《Female mage, a Baker, and a kingdom》 Chapter One: Met god, he was pretty cool. "For this, I am deeply sorry." God said and took a drink from his glass of iced tea. He looked like someone''s grandfather that was on vacation wearing a Hawaiian t-shirt and jeans instead of a robe. There were no walls or floors around us we both were floating on a large cloud drinking tea together at a small table. "It''s fine, I mean everyone''s life comes to an end eventually." I had died. While walking home from work, I chose to take a different route home, and I saw an old lady crossing the street slowly. Someone was driving dangerously fast and didn''t stop when they saw the woman. Being the gentle hearted person I was I dove into action shoving her out of the way and then boom dead. "Though it might seem harsh you only spared that woman''s life by a day; she is meant to die you just happened to intervene while I was doing my job." It was harsh, but this was gods job. "so where am I? heaven?" I asked sipping some tea. "No, just an area for meetings." He pulled a large leather bound book out of his pocket and began flipping through the pages. The title read "layers of the afterlife." he created everything you think he would remember the different sections of the afterlife. God created more iced tea from thin air and poured himself another glass. "You are an extraordinary human though, to die and be brought to a random location floating in the clouds yet remain so calm. bit weird honestly." "Guess I am a little strange, but hey at least I don''t think shirts with flowers on it are fashionable." God chuckled and snapped the book he was reading shit and sat cross legged on his chair. "True, true, well before we start, have any questions? I will answer any you have." Any questions I had would be answered? I could learn anything I want. "Are you the only god?" "Nope, not even close, we have a god for every single religion there is or was." "But I''m an atheist."You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author. "Yup I''m the atheist god, I don''t do anything to help you guys I just sit around and relax all day." at least he is honest. "Well since I''m dead I don''t have any questions relating to earth. so whats next do I go to heaven, hell, get reborn, or just die off after we finish talking." "Well as an atheist it''s your choice, you can do any of those things. Well, that is convenient, I can be reincarnated, or I can move on. I was only twenty when I died so moving onto heaven just seemed like a waste of time. "reincarnation sounds cool. how does it work?" "Well you won''t be reborn on earth you will be put on a new world. you need to choose what you will be reincarnated as." "what are my choices for this new world?" "Human, elf, dwarf, ghoul, fairy, even a god." Hmm, I seemed to have a large selection, how would a god make me a god though? Whatever the case the life of a god seems boring only visiting the newly departed and sitting around all day. Dwarves might be cool, but they are extremely short and live in the mountains right,l I hate tight spaces. "I guess reborn as a female human, could I get a few extra years? like maybe live until I''m two hundred or so?" I asked hopefully. "so a female ancestral human? also, you are a male why not just be reborn as a man?" "I''m gay, being a woman will make things easier, also whats an ancestral human?" "just a regular human but you live for hundreds of years, on your new world very few ancestral humans are left since they cannot breed and are only staying around due to reincarnation. any more questions?" Being dropped into a world with no knowledge of it would be a bit problematic. Would it be possible to get a guide or a book of some sort? "Um, could I get a guide and a book of the history of the world before you send me away?" "of course." With a snap of his fingers, a very thick book appeared in front of him, and a fairy sat weightlessly on his shoulder. The books cover read, history and culture of Rayliv. "quick warning before I send you off, the continent you will be awakening on has hundreds of independent kingdoms all of which are at war or on the brink of war. so let me teach you a bit of magic, or you will die immediately." We both stood up on the cloud; it was rather hard to stand on. Every so often I would sway from side to side or bounce up and down. God stood by my side and held his hands close together in front of him, and a ball of fire appeared at his finger tips. The ball of fire expanded the longer he held it in his hands. Shaking his hands, the fire ball went out with a small poof. "that''s what I''m going to show you how to do it''s a simple fire ball but rather useful against common bandits and such. now hold your finger tips close together and take deep breaths picturing a ball of fire forming in your hands." Taking his advice, I took deep breaths and held my hands close together and eventually after many attempts a small ball of fire appeared in my hands. The fire ball was rather small compared to the gods only about as big as a bouncy ball, so I was rather disappointed, but the look on gods face showed that what I had just done was exceptional. "well done, you have a large amount of mana for an average human, well this is good bye you will awake in your new world as