《Inter-dimensional House Travel》 Prologue ¡°I¡¯m sick of this life!¡± That was the only thing in his mind when the young adult male came out from the building which was only a few minutes ago his work place. His name was Justin, He¡¯s been in and out of work for years now, it maybe due to his luck or because he believed about always doing the right thing, he actually thought it was the latter. He was a man who always did what is right, but sometimes being right isn¡¯t enough. When he was still in primary school he would always try to help his classmates that were being bullied and try to befriend them. He was mostly successful. But when he was in middle school things have changed, mostly the people. The people whom he had once helped and befriended, the people that were once bullied, have, after sometime, became bullies themselves. He did not understand their logic, why would someone who has been through something unpleasant do it to someone else? That was a mystery to him at that time. Then one day he was confronted by a group of three of his peers that he had once helped. They tried to beat him up but ultimately failed, they had known that he always had strength that was just enough to stop anyone attacking him or anyone he tried to protect without hurting the attacker too much. ¡°Why don¡¯t you seriously fight back?!?¡± one of his attackers asked him. He looked at them a bit bewildered. ¡°Don¡¯t look at us like your so high and mighty!¡± said another. ¡°I¡ I just don¡¯t want any trouble, you guys, I tried to help you all before and tried to be friends with you. Why did you try to attack me?¡± he asked his attackers while still unable to comprehend their actions. ¡°Bah! You¡¯re just full of shit, who asked you to help anyway? Did you really not know?¡± said one of them while trying to stand up. ¡°You trying to help us just made things worse! Every time you tried to meddle with things, we just got bullied more outside school! Fuck you and your help!¡± He didn¡¯t understand a thing that he just said, why would helping someone get them into bigger trouble? His young middle school mindset still can¡¯t grasp such a reasoning. He just left them without saying anything, not even listening to anything they just said to him while his back was turned. He returned home thinking about the events that have transpired just a few minutes ago. He turned the key on the front door of their house, yet the only person to greet him was his grandmother. He actually didn¡¯t talk much to his grandmother, maybe it was just because he has nothing in common with her, or maybe because his grandmother just started to live with them just a few months before. He was still happy though, since there was someone now that would be home when he also came back from school. His parents are only around sometimes. He hasn¡¯t seen his father in a year now, since he went to work in a different state and only comes home a few times in a year, and at those times he was either at school studying or making preparations or he was asleep and he just left before he woke up.The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. His mother however was always coming home, but would only come home to sleep and take a bath, since she has been studying to become a surgeon her schedule was very hectic and he could only his mother a few times in the morning. But still her mother would always greet her good morning and tell him to take care when he would go to school. After greeting his grandmother who greeted him back, he went to the kitchen and started to cook dinner for the both of them. Cooking was one of his strong points anyways, and he was also very happy seeing someone eat the food he has made with happiness. After studying and cleaning everything downstairs and taking a bath he went to sleep in his room. The following morning he wouldn¡¯t see his former classmates anymore. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- He didn¡¯t know why the heck he would remember something like that from the past. Maybe he blamed himself for them disappearing, he couldn¡¯t even remember their names anymore. Maybe trying to help would really make things worse for someone. He was laid of work today because he tried to stop his manager for trying to assault one of his co-workers. He knocked out his manager who was half way trying to pull down his pants. But after that, his co-worker was not happy, instead she was angry at him. Saying that she couldn¡¯t even live now that someone saw that she was being assaulted and that he would try to tell people how she was almost raped. Again he was bewildered by such reasoning. And when his manager came to he was brought in front of their boss. His co-worker and manager just denied that anything has happened, and his boss concluded that Justin just knocked his manager out cold for no reason at all which lead to him getting fired. How many times has his kindness and sense of justice get him in trouble since he was young? He doesn¡¯t even know anymore, maybe around a few hundred? Thousand? Maybe tens-of-thousands of times now. Who knows, why would he even care anymore? He drove his car home today, he was renting near the ¡°bad¡± part of town. It¡¯s been around five years now since he moved out from his parents. His mother was sad, but what he hadn¡¯t expected was his grandmother was even sadder. It was then that he realized that she was one of the people who loved him so much. Maybe it was time to go back home and try to find work at his home town. He didn¡¯t enjoy in the city he is working in anymore. He didn¡¯t have any friends here. He thought about just trying to start a local business there. He looked at the time, 5:32 PM, he wasn¡¯t sleepy or anything, but he felt that tried of shit now and decided to close his eyes and try to forget everything that had just happened. ¡. ¡ ¡ ¡ He woke up after maybe a few hours of sleeping, he doesn¡¯t know how long actually, he just noticed that everything was dark around him. He was still in bed, he could feel that, but his apartment was just too dark, why were the street lights not illuminating his room today? Maybe there¡¯s a black out. He walked to the light switch, nothing happened. ¡®Yup it¡¯s a black out¡¯ he said to himself. His eyes were already accustomed to lack of light, and he navigated down to the kitchen. Feeling for the cabinets he finally found a candle and some matches, good thing he was always ready for anything. He lit the candle and walked to the front of the apartment. And he saw that his apartment was surrounded by grass and hills¡ ¡°...What the fu-¡± Chapter 1: Looting? Justin¡¯s POV: ¡°...ck.¡± . . .. ¡what the fuck is this? I just slept and when I woke up my house was moved? Damn who the fuck is playing a prank with me. I see that hammer I used a few days to fix the table was still near the counter, maybe I should just take this hammer, wont know when someone will try to mug me in this darkness. I should find my Smart-phone so I can call someone. I try to remember where I last placed my phone, I think I left it at the cabinet in-front of the bathroom. I walk there and I find my phone. I look at the status bar on my phone.

It¡¯s still early night¡ and there¡¯s no reception. Just my luck, at-least I still have 90% in my battery. ¡°...¡± Well no point in whining, I guess I¡¯ll just look outside a bit and see if there¡¯s anything I can do. I walk outside the apartment, and see that most of the stuff around the apartment was here, there was that old small outhouse and the shed next to it, how the heck did anyone move that shit? Well whoever did this were pro¡¯s. I think I should check the shed, maybe the owner left something there that might be useful. And it¡¯s locked¡ Well good thing I have a hammer! I try to hit the lock, damn it¡¯s harder that it looks in the movies. I try again and¡ Bam! I got hit in the knee, mother fucker that hurt!.

Well everything looks good¡ Wait I mean this fucking sucks, I¡¯m stuck in an RPG world? Damn, I read about things like this when I was in high-school, I think the title was¡ I forgot¡ well thinking about it I¡¯m blessed by 3... gods I think, well I think something or someone will show up eventually to help me¡ I wish! I think I¡¯ll continue to try and get this lock open. I hit it again and, Viola! It¡¯s open. Goddamn lock was so sturdy, even if it was made in China, I guess even if it¡¯s made in China sometimes it works. So upon entering I see a chainsaw, a weed-blower, some pots, 4 containers of what I think are gasoline, a few solar panels connected to a battery, some boxes¡ wait, there¡¯s some solar panels and a battery! Just my luck, thanks Apartment Owner, I guess you really care about me. And look, the battery has a digital meter, and it looks like it¡¯s a half full. I don¡¯t know much about electronics and electrical but I think this thing can power some stuff in the house. Well I¡¯ll take this later after looking through some more stuff here. The owner has a lot of stuff stored here, looking at some boxes there are MRE¡¯s some water filters and a few loose cash, I never thought my landlord was a kind of ¡°Prepper¡±. well he did say that the government was secretly making a mutated version of Ebola that makes people into mindless flesh-eating zombies. Well thank you again apartment owner. At the back of all this stuff I find something I would¡¯ve never expected, unless I knew my crazy landlord. I see a gun, I think it¡¯s a M1 Garand Rifle, and a few ammo boxes. Wow the owner really did get ready for a zombie apocalypse. Good thing there¡¯s no zombies here. There was an envelope wrapped in some plastic near the gun. ¡° To anyone who actually opened the Shed that is not me, Well, if you¡¯re reading this, I guess that I¡¯m either already old, dead or in vacation. Or there is an emergency, maybe zombies. So I will leave a note here on the instructions on how to use this here M1 Garand. If you think that this gun is a bit hard to use there¡¯s a few guns and ammo boxes hidden in the attic, and there¡¯s also a wine-cellar hidden beneath the kitchen counter if you plan to hide like a sissy while everything just blows over. Well good luck there whoever you are that got this letter, better not be my ass of a brother. Well if it was my tenant, I would be happy with giving you this stuff. Just for the emergency. Good luck. Jeremy Matthews ¡° Well this was nice of the owner. I think I will take up his offer, I just need to get all this stuff inside and hide most of it in the cellar and just take a few of it so I can have quick access. Well this will take some time and effort. After more than an Hour¡ Well I managed to take it all inside, but I can¡¯t seem to find that cellar that he said in his letter, maybe I¡¯m missing something. I¡¯ll try to feel around the kitchen a bit then. He said it was under the kitchen counter, good thing the cabinets on the counter were empty. Using my phone to illuminate, I find that the base of the cabinet could slide open, wow just how obsessed was the landlord to zombies anyways? I slide the base and find out that it extended a few feet in-front, Mr. Landlord really thought about this stuff through, there¡¯s a lot of room to move around my way down these stairs. Looking around I see more MRE¡¯s around and some gasoline cans. Well things look even better, I better thank my luck. I see something like a gun-case while looking through the stuff, I open it and I find two guns inside, a .45 colt revolver and a 1911 colt pistol. I¡¯m more familiar with these guns since I used to play online shooting games. And again there was a note showing how to use the guns. Under the gun-case was a big strong box, upon opening I see more ammo boxes and a few combat knives and some oil canisters, I think those are used for maintenance on guns and knives. Well I¡¯ll just learn how to later. Well I should continue moving the stuff I got from the shed. After 45 minutes Well that¡¯s around half of the stuff I should do, next is the attic, maybe there¡¯s some more useful stuff there, well I think I should check the fridge for food first, I¡¯m hungry. Looking around, since the fridge isn¡¯t turned on because of the lack of electric current, the meat on the freezer is already thawed. Well I guess I should cook this first. Then it hit me, won¡¯t predators smell this meat while I¡¯m cooking it? Well I think I should cook after I fix all the stuff inside. I¡¯ll just grab the apple in the counter. ¡°...¡± Well that filled my belly a bit, guess I should try to take some of my stuff and hide it inside the shed too. Since there might be bad people around, and I don¡¯t know how well they can fight and what their weapons are, maybe there¡¯s even magic here. And I¡¯ll also check the attic a bit. Since I have only a few valuables, I did it in around a 30 minutes. The attic also mostly had two ghillie suits, three army uniforms and some vest. I think the vest are bullet proof, or at least stab or slash proof. There¡¯s a lot of things I don¡¯t know about inside this house. Well I¡¯m beat, maybe I¡¯ll take a bath first. I removed my shirt, then my pants, and lastly my boxers and wrap my body with a towel. I open the bathroom door, place the candle on top of then toilet bowl tank. I go inside the shower, open the faucet. . .. ¡nothing happens. And then it hit me. ¡°Fu...¡± Chapter 2: More Looting? Justin''s POV "..ck" I just realized that since me and the house was transported here and there was no electricity and water. I didn¡¯t realize it at first. "..." Welp, might as well go find some water, maybe there is a stream or river nearby where I can get some. I get dressed immediately, I now wore cargo shorts and a tee shirt, I grabbed a backpack and placed some MREs, a knife and a few other tools inside, I decided to take the colt revolver and a few extra bullets and a compass. At the back of the house, I pick up two empty water containers near the shed and took look outside, to see if there is anything dangerous around. When I see nothing I opened the gate and stepped outside. "Wow this place is beautiful, the wind is blowing a cool breeze and I like it.¡± I see the green, green grass around the walls of the apartment, this place looks like it''s not yet touched by civilization. I see fireflies flying around, or maybe those are pixies. well never mind, I should just move north first and try to find some water. And maybe some other stuff that might be useful. I moved at snail pace for now since I don''t know if there were any nocturnal predators around this general area. but after only 10 minutes of trekking, I find a river, and a satchel. I open the satchel and find 3 coins which I think are platinum, 53 gold coins, a hundred silver coins and around a hundred more copper coins.

Wow my luck gained a point just from that? Thanks to this bag of coins, I now have money to use in this world, I wonder what I could get with this much money? I need some stuff for the house obviously, and also something to preserve the meat in the fridge, well I guess I¡¯ll think about that tomorrow when I explore this place. I look at the rivers water, and I see that its even clearer than some swimming pools back home. "The water looks so clean, and looks good to drink!" Since my home town was kind of far from the big cities. I used to go swim at the river near our house. I enjoyed it when I was a child. I wonder how my best friend is doing right now, I haven''t seen him sine I went to college. I fill up the two containers and walk home with it. Damn these things are heavy. Well with this I may have just enough to use for a bath, it¡¯s been a while since I used a pail and a dipper to take a bath. Im almost home, I dropped the water containers for a bit to open the lock on the gate. aas

Well seems like menial jobs give exp and improve my stats. I reach toy destination and place the water containers inside the bathroom and I head to the kitchen to grab a snack. Damn I''m tired, and there''s still the solar panels to fix, an I also need to find a way to get water faster, maybe I can make a windmill to pump water to the house hehehe. I better look at the time, I take out my phone and see it''s past midnight already. I better sleep now then. I take of my clothes, I sleep in the nude most of the time, since It¡¯s much more comfortable, and it¡¯s not too cold because of the insulation inside. I went to bed and while I closed my eyes I think to my self. Why was I sent here to another world? Was I actually sick of my life before? Well I was actually sick of my life really hahaha, damn. Maybe good things will come to me. I just need to live my life here for now, maybe I will even find a way back home in a few months, maybe a few years or even decades. ¡°.¡¡± And I slept. ???¡¯s POV While I walked through the Valark Meadows I spot a house when I reach the hill, the house look like a fortress, well a small one, because it had 3 meter high walls and a metal gate. I better let the Captain know about this. It''s almost 7:00 in the morning and I was going back to Sumer Village after the Captain sent me to deliver a message to the StromWind Company at Meandro Village. Well I''m sure the captain would want come and see this later. Chapter 3: A Visit? Captain Valen''s POV: Morning, it¡¯s almost 9:00 AM and most of the men from my company have gathered in front of my tent for their daily training exercises. today I plan to bring them to the areas around the province''s boarder, since there were sightings of Bandits here from a few days ago. "...captain I bring¡ word" - Malach "Oh, why are you out of breath Malach, did something happen?" Malach is one of my runners, he runs around the province of Aldrain to send word between me and the other companies from time to time. Well I it¡¯s better to call him a messenger, but he¡¯s also one of my soldiers, so runner is a better term to use. "Sorry Captain, I just came back from Meandro village after you sent me to give a message to the StromWind company¡¯s Captain. He said that he will send a messenger at a later date for his reply about your request.¡± - Malach Since there were reports from traveling merchants about the bandits in the province, I tried convincing Captain Murdok to help in the subjugation of the Bandits instead of going to the town of Lersche to ask for help from the Adventurer¡¯s and Mercenary¡¯s Guilds. I wish he would like to come and help my company. ¡°Thank you Malach, do you have anything else to report?¡± ¡°Ah yes Captain, I saw a strange sight earlier on my way here. There was a building near river threo in the Valark meadows and I ran as fast as I can to report to you." "A house you say? What kind of house was it?" I never heard anyone talk about building a house at that general area. Since that area was unclaimed land I guess someone would like to stay there. "The house was made of something like stone, a strong kind of stone, but I don''t know what kind. and it had three meter high walls made of the same material, I think. And there was a metal gate that was as high as the Stone walls. Also there were two small structures inside."- Malach Well only a rich merchant or a noble would have house like that, but by how high the walls were, I would say that it¡¯s almost like a fortress, only a few people could afford to make people build their house from stone, and even less would actually add a metal gate and High walls. I think I should see this strange house and meet with whoever is living there. "Well change of plans then." I look towards my men "Alright men,I think we should look into this house... or compound that suddenly appeared on the Valark Meadows." My men just sighed, well this is better than just lounging around Aldrain Meadows. the hills around Valark will make them a bit more tired and might also help in letting them add more stats on Strength and Endurance. ¡°Malach, Before you go, can you call for Christa, she might be of help to us when we go there.¡± I said to Malach who was almost going back to his tent. ¡°Understood, Captain¡±-Malach After 15 Minutes ¡°...you called for me Captain?¡± I see our new and only mage Christa was already here, I called for her to enter my tent. As usual she wore her robe which she said was enchanted with Physical protection against most weapons. Well since mages had lower health that warriors, they usually compensate this with using enchanted robes or tunics. ¡°Ah yes Christa, I would like you to accompany us to visit a strange house that suddenly appeared near the Threo river in the Valark Meadow, I think you already heard it from the other soldiers?¡± ¡°You know I don¡¯t actually talk to much with your men except for some of them that don¡¯t look at me with hostility.¡±-Christa Since she is a mage, and a girl at that, most of the men don¡¯t trust magics to much. Since it was only around 20 years ago since our Kingdom has added mages from the Azure Academy to be part of the Companies. Most men don¡¯t like mages. You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version. ¡°Well, Christa, I would like you to use your skills, for later at the House we are going to visit.¡± Christa just looks at me for a bit and thinks for a moment. ¡°I won¡¯t take Jor and Jacob there.¡± I say with a smile. ¡°Okay Captain.¡±-Christa I dismiss her and Begin packing my stuff and equip my armor and weapons. Justin''s POV I wake up to the sound of banging on the gate. "Is anybody inside? This is Captain Valen of the Marthean Kingdom Army. can I speak to the owner of this house?"-Captain Valen Wow a Military man actually came to see me, I look at the window and I see around 50 people in leather armor with various weapons from spears, swords and bows. There¡¯s also someone wearing a robe and holding what looks like a tome, maybe that¡¯s mage. well I better make nice to them, I don''t feel like it would be a good idea to fight with people like them. I took a white shirt and wore a pair of slacks and put on my shoes after I washed my face. I pick up my Revolver, I check it, yup it''s loaded. and pick up the bowie knife and head downstairs to get a glass of water and eat an apple. After a few bites I go to the door and open the door. "Ah greetings, I am Captain Valen, I was told that a house suddenly showed up in the area, you don''t look like you''re from here. May I know who you are?"- Captain Valen Well since I am of Asian descent, I don''t actually look like them. they''re mostly blondes and brown haired. better not screw this up. "Ahh, Yes, my name is Justin, I actually don''t own the house, I¡¯m just renting it since the landlord went to a vacation." The captain just looks at me and mutters a few word I couldn''t discern. The robed figure then goes to side and speaks with the captain. "Ah pardon me Sir Justin, it seems that you are a scholar, but might I ask you, how did you manage to build a house here, and a good one. in a matter of days. What magic was used?" -Captain Valen Wow so that robed figure really was a mage, and the mage also used some kind of spell to see my status. So there really was magic in this world, Interesting. For now I''ll just offer to let them inside for now. I open the gate and and the Captain smiled at me.
