《Ravana》 Chapter One Chapter One In the ancient city of Devgana The dawn had just passed marking the beginning of the night. Though the nights were supposed to be dark, it was different in Devgana. It was a city where gods were as common as humans on earth these days. Yakshas were seen laughing flirting and teasing the gods; and the Nagas were seen to be dancing seductively. Overall the whole place was radiant, filled with light and magic in the air. However the queerest of things were not the different species or the gods that were present. The strangest were the seven humongous palaces floating in the air above the city, looking like emperors looking down on everything. Those palaces must have at the very least been a thousand kilometers above the land, which should have made those palaces look like specks of dust. Yet even after that long a distance, the majestic presence of the palace were unaffected and untouched by the distance. The gods, Nagas and Yakshas below could only look at the palaces in awe and admiration if not with fanatic worship. The seven palaces all looked the same and even the people working or living in those palaces would be flustered and lost to figure out which was theirs if not for the huge name plaques hanging right above the palaces. In one of the seven palaces, A young man was standing in the middle of the huge hall which seemed to have been made of god, rubies and diamonds. The man wore a golden armor in his body and a golden mukut in his head which seemed to have priceless rubies and jewel added to increase its shine. He would have looked right at home in the hall if not for the flustered and panicky aura being emitted from him. At the head of the hall, was a man startlingly similar to him. The only difference was that the man wore a simple piece of white cloth and looked to be in his late years. Frankly the man didn¡¯t look like he belonged there at all and would have been more at home in a middle of a peaceful jungle or mountain. "Father we have to do something. The heir to that family is about to be born. On top of that it''s from a rakhas mother. He even left Illavida and her son to fall in love with that She-devil. After thousand years of aligning with the gods, that guy chose to fall in love with a rakshas? At this rate won''t that rakshas be above us? What are we going to do Father? How can we even let that child exist?" The young man spoke in a frantic voice. However the old man didn¡¯t respond at all. Seeing this, the young man seemed to get irritated and shouted in a loud and forceful tone " Father, it will be a humiliation to us if that rakshas enters¡¡¡.." Suddenly an invisible wave seems to bind the young man. Fear could be evidently seen in his eyes. The old man opened his eyes and suddenly the aura around him started to change. It looked like that of a wild beast that locked onto his prey. "Lower your voice stupid brat! Do I look like I need you to teach me what to do?" Whimpering sound could be heard from the young man as the pressure around him seemed to increase and blood could be seen dripping from his nose. The old man ignored this and continued" You don¡¯t even see the actual picture and keep on blabbering about that female rakshas who defeated you. You really are blinded by your rage and obsession. However, what you said is true." Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon. As the young man trembled hearing those words and hope could be seen in his eyes, the old man sighed and continued" That child can be a great threat to us considering his heritage from both his parent''s side. Just from his bloodline alone it''s nearly guaranteed that he''s going to reach our level, what if¡.." just thinking about the possibilities made the man shudder. "Somehow we have to take care of the kid. The world doesn¡¯t need another Principal diety, a Primal." In another palace, In a huge room servants were running around frantically and the whole place seemed frantic. Loud cries of a woman could be heard shouting in pain. The woman would have looked beautiful if not for the scary atmosphere and blood covering her. Holding her had stood a man. Looking at his clothes there was no doubt that he was a sage, and from the loving expression he showed towards the woman it could be seen that they were a couple. The stomach of the woman was blotted which showed that the woman was about to give birth and was in a lot of pain. "Just a bit more Kaikesi, Our baby is nearly here." The man was a Vishrava a great sage, son of Pulastya who was the palace lord and the woman was Kaikesi a princess. Usually when the grandson of the palace lord is to be born there would be many great people around, however that was not the case here. Except a few number of servants, there was only the couple there. In a hall of the same palace, many gods, nagas and yakshas were gathered and were creating a commotion. In front of them were six people with white clothing that defined them as sages. They were all standing in front of a person sitting in a throne who was a sage as well. 0ne of the seven sages standing spoke to the sage in the throne "Pulastya, you of all people should know better that the devas and rakshas don¡¯t mix well, yet your own son married one. You know what kind of disaster this might bring about. Many of the gods are still ignorant of this fact but once they learn of this, all will conspire together to bring this palace down not to talk about the fate of the child itself." Many other people kept blabbering the same thing and started demanding for the child and the mother to be killed. However Pulastya kept quiet. Finally some of the seven sages couldn¡¯t take this any longer and said "Enough! As the direct descendants of the primal, we shall judge this for all of our sakes. The mother and the child will be exiled to the mortal world. However, the father Vishrava should remain here in the palace and is not allowed to accompany the mother and the child. Now all of you LEAVE!" As the verdict was already made, the gods, yakshas and nagas started leaving and only the seven sages remained. Looking at the quiet lord on the throne who still seemed to be in his own world, one of the seven sages sighed and one of them said" Sorry brother, but what was done had to be down." Saying this all of them started dissipating like mists and finally only the man remained. What the others didn¡¯t see while they left was the small smile hanging in the face of Pulastya. A small voice echoed in the hall. "You still haven¡¯t understood the will of the primal. Nobody can change what''s about to happen now. A storm shall soon come; let''s see if we survive this." In the middle of such commotion, thus was born Ravana; one of the most powerful beings ever to roam the universe. Chapter 2 Chapter 2 Fifteen years later, In a mountain at the edge of mortal plane, Cries of children could be heard in a simple hut surrounded by trees. A couple could be seen peacefully sitting in the hut carrying a small girl with them who was clawing on her mother''s chest probably for the nurturing milk that she needed. A lazy kid could be seen slumbering and drooling beneath a tree near the hut whereas another child could be seen reading papers with Sanskrit words written in them. The kid seemed fascinated by the tales in the paper and was really engrossed in them. All in all it was a beautiful morning with a harmonious air surround the mountain. Suddenly an anguished cry of an animal could be heard from the surrounding trees. Yet the children and the couple didn¡¯t seem too startled or scared. Instead the children had a look of anticipation in their face. A shadow of a huge animal could be seen as if it was crawling which would unnerve many a great warrior. As light fell on the shadow, it could be seen that the shadow was of a huge bison. The bison was at least 8 feet tall in length and 7 feet in width, which made it taller than a normal human size. The strange thing was however not the size of the bison but the young child that seemed to be dragging it effortlessly. It seemed nearly improbable that the child could actually drag the thing so easily. Even 2 grown men would have difficulty dragging such a carcass around. Even the gods would be shocked to see the scene. The child dragged the carcass in front of the couple and dropped it there. "Mother here''s our food for tonight. Here, let me hold little sister now." The child happily spoke and then extended his hand to carry his sister. Then he left with his brothers to play around in the forest. As the children left, the man spoke with a soft sigh "Our child is growing Kaikesi. If only he had gotten proper resources and knowledge, he would be a bright shining star by now. Too bad we are in this kind of predicament." The woman with a shy smile in her face spoke" Yet, I''m happy with things as they are now. We may not have gold or servants or palaces with us but we do have each other. I''m still thankful for that." "Yes but for how long? Sooner or later they will find me. I fear what will happen to you and the children then." The man spoke. The couple was none other than Kaikesi and Vishrava who once lived in one of the seven palaces of Devgana, the abode of gods. As per the agreement made among the seven sages and the gods, only the mother and the child were supposed to leave. However, it should be known that Vishrava was the son of