《The Half-Blood (Dropped)》 Authors Note Dear Readers, (For those who don''t want to read all this, just go to the end) For those of who read my first attempt at writing and have come to check this out, I sincerely thank you. Unfortunately, I have come to give both bad and good news. During the entire time since the end of "Fantasy Unlimited" to now, I have constantly tried to come up with things to write about. But as many of you all may know, either through experience or just common understanding, writing a story is hard. Writing a good story, is even harder. Suffice it to say, I may have truly given up on trying to come up with a good story on the spot. Not only does it really consume time I don''t have, but I am constantly throwing out each idea as I go along. I would literally spend days writing something, only to throw it away to write something else. It''s literally a never ending cycle... orz But the thing is I continue to try and write. And so here we are now. This is something I recently started and am kind of into. Its got some themes that I like and would like to expand on. However, I initially wanted to write something that I know I would want to write and put it on here when I had a lot written, but who knows when or if that will happen due to my penchant for perfection. So I put it here for a little bit of motivation, in the hopes that I will continue writing it.Support the creativity of authors by visiting the original site for this novel and more. I''m hoping that for those who are still willing to read it, to give me contructive feedback and ideas. Despite it pretty much being a story that I could stop at anytime, if you continue to read it, I would appreciate comments and the like. As for the tags and stuff, not sure which ones I''m really going for so just put what I thought might come up. I''ll change it if need be. I just want to thank those who still stuck with me even after my last failure and for those who will continue with my newest fling (hopefully not a failure haha). Just a heads up though, I am a busy college student so there''s no set schedule. However, if I intend to drop it, I will let you guys know like I did last time. And if I am gone for a period of time, I will most likely let you guys know as well. Also, I''m not sure about the title, if you guys have any ideas, let me know. So, overall, if you have decided not to care and just want something to read no matter if it works out, then I sincerely hope you do enjoy. TL;DR - I''m tired of going through ideas and constantly throwing them away, so I wanted to put it on here as motivation for myself. Beware, this is more for me than any reader so if I stop writing it, you have been warned (Don''t worry, I''ll let everyone know though). There is also no schedule because I am a busy college student. Chapter 1: A Night with the Moonlight Blossom A lone tree stood at the top of the cliff. Its large base spanned tens of feet, but its height only went as far as twenty feet high. Instead, the peculiar tree¡¯s top which was flat with its branches moving out rather up spanned a couple hundred feet. Purple flowers sparkled under the moonlight. Small wisps of steam rose up from the bottom, on the side facing the dark blue lake. A trail of blood made its way to a single figure laying with his bare back against the large tree. He sat there staring at the great full moon. His shoulder length snow-white hair glowed under the gaze of the moon. ¡°The Moonlight Blossom, a single tree that appears for only a single person every thousand years or so under a Super Moon. Nothing¡¯s known about the tree except for its exceptional beauty and unknown ability. Although the description in the books don¡¯t do it enough justice,¡± he thought to himself before coughing up blood. Even with the pain, there was a hint of a smile on his face. With the silent trance broken, he groaned and placed his hand over five long gashes through his abdomen. Steam rose up from the wounds all over his body, as they very slowly healed. Blood seeped out from the spaces of his fingers, but that wasn¡¯t what was killing him and he knew it.Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author''s consent. Report any sightings. Once again, he coughed up blood as he continued to find difficulty breathing. His crushed organs made it too painful for him to move around at all. He held no sense of urgency, instead he tried to enjoy the view for as long as he could. The view calmed his thoughts and soothed his broken soul. The hatred he held towards everything and everyone seemed to fade away as well. Countless memories that surged through his mind were pushed away so that he could appreciate the scenery that appeared before him. Feeling tired, he decided he would close his eyes for a brief moment. He wanted to enjoy this moment for longer but he wanted to let his eyes take a brief rest first. Astrong gust blew through the tree, and seemed to pull all of the flowers¡¯ petals creating a shining wave. They flew towards the glittering lake and scattered atop its surface like an incandescent rain of purple. With a smile, he closed his eyes. Chapter 2: Elise ¡°Reina, you can¡¯t come with me. It¡¯s not safe out there.