soon as I send you away." With a pat on my shoulder and a firm hand shake, I was sent to Rayliv. Chapter Two: What did you call me? I awoke, the first thing I saw was the red sky above me. My new body had been placed outside the front of a building. The owner of the shop came running out with a broom shoving me away shouting in a foreign language he must think I''m homeless. After running away from the shop keeper, I took a moment to look at my surroundings to get my bearings. Then I remembered the fairy and book God gave me before sending me off. I began patting my pockets until I felt a small bump and pulled the little fairy out. She looked a little flustered and started to try and fly away. "Hey, God gave me you, so I''m your master." The fairy was only about four inches tall with vibrant blonde hair. She stopped fighting, so I placed her on my shoulder, she was small and light as a feather. The buildings surrounding us were made of wood and stone, people walked around with swords and armour. Rayliv was very under developed compared to earth. But what town was I in? "know where we are?" I asked the fairy who seemed to have a bit of an attitude. "you are in the kingdom of khaken, a country which has lost much of its territory in the wars and is currently a level one kingdom. more precisely we are in the town of renewal which surrounds the castle of Thomris." Though she didn''t seem to like answering the question she gave a very detailed answer to my question. I only just realised that I didn''t have any money and I still wore the clothes that I died in, a suit and tie which didn''t match with anyone else''s clothes and they were rather large on me considering my change in gender. Also, where is the book God gave me with the history of the continent. I began looking around anxiously. "you left it in the bag back at the shop you ran from." The fairy said picking at her teeth. I ran back to the shop and saw the man who shoved me away with his broom looking through a brown leather satchel. He pulled the book out and looked excited. "Hey, buddy that''s my shit put it down." I said walking closer to him, he just chuckled and rolled his eyes, he didn''t seem to know what I was saying. I started to pull the leather satchel, but he tugged back. "Ken vad khafin!" He shouted, the language was very rough. Apparently, he didn''t want to give up the book and satchel, so I let the bag go and placed my fingers close together and began concentrating on making a ball of fire. Then a small ball of fire appeared at my fingers; the man looked scared, he dropped the bag and ran away. I swung the bag over my shoulder and began to walk away, but the shop owner was back and with a few heavily armoured guards. He wore a broad smirk on his face like a badge of honour.Love this story? They wouldn''t understand me even if I explained the situation, so all I can do is run. I began running toward the centre of town with the fairy holding onto my clothes with all her strength trying not to fall off. A lot of people were wondering around the town plaza buying and selling different objects. I looked around for a large group of people, and to my delight, a large group of people were surrounding a street performer. "Vadken edaken vadken thi, vad vi vadken yokenthieye jizi ith vi vad!" The man in the centre of the crowd wearing a tailcoat and a large hat shouted. Though I couldn''t understand the language, I knew he was trying to over hype the performance. I hid in the group of people trying to keep a low profile, but my clothes could give me away at any moment. I began looking through the satchel for the book and found a small purse full of copper coins and a few silver ones. I then found the book and pulled it out and started looking for an English translation section. To my luck, there was, the language was apparently called Kenhanvad zhieyethiken meaning Language of the Emperor. I tugged on a near by persons robes and started to read from the book for a simple translation. "where clothes store." I asked trying my best to pronounce the rough words. The man laughed seeing me struggle to speak the language. He pointed towards a small shop on the very corner of the street I just came from. Slowly I walked towards the shop trying not to attract any attention especially not from the guards. I managed to make it inside the store and to my surprise very few people were inside, and only one person worked the counter. He stood there with a smile on his face and walked towards me. "Zhi kha vi rekke?" He seemed to be asking a question. Flipping through the translation section as fast as I could, I found out he was asking if he could help me with anything. "cheap clothes?" I asked with a half hearted smile, he looked slightly disappointed but kept the smile on his face anyway. He brought me a few pairs of simple shirts, pants and dresses that looked to have been previously owned. "changing room?" He leads me to a small room that was covered by a curtain and contained a stool and a large full body mirror. He bowed his head and walked back to his counter. I closed the curtain and started to look at the clothes. The dresses were a no go, I was used to wearing pants as a male, so I stuck with the white shirt, black vest, and soot stained pants. After putting the clothes on, I