Pulastya, one of the seven great sages that were above gods. Naturally being the beloved son of Pulastya, he was told of the situation beforehand. Thus as soon as the child was born, he had escaped through a portal into one of the mortal planes and hidden there with had been fifteen years. In the span of fifteen years, 3 other children had been born into their family. As the parents were talking the children were playing near the other side of the forest. But no one who saw them would say that they were playing. This was because except the eldest son who carried the child the other two had maces and swords in their hands, with many different weapons in a pavilion. Sparks and shockwaves could be seen as they fought.Find this and other great novels on the author''s preferred platform. Support original creators! The eldest son of the family was named Ravana of fifteen years with whom the couple had escaped to the mortal plane. The second brother was Vibhisana who was thirteen years old. From the name itself, both Ravana and Vibhisana were polar opposites. Ravana meant loudly roaring, roaring to shake the heavens while Vibhisana meant listening calmly. Ravana liked to fight and test his strength whereas Vibhisana liked sitting calmly and using his mind. However the two brothers had a common thirst for knowledge. Due to this they got along well. Ravana usually organized the hunt and Vibhisana exchanged the hunt for other important things like clothes, seasonings with the nearby village which was just down the mountain. In this way their system worked well. The third brother however was different from both of them. He liked taking his life slow and easy. Though in brute strength both the brothers were not a match for him, he rarely showed off and was usually found sleeping. The little child was the only female sibling they had. So naturally she was pampered more by all the family members. The third brother was named Kumbhakarna and the sister was named Surpanakha. Kumbhakarna was 7 years old wheras Surpanakha was a year and half old. As the boys were mock fighting against each other producing sounds like that of valiant warriors "Yaah", "Die", etc, the little girl was clapping. Seeing the little sister so jubilant, Ravana softly laughed and spoke "Suppu, you having fun? Well then, elder brother is going to join in as well." Saying this he got up and walked to the pavilion. Closing his eyes he chose a random weapon which turned out to be a spear. Now since ancient time, mostly normal human warriors, devas and rakhsas were allowed to choose a single weapon, they then used the same kind of the weapon for their whole life. Only prince or those with excellent talent were allowed to choose more than one weapon. However, Ravana was different. Kumbhakarna had an unmatched physical body, Vibhisana had the calmness he used to create strategis and Ravana had the unique talent to sense and feel the weapon. Also both their parents had trained them to use different weapons. Since Kumbhakarna had physical prowess, he liked using a mace and its variant like a club. Vibhisana disliked fighting yet he could use a sword or sabre combined with a shield properly. Ravana was trained to use every weapon properly. He had trained in bow and arrow sonce childhood. He also learned to use spear, mace, sword properly from his father. However his favorite weapon was a trident which was taught to him by his mother. He also had interest in music, and could be seen playing Veena leisurely to soothe his crying sister or to get praised by his brothers. As Ravana started using his spear, he firstly started of slow. Even with starting slow, the air seemed to screech as he stabbed the spear forward. He then slowly started doing complicated moves with increasing speed. As the speed increased only blurs could be seen. Even the fighting brothers stopped their spar and watched with rapt fascination as Ravana fiercely moved the spear. As the speed increased, three Ravana could be seen each seemingly doing different moves creating a ferocious air around them. Seeing this, both the brother''s eyes flickered for a while and then determination could be seen in them. Thus they too started practicing hard with their own weapons. As the sky started darkening, moon and stars could be seen coming out in the sky. Rumbling sounds could be heart coming out from the children as they were famished due to hunger. They stopped their training and Kumbha carried their little sister. They went to the hut where their parents were waiting for them. The children ate ravenously as the food was laid out before them. Even the little girl Suppu, ate some pieces of meat and then fell asleep yawning in a cute way. It was a blissful atmosphere which would make even the gods jealous. However it was not meant to last. This atmosphere turned out to be the calm before the storm, ending their happy carefree life and bringing a turning point in their lives. Chapter Three Chapter 3 Suddenly, rumbling came from the sky, lightning could be seen tearing across it. Vishrava and Kaikesi were startled. Both suddenly got up and walked out of their simple hut. The children too seemed o realize that something was amiss. Those children didn¡¯t know about their ancestry as their parents never told them, so they were unaware of the danger they were in. the most the children could think about the danger was rain falling and flooding their simple hut. However, the perception of the children were about to change. As they walked outside, a stunning scene awaited them. A line was suddenly seen in the sky. At first it didn¡¯t look too noticeable. However it grew and grew until it formed a hole huge enough for a person to enter. Dozens of similar scenes were seen in the sky. From each of those, men dressed in golden or silver armor came out. Many had ruby studded breastplates and each of them had a Mukut in their head. Almost a hundred of them must have gathered over the hill that Vishrava and his family were staying at. Vsihrava knew what those holes were and he knew it was last he was going to see of them today. He knew that the big shots were yet to come. Those holes that seem to suddenly come in to the sky were portals. Usually these portals could only be found in specific place and were for the private use of each god. Those men that came out from the portals were gods as well. The gods used them when they visited the mortal plane to have some fun or when they needed the fulfillment of certain prophecies. These were usually put at the temples of the gods. But he knew these portals were different. Portals like these which appeared in mid air couldn¡¯t be created by gods at their level of power. He knew it must have been one of the seven sages who did this. Vishrava himself had come through one of these portals when he escaped to the mortal plane. A blurry figure suddenly appeared on top of the gods. Vishrava and Kaikesi froze as they saw the figure approaching. As the figure drew closer, one could see that the person was dressed in a white cloth. He didn¡¯t have any of the golden armors or breastplate nor a mukut in his head, but every of the gods seem to dim in his presence. It looked like the man was one with the world. He was one of the seven sages, Kashyapa. The gods might not know but Visrava knew that one had to fully grasp the laws of space to be able to come so easily and naturally into the mortal plane and to create hundreds of those portals. Visrava too had studied the laws of space, but he had only grasped the edges of the law. He knew that it was very hard to learn even the basic law of space, but today he saw a sage who had at the very least understood the essence of space laws. Kashyapa slowly descended from the sky and floated towards the couple. Behind him five golden armored gods followed. The children stared widely with mouths agape as they descended from the sky. Their eyes even started looking glazed as if their mind couldn¡¯t comprehend the things that they were seeing. As they reached the ground, one of the gold armored god moved forward. The golden armored gods were more powerful than those gods with silver armor almost by an entire level. He tried to unsheathe the sword on his waist and arrogantly spoke" Vishrava, you defied the seven sages and betrayed their trust, for this treason¡." Suddenly an overwhelming pressure descended on the god. The god froze and slowly turned back. A terrifying aura came from Kashyapa which didn¡¯t match with his benevolent expression and placed a hand on the shoulder of the god. "Who told you to speak out of turn?" A black opened up just in front of the shocked god. Fear and despair was seen on his eyes. A little push by Kashyapa and the god went tumbling into the space which disappeared as suddenly as it appeared. The surrounding ones all shuddered as they realized the fate of the one that was pushed into that dark space. The space led to a part of the netherworld where a strange fleshy body lived. It had no conscience or intelligence. Once something entered the space it would paralyze it and slowly and torturously suck the soul out of it.Did you know this story is from Royal Road? The overbearing pressure faded away as if it never had been there. Vishrava stepped forward and joined his palms together (Namaste) and bowed forward."Uncle, what brings you here to my humble abode?" He spoke. The children were