¡± A young woman seemed to desperately try and convince her seven year old sister. A young girl with a pout on her face seemed to tell her that her persuasion had no effect. Sighing, she finally agreed to let her come under the condition that she stay within her sight at all times. She grabbed her bow that was laid on its side on a wooden table. With a dagger already strapped to her leather belt, she moved to the quiver next to her bow. Twelve wooden arrows stuck out from the quiver, their feather fletching in perfect condition. ¡°Hmm, I¡¯ll have to make some new arrows later,¡± she muttered to herself. Her orange cat-like tail swung back and forth as she thought about the things she would need to do later. ¡°Elise, let¡¯s go, let¡¯s go!¡± Her younger sister put both hands on her hips and pouted at her in front of the open door. Elise couldn¡¯t help but smile before playfully answering back, ¡°Alright, alright. Let me just get my things, unless you don¡¯t want dinner tonight?¡± Reina lost all color in her face hearing her older sister¡¯s words. The thought of not having dinner scared her terribly, so she ran to her sister¡¯s legs and hugged them tightly while apologizing. Reina¡¯s fluffy tail his between her legs during her torrent of apologies. Elise chuckled at her sister¡¯s reaction and told her not to worry. Strapping the quiver onto her back, she and her younger sister made their way out of their modest wooden home. The early spring sun blinded her momentarily as a cool breeze played with her dark brown hair that fell to her shoulders. Even with tight-fitting thin clothes underneath her simple armor, the chilly temperature never registered in her mind. Even Reina, who wore tight fitting clothes, found no discomfort with the weather. Outside were similar wooden houses along with several larger ones near the center of the small village. Other people, with varying tails, were moving about under the morning sun as well. Most had leather armor on, while a few had simple clothing. Similarly, Elise had her own set of simple leather armor: greaves, a breast plate, and bracers. Her armor had their own fair share of marks on them, like nearly all of the others. They made their way towards the thick wooden wall that surrounded the village, greeting everyone who passed by. It was a small community of roughly one hundred beastmen and they were all relatively familiar with each other, so greetings were a commonplace thing. They eventually reached one of the four gates on the wall, which was opened for the day. Standing at each side of the open gate were two men in leather armor. A middle aged man with graying cropped hair and a young man with shoulder-length brown hair. The young man waved enthusiastically towards Elise, who returned his greeting with a smile. Elise spoke up, ¡°Morning Reylin, Jenks.¡± She nodded at the older man first before greeting the energetic Jenks. Reylin simply nodded before facing the forest once again. Jenks immediately spoke, ¡°Hey Elise, going hunting again?¡± He leaned against the long spear he was holding. Its deadly metal tip sparkled under the sunlight, but in Jenks¡¯ hands it seemed like nothing but a toy for show. His brown dog-like tail wagged slightly. Elise answered, ¡°Yeah. Reina didn¡¯t want to stay home so I gave in and decided to take her with me.¡± Reina stuck her tongue out at Jenks before running towards Reylin, whose gentle smile seemed unfitting for his grisly face. Jenks noticing the change in Reylin¡¯s behavior decided to tease him, ¡°What a softie right, Elise? Guarding the wall is a job for hardened fighters, you sure you should be here old man?¡± Reylin¡¯s cat ears twitched but he simply ignored Jenks and continued to entertain Reina. Jenks just shrugged his shoulder with a big smile on his face. ¡°We have to get going, I have to make more arrows later so I don¡¯t want to spend too long out in the forest. We¡¯ll see you guys soon. C¡¯mon Reina.