began checking myself out in the mirror I was definitely now a female. My hair was short, and a dark brown colour and my eyes were the colour of a flawless emerald. I peeked my head out from behind the curtain to see if there were any bra''s but apparently, bra''s had not been invented yet. I left the clothes I didn''t want in the changing booth and brought the ones I did to the counter. The total came to a single silver coin which wasn''t too bad since I got three different sets of clothes. I left the shop and wandered around the shopping plaza for a little while trying to find a sword of some sort. After an hour of looking around, I found a small stall with a dwarven merchant peddling his crafts. "cheap sword?" The dwarf began looking around in a barrel that was behind him. All the weapons in there seemed to be his junk, though most of them were still of relatively high quality. He appeared to have found one that he decided was cheap enough for me. It was a short sword with a few imperfections but good enough to hack a bandit or two if they tried anything against me. He held up three fingers indicating three silver which I pulled out of my small pouch; I only had a few dozen copper coins left enough for a loaf of bread or something. I waved goodbye to the dwarf and made my way to a nearby bakery. Chapter Three: The boxing baker The bakery was rather large with shelves full of cooking tins, freshly baked goods and some recipe lists. Behind the counter was a man who stood at least six feet tall and was as big as a house, not fat but extremely muscular. He had a majestic moustache covering his lip and a bald head. He wore no shirt under his apron. One customer was being served while another was just looking at the shelves. I waited in line behind a woman who looked to be rather wealthy wearing fancy clothes and some jewellery. Was this store too expensive for me? "Next customer please!" the man yelled cheerfully. I was starting to get the hang of the language even though I have only been studying it for a few hours, I stepped forward and looked at the bread on display. "It''s five coppers for a loaf of bread, dear." "One loaf please." "does your fairy want anything?" he asked with a twinkle in his eye. up until now, no one else mentioned the fairy, so I assumed only I could see her. "we will share the bread, can you really see her?" "Yup, I''m originally from Japan you?" "America, wait you were reincarnated as well?" "Yeah, I''m an ancestral human was well, we can see things others cannot. here have a loaf on the house for the fairy, I know how stingy those gods are with the start up money." I shook his hand and waved goodbye it was nice meeting another person who was reincarnated but strange. Sadly I did not have the time to chit chat with him as I needed to get the lay of the land. "come by again if you need anything dear." he said twisting his moustache. Though I had the essentials down, there was nowhere for me to stay. I only had a few copper coins left I had no chance in renting a room for the night in a large city. Having no other choice, I walked to the entrance of the town where a few guards were standing. Maybe a small village will have cheaper rooms. "excuse me, where is the closest village to here?" I asked, and one of the guards turned around. He was an ugly man whose face looked to be sunken in from lack of food. He walked towards me with lust in his eyes. Clearly, he wants to give me more than directions. "About an hour that way but if you need a place to stay why not my place, the beds nice and warm?" he said and wrapped his arm around my shoulder. "No thanks creep." I moved his arm off my shoulder and began to walk away. But he grabbed my arm and spun me around. "don''t walk away from me bitch!" he snarled. "Unless you want to lose that hand I would take it off my arm." He pulled me closer to his body and held my arm tightly. "You hear that boys my hands going to come clean off!" he laughed. As I began to draw my sword, the tall, muscular baker walked behind the man and placed his hand on the guard''s shoulder. Sweating bullets, the guard turned around slowly, and the baker''s face was only a few inches away from his own. "c-captain, fancy seeing you here." he stammered letting go of my arm. "whats going on here?" he asked cheerfully "n-nothing I was only giving this woman directions."If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. "Oh is that so? well, sweetie is this correct?" I slid my sword back into the sheath. "Of course, he was very nice." "ah well good if it were any other way I may have cut his hand of myself." he laughed; obviously he knew exactly what happened. The man slithered back to the side of the gate he came from and didn''t say another word. Though the baker looked jolly, he was scary when he needed to be. As I began to walk in the direction the guard told me the baker followed behind me. Normally a woman should be worried when a strange man starts to follow her, but the way he dealt with the guard showed he had to bad intentions. I also had a hunch that he wasn''t interested in women. "so what is your name baker? also, why did you follow me?" I asked "My name was Shime Makoto, but now I am Otto Riegel Captain of the guard and baker on my days off. Oh, and I followed you because you