Hospitality +2 Reputation
And there it is, I shouldn¡¯t be surprised now. I really love how this rpg world works. I look at the captain looking at me while I ushered them into the Veranda, well he has a lot of soldiers with him. " I don''t think all your men will fit inside so lets just go to the back where there is more space Captain." The captain nods and I lead them.to the backyard. while they get themselves, I excuse myself a bit and I go inside to grab a water jug and a few cups to let them drink. I think walked a bit to come here, and they''re thirsty since they were sweating abit. I comeback to hand the jug and cups to his men and they help themselves and personally give Captain Valen a cup. "Thank you Sir Justin, as you may know, I am curious about your presence in this area. May I ask why you are in the Valark meadows alone?"-Captain Valen Well that shouldn''t come as a surprise, they seem to be a good bunch of people, might as well tell them some of the truth. "Well you see Captain. Yesterday, maybe around 8:00 PM, I woke up and suddenly see that the house and myself were suddenly transferred to this area, as you have seen, I am not from the area, and I do not know if I am even in the same continent I was in yesterday.¡± The captain again asked for the Robed figure to come forth, the robed figure then took of her hood and I saw that it was a beautiful girl, maybe around 20 years old or even older and she looked me in the eyes. ¡°By the power of Luduan, do you swear that you are all that you have said is the truth?¡± Well that escalated quickly, they might think I can be hostile, so I¡¯ll just try and tell only the truth. But who was Luduan anyways? ¡°I swear that I have only spoken the truth.¡± And a light shone where I was, it actually felt good to be honest. The captain smiled and looked at me. ¡°Well it seems like you told the truth, still where are you from anyways?¡±-Captain Valen ¡°I¡¯m actually from a place called San Fernando.¡± The captain then asked the man to his right, he looks like he is his right hand man. Well looks like they don¡¯t know where I¡¯m from. ¡°Sir Justin, since the world is vast, I think we don¡¯t know where this San Fernando is. But as of now, you are inside of the Kingdom of Marthea, and as such there are some, procedures you must accomplish to properly live here. Since this place Is around an hour¡¯s walk to the nearby village it would be hard for the kingdom to have the guards make rounds here, but if you like I can make some of my men fortify the area around your walls and help you with the procedures I have said earlier. But all of that would actually cost a bit of coin.¡±-Captain Valen Well being formally known as the Owner of the land around here would be better, and maybe it¡¯s safer to have a few guards around the area. And I might also be able to trade with travelers that might pass by. ¡°Okay I will take you up on that. How much does it cost for your men to build some fortifications around the house?¡± The Captain smiled and said ¡°well for the paying my men for building and guarding the area, and also for the materials that will be used, I would say around 3 gold coins and 20 silvers. As for guiding you to the next town it will be free since we plan on going there to report. May I ask though what is your level now Sir Justin.¡± I smiled and said ¡° I''m still only level 17." . . . The Captain was shocked I don¡¯t know why. Chapter 4: Knowledge? Christa¡¯s POV What a strange man this Sir Justin is, he looks like he''s only around my age and yet his level is almost the same as Captain Valen who is almost twice his age by the looks of it. upon using [lesser class appraisal] earlier, I found out only his class, I saw only that he was a [Scholar], but what surprised me was he also had the [Warrior] class. which is hard to get when someone is a [Scholar] because a lot of Warriors find it hard to get the [Scholar] class and vice-versa. Most of the people I have seen with both classes were [Spellblade]s, which is a Sub-class for People with a [Swordsman] Sub-class and a [Mage] Sub-class together with the [Scholar] class. He also lives alone in a house on the Valark Meadows, which is a natural breeding ground for Monsters like Goblins and Ogres. And also the house he lives at is made of some kind of stone which looks pretty sturdy and the foundations look like it''s around 6 foot deep. And to top that, he has enough money to pay some of the soldiers build some fortifications and guard his house for 5 gold and 20 silver coins, which was a lot of money. I myself only carry 3 silvers and 10 coppers, which I saved from my pay in the Army for around three months now. Most soldiers would only get 1 silver a month which would be 2 times the average a man would get if they only worked odd jobs. I myself get 1 silver and 60 copper coins a month since I¡¯m a [Mage] and also a [Cleric]. The only people who can spend money like that are either Rich merchants or Nobles. But Sir Justin looks like neither. He¡¯s good looking though, but he dresses weird, he just wore some shorts that people who work with a [Builder] class have. And also he only wears this white thin cloth tunic that doesn¡¯t even look like it can protect anyone from a punch. Well he looks like a kind-hearted person so that¡¯s a plus side. Captain Valen¡¯s POV ¡°...Hahaha! Sir Justin that surprised me a bit!¡± I¡¯m genuinely surprised by this man in front of me, Justin. He lives alone in this house in the middle of the meadows even though he looks 20 years younger than me! And he has some cash, I don¡¯t know how rich this kid is, but if I were still and Adventurer, I would like to be hired as a body guard for him. And he¡¯s willing to bargain with someone he has only met. The money he¡¯s willing to use is not cheap too. Well really should include him into the report I will give to the Commander when we go to Lersche. ¡°...So uhm, Captain Valen, can I ask you about why that was surprising?¡±-Justin So he doesn¡¯t know about it then? Well maybe where he¡¯s from people get levels faster. But the only places I know where people can get levels that high for his age are either battle fields or through training. He doesn¡¯t look like a fighter though, even if he has the Warrior class. And his skin looks like it¡¯s smoother than a baby¡¯s bum hahahaha. ¡°Well Sir Justin, may I ask then how old you are?¡± ¡°Well I¡¯m only 25 Captain.¡±-Justin ¡°Look here Sir Justin, most of my men are only around level 5, and they¡¯ve been conscripted for 2 years now. But not only are you a Scholar which is hard to get levels from, but you are also only 25 years old. To be frank, did you have a tough life before?¡± Guessing from his age and level he might have had a tough child hood and adult life until now. ¡°To be honest Captain, the only thing I can say is that when I was younger I was always trying to help people that were being pushed around. So that is what also made me a target of a lot of attacks from people of my age.¡±-Justin So he really had a hard childhood, I better not ask anything touchy anymore, that might hurt his reputation with me. ¡°Sorry for that Sir Justin, but can I permission for letting me and my men pitch our tents around your property?¡± ¡°Sure Captain Valen, but if you would like I can let you and the Mage to stay inside the house, I still have two extra rooms with beds inside the house. And I would also like to ask things from the both of you.¡± - JustinUnauthorized content usage: if you discover this narrative on Amazon, report the violation. Well he¡¯s really a hospitable man, most rich people would look down on people like us and a snobs and irates. ¡°I¡¯ll take you on that offer then Sir Justin, So Christa would you like to stay inside instead of staying in a tent outside?¡± Christa just nodded in agreement. I then instruct my men to pitch tents outside the walls. Justin¡¯s POV After the Captain gave instruction to his men, I lead them to the living room and let them sit down. They look like they¡¯re comfortable with the sofa¡¯s. ¡°So Sir Justin, what would you like to talk about?¡± - Captain Valen ¡°Well Captain I would like to know more about the General area where we are right now. Since I don¡¯t know much about where this is.¡± ¡°Well first lets talk about your location, we are currently in the Valark Meadows, this area is surrounded by hills in the north and south and the Threo River runs through the East and and breaks of a bit to the north of this area. We came from Vale Village, which is west of here, I would take around an hour of walking to get to Vale. So if you travel up north to the Malak Mountains you would see the Town of Malark, named after the smallest mountain on the western part of the Mountain cluster. If you travel to the south of here you will come upon stone foot village if you follow the road before you reach Lersche. Northeast of here is the fortress City of the Crying Gods, which is where most of the trade goods from north of the Kingdom. It might be called a city but most of the people who live and go there are merchants since it¡¯s where most of the outside trade goods come from.¡± -Captain Valen It seems like I will need a map of the Area so I can get a better view of it. ¡°Can I ask more about the Province then Captain?¡± ¡°Sure, the province we are in now is called South Aldrain, most people of the Marthean kingdom would just call the province Aldrain since Northern Aldrain was conquered by the Pratheans around a hundred years ago. Not many people hold any animosity against the Pratheans now which is the reason the Fortress City of the Crying Gods is mostly used by merchants and traders. Aldrain The Province mostly trade in animal skins from the hunted wild life, some villages also produce stone and Iron. And Vale specially trades wooden products made by our artisans.¡± - Captain Valen Well that makes things clearer, so we¡¯re in a boarder town that produces stone, iron and wood and some smaller stuff that he might not have told me. But I wonder if the bordering Kingdom of Prathea would attack this area too. I wish not, but when push comes to shove I can still protect this place anyways. ¡°Thank you captain for your insight. Now can I ask our mage some questions too?¡± The female mage then looked at me, looks like she was eyeing the lighters that were on the shelves, I like collecting lighters and I enjoy smoking. Well I think I only have a few packs upstairs left. Well I¡¯ll just look around town when we get to Lersche. ¡°Of course Sir.¡± - Christa ¡°So miss mage¡¡± ¡°Call me Christa.¡± - Christa ¡°...Christa, first I like to ask about how money works in this kingdom.¡± ¡°Well it¡¯s actually pretty basic sir, the currency used here is called Imperial coinage, it has been used pretty much since the whole of the Continent of Veladria was once a single Empire. The coins we use are platinum, gold, silver and copper. Breaking them down, 1 platinum coin is equal to a hundred gold coins, a gold coin is equal to a hundred silvers, and a silver coin is equal to a hundred copper coins. Some people actually use a different form of currency, but people would still accept it if weighs the same as the Imperial equivalent.¡± Wow so the coins that we are using were used for a long time now. That¡¯s a nice history lesson. I would still like to know more but maybe I will just buy a book when we reach town. ¡°Thank you Christa, can I ask you how I can learn to do magic? And also the basics of magic? Don¡¯t get me wrong, I am a scholar but where I was from we didn¡¯t have magic.¡± Christa and Captain Valen look at me for a moment, Christa furrowed her brows while Captain Valen just smiled. ¡°So where do I even start, before I can tell you how to learn magic, first you need to understand how magic works and how to control magic. First anybody with enough mana can cast first tier spells like [Light] and [Spark] which are quite useful in daily use. There are 6 tiers in magic, from tier 1 to tier 6, though there are also other spells that are categorized as tier 7 or higher, that¡¯s only because of the difficulty and mana it will cost if one would try to use the spell. There are four basic elements used in magic, Earth, Fire, Water and Air, with these for we can also get more advanced elements which can include lightning, sound, magma and ice. There are also some special types of magic like Holy and Dark, the spell I used earlier to ask you about the truth was a 2ndtier holy spell called [Truth]. On how you can learn casting magic though, you would either need to buy tomes or books for magic or get a magic instructor to teach you. The cheapest would be to learn from books which will take you some time, the fastest way is to buy tomes, but tomes cost a lot of money.¡± - Christa Well magic seems like it¡¯s hard to achieve, maybe I could get some tomes in the city or just a book. Or maybe I can ask Christa to teach me sometime. Well that¡¯s that, I continue to small talk with the captain and Christa and then Christa notices the gun on my waist. ¡°Sir, what is that metallic object strapped to your waist?¡± - Christa Well I expected someone would notice this, I guess I should show them how this works. So I stand up and bring them outside the house bringing a stool and an empty can from the garbage bin. I place the stool in the middle of the meadow and on top of it the empty can. ¡°Well this is a weapon from where I come from, weapons like these are generally called guns, this particular gun is called a revolver, they vary in sizes but this is more on the small side.¡± They both nod meaning they just understand what I said. I guess. Show them the gun at the side, keeping my index finger away from the trigger.¡±A gun works by pulling¡ or more like pressing the trigger here¡¡± I show them the trigger.¡±¡and that in turn will cause this pin to strike the bullet that is inside chamber which will cause a reaction that will propel the bullet from the barrel to the target.¡± again they nod. I think they understand. I aim the gun at the empty can, place my index finger on the trigger and¡ BANG!!! There was a loud ringing in my ears, damn, I forgot to use ear plugs. I look behind and the captain and Christa were both rubbing their ears. The explosive reaction of guns really hurt the ears. ¡°Hahahaha! What a marvelous weapon Sir Justin, it¡¯s a ranged weapon right? How far can that thing shoot an enemy?¡± - Captain Valen ¡°Based on the books I have read before, this particular gun can has an effective range of 50-100 feet, but sometimes it can hit target of more than a hundred feet away. Though some other bigger guns would actually hit targets upto two miles, which was the longest recorded.¡± ¡°.¡Such a powerful weapon¡ tell me Sir Justin, do you know how to produce such a weapon? It would do the Kingdom a great service.¡± - Captain Valen ¡°..." Some Drawings and explaining that I will just say So here''s the top view of the house (or compoud or anything you can call it) that our protagonist is renting. - I love joji music Chapter 5: More Knowledge? Justin¡¯s POV Since I practically showed them how a gun works, they kinda got interested in owning such a weapon. Through out history, people that make more powerful weapons would cause a huge stir in the battle field, and new these technologies would most likely always make a huge impact in the overall war that happens in a specific time in history. ¡°Well Captain I would be honored to offer Marthea my knowledge, but that knowledge is a forbidden art that only a few of from where I came from actually know how to do. And unfortunately I don¡¯t know how to make any weapon in the first place.¡± The Captain just looks at me for a moment and smiles. ¡°Well Sir Justin, forget what I just suggested to you. Thinking more into it, I realize that such a weapon would be to terrifying to use in wars. Even if we do use it only to protect our people, such a technology might get into the hands of our enemies, we wouldn¡¯t like that, specially if the Dark Kingdoms get hold of it.¡± - Captain Valen Did he just say Dark Kingdoms?¡±¡Captain, can you tell me more about those so called Dark Kingdoms?¡± I kinda got curious, what could make a Kingdom a Dark kingdom? ¡°First let me explain about the various kingdoms around this continent, Our kingdom, Marthea, is one of the lesser kingdoms that are mostly landlocked, our kingdom is currently surronded by three other kingdoms and the Theocracy. As I already told you to our north, we have a border with Prathea, as I told you earlier, we were at war with the Pratheans some time ago. We might not have any more hostility towards them, but we strongly hate their use of slaves, which mostly include demi-humans that they conquered. They are also the reason for our bandit problems here at the north, since they attack caravans and small settlements and sell them as slaves in Prathea. To our west there is the Theocracy of the five, which is always neutral during War time. Most kingdoms try to give offerings to the Theocracy, our kingdom included, for more blessings from the five head gods, Shang-di, Amaterasu, Bathala, Ku and Yul-ryeo. Though our the church here in Marthea is called the Church of the Twelve Gods, that is because we also believe in the other major gods that are under the five head gods. In the east we are bordered with the Yellow Kingdom, but their people are called the Han, their kingdom was the first to form after the fall of the first empire. They hold the most land in the whole continent, and produce many goods. Though thought of as the most powerful and some may even call the kingdom intimidating, not once did the Yellow kingdom attack another since the fall of the First Empire. And lastly we have the Lustan Kingdom to he south, they are currently at war with us. Just 20 years ago the area bordering the south was once part of the Pars, our ally, which is now reduced to a small principality that is trying to get support from other kingdoms. Only our kingdom has tried to help them.¡± - Captain Valen Well I just hate Prathea even more now, and also Yellow Kingdom sounds familiar, guess something I need to look up next time I guess. The Theocracy is like the Papacy in our world, well minus the multiple gods. And the is also the Lustan kingdom to the South which has attacked our ally the kingdom of Pars. ¡°Thank you for information Captain, so are Lustan and Prathea considered Dark Kingdoms?¡± ¡°No, they are not, Dark kingdoms are kingdoms that borrow power from the Dark gods, most notably their use of Death Magic and Black Magic, not to be confused with Dark magic, which they primarily use. Dark magic is not looked down upon since natural light over time would remove the effects of Dark magic in the lands, Black Magic on the other hand would need Holy Magic to cleanse the area which it is used one, and Death magic is actually used as a way to offer up the souls of your enemies to the Dark gods which gives them more power with vile magic.¡± So there are Dark Kingdoms here with a lot of Bad Magic. So I turn to Christa, ¡°So miss Christa since we are currently talking about magic can you tell me more about the spell that you used earlier on me when you saw me?¡± ¡°Well¡ Uhmm¡.¡±-Christa ¡°...It¡¯s okay Christa tell him.¡± -Captain Valen ¡°Well I actually used a skill not a spell.¡±-Christa ¡°...so what¡¯s the difference of spells and skills?¡± So there was a difference between them? ¡°Spells and Skills have a lot of differences, Skills sometimes can actually use mana like Spells but that¡¯s over simplifying it. Skills may use a few different catalyst to trigger, most skills will actually need the use of mana or even health at times to cause the triggering of skills. Unlike spells though, skills don¡¯t have elements, which Christa has already told you. Most rich people and nobles would learn information like this at a young age, but since you are not actually born here we understand that you don¡¯t know the basics. But it¡¯s still kind of weird.¡± - Captain Valen Thanks for calling me weird Captain. ¡°The reason for that, Captain, Is because the place where I came from, actually doesn¡¯t practice magic. We however practice Science and even a more advance version of Alchemy called Chemistry.¡± Well that chemistry part was true since the first Chemist were actually people who also tried to create gold from coal¡ I think. A lot of weird things happen at earth. ¡°Well I¡¯ve never heard of a Kingdom anywhere that doesn¡¯t practice any form of magic. Science and Alchemy though are used by all kingdoms, but I don¡¯t know how advanced other kingdoms are. I¡¯ve heard that the Draconic Isles are home to people who pursue Science and Alchemy, and they have made a ship that is larger than any other. Though not used for War, but for trade actually, it¡¯s still quite intimidating some say.