¡± Elise motioned to Reina before walking towards the forest. Reina ran around Reylin one more time before running after Elise, giggling along the way. Elise couldn¡¯t help but to smile at the antics of the two at the gate. Gate duty was normally assigned to the better warriors as they were the first line of defense besides the scouts. As much as they liked to fool around, they were all very serious about their duties. Recently turning eighteen, her official duties for the village would be starting soon, and she could not wait any longer to be of use. Elise didn¡¯t know much about the scouts, along with many others, except that they were some of the best warriors in the entire village, aside from the all-female group. They¡¯re tasked with scouting for potential enemies and monsters, and taking them out if necessary. No one but the chief and his advisors knew how many scouts there were or who they were as the information was usually kept under wraps. Just as both her parents used to be, Elise hoped to become a scout as well. Ending such needless thoughts, the pair entered the forest not much later. Reina followed along patiently, picking flowers and enjoying the scenery. Both made no noise as they moved, one searching for prey with a bow and arrow at the ready while the other simply played around. However, both were attentive to their surroundings.Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation. With their keen senses, they slowly moved deeper into the forest while paying close attention to their surroundings. The constant sound of forest animals kept the two girls in a relatively calm state. Any sane person would have been surprised by Reina¡¯s ability to keep up with Elise, but most in the village knew that Reina was probably more of a genius than Elise or the other two touted ¡®geniuses¡¯ of the newest warrior generation. Elise shrugged off the thoughts and eventually caught three rabbits and a fat squirrel. While she was tying the newly caught rabbit, Elise asked Reina a question, ¡°I think that¡¯s enough. Ready to go back Reina?¡± Not getting an answer, Elise looked around but there was no sign of Reina. ¡°She couldn¡¯t have gotten far and the forest still seemed to be teeming with energy so nothing was probably wrong. She just probably saw something interesting and accidentally got lost," or at least, that was what Elise tried to tell herself. All of a sudden, birds took flight and the animals rushed past her. She could even see some monsters fleeing. Elise couldn¡¯t help but feel something bad about to happen. She knew that animals were very weary of their environment. And the fact that monsters were fleeing, was more telling than any normal animal fleeing. Monsters walk a fine line between life and death just to survive, turning many into fearless creatures. Especially in the mountain range here, survival is much more difficult than many other places. Immediately, she began to feel a chill run down her spine and sweat drenched her entire body. Her body froze momentarily. Even someone like her, who had survived many clashes with monsters, could feel the bloodlust in the air. It felt so thick, that she was having a hard time breathing. The aura that she felt immediately dissipated as fast as it had appeared. Elise regulated her breathing and her heart rate began to calm down. Elise realized that she needed to notify the village, but she would have to find Reina first. She needed to find her as quickly as possible before whatever was out there found either of them or the village. She sprinted ahead in the direction where everything was fleeing from. For the first time in a very long time, fear gripped her heart. Yet she had to at least save her younger sister. She had to. Her grip on the bow was so tight that her knuckles had long turned white. Elise kept an arrow knocked ready to fire at a moment¡¯s notice. She strained her ears to hear, but feline ears like hers, albeit keen, were not as strong as some of her canine counterparts. Her speed had reached max speed as she blurred towards her assumed destination. Reaching several hundred feet in several seconds, she slowed down and searched for her younger sister. Carefully moving around with her weapon at the ready, she used her senses in order to find a hint on Reina¡¯s location. Even with desperation in her step, she moved silently and effortlessly. Her training did not allow her to let herself go even in such a situation. Elise stopped in her tracks. She swore she heard Reina crying. But she couldn¡¯t figure out where it came from. It was too brief of a moment for her to pinpoint where it came from. Taking a chance, she loudly called out, ¡°Reina, where are you? Reina!¡± Making her way, she eventually came out from the tree line and entered a small clearing with a large tree at the center. Short grass encompassed the area and flowers sprouted in spots. Elise found Reina happily playing with a young man with snow-white hair. ¡°What¡¯s a human doing here?