surprised as the saw this. To this day they hadn''t known the ancestry of their parents. They had seen the children of the villagers with their uncles, grandfathers and other relatives, but had never seen their own. Naturally, they had assumed that their parents didn¡¯t have any relatives. But seeing this scenario, they grew curious about their ancestry. Kashyapa laughed bitterly and said " My dear Nephew, you know what I''m here for." With a sigh he said "You have to return with them right now. It has been decided by the sages." The smile on Vishrava''s face didn¡¯t fade at all. Instead he smiled and said "Are you here to make sure that I don¡¯t escape, Uncle?" Kashyapa didn¡¯t reply and turned his back towards Vishrava. With a sad look in his eyes, Kashyapa said" Arrest him." He then waved his hand which pushed the children and Kaikesi away from the place which was obviously going to be the field of battle. Vishrava did nothing to prevent this as he knew that Kashyapa was doing this only to move them out of harm''s way. As soon as those words came out, all the gods above started unsheathing their weapons. Some had a club in their hand while others had maces, spears, swords, spears, shields, axes and others in their hand. All started charging towards Vishrava. Vishrava with the same smile on his face moved forward as well. One of the golden armored god in front of him stabbed forward with his sabre. The attack was so strong that ripples could be seen in the space. It didn¡¯t seem possible for the lean and seemingly powerless, Vishrava to fight against that. However, a huge piece of the earth suddenly seemed to rise up. This not only disturbed the pace of the attack of the golden armored god, but also deflected the attack. As he was distracted by the attack another golden armored god yelled" Watch out!" He turned his head and saw a golden orb of fire piercing towards him. He wanted to block it but the earth suddenly turned to swamp and bound his hands and feet. The other gods tried to help him but the trees around them started entangling them. "BOOM!" a huge bang sounded as the golden orb of fire hit the god. Dust floated up. As the dust cleared all the gods saw was the charred piece of land remaining. All the gods were shocked as they saw this scene. They finally realized why the sages had sent so many gods to capture a single man. The golden armored god was a strong one even able to fight against 3 other at the same time. But he was slaughtered as easy as a chicken. At such a young age, Vishrava power was frightening. It hadn¡¯t been even 50 years since he was born and he was already this strong. It was guaranteed that he would reach a sage''s level of power if he lived long enough. In this way Vishrava showed his might like a proud tiger that looked down and frowned at the action of deer''s trying to attack it. Chapter Four Chapter 4 The remaining gods seeing this started releasing their own attacks on Vishrava. The sky was filled with lightning and fire, yet none of the attacks seemed to near Vishrava. The distance between the gods and Vishrava increased as well. Vishrava in turn waved his hand and a bow appeared out of nowhere. He just fired a single arrow high above the sky. Seeing him do this some of the silver armored gods started laughing. But the golden armored gods and some silver ones grew pale in face as they saw this. Some summoned shield and started covering themselves while other started running. The remaining gods were either laughing or puzzled and looking at Vishrava as if he had gone mad. No one looked at the arrow above except Kashyapa who sighed. Kashyapa had realized the weapon and the technique that Vishrava had used. He couldn''t help but feel proud. Suddenly the light of the moon disappeared and whooshing sounds came from the sky. The laughter of the gods froze as they turned their head towards the sky. Terror could be seen on their face as hundreds of thousands of arrow fell from the sky above. The gods tried using their power to destroy the arrow or to cover themselves up but to noavail. The arrow didn¡¯t spare any target that got hit. Even the shields enchanted by the power of gods were cut through like tofu. Those that ran were not spared as well. The golden armored gods were injured as well. He splendor of their armor dimmed and injuries could be seen on their bodies. Their arms and legs were pierced as well, so that they wouldn¡¯t be able to contribute to the fight. Only Kashyapa remained unaffected. All in all out of almost a hundred gods sent, only Kashyapa and the three golden armored gods remained. Seeing their plight, the remaining gods hurried towards, Kashyapa and pleaded" Lord Kashyapa, look what has happened to us. Our brothers all lay dead on this wasteland. Only you can save us now. Please do something." Kashyapa knew that he had to join the fight now. He really didn¡¯t want to fight his own nephew who was the pride and joy of his life, but it still had to be done. He waved his hand which pushed the gods behind him saying "Stand Back." Seeing, Kashyapa moving forward, the face of Vishrava grew grave but the expectation for the upcoming battle could be seen. He too readied himself as the bow disappeared. The early bird gets the worm, thinking this, Vishrava attacked first. Multiple volleys of lighting fell from the sky towards Kashyapa as Vishrava attacked. But the former stood still. He didn¡¯t even move because he didn¡¯t have to. A door like space opened above his head and the attack was absorbed into that space. A similar door opened behind Vishrava at the same time. Seeing this, the face of Vishrava grew even graver. He recollected himself and moved away fast from the space behind him which released the lightining. Even though he moved fast the lighting still hit him. On top of that the lightning seemed to have gotten stronger once it passed through the space. Bruised and battered he was pondering how this happened, when a shadow appeared behind him. The shocked Vishrava knew that the fight was over and there was nothing else he could do except resign himself to his fate. The shadow was none other than Kashyapa who muttered some words and a black binding chain appeared around him. It bound Vishrava who fell to the ground. The remaining three gods were in awe as they saw this. Even though it might seem like it took a large amount of time, it all happened in an amount of time required for breathing once. This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version. Kaikesi and Vishrava both knew that it was only a matter of time before they were found by the gods. They knew this and so they had cherished every moment of their past fifteen years together, knowing that they had to part someday. From afar all Vishrava could do was look into the proud but tear filled eyes of Kaikesi. But the children were different. They didn¡¯t know what was happening. All they saw was their father getting bound in chain and was bleeding. For the children, this was a moment of helplessness and fear seeing their hero getting taken down in such a way. This was the moment when they started actively thirsting for power. This was the moment that would change their life. Suppu started crying in the arms of her mother and started calling out to her father in her childish voice. The three brothers ran towards their father. Kashyapa did nothing to stop this. The three gods tried to move forward to take Vishrava away but seeing Kashyapa doing nothing they stopped their steps as well. Kaikesi too slowly moved forward. The three boys reached the father first. They were trying hard not to cry as they saw their father like that. "father¡" was all they could say. Vishrava gazed lovingly at them and said "You have grown my children. Father''s sorry that he can no longer see you grow for quite a while hmm." Hearing this, the children could no longer stop their tears and started weeping. Kaikesi reached the children and Vishrava at the time as well. Both of them looked at each other. No words were required to communicate between them. After a while Vishrava looked towards the daughter Suppu, who was still crying looking towards the father and trying to move towards him. If the mother was not clutching her so tightly, she might have fallen from her grasp. After what seemed like an eternity, Vishrava looked back towards his children. He then continued "Do not trouble your mother much. And take special care of your sister. Now that I''ll be gone, you have to depend on each other to survive. Father will be going now but someday he will be back. Till then take care of your mother for me. Ravana, you are the eldest, so, I''ll leave all the responsibility in your shoulders." As he finished saying this the gods moved forward. A space opened right before them. The children tried to stop the gods from taking him but Kashyapa appeared before them, and murmured a mantra. The children were paralyzed as this happened. They could only watch helplessly as their father was taken away. As he was being dragged away, Vishrava stopped in front of Kashyapa. Kashyapa turned towards him as well and said" Go, I''ll stay here for a while." For those who didn¡¯t know or who weren¡¯t Vishrava, those words wouldn¡¯t have much meaning. But Viskrava understood that this meant his family was protected. The other gods could come at any time and find the children and Kaikesi. Then who