¡± - Captain Valen Well I think that¡¯s enough asking for now, I see that Captain Valen¡¯s men have already settled them selves well outside the house, it¡¯s already around 2:00 PM I think. Christa and the captain have excused themselves for now and went to meet with the soldiers. Well I better install the Solar panels for now. I took the ladder from the garage, the battery powered drill and a few screws. I test the drill if it still has power, I couldn¡¯t see the Vampire lights on it since It¡¯s busted lol, but I pull the trigger and it still has juice, maybe just enough for the installation. I then put all of those stuff at the back yard and take the solar panels from the Basement and I realized that I needed someone to help me carry the stuff to the roof or maybe just hold the ladder. I might as well look for someone available in the captains camp. This book''s true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience. I walk outside the walls and I see that the captain was busy training with some of his men, others were doing stuff like setting up tents, sharpening their weapons and there was even one person that was busy shaving narrow wooden sticks, I think he¡¯s making arrows since he also has some feathers. There were also three people tending to food, one was butchering a goat, well the goat has very large horns and tusks. I notice the man that was with Captain Valen earlier, I think he was his right hand man, he was sitting near one of the tents reading a book. He notices me, stands up and approaches. ¡°Hello Sir, I believe I haven¡¯t introduced myself to you yet, I am Marshu, Vice-Captain of Northern Watch Company. I see that you seem to be looking for someone or something, might I help you?¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu So he really was the 2ndin command of this company, and since he is already offering to help me I better just ask him. Well if he wouldn¡¯t mind. ¡°I am Justin, you can just drop the formalities, I would actually like someone to help me¡ in some carpentry at the house, maybe carry a few stuff too.¡± ¡°Well since all soldiers of the Marthean Army did not only have the [Warrior] Class, but also another separate class because of Marthea¡¯s Conscription policy, a few soldiers also have the [Builder] Class, which I myself also have. If you would like I can help you, since I¡¯m not doing anything.¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu I thank the Vice-Captain and I lead him to the back, I told him to first support the base of the ladder before I go up while carrying a solar panel and the drill. I haven¡¯t actually though about how I can do that so I just bit down on the drill bag and placed the solar panel in between my arm pits. Since the solar panel was the flexible kind it was lighter than the bigger bulkier ones. I place them on the roof and went back down to get another solar panel, I think two solar panels are enough for the basic stuff I will use. I go back up, with the Vice-Captain following, after I reached the roof. The Vice-Captain just looked at me while I was placing the solar panels. I¡¯m still checking on where to install these so I can wire this faster to my stuff. I just decided to place one on each side of the slanting part of the roof. So that I can get sunlight from Sunrise to Sunset. I think that¡¯s how these things work anyway. Then I used the Drill and made holes where I should install screws on the roof. I screw on the solar panels and viola it¡¯s done.
Basic Installation done, New Class Acquired: Builder +200 exp
New Sub-Class Acquired: Carpenter +100 exp
New Skill Acquired: Lesser Construction
Nice I gained a new Class and a new Sub-Class too! And there¡¯s also a skill. Well [Builder] looks like an important Class for me to have. I guess it will help me in the maintenance of the house when something breaks, I need to take care of the house so that the owner would not get angry with me if ever I go back. My grandmother told me when I was younger that I needed to take good care of things that are not my own, since I¡¯m just renting this apartment it¡¯s like I¡¯m just borrowing the house anyways. I wonder how grandma is doing at home. ¡±¡¡± I see the VIce-Captain was eyeing the drill that I used. ¡°Vice-Captain, this is called a power drill, it¡¯s a drill that works using electricity, to make the drill bit turn at a high speed to make the drilling process faster.¡± well I think that¡¯s enough of an explanation to the Vice-Captain. ¡°...that¡¯s a nice tool to have, it can make building a house faster, but what is this electricity that you are talking about? Is it a kind of Spell?¡±- Vice-Captain Marshu Since they don¡¯t have much knowledge about electricity and other advanced sciences,I think it would be better not to tell them about things like this. I think shouldn¡¯t have shown them how the gun works too. People with power become corrupt sometimes. Well I¡¯ll just tell him something else well. ¡°... Electricity is a kind of¡ invention by scientist where I came from. It is used to power a lot of things, and it doesn¡¯t require mana since it¡¯s a product made with purely science.¡± Well that might be enough for the VIce-Captain. ¡°...Ahhh, I think I understand now. I was wondering though, Justin, do you have the [Builder] Class? It¡¯s hard for most people to actually use tools like drills if they don¡¯t the Class or Skills for it.¡±- Vice-Captain Marshu Come to think of it, Christa said that People who have the [Warrior] Class have a hard time getting a class like [Scholar] and a sub-class like [Mage].¡±I actually just got the [Builder] Class after putting up these¡ panels, and I also received the [Carpenter] Sub-class. Is that strange?¡± ¡°Well most people would actually have classes that are actually a bit connected to each other, there are six Basic classes and in order they are, [Warrior] [Worker] [Builder] [Scholar] [Trader] [Noble]. there are also special classes that one can get when two classes are merged, example is [SpellBlade] which is special class when a [Warrior] with a [Swordsman] Sub-class also has the [Scholar] class with a [Mage] Sub-class. The reason that it is hard for someone to become a Scholar and Warrior at the same time is because of the prerequisite stats that are needed for it. The [Warrior] class would require more Strength, while to scholar class requires more Intelligence. Though some sub-classes are considered aberrant like [Archer] which is a sub-class of [Warrior] but is only gained by having 30 Agility and experience in using a bow. Though the sub-classes aren¡¯t actually needed in the usage of weapons and magic, since even a [Farmer] has the ability to wield a spear and can also cast basic magic like [Light] which is commonly used in traveling in the dark to light the areas that are being traversed. Classes and Sub-classes just give additional bonuses to the person in the forms of titles, skills and spells. There are also times when people gain Classes from their heritage, consider a couple who both have the [Trader] class, their children would have a high chance to also recieve the [Trader] class upon reaching 10 years of age. [Nobles] children on the other hand, Naturally 100% get their [Noble] Class upon birth and are able to lose them when two people class that has a higher authority than them like [King] or [Cardinal] strip them from their, they then also loose their class as a [Noble].¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu ¡°So there are a lot of ways to gain different Classes and Sub-Classes, and there are even ways to lose them, I was wondering about the different Special classes too, what are the special classes anyway? Does it include my [Chef] Class?¡¯ ¡°Well the [Chef] Class is has only a low prerequisite of 5 strength and 5 intelligence, but it¡¯s sub-classes require higher stats, an example would be [Advanced Chef] which requires 30 intelligence and 30 agility and the title that can be received from a [Noble] as proof of being an [Advanced Chef]. there is also the Special class [Land Owner] which is gained by getting a title deed from the Governor¡¯s office in a city. This class though only gives a few minor skills like [Lesser Diplomacy]. I was thinking, do you know how to access the skills tab?¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu ¡°Well I only know how to access Status, but I don¡¯t know how to access any other¡ tabs¡± well this is all foreign to me anyway. ¡°...Well you can Access the skills tab by saying Skills or just thinking about opening Skills. Try it.¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu ¡°Skills!¡±

That makes sense, most of the skills that don¡¯t use my brawler skills won¡¯t hurt me, Heavy punch deals 10 damage to me so that would hurt, well I did use heavy punches sometimes before, like when I knocked out my pervy manager. Cooking and those basic Knowledge skill don¡¯t cost anything which made sense. But what¡¯s that last one? [Divine Language], it said blessing, maybe that¡¯s the reason I can communicate with them even though I¡¯m from a different place and maybe even different languages. Looking back closely, I noticed that when people talked with me, their mouth movements were not similar to the words that they said. Maybe that¡¯s an effect of the skill? Well may I will find out eventually. ¡°You can also see the description of a skill by thinking about the skill and say ¡®info¡¯¡± - Vice-Captain Marshu I think about [Divine Language] and then say ¡°info.¡±
DIVINE LANGUAGE: Allows the person with the Blessing to communicate with any sentient being in all of creation, can only be granted by a god of creation. does not cost any mana when using. activates immediately when someone is talking with the user.
Well that¡¯s a convenient skill, I thank the god who gave me the skill. Maybe I can also speak to dragons and ogres! ¡°There is also the Spells Tab, I think you know what to do now.¡± -Vice-Captain Marshu ¡°...Spells?¡±

¡°...¡± Chapter 6: Doing What? Justin stares at his Spells tab, there was nothing there, well he kind of expected this since spells actually require mana which was something the Earth did not have. ¡°Well then, might I ask Sir what your skills are?¡± Vice-Captain Marshu inquired a few moments after Justin first tried opening his Spells tab. ¡°Just as I expected. I don¡¯t have any spells, might be because like I said earlier, we didn¡¯t use magic where I am from.¡± he answered ¡°Lets go down for now since we are finished,¡± Justin suggested ¡°can I invite you to a small snack after this? Just to thank you for helping me.¡± Since he did have some meat that would go might go bad in a few hours, he¡¯ll just cook it all for now. ¡°I¡¯ll take you up on that.¡± The Vice-Captain the went down the ladder first, carrying some of the tools down, followed by Justin who was again, biting down on the bag with a power drill while going down the ladder. He didn¡¯t even question how his teeth didn¡¯t get a bit loose from doing that. Well dentistry might have done something about it. The Vice-captain then escorted Justin to the Garage where they put down all the tools and the ladder. ¡°There are various tools here,¡± the Vice-captain noted, looking at the tools that were hung on the wall. ¡°looks like they¡¯re all made of high quality materials.¡± the captain then took a a ball pein hammer and looked at it closer. ¡°The metal used here looks better than most tools, is this made from steel Justin?¡± He asked while feeling the material of the hammer. ¡°It¡¯s actually called Stainless Steel, which is a kind of steel that is treated with some other chemicals that makes the steel shine longer and does not rust in most conditions.¡± he responded while looking at the Vice-captain who placed the hammer back to it¡¯s mount. ¡°Since alchemy seems to be prevalent where you¡¯re from, they really have made a lot of tools made from different metals.¡± he stated while still looking at the tools. He then spots two club hammers in a corner. ¡°I see you have two of those hammers which are the same,¡± he then proceeded to pick up both of the hammers. ¡°Can I buy one of the hammers from you Justin.¡± he asked while he placed one back where he picked it from. ¡®I think there was around ten more of those Lump Hammers in a box somewhere here, I think I should just sell the one he is holding now.¡¯ he mused to himself. ¡°So how much can you pay for it?.¡± asked Justin while smiling. ¡°I¡¯ve seen these types of hammers before that were made from iron which sell for around one gold and 50 silvers coins. But since this is steel, and a much more superior variant of it. I guess I can offer you up to 2 gold and 50 silvers.¡± he offered while holding the hammer. ¡°How about 3 gold and 50 silvers?¡± Justin haggled, the Vice-Captain then thought about it. ¡°I think that¡¯s much more than I can afford,¡± he replied ¡°How about I give you 3 gold coins for it? I think that¡¯s a fair price since this hammer is already used. That¡¯s all I can give you anyways.¡± the Vice-captain said. It¡¯s true, since a soldier can only make so much. Justin thinks about it for a bit. ¡°it¡¯s a deal then.¡± Justin then offers his hand and Marshu shakes it and that seals the deal. The Vice-captain takes his pouch and took out 3 gold coins and Justin placed the coins inside his front pocket. He leads the Vice-captain outside and locks up the Garage. The Vice-captain then bids him goodbye and went back to the camp, he looked happy with the deal. It was just a used hammer anyway, and there were more inside the Garage like it since the Landlord showed him the stuff inside the Garage. He looked back to it, the Land Lord was kind of unique, in a good way. when he was home, he would always try and have conversations with Justin when he came back from work. And in his spare time he would show him a lot of his stuff. He once showed him his collection of teeth, which he said were once his. And he collected it over the years until he bought himself dentures. It was kinda morbid in a sense, but maybe it was just a way for him to pass his boredom. Or maybe it was because the Landlord was lonely. He never seen any of the Landlord¡¯s family members since he started renting the place around 5 years ago. He remembers the first day he came to the city to find a job. While walking through the neighborhood and he saw that there was an apartment for rent. He was thinking about it, the neighborhood was in the ¡°bad¡± part of the suburbs, and the place looks like it was a good find. When he met with the Landlord he was told that the rent was cheap, and he it also the rent also included access to all floors and rooms except one room, so he was elated from that. The only downside was the Owner was going to be living with him inside the house. Since the rent only cost a bit of money every month, and he most of the places he¡¯s been to actually cost a larger portion of his money, and also because he only had a a small amount of money left. He agreed to the conditions and had his stuff sent immediately to the apartment. ¡®Maybe I should open the Landlord¡¯s room later. He did say in the letter that there were a few more useful stuff hidden in different parts of the house.¡¯ he thought about it while he walked inside the house. He turned to the Kitchen and opened the Freezer, he looked at all the semi-frozen beef inside and took It all out, he left it out for now to thaw for a bit then went to the his room and wired the Solar panel to the battery. He also added a wire that connected to the battery to an AVR and plugged in his Computer. The vampire lights are on, it works!, he then turns it on and he hears the sweet sound of a loud cpu fan. Thank you salary for this old computer. He hasn¡¯t upgraded this computer in around 2 years now. He thought about upgrading it before but his budget was always tight. And he always got into trouble, or did trouble get to him? He took the left over wires and created an extension plug that would stretch from the bed room to the kitchen. He plugs the Electric stove, it works too. He checks the meat, it looks soft now. He thought about what he would cook. He went back to the fridge to look at the produce that he has left. He saw 2 cloves of garlic, a few potatoes and some white beans. There was also a bag of bell peppers and kilo of tomatoes that was not yet opened. He actually planned on making some chili a few days ago but didn¡¯t have any time yet. He decided to make some. He checked the upper drawer near the sink and took a can of tomato sauce, a can of corned beef, chili powder and other spices. He then took one of the water container from upstairs, he actually forgot to take a bath again, maybe he would take a bath after eating this. There was a meat grinder at on the kitchen counter, so he shoved all the thawed beef and it was ground real good. He then heated a large pot and add some oil, when the oil was nice and hot he turned down the heat for a bit. He took one of the garlic cloves, crushed and diced it a bit and added it on the pot, waited until the garlic was a golden brown color then added the nice ground beef.If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. ¡°That smells good.¡± he mused while the meat was cooking, It was around three kilos of meat. He then took another pot which was almost as large as the first one and added some water and the all the beans in the pot. He should¡¯ve cooked the beans first before the meat, well it¡¯s just fine anyway. Looking at the meat which was already getting a nice color, he adds the can of corned beef and some water and the tomato sauce into the pot. ¡®It looks good¡¯,he thought. Looking at how much he ingredients he has, he might have enough to feed the men outside too. Well it was better for him to give it away than letting the meat go bad. Taking a knife and a chopping board, he chops of the tops and bases of the tomatoes and peeled and diced the potatoes. After that he took the bell peppers and cut them up, he doesn¡¯t remember what kind of cut it was, he thinks it was called Julienne? He then proceeded to mash the tomatoes to make a paste which he quickly added to the pot followed by the bell peppers, he decided to add the diced potatoes later so it won¡¯t get too soft upon cooking. Checking up on the beans, they already look like they¡¯re almost done. Taking a strainer, he strained the beans and added some cool water to the beans so that they won¡¯t over cook just yet, and placed it on the side for now. After a few minutes he looked at the chili that was cooking and added some pepper, chili and garlic power and some salt. ¡°...still not enough, I think it needs some sugar.¡± he said to himself. Taking a jar of sugar, he then added a spoon and tasted it again and looked happy by the result. He then added in the beans and let it simmer for a few moments. Outside Christa was walking around the wall and she got a smell of the chili Justin was cooking. ¡®That smells good, like seasoned meat, and I can get faint traces of spices from it!¡¯ she thought while looking for the source of the wonderful smell. She then found her self in front of the gate, it was open so she made way to the southern side of the house, she saw there was an open window and tried to peek inside, but the window was above her height. So she went to the door at the back of the house and knocked. The door opens and Justin leads her to the kitchen and offers her a seat. ¡°Looks like you smelled the chili, it will be ready in a few minutes. I¡¯m gonna give the most to others later but you and I can eat some of it when it¡¯s done.¡± he said with a smile while cooking his chili. ¡°Yes it actually smells good! What did you put into it anyway? The only thing I smell from it that I know was the pepper and meat.¡± she asked while peering in his direction. ¡°I just added some tomatoes, potatoes, bell peppers, salt, black pepper, chili powder and garlic power. If you want to look at the spices I put in there you can look at them there.¡± he then pointed to the kitchen counter where the spices were. Christa stood up and went to see the spices he had, she¡¯s only tasted these spices a few times before. Since most of the spices were quite expensive because they only come from a few other kingdoms outside of Marthea. And she has never tasted any food that had all of these together. ¡°I see that you have used a lot different spices, I¡¯ve tasted food seasoned with pepper only a few times before and it was never added with chili and garlic, since most of those spices are quite expensive.¡± she said while smelling the other garlic clove. She then tried to sniff the chili powder and she sneezed and her eyes were water.¡±¡cough¡ never mind me, I forgot that chili powder can do that.¡± Justin then took a handkerchief from his back pocket and offered it to Christa. ¡°Thank you.¡± the young mage said while trying to wipe her eyes. Justin then though about it, seems like spices and other seasonings are kind of expensive in this world. It kinda mirrored history on earth were salt and peppers even cost more than their weights in gold. Good thing he has a good stock of the stuff he uses when he cooks. He then thanks the Landlord for always keeping some at the shelves. It almost felt like he knew that Justin would be sent here for some reason. Well that¡¯s highly unlikely.

