kissed her once more on the mouth. This time no knowledge flowed between them. Dominit closed off his mind with the help of her memories so that this kiss would only be for his pleasure and not for anything else. ¡°Let¡¯s do this again soon beautiful.¡± Nyx was still frozen on the ground completely blown away form what a human had just done to her and wasn¡¯t sure what to do. Not wanting to look foolish she decided her best course of action to be leave and gather her thoughts. ¡°Be well my champion.¡± She blushed and couldn¡¯t look him in the eyes then vanished. The darkness quickly faded and the dragons were still in front of him smiling. As time began to move they all slashed and stabbed at his previous position. He simply watched as the attacks sailed over his head and his friends yelled in fear. Seeing Dominit no longer in his standing position but instead on one knee the four dragons jumped backward slightly worried about how he¡¯d been so fast they couldn¡¯t see him move. He slowly begins to laugh quietly at first and then it grows louder sounding similar to someone who has lost their mind. He stares at them all his friends included and they all notice his eyes have changed color. ¡°Oh I think I¡¯m going to enjoy this.¡± All of them shivered as they heard his voice something dark was lurking in him that they¡¯d all either failed to see or didn¡¯t think was in him. He says two words before he launches his own attack and for years to come it would haunt anyone who would hear it for the rest of their lives while looking into his crazed eyes. ¡°Let¡¯s play.¡± Gods Chosen Few: Chapter 18 Dominit jumped backward with one foot and with enough strength to normally send him a few feet backwards. Instead he rocketed a hundred feet backwards to the main building of the keep where they¡¯d all come from. The dragons quickly followed after him thinking what he¡¯d just said was to throw them off and give him a head start. Cassandra screamed his name and then at the dragons trying to get them to stop but they didn¡¯t listen. After Dominit made it inside the keeps stronghold he made his way through looking for a large room where he could fuck the dragons up. He luckily found one before the dragons caught him. Inside it was barren with a few lit torches burning in the corners of the room. He quickly willed the shadows created from the flames to extinguish the light causing the room to go pitch black. Not even a moment later the dragons barrelled into the room. Dominit was sure that darkness wouldn¡¯t bother dragons as they were supposed to have incredible sight even in the stories of his world. They stopped running after they made it into the center of the room and began to sniff. ¡°We know you are here human come out and die like a warrior instead of hiding like a coward.¡± The red dragon seemed to be enraged at the moment. Dominit was going to be sure to use that to his advantage. He laughed hoping to make him angrier. ¡°And why should I come out when I¡¯m right here in front of you?¡± They looked and they could make out the outline of their human prey. ¡°But I said I wanted to play and if I were to destroy you in front of my friends I¡¯m a little worried about how they¡¯d react.¡± ¡°So I decided to seclude our actions away from any prying eyes. Now I¡¯m going to use you little shits to test out some new things my lovely Nyx just taught me so you¡¯d best be prepared.¡± The other dragons laughed thinking he was just lying hoping to find a way out of his situation. All except for the green dragon who had at least one reason to believe what this human was telling them. From behind them was a little bit of light from the magical torches in the hall. The light quickly faded and with it they could no longer see the human in front of them. In fact they could no longer see each other even though they¡¯d only been a few feet away. They were about to shout to one another when they all felt something slam right into their humanoid stomachs. They all flew backward and slammed into the wall spitting up blood. Then Dominit laughed like he did earlier like a madman who just found something new to torment. ¡°Ha what¡¯s wrong? Don¡¯t tell me a little human just made dragons¡¯ bleed with his bare hands.¡± The blue dragon growled at him but she was quickly silenced when she felt a slap snap her face to the side. ¡°Shush little lizard. You wouldn¡¯t want any of the little ones to hear such anger and pain would you?¡± The red dragon roared at him not knowing what had transpired and blew flames throughout the room. Dominit hadn¡¯t used any magic to stop him and they all saw Dominit standing with the blue dragon slammed into a wall with his hand clenched around her throat. ¡°You fuck put her down now!¡± The brown male dragon seemed incredibly angry now too. ¡°Oh is she your girlfriend? My apologies.¡± He let go of her and she fell to the floor gasping for air while Dominit backed away from her with his hands held in surrender. ¡°Sorry about that I did say I only wanted to play with you all but she just said something insulting about my Cassandra so I couldn¡¯t let that stand. Although I suppose when I bitch slapped her that should have been enough.