¡± She thought to herself. His blood-red eyes were already staring into hers as if he had known exactly where she would have appeared from. His bare upper body looked as if it had been sculpted and his face was incredibly handsome yet gentle at the same time. Elise was momentarily stunned by the young because of the young man, which she found highly suspicious. Getting rid of her ridiculous thoughts, she quickly brought her bow up and aimed at the man. She didn¡¯t know who he was, but something seemed off about him. And she seemed to already be pissed off about him for whatever reason. Elise was fully confident in her skills however. She just needed to make sure Reina would not be used as a hostage, and she was willing to kill the man before her if she had to. She succeeded in getting Reina to come over to her, and they briefly talked about whether the man had done or said anything to her. Reina shook her head and gave a big smile while saying, ¡°I like him! He¡¯s nice and he lets me play with his hair like Mom used to.¡± Elise could only shake her head, she would have to teach Reina about the dangers of others not from the village later. She was just glad that Reina seemed to be unharmed. She also decided to take the man into custody so that the village can question him and his possible connection to whatever monster was out there that could release such bloodlust. Commanding him to walk in front of the pair in order to keep an eye on him, they made their way towards the village. Even the way he walked seemed perfect, which made her dislike the human in front of her. The man reminded her of the village chief¡¯s daughter, Cass, who also seemed so perfect as well. They walked until they finally made their way out of the forest. The sight of the walls entered their vision as well as the small figures of Reylin and Jenks. Even from this distance, she could see them tense up because of the fact that she seemed to be forcefully bringing someone along. Jenks disappeared for a moment, probably letting the higher ups know of the young man with them, before coming back with a firm look on his face. By now she had changed her weapon to her dagger so that she could easily respond to any close quarter combat. She casually walked with it by her side, but she stayed alert the entire time. She watched the young man pat Reina¡¯s head as they walked. The grip on her dagger tightened subconsciously. Elise couldn¡¯t help but feel cautious against someone who could so easily gain Reina¡¯s affection. Earlier, she had continued to stop Reina from getting close to the man, but her constant pleading and the fact that she hadn¡¯t been taken advantage of earlier eventually let her do as she wished, as long as she was careful and listened to her commands during the rest of the walk back. Elise also noticed how his walk never faltered as they neared the village, as if he was completely confident in himself. Anybody who knew of the village in the mountains would feel fear beyond belief if they ever came across them. Yet this man seemed as if there was nothing to worry about. She figured he was either really stupid and ignorant, or someone really powerful. But what really bugged her right now was the fact that there was not a single scent on the man. Which was impossible, or at least unheard of as far as she knew. She muttered under her breath, attempting to solve the mystery that was in front of her. Chapter 3: New Place, New Faces His eyes fluttered open. Birds on branches overhead took flight. Small animals that had been bustling about recklessly dashed for safety. Every living creature took to their own, fleeing from the crimson eyes that blinked awake. Even insects made themselves scarce as they hid for safety. The slight breeze tugged at his hair, which fell to his lower back. The young man pushed himself off of the large tree. His powerfully-built lean body got him up with ease. His porcelain skin glowed with perfection. Suddenly, the sound of whimpering broke his automated behavior, bringing him out of his stupor. Turning towards the sound, his eyes fell on a small girl with a fluffy tail. Flowers were on the ground in front of her. Without knowing, his body disappeared only to reappear in front of the girl. He hugged her gently and patted her head to try and calm the girl down. He gently shushed the girl, letting her clam down. After calming down, she immediately began to play with him and his hair, but he didn¡¯t mind. Actually he quite enjoyed this. A sudden voice rang out from nearby, ¡°Reina, where are you? Reina!¡± ¡°Luckily, it¡¯s the Common Tongue,¡± he thought. After a bit of time, a young woman, with an orange tail, ran out into view. She held a bow in her hand with a set of bows strapped to her back. A couple of rabbits were tied to her belt by their feet. The young man was sitting on the ground with his legs crossed while the little girl was placing flowers into his long hair. She laughed while running around him. Her appearance stopped the girl, who smiled and waved at the young woman. His eyes ever so slightly sharpened, but seeing the little girl, Reina, wave at her innocently, the young woman seemed to be someone related to her in some way. Even when she raised her bow and arrow at him, he remained perfectly calm. She called for Reina to come over, who reluctantly went. She continued to aim her weapon at him and finally asked him a question after briefly speaking with Reina. ¡°Come, I¡¯m taking you to the village. You are to be questioned.