After the pop up shows up, he thought about how convenient it was. He just needed to let it cool a bit so it would taste better. A few minutes later he takes two bowls and fills it up with the chili and offers one to Christa who takes a bowl and sits down with him in front of the table. ¡°Wow this looks good Sir!¡± She was amazed how good the food looked. She bows her head in a silent prayer, which Justin also imitates. She takes a spoonful of the chili and the flavors explode in her mouth. She has never tasted such a complex flavour before. ¡°This taste amazing Sir! Could you teach me how to cook such a dish?¡± the mage looks at him with puppy dog eyes. ¡®damn she¡¯s cute¡¯ he said to himself while the small mage was looking into his eyes. ¡°Well if we ever have more time and ingredients, maybe I can teach you. For now lets just enjoy the dish.¡± she answered the mage.¡±Also please just call me Justin because I feel older when you call me ¡®Sir¡¯ all the time.¡± he added. She nodded and he heard her say his name faintly while eating the chili that he offered her. It made him so happy that someone is enjoying the food he made. Maybe he could setup a restaurant here or maybe a full-pledge inn? Well he did plan to start a business when he was supposed to go back home, and cooking was one of his strong points. Thinking about it, since he was younger, his house-mates were always the elderly type. Up until the landlord went on a vacation. And they always loved his cooking anyways. After eating asked Christa if she wanted more, to which she crossed her arms held her belly. Maybe that is a no? So he took the bowls and just left it in the sink for now, he was gonna wash them later anyway. ¡°Let¡¯s take this to the men now then, it will still taste good when it¡¯s a bit chilled, some people prefer it that way. But the soldiers would most likely enjoy a spicy dish when It¡¯s hot right?¡± he said while putting on his heat-resistant gloves. The mage nodded in agreement and also took one another pair that was readied for her and they brought the chili outside. It was around 5:00 PM now, the sun was almost gonna set anyways. Most of the soldiers were sitting near fires that were scattered throughout their camp. They seem to be talking with each of their respective circles. And there was also the Vice-Captain, he was with 3 men that looked younger than him, and as expected he seems to be showing off his new hammer that he got. He expected such a sight anyway since he did get a nice hammer. The Vice-Captain then spotted Justin and Christa walking with a big pot, he placed his hammer on the floor and told the men to hold on it for a bit, and went to the pair. ¡°Justin, Christa, looks like you¡¯ve cooked something. You did say earlier that you were going to give me a meal, but looks like you¡¯ve had enough food to feed the men.¡± the Vice-Captain exclaimed while he took the pot that was still a bit hot from their hands. Maybe his hands had a lot of callouses since he didn¡¯t even flinch from the heat. And proceeded to place the pot on a wooded board on the ground. ¡°Well Vice-captain, while I was cooking food I noticed that there was still a good amount of food I had and I couldn¡¯t use the¡ freezer anyway because the thin wires for the cord couldn¡¯t support it¡¯s load. So I just went and cooked it all.¡± he explained to the Vice-captain. Christa then excused herself to call the Captain. Which they both agreed to. After around 2 minutes, Christa came back with Captain Valen and he saw the pot. ¡°My! That looks like a lot of food Sir Justin! Did you make that all by yourself?¡± he then proceeded in front of the food, held the cover.¡±May I?¡± he said, the young man then nodded to say yes and the Captain and Vice-captain looked at the contents of the pot. ¡°Smells like this was made with different spices! I¡¯ve only tasted something like this when I was invited to the Governor¡¯s house when I transferred to the province!¡± the Captain said while looking at the food while the Vice-captain looked at the food, almost drooling. ¡°Yes Captain, I added a few spices to it. I wanted to give this to you and your men, just as a simple thank you for coming to meet me today.¡± Justin explained while looking around the camp. The Captain then asked the Vice-captain to call for the men and he took of to get the men together around the pot. When he came back, the men came one by one. There was also 3 men that were carrying a pot of what seems to be soup made from the goat he had seen earlier. ¡®I actually want to have a taste of that. It¡¯s not everyday that I try food made by another culture.¡¯ he mused while looking at the three men. ¡°Okay men since you¡¯re mostly here, this pot right here is made of a special dish that Sir Justin has made for us all! He will also join us for an early dinner now. You will won¡¯t you Sir?¡± he said to the men and Justin too. Justin just nodded in agreement and they proceed to each get a bowl of the chili, and another bowl of the soup. The other soldier also eventually got one of each after they had their turn. The soup looked like it had a lot of umami, maybe it was the fat content of the goat? Justin looked at the contents of the soup and noticed it had a familiar looking organ mixed in it. ¡®Well looks like people really don¡¯t waste resource here¡¯ he mused. He had seen cooking like this before from the Landlord. It was a soup made from goat meat and organs. The landlord said it originated from the Northern provinces of his country and they enjoyed it quite a lot. So he tasted it and it was a bit bland. Well he did expect that since salt was said to be expensive in ancient times, and maybe it mirrored it here. After finishing their meals. They proceeded to some drinking. The Captain seems to have brought a barrel of ale with him. Well he would just drink a bit he thought to himself while he was handed a mug by the Captain. It looked like beer and smelled like beer so he thought is was beer. He took a drink and said. ¡°It¡¯s beer.¡± ¡°Yeah it is, don¡¯t expect us to bring something like whiskey.¡± the Captain said Since whiskey was a stronger drink and I don¡¯t actually expect soldiers to drink the stuff when on the job anyway. Suddenly a man came running, he had an arrow sticking out from his shoulder, and he was bleeding. The captain and Christa then went to the injured man. ¡°Malach, what happened to you?¡± the Captain asked. The man looked at the Captain while Christa was carefully dislodged the arrow that was in his shoulder. ¡°Ouch! Christa you could¡¯ve given me a heads up¡ ugh¡¡± the man said, he was in pain but Christa just smiled and casted a healing spell.¡±Well captain, as I was making my rounds, I came across a Traveling caravan going to Meandro, when suddenly we were attacked by bandits. Damn those Prathean Bandits!¡± he explained while his pain slowly subsided. ¡°Did anyone foll..¡± the captain tried to ask when suddenly an arrow hits the back of one of his men who suddenly fell down. ¡°Ughh¡!¡± said the man that was shot. ¡°We are under attack! Bandits!¡± one of the men said. ¡°Fu¡¡± Chapter 7: Who is Wrong? His men were currently gathering the loot that they have taken from the caravan which they have attacked earlier, most were the merchant''s wares. it was a short fight since only 3 men were guarding the caravan, those mercenaries were low leveled and didn¡¯t even stand a chance. The old merchant didn¡¯t even try and fight. Even when they captured his son and daughter he just asked for them to be spared, but his pleading just went to deaf ears. When bandits capture someone, they either get killed, become slaves or even play things to the bandits. The merchant¡¯s daughter would most likely be sold to slavery. Her smooth and pinkish white skin was one thing, but she also had a gorgeous body that made the bandits get a hard on. But the Bandit leader did not let his men get their way with her. The Leader was a former mercenary from the Yellow Kingdom. He was once the strongest man from his village and was the envy of his peers, and women flocked to him. But not once has he acknowledge a single one of them, because there was only one woman that he loved. "Okay boys how much loot did we get?" he asked the few men that were scrounging through the merchant¡¯s stuff, they were just throwing the useless stuff out of the wagon and bringing in stuff that they took from the mercenaries¡¯ and the merchant¡¯s packs. "The wagon had some silk and spices, the guards only wore leather armor, which are now ruined from the fight, they had some gold though which is always nice. And the Merchant had some serious cash in his pack." one of his men replied. the bandit leader nodded and went to the direction of their captives. The leader was happy with the loot of course, he couldn¡¯t go back home anyways so he just did what he can to survive. Even if it meant dirtying his hands just to do so. They called him their ¡®boss¡¯ or even ¡®leader¡¯ just because he was the one who lead their original group out of prison. That was around five years ago, and his handful of followers grew to the hundreds in that short span of time. If he wasn¡¯t just sent to prison maybe he can go back home. "..Fucking scum! I''ll kill you!" the young man said to him. he was the the son of the old merchant. They were traveling to Lersche together with his sister where the were planning to sell of their remaining goods. He was aspiring to be a soldier when he grows up. Since he was young he has heard stories about the famous Adventurers that after some time, became the first kings of some of the kingdoms in the continent. But he might not get a chance to live that dream anymore. "Don'' tah back ta da boss like dat boi, o wud ya wan ta end up like yer gahds der." said the gruff man who was standing guard to the prisoners. The boy glared at the man and looked the other way. what could the young boy do? his elder sister and father were both tied up just like him and the mercenaries that they have hired were all dead. The bandit leader never chose a life like this, but he was a wanted man in the Yellow kingdom. He Is a kind man, that¡¯s why he wanted to help his prison mates to escape since he thought that they were in prison unjustly. But alas they just tricked him. His only choices then were continue through with his prison mates or, or die. Since he would either be killed by them or the soldiers that might pursue them. So he chose to go with them to Prathea and they chose him as their leader. Maybe it was because of his great individual strength? Or maybe something else he had. The man sighed while looking back on everything. Did he do something wrong with his life? One of his men on horse back was in his sights, he was one of the men that followed the soldier that passed by when they attacked the caravan. "Boss, we followed the soldier who escaped earlier, we managed to hit him with an arrow but he still ran back to what seems like a house near the river. there seems to be around 50 soldiers camped around it. some of the men are currently engaging them as we speak." said the scout. ''A house near the river? and in the middle of nowhere also. And he said only 50 men were there.'' he thought to himself. since some of his men have already engaged them they might as well attack them with full force. "Alright men gather all the loot and load it to the wagon, the other men have found another target and are currently fighting as we speak." the bandit leader said. They loaded up all the stuff and their prisoners and headed to the location of the said house. He had more than two hundred men with him so he thought that he could take on that small force. and the house may also have valuable stuff inside too. There can never be enough gold anyways. His men loved going to brothels and go drinking whenever they go to town. Upon reaching near the house, he noticed the first group that came were already taking as many things there were on the tents inside the camp. Outside the house were a lot of tents, which seem to be owned by the soldiers inside. Looks like they hurried themselves inside to the house. One of the men was holding a nice looking hammer, it was shining and didn¡¯t have any sign of rust, only a few small dents and scratches that were barely visible from afar. ¡°Boz! Look, da hammer looks good no? It¡¯s steel, I think, but there¡¯s no rust on it even if it looks old and beaten.¡± the man holding the hammer said, showing the hammer to the him. ¡°And maybe we can get some good stuff in there, just look at that house! The house inside looks like it¡¯s been made by a skilled engineer and I expect some good loot in there. Even if it has high walls we can still take them on, just because of the small odd chance that we might get something valuable. If there is nothing we can just kill them all!¡± exclaimed one of his men behind him. He hated that man since he joined up with them a few months ago, he would always charge up to the enemies and some of the others always go and help him. It also costed the life of one of their newer recruits. ¡°Well let me just try to negotiate with them to surrender their weapons first. If they refuse, you might as well go pillage the house.¡± the bandit leader said. If they were stubborn then there was no way to help them now. Meanwhile inside the house, Justin and the injured soldiers were currently at the backyard with Christa tending to the wounded. She¡¯s been using healing spells since they were attacked 30 minutes ago and consumed 3 bottles of what seemed to be mana potions. Justin didn¡¯t know, but he didn¡¯t ask. He went to the front of the house where the gate was located, he wanted to see what was going on outside now since they retreated earlier ¡°Seems like more bandits came. And one of them took my hammer!¡± the Vice-captain exclaimed looking through one of the grills on the gate. He really liked his new hammer. ¡°Calm down Marshu, we can get your hammer later, for now, lets formulate a plan on how to fight them off for now. I already made some of our runners to send for help from the nearby village. Maybe they can come in 1 or 2 hours.¡± the Captain said trying to console the Vice-captain who was both angry and sulking. ¡°I don¡¯t suppose you have a plan Sir?¡± the captain then said when Justin approached them. ¡°Seems like I don¡¯t¡ or I think I have something that we can use.¡± Justin said. Well it was a long shot but there was no time for testing. ¡°Wait for me here captain. I¡¯ll just take something from¡ inside, but don¡¯t let anyone inside for now okay? Or should I just lock the door. Either way just wait for me.¡± he then exclaimed and ran to the kitchen where the entrance to the cellar was located. He went inside and took the M1 Garand that was leaning on the wall and an ammo box. He then looked through a few boxes until he saw the box that he needed. He smiled and took it outside. When he came back the captain just looked at him. What did he have anyway that can help them? To the captain it looked a bit useless. ¡°We just need the help of your Fletcher and archers for it to work.¡± he said to the Captain who was still skeptical. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it. The Bandit leader was now in front of the gate, waving a white flag. He was going to try to negotiate their surrender. The bandit leader waited until the gate was open and the Captain with Justin and a few men came out. ¡°Good day to you good sirs! I am the leader of these bandits and I would like to ask you all to kindly surrender and we will let you all escape.¡± the Bandit leader said to the men in front of him. ¡°And if we wont? What will you do?¡± the Captain replied ¡°Then we will slaughter you, well my men will, not me. I don¡¯t enjoy it.¡± he answered. ¡°What will you do to the house then?¡± Justin asked. He was more concerned for the house because the landlord might get angry if it gets totaled. That was what he had on his mind. ¡°Well I don¡¯t know. But maybe we will take everything that we can sell and then destroy it.¡± the Bandit said. ¡°Fuck you then! you¡¯re gonna die for hurting the men who are helping me and for trying to destroy the house!¡± Justin literally snapped at that moment. But only at that moment. He regained his composure shortly after. ¡°...Very well then¡ I bid you good bye.¡± The bandit said excusing himself. ¡°Well were fucked.¡± one of the men who were with the Captain and Justin said. Well it was true if it weren¡¯t for the fact that Justin brought out a box of that. A few minutes later Justin was now on the roof top for a ¡®birds eye view¡¯ of the outside, he had the Garand and ammo box with him and wore the black military suit which he got from the attic and some night vision goggles. The suit looked like it was for night ops anyways. ¡°Never tried shooting this gun before, but I¡¯ve played a lot of video games before. So it might work. I plan to fuck those bandits all up anyway.¡± he said to himself while trying to fix himself up on the roof. It was a good thing the Garand had a suppressor to, since the bandits wont notice where the shots will come from. When the bandits charged with their weapons drawn, the Captain commanded his archers to aim high with the specialarrows that they made using the materials given by Justin and with his instruction. He doesn¡¯t know how well it would work. But he still took a chance on the strange scholar. ¡°Well men, as Sir Justin said be careful with those when you light them up.¡± he said to his men while another man was lighting up the arrows which were aimed at the bandits. ¡°Now!¡± the Captain then yelled and the archers let loose their bows. None of the arrows hit the bandits. ¡°hahaha! Their archers can¡¯t even aim right! Lets go men!¡± one of the bandits shouted continuing to charge past the arrows lodge on the ground. The suddenly BANG BANG BANG!!!¡. One by one the arrows suddenly explode. The bandits were surprised and were moving disarrayed. The captain and his men were shocked by the effects of this material that Justin gave them. Justin knew what it was and what it¡¯s effects was. It was dynamite. While looking down on the men, he carefully aimed at one particular man who was holding his ears that were ringing from the explosion. BOOM! Said the gun, but I didn¡¯t hit the man. He tried again. BOOM! Cluck! He shot him straight in the head and the man fell down, dead on his feet. He didn¡¯t even notice he died. The Vice-captain then gave him a thumbs up for killing him. Since that was the guy who has his hammer.

