《i'm supposed to be the hero, so why am i a skeleton!?》 Prologue the ironic hero my childhood was pretty normal, born to a common peasant family, I spent my days, chasing girls, and helping my family on the farm, but I wanted more. I had always been told stories by my mom about heroic men in shining armor, slaying the evil dragon, saving the princess, and banishing evil! Those stories inspired me and formed the bases for my morals today, Fight for good and justice, and helping those in need. So after scraping enough copper by doing odd jobs, I bought a sword and a ride to the nearby city, and after paying the registration fee, I officially became an adventurer! However my life as a new F-Ranked adventurer was less glamorous then I imagined, spending most of my first month as an adventure doing things like picking herbs and finding lost cats, a far cry from the grand dream of banishing evil I thought it would be; however the explanation from I received from the guild made sense. F-rank is mainly meant to help newbies get used to how the guild¡¯s system works, and for those who don¡¯t have any other choice, to make enough money to get by, With E-ranked adventures being those considered as real adventures. So after a month, I graduated from rank F to rank E. The first thing that is recommended for E ranked adventures are to enter the sponsored training camp. I decided to trust my seniors and take the course. The camp was the toughest thing I had ever experienced, I thought working in the fields all day was exhausting, however with the constant switching between teaching me how to use my weapon of choice, longsword, and drilling basic info about what must be almost everything in existence, I would go to bed exhausted every night. But I stuck it out and eventually graduated. To take the course though I had moved a few cities over to one of the smaller cities in the country, and decided to make it my base of operations as a newbie adventurer. But still being influenced by my dreams of being a hero, I immediately accepted the request for the cores from some undead in the first level of a nearby dungeon. It was also a repeating quest, so it quickly became my main source of income. The pay was decent, and I was saving up for some better equipment when one day an accident happened... I was slaughtering the most common enemy on the first floor, skeleton rats when a skeleton wolf popped out of nowhere! These enemies were rare on the second floor, only appearing often on the third floor in packs, which meant, to have met them on the first floor, when rarely if ever do monsters leave there floor¡¯s in dungeons, was terrible luck. The wolf swiftly killed me in an almost painless way, almost. Which brings me to where I am now. Wondering how I''m still alive, but that question was quickly answered by a quick look downwards, unlike the tanned skin I had expected to see, what I found was a dull-white skeleton. I would have screamed if I could, but only a clacking noise was made as my jaw bounced around, I was very confused. why was I a skeleton!? but I quickly remember something from the course. if you find something strange with yourself check your status, and find a doctor. I quickly pull up my status, I should probably explain what the status is, why? the same reason I told myself my own life story, to try and calm myself down. The status is a gift from the gods, to see ourselves more clearly and help us advance deeper on our paths.

Titles
Chosen hero of light Lesser undead
The first thing that caught my attention was the two titles, titles weren''t the rarest things in the world but, they usually take time to get. of course there are some exceptions like racial titles such as lesser undead which was most likely given to me for being a lesser undead, but putting those thoughts aside I pull up their descriptions

When the god of prophecy Fuen, foresees a being of darkness rising to power, the god of light Yam, chooses a dying mortal of virtuous heart to fight the darkness. You were chosen Effects: -increase stat growth - increase skill growth - increased affinity to light elements -Increased affinity to holy elements -decrease in affinity to darkness elements -Decrease in affinity to death elements

I start uncontrollably laughing or doing as much as a skeleton can do. I became a hero just as I''ve always wanted! but at the same time, I became an unholy creature of darkness! After calming down I realize I have a pending announcement