knows what might happen? But with Kashyapa staying there, no gods or any other beings would dare to make a move. Due to this Vishrava was grateful towards his uncle."Thank you" he said. He then moved forward. Before he went into the portal he turned behind to look towards his family. He smiled at them and said "Stay united and Stay strong my children." Then he went along with the gods into the dark portal leaving everything he loved behind and hoping for the best. As he went, he didn¡¯t see the look of determination, resolve and hatred on the face of Ravana. All he saw was his child. The gods didn¡¯t see this either because if they had, they would have known what the future held for them. They would know the consequence of their action. But they didn¡¯t see this. They didn¡¯t realize the action they took would create a great power capable of making the world tremble. But soon they would. Chapter Five Chapter 5 Vishrava had been taken away. This hit the children hard especially Ravana. Kashyapa knew the plight the family was going through. The little girl Suppu had cried herself to sleep. On the other hand the sniffling children and Ravana were staring at an unwanted man standing in their house. The man was Kashyapa. According to Ravana and the other children point of view, this man was the one responsible for their father getting taken. He was the man solely responsible for defeating their father. Due to this they hated this man. Apparently Kaikesi felt differently. Not only had she brought the man to the house, she had also given him, the choicest of the meat which Ravana had hunted and had also handed over their sweet sleeping sister to him. HOW COULD SHE DO THIS? Did she not see what happened outside? They were especially stunned when their mother said"Children, Pay respect to your Grandfather. He''s the uncle of your father." How could such a cruel person be their uncle? Not only had they never seen him, due to him their father was also taken away. Ravana could not accept this. He and his brothers who were of the same mind as well, just stood there without doing anything. Seeing this Kaikesi got angry. Kashyapa merely smiled and walked towards the forest outside the hut. He sat underneath the tree and started meditating carrying Suppu in his arms. Ravana could keep still anymore and asked his mother" Mother, why is that guy still in our house. Did you not see what he did?" Hearing Ravana, Kaikesi sighed and muttered "Maybe I should start telling you children now." Hearing her mutter, Vibhisana asked" Tell us what mother?" Kaikesi looked at her children and started speaking "You see, we are not normal humans." Hearing this, the children were a little startled but didn¡¯t look overly shocked. Kaikesi was a little surprised by this. But then again if the children got overly shocked it would be weird. They were able to do things that even the strong warriors of the village were unable to. They were able to hunt animals larger and stronger than normal. And they had just seen their father fight in such a spectacular way. This had made the children numb to any other feelings. Seeing this Kaikesi continued. "Your father and I were born in different worlds. Your father was born in one of the most influential place in heaven. He was born into one of the seven palaces of heaven. These palaces were owned by the seven sages except for the palace of your father. His uncle was the sage but his father was the palace lord. No one complained about this though. The seven sages were very powerful. They were known as the messengers of the primal and were of different races as well. Due to this, the status of these palace members was only less than that of King Indra and his subjects and the leader of each palace were even more influential. Even Indra had to treat them with respect. Your father was born as the son of Pulastya the palace lord. The man you just saw outside was his brother Kashyapa. The seven sages rarely got replaced by others and the last one to be replacing a sage was your uncle Kashyapa. In an era there were never more than seven sages. Some of the sages aligned themselves to the gods while some remained neutral. In such a place your father was born." "Me, on the other hand was born in the netherworld. My father Somali, your grandfather was the king there. He and I never got along well. He never really cared about me, probably because he already had ten sons and four more daughters." She laughed bitterly. Controlling herself she continued "My mother Tataka was a yakhsa princess. She was a strong woman whenever anyone else was around. However, she was too deep in love with my father. She never went against anything my father said. My father also listened to her quite well."Love what you''re reading? This was the way before I was born and probably will continue until one of either race is wiped out. Once when I had escaped from home to go to the mortal world, I was attacked by some gods. I don¡¯t know how but the gods found out. They had sent some powerful deities as they wanted to capture a princess of the demon king. I somehow managed to escape them and they kept on chasing. Indra himself sent a red litghtning bolt which hust scraped me. Even though it had just scraped me, it injured me a lot and I started losing my powers. I somehow managed to escape into a forest which had a hut nearby. I thought that it was the end. The gods had caught up and were about to take me as prisoner. But then your father came. He was nothing special to look at first. I mean he had a handsome face, but he seemed like a normal person. The gods probably thought so as well, and when he questioned them, the arrogant gods attacked. All I did was blink my eye and all the gods lay dead before me. I fell unconscious after that. When I came to, I was lying in a bed and your father was taking care of me. I was severely wounded, so it took months of taking care before I recovered. During this time your father and I fell in love. I learned of your father''s heritage and he learned of mine. I learned that he was already a married person and had a son. But I didn¡¯t care as we were too much in love. Besides it was natural for a strong person to have many wives." She seemed to reminisce those happy times by the glazed look in her eyes. "I then met his family who seemed to have come there to visit him. I thought they wouldn¡¯t accept me but there was no problem at all even after they learned that I was a rakshasa(demon). I also met Illavida, who obviously didn¡¯t like me and her son. Your father then took me to heaven as he realized I was with his child." She looked lovingly at Ravana. "But those gods of the gods in heaven didn¡¯t like a Rakshasa being there. Some of the other palace also disapproved this. But they couldn¡¯t do anything to me. However things changed when they realized I was with a child. They started spreading rumors that this was a trap for the gods. That Somali the demon king had arranged for his daughter to seduce Vsihrava, so that a powerful demon would be born. Even Indra came to plead and pressure your grandfather, however he didn¡¯t budge. In the end a compromise was made that I would be allowed to stay there until the child was born. Then I would be exiled along with the child. After that I would be free game to any god who hunted me." Hearing this, the children were enraged. She said" but your father, both grandfathers (Pulastya and Kashyapa) formed a plan to make your father and I escape as soon as you were born. Your grandpa Kashyapa himself made the enchantment to hide us for so long. Then we came to live here in this rural mountain, far from the reach of the civilization of gods or demons that is until today when they found us." Then looking at Kashyapa she said "If that man hadn''t been here today, then those gods would have targeted not only your father but us as well. They might even have succeeded in wiping is out. So you should thank him for this." Hearing this, the children got quiet. All of them had different thoughts. Kumbhakarna who was simple minded just believed his mother and was easily convinced into accepting Kashyapa. Vibhisana, who was the calm minded and the clever one thought deeply. He realized that the man was really powerful and could easily kill them, yet he had not done so. Even though he had gotten their father captured, according to their mother it was only a matter of time and he seemed to want to protect them. May be he would even teach them those good things and powers. So he too accepted Kasyapa being there. Ravana on the other hand was conflicted. Even though his mother told them the truth, he just couldn¡¯t accept it. Also, hearing his mother he seemed to be the cause for the disastrous fall of his parents. Due to this he felt ashamed of himself and felt guilty. He also didn''t like Kashyapa as he still couldn¡¯t forgive him. Feeling so many emotions going through his head he felt dizzy. He suddenly got up and ignoring his mother''s cries went out of the hut and ran to the forest. In his mind he could hear only a single word "Run! Run! Run! Run!" So he ran, he decided to go away from the place so as to not be a burden to his family again and to absolve his guilt. Chapter Six Chapter 6 Kaikesi saw Ravan get up and run. She tried calling him but he just kept on running. She thought that he would return once he cooled down. But morning had come