Prologue ''Damn... Why am I feeling so weak right now? I can''t even move an inch!'' His body felt heavy like a huge stone right now. He just woke up but this is something he has never felt, not even when he was hospitalized. He tried to look around and all he was seeing was huge stone walls and big tools hung on the wall. It was like a house of a giant, everything looked oversized. ''Did I drink too much and slept in an attraction park??'' But then something else more surprising caught his attention.

What the fuck is this..?? This looks like a status window in rpg games! But...but...where the fuck am I then?! Wait, what did I do the last time? And why do I not remember who I exactly was and what I did?? What was my name?? Why can¡¯t I remember all these things?? What is going on?? What is going to happen to me?? He had a lot of thoughts going through his head but they didn¡¯t last that long as he felt hunger catching him. ¡®Anybody there?! Somebody help me!¡¯ ¡°Wah! Wahhh!¡± No matter how he tried to shout or call for help, all that was coming out of his mouth was nothing but the cry of a baby. Yes! He cried like a baby. Why? Because he WAS a baby! Chapter 1: Karl the Baby An old woman came, alerted by the cry of the baby. The woman looked big. Very big. ''Is she a giant??'' "Oh my, you must be hungry, right? Here''s your treat." The old woman carried himand fed him with a bottle of warmed milk. The bottle was made of wood and the tip was just covered with a thin layer of cloth but whatever it is, when you are hungry, you just shut your mouth up and eat what is given to you. "My boy, what an appetite you do have, hohoho (*it''s not Santa Claus laugh). You are new here so let''s give you a name as well. It would be too cruel for a cute baby such as you to not have any name." So yeah, he now has a name: Karl. ''Well, it''s not too bad as a name I guess.'' thought Karl, the baby. "Boo-booh" "Oh, you are happy now? What an adorable baby you are. May Demeteria bless you, Karl." And so, after being fed, Karl was layed back on his bed. ''Demeteria? From what she says, that must be the name of the God in which she believes in'' He tried to move his bodyafter the old woman was gone but without much success. So he tried to swing his arms upwards. A bit chubby, white, petit but fragile looking arms. Like a baby''s arm. And look at those small tiny hands! A baby''s hand! Yeah, now it''s confirmed: Karlreally wasn''t in a land of giants (or in an attraction park) but he became a baby.Stolen story; please report. ''So I should think I''ve reincarnated or something like thatand since I see this weird game window, this must be somewhat like in those fantasy novels. Well, I have no choice but to live on, get used to this and try to survive.'' There was no goods in being panicked and Karl fortunately was cool-headed. And there wasn''t much he could do anyway as for now. And so, Karl spent a few days trying to know more about his actual situation and his surroundings. So here''s what he got: 1. He''s an orphan (and the status window confirms it) and is in an orphanage. 2. For an unknown reason, he understands the language spoken by the old woman. And this language doesn''t look like any of those spoken on Earth. 3. The old woman is a nun. Her name is Emmanuella. 4. There''s 9 more other children in this orphanage, all older than him. 5. There''s a pinkish red moon in the sky!!! 6. The orphanage doesn''t seem to be in a good financial situation. 7. This world looks like the MiddleAges in Earth from what could be seen. The tools, the orphanage''s building, the clothes... So amedieval fantasy world? ''I feel so powerless...But wait, babies tend to roll over at around their 3rd or 4th months of birth! And the earlier I can do that, the earlier I could get out of this tiny wooden bed and move around! Well, this is just my expectation but let''s do this. It doesn''t hurt to try and I''ve got nothing better to do anyway.'' That''s how Karl tried over and over to flip over. 2 more days has passed and finally, Karl succeeded to flip over! ''Hell yeah! I don''t know why but it somehow feels like I''ve accomplished a great achievement!'' ''Damn it.'' Butnobody exceptasingle mosquito congratulated Karl for his effort. ''Fuck mosquito!'' Karl smashed the fucking mosquito that tried to bite his arm with its fucking needle and fucking suck his blood to the bone! Spaf! Suddenly, a small window popped up along with a bell sound. Ding~