forgot your faries bread. Whats your name?" He answered, handing me a paper bag with a loaf of bread in it. "Thank you. My name was Erik Reid; I don''t have a new name yet." He went quiet for a short while with his baseball glove sized hand rubbing his chin. Clearly, he was thinking of something. "how about Aubrey Reid, or Aleksandra?" he asked looking pleased with himself. "Aleksandra sounds nice, let''s go with that." The trip to the next village over was quite long and tiring. But we made it safe and sound, but the streets were deserted not even the sound of dogs barking broke the silence that engulfed this place. Both me and Otto looked at each other and began looking through each house separately. A lot of the furniture was set perfectly in most of the houses, so this wasn''t a bandit raid on the village. What happened? "This doesn''t sit right with me." Otto said pulling a pair of iron studded gloves out of his apron pocket. "what do we do?" "you head back to town I''m going to stay and check what happened around here." I was inclined to listen to him; once I make it back to the town, I could bring him some help. I turned around and was about to head back when the fairy jumped into my satchel. "something big and evil is coming." She said with her head poking out. The ground beneath us began to shake, and a large circle with a star and strange symbols began to glow read under our feet. The strange circle was large enough to cover the entire village. The ground started to bulge at the centre of the circle. Something large was coming out of the ground a large clawed hand emerged from the ground. Otto backed up slowly and hid me behind him. He was in a boxers stance, did he plan to box whatever was coming. Slowly the full body of the creature emerged from the ground. It was an ugly creature that stood on two legs with a furry body large clawed hands and the head of a lion. "son of a bitch, it''s a demon. whatever you do, do not use magic on it!" "But the only other thing I have is a small sword, and that thing is at least fifteen feet tall!" "just stay behind me I will show you some tricks my God showed me." His hands began to glow, looking closely there were some strange symbols drawn on the back of the gloves. Is it an enchantment of some sort? His feet began to glow as well, the boots he wore looked like military boots from earth and had the same strange symbol drawn on them. Otto leapt into the air with incredible force causing the ground beneath him to crack. He cocked his arm back and landed a massive blow on the demons head causing it to stumble and fall to the ground. But the fighting wasn''t over in one hit, the creature began to get up, but Otto was close by to rapid fire some punches into the side of the demon. The final blow Otto did caused the beast to go flying into some of the nearby buildings. Otto seemed to be tired after only giving a few hits. "Hey girly, I don''t know how many more hits I can deal, these enchantments drain my stamina fast. figure out what you can do or run to the town." "I only know how to make a fire ball." Otto let out a slight chuckle. "funny enough fire magic is the only magic that hurts demons." Aren''t demons from hell? Well, whatever the case I can be of some help in this fight. I put my fingertips together and created a small fire ball. The demon seemed to have recovered from its fall and began to get up, as soon as its head appeared over the building in front of me I lobbed the ball of fire directly at its head. Right as the ball hit the beasts head it erupted into a massive explosion. Otto had a stunned look on his face. "Are you tired after that?" I shook my head and prepared to throw another one. But the demon wasn''t moving, in one hit I managed to kill it. Otto went over to check it was dead. He came back with a pocket full of demon claws. I gave him a funny look. "They fetch a decent price on the market, here is your half. Is that what your God showed you before he sent you here?" "Yeah, he said I had a lot of mana for a human." "Saying a lot is an understatement, I would say an absurd amount." "so why was there a demon here?" "hmm, considering all the people disappeared I would say a summoner absorbed their souls and used them in a summoning ritual." Summoning rituals and demons, this world has a lot in store for me. The sun began to set so we decided to sleep in one of the abandoned houses for the night. I got the bed in a small room that presumably was inhabited by the child of the family and Otto took the master bed since his body was so massive he wouldn''t be able to sleep in this tiny bed even though he offered to do so. I slowly drifted off into sleep, my first night in another world and I already fought a demon I wonder what the future holds for me. Chapter Four: The Duke and his men The sun shined through the window and gleamed right into my eyes. Squinting I rolled out of bed gave a big stretch and yawned. Otto walked into my room and greeted me with a tray full of eggs, sausages and some toast. He placed the tray on my bed. "Gods this looks good, who ever falls for you is one lucky person." I said munching down on the food. "My wife says the same thing every morning at breakfast." I guess I assumed wrong about him. Where did he get the food? Whatever it didn''t