and he was yet to return. She had remained awake the whole night. She started getting worried about him and was just about to search for him when Kashyapa came forward. "Don¡¯t worry, rest a while. I''ll go search for him" he said. He then left the mountain. As he left the mountain smoke and fog covered the mountain. After a while the whole mountain disappeared like it didn¡¯t exist at all. Ravana He ran for quite a while. Maybe it was due to his emotions running high or the tears streaming down his face, he didn¡¯t realize that he was running faster than normal. In fact he was running really fast, so fast that the surrounding passed in a blur. He ran for the whole night with tears in his eyes and fell unconscious without any knowledge of the surrounding. When he came to, he realized that he was in a crudely made bed. He also saw his drool in the pillow made from straw, which he chose to ignore. As he sat there on the bed, he recollected what happened yesterday and him running away. He also remembered the promise made to his father. He felt ashamed for acting in a child like manner, but what was done had already been done. There was nothing he could do to change that. So, thinking that he must have run to the village near the mountain, he tried getting up from the bed. Just as he was about to do so, the door to the room opened and in walked an old woman. Seeing the unfamiliar woman walking towards him, he spoke "Granny, where am I?" the granny instead of answering him looked at him with a sweet smile and said" So, you have woken up huh? Really a young one like you should take care about where you nap. If I hadn¡¯t found you in time, who knows what might have happened?" Thinking that some wild animals might have made him their prey, the old woman frowned in disapproval. Hearing this Ravana was a little embarrassed. He then got up from the bed and went to the granny. Seeing that the granny was carrying a bag which looked heavy, he went forward and took it from her and asked her where should he put it? He thought that he must not have wandered too far from home if only a night had passed. This was mainly because he didn¡¯t realize the speed at which he ran. As he went outside the room and the house helping the old woman in tow, he saw the village he was in. it was a normal looking village, but the strange thing was there were mainly children and some women around. However the men were seen rarely in the whole village. He found this strange but didn¡¯t think much about it thinking they must be working or something. He thought that the village he was in must be one of those that present just below or near the mountain. But as he walked down the village, he realized he had never been to this place before. Although there was a total mountain which looked somewhat similar to the one where he and his family lived in, he knew it was a different one. Because he had lived there so long he knew each and every parts of the mountain, so he knew he was in a different one. And then it finally hit him. He was lost. He didn¡¯t know where he was. He got a little scared thinking what might happen to his family when he wasn¡¯t there. But then he thought about the sage that was there. He unconsciously relaxed a little. Perhaps he himself didn¡¯t realize this but he had started trusting the sage because of the influence of the tale his mother told him. The old woman seeing Ravana with a glazed look in his eyes reached out and slapped him in the back of his head. The startled Ravana looked at the scary looking old woman and meekly smiled and asked" Where is this place?"If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement. Hearing this, the old woman was dumbfounded."Little boy, did you hit your head somewhere? What were you doing in this place if you don¡¯t know where you are? Are you a traveler? Do your parents know where you are?" Hearing such a barrage of question come out of the mouth of the old woman he felt a wave of dizziness in his head and started turning a little green. The old woman saw this and started fussing over him, urging him to return to the hut. As he returned to the hut and talked to the old lady, he learned that her name was Sundari. Hearing this name Ravana was a little stunned. Sundari meant beautiful but looking at the old woman the meaning really didn¡¯t match. She had lost the front row of her teeth and her skin was full of wrinkles. She also had her back crooked. It could be said that time hadn¡¯t been merciful on her. However her eyes were still full of vigor. Sundari seeing Ravana looking at her weirdly, humphed and said" If you had seen me during my young years then you wouldn¡¯t be looking at me so. You would be drooling all over me." Hearing this Ravana got even greener. Seeing this Sundari cackled and moved to the kitchen that was in another room nearby. As she left Ravana relaxed his shoulder which he didn¡¯t even realize were tense. He looked around the hut as Sundari kept on cooking something. Although the hut looked small and shabby from the outside it wasn¡¯t so inside. It was a four roomed hut including the kitchen. When he had gone outside he had seen similar hut but with less occupying space. Mostly hut only contained two rooms, one as a kitchen and another as the room where people slept. Besides the old woman lived alone in that hut and at most occupied two rooms with the kitchen granted that she didn¡¯t sleep in the kitchen. Seeing this, he got a little curious as he realized the granny must not have lived alone. Thinking this he went to the kitchen where the granny was carrying a bowl of soup and asked" Granny Sun, where are the rest of the people that lived here?" Hearing this question the smile on her face suddenly disappeared to be replaced by a pale whiteness. She started swaying as she heard this and would have fallen on the floor had Ravana not caught her. Ravana quickly brought over a jug of water and fed it to her. As she got stable she weakly smiled and said in a weak voice" So you realized it, huh." Ravana nodded to that. "What happened?" he asked realizing through the action of the old woman that some calamity must have oocured to the inhabitants of that hut. Sundari took a long sigh and sat up. Taking a deep breath she replied" When you went out did you realize that this village had very few men?" Ravana too had thought of this before but hadn¡¯t put much thought into this. As he thought so, she continued speaking" This was because the men of the village were taken away by force. Each month at the full moon night they come and take the men remaining in the village away. Many other villages are also suffering the same problem." "How come no one is doing anything about it then?" Ravana asked thinking that if all the villages nearby banded together then they could easily take care of the people who took those men away. Sundari laughed bitterly. With despair and hopelessness in her eyes she spoke" If they were men or devils (Rakshas) then perhaps we would have fought together. What can we say when the one that took them away are the people that we cannot touch? What can we do except feel despair when we realize that our savior is the one taking our loved ones away? What can we feel but powerless when we saw that the one that took them away was a god?" saying this she started bawling out loud. Chapter Seven Chapter 7 As Ravana heard Sundari speaking he was startled. Gods? Devils? He had just learned about them from his mother. As he was born in a secluded environment he didn¡¯t really know the difference between them. Now he once again heard those terms. And judging by the tone of the woman, Gods seemed more popular than the devils among the people. But seeing the Sundari crying, he decided to put the task at the back of his mind and focus on the task at hand. He soothed her and she continued "It all started seven years ago. We saw a ball of fire drop from the sky. The earth shook as this happened. Men from different villages went there. When they returned they were in daze. My husband and son had gone there as well. They told me that God had come. They said he was bathed in gold and had great powers. They said that he would help the villagers grow and prosper. All of us and the neighboring villagers were happy hearing this. For a while good things happened. The crops started growing faster and our lives became better. The attacks of the beasts from the forest stopped as well. Then a year later things changed. Three people who called themselves the messengers of god came and told us to bring three strong men from each village to serve the god. We were happy to show our devotion and gratitude to the god. My husband was selected to go as well. They were sent to the place where the meteor first fell. The place was then made off limits to other normal peoples. Three months later, the same people came for three more men. At first the people were happy, but those sent never returned. More people were sent and men started lessening in the village. We asked those messenger but no answers were to be found. After three years more than half the men of the villages had disappeared. Seeing this, the villages decided to band together. There were thirteen villages in total. All the men and women gathered and carried weapons. We went to the place where the meteor fell which had totally changed. No more was a meteor there, instead a huge palace