''I just killed a mosquito and earned experience points?'' Is this real? Well, it is surprising but the thing that surprises the most is the "age bonus". What is this "age bonus"? It''s obvious it must be a bonus due to the age but it''s 10000 times the original experience points the mosquito should have given! ''Damn.'' thought Karl. Yes. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn. This (maybe) was the perfect opportunity for Karl to become a superduper baby because no other babies have enough consciousness and intelligence to use this fabulous thing called "age bonus". And from what it looks like, the "age bonus" decreases exponentially as you get older since the other kids in orphanage, nor Emmanuella the nun looked to be a kind of superhuman. (Because if it was that easy to earn EXP or the age bonus was not decreasing exponentially,we don''t see much other reasons ofwhy the other people around Karl was not tremendously strong.) Karl, thanks for being a reincarnated person, has (probably) found a way to raise his probability to survive in this medieval fantasy-ish world. If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation. ''Let''s seeif I can kill any other insects.'' Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizoowiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizzzz~ ''Speak of the devil and here comes another mosquito.'' But then this mosquito was more annoying and "smarter". Wush Wush No matter how he tried to smash the mosquito, it was way too fast for the fragile and slow baby Karl was. And the dark didn''t help him much although the room was lit with the moonlight So instead of just waving his arms like an idiot, Karl decided to use his adult intelligence. Karl stopped moving, stretched his left arm and waited like a hunter waiting for his prey. The stupid mosquito didn''t take long to fly towards Karl''s arm, to land on it, take the needle out and try to bite Karl. ''I''ve got you in my sight!'' Splaf!

''Wow, Ijust earned a credit as well.'' He didn''t know what to do with the credit yet as he couldn''t do anything more with the game system window than just watch his stats as for now. ''Let''s see what I can do with this credit thing before.'' ''Shop!'' ''Credit!'' ''Open!'' ''Open the shop!'' ''Sesame!'' ''Shop, please?'' Nothing opened, nothing happened. He couldn''t do anything with the game window, nor could he call a shop window like in other fantasy novels. ¡¥\_(¥Ä)_/¡¥ As there was nothing Karl could do, he just decided to continue his mosquito hunting. And mosquitos didn''t lack at all. So Karl spent a few more dozen of minutes to hunt mosquitos before he finally reached level 1. ''Oh, great. I earned myself 2 stat points so now I (obviously) can raise my stats! But I have no idea how this will have effects on me.'' However, when you don''t try, nothing will happen. So Karl decided to invest his 2 stat points, 1 in AGI and 1 in VIT. ''I don''t feel like something changed much in me.''

Karl decided to hunt more mosquitos to raise his level but after catching 3 more, the SP was completely depleted. Yawn ''As soon as I get the SP depleted, I feel sleepy...'' Well, what could he do with his baby body? Nothing, right? So he fell asleep. Good night, Karl. Chapter 3: New Friends (written as "Friends" but read as "Experience points") It''s already been a week that Karl discovered that he could earn experience points by killing mosquitos. However, mosquitos quickly becamerarer day by day and thus the leveling upbecame a tiny bit harder to achieve. We may thing thisisn''ta big issue but for our little Karl, it was a matter of survivability. Nothing guarantees his actual situation will bethe same. He always had to prepare for the worst because life is a bitch. Seriously, it doesn''t give you lemons and it will try to f*ck youanytime you don''t pay attention. Or even if you do pay attention, it''ll hit you likea train you see it coming but can''t avoid. So the goal was simple but hard: Becoming strong, becoming autonomous. Oh and it was already mentionned but the orphanage wasn''t in a very-gifted situation. The orphanage ran by sister Emmanuella was in a very modest village. The nun receivedmeagre financial support from the regional diocese which was not enough for the orphans. The rest of the help was from the village, donations given by the villagers, in the form of foods, tools or little helps to maintain the orphanage. So more reasons to why Karl was pressuring himself to level up. Anyway. One day, Karl started to bawl, sway his arms and shake his body up and down. "Bah-booh! Bah!!" Emmanuella and alittle girl came to Karl. "Sister, what does the baby want?" Emmanuellaanswered "Well, I think our little Karl wants to get out from his bed and crawl on the ground."Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. Sister must be reading in his mind because that was exactly what Karl wanted. Once he was put on the ground (don''t worry, the floor was made of wood and it was rather properly cleaned. This is not a child abuse), Karl started to move around. He was actually looking for insects to kill. "Elise, can you look after Karl so that he doesn''t hurt himself, please? I''ll go tend the vegetable garden for a little moment." "Sure." So Elise, 6 years old, was on duty to look after Karl. It was all thanks to Karl who did stay calmalthough being a baby and that was how Emmanuella wasn''t worried to put Elise alone with the baby. "Karl, what are you doing?" said Elise. Karl was looking at a bunch ofants on the floor. "Oh, are youinterested inants?" "Booh-bah!" Splaf! Karl smashed anant with the palm of his tiny hand. "Jeez, Karl. Now you dirtied your hands. Let me wipe it for you." But before she could even bring a piece of cloth to do it so... Splaf! Splaf~ Splaf~! Splaf!!! Karl managed to kill more ants. Dozen of them! *sigh* "Naughty Karl. Well, now there''s no more for you to kill anyway." And Elise wiped Karl''s dirty hand palm. "Boo-booh." Nothing more to do, so Karl quickly became as good as gold. But then the massacre was worth the effort!

