《Emotionless Pain》


 Ch. 1- Different

    On a busy night in a hospital room, were the cries of a women. She was in the process of giving birth, her face showing lots of pain.


    "Push! Push! You''re almost there! The baby''s almost out!" A nurse cried to the women as she saw the head of the baby.


    "Come on honey! Our child is almost out! Keep pushing!" A man seeming to be her husband said while tightly gripping her hand.


    As the man said that, the women giving birth took several quick breaths and pushed with all her might. With that the baby was out. Relieved, the women almost lost consciousness but fought to stay awake to see if her newborn is well.


    The nurse holding the baby was about to say that the baby''s a boy, but then she noticed a pair of eyes staring at her, surprisingly it came from the baby. She couldn''t describe how she felt when she stared into the baby''s eyes but she knew that there was something wrong with him.


    She shook off the thought and quickly called over the doctor to see why he acted like this, the other nurses and even the doctor thought like this seeing the baby open his eyes but not make the slightest of sound.Did you know this text is from a different site?     The doctor then quickly examined the baby, to see what was wrong. The baby''s breathing and heartbeat seemed normal so he thought there was something wrong with the baby''s brain, so they had to do further examination.


    After two hours passed, Emily the mother of the child and Jonathan restlessly waited in a room where Emily could rest. The door suddenly opened and with it came the doctor. The doctor sat down and said not to worry because their child is fine. He then continued,


    "Your child has a case that we''ve never heard before, somehow his body can''t produce certain chemicals that allows him to express emotions. He will still think like a normal person but the lack of emotions might affect him."


    Both Emily and Jonathan are shocked about this fact. Emily started to cry while Jonathan as he comforted his wife asked the doctor if they could see him.


    The doctor came back with their son and left the room after handing the baby over. The baby that was being held by Jonathan could be mistaken as a doll if not for the fact that he struggles slightly when carried. Not a noise came from him, as Jonathan and Emily looked into his abyss like eyes they got chills but shook the feeling off because they decided that they will care for their child with all they''ve got. They also agreed on a name for him.


    "Hi, Shawn" Emily said as she kissed the baby that fell asleep.

 Ch. 2- Kindergarten (1)

    In a quiet house sat a little boy that held to what looks like a thick book, his eyes dance from word to word and as if addicted to it he never took his eyes off of it. Yet he was only 5 years of age!


    "Shawn! Come eat your breakfast so you''ll be energized for your first day of kindergarten!" Emily said as she smiled towards the boy.


    "Yes" Shawn said with an indifferent like face. He never really does talk much or he doesn''t want to and stays quiet to ''observes'' things that interest him.


    As Emily watched the boy eat, she began to get anxious. This will be the first time in a while that Shawn interacted with children his age. And she fully remembers what happened last time. What happened was Emily and Shawn went to the park and kids wanted to play with him as he was an unfamiliar kid.


    Next minute later the kids that went and played with him burst into tears which alerted the parents as the rushed over. Shawn was just standing there with his usual emotionless face staring at the sobbing children. Seeing their parents rush over they ran towards them, the parents looked at Shawn that was just standing there with that expression not saying a word.This novel''s true home is a different platform.     There expression was strange upon seeing the boy, maybe they were scared but they did think that there was something wrong with this boy. Although they did spout out some words clearly directed to Emily.


    "Hey! You need to keep better watch of your child! He''s already making trouble at his age and made our kids cry!"


    Emily apologized and Shawn while not having said a word left with her. Without no emotions at all Shawn can''t sympathize or empathize with other people. Him being emotionless affected his mentality greatly.


    Finishing her thoughts, Emily help Shawn prepare to go to Kindergarten. They hopped on Emily''s car, Jonathan was supposed to take Shawn to school but he was busy with work so Emily took him.


    After sometime of driving they finally arrived at Shawn''s school. Emily said goodbye as she had work and let the teacher of the class handle him. Curiosity filled Shawn''s eyes and the urge of gaining knowledge once again sparked as he entered the scene that was unfamiliar to him. Little did he know the special thing in his body is causing tremendous changes.

 Ch. 3- Kindergarten (2)

    Shawn walked into the noisy classroom with the teacher. The teacher then took a minute or more to quiet down the children and told them to listen up. The teacher guided Shawn in the middle of the classroom and spoke towards the other kids.


    "Okay everyone, I want you to meet Shawn! Everyone say ''hello Shawn!''" Cheerfully said to the kids but the room was silent. Shawn was the only one moving his head and looking at the other kids.


    The teacher at the moment had an awkward smile and encouraged the kids to say hello to Shawn. When the kids finally said hello they got nothing from Shawn or so they thought but after a long pause Shawn like a robot said ''Hi''.


    If the teacher of Shawn wasn''t informed of the condition of Shawn by his mom then she would have definitely thought that this kid was Satan''s spawn or something. Lucky his mom informed the teacher and now the teachers job was to make Shawn fit in while at the same time making sure the other kids aren''t scared or weirded out.


    The first half of the morning in kindergarten was either spent playing around or sleeping, none of which Shawn did. He would either sit on the corner and observe the other kids or use the blocks engraved with letters to form words, this would always shock the teachers. One time Shawn looked like he was up to something and quietly moved to the area most of the kids were playing, once they saw him they spread like ants on a rainy day. When that happened Shawn observed around him to see their reaction and as if he was satisfied with the results he quietly went back to his corner as if he was experimenting.This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road.     Few days passed and the other kids can already tolerate Shawn and his strange behaviors but no one still talked to him, but one normal day Shawn saw what looked to be a interesting looking big book being held by the home room teacher and walked up to her and asked, "Can I read that book?"


    The teacher was shocked for a few seconds but smiled and politely rejected Shawn''s request thinking that the psychology college textbook that she bought was to difficult for Shawn to read and was only interested in the colors.


    "psy-cho-lo-gee?" Shawn with his usual face slowly pronounced the words from the book cover with a questioning tone.


    "What is that?" Shawn asked again without even letting the teacher speak.


    The teacher hesitated for a moment but decided to explain it to him. The teacher simplified the meaning as a study of behavior and minds of humans also focusing on social behaviors for humans.


    Hearing the explanation Shawn thought back to the ''experiments'' that he did with watching how the kids would react when he was there. There behaviors proved that they thought something of him enough to make them stay away.


    After a little bit of thought Shawn then asked "Can I read that book...please?" Then the unthinkable happened just as Shawn said please in a kid like manner he smiled! It didn''t look like a fake smile at all but looked like a genuine smile!