of gold stood there. We stood there dazed for a while and then attacked the palace. Before we could even reach the doors of the palace, the earth opened up to swallow the people. Many fell into the chasms created after the earth broke apart. None died though." "The men were captured and the elders were brought to the fore. The gates opened and a young man covered in blazing flame came forward. He had an otherworldly glow about him. This was enhanced by the armors he wore which seemed to grow red due to the flames burning them. Just by staring at him, one would know he was a god. But instead of being merciful he killed the elders and village heads of the thirteen villages just by waving his hand. Balls of fire formed which burned them alive. He said nothing and just returned back followed by those messengers. The gates closed and we terrified of what we saw returned back. When we were calm and sane again, we found that only some of the men remained whereas most had never returned. My son was taken as well. We wanted to do something, but we knew we wouldn''t be able to do anything. We''ve been living like this ever since." The old woman concluded her story. Hearing the story he sighed and just patted her head like a child. After a while the sobbing stopped and she wiped her face. she then said" Come child, you must be getting hungry. I have made some food for you." Saying this she started pouring the soup and some fruit into a bowl. This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there. Suddenly the door of the hut was flung open and a young girl of fifteen stepped into the hut. She had a little sun burnt brownish face which looked really pretty and she was laughing quite innocently as if happy about something. She said "Grandma, I brought you some¡.". She stopped speaking. Seeing Ravana she said "Oh!" she then blushed and ran out the door dropping all the fruits she had on the floor. Ravana curiously looked at Sundari and she replied" she''s the one who carried you from the forest to this hut." His eyes widened a little as he heard this and he continued looking at Sundari. Sundari in turn snorted and said" Hmph, you think an old woman like me with skin and bones would be able to carry a lad like you?" Ravana was a bit embarrassed as he heard this. As she brought him the food Ravana asked" Oh! What''s the name of this village?" she nonchalantly replied" the name of this village is Bisrakh." Ravana nodded his head and didn¡¯t think about it too much. Only later would he realize the importance of the village and the girl for him. As Ravana started eating the third plate of food which was given to him by the dumbfounded Sundari, sounds of horses moving and neighing could be heard. Ravana ignored it and kept on eating but the facial color of Sundari started getting pale. She suddenly dashed out the door. Ravana seeing this knew something was amiss and followed her. Once outside, he saw a group of men in black clothing with different weapons in their hand standing at the centre of the village. There were probably about fifty of them in total. Seeing this he frowned. He then looked on as Sundari gritted her teeth and spoke" It''s those damn bandits again." As Ravana was about to ask what they were doing around here, Sundari saw his curious look. She said " The bandits didn¡¯t use to be around much before the men and warriors of the villages were taken away. but once they were taken, those bandits came around frequently. Before, there were only about twenty to thirty bandits. Then the scum of our societies started joining them as well. Now they are about fifty in total in this group. They march from village to village taking the foods and threatening the people. Lately they have started getting even bolder. They started taking liberties with the women of our village. Many of the women of our village were taken advantage of. Many were taken away by them as well. Last time they came here, they nearly took one of the young children away. she was only about fifteen. If the villagers hadn¡¯t banded together and stopped them from taking her, who knows what would have happened to her." Saying this she sighed and shook her head. The bandits then started ransacking the place. They started going to each and every house and started taking food and other valuables out from there. Yet none of the villagers did anything at all to stop this. This was because the last time the bandits had fewer numbers. However, that was not the case right then. There must have been about fifty bandits in total that were in the village. Seeing this the bandits had gotten even bolder and even started eyeing the women lecherously. Suddenly a scream was heard. Ravana hearing the scream turned and saw one of the bandits catching a girl and dragging her by the hair. The girl was none other than the one whom he had seen at the hut and who had carried him there. The villagers seeing this started fighting back against the bandits. However the bandits put an end to this by stabbing an old man. Fearing for their lives many of the villager retreated. But some like Sundari and others kept on struggling to get to the girl. Despair and helplessness could be seen on the face of the girl as she was dragged by the hair. But sudden she felt the bandit stop. Gaining some hope and courage she turned her head to see the cause of the bandit stopping. Chapter Eight Chapter 8 Ravana saw the girl getting dragged away. Realizing that the girl was the one who carried him to the hut and to safety, he had already felt indebted to her. Seeing the bandits dragging her like that he knew that he had to help her. So he had moved towards the bandit. Even he was startled at the speed at which he had moved. There must have been seventy meters between him and the bandit. In a blink of an eye he had already reached the bandit. He didn¡¯t realize the physical change he had gone through as he ran out of his home. He didn¡¯t realize before that his rage and other emotions had broken some kind of barricade inside of him and released something. He saw the eyes of both the bandit and the girl widen when they saw him standing in front of him. The bandit was at first scared when he saw the speed at which the man came. But realizing it was just a young kid his uneasiness and fears disappeared. "Haha, little kid, you startled me. What, you want to act as a hero and save the damsel in distress?" he threateningly spoke and took out a saber from the sheath at his side releasing his bloodlust, thinking that the kid would back away, seeing this. To his surprise not only did the kid not move, but he suddenly extended his hand. Before the bandit could even realize what was happening, Ravana caught the bandit by the throat and threw him away like a ragged doll. Time seemed to freeze as the other bandits and the citizens of the village saw this. Anger and a little bit of shame could be seen in the eyes of the bandit when they saw one of their own being so easily flipped by a child. Hope and surprise could be seen in the eyes of the villagers. Both the opposite parties started tightening their hand on the weapon that they were handling. Arun was the name of the leader of the group of bandits currently in the village. He once used to be a thief who stole only to gamble it all away. He had been black and blue many times by the men of the village. But things changed when the meteor fell. Suddenly many of the strong people of the village were taken away and only the women, children and old people remained along with few of the able men remaining. Seeing this, he knew it was his time to rise. He joined the group of bandits that were forming. He flattered the Chief of the bandits who pleased by his flattery granted him his own group through which he could raid the villages. He had gone to raid in other villages as well. He and his group had taken whatever they wanted and those who had tried to stop them had been silenced which had prevented the other people from doing the same due to fear. He had thought that today would be no different. Then he saw one of his men being flung over by one of the childish looking youngster. Thinking that the man must be drunk due to which he was easily flipped over, he got off from his horse and started moving forward towards Ravana and the girl. The villagers seeing this knew that the man must be planning to do something horrendous to those children to establish his dominance. And they knew that they had to stop him from doing so. Even thought they didn¡¯t have proper fighting equipments in contrast to the bandits, they were pure and simple minded with a conscience which didn¡¯t allow them to see anything happening to those young looking children. So they started forming a line between the bandits and Ravana. But the villagers were weak, since most of the warriors had been taken. So they could only produce a small amount of resistance against nearly fifty men. The old woman Sundari too was there hitting the bandits with a log of wood. By chance, while Sundari was trying to hit the bandit the wood slipped from her hand and hit Arun in the head. The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation. Arun was hit in the head so hard that he saw stars during the daylight. He had seen the old woman throw the block of wood. Feeling the blood dripping off his head, he was enraged to the point of seeing all red. Without even