While leveling up, Karl tried to understand the system better. The stats before the parentheses were seemingly the actual body condition/stats while the ones in the parentheses were the ones he invested in and boosted. And somehow, the boosts were helping the body to grow and get stronger quicker than it should actually be without such system. So basically, the stats should still have raised by itself as he gets older and bigger but the points he invested made the process of growthquicker (since his VIT and AGI almost doubled in such short time). But theneven if hehad his stats raised,he didn''t feel like something changed radically in him unlike in the fantasy novels whereeven a tiny variation of statsmade the protagonists much much stronger and faster immediately (or the opposite in case of debuff). This tale has been unlawfully lifted without the author''s consent. Report any appearances on Amazon. Of course he felt stronger and more agile than beforebut then it was like his body was adaptating and getting sturdiergradually and slowly with time to match the stat boosts. And moreover, Karl didn''t know yetinwhich way and how thestats could influence his own body, nor the interaction between the other aspects such as HP, MP and SP where he couldn''t understand the exact correlation with these and with the stat points. It wasn''t exactlylike in the rpg games nor in novels, so hehad to observe this in a much longer period. Karl spent the following months to kill ants whenever he went out in themeadow in front of the orphanage. Elise was always the onelookingafter him since there was no accidents with Karl who stayed rather calmly except for killing the ants(witha stone as not to dirty his hands too much) but that was just tiny detail. Anyway, Karl continued to kill the ants as other insects or life forms were too hard to kill or were rare. He stopped killing mosquitos in the night to have the staminaduring the day to kill even more ants. And finally, Karl wasa year old (400 daysto makea year here by the way). He stopped babbling andstarted to make short sentences to talk (He could do much better but he decided not to surprise too much his surrounding. A baby talking like an adult would be weird and suspicious, right?). He also could walk around by himself on his feets. He became a bit taller. Moreover, the stats made him stronger and sturdierthan your regular babies on Earth. Karlbegan to investigate a bit furtherthan thesmall meadow next tothe orphanage. The river or hills not far from the orphanage were perfect for the small Karl. It wasn''t that dangerous and Elise was with him anyway. He noted what could be found around and what couldbe hunted or not yet. He also thought about what he could do in the near future. Now, he was ready for the Bigger and Greater. Chapter 5: Credits Karl was now 1 year old.

Hehad become much stronger and more agile. Karlinvested all his earned points in physical traits because theeffectsofINT and WIS weren''t clear yet and as they were already high enough, he didn''t think it was necessary as of yet. But then the stats were still a mystery because he didn''t know how SP was now bigger than HP, while MP was still only 1. Shouldn''t MP be proportional to the INT and WIS like in rpg games? Anyway, he''ll see about this later when he''ll have more clues. ''Let''s go step by step.'' "Elise, do you know what "credit" is?" said Karl. "Credit? Ah, you can buy things with it in the village or at the altar."Ensure your favorite authors get the support they deserve. Read this novel on Royal Road. ''So I wasn''t the only one to have rpg game system, huh?'' "The Altar? Where is it?" "It''s in the chapel next to the orphanage. If you pray for Mercuria very strongly, something will open to you!" The chapel was near so Karl decided to go check the altar first. In front of the altar, he prayed. ''How does this work? [O Mercuria, please show me the shop!]?'' Pop! A window popped up. It looked a bit like the stats window he had. On the window, he could search for the goods he wanted. Practically everything he had the knowledge of the existence could be found and be bought there. It even had modern items that existed only on Earth. From candies to the machine and guns. Everything was there! But then this "shop" had one big and critical flaw: everything was unbelievablyexpensive.A complete rip-off. And modern items were more expensive than the items we could find in this world. The cheapest riflewas sold at a few million credits. So yeah, OP hunting was not for him yet (or maybe never). "Elise, is it normal that everything is that expensive?" "It is. Butit''smuch cheaper to buy things in the villlage so people usually don''t buy in the holy shop." "Hmm...andhow can Iearn credits?" "From what I know, you can earn by huntingother life forms like animals and monsters or you can give offerings to Mercuria and earn credits." "Offerings?" "Yeah. You can give anything as offering! But not everything has great value. Sometimeshunters aroundthis region come to the chapelwith the mana gems they got from the monsters and earn credits. They often give donations to the orphanage!" Elise, despite being only 7 years old, knew a lot of things compared to the kids of her age. And she was a very kind child. In fact, the 9 other kids in the orphanage were all kind but Elise was much nicer and especially, more energetic. "Thanks Elise." "You welcome~ If you wish to know anything else, just ask me! I''m sure the one who knows themost of things here in the orphanage, after sister Emmanuella." Karl was in a good moodtoday as he got some good informations. Before going to think about what he could do with theseinformations and plan his future actions, he decided togrind ants to check one last thing. Splaf!