¡± He easily submitted and followed the orders of the young woman, Elise, which he soon found out from the ever-so-helpful Reina. They made their way towards the tree line in silence. Or what was supposed to be silence. Reina, who had pleaded with Elise to let her walk with him, was thoroughly denied. He could tell that the young woman¡¯s abilities were quite below the average humans and demons he had known. Although he wasn¡¯t all too familiar with beast men, other than those he had killed, he knew of their small existence and the powerful bodies they possessed. Beast men were similar in ways to demons because both races were able to manipulate parts of their bodies. However, beast men internally utilized mana as well, in order to give them a greater physical advantage considering they were generally weak with normal mana manipulation. They were the perfect war machines on a frontline battlefield. Form what he¡¯s heard, they are considered territorial and isolated compared to humans or demons, tending to their own people. But those who left for occupations like mercenaries, they had rather good prospects. Entering a giant grassy clearing, the sight of a village came into view. He found several people watching him from different distances hidden in the forest. Each seemed to be much more powerful than Elise, but as far as he knew, they were not able to hide themselves from his senses. In fact, they all seemed to be less than what he thought they were supposed to be capable of. But one place is too small of a smaple size to make such a comment, he figured. He kept an eye on them and looked over the pair in front of the gate. Although nowhere near the level of those trying to hide, they were also rather strong. While thinking such things, Reina asked him a question, ¡°Hey, what¡¯s your name?¡± From behind, he could hear Elise trying to stifle her coughing. It seemed like she forgot to ask the important question. Smiling, he answered, ¡°Its Lucifer.¡± Elise, who calmed down quickly, asked, ¡°You don¡¯t have a family name?¡± ¡°I was never given a family name.¡± Lucifer¡¯s answer seemed to stun Elise for a moment. A short silence ensued and would have continued if not for a merry Reina, who asked Lucifer if his name had any meaning. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. ¡°Meaning¡¡± For a moment, Lucifer lost himself in his memories before returning just as quickly to answer the question, ¡°It may have meant something at first, but something like meaning has never meant anything to me.¡± That was the last of their personal questions as the three soon approached the gate. Reina ran over to an older beast man, who she called Reylin, and began to play with the man¡¯s triangular ears. However, Lucifer could tell that the beast man¡¯s concentration lay mostly on him, even if he was trying hard to feign it. A young feline beast man with messy brown hair talked to the three of them, ¡°Come, we¡¯ll take you to the chief. Don¡¯t cause any trouble. We won¡¯t use force unless we have to.¡± After the command, he threw a white cotton shirt at Lucifer who received it with a helpless smile. Reylin who was watching him put the shirt on through the corner of his eyes, flexed his muscles reflexively and nodded approvingly to himself. Lucifer smiled and nodded, ¡°It seems that you guys aren¡¯t very trusting of outsiders.¡± Before he could make any response, Elise nonchalantly whispered to Jenks, ¡°Jenks, let¡¯s go. There¡¯s something I need to tell the chief about.¡± ¡°Why can¡¯t you tell me?¡± ¡°I don¡¯t want others to hear about it, and possibly cause some kind of panic.¡± Jenks nodded his head in agreement. Lucifer, who could also hear the conversation, was slightly curious what information Elise had, but decided not to bring it up. Carrying his spear, his sword strapped to his hip rattled when he swiftly turned leaving Reylin and Jenks¡¯ own replacement at the gate. Reina said her goodbye as well before trotting after the Lucifer, who was also being guarded by a few extra beast men, each with a hand on their own swords. ¡°Bye Lucifer!