¡± He shrugged and walked to the center of the room. The dragons looked up at him slightly disturbed but the blue dragon was slightly pale. ¡°How do you know what I said?¡± Dominit looked her way again and smiled coldly towards her. ¡°Well you see sweet cheeks when Nyx came to me about two minutes ago or so she passed on a lot of information.¡± ¡°It was only supposed to be about how to use the power of darkness but when she decided I had enough knowledge to survive I greatly disagreed and kept her from going anywhere. I guess some of the knowledge I picked up was every language spoken and written of this world.¡± He smiled remembering her luscious lips. ¡°Now I¡¯ll begin my experiments.¡± They were about to question him and see what he knew about Nyx when all light faded from the room. Extinguishing the enchanted fire from a flame dragon which was thought to be impossible unless you found a water dragon. Before they could regain any sense of where they were they all began to be pummeled from all sides at the same time from many unforeseen assailants. Growing more and more enraged the flame dragon began to try and attack whatever was hitting it. Flailing about she managed to attack something and so she took out all her fury on it. Minutes passed and suddenly the darkness lifted showing her what had been her punching bag. It was the green dragon and he was bruised and battered but still very much alive. Directly beside her was the blue dragon straddling the brown with her fists raised in the air to attack again. They were all shocked ¡°Ha ha ha are you guys serious what are you doing to each other?¡± They all saw Dominit siting in a chair against the back wall leaning backwards as if they had hardly amused him. ¡°You guys were supposed to find me not beat the shit out of one another.¡± He sighed and rose from his chair. ¡°You people or dragons however you want to be called aren¡¯t worth my time. I figured I could try out some great things but if I fool you that easily there¡¯s no way I can test out the serious stuff.¡± The girls had climbed off and help up their counter parts. ¡°How dare you human we will destroy you.¡± The red dragoness screamed. Dominit merely looked at her and shook his head. ¡°Listen I¡¯m going to do one more test on you four. I¡¯ll let you keep the light and you can work together this time. Should you survive I¡¯ll forgive you as I¡¯d hate to be someone who help make something like dragons extinct.¡± ¡°But if you fail and die here then I¡¯ll be taking the little dragons with me.¡± After hearing his final words all four dragons roared at him. They would never allow such a monster to take away their peoples only hope. Dominit nodded at them admiring their tenacity and then he disappeared. This narrative has been purloined without the author''s approval. Report any appearances on Amazon. The dragons readied themselves not willing to take the human at his words they all had their backs to one another waiting for their final ¡°test¡±. A few minutes passed and they began to think the human had lied and was currently taking the children when he suddenly appeared in front of them sitting in his chair from earlier. ¡°Where did you go?¡± It was the green dragon who spoke. ¡°Well if I¡¯m going to watch a show I might as well grab a few snacks.¡± He held up a back that was filled with smoked meats from Jaslyn¡¯s bag. ¡°Took me a minute or two to find it but now we can start.¡± They all conjured their elemental swords preparing to fight. Once again they waited and began to grow even more enraged that this human was making fools out of them. The flame dragoness had had enough and charged him. Before she made it half way across the room however she was grabbed by her hair and thrown backwards landing on her ass. She thought it was one of her companions but instead standing in front of her was a familiar black shape. She looked behind her and saw that her friends were facing the same thing she was only they were all slightly different. ¡°Do those things seem familiar¡± Dominit asked them. The red dragoness still unsure of what was going on answered that hers was familiar. Dominit laughed and then sat forward in his chair prepared to be entertained. ¡°Good then you can recognize your own shadows. They will be your opponents now you can begin.¡± As soon as he said begin the shadows leapt forward and attacked their corresponding ¡°owner¡±. The battle only took a few minutes as the dragons saw that their shadows had the exact same talent in combat as well as a sword made from darkness. They quickly realized that they couldn¡¯t beat them one on one so they focused one down at a time until they were victorious. After they were finished however instead of go after Dominit they released their swords and fell to the ground. ¡°What have you done to us?¡± The water dragoness asked out of breath and slumped on the floor. Dominit rose from his chair and threw the now empty bag of smoked meat into his shadow where it disappeared. ¡°It¡¯s quite simple really. I may have used your shadow to fight you but I made sure the ones supplying it power to keep it alive were all of you. So if you used more strength they¡¯d be able to match it perfectly.