matter I was starving, After wolfing down my meal, we left. The demon''s body had already disappeared over night; Otto said demon bodies are only temporary once dead their bodies will slowly decay and only leave behind types of minerals. That''s why the claws can be scavenged. "Ah, I almost forgot, welcome to Rayliv, a world full of magic, wondrous adventures, oh and demons." Otto laughed at himself. After an hour long walk back we finally made it to the town the guards greeted Otto and went back to their positions. After stopping by Otto''s bakery so he could drop off his apron, we made our way to the market plaza. "what are demon claws used for anyways?" I asked. "different alchemical potions and for some enchantments." "speaking of enchantments, the one you used was badass how do I use something like that?" "Can you box, or know any martial arts?" I shook my head. "Then these wouldn''t be a good fit for you, focus on your magic, with your stupid amount of mana you could become very powerful." We passed the dwarf who sold me the sword, and I waved at him, and he waved back. Now that I look around there are a lot more shops and market stalls open than yesterday. "whats going on?" I asked Otto "what day is it Thursday? on Thursday the Duke comes to visit the market place and buys anything he fancies." Speak of the devil, just as Otto finished talking an old stern looking man with fancy robes and many gold rings surrounded by guards and tailed by a few dozen more guards walked into the plaza. One can only assume he is the duke of this town. Seeing one man being followed by half the city guards made me wonder something. "Hey fairy, you said before that this is a level one kingdom right? whats up with the levels?" Fairy poked her head out with her hair ruffled and let out a big yawn. She flattened her hair the best she could and flew up to my shoulder. "There are ten different levels for a kingdom. Level one is the weakest and Level ten being the strongest." "whats the difference between each level?" "As an example, this kingdom current has two warriors with a single gold star power level, for it to advance to the next stage it would need to either get ten more single gold star warriors or have one warrior rise to black star." "If you were to stay here, we would have three single gold star warriors." Otto cut in. As the Duke looked around the different stalls and shops, Otto and I found the person we could sell the claws too. The merchant looked ancient as if he would keel over and die at any moment. He wore black robes and held a staff with a dark grey crystal atop it. "Ahh, demon claws, I can give you two silvers a piece." His voice was only a little more than a whisper. As Otto and I handed him our claws, we had five each, the Duke walked behind us and shoved me out of the way. I was normally a calm person but for someone to just walk up to me and shove me was inexcusable.Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences. "watch it jackass." I snarled wiping the dirt off of my butt. "Who is this, wench?" he looked down at me "I''m Aleksandra Reid; I don''t see how you can look down on others when your massive nose blocks your line of sight." His face now looked as if someone shoved a lemon in his mouth. Some of the people around us were covering their mouths trying not to laugh. The guards drew their swords. "execute her." he said as if he was only ordering a sandwich. I placed my hands together and created a fire ball. The guards looked shocked some of them even stepped back a few paces. Otto didn''t want to get involved considering he had no reason to and also had a wife that lives here, so he sat down by the black robed enchanter. One of the guards stepped forward. "it''s only one woman what can she do?" he said bringing his sword above his head about to strike. I threw my fireball at him, and he turned to ash with in an instance. Though I just killed a man I dare not hesitate as all the guards had their sword drawn now, I lobbed the next one at the group in the back, and it exploded knocking them all back a few feet. I drew my sword, though I didn''t know how to box or fight using martial arts I did know fencing. Lunging my sword forward I quickly stuck it through one of the guards face plates and threw another fire ball at a group of guards running towards the scene. There were only two guards and the Duke left. The Duke fell backwards over a merchants items trying to back away from me. The guards stood in fear. Just as I was about to run two heavily armour soldiers emerged from the crowd of people encircling the fight. "What is happening here?" the one in the dark blue armour with orange trim asked. "Do you wish to die?" said the one in black plate-mail. At this Otto stepped in. "these two are the Single gold star warriors." He said putting his gloves on and getting ready. "Why are you helping me?" "We are both from the same world, so we have to stick together but also because the Duke and his men have been ruling with an iron fist for a month now." Otto leapt forward and began swinging at the man in black armour. I shot a fireball at the blue one which seemed only to move him back a few inches. "not bad girl, but looks as if you only just started using magic." He moved forward and began to swing his sword at me