He didn¡¯t look at the notifications for now since he was focused on finding his next target. He wasn¡¯t happy with how he got it, but they forced his hand, and they will pay for all of their crimes. From side to side, top to bottom, he tried to look for the bandit leader. He was still unable to find him though. Maybe it was because of all the commotion, or maybe he fled. ¡°Captain! Try to route them out now, but don¡¯t let the archers fire those exploding arrows while you¡¯re outside, it¡¯s too dangerous.¡± he shouted to the captain. And the captain nodded back. ¡°Archers! Hold! Lets take them on while they¡¯re confused! Charge!¡± the captain order. Them men the drew their weapons and plowed through the disgruntled force which were the bandits. Some of the bandits manage to get their selves together and fight, but were eventually killed by the men who had very high morale. The Captain was currently using his hidden trump card. [Inspire] was a passive skill that boosted the morale of his men and gave them added strength and agility for the duration of the skill. While it is a passive skill, it is only triggered when in a dire situation that turned favorable. Which was something that is happening now. The remaining Bandits scurry away from the battle field, trying to save their lives. Their leader though was no where in sight. ¡°Boss where are you!¡± ¡°Has anyone seen the boss!?¡± ¡°God dammit their coming!¡± The bandits were already fleeing left and right. On the hill top, a few bandits looked upon the battlefield. They ran off at the first sign of shit hitting the fan. ¡°should we not help them?¡± one of them asked. He was concerned for his comrades. ¡°Hussh man, we cant go der anyway, it¡¯s a damn fooking bloodbath there.¡± said another. ¡°Seems like we¡¯ve underestimated them.¡± said another. ¡°We need to let the other bandit groups know about this new weapon the army is using.¡± said a young bandit. One of the bandits suddenly drop dead in front of them. A man comes out from the shadow and points his weapon at them and asks. ¡°Where is your leader?¡± ¡°Who the fook died and made ya king!?¡± an older bandit said and tried to unsheathe his sword, but ultimately failed when a bullet was lodge between his eyes. ¡°I¡¯m not going to ask again, where is your leader!¡± Justin was already frustrated with these bandits. The older men ran and one by one were shot down. Leaving the young bandit alone with Justin. ¡°Where is your leader?¡± he said to the young man that was kneeling down in front of him asking for forgiveness. ¡°Please spare me! I just joined up with them because we needed money at home. The boss on the clearing at the other side of this hill on a wagon with the prisoners!¡± he said still kneeling in front of Justin. ¡®Should I spare this poor guy? He looks like he¡¯s telling the truth.¡¯ He then left the guy and faced the direction of where the young bandit said their leader was. Justin saw a man trying to untie some horses on a wagon. The bandit leader was trying to untie the horse from the tree so he could make his escape. ¡®I need to see her just one last time.¡¯ that was on his mind the entire time. The moment his men were decimated by that unknown weapon was the time he realized that all of the thing he has done, and all the decisions he has made since he escaped from prison was all wrong. He needed to go now. He needed to go back home. He after untying the horse from the tree he then proceeded to remove the bindings of the horse and wagon. He couldn¡¯t take the loot with him that would only slow him down so he just took the horse. Inside the wagon the sees the three people they have tied and gagged. He looked at the young adolescent boy that was glaring at him. He unsheathed his knife and approached the boy. He was squealing, but nothing discern-able came from his mouth. So he closed his eyes and hoped for the worst. And the Bandit Leader cut the rope that tied his hands together. He placed the knife beside the boy. The boy looked at him confused. But the bandit just said. ¡°Use the knife to free your father and sister, my time as a bandit has ended, and I must now leave.¡± was the only thing he said and he left the wagon and rode the horse. He was finally going home. Even if what awaits him is death from the Yellow Kingdom¡¯s Soldiers, he would still risk it just to see her again. This was his only chance, and staying here he would just die. Then a loud bang was heard and he fell to the ground. ¡®ehhh? Why did I fall down¡¯ he asked himself and touched his chest. He saw a familiar red color. ¡®so this is how I die, a long way from home. I regret everything that I have done.¡¯ he thought to himself He didn¡¯t enjoy being a bandit. He just wanted a peaceful life before. ¡°Anna my daughter, daddy isn¡¯t coming home.¡± he said, trying his hardest to breath. He was on his way home from work when suddenly a man that was running handed him a bag. The soldiers were chasing after the said man and he called the soldiers so he can give them the bag, the soldiers though arrested him and he was charged with Stealing from a Noble which was punishable by death. The people didn¡¯t listen to his pleas, the same people who used to admire him didn¡¯t even bat an eye when said that it was not him. His young daughter was crying, she was already orphaned to her mother and now his father was also leaving her. ¡°I¡¯ll come back for you Anna I promise!¡± he said to his little girl. ¡°Promise dad! Promise to comeback safe.¡± her daughter said His memories flooded, all the good and bad times that they have spent together. It was his time now. ¡°I¡¯m sorry Anna.¡± he said to himself. ¡°Claire I¡¯m going to where you are now.¡± And with his last breath, the man known as Altair, died unable to see his beloved daughter. Justin then went down the hill and approached the body of the now dead bandit. ¡°Living a life of crime, that¡¯s not even the worst death that you can receive.¡± he said as he closed the man¡¯s eyes. On his hand was a small drawing of a girl and the name Anna written on the bottom. He took it from the man and walked away. Chapter 8: Deals? "fwoooh¡.¡± He puffed on his cigarette while looking at the aftermath of the battle. The soldiers were carrying the bodies of the dead bandits and placing them side by side to form a line. This was a standard procedure in cases like this that bandits were killed to look for any notable individuals. Some bandits were beyond recognition, but most bandits would carry a name tag with them at all times. It was part of their code to bring one so that a priest can conduct their last rights to them. Where their names would be needed for. ¡°Looks like we need to bury most of them.¡± the captain said nonchalantly. ¡°though killing a bandit would let you get a gold reward from a town through the showing of the name tag which most bandits carry, though some tattoo their names in their bodies instead of having a name tag. We would remove the tattooed skin from the body.¡± ¡°That¡¯s... convenient¡¡± Justin replied still smoking. For him those people deserved to die anyway. They wanted to destroy the house and kill him and the soldiers, which he couldn¡¯t accept. Mostly because they threatened the good soldiers. But also because the Landlord might have a heart attack when he comes back and sees his house was destroyed. Still, he didn¡¯t quite regret killing those bandits. Even if some of them were good people, he just couldn¡¯t find any sympathy for someone who would choose a life of crime. He then looked to the direction of the bandits they captured, who were helping the soldiers with carrying their dead. One of which was the young bandit he met earlier. ¡°What would happen to them now?¡± he asked the Captain. ¡°Since they are bandits, and they came here Illegally from Prathea. Law dictates that we must bring them to the nearest town or city to be sent to the gallows and be hanged.¡± he answered. That was something he expected, specially since that was how countries from earth would treat criminals in the past. ¡°how about you let me take care of them for now?¡± he said looking at the bandits. Since he was going to get a title deed for the house and the land surrounding him. He might as well also make the place a small settlement where travelers can stop by between the towns. The location was great and it was between two of the biggest towns in the province. ¡°Tell me sir Justin, how would you do that?¡± he asked the man. He thought for a while, he didn¡¯t actually hate the idea of letting the Captain decide their fates when they turn them over to Lersche¡¯s Barracks. He wanted to make them useful instead. ¡°I was thinking of hiring some of them as workers here. I actually plan on forming a village or settlement here so that travelers can stop by from time to time. And since they are bandits, most of them might have either a [Builder] or [Worker] class since they weren¡¯t born as bandits anyways. And it also acts as a form of penitence for them.¡± he explained. He thought about it, if you do good to someone that has done you bad, it will make the man regret his decisions for the rest of their life. He wasn¡¯t a sadist or anything, for him it was just the right thing to do. ¡°But still you need to go through a few procedures, there are also the fees that must be paid. And you also need to register them as slaves. Though I don¡¯t understand why you would want them as slaves.¡± he answered confused. He didn¡¯t plan to make them slaves, more like workers. Since the Idea of slavery was foreign for him, and was only something that happened long before he was born. ¡°If it¡¯s about the procedures and the fees, I think I can handle that. Since you said those there was bounty for the bandits, and there is also the equipment they have which we can sell.¡± he argued. ¡° And I don¡¯t plan on making anybody a slave, I want to hirethem. And make them functioning individuals of society.¡± The captain was taken aback from his reasoning. It was the first time he heard about someone who wanted to help bandits, though not in the way of helping them in banditry. But more on helping them get out of the life of being criminals. The ideas of Justin felt foreign to the captain at first, but while thinking about it, it was a better way of dealing with them. ¡°Very well then, I will gladly assist you in your venture. When we go to town I will ask Christa to accompany you to the appropriate offices.¡± the captain said with a nod goodbye. He dropped the burn out cigarette butt on his portable ashtray. He could¡¯ve just dropped it on the ground and step on it, but he loved how green the grass was. Though a few holes from the exploded arrows were here and there were seen. And also the occasional blood and guts of the dead littered the place. Those would just be used by the earth to heal anyway. ¡°Status.¡±

He was now level 18, and he gained a new Class and Sub-class. He also had 3 Skill Points. Maybe he would add more to his luck. He thought to himself. He then took another cigarette out from the pack and lit it again. He wished there were also cigarettes in this world. He then walked back to the house. In the backyard, the Old merchant and his children, along with some wounded soldiers were resting. Christa was handing out some food to them while they sat on the pavement. It was around a few minutes passed midnight, but the air was not cold. Maybe it was because of the heat from the torches, or the heat from the battle that ended only a few minutes earlier. The Old man thanked the gods that his children were unharmed. He might be a merchant, but he wasn¡¯t that rich. Most people thought of the [Merchant] class as people who have a lot of money to waste, but this was far from truth. He was born in a rundown village away from the Kingdom¡¯s capital, and life was tough. But he strove to get by, and eventually he moved out of the village to pursue the career as a merchant. When he was in his late forties, he met the love of his life and decided to stay in her home town. His in-laws hated him, but what could they have done? She was already pregnant with their child. So they just let them be. He thought that maybe his life has already gotten better since his time in his home village. But after giving birth to their second child, his wife fell ill. He sold most of their belongings and almost neglected his business, until eventually his business was closed and his money all dried up. Asking help from his in-laws, he was able to get his wife back into shape, but that came with a cost. His wife was held captive by her parents because they deemed him unworthy of being her husband. And he and his children were forced to leave the town. He didn¡¯t have any money when he was leaving. But through the help of some of his friends, he was able to get them some supplies and goods that they could sell. and since then they have became travelers. Kingdom to kingdom, town to town, village to village, they traveled trying to find money. And after ten long years they came back to the town where is wife was. But when he knocked on the door an unknown man opened the door with his wife held in his arms. His wife has married another man. He never came back and just tried to give his children a better future. He was handed a bowl of soup by the Young female mage. They just heated the left over soup, but the man was grateful nonetheless. ¡°Thank you young miss.¡± he said and proceeded to drink the soup from the bowl. His son though was just staring at the bowl, he was still a bit shaken up from the ordeal. If it wasn¡¯t for the bandit¡¯s mistake of trying to attack this house, they would¡¯ve become slave, or worse dead. The thought of seeing his sister being a plaything for a bandit or noble gave him a stomachache. ¡°don¡¯t worry son were safe now, though I must say this might be a sign from the gods for me to settle down somewhere. I think we should try to buy some land in Lersche. Would you like that?¡± the Old man said to his children. ¡°If you would like to father, I actually like Lersche a lot. And there are a lot of places to go to.¡± his daughter answered, unlike her brother, she looked calm. She needed to stay calm so that his brother wouldn¡¯t try to take on any of the bandits earlier. If she cried is brother might be enraged, so she just cried deep inside. ¡°Yeah we can just stay in Lersche! I also met a nice girl there before and we would meet up everytime we go the¡¡± His sister punched him in the shoulder. ¡°...what did you do that for?¡± he retorted. ¡°I just felt the urge to do it.¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°Ah! Stop that now, our host is here.¡± The old merchant said, making his children stop from quarreling. Justin then approached the man while still smoking his cigarette. The Old merchant was eyeing him while he was approaching. ¡°Greetings kind sir, thank you for saving me and my children from those bandits.¡± he said to the man in front of him while bowing down. His children then followed suit. Justin though didn¡¯t like seeing people bow down so low to him. ¡°Stop bowing old man, I am but a simple man, and only to gods and royals should one bown down so low like you and your children just did.¡± ¡°Thank you Sir, if you would accept this as a small token of our appreciation, we would be grateful.¡± the man said while handing a bag of coins. He had hidden the bag inside the sole of his boot and planned to use it only in emergencies. Justin hesitated. ¡°...Old man, it¡¯s fine. I just did the right thing. But I have a proposition for you.¡± ¡°What would you like this Old Merchant to do with you sir?¡± said the merchant. Though he was their saviour, he didn¡¯t know how his mind worked and was still weary. ¡°Would you like to work for me? Your children included. I plan on making a small village in this area, and I am currently looking for some people who can help me achieve that.¡± he explained. A merchant was a good addition for him, since he knew how to handle people more than him. The Merchant thought about it, he was old, and he already planned to settle down now. He looked to his daughter and she smiled. She agreed on taking the chances with this man. ¡°What¡¯s in it for us then!?¡± his son asked the man. ¡°Hush boy! This man saved our lives!¡± ¡°I¡¯m sorry for my brother¡¯s behaviour sir.¡± ¡°it¡¯s fine, I understand that he might be worried about a few things, but if you would, I¡¯d like to explain the details.¡± he answered. ¡°Well then can I have your names then?¡± ¡°Oh, my name is Rodrick sir.¡± ¡°I¡¯m Aileena.¡± ¡°Fredrick.¡± ¡°I will then explain what work you would do. For Mr. Rodrick, I plan to make him my right hand man, since he looks like the person who can deal with people more diplomatically.¡± he explained. ¡°miss Aileena may I ask you what your classes and sub-classes are?¡± he then asked. ¡°I have the [Chef] class with a [House Cook] sub-class, and the [Worker] class with a [Cleaner] sub-class.¡± she replied. ¡°I should take you in as the cook then. You can manage to cook for a lot of people right?¡± ¡°Yes, I can manage.¡± ¡°Great! Then for young Fred, you could just help your sister then.¡± ¡°Okay?¡¡± Fredrick answered. ¡°So there are other men that will also work with us sir?¡± the old man then asked ¡°Yes I plan on taking in some men that want to find work, there would be a lot of work to be done to make this place into a thriving village. And the first thing we need are more men.¡± he said. ¡°Okay sir, we agree.¡± he then shook their hands. He turned back, and walked away while lighting another cigarette. ¡°That guy seems nice, but what was that thing he was puffing with that made smoke?¡± his son asked him. ¡°And he smelled weird too.¡± the daughter added. ¡°That kids is called tobacco, though it looked smaller than the ones I have seen. I met a few people smoke it, It¡¯s quite expensive actually. A leaf of that would cost a gold coin.¡± he explained. He looked at the back of the man, he really did look like a nice guy. And he offered them to work for him and stay there. But still who is this man anyway? He can just wonder. Christa was listening in on their conversations. She was surprised by the decisions made by Justin. She was curious why this mas has made such decisions. Even the cardinal didn¡¯t give people such offers, and when she heard from the captain that he planned to take in some captured bandits as workers she was genuinely surprised. She has only known him a few hours ago, and she could tell that he was a honest to goodness man. But he also had this brutality in him that made him able to kill those bandits without regrets. She saw first hand when he casually shot the bandit leader and took something from him, she didn¡¯t ask about it. But there was only one word that came up to her mind to describe the man. Dangerous But even with those thoughts she wondered about Justin. Just where did he come from and what is his purpose? Was he born in this world to change it? Was it for the good of humanity or it¡¯s fall? For now she could just watch. A few minutes later, Justin called the bandits that were captured. He was with the captain and Christa. Most of the bandits looked tough and had a lot of scars, new and old. They looked like they¡¯ve been to countless battles, a few even had some missing fingers. ¡°As you all know, you are now prisoners of the Marthean Army. And by law you would most likely be hanged in the city where your bodies will be hung on the gates.