¡± Lucifer slightly smiled and nodded his head toward the young girl, who left happy. As they walked along the dirt trodden path, Lucifer examined the village. All of the buildings were simple in structure and relatively similar in size, except for those near the center. And each place seemed to have its own small open space. A presumable smithy had gray plumes rising out from its chimney, while the some other large buildings. He figured there was also a large field of some kind since there was an area of space with no buildings within it. None of the buildings had glass windows like he was used to, just wooden openings that could be shut. Nor was their way of living by any means easy it seemed, not that he was used to that either. Along the way, Lucifer saw many beast men watching him, all with rather hard expressions on their faces. For the most part, they all had similar bushy gray tails with occasional black spots, similar to Reina¡¯s. But every once in a while, there would be some with different feline tails or even a canine tail. While there was a number of men, Lucifer noticed that women were much more prevalent. He should ask about the little things while he could. Curious as to why, he asked the group, ¡°Is there a reason why there are more women than men?¡± Elise, who had recently made a reluctant Reina go back home, answered, ¡°In our village, men have a tendency to die much sooner. Even though warriors aren¡¯t discriminated by gender, there are typically more male warriors and they seem to die much more often than us women.¡± Even with such a serious response, Jenks scoffed at the notion but said nothing more as he professionally kept the silence. Lucifer simply nodded his head in understanding, although he felt that she wasn¡¯t telling him the whole truth. ¡°I don¡¯t know much about beast men. Tell me more about your village.¡± Jenks answered this time, making sure Elise wouldn¡¯t give up certain information, ¡°Place is called Yuki Village. We were originally a tribe of snow leopard beast men, but a couple of years ago, the slave industry in human countries sharply increased. Together with the last of the local Direwolf beast men as well as other feline beast men in the southern region, we were forced to settle up in this cursed mountain while constantly defending outselves from the occasional raids by the human group at the base of the mountain. That¡¯s the reason for our diversity, if that¡¯s what you were wondering about.¡± ¡®So it seems beast men don¡¯t typically care what sub-race they are, all beast men are the same huh¡¡¯ Elise butted in giving Jenks some time to cool down, ¡°We¡¯re here.¡± Because the size of the village wasn¡¯t all too big, the escort didn¡¯t take too long to reach the larger buildings. Jenks took a deep breath and slammed the butt of his spear into the ground attracting quite a few looks who then carried on as if it were a normal occurrence. Two guards stood outside the door, nodding to the escort as they passed by. The inside was furnished very modestly. There was living space with a couple of tables. A set of stairs most likely led to a bedroom. Everything seemed to be in perfect order. Sitting at one of the larger tables was muscular beast man in simple tight-fitting clothes that accentuated his body. His height probably stood somewhere near six feet six inches, and his fluffy gray tail with black spots was thick and long as well. An older beast man, with a similar tail stood beside him. He pointed to a chair, ¡°Sit.¡± ¡°How telling. His entire character screams out ¡®strict warrior chief.¡¯ He even has a scar down his right eye,¡± Lucifer mused. Following the order, Lucifer took his seat as the others stood by him ready for swift action if need be. Crossing his legs, Lucifer relaxed and waited for the questions to start. He had his own he would like answered as well so this was a great opportunity. He knew that an equal trade for answers would be beneficial for everyone. But for that to happen, they have to believe that such an option is in their best interest rather than risking a full on interrogation against someone they aren¡¯t familiar with. Lucifer knew he had ways to make them talk regardless. Not that he preferred to use such methods, unless necessary. ¡°I¡¯m Nix, chief of Yuki Village. I¡¯d like to hear who and what you really are Lucifer.¡± Chapter 4: Some Questions Elise walked over to the side of the chief and whispered into his ear so quietly not even Lucifer could hear her. But even if he wanted to know, Nix did not change his facial expression the entire time. After their quick exchange, Elise returned to Lucifer¡¯s side, watching his movements. But Lucifer had his own goals at the moment, so he quickly broke the silence. ¡°I¡¯ll tell you what you want to know. If you want to believe me or not, I¡¯ll leave that up to you. But I have one condition: For every question I answer, you have to answer a question of mine.¡± Nix, whose reactions remained unchanged, agreed. Lucifer smiled inwardly. It seemed that even with such a request, only a couple had slight changes in their expressions. Lucifer put his hand forward, motioning for Nix to begin his questioning. Nix nodded, and asked, ¡°Tell me who you really are?¡± ¡°Lucifer, a former prince of the Lumos Empire.