each slice of the sword sounded as if it was cutting metal. I was only able to dodge or block each of his hits; I had no chance to counter. The man''s blue gauntlet started to glow green, and he began to swing his sword even faster. His gauntlets must be enchanted, what do I do? At this point, I''m bound to be killed. I blocked one of the attacks, and as I blocked it he punched me in the gut, and I flew back a few feet. I hit the ground with a loud thud, and I laid curled in a ball coughing. There is no way I can beat him if he is this powerful. But as a rubbed my stomach to try and stop the pain I thought of an idea. I clenched my fist and began to concentrate as the blue knight moved forward. Come on please work, as I thought that my hand became engulfed in fire. I got off the ground and blocked his sword, and we both went for a punch against each other. Our fists collided but my punch was much stronger causing his gauntlet to shatter, and his hand to explode. The man screamed in agony as he dropped his sword and clenched onto the stub that was his hand. Lifting up my sword I drove it down into his suit of armour with all the force I could. He collapsed on the ground in a pool of blood. "I''m done over here Otto how are you doing?" As I looked over to check on Otto, he had already finished the Black knight and was sitting on a barrel eating an apple. One of his gloves was torn up but other than that he looked fine. "I''m good." The crowd around us erupted into loud cheers and applauding. The Duke and his men were clearly not loved. Speaking of the Duke, I looked over to where he had fallen over. He was still there and in a puddle of his own making. "what do you wanna do with him?" I asked Otto grabbing an apple as well. "we could give him to the people." He suggested grabbing the Duke by his collar. I nodded, and Otto threw him at the feet of the citizens. We grabbed our silver from the enchanter and started to head for Otto''s bakery. "why was the Duke able to treat so many people like trash if a king is running the kingdom?" "the king died just a month ago leaving the nobles to fight for power; the duke killed all of them, so he ran things until now." "who will run things now then?" "Well by the law to rule, you or I, but I honestly just want to bake stuff and being a ruler I wouldn''t see my wife often." I could rule my own kingdom if I wanted to? It was only my second day in a new world yet things have unfolded unexpectedly. "Where is my throne?" I asked with a big grin on my face. Otto laughed, and we made our way up town to the castle. Word seemed to have spread fast most of the guards moved out of our way, and the citizens bowed as we walked past. All the eyes staring at us made me feel slightly uncomfortable, but I kept my head held high and stayed strong as any decent queen should. We finally made it to the castle where two guards were standing awaiting our arrival. The castle was rather large but run down. I stood at the threshold of the gate that leads to the courtyard. With a single step, I would be in my castle and would officially become a queen. Chapter Five: The Council Stepping over the threshold I was inside the castle grounds. Many of the bushes and flowers around the courtyard were withered and dead. The castles turrets were crumbling and in need of some repairs. The water coming out of the fountain looked like dirty swamp water. Otto walked at my side looking at everything in disrepair. "Why is everything in such poor shape?" I asked. "The war has taken its toll on the city, I don''t know about the kingdom''s coffers, but most people in this town can''t even afford a slice of bread. like that rich looking woman who was in front of you at my bakery, she has a family of three and can hardly afford their basic needs; I help them when I can." At a quick glance of the town, you wouldn''t be able to tell they had been hit by such hard times. Most of the people seemed to be happy. The statues in front of the Castle seemed to be the only things completely intact. On a closer examination, the figures depicted past kings. Each had a plate on the base of them that read their names and what power level they reached before dying. The strongest king to rule was called Robin Sweet, with the power level of Champion of light. The rest of the plate was covered in dirt. "How strong is a champion of light?" I asked Otto while crouching down to wipe off the dust. "They are worshipped as gods and are capable of toppling a kingdom all by themselves." The dust fell off with one swipe of my hand. To my surprise, the rest of the plate showed that he was an Ancestral human that appeared out of nowhere. If he was an ancestral human, maybe he was still alive. I got my hopes up though because once I continued to read it showed that he died while fighting the king of the holy empire. "fairy, whats the holy empire?" "the strongest nation on this continent said to be able to shape the world in any way they want. Didn''t God give you a book about everything, shouldn''t you read it." "too much reading, easier to ask you." Fairy then flew into my satchel ignoring me. As we continued towards the castle a knight in glorious gold armour stepped out from behind the main door. He had slicked back brown hair, gorgeous blue eyes and a chiselled jaw. I started to day dream while staring at him, slowly undressing him with my eyes. "uh, your majesty?" the knight said snapping me back to reality. "yes, what is it?" "I am Julian Lorem the new captain of the knights." You have to be kidding me his last name means sexy in Latin. Wait why did he have a Latin last name? "you seem to have a strange last name." "yes well, my father was from a kingdom far away." Was it possible he didn''t know his dad was reincarnated? Maybe he knows and just doesn''t want to sound crazy in front of the new queen. Whatever the reason I should be careful around him. "What is it you needed captain." I said straightening my posture and getting rid of all lude thoughts. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it. "I wished to greet my new queen and formally lead you into the throne room." He bowed his head and began to walk into the castle. The inside was nice and cool the stone kept the cold air insulated nicely. The outside may look as if a bomb hit it, but the inside was fabulous, with stone archways and ornate glass windows with a sun design stained into them. Entering the throne room nearly knocked the wind out of my lungs. Not only was the room massive but the drapes covering the windows complemented the gold and red throne. The statues lining the walls looked to have been sculpted by master crafts men, and there was the skull of a dragon hanging above the throne. "how much is everything in here worth?" I whispered in Otto''s ear. "I''m only guessing here but a few hundred platinum coins most likely." His face was struck with awe. There are twenty copper coins to a silver coin, and five silver coins to a gold coin how much gold is needed to make a platinum coin? "You should take a seat while I gather your counsel." Julian said bowing so deep he was nearly kissing his own feet. I sat down on the throne while still flabbergasted by everything around me. The throne was on an elevated platform with a short marble staircase leading to it. I looked at the ceiling, and it looked as if it went on forever it was so high. I was snapped out of my mesmerization by the sound of a dozen or so pairs of footsteps heading this way. A group of men in silky clothes walked in with big fake smiles on their face. "good afternoon my liege." one said with a slight nod of the head. "I am the Chamberlin; I manage all household affairs and coin of the kingdom." a short, fat, greasy looking man said in a voice that sounded almost sickly. "I am-" I held my hand up before another person began talking. So this man was the reason the castle was in such disrepair, and the citizens were deprived. I pointed my finger at the bottom of the steps to the throne ordering the man to stand there. "what do the kingdom''s coffers look like?" I asked leaning forward. "Well as of right now we have twenty platinum coins at our disposal." "Only twenty? well, that''s weird, how much are all these decorations worth?" "About two hundred platinum coins my liege." "Hmm, strange, the money spent buying these bobbles could have fielded an army. who is responsible for this?" I could tell he knew where this conversation was going. He swallowed his saliva out of nervousness. "The Duke had expensive tastes my liege." "Strange I didn''t know the Duke was in charge of the coin? Is it not you who guides the ruler so he can make sound decisions?" "Of course I offered him counsel, but he never took my advice." "I have no need for a spineless man who can''t even keep the coin we make. you may be gone." The man looked shocked and was lost for words. "How, how dare you!" he shouted with his face turning bright red. I intend to get rid of all the people on this council and replace them with people I trust so I understood why he was upset. If there was one thing I was good at it was history, and most rulers in history have been manipulated by their fellow nobles in some way. So I couldn''t go soft I must emphasise that I am the queen. "How dare I? How dare I what? Rule a kingdom with people I can trust and find dependable not someone who folds at the slightest threat." He then stormed out of the court fuming mad muttering a few prophanities under his breath. I pointed at the next man and ushered him forward. "You are?" "Herius Ruso, at your service. I am one of the men who will be sitting on war councils, and I lead the guards." "I thought you were the captain of the guard Otto?" "I am, but I need all my plans approved by him." "ah, so you are the reason most of the guards stand around town all day and aren''t spread out evenly among our villages and town." "I deemed the capital more important to defend my liege." This was the type of person I hated the most. He only cares to impress his betters and not think about the little people. "Oh, so the entire village that was killed just the other day means nothing to you!" "of course not my liege I only-" "Everyone leave, I have lost my good mood. Where is my room?" Julian lead me to the former king''s bedroom. The bed was massive covering a large chunk of the room. The cabinet is stood about 8 feet tall. I would need to buy new clothes to fill it up. It was too early for me to sleep, so I came here to change my clothes. I pulled a different pair of clothes out of my satchel, changed and left to meet with Otto.