thinking about the age difference or the respect to the elderly he punched his fist out, which hit Sundari in the face. The poor woman flew out like a leaf blown by the wind. Ravana was about to move toward the girl who was sniffling when he saw the scene of Sundari getting hit occurring. He saw her hit the floor, feebly shaking and moaning in pain. Memories flashed in his head seeing the old woman laugh and cry, seeing her feeding him the food and playfully hitting him. Then something inside him snapped. All the rage he felt, the unfairness of the ways of the world just bled from his heart. The scene of his powerlessness when his father was taken kept on flashing right before his eyes. A power unlike anything he felt before rose from his chest and only a ringing sounded in his ear "KILL, KILL, KILL!" He didn¡¯t realize that he had shouted it out loud. The bandits who had broken through the resistance line of the villagers snickered as they charged toward Ravana. Ravana moved forward to meet them as well with nothing but his hands. One of the bandit seeing Ravana appear before him freaked out and tried to slash his sword. But before he could even move his hand, he felt an intense pain coming from his chest and flew backwards crashing into a hut. Another bandit nearby the previous one was stunned seeing this. But before he could even freak out about it he felt a wind pass by him. He flinched a little and closed his eyes as he felt the hand of death hovering over him. But all he heard were cries of the people. As he opened his eyes, he saw a blurry vision of other bandits getting gutted by their own swords and weapons. Some were even killed or torn apart with the bare hands of the little devil covered in red. Even though he saw his friends and comrades dying the bandit was happy that he was alive until he felt himself falling and his vision turning upside down. As he fell, he saw a headless body standing still. Even as his consciousness faded away, he kept on wondering why the headless body looked so familiar. Arun with cold sweat running behind his back, started backing up as he asw this. Many of his fellow bandits had treid to attack the boy seeing him kill their friends. But they too had died cruelly at the hand of the child. Some of his friends had tried abandoning them and running away. but they was tragically killed by the spear or other weapons thrown by Ravana. Even the horses had run away neighing and buckling as they ran. It was as if they could sense a predator that was starting its hunt. Before long all the bandits had been killed by Ravana except Arun. "Spare me, Please." Arun started getting on his knees and begging. If one looked closely, they would see a yellow spot forming in his trousers. He slammed his head down as he said it. "They forced me to join this gang. I haven¡¯t done anything wrong. I was just following them so that I could have something to eat and feed my children. Please spare me for the sake of my children." he started babbling about nonsensical things. Then he saw Ravana turn his back towards him. Thinking that Ravana must have forgiven him and it was his cue to leave he started scampering. As he turned backwards he froze when he saw the villagers surrounding him. Before he could even plead or say anything, the villagers started stabbing him in all the parts. Many of them were women who he had taken by force and many were children who he had beaten up. As the villagers were busy taking their revenge, no one saw Ravana. No one saw, that the death god who had just saved them and killed those bandits cruelly, had a greenish pale face which looked like it was about to puke any second. None of them realized the psychological trauma Ravana was going through as he saw the carnage painted in blood by his own hands. No one saw the hollow look in his eyes and no one felt the despairing sadness emanating from him. Chapter Nine Chapter 9 The whole village was filled with the sound of happiness that night. People were seen dancing and laughing everywhere, smiling at each other. Maybe it was because it had been a long time since they had a reason to be happy, they let themselves go all out. All the young people and the old ones drank their heart out and no one put a stop to it at all. The atmosphere was infectious. Even Ravana, who was in depressed mood, who was trying to figure things out like whether he did the right thing killing them all or not was infected by it. Ravana after all was only fifteen. Living in an isolated world, he barely knew anything. Even though he had killed animals and beasts before, it was different from killing humans who talked like him, walked like him and showed plenty of emotions in their faces. And seeing the people happy he decided as a way to escape from his guilt of killing those people. Some of the younger people of the village, who had started idolizing Ravana seeing his feat of wiping out the bandit, came closer to him and started offering him wine and fruit to eat. Ravana had never drunk wine before. So the bitter taste which came due to swallowing it was kind of new to him. He wanted to spit out the whole thing but seeing even the kids younger than him were drinking it easily he swallowed it down, just to maintain his pride. As the night wore down, the wine started flowing as well. Due to it being his first time drinking, naturally his tolerance was low. He started getting tipsy and drunk. At first, when the villagers themselves who were already drunk saw this they started laughing as Ravana drunkenly swayed around. But as the villagers dwindled in their own drunkenness, they failed to see the situation of Ravana. At first the dizziness and euphoria was good for him. His mind was numbed after drinking a lot of wine. All the people who had drunk with him were already faint and sleeping. Ravana in his drunkenness was smiling happily in a lazy kind of way. Due to drinking too much he had to go and take a piss. As he moved towards the bushes near the river, he saw a blurry shadow of a man near a tree with his back faced towards him. Ravana didn¡¯t mind it at first but seeing the man standing in the same position as he was in before, Ravana started feeling a little uneasy. Slowly the man tuned towards him. Even through the blurry eyes of Ravana, he could clearly see the gaping wound in the chest of the man. As his fuzzy eyes started left the bloodied gaping chest of the man towards his face, Ravana froze and lost all remaining colors of his face. This was because the man he saw was none other than the bandit he had killed with his own hand. As he froze, the man slowly started creeping towards him. As he got closer, Ravana saw many other men following behind him. Some of them were headless with the head carried in their arms. Some of them were crawling casue they had no legs. But all they had in common was that they were the men that had been killed by Ravana just before in the day. Ravana just remained frozen as those dead men surrounded him. He could feel the bile rising in his throat as he saw those men. He had the urge to vomit but somehow managed to stay still not because he wanted to, but because an unknown emotion had gripped him tight in his heart. They all parted to reveal a man with wounds riddles on his whole body. Ravana recognized the man as the leader of the bandits who had been killed by the villagers. His skin was blue and black in color not because it was natural but because he had been beaten black and blue by the villagers and died due to the hemorrhaging of the blood inside. This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings. The man came forth and spoke "I had a son, a daughter who is waiting for me to come home. They must be hungry and waiting for their father to provide them with food. Now that I am dead who will provide them with food? What are they going to do now that they don¡¯t have a feeding hand? Who''s going to tell them that their father''s not coming home? It''s your fault that I''m dead. And if my children die then it''s on your head too." Cruelly laughing the bandit said" How does it feel to know that you just destroyed an entire family, huh? Do you feel glad, you little monster? " Another man came forward and said with a snide tone" No wonder your father left. Knowing how horrible his son is, how could the man stay with him?" heering laughter followed. Ravana even in his fear gripped state murmured "No, father only left because those men forced him to. It''s not my fault.." Yet the laughter and the accusation continued with no respite. Everyone of the dead people had their own sayings to say. "My old mother¡¡. " " My Father¡.." "My Wife¡." Hearing all the accusation and the state their family would be in, Ravana''s leg quivered and he fell down on the ground. He covered his ears to stop those sound from reaching him. He tried to crawl so that he could leave them far behind. He shouted at them but nothing worked. Eventually they surrounded him. With tears and snot running down his face, he tried to run, but just stumbled and fell. They were about to reach him and their cruel faces with blood running everywhere came nearer. Suddenly a hand grabbed him in his shoulder and threw him into the river. Ravana thought the men he killed had came for their vengeance and were thinking of drowning him. As he spluttered and gasped for air while coming to the surface of the river, he