¡± Lucifer nonchalantly told them so, confusing them. Yet, there was no surprise on their face because no one could really believe Lucifer¡¯s words. Elise, who had been quiet the entire time, spoke up, ¡°Lumos Empire, Lumos Empire¡ One of the two great empires from the Golden Age forty thousand years ago, ruled by the High Humans if I remember correctly.¡± Lucifer¡¯s normally calm disposition broke for a moment as he tried to stifle his cough. That was something he wasn¡¯t prepared to hear. And he had never heard of the term high humans either, but labels are just labels. He couldn¡¯t believe how much time had passed, if what Elise said was true. But he had no reason to not believe her because of his time with the Moonlight Blossom. He felt as if his consciousness was vaguely aware of the outside world. Lucifer, at that time, could feel it moving around constantly, but he wasn¡¯t aware of the passing of time as his mind wandered with the Moonlight Blossom. Lucifer was actually quite terrified over the span of time that had passed, but at the same time, he couldn¡¯t help but feel free. He also couldn¡¯t help wonder why the Moonlight Blossom had the ability to keep him alive or desired to do so in the first place. For a moment, Lucifer couldn¡¯t help but laugh out loud, getting the attention of the others who were previously whispering to each other. Lucifer, for once, couldn¡¯t hold back some pent up emotions that had been held in for so long. Truth be told, due to the flow of time, many of his grievances were assuaged. Although he still bore some hatred that could never be washed away, he also had been given forty thousand years of thinking time which had helped him become more objective and understand many things within his heart. Yet, even with all of that, Lucifer still could not help but laugh out loud merrily. It was a pure, unadulterated laugh. A clear and resounding echo that forced everyone speechless. ¡°Do we look like the type to joke around!?¡± One of the guards behind him grabbed Lucifer¡¯s head and smashed it down against the wooden table, forming cracks on the dull surface. ¡°Kai, you know better than that! Leave immediately!¡± Nix glared angrily at the middle-aged beast man with a white wolf¡¯s tail. ¡°I apologize for my behavior, chief. But I won¡¯t apologize for what I did to this brat.¡± Without waiting for a response, the beast man, Kai, made his way swiftly out of the building. ¡°Ah, sorry. For a moment there, I thought I dozed off and fell onto the table.¡± Lucifer brought his head while blood trickled down. Steam rose slowly up as he licked up what rolled down with a smile. He thanked Elise mentally for giving him a needed answer on the current time period. ¡°I believe it¡¯s my turn. I¡¯d like to know just where I currently am.¡± Nix and the others couldn¡¯t help but watch Lucifer¡¯s wound slowly closed. Everyone understood that self-regeneration was not possible without using a high ranking healing spell. But for it to have been chantless was even more of a feat than knowing a few high ranking spells, not to mention healing magic which was more specialized. Seeing his wounds close momentarily stunned them.If you come across this story on Amazon, it''s taken without permission from the author. Report it. Nix recovered his bearing and answered, ¡°Although I have a difficult time believing some of the things you¡¯ve said, there are a few things I do know. According to teachings, the any direct member of the Lumos family was said to have hair as white as snow. Though there is some information regarding the Lumos family, there was no written record of a Prince Lucifer. However, I also do know that the telling characteristic of a direct member of the Nox family was said to be their eyes. The Imperial Family of the Nox Empire was said to possess eyes as red as blood and as deep as the ocean. No one else in history was mentioned to have ever had red eyes, so why do you?¡± The chief couldn¡¯t help but look suspiciously at Lucifer. There was something that was off about him, but there was no reason for him to lie about such things as well or fake such a ridiculous identity for that matter. But what about his eyes? ¡°That is because I am part demon as well.¡± Lucifer vaguely answered, not caring about his identity. It seemed like his appearance isn¡¯t considered taboo since no one had negatively reacted to him yet. ¡°At the moment, some of the things you¡¯ve said seem to be true, especially since high humans and true demons have all died off, leaving only their washed up versions of their lineage. But you have no reason to lie, and I have no other ideas of what to think when it comes to your identity, so I have no choice really but to believe you.¡± With just a single question, Nix was already more confused than he was before. His ears twitched as he realized he hadn¡¯t answered Lucifer¡¯s question. ¡°Village chief, where are we?