¡± he said, his tone was intimidating. ¡°But if you would accept my proposition, I would like you to work with me. I plan to start building a settlement here that would become a village, or maybe even a town or city. But I would need some helping hands. And there¡¯s where you come in. If you swear to me and to the gods that you would help me as I helped you then you would be forgiven for your transgression with me. Step forward of you want to change your lives.¡± he said to the men. 4 younger bandits then stepped forward along with a single man, the others didn¡¯t move and just smirked and sported a smug look facing him. ¡°Christa if you may.¡± The Mage then stepped front of them. ¡°Though this spell is used only for slaves to avoid them from hurting their masters, we have decided to cast this spell to each and everyone of you because you might cause trouble with Sir Justin.¡± she said and she chanted a spell. ¡°Jistrathar a sular tasarak, locitum maldifidii akula, for my name is Christa, grant me this request.¡± A ray of light then shone above their heads and a mark was branded in the back of their left hands as a sign of the seal. ¡°The seal prevents you from doing anything bad to sir Justin while under him, if in any instance that some of you try to hurt him, the seal will activate and incapacitate you. After that your fates will be decided by him.¡± Christa explained ¡°However if you show that you are willing to work for me, I asked Christa to dis-spell the seals and let you continue working from there on out.¡± he added. The men were happy for the turn of events. Their lives have just been saved by the man, and they were thankful for it. To them Justin was like a saviour. ¡°Well then if that¡¯s been taken care of, the five of you shall be sleeping in my tent, but you will still be guarded by my men. Don¡¯t even try doing anything funny or we might as well send you to the gallows of Lersche.¡± the captain then added. The men nodded and were escorted by some soldiers to the Captain¡¯s tent. The other bandits though were tied to a tree. It¡¯s been a long day for Justin. When he was working, he didn¡¯t op for overtime and it since made him unable to function after a long day of work. He¡¯s tired now and he felt sticky from all the moving around he made. The black army suit didn¡¯t even help either since it was a bit hot wearing it. He lead the Merchant and his children to the Living room where he placed a foam comforter and a few pillows and blankets for them to sleep in. He bid them goodnight and went to lead the captain and Christa to their own rooms. ¡°That looks like a soft bed Justin! It¡¯s been a while since I have slept in a soft bed! Thank you!¡± said the captain, he closed the door and said goodnight. Christa on the other hand just nodded and closed the door to hers. Well it¡¯s time for him to sleep now, he went upstairs, removed his clothes and lay on bed. In a span of hours he has killed some men, made deals with people and successfully saved the house from being destroyed. ¡°What an eventful day.¡± he mused as he closed his eyes. He then remembered he needed a bath. ¡°Fuck¡¡± Interlude: The Underworld The bandit was running to give news to his boss about the incident, he was one of the men that Altair escaped with from prison, and also one of his men.but was also a spy for the true leader of the group. Since the beginning, Altair was just a scapegoat, a distraction for people while the real ones who hold the power were getting rich. He was chosen by the Leader as a pawn. He needed to give the report to him right away, a devastating weapon was used against them, and completely eliminated their band of thieves. ¡°The boss told me to report anything suspicious like ths.¡± he thought, as he reached the gates of Lersche. Two guard were currently guarding the gate, one was familiar while the other seems to be a new recruit. ¡°Halt, who goes there.¡± the guard asked ¡°Let him though Jarlmond.¡± the older of the two said, which the younger man obliged. After the man has been a few feet away. ¡°That guy works for the Subterrano, we wouldn¡¯t live tomorrow if we tried to stop him.¡± the older man said. He hated the idea of letting a criminal to his beloved city, but who was he anyways? Jarlmond was just a young man, and was just a new recruit to the town¡¯s guard. And didn¡¯t hold any power. ¡°That¡¯s just wrong¡¡± was the only thing he said. Sulking about his uselessness. ¡°...Don¡¯t let it get to you too much, who knows how many spies are around us right now. Just let it be, and don¡¯t try to be a hero, because heroes have power, and we don¡¯t have power.¡± The old man retorted. They just watched the bandit from behind. ¡®that young guard is dangerous, I must tell the boss about him too.¡¯ the bandit said to himself. Reaching the building where the boss was, he was greeted by a familiar man. ¡°Why it isn¡¯t Mandrak, here to give a report? How¡¯s that Bandit Leader of yours?¡± the Bulky man asked. ¡°That¡¯s why I¡¯m here, Altair, and most of the group are dead or captured.¡± he answered. The Bulky man was wide eyed. And quickly ran with Mandrak to the boss¡¯ room. He knocked the door and it was opened by the one of the boss¡¯ personal guard. ¡°The boss is busy Leandro¡¡± he said ¡°Just let him in, he wouldn¡¯t have knocked like that if it wasn¡¯t an emergency.¡± the man inside shouted. He let the the men in, inside was an a middle aged man, around 40 years of age and had a balding head. He wore a bath robe made of the finest silk and was in the bed with two women by his side, they were the daughters of men who had debts and didn¡¯t pay in time. ¡°Ah, Mandrak! You¡¯re a bit early this week, did something happened?¡± the boss said. ¡°Sorry boss, Altair and most of the band are dead, a few captured.¡± The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident. ¡°What? How could that be? Only that blasted Captain Valen and his men were in that area, they couldn¡¯t have been the ones to attack you right? How did that happen!¡± ¡°We were attacking Traveling merchants and killed their guards, but one of the Army¡¯s soldiers passed by and saw us, so some of the men chased him. They came upon a house in the Valark Meadows, where the Captain and his men were camped out around It¡¯s walls on. It was the first time I saw a house there. The Captain and his men were trapped inside the house and we attacked it but suddenly there was explosions every where and most of the men died from that, then a few other men suddenly had their heads exploded and died in the spot. I quickly ran to a hill and stayed on top of a tree where I watched as the few remaining men either killed, escaped or captured. I ran as quickly as I can afterwards.¡± he explained. Explosions? He¡¯s only heard that a few mages with sound magic can decimate a army like that, but none of the mages he knows are in the province. Was there an error? The only mage that the Captain had was a female cleric, she couldn¡¯t have killed them right? He was thinking about it, what could have decimated the bandit group? That was on his mind. ¡°Okay Mandrak, for now, go find a new potential bandit leader.¡± the Boss then said. ¡°There was also another matter that I was going to say boss.¡± ¡°What!¡± ¡°Well¡ there was that new guard at the gates earlier, I think he¡¯s dangerous.¡± he said. ¡°Hah! Young men have hot blood, just leave them be, they will all cool down after a few months, if not we could ask some of our contacts in the army to have him be recruited to the front lines. If there is nothing else, go.¡± The men then got out of the room. ¡°Vasil, kindly take these girls to their rooms and lock the door, I need to do something.¡± he then said. He was now alone in the room, of so other would¡¯ve thought. ¡°Kyura, come out.¡± he said. Suddenly a woman wearing a black ninja suit suddenly showed up beside his bed. ¡°Things look interesting right, mr. Leader?¡± she said mockingly. ¡°Stop dilly dallying, the Governor needs to know about this, his bandit ¡®distraction¡¯ was just eliminated, go tell him now Kyura.¡± he ordered. ¡°Alright, alright, I¡¯ll go, how about Mandrak, what do you want me to do with him.¡± she asked. ¡°Just leave him be, let pawns be pawns, we could just have another man replace him if he fails in finding a new Bandit Leader.¡± he answered. The female ninja then disappeared and he was finally left alone in his room. Was there and error in his calculation? He knew that the bandits would¡¯ve engaged the Captain and his company, and knew that the bandit¡¯s would¡¯ve won because of their superior numbers, but something just didn¡¯t add up. Was there someone or something he didn¡¯t know? He could just speculate. Maybe there was something in that house in the meadows, some kind of magical weapon, or a mage? He didn¡¯t know, but he knew that it was a problem. There was a knock on his door, and Vasil came in. ¡°Mi lord.¡± Vasil said ¡°Vasil, I want you to personally go to that house in the meadows, I want to know who or what is there that was able to destroy those bandits.¡± he ordered, Vasil then bowed and went out. ¡®The governor wasn¡¯t going to be happy to hear this¡¯ The governor was currently inside his room, reading reports from his spies that were delivered by his most trusted aides. ¡°Looks like Valen sent a messenger to Captain Ishvala of Stromwind Company, the bandits are going to have a hard time then if they come help Captain Valen.¡± he said to himself He hated Captain Valen, he was a dangerous man. He was one of the men who he couldn¡¯t control. He hated him since he was sent here. The governor was a noble from Aldrain, since the kingdom was formed, their family were already nobles of the Province, but due to the kingdoms reforms in stripping the nobles from positions of power, noble families, including his has felt the damage. After his family was stripped of the title of Baron of the province, he made his way back up to claim the position of Governor, which he still holds up until now. ¡°Master, I have an emergency to report.¡± a female rouge said as she suddenly appeared beside him. It¡¯s was just Kyura, his best rouge, she and her family were rouges that served the governor¡¯s family since the olden days. They were almost disbanded by the king, because of the king¡¯s policy of removing private armies and groups controlled by Nobles. The only reason for them not being disbanded was because they were only known inside the inner circle of the family. ¡°Kyura, what is it now?¡± ¡°Well I would like to report that the Bandits were just eliminated, only a few have survived and some captured.¡± He was stunned, how could that measly company destroy that bandit group? ¡°what the fuck happened? Tell me Kyura.¡± he asked Kyura then detailed the report said by Mandrak. He was shocked, he never heard of anyone who made a house in that area. And something that they found there was able to destroy the bandits, he needed to be careful for anything. ¡°You are dismissed then Kyura.¡± he said Kyura then wrapped her arms around the Governor and kissed his cheek. ¡°C¡¯mon Suna, cheer up, we can still manage to get the Captain killed. Nothing can stop us now from reclaiming the family¡¯s power.¡± she the exclaimed. To him she was the most beautiful girl, he has loved him since they were children, but he can¡¯t marry someone of her status. She was a subordinate, and she was only half human. He then kissed her back in the lips and she started to undress, her tail then poked out and he started stroking the tail. ¡°...Nyaahn!!¡± she said, she was now aroused. ¡°Kyura, I love you, and if I am able to get more power, I will become the next head of the family. My Eldest brother is in the front-lines and I plan on getting him killed when he comes back to claim his right to be the head. And no one will question me for choosing you as my wife.¡± he said while caressing the half human, half cat-woman that was with him. The rogue was elated, she really wanted to be his wife, and he her husband. But for that to work, Suna needed to become the head of the house. His father was already old and bedridden, and has paid one of the nurses that take care of him to slowly poison his meals, and as such, his health has steadily declined. ¡°i¡¯ve heard the your father is now slowly dying, one of my sisters said that he was coughing blood last week.¡± she said ¡°Well that¡¯s just how the poison works, I don¡¯t know what its called, but it looks harmless, and he doesn¡¯t even notice a thing.¡± he said as he laid on top of her and they enjoyed their night away. Chapter 9: Lersche? Justin was currently walking along side Captain Valen and Christa with a few of the soldiers on their way to Lersche. He was smoking a ciggy which some of the soldiers were looking at, they¡¯ve never seen a lot of people smoking before. And he still hasn¡¯t had the chance to take a bath, he felt a bit dirty. Earlier¡. ¡°...Justin¡± He was lying on Christa¡¯s lap, it was soft and she smelled so nice. ¡°...Justin!¡± ¡°What¡¯s wrong Christa?¡± ¡°Justin!!¡± He the woke up, still a bit groggy, and he was greeted with the smiling face of Captain Valen ¡°Rise and shine Justin! I¡¯ve been thinking, since we were attacked, and you wanted to come to Lersche, we might as well go now. I¡¯ve sent scouts yesterday to report to the Garrison command, but I still need to report there in person. Most of my men will stay here and guard while they wait for us to comeback, so don¡¯t worry about it too much. The bandits will be transported to Lersche when we come back with reinforcements.¡± ¡®ahhh it was just a dream, why did I have a dream like that anyway?¡¯ he asked himself. ¡°well okay, I just need to take a bath and get ready then.¡± he answered as he looked at the captain who smirked again. ¡°About the water¡ We used it earlier to wash your so called backyard since there was blood in the paved area¡¡± he replied in a playful tone. ¡°What?!¡± ¡°Sorry if I took the liberty on using the water, but I ordered my men to refill it later, so just take a bath later, time is of the essence.¡± ¡°.¡¡± The captain then left and was laughing on his way out. ¡®goddamn captain and his schedule, just need to deal with it for now I suppose¡¯ He looked through the walk in closet and took a pair of denim jeans and a leather coat. ¡®I guess I better take the stab-proof vest with me, though I don¡¯t actually believe it to be stab-proof.¡¯ he thought. He then took out the bag that was under the bed which he used the day before and holstered his revolver and opened the door. ¡°Good morning Justin.¡±Christa greeted ¡°...good morning¡¡± he answered, he still felt kinda excited from his dream earlier. ¡®she really is cute, but she¡¯s a cleric! Dammit..¡¯ ¡°...is there something wrong Justin?¡± Christa asked ¡°...Oh it¡¯s nothing, just still a bit sleepy. Never mind me Christa.¡± he answered. ¡°Oi if you love birds are done, Aileena has cooked a deer our hunters caught earlier. Come down.¡± the captain suddenly shouted from the other side of the stairs where they were. ¡°...love birds?!¡± Christa said startled. She was a bit angry, went down and left me. Well that was nice. We had food and we went our merry way¡ Christa was still a bit angry, but who cares if she¡¯s angry. I still haven¡¯t have a bath! And back to now¡ Sigh¡ Moving through the road, his scenery change and he saw there was a lot more people that they passed by, the area they were around now were full of rice fields left and right and there were a few houses here and there and people were working on the said fields. He noticed that most of them were demi-humans, mostly men and women with dog ears and some with cat ears. ¡°Though we are a Human kingdom, most people who work the fields as farmers are demi-humans who immigrated here from the south and north, escaping slavery. Though not all of the farmers and farm workers are demi-humans, humans don¡¯t really like working in the fields you know.¡± the Captain exclaimed. The humans who noticed them bowed down to the captain and greeted them, some demi-humans did too, but some just glared at them passing by. ¡°So¡ why are some of them glaring at us captain? Do some of them hate humans?¡± Justin asked. ¡°Some demi-humans still hate the army due to the events that happened around 20 years ago when the former Baron of Aldrain was said to have tried to destroy several demi-human settlements that were around the area before. Though it was just a rumor, most of the demi-humans still hold some kind of grudge to the army. Since it was the former captain Murkushu who was responsible for it. He was tried and executed, but not before he claimed that the he was order by the baron.¡± he explained. ¡°The king then ordered all of the Nobles who were holding power in the provinces to be stripped of their titles as Barons, Baroness¡¯ and Governors. And had their Private Armiesand Groups dismantled, though some might have survived to this day, but we don¡¯t know.¡± Christa added. Justin then looked at a young cat demi-human that was helping her mother in a field. ¡°Why would someone attack something so cute.¡± he said ¡°Hahaha! You¡¯re a weird one Justin.¡± the Captain then exclaimed. ¡°What¡¯s so funny Captain?¡± he then asked. ¡°Well though there are people who are half man and half demi-human. Most don¡¯t look at them in the same light as some of us. People tend to call them half breedsand have a certain level of hate for them. I don¡¯t know why, but they say that the gods never wanted our species to procreate with each other, though the church never said such a thing. Maybe it was because nobles hated the idea of having to share blood with people they deemed as mutts or if I may quote the words of the former Baron Filthy Animals.¡± he answered. ¡°The church sees acts like that as evil. We are all the creations of the gods, and thus we are all important in our own way. The Baron was never charged for his hand on the killings of the settlements. He¡¯s still alive and staying in his estate near in Lersche, though there are some who work there that say he¡¯s body is failing.¡± the Mage added. ¡°And I¡¯ve never pictured you, Sir Justin, as a person who was attracted to a demi-human.