¡± They tried to rise but failed and Dominit slowly approached them and took one of his daggers from his back. To his surprise it had changed shape entirely. It was a once a simply straight dagger meant for stabbing but now it was a kukri. A knife that curved inwardly only a few inches past the hilt with a broadening at the tip of the blade. Much more of a combat blade than his previous simple dagger. He wondered how and when it had changed maybe his kiss with Nyx had helped it form. Glad it was a little more menacing now he took a few practice swings trying to get used to its new weight and form. ¡°Now I¡¯m going to have to train with this. Ahhhhh what a pain. Oh well these things had a million uses in my world on top of being a better sword than some of the shit they tote around here.¡± He reached the blue dragoness and pulled her hair forcing her head to lift and brought the blade to her throat putting it right in the bend. ¡°NO. Please human spare her please take my life instead.¡± The brown dragon begged while still exhausted. ¡°What makes you think she will be the only one to die here?¡± He looked at Dominit¡¯s red eyes and swallowed trying to think of a way to save them all from this monster. ¡°Any last words sweet cheeks¡± He cut her neck slightly with the blade. She began to shake and cry. ¡°I¡¯m sorry love.¡± She looked at the brown dragon. ¡°I will always love you Azog. Goodbye.¡± The Azog broke down and began to cry not wanting the love of his life for over a thousand years to disappear from his life. Just before Dominit pulled his Kukri back and ending her life he laughed. Azog thought he was laughing at their goodbye and could only wonder about how cruel this human was. But instead he laughed so hard he withdrew his knife from her neck. ¡°Now how come you assholes couldn¡¯t have shown me any compassion? After all I¡¯ve only been in this fucked up world for a few months trying to clean it up and all that ever happens is I¡¯m mistreated and hated. But when I beat the people responsible I¡¯m the monster?¡± He sheathed his new blade behind his back and grabbed two chairs from the back wall where he¡¯d been sitting. He picked up each dragoness and set them on it so they could be a little bit more comfortable while they rested. They stared at him unsure if this was just a joke and he was still going to kill them. ¡°You can relax now. I only said I wanted to play not kill. But I figured if I showed you what it was like for me the second I came to this world you know assholes trying to kill me and all that.¡± They stared at him not fully comprehending the fact that their lives were just in his hands and he could have ended them without any effort. He sat down in the middle of them and sighed. ¡°I understand why you did what you did but you still deserved this. After all I already told greeny over there what was up with me. And yet you still wanted to fight.¡± He shook his head ¡°You guys might be old but you¡¯re all still so dumb.¡± Dominit got up and started to walk back out towards where he left his friends. ¡°I¡¯m heading back. We¡¯ll be waiting for you.¡± He was about to leave the room when he turned back around. ¡°Oh and please don¡¯t tell my friends about me please. I¡¯d like to tell them myself just not yet. I don¡¯t think they¡¯d handled it to well right now.¡± He walked out and saw Cassandra was weeping on her knees where she had been standing originally. Jaslyn was wrapped around her hugging her but what also looked like holding her back. Justin awkwardly stood to the side with a tear in his eye. Dominit walked up to them without being noticed as they were all quite saddened. ¡°Hey guys what¡¯s so sad?¡± Cassandra shoots her head up and dives at Dominit tackling him to the ground and bawling on his chest. ¡°How could you? You bastard why would you do that to me?¡± Dominit just stroked her head and calmed her down. ¡°Shhhh its okay Cassy. I¡¯m fine see.¡± He tilted her chin up to look at his face. Her eyes had tears streaming from them but she was still beautiful. Dominit sat up with her in his lap with her face buried back in his chest. He tilted her chin back up and stared into her eyes. ¡°You are beautiful. Did you know that?¡± She looked at him strangely just before he stole a kiss from her. She stared at him with a blank expression for a moment. She then smiled slightly and kissed him. After a few more kisses she looked at him deathly serious. ¡°If you EVER do something like that again¡.¡± She grabbed his face with both hands and brought it very close to hers. ¡°I¡¯ll kill you!¡± She then kissed him one more time and got off of him. The dragons slowly made their way towards them with their wounds no longer visible. ¡°We are sorry for the way we acted. You may in fact be different from other humans. Please forgive us for our actions.¡± Dominit waved their apology away. ¡°Don¡¯t worry about it as long as we¡¯re ok now.¡± He nodded towards the water dragon hoping she¡¯d forgive him with what he put her through. She looked at him and then hid slightly behind Azog trying to hid herself. ¡°As we may be the last of our kind we have knowledge that may benefit your races.¡± Azog looked at the three demi humans. ¡°It will help explain why we reacted the way we did to your friend here. It pertains to how your species came to be.¡±