¡± ¡®Yuki village, which truthfully isn¡¯t really a village but an emergency encampment, is on Romere Mountain, near the southern end of the Azen Continent.¡¯ Such knowledge was helpful for Lucifer to pinpoint his position on the continent, but at the same time, the great passing of time has probably affected the locations of certain populated areas. All of a sudden, Kai, who had left earlier, burst into the room and exclaimed, "Chief, we have a report from a scout. The humans are coming up the mountain again, roughly eight miles away!¡± Nix stood up and yelled back, ¡°What!? I thought that after the last attack, they would take a little bit longer to recoup. How could this be possible?¡± Kai¡¯s killing intent leaked out as he explained, ¡°Chief, the scouts have also scouted members of the Titan Bear Clan. They probably formed an alliance so they could finally get rid of us!¡± The atmosphere had grown intense and bloodlust slightly leaked out from those present. Although Nix was the only one who never let out any aura, hints of extreme anger showed in his eyes. ¡°Gods damn the Titan Bear Clan! Looks like they finally found the right opportunity to finally get what they wanted,¡± Nix growled out slamming out against the table, destroying it. Dust flew up into the air. ¡°Chief, I thought I¡¯d let you know but it seems they brought out all of their people along with the humans. I think this is their final attack in order to capture those they want to enslave.¡± Kai eye¡¯s also held animosity in his eyes at the mention of person named Claw. ¡°Ley and Jenks, come with me. Elise and the rest watch over Lucifer. Don¡¯t let him leave or do anything that could harm the village.¡± Nix and those who would go with him made their way to the exit. With the sudden arrival of the humans, Lucifer¡¯s existence had been clearly suspected once again. ¡°Everyone go tell the others to prepare for our final battle. I want at least twenty warriors guarding those who aren¡¯t fighting. Quickly bring them to the main hall. We don¡¯t have the ability to keep running away this time.¡± ¡°Chief Nix, I¡¯d like to help you fight.¡± ¡°Lucifer, I don¡¯t want to hear you speak at this moment. Nor do you have the power to do anything as a single person here or out there. If I were you, I would sit tightly and answer all of my questions when I get back.¡± Nix growled, his large canines showing. ¡°I help you, you help me. I¡¯ll do something about your little problem and you give me the information that I want. Information is only useful for those that can make use of it anyways, no?¡± ¡°Lucifer, there is no way-¡± Nix was stopped halfway through his sentence. He immediately found it difficult to breathe. Around him, the others except Elise fell to the floor gasping. Both Nix and Elise¡¯s eyes were wide with terror. They¡¯ve been through near-death experiences before but this feeling was completely different. Fear kept Nix facing the door, unable to turn around to face the aura. Elise¡¯s voice trembled as she found it difficult to speak, ¡°That¡¯s impossible¡ It was you? I thought the humans had released an S ranked magical beast¡ Even Uncle felt it all the way from here back then. H-how many did you have to kill to-¡± Lucifer cut her off, ¡°Chief Nix. I strongly urge you to reconsider. What have you got to lose?¡± Laughing, a pair of crimson eyes gleamed through the dark room. Ugh, Notice Hello folks, Sorry for the long delay, but I''ve recently been in Japan for family reasons for approximately a month. Wifi there was both slow and not always available where I was staying. But during my stay there, I''ve realized some things. I''ve realized that this story doesn''t really have anywhere to go from where I left off. It was probably pretty stupid of me to send a character tens of thousands of years into the future with no plan ahead (no plot). I thought I knew where to take it but as each chapter progressed, the path of the plot only grew narrower, limiting my options of where to take the book. Another thing I realized is that after going through some stuff in real life, there''s more to a story that I want to tell. I realized that I want to write something that resonates with me even more, whether it be in the traditional fantasy setting hosted here or some other way like an actual more real world setting.Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! Anyways, what I wanted to tell you guys is that I will be dropping this story and writing something that I feel resonates with me even more. I might also try some other types of stories as well but I will probably not be putting that on here unless I am well into the story because I do not want to have any more drops (I find them discouraging for both the readers and the author). Thank you guys for reading, and hopefully, we will see each other on here in the future. Truly yours, Marine