¡± she then remarked. If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Well he did see them as cute, and when he was younger he wanted to go to the Neko-maid cafe in the city. But was it enough to call it attraction? Well maybe it was, he did have imaginations about having a date with a Eruru from Utawarerumono. She was really cute. ¡°Well I do fancy them, but I don¡¯t think any girl would like me.¡± If there was one thing he wasn¡¯t confident about it was his looks, to him he was just Normal. He hasn¡¯t even had a girlfriend for 8 years now. he did try to meet with girls, but he was never able to have a relationship in the city. ¡°Don¡¯t say that Justin, you¡¯re as good looking as me! And I have a wife and 3 girls!¡± the Captain said. ¡°Wait¡ you have a wife? And children?¡± Justin remarked. ¡°Yeah! My youngest just turned 10 last month! They live in Lersche, maybe you can meet them after were done with our errands. And if you want you I can have one of my men accompany you to the bath house in town. I just had a feeling you really wanted to have a bath.¡± the captain then suggested. ¡°Or would you want to go with Christa.¡± he added. ¡°Captain stop that, I am a woman of the Church, and we have taken an oath of Celibacy. If I ever break that oath, I can never forgive myself.¡± Christa said ¡°Says the one who has a collection of romance novels in her storage.¡± the Captain said mockingly. ¡°How did you know that?!¡± ¡°I have my secrets you have yours¡ well maybe It¡¯s not a secret anymore then. ¡°.¡¡± ¡°well let¡¯s talk about that later, were here.¡± In the distance they see the gates of Lersche, huge was an understatement to describe the town. It was similar to a walled city, with guard towers that were around its walls and at it¡¯s gates where wagons of farmers and merchants. ¡°The town is huge!¡± ¡°Yes, it is. But still not as grand as the Capital, maybe you¡¯d like to go there sometime Justin.¡± ¡®I might find a way to go home from the capital! Maybe there is some kind of arch-mage or maybe even a portal to get there! I¡¯ll ask someone to take me there after things get better here.¡¯ The people made way for their group to go through ¡®maybe soldiers had this kind of privilege? It¡¯s convenient.¡¯ he thought to himself. Upon reaching the gate they were greeted by a bulky man, he had a scar on his face that started from above his right eye to his right cheek almost touching his lips. He nice chain linked armor and had a shortsword sheathed on his hip. ¡°Greetings Captain, I¡¯ve heard news of the attack, and I already ordered my men to get ready to move out, I expected you to come, so I thought that you would like to bring them with you back. I heard there was a house there, might this guy be the owner?¡± The Bulky man said. ¡°This one, is Justin, he¡¯s not the owner, more like a tenant. The house was magically transported there, but we didn¡¯t find any sign of tampering in the area to conclude that he was responsible.¡± Captain Valen answered. ¡°Wait when did you investigate about the house traveling?¡± Justin said. ¡°It was around the time you asked me and Christa to your so called living room, she was using a skill to look into it.¡± ¡°...¡± ¡°Sorry, but we couldn¡¯t trust you completely that fast you know.¡± ¡°And we just wanted to investigate a bit, and wanted to confirm some stuff about the supposed traveling of the house.¡± ¡°it¡¯s fine then, no problem.¡± Justin said ¡®ffs they could¡¯ve just told me!¡¯ he wasn¡¯t too happy though. ¡°Well if you guys are done, lets get you inside! Will the captain go immediately to report to the Commander?¡± The burly man said and the captain looked at me and Christa. ¡°Yeah I will, Christa take care of Justin for now, take him to the Land Registry to have the area named after him, and go to the Provincial Office to register it as a settlement.¡± said the Captain. They both nodded and went their merry way. The town was packed, it looked like a very lively city, various merchants and people were walking. There were dog people, cat people and even the occasional elf. Elves seem to not like to go out of the woods, but some probably go out to buy and sell stuff that might not be found in the Elven cities. A few soldiers would pass them by and they just ignore them, Justin then notices a weird shop in the corner of the block. ¡°That store, what does that store sell?¡± he asked Christa who was in front of him and looked at the store. ¡°That¡¯s one of the Nobles goods stores, they sell stuff that nobles would like to have like some of the more expensive spices, tobacco and the best silks in the city.¡± ¡®did she just say tobacco?¡¯ ¡°Can we go there first? Do they also have cigarettes there?¡± he asked the mage. She nodded and they went inside of the store, the store was filled with silks of different colors, an aisle with a different kinds of spices and a box of weird dried lizards which are used as medicine for various illnesses. ¡°Welcome Sir, what can I do for you.¡± asked the man who was in the counter. ¡°Do you have any cigarettes?¡± Justin said ¡°We only have a few boxes left, since only a few people actually use that stuff, how much do you need?¡± ¡°I¡¯ll take it all.¡± The Clerk was stunned, he looked at Justin who just smirked, he then looked at Christa who sighed. ¡°Well¡ that would be around 25 gold coins then, since we only have 5 boxes of it left.¡± ¡°How about a discount, I plan on buying these every time I come to the town, and I would like to bulk buy these.¡± ¡°Well since you put it like that, ill give it to you for 20 gold then, is that okay?¡± ¡°Okay that¡¯s fine.¡± The clerk took out 5 boxes of cigarettes and placed it down on the counter, Justin then handed him 20 gold and placed the cigarettes in his back pack. ¡°Thank you sir, come again.¡± The duo then headed out back to the streets and made their way to the Registry office and had the land named after him. They also went to the provincial office and registered the place as a settlement. ¡°What would you like the place to be named as?¡± the old office worker asked him He thought about it, maybe something fancy, or maybe something based out of mythology. After a while to blurted out a word. ¡°Paraiso.¡± And thus the Paraiso Settlement was born. They spent 1 platinum coin for all of the registration and fees that were needed. Justin felt like his wallet was almost empty. He only took a bit of money since he was afraid of pick pockets. ¡°Why do you seem a bit down?¡± Christa asked ¡°I only brought a bit of money, i thought it wouldn¡¯t be that expensive you know.¡± ¡°It¡¯s okay, the expensive part has ended anyways. And the captain will give you money from the bandit kills too.¡± ¡®oh yeah, there was that, maybe I can get a nice sum for that.¡¯ he thought to himself. ¡°Speaking of which, there¡¯s the Captain. Captain!¡± she then yelled at the captain who noticed the duo. The captain noticed them and went over to them. He was alone now and was now carrying a bag. ¡°So how was your day? Did it go as expected?¡± he asked Christa ¡°Yes, seems like you had a good haul there Cap.¡± She said ¡°Looks like that bandit leader he killed was actually worth a nice sum of money, and with the added bonus of the other bandits, they gave a nice bonus. Justin do you like to receive your reward?¡± ¡°If the Captain said so, I will, since I spent a lot on the registrations.¡± ¡°Hahahaha you didn¡¯t expect it to be expensive huh? Well well good thing I got us the reward for the bandits, you actually get more than half of it, what¡¯s left will be divided between me and my men, and Christa too.¡± ¡°how much are we talking about?¡± Justin said ¡°The Bandit leader was worth 5 platinum coins, and since you killed around 30 men, which is 2 gold and 50 silvers each, well you do the math.¡± ¡®that¡¯s a lot of money then haha!¡¯ They met up with the other soldiers that were stationed in the garrison that will accompany them back. ¡°looks like we have a lot of people that will come with us.¡± Justin exclaimed ¡°Yeah the garrison lent us 50 men just so we can securely go back there, since the commander told me that there were more bandits around the area other than Altair.¡± the captain explained. ¡®there were more bandits?¡¯ he thought to himself ¡®since there are more coming back with us, I might as well ask them to carry some stuff I plan to buy.¡¯ ¡°Captain.¡± He said ¡°I plan on buying some meat and vegetables, and bring it back with us, can I ask the men from the garrison to help carry the stuff?¡± he then asked. The captain was thinking about it. ¡°Might as well make them hahaha! Very well.¡± the captain then looked at a young man in the ranks. ¡°You there, come here and escort Sir Justin to the Market to buy some food, and ask four more to help carry what he needs.¡± he ordered. ¡°Yes Captain!¡± ¡°Come to the Northern gate when you¡¯re done okay?¡± the Captain said and the Soldier nodded. Then there were now five of them who walked to the Market. The young man who the captain called was a bit nervous, maybe because he was with a certain man, or maybe because he was just new to the job and given such a task. ¡°You seem nervous, chillax man.¡± Justin said at the man. ¡°Sorry Sir, it¡¯s my first time being ordered to escort someone of your stature, though I have never heard of your name before, you have a different aura from other people so I thought of you as a Noble.¡± Justin laughed at the statement. ¡°...seems like a lot of people do think of me as a noble, but alas I am not, though I am a Scholar, as well as cook and a warrior, I am not a noble, and only own a small settlement in the Valark Meadows. May I know your name?¡± ¡°My name is Jarlmond sir.¡± he said Justin smiled. He really wanted to make friends so this was a nice experience. Maybe he can also hire this guy as a guard at home! After an hour they have procured a lot of supplies, in total they bought 10 kilos of dried beef, 5 pairs of chickens, 10 kilos of salted meat, a pair of goats a few bottles of spices, some beer and a few baskets of vegetables. Oh and there was also a wagon, since they couldn¡¯t haul all of the stuff back by hand. When they reached the Gate the Captain looked surprised by all of the stuff they hauled back. ¡°Looks like you¡ bought a lot Sir Justin, tell me what do you expect to do with that?¡± the captain asked. ¡°I plan on making an inn outside the house, but for now I think will just let any travelers that pass by have a bite to eat near the house, so I bought some food, cost me a platinum and some gold, but it¡¯s all preserved so it would last some time.¡± he explained. ¡°And Captain can I ask you a favor?¡± ¡°Sure.¡± ¡°Can you also build me an Inn?¡± he said ¡°Well my men might be able to make a few fortifications here and there, but an Inn is out of our level.¡± he said and looked at Jarlmond ¡°Kid, get me a [Contractor] will ya?¡± he order the young soldier, Jarlmond nodded and went to find a contractor. A few minutes passed and he came back with an elderly man accompanied by two younger men. ¡°This is the best [Contractor] in town, and he said that since there were not any government project to be made, he was free for a few months.¡± Jarlmond said to the Captain and Justin. ¡°Greetings sir, I am Sepperil Thorton, and these are my sons Humfrey and Hermsley. The young soldier said that you needed workers for an Inn outside the city so we came to meet with you.¡± the old Contractor said to Justin ¡°Well I plan on making an Inn with a bar, eater and kitchen on the first floor, and a few rooms that would suit pairs or even parties at the second floor, how much would something like that cost me?¡± he asked. The trio then huddled together, all crunching up numbers and then faced Justin. ¡°It would cost around 2500 gold, but it would take us sometime to gather men, maybe we could just come to the location on a later date, is that okay for you sir?¡± the old man explained. ¡°Sure that will be reasonable, thank you.¡± he replied. The trio then went back to the town while they headed out back to the Meadow. ¡°Seems like this has been a good day, right Christa?¡± Justin asked the mage that was beside her. ¡°Yes, it sure looks like it¡ wait what is that up ahead?¡± Christa said and pointed at a large plume of smoke that was out in the direction of the fields. ¡°That¡¯s a fire!¡± One soldier who notice shouted ¡°There might be a bandit raid there! Hurry up men lets go!¡± the Captain ordered and they ran towards the unknown. Unbeknownst to them, there was someone who was following them. Chapter 10: Gobs? The Goblin Chieftain was holding a piece of meat he has taken from one of the dead animal¡¯s corpse. It was tasty, the blood gave it a nice smell and a different flavour that was a nice change from the game meat he had everyday. ¡°Hey Glok how is the raid going?¡± he asked one of his serfs ¡°Its going great my chieftain, we have already set fire to their fields and have taken a lot of their so called ¡®live stock¡¯, I still don¡¯t understand these pink skins and those furries, why would they eat leaves when they have a lot of meat?¡± the goblin answered. To the Chieftain and other goblins, People and other sentient civilizations seemed stupid, except for the meat eaters. Why would the pink skins who call them selves humans eat something that animals would eat? And they even claim that they are more civilized? For them that was a joke. ¡°Good, those guys never have seen it coming, it was a good thing we attacked a few hours before those pink skins will send a patrol to the area.¡± The goblins from his tribe regarded him as a genius, the strongest goblin in the land excelling both in Intelligence and Strength. They controlled a vast land and many of the lesser tribes have been gradually absorbed by their group. But to the [Chieftain], he was more of a revolutionary. He was once only a lowly warrior in the tribe, but through many killings and ambushing travelers, he had made a name for himself and in time he disposed of the former chieftain and since then none have challenged him. He made many changes to the ways the tribe functioned, before the tribes only had two armed groups. There was the raiding group that would attack settlements and villages, and a guard group that would defend their village from external enemies, be it monsters and other goblins. He studied how humans and other civilizations worked, he saw that the reasons the humans have always defeated them was because of their formations and superior weaponry. The latter of which is something a goblin has knowledge of, but because he had a close eye on the tactics of the human soldiers, he incorporated it to his forces. He made a few new groups, one was called the Wolf-riders which he made after he tamed a pack of wolves, he was able to make the perfect shock troops that were able to shock enemies into disarray and was their first attackers. The second group he made was the Archery line, prior to this the only ranged weapons they had were crude javelins, but seeing humans use bows, he made his first prototype of a goblinese bow and from then his men have adopted the usage of the bow. But the most important of all of his work was the making of their own mage group. For goblins, magic was very rare, and in their tribe there were only a few individuals that were able to use magic, and only one was able to use magic that was above tier 1. Human armies always had atleast a few mages, so he tried to make his few magic casters to atleast learn higher tier magic, and in time they all knew atleast the tier 1 [Fireball] and tier 2 [Fire blade] which was a good addition to their forces. After that he attacked many other goblin tribes in his area, he has killed many other [Chieftains] and absorbed all their members. The next thing he plans was to burn as many human and demi human settlements and villages as they can, because that was the most fun thing a goblin can do. And it¡¯s seeing things made by others burn to the ground. ¡®hahahaha¡¯ This was a great day for his tribe, the time was right to attack the humans. In time they will outnumber the humans and will rebuild the fallen Goblin Kingdom. Though goblins don¡¯t have any written history, they had a unique skill that made them able to gain a bit of knowledge from their ancestors. With him absorbing other tribes, their knowledge was pooled into him and he had pieced out some vital information about the former Goblin Kingdom. ¡®no one and nothing can stop us from doing this¡¯ BANG!!! There was a sudden bang heard from the distance, the [Chieftain] saw a small band of soldiers that were running to their direction. ¡®those stupid pink skins will die! We outnumber that measly party¡¯ ¡°Attack those humans! Kill them all and give me their heads!¡± the Chieftain said ¡°Ooooohhhhhhh!!!¡± all Goblins The goblins rush to the humans who were also rushing to attack them. The humans were advancing using a tight circle formation with their swords and spears ready to attack, while the goblins were in a very wide formation that allowed them to maneuver better than the human force. In a few moments the goblins have encircled the humans who are now defending themselves. ¡°Men don¡¯t falter, there only goblins, we can kill them!¡± the Captain said which raised the morale of the men. ¡°Hah! Humans, we outnumber you and you expect to leave here alive? You will all die and we will attack more villages after! Gobs attack them.¡± the Chieftain order. The goblins ran and their bodies clashed against the soldiers swords and shields. Though some of them died, the goblins still rushed and still collided against them. Which gave the soldiers quite a scare, even though they are soldiers, they are only conscripts and most of them have only been conscripted recently. ¡°Arghhh¡± a soldier shouted as a goblin bit his arm. ¡°Fucking goblins! Take this¡. Ahhhhh!¡± another soldier said as he tried to stab a goblin and got his arm cut of by one of the goblins swords. ¡°Don¡¯t falter! We can win against these lowly mobs!¡± the Captain shouted. ¡®ahh the shouts of fear from humans! I just enjoy it!¡¯ BANG!!! A bang then rang and a goblin suddenly dropped dead in front of them. All the goblins and soldiers stopped and looked at Justin who was holding his pistol. ¡°Fucking goblins, they look as bad as they are in video games! And they smell bad!¡± he shouted as he aimed his gun and shot another goblin. BANG! ¡°¡die!¡± he said as another goblin dropped dead. ¡®Fucking pink skin!¡¯ ¡°Get the one holding that rod! And give his weapon to me!¡± he ordered and the goblins all targeted him. BANG! BANG! BANG! With every bang, the Goblins have dropped dead. ¡°Christa! Jarlmond! Cover me while I reload.¡± Justin said as he tried to reload his revolver. That was one of the cons of the revolver he brought. It only had 6 bullets. ¡°I should have brought the damn Pistol!¡± ¡®What kind of weapon is that?¡¯ The goblin Chieftain thought as he looked at Justin who just finished loading his weapon. ¡®Just imagine how much pink skins and furries we can kill with something like that! I want to get it!