tried to swim towards the other way. However, someone caught him and once again threw him to the shore. As he kept on panicking and trying to stay above the water, the hand slapped him hard. "SNAP OUT OF IT!!!" A booming sound rang in his head. As the voice entered his head, his mind suddenly got clear. The panic seemed to recede a lot in his mind. Through the moonlight shining, he looked around to see if those men were there or not. He didn¡¯t see any of them. The forest which just before seemed to be covered in blood was now green with the grasses. He gasped for breath, as he thought what must have happened when suddenly a voice behind him spoke in a wry voice "Whatever you just saw was just a figment of your imagination. The wine must have helped a lot in causing that." Relief flooded through him as he hard this. His head was now clear of any vestiges of the numbness and was suddenly fresh and sharp. He turned around to thank the man who helped him "Thank y¡." he froze as he started thanking the man. This was because he saw who the man was. The man sighed and came forward towards him. A complex emotion rose in Ravana''s heart as he saw the man. This was the guy responsible for his family separating. But again this man was supposed to be his grandfather as well. Also he had saved his family and now he had helped him as well. Ravana didn¡¯t know what to say to the man The man was none other than the sage Kashyapa. The amount of resentment that Ravana had for this man was great; however he knew he was really weak in front of this person. Also the hallucination he just saw of the men he killed made him have a lot of self hatred and loathing. Coupled with the things that had happened a few days ago, it truly was too much for a young child to handle. Perhaps Kashyapa could sense the emotional changes of Ravana, but there was no reaction from him at all. After a while Kashyapa just sighed and spoke softly "You truly have a na?ve and soft heart." Chapter Ten Chapter 10 It seemed that the simple act of killing had taken a toll on the simple minded Ravana who had lived a normal life until then. Even though he had killed animals and other demonic beasts, it was different when it came to killing humans who looked and showed emotions like him. Ravana froze as he heard the soft muttering of Kashyapa. The rage and resentment came pouring out of him like a dark mist. "Well, I''m not like you who can cast his own blood aside and hurt his family mercilessly. I have a conscience that doesn¡¯t let me do things that hurt others who might have a family like me. Unlike you, I''ve cast aside all my feelings and emotions. You won''t understand." Ravana insidiously spoke. As soon as he finished speaking he felt a cold chill in his neck. It seemed his heart stopped for a moment as he felt a strange intent around him. This was the same kind of feeling he felt when he had seen a tiger locking on him for the first time, only this feeling was magnified by a thousand time. He felt that even If he breathed he would be killed. As he was feeling conscious about the fact, he heard a soft voice which sounded like that of a reaper. "This coming from a stupid child who has been sheltered all his life. THAT I DON¡¯T UNDERSTAND ABOUT FAMILY!! Me who fought so that my family could be sheltered, who killed so that the children of my family won''t have t. Who had to beg and bow his head in front of weaklings so that his nephew''s life could be spared? And I am called emotionless by a brat who pees and cries the first time he kills an insect!" Ravana was dumbfounded as he heard the emotions and word spoken by Kashyapa. He could also see the rage and helplessness that Kashyapa felt as shown in his eyes. After a while, Kashyapa seemed to calm down. He looked at Ravana and sighed. "I know it feels disgusting when you think about the people you killed and their families. However, you should also think what would happen if you didn¡¯t kill them. How many families would have to be sacrificed so that their own stomachs can be filled? How many innocent people would have to die before they are stopped or they stop doing these things? Those guys are the scum of the world. No one is going to miss them after they are gone." He pointed towards the village which seemed so peaceful and continued" Look how peaceful the atmosphere is right now. How the villagers are happy. Do you think it would be the same if those people were still alive?" Hearing this Ravana pondered for a while. Slowly the dull look in his eyes which carried the self hatred started vanishing and radiance started building in his eyes. It seemed he had finally gotten back together the missing pieces of his thoughts. "If your heart is in the right place and what you do helps others, even massacring a thousand turns out to be the right thing to do." Something primal awakened in Ravana as he heard this. It seemed he caught on to something that he hadn''t known before. He felt a power fill up his body that made him seem to do anything. Taking deep breaths he controlled the urge to roar out loud. After controlling his urge he looked at Kashyapa. Awkward silence filled the air as they both turned away from each other, but it seemed that Ravana had resolved some of the hatred towards Kashyapa. This narrative has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. If you see it on Amazon, please report it. "Oh right, the villagers said that the men and children of the villages were taken to serve some god. Do you know anything about this?" Ravana suddenly asked. After a brief look of confusion, Kashyapa closed his eyes. Ravana was dumbfounded as he saw Kashyapa meld with surrounding as if he was the part of land air and everything living. Kashyapa suddenly trembled and opened his eyes which seemed surpised all of a sudden. "Tvastar!" he suddenly shouted. Startled Ravana asked who he was. Kashyapa had a complicated and shrewd look in his eyes as he turned towards Ravana. He muttered" May be this is fate as well." Then he spoke to Ravana" Listen Ravana, this might be advantageous situation to you though it''s a lot more dangerous. The god that has come to this land is Tvastar. He can be said to be one of the greatest blacksmith and weapon maker present today. He even built the Vajra of Indra who is the king of the gods. So you should know how good his skills are. It seems he''s here to build another powerful type of weapon." With indigence Ravana asked" But isn¡¯t he a god? Why would he take the villagers then?" With a deep sigh Kashyapa spoke" For two reasons. The first reason is to mine the minerals and ores found here along with stoking the fire properly while refining the ores. The second reason is to¡. It''s to use all the captured villagers for sacrifice." Ravan was aghast when he heard this. Seeing his pale face Kashyapa spoke "Think about it. Even though Tvastar is a great blacksmith, his weapon wouldn¡¯t be up to par if cant feed it powerful pure energies. Also he can''t cool the weapon after hammering it and enflaming it with fire with any normal water. Besides what is a more pure form of energy than the souls of the people especially those who are simple minded. And what better to cool the weapon with than the blood of the humans. Even though it¡¯s a taboo method, it''s a strong method to utilize to form a weapon." The more Kashyapa spoke, the more horrified Ravana became. "We should stop this." He spoke With a calculative look in his eyes which seemed out of place with the sage getup on his face, Kashyapa spoke" I would love to help them. But then I wouldn¡¯t be able to concentrate on keeping your mother and the children safe. Who knows when they might get attacked by some of the gods?" Even though Ravana sensed something out of place going on, in his panic he forgot to take notice of it. "Then what should he do? He asked Kashyapa. Ever since his mind and heart got cleared it seemed Ravana started looking towards Kashyapa for some ideas and instructions." "I can''t but you can." Kashapa spoke with a little smile in his face. "Me?" Ravana looked at Kashyapa with an uncomprehending look in his eyes. "Don¡¯t forget your heritage child. Don¡¯t forget that in your veins is the blood of the gods and demons alike." Just as Ravana''s blood started boiling it cooled down as he heard Kasyapa''s further words "However it''s true that you are a weakling right now. You wouldn¡¯t be able to match the followers much less the Tvastar himself. So let me help you." Saying this he pointed his fingers toward the forehead of Ravana and a connection started forming between them. Information started flowing inside Ravanas head which he seem to understand easily. This made him gape in amazement. As the information stopped flowing in his head he looked at Kashyapa. "This is the most powerful body strengthening scripture I have right now. I found it some years ago and took a liking to it. Unfortunately for me, I had practiced some other techniques and couldn¡¯t use this one as this scripture requires the body to be untouched by other methods. Also my focus is in other things rather than on cultivating the body. Hence I give it to you. You can utilize it to strengthen your body." Kashyapa nonchalantly said. Nodding his head, Ravan closed his eyes and looked at the technique imprinted in his memory. "Immortal Body Cultivation technique" the first line of the technique read.