As thought, the age bonus was less than when he wasn''t 1 year old yet. the age bonus was now only 5000 times the original experience point instead of 10000. But it wasn''t a big loss as he couldn''t catch anything better than some small insects when he was 3 or 4 months old. He as become stronger and that means he could catch bigger preys. That''s why he went to investigate around the orphanage. The perfect spot for now would be the creek next to the river flowing around the village. the small creek was closer to the orphanage than the river, it was full offishes and little animals living around water spots. In a certain morning, Elise and Karl walked to the creek. The water was shallow but there was enough water to have river fish swimming inside of it. It didn''t look deep but the water level would be higher than Karl''s knees. "Karl, you wanted to have a water play here?" "No, I want to catch a fish. Can you help me?" "Fish? But we don''t have any tool. Not even a fishing rod." "No but wecan tryto make one." Karl took long ivy branches from the trees around the creek and made an improvised fishing net. It did look shabby but it probably was better than nothing. (Not like a baby and a small girl could catch a fish with their bare hands). Along the creek, a bunch ofcarps were swimming. (*don''t ask me why and howthere''scarps in another world and not some weird or different races of fish.) Helped by Elise, Karl tried to catch thecarps with the fishing net.Stolen novel; please report. They dipped the net from a certain distanceand moved it very slowlyuntil the net was belowthe little shoal of carps. "Pull it now!" Elise and Karl pulled the fishing net made of ivy branches as fast as they could. Most of thecarps managed to swim away safely but there were so many of these that the two kids still caught5 or4 carps. "Karl, wemade it! Let''sbring these to sister Emmanuella and askif we could eat the carps for dinner and share with everybody." Elise was a kind girl. Karl wasn''t against it as Elise was a great help to catch the carps and also becauseeverybody in the orphanagehelped the sister and the other orphans. Anyway, before bringing the carps, they hadto bleed or killthe fishbefore their blood spreadsin the body due to the extreme stress. This way, the flesh could be kept longer and the taste was better as well. However, the two kids were not used to bleed them. That''s why,Elise and Karltookwood branches and smashed each carp''s head tokill them instantly.

etc. One another interesting thing: even when it was Elise who killed the carp, Karl still received experience points and vice-versa. It seems the contribution from the beginning till killing the carps were counted in. "Wow, I earned experience points, Karl!" "Congratulation Elise." "Let''s come back again tomorrow! Hihi." So the two kids went back to the orphanage. Sister Emmanuella was surprised but she wasn''t that surprised because children had to learn how to work and help their family in very early age in this world, like on Earth in the past. (*if you didn''t know, even less than half century, children still had to learn how to workand it is still the case in developing countries.) With the carps,Emmanuella made delicious fish soup and everybodyin the orphanage could enjoy the meal. The next day, Karl and Elise were preparing to go to the creek once again. "Hey! Wait me!" Chapter 7: Making Traps "Hey, wait!" Somebody has stoppedKarl and Elise who where going to catch fish today again. "What is it, Remi?" said Elise. Remi, 13 years old, was the second eldest orphan. He helps the nearby farmers to earn money (credits) and contribute to the management of the orphanage. "You two are going to catch fish today as well?" "Yes. Want to join us?" "No, I''ll be off to work later but I wanted to give you some stuff before you go to the creek." Remi had a small knife and a wooden bucket in hand. "Take these. Yesterday, you said you needed to bleed the fishes but couldn''t because you had no tools. So here''s a knife to bleed the fish and a bucket to be easier to store them and to carry them. Oh and you can use these for other purpose to of course. Just make sure not to hurt yourself." "Thanks a lot Remi! We''ll take care of ourselves. Have a nice day." "Yeah, have a nice day to you too, Karl and Elise. I look forward to eat fishes again tonight."Enjoying this book? Seek out the original to ensure the author gets credit. "Hey Elise. Why not try to make a fish trap now that we have a knife?" "But I don''t know how to make one." Karl knew how to thanks to the knowledge he had from his previous life (which he couldn''t remember details of his life but had kept the knowledge) but he couldn''t say that. So he had to lie a bit. "I''ve seen someone in the village make one. It wasn''t that hard." With the knife, the two children could build primitive fish traps in an easier way as they could cut branches with much less effort and could polish them. As Karl was still weak, Elise was the one who did the most in building fish traps. It took a while to maketo make two but now, they''ll need less effort They placed the fish traps, one in upper stream and one in lower stream of the creek. "Karl, do you want to catch fish with the fishing net as well?" "No, I want to make rabbit traps too." "Rabbit traps? Oh, I know how to make one. Jean showed me how to make one the last week." (15 years old, Jean was the eldest orphan. He is an apprentice hunter and is not often in the orphanage anymore as he is most of the time following the hunters from the village and learn the job. Sometime when he came back, he brought a part of what he had hunted.) Rabbit traps were easier to build as they were smaller. And soon, they had placed the traps with baits carefully not to leave their traces. Now they just had to wait patiently.