¡¯ The Chieftain then moved to try and attack him from behind, stalking his target, he walked as low as he can and looked from side to side. ¡®good, those stupid pink skins don¡¯t notice me.¡¯ He then pounced from behind with his scimitar. And was suddenly blocked by a sword. ¡°Goblin, you look like the Chieftain of this tribe, as a Captain of the Marthean Army, I will kill you and we will destroy your tribe.¡± the Captain said as he readied to attack again. ¡°Pink skin, you shall die, I am the best chieftain! I am stronger!¡± He shouted as he turned his body and slashed at the Captain. The Captain blocked the swing with his sword and was taken aback, it was the first time a goblin has been able to push him back. ¡°I must say Chieftain, you are strong. But you are still just a goblin. Hahh!¡± he said as he swung his weapon at the goblin. The Goblin dodged and swung his scimitar at the Captain¡¯s knee. Seeing the attack the captain jumped to avoid the incoming attack. The Chieftain then stopped his swing midway and changed the direction of his attack upwards. The captain then in mid air twisted his body which made his sword parry the Chieftain¡¯s incoming scimitar. ¡°You are skilled pink skin, but as you see your men are dying.¡± he exclaimed. Around them the soldiers were dwindling in number, though the goblins are too, their loses are minimal because this was only half of their total force. ¡°We will annihilate you!¡± BOOM! A big boom rang and the blood and guts of goblins flew a few feet from the blast area.Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! ¡°Hahahaha! That worked as expected!¡± Justin shouted as he lit another Dynamite and threw it to another group of goblins. BOOM! More goblins die from the second blast and this made the goblins scared of Justin. ¡°Run!¡± A goblin shouted as he run but suddenly dropped dead as a bullet struck his head. ¡°...!¡± ¡°Goblins! You evil creatures shall die!¡± Justin shouted as he threw another Dynamite at the scrambling goblins. ¡°Ahhh! Spare us! Aghh¡¡± A goblin said as he was stabbed by a soldier. ¡°We can win this!¡± a Soldier shouted ¡°Yeahhh!¡± The others roared as they pressed their attack on the marauding goblins that were now scattering in different directions. ¡°Come back you cowards! Whatever, Mages attack!¡± The chieftain shouted, and from out of the treeline, goblin mages let lose their fireballs. ¡°Hahahaha! I win~¡± ¡°No!¡± the captain exclaimed as he looked at the stunned faces of his men as the multiple fireballs target them. ¡°...Tangus suh aran locitum!¡± Suddenly the captain and the soldiers were shielded by a magical barrier. The captain the looked at Christa who was struggling to stand up, having consumed a lot of mana for the barrier. She collapsed beside Justin who grabbed here as she fell down. ¡°Tch! Insolent fools! Take this!¡± the Goblin rushed at the startled Captain and slashed at his arm, the Captain didn¡¯t block in time and his blood was drawn. ¡°Hahahaha! Like I said you will die¡ ¡®Bang¡¯ ¡ughhh¡¡± The goblin flew a few feet to the side and suddenly fell to the ground, a hole was visible from the side of his left temple, his green blood oozing out of the hole. ¡°That goblin was annoying,¡± He said as he tried to aim at the goblins on the trees. ¡°Hahahaha nice one! Men charge! Try and capture them if you can!¡± The Captain ordered as his men charged straight to the goblins that were now in all different directions, some of them fought to the bitter end, while a few just laid themselves in fetal position and were captured. Goblins, even though they are monsters, are still sentient beings, and can be used by summoners as summoned monsters. Even if they looked weak, if trained and with a large group, they can match even beast demi-human in strength. So the Captain decided to have some captured and be sold of a small but good sum of money. After the battle, the soldiers only had a few casualties, most of them were either new recruits or the older men who were from the town¡¯s garrison. Even with the deaths of their comrades, they were still happy because it was luck that they had Justin with his weapons along with them. A lot the men were injured and with Christa being down and out for now, they just wrapped their wounds with some bandages and were helping the farmers that they discovered hiding inside some of the untouched houses that the goblins didn¡¯t burn down. Only a few of them were able to survive, most of them children who were now left orphaned because the adults were trying to defend the children. The others were the elderly who now have nowhere to go now. ¡°What will we do now Captain?¡± one of the soldiers asked as he was dragging his leg that was splinted with two wood planks. ¡°¡we can¡¯t just leave them here Captain, we don¡¯t know if they could survive in this place now.¡± The Captain looked at the surroundings, beast demi-human and human children who are crying and the elderly that trying to pacify them as the few soldier that could move around and about were digging graves for their dead. ¡°I myself would want to help them¡± He said as he glanced at the man Justin who was treating the injured ¡°But we have imposed ourselves to Justin to much already, though I doubt he would leave them here to their fates, I cannot order the man to take care of the refugees here.¡± He sighed as he looked at the sky, only a few hours til dusk. He has already sent a runner back to the town of Lersche to report the incident and they are only waiting for backup, and for the body carts to come and take the fallen soldiers. The smoke cloud was quite visible to them when they were a few meters away from the town, but how could the guards stationed at Lersche not see the huge plume of smoke coming from the fire burning fields and houses. Justin came over to the Captain after he treated the wounded, though he didn¡¯t have any magic to help heal their wounds, he did have basic knowledge of first aid and was able to at least mitigate the damages dealt to them. He himself had a few scars and scratches but was still looking very healthy. ¡®oh what I¡¯d do to be young again!¡¯ the captain thought as he looked at Justin ¡°...your thoughts Captain?¡± he asked as he sat beside the Captain ¡°Just thinking about how and why no one from the Town didn¡¯t see the smoke coming from the settlements here.¡± he answered ¡°I was thinking of the same thing, can you think of anyone who has the ability to conceal smoke of that size?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t know much about magic, and such I can¡¯t answer your question. The goblins might have a hand on that, but we can¡¯t rule out the possibility of a third party. But no one comes mind.¡± the captain said as he turned around upon hearing the sound of galloping horses.¡±looks like the reinforcements have arrived.¡± Coming towards them was a man wearing robes and a conical hat, probably a mage and the burly man that greeted them earlier that day when they reached Lersche. ¡°Greetings captain,¡± the burly man said as the Captain stood up ¡°It seems that you¡¯ve had your hands full, what happened anyways?¡± ¡°seems so, oh by the way Justin, He is Sir Taiga, I believe you met him earlier right?¡± he asked Justin as he stood up. ¡°Yes, Greetings Sir Taiga, I am Justin.¡± ¡°Greetings to you to Justin, I¡¯m sorry if we weren¡¯t introduced earlier, since we had some things to do.¡± he said as he shook his hand. ¡°Oh, and this is the Town Magistrate, Sir Yuri. And also aide when I served in the wars.¡± ¡°Good day to you, Sir Justin.¡± he bowed down and Justin followed. ¡°I felt a small disruption in the air earlier, but since it was only small, I just shrugged it off earlier. Until we received word of the goblin attack from the Captain¡¯s messenger.¡± he explained ¡°We came here as fast as we can, I brought my own Century to the field. They will arrive shortly.¡± ¡°that¡¯s good to hear Sir Taiga, but might I ask about your role in the Kingdom?¡± Taiga smiled at Justin ¡°Well young Justin, I am actually what you would call a [noble], and a [warrior], but most people call me a [Centurion]. And since I heard from Captain Valen that you were not from the kingdom originally, I procured some books that I planned on sending to your place, but due to these unexpected circumstances. I had my man haul it with them, though I planned to give this as a gift, I expect great things from a visionary as you.¡± he then turned around and laughed all the way back to his horse. Yuri then came to Justin and put his hand on his shoulder ¡°Don¡¯t get it to you that much Sir Justin, he means well. He¡¯s a bit of a meat head, but a good man nonetheless. And that¡¯s the reason I help him, and will continue to as long as I can.¡± he then went to catch up on the [Centurion]. The captain just laughed as he stood up and left Justin there sitting alone. ¡®he doesn¡¯t look like a bad man, and the books would do me a good favour too. I¡¯ll need to brush up my knowledge when I get my hands on those.¡¯ Justin said to himself as he laid himself down on the grass, ignoring the blood on it¡¯s blades. Meanwhile, the group of anarchist are now reporting to their leader. Who is the leader you ask? It¡¯s none other than the governor. ¡°Master, we come to report.¡± said the cat-man wearing a black body suit. ¡°We successfully cast the illusion magic, but the man has killed all the marauding goblins, including the up and coming goblin lord. We have left Kara alone to follow them and she disguised herself as a traveler.¡± ¡°Good job all of you, now begone, oh call for Kyura. I need to ask her something.¡± ¡°Understood Master.¡± they say as they vanish. ¡°Looks like the man is quite resilient, though I doubt he was responsible for all of that.¡± He took a sip of his wine and looked to the corner of the room. ¡°What do you think of the man Kyura?¡± and suddenly Kyura materializes in the corner, walking up to the governor. ¡°He doesn¡¯t look too strong, no visible battle wounds, no muscles. And he only carried a small piece of wood and metal on his waist. We tried to look into it more, but the mage with them was able to block our scrying.¡± That was a bad thing for the Governor, he already made a lot of moves against Captain Valen, which included only having a single mage be assigned to him. But he didn¡¯t expect that the young mage was that good, he needed to formulate a plan. ¡°Suna what¡¯s wrong? Want me to go and spy on them personally?¡± Kyura said breaking the silence. But the Governor just pulls her over to bed and made love to the Cat-girl. Outside, the other rouges where listening in on them. ¡°There goes the boss.¡± rouge 1 ¡°And Kyura really seems like she enjoys herself.¡± rouge 2 ¡°But they are childhood friends, so we really should¡¯ve expected that from them.¡± rouge 3 ¡°Still, we must support them, so that our clan can move to the next phase. And that is the rebirth of our house.¡± the rouge leader said as he came out from the shadows. ¡°To the glory of house Nekota!¡± ¡°To the house!¡± they said as they dispersed and vanished. Kyura does not know that her clan knows of the things between them. And she does not know about their plan of liberating the clan from them. A few hours later, Justin and the group reached the house, outside they were greeted by Aileena and the Soldiers. ¡°Welcome home master!¡± She said as Justin and the group approached the settlement, in just a day the soldiers have managed to build structures and a small barracks. ¡°Hello, Aileena.¡± he responded as he looked at the men, some were still busy tidying up the place, because it was nearing night time. ¡°Your men seem to have made quite the progress captain¡± amazed at the speed of the work, he gave a thumbs up at as the soldiers looked at him. ¡°that¡¯s expected! We are the strongest army of the Kingdom! Well second to the Royal guard, and maybe the legions, and maybe the armies of nobles¡.¡± ¡°I get it Captain, you are strong.¡± Christa interrupted. ¡°Well we are the strongest, the north is quite hostile you know.¡± ¡°I agree with the Captain completely, even with the war in the south, the mortality rate is higher in Aldrain. And that only counts the ones that are reported, who knows how many really die?¡± Sir Taiga interjected ¡°Captain! Sir Justin¡ and Sir Taiga, I didn¡¯t expect you to come here.¡± The vice-captain said as he ran to our position. ¡°A lot of things happened earlier Marshu, but with Sir Justin¡¯s weird weapon, we managed to at least minimize our casualties. We need to call for a meeting with the commander and the army, things have become a bit problematic lately.¡± Captain said to his vice-captain and called the other officers of the company as they called for a meeting. ¡°Your house looks splendid sir Justin! Mind if we take a tour?¡± Sir Taiga said as he and Sir Yuri dismounted their horses. ¡°It would be my pleasure Sir.¡± he answered and faced Aileena. ¡°Aileena, there is some food at the wagon Sir Taiga¡¯s men have brought with us, kindly take it all to the kitchen. And please prepare dinner with the ingredients as you see fit.¡± he asked as he guided Sir Taiga and Sir Yuri inside. After the tour, they went down to the dinning room, well it looked almost akin to a small mess hall since the apartment was actually made to accommodate many boarders. It was what the landlord said to Justin, but he was always the only person that was renting a room in the whole house. On the hallway between the dinning room and living room, Justin noticed the stack of books that the noble has given him, or should I say bribed him with. Justin was happy to see that the books were actually intelligible with him, even if it wasn¡¯t written in any writing system he knew before. The blessing of Divine Language was really convenient. ¡°The food looks good Sir Justin! Your maid has done a good job!¡± Sir Taiga exclaimed as they entered into view of the food. On the table was a different kinds of cooked vegetables and meat. There was soups, saucy food and even a salad. A very balanced meal. The silverware was also arranged nicely. ¡°Thank you for the compliment sir.¡± She bowed down after she said. ¡°Oh Aileena, call for Christa, the Captain and Vice-captain Marshu over. And also call your father and younger brother, so we can start.¡± Justin said and Aileena excused herself. ¡°You have quite the collection of strange looking stuff Sir Justin,¡± the Centurion said as he sat down and held a spoon that was on the table. ¡°and the silverware looks quite splendid, no visible nicks or marks from hammering.¡± ¡°Thank you Sir Taiga, those were made by artisans from where I come from.¡± ¡°Yuri what do you think about the place?¡± Sir Taiga asked Yuri who was also fiddling with a spoon. ¡°I might say the silver ware looks nice, and the lighting to the place is also nice,¡± Yuri exclaimed as he looked at the light bulbs on the ceiling. ¡°They are brighter than any light source I know of, well not as bright as magic, but I don¡¯t sense any magic on the lights.¡± ¡°Those are powered by¡ technology from my home. It¡¯s quite hard to replicate.¡± ¡°I see¡ It does look so.¡± ¡°Ahh! Sir Justin! The food looks good.¡± Captain Valen said as he entered the Room with Christa and Marshu in tow. ¡°Good Evening Captain.¡± ¡°Well then looks like we only need to wait for the maid and her family.¡± Sir Yuri said as they three get seated. ¡°Justin can I be frank with you?¡± the Captain asked suddenly as he sat down beside Justin. he just looked at the captain. ¡°Well about the¡ orphans and old people we brought with us, I myself want to help them, but we don¡¯t have enough coin to support them. Though asking help from you is what I wanted to do, I realize that you already have a lot of people in your employ in just a few days. But can you please help them for now?¡± he asked. ¡°I plan on helping them even if you haven¡¯t suggested captain, but I expect the some help from the government for making the settlement.¡± ¡°That¡¯s nice!¡± the captain perked up ¡°Looks like we can really count on someone like you. The government would likely help you, since they can give a small amount of money as a loan to new settlements, though it also means that the governor will likely send one of his men here to set up an office. i doubt that it would be a problem for you though.¡± ¡°I¡¯ll think about that captain, it would be nice to have a connection to the Governor.¡± ¡°Nice to hear that.¡± the captain¡¯s face then changed to a gloomier expression ¡°But always remember that the Governor is a sly man.¡± Justin kept that in mind just in case, the Captain was a good man, and he trusted him as much as he trusted Justin. Which was not too much. As Aileena and her family came they all get eat their meals. Everyone of them enjoyed it. A kilometer away, a group of goblins were slowly being annihilated by a group of adventurers. One of them, a young man wielding a bastard sword, slashed at the last goblin that was left alive. ¡°Looks like that¡¯s all of them buggers.¡± the man said as he wiped the blood of his face. ¡°Indeed, the gods have favoured us in this battle.¡± said the Cleric beside him, he had a thin but toned body and wore white robes. ¡°though I must say my robes are now ruined.¡± ¡°Hey Kiara, are there any of them that retreated?¡± the man in full plate asked the ranger who was on top of a tree with a knocked bow. ¡°I got ¡®em all ya¡¯ no¡¯! I spot a sma¡¯ camp near da¡¯ riva¡¯, I think it¡¯ da¡¯ army, wan¡¯na che¡¯ it out?¡± she asked her mates. ¡°Wonderful! Maybe I can have my robes washed there!¡± said the cleric ¡°And maybe they have some meat, can¡¯t survive here too much without meat you know.¡± said the armored hulk ¡°That settles it then, Kiara, try to scout it for now so we can be sure it¡¯s the army.¡± he ordered the ranger. ¡°Aye¡¯ Marcus. Oh and try to get as much goblin ears as you can.¡± She jumped down and ran to the location of Paraiso. ¡°You think she can manage it?¡± asked the Armored hulk ¡°Even if she is new, she was recommended by Marcus¡¯ brother, but she does have skill with the bow.¡± answered the Cleric ¡°And do note that she is a Faush, and we all know that demi humans from that lineage are known for their skill in the art of stealth. So I believe in her skills.¡± Marcus added as they move to take all the dead goblin¡¯s ears, it will give them some good cash. While the adventurers are taking their ears, Glok was silently watching in a safe distance. ¡®Those pesky pink skins, the tribe has suffered so much in a day. Meddling adventurers¡¡¯ after the death of the previous chief, he was chosen by the tribe to lead it a new, and after which he gained knowledge from the past chief¡¯s collective lives. ¡®Stupid humans, you will all die, specially the one with the metal rod! And that blasted swordsman!¡¯ he thought to himself. Looking through his new found knowledge, he devises his plan on again attacking the humans near the river.