Well crap. S1 the churches side In a large room decorated with gold and silver, giving it a ¡®holy¡¯ feel to it. There was a man at about the age of 40. He was dressed in white robes, similarly decorated to the room with silver and gold. The only thing in the room other than the man was a stone platform with a large magic circle giving off a mysterious yellow light. As the light starts to fade, the man starts talking. ¡°Welcome hero! Now I know you must be confused, one moment you were dying, the next you''re here, but worry not! I will explain all, now come with¡ me?¡± As the light faded the man looked at the center of the circle to find nothing. Being understandably confused, the man, looks over the circle multiple times, to confirm there was no problem with it, and it was perfect, no faults in the formation, so he dashes out of the room into a hallway, standing outside was the captain of the church''s paladins ¡°Your holiness, what is wrong? Why are you so stressed? and where is the hero?¡± The man, who is almost certainly the pope, looks up at the paladin, seemingly not even noticing he was here until just now. ¡°Hmm? Oh yes, guard this door. Until I get back no one is to enter this door got it?¡± ¡°Yes your holiness, but still this doesn''t answer...¡± The paladin trailed off as he watched the pope frantically run down the hallway until he came to a large door, he quickly pulls a key form the sleeve of his robe, unlocking the door, entering inside, before locking it again. If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it''s taken without the author''s consent. Report it. In the room was a small cushion for kneeling on, and a statue made of marble. The statue was of a man, with a kind smile and soft eyes almost as if to say he was looking at the world and was happy with it. Something to note was that the only part of the statue that was not made of marble was the eyes, that were made of a purple alloy called gillium. Gillium is an alloy made refining silver and gold together, though it is extremely difficult to make, and expensive too, it is one of the most energy conductive materials in the world. The pope kneeling on the cushion clasps his hands together and prays. ¡°My lord, please answer my prayers¡± There was a flash in the eyes of the statue, before¡ ¡°Ah! George! I was just about to summon you.¡± ¡°My lord, please do not, humble this one, by casually calling this one by his name...¡± ¡°Oh come on, we¡¯ve known each other for centuries, why shouldn''t I call my friend his name.¡± ¡°This one thanks my lord¡± ¡°Hey, I''m calling you your name, it would be rude for you to not call mine¡± ¡°...yes¡ yam¡± ¡°HAHAHA! There we go! Now I assume the reason your here is the hero summoning?¡± ¡°Yes, the circle activated, but no one appeared¡± ¡°Makes sense. The one selected was in a den of darkness, and death.¡± ¡°What would a hero be doing there?¡± ¡°I dunno, vanquishing it, being sacrificed, I''m not sure. But as to why the summoning failed, it was the death, and darkness mana. Most of the divine mana used to summon the hero dispersed before it reached him, but similarly, the divine mana I sent to revive him, dispersed similarly.¡± ¡°What does this mean for the hero?¡± ¡°It means he either wasn¡¯t revived, or he was partially revived and when the divine mana faded, he died again¡± ¡°Then, what should we do¡± ¡°Summon another hero of course!¡± ¡°Yes, yam though it will take a week or two, to recharge the summoning circle for the summoning¡± ¡°That¡¯s fine, it¡¯s not like the creature of darkness will come to power today¡± chapter 1 oh rats! I can see only one option, to fuse the titles, but before I get a chance to choose it, three skeleton rats come running down the hallway, hmph! I kill skeleton rats for breakfast, literally, the money I make from skeleton rats have paid for breakfast many times. But this isn¡¯t the time for jokes, I stand up, taking a moment to get used to my new skeleton body, and charge at the rats. But something was a bit wrong I was moving slow, sluggish even. It¡¯s almost like someone drained my agility¡ stat¡ I quickly glance at my state screen, yep level 1 with 2 agility. I run I might have killed many skeleton rats before, but that was when all of my stats were in the 20s, but sadly I have two agility, so the skeleton rats were catching up fast, but I have been traveling the first floor for a while, I know this place and if I remember right around this corner is¡ I quickly round the corner I was coming up on, just in time to dodge the rat in front, that had leaped at me. And in front of me was a ledge around the hight of my torso. I quickly push myself up the ledge, this would normally be impossible with one strength, but I had no flesh to weigh me down. After I get to the top, I turn around, crouch and wait for them to come. I¡¯m too slow to outrun them, so I can only hold my ground here. As the first rat climbs to the top of the ledge I punch him back off, just as I do so the second comes, and my second fist comes too. This goes on a few times of me punching undead rats of the cliff. But it seems they realized my one weakness, there were three of them and I only had two fists. All three of the rats climb at once, I punch two and try to swing one of my fists to deal with the third, but the rat was faster and starts biting my ribs. Luckily for me, skeleton rats are fast, but not strong, it was about halfway through one rib, by the time I grabbed it with my hand. I didn¡¯t notice it earlier since I was just punching there faces, but I couldn¡¯t really ¡®grab¡¯ them, it was more like my fingers hooking around they''re ribs. I quickly through the rat at the wall away from me, and it seemed pretty hurt, hopefully, enough to ¡®bleed out¡¯ What I mean by ''bleed out'' is¡ weIl, i feel the booklet explains it better. When dealing with most undead the way to kill them is to remove the death mana from them, the death mana being what holds them together. There are three major ways to do thisLove what you''re reading? Discover and support the author on the platform they originally published on. There are some exceptions to this such as vampires, that do not require death mana to survive. So to sum it up bash them hard, and they fall apart. And quickly the battle starts to fall in my favor as I kill one of them, and I am able to focus more on the offensive. After they are dead almost on impulse I start to pick up the pearls. But when I grab one a screen pops up.
Do you wish to absorb miasma pearl?
Y/N
The booklet said ¡°Drain the death mana out of them: it is recommended if you do this, to not absorb it into yourself, because you may be corrupted or killed by it¡± But that applies to living beings, and I am not. so this can¡¯t really be that bad for me. So I select yes

The effect was an increase in max death mana, which is helpful in my current situation, I quickly absorb the other two miasma pearls, before heading back to my stuff. Speaking of my stuff, how did my stuff get off me? Sitting in a pile next to me was everything I had on me, including my clothes, so why were my clothes, that was on me, on the floor now. But I should at least take stock. First are my underclothes, that I then proceeded to put on, to cover my bones. They were a little big on my bones because they were meant to be worn with flesh, but I can deal with this, next was my armor, which I deal with the same as my clothes. Next was my backpack, it had a few snacks for when I got hungry, a flash rod {aka flash light}, a rope, and a map of the first floor. I also had a cloak in case it got cold, And lastly was my sword and its sheath. Which I strap on, a few holes tighter than before my death. *BOOM!!* Suddenly a wave of yellowish-gold swept out of him at the same time a similar wave of black came out of him, they swirled around him and all he could think before passing out was¡ oh, I forgot about the timer...
